- speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: And welcome to episode sixty-five of Not Quite Nerds. I know right, perfect timing. Perfect speaker-2: It perfectly times. speaker-1: time. Like not we we've been talking for about fifteen minutes now. no cat. No cat. And as soon as we we say hello and welcome, best of life. This is my cute. speaker-0: I'm here. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-1: I ironically, I think, having been I'm now three hundred and sixty pages, three hundred and fifty pages into Dungeon Crawler Carl. speaker-2: How are you enjoying it? Because I did download it onto the Kindle and I've not started it yet. 'cause I lit I listening to you guys last week, just it's been in my periphery. I've been and I've been told by one of my friends who's very into the same stuff we are, Marvel and Okay, Lord of the Rings for me. I know you guys don't love it, but whatever. He was like, dude, you have to read this book. He's like, You loved Ready Player One, you love this stuff. Like you he goes, You need to read this book. speaker-1: Ready Player One is the the one that I've I I've closely associated with. and there's there is a Kevin Smith reference. yeah. and Donut is fantastic and Festa just reminds me of Donut. I think we should do whatever we need to do to Festa to get Festa to the point where he becomes Donut and he's able to talk and use group chat. because it's not necessarily the talking that Donut does, but the group chat which is particularly fantastic. speaker-0: I don't think I want to know what he's saying, because I'm pretty sure he's anti-Semitic. speaker-2: You would have that cat. speaker-1: Yep. Yeah. yeah. Something something you gotta deal with. Anyway, on this week's episode, we are gonna catch up on Mallow's Marvel Madness 'cause she's been moaning us, she's got loads she's she's sitting waiting for episodes now. speaker-2: Yeah. Yeah, we're we're apparently delaying her from from watching. speaker-1: I I think we are just slow I was gonna say but I think what we're doing is just slowly dragging those things in to make sure this lasts until just before. speaker-0: Yeah. 'Cause we're we're that good. speaker-1: Yeah. That means we are accidentally that good. Right? Even a broken clock is right twice a day. so we're just aiming to be right at that right moment. That's it's as simple as that. speaker-2: I also just want to say it's the season of hockey jerseys. So it is finally almost co even though today was almost seventy degrees, it is a hockey jersey season, so I will be wearing hockey jerseys more often than not. And I just wanna shout out, Save Daredevil again, even though does it need to be saved? We don't know. Is it a rumor? Is it something that Vincent D'Nafrio said? Who knows? But speaker-1: It's only a rumour if we mention it, Luch. If Mallory mentions it, it's not speaker-0: No, no, no, no, no. It's only a rumor when the fans say it. When it comes out of the horse's mouth, aka Vincent Diaprio, then it's not a rumor, it's fact. And the producer has said it and Charlie Cox has said it. So that is fact. Those are my sights. fact not opinion and not rumor. speaker-1: Yeah, but see, most of the stuff that we talk about has been said by a star or a producer or somebody and you're always like until it's until it's official, it's just a rumor. We don't do rumour. speaker-0: Let's go back to this. Let's go back to your fucking heroes for hire. Mallory, look, they were photographed together. It means heroes for hire. No, that was a rumor that was debunked at Comic-Con. Rumor versus speaker-2: Okay, first of all, we we never said it was going to be here as far. We were saying that they were going to be in Born Again. speaker-1: Mm-hmm. speaker-0: Play the tape. Matt, play the tape right here. Go back. I want you to put it here and you guys go through speaker-1: Yeah, and I I think what you you you're mistaken there is is we never assumed that was Heroes for Hire. We simply said Heroes speaker-2: That was here on speaker-1: for Hire. Yeah. We never knew that we knew that wasn't every speaker-0: Wait, I'm done. I hate you guys. Sixty-five episodes. speaker-1: Wait, we've finally broken it. speaker-2: We broke her. It only it it only took like fourteen months, but we broke her. speaker-1: We broke speaker-0: Yeah, speaker-1: her there's no way there's no way we'll break her now. she's been around so long. just un unbreakable at this point. She fits. speaker-2: By the way, great movie. Great movie. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Good movie. Good movie. speaker-2: And also I would go as far to say good trilogy, maybe not great trilogy. speaker-1: I I can't comment 'cause I've never watched the James McAvoy one. So speaker-2: Never did? split? You should check split out. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-2: You should. speaker-1: Yeah. I'll get there one day. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe that'll be one of the I'll do that universe. Mallory does the Marvel universe and I'll I'll do the three night Shyamalama Lama once. Shymalama ding dong. okay. So this week's show, Not Quite Nerds, we are gonna talk about Mallory's Marvel Madness. we are gonna talk about the new Avengers Doomsday trailer. I know Mallory will love talking about that. And then I've got a video I wanna play you guys just to get your impressions of it and and see how it makes you feel in your Olders. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: well and then I wanted to do I wanted to circle back to a year ago. speaker-1: Mallory's gonna circle next week. speaker-2: Okay. All right. All right. speaker-1: Okay, so let's go. Marvel's Mallory's Marvel Madness. Marvel's Mallory Madness. speaker-2: Mm-hmm. speaker-0: Alice Mallory's gonna lose her mind madness. speaker-1: Madness takes Mallory. speaker-2: If if the tracker is accurate, we left off with one twenty four. speaker-0: Yeah, we purposely stopped so we can dedicate sufficient time full speaker-2: That's right. speaker-0: mulvering. speaker-1: Definitely didn't rewatch it either. speaker-2: I did 'cause it's just that good. speaker-1: Exactly. speaker-0: So good. I saw it in theaters twice in one week and on opening weekend. speaker-2: That's what I did with Force Awakens. years ago. Well, 'cause I I had booked tickets I think for like I think it came out like on a Thursday. And I think I'd booked tickets for like Friday with like good fancy seats like with a recliner and everything. And then I had nothing to do the night it came out. And I was just like, let me just see if like the midnight showing is available. And I was just like, you know what? Screw it. I got tickets to see it at eleven o'clock in the morning. I'll see it at eleven thirty at night. So it's like twel literally twelve hours apart, less. And that's when I was living in Arizona. And I went and I was like, it was okay. And then I went and saw it in fancier seats and it was better, I think, because the seats I had were better. speaker-0: Yeah. Go. speaker-1: So I was gonna say that you said about going to see The Force Awakens twice, you said about Peak Cinema though was like two thousand eight, two thousand nine. Right I think the Force Awakens and the Marvel films were at the tail end of that. speaker-2: They were 'cause Force Awakens that was that was that was twenty fifteen, I wanna say. Yeah. Because I was in living in Arizona at that point. That was like a December release, I feel like. speaker-0: It was. I saw it at six AM and went to work. speaker-2: Yeah, 'cause I was I had been living in Arizona for I think we I think we arrived like the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and I didn't start my new job until January. So I had the entire month of December of just exploring Phoenix, Arizona. Spoiler alert, not a whole lot to see. At least there wasn't at the time. at least maybe it's changed now, but there wasn't then. and I was just like, so I just go to see movies and stuff like that and Force Weekends was one of them. So yeah. speaker-1: The reason I say that was so this the summer of two thousand eight we had Iron Man. we had The Dark Knight. Now I remember The Dark Knight, I remember going to watch The Dark Knight with a whole group of people from camp. speaker-0: I think I organized that. speaker-1: You did organize it. Yeah. