- 0:12Speaker 1: This was like a freaking this was this was this
- 0:16Speaker 1: is involved, This is like, this is bad.
- 0:19Speaker 3: This is worse than bad.
- 0:20Speaker 2: It's not, it's not. I don't need to go to
- 0:22Speaker 2: the hospital. But I definitely didn't put it in.

- 0:36Speaker 2: Donald, This is me and who's filling in for Daniel today?
- 0:40Speaker 3: Mea three blacks against one white? We went.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Why why is it? Why is it to be about that? Donald? Well,
- 0:53Speaker 2: just so y'all don't In case you don't know, this
- 0:55Speaker 2: is what sunburn is.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Mmmm oh yeah it does. Listen, Black people get sunburnt too.
- 1:02Speaker 3: You notice we do.
- 1:03Speaker 2: We do really well, maybe very anybody. I don't know.
- 1:06Speaker 1: You get something that y'all motherfuckers don't get. It's the worst.
- 1:08Speaker 1: It's called heat rash.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, I've seen you get red actually on
- 1:13Speaker 2: holiday together red.
- 1:15Speaker 3: But we get heat rash too.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I have a question, and this is naive, but do
- 1:20Speaker 2: do black people need to be as conscious about wearing
- 1:24Speaker 2: sun block?
- 1:25Speaker 4: Yes? Where sunblock?
- 1:27Speaker 5: Hell?
- 1:27Speaker 3: Yeah, man, that should have killed us.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Now, sun block that very specifically four black.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Skin everybody, because I don't know that's the subject.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Bro, black people out there who feel like I don't
- 1:40Speaker 1: need sun block. I'm black. My melanie is gonna protect me.
- 1:43Speaker 1: It'll protect you from burning, but it ain't gonna protect
- 1:47Speaker 1: you from that cancer.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Get you that sun block on youall for real?
- 1:52Speaker 2: Well don't Well, what are your thoughts on this topic?
- 1:55Speaker 4: Skin cancer prevalent in the black community? Wear sunscreen? There's
- 1:58Speaker 4: also a ton of really great sunscreen that works for
- 2:00Speaker 4: black skins. So you have that like white ghostly cast
- 2:03Speaker 4: over your skin.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel more protected with that. I feel like
- 2:08Speaker 1: that chalk shit protects you more than that other ship. Like,
- 2:11Speaker 1: straight up, it sounds horrible, it sounds white. It's sound
- 2:17Speaker 1: like a nigga want to be white now, But for real,
- 2:19Speaker 1: I feel like that chalk shit do.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Protect you a little bit better because the chalk.
- 2:24Speaker 2: But you don't need to have the white stuff on
- 2:26Speaker 2: your face. I don't I don't use that stuff. I
- 2:29Speaker 2: just use regular SPF. Dan couldn't make it today, audience, Joelle,
- 2:34Speaker 2: how have you been?
- 2:36Speaker 4: I think, man, great, really kick it loving this summer.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I see Megan. I think you're talking about that last time.
- 2:41Speaker 4: But she's shaking buttling great. And I got tickets to
- 2:44Speaker 4: see Usher Halloween with my mom. You're really excited about
- 2:49Speaker 4: so living it up, limit it up. You were just
- 2:51Speaker 4: on vacation Reasa.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I was in mom talk for a while. Yeah, and
- 2:57Speaker 2: it's so it was so beautiful at a good time.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Was brought a bunch of friends, including Sarah Chalk, who
- 3:02Speaker 2: was always full.
- 3:03Speaker 4: On vacation.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Vacation.
- 3:06Speaker 2: She's just so silly.
- 3:08Speaker 1: It's just a lot of fun.
- 3:09Speaker 2: It's like having a gesture.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know about it. She's not a fool.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Well, I think she's a little bit of a fool.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Did you come back with any great Sarah stories to
- 3:22Speaker 4: share with us?
- 3:23Speaker 2: Anything?
- 3:25Speaker 3: I can't tell somebody.
