- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to our first episode of A Very Outspoken Christmas,
- 0:05Speaker 1: our summer series for December. Every Thursday in the lead
- 0:09Speaker 1: up to Christmas, we will be dropping a special interview episode.
- 0:13Speaker 1: And today's episode features the one and only Indy Clinton.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Now on Tuesdays, it's back to our regular scheduling over
- 0:20Speaker 1: summer with a new influencer episode every week. Let's get
- 0:24Speaker 1: into the episode with Indy because it's a fun one.
- 0:29Speaker 2: The creator of the year is Indie Clinton! Singing an
- 0:35Speaker 2: influencer-like post is shit. You're just like, shut the fuck up.
- 0:39Speaker 2: You're so tone deaf, and I get it. I think
- 0:41Speaker 2: the same all the time. I mean, you want a
- 0:45Speaker 2: supportive husband. I've been doing this for 11 years. He
- 0:47Speaker 2: knew what he was getting himself into. Everyone on TikTok
- 0:50Speaker 2: has said you look like this guy. I definitely see it.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I can get high.
- 0:55Speaker 1: LAUGHTER What is the wildest thing you've read online that
- 0:59Speaker 1: you're just like, that is so far from the truth?
- 1:01Speaker 2: Okay, this is just wild. That for me was a
- 1:06Speaker 2: turning point because I was like, holy shit, people really
- 1:09Speaker 2: do just make things up. What about Molly Mae?
- 1:13Speaker 3: Do you think she copied your baby name?
- 1:15Speaker 2: Do you think she did? See, I keep questioning myself
- 1:18Speaker 2: because I'm like, she doesn't know I exist. But I'm
- 1:21Speaker 2: also like, what are the chances? I never said to myself,
- 1:25Speaker 2: I want to call my kids outrageous, unique names. It's
- 1:27Speaker 2: just kind of what I was drawn to. I don't
- 1:30Speaker 2: want to birth a Greg or like, you know, like
- 1:33Speaker 2: a Steve. I've been in this game for 11 years
- 1:35Speaker 2: and from every management I've had, I've always been taught
- 1:38Speaker 2: never talk on anything ever, ever. Just be quiet, be quiet.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I'm like, why do I have to be quiet for once?
- 1:43Speaker 2: Like I've been quiet my whole life on everything. Why
- 1:45Speaker 2: do I have to be quiet about this?
- 1:49Speaker 1: Indie First, welcome to Outspoken. We were so excited when
- 1:52Speaker 1: you said that you would join us because we thought
- 1:55Speaker 1: you might hate us because initially when we spoke about you,
- 1:58Speaker 1: we spoke about your decision to wear makeup and fake
- 2:02Speaker 1: tan when you were giving birth. And I think we
- 2:04Speaker 1: got our wires crossed because this is something we would
- 2:06Speaker 1: totally do as well.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Totally. I remember when that episode came out and I
- 2:10Speaker 2: listened to it. actually wasn't even offended it takes a
- 2:13Speaker 2: lot for me to hate someone but yes I feel
- 2:17Speaker 2: like now Kate can understand where I'm coming from when
- 2:20Speaker 2: you are pregnant right you feel so out of body
- 2:24Speaker 2: you do not feel like yourself you feel like an
- 2:26Speaker 2: alien you're putting on weight you're trying not to put
- 2:28Speaker 2: on weight you're like getting hemorrhoids I mean with soul
- 2:31Speaker 2: I literally had like a hernia in my groin so
- 2:34Speaker 2: it made one side of my vagina bulge like I
- 2:37Speaker 2: felt disgusting every pregnancy and So honestly, the least I
- 2:41Speaker 2: could do to make myself feel better was fake tan,
- 2:44Speaker 2: put on some makeup. I don't care if it's going
- 2:46Speaker 2: to come off if I'm pushing and I'm sweating, like
- 2:48Speaker 2: at least I walk into the hospital feeling hot. And
- 2:51Speaker 2: then that's the least I can do. And I just
- 2:53Speaker 2: feel like so many women, I had so much support,
- 2:55Speaker 2: but I also had so much negativity being like, how
- 2:58Speaker 2: vain could you really be? I mean, you're bringing, I'm like,
- 3:01Speaker 2: what do you mean? I've literally just sacrificed the last
- 3:03Speaker 2: nine months growing a human. Like this is the smallest
- 3:07Speaker 2: thing I can do for myself.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Our family friend, she always says that it's actually more
- 3:12Speaker 1: vain to not fake tan and to not wear makeup
- 3:15Speaker 1: and think that you look amazing.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Give me her number. I agree. I just think there's
- 3:20Speaker 2: so much judgment on women and what they choose to do.
- 3:23Speaker 2: And I'm like, honestly, I've just carried this child for
- 3:26Speaker 2: nine months. I feel disgusting. I'm going to feel disgusting
- 3:30Speaker 2: for postpartum period. I may as well feel good for
- 3:33Speaker 2: this short amount of time. Um, but you know, it
- 3:36Speaker 2: was funny when I had, I think I did too
- 3:38Speaker 2: many layers when I had Navy, like a fake tan.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I do way too many layers because when he came
- 3:43Speaker 2: out and I put him on the boob, I'm convinced
- 3:46Speaker 2: he had brown, like around his mouth from like the
- 3:49Speaker 2: sucking and the sweat. I'm like, Oh my God, I'm
- 3:51Speaker 2: literally poisoning my newborn child with this fondant. See, I'm jealous.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Cause I actually had an elective cesarean and I was
- 4:01Speaker 1: devastated because they told me I couldn't wear makeup or tan.
- 4:05Speaker 3: And I said to my partner, I'm like, surely that's
- 4:06Speaker 3: not true. Surely I can put it on. And he's like,
- 4:08Speaker 3: do not put it on.
- 4:09Speaker 1: So I had Sophie rush into the hospital room after
- 4:13Speaker 1: Jack was born, putting makeup on me.
- 4:15Speaker 3: And I was like, I'm so sorry to the midwife.
- 4:17Speaker 3: This is so embarrassing, but I just did not. Yeah,
- 4:20Speaker 3: you just feel so gross.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Well, poor Kate had a whole load of people waiting
- 4:24Speaker 1: in the waiting room as well. Like we were so rude.
- 4:26Speaker 1: We came in right after she'd given birth.
- 4:28Speaker 2: You came in straight away? Like were you allowed into the,
- 4:32Speaker 2: not the birthing suite, what is it, the operations?
- 4:35Speaker 3: Oh no, we didn't go that far.
- 4:36Speaker 2: You weren't like knocking on the door.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Well, basically I got whipped out of recovery and they
- 4:41Speaker 1: were just like flocked to the hospital bed and I
- 4:44Speaker 1: was like.
- 4:44Speaker 3: What's going on? It was my in-laws as well.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So yeah, it was, um, it was, it was beautiful,
- 4:50Speaker 1: but yeah, I just, I totally understand why you did
- 4:53Speaker 1: that now.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 4:55Speaker 2: You're with me. You guys were against me. Now you're
- 4:57Speaker 2: with me.
- 4:58Speaker 3: We all learn and grow, don't we?
- 5:01Speaker 2: Hey, how do you feel having your little boy called
- 5:04Speaker 2: Jack and Justin Bieber and Hailey just called back? Like
- 5:07Speaker 2: you're a trendsetter, babe.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I know. I feel like we're, you know, very much
- 5:10Speaker 1: on the same page now because you are with the
- 5:12Speaker 1: unique names. And I'm like, Jack, surely no one's really
- 5:14Speaker 1: going to– I mean, it is in the top ten
- 5:16Speaker 1: of very, you know.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Popular names. It's a good name. It doesn't grow old,
- 5:20Speaker 2: I feel.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Well, that's what– I'm pregnant at the moment and so
- 5:26Speaker 1: I feel you about the feeling like shit for, well,
- 5:29Speaker 1: I suppose it's only been 15 weeks but I'm already
- 5:31Speaker 1: over it.
- 5:32Speaker 3: But I want some advice.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I found out that I'm having a boy and your
- 5:37Speaker 1: names are so unique for your kids.
