- 2:25Speaker 2: We need the help, yo, and so thank you in thanks.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Before we get into our recap, I just wanted to
- 2:32Speaker 1: ask you, beautiful Beatrice, whether you have any takeaways.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I'm just gonna say it right now. I'm kind of
- 2:38Speaker 2: team Leon this week. I normally don't really like Leon.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I think Leon's pretty annoying. I understand Mary was coming
- 2:45Speaker 2: to them in earnest, but I'm like, you know what,
- 2:48Speaker 2: Leon's pretty based this week. I understand how they're coming
- 2:52Speaker 2: except for the eyebrow comment that was that was straight
- 2:55Speaker 2: up me.
- 2:55Speaker 1: That was pretty mean. I would agree, Yeah, Well, my
- 2:58Speaker 1: takeaway has nothing to do with sis wives. Instead, I
- 3:01Speaker 1: just want y'all to know that we live in Texas,
- 3:04Speaker 1: and I don't know if y'all have heard, but it's
- 3:06Speaker 1: hot here.
- 3:07Speaker 2: It's hot as hell.
- 3:08Speaker 1: It is like almost seven thirty at night, and it
- 3:11Speaker 1: is one hundred and four actual not feels like no,
- 3:16Speaker 1: like actual temperature in real life. It is so hot,
- 3:19Speaker 1: and so in the background you are going to be
- 3:21Speaker 1: hearing a NonStop air conditioner. Typically, we like to turn
- 3:26Speaker 1: it off so that we can have a very quiet
- 3:27Speaker 1: environment to have our very sacred, serious discussions. But tonight
- 3:33Speaker 1: we're just gonna have to blast the AC, honey, because
- 3:35Speaker 1: otherwise we're going we're not going to exist anymore. Okay,
- 3:38Speaker 1: so just deef yi that's my takeaway. It's freaking hot.
- 3:41Speaker 1: What's going on? For real? Is it the climate change?
- 3:44Speaker 2: It's the data centers?
- 3:46Speaker 1: Is it the data centers? I don't know. Oh my god?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Is it Sam Altman? We're talking about him? Yeah, we
- 3:54Speaker 1: will be all right. Let's get into this very meaty,
- 3:59Speaker 1: very long, juicy, and very long episode of season's, Season ten,
- 4:05Speaker 1: episode five five Unforgiven Mary, Mary forgiven any in more
- 4:14Speaker 1: ways than one.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Yeah, your child is not forgiven you yep, and neither
- 4:18Speaker 2: did Robin or Cody.
- 4:19Speaker 1: No, big yikes.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Well, we start the episode off at Janelle's house with
- 4:23Speaker 2: Maddie and Caleb. They're gonna go wedding dress shopping because
- 4:26Speaker 2: a lot of this episode is going to be centering
- 4:29Speaker 2: around not only just Mary and Leon, but Robin and
- 4:31Speaker 2: in her pregnancy and also Caleb and Maddie and getting married,
- 4:38Speaker 2: and respectfully, I don't care about that stuff. I don't
- 4:41Speaker 2: care about the pregnancy. No, I don't care about the wedding.
- 4:45Speaker 2: That's great, And I kind of care.
- 4:46Speaker 1: About the wedding. I don't. I love a good wedding.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I don't. Well, we have to touch upon it.
- 4:53Speaker 2: We do I know. So we're at Janelle's house, Maddie
- 4:56Speaker 2: and Caleb were there. Maddie's gonna go wedding dress shopping
- 4:59Speaker 2: and and she's really excited. She ultimately wants everybody to cry.
- 5:03Speaker 2: She wants Caleb to cry. She wants Cody to cry.
- 5:05Speaker 2: She doesn't even want Cody at the shop while she's
- 5:09Speaker 2: trying on wedding dresses.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And Cody wants to be at the shop, though, which
- 5:12Speaker 1: is interesting. Why does he always want to be at
- 5:15Speaker 1: the lady's fashion shops?
- 5:17Speaker 2: Well, there's a couple of faeries.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Is there a conspiracy or two out there about that?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Maybe it's this flamboyant personality and I don't maybe, or
- 5:25Speaker 2: maybe it's just because she's his first daughter getting married
- 5:29Speaker 2: and he kind of wants to be a part of
- 5:30Speaker 2: it in his own dumb, like selfish way or whatever.
- 5:34Speaker 2: But I thought the scene was interesting because Maddie, you know,
- 5:37Speaker 2: does say she really wants Caleb to cry when she's
- 5:39Speaker 2: walking down the aisle, and I think every girl wants
- 5:42Speaker 2: that when she's getting mooed. She wants her husband to
- 5:44Speaker 2: be to be all in tears and emotional at her
- 5:48Speaker 2: beauty or whatever. And she says this, and Cody's like, yeah,
- 5:51Speaker 2: you do want that. You're manipulative that way.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm my damn.
- 5:55Speaker 2: And he says it as like a joke. He's like, no,
- 5:58Speaker 2: just kidding, I don't mean it that, But I'm like,
- 6:01Speaker 2: who says that about their first daughter getting married? Like
- 6:06Speaker 2: w tf?
- 6:07Speaker 1: It was very strange.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I didn't understand that at all. And so ultimately they
- 6:11Speaker 2: go wedding dress shopping.
- 6:13Speaker 1: She picks a dress.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I loved it is she did look really pretty, and yeah,
- 6:18Speaker 2: everybody was so happy for her, and I liked how
- 6:21Speaker 2: she had all of the moms there, even Robin with her.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Big old pregnant billy.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Yeah, all of the eldest daughters and everything were there,
- 6:29Speaker 2: and I thought that that was really sweet, and I
- 6:31Speaker 2: am happy for her and stuff. It's just like when
- 6:34Speaker 2: the episode is surrounding Mary and the Catfish and Mary
- 6:38Speaker 2: trying to rekindle her relationship with Leon, that's what I
- 6:40Speaker 2: want to see. Yeah, you know what I mean. And
- 6:42Speaker 2: so then we go over to Mary's house where we
- 6:46Speaker 2: have this like little segment about her painting journey because
- 6:50Speaker 2: she's gotten really into her artwork and stuff.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I forgot about that. I already blotted it from my consciousness.
- 6:57Speaker 2: But yeah, and look, it's really cute that she has
- 7:00Speaker 2: a hobby, and I think it's great, and I think
- 7:02Speaker 2: her artwork is really sweet or whatever. She talks about
- 7:06Speaker 2: how she's meeting with a painting instructor to work on
- 7:10Speaker 2: these paintings she's making for Cody and the other wives,
- 7:14Speaker 2: and the paintings she's making are.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Trees, lots and lots and lots of trees.
- 7:21Speaker 2: And a lot of it is like symbolic for Mary
- 7:26Speaker 2: saying to the family, I want to be a part
- 7:28Speaker 2: of the family.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I clear about guys. Can I come back?
- 7:31Speaker 2: Can I be a tree in your field? Please? So
- 7:35Speaker 2: she makes Cody a painting with twenty three trees, and
- 7:38Speaker 2: that's supposed to symbolize like the entire family, all of
- 7:41Speaker 2: the wives and all the children included. And then she's
- 7:43Speaker 2: making paintings that are customized for each of the wives,
- 7:46Speaker 2: like Janelle's going to be pine trees, Mary's or Robin's
- 7:50Speaker 2: gonna be palm trees, I think, and Christine's gonna be
- 7:53Speaker 2: these weird swirly.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Trees, whimsical trees with fairy lights.
- 7:58Speaker 2: And look, that's cute or what have her? And I
- 8:01Speaker 2: think that it's Mary's way of trying to build back
- 8:06Speaker 2: a relationship with the family because she had kind of
- 8:09Speaker 2: withdrawn from everybody when she was sucking on a banana
- 8:12Speaker 2: in a bathtub and talking to Sam not Sam.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Holtman, don't get confused, don't get confused.
