Who did time Fury, vital bash, crawls got teeth but thrash attacks. Who did it better? Let's find out now! Step inside and cue it loud! Hey, welcome in average home theater. ⁓ it's really above average to be honest. I think we'll change the name. We'll change it to the above average. So I'm, I'm Nelson. I'm Jamie. He's Jamie. And we are doing another shoot out today on. it better? Who did it better? And it's my, one of my favorite genres, I guess is creature features. ⁓ yeah. Like night of the leapis. speaker-1: Bye! speaker-0: And food of the gods. see? Yeah. It brings up, it brings up stuff that nobody has ever seen. The lepid says Dr. McCoy in it. That doesn't mean people have seen it. Wow. You probably have never seen invasion of the giant, ⁓ invasion of the spiders either. No, I have not. I've seen lavalantula. ⁓ No. No. It's a good one too. So anyway, we got a couple of creature features here. We mentioned Frawl versus Thrash. In our last, who did it better of, ⁓ tremors versus grabbers. Right. ⁓ but since thrash is brand new, right on Netflix right now. It's on Netflix. And of course, when you see the plots, I was like, okay, we're going to have to do a shootout on it. Yes. Yeah. Who did it better? So if I could start off, first of them are both set up on the East coast. Both of them have a category five hurricane. Both of them have levies breaking and both of them have creatures that are, we are familiar with, but should be out there, but instead are in here. those are my, my favorite creature features are when it's a real creature, like alligators, sharks, dogs, stuff like that. Those are my favorite types of creature features. I do like enjoy the big ones though, like them. That's a great movie or like, ⁓ deep star six. You know, actually it's not, it's not an alien. It's just, was so far down. didn't know what it was. We had never discovered it before. Anyway. So I guess we'll get started with crawl since it came out first. Okay. Hey, came out in 2019. ⁓ what's the director's name? know, Alexander. Alexander French. if you've ever heard of him before, I'm sorry, if you've never heard of him before the first movie you should go out and look at and what is called. It's another French name. I'm going to, but it's high tension. And it is one of those movies that got me, you know, I like to see that I'm watching these movies and I'm with it. I'm like, ⁓ I know what's going to happen. It's going to happen. And when it happens, I'm like, WTH. So he's really good. He's really tight. He also did T2 with Rachel McAdams. is that? You mentioned it the other day. ⁓ Basically it's the night before like arts. It's the night of like Memorial day or something. And they're in a building and she goes down to the parking second level. ⁓ P2. Okay. And there's a guy who's trying to get it. Okay. Okay. That's two of his really great. ⁓ And one of the things too, for this movie that really jumps out is it's got Sam Raimi all over it. Yes. He's the executive producer and it does kind of feel like that. It does ⁓ in a good way. Yeah. In good way. the, the synopsis for the movie or the, whatever you want to call it, the ⁓ plot of the movie is category five hurricane. It's Florida and this, girl, what's her name? You got it right here. Haley Keller. Haley Keller. And she is a competitive swimmer at the university of Florida. Right. And they show her swimming and having little flashbacks of when she was a little girl and her dad who's played by Barry Pepper. Very well, by the way. Right. His name is, um, what's his dad? Yeah. What's dad's name? Uh, Dave Keller. So anyway, she sees flashbacks of him being her coach when she was a kid. So you are there, they're setting up that there's, you know, something between father and daughter. So anyway, she's trying to get in touch with him because the storms coming in. sister keeps calling her. I can't get in touch with that either. Right. So she's on her way out there. So she, course the weather's getting bad. She goes. to his house and he's not there. Then she calls her sister says he's not here, but maybe he's at the old house, which is up for sale, which is up for sale. So she goes to the old house, finds his truck and she's like, okay, where did she start searching the house? Whatever calls his phone and it's there. It's just right there on the counter. And then she sees again, I love characters who are smart and she is drawn to, okay, his phone's here. Wait a minute. There's some tools here. There's putting the pieces together. Yes. I like that. And so she figures out, maybe he's underneath the house in the hall space. And that's where the fun starts. remember when the movie first came out, I was