- 0:05Speaker 1: Hey, real quick. So Kelly Clarkson in the news because
- 0:07Speaker 1: she got Pretty Woman at the store. She was trying
- 0:09Speaker 1: to buy a $ 15, 000. What, Kyle? A bird?
- 0:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like a singing, talking bird that apparently
- 0:15Speaker 2: it's a one-of-a-kind thing.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and they told her we have some other items
- 0:19Speaker 1: you can look at. So she said that she looked
- 0:21Speaker 1: like she couldn't afford it and the person didn't recognize her.
- 0:23Speaker 1: So anyway, she trashed it on social media. We wanted
- 0:25Speaker 1: to just know really quick. And by the way, we've
- 0:27Speaker 1: got Dave Chappelle tickets. We got tickets to Wicked Ball.
- 0:30Speaker 1: We want to know who or tell us about the
- 0:33Speaker 1: time you got Pretty Woman'd. Jennifer, what happened to you?
- 0:40Speaker 3: Hi.
- 0:40Speaker 4: So, we recently opened a toy store locally in the
- 0:43Speaker 4: Valley at Park West in Peoria, and we went to
- 0:47Speaker 4: the Fall 2027 Toy Preview in L.A. a couple weeks ago.
- 0:53Speaker 4: And when we walked in, people were just super rude,
- 0:57Speaker 4: and they were like, how did you find out about us?
- 1:00Speaker 4: Can you even afford to be here and make orders?
- 1:03Speaker 5: What?
- 1:03Speaker 6: I was like, what?
- 1:05Speaker 4: I swear to goodness. And they were like, this is
- 1:07Speaker 4: for the big industry people. And I was like, okay,
- 1:10Speaker 4: but we have a legit toy store. Like we're not
- 1:12Speaker 4: a little kiosk. We have, it's 2,500 square foot. I
- 1:17Speaker 4: feel like that's a legit store. And we're in Park West,
- 1:22Speaker 4: which is a known shopping center here in at least
- 1:24Speaker 4: Phoenix area. So they were like, well, can you meet
- 1:30Speaker 4: the MOQs? And I said, well, I don't know. Can
- 1:32Speaker 4: you cash my check? And the one lady laughed at
- 1:40Speaker 4: the table and she was like, I like you that
- 1:42Speaker 4: you have, you.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Know, big balls.
- 1:45Speaker 4: And I was like, she said, I will help you.
- 1:48Speaker 4: And one of the companies that literally slammed the door
- 1:51Speaker 4: in our face was shillings. Um, they had papers on
- 1:54Speaker 4: the wall that said appointment only, and you need to
- 1:57Speaker 4: sign an NDA. We did sign a few NDAs for
- 2:00Speaker 4: a couple of clients that let us view their stuff.
- 2:04Speaker 4: And they were nice and upfront telling us, you know,
- 2:06Speaker 4: our MOQs are 10,000 per item, which, you know, you
- 2:11Speaker 4: would think toys, it's like a fun industry, but definitely
- 2:15Speaker 4: the corporate America world of it is brutal. And so
- 2:19Speaker 4: I told them, I said, even if I could afford
- 2:21Speaker 4: your MOQ, you couldn't get a dollar from me, but
- 2:24Speaker 4: we were lucky. And we did sign some license contracts
- 2:27Speaker 4: with people to like start that. But, yeah, and we
- 2:31Speaker 4: went there with money to spend. Like, we knew it
- 2:34Speaker 4: was going to– we did our research. We knew what
- 2:36Speaker 4: it was going to be.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Right.
- 2:37Speaker 4: But they were just like, your money is not good
- 2:39Speaker 4: enough for us.
- 2:40Speaker 1: What's your toy store? Tell us your toy store name
- 2:42Speaker 1: and everything about it. I love toys.
