- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to kf I am six forty the Bill
- 0:03Speaker 1: Handles show on demand on the iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Apps and now handle on the news.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Ladies and gentlemen, here's Bill Handle. All right, good morning.
- 0:25Speaker 3: It is a Thursday morning.
- 0:28Speaker 4: May the seventh, May the seventh be with you. No, no, no,
- 0:36Speaker 4: I got that raw.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Okay, it's May seventh. Good morning everybody, all right, Amy,
- 0:45Speaker 3: good morning, Hi, Bill and Neil. There you are. Good morning,
- 0:50Speaker 3: sir Will Cole Schreiber. Will is doing a great impression
- 0:57Speaker 3: of Helen Keller on because his microphone is early not on.
- 1:00Speaker 3: There I am good morning. Okay, there you are, and
- 1:03Speaker 3: there is and good morning, good morning. And I have
- 1:08Speaker 3: a hard time I'm not seeing who's at the board
- 1:11Speaker 3: because Mario Mario. Hey Mario. Have we worked together before? Hello? Hello,
- 1:17Speaker 3: good morning Bill. No, we have not. Wow, So who
- 1:20Speaker 3: are you? Well? I am Mario, as Neil also recognized. Okay,
- 1:26Speaker 3: that was more. That was a more general question. Who
- 1:30Speaker 3: are you in connection to this radio station? Well, I
- 1:34Speaker 3: have been here almost a year now. Wow. I had
- 1:37Speaker 3: no idea.
- 1:38Speaker 5: I know right, it's my board up for for Saturday.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I had no idea. I'm pretty I'm pretty forgettable being
- 1:46Speaker 3: on the morning show.
- 1:47Speaker 5: Yeah, it's another Mexican in a baseball hat and a hoodie.
- 1:50Speaker 5: It's no set a lot of that. We get a
- 1:53Speaker 5: lot of that.
- 1:54Speaker 3: So, Mario, I didn't I didn't have a chance to
- 1:56Speaker 3: meet you, say hello and tell you you're not going to
- 1:59Speaker 3: be here next week. You'll last about a week, as
- 2:01Speaker 3: I do with everybody else. Sounds about right. Yeah, they
- 2:03Speaker 3: took it away from me for some reason. I don't
- 2:05Speaker 3: do that. Yeah, you know what else you don't do? What? Mute? Oh?
- 2:13Speaker 3: There you go. You're right, Okay, Mario, here's the way
- 2:15Speaker 3: it works, all right, because I forget. Hold on, let
- 2:18Speaker 3: me mute here, Mario, I forget to mute a lot,
- 2:21Speaker 3: because I don't quite understand how this works. And I
- 2:25Speaker 3: have a mute button where I am, and you know
- 2:27Speaker 3: I'm not in studio. I am far far away as
- 2:30Speaker 3: Neil is, far far away as Amy, and will have
- 2:37Speaker 3: to be there unfortunately for you guys. So what you
- 2:40Speaker 3: have to tell me if I am if I'm needed
- 2:43Speaker 3: to mute just before I go on the air, coming
- 2:46Speaker 3: back from a commercial or starting another segment. Okay, you
- 2:49Speaker 3: got a bill? Okay, God, I like that attitude. I
- 2:53Speaker 3: really do. It'll fade that. It always does, your excellency
- 2:57Speaker 3: works or a lot of that. Yeah, okay, yes, exactly,
- 3:07Speaker 3: all right, Amy, you had said earlier, I was listening
- 3:10Speaker 3: to bits and pieces as I was preparing the show
- 3:14Speaker 3: and asking whether or not I had watched either of
- 3:18Speaker 3: the debates, either the gubernatorial or the mayoral debate, and
- 3:22Speaker 3: you questioned it, right, yes, okay, Well what do you
- 3:27Speaker 3: think if you had to.
- 3:27Speaker 6: Guess, I think that you did not watch.
- 3:31Speaker 3: That is absolutely correct. Now, I have certainly looked at it,
- 3:36Speaker 3: and I have read it and bits and pieces, so
- 3:39Speaker 3: I sort of know what's going on. But more importantly,
- 3:42Speaker 3: I sort of don't care. As I've said many times
- 3:46Speaker 3: this time around.
- 3:47Speaker 6: Why do you not care? These are the people who
- 3:49Speaker 6: are going to lead our state and the city of La.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Well, because much more than Trump will. Yeah, because the
- 3:55Speaker 3: state of California and the city of LA cannot be
- 3:59Speaker 3: led ungoverned. And I'm like many people, and I never
- 4:03Speaker 3: thought I would reach this point. I am so totally
- 4:06Speaker 3: disgusted with politics that I actually pulled back, which is
- 4:10Speaker 3: horrific for someone who is involved with the morning talk show.