- 5:39Speaker 3: I feel like I need a bit of inspo from you.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, but unless you like unique names, you're
- 5:43Speaker 2: not going to like mine. Like if you want to
- 5:45Speaker 2: call your child grass or tree, like come to me,
- 5:48Speaker 2: I will give you unique names.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Do you know what? It's funny because when I– before
- 5:52Speaker 2: I had kids, I never– like, I never said to myself,
- 5:55Speaker 2: I want to call my kids outrageous, unique names. It's
- 5:58Speaker 2: just kind of what I was drawn to. And I've
- 6:01Speaker 2: always kind of done what I've always wanted to do. So, like,
- 6:03Speaker 2: it wasn't anything– I think Navy's name for a girl,
- 6:07Speaker 2: he was going to be Banksy. And I thought I
- 6:09Speaker 2: was so unique. I was like Banksy, like the artist.
- 6:12Speaker 2: And then I started seeing other people, like influencers call
- 6:14Speaker 2: their daughters Banksy. And I'm like, oh my God, how
- 6:17Speaker 2: did you think of that? Like that, I thought of
- 6:19Speaker 2: that first. So lucky he wasn't a girl. But a
- 6:22Speaker 2: boy's name's hard because... For me, I want it to
- 6:25Speaker 2: be strong and masculine, but also not like, I don't
- 6:29Speaker 2: want to birth a Greg or like, you know, like
- 6:32Speaker 2: a Steve. Like I'm not going to, I'm not going
- 6:34Speaker 2: to birth a baby and then be like, oh my God, Steve,
- 6:36Speaker 2: you beautiful little thing. But yeah, I don't know. I
- 6:40Speaker 2: actually have no, oh, I wanted Hawk. See, you know what, Amy,
- 6:44Speaker 2: you're not going to like these names. Okay.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I am a bit more of a traditional gal, but.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I like a unique name for the middle name. I
- 6:50Speaker 1: think saying that I did pick Edward, which is a
- 6:52Speaker 1: very traditional.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Name, but I think those are very traditional. I know.
- 6:56Speaker 3: But, um, with Justin Bieber, he went Jack blues and
- 6:59Speaker 3: I was like, Oh, I think.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 3: He needed to.
- 7:03Speaker 2: The only thing with his name, it kind of reminds
- 7:05Speaker 2: me of the cigarettes, Winnie blues. Wait, they're the cigarettes, right? Yeah,
- 7:10Speaker 2: I think they are. There's something. I mean, Winnie Blues,
- 7:13Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe that's not a thing in America,
- 7:16Speaker 2: but I really, I do like the name Jack Blues.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Like it's very Justin Bieber.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Yeah. What about, because Molly May, she seemingly copied your
- 7:27Speaker 1: baby name, Bambi.
- 7:28Speaker 3: How were you feeling?
- 7:29Speaker 2: Do you think she did? See, I keep questioning myself
- 7:32Speaker 2: because I'm like, she doesn't know I exist, but I'm
- 7:34Speaker 2: also like, what are the chances?
- 7:37Speaker 1: I think she would because she follows Tammy Hembrough. So
- 7:39Speaker 1: surely she– I mean, I haven't checked your follower list.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Have you looked?
- 7:44Speaker 2: I don't think she follows me. I mean, you know what?
- 7:48Speaker 2: I do think it was coincidental because there are names
- 7:51Speaker 2: out there. I mean, she thought she was being super original.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I thought I was being super original. But I'm a
- 7:57Speaker 2: little bit annoyed because now it's going to become this like–
- 8:00Speaker 2: I didn't watch her on Love Island, but I know
- 8:02Speaker 2: I think it's like that whole... There's a huge part
- 8:05Speaker 2: of the UK that's real tacky and they're like, it's
- 8:08Speaker 2: a bit like that. Everyone's going to call their kid Bambi.
- 8:11Speaker 2: And I'm like, fuck. Now I'm not that original. Now
- 8:13Speaker 2: there's going to be every man and their dog's going
- 8:15Speaker 2: to be called Bambi. But no, I actually don't really
- 8:17Speaker 2: care that she copied. She's just made it more of
- 8:19Speaker 2: a trendy name. But I feel like that's how... people
- 8:23Speaker 2: probably feel when influencers, like, think they've discovered something and
- 8:26Speaker 2: then actually every other person knows about it and they
- 8:29Speaker 2: get annoyed because they're like, oh, you've ruined it for everyone.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Do you know what's happened, though?
- 8:34Speaker 1: I reckon she was following you and then when she
- 8:37Speaker 1: decided to call her daughter Bambi was like, shit, I
- 8:39Speaker 1: better unfollow Indy.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Maybe. Yeah, she, you know what? I don't even know.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I think I take it as flattery. I don't really
- 8:46Speaker 2: care if people call for me. The world's too big. Like,
- 8:49Speaker 2: am I really think, I really think I'm that original?
- 8:52Speaker 2: Probably not. I mean, and Bambi is such a cute name.
- 8:55Speaker 2: It's cute. I actually compare, I saw the baby's, her baby,
- 8:58Speaker 2: a photo the other day. I'm like, oh, it so
- 9:00Speaker 2: doesn't look like a Bambi. I feel like my Bambi does,
- 9:02Speaker 2: but I think that's what every kid, every mom thinks
- 9:05Speaker 2: about their name, right? It's like, but no. Yeah. Molly,
- 9:08Speaker 2: if you listen to this, I don't really care, but
- 9:11Speaker 2: let's put them in the fighting room.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Your Bambi is so cute.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I mean, sorry, it probably sounds weird that I've got
- 9:17Speaker 1: a parasocial relationship with your children, but she, I mean,
- 9:20Speaker 1: I'm probably glad that I'm not parenting her, as you say,
- 9:23Speaker 1: because we were just talking about her waking up very early,
- 9:26Speaker 1: but she is just so entertaining and so gorgeous.
- 9:29Speaker 3: As are all of your kids.
- 9:31Speaker 1: How did you feel when she was only eight months
- 9:35Speaker 1: old sorry, I'm.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Just now doing the math in my head. I'm like,
- 9:38Speaker 3: hang on.
- 9:39Speaker 2: It was five months. Thank you.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Yes, five months. That must have been an absolute shock.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yes, it was an absolute shock. And I actually think
- 9:48Speaker 2: about it now because I'm like, oh my God, I
- 9:50Speaker 2: do feel now I've kind of come out of it
- 9:52Speaker 2: where I can see from a different lens. And I'm like, wow,
- 9:55Speaker 2: that was a hectic 10 months or like even more
- 9:59Speaker 2: because I I was obviously not on birth control. I
- 10:02Speaker 2: was five months postpartum. I was still breastfeeding. And like
- 10:05Speaker 2: I got a lot of comments on my TikTok because
- 10:06Speaker 2: I was like, how can I possibly fall pregnant? Because
- 10:09Speaker 2: I hadn't got my period back. Right. So like I
- 10:12Speaker 2: wasn't bleeding. So in my head, I wasn't ovulating.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:16Speaker 2: And I went in for a surgery to get my
- 10:20Speaker 2: CIM3 cells removed. And, like, you couldn't stick anything up
- 10:24Speaker 2: you for two weeks. Like, no sex, no hormones, whatever.
- 10:27Speaker 2: I was like, sweet. And literally on that two-week mark,
- 10:30Speaker 2: we had sex. And that's when I conceived. And I
- 10:33Speaker 2: was like... And that was a real fuckery because that
- 10:37Speaker 2: put me in high risk for the entire pregnancy because
- 10:40Speaker 2: my cervix wasn't, you're meant to wait a year after
- 10:42Speaker 2: that surgery because it like shortens your cervix and all
- 10:45Speaker 2: these other complications. So I didn't think it was possible
- 10:49Speaker 2: for me to fall pregnant. Then I started to, you know,
- 10:52Speaker 2: the two, the classic two week wait is when you're like,
- 10:54Speaker 2: oh my God, am I pregnant? Are these my period symptoms?
- 10:58Speaker 2: And I knew straight away because I get like achy
- 11:00Speaker 2: muscles when I'm pregnant, like in the two weeks, that's
- 11:03Speaker 2: my first sign is kind of like, oh, am I
- 11:05Speaker 2: coming down with the flu or am I pregnant? And
- 11:08Speaker 2: then when I took that test, I was shooketh. I
- 11:11Speaker 2: don't even know the words to describe. I was like,
- 11:13Speaker 2: this can't be real. It's funny. Whenever you take a
- 11:17Speaker 2: pregnancy test, your mind goes to a hundred places, right?