like, why is it called crawl? I didn't understand. Yeah. It's, it's a play on both of them. Yeah. The crawl space and adding crawl, not to be confused with the cloud skins. So I think this is only like about 15 minutes into the movie, something like that. And of course she goes down. She sees her dad. Yeah. Who's unconscious and torn up has a wound starts to try to figure out. starts to try to drag him out. Right. Again, very smart. She finds a tarp. She, yeah. Cause she couldn't pull him. Right. She puts it over and it's all kind of muddy underneath there. There's pipes, you know, so it makes it kind of difficult, but she's working. And Pepper's not a small guy. So if You're a girl who weighs about 120 pounds. You're trying to drag, drag a man that's probably 180, 190 pounds. Again, smart, smart girl. Well, this made me jump. I forgot about it. Been a couple of years since I watched it, but as she's dragging him, that's when you see the first alligator come down and he comes through the stairs. Yes. Yes. Like just breaks the stairs everywhere. And I was like, Like a girl. I don't usually jump for movies, but that one was a very good one. Yeah. So anyway, this little, encounter with the alligator. loved it. Yeah. The, I mean, it's obvious. It's not a real alligator. None of the alligators are real. None of them. It's all, all are CGI. There's no practical at all. I double checked that. ⁓ Really? But all of them are CGI. So, but being that it's CGI. I didn't find it distracting. mean, can tell it is, but it wasn't bad. that makes sense. Part of it is because of the darkness and the slowness. They really use the things under the crawl space to, to give you this atmosphere of being trapped. And unlike places, say in Louisiana, the entire bottom is covered with brick. And the only place that you can kind of see through is where there's missing rights. So there's no way to escape from there, which is, it's very important except for one place, which you find out later. anyway, so as she's having this encounter, what is it? She realized, no, it was later on. She tries to get out again. And that's when she realized that there's alligators in there. And the other one is a little bit smaller. And so then you start to realize, what's going on? Maybe it's there. And Barry Pepper woke up at this point. And they're trying to figure out what they're going to do. And I love the way this happened. She dropped her phone when it attacks, which is perfectly, you know, she's in shorts. He's there. And then the alligator steps steps on it. Yeah. So I was perfectly fine with that. Yeah. The dad's phone was up there. again, I'm just going to say how much I, yeah, I mean, we're not going to go scene by scene, but so There's no way to communicate. ⁓ Barry Pepper says that he thinks they're getting air through the storm drain pipe overflow pipe, which is very common around here. And Florida, mean, Florida is basically like Louisiana. It's just, you know, prettier. ⁓ but all the while it's raining and, ⁓ yeah, the water keeps rising. And at one point she, she looks, she's able to see out of a, ⁓ out of that little crawl space where the, the, yeah. And she sees people at a gas station in a boat. Cause it's already that much water and they're basically, ⁓ what do call it? They're they're the ATM machine. They're, they're looting, stealing the ATM machine and they all get eaten by alligators, which is a great scene. It Cause at that point you realize it's not just the two underneath. There's like five or four of them. There is a lot of them out there, but total five or six, but the effects are good. ⁓ You see just enough of them. The attacks are good. The acting was, was really, really good. mean, I don't know that this whole movie has had me on edge. ⁓ I forgot how intense it was and just how well it's, it's just done. it's, one of those things they do a very good reason of giving you giving you hope for her. ⁓ yeah. ⁓ and then later one of her friends. a cop who's, he comes to with his, and again, it makes sense. comes in a boat, he enters the house and they're knocking on the underneath on the floor. Didn't hit attention and they probably shouldn't have done that because he goes and looks at the basement crawl space and then jump. No, I didn't jump on that didn't jump on that one. Okay. And the gator, you know, jumps up and grab this. So that was. But that's a great scene. another great scene. And again, you're, building it up because at the same time, the other officer is seeing this weird thing happen with the swings. That's underwater. Holy crap. It's another alligator. They're both gone. Yeah. So all hell, there's no help. They're done. Nobody's