- 8:20Speaker 2: And so I think it's sweet or whatever. But again,
- 8:23Speaker 2: I just we don't need to say.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Well, I just felt a lot of affection for Mary actually,
- 8:29Speaker 1: because when she was talking to the painting instructor, who
- 8:33Speaker 1: knew that that was a thing. She's talking to her
- 8:36Speaker 1: painting instructor about each of her sister wives, and she's
- 8:40Speaker 1: like really very complimentary towards Janelle. Janelle loves to camp
- 8:45Speaker 1: and she loves nature, and Christine's just such a good
- 8:48Speaker 1: time and she's just always so happy. And I forgot
- 8:51Speaker 1: what she said about Robin Free Spirit. I don't say
- 8:55Speaker 1: anything about.
- 8:56Speaker 2: I can't remember.
- 8:58Speaker 1: And then I was looking in the painting though, to
- 9:00Speaker 1: try and find the painting that signified her in Cody,
- 9:04Speaker 1: and I think it was the one that she was
- 9:05Speaker 1: working on in the actual segment, which was like three Mountains. Yeah,
- 9:09Speaker 1: so maybe that's Cody Leon and Mary. Probably it just
- 9:14Speaker 1: there was something very melancholic about it as well. I
- 9:17Speaker 1: felt bad for her. She's trying.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I feel bad for her too, because she really is trying,
- 9:22Speaker 2: and like, obviously she knows she messed up, and she
- 9:25Speaker 2: talks about it throughout the episode, about how she broke
- 9:28Speaker 2: trust with everyone in the family, Like she doesn't name
- 9:30Speaker 2: names specifically, but she says like she has to work
- 9:34Speaker 2: on rebuilding her relationships with a lot of people, and
- 9:37Speaker 2: we know that this includes Leon. We know that this
- 9:40Speaker 2: is including Cody and Robin and probably a few other
- 9:43Speaker 2: people in the family. And so I do I do
- 9:47Speaker 2: feel for her because she is trying. It just sucks
- 9:50Speaker 2: because we know that it doesn't really matter to the
- 9:52Speaker 2: rest of the family, especially Cody. To Cody and Robin,
- 9:55Speaker 2: because they already feel betrayed at this point, I.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Think it's certainly coming across as if she would like
- 10:03Speaker 1: Mary to just shut up about it already, like and
- 10:06Speaker 1: she's been talking about how Mary was taken advantage of.
- 10:10Speaker 1: So I mean, what does she have to be betrayed about? Nothing? Cody, yes,
- 10:15Speaker 1: Robin no, yeah.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Robin no, she has nothing. But I think she is
- 10:18Speaker 2: betrayed on behalf of Cody, and we know Robin's a
- 10:21Speaker 2: snake and she never really liked Mary, so I do
- 10:24Speaker 2: feel for her. I think it's a really sweet project
- 10:26Speaker 2: that she's doing and working on. I think we end
- 10:29Speaker 2: up seeing her give the paintings to everybody in like
- 10:33Speaker 2: another episode. And I want to say, if I remember correctly,
- 10:37Speaker 2: that Cody like doesn't give a shit about the painting
- 10:40Speaker 2: and it's really sad actually, but like the wives actually
- 10:43Speaker 2: care about. Like I know, Janelle and Christine have a
- 10:46Speaker 2: pretty good reaction because they see the symbolism in it,
- 10:48Speaker 2: and they see the meaning that Mary is, you know,
- 10:52Speaker 2: portraying in this stuff. But Cody, I think shit's all
- 10:55Speaker 2: over it and is like, no, cool, thanks, I guess,
- 10:58Speaker 2: and he doesn't see the kind gesturesh.
- 11:01Speaker 1: That's gonna be terrible. I'm gonna get mad. I'm telling
- 11:03Speaker 1: you right now.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Me too. And then we have a little segment with
- 11:07Speaker 2: Cody and Robin meeting with their midwife because Robin is
- 11:10Speaker 2: big and pregnant and she's three weeks till her due date.
- 11:14Speaker 2: She's having Braxton Hanks and she's worried about it.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Is it, Sam? Whaty is it? Is? He?
- 11:22Speaker 2: So we have to meet with the midwife and we
- 11:24Speaker 2: see Robin and her stretch marks.
- 11:26Speaker 1: And listen, I don't want to point that out, and
- 11:29Speaker 1: I didn't, you did, But we don't want to point
- 11:32Speaker 1: that out except for the fact that Robin is the
- 11:35Speaker 1: one that called out the stretch marks with the other
- 11:39Speaker 1: three wives, and how Cody's such a saint for loving
- 11:43Speaker 1: them even though they were fat and had stretch marks,
- 11:45Speaker 1: and here you are with all your stretch marks.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, and obviously there's nothing wrong with stretch marks,
- 11:50Speaker 2: so beautiful or whatever. But like the fact that Robin
- 11:53Speaker 2: made that comment in later seasons, it's just funny to
- 11:55Speaker 2: see it in the earlier ones, and how that's okay, right,
- 11:59Speaker 2: but whatever. So she has her like ultrasound and everything's fine,
- 12:03Speaker 2: the baby's fine. Cody makes some dumb comment about how
- 12:06Speaker 2: he really wants Ari to be born on New Year's
- 12:09Speaker 2: Eve and how he thinks it'd be really fun for
- 12:11Speaker 2: tax purposes, right, so that he can deduct the kid
- 12:16Speaker 2: on taxes for the whole year and that'd be really cool, right,
- 12:20Speaker 2: So I'm like, okay, that's what you care about, but
- 12:22Speaker 2: we like whatever, and that's pretty much it. I don't
- 12:25Speaker 2: really care about Robin. I don't really care about her pregnancy,
- 12:27Speaker 2: no offense to Ari. I just don't give a shit
- 12:30Speaker 2: about Robin and coach day. So then we go back
- 12:32Speaker 2: to Mary and Mary is planning a trip to go
- 12:35Speaker 2: to Utah to visit Leon and to try and talk
- 12:38Speaker 2: to Leon about their feelings about the whole catfish situation,
- 12:43Speaker 2: because obviously Leon is pissed off about it and has
- 12:46Speaker 2: a lot of hurt feelings and this has caused an
- 12:49Speaker 2: estrangement between Leon and Mary, and Mary really is going
- 12:53Speaker 2: over there in earnest. However, she wants to bring Solomon
- 12:58Speaker 2: on the trip, and she says she wants to bring
- 13:00Speaker 2: Solomon because it would be a really good, like tension diffuser,
- 13:04Speaker 2: because Solomon and Leon are really close, and she wants
- 13:09Speaker 2: Solomon's like light and bubbly energy there to make it
- 13:12Speaker 2: less awkward between Mary and Leon. I kind of feel
- 13:15Speaker 2: a certain way about that, So.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Mary, well, what kind of way do you feel about that? Show?
- 13:19Speaker 2: I just don't feel like, if you're going there to
- 13:22Speaker 2: work on your relationship with your kid, you don't need
- 13:24Speaker 2: to bring another kid as like a buffer.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Well, yeah, Solomon is intended to be like a meat shield, Yeah,
- 13:30Speaker 1: so that Mary can hide behind him and not have
- 13:33Speaker 1: to articulate her ownership and what happened, and that's what
- 13:36Speaker 1: they'd have to fully face what Leona is going through. Yeah,
- 13:39Speaker 1: it's really obvious and it's also unfortunate. But Mary doesn't
- 13:42Speaker 1: have the reck was it self reflection to understand that
- 13:46Speaker 1: that's the reason. Yeah, she wants Solomon to come exactly.
- 13:50Speaker 2: And so Mary goes over to Robin and Cody's house
- 13:52Speaker 2: to basically ask for permission to bring Solomon on this trip.
