• 1:33
Speaker 1: Okay, if I do this train dot com.
• 1:35
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 1:35
Speaker 1: If we have to show you how to use a microphone, world,
• 1:39
Speaker 1: this is my world.
• 1:40
Speaker 2: Does that hang out with you guys when you're working out?
• 1:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, Dog Doug comes with me to the gym. He
• 1:45
Speaker 1: comes with me wherever I go. He knows because he
• 1:48
Speaker 1: sees my bell packing all my medication, so he knows
• 1:50
Speaker 1: him on my way out, That's how he knows. When
• 1:53
Speaker 1: he sees a lot of prescription bottles, he's like, oh,
• 1:55
  Speaker 1: she's leaving right.
• 1:58
Speaker 3: In the story of when Chun walked down, that will
• 2:01
  Speaker 3: share two miles.
• 2:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, a good story.
• 2:05
Speaker 3: Do you remember Chunk?
• 2:07
Speaker 2: I never met Chunk. Chunk was before my time.
• 2:09
Speaker 1: Chunk is the dog that made me a mother.
• 2:11
Speaker 3: When I met Chelsea, she was the mother to Chunk.
• 2:16
Speaker 3: I've trained Chelsea through many different dogs, employees, whatever, and
• 2:22
Speaker 3: also dogs. And the first dog was Chunk. Was that
• 2:26
Speaker 3: your first dog? Period? Famous because it was on your
• 2:29
Speaker 3: show right when I met you. Your show was not
• 2:35
Speaker 3: was done, Chelsea lately was done, but Chunk. So long
• 2:40
Speaker 3: story short. We went to this gym that was an
• 2:43
Speaker 3: underground parking garage and Chelsea and I got to talking
• 2:47
Speaker 3: and Chunk just meandered away at some point. So Chelsea's assistant,
• 2:52
Speaker 3: this is actually a true story. The gym was between
• 2:56
Speaker 3: if anybody knows Beverly Hills, it was in an alley
• 2:58
Speaker 3: between Roxbury and Linden, right off Wilshire, so smack dab
• 3:02
Speaker 3: in Beverly Hills if you don't know Beverly Hills. I
• 3:05
Speaker 3: don't know how long goes by, but it must have been.
• 3:07
Speaker 3: Chunk wasn't fast, so it had to be a while.
• 3:10
Speaker 3: His Chunk kind of walks slow. And so we get
• 3:12
Speaker 3: a call from Karen, her assistant, saying, one of your
• 3:17
Speaker 3: fans found Chunk two miles down the road on Wilsher.
• 3:21
Speaker 3: I'm not making this up. I'm not putting anything on this.
• 3:24
Speaker 3: Chunk just walked out of the garage and walked two
• 3:26
Speaker 3: miles down Wilshire and was so famous that some random
• 3:29
Speaker 3: person just spotted Chunk, and so Chelsea just I was
• 3:36
Speaker 3: thinking like, oh my god, we got to go get him.
• 3:37
Speaker 3: Chelsea goes, well, I don't want to get him. That's embarrassing.
• 3:40
Speaker 3: You go get him, and just hung up and Karen
• 3:42
Speaker 3: had to go pick up Chunk. I have no clue
• 3:45
Speaker 3: how Chunk lived through that.
• 3:47
Speaker 1: God, what about Chunk was so funny because Chunk was famous.
• 3:51
Speaker 1: So people would stop at stop lights when we were
• 3:53
Speaker 1: on our way to to the studio and they would
• 3:56
Speaker 1: recognize him, and people because his head would be out
• 3:58
Speaker 1: the right and oh, my god, is that Chunk? Is
• 4:00
Speaker 1: that Chunk because he had his bandana and it was
• 4:02
Speaker 1: kind of recognizable. And then I'd always be like, oh, yeah,
• 4:05
Speaker 1: come quickly take a picture if you want, get out
• 4:07
Speaker 1: of the car at the red light. And then one
• 4:09
Speaker 1: day after doing this, like every morning, it would happen
• 4:12
Speaker 1: pretty frequently, right, and then one day Chunk literally a
• 4:16
Speaker 1: woman was coming over to take a picture and Chunk
• 4:17
Speaker 1: just put his paw on the control window controller to
• 4:21
Speaker 1: put the window up. He had was like, fuck this ship,
• 4:24
Speaker 1: I'm sick of this.
• 4:24
Speaker 3: And with my family, what was the dog chronology?
• 4:26
Speaker 1: It was Chunk Chunk, and then Tammy, Sammy Gary at
• 4:30
Speaker 1: some point, but Gary.
• 4:30
Speaker 3: Was returned to Sunder.
• 4:33
Speaker 1: I think that was before then I had Hodor, who Molley,
• 4:37
  Speaker 1: my cousin.
• 4:37
Speaker 3: Took because and then there was Burton Bernice.
• 4:39
Speaker 1: And then Burton Bernice, and then Doug and then ray
• 4:43
Speaker 1: j short lived. And we're going to get another one
• 4:46
Speaker 1: though there's one in my orca.