coming. ⁓ yeah. And they make their way out. She ends up going across the nest. Right. And in the nest, some, ⁓ yeah. A little bit of the police officer was left, but the eggs, there were little bitty gators coming out. It's a good scene where she gets the firearm and shoots the gator. Well, the gator bites her. Her arms in him and just she's pulling the trigger. Great. That was really cool. Forgot about it. Great scene. Then she swims out of the overflow pipe. And that's where you see other gators. And this is where it kind of gets a little, I mean, Okay. The movie is not realistic. Okay. ⁓ yes, you don't want to be around alligators. They will attack you, but I think some of the ways they attack, might be a little more aggressive in here. the way that under the house, they're slow or slow are, know, and I think the dad even mentioned something about that, which was really great to see them. Burt's is what you see them in water was their predators in the water, but underneath. They're still huge and obviously they can kill you. Um, does her out swimming them? Yeah, I'll agree. Yeah. I mean, was whole kind of tied in time. And that's why they made her. Yeah. Okay. That was actually more probably farfetched than the attacks. Yeah. But, yeah, she out swims them and, um, she goes and gets the boat at the gas station that the looters had when the alarm. ⁓ yeah. Well, no, no, she comes back. She gets her dad out. Right. At this point. She's, she's going to get him. I think when the levy breaks, because the water's coming and he's not in the boat yet and she comes right up to him. Yeah. But he was out of the house. yeah. He got out of the house. They were out of the house and they hear the alarm. One of the gators swims by prior to that. That's, that's a cool moment. But as she's coming back with the boat, the water rushes in and them right back in. Through the window. ⁓ my God. Right back in the house. And you know what we haven't talked about yet is sugar. ⁓ the dog. ⁓ my God. I was so worried in this movie when it's sugar, if sugar is going to die, when is sugar going to die? Because sugar would make a tasty treat for a Now this was not the first time you watched it. No, no, no, I have the blue ray of this when I've watched this like three, four, like I said, I'm a huge Alexandra. I want to say this was only my maybe third time told, but it had been a few years. Okay. So yeah, when they get back in the house, it's more the same really just avoiding the gators. You have the good scene where she outsmarts it in the shower, where she jumps over. He goes in the shower. She closed the door. And I guess the whole idea there is that he doesn't have enough room or she, uh, I don't want to gender though. You don't want to miss gender. Um, but I guess there's not enough space to really like whip the tail. So let's do that. Yeah. I'm just kind of thinking that's because that's also I reinforced glass because it's in a shower. so, you know, yeah, shower glass is very heavy. You remember it was bad enough when Lucy got caught in the shower and it, filled up with water. She almost drowned. What's that on? I love Lucy, not the Ricky Ricardo, but when she was older and she was in her house. ⁓ I'm thinking of another movie. There's another horror movie where like the showers. ⁓ you know, this was, I Lucy. Lucy. So, what are the scenes are there? ⁓ the alligator bites off and not just bites it off. It does it snags it rips it off. And I think that's one of the parts where it twists. Because you thinking the dad's going to get, and when he, the arm breaks right off, you know, and he's already got a compound fracture in his leg. Then he just puts a tourniquet on it. He's good to go. good to go. know, and, but so it's the use of the corridors. Um, you don't actually know, you know, where they are, what's going on. Are they going to go upstairs to get away or something? There is a scene that I was kind of like, when they are, uh, the water coming in and she gets pushed into a room and the door slams and there's an alligator in there. And that was one that I was like, the Gator would have got her. Hey, um, but I'm so into it at that point. really didn't. Yeah. Plot armor. know, it happens. So yeah, they ended up getting on the roof. He saves her with his one good arm from floating away. I mean, just everything about it. The postcard comes and spoiler alert. Nigger doesn't die. Dog makes it. Dog makes it. Which sport? mean, Fun fact is sponsored by red dog terrain. Red dog. They were going to kill. were they really going to kill him? But you can't do that. No, you can't do that because you could kill people, you can't kill the dog, you know, um, except