- 4:14Speaker 3: It's it's actually a shame not that I care, but
- 4:17Speaker 3: it's actually a shame and so much shame on this
- 4:21Speaker 3: morning show. Well there's always shame. Shame sh Well, yeah, no,
- 4:25Speaker 3: you say, don't point to no, don't point to me
- 4:28Speaker 3: and say shame. You point to me and you say guilt. Guilt. Guilt.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Shame is for Catholics.
- 4:36Speaker 5: But the good thing is you move. Guilt is for Jews.
- 4:38Speaker 5: What you pick things up. You moved to Orange County
- 4:41Speaker 5: and live in a very nice area. You don't have
- 4:44Speaker 5: to worry about LA politics.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Well, I certainly do. No, I still have to worry
- 4:47Speaker 3: about LA politics. I do.
- 4:49Speaker 4: I do.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I grew up in Los Angeles. I came to LA
- 4:52Speaker 3: when I was five years old. Been in LA most
- 4:55Speaker 3: of my life. A few stands here and there where
- 4:58Speaker 3: I lived on the West Side and went to CA
- 5:00Speaker 3: for a year and a half to go to school.
- 5:01Speaker 3: But for the most part there I am. What was
- 5:06Speaker 3: the timing, I don't know. It was just I wanted
- 5:10Speaker 3: to see Canada during the late sixties.
- 5:14Speaker 6: You know.
- 5:14Speaker 3: I don't know the names of people, but there were
- 5:16Speaker 3: a few. There was quite an interesting start with Americans
- 5:19Speaker 3: p and ends with a ussy nicely said no, no anyway,
- 5:26Speaker 3: for the most part. My sojourn has been in LA
- 5:30Speaker 3: for the most part, so I'm generally interested. But I
- 5:32Speaker 3: got to am I the only one? I mean, Amy,
- 5:35Speaker 3: you still are on top of this, Because you still
- 5:38Speaker 3: are on top of this. This is certainly your wheelhouse
- 5:41Speaker 3: looking at these campaigns. And do you before we get
- 5:45Speaker 3: to the news, do you feel bad that you are
- 5:51Speaker 3: not allowed to jump in and give your opinion as
- 5:55Speaker 3: to what the political flavor is and tell people what
- 5:58Speaker 3: you believe in and which it happened, because you, I mean,
- 6:01Speaker 3: you report on what it is, but you can't throw
- 6:04Speaker 3: in your opinion. I have no idea who you had
- 6:07Speaker 3: to vote for. I know who Neil's going to vote for.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I certainly know who Ann is going to vote for.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:14Speaker 6: Still, no, it's fine.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I'm just used to it, Okay.
- 6:19Speaker 6: Yeah, I try. I try not to take sides as
- 6:22Speaker 6: much as possible, and I see, you know, good and
- 6:25Speaker 6: bad on both sides.
- 6:27Speaker 3: So yeah, euro was okay, thank you very much, totally
- 6:33Speaker 3: there you are. Last night I was at an event.
- 6:35Speaker 3: I was speaking at an event in the deepest, darkest
- 6:38Speaker 3: of Orange County, and there were people there and a
- 6:42Speaker 3: fair number had been listening to me This show for
- 6:45Speaker 3: over thirty years, and we went back in time and
- 6:49Speaker 3: a few of us got into a political discussion. Man,
- 6:53Speaker 3: it was egg shell walking time for sure. Yeah, Bill,
- 7:00Speaker 3: you are so conservative. Bill, you are so liberal, you know,
- 7:05Speaker 3: and you've gotten so liberal it's just ridiculous to go No,
- 7:09Speaker 3: not really, it's not the same anyway. So I was
- 7:13Speaker 3: at this event, so I just wanted to point that out.
- 7:16Speaker 3: It's a good excuse to say I actually didn't listen
- 7:19Speaker 3: to the debate, but obviously following up on what's happening,
- 7:23Speaker 3: and then we'll have that Amy jump in. So let's
- 7:26Speaker 3: do it. Okay, guys sign for handle on the news
- 7:30Speaker 3: with Amy Neil and me lead Starry nitya raman noodle
- 7:35Speaker 3: traded all kinds of barbs and Amy. Do you think
- 7:41Speaker 3: that this round of politicizing both the governor and the
- 7:46Speaker 3: mayor's race are particularly pointed and mudslinging more so than
- 7:52Speaker 3: usual or is it right in line with the way
- 7:54Speaker 3: it normally runs.