- 2:44Speaker 4: It's Hype– oh, it's Hype It Up Toys. We are
- 2:49Speaker 4: two moms whose kids played club basketball, and now our
- 2:54Speaker 4: kids are in college, and we're like, oh, my God,
- 2:56Speaker 4: what do we do? Our life revolved around this travel
- 2:59Speaker 4: team and– So I was like, I'm a nurse locally.
- 3:03Speaker 4: I said, well, what if I just, you know, take
- 3:06Speaker 4: some of this money that we now are going to
- 3:08Speaker 4: save and use one of my 401ks and we do
- 3:13Speaker 4: something that we enjoy and still help kids. So we
- 3:16Speaker 4: do family events and birthday parties and we have all
- 3:19Speaker 4: the trendy toys.
- 3:20Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 3:21Speaker 4: We're next to Handel's ice cream.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Oh, that's good. So there's always a line there. Hey,
- 3:27Speaker 1: do you guys have that new butt face toy? They
- 3:29Speaker 1: call it the number one toy this year.
- 3:32Speaker 4: But we have it on order. It has not delivered yet.
- 3:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:41Speaker 4: And we have like the Corgi, but that's like with
- 3:45Speaker 4: big squidge.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Like all the kids come in at the, anything with
- 3:48Speaker 4: butt or farts, they all want it.
- 3:50Speaker 1: That's great. Okay. And your store is called hype it up.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I put up toys.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I put up toys. All right, Jennifer, thanks for calling in. Yeah,
- 3:59Speaker 1: not a problem.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Have a good day guys.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a couple of messages on Facebook. I watched
- 4:05Speaker 1: Denny's servers argue over who was going to wait on us.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I guess we didn't look like big tippers. The guy
- 4:09Speaker 1: who did wait on us, we gave him a $ 100 tip.
- 4:11Speaker 1: That was teaching. Jeannie says, I was snubbed at a
- 4:14Speaker 1: bicycle store. I sent an email to the manager. I
- 4:16Speaker 1: got a call back from the salesman and bought a
- 4:18Speaker 1: bike somewhere else. There's quite a few posts on here.
- 4:22Speaker 1: But meanwhile, Lacey sent us this text, and I love
- 4:26Speaker 1: the way she said it. Lacey, good morning.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Good morning.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Good morning. So it was almost like she wanted to
- 4:31Speaker 1: play a game with us, right?
- 4:33Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Okay, so tell it the exact same way you said
- 4:36Speaker 1: it on the text.
- 4:38Speaker 6: Okay, so I said that I got pulled over one
- 4:41Speaker 6: time while I was pumping breast milk for my baby.
- 4:44Speaker 5: Did I get a ticket?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Wait, wait.
- 4:47Speaker 3: So you were rolling. You weren't just pulled over. You
- 4:49Speaker 3: were rolling down the road pumping breast milk.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Right.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Highways, like a city street? What?
- 4:58Speaker 6: It was a city street.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Did you have that, was it that machine?
- 5:01Speaker 6: Yeah, it's the machine.
- 5:03Speaker 1: So you got the two suction cups on each breast,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and it's making that noise, and it's pumping into a
- 5:08Speaker 1: thing while you're driving?
- 5:09Speaker 6: Right, and I had a jacket that was zipped up,
- 5:12Speaker 6: so everything was covered, so you couldn't see anything.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Oh, okay, because I'm like, that's hard to take off
- 5:17Speaker 2: in a hurry.
- 5:18Speaker 3: So then it sounds to me like you didn't get
- 5:20Speaker 3: pulled over because you were breastfeeding. You were probably doing
- 5:23Speaker 3: something else and also breastfeeding, like speeding and breastfeeding.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Speeding. You're speeding. Okay. So let's guess. So you want
- 5:31Speaker 1: to know, we're going to guess if you got a
- 5:34Speaker 1: ticket or didn't get a ticket. I'm going to say
- 5:36Speaker 1: the cop is going to be like, this is so fascinating.
- 5:39Speaker 1: You're free to go. That's my guess.