in the original alligator movie. the bot, so the actual kill count is the three looting and the two officers. really only five people. Well, five and a quarter maybe. Oh yeah. Yeah. About 25 % of Barry. All right. And speaking of which, ⁓ we're going to beta gifts. This sucker in 84%. Really 84 % and it had a, ⁓ about $14 million budget. It made over $90 million. Nice. That's why there's a crawl to currently in pre production. is okay. Yeah. It's in development. Hopefully it's completely different characters. This is set in New York city. This is, which again, with, you know, climate change and all of that stuff. had that bad storm with like two years ago. So there is, there's, could see that story, you know, really developing. ⁓ but yes, overall, I love this film. I love what they did with it. ⁓ another fun fact, the sponsor about red dog terrain. This movie was not filmed in Florida. wasn't even filmed in the U S it was filmed in Belgrade, Serbia. ⁓ They did a good job making it look like, looked like it, you know, so, right. was crawl. Now we're on to Thra, which happens to rhyme with crash. Okay. ⁓ So the only person in this movie that I know was the guy from gladiator. Digimon Hassan. I don't know how to say, I'm just, ⁓ but he was good in this movie. His name is Dale. Dale. Not great, but he was by far. That was a couple of times though, when he delivered some lines, I was like, yeah, come on, man. I know you better than that. So, okay. So everything that we just talked about kind of happens again. Yeah. There's the, but there, okay. I'm going to say it right off hand. There are too many. Setups in this movie. Yeah, too many characters. Too many characters too. ⁓ first off, know, you've got this woman who's nine and a half months pregnant, Whose husband has left her. She works at the meat process. name is Lisa. Yeah. And she goes to leave and her little electric car while the trucker friend who works there is filling his tanker up with cow blood or something. Waste. They're going to get rid of it. And as soon they were filling it up, was like, Oh, there's the chum. There's the chum right there. And so they both, know, right when it, the, the wall breaks, um, it's a cool scene. will give them that they, this movie had a lot more of, um, the actual flood waters because you had to have sharks in it. Um, yeah. So We kind of skipped over it. Rash is basically the exact same thing as crawl, but with sharks instead of gators. a lot of people and a lot of sharks. And it takes place in South Carolina. Right. Which is why there's sharks and not gators. It was actually in Melbourne, Australia. ⁓ is that where it was shot? That's funny. And it's in, now, I don't know if you noticed, they said Annyville, which is what it is, but at first I thought they said Amityville. Yeah. So I'm guessing they did it on purpose to kind of sound like Amity. Yeah. Yeah. But so you've got another character named Dakota who is Dale's Z and her parents have both died. So he's like taking care of her, but she has huge anxiety and can't go out of the house. Yeah. She's, is that? gore or if it's a gore phobia or if it's some kind of high level anxiety. And I didn't get the fact that it was the feeling because they, people knew her. she didn't go out. Yeah. It's not like what about Bob? Yeah, exactly. So. Great movie by the way. But so, so now you've got this person who says she's not going to go out because she's got whatever agoraphobia, ⁓ Afrophobia. That's when you have the fear of my head not coming like a Chia pet. ⁓ and then you've got the, woman with the baby. Once the floodwars hit, she gets pinned into a car. ⁓ The trucker who his truck, his trailer gets hit by a statue and just. let's out all the charm, the charm. then here come all the bull sharks, which by the way, the fail is a Marine biologist who specializes in sharks. So he just happens to have a program on his iPad where he can track all of the bull sharks. they have, of course they revealed one great white who had had, they've been tracking for five years. They call her like big son. ⁓ It was a funny name. Yeah. wasn't that great. ⁓ So, they can't, yeah, the whole time you're waiting for something to happen with that. of course the woman starts to have the baby. Yeah. Which was actually kind of a cool site because he's in a four poster bed on the second floor and the water keeps rising and it picks up the bed. Well, that the movie probably should have centered around them. Yeah. But it would have been exactly like crawl and other than her having a baby, but it has been two people. in a house as the floodwaters are right. So I guess maybe that's why they didn't think they purposefully, because