• 4:49
Speaker 2: Oh wait, you're bringing it from my I think.
• 4:50
Speaker 1: So that's the plans of right now there and we'll see.
• 4:54
Speaker 3: Remember when Bernice tumbled down, that was Tammy. It was Tammy.
• 4:58
Speaker 1: Tammy would follow me. Bernice would never fucking follow me.
• 5:00
Speaker 1: She would hide from me.
• 5:02
Speaker 3: Another funny story that I don't know if translates to words,
• 5:04
Speaker 3: because I think you had to be there. But Chelsea
• 5:06
Speaker 3: used to live on this giant hill. I'm not not exaggerating.
• 5:11
Speaker 3: It was huge and also it down really steep. So
• 5:15
Speaker 3: when Tammy was new and when Chelsea gets dogs, they
• 5:20
Speaker 3: don't look the best. When she first gets him, I
• 5:23
Speaker 3: don't know how to say that. She had a good heart,
• 5:25
Speaker 3: but she had very little hair. She had all these
• 5:28
Speaker 3: patches of hair and just looked like a hot mess.
• 5:31
Speaker 3: And so Chelsea and I were gonna go walk to
• 5:32
Speaker 3: play tennis at the bottom of her street, and we
• 5:35
Speaker 3: look up and Tammy had tried to run to meet us,
• 5:39
Speaker 3: but went on the steep part of the hill. So
• 5:42
Speaker 3: I'm not putting anything on this down this giant hill
• 5:48
Speaker 3: and everything, and then just kind of like shook it
• 5:50
Speaker 3: off and walked away.
• 5:52
Speaker 1: I was just like this step.
• 5:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, I have no clue how Tammy lived. To tell
• 5:55
  Speaker 3: about that.
• 6:00
Speaker 2: Well, I have one caller for us today and I
• 6:02
Speaker 2: have a couple other little questions, but we could just
• 6:03
Speaker 2: keep to one call.
• 6:04
Speaker 1: Well, first we want to talk about his fitness program.
• 6:06
Speaker 1: That's what he's here to promote. We want this for women.
• 6:09
Speaker 3: Thank you. By the way, this means a lot. Yeah. Yeah,
• 6:11
Speaker 3: because I quick backstory on my app, but I started
• 6:15
Speaker 3: it three years ago and then this past week it
• 6:19
Speaker 3: was a third party app service because I'm a tech
• 6:21
Speaker 3: moron and the program I'm proud of it. We have
• 6:26
Speaker 3: twenty five thousand people that do the app. It's a
• 6:28
Speaker 3: lot of people. Wow, which is you know, and it's
• 6:30
Speaker 3: really cool because I, you know, since I've known you,
• 6:33
Speaker 3: I've essentially just seen the same ten clients in person
• 6:36
Speaker 3: every time. So it's been a great way to do
• 6:38
  Speaker 3: you want to.
• 6:38
Speaker 1: Talk about the other people you trained? Do you want
• 6:40
Speaker 1: to mention their names? Or do you not? Would you
• 6:41
  Speaker 1: rather not?
• 6:42
Speaker 3: I mean it's going to just make you sound like
• 6:43
Speaker 3: a douche. Yeah you can, yeah, okay.
• 6:47
Speaker 1: Justin Timberlake, Jesse Beale, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, You've trained
• 6:52
Speaker 1: lots of basketball players.
• 6:54
Speaker 3: Well, so the interesting thing about that is that's what
• 6:58
Speaker 3: I like about the app is. You know, when I'm
• 7:00
Speaker 3: moved to LA, I didn't have a celebrity training background.
• 7:03
Speaker 3: I trained hockey players in Massachusetts, and then I moved
• 7:06
Speaker 3: here and got connected to you and some other people,
• 7:09
Speaker 3: and celebrity is an interesting thing to me as someone
• 7:13
Speaker 3: who comes from New Hampshire and like doesn't really it's
• 7:16
Speaker 3: kind of funny to me, like you name dropping that
• 7:19
Speaker 3: makes me seem like a starfucker, and really I just
• 7:22
Speaker 3: like watch ESPN all day. But there's a perceived expertise
• 7:26
Speaker 3: that comes from training celebrities, so like, thanks for that.
• 7:31
Speaker 3: But the training is I feel like training is I
• 7:35
Speaker 3: always say it's one of life's equalizers. But the training
• 7:38
Speaker 3: that you do is the exact same training that I
• 7:40
Speaker 3: did with moms back in Massachusetts. Is the same training
• 7:43
Speaker 3: that's on the app, because it's like, you know, I
• 7:45
Speaker 3: think people think I hate the term celebrity trainer because one,
• 7:49
Speaker 3: I feel like it's just a douchey term, but two,
• 7:51
Speaker 3: I think they there's this connotation like we're doing these
• 7:54
Speaker 3: wild workouts, right and at every point in the eleven
• 7:58
  Speaker 3: years we've trained.