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-1: And I mean that was when you went to the cinema on a Friday night and it was packed. Whatever Friday night. Yeah. It didn't matter what films were being released, every single screen was packed. There was cues everywhere. for me that was peak like I get people will say, Well, these films broke box office and whatever. Again, if we look at ticket sales, we find that Gone with the Wind is still by far speaker-2: Still, still by far too much, speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-2: yeah. speaker-1: But I just think that was every single week was busy. Cinema was part of society, whereas now I feel like cinema's on the fringes of society a little bit. speaker-2: I feel like it's like what we've talked about before. It's because it used to be, for a tenor. You could go to the cinema for a tenor on a Friday night and get your drink, your bag of popcorn, and a ticket. Yeah. And now it's it's an event. It's like would I rather get you know, would I would would I rather go to the diner for a for a decent meal or would I rather go to the movies? speaker-1: that summer you had Dark Knight Iron Man, Indiana Jones, Crystal Skull, Slum Dog Millionaire Twilight. speaker-2: yay. speaker-1: Tropic Thunder. Step brothers. speaker-2: That was a great summer. That was a great summer. speaker-0: Despicable me summer was despicable me summer. speaker-1: Ancock came out that summer. no, Kung Fu Panda was that summer and WALLI. speaker-2: Okay. speaker-1: And Benjamin Button was out that year. speaker-2: That's a good year for cinema. Do you know you know how we movies? Yeah. speaker-1: Slum Dog Millionaire is is in there as well. And the Hurt Locker came out. But didn't do the whole cinema thing, did it? Because the Hurt Locker that was the whole point with the Hurt Locker was that found its love. speaker-2: I found it's a lot more D V D sales and stuff like that and blockies and whatnot, yeah. speaker-1: There's a question for ya, anybody who's out there listening. what is the what is peak cinema year? What was the best year for cinema? And give us your reasons why. Anyway. speaker-2: I'm gonna give that a think. speaker-1: Back back to Deadpool and Wolverine. That's speaker-0: Being a menace. speaker-1: cool. Your anti Semitic cat's been a menace. speaker-0: Okay, who watches he's like a rabbi. speaker-1: Deadpool Wolverine, is it is it as good? Clearly based on both your opinions, yes it is. It's still as good. speaker-2: Better than it's better than Deadpool two. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: It is better than Deadpool 2. speaker-0: Which is funny because it's the first Disney Deadpool. So you would think they would have toned it down, but I think part of the humor of it is by toning it down, they almost made it raunchier. Like all the discussion about how they can't discuss Coke. And they just don't stop to speaker-2: Yeah. You wanna may build a snowman? Do you wanna go skiing? they know all the stuff. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: maybe that made them more creative. Maybe that's what it was. It forced them to be more creative. speaker-0: Yeah. It was also the first movie I think I saw on like release day because normally I was like in the city and my friends were up in Poughkeepsie and they were all watching it. And so I always had to watch it like kind of things late. And so that was the first one I got to experience opening weekend. And that I think also has like left such a good memory. That, every time somebody was on the screen and the whole theater lost their mind. and so obviously it's you know they're coming, but I think I still get them warm and fuzzy when they show up. speaker-2: Yeah. Same. I I felt the same way when I mean obviously we all know Hugh Jackman is back in as Wolverine, hence the title. But when Evans shows up as Johnny Storm speaker-0: You don't know it. You don't know it. speaker-2: He's gonna say it. speaker-0: He's all of us. He's all of us. We're so excited to have Kat back on the screen. He's gonna say it and then he doesn't say it and he says, And speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: we all lose our minds. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: I don't and for me, I feel like even though I know it's gonna happen, there's like a little part of me that's still hoping you're speaker-2: Yeah, that's still hoping that he's Cap yeah, I know. Yeah. But let's be real though, Johnny Storm and that interaction that he has with Deadpool and Wolverine, that would not be as funny if it was if he was playing Captain America. speaker-0: No. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: Also Cap wouldn't have said anything that Worm said about Cassandra. speaker-2: No, it was just Yeah, okay. speaker-1: Just on the Johnny Storm thing, the post credit scene's brilliant. speaker-0: Amazing. speaker-1: Because y it is just one of those ones where you're just like you don't see him say it, so you're just like, he's lying. He's lying about this. And then the post credit scene, he says it and you're like, yes. speaker-2: Well from from what I from what I re from what I recall, that was what got Evans to say okay. He's like he goes, We have this if you want to say it. He goes, I'll do the movie, but I have to say this. I'm you can't pull out of it. you can't cut this from the movie. and that was one of the things I think that brought him to reprise that role again. speaker-1: I like the fact that it's got the original sabre tooth in. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-1: Yeah, like they they've gone back and speaker-2: Not for all that long. speaker-1: No, no. speaker-0: Mm-hmm. speaker-1: Yeah, they they brought him back. there's so many characters that they throw into it as well. There's so many characters that they bring in from different ideas. And it's great that they're able to do that because they're like, Well, we're jumping across to the main MCU and this is our chance really to bring the T VA to a cinema audience. Mm-hmm. To explain things, to have a little bit of a tease about what they're involved with. and and to do that. So I think that's quite clever. And that makes it an important feature as we move on to doomsday. speaker-2: Force. speaker-0: We talk a lot about fan service and what is gratuitous fan service. And I think this movie perfectly balances on that line because there's a lot of cameos that you wouldn't know their cameos if you didn't watch the original X-Men. Yeah. but it's so fun as somebody who had just rewatched it. Like I remember watching it in theaters being like, that guy looks familiar. But now that I just recently rewatched the whole X Men series, it and I know it just hits different and it's and that's good fan service where you don't have to explain it. If you know, you know, and if you don't know, you're still enjoying. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-2: You say the same thing about Jennifer Gardner's Electra, Leslie Snipes' blade. We all knew about Danning Tatum's We speaker-1: Yeah, we did. We knew that was coming. But speaker-2: knew that was speaker-1: the blade thing is brilliant because of of the previous relationship. And the fact that they actually sort of nod towards that previous relationship. You're like, This is brilliant. This is fantastic that you've you've done this. And then the the athlete joke is amazing. Yeah. speaker-2: I thought joke's great. speaker-0: So good. speaker-1: so I talked about when we did Ragnarok. I don't think Ragnarok stands out. The more you watch it, the less funny it becomes. I agree. I think Deadpool stands up. speaker-2: I think it does stand up. speaker-0: I think one of my it always gives me a good chuck when they're fighting in the minivan. And it they play the song for quick second from Greatest Showman. And so things that like it's so meta that like it doesn't make sense in the movie. It's just there for the fans. Yeah. It's so good. speaker-1: And I and I I do hope we get more like even the build up to it. The Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman build up to it, the whole thing where it was like, Is he, isn't he? Before they announced it was Deadpool and Wolverine, you know, there was the whole thing where he's sitting on the sofa and they're walking around in the background and there's all sorts of stuff happening there. Like all of that I thought was just a joy to sort of see and build up to. And then we finally got this film, which actually played well. stood up well, stands up well, but also does what it needs to do in order to help the MCU along. speaker-2: It does. I it does both. It it stands on its own. It gives the fans something that we've that people have been clamoring for for ye for years, maybe even decades, at this point. But it it it does move the story and that I think is something that some of the other Marvel films that have come up that came up s in between Edgame and this didn't really do a great job of. They didn't tie things together. They didn't really move the story. You didn't see any kind of real journey or heroic, heroic arc. You saw that really both with Deadpool and