there is no way that these people saw didn't see crawls and say, ⁓ we can, we can do this. Now I'm not going to go out. the guy who directed it, don't forget about the foster family. Yeah. foster, but the, the guy is known for the, sorry, not the director, the producer is Adam McKay. And he's known for all of the anchorman movies and Talladega nights and stuff like that. why would he do this? Right. So I'm thinking that this is one of the reasons that this movie has, um, what's it called? A playful B movie energy. And that's being nice. And I'm not being mean because rotten to betas only gives us a 42. Yeah. Okay. that's, that's generous. And so, right. There is a family of, of, again, it's so contrived. It's three kids who are living with the mean guy and the man and wife who only feed them bread while they have stakes and they're collecting the checks from the government. I've really taken care of the kids. So, know, all of this other one, the water comes and the shark comes and all this stuff. I didn't even feel bad. You know, it was like, At one point, even the kids, don't really make you care about the kids, even though they're in a horrible situation. Like when, when you're in the house, you're on the table and a bull shark swimming around. like, Hmm. Well, you could just stay there and you'd be fine. Yeah. This way till the water goes down or yeah. I don't know. then, then that house was not, it didn't look like it was in danger of collapsing. Yeah. Not at all. And when the foster father gets attacked, assume he's dead. Okay. But then later he jumps out of the water in the kitchen. Right after they were saying F whatever, whatever his name is. Again, then derived. Okay. But that means he had to swim. Yep. then underwater the shark, shark and fast while his butt is bleeding. Yeah. The funniest part of the whole movie. said it bit my ass clean off. That's probably the funniest part of the whole movie. But when he popped up, I was like, yeah. But you come from dude, they didn't need to do that. They could have just left that alone and let the kids try to get out on their own. And that would have been perfectly fine. There was no reason to have the stepdad survive. No, no. And there was a cool scene when the foster mom is attacked. The water has risen up over the windows and she's attacked the other side. That was a cool looking shot. I will say I'll give them, you know, props for that for sure. But I'm going to jump a little bit ahead. The three kids end up getting some dynamite from downstairs and the stakes that they never got to eat, put them together and, and, duct tape them and put what I think must've been a radio control to you. Right. Cause it's like the fuse is only that long. They light it. They throw it. ⁓ go where they're like trying to get it. It's like, it's, it's like, it felt like it was like, was like die hard to die hard to, know, But I cared so little about it cared so little about it. didn't even time it, you know? Um, so, then, oh, I'm sorry. Actually I liked coming on this show and I'm going to tell you why. you can talk trash. Of course the pregnant woman has her baby in the water, in the water, which was kind of funny because the mom or the sister had been saying you should have it in a, in a pool, you know, So she ends up, and that was a cool looking scene because when she has the baby, the blood and everything comes out. but she knows all of this that's going on and she's just standing there. I mean, just, you know, peddling in the charm, you know, the homemade chum. Yeah. And the homemade chum and the baby special effects were terrible. Terrible. Maybe it didn't look real, not even in the least. And obviously you don't want to use a real baby in that situation, but I mean, the CGI was terrible and the CGI overall wasn't very good. The sharks did not look good, I think they knew, which is why they didn't show them very often. That could be a good reason. the sharks, I mean, it was like deep sea action. And so you have the whole thing too, where the uncle to end up, have to travel like a hundred something miles. So they hook up with a, you know how long that would take. know. they hook up with a film crew and. I'm just waiting. mean, just felt so much like a whistlers, you know, like what's going to happen with the film crew. What's going to happen. And you really like the film guy. He was, he was kind of a jerk. are we, are we going to kind of skip to the end? So there's the scene where, of everybody's saved. They're all in the boat. They're driving back out and the reporter gets up and he's making a, ⁓ you know, Well, it's not only did hurricane Henry come in with it. brought all of this. I'm