- 13:56Speaker 2: And she says, you know, hey, I just want to
- 13:58Speaker 2: bring Solomon. I'm wondering if I can go. I'm only
- 14:00Speaker 2: going to be up in Utah for a couple of nights,
- 14:02Speaker 2: is that all right? And Cody and Robin immediately say no.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Cody actually laughs at Mary at first, which I thought
- 14:09Speaker 2: was really interesting, but then he kind of covers it up,
- 14:11Speaker 2: being like, you know, I can't even take Solomon alone
- 14:14Speaker 2: because he's super attached to Robin. And Robin does have
- 14:18Speaker 2: I think, kind of a valid excuse in that Solomon's
- 14:22Speaker 2: only four, he's never had any overnight trips, he's never
- 14:25Speaker 2: even been away from Robin, and apparently, according to Robin,
- 14:28Speaker 2: he's been having like nightmares every night and he wakes
- 14:31Speaker 2: up always asking for Robin, and he's really attached to her,
- 14:36Speaker 2: and she's just like, I don't think it would be
- 14:38Speaker 2: a good idea for you to bring Solomon. And Mary
- 14:42Speaker 2: takes this super personally immediately, like immediately, doesn't even really
- 14:47Speaker 2: listen to them about it.
- 14:48Speaker 1: She skipped over there fully expecting them to say yes.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And I'm just like, as a mom, though, this is
- 14:55Speaker 1: my little baby, and you should at least maybe plan
- 15:00Speaker 1: for me to say no. Yes, like most moms would
- 15:03Speaker 1: probably say no, but within the scope of their family structure.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Mary is trying to assert the fact that she is
- 15:12Speaker 1: a parent as well, isn't she, And so that's what
- 15:15Speaker 1: she's actually bringing into the conversation is like, I'm entitled
- 15:18Speaker 1: somewhat though, right because I'm a mom too to this child,
- 15:22Speaker 1: But no, you are not. And Robin immediately shuts that down,
- 15:26Speaker 1: and you can just see it all over Mary's face,
- 15:28Speaker 1: walls up, walls off up, it's.
- 15:31Speaker 2: NATSI And she just shuts right down, like immediately, and
- 15:35Speaker 2: she says to the camera that she's actually surprised by
- 15:39Speaker 2: Cody and Robin saying no so quickly, and she takes
- 15:42Speaker 2: it so personal because she feels like it's kind of
- 15:44Speaker 2: like a trust thing because she broke the family's trust
- 15:47Speaker 2: with the catfishing situation, and so she's thinking that they
- 15:51Speaker 2: are saying no as a response to that, like we
- 15:53Speaker 2: don't trust you with her kid, we don't trust you
- 15:55Speaker 2: to be a part of the family. Like she's completely taking.
- 15:58Speaker 1: It, super protecting.
- 16:00Speaker 2: And totally projecting. And so when Cody and Robin say no,
- 16:03Speaker 2: and they're kind of polite about it, it's not really
- 16:05Speaker 2: like they're being like they're being totally reasonable. Also, like
- 16:09Speaker 2: it's not like I don't think it wasn't even that
- 16:11Speaker 2: bad of a reason to say no. But Mary immediately
- 16:14Speaker 2: gets up and is like, okay, fine, and then leaves
- 16:17Speaker 2: and slams the door.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Slammed that door, Like, dare you also just learn to
- 16:22Speaker 1: use your words no for real in the moment. Maybe
- 16:25Speaker 1: communicate and tell them how that makes you feel so
- 16:28Speaker 1: that they can give you more information so you don't
- 16:30Speaker 1: feel that way. All of these people are so terribly immature.
- 16:34Speaker 2: It's really bad. And I will say, after Mary slams
- 16:38Speaker 2: the door and leaves, Cody does kind of question Robin
- 16:42Speaker 2: about it a little bit, and it seems like, at
- 16:44Speaker 2: least for the cameras that he's trying to advocate for Mary,
- 16:47Speaker 2: and he knows that Mary's feelings are hurt, and he
- 16:49Speaker 2: understands kind of why it would be. But Cody's like,
- 16:54Speaker 2: why did you say no? And Robin's like, well, I
- 16:56Speaker 2: just don't feel comfortable. He's literally four years old. He
- 16:58Speaker 2: can't be a can't be away from me, and you
- 17:01Speaker 2: know this, he can't even be away from me for
- 17:04Speaker 2: a couple hours before he's already crying and asking for me, Like,
- 17:07Speaker 2: I just don't think it's the right time for him
- 17:08Speaker 2: right now, which is fully fair, and that's fair, and
- 17:11Speaker 2: like Robin to the camera says, like it has nothing
- 17:13Speaker 2: to do with Mary, like I know, I trust her
- 17:16Speaker 2: as a person, I trust her as a mom. I'm
- 17:18Speaker 2: just also trying to be a mom to Solomon. So
- 17:21Speaker 2: suebi right, and Cody ultimately understands Robin's perspective and he
- 17:25Speaker 2: respects her mom gut instinct. But then this leads to
- 17:30Speaker 2: Robin and Cody walking all over to Mary's haunted house
- 17:34Speaker 2: to talk to her about it and try and ease
- 17:36Speaker 2: her feefees because she's very obviously upset.
- 17:39Speaker 1: She's crying, straight up crying, and she does have the
- 17:43Speaker 1: insight to tell producers in the camera that she feels
- 17:48Speaker 1: this is a trust issue, that she's being rejected in
- 17:50Speaker 1: this moment because Cody and Robin and maybe the entire
- 17:53Speaker 1: family don't really trust her anymore, Like this is further
- 17:58Speaker 1: evidence that she's broke can that trust with everybody, And
- 18:02Speaker 1: so she's just really dejected when they come walking in
- 18:06Speaker 1: and just try to explain to her, like, hey, like
- 18:09Speaker 1: it's not personal at all, Like this would be a
- 18:13Speaker 1: huge bummer for you. Like maybe it'd be cool for
- 18:15Speaker 1: three hours while you're on the road or whatever, but
- 18:17Speaker 1: then Solomon would have an absolute meltdown and crash out.
- 18:21Speaker 1: And the only person Solomon wants is Robin in this
- 18:25Speaker 1: season of his life, and so you would not be
- 18:27Speaker 1: able to provide that to Solomon. It would be a
- 18:29Speaker 1: terrible thing for you and for him. And that, again,
- 18:32Speaker 1: is entirely reasonable, and Mary seems to kind of come
- 18:36Speaker 1: around to understanding that, but she also seems very invested
- 18:41Speaker 1: in taking it personal as well.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Yeah, because of it, she straight up says something like, well,
- 18:45Speaker 2: you don't think I can handle it, And Cody and
- 18:47Speaker 2: Robin are like, we're not saying you can't, Like we're
- 18:50Speaker 2: saying that it's not good for Solomon. It's not about you,
- 18:53Speaker 2: it's not about you, about the child exactly. And then Robin,
- 18:57Speaker 2: to her credit, offers an alternative, and she's like, well,
- 19:01Speaker 2: since Solomon can't go and I don't feel comfortable in
- 19:03Speaker 2: him going, what about you take Brianna. She loves you,
- 19:06Speaker 2: she's been on trips with you before. I know she
- 19:08Speaker 2: would be super excited to go with you. Like, you
- 19:11Speaker 2: can take Brianna and that's totally fine. And Mary at
- 19:14Speaker 2: first was like, kind of I don't want to be mean,
- 19:17Speaker 2: but she was kind of bitchy about it.
- 19:19Speaker 1: She's like, it's fine.
