- 0:25Speaker 1: home around the gold We're the Avid indoors Man. We

- 0:36Speaker 2: The indoors Man.
- 0:40Speaker 3: What is happening? I'm roblne Quist. Hello, I'm Boo. Helloy,
- 0:44Speaker 3: are the Avid indors on?
- 0:47Speaker 1: Everyone?
- 0:48Speaker 3: Hello? Hello?
- 0:48Speaker 4: How are you sir?
- 0:50Speaker 3: Doing great? Buddy?
- 0:51Speaker 4: Just living the dream?
- 0:52Speaker 3: How about you? Oh man? I got here a little
- 0:55Speaker 3: later than we said we would get together. I was
- 0:58Speaker 3: not smart and I left my phone in my kitchen
- 1:02Speaker 3: while I was playing catch with my son. And that
- 1:05Speaker 3: sounds like a pretty good reason. It was pretty great.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I'm enjoying it. He starts baseball tomorrow. Amazing where he's
- 1:13Speaker 3: gonna play. He's gonna have practices two days a week
- 1:16Speaker 3: for like five weeks, and then games for five weeks.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Fun and I'm stoked.
- 1:23Speaker 4: I'm really the sly pitcher. Is this like te ball style,
- 1:27Speaker 4: I'm assuming it is, but we're going to see it
- 1:30Speaker 4: at the coaches pitch or whatever.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Probably, Yeah, cool would be my guess. Yeah. Fun, But
- 1:36Speaker 3: we had to go get him a baseball glove and
- 1:39Speaker 3: I've been trying to like break it in so that
- 1:41Speaker 3: he can like actually claim so right, right, because he
- 1:45Speaker 3: had one even just from last year, and it's just
- 1:47Speaker 3: way too small. Yeah right. So yeah, so I was
- 1:51Speaker 3: a little tirdy fun anything new and fun with you, No.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Not really, just hang it out doing the fine.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Doing the thing. Yeah. We got Timberwolves playoffs, which has
- 2:03Speaker 3: been fun. That has been fun.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Big game last night. They're up three to one, which
- 2:08Speaker 4: I didn't think was gonna happen.
- 2:09Speaker 3: So that's nobody did.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:11Speaker 3: It's so much fun. I know, it's been amazing. Have
- 2:16Speaker 3: you been watching any fun movies? Yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 4: I went to the theater and I saw The Accountant
- 2:22Speaker 4: to You.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Tell Me, Tell Me some Things, Tell Me Everything. No,
- 2:30Speaker 3: really fun.
- 2:31Speaker 4: It definitely plays off the first one. It feels like
- 2:35Speaker 4: a different movie than the first one, but mostly in
- 2:37Speaker 4: a fun way. This one is a little bit more
- 2:40Speaker 4: straight action movie, I would say, okay, but not in
- 2:45Speaker 4: a bad way.
- 2:45Speaker 3: You know what I mean? I said, I didn't really
- 2:47Speaker 3: feel like the I wouldn't have said the first one
- 2:49Speaker 3: was an action movie at all.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Yeah, it had components of that. I feel like this
- 2:53Speaker 4: one more so that, but in a fun way. Some
- 2:58Speaker 4: great action. They make a couple very strange choices, I thought.
- 3:03Speaker 4: But also I was still just having a great time.
- 3:05Speaker 4: So I really liked it. I thought it was nice.
- 3:08Speaker 4: If you liked the first one, you'll like this. If
- 3:10Speaker 4: you like action movies, you'll also like this. It's just
- 3:13Speaker 4: it's gonna be a great time. I promise you'll like it.
- 3:15Speaker 3: So that's awesome. It was fun. You go with someboddies, Yeah,
- 3:18Speaker 3: I went with the Dave and Matt and Powells.
- 3:21Speaker 4: It was fun, nice, It was a good time. How
- 3:23Speaker 4: about you, What have you been watching?
- 3:25Speaker 3: I went and took a recommendation from you. Oh and
- 3:29Speaker 3: I watched Keiki, Palmer and Sizza in the movie One
- 3:33Speaker 3: of them days.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Well, yeah, what'd you think of that?
- 3:36Speaker 3: I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's
- 3:38Speaker 3: currently being played on Netflix. Super enjoyed it, very fun time.
- 3:44Speaker 3: While watching it, it really reminded me of the movie Friday,
- 3:47Speaker 3: Big time. It's all in one day. It's dealing with
- 3:51Speaker 3: some people on like the lower income side of things,
- 3:55Speaker 3: and the goofy characters involved in that group. Cat Williams
- 4:00Speaker 3: was really funny in his small role. He was the
- 4:04Speaker 3: goofiest of that. He was very silly, Lil Rel Howie
- 4:09Speaker 3: had a little cameo that was funny. Yeah like that.
- 4:12Speaker 3: But yeah, I had a great time with it. It
- 4:13Speaker 3: was just fun, you know. I didn't have to think
- 4:16Speaker 3: too much. I'm I'm becoming a big fan of Keiki Palmer.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I feel like I'm late to the Kiki Palmer tranger,
- 4:23Speaker 3: but her whole personality. I'm just I'm there for it.
- 4:27Speaker 3: I'm in.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I really liked it. I thought that was great.
- 4:29Speaker 4: I felt like it was like kind of Booksmarty Slash Friday,
- 4:34Speaker 4: almost like it felt like a combo of things.
- 4:37Speaker 3: But it was fun. It was fun. Have you been
- 4:40Speaker 3: streaming anything fun? Uh?
- 4:42Speaker 4: Not streaming. But I did go take one of your
- 4:45Speaker 4: suggestions and I saw the Minecraft movie. Oh you did
- 4:49Speaker 4: with the post Boys. I went and hung out with that,
- 4:52Speaker 4: which was fun, and man, you were right. That movie
- 4:56Speaker 4: is bizarre but fun, like super wacky and fun. It
- 5:01Speaker 4: doesn't make like a lot of sense, I feel like,
- 5:04Speaker 4: but it was a good time as a Minecraft player.
- 5:07Speaker 4: There are parts that I really loved seeing and then.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't have any of that because I never
- 5:12Speaker 3: played Minecraft, so I didn't know if it was if
- 5:16Speaker 3: you'd played it.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Because of that, you know, it was just like, oh
- 5:18Speaker 4: they did this you know thing or whatever. I was
- 5:21Speaker 4: laughing so hard at the spot I felt bad. But
- 5:25Speaker 4: the spot where Charlie was so sad.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Yeah, he was so sad, I know, dude. And like
- 5:32Speaker 3: afterwards we're explaining it to Kelsey and he is bawling
- 5:36Speaker 3: about this one Piggy he made this beautiful picture, sweet boy?
- 5:46Speaker 3: Is that so funny?
- 5:47Speaker 4: And I was like, I'll tell you later, Like it
- 5:49Speaker 4: was just cracking me up.
- 5:51Speaker 3: But seriously, a two second scene.
- 5:54Speaker 4: So early too.
- 5:55Speaker 3: I was just like, oh it stuck within the whole movie.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Yeah, oh bless his sweet little heart. But yeah, it
- 6:04Speaker 4: was like you said, Jack Black is just crazy in this.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Dude. That song, that Lava Chicken song is like a
- 6:12Speaker 3: top forty hit in the UK right now.
- 6:15Speaker 4: It's so silly.
- 6:16Speaker 3: It's the shortest, it's like forty second song. It's the
- 6:19Speaker 3: shortest song to ever be in like the top forty.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Ever really, Oh that's funny, love Chicken, It's perfect. What
- 6:29Speaker 4: else do you need?
- 6:29Speaker 3: You know?
- 6:30Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 6:31Speaker 3: It's really Jack Black.
- 6:32Speaker 4: It's really really wild. But yeah, I thought overall it
- 6:35Speaker 4: was really fun. It was a good time.
- 6:37Speaker 3: It was silly.
- 6:38Speaker 4: I'm sure they'll make more now because it probably made
- 6:40Speaker 4: a bunch of money.
- 6:41Speaker 3: But dude, if Jack Black was not in that movie, no,
- 6:44Speaker 3: it wouldn't work. It wouldn't be good.
- 6:46Speaker 4: I swear he was the pitch and then they were
- 6:48Speaker 4: like I and minecraft. I don't know, Yeah, it doesn't matter.
- 6:51Speaker 3: We have Jack Blie. Jasimo was great in parts, but
- 6:55Speaker 3: otherwise I was like, if he was just gonna be
- 6:57Speaker 3: like leading that movie, it would not have work.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Well his character is kind of like a douche to
- 7:04Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, so but yeah, I don't know. I really
- 7:09Speaker 4: had a good time.
- 7:09Speaker 3: It was fun. That's good. This is a silly good
- 7:11Speaker 3: time for sure. How about you? What are you streaming?
- 7:14Speaker 3: I'm streaming something that I know you've been streaming because
- 7:17Speaker 3: we've watched a little bit of or talked a little
- 7:19Speaker 3: bit about it. But one of my favorite shows that
- 7:22Speaker 3: come out in a while is The Studio on Apple TV.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Plus oh yeah, iven't.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Actually talked about it on here. It feels like a
- 7:32Speaker 3: smarter version of Entourage in the sense that it's the
- 7:36Speaker 3: behind the scenes of the entertainment industry, and it opens
- 7:40Speaker 3: itself up to a bunch of fun star cameos. So
- 7:45Speaker 3: many in the first couple of episodes we saw Martin Scorsese,
- 7:49Speaker 3: Brian Cranston, Katherine O'Hara. I think, is she's more more
- 7:53Speaker 3: than Yeah, Greta Lee, Ron Howard, Olivia Wilde more. It's crazy.
- 8:02Speaker 3: But then just like the cast, you got seth Rogen
- 8:05Speaker 3: and Catherine Hahn and Ike Barnholds such a good time.
