- 0:00SPEAKER_02: Um first of all it's a pleasure to meet you.
- 0:01SPEAKER_02: You've only been at the club a few weeks.
- 0:03SPEAKER_02: Judging by the way that you're playing, I'd say you're you're settling in very well indeed.
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: How much are you enjoying playing for Bristol City so far?
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm loving it at Bristol City so far.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Settled in well.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Everyone's really nice, welcoming, and I'm enjoying my time so far.
- 0:16SPEAKER_02: I think as a young lone player, it might be for forgiven for taking a few weeks.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: Are you pleased how well you seem to have adapted to life in the championship?
- 0:24SPEAKER_02: First team football week in, week out?
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm happy.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Been starting games.
- 0:28SPEAKER_02: That's all you can really ask as your first loan.
- 0:31SPEAKER_02: And City seem to be finding their groove as well in terms of results.
- 0:35SPEAKER_02: What difference has a couple of wins made to the squad generally?
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, high morale.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Everyone's really happy with the performances.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: A lot to learn, but I think we're going in the right direction.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: Tell me about the move too, Bristol City.
- 0:48SPEAKER_02: You're at Crystal Palace in the summer.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: You had been there or thereabouts breaking into the first team.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: I think you played against Arsenal the last game of the season.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: How did the low move come about?
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: And did you have to think carefully before deciding that this was the right move for you?
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I think there was a couple options, but as soon as I heard Bristol City, I know it's a big club, big ambition, so I was straight away excited for that.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: Because you're 20 years of age, are you at an age now where all the under-21's football is well and good, but you want to be playing first team football?
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, definitely.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Definitely want to be playing first team.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: And the ambition, I presume, is in 12 months' time you have a good season at Bristol City and you're knocking on Crystal Palace's door?
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean that's the goal of Premier League football.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Um hopefully we get promoted and then it's happy days.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: I had one fan talk about you on Tuesday saying they can't tell if you're right footed or you're left footed because you're good with with both feet.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: Which are you?
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: I'll leave that to them to decide.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: Do you have a favourite position?
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Um to be honest, I I can't I couldn't tell you.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Like I I like playing either side, left back, right back, left wing back, right wing back, left wing, right wing, and they both have their like fate.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: I have my favourite traits on each side, but I don't really have a favourite.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: And of course, attacking is part of your game.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: I think I think three goals you've been involved with so far, but but defensively, where are you at as a defender, would you say?
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, defending.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: I mean I know I've got a lot to improve, but that's that's why I'm here to learn, and obviously you get experience, so coming with that, there'll be mistakes, but I always keep my head up and just try my best.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: Did you have an inkling when you joined Bristol City that within a few weeks you'd be involved in a potential Pushkiss Award winner?
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: Um, but shout out to Dom for that, don't you?
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: When you got I mean, how good of you did you did you realise there and then how special that goal was?
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Not really, no.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: I just um got a ball, I seen Dom make a run kind of thing, and then just hit low, and then the rest of history, but I didn't think I just kind of was in the moment until I saw it back.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: I was like, wow, the angles short better, to be honest.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: Um and you're uh you're an international with Trinidad and Tobago.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: Just tell me about how that came about and how much your games improved from playing international football.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, definitely one of the most important things in my career.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: I went and made my senior debut in May 2025, and then since then I was around Palace first team, so I think it's a big step for me just to get senior experience with them early, and then getting used to it has been much easier.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: What's the standard like with Trinidad and Tobago?
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Are they are they competitive in games?
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, very high standard.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: We were pushing for a World Cup but just narrowly missed up.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: But I think with the squad we have the talent, the boys coming up, we definitely have a good chance for 2030.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: I think Stern John's a bit of a Trinidad and Tobago legend.
- 3:53SPEAKER_02: He used to play for Bristol City.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: I mean, you're only 20 and you've won these caps as well.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: Looking forward, you must be very excited about the possibilities, and I I assume the World Cup is the end goal.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, definitely.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: World Cup is the focus.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: So, short term with Bristol City.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: Um have you seen enough to convince yourself that Bristol City can challenge for promotion, the playoffs this season?
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Definitely, yeah, only a few games in, but I know with the squad we have the team, the ambition, everyone's that's the goal, and we're gonna go for it as much as we can.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: And Palace are going for a bit of a transition.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: Are they a club who apparent club who keep in touch with you on a weekly basis or do they leave you to your own devices now you're at Bristol City?
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I'm in touch with I'm in touch with people at Palace, but yeah, it's a good club, my parent club.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Um, and obviously I want to see them do well.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: And you may or may not be up against um Carl Walker or Burnley on Saturday.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: Just talk to me about the test coming up on Saturday.
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: Is this perhaps one of your, despite their results so far this season, one of your toughest tests of the season?
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, I'd say yeah.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Burnley are definitely a strong opposition coming from the Premier League, but I don't think we take the game as any different as we take any other game.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: It's just uh another game.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Your positions just change, but every game we take it the same.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: Did you know anyone at Bristol City when you joined the club?