- 3:27Speaker 2: No, I won't tell anything private, but I will tell
- 3:29Speaker 2: you that, like, yeah, there's definitely several times where she
- 3:32Speaker 2: got something caught in her throat and we were like,
- 3:34Speaker 2: what is She's like there's something in my throat and
- 3:36Speaker 2: we all start getting nervous and then we're like, there's
- 3:38Speaker 2: nothing in your throat. Just swallow, have some water, and
- 3:41Speaker 2: like in fact, like something really weird, like like you
- 3:44Speaker 2: know how they put like flower like flowers as on
- 3:48Speaker 2: food like that you're at her edible, like a tiny
- 3:51Speaker 2: tiny stem got caught like in a visible part of
- 3:54Speaker 2: her throat and she's like, I can't get it dislodged
- 3:59Speaker 2: and uh. And someone was like, someone was like, go
- 4:02Speaker 2: get Tweezers, and she was like, oh, and so someone went,
- 4:05Speaker 2: god Tweezers. And then people were holding up their iPhones
- 4:07Speaker 2: and then someone went in and they plucked out the
- 4:09Speaker 2: little stem that was like just sitting behind next to
- 4:12Speaker 2: her lap. Every time, everything, without fail, without fail, everything
- 4:17Speaker 2: happens with Sarah.
- 4:18Speaker 1: You know, a lot of people believe that some of
- 4:21Speaker 1: these stories are made up, because you know, every time
- 4:25Speaker 1: you talk to her, it's okay.
- 4:27Speaker 3: So this is what happened.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I was in the restroom and all of a sudden,
- 4:32Speaker 1: an alligator came out of a baby alligator came out
- 4:35Speaker 1: of the toilet hole. You're not going to be almost
- 4:37Speaker 1: bit me on my cuckoo. I was like, oh my god.
- 4:40Speaker 2: It's the police in Vancouver. The Mounties say, it's never
- 4:43Speaker 2: happened before.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Alligators in the winter.
- 4:47Speaker 2: What Another thing I realized about Sarah is that she
- 4:49Speaker 2: has this bit of a tick that she does where
- 4:52Speaker 2: she goes into whisper mode. Even if you're sitting alone
- 4:56Speaker 2: in a big house in a living room and no
- 4:58Speaker 2: one's there and you're like, you ask her some question,
- 5:02Speaker 2: like oh, whatever happened with that story you told me?
- 5:04Speaker 2: And even if it's not even if it's not a secret,
- 5:06Speaker 2: but if let's say it's mildly serious, she just whispers.
- 5:09Speaker 2: She switches to whisper mode. She's like, oh, so I
- 5:12Speaker 2: didn't tell you what happened with John and Sarah. We
- 5:15Speaker 2: are in mom talk in that house, like no one
- 5:19Speaker 2: can hear us, and even the people that are here
- 5:22Speaker 2: don't know the story, Like there's no need for you
- 5:25Speaker 2: to be whispering. But even after I called around and
- 5:28Speaker 2: jokes about it, she did it like ten more times.
- 5:31Speaker 2: It's just even if you like, if it's not silly silly,
- 5:35Speaker 2: she's loud and she's being stupid and she's being like
- 5:37Speaker 2: crazy Sarah. The second you're like, oh wait, I think
- 5:40Speaker 2: I burned my chest. She goes, Oh, did I ever
- 5:42Speaker 2: tell you that mine sister once burned her chest so bad? Like?
- 5:47Speaker 2: Why the fuck you whispering?
- 5:54Speaker 4: Wait, you guysn't seen Johnny SE's new podcast yet.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Johnny Seeds killing it.
- 5:59Speaker 4: I know it's I know we did. Nobody talked to
- 6:03Speaker 4: us about him.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I know we got it.
- 6:07Speaker 2: We got listening. I got to give a shout. Joelle
- 6:09Speaker 2: remind me, we got to talk to will about folding
- 6:11Speaker 2: Johnny c into the iHeart family, because I want to
- 6:15Speaker 2: thank you Joel for reminding me to give a shout out. JOHNNYE.
- 6:17Speaker 2: McGinley just kind of went rogue on his own. I'd
- 6:22Speaker 2: meant rogue meaning not affiliated with any companies. I understand
- 6:25Speaker 2: and start. He knows so many smart, amazing, creative people.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I imagine he got inspired by us. I would assume
- 6:32Speaker 2: I have no idea, but he started interviewing some of
- 6:34Speaker 2: his friends and he's getting these huge guests. He just
- 6:38Speaker 2: did a Peter Berg, you know, meg major filmmaker. He
- 6:41Speaker 2: did Eric Wagozian, a wonderful actor writer, and he's obviously
- 6:46Speaker 2: wonderful about it. And they talk about the craft of acting.