Wolverine, because the Wolverine that Hugh Jackman is playing is not the Wolverine from that we know. He's not from the the X-Men universe that we that we know. He is a broken and beaten down Wolverine, one that's drowning his sorrows in his universe. speaker-1: Even all the Wolverines. Yeah. When he's at least looking for the Wolverine. Henry Campbell. speaker-2: Also, but yeah, yeah, we we get the the cavalry. speaker-1: Yeah. Brilliant. Like I that speaker-0: The Henry Cavill move. Cause I don't know if you guys noticed, but every single Henry Cavill. speaker-2: Okay. speaker-0: Yeah, the punt the double punch. Every time he does it, he does like every movie he's in, he does it, and he does it in here with the the his little speaker-2: Claws this time. Yeah. speaker-1: I still wanna see that. I still wanna see Henry Capital as for three. speaker-2: I would yeah, even just a one show 'cause we we y you get a taste of it, but it may it does make you want more. you've you've seen other actors that they've talked about who could take over for Hugh Jackman afterwards. And they've made a few comparisons. I think that the act even the actor who was in the show The Bear. speaker-0: Jeremy Allen White. speaker-2: yes. He was he's been rumored. I know you say you hate the rumor rumored speaker-0: It's a rumor, as long as you're saying rumor. speaker-2: rumor on the as w as a short list actor to to take over Wolverine. And I threw Henry Henry Cavill is probably too old at this point because he's he can't be that much younger than Hugh Jackman. henry Cavill's gotta be what? Mid late forties, early fifties? speaker-1: Hugh Jackman. speaker-0: Henry Cavill is forty three and speaker-2: And Hugh Jackman's what? speaker-0: huge Ackman is speaker-1: fifty eight. speaker-2: Okay. So it's fifteen years difference. we get fifteen. speaker-1: Yeah, it's all green in there. speaker-2: Yeah. But also Cavill's huge. He's also really tall. He's fucking Superman for Christ's sake. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. And that but then Chief Jackman's not sure. speaker-2: No, Hugh Japan is six foot. But I he Cavill's bigger, Cavill's taller. that's the cool part that I found about playing the Wolverine video game, is that the Wolverine is small. speaker-1: Short King standing up for Short King's other speaker-2: Have you noticed being 'cause Max, have you played it yet? speaker-1: It's gonna be after Christmas by the time I play it. speaker-2: The Sabretooth character, which obviously you can't play as, but you interact with, is freaking enormous. Yeah. He's like Hulk size. He's like eight plus feet tall. Yeah. He just looks that way because speaker-0: short, but he's shorter than the rest of He's five seven. speaker-2: Yeah. So but I would love to see a a Henry Cavill Wolverine. I just feel like he I don't know how I feel about it being a permanent thing. Maybe a wolf. Maybe he's a variant like he is in Deadpool Wolverine. speaker-1: Yeah, the the the outsider here, of course, is Daniel Radcliffe. speaker-2: Which would be interesting, but I don't I don't see him doing it. speaker-0: Do you need another Wolverine though? Like I said this weeks ago. speaker-1: Two X Men with a wolf. speaker-2: You can't do actually. speaker-0: Okay, then just leave it as you, Jackman, forever. Who cares? Like Charlie Cox speaker-2: That's what Ryan Reynolds said. He goes, We're gonna be we're gonna have you do this until you're eighty. He literally says it, I think, in the movie. speaker-1: I I think Daniel Radcliffe physically fits it. Especially if you've seen him recently 'cause he's quite physical now. He's he's built a little bit more, but also he's quite speaker-2: He's I'm listen, I'm taller than Daniel Ratcliffe. Yeah. That's saying, I am. Yeah. He's five six. I'm five six and a half. Like speaker-0: Actually no, he's five five. speaker-2: Even so even more I'm even bigger than he is. I probably still also wear him by thirty pounds. But I just I I don't see him doing another because that if if whoever they cast as Wolverine, you know it's gonna be a multi picture deal. A combination of X Men movies, Avengers stuff or whatever. I don't see I don't I don't see Daniel Ratcliffe doing that because A He definitely doesn't have to work if he doesn't doesn't want to. And he said that in interviews. He only does projects that make it that interest him and they're one offs kinda indie films. Like that movie he did with Sandra Bullock a couple of years ago and Channing Tatum, which was actually really funny. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. That was really funny. speaker-2: But it was really funny, right? I don't know what it's called, but it was really good. speaker-1: It was one of those that Prime threw out and yet if they'd put it in the cinema I think it'd have made five hundred million. speaker-2: I agree. That was a gr that that was great. even though I don't remember the name, which is don't read into that. speaker-0: Is it the lost city? speaker-1: It is the lost city. speaker-2: Lost it. speaker-0: Okay. speaker-1: but I think Daniel Radcliffe has said he might be interested. It is funny because if you look speaker-2: I'll be okay with that. speaker-1: if you look at Daniel Radcliffe's like IMDB or it they give the gross for his career, it's like eight point three eight billion or something. And you're like, Yep, seven billion of that or seven and eight billion of that is from the Harry Potter franchise. Just like No, I th I think I think I don't know. I think Daniel Radcliffe would be a good myth. He is two inches too tall. In the comic books, Wolverine is five three. speaker-2: But he's closer than speaker-0: That you've been on another podcast. speaker-1: I think we're just plowing on with Mallory. I think we it's not like we've got anything else to cover. It's not like you've watched any recent speaker-0: Discussed today, boys. speaker-1: okay, okay, we'll move on, we'll move on. Another question for the audience who should be the next Wolverine? Who should be the next Wolverine? okay. So Deadpool and Wolverine, effectively, we could go on about it for hours 'cause we all love it. It's fantastic. It's got loads of jokes. There you go. You you need to hide that away though, don't you? You need to cover his name, you need to black out his name at the bottom. speaker-2: No, I I just shit, I forgot. Sorry, Internet. speaker-1: U too. Me too. Me too. Is that speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-1: now Luch has been U tuto'd. No. speaker-2: Been you tubed. speaker-1: okay. So if you were to kind of rate Deadpool in Wolverine. speaker-0: I have no notes. I have no notes. speaker-1: I don't think there is another ten on the list. speaker-2: I don't think there is a ten. speaker-0: No no. speaker-2: Wait. speaker-1: Give nines to I am Groot. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: A nine to Venom? speaker-2: I didn't even give it a ten. I might have given a ten. Okay. speaker-0: Let me give you my reasoning. We've spent more time discussing the future potential Wolverine than the movie. It okay, so one it's funny, it holds up, it gives us the fan service out being fan service, but then it also moves the story forward. And it's good every time you watch it. What other one of those that's a nine does all those? speaker-2: So I gave it I originally had a I I gave it a nine. And the reason why I gave it a nine is The reason why Reason why gave it a nine is because I do think that they could have done a little bit more with the kind of that entity that's like eating all of the variant people like and that's what what what's like that random planet where they are like that nothing planet? They don't really explain what that thing is. speaker-0: Feam Loki? speaker-2: I've seen Loki. speaker-0: It's literally from Loki. speaker-2: I I know, but there's probably a lot of people who haven't seen Loki. speaker-1: That's probably said it moves the story on and introduces something that would probably be pi pretty foreign to people who wouldn't want to watch sixteen speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: hours. speaker-2: That's my that's my point. speaker-0: But you get the concept. You get it's where they get zapped to when nobody wants them and you get that there's this entity that's eating them. speaker-2: Yeah. I don't know. speaker-1: I I'm I'm swithering between an eight point five and a nine. Wow I'm actually on the spreadsheet as we speak 'cause it isn't a perfect movie. speaker-2: It's not perfect. speaker-0: No, but I'm not rating these based on how perfect they are. I'm rating speaker-2: No, it's true. speaker-0: them based on enjoyability. rewatchability. speaker-2: W rewatchability. speaker-0: does it make bored out of my mind watching