sorry. We shouldn't. should. Well, anyway, at that point I was hoping a chart was going to get them. Yeah. We skipped over the great white, the great white. Okay. Which they did actually surprised me. wasn't waiting for me. Why the hell would it be right there? Would it jump out of the water? Kill the bull shark. Well, he mentioned that they hate the bull sharks. They do. But that one right there, that exact moment. They wanted that shot of the great white jumping out of the water because what is it? Great whites in one part of the world actually jump out of the water. I don't know. Yeah. That's the there's only one place. I don't remember where it is. Must be South Carolina. Yeah. Must be South Carolina. But it's somewhere in the Pacific. I'm pretty sure where and it's the only place on earth. that the great whites jump out of the water. Now, much as we're crapping on this film, obviously we can talk about who did it better. It, people watched thrash. It supposedly had 34 and a half million views. Yeah. It was the number one on April 19th. So I was just a few days ago at time of the filming. So it is definitely a fun. movie if you're not people like us, I guess we haven't seen crawl. Yeah. Yeah. But I would definitely tell you to watch crawl instead. Yeah. You know, and I think it streams right now, maybe on Amazon. No, I think it was on, on Paramount, but, okay. So a couple of things that I would like, we're going to get into it here. So both of them are set in the South. And both of them are filmed on other continents. Well, I mean, South Carolina, is that really the saddle? You know, no, we don't want to fight with anybody, but we're, we're 30 miles from the Gulf of America, like as a crow flies. So, mean, listen to South or the seagull as a Pelican flies. ⁓ brawl is all about atmosphere and you've got that, that whole feeling of claustrophobic, claustrophobic, you know, while Thrashing. It's siege movie. It's a siege creature feature. ⁓ and thrash goes with the whole multiple storylines. All of these different things are happening. Are they, how are they going to converge? And actually they don't converge. Some of them do and others don't. ⁓ the pregnant woman in thrash is, and I, I kind of felt this way, but you know, the pregnant woman had to take care of her baby. Right. The way that Haley had to take care of her dad. since you're mentioning that I did want. You know, I forgot my notes, but one of the things I wrote down was the best line, not the funniest, the best, like the coolest part of thrash is the mom, whatever her name is, when she told the baby. I got to go fight some sharks. Yeah. She grabbed the knife or a shiv and she's like, I think it was a big splinter. Yeah. That's what it was. That's what she had used to cut her own imbibble. Yeah. I was like, now that's awesome. Movie would have been like that. Yeah. I actually had no problem believing that she stabbed the bull shark with that thing. Yeah. She totally could believe that. Okay. It's actually one of the most believable parts of the whole movie. ⁓ And it was fun because she took up a drawer and put the kid on the drawer and it floated and she went and kicked some bull sharks. was the best. Her performance was the best in the whole. And I love what they did with her. She, know, she was all prepared for tab this baby, the boyfriend and her husband had left her and they become a DJ or something. So a DJ magician or whatever. But, um, he told the mom, no mom, I'm not having this in a pool. Like you want me to, I'm having it in a hospital. I'm having an epidural. And I have my perfectly curated, ⁓ playlist. And so when she starts having contractions and the beds like bumping up on the ceiling from the water, she starts it. I think it's a, I'm like, it's ⁓ like, that's kind of cool. Terry Cruz, the way, he was at Coachella and one of the people, the Sabrina carpenter, dojo cat people started playing that song. And he immediately started, or you saw it. Yeah. was acting like he was a cable or something. That's awesome. That's awesome. so, then the other thing is that both films explain the aggression. Okay. So the sharks are mad because they've been pushed because of the storm and they get in there. And then a lot of them have to come through that main place. all about that, you know, blood and chum and everything was. So I could see that. And of course in crawl, it's because they're protecting their home. So, ⁓ the only thing. Okay. And yes, I will, I will say that client, but there is definitely a changes in climate. Okay. ⁓ there's actually no denying that the, think the real, discussions and arguments are, should be what causes it, right? Not that