- 0:00You're listening to Banser with the boys.
- 0:05From high octane to adrenaline, starting lineups to starting grids.
- 0:11Right, right.
- 0:13Gridiron to Grand Prix, get laced up.
- 0:17Let's go.
- 0:18It's time for Banser with the boys.
- 0:22Yo yo yo, welcome back to Banser with the boys.
- 0:35Fast laps once again.
- 0:38Obviously I'm smelty.
- 0:40Next to me today is Joe.
- 0:42Joe, what's going on?
- 0:44Happy to be here.
- 0:45Happy to be here.
- 0:47We're happy to be here.
- 0:48Well, hey, sometimes there's nothing else to be said, you know what I mean?
- 0:51And so across the table from me, Tyler, what's poppin?
- 0:55What's happening?
- 0:56What's happening?
- 0:57Glad we got another race this weekend.
- 0:58Two weeks is too long.
- 0:59No doubt.
- 1:00No doubt.
- 1:01No, I did feel like it took forever for this.
- 1:03I kept thinking we had a show and we did not.
- 1:06So I didn't know what to do with my typical Tuesday.
- 1:09Cole, typical Tuesday.
- 1:12How's your week been, buddy?
- 1:15Typical Tuesday, man.
- 1:16Not too bad.
- 1:17You know, we're getting some rain today.
- 1:18Don't love it.
- 1:19Hey, don't hate it either, right?
- 1:21Honestly, I love it.
- 1:23I love it because it gives me a break and a day to catch up, to be honest, working in
- 1:27a seasonal field up here in Minnesota.
- 1:32What I would also love is if Gunter bought a stake in an F1 team, that would be wild,
- 1:36but we might touch on that later.
- 1:38I'm just rolling right into the Japanese recap, pun intended.
- 1:44Anyway, that was lame.
- 1:46But the podium, obviously, old Maxwell on the podium, followed by Checo and Science,
- 1:52not super eventful.
- 1:55So I guess let's kind of just start off with talking about that top 10.
- 1:59Joe, you got a couple of facts there about Max and his win here.
- 2:03Yeah, 3,000 career laps led.
- 2:06That's a big number and it's only going to grow throughout the year.
- 2:094,000 next year.
- 2:11No, 4,000 probably in two years.
- 2:14He's led a lot of laps.
- 2:15This is his third consecutive Japan win.
- 2:18Yeah, it's more of the same, unfortunately.
- 2:21Yeah, I mean, straight dominance.
- 2:23I mean, obviously, Red Bulls followed by the Ferraris.
- 2:25Are we that surprised by that?
- 2:27No, no, it's pretty straightforward.
- 2:31I think it's kind of what we expected.
- 2:32I know a lot of us had both the Ferraris in the top.
- 2:34Checo had a pretty good race, right?
- 2:36But speaking to your point there, how many laps is Hamilton at?
- 2:43Isn't he at like 6,000?
- 2:44Is he at like double of what Max is?
- 2:46I thought it was something that was a lot more.
- 2:50That fact is inbound, by the way.
- 2:52We got a couple of people crunching it.
- 2:54We have analysts in the background right now just slamming numbers.
- 2:56Slamming it around.
- 2:57OK, I got the numbers.
- 3:00So down the line, you're right.
- 3:03Lewis was 5,455 and then it's Schumacher with 5,111 and then it's Vettel with 3,500 and
- 3:12then Max with 3,000.
- 3:13So he's still got a bit to go to get up there.
- 3:15He's definitely going to pass Vettel at least.
- 3:17He's going to pass Vettel no matter what.
- 3:19He'll make it to that 5,000 as well.
- 3:21Will the Red Bull be good enough in 2026 to get him up to 6,000 past anyone else has?
- 3:27That's a question.
- 3:28If you're Cole, you're going to be like, absolutely not.
- 3:30Well, I mean, I think the big thing too is it kind of just shows really it shows Hamilton's
- 3:35dominance.
- 3:36I think we kind of overshadow that the last couple of years because he hasn't been as
- 3:38dominant.
- 3:39Obviously, he doesn't have the car and everything, but it kind of shows his dominance, even with
- 3:42McLaren pulling out the championship.
- 3:44He's been a dog for a while and obviously 3,000 seems like a ton, but to be like half
- 3:49of Hamilton, it's kind of crazy.
- 3:51Yeah.
- 3:52Sorry, go ahead.
- 3:53No, go ahead.
- 3:54I was just going to say, I think Max's dominance right now might outweigh Lewis's dominance
- 4:01in his peak.
- 4:03So if Max were to get, this is, I'm knocking on wood here.
- 4:06If Max were to get six championships in a row, he's getting that 6,000 easy.
- 4:13Especially in the, like there's an asterisk with the three of the top four because we're
- 4:18in the new age of 20 plus race seasons.
- 4:22Nikki Lotta didn't get that luxury.
- 4:24Artin Senna didn't get that luxury.
- 4:26So it's like, it's for Max to be already fourth all time with three driver's championships.
- 4:32It's pure dominance.
- 4:35Don't get me wrong.
- 4:36It's obviously him dominating, but it's just like, you're not going to get even Schumacher
- 4:39in the early nineties.
- 4:40You know, they didn't have those, those 2024 race seasons for them to accumulate all that.
- 4:45The thing that kind of sucks too is even if Max blows, like I love that point.
- 4:49I wasn't even thinking of that, but like if Max blows past Hamilton, it's still going
- 4:54to be in the back of the mind.
- 4:55Like, okay, you know, it's like when they change the rules in the NFL, right?
- 4:58They always go back to that.
- 5:00It's going to be that same thing with Hamilton.
- 5:01No, Hamilton did it with this.
- 5:02It's like the Jordan, Jordan LeBron debate right now.
- 5:05And does that take anything away from what they're accomplishing though?
- 5:08You know what I mean?
- 5:09Like it is kind of that, that like Jordan LeBron, Kobe deal, blah, blah, blah, whatever
- 5:12it is.
- 5:13Um, it's just a different era.
- 5:15They're the best of their era.
- 5:16I think that's kind of what it becomes at that point.
- 5:19I mean, obviously Lewis was dominant as heck, but is it as impressive as a Schumacher with
- 5:24that point that you brought up Tyler?
- 5:25Like I guess no, right?
- 5:27I don't think so, especially with Schumacher.
- 5:29If you look at the level of competition that Michael Schumacher was racing year in and
- 5:33year out, you know, it was, it was in my opinion, I guess a lot more than what even Lewis had
- 5:40when Max currently has like at the end of the day, it did like, there's like maybe three,
- 5:45four drivers on the grid right now that you could feasibly see actually winning a race,
- 5:50right?
- 5:51What if they were on a similar car?
- 5:52We brought that up before.
- 5:53I know.
- 5:54And that was kind of pointless to even bring up, but that was the thing about the nineties
- 5:57is the cars were more similar, right?
- 5:59You obviously still had the advantages in the grand scheme of things, but the cars
- 6:02were more similar.
- 6:03So it did come down to actual racing level and, and, and pure skill, but like what, what
- 6:08Schumacher did, it's just simply incredible.
- 6:11Not that it's not for Lewis and you know, Max is going to get to at least five championships.
- 6:16It's just simple fact of the matter at this point, but it's, it's just, it's crazy because
- 6:20Lewis even did it in the era where they had the, it's like the hybrid era or whatever
- 6:24it was where they've made the switches and then Mercedes was just on top every year.
- 6:27That car was second to none.
- 6:28Veltri, Bates was finished in second most of those times too, you know, where, where
- 6:32where Red Bull last year was the first time Checo finished.
- 6:35Like Max had a number two, but I think another thing about, um, Hamilton is the one thing
- 6:42he'll always have over Lewis.
- 6:43If we're doing the Jordan LeBron debate, he won in the McLaren.
- 6:47You said Lewis, one thing about Lewis you have over Hamilton.
- 6:49Oh, sorry.
- 6:50One thing that Lewis has over Max is like the Jordan LeBron debate is that Lewis won
- 6:55in a McLaren.
- 6:56You know, if Max keeps his dominance, great.
- 6:59But if he keeps it in this car, cool, but is it, are you comparing just Max and Lewis
- 7:04now?
- 7:05Yes.
- 7:06Yes.
- 7:07Yes.
- 7:08Okay.
- 7:09Yeah.
- 7:10But like even with that to kind of bounce back on your point, I mean, have you guys seen
- 7:11the movie Rush?
- 7:12Yeah.
- 7:13No, it's a great, great movie.
- 7:14It's about Nikki Lauda.
- 7:15Oh, I've heard about this, but like that kind of ties into your point.
- 7:19It was like drivers going at each other because their cars were pretty similar, but it was
- 7:23like, okay, who's the best driver?
- 7:24Yeah.
- 7:25And then they came down to just the ultimate skill and determination back in those days.
- 7:29Like those cars were the least safe thing in the world.
- 7:31Yeah, no doubt.
- 7:32And we're not, I mean, we're not trying to discredit Lewis or Max's skill.
- 7:36I mean, it's evident every race still Lewis may, you know, some of his passes are insane
- 7:41or whatever it may be, even though his car is not a rocket ship.
- 7:44And they're both completely different drivers, right?
- 7:47Lewis is going to win on like strategy and he's going to get the cleanest line and he's
- 7:49going to get the cleanest laps where Max is going to bring out the elbows and he gets
- 7:54a lot of his moves from a sheer intimidation factor because that other driver knows where
- 7:59staffing ain't giving up.
- 8:01He's not letting up.
- 8:02But don't you guys kind of hate watching it?
- 8:04Like where they just give up like that?
- 8:06Yeah, I hate when they just let him pass.
- 8:07Like even what even this happened a couple weeks ago, maybe it was a team order.
- 8:11You think if Max is in the vicinity, what I'm thinking about is Alonso a couple weeks
- 8:15ago, like he's arguably like if anybody is going to keep you behind him, it's Alonso.
- 8:20He's amazing on defense and he just let the guy, I think, I don't know if it was check
- 8:23or Max, but he just let him go walk right by him.