• 8:00
Speaker 1: Which is the longest relationship I've ever had with any man.
• 8:03
Speaker 3: Brothers, but think about it, we work out with dumbbells
• 8:06
Speaker 3: and a bench and very you know, basic workouts and stuff.
• 8:10
Speaker 3: And the training actors thing is funny to me because again,
• 8:15
Speaker 3: you know, I'm sure there's a lot of fields like this.
• 8:17
Speaker 3: I'm sure your hair people benefit, your makeup people benefit.
• 8:20
Speaker 3: There just is a perceived expertise with celebrity. But when
• 8:24
Speaker 3: I think of actors, you know, as somebody who came
• 8:26
Speaker 3: from an athletic training background, I look at trainers that
• 8:31
Speaker 3: train the athletes and be like, well, they really know
• 8:33
Speaker 3: what they're doing, and actors, I'm like, those are like
• 8:35
Speaker 3: the theater kids that aren't really that athletic. So the
• 8:38
Speaker 3: training isn't always what it's hyped up to be, as
• 8:43
Speaker 3: you know, but is it hyped to be though? No,
• 8:45
Speaker 3: I think that you know, a lot of people probably
• 8:48
Speaker 3: know of me, which is great because I train you
• 8:51
Speaker 3: and people like you, famous people. But at the same time,
• 8:55
Speaker 3: I think you would agree with me. This isn't a knock.
• 8:57
Speaker 3: Our workouts are very.
• 8:58
Speaker 1: Average, you know, but I'm very strong.
• 9:01
Speaker 3: Yeah, you're really strong, but now I'm.
• 9:03
Speaker 1: Lifting like thirty five. I'm just squatting with like thirty
• 9:05
Speaker 1: five pound dumbbells and stuff.
• 9:07
Speaker 3: We do thirty five and awesome.
• 9:09
Speaker 1: And I'm tinier and stronger than I've ever been at
• 9:12
Speaker 1: fifty one years old. First of all, So any ladies
• 9:14
Speaker 1: that are watching this or listening to this, like just
• 9:18
Speaker 1: you know, this whole myth about weightlifting and this idea,
• 9:21
Speaker 1: this kind of fallacy that it makes you bigger is
• 9:23
Speaker 1: not true. It makes you smaller.
• 9:25
Speaker 3: But I think what what I'm trying to do with
• 9:28
Speaker 3: this app is just basically bring the training that I
• 9:32
Speaker 3: do with you and my other clients to everyone that
• 9:35
Speaker 3: has to say you know, because for the people listening,
• 9:38
Speaker 3: Chelsea works out with dumbbells and a bench at hurt
• 9:40
Speaker 3: you know, and slightly more at my house, but not crazy,
• 9:43
Speaker 3: and you know, with good programming and just slow and
• 9:48
Speaker 3: steady progression. It goes along with how long is the course?
• 9:51
Speaker 3: Each program six weeks, but there's seven total programs. And
• 9:54
Speaker 3: then what I basically did is what I created that
• 9:58
Speaker 3: just came out a week ago. That's is when I
• 10:00
Speaker 3: first started my app. It was a test to myself
• 10:04
Speaker 3: to see if I could do it as a tech moron,
• 10:06
Speaker 3: but also just see who was interested. And I learned
• 10:09
Speaker 3: that I overshot my audience a little in the sense
• 10:13
Speaker 3: I thought they were going to be more gym people
• 10:15
Speaker 3: like me. But there's a lot of beginners, and so
• 10:18
Speaker 3: that is not there's no judgment to that. I think
• 10:21
Speaker 3: that everyone follows the same process. And when I was
• 10:24
Speaker 3: scrolling my phone last week with your videos, I realized
• 10:29
Speaker 3: we didn't do any videos for like the first three
• 10:31
Speaker 3: years we trained, and I just shared like pictures of
• 10:34
Speaker 3: you to just say, oh I trained, celebrity whatever. But
• 10:36
Speaker 3: your workouts were nothing to even they weren't even post
• 10:39
Speaker 3: worthy because you use no because you're new to it.
• 10:43
Speaker 3: And but my point is, I think that the online
• 10:48
Speaker 3: fitness social media world shafts beginners a little bit because
• 10:54
Speaker 3: because people really like think of you know, people post
• 10:58
Speaker 3: the hard stuff, the novelties stuff, the cool looking move
• 11:02
Speaker 3: in order to get clicks. But everyone that is doing
• 11:05
Speaker 3: those moves started with the basics. But we never share
• 11:08
Speaker 3: that because it doesn't look cool. And I never share
• 11:10
Speaker 3: that with my clients because I'm not trying to throw
• 11:12
Speaker 3: them under the bus and say, here's Chelsea lunging with
• 11:16
Speaker 3: five pound dumbells. But you did, and now you're lunging
• 11:18
Speaker 3: with thirty pound dumbbells, and I'll show that because that's badass.