- 8:09Speaker 3: The coolest thing is that they're doing these incredibly long
- 8:12Speaker 3: one shot takes, which you know, I'm a sucker for.
- 8:17Speaker 3: And I've also heard that that adolescent show is like
- 8:20Speaker 3: all one shot.
- 8:21Speaker 4: I heard that too, But that doesn't sound nearly I know, yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 3: It sounds more intense for sure. But yeah, the second episode,
- 8:30Speaker 3: I know we've talked about, but the entire forty plus
- 8:34Speaker 3: minute episode was done in one take, and it was
- 8:39Speaker 3: also just the cringiest finished you stopped it in the
- 8:43Speaker 3: middle of it.
- 8:44Speaker 4: I haven't finished it.
- 8:46Speaker 3: It was so cringey.
- 8:47Speaker 4: I was just like, I can't. I can't handle this
- 8:50Speaker 4: right now.
- 8:50Speaker 3: I got to get out here. In the most recent episode,
- 8:55Speaker 3: I think it's five or six now, but the one
- 8:57Speaker 3: that just came out also super cringe, like he's really
- 9:03Speaker 3: laying into the crew.
- 9:05Speaker 4: It's really good at it. It was just that night
- 9:07Speaker 4: because I think because I'd watched the first episode and
- 9:10Speaker 4: I was like just rolling through and I was like, no,
- 9:13Speaker 4: I don't. This isn't a roll through, not on this
- 9:15Speaker 4: one for me.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Oh, you just feel embarrassed, just like, dude, no, stop it.
- 9:23Speaker 3: He just keeps making the wrong so great though.
- 9:26Speaker 4: It's so funny though, I mean, it's funny.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm loving it. It's really cool.
- 9:32Speaker 4: He had a cool interview to Seth Rogan about He
- 9:34Speaker 4: was like, everybody can do edits now, so these one
- 9:37Speaker 4: shots are like a sign of actual having money and
- 9:41Speaker 4: doing like a professional show now. And I was like, oh,
- 9:43Speaker 4: that's kind of interesting. It's a cool take on it,
- 9:46Speaker 4: you know, as to why they seem like they're really
- 9:49Speaker 4: prevalent right now. Ish you know, but yeah.
- 9:52Speaker 3: They're cool. Yeah, they're super hard to pull off. I
- 9:55Speaker 3: can't believe they're all doing them. Yeah, dude, I mean
- 9:58Speaker 3: it just takes so much more up and yeah, patience,
- 10:03Speaker 3: it would just I would be the guy at the
- 10:05Speaker 3: end of the forty minute take that's like and then
- 10:08Speaker 3: I lie and then.
- 10:12Speaker 4: No yeah, no no, yeah, but uh that's awesome. I
- 10:18Speaker 4: love it. I can't wait to watch your rest.
- 10:19Speaker 3: But yeah, man, it's something. Yeah, it's not currently done,
- 10:24Speaker 3: but I think I think there's six episodes out currently.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Nice are they doing? I suppose you don't know, probably
- 10:29Speaker 4: ten or something.
- 10:30Speaker 3: I would guess. I haven't looked it up.
- 10:32Speaker 4: I don't know either.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Yeah, just eight to ten though. Nice? Well love that.

- 11:59Speaker 4: But we're here to to talk about a great little film.
- 12:01Speaker 4: That is what are we thirty five years old from
- 12:04Speaker 4: nineteen ninety correct, Well, this is a movie called Joe
- 12:09Speaker 4: Versus the Volcano head to head match Sunday Sunday Sunday,
- 12:18Speaker 4: like they're fighting. Yeah, but this is a whimsical movie,
- 12:24Speaker 4: and so we had to get our most whimsical pawback
- 12:26Speaker 4: with us. Welcome him from the Land of Organ give
- 12:31Speaker 4: it up for everybody.

- 12:50Speaker 3: Just out there does oh nice?
- 12:54Speaker 4: Hopefully on none of the i'n tall on vegetation right,
- 12:58Speaker 4: none of the animals so far, so far.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Nobody mouthed off yet. Good good good.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Yeah, you got to keep them in line, but you
- 13:05Speaker 4: don't want to do it right.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Last resort they make you.
- 13:10Speaker 4: That's fun. We're happy to have you here. Also happy
- 13:14Speaker 4: to get out and see that beautiful.

- 13:22Speaker 4: and tenth coming up.

- 13:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not booked, but we will be.
- 13:29Speaker 4: I have it in my calendar, that is. It's a
- 13:32Speaker 4: long way down the road.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Yep.
- 13:35Speaker 4: It's super super fun. You guys check it out if
- 13:37Speaker 4: you're thinking about it, and go to Tim Fuss music

- 13:49Speaker 4: It's music, it's food, it's general tom foolery. It's really lovely.
- 13:54Speaker 3: It's a very camp on your property. It's like, oh yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 3: it's really great.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Excited for it, so check it out, check it out.
- 14:05Speaker 4: But we're here today to talk about a wonderful film,
- 14:07Speaker 4: Joe Versus the Volcano YEP.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Which is old. I didn't know it was that old.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Thirty five years I figured I figured it was old.
- 14:17Speaker 3: It feels old.
- 14:18Speaker 4: I only vaguely remembered this movie. But we're going into
- 14:21Speaker 4: all that. Rob started with a rough SYNOPSI I would
- 14:25Speaker 4: love to.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Okay, Joe Banks is dying. Apparently this is good news,
- 14:31Speaker 3: since his life is not much worth living anyway. On
- 14:34Speaker 3: the upside, a strange millionaire offers Joe a way to
- 14:37Speaker 3: die with meaning and dignity by hurling himself into a volcano.
- 14:42Speaker 3: With plenty of spending cash and an ensemble of new luggage,
- 14:46Speaker 3: Joe embarks on an absurdist journey to his demise, guided
- 14:50Speaker 3: by two very disparate sisters and trying to puzzle out
- 14:54Speaker 3: the meaning of existence.
- 14:59Speaker 4: All right, just that that's all he's trying to do.
- 15:01Speaker 3: That's all he's trying to do. I love it.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Let's go to Rotten to models and here, but they
- 15:05Speaker 4: have to say. Critics have is coming in at a
- 15:06Speaker 4: rock solid sixty six percent.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, before rewatching this, I would have guessed that,
- 15:14Speaker 3: but now after the rewatch, I'm surprised.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Yeah, me too. It sounds like a critics kind of movie. Yeah,
- 15:21Speaker 4: you know, there's a lot of nuance to it.
- 15:23Speaker 3: It's interesting.
- 15:24Speaker 4: Audience members liked it less. They have it at fifty
- 15:27Speaker 4: four percent.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a little wild. That's low. It's very low.
- 15:33Speaker 3: It's low.
- 15:33Speaker 2: I thought it would have been more of a crowd pleaser.
- 15:36Speaker 4: But I think it's important to know what we think.
- 15:38Speaker 4: So let's go into our hot take.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Hot take. That's a hot take. That's a hot take. Hot. Yeah,
- 15:48Speaker 3: it's so hot, nice timely.
- 15:51Speaker 4: Yeah, good for you, for you. I'll go first on
- 15:54Speaker 4: this one. I don't think i'd ever seen this movie before.
- 15:57Speaker 4: I've definitely seen pieces of it before, but I think
- 16:02Speaker 4: I just was a little too young to actually understand
- 16:04Speaker 4: what was going on or have watched the whole thing.
- 16:07Speaker 4: I thought this was a lovely film. I really enjoyed
- 16:10Speaker 4: it a lot. It is a farce, which is, you know,
- 16:13Speaker 4: very fun. I enjoyed those kind of movies. They've got
- 16:17Speaker 4: some great music in this movie, Like the soundtrack is wonderful.
- 16:22Speaker 3: And I think I saw the director did some of
- 16:25Speaker 3: the music too, he wrote some of the score. Oh really,
- 16:27Speaker 3: that's fun.
- 16:28Speaker 4: I miss that. That's really cool, really really great stuff.
- 16:33Speaker 4: It is one of those you know films that like
- 16:35Speaker 4: it seems silly and you know, kind of surface levely
- 16:39Speaker 4: at first, and then you get into it, like they're
- 16:41Speaker 4: tackling some big questions here. You know, this is akin
- 16:45Speaker 4: to well, all the books that he says, right, like
- 16:47Speaker 4: Romeo and Juliet, Yeah, which I think is super fun.
- 16:51Speaker 4: That was, but they really are covering all those things.
- 16:54Speaker 4: It's all about people that are choosing to live a
- 16:58Speaker 4: different life for however long they have left. And more
- 17:01Speaker 4: and more as I age, those types of movies with
- 17:04Speaker 4: those messages really mean something to me. So I really
- 17:06Speaker 4: had a great time watching this. I can't believe it's
- 17:09Speaker 4: rated so low, Like you said, Rob, after seeing it now,
- 17:13Speaker 4: it is silly and weird, but in the best ways,
- 17:17Speaker 4: I guess to me now and I really thought they had,
- 17:20Speaker 4: like the director really put in some some very like
- 17:24Speaker 4: cool artsy choices in it, you know, like the cityscape
- 17:28Speaker 4: and stuff looked really interesting. There was a lot of
- 17:31Speaker 4: like saturation of colors and things and interesting motifs.
- 17:35Speaker 3: And just random fake hammerhead shark that was so good.