- 8:25And that's so frustrating.
- 8:26If it was checko, it would make sense.
- 8:29But oh, you're saying, OK, my bad.
- 8:31I thought I thought about that from the wrong way.
- 8:35It's like almost frustrating to watch because you just given up.
- 8:37And if there's a fight to happen, Alonso is going to be able to bring it to you.
- 8:40Yeah, even in a slower car.
- 8:42Exactly.
- 8:43No, I mean, it's a great point.
- 8:46I just, again, I just want to make sure we're not taking away from Max and Lewis.
- 8:52They're so skilled, but I think at the moment, you know, because of those less races, we
- 8:56do got to look at Schumacher still as the king and that short tangent right there.
- 9:00We just went on, but it was worth it.
- 9:02Looking again at that top 10 from Japan, Lando finishing fifth, almost a full 15 seconds in
- 9:08front of Alonso.
- 9:11Is that is that kind of what we're expecting at this point in the season for McLaren?
- 9:15Is that going to be hopefully become the norm that they can beat out Alonso?
- 9:20I'm not going to say Aston as a whole because stroll, but at least beat out Alonso.
- 9:25Is that what McLaren is looking for?
- 9:26They want that that five, six at least locked in, if not battle for three, four.
- 9:30I mean, they definitely want to battle for three, four, 100 percent.
- 9:33But I think at this time in the season, they're outpacing they're outpacing Aston Martin and
- 9:39fighting with Alonso in certain situations.
- 9:42If it wasn't Alonso in that Aston Martin, we wouldn't be like it wouldn't be a conversation.
- 9:47That's what I mean.
- 9:48Yeah, but like so it's like a battle.
- 9:50Yeah, right.
- 9:51So it's not necessarily like Mercedes or Aston.
- 9:53It's Mercedes or sorry, McLaren versus Aston.
- 9:55It's a lot of risk.
- 9:56Alonso doesn't matter what car he's in.
- 9:58A hundred percent.
- 9:59Maybe not the Alpine.
- 10:00I don't think he'd be much of a battle in that Alpine right now.
- 10:01But again, it just gives more like just kind of backs the points, you know, around Alonso.
- 10:06He's just a dog.
- 10:07Yeah, like fight a Red Bull Alonso.
- 10:10Yeah, yeah.
- 10:12And then obviously you got George Russell coming in at seven.
- 10:15I mean, a decent run from George.
- 10:17I don't really have anything to say on that at all.
- 10:21Moving right along, Piastri at eight.
- 10:22I mean, at least he's in points.
- 10:24I'm surprised by that.
- 10:25I figured that the McLaren just looks so much better than the Mercedes right now.
- 10:29I really thought that both McLarens were going to be above the Mercedes.
- 10:33I have to almost give that point almost fully to Fernando.
- 10:38If he wasn't defending like he does against Piastri, I don't think George would have caught
- 10:42him like that.
- 10:43He pushed him back into George fully.
- 10:48Okay.
- 10:49Japan looks a lot like, I mean, just from like if you're just looking at the track,
- 10:52you don't really know much about it.
- 10:53You haven't raced it in the F1 game.
- 10:55Like it looks a lot like it's just an easy, fast track.
- 10:58It's so technical.
- 10:59Like if you've ever raced in the F1 game, even those big windy turns, it's like, okay,
- 11:03I'm in second gear right now.
- 11:04I should be in fourth.
- 11:05I guess that's what the guys are doing that are flying through.
- 11:06So especially like a lot of these guys, I think it's actually a pretty good position
- 11:10for Piastri because a lot of the guys above him had that experience there and they know
- 11:14how to really maximize those turns in that track, especially.
- 11:17So that's interesting.
- 11:18You have played it on the game though?
- 11:19Oh yeah.
- 11:20Yeah.
- 11:21Yeah.
- 11:22When I did last week and of course I want to, you know, I didn't play China coming up,
- 11:26but oh well.
- 11:27When I played Japan, I noticed how like how many or how little opportunities you have
- 11:34to actually make a pass, you know.
- 11:36There's only one DRS though.
- 11:38It's definitely a really like fast, tight, like you said, technical is probably the best
- 11:43word for a track.
- 11:44Tyler, have you raced it on the game as well?
- 11:46What do you think?
- 11:48It's definitely tight.
- 11:49I mean, it's tough that we're pros, right?
- 11:50But yeah, it's really technical.
- 11:52I mean, there's not a lot of opportunity to pass.
- 11:54Like there's only one DRS zone.
- 11:55You don't see that often.
- 11:57And that's really modern day F1.
- 11:59You're passing under DRS.
- 12:00You're not getting a slipstream and getting that corner very often anymore.
- 12:03It just, it just doesn't happen.
- 12:06So it's like without DRS, you're not going to see a lot of passing unless you are a Red
- 12:09Bull who didn't have to pass at all because they started one to where it's like that's
- 12:14the only passing you're going to see if the Red Bull starts, if Checo starts seventh or
- 12:17eighth, it's going to work his way up to the third or second, you know.
- 12:21So it's like, oh, okay, the Red Bull is going.
- 12:23I think it's a win definitely for McLaren.
- 12:25I mean, they're not really, they're pretty much in third by themselves, right?
- 12:29I mean, I think Mercedes has dropped pretty far back, right?
- 12:32Yeah, it's like, I would think so.
- 12:34We're actually going to give an update.
- 12:3635 points, yeah.
- 12:37What are we going to do here?
- 12:38Just around that with McLaren, I mean, Piastri just getting points, getting eighth, I think
- 12:42in that track, I think it's, I think it's still a big win.
- 12:44I think it's still a big win for Piastri.
- 12:46It's a huge win for Lando, I think, in fifth.
- 12:48See, I don't think so because it's like you expect the McLaren to be there.
- 12:52It's the third fastest car on the grid.
- 12:53So that fifth, sixth is where you really would expect him to be.
- 12:56I think it's just like Joe said, it's just a Fernando effect though.
- 12:59I think, I think Piastri finishing up there, it's a win.
- 13:02He finished above Lewis, you know, it's just a huge win.
- 13:06Yeah, he still beat the Mercedes.
- 13:08There is that, there is that.
- 13:09And it isn't ninth.
- 13:11So there's also that, right?
- 13:14But with that ninth Lewis, just again, George and Lewis, seven to nine for Mercedes, just
- 13:19kind of a disappointment for them, I would imagine.
- 13:22And heading into this week, as we'll touch on later, I don't think it's looking really
- 13:26any better.
- 13:27Have they came out with any updates?
- 13:29Does anybody know anything special?
- 13:31They're bringing new to the table.
- 13:32I haven't read any news, but all the news headlines I've seen have not looked great
- 13:35for Mercedes.
- 13:36So that seems to be the general consensus every week right now.
- 13:41Maybe just looking, looking forward to those new regulations.
- 13:45And then Yuki, Yuki getting, is it a point for 10th?
- 13:49Getting a point at his home track.
- 13:52How cool is that?
- 13:53So cool.
- 13:54It's so awesome.
- 13:55It's awesome to see Yuki do that.
- 13:56It's like a, it was a great drive too.
- 13:58He made a job.
- 13:59It was like, yeah, it was like fourth place with a piastry in Australia.
- 14:03Like it's like it's right there, but it's still awesome to see it, you know, the hometown
- 14:06doing like that.
- 14:07Yeah, it was really cool to see.
- 14:09Only sergeant can do something like that when he comes back to the States.
- 14:12You never know dude, if you get a nine car pile up, he just has to beat up one pile up.
- 14:16He's causing that pile up.
- 14:18Let's be honest.
- 14:19I mean, that's only if Stroll's on a wrecking ball that weekend.
- 14:22It's only if Stroll's the best qualifying of his life.
- 14:25Is that how we're going to get the pile up, is Stroll, he's the cause?
- 14:28Yeah, well if it's not Logan, I mean, there's only one other feasible option.
- 14:31Well, no, no, no, we got Logan's got to win.
- 14:33So it's got to be Stroll then.
- 14:34That's what I'm saying.
- 14:35Yeah, they got to work together.
- 14:36Logan's not winning.
- 14:37He might grab a 10th if there's nine cars out.
- 14:40I think me and my friends were making this joke earlier about how that would be like
- 14:43the scenario is like either Stroll or Logan crash out Max and I'm like, they're never
- 14:48going to get to Max.
- 14:49Max has got to lap him.
- 14:50Yeah, they can't even get there.
- 14:55Well speaking of crashing, obviously right off the bat, we had Ricardo and Alex allegedly
- 15:01looked like a racing incident.
- 15:04What did you guys see on that one?
- 15:05He pushed him out, right?
- 15:06Like he didn't, he didn't allow the line for him to come up around the outside.
- 15:10I think this is completely on Daniel.
- 15:12I just, I don't think he saw him and he was trying to get to that line going into the
- 15:15corner.
- 15:16He was more focused on Lance coming on the inside and you could see Daniel actually looking
- 15:20at that inside mirror and he didn't look at that outside mirror when he was going out
- 15:23and Albon's in a spot where he can only go one spot.
- 15:26Yeah, I agree.
- 15:27Yeah.
- 15:28You just got to give up the space.
- 15:29There's no penalties though, right?
- 15:30No, they completely said it was a racing incident and I kind of agree, but if someone had to
- 15:35take blame, it would be Danny for sure.
- 15:37It's just an honest mistake.
- 15:38I mean, was anybody directly behind Albon at that moment?
- 15:41I can't remember.
- 15:42Could he have tried to check up?
- 15:44I mean, obviously it happened so fast that Daniel just went outside to avoid that, but
- 15:48like could you check up there?
- 15:50Yeah, but you have the line, right?
- 15:52You're going to gain.
- 15:53You're going to gain essentially two positions by doing that because you're passing Danny
- 15:55and Stroll.
- 15:56Yeah, you're right.
- 15:57Going into that corner.
- 15:58For sure.
- 15:59And it's balls to the wall.
- 16:00Start of the race.
- 16:01You got to get as many as you can, especially like we were saying, how technical it is.