• 11:21
Speaker 3: But you know, the thing about it is like if
• 11:25
Speaker 3: somebody listening to this without a training background tried to
• 11:29
Speaker 3: do what you do now after training with me for
• 11:32
Speaker 3: eleven years, they'd hurt themselves. And so it's not just
• 11:36
Speaker 3: you know, the further along programs are what you're currently doing.
• 11:41
Speaker 3: You know, we have programs if you've never done it,
• 11:43
Speaker 3: it's to kind of build up because I think, think
• 11:45
Speaker 3: about how when I met you, I came to your
• 11:50
Speaker 3: house and you had dumbbells up to eight pounds and
• 11:52
Speaker 3: we worked out on a deck and that was it.
• 11:55
Speaker 3: And so we've come a long way since then. But
• 11:58
Speaker 3: I think that when enough time goes by to forget
• 12:00
  Speaker 3: that stage.
• 12:01
Speaker 1: But so the program instructs people how to, like what
• 12:04
Speaker 1: level to start with right, Yes, for beginners or people
• 12:06
Speaker 1: who are just getting into.
• 12:07
Speaker 3: Wait, it totally walks people through. I set out to
• 12:11
Speaker 3: make it as close to training the person as you
• 12:14
Speaker 3: can get. So each each exercise from like every warm
• 12:17
Speaker 3: up move. You would actually hate it because you think
• 12:20
Speaker 3: I talk too much, But I give a one and
• 12:22
Speaker 3: a half minute right now tutorial for every single move. Okay,
• 12:27
Speaker 3: well I do it safely, how much weight to do,
• 12:28
Speaker 3: how to start whatever, and so you can. Everyone has
• 12:31
Speaker 3: to walk before they run. And I think that most
• 12:34
Speaker 3: women that aren't lifelong gym heads come into it with
• 12:39
Speaker 3: fear either about bulking up or getting hurt, and so
• 12:41
Speaker 3: I think that I really just shoot to meet people
• 12:44
Speaker 3: where they're at and start slow and then building.
• 12:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, but also just to know that like that is
• 12:48
Speaker 1: not first of all, as we get older, we need
• 12:49
Speaker 1: to be stronger. Period. It's for your bone density. It's
• 12:52
Speaker 1: so good for your bone density. It's so good for
• 12:54
Speaker 1: your like melean muscle mass. Yeah, your hormones. Everything, Like
• 12:57
  Speaker 1: if I don't get a workout in for a couple
• 12:59
Speaker 1: of days, I start to get like ordinary, which is
• 13:01
Speaker 1: not a thing I would ever thought. I would say,
• 13:04
Speaker 1: you know, and even when I'm not with him, which
• 13:06
Speaker 1: is most of the time because now I'm traveling a lot.
• 13:09
Speaker 1: But like I have the same situation.
• 13:11
Speaker 3: You've actually tried the app? I know you won't, but
• 13:13
  Speaker 3: like I, I'll try it.
• 13:14
Speaker 1: Tell people how they can download the app?
• 13:17
Speaker 3: How do they do through the link on my Instagram? Okay,
• 13:19
Speaker 3: and they have this It's cool. I tried to make
• 13:23
Speaker 3: it very user friendly. I have seven programs and you
• 13:27
Speaker 3: can select which one you want in the series, and
• 13:30
Speaker 3: the more programs you buy, it adds like crazy discounts
• 13:33
Speaker 3: on top of it gets progressively cheaper and it's you know,
• 13:35
Speaker 3: it's it's a very cost effective, simple program.
• 13:39
  Speaker 1: We love it.
• 13:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, we love it.
• 13:40
Speaker 1: Did you do we have fitness questions?
• 13:42
  Speaker 3: I do?
• 13:43
Speaker 1: Okay, we have some couple of squetch of callers. Yeah, okay,
• 13:46
Speaker 1: you want to put your headphones on?
• 13:47
Speaker 2: Yeah? So, Carla says, Hi, Chelsea and crew from down Under.
• 13:52
Speaker 2: I need some help and have nothing in the toolbox
• 13:54
Speaker 2: for my current situation. I'm a forty four year old
• 13:57
Speaker 2: professional CPA living independently with multiple gleurosis. It's been about
• 14:01
Speaker 2: eleven years living with the diagnosis, and I've always found
• 14:04
Speaker 2: refuge in movement and exercise. My MS diagnosis was the
• 14:07
Speaker 2: best motivation to explore activities that challenge and support my body.
• 14:11
Speaker 2: I work out around four days a week, walking outdoors, pilates,
• 14:14
Speaker 2: and swimming. I see a physio who has been life
• 14:16
Speaker 2: changing with craniosacral therapy, but a sudden onset of fatigue
• 14:20
Speaker 2: is making it impossible to continue my normal workout schedule.
• 14:23
Speaker 2: I'm very deliberate and sensible with my workouts, but would
• 14:26
Speaker 2: like some tips on how to manage fatigue and working
• 14:28
Speaker 2: out and how I could start simple workouts at home.