- 7:55Speaker 6: I think it's more in line with how it runs.
- 7:58Speaker 6: I think the difference this time is that they keep
- 8:01Speaker 6: bringing up Trump. Normally, when you're talking about a governor's race,
- 8:05Speaker 6: you're talking about the state and not so much in
- 8:09Speaker 6: the in the mayor's race, but in the governor's debates,
- 8:12Speaker 6: Trump keeps coming up, and a couple of them have
- 8:15Speaker 6: called the candidates out and said, this isn't about Trump.
- 8:19Speaker 6: So that's the interesting thing is that they're taking it
- 8:22Speaker 6: up to you know, the national.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Lawkay, fair enough, And by the way, it is all
- 8:25Speaker 3: about Trump across the board. I mean, if you look
- 8:29Speaker 3: at the state races in Ohio and Illinois, I mean,
- 8:33Speaker 3: who would ever pay attention to state races in Illinois
- 8:37Speaker 3: or Ohio? I mean, I don't know who's running for
- 8:39Speaker 3: state assembly. Everybody was looking and those who follow Donald
- 8:45Speaker 3: Trump or Donald Trump himself won overwhelmingly, showing he still
- 8:50Speaker 3: has enormous power and controls the Republican Party unlike unlike
- 8:56Speaker 3: many many well, unlike any presidential candidate I've ever seen,
- 9:01Speaker 3: unlike any president I've ever seen in terms of control.
- 9:03Speaker 3: So we'll talk more about the mayoral race the debate
- 9:07Speaker 3: last night later on, and now, Amy, let's go to
- 9:10Speaker 3: the governor's race.
- 9:12Speaker 6: Okay, Yeah, let's do that, which we were just talking
- 9:15Speaker 6: about that a little bit. They talked about affordability and
- 9:18Speaker 6: sanctuary policies. There's a lot of that and whether certain
- 9:22Speaker 6: candidates had the experience needed. And of course the moderators
- 9:26Speaker 6: warned them not to get into a food fight, but
- 9:30Speaker 6: they didn't waste any time going after each other. And
- 9:33Speaker 6: San Jose mayor Matt Mayheon went right after the Republicans,
- 9:37Speaker 6: saying we don't need the leadership that mega candidates on
- 9:40Speaker 6: the stage are offering. There again bringing up the president,
- 9:44Speaker 6: and then he went after Steyer, who's Democrat, and said
- 9:48Speaker 6: we don't need the leadership of a billionaire who's now
- 9:50Speaker 6: against almost everything that he's made his money on.
- 9:54Speaker 3: So there was anything out of it. I don't think
- 9:56Speaker 3: the needle moved at all. I mean, California is California.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Does anybody bother? You know, for example, we don't get
- 10:02Speaker 3: any national money for congressional races. We just don't. We don't.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I mean in terms of advertising, because it's a moot point.
- 10:10Speaker 3: You know, Michigan is crazy making Wisconsin. If you're in
- 10:15Speaker 3: the media in Wisconsin or Michigan, for example, there are
- 10:18Speaker 3: no commercials to be bought. You cannot buy advertising on
- 10:23Speaker 3: radio or television or billboards, zero availability because everything is
- 10:30Speaker 3: sold out. Because that is how contingents content content contentions
- 10:37Speaker 3: con contentions, contentious, it is there. You'd like to buy
- 10:41Speaker 3: a vowel? Yeah, there are.
- 10:43Speaker 6: Styer's got a lot of ads, and Besara's running a
- 10:46Speaker 6: lot of ads. I haven't seen any from Hilton or Bianco.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Well, we're talking about statewide. Nationally, they don't bother. And
- 10:54Speaker 3: then I can see Democrats fighting each other, Republicans not
- 10:58Speaker 3: so much so. Well, Well, as I just said, you
- 11:02Speaker 3: literally go to any of those states, Bellweather states, Swing states,
- 11:07Speaker 3: and you're gonna see unbelievable amounts of advertising. Have you
- 11:10Speaker 3: noticed that our sales manager yesterday was on the street
- 11:15Speaker 3: corner with a big sign that said, will broadcast your
- 11:18Speaker 3: commercial for food?
- 11:20Speaker 5: Oh nice, We're gonna get one of those those inflatable
- 11:25Speaker 5: swinging arm guys on the corner to advertise for us, like.
- 11:29Speaker 3: They have a lot of bull A lot of bullhorns
- 11:31Speaker 3: are being sold around here. All right, we're coming back.
- 11:35Speaker 2: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 11:39Speaker 2: six forty.