- 6:48Speaker 2: It's called connective tissue for those of you who want
- 6:50Speaker 2: to check it out. I want to give Johnny a
- 6:52Speaker 2: shout out, but but also I feel like Joel, we
- 6:56Speaker 2: should talk to Will about bringing him into the iHeart family.
- 6:59Speaker 2: He's really he made something amazing.
- 7:01Speaker 4: It's amazing. I'm obsessed with Eric be Gosi and I've
- 7:03Speaker 4: been watching an interview with a vampire obsessively lately. Eric
- 7:06Speaker 4: plays a reporter on that. He's brilliant, and so that's
- 7:09Speaker 4: kind of how I stumbled into the show. And yeah,
- 7:12Speaker 4: Johnny se some incredible host. Does you know he would be?
- 7:14Speaker 4: He's such a lovely guest every time he's on our show,
- 7:16Speaker 4: so I'm not not too surprised.
- 7:17Speaker 2: But he's also Johnny and Donald can speak to this.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Johnny is so genuinely interested in people, like he's not.
- 7:24Speaker 2: He's the you know these people that are like, how
- 7:25Speaker 2: are you doing?
- 7:25Speaker 4: Oh?
- 7:26Speaker 2: Greg, Greg? Greg, He's the polar opposite. He's like, he
- 7:28Speaker 2: won't sit there and interview.
- 7:30Speaker 1: You listen too. Like that's the great thing about him.
- 7:35Speaker 1: It's like you can tell he's listening his faces. You know,
- 7:40Speaker 1: you can tell when somebody's not listening to you and
- 7:42Speaker 1: when they're trying to get to the next conversation.
- 7:44Speaker 3: He is listening every time.
- 7:47Speaker 1: It could be a party filled with a bunch of
- 7:49Speaker 1: people and you and him, and he's he's.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Locked in on you. Yeah, the whole Christmas birthday party,
- 7:56Speaker 2: Christian Miller's birth part. I didn't se josh Raden the
- 7:58Speaker 2: whole party. I still had the best time. You and
- 8:00Speaker 2: I were dancing. We had the best time. At the
- 8:02Speaker 2: end of the party, like the night's ending, I see Joshua,
- 8:04Speaker 2: where were you? Was like, Oh, I was just in
- 8:05Speaker 2: the corner talking to Johnny. See you said the best.
- 8:08Speaker 2: I'm like, talk to Johnny c. Johnny just locked him
- 8:11Speaker 2: in and like Johnny Seed loves rating. But they he
- 8:14Speaker 2: locked him in and they were like in this intense
- 8:16Speaker 2: conversation the whole time. So anyway, check out connected tissue anyone, Donald,
- 8:19Speaker 2: How are you? You had a big birthday?
- 8:21Speaker 1: I did. I turned fifty. I'm a grown man. Uh
- 8:24Speaker 1: and all of a sudden shit started going wrong. I
- 8:26Speaker 1: got to get my blood pressure down. Exercising is a must.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yeah, well you knew that. You knew. Did a doctor
- 8:33Speaker 2: call you out on your blood pressure?
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yes? I played golf yesterday. I would over five miles.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Let me tell you something right now in my hands. Listen,
- 8:43Speaker 1: I was killing Listen, this is how you know you're
- 8:45Speaker 1: out of shape. People will be people be like, but
- 8:47Speaker 1: golf isn't really that fucking much of an athletic sport, motherfucker.
- 8:51Speaker 3: I walked over five miles yesterday.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Did you carry the bag though?
- 8:56Speaker 1: And I know I pushed it in a cart and
- 8:58Speaker 1: pulled it in a cart, which is heavy. I'm saying,
- 9:02Speaker 1: bowing man, that shit is not no right. So the
- 9:05Speaker 1: first half I was killing it. First nine holes. Donald
- 9:10Speaker 1: Fason was I haven't played in two years. My player's
- 9:14Speaker 1: card said, so two years was the last time I played.