• 14:31
Speaker 2: I'd love to get safely into weights and have no
• 14:33
Speaker 2: idea where to start. Oh perfect, Yeah, I have some
• 14:36
Speaker 2: basic dumbells and a bar bell at home and unsure
• 14:38
Speaker 2: if I should start at two kilograms, ten kilograms or
• 14:41
Speaker 2: twenty kilograms. Do you have any tips on where to start?
• 14:44
Speaker 2: My goal is functional strength?
• 14:45
Speaker 1: Carla, Hi, Carla love this Hello, Hi Carla ing Hi, Hi.
• 14:51
Speaker 1: This is my personal trainer. So this has been Bruno
• 14:54
Speaker 1: and he just launched an app that you could exercise
• 14:57
Speaker 1: app and not just launched you launched his newest exercise app.
• 15:01
Speaker 1: So this is a perfect app for you. You can
• 15:03
Speaker 1: download it. He has you know.
• 15:05
Speaker 3: A program that I would recommend for you is called
• 15:07
Speaker 3: intro To Strength Training. It's a beginner program. But listening
• 15:11
Speaker 3: to what Catherine just said, I think it's really important
• 15:15
Speaker 3: to remember with exercise that the devil's in the dose,
• 15:18
Speaker 3: and so when you're really struggling with fatigue. Really, I
• 15:23
Speaker 3: think that exercise gives you energy as long as you
• 15:27
Speaker 3: don't overdo it, but if you overdo it, it'll suck
• 15:30
Speaker 3: your energy. So I really recommend people I always say
• 15:34
Speaker 3: seven out of ten hard in each set and seven
• 15:37
Speaker 3: out of ten hard in each workout. So what that
• 15:40
Speaker 3: means is you do your set where you could do
• 15:45
Speaker 3: a few more reps, but you stop short because I
• 15:48
Speaker 3: think going to true failure is where injury happens and
• 15:51
Speaker 3: that'll zap your energy. And then stopping the workout before
• 15:56
Speaker 3: you feel crushed will go a long way and you
• 15:59
Speaker 3: just make long term, sustainable progress. So I would say
• 16:04
Speaker 3: consistent workouts two times a week, but not crushing yourself.
• 16:10
Speaker 3: I think that too many people look at a workout
• 16:13
Speaker 3: program as all or nothing. I'm either just going to
• 16:16
Speaker 3: go all in or it's not worthing. I do that, yeah,
• 16:19
  Speaker 3: and I think.
• 16:19
Speaker 4: That, yeah, I've been doing that in the paw.
• 16:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, and I hadn't to me very well. Yeah. Part
• 16:24
Speaker 3: of why I was so grateful that Chelsea had me
• 16:27
Speaker 3: on here is I think a lot of the mainstream
• 16:29
Speaker 3: info to women about strength training. I love it because
• 16:33
Speaker 3: I love that strength training is becoming more popular, but
• 16:36
Speaker 3: I think a lot of the advice comes from men
• 16:39
Speaker 3: and women like me who have worked out hard their
• 16:41
Speaker 3: whole life and just like it. But they're trying to
• 16:44
Speaker 3: make those recommendations ubiquitous to everyone that just is brand
• 16:49
Speaker 3: new to training, and so it doesn't have to be
• 16:51
Speaker 3: that intense. A lot of the stuff that I see
• 16:54
Speaker 3: is telling women with no background that you have to
• 16:57
Speaker 3: go to failure, that you have to do prints and
• 17:01
Speaker 3: super heavy weights, and I don't think you need to
• 17:05
Speaker 3: do any of that. I think it wouldn't make sense
• 17:07
Speaker 3: for a woman just starting out to train like they're
• 17:11
Speaker 3: training for the NFL Combine. So it's sort of a gentle, simple,
• 17:15
Speaker 3: sustainable program will go a long way. And also, remember
• 17:21
Speaker 3: the new buzzword that I actually like is called progressive overload.
• 17:25
Speaker 3: People teach women to progressively increase the weights, but I
• 17:29
Speaker 3: think the message that gets lost and can actually be
• 17:31
Speaker 3: defeating for women is that for example, Chelsea is lifting
• 17:36
Speaker 3: thirty five pound dumbbells now, and we started with five
• 17:39
Speaker 3: or ten pound dumbbells, so that's only like five or
• 17:42
Speaker 3: six weight increases in eleven years. So I think that
• 17:46
Speaker 3: sometimes when you really break it down like that, if
• 17:50
Speaker 3: we were able to increase the way, you know, I
• 17:54
Speaker 3: see a lot of simple recommendations on mainstream women's podcast
• 17:57
Speaker 3: telling women to try to bump the weights up five
• 18:00
Speaker 3: pounds every time, and that sounds good and that works initially.
• 18:03
Speaker 3: But if that were the case Chelsea and I have
• 18:05
Speaker 3: conservatively done two thousand workouts, she'd be lifting ten thousand
• 18:09
Speaker 3: pounds on every single exercise.