- 16:07Get as many as you can as fast as you can right away before everything spreads out.
- 16:12Especially in that Williams.
- 16:13Williams is not a slow car and Albon's a great racer.
- 16:15I think if he takes those two spots, you'll see him in the points.
- 16:18Yeah.
- 16:19Sure.
- 16:20Sure.
- 16:21Moving right along.
- 16:23Joe, I know you saw maybe a couple of different things about Charles maybe having a different
- 16:27pit strategy.
- 16:29You touch on that at all?
- 16:30Yeah, sure.
- 16:32I think and not even really just like what I saw after the race, just during the race,
- 16:37he definitely had the longest stint out of everyone.
- 16:40He was on those tires for way longer.
- 16:42He was managing.
- 16:43What was he on?
- 16:44I can't remember.
- 16:45Were they mediums?
- 16:46I think they were mediums.
- 16:47Yeah.
- 16:48So he was on mediums for a while.
- 16:49There were people pitting around him.
- 16:50He was in first.
- 16:51He was in second because he hadn't pitted.
- 16:53Going from eighth to fourth, finishing off is amazing.
- 16:56Yeah.
- 16:57Managed way better than everyone else, I think.
- 16:59Definitely says something.
- 17:00He had a few moments that I guess maybe detract a little bit, but knowing that he was on such
- 17:05old tires, that kind of helps him out too.
- 17:08Sure.
- 17:09Sure.
- 17:10His ability to manage the tires in this race was just absolutely incredible.
- 17:12It was incredible.
- 17:13Nobody was being able to do that.
- 17:14He was out there 10 laps past where everybody else was throwing the hards on.
- 17:18Yeah.
- 17:19100%.
- 17:20That's a lot of energy and that's not something you hear often from that red Ferrari.
- 17:23No.
- 17:24Yeah, definitely not.
- 17:25And it earned him driver of the day too.
- 17:26So everyone more than he earned.
- 17:27It did.
- 17:28Good.
- 17:29Good.
- 17:30Because he was putting down some good laps too with those old tires yet.
- 17:31That's the thing.
- 17:33So we have to mention it.
- 17:35We already talked about Logan Sargent.
- 17:36You know, obviously we're here in the US.
- 17:38So we mentioned the not hometown, but home country folks.
- 17:43Obviously, Haas team not in points this week.
- 17:48Not necessarily a disappointment, but Hoganburg finished 11th.
- 17:52He was right there, right there, ready for points, but to no last.
- 17:57So obviously we hope, at least I don't know, I hope to see Haas perform better.
- 18:02Gunther seems to have something coming out every week about some little blurb about wanting
- 18:06to be better than them in some form or faction in his next adventure.
- 18:10But I love that guy.
- 18:12Yeah, no doubt.
- 18:13No doubt.
- 18:14So let's, we'll just take a quick second.
- 18:17We'll go into season standings update for you and constructors.
- 18:25Welcome back.
- 18:26Of course, we're going to head right into the season standings, the championship driver
- 18:29standings.
- 18:30Then to do that, we have our boy Hands.
- 18:32I mean, I'm sorry, Tyler, allegedly he said his nickname was Hands while we were just
- 18:38off right there.
- 18:39So whatever's going on there, whatever, take it away from me.
- 18:43All right.
- 18:44So we're going into the driver standings, as we all know and expect.
- 18:47We got Verstappen kind of running away with it right now, but really not really.
- 18:50I thought it would be a lot farther gap than it is right now with Verstappen at 77 points
- 18:55with Checo at 64.
- 18:56So there's only a 13 point difference there.
- 18:58That DNF dude.
- 19:00Yeah, that's right.
- 19:01That was pretty big.
- 19:02That's no points.
- 19:03That's huge.
- 19:04And then, you know, right now it's just the battle of the top three.
- 19:08You got Leclerc and Sians fighting it out for third there.
- 19:11There's a four point difference and then the McLaren's going at it as well with Oscar and
- 19:16Lando having a five point difference.
- 19:19Obviously, Lando in front there.
- 19:21Then he pops down into seventh with George Russell and we have Fernando Lewis and Stroll
- 19:26rounding out the top ten and then Yuki on the board with seven points on the year and
- 19:31Ali Baerman in 12th point 12th place on the year right now with six points, which is just
- 19:37absolutely incredible that he is still probably going to finish higher than maybe five or
- 19:42six drivers on the grid this year, only having one race.
- 19:46So I really hope that cat gets a seat next year.
- 19:49He could probably finish ahead of the only other two drivers that have points right now,
- 19:54which are the both Haas drivers.
- 19:56Very feasible.
- 19:57There's a real possibility of that.
- 19:58Yeah, like, I mean, let's be honest, he'll probably finish in front of both Alpines,
- 20:02both Saubers and Logan Sargent, maybe even Albon, because the Williams just doesn't look
- 20:08good in both Haas's.
- 20:10He could finish.
- 20:11He could finish right where he's at.
- 20:1212th and 13th.
- 20:13I expect Danny Rick to eventually pick it up.
- 20:15Hopefully he gets in at least 10 points, but I don't know at this point.
- 20:19And then as Melty just mentioned, we have the two Haas drivers, Nico Hulkenberg and
- 20:22Kevin Magnussen with the only two drivers or two other drivers with points with Nico
- 20:27having three and K-Meg with one.
- 20:30There's really no surprises on this.
- 20:31You know, Danny Rick not having any points is a little bit surprising to me going into
- 20:35the year.
- 20:36Albon not even being close to points this year, a little bit surprising.
- 20:40But other than that, it's kind of as expected.
- 20:43The biggest surprise, I guess, in my opinion, would be it's only a 13 point gap between
- 20:47Verstappen and Chequette.
- 20:48I was actually pretty surprised too about Hamilton only being at 10.
- 20:51I guess looking back in the season, I didn't realize he did that bad.
- 20:54Another DNF.
- 20:55True, true.
- 20:56Oh, that's right.
- 20:57Still 14 behind Alonso on the Aston.
- 21:01That's tough.
- 21:02Yeah, that's wild.
- 21:03And Stroll is only one behind you.
- 21:05That's tough.
- 21:06Yeah, Lewis is not.
- 21:07Lewis's car hasn't been him and Lewis on the car haven't meshed well at all this season.
- 21:12That's the thing, because you even look at Russell, he's only 14 points back at Russell.
- 21:17So is that car is just not anywhere close to where it needs to be.
- 21:20And George is driving that car far better than Lewis at this one.
- 21:23Oh, yeah.
- 21:24Yeah, absolutely.
- 21:25At the end of the year here, obviously, I think Hamilton's top six, top seven.
- 21:29Throw it out there right now, especially after finishing second last year.
- 21:33Well, I was going to say last third.
- 21:35Sorry, I didn't lose kind of start figuring it out towards the end and start finishing
- 21:39a little bit better.
- 21:40So I'm kind of season break the midseason break.
- 21:42Yeah, I kind of turned it over and then was like, oh, OK, I can actually drive a car.
- 21:46Yeah, I'm not like expecting that again, but kind of from a guy that we could consider
- 21:52a quote unquote living legend right now who's still racing.
- 21:56I would expect I think that's a good guy.
- 21:58Do you think top seven or top six?
- 22:00I must say top seven, top seven, seven.
- 22:03OK, but other than that, I mean, I could feasibly see this ending in pretty much the exact same
- 22:08order.
- 22:09Maybe Lewis moving up a couple of spots.
- 22:11But I mean, that that Aston, what Alonzo is doing in that Aston looks far better than
- 22:16what that Mercedes and either two drivers they're doing.
- 22:19And Mercedes is a better car than that Aston.
- 22:21No, for sure.
- 22:23But again, the driver, which leads into another thing that we'll talk about later with Alonzo
- 22:28, which is was a surprise and kind of not really.
- 22:32But we'll get into it.
- 22:33We'll get into it.
- 22:34Let's just let's just head right into the constructor standings then.
- 22:37Also, obviously, I know not a lot of people care about the championship driver standings
- 22:42probably right now, but obviously we do.
- 22:44So we're just going to give it to you anyway.
- 22:45So we're going to give you that constructors as well.
- 22:47So Cole, Cole's got that for us.
- 22:49Yeah.
- 22:50So no surprise at first here with Red Bull 141 Ferrari at 120.
- 22:54Another DNF at a Red Bull.
- 22:55I mean, maybe we see Ferrari climb up.
- 22:58I would love to see it.
- 22:59We got McLaren in third, Mercedes in fourth, Aston in fifth, Racing Bowl Honda at seven
- 23:07and Haas at Ferrari at four.
- 23:09And then Williams, Kicksauber and Alpine all rounding out with zero, eight through 10th.
- 23:14There are big things that popping out here, obviously with Haas.
- 23:17I mean, thank God for a Yuki as far as racing ball.
- 23:23But I mean, Haas with four, I mean, it'd be pretty awesome to see them, you know, get
- 23:27to seventh.
- 23:28I don't think they've ever done that since they've been around.
- 23:29It's kind of tough to see it without Gunther being behind the helm.
- 23:33Aston, I think we're going to see Mercedes and McLaren.
- 23:35That's going to be the big fight at the end of the year.
- 23:37And hopefully Ferrari can bring it to Red Bull at the end of the year here too.
- 23:40That's kind of what I'm looking for.
- 23:42I'm curious if God forbid we get one more DNF from a Red Bull and not any from the Ferraris.
- 23:49Can they catch Red Bull?
- 23:50Is it realistic?
- 23:51But until somebody like challenges Max, it just feels not realistic.
- 23:57I feel like it's not even a fantasy world.
- 23:59I feel like it's not even challenging Max.
- 24:01I feel like the big thing we want to see here is two threes out of Ferrari, two threes out
- 24:05of Ferrari consistently.
- 24:06I think we're going to be OK if you're a Ferrari fan, you're going to be happy with that.
- 24:10You're just going to be chipping away, I think.
- 24:11They have to get a couple of wins in there though, too, though.
- 24:13Like you have to throw in three, four wins the rest of the year between the two drivers.