- 11:41Speaker 5: Let's continue on. Okay, fair enough, all right, you heard
- 11:47Speaker 5: Amy talking about this earlier. This is good news, actually
- 11:51Speaker 5: better late than never. Federal authorities said they arrested eighteen
- 11:55Speaker 5: people yesterday on charges related with selling illicit drugs, including fentanyl,
- 12:01Speaker 5: methanphetamine around MacArthur Park. This is not a secret forever.
- 12:07Speaker 5: We've been looking at this place, Decline. It's densely populated.
- 12:13Speaker 5: It's immigrant neighborhoods all around there, west of downtown LA,
- 12:18Speaker 5: across from Langers. If you want to go, get the
- 12:22Speaker 5: number nineteen. I highly recommend it. So federal immigration authorities
- 12:27Speaker 5: and National Guard made a brief but mighty show of
- 12:30Speaker 5: force for you. Remember last summer got bass out there.
- 12:35Speaker 5: Of course the drug dealers didn't. But yeah, so they're
- 12:39Speaker 5: arresting a lot of people. They seized forty pounds of
- 12:43Speaker 5: fentanyl from a single home out there. And I drive
- 12:47Speaker 5: by it quite often, quite often because it's not far
- 12:50Speaker 5: from my home, and it is filthy and beat up.
- 12:56Speaker 5: I was talking to my aunt not long ago and
- 12:58Speaker 5: she said she used to go there, you know, on
- 13:00Speaker 5: dates and stuff like that.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Used to be a family park. Now it's filthy. I
- 13:04Speaker 3: don't know. Homeless Beech, Yeah, Venice Beach, but it's not dangerous.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Venice Beach isn't dangerous the way is it. I've been
- 13:12Speaker 3: in a long time.
- 13:12Speaker 5: Venice Beach has had some gang issues and all kinds
- 13:15Speaker 5: of stuff. Yeah, and I loved Venice Beach. I used
- 13:18Speaker 5: to go there all the time too.
- 13:19Speaker 3: But you know the part with the weightlifting part where
- 13:23Speaker 3: all those homosexual men who enjoy weightlifting and there.
- 13:27Speaker 5: I don't think they're homosexual, but the guys like you who.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Sat out and watched them maybe Okay, very good. Also,
- 13:33Speaker 3: I don't understand Langers, which is a great deli by
- 13:36Speaker 3: the way, I mean it's really fantastic. Yeah, I don't
- 13:38Speaker 3: know how they keep in business. I don't. I mean
- 13:41Speaker 3: you need an armed escort to go in and out
- 13:45Speaker 3: of Langers. Well, they complained and sat down.
- 13:49Speaker 5: They were going to close, and they sat down with
- 13:51Speaker 5: Bass because it got so bad.
- 13:56Speaker 6: I was just looking up something there Langers. You mentioned
- 14:00Speaker 6: the deli owner and the property owner are now calling
- 14:04Speaker 6: on Mayor Bass and the candidates to cancel a needle
- 14:08Speaker 6: and drug pipe giveaway contract that is going on at
- 14:13Speaker 6: MacArthur Park.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Oh, the Sartoside drug needle, drug pipe and drugs they're
- 14:17Speaker 3: going to give away.
- 14:19Speaker 6: I don't think. I don't think they're giving away the drugs,
- 14:21Speaker 6: but they are giving away the needles and the drug pipes.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Huh have those drugs safely. Yes, that's exactly the point.
- 14:29Speaker 5: Okay, can't you get arrested with the if you had
- 14:31Speaker 5: those in your paraphernalia?
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yes, you could accept if you're using it for it's
- 14:37Speaker 3: got Bass's name from the city. It is very very
- 14:40Speaker 3: strange stuff the way this is done, and the argument is,
- 14:44Speaker 3: I think it's a good argument. You're far we're far
- 14:46Speaker 3: better having you safely inject all of those drugs as
- 14:51Speaker 3: opposed to spreading hepatite to hepatitis C because nobody does that,
- 14:56Speaker 3: has any money, and the taxpayer is going to pay
- 14:58Speaker 3: half a million dollars so for treatment. They're always working.
- 15:02Speaker 5: With Hostess to give out doughnuts and things like that
- 15:05Speaker 5: to people with diabetes.
- 15:06Speaker 3: It's gonna okay, basically, there you.
- 15:08Speaker 6: Go Lutnick versus the lawmakers. Howard Lutnick has acknowledged that
- 15:14Speaker 6: he visited Jeffrey Epstein's island seven years after he claimed
- 15:19Speaker 6: to have severed ties with the convicted sex offender. The
- 15:23Speaker 6: Commerce Secretary had a closed door meeting with the House
- 15:27Speaker 6: Oversight and Government Reform Committee yesterday. Again closed doors, so
- 15:31Speaker 6: we don't actually get to hear everything that was said.