- 17:41Speaker 4: I was giggling away at that, Like the whole the
- 17:45Speaker 4: people on the island were what did they say? I
- 17:48Speaker 4: can't remember the line, but they're like they were Jews
- 17:51Speaker 4: and there were something else, and then they got there
- 17:53Speaker 4: and they're doing like a Polynesian version of Havanaguila like
- 17:58Speaker 4: all these things, which is really fun. I just thought
- 18:00Speaker 4: it was a really a really interesting, silly, fun movie
- 18:05Speaker 4: that was. It was a great time. I really enjoyed
- 18:07Speaker 4: it a lot with some great acting. I thought it
- 18:11Speaker 4: was interesting the scene where he uh, where he goes
- 18:16Speaker 4: and like buys all the trinkets that he ends up
- 18:18Speaker 4: using later in the trip and stuff. Yeah, he's Tom
- 18:22Speaker 4: Hanks is absolutely doing his own voiceover for that scene,
- 18:24Speaker 4: which is really funny because they try to make it,
- 18:27Speaker 4: I think, sound like it's someone else. He puts on
- 18:30Speaker 4: like a little bit of a voice, but it's definitely
- 18:31Speaker 4: just him, so it seems like it was maybe like
- 18:35Speaker 4: a little bit of a rough and ready budget, you know,
- 18:37Speaker 4: lower budget film that they just made happen, which I
- 18:40Speaker 4: really like. I don't know, I really enjoyed it a lot.
- 18:45Speaker 4: I guess that's my hottest take.
- 18:46Speaker 3: It was fun hot take. Hat we have such a
- 18:51Speaker 3: similar take. So I saw it when I was a kid,
- 18:54Speaker 3: and I didn't get it. Honestly, I don't know if
- 18:58Speaker 3: I got past the beginning with the horrible fluorescent lighting
- 19:02Speaker 3: in that office, because everything else kind of seemed new
- 19:06Speaker 3: to me. Sure, So this is the first time I've
- 19:09Speaker 3: seen it in probably thirty years. I was so pleasantly
- 19:13Speaker 3: surprised by it. It feels kind of like a movie
- 19:16Speaker 3: fairy tale, kind of like a princess bride's kind of vibe.
- 19:21Speaker 3: It's written and directed by John Patrick Shanley, who I
- 19:24Speaker 3: knew because he wrote and directed the amazing drama Doubt
- 19:28Speaker 3: with Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Meryl Street, Amy Adams, Viola Davis.
- 19:34Speaker 3: You should see it. It's much more intense than this movie,
- 19:37Speaker 3: way more intense. But yeah, this was the beginning of
- 19:41Speaker 3: the Tom Hanks Meg Ryan collaboration. We have seen several
- 19:45Speaker 3: times in Love I think I thought this movie was
- 19:49Speaker 3: really dark when I was a kid, but it's just
- 19:53Speaker 3: so much more silly than dark.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Sure.
- 19:56Speaker 3: I like the theme of needing to get out of
- 19:58Speaker 3: your head and live life to its full. It makes
- 20:00Speaker 3: you feel good. They kind of hit you over the
- 20:03Speaker 3: head with some of the themes. It's it's uh, you know,
- 20:07Speaker 3: they put the b in subtle a little bit, like,
- 20:10Speaker 3: you know, his shoe is messed up and he's like,
- 20:12Speaker 3: I'm losing my soul. But there's like a bunch of
- 20:16Speaker 3: symbolism throughout, you know, there's a lightning bolt that you
- 20:21Speaker 3: see throughout the whole thing, Like the shape of the
- 20:24Speaker 3: path to work is a lightning bolt, the company sign
- 20:27Speaker 3: is a lightning bolt, obviously, the boat getting hit with
- 20:31Speaker 3: the lightning bolt, and then the path up to the volcano.
- 20:34Speaker 5: Also in his apartment, the big crack on the wall
- 20:37Speaker 5: is that same shape too.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Yeah. Oh, I don't think I noticed that, which is cool.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I like that. Yeah, So that was interesting. And all
- 20:46Speaker 3: three versions of Meg Ryan they grabbed his hand and
- 20:50Speaker 3: the first one, Didi kept a closed fist, which was
- 20:53Speaker 3: kind of the only reason I noticed it because it
- 20:55Speaker 3: was so weird. And then the second version like gives
- 20:58Speaker 3: him a handshake, but that it's like it, and then
- 21:01Speaker 3: the last one like actually like fully accepts him, and
- 21:06Speaker 3: I thought it was kind of interesting what they were
- 21:08Speaker 3: doing there. But yeah, hot take. I liked this film
- 21:12Speaker 3: so much more than I remembered. And it's one of
- 21:14Speaker 3: the many reasons I love doing this podcast because I
- 21:17Speaker 3: get to enjoy old movies that I didn't.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Know I liked, nice hot hot take take, Hey, what
- 21:24Speaker 4: do you got?
- 21:24Speaker 3: What's your hot take?
- 21:25Speaker 5: Pretty similar to y'all as far as as heat and
- 21:28Speaker 5: temperature there, I didn't think several times. Let's see, So
- 21:33Speaker 5: it was in nineteen ninety, so I would have been
- 21:34Speaker 5: thirteen when it came out, and so similar to when
- 21:37Speaker 5: we talked about The Burbs, it hit me at a
- 21:39Speaker 5: really impressionable time.
- 21:42Speaker 2: And you know, we had the taped off TV VHS cassette.
- 21:46Speaker 5: With Joe Versus written on it, and so it was
- 21:48Speaker 5: one of those things put on like homestick from school
- 21:51Speaker 5: type thing, along with Princess Bride. Yeah, and like you
- 21:55Speaker 5: mentioned the Hammerhead Shark, I appreciated more the absurdity of it.
- 21:59Speaker 5: I feel like it keeps it from aging poorly because
- 22:03Speaker 5: they're like they're not trying to trick you with special effects.
- 22:06Speaker 5: It's like, clearly, Okay, this is where you suspend your disbelief.
- 22:09Speaker 5: This is a fairy tale play along. And so that
- 22:13Speaker 5: stepped me a little more. And then also, as Rob
- 22:16Speaker 5: mentioned the early parts the gray scene, I didn't realize
- 22:20Speaker 5: that basically just the last twenty minutes of the movie
- 22:22Speaker 5: they're on the volcano. It's pretty late into the story
- 22:26Speaker 5: that they actually yeah, the volcano shows up. It's in
- 22:29Speaker 5: the title of the movie. And so I appreciate that more,
- 22:32Speaker 5: the pacing of it, the time to let it breathe,
- 22:35Speaker 5: time for those big cinematic shots.
- 22:37Speaker 2: And things like that.
- 22:39Speaker 5: We're pretty fun and like you said, pretty heavy handed,
- 22:41Speaker 5: but like in a playful way, like not so serious,
- 22:44Speaker 5: and so I think it's more palatable because of that.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Sure love that. Yeah, I totally agree with that. Hot
- 22:52Speaker 3: take hot, super hot.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Love it should we talk about our favorite acting performance and.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Shall I him the dude? Dude?
- 23:02Speaker 6: I'm the dude, So that's what you call me, you
- 23:05Speaker 6: know that, or his dudeness or duder or you know,
- 23:11Speaker 6: el dud reno. If you're not into the whole brevity thing, Okay, hey, what.
- 23:15Speaker 5: Do you got for your dude, I'm going to go
- 23:18Speaker 5: do that here and go with Meg Ryan and her characters.
- 23:23Speaker 5: It's it's fun to see, you know, her is a
- 23:25Speaker 5: through line, but these different characters she's playing and just
- 23:28Speaker 5: seeing how she gives you those almost exaggerated versions of
- 23:32Speaker 5: the first two to set up the third full person
- 23:37Speaker 5: and yeah, so that's She's so easy to watch for me,
- 23:43Speaker 5: you know, especially that era of her where she was
- 23:46Speaker 5: a lot of ways kind of typifies that late eighties
- 23:48Speaker 5: early nineties like mannic Pixie dream girl as they would
- 23:53Speaker 5: call her these days.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Right, yes, yeah, yeah, I love that.
- 23:58Speaker 5: I found myself having three different crushes the same actress
- 24:01Speaker 5: in the in the.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Movie, absolutely, dude. Yeah, I had such a crush on
- 24:05Speaker 3: her back in the day, and it was so weird
- 24:09Speaker 3: seeing her with those brown contacts that like totally changed
- 24:13Speaker 3: her whole It was weird, right, it was weird. It
- 24:17Speaker 3: freaked me out. But yeah, I also picked her and
- 24:22Speaker 3: for all the reasons you say. The different voices were
- 24:24Speaker 3: really fun. I didn't know that she like had those,
- 24:27Speaker 3: you know, it was so funny.
- 24:28Speaker 4: The first time I was like, why are we doing this?
- 24:31Speaker 4: And then I was like, oh I get it. Yeah, like,
- 24:37Speaker 4: what big swing here? Good?
- 24:39Speaker 3: Her second la one was so goofy deeper and I
- 24:45Speaker 3: was into it. Yeah, big meg Ryan Fan, I'm with you.
- 24:49Speaker 4: That's great, clean sweep here. I'm with y'all. I thought
- 24:53Speaker 4: she really also, like you said, rob the with the
- 24:56Speaker 4: holding of the hands and the three different ways that happened.
- 25:00Speaker 4: M hmm, I thought, was like really indicative of how
- 25:05Speaker 4: this film, like it did hit you over the head
- 25:07Speaker 4: with themes, and then also it snuck in some as
- 25:10Speaker 4: well when it wasn't being absurd, because yea, at least
- 25:13Speaker 4: to me, that felt like, we also are going to
- 25:16Speaker 4: meet people along the you know, the route of life
- 25:18Speaker 4: that are either willing to go with us on this
- 25:21Speaker 4: travels or aren't but can still be beautiful and we
- 25:24Speaker 4: can have a moment with them, you know, like the
- 25:26Speaker 4: one was closed off, she couldn't quite commit, the other
- 25:29Speaker 4: one had stuff going on she wanted to but wasn't
- 25:32Speaker 4: quite there. And then the third one, you know, was
- 25:34Speaker 4: a little bit closer to where he was on his
- 25:37Speaker 4: you know path.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Which I was like, after her dream was done and
- 25:42Speaker 3: she was ready to jump in with him and exactly, yeah,
- 25:46Speaker 3: which is really cool.