- 5:42Speaker 2: I'm going to say the cop, I'm going to say
- 5:43Speaker 2: he had a bad day at work. He was like
- 5:45Speaker 2: not in the mood, maybe lack of sleep from his
- 5:47Speaker 2: own baby. So he's going to, he gave her the ticket.
- 5:50Speaker 5: I'm going to say maybe he didn't realize what was
- 5:52Speaker 5: going on underneath the jacket and said, I'm still going.
- 5:55Speaker 2: To have to give you the ticket.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, I think no ticket, because he'd be like, oh, God, oh, God,
- 5:59Speaker 3: I don't want nothing to do with that. Probably freaked
- 6:00Speaker 3: him out.
- 6:01Speaker 1: All right, so what happened?
- 6:03Speaker 6: Yeah, Rich was pretty much nailing the head. He asked me, like,
- 6:05Speaker 6: three times what I was doing, and I had to
- 6:07Speaker 6: tell him. And finally, he was like, oh, gosh. In
- 6:11Speaker 6: 25 years, I've never heard that one. He said, just
- 6:13Speaker 6: get out of here.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Get out of here.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Go feed that baby.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Stop trying to feed your young. How would you like
- 6:22Speaker 1: Lacey's up to? You want tickets to Wicked Ball, or
- 6:24Speaker 1: you want to go see Dave Chappelle?
- 6:26Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, Dave Chappelle, for sure.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Okay, hold on a line. We're going to set you
- 6:30Speaker 1: up with that. Hold on, hold on.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Hold on. All right, let's get into this party you
- 6:34Speaker 1: went to, Rich.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 6:36Speaker 3: So, Stacy, my wife, her brother, married a lady, her
- 6:42Speaker 3: name's Christine, who is from Kenya. And her family was
- 6:45Speaker 3: all visiting, and it happened to be her dad's 75th birthday,
- 6:49Speaker 3: or 77th birthday, maybe.
- 6:52Speaker 1: 77, I think.
- 6:53Speaker 3: So they were all at the house together. And it
- 6:55Speaker 3: was me and Stacey and a bunch of people from Kenya.
- 6:58Speaker 3: And I had the best time eating Kenyan food. And, like,
- 7:02Speaker 3: they got the best birthday song. Our birthday song in
- 7:04Speaker 3: America sucks. The Kenyan birthday song, it is like a
- 7:08Speaker 3: whole dance. It's like a whole thing.
- 7:09Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 7:10Speaker 3: So you got some good food.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Did you get the itis when you went home?
- 7:13Speaker 1: Well, I loved. What's the itis?
- 7:16Speaker 2: What do you mean by the itis? You know, when
- 7:19Speaker 2: you like go to Thanksgiving, you eat so much. You
- 7:21Speaker 2: have to take a nap and you're just like.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Oh, I wasn't actually even hungry, but they made me
- 7:26Speaker 3: a plate. So I figured, well, I'm just going to
- 7:28Speaker 3: try it and stay there like, oh, my God, this
- 7:29Speaker 3: is unbelievable. So we would we went back and we
- 7:31Speaker 3: went back. We went back. But I'm standing around talking
- 7:34Speaker 3: to a couple of people from Kenya. And I'm like,
- 7:36Speaker 3: so I figure if I go to Kenya, I'm going
- 7:39Speaker 3: to have some good Kenyan food. But you guys are
- 7:42Speaker 3: all here. Why not just for, you know, the party
- 7:44Speaker 3: have like cheeseburgers or like Ted hot dogs or something
- 7:47Speaker 3: like that? And they're like, no, no. We've had cheeseburgers,
- 7:50Speaker 3: and they're fine. But the traditional thing is to have
- 7:53Speaker 3: Kenyan food.
- 7:54Speaker 5: Like?
- 7:55Speaker 3: It was like some beautiful stew. It almost tasted like
- 7:59Speaker 3: it had Indian spices in it for some reason. I
- 8:02Speaker 3: don't know. What's the Indian spice I'm thinking of?
