- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Amharic with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for another bite-sized lesson? Lucas: Absolutely. Last time we talked about body parts — head and foot. Luna: Right! I still remember 'ራሴ ይታመማል' — my head hurts. Though luckily today my head is fine. Lucas: Good to hear. Today we're moving to a new topic: the four seasons in Amharic. Luna: Oh, seasons! That's perfect. It's been getting warmer here. Lucas: Let's start with spring. In Amharic, spring is 'ፀደይ'. Luna: ፀደይ. Lucas: Yes. ፀደይ. Say it again? Luna: ፀደይ. Lucas: Great. Now summer — 'በጋ'. Luna: በጋ. Lucas: Good. Autumn is 'በልግ'. Luna: በልግ. Lucas: And winter is 'ክረምት'. Luna: ክረምት. That one feels a bit longer. Lucas: It is. Let's say them all together: ፀደይ, በጋ, በልግ, ክረምት. Luna: ፀደይ, በጋ, በልግ, ክረምት. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's use them in a sentence. 'ፀደይ ያምራል' — spring is beautiful. Luna: ፀደይ ያምራል. Lucas: And 'በጋ ሞቃት ነው' — summer is hot. Luna: በጋ ሞቃት ነው. Lucas: 'በልግ ቀዝቃዛ ነው' — autumn is cool. Luna: በልግ ቀዝቃዛ ነው. Lucas: And 'ክረምት በጣም ቀዝቃዛ ነው' — winter is very cold. Luna: ክረምት በጣም ቀዝቃዛ ነው. That's a lot of words! Lucas: You did it. Let's make a little dialogue. Imagine I ask you: 'አሁን የትኛው ወቅት ነው?' — which season is it now? Luna: Hmm. Let's say it's summer. So I'd say: 'አሁን በጋ ነው'. Lucas: Exactly! 'አሁን በጋ ነው'. Luna: Can I ask you the same? 'አሁን የትኛው ወቅት ነው?' Lucas: Sure. 'አሁን ፀደይ ነው' — it's spring. See how easy that feels? Luna: Yeah, I like that pattern. Lucas: Let's do a quick review. I'll say the English, you say the Amharic. Spring? Luna: ፀደይ. Lucas: Summer? Luna: በጋ. Lucas: Autumn? Luna: በልግ. Lucas: Winter? Luna: ክረምት. Lucas: Nailed it. So we have positive and negative. Let's put it all together. I'll say a season, you say if you like it or not. Ready? ፀደይ? Luna: ፀደይ እወዳለሁ. Lucas: ክረምት? Luna: ክረምት አልወድም. Lucas: Great job.