- 19:20Speaker 2: I guess I could just have to shift my plans
- 19:22Speaker 2: because I was really excited about Solomon. And again, it's
- 19:25Speaker 2: to your point of like her being kind of entitled,
- 19:27Speaker 2: thinking that they would have just said yes to have
- 19:30Speaker 2: her bring Solomon, and I'm just like, Mary.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Chill, yeah, god, yeah, you should have planned for that
- 19:35Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 19:36Speaker 2: A little bit. And I'm not trying to like side
- 19:38Speaker 2: with Cody and Robin because I was even watching this
- 19:40Speaker 2: from that perspective of like, well, maybe it is a
- 19:43Speaker 2: trust thing. Maybe they are kind of punishing Mary a
- 19:47Speaker 2: little bit by not letting her take Solomon, But I
- 19:50Speaker 2: don't know, I just felt like it was kind of
- 19:51Speaker 2: a valid excuse.
- 19:54Speaker 1: So like Mary, Mary definitely overreacted and slamming the door
- 19:57Speaker 1: was wild.
- 19:58Speaker 2: That is crazy. I'm like, how and you're gonna slam
- 20:01Speaker 2: the door like a teenager. But anyway, ultimately Mary asks
- 20:05Speaker 2: Brianna to come over or to come to Utah with her,
- 20:08Speaker 2: and Brianna is like, hell, yeah, I get to miss
- 20:10Speaker 2: school even better and it's gonna be fine. And then
- 20:13Speaker 2: they head up to Utah and this is where things
- 20:17Speaker 2: start getting interesting. But of course then we have to
- 20:20Speaker 2: like segue back to Vegas and heading up to Billings,
- 20:24Speaker 2: Montana to go look at wedding venues with Maddie and Kayla.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Which I loved. So let me just recap it quickly, Yeah,
- 20:31Speaker 1: so that we don't enrage you. But it was great,
- 20:34Speaker 1: Like they went to see three different venues. It was
- 20:37Speaker 1: Cody and Maddie and Janelle. Yeah, and the first venue
- 20:43Speaker 1: was the place with the treehouses and it was really
- 20:46Speaker 1: really pretteous and the outdoor tent with all the lights,
- 20:50Speaker 1: it was just stupendous. I loved it. And then I
- 20:54Speaker 1: remembered immediately, Oh, that's where they go. This is the
- 20:57Speaker 1: venue that they think they actually get married, and so
- 20:59Speaker 1: I already knew. And then they is the second place,
- 21:01Speaker 1: which had a barn, and Maddie was really enamored with
- 21:04Speaker 1: the idea of like everybody dancing in a barn, but
- 21:07Speaker 1: the rest of it was straight booty. And then they
- 21:10Speaker 1: went to the third place, which was like a faux
- 21:14Speaker 1: general store or something, or like the park or something.
- 21:19Speaker 1: It was a very odd venue and they didn't select it.
- 21:22Speaker 1: They ultimately went with venue number one, which is available
- 21:26Speaker 1: in short notice. So they have a wonderful place to
- 21:30Speaker 1: get married. And now the conversations are going to be
- 21:33Speaker 1: around getting a kadder and getting flowers and figuring all
- 21:38Speaker 1: that stuff out in like the six months it's going
- 21:40Speaker 1: to take before the nuptials.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Yeah, And I will say the adults on the couch
- 21:45Speaker 2: were kind of reflecting on why this is such a
- 21:47Speaker 2: big deal to them, because Maddie is the first daughter
- 21:51Speaker 2: and the first of the older og kids to get married,
- 21:54Speaker 2: and so they're really excited about it, and they're trying
- 21:56Speaker 2: to figure everything out like they've never done this before,
- 21:59Speaker 2: they'd ever planned a wedding. Robin makes some kind of
- 22:02Speaker 2: comment about how Christine and Janelle had to have secret
- 22:05Speaker 2: weddings so they didn't get to plan anything. But of
- 22:08Speaker 2: course Mary got to have a real wedding, and so
- 22:10Speaker 2: did Robin, and so Christine and Janelle were the only
- 22:13Speaker 2: ones really left out. And I think Janelle probably doesn't
- 22:16Speaker 2: give a shit, but I know Christine did, because obviously
- 22:19Speaker 2: we know she had a big wedding to David once
- 22:21Speaker 2: she finally got rid of Cody. And then you know,
- 22:24Speaker 2: we have to make it about Cody and Ari and
- 22:27Speaker 2: how once Ari gets married at twenty five, you know,
- 22:30Speaker 2: Cody's going to be in his seventies and he's going
- 22:33Speaker 2: to have to go through a lot of weddings. And
- 22:34Speaker 2: I'm just thinking about how that comment totally aged like
- 22:38Speaker 2: Milk because he's not really involved in any of his
- 22:41Speaker 2: og kids' lives. So really, the only weddings he's going
- 22:44Speaker 2: to see now are going to be Brianna's and Aurora
- 22:49Speaker 2: and Ari. That's it. He's not going to be involved
- 22:51Speaker 2: in anybody else's.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Maybe I think Savannah would invite him. I think I
- 22:57Speaker 1: think what's her name Isabelle would probably invite and you
- 23:02Speaker 1: know Hunter would. I mean, I think there were some
- 23:04Speaker 1: kids that would still invite Cody. But yeah, that did
- 23:08Speaker 1: age terribly. It did.
- 23:09Speaker 2: It's kind of sad.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Actually, before we move on, and I think we're going
- 23:13Speaker 1: to move into Mary, right, yep. I do just want
- 23:15Speaker 1: to back up a little bit with Mary because through
- 23:18Speaker 1: her talking heads to the camera when she was you know,
- 23:22Speaker 1: talking to producers about how it felt like a rejection
- 23:25Speaker 1: from Cody and Robin and how like she really wants
- 23:28Speaker 1: to figure out where she fits in this family, and
- 23:31Speaker 1: to her it is really just all about the kids.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I want to talk about that because she said that
- 23:37Speaker 1: a few times, like, for me, it's all about the kids.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I want to make sure the kids are okay. It
- 23:43Speaker 1: has always for me just been about the kids. And
- 23:46Speaker 1: I'm just like, Mary, if you don't cut the shit
- 23:49Speaker 1: this moment, because if it was all about the kids,
- 23:53Speaker 1: you would have been around more in the last year.
- 23:56Speaker 1: But no, when we see you in last season and
- 23:58Speaker 1: part of this season, like you're in the background, you're
- 24:00Speaker 1: on your fucking phone, you're taking phone calls, you're in
- 24:03Speaker 1: your haunted house. You're not really integrated with the family.
- 24:07Speaker 1: That was your choice. What about the kids, then, why
- 24:10Speaker 1: weren't you showing up then. And also if you knew
- 24:13Speaker 1: that by entering into this relationship with Sam slash Jackie,
- 24:17Speaker 1: you would ultimately leave. Even though in this episode she's like,
- 24:21Speaker 1: I never would have done that. Lean is so wrong.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I just would not have done that. Yes, you would have.
- 24:27Speaker 1: If you haven't heard the recordings of Mary calling who
- 24:30Speaker 1: she thought was Sam, talking about how Sam is wonderful
- 24:34Speaker 1: and how she loves Sam and Sam is hot, like
- 24:37Speaker 1: Mary was in love with Sam. You absolutely intended to
- 24:41Speaker 1: have a relationship with this person. You were just about
- 24:44Speaker 1: to detonate the entire family and leave all of them.
- 24:48Speaker 1: So please get off your fucking high horse about the
- 24:51Speaker 1: kids and how it's all about the kids, and now
- 24:53Speaker 1: you're painting trees, Like, can we be honest for a second.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Does it really take two raccoons in a dumpster to
- 24:59Speaker 1: be honest about what's really going on? Damn? Yes?
- 25:02Speaker 2: Though, because even throughout this whole episode, every single talking
- 25:06Speaker 2: head Mary has where she's recounting how she fucked up
- 25:09Speaker 2: with the catfish, she doesn't call it a relationship. She
- 25:12Speaker 2: keeps calling it a friendship, like deliberately. And I was targeted, Yes,
- 25:17Speaker 2: I was targeted because I was vulnerable, and I was
- 25:20Speaker 2: in a hard spot and I was taken advantage of.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Like, girl, no, be really what happened?