• 18:11
Speaker 1: But I also think that something that you're saying is
• 18:14
Speaker 1: really important, like with your level of energy and everything,
• 18:17
Speaker 1: Like sometimes you can go in the gym and sometimes
• 18:19
Speaker 1: I'll just do a twenty minute workout and that gives
• 18:22
Speaker 1: me the energy that I need. You don't have to
• 18:24
Speaker 1: commit to doing forty five minutes or an hour every
• 18:27
Speaker 1: single time. And if you do download event's programs, each
• 18:30
  Speaker 1: class is.
• 18:31
Speaker 3: What it's like, thirty forty minutes, thirty.
• 18:33
Speaker 1: Forty minutes, but you know, you don't have to finish
• 18:36
Speaker 1: the whole thing. If you're not feeling it, you just
• 18:38
Speaker 1: kind of want to do a little bit of something
• 18:40
Speaker 1: when you feel, you know, exactly right.
• 18:42
Speaker 3: I think it's also important to note too that when
• 18:45
Speaker 3: people say social media is a highlight reel, so is fitness.
• 18:48
Speaker 3: And I'm guilty of that in the sense that I'll
• 18:52
Speaker 3: show the day that Chelsea lifts thirty five pounds because
• 18:55
Speaker 3: I'm trying to make her look good. I'm trying to
• 18:57
Speaker 3: make myself look good and whatever. But we're not doing
• 19:01
Speaker 3: that every time, if that makes sense. Some days we
• 19:03
Speaker 3: might only lift twenty pound dumbills and live to fight
• 19:06
Speaker 3: another day when she's tired or feeling sore, you know whatever.
• 19:10
Speaker 4: Oh one hundred percent. Yeah, I've really been overdoing it
• 19:13
Speaker 4: in the past probably three months, and that sort of led.
• 19:15
Speaker 3: To a bit of burnout.
• 19:17
Speaker 4: So totally at the moment, I'm just you know, some
• 19:20
Speaker 4: days it's only just a walk around the block. But yeah,
• 19:23
Speaker 4: I think getting into a program and knowing that even
• 19:25
Speaker 4: if I just do like the twenty minutes thirty minutes,
• 19:28
Speaker 4: maybe one day it might be ten minutes. Like I think, Yeah,
• 19:31
Speaker 4: I like to keep that habit of doing that daily
• 19:35
Speaker 4: or you know, at least four or five times a
• 19:37
Speaker 4: week some sort of movement and exercise because I found
• 19:41
Speaker 4: in those times where I let it all go, well,
• 19:44
Speaker 4: then you sort of don't want to pick it up again.
• 19:46
Speaker 4: So it's yeah, having another tool to give me a
• 19:50
Speaker 4: bit of motivation do something a little bit differently. Don's
• 19:53
  Speaker 4: really great?
• 19:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, great, great, Thank you so much for calling in.
• 19:57
Speaker 1: Thanks Carlos, so amazing, Thank you.
• 20:00
Speaker 2: By all right, do we want to do another question?
• 20:06
  Speaker 3: Sure?
• 20:07
Speaker 1: Yeah, let's do another question.
• 20:08
Speaker 2: All right, Well I have getting my confidence back as
• 20:13
Speaker 2: an athlete, or my brother in law works.
• 20:16
Speaker 1: Out too much? To your brother in law works out
• 20:18
  Speaker 1: too much?
• 20:18
Speaker 2: Okay, so Amy says Dear Chelsea. My younger sister has
• 20:22
Speaker 2: been married for two years and has been with him
• 20:25
Speaker 2: for six years, and six months ago they had a baby.
• 20:27
Speaker 2: It should be noted that it was him who initiated
• 20:29
Speaker 2: and pushed to have a baby, not her. My sister
• 20:32
Speaker 2: has absolutely loved being a mother, and she's objectively a
• 20:34
Speaker 2: fantastic parent. Her husband, on the other hand, has been
• 20:37
Speaker 2: absent ever since the baby was born. He's at the gym.
• 20:40
Speaker 2: She gave birth on a Thursday, he came home on
• 20:42
Speaker 2: a Saturday, and then Monday morning he began twice a
• 20:45
Speaker 2: day workout routine. He works out for an hour before work,
• 20:48
Speaker 2: then works all day, and then three times a week
• 20:50
Speaker 2: meets up with his friends to go rock climbing for
• 20:52
Speaker 2: several hours. On the weekends, he often goes climbing or
• 20:55
Speaker 2: to the gym, or has evening plans with friends. Meanwhile,
• 20:58
Speaker 2: my sister is home with the baby. Of all of this,
• 21:00
Speaker 2: my sister has spent most of these past six months
• 21:03
Speaker 2: alone with the baby. He seems truly addicted to fitness.