- 25:47Speaker 4: So I loved it and I'm with you, guys. She
- 25:50Speaker 4: was just wonderful, really clean, sweet.
- 25:52Speaker 3: But you know, Tom Hanks, he was so much fun
- 25:55Speaker 3: in this too. It kind of reminded me like once
- 26:00Speaker 3: he had his brain cloud and knew he was, you know,
- 26:04Speaker 3: going to do what he was doing. He kind of
- 26:06Speaker 3: felt like his character in Big a bit. Sure. Sure,
- 26:11Speaker 3: I saw a lot of Big in his performance.
- 26:16Speaker 4: But it's funny early on. I was getting a lot
- 26:19Speaker 4: of separency vibes early on with like how much he
- 26:23Speaker 4: hated the job and like that long hair and you know, sure,
- 26:27Speaker 4: all the all the vibes there, which was kind of fun.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Yeah, but he's so great. I love him.
- 26:33Speaker 4: They're wonderful together too, they really are. It makes sense
- 26:36Speaker 4: why they made so many movies together.
- 26:38Speaker 3: So much chemistry.
- 26:39Speaker 5: Yeah, there was some moments where it felt like there
- 26:41Speaker 5: was a little bit of a smirk between the actors
- 26:43Speaker 5: as they're having fun with the performances too, and almost
- 26:47Speaker 5: like almost like an SNL cast member almost cracking, you know,
- 26:49Speaker 5: he say a little twinkle in their eye.
- 26:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, totally, which is so lovely to say.
- 26:55Speaker 3: I like that.
- 26:56Speaker 4: That's great, clean sweep, nicely done. Let's talk about the
- 27:00Speaker 4: rest of the folks, shall we name the Ducci World?
- 27:04Speaker 3: Sure for this one, eh.
- 27:06Speaker 5: I'm going with mister Wapooti as my Tucci the boss,
- 27:11Speaker 5: and that's the first act. It's just it's so pitch
- 27:16Speaker 5: perfect as far as you know, unlikability, like it really
- 27:20Speaker 5: you know, gives you a great villain to start things
- 27:22Speaker 5: out with, to sort of typify as you said that
- 27:25Speaker 5: that severance motif.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Of like get my job.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Everything's gray or.
- 27:29Speaker 5: Fluorescent lighting and yes, you know, just he just really
- 27:34Speaker 5: like choose up the scenery so well, which is you know,
- 27:36Speaker 5: saying something when you're on screen with Tom Hanks.
- 27:38Speaker 4: It's so great.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that's just like gives me a.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Good so funny. That's Dan Hideya And so I always
- 27:50Speaker 3: think of him as like the dad and clueless or
- 27:55Speaker 3: what's the other one First Wives Club, he's one of
- 27:57Speaker 3: the husbands in that. But yeah, I would like definitely
- 28:03Speaker 3: think of him for this role, like he really stands out.
- 28:07Speaker 3: He's perfect. It's incredible. Yeah, yeah, I had him way
- 28:13Speaker 3: up there as well. I went with Abe Vigoda because
- 28:15Speaker 3: that was one that I remembered when I was a kid,
- 28:18Speaker 3: and I remembered him as the old guy and look
- 28:21Speaker 3: who's talking to I was like, I think I put
- 28:23Speaker 3: that together that that was the same guy, and I
- 28:26Speaker 3: was like excited about it. But it's so funny, man.
- 28:30Speaker 3: I loved that that they showed that it was like
- 28:33Speaker 3: the Jewish folks out there and what it just made
- 28:37Speaker 3: it so to ad for no reason, which was great.
- 28:43Speaker 3: But it was so good and you can't be like, oh,
- 28:45Speaker 3: well this doesn't age well because they're on this island,
- 28:49Speaker 3: explain it. Oh god, it's funny. They like rite it away.
- 28:54Speaker 3: They're like, no, don't worry about it. You're fine. Yeah. Yeah,
- 28:57Speaker 3: I was into it.
- 28:58Speaker 2: And did you notice that Nathan Lane also as one
- 29:01Speaker 2: of the natives and.
- 29:02Speaker 3: There so so good. God, he was great.
- 29:07Speaker 4: I love him. Fun to see Robert Stack for a
- 29:11Speaker 4: hot minute in this movie.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Rescue nine one one guy.
- 29:14Speaker 4: That crazy voice.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Yeah he was the guy who did rescue nine Ye.
- 29:18Speaker 4: Well, I think so that's what I feel like.
- 29:19Speaker 3: I was one of those or unsolved mysteries. Maybe it
- 29:23Speaker 3: was that right when I said rescue nine one one,
- 29:26Speaker 3: I was like no, because he would always be like,
- 29:29Speaker 3: if you know the location, yeah, wasn't it him? I
- 29:33Speaker 3: think anyway? I think he was an airplane.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Also, he was.
- 29:37Speaker 4: Definitely an airplay. Yeah, that's a good call. YEP, for sure.
- 29:41Speaker 3: That's really funny. Did you find it? He said? They
- 29:45Speaker 3: said Rescue nine on one was William Shatner. Really, I
- 29:50Speaker 3: don't remember that, but probably hosted Unsolved Mysteries. That's Robert Stack.
- 29:57Speaker 3: You were right. Okay, you're right.
- 30:00Speaker 4: I was with you when you said it at first,
- 30:01Speaker 4: and I was like, wait, but he always says something like, yeah,
- 30:04Speaker 4: we don't know what.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Happened mystery still Yeah, that makes sense. But as soon
- 30:09Speaker 3: as I said, I was like, I don't think I'm right.
- 30:11Speaker 4: Yeah, something has gone wrong.
- 30:14Speaker 3: But I made a terrible mistake him.
- 30:16Speaker 4: He's got that crazy voice and he basically did that
- 30:19Speaker 4: in everything I ever heard him in, which.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Ye fair play. I would too.
- 30:25Speaker 4: Lloyd Bridges also was wonderful, as it turns out, a
- 30:29Speaker 4: terrible devil like character. Yeah, it's just tricking people into
- 30:35Speaker 4: killing themselves be rich in things.
- 30:38Speaker 3: It's pretty cood. Yeah. This guy, he goes to the
- 30:41Speaker 3: doctor all the time. He's a hypochondriac. He doesn't live anyway.
- 30:44Speaker 4: The guy, he's fine, we'll get him, he'll buy some
- 30:48Speaker 4: stuff first, it'll be great. Yeah, and he said his
- 30:53Speaker 4: daughter right, doesn't have a great relationship with any of
- 30:56Speaker 4: his daughters, it seems, so it's interesting. Also, I didn't
- 31:01Speaker 4: know if because the two daughters were related, were we
- 31:03Speaker 4: supposed to believe the other one was like a other
- 31:06Speaker 4: daughter that we didn't know anything about.
- 31:09Speaker 3: I didn't feel that way. To do you feel that way?
- 31:13Speaker 5: I hadn't thought about that, But now my mind's kind
- 31:15Speaker 5: of racing on it, Like how deep was the con
- 31:18Speaker 5: because the one little plot point, not that this is
- 31:20Speaker 5: a plot point movie, but it was like, how did
- 31:22Speaker 5: they set him up with that doctor? How do they
- 31:24Speaker 5: get Joe to go to a doctor that doesn't see
- 31:27Speaker 5: anybody else?
- 31:28Speaker 2: But that could maybe be the keep it unlocks that?
- 31:32Speaker 3: Sure, Yeah, I like that. I like that.
- 31:36Speaker 4: But yeah, Lloyd Burgess was great. And then that Ozzie Davis,
- 31:39Speaker 4: the driver guy, he.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Was really wonderful. He was wonderful. That's a cool scene.
- 31:45Speaker 3: It's fun.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Those were kind of all the ones I had written
- 31:48Speaker 4: down though, same what we said?
- 31:51Speaker 3: Same? Did you did you have anybody else? A if
- 31:53Speaker 3: you want to talk about.
- 31:54Speaker 5: I think we covered my performances. I I think it
- 31:57Speaker 5: was Carol Caine that had little brief appearance in there too.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Yes, dude, it's the hair dresser and she was, and
- 32:04Speaker 3: she was in it for like nine seconds. Yeah, and
- 32:08Speaker 3: I think I saw that she did it like she
- 32:11Speaker 3: didn't even put her name in the credits. It was
- 32:13Speaker 3: like a faith game. Yeah, weird. I don't know what
- 32:17Speaker 3: they're going for there, but.
- 32:18Speaker 4: A contract thing. I feel like sometimes they play games
- 32:21Speaker 4: with that or.
- 32:21Speaker 3: I don't know, maybe she just didn't have anything to
- 32:23Speaker 3: do that day and it was like, I'll be there address.
- 32:25Speaker 4: He's so recognizable for some reason.
- 32:28Speaker 3: I don't know why.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Yeah, it probably is the voice.
- 32:31Speaker 3: You're right, but crazy voice. She's great.
- 32:34Speaker 4: It's a good call.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Nice. Well, why don't we talk about some of the scenes,
- 32:38Speaker 3: and let's choose the Dingus the.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Sodas.
- 32:43Speaker 3: It's quite simple really Ingus Dingus.
- 32:45Speaker 4: I could talk about my Dingus all night long.
- 32:48Speaker 3: Her favorite scene, abe, so.
- 32:50Speaker 5: My Dingus is that that first opening sequence at the factory.
- 32:56Speaker 3: You know you have that yeah.