- 25:25Speaker 2: Be real? You had an emotional affair, I mean and
- 25:28Speaker 2: kind of physical a little bit because you were sexting
- 25:30Speaker 2: this dude, so like get outing.
- 25:32Speaker 1: And everybody knows it though, yeah, at this time in
- 25:35Speaker 1: the timeline twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen, like it's been on
- 25:38Speaker 1: the cover of US Weekly, of people, of all the mags,
- 25:42Speaker 1: Like everybody knows what's happened. So many people have seen
- 25:44Speaker 1: you with a banana in your mouth, everybody's heard the recording.
- 25:47Speaker 1: So why you always lie it?
- 25:49Speaker 2: For real? And like people would have more compassion for you,
- 25:53Speaker 2: and people do have compassion for it and for her
- 25:56Speaker 2: about your situation and like why you even thought to
- 25:59Speaker 2: have this affair in the first place, But like, just
- 26:01Speaker 2: fucking beyond it.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I know it's not about the kids, Mary, If it
- 26:04Speaker 1: was about the kids, you would have made different choices.
- 26:06Speaker 1: And that's for damn sure facts.
- 26:09Speaker 2: And so when we're in Utah, we have a couple
- 26:11Speaker 2: of segments with Mary and Leon. The first segment is
- 26:14Speaker 2: when they initially arrive in Utah, Mary and Brianna, I
- 26:17Speaker 2: think They're at like her mom's house or something, and
- 26:20Speaker 2: Leon and her mom are cooking in the kitchen. Mary
- 26:24Speaker 2: and Brionna come in the living room and they immediately
- 26:26Speaker 2: say hi to the dog. We have a comment from
- 26:28Speaker 2: Leon that's like, why don't you say how to me
- 26:31Speaker 2: first and not the fucking dog? Essentially, so Leon is
- 26:34Speaker 2: already bitter man. Like you can tell, Leon is just angry,
- 26:39Speaker 2: and it has been for a while. And I think
- 26:40Speaker 2: a lot of that is justified because we know Leon
- 26:44Speaker 2: was privy to a lot of these conversations that Mary
- 26:46Speaker 2: was having with Sam slash Jackie and was exposed to
- 26:50Speaker 2: probably too much of it, and had to keep a
- 26:52Speaker 2: lot of the secrets, probably for the rest of the family.
- 26:55Speaker 2: And so they are rightfully upset. And so Leon comes
- 26:59Speaker 2: out of the kitchen, Hi to Mary. You can already
- 27:01Speaker 2: feel attention. Mary sits down to have dinner with Leon
- 27:05Speaker 2: and puts Brianna right in the middle of them. And
- 27:08Speaker 2: I kind of feel bad for brion a little bit
- 27:10Speaker 2: because instead of Solomon being the buffer, now it's Brianna
- 27:14Speaker 2: being the buffer and it can't really be like that
- 27:17Speaker 2: fun of a vacation.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Well a slight correction there, Mary sits down with her
- 27:22Speaker 1: food on the couch and Leon enters and Mary says,
- 27:27Speaker 1: sit close to me. Mary invites Leon to sit close. Yeah,
- 27:31Speaker 1: sits away from Mary. Then Brionna comes in, and Brionna
- 27:34Speaker 1: sits in the middle of the two. But I think
- 27:37Speaker 1: Mary was hoping that in that moment they could sit
- 27:40Speaker 1: together and talk. But you could tell body language forced space.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Leon doesn't want it.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Leon ain't into it, and I do.
- 27:48Speaker 2: I will say I do feel for Mary in that
- 27:50Speaker 2: because I can understand how painful it would be, especially
- 27:53Speaker 2: with Leon being their only child, to have this distance
- 27:56Speaker 2: between the two of them. I totally get it. And
- 27:58Speaker 2: it sucks that out of everything that Mary has gone
- 28:02Speaker 2: through this last year or whatever with the catfish, now
- 28:05Speaker 2: she doesn't even have a relationship with her kid, and
- 28:08Speaker 2: that does suck. I do get it. I think that
- 28:10Speaker 2: Mary is coming over here in earnest. I don't even
- 28:12Speaker 2: think she's like coming over there to be mad at
- 28:16Speaker 2: Leon for Leon's reaction or anything. I think for the
- 28:19Speaker 2: most part, Mary is pretty understanding of Leon being frustrated
- 28:23Speaker 2: at her. She just wants to talk about it, and
- 28:25Speaker 2: she just wants to work.
- 28:26Speaker 1: It okay, So flag on the play there. Yeah, because
- 28:30Speaker 1: if I knew there was this huge thing that was
- 28:35Speaker 1: between me and my child that I had caused, and
- 28:40Speaker 1: I was also on a show that millions of people watched,
- 28:45Speaker 1: I would not want to have a conversation like that
- 28:48Speaker 1: on camera.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh for sure.
- 28:50Speaker 1: For me, it felt like Leon and Mary have not
- 28:53Speaker 1: had the very important conversation, and so Mary's now taking
- 28:56Speaker 1: the cameras up to Utah to have some semblance of
- 29:00Speaker 1: conversation in front of the nation. Of course Leon is
- 29:04Speaker 1: going to think that is awkward. Of course Leon's going
- 29:07Speaker 1: to question that. I question that, why are you doing that? Mary?
- 29:10Speaker 1: Why aren't you trying to have private conversations with your
- 29:13Speaker 1: child instead of on camera? Is what we're doing in Utah. Therefore,
- 29:18Speaker 1: you attempting to rehab your public image and using Leon
- 29:23Speaker 1: to do that. Maybe, and Leon, being the smart mofo
- 29:27Speaker 1: that they are, Leon's going to know that. Lean I's
- 29:30Speaker 1: gonna sniff that right out, and Leon's not going to
- 29:32Speaker 1: want to do that. So I just I was questioning
- 29:35Speaker 1: what Mary was actually doing in Utah here.
- 29:37Speaker 2: That's a fair point, actually, and I didn't even really
- 29:40Speaker 2: think about it with the camera angle on that, But yeah,
- 29:43Speaker 2: why are you having this intimate conversation with your child
- 29:46Speaker 2: who is very obviously upset and hurt by your actions
- 29:50Speaker 2: and by the way that this has gone down in
- 29:53Speaker 2: the public eye and at home probably, And now you're
- 29:56Speaker 2: going to try and have a conversation with them when
- 29:58Speaker 2: they very obviously don't want to talk about it. And
- 30:00Speaker 2: Leon even says in this episode that they haven't had
- 30:03Speaker 2: a decent conversation with Mary in like over a year
- 30:06Speaker 2: at this point, right, which means that like they aren't
- 30:09Speaker 2: really talking. It's probably very surface levels, small talk shit.
- 30:12Speaker 2: They haven't talked about any of the issues, probably any
- 30:16Speaker 2: of the catfish stuff. Maybe Leon has probably blown up
- 30:19Speaker 2: at Mary for it and then maybe put down their
- 30:23Speaker 2: own walls, like walls of doctors, right, And it probably
- 30:27Speaker 2: helps that Leon is up in Utah and has some
- 30:30Speaker 2: distance from Mary.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Well, and when you look at the timeline, I think
- 30:34Speaker 1: the way that Mary's referring to it is that it
- 30:37Speaker 1: happened in the summertime. Yeah, and Mary's going up to
- 30:40Speaker 1: Utah and what's obviously the winter because there's snow on
- 30:43Speaker 1: the ground. I'm not sure exactly what month Mary's there,
- 30:46Speaker 1: but it's only been like six months or so, and
- 30:49Speaker 1: so of course Leon is still in their reaction.