- 8:05Speaker 1: Curry.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Curry.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it had that in it.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I'm like, they had a lot of seasoning in there.
- 8:09Speaker 1: It was so good.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Like, if you open up a Kenyan restaurant around here,
- 8:13Speaker 3: I will be first in line. I thought it was sensational.
- 8:17Speaker 3: And then they're just like such– they're so cool. They're
- 8:19Speaker 3: so nice. And like the father told me he walked
- 8:23Speaker 3: 26 miles yesterday.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Jesus. 76 years old. Marathon runners. That's what they're famous for.
- 8:28Speaker 1: That's their thing.
- 8:28Speaker 3: He just said– he looked at me and Stacey. He's like,
- 8:30Speaker 3: you Americans stress out too much. Keep your life simple
- 8:32Speaker 3: and you will live a long time. I guess his
- 8:34Speaker 3: mom is like 106 or something like that.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Wow. What a long life to live.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yeah. So– Anyway. Speaking of Kenya, I don't know much
- 8:41Speaker 1: about Kenya. I didn't either, but I loved it. I
- 8:42Speaker 1: would assume that that's where there's like lions and tigers
- 8:44Speaker 1: and stuff. They do have that. Did you see that
- 8:46Speaker 1: guy that jumped into that lion or the tiger enclosure?
- 8:50Speaker 2: I did.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Did you watch the whole Uncensored video? I couldn't watch that.
- 8:53Speaker 2: No.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I didn't.
- 8:54Speaker 4: No.
- 8:54Speaker 1: What happened? This jerk face jumps into the zoo at
- 8:57Speaker 1: a zoo where there's a tiger and tries to be
- 9:00Speaker 1: cute with the tiger and tiger freaking takes him out.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Of course.
- 9:03Speaker 1: What in the room? Why would he do that?
- 9:05Speaker 2: What the zoo said in response because people were super upset. They-
- 9:08Speaker 2: They put out like a statement saying, we're really sorry for,
- 9:11Speaker 2: you know, the family of the lost one and blah, blah, blah.
- 9:14Speaker 2: But we are not euthanizing the tiger.
- 9:15Speaker 5: No way.
- 9:17Speaker 1: People are mad that they're not euthanizing. They are happy
- 9:18Speaker 1: that they are. Well, they should.
- 9:20Speaker 3: The tiger's doing what a tiger does.
- 9:22Speaker 2: And people were like, because I mean, that's what they
- 9:23Speaker 2: did with Harambee, right? When that guy, when that... little
- 9:26Speaker 2: kid fell in, they killed Harambee. So it's like, yeah,
- 9:31Speaker 2: like they, they have all of these things where it's like, oh,
- 9:33Speaker 2: well they killed a person, but it's in there. What
- 9:36Speaker 2: is their natural habitat for, I mean, obviously they're in zoos, but. Yeah,
- 9:40Speaker 2: just super sad, but they are not going to euthanize
- 9:43Speaker 2: the tiger.
- 9:43Speaker 3: I wonder what that dude was thinking, just trying to
- 9:45Speaker 3: get a selfie?
- 9:46Speaker 2: He wasn't.
- 9:46Speaker 1: He was sitting there, like, the video, he's pointing at
- 9:49Speaker 1: it like you're talking to a dog, going, no, no. Like,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I'm assuming he was going in this tiger cage to
- 9:55Speaker 1: be funny with his friends, and try to be whatever,
- 9:56Speaker 1: and the tiger was like, okay. Kind of played with
- 9:59Speaker 1: him for a little bit, then took him out. I
- 10:01Speaker 1: couldn't find it on Instagram, but for some reason, I
- 10:04Speaker 1: don't understand how the social media works, but Twitter? It's
- 10:07Speaker 1: just a free-for-all. They post everything. We talked about it
- 10:11Speaker 1: last week with the algorithms, man. My algorithm, it is
- 10:14Speaker 1: insane with that. You click on one, I watched one
- 10:17Speaker 1: tiger mauling, right? Now I get tons of animal mauling.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 10:20Speaker 2: Oh, can we please bring back Untamed and Uncut on
- 10:23Speaker 2: Discovery Channel, please?