it like Cloak and Dagger season two and Luke Age? speaker-2: You always have to get that dig in. All I know is Bushmaster, okay? That's all I know. No. speaker-0: No. speaker-1: Okay. So Okay. I think the general gist of that is is when we score all of these as an average score, is there's a good possibility Deadpool and Wolfream's gonna be the boost right. speaker-2: It might be. It might be because I don't have an average. One day I will speaker-1: I it's easy enough to do. okay. Next up was Venom three. I'm assuming you're gonna give that an eleven. speaker-0: It was better than Venom 2, I will say. speaker-1: it i it couldn't have done a lot. I've still not seen Venom three. It couldn't have done a lot to be worse than Venom two. I've not seen Venom three because Venom two is so bad. speaker-0: Venom 2 is so bad. That's why I didn't want to watch it. Yeah. No, watch it. Forget Venom 2 ever exists. Watch Venom 3. speaker-2: You need to have watched Venom two to watch Venom three? speaker-0: No. speaker-2: okay, then that's even better. speaker-0: No. Yeah. But the thing you need to know, honestly, is the end of brand new not brand new day. no, brand new day. No way home. No way home. No way home. All you need to know is the end scene there. And you're fine. speaker-1: Okay. okay. Yeah. So he's been sent and this is after that. Now I'm in treaty? Okay. Excellent. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-1: Okay. speaker-0: Yeah. So I will say Danny Rojas is back. speaker-1: Danny Rojas is back. Gotta love Danny Rojas. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: Although not as attractive as his sister, but a much better footballer. Danny speaker-0: Much better footballer. Did you speaker-1: Rojas. speaker-0: did you see that they let him play for some team? speaker-1: It's not they've not let him play. They've given him a f a professional contract. He is a professional member of a football club in Mexico. They're like a third division Mexican football team. He always wanted to be a professional footballer and acting was like his side business thing. and due to injury he gave up trying and then this has brought him back and he's he's they've given him a f professional contract. Danny Rojas plays under his real name, not Danny Rojas. speaker-0: No, whatever it is. His actual name. Wait, I just wanna see if I put this in. Hold on, give me a second. speaker-1: Have you seen the Roy Kent Alexa advert? speaker-0: No. speaker-1: There's an advert with I forget his name, but the the guy that plays Roy Kent. and he stabs his toes Brett Goldstein and he stabs his toes and then and Alexa goes, Would you like me to play music really loud? So you can let it out. And then he swears a lot. and then she goes, Your family are at the door, they've been waiting outside. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: also just while we're sidetracking on adverts, did you see the new Walmart advert? A Muppet Christmas Carol? Boston Goggin. speaker-0: I mean it's also very possible that like our Walmart adverts are not the same. speaker-1: It's the American Walmart advert. speaker-0: Who knew? speaker-2: Yeah. Well 'cause Asta is UK Walmart 'cause they're own speaker-1: Not anymore. No, Walmart gave up on it. No, Walmart left. When they realised we had employment rates here, they were like, We cannot make a business. speaker-2: okay, fair enough. speaker-1: We cannot charge really low prices 'cause we don't pay our staff. speaker-2: Got it. Yeah. speaker-1: So Venom Venom three. speaker-2: Venom three. I can't give it a score 'cause I've never seen it. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: Watch it. I would recommend watching it. I really enjoyed it for multiple reasons. I thought there was gonna be another little throwback, but I there wasn't. because what's his face is in it. Hold on. sorry guy from Spider-Man. The actor that plays Curtis Connors is in it. speaker-2: the lizard? speaker-0: Yeah. But the list it's not but it's not Curtis Connors. speaker-2: That's Steve Merchant, isn't it? speaker-0: No. speaker-1: Research fans. speaker-0: Yeah. Steve Merchant is the guy from Logan. speaker-1: Yeah. Rita Fans, the kicker from the replacements. speaker-2: Yeah. Yeah. speaker-1: streak out of Cardiff. speaker-2: The leg. Yeah. speaker-0: So I thought it was gonna be a holdover from Brand New Day. It wasn't, so I'm spoiling that for you guys, just so you don't have the same anticipation I did. but it was good. I think you see more of the Venom what's the character's name, the hot man. speaker-2: A rock. speaker-0: Yeah, the Venom Eddie relationship. you learn more about where Venom came from. Juno Temple is in it. should have started with that. We're just having a whole Ted Laster. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: Whole Ted Lasto reunion. no I I enjoyed it. I it it's so much better than Venom Two. honestly, it almost makes up for how bad Venom two was. speaker-2: So what would you give it as a score? speaker-0: I'm gonna give it I'm gonna give it a seven. Seven and a half. speaker-2: That's respectable. Seven and a half. speaker-0: Yeah, I'm gonna go to seven and half just 'cause really did enjoy it. I think I told somebody to watch it after the fact. speaker-2: So so you are putting it on the same level, by the way, as the Marvels. Okay. speaker-0: Yeah, that's fair. I agree with that. speaker-2: Okay. speaker-0: Yeah. I definitely enjoyed it. I do need you guys to watch it though. speaker-1: So we can explain what? speaker-0: No, not to explain because there is a point in it that does show up on Did It Make Mallory Cry part three. So but speaker-2: so we have to watch it for that. speaker-0: we still haven't even gotten to part two yet, but just so you guys know it is coming. speaker-2: so speaker-1: Venom's such an interesting character anyway, and it is a shame that Venom's part of that Spiderverse that Sony refused to share with the world. Yeah. because there's so many characters that Venom could play with. And in the comic books it's great because basically what he does is highlight the best or worst quality of the person he takes control of. So there's great versions of Venom where he is free reign, like evil, evil, evil, hitman, killer, mass murderer. So yeah. speaker-2: Ma to that point, Max, qu comic book question for you, because I'm not gonna pretend to be anything close to an expert and an expert in Venom. I know peripheral stuff at best. Has he ever taken over I'm just gonna throw out two characters in the comic books. Has he ever taken over Deadpool? I feel like that's a really easy speaker-1: Not that I know of, but I I'm sure there'll be a variant somewhere where there's that. speaker-2: That would interesting. And is there ever a venom like cap? speaker-1: Now you've said a Venom Cap, I think there is a Venom Cap. But again I think that's one of those alternative universe ones. speaker-2: Okay. I figured it such. I figured it would be like mainstream Captain America. But I just felt like you 'cause you're saying like he embodies like he's like the C level. speaker-1: Think about the what ifs, there's definitely been what ifs. speaker-2: Okay. speaker-1: I've read, but I'm sure I've seen a cat venom. Even if it was cover art. Okay. Might well have been a cover art thing. Okay. But absolutely. So the next up is aptly timed Agatha all along. speaker-0: Luch, have you finished that? speaker-2: I have not finished that. It is on my I have like I'm doing something I usually don't do, and that's where I have multiple shows going at once, and just depending on how I feel that day is what I watch that night, which is very it's very not me at all. Like I had I had House going, so I was re-watching House. Mm-hmm. I finished House. I've restarted 24. That from that from season one. I've got I'm re watching season two of Discovery right now. Also got that on the background. I got Walking Dead going, 'cause again, it's Halloween theme. I'm trying to that's about as Halloween y as I can get. so I'm I'm doing stuff that I'm not really used to doing, having multiple shows at once. I'm like so many apps to play with. Thank speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-2: you. It's it's it's it's it gives me a little bit of anxiety, but it's it's okay. I mean speaker-1: I I going to twenty four, I tried rewatching twenty four recently and it just felt so dated. So dated. speaker-2: is it it it I mean it's full of nostalgia with the flip phones and like all of all of that, you know, like but I love the tack I was trying to explain it because Steph has never seen it before. So she's caught like bits and pieces when I've been watching it at night. And she's like, So what's the premise? I'm like, Well, this is one of those shows where you how I would get annoyed that there's no long term shows anymore? Well, this this show, every season, is twenty four episodes because it takes place over the course of twenty four hours. And I just was like literally it's just like he's a secret agent type guy who works for the government and it's just the worst day of his life every season. Yeah. Yeah. speaker-1: And what what I loved about it was the fact that even the commercials were part of the story. It was like gonna speaker-2: story. speaker-1: get in the car. It was an hour episode and so it was like I need I'll meet you there in whatever and then they would use the commercial as speaker-2: That that five minute commercial break, when the time clock comes back on the screen, it's the first thing you see. It literally is five minutes and twenty-three seconds later, or whatever the hell it is. Yeah. So Yeah. But no, but to answer your original question, Mallory. That long tangent. Tangent number like seventeen. I have not finished Agatha all along and speaker-1: Our shower listener is gonna be hammered before work. speaker-2: yeah, yeah, seriously. Yeah, she's gonna be walking and be like, so six plus four is twenty-four. speaker-1: Six plus four is Deadpool and Wolverine. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: Henry Cavill should be the next Wolverine. speaker-2: Even though he's six foot three. speaker-0: Luch is taller than Daniel Radcliffe. speaker-2: Which is true. You proved to be proud of me too. I am. There's speaker-0: Really proud of you today. speaker-2: not many people that I can say that I'm talking. speaker-1: That's an achievement that is all new. It's not like that was genetics. It's not like you had any control over it whatsoever. speaker-0: Not convinced that when Luch was a child he wouldn't sit there in his bed stretching himself, trying to get a little taller. speaker-2: I straight up listen, I'll say this to all of our listeners and and and and audience. I definitely begged my parents, please give me human growth hormone. I want to be taller. I I did. I wanted to be tall. speaker-1: But they bought him moon boots and hung him from the door frame. speaker-2: If only they did that, that might have helped. I don't know. speaker-1: Dude, all you need to do is spend a couple of weeks in space, right? You get taller when you're in space. speaker-2: Yeah, but then you shrink back down again. speaker-1: Yeah, but that's you measure yourself when you get back and then you're that hate forever. speaker-2: Yeah, so a a baseball player, who everyone's like, when they say like, yeah, you're really this tall, you're not. Yeah. They used to say Dustin Padroia was five foot nine. I'm like, there's no way Dustin Padroia is no five foot nine. speaker-1: Yeah, like a like it's the same with football players where they're like he's six foot three and you're like, Yeah, on a pedestal boots speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-1: on with this long studs speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-1: Yeah. Okay. Anyway, Agatha, all along. Otherwise we won't get to Daredevil this week and we'll make you wait. speaker-0: No, we're gonna have to wait for Daredevil for next week. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: Because we also you have a thing to talk about, I have a thing to talk about, we gotta pin Daredevil. speaker-1: We can scrap things, that's not a problem. People will come back and listen next week. They always do. speaker-0: We'll do the editable next week. It's fine. speaker-1: so Agatha roll along, we actually said we need to watch this because it's Halloween. speaker-0: It's Halloween. plus Vision Quest is out. Yeah. speaker-2: I have a question before we jump into Agatha all along, and it ties in because I have not sat down and watched Vision Quest yet. I know the first handful of episodes is out. Obviously I've s I saw WandaVision. Mm-hmm. And I know this is part of like that trilogy or whatever you want to call it. Or is it, is it not? I don't know. speaker-0: Yes. speaker-2: It is. So do I have need to watch Agatha to understand Vision Quest? speaker-0: I don't know is the short answer. I have watched the every episode of Vision Quest that has been released. Okay. And for those episodes, you do not need to watch. Well, mm. No, you do. You do. speaker-2: Okay. All right. So I gotta finish Agatha before I can jump into those requests. Okay. All right. speaker-0: Yep, yep, sorry. No, I'm thinking about it. speaker-2: I just I I well I'm glad I'm asking. Yeah. So that I don't go into vision quest and then get confused. speaker-0: No, 'cause I think you'd be confused as to who the kid is. Okay. Yeah, 'cause you wouldn't understand why how he's there. Yeah. speaker-2: Okay. All right. So yeah, we'll hold we'll hold on that. speaker-0: Yeah, watch. what I really enjoyed about Agatha Long Matt ha you have seen it before? Yeah. Okay. So the second biggest reveal I forgot about until it like was dropped on my feet again. And I was like, right. And I loved that. The the first big reveal, I'm not gonna say it because Lucy need watch it. and I don't wanna s and I know we're past Statue of Limitations are spoilers, but speaker-2: Way past it. So it's okay speaker-0: I know, I know, but I feel like it's such a good surprise. Okay. That I'd rather you experience it. speaker-2: I will te I here, I'll make you a promise. If I I will text you when after I've done when I've watched it, and if it's the thing that you're saying it's is, just give me a thumbs up or whatever. speaker-0: I will. I will. Okay. but it's good. I love the cast, and you guys know I'm not a big Aubrey Plaza fan, but I love her in this show. She Yeah. I like Aubrey Plaza. I won't Yeah. speaker-2: I like her in Parks and Rack. What else she's done? speaker-1: She's good in this because she's it's different to what you see what prepasses do normally. speaker-0: Yeah. I love Katherine Hahn. I think we really get to explore more of who Agatha Harkness is. I don't know how similar she is to the comics as this character, but I love it. I love that things are slowly unraveled in every episode. So yes, it's one big arc to because I think it's six episodes, seven episodes, I don't remember. But you get a little more, a little more, a little more. until the final episode when everything's revealed. So I really enjoy it. I think it's fun. I love the I I just love Catherine Hahn. I couldn't picture anybody else as Agatha Harkness. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: I I ended I have the two songs on my Halloween playlist. speaker-1: What what's fantastic is the fact that she was never meant to be anything more than the character in Wondervision. And her character was so well received that they created a s speaker-2: It was a fun character. I I will give her credit. the first few episodes of her character I really I really was into. The la that's what like the last the last episode or two of of of Wandivision is where that show kind of lost me. Like I really enjoyed the first bunch of episodes. And then I think that's why I never really sat down for Agatha all along, because I wasn't really I didn't love how One Division ended. My big issue was the whole dark hold shit. And but that harkens back to Agents of Shield, which I think I've discussed before. But, you know, I I guess I had to get over my hangup. speaker-0: Get over your hang up. It doesn't have the same feel. It doesn't s same feel as the last two episodes. I think it has more of the feel as the beginning of WandaVision, if that makes sense. A little campier, a little more fun. There's songs. Anytime Katherine Hahn is singing, it's a good day. speaker-2: I speaker-1: It it is campy, it's fun, it's creepy, it's got it's it feels a little bit hocus pocus. speaker-2: Okay. That's a good analogy. speaker-1: it's got that hocus pocus feel about it. but again it's clever because it does actually help and move the story along in a in a way. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: Yeah. And I can definitely see 'cause okay, so yeah, I can see how this is gonna be the trilogy. Like how Agatha Long does set up at least the beginning of Vision Quest for certain things, but then I I'm curious if they tie everything back together at the end. speaker-1: Well this is this is where I'm curious because surely we'd that would have leaked somewhere. You'd speaker-0: I don't know. I don't know. speaker-1: you'd think. But then also because the way people have been feeling and so focused on everything else that's happening, could this be the ideal point to bring her back in and to do something and to tie that and then lead into doomsday? speaker-0: also say there's so many Easter eggs from the first episode that I didn't pick up on until I re watched it. And then I was like, that's what they're doing. Yeah. speaker-1: Now now we're talking about it. The whole thing about one of Doom's witches has been that the witch is Doctor Strange because of the third eye. What if the witch was Vision because of speaker-0: Because it is a little thing. Could be. speaker-2: Do the mine still? speaker-1: What one's wonder, one's vision? speaker-0: W white vision doesn't have the minestone. speaker-1: No, but the mask is just a mask. speaker-0: No, no, no, but the white white vision has something where the minestone was. Which does look like but it's not the minestone, it's something else. speaker-1: That could be interesting. we've all been misdirected into the Doctor Strange theory, and actually we've got Vision Quest coming up just before Doom's Day. Is that a tie? speaker-2: Is that is that timed is that timed that way on for a reason? speaker-1: People are arguing of course that that that Wanda is one of his witches. So you could speaker-2: I could see that. speaker-1: go full circle here and pull that in and all of a sudden you've got a family of four and you've got four which is But hey. speaker-2: We will see speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-2: So now out of ten. speaker-0: I'm gonna give it an eight. I really enjoyed it. speaker-1: You've been too generous this week. speaker-0: I know. I watch some good stuff. I watch some real good stuff. speaker-2: Max, do you wanna wait to to score it? Do you want speaker-1: Yeah, I'll wait till I'll wait, 'cause I'm gonna rewatch it. speaker-2: Yeah. Yeah. Okay. All right. And we're gonna be saving we're gonna be saving one twenty seven. speaker-0: think we need time to discuss the first fifteen minutes speaker-2: Yes. speaker-0: of episode one. I need speaker-2: yeah, I got that text message. speaker-0: time. speaker-2: When I got that when I got that WhatsApp I almost went myself. That was how I speaker-1: So we can confirm that next week's episode will be Mallory's counselling session for the first episode. Yeah. speaker-0: Unwell. speaker-1: Yeah. Okay. so while we're still on the Marvel stuff, the question I had for Luch, more so than you 'cause you don't watch trailers, is did you see the World Series tie in to Doomsday? What about Ebbett's Field? Right. speaker-2: That's just that brings it back, because Ebbit's Field, I that's what the Dodgers played. speaker-1: Well it's the Dodgers that are playing. It's the Brooklyn Dodgers that are playing. Yeah. But also the New York Giants are present. speaker-0: I'm muting you guys. Wave your hands and you're done. speaker-1: No, it's it's more it's more baseball than speaker-2: Baseball because they tied it in. speaker-0: Brooklyn Dodgers, which don't exist, so speaker-2: They big speaker-1: So it's fantastic four. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: I wouldn't know. speaker-1: Reed Richards is in the trailer is thrown out the first pitch for the World Series. Or for a baseball game. speaker-0: I'm muting you. speaker-2: I I think it's just a game. Yeah, I think it's just a game. speaker-1: But it I it definitely excited me, the trailer excited me. And speaker-2: I mean and and it's very cool that they did kind of tie it in with World Series and stuff like that. I mean obviously it when they were gonna re be releasing that trailer, it could have been it could have very well been the Dodgers being in the World Series. Yeah. I mean, so which would have been even funnier. yeah, very cool. speaker-1: it was cool and it it was cool that way that they've edited it to include obviously the current players. speaker-2: Yes, very yeah, very cool. I it watching that trailer though, almost more so than the other trailer, it furthers convince speaker-0: Wave your hands and you're done. speaker-2: Okay, mute. Am I good? Are we muted? Just nod your head if we're muted. Nod your head if you were muted. speaker-0: I was muted. speaker-2: Okay, mute, mute again. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-2: It further convinces me that Loki is Cap. There's something about his eyes. Something speaker-1: Some studio. speaker-2: he's doing with his eyes, how the camera's hitting it, or something. Something twinkle. speaker-1: There's a line and it says Does this make you does this make you uncomfortable? Or does this still make you uncomfortable when he holds me or mere? Yeah. Right. Why why would he say that because speaker-2: Why would he when he was so excited? When he's like, I knew it. Why would he only the Loki is a but that also then questions now Loki is worthy? speaker-1: Well yeah, because Loki's held the whole universe together in the T. speaker-2: Maybe he worthy. So I guess at that point he is worthy. Yeah. So but yes, I'm I'm still convinced now that long haired Chris Evans cap is Loki. Yeah. So anyway, I guess all right. We're gonna wave now. Even though she can't hear us, we're waving. speaker-1: So I couldn't believe it when he showed up in the trailer 'cause I was like speaker-2: Either. I know it was crazy. I speaker-0: No you do this every time? Yeah. speaker-2: can't believe Ben Affleck was in the trailer. Yeah. Yeah. speaker-1: As the devil. speaker-0: You guys are you guys are predictable. speaker-1: Yeah, and then when he started punching and then you realised it was Charlie Cox on the other side, I like, What speaker-2: Whoa. And then all of a sudden Bloodman and Chronic were there. it was just it was cacophony of crazy. speaker-1: Now there's a reference Deadpool needs to get in. speaker-2: Yes. Yeah. We do need Kevin and Jay to be in the next Deadpool movie as Bloodman and Chronic. Yeah. That would be fun. Okay. speaker-1: Mallory, you wanted to have a quick chat about loop resetting my challenge last Halloween. we are speaker-2: I know I failed. speaker-1: one year later. speaker-0: Here we are one year later. So we gave him seven things that we thought were hot were spooky, but Luch approved spooky. speaker-2: Lucha proof cookie, which which the bar is very low. Yeah. speaker-1: Erna saves Halloween. speaker-2: Which I love that movie by the way. Almost as good as Ernest Saves Christmas. I wanted to put that on. I was I was I was I was speaker-0: We're in spooky season. speaker-2: for Ernest. speaker-1: Zombies one, zombies two, zombies three, zombies four. speaker-2: was scared stupid. I got outvoted. Yeah. Yeah. speaker-0: Okay, so I had suggested creep show, which is by the Walking Dead guys. speaker-2: So I don't believe I watched Cree Show, but Steph has showed me a couple of episodes of Tales of the Crypt. speaker-0: that's the original. Creature is the remake. speaker-2: Yes. I have seen a few episodes of Tales of the Crypt and I would agree that it is luoch approved creepy. Yeah. it is something that I can watch when it's dark outside. speaker-0: Okay, so what I think it's a half point. speaker-2: Yeah, yeah I think I could get a half point. I watched the old old school. The the old version of it. I've not seen the new one, but yeah. speaker-0: I thought you would just like the new one 'cause it's Greg Nicotero. So does Walking Dead. but I'll give you a half point for that. Okay. speaker-2: Okay. speaker-0: Then Matt suggested Sabrina the Chilling Adventures. speaker-2: That was a Netflix show and speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-2: I have not watched that. speaker-0: Okay. St still highly recommend. speaker-2: Okay. speaker-0: I'm sure Matt is still recommending it. speaker-2: That's what, two or three seasons of that one? Four? Is it four? speaker-1: And speaker-0: Four. Maybe it's three or four. speaker-1: it's it's based in the Riverdale universe. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-2: really? Yeah. And it wait, was that always it was it always that way? speaker-0: Yeah. 