- 30:52Speaker 2: To it totally. And for Leon, it's been going on
- 30:55Speaker 2: a lot longer because they were listening to all of
- 30:57Speaker 2: these conversations, and Leon.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Really listening to all the conversations.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Well, we hear that from Leon. We hear that from
- 31:04Speaker 2: Mary as well in this episode that Leon said to
- 31:07Speaker 2: Mary from the very beginning, when Mary was making this
- 31:10Speaker 2: friendship and having this relationship, Leon told Mary, don't do it.
- 31:15Speaker 2: I told you from the very beginning, don't have this
- 31:17Speaker 2: relationship with this person, and yet you still did it.
- 31:20Speaker 2: You didn't care about my feelings, you didn't care about
- 31:22Speaker 2: anybody else's feelings, and you disregarded my opinion on the
- 31:25Speaker 2: whole thing, and you betrayed my trust. And so that's
- 31:27Speaker 2: where Leon's coming from. Mary does acknowledge in this episode
- 31:32Speaker 2: that she thought she was protecting Leon from this situation.
- 31:37Speaker 1: She thought, how, I don't know by what second on
- 31:41Speaker 1: a banana at our tub and drunk, calling him at
- 31:44Speaker 1: two in the morning and telling him that you love him.
- 31:46Speaker 1: How are you protecting Leon?
- 31:48Speaker 2: I don't know, Like maybe because your bedroom door was closed,
- 31:51Speaker 2: you thought that Leon couldn't tell what was going on.
- 31:53Speaker 2: I don't fucking know. But Mary says, according to Mary
- 31:57Speaker 2: that she thought she was protecting them, she thought that
- 32:00Speaker 2: she was keeping Leon from this situation, but she very
- 32:04Speaker 2: honestly didn't. And Mary does, in her own way, acknowledge
- 32:09Speaker 2: that she hurt Leon, and she really just wants to
- 32:13Speaker 2: talk to Leon about it and try and work on it.
- 32:16Speaker 2: But like, to your point, why on camera, h why
- 32:19Speaker 2: in the middle of the winter, why are you taking
- 32:20Speaker 2: Leon on a walk with their dog with snow on
- 32:23Speaker 2: the ground and sitting on some fucking concrete slab of
- 32:26Speaker 2: like a public bathroom or something in a park, right,
- 32:29Speaker 2: and trying to have this conversation with them very poorly,
- 32:32Speaker 2: I might add.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's another thing. So they go on this
- 32:37Speaker 1: walk with mose By the little dog and key stuff,
- 32:41Speaker 1: and they sit in this concrete stage in the middle
- 32:44Speaker 1: of fucking nowhere in the hinterlands of Siberia. It looks
- 32:48Speaker 1: so cold, and Mary tries to initiate the conversation like, oh,
- 32:54Speaker 1: how have you been house school? Yeah, like like just
- 32:58Speaker 1: dancing around the that is in the middle of them,
- 33:02Speaker 1: and she never just comes right out and says, hey,
- 33:06Speaker 1: I would really love to talk with you. And if
- 33:09Speaker 1: you don't want to talk, that's okay, But can I
- 33:12Speaker 1: just say a few things to you. She doesn't open
- 33:15Speaker 1: it like a mature mom would, a mature mom who
- 33:20Speaker 1: knows they fucked up. Yeah, and they know their kid
- 33:25Speaker 1: knows that they fucked up. I just didn't under it.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Was a mystery to me how she handled that, because
- 33:32Speaker 1: it really did feel like she was hoping Leon would
- 33:35Speaker 1: lead the conversation. Yeah, like Leon would enter the chat
- 33:39Speaker 1: and ask a bunch of questions that Mary could then
- 33:42Speaker 1: feel and that would be the conversation. It's like she
- 33:44Speaker 1: didn't plan. No, she didn't think about the things that
- 33:47Speaker 1: she was going to be saying to the person who
- 33:50Speaker 1: is the most important person in her entire life. It
- 33:54Speaker 1: was such weird business to me, Beatrice, I didn't understand it.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Yeah. Leon straight up calls it out in this episode,
- 34:00Speaker 2: saying like, it's like mom wants me to do the work,
- 34:04Speaker 2: Like Mom hurt my feelings and now she expects me
- 34:07Speaker 2: to fix it, Like I'm not gonna fucking fix it.
- 34:10Speaker 2: And Leon straight up cries to the camera and says like,
- 34:13Speaker 2: you know, I know that my mom wants my forgiveness.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I know that my mom wants me to try and understand,
- 34:18Speaker 2: but like, I'm straight up not in a place to
- 34:21Speaker 2: forgive her at this moment, and I don't want to
- 34:23Speaker 2: talk about it. Like I've got a lot of feelings.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I'm really upset by it, and I got to work
- 34:28Speaker 2: on that within myself. And that's what I appreciated about
- 34:31Speaker 2: Leon in this episode was Leon said that over and
- 34:34Speaker 2: over again and even said it to Mary of like, look,
- 34:37Speaker 2: it's not even a you issue, it's me. I want
- 34:39Speaker 2: to be able to talk about it with you without
- 34:41Speaker 2: getting so upset. And I'm really not at a place
- 34:44Speaker 2: where I can do that right now, Like I just
- 34:46Speaker 2: can't cause I'm fucking pissed off at you, bitch, right
- 34:49Speaker 2: and I.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Know I'm about to pop off. Yeah, And I don't
- 34:52Speaker 1: want to hurt you, because no matter what's happened, I
- 34:55Speaker 1: still love you, Mom, and I appreciate it Leon did
- 34:58Speaker 1: go out of their way to say that. Yeah, that
- 35:01Speaker 1: was a real tough conversation. I really really felt for
- 35:05Speaker 1: Leon in that moment. And then when everybody was in
- 35:10Speaker 1: the Lehigh House, which happened before the talk, Mary sends
- 35:15Speaker 1: Leon into their old room and Leon goes in and
- 35:20Speaker 1: is looking around and it's just like the memories of
- 35:22Speaker 1: that place and the idyllic family structure that Leon thought
- 35:27Speaker 1: that they had. And then we have some really interesting
- 35:30Speaker 1: interstitials from Leon where they're talking about how their faith
- 35:34Speaker 1: has entirely changed. I really wish they talked about that
- 35:38Speaker 1: a little bit more, because as we all remember, we
- 35:41Speaker 1: remember when Leon was like the biggest proponent for polygamy
- 35:46Speaker 1: and was always talking about how they wanted to be
- 35:48Speaker 1: in a polygamous relationship and they didn't know which spouse
- 35:54Speaker 1: they wanted to be, like one, two, or three, and
- 35:57Speaker 1: they had all of these designs to stay in the faith. Well,
- 36:01Speaker 1: then Leon went to school, and Leon's like, I got educated.
- 36:06Speaker 1: I learned actual things that you learn at a real school.
- 36:10Speaker 1: And so I began to question a lot of the
- 36:13Speaker 1: things that I'd been told and I just don't believe
- 36:16Speaker 1: the same way anymore. And I was like, awesome, I
- 36:18Speaker 1: love this. Do you construct on TLC? But also can
- 36:23Speaker 1: we go into that a little bit more. And of
- 36:25Speaker 1: course I'm sitting there always wondering, waving my little flag
- 36:29Speaker 1: over here, like, oh, have you had your first yeah experience?
- 36:34Speaker 1: The answer is yes, have you had your first gay experience?
- 36:37Speaker 1: I want to hear all about that of course I'm
- 36:39Speaker 1: not entitled to that information, but I was wondering.