it's, it's actually happening. Again, how do we know it's not due to this, you know, and we're just in one of these. And we pretty much blame it all on climate change in thrash, but in crawl, it's just an alligator going to do what an alligator going to do. I mean, you choose to live in Florida, choose to live right, right off of the, some things are going to happen. mean, had a, ⁓ it was somewhere here, a town nearby. There was a 16 foot gator in the middle of the street. It was all, it was all over a tick tock. Yeah. people, always joke that people think everybody in Louisiana, you know, paddles their P road to work with their alligator in it, but there's a lot of alligators out there, know? So, ⁓ okay. So are we going to, we'll just go through a couple of things. ⁓ acting, would say crawl. It's it by far, ⁓ fewer performances, but Even the police, calling in for a few scenes and the looters, them getting attacked, they did well and all of that. And of course, Barry Pepper and the girl, I don't know her name, but their performances were just really good. Nobody was bad in that movie. Overall directing, I think is much better in Crawl. Hands down. It looks better. It was shot on film. So you know me. It just, it's just better than a Netflix digital movie is going to look like a digital movie, you know? The thing is that I found out after this, have you ever seen, um, dead snow about the, or maybe dead snow about the zombies? Nazis? That guy's the guy who directed that. Oh, okay. Yeah. So crap. Um, writing of course is better in crawl. I would say that. crash outright, rip them off. mean, you know, in these who did it betters episode, who did it better episodes that we do. Yes, there's similar plots, but they're normally a lot different, right? Like volcano and Dante's peak. Yeah, they're both volcanoes, but they're completely different types of stories. one was in a town, all of the things that are going to, and the other was a true out in the mouth. So I agree with you there. Yeah. mean, they're similar, but. Kind of ⁓ deep impact and, and, Armageddon completely different stories. They just happened to both come out in the same summers. They both had to be about asteroids. this in my opinion is like, it's a direct rip off. Yeah. So I'm going to say the writing is definitely better in crawl because it came out seven years earlier. Yeah. ⁓ the creature effects much better in crawl hands down. Yeah. Which is really odd. ⁓ You know, because you're like, ⁓ know, see shark all the time. They got to do sharks really good. No. And we'd see these alligators up close and the CGI is, gotta say it was really, and it's, and it's older. The fact, mean, things change in seven years technology. So yeah, I just mean, anything else you want to mention? just want to, just want to give a shout out to all of the actors. Okay. Because whatever performances they put. All of them spent a lot of time in cold freezing water for hours and hours until to film this movie. And no matter what we think of it afterwards, that is a craft. They did the best job that they could, the scripts that they had and whatnot. ⁓ one of the sets, ⁓ for, ⁓ crawl basically was built inside of a big kind of like aquarium. so they would, they would fill it up. And when it filled up, they weren't going to put it back down when they finished filming for the day. So it stayed up to where it was. So the next day when they came back to filming and water was already there stagnant, was, know, so anyway, I just would definitely give a shout out to, the actors. But anytime you do a movie with water, it's a difficult show. There's just no doubt. So But anyway, I guess we can go ahead and say who did it better? I'm going to for all. I'm going to vote for all. Okay. I figured that. ⁓ but I re I was very disappointed in thrash. mean, I knew it was a rip off of crawl, but I did have some expectations of it. I expected it to be a little bit better than it was. know, my feeling is that if they have leaned into the Anchorman, Talladega Nights kind of weird fun. a little more comedy with. Yes. That maybe it would have been a better film. Yeah. And it would have separated itself a lot. Yeah, a lot. And there was a lot of things you could do with sharks because at one point when, when he pulls up that iPad, are dots all over there. So there's a lot of bull sharks. Cause the other thing is like, okay, well, as the water goes down, not all of the sharks are going to swim back out. Right. So, you know, are there some in swimming pools? You know, there was a lot of things that they could have done and to make the humor, you know, like a, like a post credit scene where somebody's going to, know, goes