- 32:57Speaker 5: Sixteen tons song going, and yeah, I like that. They
- 33:02Speaker 5: let it breathe, They take their time with it. It's like,
- 33:04Speaker 5: I don't know if it's an actual tracking shot, but
- 33:06Speaker 5: just following him, you know, from parking lot to desk
- 33:10Speaker 5: and just the drudgery, the flower in the concrete, which
- 33:14Speaker 5: you know, if you want to use a heavy handed symbolism, yes,
- 33:18Speaker 5: and you know, the soul, all all those things. Really
- 33:21Speaker 5: it's you know, I was trying to see it for
- 33:23Speaker 5: the first time again, and you know, you don't know
- 33:25Speaker 5: where it's going to go from there, but it's you know,
- 33:27Speaker 5: there's it's setting up something big, some some big change,
- 33:31Speaker 5: and so it's it's a fun ride and just so
- 33:33Speaker 5: well executed with that stupid path that goes, you know,
- 33:37Speaker 5: in a non straight.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Line, and you know, all the grays, the lights.
- 33:42Speaker 5: I did notice this time, rewatching in high depth on
- 33:46Speaker 5: a big screen, the some of the background stuff that
- 33:50Speaker 5: I hadn't noticed or at least remembered from first seeing it,
- 33:53Speaker 5: and that that was cool to see, just like the
- 33:55Speaker 5: various medical model things on.
- 33:57Speaker 3: The walls and.
- 34:00Speaker 5: Too that I might not have noticed on our nineteenish
- 34:02Speaker 5: magnavox back in the day.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Sure home of the rectal Probe or whatever it was.
- 34:12Speaker 4: The testicles, the like prosthetic testicles. He's just playing with
- 34:16Speaker 4: them on his desk, like.
- 34:18Speaker 2: The Loue pump that he's filling cans with.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Yeh, yeah, yeah, totally, yeah, that was gross.
- 34:25Speaker 4: I thought that he steps in like four different puzzles
- 34:28Speaker 4: or puddles.
- 34:28Speaker 3: To Yeah, and then they had that crazy shot. It
- 34:33Speaker 3: was probably tough to do back then too. I was wondering, Yeah,
- 34:36Speaker 3: they like go way up, you know when he looks
- 34:39Speaker 3: up total after he's stepped.
- 34:41Speaker 4: In the puddle, big crane shot or something.
- 34:43Speaker 3: Yeah, had to have been yeah, pre drone definitely definitely, Yeah,
- 34:49Speaker 3: I definitely had that up there as well. I went
- 34:53Speaker 3: with the quitting scene. I love the quitting scene. That
- 34:56Speaker 3: was so much fun to see him get all excited
- 34:59Speaker 3: because he's just been so miserable leading up to that
- 35:04Speaker 3: point and him like kind of realizing like, yeah, I'm done,
- 35:08Speaker 3: I'm done with this out. I've sold you my soul
- 35:11Speaker 3: for three hundred bucks a week, and also I would
- 35:16Speaker 3: like to take you out, lady, or you know. It
- 35:19Speaker 3: was just so much fun. All of it was, and
- 35:21Speaker 3: that's why we're doing it for our Top five draft.
- 35:24Speaker 4: So I like too that he had the physical comedy,
- 35:27Speaker 4: like with the fake arm and all that stuff too,
- 35:29Speaker 4: and that scene which was really fun.
- 35:31Speaker 3: You know before he was fighting with that and it
- 35:33Speaker 3: was just such a Tom Hanks delivery too, and he's
- 35:35Speaker 3: like I can feel it, just like sucking my eyeballs
- 35:38Speaker 3: or whatever. He's just so Tom Hanks to love that.
- 35:45Speaker 4: Well, we already mentioned it, but I did love the
- 35:47Speaker 4: fishing scene as well, just for pure silliness.
- 35:51Speaker 3: He's so silly. I thought was really great.
- 35:53Speaker 4: You know, she's catching fish after fish.
- 35:56Speaker 3: And real fish, so we assume he's going to be
- 35:59Speaker 3: catching something. And then I love their.
- 36:03Speaker 4: Choice to just make it the goofiest looking shark, too possible.
- 36:07Speaker 4: It's so wonderful.
- 36:09Speaker 3: I really liked it a lot. I thought that was good.
- 36:12Speaker 4: Uh, and then that the Hollywood Date. I really liked
- 36:15Speaker 4: the Hollywood Date. I thought that was really lovely.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Yeah, she explained to her poem and.
- 36:20Speaker 4: Stuff, she's super weird and it's just so weird.
- 36:24Speaker 3: Would you like me to read it again?
- 36:26Speaker 4: Yeah, One Life, Sure, yes I would. And then just
- 36:34Speaker 4: any movie that's kind of like that Brewsters Millions, a
- 36:37Speaker 4: kind of situation where someone's just like spend as much money.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's always fun. I was debating on
- 36:44Speaker 3: asking for that for a top five draft, like a
- 36:47Speaker 3: shop montage, because I feel like there's some good ones
- 36:51Speaker 3: and that was fun. It's a good call.
- 36:53Speaker 4: Yeah, that'd be a good one for the future for sure. Well, yeah,
- 36:56Speaker 4: it's just they're silly and fun.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Yeah, did you have any other on her upsade?
- 37:01Speaker 5: You mentioned the Hollywood scene, and so that that whole
- 37:05Speaker 5: sequence where you know, she she talks about how La
- 37:08Speaker 5: is horrible and I love it or something to that
- 37:10Speaker 5: effect when they're first driving through.
- 37:12Speaker 2: And also the.
- 37:13Speaker 5: Progression of the color is getting added to his life,
- 37:17Speaker 5: you know, and then you're an all and everything's color
- 37:18Speaker 5: and he's left that black and white life behind. And
- 37:22Speaker 5: so I think that kind of wake woke me up to,
- 37:24Speaker 5: you know, and you start realizing this excitements building, something
- 37:28Speaker 5: is coming still, So that was great.
- 37:30Speaker 2: And then when the natives greet.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Them on the island, yeah, fun, yes, and you.
- 37:37Speaker 5: Know you start realizing, okay, they have Ava Gooda and
- 37:39Speaker 5: Nathan Lane here, so this is going to continue on
- 37:42Speaker 5: the absurdity and the silliness. And you don't get to
- 37:44Speaker 5: say that's not realistic because they've already taken that away
- 37:46Speaker 5: from you.
- 37:47Speaker 2: And so I like that little trick that they flip.
- 37:51Speaker 3: And just drinking their their orange soda.
- 37:54Speaker 4: What was it called orange soda? Yeah, that's so good,
- 37:59Speaker 4: that's a that's neat.
- 38:02Speaker 5: You go so that is a reference, I believe to
- 38:06Speaker 5: what they call cargo culture and cargo cults that actually
- 38:09Speaker 5: happened like in the South Pacific around World War two
- 38:12Speaker 5: in particular, where they would have like misguided cargo that
- 38:15Speaker 5: would land on these islands of like isolated natives and
- 38:20Speaker 5: they would take whatever they found from these things and
- 38:22Speaker 5: basically they fold that into their religions and they're a
- 38:26Speaker 5: wild And so there's still islands out there that are
- 38:28Speaker 5: worshiping things like you know, soda cans and stuff because
- 38:31Speaker 5: that walked up on their shores as part of the
- 38:33Speaker 5: war effort.
- 38:35Speaker 3: Yeah. Wild, I've never.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Heard of that.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Cargo cults very neat. I'm into it. I want to
- 38:44Speaker 3: read more about that.
- 38:45Speaker 4: That's cool.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Yeah. On that volcano. I just I enjoyed the marriage scene.
- 38:51Speaker 3: I loved all of the dialogue in that and then
- 38:55Speaker 3: the jumping and getting spat out. It was just all fun.
- 39:00Speaker 3: He's just like do you and do you? Yeah?
- 39:03Speaker 4: We did it?
- 39:04Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, really fun.
- 39:08Speaker 4: I also liked the Lloyd Bridges scene where he's just
- 39:12Speaker 4: being the devil in retrospect, you know, like but he's
- 39:15Speaker 4: really I don't know, he's just so engaging in that scene.
- 39:18Speaker 4: I really thought that was fun when he's trying to
- 39:20Speaker 4: talk him into it and yeah, you tell me why
- 39:23Speaker 4: he needs him and all those things that that was cool.
- 39:25Speaker 3: That was fun. Well not but yeah, I would do
- 39:30Speaker 3: I would kind of do that whole opening. Yeah, seen
- 39:34Speaker 3: through the quitting scene. It's kind of a lot the
- 39:37Speaker 3: first twenty five minutes, first act, the first act. Yeah,
- 39:42Speaker 3: I love it.
- 39:42Speaker 4: I'm into it.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Well, it's been chosen nice. Let's talk about some of
- 39:46Speaker 3: these quotes.
- 39:47Speaker 4: Let's show me the money, show me the money, show
- 39:53Speaker 4: me the money.
- 39:56Speaker 3: What do you have for quotes?
- 39:57Speaker 2: Say?
- 39:58Speaker 5: So, the one that I kept coming back to is
- 40:00Speaker 5: maybe not the most pulled quote from it, but Rob
- 40:02Speaker 5: mentioned it earlier when he's doing his I quit freak
- 40:05Speaker 5: out and he asked Dede out to dinner and just
- 40:09Speaker 5: the delivery. It's such a simple exchange, but he says,
- 40:12Speaker 5: you know, dide how about dinner tonight? Yeah, okay, And
- 40:14Speaker 5: like how quickly she came with that comeback, and how
- 40:18Speaker 5: just sort of sweet. It was like that the feels
- 40:21Speaker 5: a bit and you know, there was a lot of
- 40:23Speaker 5: other ones I liked a lot, but that was the
- 40:25Speaker 5: one that I really settled on because it is a
- 40:28Speaker 5: pivotal moment too, you know where she's breaking out a
- 40:31Speaker 5: little bit. She's like, yeah, I like.