- 36:42Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure Leon comes out in like the next
- 36:44Speaker 2: season or two, yeah, because it's pretty quick, and it
- 36:47Speaker 2: was kind of right after they went to college. And
- 36:50Speaker 2: I did appreciate their reflection on that, Like they did
- 36:53Speaker 2: say they moved up to Utah specifically for that reason
- 36:56Speaker 2: to be closer to their church and to be a
- 36:58Speaker 2: part of their community that they had grown up because
- 37:00Speaker 2: they did idolize it at one point, and then Leon
- 37:04Speaker 2: straight up is like, I don't believe none of that
- 37:05Speaker 2: shit no more. And I'm like, okay, cool. And that
- 37:08Speaker 2: also speaks to Leon's frame of mind in this moment too,
- 37:12Speaker 2: because they are deconstructing all of this shit that they
- 37:15Speaker 2: grew up with, they are also having to grapple with
- 37:18Speaker 2: the idea that their family is not the same family
- 37:21Speaker 2: that they grew up with and that things have definitely
- 37:23Speaker 2: changed and shifted. They're in the house that they they
- 37:27Speaker 2: didn't really grow up there. I thought that they had
- 37:28Speaker 2: lived there for a really long time, but apparently they
- 37:30Speaker 2: were only there for a couple of years. But like
- 37:33Speaker 2: all of those memories are coming up, Leon says something
- 37:35Speaker 2: like this was the biggest room that I ever had,
- 37:37Speaker 2: and it was like the best room. And I felt
- 37:39Speaker 2: that as like a kid who moved around a lot,
- 37:41Speaker 2: like you know, you do kind of hold onto those
- 37:44Speaker 2: like specific moments in your life of like, oh, this
- 37:47Speaker 2: was like a really nice time, and so revisiting that
- 37:52Speaker 2: with this estrangement between their mom, like, that's so much
- 37:57Speaker 2: to carry inside. And so I respect the fact that
- 38:01Speaker 2: Leon just doesn't really want to have this conversation with
- 38:03Speaker 2: Mary right now because they don't know how they feel
- 38:06Speaker 2: and they're totally entitled to be upset and to be
- 38:09Speaker 2: frustrated with Mary and to have their feelings hurt whatever.
- 38:14Speaker 2: I did feel for Mary in the sense that it
- 38:17Speaker 2: seemed like, at least on camera, Mary was trying to
- 38:21Speaker 2: be a mom of like I just want to be there.
- 38:23Speaker 2: I want to talk it out with you, and I
- 38:25Speaker 2: want to work this out because I love you and
- 38:26Speaker 2: I miss you. And Mary says that a couple times
- 38:29Speaker 2: throughout this episode, of like I just want Leon to
- 38:32Speaker 2: come back to me a little bit. And I really
- 38:34Speaker 2: did feel for Mary and that I did, and I
- 38:36Speaker 2: understand that that's really painful and stuff, but like that's
- 38:39Speaker 2: one of the hardest things I think that any parent
- 38:42Speaker 2: or child has to go through in their life, Like
- 38:44Speaker 2: when you get hurt by a parent, it's like one
- 38:46Speaker 2: of those really crazy experiences because you feel so much.
- 38:50Speaker 2: And I know, this is a kid who was hurt
- 38:52Speaker 2: by my parents, and I was in therapy for a
- 38:54Speaker 2: really long time, and I was really fucking angry at
- 38:58Speaker 2: my parents for a really long time, like for many years,
- 39:00Speaker 2: to the point where I wasn't talking to them and
- 39:02Speaker 2: I was really distant. And I look back on that
- 39:05Speaker 2: now with a different perspective of like, man, I've probably
- 39:07Speaker 2: really heard my parents' feelings from being really distant from them.
- 39:11Speaker 2: But I needed that time to figure my shit out.
- 39:15Speaker 2: And I think Leon needs their time right now to
- 39:17Speaker 2: figure their shit out, because they're very obviously mad at Mary,
- 39:21Speaker 2: and it is what it is.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Well, But then there was the petty part of me
- 39:26Speaker 1: that was listening to Leon talk about how they're an adult.
- 39:31Speaker 1: I'm twenty one years old now, and every time I
- 39:34Speaker 1: go home, you know, Mary doesn't let me be an adult,
- 39:39Speaker 1: just trying to baby me all the time, and I'm
- 39:42Speaker 1: an adult now. There's just that petulant part of Leon,
- 39:46Speaker 1: that entitled part of Leon, and I just kind of
- 39:49Speaker 1: wanted to raise my hand a little and say, you're
- 39:51Speaker 1: twenty one years old. Who's paying for your car, who's
- 39:54Speaker 1: paying for your education, who's paying for all of your
- 39:58Speaker 1: side things? I mean, maybe you have a I don't know,
- 40:00Speaker 1: but isn't it Mary. I don't think it's Cody. I
- 40:03Speaker 1: don't think it's Robin and any of your other moms.
- 40:08Speaker 1: I think it's Mary. And irrespective of the fact that
- 40:11Speaker 1: Mary did a really bad thing that was completely out
- 40:14Speaker 1: of integrity, if you are an adult, you should be
- 40:17Speaker 1: able to appreciate the fact that Mary is completely subsidizing
- 40:20Speaker 1: your entire life. And then I started thinking through the timeline,
- 40:23Speaker 1: because again, this is the season I actually started watching
- 40:26Speaker 1: Sister Wives, and I'm trying to remember a moment where
- 40:30Speaker 1: Leon comes back around and says, you know what, Mom,
- 40:34Speaker 1: I was really pissed back then, and I feel like
- 40:37Speaker 1: I have every right to be. But the reality was
- 40:40Speaker 1: you were an estrange wife. My father was neglecting you,
- 40:45Speaker 1: you were not loved, and there was so much that
- 40:48Speaker 1: you were going through that I couldn't fully grasp because
- 40:51Speaker 1: I was in a cult, you know, and I was
- 40:53Speaker 1: in this family structure that I thought was perfectly normal,
- 40:55Speaker 1: and I couldn't really see you for the woman that
- 40:57Speaker 1: you are, and so I just really want to tell
- 40:59Speaker 1: you that it's all good. I forgive you, I love you.
- 41:03Speaker 1: I understand why this happened to you, and I feel
- 41:06Speaker 1: really bad that it did. I just I don't recall
- 41:09Speaker 1: a conversation where they fully let Mary off the hook,
- 41:14Speaker 1: and I really wish they would. I think Mary deserves it.
- 41:18Speaker 2: I think that if you're going to portray yourself as
- 41:20Speaker 2: this fully enlightened being, like you're better than everybody else
- 41:23Speaker 2: and you're so mature or whatever, then you should have
- 41:26Speaker 2: that conversation with your parent. But at the same time,
- 41:29Speaker 2: I don't really feel like Mary is entitled to that,
- 41:31Speaker 2: because it's not Leon's responsibility right to like validate Mary's
- 41:35Speaker 2: experience that way, Like you can have empathy for your
- 41:38Speaker 2: parent as a human being that is flawed and as
- 41:41Speaker 2: their own lore and has their own story and as
- 41:44Speaker 2: a person that fucks up, but it's also not Leon's
- 41:47Speaker 2: responsibility to like give that to Mary. But I do
- 41:50Speaker 2: think that because Leon portrays themselves as this super enlightened
- 41:55Speaker 2: being that knows better than everybody and has the correct
- 41:58Speaker 2: perspective on everything, Yeah, you should can have that kind
- 42:00Speaker 2: of compassion.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Oh my god, sidebar. Has anybody seen I think it's
- 42:06Speaker 1: is it Leon's substack or is it? Yeah, Leon's patreon?
- 42:11Speaker 2: Which one? The patreon is where they do their little
- 42:13Speaker 2: Yogi meditations.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Leon's a yogi now, yeah, conducting meditation.
- 42:19Speaker 2: I hate that, dude.
- 42:21Speaker 1: They're helping the population ascend to another dimension where everybody's like, Leon,
- 42:28Speaker 1: I'll stay right here, thank you. Oh yeah, right here,
- 42:31Speaker 1: thank you.