- 15:33Speaker 6: After the meeting, Representative James Walkinshaw of Virginia said they
- 15:38Speaker 6: deserve to see the sweat on the Secretary's brow as
- 15:41Speaker 6: he struggles to answer basic questions about his lives to
- 15:44Speaker 6: the American people. That comment is that it comes because
- 15:47Speaker 6: he wants to have public.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Hearings, right, and since you have a Republican committee chair,
- 15:55Speaker 3: although a comer is you know he's pushing it against
- 15:59Speaker 3: I Guesstick because you know the line was wrong. We
- 16:02Speaker 3: talked about this. This is beyond politics when we're talking
- 16:06Speaker 3: about Jeffrey Epstein, this is these are child predators and
- 16:10Speaker 3: Epstein was a not only a rapist but also facilitated
- 16:15Speaker 3: other people to rape children. And it was just crazy.
- 16:19Speaker 3: And let Nick just out and out lied, just out here,
- 16:21Speaker 3: and he will not say I lied. He just keeps
- 16:25Speaker 3: on deflecting and deflecting and deflecting. And frankly, I don't
- 16:30Speaker 3: I don't know how he stays in the good graces
- 16:34Speaker 3: of the president because he's he's I was never there,
- 16:39Speaker 3: I gave it up years before. And then he's there
- 16:42Speaker 3: with his family. You can't say stuff like that.
- 16:46Speaker 6: Isn't it even weirder that his family was there on
- 16:49Speaker 6: the island. Isn't this the sex Island.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know, I don't I don't believe when
- 16:54Speaker 3: people bring brought their families over there was any of
- 16:57Speaker 3: that going on. I think Epstein openly did that, you know,
- 17:00Speaker 3: with big billboards, come on in, You'll get fourteen year
- 17:03Speaker 3: olds to have sex with you. Okay, let's take a
- 17:05Speaker 3: break and we'll do one more. Now, let's do it now,
- 17:08Speaker 3: one more Epstein story. Quickly on that note, here is
- 17:12Speaker 3: a note.
- 17:12Speaker 5: The federal judge has released a suicidal suicide note rather
- 17:17Speaker 5: purportedly written by Jeffrey Epstein. This was that weird one
- 17:21Speaker 5: we talked about that was sealed for years as part
- 17:24Speaker 5: of another criminal case for his cellmate. So the note
- 17:27Speaker 5: says this, they investigated me for months, found nothing. That's
- 17:33Speaker 5: how the note begins, adding that the result was charges
- 17:38Speaker 5: going back many years. It is a treat to be
- 17:41Speaker 5: able to choose one's time to say goodbye, the note continued,
- 17:44Speaker 5: What you want me to do? Bust out crying. The
- 17:48Speaker 5: note reads no fun. It concludes with the words underlined
- 17:52Speaker 5: not worth it. And this is the note that was
- 17:56Speaker 5: found by his selly, Nicholas Tartaglioni, and it was discovered
- 18:01Speaker 5: in twenty nineteen after Epstein was found unresponsive the first
- 18:04Speaker 5: time with that strip of cloth, and then later was
- 18:07Speaker 5: found dead weeks later for the final time.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a story behind that, and that's coming up
- 18:15Speaker 3: an eight thirty. A lot of politics involved, and then
- 18:20Speaker 3: something I don't understand, but I'll ask that at eight thirty.
- 18:24Speaker 3: So stay tuned.
- 18:27Speaker 2: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 18:31Speaker 2: six forty.
- 18:33Speaker 3: More Handle on the news, Amy nel Me.
- 18:36Speaker 6: If you like a nice tan body, you're gonna like this.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Robert F.
- 18:42Speaker 6: Kennedy Junior posted a statement on X before the election
- 18:47Speaker 6: promising to end the US FDA's aggressive suppression of alternative
- 18:52Speaker 6: therapies like raw milk, iverbectum, psychedelics, and somewhat perplexingly, sunshine
- 18:58Speaker 6: Well the Rule, a proposed FDA rule that would have
- 19:02Speaker 6: banned minors from using tanning beds, has been withdrawn.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Of course, of course, why not no vaccines, but certainly
- 19:12Speaker 3: tanning beds. Go figure, aren't they coming up with some
- 19:17Speaker 3: kind of character to push it, you know, cartoon Keller
- 19:20Speaker 3: character melanomamel.
- 19:22Speaker 5: To uh to say, hey, this is great for you.