- 40:32Speaker 2: This version of you, and yeah, it made me feel good.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Yeah, that's cool. I love that too. I like that.
- 40:42Speaker 3: I had a few he is, Hi, Joe, what's with
- 40:45Speaker 3: the shoe? He said, I'm losing my soul. Yeah, I
- 40:48Speaker 3: just thought, like that really great. The second version of
- 40:53Speaker 3: Meg Ryan Jake, So what did you do before you
- 40:56Speaker 3: signed on with Daddy? He says, I was an advertising
- 40:59Speaker 3: librarian for medical supply company. Oh, I have no response
- 41:03Speaker 3: to that, which she's like, I enjoyed that a lot.
- 41:11Speaker 5: I used that line in my life occasionally as like
- 41:13Speaker 5: an inside joke with myself.
- 41:17Speaker 3: There's no response to that. It's good. It's good, but
- 41:20Speaker 3: Kenny do the job. I know we can get the job,
- 41:23Speaker 3: but Kenny do the job. I'm not arguing that with you.
- 41:28Speaker 3: I'm not arguing that with you. It's so good. Just
- 41:32Speaker 3: over Harry, Harry, Yeah, Harry, but Kenny do the job.
- 41:39Speaker 3: Loved all of that so funny.
- 41:41Speaker 2: That was a close second for me.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Oh dude, he says it a hundred times. So though
- 41:48Speaker 3: it is really good. Towards the end, Yeah, when she's
- 41:55Speaker 3: saying pretty much getting married. It's like, Joe, nobody knows anything. Well,
- 42:00Speaker 3: take this leap and we'll see, will jump and we'll
- 42:02Speaker 3: see that's life. That's kind of felt like the main
- 42:07Speaker 3: theme of the movie too, you know, the ethos of
- 42:10Speaker 3: the whole thing.
- 42:11Speaker 4: Yea, yeah, kind of, Yeah, for sure.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Why don't you say some bukes?
- 42:16Speaker 4: Well, part of that scene that you said they talked
- 42:19Speaker 4: about getting married and then she's like, what's the problem.
- 42:22Speaker 4: Are you afraid of the commitment? You're gonna have to
- 42:24Speaker 4: love an honor me for about thirty seconds, yeah, because
- 42:27Speaker 4: they're just about to jump in.
- 42:30Speaker 3: I like that a lot. Okay, all right.
- 42:35Speaker 4: The interaction between Dan Hdea and Tom Hanks when he's like, Joe,
- 42:41Speaker 4: I want those catalogs and he's like, well, you insisted
- 42:44Speaker 4: that you had to be the one to order them,
- 42:46Speaker 4: so I don't know. If he's like I want them,
- 42:47Speaker 4: he's like, well, I agree, please order them that watch yourself, Joe.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Yeah, Like it just felt.
- 42:53Speaker 4: Like such a great you know, boss dynamic. You know,
- 42:57Speaker 4: that's what everybody thinks their boss is doing all the
- 43:00Speaker 4: But I'm just like, you make this so hard. I
- 43:02Speaker 4: don't know what you want from me, But I love that,
- 43:05Speaker 4: then please order them, sir. I also loved when he's like,
- 43:10Speaker 4: I'm not sick other than this terminal disease. The doctor
- 43:14Speaker 4: He's like, otherwise, I'm in perfect health. So that was funny.
- 43:18Speaker 4: Let's see, Oh Man the luggage guy. I should have
- 43:24Speaker 4: gave him a shout out. I don't know, but he
- 43:27Speaker 4: was so weird and great. But he was just like,
- 43:29Speaker 4: have you thought much about luggage, mister Banks? No, I
- 43:33Speaker 4: really never have. It's the central preoccupation.
- 43:36Speaker 3: Of my life.
- 43:38Speaker 4: And he just pants, it's so great. Is the central
- 43:44Speaker 4: preoccupation of my life?
- 43:46Speaker 3: All right, creeper, calm down? That was great? What else
- 43:53Speaker 3: do we get? I don't know.
- 43:59Speaker 4: I had some exchmalty ones. When he's talking about the
- 44:01Speaker 4: moon on the ocean, I thought that was lovely, yeah, dude,
- 44:05Speaker 4: Or even just when he's yeah, when he's talking.
- 44:07Speaker 3: To the moon, he's like, name, I do not know,
- 44:12Speaker 3: thank you for my life? I forgot how big? Thank you?
- 44:16Speaker 3: Thank you for my life? It was really I thought
- 44:19Speaker 3: that was wonderful. Moving. Yeah, agreed, that was beautiful.
- 44:23Speaker 5: Around that time too, Meg Ryan three, when he's he's
- 44:28Speaker 5: asking like, well, where are we going to go?
- 44:29Speaker 2: What's gonna happen? She just goes, It's always going to
- 44:32Speaker 2: be something with you, isn't it, Joe?
- 44:33Speaker 5: And that was really touching and like kind of, you know, funny,
- 44:38Speaker 5: but also kind of represents like that true love that
- 44:41Speaker 5: he's found with you know, that version of her too,
- 44:43Speaker 5: where she's like, I love you and it's always going
- 44:45Speaker 5: to be something with you.
- 44:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I love That did feel like a very old relationship, ye,
- 44:51Speaker 4: you know, like here we go.
- 44:53Speaker 3: And as soon as he finds out that he probably
- 44:57Speaker 3: got tricked and he's probably healthy, like immediately starts like
- 45:01Speaker 3: having a sniffle and just like he's going to go
- 45:04Speaker 3: back to his old ways, and she kind of hasks.
- 45:06Speaker 4: To snaps like, no, we're not doing that right.
- 45:09Speaker 3: It was fun. That's funny.
- 45:13Speaker 5: Oh and then brain cloud brain cloud. I don't know
- 45:17Speaker 5: if that counts as a quote or not. What's the
- 45:21Speaker 5: matter with you, Joe?
- 45:22Speaker 2: Brain cloud?
- 45:23Speaker 5: That's something that my family does to each other sometimes
- 45:26Speaker 5: when we do something.
- 45:29Speaker 3: I love that. That's good brain cloud. Yeah, and that's great.
- 45:34Speaker 3: He's like, I still have a problem. I have a
- 45:36Speaker 3: brain cloud. A brain cloud? What's a brain cloud? It's well,
- 45:39Speaker 3: maybe I should get a second opinion so good. You
- 45:43Speaker 3: didn't get a second opinion on something called a brain cloud?
- 45:47Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 45:47Speaker 3: Pretty good? Dumb.
- 45:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I can't remember who he even says it to.
- 45:54Speaker 4: That must be his boss. I guess you look like
- 45:56Speaker 4: a bag of stuffed in a cheap suit for.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Sure, mister oh Man. Yeah that was good to mean nice.
- 46:08Speaker 4: I think that was all the ones I wrote down, though.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't have any more. Did you have any more?
- 46:11Speaker 2: Aim? I'm going to make sure I didn't find anything else.
- 46:13Speaker 2: I think I think we hit them all. Yeah, losing
- 46:17Speaker 2: my soul? What's the night with you?
- 46:20Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 46:20Speaker 5: There was also I guess a quote that I came across.
- 46:23Speaker 5: It wasn't in the movie, but when I was looking,
- 46:24Speaker 5: I was thinking about the flower in the in the sidewalk,
- 46:26Speaker 5: because he was approaching and I was I think I
- 46:29Speaker 5: was trying to find a quote that i'd heard years
- 46:31Speaker 5: ago from a philosopher about that, like some people step
- 46:34Speaker 5: over a flower when an artist can write a.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Poem about it.
- 46:38Speaker 5: And as I was trying to find that, I didn't
- 46:40Speaker 5: quite find the one I wanted. But Hans Christian Anderson
- 46:42Speaker 5: said one that I thought applied to this movie pretty well,
- 46:44Speaker 5: where he says, just living is not enough. One must
- 46:47Speaker 5: have sunshine, freedom and a little flower. And I think
- 46:52Speaker 5: that that applies to Joe here too.
- 46:56Speaker 3: Otally. That's great.
- 46:57Speaker 4: I love that he like props it back up too
- 46:59Speaker 4: on his way, you know, like he's like trying to
- 47:01Speaker 4: cultivate that.
- 47:02Speaker 3: That's great. Nice. Well let's move to Bukesh moments a
- 47:10Speaker 3: crying game. I don't think he cried too much. There
- 47:12Speaker 3: were some. There were some sweet moments. The one that
- 47:16Speaker 3: I thought was the one that I mentioned with the
- 47:18Speaker 3: quotes where he says, dear God, whose name I do
- 47:21Speaker 3: not know, thank you for my life. I forgot how
- 47:23Speaker 3: big thank you. I loved that, but I mean me personally,
- 47:30Speaker 3: I didn't really get too emotional about anything else. It
- 47:34Speaker 3: is so silly for this story, you know. So that
- 47:38Speaker 3: was the one I picked, Abe, do you have any others?
- 47:40Speaker 3: So you thought he might have the hood.
- 47:44Speaker 5: The two the two quotes I mentioned when he asks
- 47:47Speaker 5: d d out to dinner and she says yeah, okay,
- 47:50Speaker 5: Like I said, that touched me so I thought maybe
- 47:51Speaker 5: it might get bugs too, and then I cry.
- 47:54Speaker 4: But I did like it. I loved how I'm with you,
- 47:57Speaker 4: like how quickly she was just like yep, I mean,
- 48:00Speaker 4: you know, and then.
- 48:01Speaker 5: As they're floating off into the moon set or whatever,
- 48:05Speaker 5: you know, just that that final scene where they're kind
- 48:07Speaker 5: of yielding to each other and being vulnerable.
- 48:11Speaker 2: I thought that might trigger something too.