- 11:19Speaker 2: Like you're excited. Then you're like, no, this can't be.
- 11:21Speaker 2: And then it's like, wait, what? We don't even ever
- 11:23Speaker 2: have sex. How can this be?
- 11:25Speaker 3: It's a miracle baby.
- 11:26Speaker 2: That's a conception. And it was just, I was, as
- 11:32Speaker 2: soon as I took it, I'm very much someone that
- 11:34Speaker 2: if a challenge comes to me, I'm like, okay, we
- 11:37Speaker 2: can't go over it. We must go through it. And
- 11:39Speaker 2: I just kind of saw it like that. I was like, okay.
- 11:42Speaker 2: There was a few moments where I was like, I
- 11:44Speaker 2: can't do this. Like Bambi's way too young. This isn't
- 11:47Speaker 2: what I had planned for my year. And I went
- 11:51Speaker 2: back and forth. And then I was like, you know what?
- 11:54Speaker 2: I'll get, it was meant to be clearly. It just,
- 11:57Speaker 2: the little fast swimmer just got up there and that
- 11:59Speaker 2: was soul. And there she was.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I just love the video that you filmed telling Ben
- 12:04Speaker 1: about it, like your genuine reactions. How did he feel
- 12:08Speaker 1: about that going on the internet?
- 12:09Speaker 2: Oh my God. He was like, he doesn't, he's, he's
- 12:12Speaker 2: become so good being on the internet, but it was
- 12:15Speaker 2: funny because he'd been out for lunch. He'd had a
- 12:17Speaker 2: few beers at lunch and He gets home and he's like, no,
- 12:21Speaker 2: like he probably was thinking, what do you mean immaculate conception?
- 12:25Speaker 2: There's just no way because we both knew I hadn't
- 12:28Speaker 2: had my period back. And in our heads, that was
- 12:30Speaker 2: the only way if you're ovulating. But obviously you can
- 12:33Speaker 2: ovulate without a period, which is now I found that out. Um,
- 12:37Speaker 2: and he was just, he was just as shook. He
- 12:40Speaker 2: was probably more worried for me because he knows I
- 12:42Speaker 2: don't really enjoy pregnancy. I mean, I love growing a human.
- 12:45Speaker 2: I love keeping them safe in me, but like the
- 12:48Speaker 2: changes you go through and everything that happens, he was
- 12:51Speaker 2: probably like, oh shit, I've just come out of this
- 12:54Speaker 2: nine months.
- 12:57Speaker 1: It's so hard because you were still breastfeeding as well.
- 12:59Speaker 1: So like you don't even have your body fully back yet.
- 13:02Speaker 2: And yeah. I know. And it was, I was lucky though,
- 13:05Speaker 2: because Bambi weaned herself at like seven months because they
- 13:10Speaker 2: say when you become pregnant, when you're breastfeeding, the milk
- 13:13Speaker 2: changes flavor. Yeah. It changes flavor. It goes a little
- 13:17Speaker 2: bit more salty because of the hormones. So she weaned herself,
- 13:20Speaker 2: which was a bit stressful because as we know, she's
- 13:23Speaker 2: very defiant. She would not take a bottle or formula.
- 13:26Speaker 2: And I went through thousands of dollars trying every different
- 13:29Speaker 2: bottle and formula. Um, and yeah, so she went herself,
- 13:33Speaker 2: but she wasn't a great breastfeeder. She was a biter.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I mean, it makes sense. I look at her now.
- 13:37Speaker 2: I'm like, of course you were, of course you bit
- 13:40Speaker 2: my nipples until they bled every time I fed you.
- 13:43Speaker 1: On the topic of Ben, I heard on your podcast
- 13:45Speaker 1: when you had him on as a guest that he
- 13:47Speaker 1: copped a bit of stick at work over being, you know,
- 13:50Speaker 1: suddenly on your TikTok. Was it true you had to
- 13:53Speaker 1: start blocking his coworkers?
- 13:55Speaker 2: Yeah. That was true, and only this weekend. So I've
- 13:59Speaker 2: been doing work on myself, and I'm becoming just more at,
- 14:03Speaker 2: I'm just like, you know what? That's your issue. So
- 14:06Speaker 2: I unblocked them literally two nights ago because I was like,
- 14:10Speaker 2: you can, he's kind of become more comfortable. The thing
- 14:12Speaker 2: with Ben is he works every, in real estate, in
- 14:16Speaker 2: a very male-dominated industry where having their wife or someone
- 14:21Speaker 2: significant other on social media and putting their life out
- 14:24Speaker 2: there is so foreign to these fucking old men and
- 14:27Speaker 2: they just want to talk and talk and talk. And
- 14:29Speaker 2: I say fucking old men because I'm so annoyed. He's, like,
- 14:33Speaker 2: had to... I mean, you want a supportive husband. I've
- 14:36Speaker 2: been doing this for 11 years. He knew what he
- 14:38Speaker 2: was getting himself into. But, like, the judgment that goes on,
- 14:41Speaker 2: it's like... workplace bullying like he he only found out
- 14:45Speaker 2: just a few days ago like this huge cotton on
- 14:48Speaker 2: campaign we did as a family for Christmas just got
- 14:51Speaker 2: sent around a whatsapp group and like this guy slagging
- 14:55Speaker 2: him and I'm just like why do you do this
- 14:58Speaker 2: I'm just you know he's damned if you do and
- 15:01Speaker 2: damned if you don't he's supporting his wife and his
- 15:04Speaker 2: family he's doing this on a side we're making a
- 15:07Speaker 2: living and you still want to drag him so I
- 15:09Speaker 2: have unblocked them but I'm also like I just don't
- 15:13Speaker 2: know how to get them to stop. I'm like, do
- 15:15Speaker 2: I need to take things into my own hands and
- 15:17Speaker 2: message them? I was like, Ben, I'll message them. I'll
- 15:20Speaker 2: post a story. Trust me, this will get back to them.
- 15:22Speaker 2: He was like, no, please don't add any more fire.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Because the thing is, it's one step forward, two steps back.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Like he gets comfortable. He enters himself into this realm
- 15:32Speaker 2: of social media and he supports me. He participates in
- 15:35Speaker 2: shoots and people love to see him. He has a
- 15:37Speaker 2: great personality and he's, fucking hot and he's funny and whatever.
- 15:42Speaker 2: And then he sees these things and it makes him
- 15:44Speaker 2: want to go back into his shell. So it's just like,
- 15:47Speaker 2: and it makes it hard for me because this is
- 15:49Speaker 2: my work and this is my life and this is
- 15:52Speaker 2: how we support our family. So then when these people talk,
- 15:56Speaker 2: I'm like, you guys got to get with it. It's 2024.
- 15:58Speaker 2: This is a job. This is a career just because
- 16:01Speaker 2: I'm not in a suit selling buildings. But I don't know.
- 16:04Speaker 2: I think, I just think, I just, I'm like, you
- 16:08Speaker 2: guys are so, you guys wish that your partners at
- 16:11Speaker 2: home could do this and have a dual income. We're
- 16:13Speaker 2: all fucking struggling. We all want more money. You don't
- 16:16Speaker 2: need to bring us down for it. But nah, he's happy.
- 16:18Speaker 1: You hit the nail on the head. They obviously just
- 16:20Speaker 1: don't understand social media. I mean, it's funny because my
- 16:23Speaker 1: other sister, Soph, and I, we run a PR business
- 16:26Speaker 1: and sometimes we'll have meetings with some of the older
- 16:30Speaker 1: gentlemen that we work with and they'll be like, oh,
- 16:32Speaker 1: have you got a podcast? We saw it on Daily
- 16:34Speaker 1: Mail and we're like, oh God.
- 16:36Speaker 3: They don't listen to it.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Yeah. They just don't get it. Like they, I feel like,
- 16:40Speaker 2: and they don't realize the extent and how crazy social
- 16:43Speaker 2: media can be. And it can, it's so powerful. And
- 16:46Speaker 2: I'm like, Ben, who does he work for? I'll end
- 16:48Speaker 2: his career. Tell me. He's like, he works for himself.