- 10:24Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, it was such a good show. Yeah.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I bet you whatever was on Discovery Channel wasn't as
- 10:29Speaker 1: graphic as it is on X.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Oh, I feel like it was. Well, yeah, they would
- 10:34Speaker 2: put the blurred out stuff.
- 10:35Speaker 3: But they show animals attacking animals. I don't think they
- 10:38Speaker 3: show them attacking humans.
- 10:39Speaker 2: No, Untamed and Uncut, there was an episode. I remember
- 10:43Speaker 2: vividly as a kid watching it and a polar bear
- 10:45Speaker 2: mauled this lady because she tried to jump over the gate.
- 10:50Speaker 2: I know.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Hey, by the way, a couple of cool things happening
- 10:52Speaker 1: on Saturday. On Saturday, there's two very cool things happening.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Saturday morning at 8 a.m. is like our 10th annual
- 11:02Speaker 1: Cars and Canines. It might not be 10. It might
- 11:03Speaker 1: be 9th or 8th or 9th. And that's at D-Pet
- 11:06Speaker 1: Hotel in North Scottsdale. And that's where we're going to
- 11:09Speaker 1: have cars like Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Rolls Royces, like the most exotic,
- 11:14Speaker 1: most beautiful cars you've ever seen. And you can walk
- 11:16Speaker 1: around and take a look at them and sit in
- 11:18Speaker 1: and take pictures and look whatever. And then there's dog
- 11:20Speaker 1: rescues like Love Pup will be there and other dog
- 11:22Speaker 1: rescues set up. with a huge adoption thing. There's food
- 11:25Speaker 1: trucks there. It's a beautiful event. And it's this Saturday
- 11:28Speaker 1: morning at eight. Then after that, it's like the biggest
- 11:32Speaker 1: family Halloween Dia de los Muertos celebration in the Valley.
- 11:35Speaker 1: It's after that. It's at Sanderson Ford in Glendale. It
- 11:38Speaker 1: starts at five. It's trunk or treat. I remember my
- 11:40Speaker 1: kids and I, we used to go to, and my wife,
- 11:41Speaker 1: we'd go to trunk or treat all the time. So
- 11:43Speaker 1: bring the whole family in costume. Priscilla's going to be there.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Kiss Crew's going to be there. trunk or treating candy
- 11:50Speaker 1: candy candy face painting bounce houses music culture treats and
- 11:55Speaker 1: more so saturday's a full we got you covered saturday
- 11:59Speaker 1: if you're new to town you want to know what
- 12:00Speaker 1: to do go to cars and canines saturday morning and
- 12:03Speaker 1: then go to sanderson ford at five and trunk or
- 12:06Speaker 1: treat oh jessica what's your algorithm situation.
- 12:11Speaker 5: Hi john j so i was listening to you guys
- 12:13Speaker 5: and Talking about algorithm, and I one time liked a
- 12:17Speaker 5: hot dog post on Instagram. And then ever since then,
- 12:21Speaker 5: I just started getting hot dog posts, hot dog. And
- 12:24Speaker 5: so I just embraced it. And every single hot dog
- 12:27Speaker 5: post or reel or meme or anything that comes across,
- 12:30Speaker 5: I just repost it, like it. Yeah. My whole algorithm
- 12:34Speaker 5: is consistently filled with hot dogs. Now all my friends
- 12:40Speaker 5: send me hot dog stuff. And maybe next year I'm
- 12:43Speaker 5: going to have a hot dog themed birthday party.
- 12:46Speaker 1: All because of one stupid click. That's so funny. That's
- 12:50Speaker 1: so relatable, Jessica. I'm so glad you called. Thanks for listening.
- 12:54Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 12:54Speaker 1: You wouldn't think there was that much hot dog content
- 12:56Speaker 1: out there.