home. was funny at the end, another hurricane's coming. Yeah. Yes. So whatever he's like, Oh shit. that, that, was kind of funny. Yeah. Yeah. I forgot about that. I just was so expecting a shark to jump out and get the, the reporter. That's how, and I hate to say it, that's how contrived and that movie felt. So when it didn't happen, I was like, they, definitely screwed the pooch. But I mean, they got a lot of views on it and I don't know how they make money on that. I don't know how that works. You know, that's the thing I could not find any dollars about thrash. I don't know if it's, if, if it gets X amount of views, if Netflix like pays them out, you know, I don't know how that works. This is a Netflix movie. Well, I realized that, but how does, do they just get the rights to the movie Netflix pays him just rights for it and that's it. I you should look that up and let us know. Yeah, don't know how to pay the pay, you know, because all the money I make on this channel, you yeah, well, that's completely different, which is none. So well, that's twice as much as I made. I mean, these are shows cost us money. I mean, there is no love y'all. That's why we do it. It's a hobby. We have I look at it as a hobby. So most people spend money on their hobbies. Yeah. sure. anyway, okay. one, one thing I would like to opportunity. So what this is is an oddly it's everywhere right now. Okay. Year of this horse. is the shirt for the Laotian new year that just happened a couple of weeks ago. Okay. Okay. ⁓ buddy of mine sit who has a really great little business that's called poor decisions. But it's poor like drink, right. Right. they go and set up and, you know, like sampling drinks and stuff for people and whatnot. ⁓ he and some other, his, ⁓ insurance, I've got insurance, but realty place. They made these shirts for a bunch of people there. And yeah, it's like a dry wick. Yeah. It's like an athletic shirt or something. ⁓ this is the one where the dope in his blue muscle car was drunk, spin out, spun out. ran over like 16 people. the lay ocean. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So, ⁓ anyway, he, I had told him how cool these shirts were and he gave me one. So I definitely wanted to, to, wear it to say happy new year of the horse and sit. Thank you so much. All right. His name is actually spelled Sith. Is it really? It is. It is Sith and it's pronounced S and I'm not even going to try to pronounce this last thing. Yeah. Don't do that. Yeah. So anyway, big things coming up. ⁓ we've got a couple of cons coming this summer. ⁓ we're going to be doing more panels at galaxy con down in New Orleans. Definitely check us out there. ⁓ What do you got coming up? ⁓ As far as the podcast, we have, um, well, had one that dropped today. Um, old Henry producer, Nick and I repaired old Henry. a Western, right? It's a Western. So you Western folks go ahead and check that one out. Eastern folks can watch it. Um, we have on the agenda coming out probably next week is, um, to die for. Oh yeah. Nick and I reviewed that. was his first time watch. Okay. Um, so we were, that one's coming out soon. But, I'm trying to get us into that horror convention, ⁓ in the work and hard on it. Yep. Trying to get that done. That's right. It's to be right here in Lafayette, the Halloween horror. And I am trying to cook up a surprise for the 4th of July. Yes. So we'll try to work something out. Right. Well, what you're doing, I mentioned, we may do it and just air it on. could do that. You know what I'm saying? If we just pre-recorded and set it as if it's just me, own glasses. yeah, that would be cool. That's what I'm thinking. So we'll, let you, we'll, announce that soon. All right. Well, have a possibly. then we've got a new episode of a SQL house that probably will drop before this drops. Okay. Where, ⁓ we talk about my movie return of the invisible woman, which are the SQL to the invisible man, one of Nelson's favorite movies of all time from 2020 with Catherine. It's like my diehard two. Yes. And I, that's why I, I poked the bear. I know that it's great, but it's fine with what we do with it. I'll give you a little, little, little hint there, a little thing. We're actually using it to kick off or restart the dark universe. Oh, okay. Yeah. So maybe you'll, maybe you'll like the sequel then. Okay. So we'll see. Um, I'm gonna have to listen and see what y'all come up with. Yeah. See if y'all can write the wrong of the first movie. No wrong. Anyway, all right. All right. Like, subscribe, tell your friends, check him out on Fave Five from fans. That's right. And check him out. Well, here, here, but still. All right. We'll see you on the next one. Take care.