- 16:49Speaker 2: I'm like, damn it.
- 16:53Speaker 3: It just sounds like a lot of jealousy as well.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Yeah. I think it does come down to jealousy as well. And,
- 16:58Speaker 2: It's just hard because he really comes out of his
- 17:01Speaker 2: shell to help support me. And he's trying hard to
- 17:04Speaker 2: support me because otherwise it would just cause so much
- 17:07Speaker 2: conflict if I felt he was not supportive. And then
- 17:09Speaker 2: he adds all this head noise at work. And I'm like, okay,
- 17:13Speaker 2: it's not like this man's taking his clothes off on
- 17:15Speaker 2: the internet. Like he's literally like it's in our home.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I don't know. It's just so foreign to them. And
- 17:20Speaker 2: they're so narrow minded. They just can't. just move on
- 17:24Speaker 2: with it. Like have another topic of conversation. Is work
- 17:27Speaker 2: really that slow? That's what you want to talk about?
- 17:28Speaker 2: And like send in your WhatsApp messages. I'll give you
- 17:31Speaker 2: something to talk about. Let me turn my top off.
- 17:34Speaker 3: They call women bitches, but I mean, that is just
- 17:36Speaker 3: such bitchy behavior.
- 17:38Speaker 2: I know. And it's so, and he takes it on
- 17:41Speaker 2: so well. Like he didn't want to tell me when
- 17:42Speaker 2: he told me yesterday or the day before, he was like,
- 17:45Speaker 2: I don't want to tell you because I don't want
- 17:47Speaker 2: you to do anything. And I don't want you to
- 17:49Speaker 2: get on your story.
- 17:53Speaker 3: He knows you too well.
- 17:54Speaker 2: He knows me too well. Like anything, if someone says something,
- 17:57Speaker 2: I'm like, I'll get on my stories. Don't you, don't
- 17:59Speaker 2: you worry, babe. I got you.
- 18:01Speaker 1: It's so annoying though. Cause that cotton on campaign, you
- 18:04Speaker 1: guys killed it. Like we went and bought the pajamas.
- 18:06Speaker 1: We bought some for our husbands. Cause we're going to
- 18:08Speaker 1: force them to wear them on Christmas day in the morning. Like,
- 18:12Speaker 1: yeah you guys the pajamas are so good as.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Well they're so cute that was such a fun campaign
- 18:18Speaker 2: to shoot it was like a big family campaign our
- 18:20Speaker 2: first one we've done I've done a few shoots with
- 18:22Speaker 2: the kids but I had been involved and it was just,
- 18:26Speaker 2: but you know, the funny thing that like an image
- 18:29Speaker 2: you could never tell, but we were, it was, we
- 18:31Speaker 2: had to shoot it in the middle of winter in
- 18:33Speaker 2: July and Bambi, all my kids had like influenza A,
- 18:38Speaker 2: like if you have kids, you know, it's the worst
- 18:40Speaker 2: type of sickness they can have. They were so sick.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Bambi had just come out of it. So she was
- 18:44Speaker 2: like on the last day with more energy, but Navy
- 18:47Speaker 2: was on day one. Soul was on day one. I
- 18:50Speaker 2: had to dose these kids out with Panadol, Nurofen. You
- 18:53Speaker 2: can kind of tell in Navy's eyes. If you look
- 18:55Speaker 2: at the photos, like he's not well, it was not himself.
- 18:58Speaker 2: And like I told them that because we're going to
- 19:00Speaker 2: push it back a day. And they were like, do
- 19:02Speaker 2: you think they'll be sicker though if we push it
- 19:04Speaker 2: back a day? And thank God we didn't because this
- 19:05Speaker 2: lasted about eight days. They were so, so sick. But
- 19:09Speaker 2: I was just like, oh God, of course. Like what
- 19:12Speaker 2: are the chances? My kids are so sick on this
- 19:14Speaker 2: family shoot. And they're trying to make it fun. And
- 19:17Speaker 2: I'm there, like, counting the hours. Okay, only 20 more
- 19:20Speaker 2: minutes until they can have more Nurofen. It looked magical, though.
- 19:25Speaker 2: It was magical. I mean, at least it looked magical.
- 19:28Speaker 2: And they're all dosed up on panel on Nurofen. But
- 19:30Speaker 2: it was... It's tough shooting with kids. Like, you can't
- 19:34Speaker 2: really tell your kids, like, come on, just push through.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Come on, just like, just a few more photos, just
- 19:39Speaker 2: push through. You can do it. Like, I was trying
- 19:41Speaker 2: so hard. I had to Uber Eats bubble gum. And like,
- 19:44Speaker 2: I'm there holding up like, you know, that old school
- 19:46Speaker 2: bubble gum that's wrapped in a wheel and I'm holding
- 19:48Speaker 2: up showing Navy Bay. can have this, just keep bouncing
- 19:52Speaker 2: on the bed. Like you have to really have a
- 19:55Speaker 2: good photographer, which we did to be able to work
- 19:59Speaker 2: with kids because they don't obviously have the same stamina
- 20:01Speaker 2: as adults and you have to kind of like make
- 20:03Speaker 2: it fun and like not be too, serious on the
- 20:07Speaker 2: photo you want you just kind of have to roll
- 20:09Speaker 2: with the punches but it was really fun shooting with
- 20:11Speaker 2: Colin on the kids loved it and I want to
- 20:13Speaker 2: get the whole thing printed and framed and I want
- 20:16Speaker 2: to show it their 18th.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Have they been in store and seen all of the
- 20:22Speaker 1: cutouts and everything yeah they.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Actually have been in store I've been hasn't but I
- 20:26Speaker 2: got to take the kids oh no sorry I did
- 20:28Speaker 2: take the kids in they love seeing themselves it's so
- 20:31Speaker 2: funny they don't Navy kind of gets it, but he's
- 20:34Speaker 2: also like, why are my friends not on, on it?
- 20:36Speaker 2: And I was like, ah, well, that's a, that's an
- 20:39Speaker 2: interesting question. Um, Navy kind of gets it.
- 20:42Speaker 3: That's an answer for daddy's friends at work.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Yeah, right. Um, but yeah, it's, uh, it's crazy to
- 20:49Speaker 2: see their reactions when you take them in and they're
- 20:53Speaker 2: trying to like figure out why they're in the middle
- 20:55Speaker 2: of a shopping center, like the front, but no, he,
- 20:59Speaker 2: he's starting to understand what, I do kind of. He
- 21:02Speaker 2: thinks I record. I'm like, what do you mean I record?
- 21:06Speaker 2: I think he thinks the podcast is like my main thing,
- 21:08Speaker 2: which is cute.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I'm loving your podcast, by the way. And you've had
- 21:13Speaker 1: some pretty, well, I'd say controversial influences on the podcast,
- 21:17Speaker 1: but like really popular ones. Sophie Keisha, Sarah's Day. I mean,
- 21:22Speaker 1: Martha Califatita, she's, I don't know, she's kind of like
- 21:25Speaker 1: much loved. But what are they really like? Are they,
- 21:29Speaker 1: as they appear on YouTube?
- 21:30Speaker 2: So I didn't actually know who Sophie Keisha was before
- 21:34Speaker 2: I had her on the podcast. Like I had seen
- 21:36Speaker 2: her name bounce around, I guess, through you guys, but
- 21:39Speaker 2: I had no idea who she was. And I'm not
- 21:41Speaker 2: just saying that. I only got her wrong because a
- 21:44Speaker 2: friend through Chemist Warehouse was good friends with her. And
- 21:47Speaker 2: she was like, she's really good because she's a mum.
- 21:50Speaker 2: She was a mummy blogger. What I learned was that
- 21:53Speaker 2: she was one of the first with a mummy blog
- 21:57Speaker 2: or a blog before Instagram or something like that. And
- 21:59Speaker 2: that's how she got big. I know nothing about her controversies.
- 22:02Speaker 2: And that's the same with Sarah. It's so funny because...