- 24:18And I mean, to me, it just comes down to Checo.
- 24:20It's how consistent is Checo going to be?
- 24:22Because he's looked pretty darn good this year.
- 24:24And this was a really good bounce back race for him.
- 24:26But I mean, that leads into it.
- 24:28Why wouldn't they resign him unless they have somebody ready to go already?
- 24:33He's making a good case to stay one more year.
- 24:35It's crazy that he's not even in the talks either.
- 24:38Yeah, nobody's talking about Checo coming back.
- 24:40It's all who's going to replace Checo.
- 24:41Everybody's assuming he's gone, but if he's not, why?
- 24:45Who else are you going to put in there?
- 24:47And we've talked about that.
- 24:48Like Carlos, who, you know.
- 24:52So I think I want to jump in and get your guys' opinion on two different fights here.
- 24:56Haas and Racing Bowl.
- 24:58What are your guys' thoughts there?
- 24:59I mean, I don't think Haas can do it.
- 25:01It'd be pretty cool to see him go six.
- 25:02Obviously, we have a lot of Haas fans in here, a lot of guys that like Gunther.
- 25:06But I mean, do you think they can pull it off?
- 25:07Or do you think obviously, I hope we see Ricardo jumping back up and getting points.
- 25:11I think Racing Bowl might run away with it.
- 25:13But do we see anybody have Haas taking that spot in six?
- 25:16I think we got to see what Ricardo does.
- 25:19I think he hasn't done enough yet.
- 25:20And we'll just see whether it's car, driver, combination of both, whatever it may be, before
- 25:25we could like make that guess or assumption.
- 25:28But I'd like to think that Haas could beat him out 100%.
- 25:33I mean, Nico looked at if not getting a ton of points, he looked consistent so far this
- 25:38season.
- 25:39I mean, so if he's consistently battling at least for that one point, probably against
- 25:45Yuki and Daniel, who knows?
- 25:48Maybe they could just chip away at it as the season goes on.
- 25:50Yeah, I mean, that's Haas' ceiling.
- 25:52Tenth is Haas' ceiling.
- 25:53Tenth is Racing Bowl's ceiling.
- 25:54They're like, you can't expect more than that at this point.
- 25:57Right.
- 25:58So and I mean, it's only a three point difference.
- 26:00That's three of the next six races, K-Mag or Hulk finishing above Yuki.
- 26:05Because that's what it comes down to at this point, unless Danny Rick figures it out.
- 26:08K-Mag and Hulk have been very, very, very consistent.
- 26:11They're in that 10th through 13th, 14th every race.
- 26:13Pretty much every race.
- 26:14Danny's in that 10th through 14th every race.
- 26:17Danny's consistently 13th to 16th every race right now.
- 26:20Right.
- 26:21So it's like Haas has been more consistent.
- 26:23Yuki had that, you know, that eighth place finish that gave him those those six points
- 26:26that one race or whatever it was that, you know, kind of popped him up there.
- 26:32So it's going to be a fun race to see though, or a fun fight between it, shall I say?
- 26:35I think the fluke there is Aston that close to Mercedes.
- 26:38I think Mercedes will run away with that here at the end of the year.
- 26:40I don't think and I think Aston's pretty locked in at the fifth spot.
- 26:44But I mean, 34 to 69 with McLaren and Mercedes.
- 26:47I think I think Mercedes brings it to him.
- 26:49I think it's a fight last three races of the year.
- 26:51What do you guys thoughts on that?
- 26:53You think Mercedes brings it to McLaren?
- 26:54Yes, I think it's a fight last three races of the year.
- 26:57That's where all our eyes are.
- 26:58No way.
- 26:59I don't think so because I think McLaren is finally going to start being being more consistent
- 27:04themselves.
- 27:05And they've already shown it a little bit already early this season.
- 27:08They're going to keep coming out with upgrades just like everybody else.
- 27:10And I think this is the first first time in a minute.
- 27:13I mean, when was the last time McLaren finished above Mercedes?
- 27:16Did they last year?
- 27:17No, Mercedes finished two last year.
- 27:19So like I think I think we could see it.
- 27:22I think it will be a battle towards the end.
- 27:24I do think that.
- 27:25But I think McLaren will edge him out.
- 27:27I think the biggest telltale sign there is obviously we just talked about the driver's
- 27:30standings there.
- 27:31Hamilton with only 10 points.
- 27:33I mean, that's not where he's going to finish.
- 27:34He's not going to finish in ninth.
- 27:35He's going to climb up a lot.
- 27:36He's going to get a lot more points.
- 27:37I think that's you know, that's why I said seven six, because I think he might be able
- 27:41to edge out a couple of McLaren.
- 27:43I think that's a fair point.
- 27:44And kind of going back to what you said during driver's standings.
- 27:50Mercedes has two drivers that are getting them points.
- 27:52There's only Alonso Alonso can do a lot.
- 27:54He can I'm sure he can defend both of them, but he's one man strolls not getting points
- 27:59to help out Aston Martin.
- 28:00That's what I'm saying in terms of what we were talking about.
- 28:03Mercedes versus McLaren.
- 28:04And I'm saying I'm so I'm saying Mercedes, I think I think you're right.
- 28:08They're going to start pulling away from from Aston Martin.
- 28:11I don't know if they're going to get to McLaren's level level.
- 28:14I think McLaren McLaren might have third locked already.
- 28:18Oh, yeah.
- 28:19I agree with Joe on this one.
- 28:22Yeah, I mean, if you look at when McLaren made the switch right about midseason last
- 28:27year, all they have done is continue that progression and the car has increased increasingly
- 28:31gotten better.
- 28:32You have PS3 has raced every track but China on the circuit this year.
- 28:36So he has experience there.
- 28:38Landos only getting better.
- 28:40And Mercedes, you can't say the same for that car.
- 28:42They started getting better as McLaren got better last year.
- 28:44And I would say we're on par in terms of how the cars were developing and then hit a landslide
- 28:49over the summer.
- 28:50And that car is nowhere close to Mercedes at this point.
- 28:52So it would be sorry McLaren at this point.
- 28:55So I would it would have to be a substantial jump from Lewis and George both to be because
- 28:59I mean, at the end of the day, I think McLaren has points for the two drivers locked in.
- 29:03I don't see Lewis or George having a three four like spot separation consistently enough
- 29:09in the race between the McLarens for them to close that gap.
- 29:11Sure.
- 29:12So you're saying that you agree with Joe the gaps too wide.
- 29:15It's too wide too far gone too wide.
- 29:16Yep.
- 29:17So you also do you think the Mercedes is kind of done on this car this year?
- 29:21Yeah.
- 29:22You think they're giving up on this car this year?
- 29:23I mean, what the what the at this point, I think they were they were content.
- 29:27They're not happy obviously with fourth, right?
- 29:29They're not going to lose fifth.
- 29:30Asson's not going to be able to like Mercedes will pull away from Asson.
- 29:33I fully expect that.
- 29:35But I just don't think what if what if stroll can be Lewis?
- 29:38You know, what if George keeps being half consistent?
- 29:42That's just not consistent.
- 29:43Stroll beating Lewis like that.
- 29:44That's a lofty, lofty, lofty.
- 29:46Obviously, Alonso is going to be battling that fifth, sixth, seventh spot all all year
- 29:51pretty much Alonso and George are going to fight all year long.
- 29:54Yeah.
- 29:55I think that's going to be the battle between them.
- 29:57And then it's just a matter is if if like Mercedes has to split the McLaren's, they
- 30:04have to start splitting the McLaren's right if they have to consistently keep finishing
- 30:07with Lando above George and even Lewis above Piastri, that doesn't do McLaren any good
- 30:12or Mercedes any good.
- 30:14And I just I just don't see George or Lewis taking the gap to consistently finish above
- 30:20Lando.
- 30:21And that's what it's going to take.
- 30:22So the way I would agree or disagree is I think that Mercedes right now does not want
- 30:26to leave Lewis with a bad taste in his mouth when he leaves his last year after all they
- 30:30brought him.
- 30:31I think they're going to throw everything they can into this car to make sure they can
- 30:33finish at least in the top three.
- 30:35That's where that's where my mind's head on it.
- 30:39Fair enough.
- 30:40Fair enough.
- 30:41Let's just let's just take it from there.
- 30:42So that was obviously a new little spot there for us.
- 30:45Let us know if you like that, how often you want to hear the points update every other
- 30:49episode, every three, four episodes, whatever it may be.
- 30:53But yeah, that was that was kind of interesting.
- 30:55I like that like to hear in everybody's opinions.
- 30:58With that, we'll just move right into our news.
- 31:05Head and right in, obviously the biggest news probably of our last two weeks since we've
- 31:11been here.
- 31:12Alonzo, re-signs with Asson.
- 31:16Who wants to talk about that?
- 31:18Because that was kind of the biggest, biggest news of the last two weeks.
- 31:22Anybody excited about that or or the opposite of that?
- 31:25Surprised that it that it happened.
- 31:27So I kind of wanted to throw this over to Tyler, because I think a couple of weeks ago
- 31:30you didn't touch on it, you went on diving it too much, but you never expanded on it.
- 31:35Why did you think Alonzo was going to go to Red Bull?
- 31:38Because I thought that they would do at this point, Alonzo has maybe one to three years
- 31:42left.
- 31:43I think Red Bull is going to try to maximize with maybe one or two years of Alonzo at the
- 31:46end of his prime here, pair him with Max, lock down those two, you know, that that one,
- 31:50two in the standings.
- 31:51And then when the new regulations come out, evaluate from there.
- 31:55I really did.
- 31:56And I thought and at the end of the day, too, it may it would make it makes all the sense
- 31:59for Alonzo go and chase those last couple of championships while you still have it.
- 32:02Get yourself in the best car.
- 32:04I'm honestly surprised he resigned with Aston.
- 32:07What do you think he's chasing at this point?
- 32:11That's the question, because he's not going after a championship in that Aston Martin.
- 32:14Money.
- 32:15I was about to say, is he chasing wins or is he chasing the bag?