- 19:30Speaker 5: Come that is so stupid. This whole thing is stupids,
- 19:36Speaker 5: going into a a sun machine.
- 19:39Speaker 3: I know, it's insanity. Okay, boy, you know we're screwed,
- 19:45Speaker 3: all right.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Uh, this is one of those stories that has haunted
- 19:50Speaker 5: people for a long time, those of us who care
- 19:55Speaker 5: the there's a new search warrant in Kristen Smart's case.
- 19:59Speaker 5: If you remember, it's decades.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Is it thirty years since this happened? God, I think
- 20:10Speaker 3: it is. Yeah, nearly thirty years. Thirty years yeah, so
- 20:15Speaker 3: nineteen ninety six. Yeah, but she the body was never found. However,
- 20:21Speaker 3: there's new warrants, search warrants and investigation going on. Not
- 20:26Speaker 3: really tipping their hand as to what, but they did
- 20:31Speaker 3: serve search warrants as part of the ongoing probe into
- 20:34Speaker 3: the location of her body. Thirty years later, well cold
- 20:38Speaker 3: case files, huh yeah.
- 20:40Speaker 5: I mean at this point it's about some sort of
- 20:44Speaker 5: closure and conclusion, I imagine.
- 20:47Speaker 6: But wow, the push to keep the airport open, you know,
- 20:54Speaker 6: the Santa Monica Airport where all those jets fly in
- 20:56Speaker 6: and out of Supporters are making a pitch to keep
- 20:59Speaker 6: it open because city leaders have announced they're planning to
- 21:03Speaker 6: close the airport for good. December thirty first, twenty twenty eight,
- 21:07Speaker 6: the historic airfield opened in nineteen twenty three. It was
- 21:10Speaker 6: called clover Field at that time. It's one of America's
- 21:13Speaker 6: oldest operating airports. Supporters say the closure will result in
- 21:17Speaker 6: a loss of jobs and revenue for the city. They
- 21:20Speaker 6: also say the airport can help with emergency preparedness for
- 21:23Speaker 6: the upcoming fire season, and they need that airport open.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Okay, well, how about the subsequent fire season and the
- 21:31Speaker 3: fire season after that.
- 21:33Speaker 6: That's why they say it needs to stay open.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Right, I'm talking about the argument that for the next
- 21:38Speaker 3: fire season it needs to be a staging area. And
- 21:41Speaker 3: of course we don't get enough information about that. Are
- 21:44Speaker 3: studies being done or they have civil engineers going to
- 21:47Speaker 3: going at it, and it's it's hard to shut down
- 21:51Speaker 3: anything that's public, that's public land.
- 21:55Speaker 6: Well, the city of Santa Monica I said the land's
- 21:57Speaker 6: going to be converted into an open greens with sports
- 22:01Speaker 6: areas and cultural facilities. It's one hundred and ninety two acres.
- 22:04Speaker 3: That's a big piece of land. Disneyland News Neil, we
- 22:09Speaker 3: love Autopia.
- 22:10Speaker 5: This is one of the original rides there, gas powered
- 22:13Speaker 5: attraction at Disney's Disneyland's Tomorrowland, and they've been talking about
- 22:18Speaker 5: this since twenty twenty four.
- 22:20Speaker 6: Can we just say it's about time?
- 22:22Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, they want to switch to electric. So Bob
- 22:28Speaker 5: Gerr designed the original mock one and now I think
- 22:33Speaker 5: it's up to Monk seven or something. The body style
- 22:36Speaker 5: and stuff like that.
- 22:37Speaker 3: I remember as a kid. I was there a couple
- 22:40Speaker 3: of years after it opened, and I was a little one,
- 22:42Speaker 3: and you could smell those engines hundreds of yards away.
- 22:47Speaker 3: I mean just that's part of some with diesel fumes.
- 22:51Speaker 5: So when you went as a kid, did you just
- 22:54Speaker 5: wait in case someone got hit and then you'd go, Hi,
- 22:57Speaker 5: my name's Bill handle Esqui.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Yeah, as a matter of fact, I did. Early on.
- 23:02Speaker 3: I knew what I was going to do, and I'd go, hey, listen,
- 23:05Speaker 3: I'm going to be a lawyer in fifteen years. Why
- 23:08Speaker 3: don't just hang on and here's my card. But it
- 23:11Speaker 3: was in those days it wasn't even there, weren't even tracks.
- 23:14Speaker 5: No, they have that bumper in the middle. You could
- 23:17Speaker 5: drive anywhere and everywhere.