- 22:06Speaker 2: see these things online and I know nothing about it
- 22:08Speaker 2: and I don't know if it's because I'm so deep
- 22:11Speaker 2: down in motherhood that I actually my windows are so
- 22:13Speaker 2: narrow and I'm just kind of like my work and
- 22:15Speaker 2: my kids are my focus or if I'm kind of
- 22:18Speaker 2: like that doesn't affect me I don't know because the
- 22:21Speaker 2: thing is I guess with influences like for me I
- 22:26Speaker 2: Everyone in my life annoys me, right? My mum, my sister,
- 22:28Speaker 2: my husband. Like, fuck, Ben pisses me off. Like, everyone, everyone,
- 22:32Speaker 2: everything everyone does is going to annoy you at one point.
- 22:35Speaker 2: You know, your values aren't going to align. And things
- 22:38Speaker 2: that Ben does, I don't agree with. Things he says
- 22:41Speaker 2: piss me off. But the thing with influencers, right, where
- 22:44Speaker 2: everything's out public and online, so... If I say something,
- 22:48Speaker 2: someone's going to pick it apart, create a controversy. There's
- 22:52Speaker 2: so many things I see influencers do. I'm like, fuck,
- 22:54Speaker 2: you are so annoying. And I get it. Like, I
- 22:58Speaker 2: get it because they're putting their life out online, but
- 23:00Speaker 2: I'm sure that everyone can relate. Their best friends are
- 23:03Speaker 2: so annoying. They're just lucky they don't put their life
- 23:05Speaker 2: out online to get picked apart. So maybe that's why
- 23:09Speaker 2: I don't see controversies because I don't. But of course,
- 23:12Speaker 2: if someone does a huge thing that's racist, homophobic, I
- 23:15Speaker 2: get it. cancel the motherfucker. But like, I don't see
- 23:19Speaker 2: the small controversies. Maybe it's because I know I'm just
- 23:22Speaker 2: as annoying and I just don't post that. And so
- 23:27Speaker 2: these girls like Sarah and Sophie, I don't know their controversies,
- 23:30Speaker 2: but in real life, I've known Sarah since she was,
- 23:32Speaker 2: I don't know how old she was, but since I
- 23:34Speaker 2: was 18 or 19, we met at fashion week. And
- 23:39Speaker 2: I remember her so well. She rocked up in her
- 23:41Speaker 2: leggings and her jumper and these big aviators. And I
- 23:45Speaker 2: was like, oh, my God, this girl is so random.
- 23:47Speaker 2: But I love that she just dresses how she wants
- 23:50Speaker 2: to dress. Like we're at Fashion Week and she's just
- 23:52Speaker 2: on brand. And, yes, I've known her for quite a while.
- 23:56Speaker 2: We haven't ever really caught up. We've caught up maybe once.
- 24:01Speaker 2: And I think she's great. I just think anyone with
- 24:05Speaker 2: kids and businesses and navigating– mum life, work life, and
- 24:12Speaker 2: fucking relationship life, like, I just think they're a boss,
- 24:15Speaker 2: and I do see, it's hard on social media, because
- 24:17Speaker 2: you get judged for anything you really do, and putting
- 24:19Speaker 2: your life out there is never easy, and I'm sure
- 24:22Speaker 2: there's some days they just want to, like, quit, because
- 24:24Speaker 2: they're always getting picked apart, but yeah, they were really,
- 24:28Speaker 2: they're cool girls, I admire mums, though, for starters, I
- 24:31Speaker 2: think mums are epic, like, even from the get-go, once
- 24:33Speaker 2: you're pregnant, you start sacrificing your life, I think they're amazing,
- 24:36Speaker 2: but Even more so they've got businesses and they've both
- 24:39Speaker 2: got books and e-books and this and that. I'm like,
- 24:42Speaker 2: how the hell do you have time? Like you guys,
- 24:44Speaker 2: like honestly, just trying to navigate mum life and you
- 24:47Speaker 2: throw in a business or two or three or however
- 24:50Speaker 2: many they have, I really do admire them and how
- 24:53Speaker 2: they can navigate that. I mean, I pretty much want
- 24:57Speaker 2: to throw the bloody toys out of the cot every
- 25:00Speaker 2: week and give up social media. I can't imagine how
- 25:02Speaker 2: they feel.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Well, that's the thing.
- 25:04Speaker 1: I think sometimes especially... some of these controversies and whatever,
- 25:08Speaker 1: they get blown up so much and people.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Forget that there are real people behind it.
- 25:13Speaker 1: And it, I mean, obviously our podcast, we focus on
- 25:17Speaker 1: like influencer controversies, but sometimes we're like, it's just fun.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Like it's, you know, it's like a funny controversy. Like
- 25:22Speaker 1: I think we spoke recently about what was it? The
- 25:25Speaker 1: Hawaiian coffee that Sarah's day had that was $ 9 or something.
- 25:28Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 25:29Speaker 1: And I suppose that's a good thing to remember, even
- 25:31Speaker 1: as a listener of our show for the listeners that,
- 25:34Speaker 1: Sometimes let's just have fun with it. Let's not attack
- 25:37Speaker 1: somebody completely.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Let's have a laugh about it.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I think around 2020, people got a little bit too picky.
- 25:43Speaker 3: And like we hold our hands up. We're included as well.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Some of the stories I look back that we reported on,
- 25:48Speaker 3: I'm like, everyone was angry at home. We were all
- 25:50Speaker 3: locked away. We were all angry.
- 25:53Speaker 2: We were stuck inside and seeing an influencer like post shit.
- 25:57Speaker 2: You're just like, shut the fuck up. You're so trans.
- 26:00Speaker 2: And I get it. I think the same all the time.
- 26:03Speaker 2: And that's why you're right. People need to stop taking
- 26:06Speaker 2: things so seriously because it's like your best friend would
- 26:10Speaker 2: complain about a $ 9 coffee too. I would complain. Like, well,
- 26:13Speaker 2: she's just an influencer that posts her life 24-7. So
- 26:18Speaker 2: she gives us a platform to look at her and
- 26:20Speaker 2: be like, oh, you're so annoying. But actually everyone does it.
- 26:23Speaker 2: We just show it online, which I guess are the
- 26:26Speaker 2: pros and cons of showing your life online, right? You're
- 26:28Speaker 2: open to criticism. But I think people are, they take
- 26:31Speaker 2: things too seriously. It needs to be more fun and
- 26:33Speaker 2: lighthearted and just like, you can find me annoying, that's fine.
- 26:37Speaker 2: But I probably find you just as annoying. But you
- 26:40Speaker 2: don't have a platform for me to comment on.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Yeah, that's so true. What about like platforms? Do you
- 26:45Speaker 1: delve much into, I mean, I don't even want to
- 26:48Speaker 1: name it, Tattle. Like that is a very toxic place.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Oh my God, it is toxic. And I got into
- 26:55Speaker 2: a really bad rhythm of, obsessing over it like I
- 26:59Speaker 2: love seeing what people say about me because I either
- 27:01Speaker 2: laugh or I cry like sometimes I want a reason
- 27:03Speaker 2: to cry like it's so bad for my mental health
- 27:06Speaker 2: and that is probably why I'm seeing a therapist but
- 27:09Speaker 2: no I was reading a lot into it and my
- 27:11Speaker 2: therapist has taught me he's like why like why and
- 27:15Speaker 2: I'm like I don't know because I just kind of
- 27:17Speaker 2: want to see what people are saying he's like why
- 27:18Speaker 2: you can't control it and are you going to change
- 27:20Speaker 2: for them and I was like no he goes okay
- 27:22Speaker 2: so what's your purpose of reading I'm like I don't
- 27:24Speaker 2: know I probably feel shit about myself I guess And
- 27:27Speaker 2: he was like, you need to stop reading this because
- 27:29Speaker 2: it's really not, if it's not benefiting your life or
- 27:32Speaker 2: yourself or your family, like what, who cares what other
- 27:35Speaker 2: people's opinions say? Like you haven't cared for years. Why
- 27:38Speaker 2: are you? I'm like, it's not that I care. He's like, well,
- 27:40Speaker 2: you do. I'm like, okay, you're right. I got to
- 27:42Speaker 2: stop reading it. And I, I do think it was
- 27:45Speaker 2: subconsciously having a negative impact on my mental health because
- 27:49Speaker 2: I You know, I'd wake up grumpy one morning and
- 27:52Speaker 2: I didn't really have a reason why I was grumpy.