- 32:18Because I think Lawrence has given him that money.
- 32:20100 percent he's given him the money.
- 32:22But at this point in Alonzo's career, you would like to think that he has made enough
- 32:25money where like if you're going to continue racing, it's not like Red Bull is going to
- 32:28give him a little.
- 32:29So now, granted, there's probably 15 to 20 mil difference in terms of what Aston, but
- 32:35Red Bull would pay him.
- 32:36Maybe that's so much.
- 32:37That's so much, though, because you look at Max, he's rumored to have, you know, 75 or
- 32:40100 million dollar contract.
- 32:42Lewis was second with like 55 Lando's at like 20 on his old deal.
- 32:45He's probably close to 25, 30 now like Alonzo's probably making 20, 25 at Aston.
- 32:52Checo has to be making 15, 20 a year.
- 32:54Right.
- 32:55So how much would they actually lowball and comparatively?
- 32:57I doubt Aston's paying him 40 mil a year and Red Bull, I think, would easily give him 20.
- 33:01Who are they going to replace and not pay him 20 mil a year?
- 33:04Yeah, no, that's a good point.
- 33:09It is weird that he resigned with Aston to me.
- 33:12I would have thought he would have at least wanted to wait until the season was over,
- 33:16until there was more movement going on just to see what would happen.
- 33:19Because I would imagine he's at the top.
- 33:20He was at the top of Red Bull's list, you would think.
- 33:23I think it makes more sense if they keep him, if they're not going to keep Stroll, like
- 33:27if you're going to bring in a rookie or somebody that he can help and kind of guide and kind
- 33:31of be a leader to.
- 33:32But Stroll's there, where's Stroll going?
- 33:34Exactly, exactly.
- 33:35That's why I'm saying it doesn't make sense, because unless you're bringing in like he's
- 33:38he'd be a good fit if you're bringing in a rookie driver that can watch him and learn
- 33:41from him.
- 33:42It makes sense for Aston.
- 33:43It makes all the sense in the world for Aston to retain him because you're getting one of
- 33:46the top drivers on the circuit who is going to fight for those, you know, fourth, third
- 33:50through sixth place finishes and is going to keep your team in the top six in the constructors
- 33:53by himself.
- 33:56Right there, by himself.
- 33:57So when is when is the time to look at Stroll?
- 34:00Like I know his dad, I know.
- 34:01It's not going to happen as long as Lawrence is running the team.
- 34:04He wants to win a championship so damn bad.
- 34:07No, he doesn't.
- 34:08He obviously doesn't.
- 34:09He obviously doesn't.
- 34:10He just wants his name out there.
- 34:11He's putting the brand out there.
- 34:12That's it, dude.
- 34:13To me, he doesn't want to act deep down.
- 34:16He doesn't actually want to win a championship.
- 34:17That's why he's staying with what he's already doing this year.
- 34:20He's fine finishing whatever the hell they are right now.
- 34:23Fifth like, oh, God, I'm just I'm so irritated with them because I feel like it's just time
- 34:28to move on.
- 34:29And obviously we know it would be hard.
- 34:31You're a father, you know, if your kid was raising for you in F1, I know that's that's
- 34:35a crazy thing to think about.
- 34:37But like I'm sure that would be difficult.
- 34:39You know what I mean?
- 34:40Especially when you're the main supplier of the money.
- 34:43How long is how long is this contract again?
- 34:45It wasn't.
- 34:46I wouldn't say but he came out and said it was the longest contract he's ever signed.
- 34:50So three years we're thinking I would say three years max because he's never been one to sign
- 34:53a long term contract.
- 34:54He's he's a bouncy guy.
- 34:55He has one year into the new regulations.
- 34:57Then that third year would be the first year of new regulations.
- 35:01He's been two years, two years, three years.
- 35:04He's already on a contract this year.
- 35:05So it would be three, five, six, three.
- 35:06I got it.
- 35:07I got it.
- 35:08You think he's banking on that?
- 35:09Maybe that's why he signed the regulations.
- 35:12Maybe he's seeing something that he's like him.
- 35:14Like we were talking about Lewis.
- 35:15Or next year's car he might look like the develop.
- 35:17I don't know.
- 35:18It must be a combination of everything.
- 35:21It's got to be the regulation though, right?
- 35:23Because it's not he's not definitely not seeing something next year that he's thinking we're
- 35:26going to be Red Bull.
- 35:27I think Joe's right.
- 35:28At this point, I think all he's doing is chasing money.
- 35:31I feel like he knows he's good, right?
- 35:33He's like, I'm still good at this.
- 35:36I've already won championships.
- 35:38I'm going to get out there, have fun and make some money.
- 35:40You know, maybe that's it.
- 35:42He's comfortable and he's comfortable.
- 35:43He's liking what he's doing.
- 35:45To me, it's a sign that like if he's staying at Aston that like Red Bull has their mind
- 35:49made up.
- 35:50They know who's going to who they want to go into that seat.
- 35:53And Alonzo wasn't on their top priority list because I don't think they would have just
- 35:56allowed it to happen like that if it was.
- 36:00Maybe they dropped the ball.
- 36:01I don't know.
- 36:02Maybe Red Bull dropped the ball for once.
- 36:04That's not a very Red Bull thing.
- 36:05I know.
- 36:06I know.
- 36:07But at some point, the best fall look at Mercedes.
- 36:11You know, at some point they start falling and right before regulations, probably not
- 36:15that right.
- 36:16They probably got it on lock for the next two years or whatever it was.
- 36:19But I don't know.
- 36:20I still don't think Alonzo was probably the first or best pick for Red Bull.
- 36:25No, I put him in the top three, probably options, because it seems like everybody's available.
- 36:30So I guess to me, it depends on how teams are viewing what they want their future to
- 36:34look like.
- 36:35I think the regulations are going to be the big thing in the play.
- 36:37Are there going to be teams that are just going to try to maximize next year, get exactly
- 36:40what they can out of a driver and get them in the best position so they have all the
- 36:44money that they need going into twenty twenty six and just have that bridge driver like
- 36:48we use in the NFL, that bridge player to get you to a different point a couple of years
- 36:52down the road.
- 36:53And now you have a clean slate.
- 36:54Now you can go and spend money on a driver.
- 36:56Exactly.
- 36:57Because if you look at Red Bull, right, they don't they don't need to get a veteran.
- 37:01They have the best veteran you can have right now in Verstappen.
- 37:04So they could afford to go with a young driver.
- 37:06Six or something.
- 37:07Twenty eight, I think, if I'm not mistaken.
- 37:10So I mean, you could look at it like a young driver that might be the future because let's
- 37:14be honest, like nobody knows.
- 37:15I don't think Verstappen knows how long he's going to race anymore.
- 37:17He's come out and he doesn't.
- 37:19I don't think he really truly cares to race anymore.
- 37:21He doesn't have seen the thing that he wants to be done.
- 37:24He wanted to be done by like a certain age, like 35, 35.
- 37:27I think it was his.
- 37:28Sure.
- 37:29He's like done racing.
- 37:30But I can see him walking away before that.
- 37:32You know, like obviously he loves it.
- 37:33He's committed.
- 37:34Maybe the new regulations said he's like, I got nothing to prove.
- 37:37Yeah, just walks away.
- 37:39But you're walking away from all that money.
- 37:41He's already got it.
- 37:42I know.
- 37:43Endorsement deals to I'm sure I'd imagine.
- 37:44He signed a hundred million dollar contract, brother.
- 37:46You have one year on that.
- 37:47You're set for life.
- 37:48He's probably the I don't know if it's King or prime minister or whatever of the Netherlands.
- 37:51He probably probably just owns the country at this point.
- 37:55But I don't know.
- 37:56I mean, wifey don't make too much of a she makes a little bit of money on the modeling
- 38:01side, too.
- 38:02So we don't worry about much that.
- 38:04OK, hands.
- 38:05Nice on the eyes.
- 38:06Yeah.
- 38:07Little bit.
- 38:08Hands and hater over there.
- 38:09Yeah.
- 38:10OK.
- 38:11Well, that just leads us right into the Red Bull seat and then we'll circle back on maybe
- 38:13some mercury, mercury rumors.
- 38:15Yeah.
- 38:16Some Mercedes rumors.
- 38:20Apparently Newy Tyler, your boy Newy commits to Red Bull long term.
- 38:25What do you think of that news?
- 38:26Yeah.
- 38:27So Horner came out and said that, you know, like Newy's in the long term plans kind of
- 38:30squash all the rumors.
- 38:31I don't think Newy has actually come out and said anything yet, but like it's squashed in
- 38:35terms of him going to Aston or anything like that.
- 38:38It's smoke season.
- 38:39That could be just Horner trying to squish it.
- 38:40It could be.
- 38:41At this point, I think Newy and Verstappen are completely aligned in where they're going
- 38:45to go.
- 38:46And I think Verstappen decides where Newy's going to go.
- 38:49And if Verstappen's in the Red Bull next year, I think Newy's staying with Verstappen.
- 38:52Man, I would love to see Newy come out with a piastry move and say, despite rumors, I
- 38:57am not going with Red Bull next season.
- 38:58What if he did it on Twitter?
- 38:59That would be so good.
- 39:01But I think, yeah, I think he's sticking with Red Bull.
- 39:03I mean, you know, he knows everyone there.
- 39:05He obviously can make a great car for them.
- 39:07They're going to give him money for it.
- 39:09So let's be honest, where does he go that puts him in a better position for his own
- 39:12legacy?
- 39:13Now, part of that legacy could be I want to go somewhere, build a new team.
- 39:17And this is my the result of me coming here is I have this established, you know, I got
- 39:21this team to a championship level team and I don't have Marco behind me calling the shots.
- 39:26But I don't think to Newy, he doesn't ever seem like he's never he's not a guy who wants
- 39:29this attention, the center of anything.
- 39:32He's like, I don't know.
- 39:34He's so, so, so talented and such a genius to the sport where I'd love to see him make
- 39:39the move and just see another team.
- 39:44But Newy, 65 years old, when does he retire?