- 48:13Speaker 4: Yeah, that definitely got me for sure. Nice, just the
- 48:16Speaker 4: sort of ending I'm kind of starting with the like
- 48:20Speaker 4: the line that we said of nobody knows anything. We
- 48:23Speaker 4: take this leap and we'll see, we'll jump and we'll see.
- 48:25Speaker 4: That's life. Like I like that too, And that got me,
- 48:28Speaker 4: Missy let me going.
- 48:31Speaker 3: There are two more oh wow, okay, yeah, more than
- 48:37Speaker 3: I thought it a five banger.
- 48:40Speaker 4: Yeah. So Meg Ryan too electric boogaloo. When she is
- 48:46Speaker 4: talking to him in the car and she's like or
- 48:49Speaker 4: he's talking about how he doesn't want to waste time
- 48:52Speaker 4: or any moments and she just says that I have
- 48:55Speaker 4: no response to that. But again, and like this time
- 48:59Speaker 4: not in a casting him a sideway.
- 49:02Speaker 3: But in like, I'm really seeing you the kind.
- 49:04Speaker 4: Of way, and I just, yeah, I don't know. I
- 49:06Speaker 4: loved that. I thought that was really well played by them.
- 49:09Speaker 4: So I liked that a lot. And then Meg Ryan
- 49:14Speaker 4: three the meganing when.
- 49:16Speaker 3: She says the meaning I'm sorry, I don't know what
- 49:20Speaker 3: you want from me.
- 49:21Speaker 4: When she's talking about she's so mad that she let
- 49:26Speaker 4: her dad dragger back into his like sort of lifestyle,
- 49:30Speaker 4: and she was like, I feel so ashamed because I
- 49:33Speaker 4: had a price. And I thought that was like a
- 49:35Speaker 4: really sure, that's a great part. I thought, I thought
- 49:38Speaker 4: that was really interesting. Again, they kind of snuck in
- 49:41Speaker 4: some like sincerity, you know, in spots, and I thought
- 49:45Speaker 4: that was one because he had convinced her basically with
- 49:48Speaker 4: the ship, right, because he knew she wanted this, this
- 49:51Speaker 4: fancy ship or whatever. But yeah, I had a price.
- 49:55Speaker 4: I thought that was really great. That got me nice.
- 49:59Speaker 3: So four fill was five, bro, five, you're right, it's five.
- 50:04Speaker 3: It's five counting. Sorry, it's okay, not great at it?
- 50:09Speaker 4: Okay at movie trivia? Should we do some of that? Yeah,
- 50:12Speaker 4: there wasn't a ton for this one, but I did
- 50:14Speaker 4: get a few. Not only did Meg Ryan play all
- 50:17Speaker 4: three female leads, but she also was the voice of
- 50:20Speaker 4: the flight attendant welcoming the flight to Los Angeles. So
- 50:23Speaker 4: I thought that was fun.
- 50:24Speaker 3: Oh, I don't think I noticed that. I didn't notice it.
- 50:26Speaker 4: In time, that's for sure, or at the time the
- 50:30Speaker 4: lamp that Joe brings into his office. I thought was
- 50:33Speaker 4: fun that it displays all the future events in the movie,
- 50:36Speaker 4: including the yacht a volcano with that's the twisting road
- 50:41Speaker 4: right but is throughout the whole thing. And then the
- 50:44Speaker 4: large full moon is also on that lamp, which I
- 50:46Speaker 4: thought was fun.
- 50:48Speaker 3: That's really fun.
- 50:49Speaker 4: Yeah, it was neat. Also a bit of like foreshadowing.
- 50:53Speaker 4: We said it at the top, But the three books
- 50:56Speaker 4: that you know he uses to describe the thing are
- 51:01Speaker 4: the plot.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Shows them to so heavy handed. I Love and.
- 51:06Speaker 4: Juliet Robinson Cruso and The Odyssey. So that's really fun. Also,
- 51:12Speaker 4: it tangentially related to The Odyssey. If folks liked the
- 51:16Speaker 4: sort of life, you know, melancholy part of this story,
- 51:21Speaker 4: you should check out the poem Ithaca because it's wonderful
- 51:25Speaker 4: and it's all about that sort of idea of don't
- 51:28Speaker 4: worry about where you're going, worry about the beauty that
- 51:32Speaker 4: you see along the way. And it's really great.
- 51:34Speaker 3: So check it out. Check it out.
- 51:36Speaker 4: I don't know who wrote it, but just look up
- 51:37Speaker 4: at the poem you find it. Oh her when they're
- 51:44Speaker 4: overlooking Los Angeles. Her license plate reads or license plate
- 51:48Speaker 4: reads Bad Girl. But then when she's dropping them off
- 51:52Speaker 4: at the hotel and the next scene I missed that one, so.
- 51:58Speaker 7: I didn't see the bad Girl. Yeah, so she had changed,
- 52:03Speaker 7: interesting has changed within her. The song the Mexican Restaurant
- 52:07Speaker 7: plays in it is a Spanish language version of On
- 52:10Speaker 7: the Street Where You Live from My Fair Lady of Course,
- 52:13Speaker 7: which of course I recognized from the great film Blast
- 52:17Speaker 7: in the past that we don't all have to see worries.
- 52:22Speaker 3: His quote there was good too when he asked them
- 52:25Speaker 3: to play something. Oh, I don't know it, but however
- 52:28Speaker 3: he worded that, just asked them to play something that
- 52:33Speaker 3: would fill our hearts with I don't know.
- 52:35Speaker 4: That's right, Yeah, make him burst or something or something
- 52:37Speaker 4: like that. Yeah, yeah, that was great, you're right, which
- 52:40Speaker 4: I'll wrote that one down. That's a good one. The
- 52:43Speaker 4: coordinates that she gives when she's doing the May Day
- 52:47Speaker 4: placed them ten miles south southwest of Carolina Island in
- 52:50Speaker 4: the South Pacific. I just thought that was fun that
- 52:52Speaker 4: they picked an actual place, or they lucked out. Maybe
- 52:56Speaker 4: maybe that's all it was. Let's see the shot of
- 53:01Speaker 4: Joe and Dedie on the ferry against the surreal multi
- 53:04Speaker 4: colored Manhattan skyline that was so neat was shot on
- 53:08Speaker 4: a smoke filled soundstage. The moonlit water is actually made
- 53:12Speaker 4: of black plastic garbage bags with fans blowing on them,
- 53:16Speaker 4: and the skyline is just a backdrop, I guess.
- 53:18Speaker 3: So.
- 53:19Speaker 4: I just think that's kind of amazing because it looked
- 53:21Speaker 4: so cool and they delicately pieced it together. I like
- 53:25Speaker 4: when they can do that, Like, you know, when you
- 53:28Speaker 4: look closer, you're like, is that all it is?
- 53:30Speaker 3: Well? That worked.
- 53:32Speaker 4: The only major issue that executive producer Steven Spielberg took
- 53:35Speaker 4: with the production was with a long, unbroken take of
- 53:38Speaker 4: Joe leaving doctor Ellison's office building. The issue was that
- 53:43Speaker 4: John Patrick Shanley didn't shoot any coverage of the scene
- 53:47Speaker 4: beside the one shot, so Spielberg sent him back to
- 53:50Speaker 4: the location to film additional angles later, which were all
- 53:54Speaker 4: then discarded in favor of the one shot take. I
- 53:57Speaker 4: just thought that was great that they were like, no,
- 53:59Speaker 4: go now, you're right, this will work. You're right, this
- 54:02Speaker 4: is the Yeah.
- 54:03Speaker 3: I noticed right away that it was ambulance entertainment. I
- 54:05Speaker 3: was like, oh, Spielberg's in this, Yeah cool.
- 54:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought that was really neat.
- 54:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I was an executive producer on there, and they
- 54:12Speaker 5: were like, step back, Spielberg, we got this.
- 54:15Speaker 4: Yeah, get out of here.
- 54:18Speaker 5: The hack.
- 54:19Speaker 4: The cab scene scene taking Joe's steamer trunks to the
- 54:23Speaker 4: sailboat belongs to Neil Abercrombie, who at the time was
- 54:27Speaker 4: a congressman from Hawaii. Abercrombie drives a refurbished Plantation era
- 54:32Speaker 4: taxi and the graphic on the side of the cab
- 54:35Speaker 4: is him, and it's a small nod to residence of Hawaii,
- 54:38Speaker 4: where some of the movie was filmed. So I just
- 54:40Speaker 4: thought that was kind of neat that they used that.
- 54:43Speaker 4: I was wondering why they zoomed in on that, because
- 54:45Speaker 4: they never really talked about it again or anything.
- 54:47Speaker 3: But I thought that was cool.
- 54:50Speaker 4: We said the thing about the crooked or winding road
- 54:53Speaker 4: showing up in all the places, which I thought was cool,
- 54:55Speaker 4: the like lightning shape and all that, and then I
- 54:59Speaker 4: thought it was on the handle of mister Granamore's cane
- 55:03Speaker 4: is a duck's head. A duck also appears as Joe
- 55:06Speaker 4: is being prepared by the wa Ponies for his leap
- 55:09Speaker 4: into the volcano, and the French word for for duck
- 55:12Speaker 4: is cannard of course, which in English also means a
- 55:16Speaker 4: ruse or a hoax, so symbolically implying that mister Granamore
- 55:21Speaker 4: is playing a ruse on Joe Banks.
- 55:23Speaker 3: And wow, Yeah, I thought that was neat.
- 55:25Speaker 4: I didn't pick up on it, of course, but because
- 55:29Speaker 4: he's not you know, he's not really dying. And additionally,
- 55:33Speaker 4: the doctor is a quack, as we say, because you know,
- 55:37Speaker 4: not giving him the real things. So I thought that
- 55:39Speaker 4: was fun. All the duck illusions there.