- 27:54Speaker 2: I wasn't tired. I should be happy. But I was like,
- 27:56Speaker 2: I do think it's eating away at me. Or I
- 27:58Speaker 2: always had stomach pain. I'm like, why are these people
- 28:00Speaker 2: saying this? Like, it's just so... What I hate about
- 28:03Speaker 2: these forums is that they're faceless. And they would never
- 28:07Speaker 2: say it to your face. And they can literally just
- 28:10Speaker 2: make up something from their asshole. Like they can literally
- 28:13Speaker 2: just pull something out, make it up, say whatever they want.
- 28:16Speaker 2: And then Daily Mail runs an article. And I'm like,
- 28:19Speaker 2: that is not true. Why are you listening to these people?
- 28:22Speaker 2: And that's what annoys me because a lot of these
- 28:24Speaker 2: media outlets now find their next, you know, what they're
- 28:29Speaker 2: next going to write about Indy Clinton on forums. And
- 28:32Speaker 2: I'm like, this is so stupid. Why are they doing this?
- 28:35Speaker 1: What's the wildest thing that you've read or even, like,
- 28:37Speaker 1: the funniest thing that you're like, that is so far
- 28:39Speaker 1: from the truth?
- 28:40Speaker 2: Okay, this is just wild and, like, so stupid to
- 28:44Speaker 2: speculate on someone's ethnicity. But on one of those forums
- 28:48Speaker 2: they were saying how Ben's definitely Indigenous and And I'm
- 28:52Speaker 2: hiding it because I'm ashamed. And I'm like, what the fuck?
- 28:56Speaker 2: I'm like, that could not be further from the truth.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Number one, I would never be ashamed of that. I
- 29:02Speaker 2: say to him, let's go get all your fucking ancestry.com done.
- 29:06Speaker 2: I want to see what you're made of, baby. He's Lebanese.
- 29:10Speaker 2: But I'm also like, why do I even have to
- 29:12Speaker 2: explain that? Why would I ever be ashamed of ethnicity?
- 29:15Speaker 2: And where are you pulling this from? For starters, like,
- 29:18Speaker 2: it's just such a wild and like, These are the
- 29:21Speaker 2: things people make up. I'm like, you are so delusional.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Where did you just pull that from? Literally. Like, I
- 29:26Speaker 2: have no idea. They even named a specific group that
- 29:30Speaker 2: he would be from based off where he grew up. What?
- 29:33Speaker 2: And I'm like, you are just actually delusional. And that was,
- 29:37Speaker 2: that for me was a turning point because I was like,
- 29:40Speaker 2: holy shit, people really do just make mistakes. things up
- 29:44Speaker 2: from their mind like how creative they just like having
- 29:48Speaker 2: a shit day how creative can they get they smoke
- 29:50Speaker 2: a joint and they just make something up yeah.
- 29:53Speaker 1: It must be frustrating as well because it's not like
- 29:55Speaker 1: you can go on there and defend yourself and if
- 29:56Speaker 1: you were to make a video then it kind of
- 29:58Speaker 1: feeds into the like the toxic nature of it as
- 30:01Speaker 1: well Totally.
- 30:02Speaker 2: And that's my hardest thing I find on social media
- 30:05Speaker 2: is never sticking up for myself because you're always told,
- 30:08Speaker 2: I have always been taught. I've been in this game
- 30:10Speaker 2: for 11 years and from every management I've had, I've
- 30:13Speaker 2: always been taught not to, you know, it'll just blow over.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Never talk on anything ever, ever. Just be quiet, be quiet.
- 30:19Speaker 2: And that's why going back to Ben's work colleagues doing this,
- 30:23Speaker 2: I'm like, why do I have to be quiet for once?
- 30:25Speaker 2: Like I've been quiet my whole life on everything. Why
- 30:28Speaker 2: do I have to be quiet about this? Like we're
- 30:30Speaker 2: just out here doing our own thing and you guys
- 30:32Speaker 2: still want to drag. Like I need to put you
- 30:34Speaker 2: guys into your place because otherwise it's not going to
- 30:37Speaker 2: blow over this thing. It's just like a bullying mentality.
- 30:40Speaker 2: And I do think these forums have this bullying mentality too.
- 30:43Speaker 2: It's like, what's the last straw for you guys? I mean,
- 30:46Speaker 2: do you want an influencer to take their own life?
- 30:48Speaker 2: Is that when you guys stop bullying and being faceless
- 30:52Speaker 2: behind a screen, it's so crazy, this bullying culture. And
- 30:54Speaker 2: I see it so much, not just about myself and
- 30:57Speaker 2: That's why a lot of these forums are so, so
- 31:00Speaker 2: toxic and why you can't read them because in the
- 31:04Speaker 2: end it's only affecting your mental health. Like, they don't care.
- 31:06Speaker 2: They're sitting at home. They're unhappy. They're probably not getting
- 31:09Speaker 2: any love. They're having shit time at work. Like, they
- 31:12Speaker 2: want you to feel that. And I've kind of come
- 31:15Speaker 2: to terms with that. And I'm like, I can't. This
- 31:17Speaker 2: toxic energy is going to give me either IBS. Or
- 31:20Speaker 2: I'm just going to have like constant insomnia because I
- 31:23Speaker 2: want to fucking check Tattle, which I should not be checking.
- 31:27Speaker 1: It's so strange to me because I feel like you're
- 31:28Speaker 1: such a much loved influencer that I didn't even know
- 31:32Speaker 1: you had a Tattle thread. I've actually, I mean, I've
- 31:34Speaker 1: blocked Tattle from my computer and we had to block
- 31:37Speaker 1: it on Sophie, who's not here, her phone, because there
- 31:39Speaker 1: is just this intrigued.
- 31:41Speaker 3: You can't explain it. It's a defensive thing.
- 31:43Speaker 1: I think you're like, you want to know if there's
- 31:45Speaker 1: something out there about you, you want to know what
- 31:46Speaker 1: people are saying.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Totally. And you kind of want to control the narrative,
- 31:51Speaker 2: but then I'm also like, it's an uncontrollable narrative when
- 31:54Speaker 2: it's made up or it's just based off like zero facts.
- 31:58Speaker 2: But it's, it's sad because, you know, there's this tattle
- 32:02Speaker 2: and there's tea time. Like I just, They're all, I find,
- 32:06Speaker 2: a little bit toxic. In the way I saw recently
- 32:10Speaker 2: somebody posted about Ben's ex-girlfriend, photos of her in the
- 32:15Speaker 2: house or sitting on the same furniture. And then there's
- 32:18Speaker 2: just all these comments like, oh my god, how embarrassing
- 32:20Speaker 2: that she kept the same furniture. How could you live
- 32:23Speaker 2: with yourself? And I'm like, what the fuck? Like, this
- 32:27Speaker 2: is literally, this was literally Ben's house. Why would I
- 32:30Speaker 2: come in as a girlfriend and be like, okay, sell
- 32:32Speaker 2: all of your furniture because your ex-girlfriend has sat her
- 32:35Speaker 2: bum on it. I need it. So like, I'm like,
- 32:38Speaker 2: this is crazy. Like, why would I make him do that? Like,
- 32:41Speaker 2: I don't really care if we have the same dining
- 32:43Speaker 2: chairs around.
- 32:44Speaker 3: The table that were here four years ago.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Like that was a house then I've created a home.
- 32:49Speaker 2: I've had, you know, there's kids in this home now
- 32:52Speaker 2: there's new couches with textures all over it. Like, I'm
- 32:55Speaker 2: just kind of like, you guys either are not parents
- 32:59Speaker 2: or I don't know what's going on because you guys
- 33:01Speaker 2: are picking apart the smallest things. Like why? And I'm
- 33:05Speaker 2: just kind of like, you guys, there's more to life
- 33:08Speaker 2: as if I'm going to be this crazy girlfriend that
- 33:10Speaker 2: walks into this house being like, you better get rid
- 33:12Speaker 2: of all the furniture because your ex-girlfriend has sat her
- 33:14Speaker 2: bum on it. Like, What they don't see, I see that.