- 39:47You know, when is when has he decided that he's built an amazing car?
- 39:51He's built his legacy?
- 39:52You know, maybe he wasn't building it from the ground up, but 65 years old, new regulation.
- 39:57I think too.
- 39:58I mean, Tyler said, is he looking for the legacy of building with Red Bull?
- 40:02Is he looking for another legacy?
- 40:03The issue is other than maybe Ferrari, a lot of these teams, that's all they have to offer
- 40:07him.
- 40:08They want to come rebuild everything and make a dog car, you know?
- 40:11Right.
- 40:12And to answer like what you said, there's no, I think the new regulations was what is
- 40:16what's going to keep him here.
- 40:18Hey, this is why I'm me, right?
- 40:20I'm going to get these regulations.
- 40:21I'm going to get the best car on the grid.
- 40:22I'm up for the future.
- 40:24And not even that.
- 40:25I mean, it did.
- 40:26That's a part of the legacy thing, right?
- 40:27You can throw the regulations.
- 40:28I mean, I'm still going to get the best car on the grid.
- 40:30Yeah, no, that's that's a personal challenge.
- 40:33Obviously, you're probably right.
- 40:34I look to continue that.
- 40:36Staying with Red Bull.
- 40:37I know we've already talked about this.
- 40:39So if you do listen to the pod, go back and listen to our other episodes.
- 40:42So when we talk about the Red Bull seat, see if we're actually true to our own feelings,
- 40:46because who knows, they probably change throughout the season, especially because everything
- 40:50else is changing like Alonzo just signed.
- 40:52So who who's in that front runner?
- 40:55Who's that top three drivers that Red Bull are trying to coax to come over right now
- 40:59to be for Stappen's buddy and probably not win?
- 41:04I'll throw one name out there.
- 41:06It's number three if it's in the top three.
- 41:08I think Ricardo is still being looked.
- 41:09I don't think he's got it.
- 41:11He's not gone yet.
- 41:12For sure.
- 41:13But I would agree with you.
- 41:14He's he's the last.
- 41:15Yeah, he's last.
- 41:16He needs a hell of a year.
- 41:18Let me see a return of another Red Bull.
- 41:21So I think I mean, in terms of Ricardo, Ricardo would be fourth or fifth, I guess, in my opinion
- 41:26at this point, just because his performance.
- 41:28We got Yuki in front of him at this point.
- 41:30I think they give Liam Lawson a shot.
- 41:31Liam Lawson, a shot over Ricardo in the Red Bull car.
- 41:35What Ricardo's done this year.
- 41:37I mean, he would need a big resurgence.
- 41:40I'd rather do that in the V car.
- 41:42So I would agree with that.
- 41:43But then I put Yuki in the Red Bull seat and over Ricardo.
- 41:46Is Adam OK with so who else?
- 41:48We got Albon.
- 41:49Albon and Sines, I think are the only other two for me.
- 41:55Vettel.
- 41:56Does he come back out?
- 41:58If Vettel comes back, I don't think he's coming back to a Red Bull.
- 42:00That would make I wish he would.
- 42:02That would make me excited.
- 42:03I would love to see him and Max.
- 42:04Oh my gosh.
- 42:05I would love to give me a couple more Vettel cards.
- 42:07I think if there's if there's a wild card in there that maybe we're not seeing and we're
- 42:11not hearing enough about it's Vettel.
- 42:12I didn't even think of that thought until you just said that.
- 42:15And I love that so much.
- 42:18That's a wild take.
- 42:19I don't think we see that at all.
- 42:20But it would be cool for that card to be that bridge player for two years.
- 42:25Chacko, thanks for your service.
- 42:27Wash your hands.
- 42:28That'll comes in for those one more or two more years, whatever it is.
- 42:31That would be fun.
- 42:33Do you think that the Mercedes seat or the Red Bull seat gets filled first?
- 42:38Mercedes.
- 42:39That's going to tell us.
- 42:42Yeah, because at the end of the day, like like we said earlier, everybody's counting
- 42:47check out.
- 42:48If check will finish the second and it's a wide margin between that Ferrari that's going
- 42:52to finish third, I will not give them the spot, even if it's just for next year.
- 42:56And then you look at what happens next year with the drivers.
- 42:58Good.
- 42:59You get the new driver for the regulations if they don't.
- 43:01If they don't go with check out, where does check will go?
- 43:04Who actually takes a chance on check or is everybody else looking young right now?
- 43:08Is Red Bull check was only hope to stay in an F1.
- 43:11And if he and if they don't sign him, that's a travesty to let his career end like that
- 43:16when he was doing so well and at the quote top of his game, probably for check.
- 43:21But does he want to stay with Red Bull?
- 43:23You think does he want to stay racing F1?
- 43:25I think ultimately that's what's going to come down to call if he wants to stay in F1.
- 43:29I think it's Red Bull or he's not going to race enough one anymore because at the end
- 43:32of the day, he's I don't think he's going to go to a car that's inferior to Red Bull
- 43:37and want to continue racing after you've been in that Red Bull.
- 43:40After you went through the weeds with Alpine, you know, it's I don't know.
- 43:44I mean, that'd be interesting, I guess, because he does have a family.
- 43:46He has kids that he wants to spend time with.
- 43:48He's getting on the older side.
- 43:50Is a team going to give him a shot like a Sauber taken out of Valtteri Bates?
- 43:55So it's funny you mentioned Bates because of Bote, us whatever, because he went from
- 43:59Merck to Alfa Romeo and wide margin there.
- 44:04Right.
- 44:05But you make a good point.
- 44:06I don't think I don't think he has, you know, that family.
- 44:08I don't think he has kids.
- 44:09I know he has a partner, but I don't think he has the kids like like Checo does.
- 44:12So yeah, maybe it's you know, it's this or nothing.
- 44:15I personally think Red Bull have him in like their top two.
- 44:18I think he's still very much in the running for that seat, at least for next year and
- 44:22then maybe a change in regulations.
- 44:24But if he's getting them second place, why wouldn't they keep him on?
- 44:27Joe, who's your top three?
- 44:28My top three man, Checo, Albon and Sines.
- 44:33I want Sines in that seat.
- 44:34I want Sines in the seat.
- 44:36I love the seat.
- 44:37And if not Sines, I want Albon.
- 44:39I think if you were to ask me at the start of the season, I wanted Danny, but Danny is
- 44:42just not proving to be well.
- 44:45I love the idea of Sines.
- 44:47But the tough thing for me, I think right now, obviously, I'm not a huge Red Bull fan.
- 44:50I don't hide behind that, right?
- 44:52I don't love Red Bull.
- 44:54Hater of Red Bull.
- 44:56But the kicker with that is I think with Sines, he still doesn't win a drivers championship
- 45:00with Mac.
- 45:01So like it's like the worst of both evils.
- 45:04So you're saying you don't think Carlos would want to go to Red Bull maybe because of that?
- 45:09No, I'm not saying that.
- 45:10I still think he's happy with taking second.
- 45:12Like I still think if he's in Red Bull next year, Red Bull does.
- 45:14Still making money.
- 45:15And if he's doing like if Red Bull does what they did the last couple of years, I think
- 45:19he's still finishing second because he's so good.
- 45:21But I think at the end of the day, like how much team orders, how much like I'll just
- 45:26let them fight because that could be a fight.
- 45:28I don't think there would be a lot of team orders, to be honest with you, because Max
- 45:32is not one that wants or likes team orders even, you know, he wants to raise.
- 45:35He likes them when they're in his favor, though.
- 45:37But the thing about that, if you look back to when Danny, Rick and Max were teammates,
- 45:42there was a tour consecutive weekends where the team orders came into play and Max passed
- 45:46Danny got the win when Danny could have done it because of the strategy.
- 45:50The following weekend, Danny's car was breaking down.
- 45:52Danny was ahead of them getting the win, got team orders to drop back.
- 45:56Max told them no four times and did not pass Danny to let him get the win because of what
- 46:00happened the prior week.
- 46:02Old Max, let's look at the last two years with him in Checo.
- 46:04It's a completely different story.
- 46:06I am not doing that for Checo.
- 46:07He said that to Checo, you know, I'm not doing that.
- 46:10No, you don't ask me to do that again.
- 46:12So you're talking about old school.
- 46:13Yeah, that's true.
- 46:14You're talking about old school when he was with Ricardo.
- 46:16That was a different Max.
- 46:17That was a Max a lot of people liked, I think, because he was like, you know, it's like,
- 46:20listen, I'm new to the industry.
- 46:21I'm new to doing this race and stuff.
- 46:22I'm new to the racing stuff, obviously, but that also goes to say.
- 46:25But I mean, to that, that's also the point where Max just wants to race.
- 46:28Whoever's the better driver, whoever's the quicker driver gets the spot.
- 46:31I think I think honestly, if they're close, if they're close, let's say, OK, so I'm going
- 46:35to put put some out in front of you.
- 46:37If they are close at the end of the season, let's say they are neck and neck and points
- 46:40in the final race and they're both racing an amazing race.
- 46:43But science is a lot faster than Max.
- 46:45You think they're pulling science off there to not let Max win and get the next championship?
- 46:49I think you got to shut up and let him race.
- 46:52Nobody says nothing.
- 46:53I think Max's ego would get in the way and would not want to win the championship that
- 46:56way.
- 46:57No, no shot.
- 46:59I think he's I think he's hoody footing around everything next year.
- 47:03If he's with science and science is winning races over him, it's a different we're going
- 47:07to see a different Max.
- 47:08We're going to see the real Max next year if he's with science and science is winning
- 47:12races just on pure talent and not just it, man.
- 47:15I think Max would accept that science is going to be and would just try to get better.
- 47:19I don't think he would go and try to get team orders.
- 47:21I really don't see that out of Max.
- 47:23I feel like that's definitely and probably not a conversation for right now.
- 47:26But will Max like how will Max reacts knowing that he's now under pressure?
- 47:30Like I feel like he's been he's been having it easy.
- 47:34Is he going to start complaining more?