- 23:19Speaker 3: That was great. Thanks. So anyway, it's gonna be electric,
- 23:21Speaker 3: which makes a lot of sense. Amy's right. So I'm
- 23:24Speaker 3: surprised that it took this long. I really am.
- 23:27Speaker 6: I will tell you. It has gotten bad, and maybe
- 23:31Speaker 6: it's always been that way, but with all of those
- 23:33Speaker 6: little what are the lawnmower engines running? The fumes coming
- 23:38Speaker 6: off of the autopia are pretty bad, so cut them down.
- 23:44Speaker 6: California farmers are getting ready to destroy about four hundred
- 23:48Speaker 6: and twenty thousand peach trees. Why because del Monte Foods
- 23:54Speaker 6: closed its canneries in Modesto and Houston in April, and
- 24:00Speaker 6: that left a lot of multi generational farmers with a
- 24:03Speaker 6: lot of peaches and nothing to do with them. They
- 24:06Speaker 6: lost twenty year contracts tied to Klingstone peaches, and that
- 24:09Speaker 6: leaves some of the farmers facing about five hundred and
- 24:12Speaker 6: fifty million dollars in losses of revenue.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Make a cobbler, Yeah, that's make a big cobbler. That's
- 24:18Speaker 3: big cobbler.
- 24:19Speaker 6: I love peach. This makes me so sad.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Yeah, peaches are great. It's one of my favorite fruits.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Summer fruits, pitfruits, fruits that have pits in them, stone fruits. Yes.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Matter of fact, why don't we have a pit stop hose.
- 24:38Speaker 2: You're listening to Bill Handle on Demand from KFI AM
- 24:42Speaker 2: six forty.
- 24:46Speaker 3: We finished Handle on the news with Amy King Nil
- 24:50Speaker 3: Savedra and MOI Bill handle.
- 24:54Speaker 5: Interesting turn of events here, Google, Microsoft and x Ai
- 24:59Speaker 5: are going to share any of their unreleased versions of
- 25:02Speaker 5: their AI models with the government and this is supposed
- 25:07Speaker 5: to curb cybersecurity threats.
- 25:09Speaker 3: And the like.
- 25:09Speaker 5: The National Institute of Standards and Technology announced this. So
- 25:15Speaker 5: this partnership is really centering around anthropics very powerful new
- 25:22Speaker 5: mythos AI model as people have concerns, the government has
- 25:27Speaker 5: concerns about as impact on cybersecurity. So we shall see
- 25:32Speaker 5: how this goes down. But it's moving so damn fast.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Well, And that's the problem is technology is ahead of
- 25:39Speaker 3: the law anyway. The legal system always follows technology, either
- 25:46Speaker 3: rather quickly or way behind.
- 25:48Speaker 5: For years because you have to guard it. But you
- 25:50Speaker 5: have to know what it is before you get it.
- 25:52Speaker 5: You have to understand how far do you go, what
- 25:55Speaker 5: do you allow? Because there are all kinds of ethical concerns.
- 25:58Speaker 1: You know.
- 25:59Speaker 3: I go back to my career in my legal career
- 26:02Speaker 3: in surrogacy, for example, man the technology was there years
- 26:05Speaker 3: before they actually dealt with the implications.
- 26:10Speaker 6: The Battle of the ballots. A judge based in Atlanta
- 26:16Speaker 6: has ruled that the Department of Justice can keep possession
- 26:19Speaker 6: of twenty twenty election ballots seized during an FBI search
- 26:24Speaker 6: in January, the judge rejected Fulton County's request to return
- 26:30Speaker 6: the original copies of the seas material. So that means
- 26:33Speaker 6: the FBI is going to be able to keep more
- 26:34Speaker 6: than six hundred boxes of ballots from the twenty twenty
- 26:37Speaker 6: election as it pursues a criminal investigation into whether election
- 26:42Speaker 6: records were not properly retained or whether residents in Fulton
- 26:46Speaker 6: County were defrauded out of a fair election.
- 26:49Speaker 3: So here we go. It's going to be another investigation
- 26:53Speaker 3: and resources being spent on this fraudulent election of twenty twenty.
- 26:58Speaker 3: I wonder when that's all going to stop. Oh, by
- 27:00Speaker 3: the way, any criminal, any criminal activity, the statute limitations
- 27:04Speaker 3: is gone, but that doesn't matter. We still want to
- 27:07Speaker 3: go after everybody involved because it's fraud. It's fraud. It's fraud.
- 27:12Speaker 3: And you know, just at what point, you know, I
- 27:15Speaker 3: tell I say to the president, what point? Give it up? Already?
- 27:18Speaker 3: You're the president, do you understand, you're sitting in the
- 27:21Speaker 3: White House? You got it? Nope, it was fraud.