'Cause of the comics. speaker-2: So you're saying the jughead and all that, that's all part with Sabrina? Yeah. Yeah. Really? good. Okay. All right. I'm learning. I'm learning things. speaker-0: Yeah. also Matt did say it last year. But whatever. He slept, he slept. Okay, so still half a point. Okay, then I suggested Castle Point on Hulu. Okay, which is a two season Stephen King anthology. With the not the youngest Skarsgard, but the the creepiest Skarsgard. speaker-1: Stallen. speaker-0: No. The one who stellar speaker-1: Not Peter. speaker-0: Who plays Pennywise? speaker-1: If I'm not stellar. speaker-0: So Stellan's the father who's in Thor. speaker-1: okay. Pizza. speaker-0: Is I don't think it's Peter, but I think it's a P. speaker-2: Well, do I get points for watching it? Both of them? Watch speaker-0: which one? Wait, which speaker-2: the remake and the original. speaker-0: Okay, that I'll give you points. speaker-2: 'Cause I did I have Steph did show me that. Bill's car's card, yes. speaker-0: Okay, Luch, what'd you think of it? speaker-2: Okay. I hate clowns. speaker-0: Ha ha ha. speaker-2: I I've always hated clowns. Yeah. So this is everything I hate in one movie. clowns, creepy town, demon type stuff. Okay. Yeah. Here's what I will say. speaker-0: Well which did you like better? speaker-2: Okay. I think the question should be which one made me scared more? Because the one that made me scared more was the was the remake. speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah. That one's speaker-2: Because the other one I can't not see. speaker-0: Tim Curry. speaker-2: I can't not see Tim Curry. So I'm just so every time Pennywise is on the screen, I'm just thinking about, Tim Curry, you know, the the asshole Matre D from Home Alone Two. Like that's all I'm seeing in my head. Like what so when he's being creepy, I'm just seeing Tim Curry. Whereas where's the where's this one, the newer one? It's completely I don't know the actor. Okay. speaker-0: Bill Scars Guard. speaker-2: But I guess how they've done the makeup or whatever, how they shot speaker-0: That's his eyes. He can make his eyes do that. speaker-2: Okay, that's okay, that part's that's even more telephone. But that that one that one did make me scared more. I appreciated that one more. I liked the actors, how they transitioned from kid to adult. I feel like they did a really good job of that. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-2: like connecting like the kid from Stranger Things to what Bill Hayter. I thought that was really good. but yeah, that one speaker-0: recommends I'm gonna add to it, I think you should watch Welcome to Dairy. speaker-2: Okay, so that's the that's that's the that's the show. That's the peacock. Okay. speaker-0: It's it's HBO Max. HBO Max a prequel. Okay. It takes place what Pennywise comes every twenty seven years. It takes place twenty seven years before it part one. speaker-2: Okay. Yeah. So no one from the the original is in it then, except me. No character. speaker-0: No. No and the kids, 'cause the kids aren't born yet. speaker-2: Well your kids aren't born yet, of course. But But no, I watched yeah, well okay. All right, welcome to Terry. speaker-0: I really enjoyed it. Bill Skarsgard is in it and you learn that he's not really a clown. He's just dressed as one. speaker-2: It's even worse. That that that's a choice. This is a choice that you've made. speaker-0: Yeah. But it does explain why he made the choice and that I liked. speaker-2: Alright, fair enough. Yeah. speaker-1: Well looking for the same reason as why the Joker made that choice. speaker-0: Why did Joker make the choice? that's fair. speaker-1: That's what I'm saying, we're still looking for the reason after after after Watch His Face's two Joker films. speaker-2: What, Joaquin Phoenix? Yeah. speaker-0: Okay, so now Luch, I'll give you half a point for that too. So now you have one full point. One point. Okay. Matt also recommended yellow jackets. speaker-2: No. speaker-0: Okay. Matt, you still recommend it? speaker-2: I have the list. I do I still I still have the list. It's literally in my nightstand. I did write this down. speaker-1: Yeah, I still recommend yellow jackets. speaker-0: Okay, Matt also recommended the strain. speaker-1: yeah. I thought you'd like that one. speaker-0: Apocalyptic, right? speaker-1: Yeah, it's speaker-2: I did see that. speaker-1: vam hi vampire esque. speaker-2: No, I didn't see that. I did I did watch that. speaker-1: Sci-fi channel. speaker-2: That was a little creepy. But because I c because it was a little fantasy sci-fi with the vampire stuff, I was able to kind of get through that one. So I think I'm I I don't know if I'd watch it again, because it still creeped me out. I did watch it. speaker-1: Th this is all gateway horror looch. We're we're deliberately trying to lead you into gateway horror, right? This is We're the dealer, we're just asking you to just have a little smoke. A little smoke of this little pipe and it'll make you feel good and then once you've had a little smoke we'll give you the real stuff. speaker-2: Okay, s and speaker-0: Taste. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: and then eventually Friday the thirtieth. Okay, which also I rewatched Nuts. speaker-2: That's the one with Jason, right? Or wait, is that the one with no, is that Freddie? speaker-0: No, that's Nightmare on Elm Street. speaker-1: You'll end up dying if you answer Jason to who's the killer on the first one. speaker-0: It's true. speaker-2: Which one of them is the one that goes into your brain when you sleep? speaker-0: Freddy. speaker-1: Ready. speaker-2: Okay, so I've seen part of that. speaker-0: Yeah. Johnny Deppson it. Friday the thirteenth. Yeah. speaker-2: Yes. Yep. Steph likes that movie. We actually have speaker-1: If Lucha's seen any of it, he's seen the remake. the speaker-0: I know. speaker-1: one where they try to humanize the killers when they went through that phase with Halloween where they're like, Michael Myers is only the way Michael Myers is 'cause his family were abusive and you're like, No, it was scary. speaker-0: Yeah. also fun fact Halloween three only movie without Michael Myers in it. speaker-1: Season of the Witch. speaker-0: Yep. 'Cause it was supposed to be an anthology. And then everyone hated it so much they went back to Michael Myers. All right, final one. I suggested Goosebumps, the Disney Plus show. speaker-2: Did see him. Yes. speaker-0: You did? Okay, so look, you have three points out of seven. That's still failing. speaker-2: pretty good. It's not quite passing, but it's it's pretty good. speaker-1: It depends. It depends on what where you're at, right? UK university, forty to forty nine percent is not a failing grade. speaker-2: That's true. I'm good then. I'm good. I passed in the UK. I remember speaker-0: No, US rules. speaker-2: I remember Max and Alistair having to explain that to my parents that no, he did really good. He got sixty. speaker-1: Like UK universities they're like undergrad, you don't get over sixty five. Not happening. Never happening. We're not giving it to you. You don't speaker-2: No one has speaker-0: You guys start at zero and we're speaker-2: One seventy two. speaker-1: There we yeah, whereas you guys you're like, you wrote your name, congratulations, there's forty marks up front. speaker-0: Everybody starts at a hundred and then you take take it away. You guys add points, we take away points. speaker-2: Yeah. But I will say that I did watch a scary movie this weekend. And I have some thoughts on it. I speaker-0: What movie? speaker-2: watched The Birds. speaker-0: They're speaker-2: Nineteen sixty four from that from nineteen six. speaker-1: Six times. speaker-0: Okay. speaker-2: I watched that. And first of all, it wasn't terrified. It was not terrifying. It was a thriller. It's really not bad. But the part that kept taking me out of it was this You guys have both seen speaker-0: Actually I haven't seen it. speaker-2: it, right? No? Okay. Max you Max, we knew you speaker-0: I I know the premise. I n actually know how they filmed it. I know how pissed off Mariska Hagarday's mother was. I get it, I know. speaker-2: My issue isn't the movie at all. It's the actor who plays like the male love interest guy, the lawyer, and his younger sister. They're thirty years apart in age. How how? speaker-0: when a man and a woman love each other once every thirty years speaker-2: But like his mother looks like maybe fi twenty years older than him and then the daughter there's no way that she could have had both kids. speaker-0: Let's say. speaker-1: So we're talking about Mitch Brainer. speaker-0: Okay, so that's Rod Taylor. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: And then who plays who's his sister? speaker-2: Who by the way, I just wanted to punch in the face when she first comes on screen. She is so incredibly annoyed. speaker-0: No, I think why that's not Mariska Haggerty's mother, that's What's Your Face's grandma? speaker-2: I know. They're supposed to be playing like a brother and sister. He's like he granted he speaker-0: Is it Veronica Cartwright, I think plays the sister. Okay, so she was born in speaker-1: Nineteen years between them. speaker-0: Well speaker-2: That's what I'm saying, there's twenty years between them. speaker-0: Yeah, for the record, my grandma and her sister were sixteen years apart. speaker-2: Okay, so I guess but okay, fine. They may speaker-1: A different time as well. You've got to remember, right? People had five, six kids back then because four of them were gonna die. So they just had to keep going. speaker-0: literally that's how my grandma came helped her brother died. speaker-2: So fun. In in actual age, fair enough. Twenty years, plausible. But maybe it's just because the I feel like people just looked older than really what they were just back then, or just maybe on camera. Like, but he looked like he was in like his like late forties and she looked like she was ten or eleven years old, or how old she was. Like it just they just physically they looked so like, how is that? Like you could be more his daughter. I could plausibly pull that together. But sister, which is my thing. And also how fast they drove in that little town. My God. Max, go back and watch a couple of those scenes when they're like driving through the town. They're like whipping around. speaker-1: Just so you're aware, most of that wasn't actual No A film on a studio lot. speaker-2: I know it's like blue screen or whatever. I know. But it's just it's just really funny. You just see like you just see her in the car with these two little birds in the cage. And as she's the best my favorite part, she's like turning the wheel, going around these turns, and the birds are like doing this. She's doing the turn. And you can totally tell the birds are fake, obviously, because it's again, it's eighteen sixty three, I'm not expecting speaker-0: They weren't fake when they were attacking her 'cause they literally tied birds like on they put little strings around their feet, tied the strings to Tippy Hendrin Hedron. Yeah. speaker-2: Really? speaker-0: And they actually attacked her. speaker-2: 'Cause I wondered how they got the goals to really get down there. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-2: No, in interesting movie again, definitely on the scale of one to ten of a ten being the scariest, one being not, is probably like a two. But I realize that, but I felt like it was worthy of mentioning. speaker-1: a classic. speaker-2: It is a classic, yeah. speaker-0: I feel like you should try Psycho then. speaker-2: I've seen Psycho. speaker-0: Okay. speaker-2: I've seen Psycho. I've seen Jack Nik Jack Nicholson, right? No. speaker-0: That's the shining. speaker-1: The shiny. speaker-2: Mr. Shining. Okay, well I've seen that too. speaker-0: No. Psycho is with Norman Bates. At his hotel? speaker-1: It's the first slide. speaker-2: Okay, yes. Okay. speaker-1: It's not speaker-2: I know of it, but I've not I've not seen that then. speaker-0: I feel like you should try that. speaker-2: 'Cause I is it like the shining? speaker-0: No. It's probably more similar to the birds. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah. speaker-2: Excellent. speaker-1: It is similar to the boots. speaker-0: I think it's also out for pitch. speaker-2: I will mention I will mention the staff. speaker-0: First movie that showed a flushing toilet. speaker-1: Yes. speaker-2: Yeah. Interesting. speaker-1: Yeah. Famous for its shower scene. speaker-2: Where's the what what what was the movie with Ann Haysh? speaker-1: That was the remake of Psycho. Vince Vaughn Okay. Vince Vaughan and Anhash. Yeah. speaker-2: That was the remake of Sunday. Yes. They speaker-0: Original. speaker-2: sing a whole song about Ann Hayes. speaker-1: Yeah, no, that was the Psycho remake. speaker-2: Okay. Okay. Yeah. So all right. I mean, listen, it we are a handful of days from Halloween, so speaker-0: Right. Spooky season's not done yet. speaker-2: No, it's not no it's not quite done yet because as of Sunday, November first, it's Krimbo time. speaker-1: Nightmare before Christmas time. speaker-0: It is. That's a good one. speaker-2: I got it. speaker-0: It's also a Christmas party. speaker-1: It's a movie that is meant to be watched the day after Halloween. speaker-2: True, it is. speaker-0: Every day living leading up to Christmas, technically. speaker-1: yeah, technically. but that that's when it's set, isn't it? It starts. speaker-2: I came so close. I was in a store over the weekend and they had like a plushie of zero, the ghost dog. Yeah. Yes. I wanted this so bad, but I know that like dozer would destroy it. Like I don't see that. But speaker-0: well, I was watching because it's obviously spooky season. I was watching Leatherface, which is a prequel to Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And I'm sitting there and I'm like, I know this actor. Why do I know this actor? I'm sitting there and I'm like racking my brain trying to figure out who it is. I have to IMDB it. It's Finn Jones. speaker-1: Nice. speaker-2: Finn wait, Finn Jones Ironfield? speaker-1: Yes. speaker-0: Yep, playing a Texas deputy. So good. speaker-1: These actors, they get into all sorts. Yeah. speaker-0: And Stephen Dorf was the sheriff. But he kept his shirt on this time, which I appreciated. speaker-1: I think you should watch House of a Thousand Corpses Leoch. speaker-0: that does have it's great. It's one of my favorite movies of all time. speaker-1: It's very good but it's not it's i i it sets itself up as trying to be a horror, but it's actually a satire on horror. It's Rob Zombie. speaker-0: It's Rob Zombie. And Chris Hardwick's in it. speaker-1: Yeah. I'm Walton Goggins. speaker-0: Well yeah. speaker-2: Hardwick from The Talking Dead Guy? speaker-0: Yep. He's in it. speaker-1: And Sherry Moon, because obviously it's a Rob Zombie movie, so she's in it and she probably gets her boobs out. speaker-0: she does get her boobs out, but it's before they're married. I think they met on the set of house with Thousand Corpses. okay. Yeah. speaker-1: 'Cause it 'cause it is one of those we it's one of those weird relationships where he's like, I'm making a movie and I'm gonna put you in it, but you need to get your boobs out and she's like, Okay, but we live together and you can see my boobs in everyone speaker-0: It is also a trilogy. It's House of Thousand Corpses and Devil's Rejects and Three From Hell. But I will say my favorite Rob Zombie horror movie. I do love House of Thousand Corpses, one of my favorites, but twenty one. Twenty one I think is a beautiful movie. speaker-1: I th I can't say I've seen it. speaker-2: watch the title alone The title alone would hurt me to click on. Just Scorpsic? speaker-0: The thousand. speaker-2: Yeah, I just I don't know. speaker-0: It's a play on Texas Chains or Massacre. speaker-2: I don't know, Steph wanted to watch this movie the other day and and and and and I am gonna I am gonna break down, I am going to watch it, but it's something about what it might be People Under the Stairs. That might be the name. speaker-0: I wanted to see that. I haven't seen it yet. speaker-2: Okay. She well she It's a re it's no 'cause there's there's an original and I think they might be remaking it or maybe they have remade it. I don't know. But speaker-0: That got released. speaker-2: that just that just freaks me out because I said to her, I'm like, Babe, we have a door that's under our stairs. Yeah. that's where the water heater lives. But there can be other people. I don't want that. speaker-1: Guys will put you off leaving your TV on at night. Falling asleep with your TV on. speaker-2: I never fall asleep with T V on. So that's how I'm a problem for speaker-0: Well it will put you off from ever having children. speaker-2: Yeah. That's Chucky though. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-2: Yeah, I could kick speaker-1: I'm looking for it. Molly speaker-0: Kick Chucky. speaker-1: Molly got a doll for Christmas that's like this hyper realistic We're on the same page here, that's okay, we're good. yep. Absolutely. And it just makes me think of Chucky. what was I gonna say there was another one as well. arachnophobia. I had no fear of spiders until I watched arachnophobia. speaker-0: With David Arquette? Yeah. speaker-2: Absolutely. speaker-1: No, is that not? Is it not in the original arachnophobia? speaker-0: no, the remake. speaker-1: Okay. speaker-0: Have you seen The Thing with Kurt Russell? That's a good speaker-1: Such a good film. speaker-0: one. speaker-2: Is that the one where they're like in Alaska or something? speaker-0: Yeah, the only reason I don't like that one is because of the dogs. You know how I feel about the dogs dying? speaker-2: No, I ha I have seen that. I have seen that. Stephan I speaker-1: Maybe that's why your cat hates you though, 'cause you keep on saying stuff about how you don't like dogs dying, but your poor cat's just like Feed me, do something with me, please pay attention. no, you're gonna talk on the podcast about how much you like dogs. speaker-0: I don't like w well, nobody kills cats, like in these movies. It's always the dog. I don't like when the cats die either. speaker-1: She She's only saying it faster 'cause you're watching. speaker-0: He is literally behind the computer right now. speaker-1: I know, I know. speaker-2: He's like speaker-0: Ha ha. speaker-1: I can tell by the pick in your eyes.