• 21:06
Speaker 2: He's always been interested in it, but ever since the
• 21:08
Speaker 2: baby was born, it's gone to another level. My sister
• 21:11
Speaker 2: has talked to him many times, but he always tells
• 21:13
Speaker 2: her that he loves being at home, but he also
• 21:15
Speaker 2: loves being social and sees it as his social time
• 21:17
Speaker 2: with his friends. When she forces him to stay home,
• 21:20
Speaker 2: he's miserable and constantly checking his phone. I'm not sure
• 21:23
Speaker 2: what to do as the sister in law. I love
• 21:25
Speaker 2: my sister and it's obvious to me she isn't very happy.
• 21:27
Speaker 2: He doesn't see it as a problem because when he
• 21:29
Speaker 2: is home, he's very present. That being said, I don't
• 21:31
Speaker 2: know how to help. I have to stop myself from
• 21:33
Speaker 2: saying things like, wow, he sucks. The truth is he
• 21:36
Speaker 2: is great when he's home. He's just never home. Any
• 21:39
Speaker 2: help would be appreciated. Sometimes an outside perspective is what's needed.
• 21:42
Speaker 1: Amy, I have a brother in law who over exercises. Yeah, yeah,
• 21:46
Speaker 1: he gets home, he works out, then he goes on
• 21:47
Speaker 1: a bike ride, then he goes da da da da.
• 21:49
  Speaker 1: But I mean, yeah, I don't ever, I don't know.
• 21:51
Speaker 1: I don't know. But depnds a new dad and a trainer.
• 21:54
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, as a dude, I kind of get it.
• 21:56
Speaker 3: I would imagine that both the guys you're talking about
• 22:00
Speaker 3: exercise more for mental reasons than physical reasons. I find
• 22:05
Speaker 3: working out to be a good mental outlet for me,
• 22:08
Speaker 3: and I'm in new dat. I mean, I think this
• 22:11
Speaker 3: guy kind of needs to realize if you're gonna have kids,
• 22:14
Speaker 3: you have to give up some shit in the beginning.
• 22:16
Speaker 3: It's just like very you know, that's just what it is.
• 22:19
Speaker 3: My life got pretty small the last four months. And
• 22:23
Speaker 3: I understand where he's coming from in the sense that
• 22:27
Speaker 3: sometimes I miss my old life, but I think that
• 22:30
Speaker 3: it is what it is. But in terms of working out,
• 22:32
Speaker 3: working out twice a day is just silly. From a
• 22:36
Speaker 3: workout perspective, So I think that's probably more of a
• 22:38
Speaker 3: mental outlet, and I think with in terms of working out,
• 22:44
Speaker 3: I will tell you when I get busy, I have
• 22:47
Speaker 3: a gym in my garage, but I just work out
• 22:49
  Speaker 3: for twenty minutes.
• 22:50
Speaker 1: I would just call him out to his face. As
• 22:52
Speaker 1: a sister in law, you have every right to do that.
• 22:54
Speaker 1: As a sister in law.
• 22:55
Speaker 3: This doesn't feel like a workout question to me. If
• 22:58
Speaker 3: I feel like I just put on like my new
• 22:59
Speaker 3: dad hat and I'm like, dude, you just got to
• 23:02
  Speaker 3: like be home.
• 23:02
Speaker 1: It covers two bases. Yeah, the expertise in two areas now.
• 23:06
Speaker 3: But I will say as a guy, I feel like
• 23:10
Speaker 3: men when they deal with stress. For me, a big
• 23:13
Speaker 3: part of working out is that the common emotion I
• 23:17
Speaker 3: feel like as life comes at me is anger, more
• 23:21
Speaker 3: so than sadness or stuff. And so for me, working
• 23:25
Speaker 3: out has always been an outlet. I when I'm pissed off,
• 23:29
Speaker 3: I just lift really heavy, and it's like a lot
• 23:32
Speaker 3: more socially acceptable than cussing out your partner, cussing out
• 23:37
Speaker 3: your neighbor, you know whatever. Actually, I'll tell you, you know,
• 23:41
Speaker 3: Chelsea and I are pretty close in a lot of ways.
• 23:44
Speaker 3: I view her kind of like a sister. I think
• 23:46
Speaker 3: you would probably agree in that way. In three or
• 23:50
  Speaker 3: four days, I.
• 23:51
Speaker 1: View you as a sister.
• 23:52
Speaker 3: Also, Hey girl, no, but I she said she sent
• 23:55
Speaker 3: me this text, and I was just she caught me
• 23:57
Speaker 3: in the wrong mood, and I just responded like a dick,
• 24:01
Speaker 3: and then I just had to, like, a couple hours later,
• 24:03
Speaker 3: I was like, oh, sorry, but I think that I
• 24:06
Speaker 3: understand where this guy is coming from, because.
• 24:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's hard for guys with the dead, kids for
• 24:12
Speaker 1: the dead. It's really really hard. This has been the
• 24:14
Speaker 1: hardest four months of Ben's life.
• 24:16
Speaker 3: It comes with amazing things, and it's also really hard.
• 24:19
Speaker 3: And at the same time, I think everyone tells me
• 24:23
Speaker 3: that these are the times I'll miss, and so I
• 24:26
Speaker 3: think this dude that's rock climbing with the homies is
• 24:29
Speaker 3: going to regret that.