- 42:32Speaker 2: But I mean the apple doesn't fall far from the
- 42:34Speaker 2: tree because Mary hashtag worthy of. And also Mary said
- 42:38Speaker 2: a comment in this episode when they were at the
- 42:40Speaker 2: Lehigh House saying that this was where she started her
- 42:42Speaker 2: self improvement journey and I'm like, really.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Where's my mon? Where's my raccoon? Monels? Where did you
- 42:47Speaker 1: start that journey? Where? Like self improvement?
- 42:51Speaker 2: How? And she also said that this was when she
- 42:54Speaker 2: started going back to college when Leon was twelve, And
- 42:57Speaker 2: I'm like, didn't you have a conversation in I guess
- 43:00Speaker 2: about how you wanted to go back to school? So
- 43:01Speaker 2: you started college, got some student debt, and then dropped
- 43:04Speaker 2: out and stopped going.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Girl, I don't know, it's like the time I may
- 43:08Speaker 1: clarify anything we should read their first book. We should,
- 43:12Speaker 1: we still haven't. We had read over there, we still
- 43:14Speaker 1: haven't read it. But maybe maybe it explains it, but
- 43:17Speaker 1: I don't know, honey.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Maybe we should read it for Patreon. Honestly, we really
- 43:20Speaker 2: should do a bit club for it.
- 43:21Speaker 1: But we're actually we dive deep when we read books.
- 43:23Speaker 1: And you know, the next book we're going to do, though,
- 43:25Speaker 1: is Falling Goslin's Yes, I can't wait. Is it in
- 43:28Speaker 1: the Shadow of eight?
- 43:29Speaker 2: I think it? Yeah, And it's coming out in an October,
- 43:31Speaker 2: right October, bitch.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I saw it in a free order on my Kindle
- 43:36Speaker 1: and I was like, should I? I don't know.
- 43:38Speaker 2: You could buy it?
- 43:38Speaker 1: I could buy it. I shouldn't. It's a business. It's
- 43:41Speaker 1: a business, that's right. That's the next book we're going
- 43:46Speaker 1: to do for sure.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Facts But yeah, So anyway, this conversation leaves off with
- 43:51Speaker 2: Leon telling Mary that they love them and that they
- 43:54Speaker 2: don't want Mary to think that they don't love them,
- 43:57Speaker 2: and Leon does apologize for their eyebrow comment because earlier
- 44:01Speaker 2: in the episode we didn't really touch on it, but
- 44:03Speaker 2: Leon had said something really mean to Mary, saying, you know,
- 44:06Speaker 2: why do you always draw your eyebrows so fucking thin,
- 44:09Speaker 2: like they're they're really weird, and I just felt like
- 44:12Speaker 2: that was so.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Entirely just fell silent, and Rianna said something like, that's
- 44:18Speaker 1: a mean question.
- 44:19Speaker 2: That's so mean, and it's so like juvenile, Like that's
- 44:22Speaker 2: the kind of shit that I said to my mom
- 44:24Speaker 2: when I was like going through my first period at
- 44:26Speaker 2: fourteen years old.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Sometimes Leon h hit and that's just a fact, Like.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Leon, you're twenty one and you're gonna make a comment
- 44:32Speaker 2: like that, Like, okay, but this is the enlightened Leon Brown, right.
- 44:37Speaker 2: I will say, for the most part, I did empathize
- 44:39Speaker 2: with them for this episode. I understand that they're frustrated,
- 44:43Speaker 2: and I understand it's a difficult spot to be because
- 44:45Speaker 2: Leon does say throughout the episode that they understand that
- 44:49Speaker 2: Mary really does want to work on things with them.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Leon's just not ready and that's fair and that's valid.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Seevesplea is it very big? It's a cee Julie's cony. See.
- 45:06Speaker 2: So then we get to the preview for next week's
- 45:08Speaker 2: episode and it looks like it's gonna be boring as fuck.
- 45:10Speaker 1: After this one, didn't I say, They'll give you a
- 45:12Speaker 1: good one. And then they'll give you a filler episode,
- 45:15Speaker 1: and then maybe a couple of decent ones and then
- 45:17Speaker 1: a filler episode.
- 45:19Speaker 2: It's literally next week's gonna be such a filler episode.
- 45:21Speaker 2: So we're gonna have like a five minute recap because
- 45:23Speaker 2: it's about Maddy going to her wedding dress fitting and
- 45:26Speaker 2: everybody cries, and then Robin giving birth to Ari and
- 45:30Speaker 2: Cony and Cody telling her to breathe, and Robin's like,
- 45:37Speaker 2: shut the fuck up.
- 45:38Speaker 1: You're not breathing. Someone doesn't get this man out of
- 45:42Speaker 1: this room, so woll's go die today.
- 45:44Speaker 2: I wanted to ask you about that as somebody who
- 45:46Speaker 2: has given birth, because I don't have any experience with that.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Did your husband at the time tell you dumb shit
- 45:51Speaker 2: like that, like just breathe, honey.
- 45:53Speaker 1: No, okay, I didn't go to Lama's or anything like that. Yeah,
- 45:58Speaker 1: I was fully planning to get all the drugs. Yeah,
- 46:01Speaker 1: I was fully planning to get the epidural, but that
- 46:05Speaker 1: was botched and I didn't get the epidural, so I
- 46:07Speaker 1: had to have like a natural birth, but I took
- 46:09Speaker 1: it a little what I said. Oh, yeah, I did
- 46:13Speaker 1: have a natural birth, but I had some drugs for
- 46:15Speaker 1: a period of time. No, he was very good that
- 46:18Speaker 1: he stayed here at my shoulder so he didn't see
- 46:21Speaker 1: what was going on.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Because he didn't want to.
- 46:24Speaker 1: We're going to keep this from s no way. So No,
- 46:29Speaker 1: he was really good. That's good.
- 46:31Speaker 2: I've been seeing so many like reels and stuff lately
- 46:33Speaker 2: of these like bitch ass gen z husbands who like
- 46:36Speaker 2: bring their xboxes to the labor and delivery room and
- 46:39Speaker 2: they're just like playing video gathering pizzas, ordering pizza, and
- 46:42Speaker 2: then falling asleep after their wife gives birth. And I'm
- 46:45Speaker 2: just like, the way.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Can you imagine the nurses, the labor and delivery nurses
- 46:51Speaker 1: just probably in a total rage that they can't actually express.
- 46:55Speaker 2: I just cared, and apparently it's so common nowadays.
- 46:58Speaker 1: And I'm just like, women, why are you tolerant that
- 47:00Speaker 1: I don't stand up? God? Stand up? Every single man
- 47:04Speaker 1: I've ever been married to me has been a little
- 47:07Speaker 1: afraid of me, and rightly so it would none of
- 47:10Speaker 1: those tricks that'll be so anyway, that's it. Yeah, good
- 47:16Speaker 1: episode though. Yeah, I got a lot out of it
- 47:19Speaker 1: that I needed to get. Is there anything else that
- 47:23Speaker 1: we want to say to these.
- 47:24Speaker 2: Beautiful we love our podcast, please give us a five
- 47:28Speaker 2: star review and your favorite podcast platform. It would really
- 47:30Speaker 2: help us groll the pon. And also, we're gonna be
- 47:32Speaker 2: talked about some current events this week, right.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Yes, we're gonna stop this now so that we'll just
- 47:37Speaker 1: keep it into like a sacred Sister Wives bubble.
- 47:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:40Speaker 1: And then we're gonna have another video in which we
- 47:42Speaker 1: talk about some of the things we're geeking out about
- 47:44Speaker 1: and or just that we want to discuss. That'll be
- 47:47Speaker 1: up on YouTube and on our podcast platforms later this week.
- 47:52Speaker 1: But Patreon gets first. Yeah, Patreon will get that first. Yeah.
- 47:55Speaker 1: And so until we come back with that, please do
- 47:58Speaker 1: not forget that we have nothing but love for you
- 48:01Speaker 1: and pee.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Mighty bogat
- 48:10Speaker 1: Mm hmm