- 55:42Speaker 3: Nice.
- 55:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought that was neat. That was all I had, though,
- 55:45Speaker 4: Did you find anything, rob.
- 55:47Speaker 3: The only other thing that I saw that you did
- 55:49Speaker 3: not mention was that Julia Roberts auditioned for the female lead. Oh,
- 55:54Speaker 3: I bet she could have done it too. She could have.
- 55:57Speaker 3: She's worked with the Tommy Hanks a few times now.
- 55:59Speaker 4: Yeah, like this chemistry though, what are we doing?
- 56:03Speaker 3: What are we doing? Yeah? Love it? That's great. Yeah,
- 56:08Speaker 3: but will there be a sequel judgment day? No, probably
- 56:13Speaker 3: not unless it's like.
- 56:15Speaker 4: A climate change like world ending movie.
- 56:19Speaker 3: Now what they do?
- 56:20Speaker 4: You know, a volcano strikes back, they're both around.
- 56:24Speaker 2: The volcano versus.
- 56:26Speaker 3: Yeah, break it, Joe, but probably who knows, Maybe the
- 56:31Speaker 3: fortieth they'll they'll redo it, that'd be cool or something.
- 56:35Speaker 5: You know a little piece of trivia that applies here
- 56:37Speaker 5: to is there was an original ending they didn't.
- 56:40Speaker 2: Use where let's see here the crew and.
- 56:46Speaker 5: Other people are picked up by a rescue ship and
- 56:50Speaker 5: so you know, you're not wondering if they survived the shipwreck.
- 56:52Speaker 2: Or anything like that. Okay, So in that version of
- 56:56Speaker 2: the story they survived.
- 57:00Speaker 4: That's interesting. They do just die and they seem okay
- 57:03Speaker 4: with it.
- 57:04Speaker 3: Yeah, we kind of just don't worry about that. As
- 57:07Speaker 3: did you notice that the woman crew member I think
- 57:11Speaker 3: her name is Amanda Plumber, but she she was that woman?
- 57:15Speaker 3: And so I married an axe murderer.
- 57:17Speaker 4: I know, I did know that, and I was like, well,
- 57:19Speaker 4: that's weird. How did that what?
- 57:23Speaker 3: Yeah, that was funny. I like that. That's cool that.
- 57:28Speaker 4: There was a moment because I didn't remember how it
- 57:30Speaker 4: ended where I thought they were gonna like the ship
- 57:33Speaker 4: going down was just going to you know, someone would
- 57:36Speaker 4: find the ship and be like, well they're dead, what
- 57:39Speaker 4: are you what are you going to do? And they
- 57:40Speaker 4: were just going to live on the island form I
- 57:42Speaker 4: thought that was like I was going to end. For
- 57:43Speaker 4: a moment, I thought that would have been nice. They
- 57:45Speaker 4: were just like, they're hanging out with the native native juice.
- 57:51Speaker 3: What ponies? What pony woods? Did you so one thing?
- 57:57Speaker 3: We have a local band in many A, yes, called
- 58:01Speaker 3: the Big Woods and lived up. I looked.
- 58:05Speaker 4: I had no idea that's what it was from.
- 58:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I I didn't look anything up, but
- 58:10Speaker 3: I just assumed that from this movie.
- 58:13Speaker 4: I did very at least on their Wikipedia they say
- 58:15Speaker 4: that is where that name comes from. I mean it
- 58:18Speaker 4: has to be. That's kind of what I thought too.
- 58:19Speaker 4: But I was like, wow, that's crazy. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 58:23Speaker 4: I thought that was really neat.
- 58:24Speaker 5: I've worked with them a couple of times. I booked
- 58:26Speaker 5: them in Oregon back when I was running a venue here.
- 58:29Speaker 3: Nice.
- 58:30Speaker 4: Yeah, he books the one guy books box for a
- 58:34Speaker 4: bunch of his shoes and stuff too. So I was
- 58:36Speaker 4: actually kind of like, oh, well, if I dodn't know Matt,
- 58:38Speaker 4: we could have talked to them. They must like this
- 58:41Speaker 4: movie then, right, presumably that would have been.
- 58:45Speaker 3: I just always thought it was a fun name, but
- 58:47Speaker 3: now I know it's from this movie. Yeah, I love
- 58:49Speaker 3: even more.
- 58:51Speaker 4: Call him Grundy what's his Grundhoffer or something like that.
- 58:54Speaker 3: Anyway. I don't know.
- 58:55Speaker 4: He's the one guy I know from there, but I
- 58:56Speaker 4: thought that was pretty wild. I was like, whoa weird.
- 59:00Speaker 3: Super fun like it. Do you guys want to play
- 59:03Speaker 3: a game?
- 59:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll play a game.
- 59:06Speaker 3: Okay, thank you, Abe. I was waiting. We're gonna do
- 59:10Speaker 3: starting five again. I know you've done this before. I
- 59:13Speaker 3: gonna name five actors. You're gonna ring in with your
- 59:16Speaker 3: name when you know the name of the film. If
- 59:19Speaker 3: you get it wrong, there's no negative points, but you
- 59:21Speaker 3: won't be able to guess again for that movie. If
- 59:24Speaker 3: their actors' names remaining, you can guess those for a
- 59:28Speaker 3: point each. If you get any of those wrong, the
- 59:31Speaker 3: other person can come on in and steal those points.
- 59:35Speaker 3: And all of these films have something in common. When
- 59:39Speaker 3: you know the theme, you can ring in at any
- 59:40Speaker 3: time for a point. It probably has something to do
- 59:43Speaker 3: with the movie we just talked about. Ooh, okay, yep,
- 59:48Speaker 3: are you ready? Yeah, I'm getting a nod? All right,
- 59:53Speaker 3: we got this, all right. Number one, the first name
- 59:58Speaker 3: is Julie Warner, The second name Brian Dennihey, ooh, Number

- 1:00:20Speaker 3: Two names remaining Chris Farley correct. H five, Oh, David Spade.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: There we go, nicely done. Three points for bukes. Way
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: to go. Let's go number two. I feel like this
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: one's gonna be tougher. The first name is Diane West.
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: I know that name, and I never know who she is.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: Yeah, she was in a bunch of movies. Yeah, a
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: bunch of them. Sweet sweet lady. The second name is
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: Laura Dern, also a sweet lady. The third name is
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: Dakota Fanning. The fourth name is Michelle Pfeiffer Fifer, and
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: the fifth and final name is Sean Penn. Five. Oh uh,
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: bug bug?

- 1:01:26Speaker 3: Three?
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: Is that called two?
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: Son of Sam?
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: Nobe?
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: I am Sam?
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: You are? You got it? Way to go with the
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: assist their bukes? Sam can't be right.
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: I don't think Dakota Fanny was in that one.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: Abe gets the point there, but thanks to bugs. Let's
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: go to number I don't think I ever saw that movie.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: Was it good? Who's very touching because he's.
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: Like he's got some mental stuff going on, right or
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: something like that?
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: Correct? Yeah, and he wants to adopt Dakota Fanning. That's right,
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: and it's dealing with that or she's already I think no,
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: he might already be her dad, and it's about keeping
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: custody or something.
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: I'm not sure, sorry to cast us aside.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: There, you're good, you're good. All right, Let's go to
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: number three. The first name is Jessica. The second name
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: is Hume cronin Abe Abe Cocoon. They are both in
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: that movie. That is not correct. No, it's a great guess,
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: but it's not correct. Well, they are. They were married
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: in real life, which is real fun, and they were
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: in a bunch of movies together. The third name is
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: John go okay. The fourth name is Glenn Close okay in.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: The fifth and final name is Robin Williams five four
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: three two Jack one. Jack is a good guess. It's
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: not right, but it's a very good guess. Okay. What
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: I feel like you might know what the theme that was.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: I was going to guess that next. Well, feel free
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: to guess that. Okay.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: I think the theme is something with like a like
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: a young man's name Sam Tommy, right.
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: Not a young man's name child. No, it's not that. Uh.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: This movie was called oh do you want to know, well.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: I guess I'm already guessed.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: So this is a movie called the World according to Garp.

- 1:04:03Speaker 3: It is, you got it, and it's not just a
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: man's name. That makes sense. Yep, yep.
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: So yeah, none of these will have yes, of course obviously.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: And I think technically that might have been his last name,
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: but they all called him Garb, so I'm going with
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: that was his first name.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Ye.
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: So yeah, none of these will have like a last name,
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: so that you don't like, wait for Aaron Brockovich one
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: name thing.
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: It's just the first name, yes, share, I say, pukes,
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: I don't know, right, yes.
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: So that's what we're looking for. Let's go to number four.
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: The first name is Scott Mosure. The second name is
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: Jason Lee mm hmm. The third name do you have it, abe?
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: I have it narrowed down right there. The third name
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: is Ethan Superly.
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: Well, I have one I want to guess, but that's
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: not a person's name.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: The fourth name is his name mal is Joey Lauren Adams.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: Oh and final.

- 1:05:39Speaker 3: Joey Lauren Adams. Then the lead of the film five

- 1:07:03Speaker 3: I went with Charlie and the Chocolate Fast. Yeah, where

- 1:11:25Speaker 4: That until later. I never saw either of those.
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: Yeah, because wasn't there two of them? I think the
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: looking Glass. Yeah, it was a lot. I watched both
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: of them, one of which was when I bought that
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: three D TV. It came with the TV that I
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: shouldn't have bought. I didn't have the money. You shouldn't have.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: I really shouldn't have.
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: We knew that at the time, you know, I didn't really.
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: Think that that I'd have to pay back taxes and
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: then I'd need to borrow that's money from my parents.
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: I made an irresponsible purchase, and I'm in trouble. We
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: were young, all right. Let's go to the last one.