• 24:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, one, Like, I get that it's a social outlet,
• 24:32
Speaker 2: but like, guess what, you had a baby, like you
• 24:34
Speaker 2: don't get to hang out with the Yeah, yeah.
• 24:37
Speaker 1: You should definitely say something. I would say something as
• 24:38
Speaker 1: a sister in law, I would say something.
• 24:40
Speaker 2: And keep saying something until he like comes correct. What
• 24:42
Speaker 2: would you say is like what's acceptable for a new dad,
• 24:45
Speaker 2: like should he just be doing is before work?
• 24:47
  Speaker 3: Ones like I don't know. I mean, I don't want
• 24:49
Speaker 3: to ever comment on people's relationships. We have a situation
• 24:53
Speaker 3: my wife and I both work from home, so it's
• 24:56
Speaker 3: the other extreme of just we're just both a home
• 24:59
Speaker 3: all day every day. I do think it's important to
• 25:02
Speaker 3: take space in you time, but definitely not every day
• 25:04
Speaker 3: and definitely not for four hours.
• 25:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, and definitely not with a newborn like Siler like,
• 25:09
Speaker 1: you have to like acclimate and give up things. You
• 25:12
Speaker 1: have to sacrifice. You've made a sacrifice, You've had a child,
• 25:15
Speaker 1: now you have to This is why many people don't
• 25:18
Speaker 1: have children, because they can't they don't have room for
• 25:20
Speaker 1: this kind of sacrifice. But once you have them, you
• 25:23
Speaker 1: have to make the sacrifice and you have to give
• 25:25
Speaker 1: up some of the things you love, not forever, but
• 25:28
Speaker 1: for the you know, that incremental important period of time
• 25:32
Speaker 1: to make sure that your baby is okay and that
• 25:35
  Speaker 1: you're bonding totally.
• 25:36
Speaker 3: And one thing that I've learned what I was talking
• 25:38
Speaker 3: before about the devils in the dose, I think when
• 25:40
Speaker 3: you talk about taking me time, the same things apply.
• 25:43
Speaker 3: So I know for my wife, Nicole and I are
• 25:48
Speaker 3: recharging right now. Might be like just thirty minutes solo,
• 25:51
Speaker 3: you know, and that seems acceptable. I think four hours
• 25:54
Speaker 3: every day is. It's not you know, you're going to
• 25:57
Speaker 3: probably run into some significant real life relationship problem.
• 26:02
Speaker 2: Okay, Well, let's get Ben back To's baby.
• 26:04
  Speaker 1: Okay, Ben?
• 26:05
  Speaker 3: All right?
• 26:05
Speaker 1: Ben? Do you want to give your workout program another
• 26:08
Speaker 1: shout out for our minisode?
• 26:09
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's called Bruno Strong. It's so strong. It's all
• 26:13
Speaker 3: through the link on my Instagram Instagram, and I have
• 26:18
Speaker 3: a website, Ben Bruno dot com, and I'm very thankful
• 26:23
Speaker 3: for you giving me this opportunity because I find that
• 26:25
Speaker 3: everyone that signs up for the program has really liked it.
• 26:30
Speaker 3: It's a weird thing delving into the online stuff because
• 26:34
Speaker 3: you know, I'm a true tech moron and you know,
• 26:38
Speaker 3: but as I've learned that if I just publish the
• 26:42
Speaker 3: workouts that I do with my clients and stuff, it
• 26:45
Speaker 3: has really resonated with people. And I appreciate you giving
• 26:49
Speaker 3: me your platform because a lot of the stuff that
• 26:53
Speaker 3: I do, I speak to other trainers and it's kind
• 26:55
Speaker 3: of like an echo chamber where we obviously all think
• 26:58
Speaker 3: the same and I think that exercise for people who
• 27:02
Speaker 3: haven't done it before, haven't done it consistently, it's truly
• 27:05
Speaker 3: life changing. I think, yeah, you know, I know that
• 27:07
Speaker 3: sounds like hyperbole. I think you would say it's changed
• 27:10
Speaker 3: your life totally, you know, making it part of your routine,
• 27:13
Speaker 3: and so I hope to just bring that to more people.
• 27:15
Speaker 1: Awesome, thanks for coming in, Ben Bruno, thanks for being here,
• 27:18
Speaker 1: and thanks for showing me for being such a ticket.
• 27:21
Speaker 1: You showed me how to edit a video this morning.
• 27:23
Speaker 1: Well you're working kind I know, he showed me. I
• 27:26
Speaker 1: was like, hey, I need to get rid of this
• 27:27
  Speaker 1: last part.
• 27:28
Speaker 3: I spent the last three years just swearing at my
• 27:30
Speaker 3: computer and my phone. But slowly but surely I'm getting better.
• 27:33
Speaker 1: Okay, all right, everybody download the app, start weightlifting, get
• 27:37
Speaker 1: your shit together. Summer is here. People.