- 47:35Like will he start kind of, you know, messing up a little bit more because he's got someone
- 47:38fighting him?
- 47:39Obviously, there's no doubt he's an amazing driver.
- 47:42He got where he is because he's an amazing driver.
- 47:44But if he's not winning consistently, you know, does that temper start to flare more?
- 47:48Does he start hitting people off track?
- 47:50Does he hit himself off track?
- 47:52Like I think when when he and Lewis were fighting really, really hard, he didn't have any championships
- 47:56under his belt at that point.
- 47:57But now he's got something to lose.
- 47:59Yeah, I think.
- 48:00That's a good point.
- 48:01I think the true Max will show up if he's battling somebody that can beat him week in
- 48:04and week out.
- 48:05I think the true Max will show up.
- 48:07That true Max, I'll throw this out there.
- 48:09I know I've been a hater of Max a lot.
- 48:10That true Max might be even better than he is right now.
- 48:13Let's not forget about that.
- 48:14Like he could be just so much more of a dog on the track when he's got pressure because
- 48:17when he had the pressure and when he was newer coming on, I mean, he did perform.
- 48:22So just because he's been here and doing it and it's been easy doesn't mean that he doesn't
- 48:26have that dog in.
- 48:27But the only thing with that, too, though, is we have to remember who the two are that
- 48:30are calling shots at Red Bull.
- 48:32It's Christian Horner and Helmut Marka.
- 48:34You think Helmut gives a who Max Verstappen is if science is going to win a championship?
- 48:38No, but I think Horner does.
- 48:39I don't.
- 48:40I think Horner would put that I don't.
- 48:42I think Horner would whoever's the better driver would be the better driver.
- 48:45Horner's like Max's second dad by blood.
- 48:49No, I mean, I know I get that.
- 48:51They're definitely that's definitely a boy.
- 48:53Like Red Bull energy drink.
- 48:55I just don't see it out of Max.
- 48:56I really don't.
- 48:57I really don't.
- 48:58I got one more name to throw at you.
- 48:59I got I got not at all.
- 49:00Max Lover, Max Hater.
- 49:01I got one more.
- 49:02I got one more name to throw at you and actually from Kev, whom I didn't introduce at the beginning
- 49:08of the show.
- 49:09So my bad.
- 49:10He does everything behind the scenes.
- 49:11So thanks, Kev.
- 49:12Ones and twos.
- 49:13No, that's that's NFL.
- 49:14He does the lug nuts.
- 49:15Wait, no, that's not good.
- 49:16So let's just move on.
- 49:17Thanks, Kev.
- 49:18So anyway, Kev said, do you think there's a way to obtain Oliver Bierman for that spot?
- 49:25No shot.
- 49:26Too early.
- 49:27Way too sorry, Kev.
- 49:28I thought I'll put it out there for you.
- 49:30But that's that's not one of those seats where you can just jump into.
- 49:36Like, obviously, the Red Bull had that thing a couple years ago where they had Blankin
- 49:41on the name that Albon and Gasly Gasly jump in that seat.
- 49:46They learned from that.
- 49:47They're not going to do that again.
- 49:48They want veterans right now.
- 49:49Maybe when the rebuild or something is down ticking right now, they're like, OK, we can
- 49:52win.
- 49:53Let's win.
- 49:54Let's get the right people in the seat.
- 49:55Not at all.
- 49:56There's two, maybe three teams on the grid right now that are not going to have a rookie
- 50:01go into their spot.
- 50:02Ferrari, Red Bull, maybe Mercedes, we'll see with Kimi.
- 50:07So real quick, who gets that Mercedes seat next year?
- 50:10100 percent right now.
- 50:11Who's getting that Mercedes?
- 50:12It's so wild because it's like to me, it's where science is going to go.
- 50:16Is he going to Mercedes?
- 50:17Is he going to Red Bull?
- 50:18Is he going to throw a wrench in every option?
- 50:20Is he not for him?
- 50:22He can go wherever the hell who wants.
- 50:23I know.
- 50:24It's like so where he where he goes like and he could throw a huge wrench and say, hey,
- 50:28I want to turn Alpine around.
- 50:29He's silly.
- 50:30But it's like he obviously that obviously that won't happen.
- 50:34But you look at it like it that's going to be so interesting for what Mercedes if they
- 50:38want to go to the future, they get Kimi.
- 50:42But I think Bearman's a shoe into that.
- 50:44So is Kimi coming in immediately?
- 50:46Like next year, you think no matter he could come in if they can't land like a signs and
- 50:50maybe your option is Albon instead or something that you think they'd go with Kimi?
- 50:54I think if Kimi is not in F1 next year with Mercedes, he would have to have an atrocious
- 50:59F2 season next year if he's in F2 next year and not a reserve driver for him not to be
- 51:04in a different team the following year.
- 51:06And Mercedes will not make that mistake and let somebody walk like the whole like letting
- 51:10like reverse tap into Red Bull.
- 51:12I don't think Kimi Kimi is so highly touted that he will not make it another year.
- 51:18So around that, do you think that the biggest news we'll hear is not who goes first as far
- 51:23as Red Bull and Mercedes, but it's actually who's science picks?
- 51:27Yep.
- 51:28I mean, I think if Red Bull gives him the seat, he's going to take Red Bull.
- 51:31I think it's just if Mercedes.
- 51:34So I think listen, I think Mercedes wants signs and I think signs wants Red Bull.
- 51:40And I don't know if Red Bull is going to give signs the seat.
- 51:43So he might have to fall back on Mercedes.
- 51:45But if Mercedes offers it to him first, is he waiting for that Red Bull seat to be offered
- 51:50or is he just taking Mercedes?
- 51:51And then what?
- 51:52You don't get it?
- 51:53So is but is Ferrari kind of obviously they've had a downtick, but let's look at Ferrari for
- 52:00a second here.
- 52:01They're filled up, obviously, but they've had this like people want to go to Ferrari
- 52:04because it's Ferrari.
- 52:06Has Lewis helped build up the Mercedes where some of these top dogs like science wants
- 52:10to go to Mercedes to carry on that title and try to win a championship there now?
- 52:14I don't think drivers of this caliber care that much about that.
- 52:19And it's more so where is it going to give them the best chance to win?
- 52:22I think that's more of a fan thing than like the drivers when you get to the ultimate pinnacle
- 52:26of the sport.
- 52:27Fair.
- 52:28I would maybe even revise it that I think it's more in this day and age that probably
- 52:32doesn't happen as easy as it did, you know, with the Michael Schumacher era, especially
- 52:37now that we see we see Lewis had his seven years, right.
- 52:42And now it's three consistent years of the Mercedes being not great.
- 52:46I just yeah, I just think it's you know, the more thing about I think it's Albon to Mercedes
- 52:51or sorry, Albon to Red Bull, Albon to Red Bull.
- 52:54And I think it's science to Mercedes.
- 52:55That's what I'm thinking right now.
- 52:56Or swap.
- 52:57I think it's the swap.
- 52:58I for some reason, my guts tell me Albon to Mercedes for whatever reason.
- 53:02I don't know.
- 53:03I haven't heard that at all.
- 53:04That's interesting.
- 53:05That's me.
- 53:06That's me.
- 53:07But like, I think I think Carlos has a better chance at going into the Red Bull and then
- 53:10Albon to Mercedes.
- 53:11But I don't know if that's where I move.
- 53:14But does Vettel come back at all?
- 53:16So I want no, I was rumored to come back.
- 53:19Where are you?
- 53:22He says he wants to he wants to go racing again.
- 53:24But I don't know.
- 53:26So it's only do that only go to a top three team.
- 53:29I don't I don't necessarily agree.
- 53:30Or if you're talking about Mercedes, he went to Alfa Romeo after Ferrari.
- 53:34I know.
- 53:35And they were atrocious.
- 53:36So but it's interesting you bring that up because I think that plays a big part.
- 53:38You look at a Mercedes spot, you got Vettel, who's a German guy.
- 53:41Mercedes, obviously a German brand.
- 53:43Like, when was the last time Mercedes had a German driver Schumacher?
- 53:47No, it was Nico.
- 53:49Yeah, wasn't he?
- 53:50I'm pretty sure he was with that.
- 53:51But I think that was 2016 or something.
- 53:52I can't remember anyone, but I think.
- 53:53Yeah, I don't think it is.
- 53:54I don't think it the determining factors around Vettel, obviously, I think it'd be awesome
- 53:55to see him back in the in the sport.
- 53:56But I think like we talked about earlier, I think it's science.
- 53:57I think honestly, I know you said it's he wants to go to Red Bull, but he might not have
- 53:58that.
- 53:59I think he's got a pick of the litter right now and he's just determining where he wants
- 54:00to go.
- 54:01I would agree with that.
- 54:02I think science goes where he wants to go.
- 54:03I think he's got a pick of the litter right now and he's just determining where he wants
- 54:04to go.
- 54:05I would agree with that.
- 54:24I think he's got a pick of the litter right now and he's just determining where he wants
- 54:49to go.
- 54:50I think he's got a pick of the litter right now and he's just determining where he wants
- 55:08to go.
- 55:09commented on science performance and said that there was another former driver or like a driver a part of the Red Bull driving system
- 55:15Whatever it was because he drove for
- 55:18Toro Rosso and his dad is a rally Red Bull driver
- 55:22It just it makes sense. Why wouldn't he want to go his dad was a multiple rally champion. That was an absolute
- 55:28He still he still races. Yeah. Yeah, I know idea. Yeah, he's an absolute dog
- 55:31There's just it's just it's a match made in heaven
- 55:34He either goes to Red Bull or Audi down the line and I think
- 55:37He was always more than money
- 55:39He wants to he wants a chance to win the championship even if max is your driving partner Red Bull is the car to do that
- 55:46Yeah, and I think the thing with Audi like it at that point. It's like what do you really want science?
- 55:50Do you want a championship or do you want money?
- 55:51Oh, he's gonna give him the money, but I don't think a team that's brand new that's coming in will not compete for a championship
- 55:58Will not real quick before we move on because we absolutely have to move on but if you're if your signs right now
- 56:04Do you do you want to hurry up and make that decision so it's done in overall so you can actually focus on this season?