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: No, funny enough, no, no one.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: So who have you volunted with so far?
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: All the lads are really good, but um got on well with Lee Sav.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, everyone's really good though.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, were you pleased for Lee Sav on in the week to um get his first goal for the club and his celebration that followed?
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, really happy for it, yeah.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: Lovely to meet you.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: Good luck.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: Hi, could you just talk us through a little bit of your journey as a youth player?
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: It was only a few four or five years ago you joined Palace.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: Just talk us through like kind of I guess the process before that.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, so my dad started a team when I was really young.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Um he started it for my brother originally, who's two or three years older than me.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: But I wanted to play, so I started in goal and I'd just dribble out a goal and score.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: And then eventually he put me out field, and then they started a team with my age, and then at around like six or seven, I went into Arsenal, and I was there until 10-ish, got released, played um for a team called London Coney Colts, where eventually I think 11 of us went on to like professional teams, like Arsenal, etc.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: Like uh yeah, a few went to Arsenal and a few other teams.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Um, and I played there, and then it switched to Enfield, Enfield Borough when we were like 14, and I joined Palace uh 15, turning 16, and then from there it's just been upwards.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: It's obviously a bit of a different route in.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: Do you think it like gives you that bit of ground in you know you've come through grassroots and had that experience of being released?
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: How does that shape you as a player?
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Definitely a big moment for me.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Um you build a lot, like you learn to overcome things differently.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: So I think it definitely shaped me into the person I'm today.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: In terms of that Arsenal team, are there any names that like kind of go on that you reckon we recognise from that team you build?
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: Um Miles Louis Skelly, Ethan Onery.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, a couple of big names.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: Does your brother still play as well?
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, my brother still plays playing for Bigleswin.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: Nice, yeah.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Um he's doing well both footed.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: Runs of the family.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: Um can you just talk us through a little bit about Palace last year?
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: And you've been obviously kind of in and around that first team squad.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: What's been a really successful period for the club?
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: What has that experience been like with the conference league last year, the FA Cup year before?
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: That that sort of experience?
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, incredible vibe just around the whole club, the whole area.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Everyone really happy with the recent success.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Obviously, winning three trophies in in the space of that like year kind of is incredible for any team, and especially being Palace, it's that bit more special.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: It must be it's obviously exciting to be around as well, but I guess it presents as a young player an even greater challenge.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: It's a tough time to force your way into a squad as well.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean definitely.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: It's never easy to, but especially with all that going on, it makes it a little bit harder.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: You mentioned you had a few options this summer.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: What was it about Bristol City that made you think that's that's the right club for me?
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: I know that it's I love it's a lovely city, first of all, because you want to be living somewhere that's nice and you're gonna enjoy yourself and massive club.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: I just know that everyone's ambitions here.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Like when I spoke to the gaffer, I knew that this is where I want to be.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: I just know that it's best for my development.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: What were those conversations like with Michael?
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: Because he's obviously shown a lot of trust in you, throwing you straight in quite quickly.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: What were those like?
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Um just a call on Zoom, showing me through how he's gonna like to play, and ever since then it suited me, so it's the best move.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: It's exciting time for the football club as you know, the business done this summer.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: It must be really encouraging when you join a club when they're in that stage and it feels like there's that ambition to push on.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, 11 new sign-ins.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: I think everyone's gelled together well well nicely, so we're gonna be having a good season.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Another one of those new signings on deadline day.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: Have you had a chance to probably get to know and speak to Brian yet?
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, speaking to him at lunch a little bit, but um yeah, we'll have a few more conversations.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: Feels like he's bringing that a bit of a different profile as well, a bit more experience to a squad that's got it's a real blend, isn't it, as a group of terms of young players and older heads?
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, it's a really good group.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: I think we've got it in all departments, like even showing in the game against Preston, the bench made the difference.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: So in terms of the championship, has anything kind of surprised you about the division?
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: I know you've played at the highest level, but is there anything that you kind of stood out and thought, okay, that's a bit different to what I'm used to?
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: Um no, not really.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: I'm just enjoying it.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: Like I know the football's good, physical, um, but no, I've been really enjoying it.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: You mentioned those assists, a lot of them have come from set pieces.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: There's a few I think in that dressing room are fancy there.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: Chances you're having to get the elbows out at free kicks a little bit to push the license Scot away.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um I mean I know free kicks are one of my strongest points, and I've been practicing them from when I can remember with my dad.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: So terms of big away, another big away trip on on Saturday, how important and what you've made of the fan base so far?
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: Does I think you've seen some bit uh not the biggest away following on Tuesday night, but they've certainly made themselves heard.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, still a great turn up, even at Birmingham.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Unreal fans, um, and we appreciate their travel and their dedication to support the team up and down the country.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: Imagine it makes a big difference as well when when you're somewhere like Birmingham and you can hear them over the top of the home fan.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: It must must really push you on.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: No, it does, yeah.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Um all these are weird games.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Um we just enjoy the when they're loud, it helps us.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Best of that Saturday.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