- 27:25Speaker 6: He said it this week. You know, the election that
- 27:28Speaker 6: I actually won. I was like, really, it's like six
- 27:31Speaker 6: years later.
- 27:31Speaker 5: I know, go figure all right, that Dutch cruise ship
- 27:37Speaker 5: we talked about with the hantavirus on board, apparently they've
- 27:41Speaker 5: now confirmed that the cases on that ship have risen
- 27:46Speaker 5: to five.
- 27:47Speaker 3: So says the World Health Organization. Yeah, we talked to
- 27:51Speaker 3: doctor Jim Keiney yesterday. This is one vicious, vicious disease,
- 27:56Speaker 3: forty percent mortality rate. But it looks like it is controlled,
- 28:02Speaker 3: or at least it's only within one area and that's
- 28:05Speaker 3: this ship. Although they're looking and three dead, five habit
- 28:12Speaker 3: and they went off Cape Verdi in Africa, which were
- 28:17Speaker 3: not allowed to get off the ship. Now they have
- 28:19Speaker 3: taken people off the ship and everybody involves in these
- 28:22Speaker 3: hazmat suits. I mean, it's a hell of a story.
- 28:26Speaker 6: Merger doesn't necessarily equal more money. Warner Brothers Discovery found
- 28:32Speaker 6: that out. They released their first quarter earnings, which included
- 28:36Speaker 6: a two point nine billion dollar loss. The amount includes
- 28:40Speaker 6: one point three billion in restructuring expenses. Contributing to the
- 28:44Speaker 6: net loss was the two point eight billion dollar termination
- 28:47Speaker 6: fee they had to pay to Netflix when Netflix bowed
- 28:51Speaker 6: out of the bidding and it went to Paramount Sky
- 28:53Speaker 6: Dance instead.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Actually it went to I have a little bit confused
- 29:02Speaker 3: the I think Netflix was asked to pay it, but
- 29:05Speaker 3: Paramount sky Dance picked up the cost. It's just and
- 29:09Speaker 3: this is what happens when you when you have these
- 29:11Speaker 3: merger talks that disappeared.
- 29:13Speaker 6: Yeah, but Warner still has to carry the obligation on
- 29:15Speaker 6: the right balance on this book in case the deal
- 29:17Speaker 6: falls apart.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Yeah, and these things now it's it's like a It's
- 29:22Speaker 3: like when you sell real estate and a deposit is
- 29:25Speaker 3: put down and it's hard money. It says if you
- 29:28Speaker 3: don't go through with it, that that deposit is done.
- 29:32Speaker 3: And so this is one of the situations where I'm
- 29:36Speaker 3: I'm involved in negotiations with you, or I want to
- 29:39Speaker 3: buy your company, and you spend money, I spend money,
- 29:41Speaker 3: but if I don't go through with it, this amount
- 29:45Speaker 3: of money will now be paid to me. And that's
- 29:47Speaker 3: exactly what happened in the billions of dollars. Okay, we're done, guys.
- 29:52Speaker 5: Oh man, well I missed the caning story Singapore can
- 29:57Speaker 5: cane kids.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
- 30:00Speaker 6: I thought they were doing that.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Not kids. There was an there was an argument about
- 30:04Speaker 3: these are nine year olds. Yeah, as young as nine
- 30:07Speaker 3: year olds. Yeah, so there's so I'm fine with cane
- 30:11Speaker 3: nine years old.
- 30:11Speaker 5: What's a year old one American that got caned many
- 30:15Speaker 5: many many years ago because he brought drugs or something there.
- 30:18Speaker 6: I thought it was because he spit gun them out
- 30:20Speaker 6: on the side.
- 30:21Speaker 3: I think, so true, you bring you get hanged in Singapore.
- 30:25Speaker 3: I just I just thought it. And that's for bullying.
- 30:28Speaker 3: So yeah, it's a weird place, Singapore. Okay, we're done, guys,
- 30:32Speaker 3: coming up, Well, last night we had a mayoral debate,
- 30:37Speaker 3: we had a governor debate, and we're going to go
- 30:40Speaker 3: through some of it. And it's no surprise. It's no surprise.
- 30:45Speaker 3: I'm getting so disgusted with all of this. I used
- 30:49Speaker 3: to love this stuff and now not so much anymore.
- 30:51Speaker 3: But it's important because we're going to see who our
- 30:53Speaker 3: new governor is going to do nothing, is going to
- 30:55Speaker 3: do and our new mayor who's going to do nothing.
- 30:57Speaker 3: So we've got plenty to talk about. Five am sixty.