- 33:18Speaker 2: And then Ben kind of knew it triggered me a
- 33:21Speaker 2: little bit because I started being like, okay, like, I
- 33:24Speaker 2: want to change it all. Even though I know deep down,
- 33:27Speaker 2: you know, I've had kids. I've made it a home.
- 33:30Speaker 2: I've made it so loving, full of love. And I've
- 33:33Speaker 2: bought new couches and now they're covered in texture. But
- 33:36Speaker 2: even like explaining myself, I was like, why am I
- 33:39Speaker 2: letting these people affect me? I know... what I've done
- 33:42Speaker 2: to create a home. Why do I let the opinions
- 33:46Speaker 2: of these people like really eat up inside of me?
- 33:49Speaker 2: And Ben's like, okay, this is, do you want it?
- 33:51Speaker 2: We can make a change. We can get, I can
- 33:53Speaker 2: literally put the dining tables out on the street tomorrow
- 33:55Speaker 2: and you can buy new ones. And I'm like, no,
- 33:58Speaker 2: I don't even know why I care. I think because
- 34:00Speaker 2: then I see the pile on of people and I'm like,
- 34:03Speaker 2: oh my God, am I that delusional that I actually
- 34:05Speaker 2: haven't seen this this whole time? And it's so obvious.
- 34:08Speaker 2: There's almost 200 comments and they're all saying the same thing.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Look, I'm sorry.
- 34:12Speaker 1: They're delusional. For example, my husband, he was engaged before
- 34:16Speaker 1: we got together. And I use all of the beautiful
- 34:20Speaker 1: serving boards that he and his fiance got given at
- 34:23Speaker 1: their engagement party.
- 34:24Speaker 2: I'm like.
- 34:24Speaker 1: fantastic like let's bring it out this is great if
- 34:27Speaker 1: you got rid of everything indy i'm sure that they
- 34:29Speaker 1: would have been like can you believe she couldn't stand
- 34:31Speaker 1: having the ex-girlfriend's furniture in the house how wasteful to
- 34:34Speaker 1: you know like you can't win it's.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Like you can never win in this instance and to
- 34:39Speaker 2: me i'm like that's not really important to me like
- 34:42Speaker 2: i've like having some chairs and tables and things around
- 34:45Speaker 2: that she was here. That's not, I don't really care.
- 34:48Speaker 2: I'm not petty like that. Like I would much rather
- 34:51Speaker 2: create a home and a safe home and baby proof.
- 34:54Speaker 2: The home, as you guys know, is very important. I
- 34:56Speaker 2: removed the cactuses and things out that were going to
- 34:59Speaker 2: hurt the kids. But like, that's important to me. Like
- 35:01Speaker 2: creating love and safety in a home is way more important.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Like I really could not care less about, you know,
- 35:07Speaker 2: I would actually be more grateful if she left a
- 35:09Speaker 2: few of her things, some hair straighteners and stuff that
- 35:11Speaker 2: I could really use.
- 35:23Speaker 1: This is of course a Christmas episode and we haven't
- 35:25Speaker 1: even touched on Christmas bar, the cotton on commercial that
- 35:28Speaker 1: your husband's colleagues were insanely jealous about. But, um, I
- 35:32Speaker 1: already know that you're a huge Christmas lover because you
- 35:35Speaker 1: used to have a real Christmas tree until recently.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Why the change?
- 35:40Speaker 2: Do you know what? It was too much upkeep. I'm
- 35:42Speaker 2: so lazy like that. I'm like, okay, I've got the kids.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I've got the dogs and I have a molting dog.
- 35:47Speaker 2: I do not need a molting Christmas tree now. And
- 35:50Speaker 2: it was one of those things. I love the smell
- 35:52Speaker 2: of real Christmas trees. I loved going to this lady's
- 35:56Speaker 2: house out. near the country and cutting it down myself.
- 35:59Speaker 2: She gave me a chainsaw. Like I got to pick
- 36:01Speaker 2: the tree. I remember taking maybe last year, um, or
- 36:04Speaker 2: not last year, the year before last. And we cut
- 36:06Speaker 2: it down. It was so much fun. But also the
- 36:09Speaker 2: reason why I did a change is because I want
- 36:11Speaker 2: Christmas to start in November. Like I'm not putting up
- 36:14Speaker 2: this Christmas tree in December and know that my tree
- 36:17Speaker 2: won't die in three weeks. Cause that's the thing with
- 36:19Speaker 2: real Christmas trees. Like they die, they die quickly. They
- 36:23Speaker 2: smell good for a hot minute, but they die very quickly.
- 36:25Speaker 2: So I've invested in this epic, like, two-meter-tall fake one.
- 36:30Speaker 2: And then I've also bought pine tree-smelling candles. Are they
- 36:34Speaker 2: pine trees? Is that what they are? Yeah, pine tree-smelling candles.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Yes, that's so important to have those candles because, yeah,
- 36:39Speaker 1: it's a balsam hill tree.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Yes, I think it is. They're amazing.
- 36:45Speaker 3: I've just done the same thing. I've always had a
- 36:46Speaker 3: real Christmas tree.
- 36:47Speaker 1: This year I bought a balsam hill because I wanted
- 36:49Speaker 1: to put it up in November too.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Yours is up right now actually.
- 36:52Speaker 1: It is, but it was just to see if I
- 36:54Speaker 1: got the right height for the room.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Balsam hill, they're great. Honestly, this Christmas tree
- 37:00Speaker 2: is incredible. It looks so real as well.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Last year you actually, I remember, organised these beautiful personalised stockings.
- 37:07Speaker 3: And then it caused a massive stir.
- 37:10Speaker 2: That's right. I mean, that was weird. I mean, it
- 37:12Speaker 2: wasn't weird. So I just randomly, I love Etsy, right?
- 37:16Speaker 2: I mean, I order a lot of things from Etsy.
- 37:18Speaker 2: I just order these incredible rugs that took so long
- 37:21Speaker 2: to be handmade in Morocco, but like I found them
- 37:23Speaker 2: on Etsy and I love supporting the small businesses on there.
- 37:26Speaker 2: So I knew if I just found a random small
- 37:29Speaker 2: business on Etsy that could make these beautiful little Santa sacks,
- 37:32Speaker 2: they were not going to know who I am. Of course,
- 37:34Speaker 2: the message. I, like, placed the order, and I knew
- 37:37Speaker 2: Sol's name. We knew Sol's name was going to be
- 37:38Speaker 2: Sol from the get-go. So I placed this order, and
- 37:42Speaker 2: then I get a message back, oh, my God, Indy,
- 37:44Speaker 2: I'm a huge fan. I can't believe you placed this order.
- 37:47Speaker 2: I promise I'm going to keep this name a secret.
- 37:49Speaker 2: But then she really leveraged off it, right? And she's like, like,
- 37:53Speaker 2: I remember seeing things being like, I know Indy Clinton's
- 37:56Speaker 2: baby's name. And, like, she was, I get it. I
- 37:58Speaker 2: guess she was trying to monetize from it. And I get,
- 38:00Speaker 2: I loved. that she was hustling like that. But I
- 38:02Speaker 2: was also like, wait, please do not say anything. Like,
- 38:06Speaker 2: I don't know you, but like have my back through,
- 38:09Speaker 2: let's just kind of communicate through the air that like,
- 38:11Speaker 2: you're not going to say anything, please. And then I
- 38:14Speaker 2: saw that huge stir because she posted something like she
- 38:17Speaker 2: was very good at getting onto the marketing train and
- 38:21Speaker 2: leveraging from that. Like, I don't know who trained her
- 38:23Speaker 2: in media, but she nailed that. Didn't she?
- 38:26Speaker 1: Yeah, Cause she ended up sharing a name that it
- 38:30Speaker 1: wasn't Sol's name, but it was another S name and
- 38:32Speaker 1: it like fit all the clues and everyone's like, Oh
- 38:34Speaker 1: my gosh. She kind of had your back though.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Cause she put a bit of a red herring out there.
- 38:39Speaker 2: That's true. And you know what? She's messaged me. She
- 38:42Speaker 2: sent me, she said I completely changed her business. Like
- 38:46Speaker 2: she said, I sold out cause she sent me a
- 38:48Speaker 2: jumper a few months ago with sleep deprived on it.