- 56:09And finish this season out strong focused and all that and then you know up in the next seat next year what he's focused
- 56:16I mean
- 56:18I don't I don't think it affects anything for him behind the car. We neither he's proven something right now
- 56:23So he's just waiting. Yeah. All right, fair enough fair enough. Let's head right into the China preview
- 56:28All right head right into the China preview
- 56:31Just want to remind all of our listeners out there the millions that listen to us
- 56:35Just want to make sure like, you know, obviously our recaps gonna be the longest part of the segment
- 56:39So that's why our our previews are so short because we're gonna recap that son of a gun anyway, so
- 56:45Let's head right into it. Joe's got some China Grand Prix facts for us
- 56:49Yeah, this is the first China race in five years. So I don't have a last year recap
- 56:53I did, you know scrounge up a few things to talk about instead just for you know memory sake 2019
- 57:00We saw Hamilton Boatas and then Vettel in that podium. This track is a 56 lap
- 57:0656 lap track. It's designed to look like the Chinese symbol for Shang
- 57:10Which means upwards when seemed in the air and this also features one of the longest straights in the calendar
- 57:14So I think that seems kind of like a buffet for some Red Bulls
- 57:17I think that's a good way to look at it. I think it's a good way to look at it
- 57:20It seems kind of like a buffet for some Red Bulls. I think we're gonna see some hopefully some nice overtakes
- 57:26That portion is so fun on the track in the game. It's just a dead straight
- 57:31It's a it's a great track. I'm really looking forward to it
- 57:34I'm not looking forward to maybe staying up until 2 a.m. Local time
- 57:36So we'll see if maybe I just catch the recorded version the day after since the last China GP
- 57:42We saw Hamilton at a sixth and seventh world title. We saw Max take three of those in a row
- 57:47Racing point became Aston Martin Renault became Alpine
- 57:51Alpha became kick salver and Toro Rosso became Alfa Tari and then RB and then we saw Kimi
- 57:58Raikkonen and Vettel retire as well as Alonso return from retirement five years a lot of stuff happening within those five years
- 58:06Only four drivers on the grid have not raced here yet
- 58:08It's our our you know rookies from the from the last few years Oscar Yuki Logan and Joe, which is his first home race
- 58:17Real quick. I thought I saw somewhere that
- 58:21Michael Schumacher's last win also came in China
- 58:24Anybody know that I thought I saw somewhere that that was the case but
- 58:29Anyway, I mean pretty fast track though. What are we what are we looking for this week? We're looking for
- 58:35Mmm. I mean I'd imagine we see the McLaren's finish in front of both Mercedes again
- 58:40I get all I could also see Alonso splitting the Mercedes again
- 58:45Louis just doesn't look like he can quite keep up with Alonso right now
- 58:48When's the last time there's been this big of a gap or that they've raced to track?
- 58:53Is he last time was 2019 right?
- 58:56Yeah, 2019. Yeah, so when's the last time there's this big of a gap cuz I think that's gonna
- 59:00I mean
- 59:00I think this might play to the seniority of a lot of these guys like Lewis and
- 59:03And all those guys that have been here while yeah, there's rookies who haven't raced it at all
- 59:07But I mean, there's also guys have only raced it a couple of years, right?
- 59:11No, I think that's gonna be a massive factor. I don't know. It's gotta be one of the biggest gaps. You don't think so
- 59:16I don't think it's gonna be that with all the simulators now
- 59:19That's the thing is I don't think it's gonna be that big of a factor just because of the the new age Sims
- 59:23It's you're in your car driving on that track exactly like it is
- 59:27So it looks like that was Schumacher's 91st and final f1 victory guess who we beat
- 59:33The drivers in this race Lewis Fernando Fernando
- 59:38I don't know fun little tidbit
- 59:41Maybe Fernando goes off. He's not beating no Red Bulls, but
- 59:45Can we can we see a Ferrari get to this week beat Sergio you don't think so
- 59:50I mean, that was a great bounce back raised by Sergio
- 59:52I just think but with with how many with how fast this track is. I just don't see anybody with the Red Bulls
- 59:59This does anybody challenge the Ferraris?
- 1:00:03No
- 1:00:04McLaren's got pretty good top line speed don't know they do but it's like the Ferraris is
- 1:00:09This year than compared to what it was last year though. I don't think they're gonna touch them
- 1:00:13I was just pointing out the McLaren fan scene that they're gonna stand behind their boys here on this one
- 1:00:16It turns out they didn't I mean it's just but that's good. We know they're not giant freaking homers listen
- 1:00:21I'm trying to be realistic as I can I want I want listen I want McLaren to win the whole thing, but that's
- 1:00:28It's not playing video game. Yeah, we're not playing video games there
- 1:00:31There's just such a big gap even between the Ferrari and the McLaren right now. Yeah, it's
- 1:00:35It's not a fun year so far with like action just like ah
- 1:00:39I think we see one or both Haas and points this week and when I say why when I say both
- 1:00:46I'm saying nine ten. I'm saying nine ten
- 1:00:49No, hey, no shot right there. Maybe ten I could see him in ten
- 1:00:54I could seem to get ten but not nine ten one or both so I guess I gotta pick one right, but yeah
- 1:00:58I can see one I can see all bond taking a nine ten this year this week. Yes
- 1:01:03Williams
- 1:01:05Both houses in the top ten that's I think I think you'll see you keep battling right there again for sure
- 1:01:11Yeah, I don't know that V carb doesn't have great top end speed. No, I don't I think
- 1:01:15I'll agree. He's it's gonna be Haas and Haas and Williams
- 1:01:18I think with al-bond fighting there for the nine tennis houses top line speed isn't horrible
- 1:01:24They're not gonna be no Aston, you know, but and Williams is good this way this might hurt Aston I think
- 1:01:32You said well, I thought this is an Alonzo. I mean it's like it is every week
- 1:01:35It's like stroll is probably not gonna finish in the top ten
- 1:01:38So it's like is a lot of gonna grab another five six. I think we've I think we see him down towards the eight this week
- 1:01:44I think I think he's eighth this week. This might be where Mercedes hurts to kind of break away a little bit start going away
- 1:01:49Yeah Mercedes
- 1:01:50I mean they don't got any top end speed
- 1:01:51Well, the Mercedes actually has the top end speed their top end speed in their DRS is actually effective
- 1:01:56It hasn't looked horrible with the RS. They just lose everything in the corners
- 1:02:00They have no low end speed or high sir corner speed. It was everything in the corner
- 1:02:04That's what I mean Lewis just hasn't Lewis just hasn't looked comfortable in the car like at all to me
- 1:02:08But like when is he gonna figure it out?
- 1:02:11That's what that's what it is for me George like it's just inconsistent AF, but I think he's getting there
- 1:02:17He's got the skill. I think he does but he just
- 1:02:20God he just seems so inconsistent. He definitely looks more comfortable in the Mercedes. Oh George. Yeah
- 1:02:25Oh, yeah compared to like last year 100% or just compared to complete previous years in general
- 1:02:29I'll compare to Hamilton hundred percent. I think Hamilton with his seniority and on this track
- 1:02:34It's gonna be a thing here for him
- 1:02:36And I also think that I think this is you know, we're talking about the McLaren and the Mercedes battle there
- 1:02:40I think we're gonna see a Mercedes McLaren Mercedes McLaren finish this race
- 1:02:46Well, I think George or Lewis is gonna finish above Lando. Whoa, that's a hot take. Whoa, I'm not think so cap
- 1:02:54No
- 1:02:56Joe says cap
- 1:02:58What was that then what's your podium then?
- 1:03:03My podium I'm gonna go with Verstappen
- 1:03:07sign hot take science
- 1:03:09science and
- 1:03:11Leclerc
- 1:03:13Oh
- 1:03:15Red Bull Ferrari Ferrari, we know something's gonna go wrong with check out there. Come on. It's been too many races in a row
- 1:03:20Joe, who's your podium?
- 1:03:22Podium is gonna be max checko and I'm gonna go with Leclerc this week
- 1:03:28Boom Tyler I'm gonna I'm gonna be boring same as last week. I got Verstappen checko and science
- 1:03:34Okay. Well and I got nothing to lose. So I'm gonna go with Max. Of course that at least gives me something
- 1:03:41Hmm. I'm gonna go Leclerc and
- 1:03:48Leclerc and Lando
- 1:03:50Yikes
- 1:03:52I know
- 1:03:54Yikes
- 1:03:56For those keeping score at home
- 1:03:58The reason Smelty has nothing to lose
- 1:03:59He is bringing up the rear at five points and followed by Cole at six points
- 1:04:04I have had seven and Joe is still in the lead with eight. So one point difference between all spots
- 1:04:09What am I doing taking chances like that?
- 1:04:11The sergeant of the podium
- 1:04:13That's it
- 1:04:15Oh
- 1:04:17No, that's not fair
- 1:04:19He racked up zero points for that to be right
- 1:04:21You know what your new nickname is?
- 1:04:23He hasn't crashed and burned yet, that's true
- 1:04:25His new nickname is Bully
- 1:04:27You're just out there wrecking the score dude
- 1:04:29GORNICH
- 1:04:31I mean let's be honest four of your five points have come from Verstappen
- 1:04:35It's a safe bet homie
- 1:04:37So have all you guys
- 1:04:39Get off my case
- 1:04:41I think our podium tracker is already lined with Verstappen's every single week
- 1:04:45So yeah I may not have updated that yesterday
- 1:04:47That's really not his bet
- 1:04:49I will be going off that at least a couple races this year I'll be getting crazy
- 1:04:54I gotta see a lot for me to not take Verstappen
- 1:04:58He might need to get his appendix removed
- 1:05:00There we go
- 1:05:02Well with that
- 1:05:04We're gonna go ahead and
- 1:05:06No that was horrible I was gonna say
- 1:05:08No nevermind
- 1:05:10So with that let's just wrap it up here