- 9:18Speaker 1: First half of golf. First half of around first nine holes,
- 9:23Speaker 1: I was doing pretty good. I was on target to
- 9:26Speaker 1: be in the seventies. Second half, that shit got long,
- 9:31Speaker 1: that course got and my body could not keep up.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I was literally pouting while playing golf, like, fuck.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Yeah, we got enough hole, then you got all upset.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I didn't get I tried. I kept saying to myself,
- 9:44Speaker 1: stay in the game. You can be angry about the conditions,
- 9:47Speaker 1: and you can be angry about all of this other stuff,
- 9:50Speaker 1: but try and stay in the game. And that was
- 9:52Speaker 1: still hard to do because my body started to fail.
- 9:55Speaker 1: I couldn't get my hips around fast enough. So now
- 9:59Speaker 1: my hands were moving too fast for your hips, lying everything.
- 10:02Speaker 1: My hips were totally lying, totally lying.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I'm glad that you are playing golf. I'm glad you're exercising,
- 10:14Speaker 2: because that's important to me that you stay alive. I
- 10:16Speaker 2: went and had a I had to have a CT
- 10:18Speaker 2: scan in my heart today.
- 10:20Speaker 1: How are you?
- 10:21Speaker 2: My heart's amazing. I gotta tell you this is when
- 10:24Speaker 2: they put they put contrast into your veins. When you
- 10:27Speaker 2: get to be our age. Doctor wants to have a
- 10:30Speaker 2: CT scan of your heart. And also my father had
- 10:34Speaker 2: stants and stuff, so I need to just check check
- 10:36Speaker 2: out whether there's any blockage, and I can show you
- 10:40Speaker 2: a picture. You want to see a picture. This is amazing.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I asked the doctor if I could take a picture.
- 10:45Speaker 2: This is just one of the angle. That's my actual heart.
- 10:48Speaker 4: WHOA, that's crazy, that crazy. Wow, it's surreal.
- 10:53Speaker 2: It was. It was really cool, And I just wanted
- 10:57Speaker 2: to say one thing, since we are fake doctor's real friends.
- 11:00Speaker 2: If you're a if you're a smoker, you might need
- 11:03Speaker 2: to hear this. I realize I've been doing all these
- 11:04Speaker 2: tests just because I'm going to turn I'm forty nine.
- 11:08Speaker 2: I'm on the cusp of turning fifty. Getting every test
- 11:11Speaker 2: you can get done and every single questionnaire every single
- 11:15Speaker 2: doctor without fail. I always noted it all starts with
- 11:18Speaker 2: do you smoke?
- 11:20Speaker 1: You know?
- 11:21Speaker 2: I know, and I'm thinking about you smoker. Someoney out
- 11:24Speaker 2: there listening needs to hear this today. There's a reason
- 11:26Speaker 2: why every single doctor, in every single form starts out
- 11:29Speaker 2: with do you smoke? So stop smoking? Because that's the
- 11:33Speaker 2: first question they all want to know.
- 11:36Speaker 1: No, you know what, you're right, And with my with
- 11:39Speaker 1: my high blood pressure, that was the first question they asked,
- 11:42Speaker 1: you smoke?
- 11:43Speaker 4: You weed?
- 11:44Speaker 1: Okay?
- 11:46Speaker 2: Yeah, Well I'm not sure about I mean, I'm just
- 11:51Speaker 2: always feel I always feel very proud and smug to
- 11:54Speaker 2: write never smoked.
- 11:56Speaker 1: You're a little bit like that man, because you're a
- 11:59Speaker 1: little bit like Okay, gets up in here before we
- 12:02Speaker 1: get up in there.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Yeah, Joelle, have you been watching a Yeah?
- 12:07Speaker 1: Do you like it?
- 12:09Speaker 3: Do you like it?
- 12:12Speaker 4: I like many parts of it. They gave me a
- 12:16Speaker 4: sexy to sith, so I can't complain. There are a
- 12:19Speaker 4: hell of black women want to give it. An outstanding
- 12:20Speaker 4: performance of her career is so beautiful.
- 12:23Speaker 2: It looks good.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Listen, No, listen, it looks good. It's it's what's frustrating
- 12:28Speaker 4: about it is I see all of the potential in
- 12:30Speaker 4: it and it didn't quite hit it, and that is frustrating.
- 12:33Speaker 4: I hope the season two can get to do better
- 12:34Speaker 4: because Leslie headlind is an incredible writer and showrunner. I'm
- 12:37Speaker 4: not sure what happened. I was a budget issuer or
- 12:39Speaker 4: what went sideways. I'm hoping they can't get a best.