- 38:50Speaker 2: And she was like, I just want to say thank you.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Like you completely changed my business. Like you sold me out,
- 38:57Speaker 2: but you also made me so much money that I
- 38:59Speaker 2: could buy another sewing machine and another this. And now
- 39:01Speaker 2: I can elevate my business and another this, another that. Exactly.
- 39:06Speaker 2: And I was like, wow. Well, you kind of did
- 39:08Speaker 2: it for yourself because you were really fishing with my name,
- 39:11Speaker 2: weren't you? So you should be doing it for yourself.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Look at you just supporting small businesses and just.
- 39:18Speaker 2: I love supporting small businesses. I'm like, wow, you are so,
- 39:21Speaker 2: I wish I could be you. Like I, I support
- 39:24Speaker 2: the hustle. I mean, especially, and then especially mums. I just,
- 39:29Speaker 2: I have this thing. for mums because now I'm in it.
- 39:31Speaker 2: I know how hard it is. And so whenever I
- 39:34Speaker 2: see a mum on the street or a mum hustling
- 39:35Speaker 2: with a small business or a side business, I'm like,
- 39:37Speaker 2: of course, have my money, take my money. I support you.
- 39:42Speaker 3: Exploit my name and whatnot for.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Yours use my name run me through the dirt I
- 39:47Speaker 2: will support you this is what my self-development is teaching.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Me I would really love to do a quick Christmas
- 39:54Speaker 1: quiz before we go with you and it's basically we've
- 39:57Speaker 1: got ourselves in hot water before for giving opinions based
- 40:00Speaker 1: on Christmas food and Easter food anyway so I kind
- 40:03Speaker 1: of want to hear yours you know those tiers on
- 40:05Speaker 1: the internet that are like god tier mid-tier and meh
- 40:09Speaker 1: I don't know if you've seen those.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Maybe I'm too old.
- 40:12Speaker 3: No, you're definitely not.
- 40:14Speaker 2: We've seen them, so you're definitely not.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Maybe you're too young. Yeah, true.
- 40:18Speaker 2: God tears the best and then you tear it and
- 40:20Speaker 2: then meh.
- 40:21Speaker 1: You tear it like good and yeah. So pavlova, where
- 40:25Speaker 1: does that sit?
- 40:27Speaker 2: I personally think pavlova's meh. I only like the fresh
- 40:31Speaker 2: fruit on it because it's too sweet, the white meringue.
- 40:34Speaker 2: I hate meringue. I think meringue is like just as
- 40:37Speaker 2: meh as lemon tart, so like meh. It kind of
- 40:40Speaker 2: smells like egg too. Oh, it smells like egg. Like
- 40:43Speaker 2: the best thing about it is like either the passion
- 40:45Speaker 2: fruit pulp or the fresh mango on it. But like
- 40:47Speaker 2: just give me that in a bowl and I'll be happy.
- 40:49Speaker 1: That surprises me, being like a beachy sort of Christmas person.
- 40:53Speaker 2: I know. I do want to like it, but just
- 40:56Speaker 2: like actually just give me a block of Cadbury chocolate
- 40:58Speaker 2: instead and I'll be happy.
- 41:00Speaker 3: What about pudding then?
- 41:02Speaker 2: No, pudding. Yuck. Meh. Actually makes me want to vomit.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Ben told me that that is all he has had.
- 41:09Speaker 2: His grandma makes Christmas pudding like date pudding in July
- 41:13Speaker 2: and freezes it until Christmas or something. And I'm like,
- 41:17Speaker 2: you've got to be kidding me. And a few years
- 41:19Speaker 2: ago she wanted to give us some. And I was like,
- 41:21Speaker 2: we're not taking that. Sorry. Thank you. I appreciate the effort.
- 41:27Speaker 2: We're not having that pudding in our fridge. I'm not
- 41:29Speaker 2: eating it. I just think it's too sweet. I'm not.
- 41:31Speaker 2: One second. You're going to eat it if you are.
- 41:34Speaker 2: I just think for me pudding is just way too sweet.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Like I can have one date that you cannot. put
- 41:40Speaker 2: a pudding of dates into my mouth.
- 41:41Speaker 1: See, I bet Ben's grandma, she would have put coins
- 41:44Speaker 1: in the pudding. Like, I don't know if you've heard
- 41:46Speaker 1: of that because I spoke about it recently to someone else.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Because our grandma used to put money in the pudding.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Oh, well, give me some more pudding then. I'm going
- 41:53Speaker 2: to have to go to her house and get it
- 41:54Speaker 2: out of the freezer. Yeah.
- 41:56Speaker 1: So, like, I think we've all been classically conditioned to
- 41:59Speaker 1: like pudding just because of the cash.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Well, if someone told me there was money in it,
- 42:03Speaker 2: I definitely would have eaten it.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Yeah. One of our aunties, she was rich and she
- 42:06Speaker 1: used to put gold coins and we were like, oh,
- 42:07Speaker 1: my God.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Well, she didn't put them in.
- 42:08Speaker 1: She didn't bake them in because I think you can
- 42:10Speaker 1: really poison yourself. So it was, like, on the side
- 42:12Speaker 1: of the bowl.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Yeah.
- 42:15Speaker 3: That's so epic.
- 42:17Speaker 1: What Christmas dessert do you like then?
- 42:19Speaker 3: What's God tier for you?
- 42:21Speaker 2: So I don't think this is very Christmassy, but I
- 42:23Speaker 2: love tiramisu. Tiramisu is like my jam. Serve me a
- 42:28Speaker 2: tiramisu on a reindeer and I will eat the whole thing.
- 42:31Speaker 2: I love tiramisu, but that's probably not Christmassy. If it
- 42:34Speaker 2: was me, though, I would much rather fill up on
- 42:37Speaker 2: all of the ham. I'm new to eating ham, but
- 42:40Speaker 2: I really love it now. Ham and prawns, oysters, seafood.
- 42:46Speaker 2: That's what I want to fill up on. And then
- 42:47Speaker 2: I'll just kind of like make, I actually just want
- 42:50Speaker 2: to eat margaritas and champagne. That's where I would find
- 42:53Speaker 2: most of my calories. Like I want to be the
- 42:55Speaker 2: drunk auntie on Christmas day because last year I had mastitis,
- 42:58Speaker 2: so I couldn't be drunk. I was on antibiotics. So
- 43:01Speaker 2: then I kind of just want to roll into some
- 43:03Speaker 2: fresh fruit and maybe just into some Cadbury chocolate. Like
- 43:06Speaker 2: that's how basic I am. I am very basic when
- 43:09Speaker 2: it comes to eating. I'm a really simple eater. I
- 43:11Speaker 2: don't like sauces.
- 43:13Speaker 3: Let's be honest.
- 43:13Speaker 1: I mean, that sounds way better than like Christmas pudding,
- 43:16Speaker 1: just Cadbury chocolate.
- 43:17Speaker 2: I agree. Just give me some, or even just like Toblerone.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Like I just love, if I'm going to fill up,
- 43:23Speaker 2: that's what I want to fill up on. Like followed
- 43:25Speaker 2: by a peppermint tea to wash everything down into an
- 43:29Speaker 2: afternoon swim. Like honestly, Christmas day. I'm so excited.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Well, we hope you have the most amazing Christmas. And
- 43:37Speaker 1: I look forward to seeing your balsam hill tree up
- 43:39Speaker 1: in November.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Oh, my God, I know. We're going to compare. I'm
- 43:42Speaker 2: going to set mine up in November, so I'll take
- 43:43Speaker 2: photos and send it to you.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Yes, please do.
- 43:46Speaker 2: I'd love to see it. We'll see whose is bigger.
- 43:48Speaker 3: I think yours is. Mine's like, oh, actually, maybe not.
- 43:51Speaker 1: I think mine's two metres too, so we'll get the
- 43:53Speaker 1: measuring tapes out.
- 43:53Speaker 3: Get your measuring tape.
- 43:57Speaker 2: Thank you, guys. Thank you. I'll catch you soon.
- 44:00Speaker 1: We hope you enjoyed our chat with Indy Clinton. Don't
- 44:03Speaker 1: forget to follow her if you're not already. Now, in
- 44:05Speaker 1: tomorrow's episode of Outspoken Plus, we will be dropping more