- 12:42Speaker 1: So much wrong but that there's so much good and
- 12:44Speaker 1: there's so much wrong with the show man deep there's
- 12:47Speaker 1: so much good, There's so much good, but there's so
- 12:50Speaker 1: much wrong. You know what I mean?
- 12:51Speaker 2: Like, you're watching House of the Dragon.
- 12:53Speaker 4: No, yeah, oh, hell deep In.
- 12:59Speaker 2: And you're watching Us to the Dragon.
- 13:01Speaker 5: I haven't seen Game Thrones, so I'm I've got to
- 13:04Speaker 5: get to that first.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah on your list?
- 13:06Speaker 5: Okay, thank you?
- 13:09Speaker 1: What are you watching? What are the kids your age watching? Yeah?
- 13:11Speaker 2: What is the twenty five year olds watching?
- 13:14Speaker 5: I haven't been watching any series. I go to the
- 13:16Speaker 5: movies a lot.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I go to the theater a lot.
- 13:18Speaker 2: What's the last movie you saw that you liked?
- 13:20Speaker 4: I liked Long legs.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Oh hell yeah, that's horror.
- 13:25Speaker 5: Right, yeah, that's horror.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Nicholas Cage.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Did you Okay, all right, thank you, miam. All right, Joelle.
- 13:32Speaker 2: House of Dragons.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Stunning, stunning.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Not only is it amazing, but there's this companion behind
- 13:39Speaker 2: the scenes series. Are you watching that?
- 13:41Speaker 4: Oh yeah, oh yeah, all of it, all the aspects
- 13:43Speaker 4: of After.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Each episode, they do a twenty minute thing on how
- 13:47Speaker 2: they made it. It's incredible.
- 13:49Speaker 1: My kids and I are watching Stranger Things.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Strangers that's a lovely watch with the children.
- 13:54Speaker 4: That's nice.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Well not season four.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Why they scaring them?
- 13:57Speaker 1: They saw that motherfucker Vicram whatever his name is, and
- 14:01Speaker 1: they got that ship that was the fucking Demi Gordon,
- 14:06Speaker 1: all of that stuff. None of that really scared them.
- 14:09Speaker 1: But then they saw that motherfucker Victrum is that his name, Victim.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Like that whatever it is, that was a rap.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Stranger Things season four took a pause.
- 14:20Speaker 4: They were like, they said, we'll be back when we're
- 14:22Speaker 4: a little older. They got time.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Okay, So look, I feel like there's too much Star Wars.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest with you. WHOA, I feel like
- 14:31Speaker 1: I love it.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Still, That's what I'm talking about.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I kind of feel like there's too much right now.
- 14:38Speaker 2: You're just realizing that.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Well, I mean, too much is the troblem.
- 14:42Speaker 1: It worked for Marvel, like Marvel had a lot going on,
- 14:45Speaker 1: and now we're sideways.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Like if I like raspberries, yeah, and I have raspberry jam,
- 14:53Speaker 2: and I have raspberries on my cereal, and I have
- 14:58Speaker 2: raspberry sun and I have a raspberry taste in my
- 15:02Speaker 2: sparkling water. At a certain point, I'm gonna be sick
- 15:04Speaker 2: of raspberries.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I don't know that's totally fair
- 15:08Speaker 1: in a butter cups, you know what I mean, You're
- 15:09Speaker 1: still like there's certain things that.
- 15:13Speaker 2: I'm saying you're saturated. You as a consumer oversaturated.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I disagree, home boy. I don't think Star Wars is
- 15:21Speaker 1: that not overset.
- 15:21Speaker 3: But I don't think I'm I don't think.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I don't think I'm oversaturated with Star Wars like I don't.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I mean, I think there's too much Star Wars storytelling
- 15:30Speaker 1: right now. I don't. It's hard to explain because my
- 15:34Speaker 1: life is Star Wars. Look at my background Star Wars.
- 15:37Speaker 1: I adamate Star Wars. So I don't think there's too
- 15:40Speaker 1: much Star Wars. But there's too much Star Wars, you
- 15:43Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like it's just like Star Wars total.
- 15:47Speaker 4: And that's the problem, Like there's not enough Star Wars
- 15:50Speaker 4: that is working currently, and that's really the problem. I
- 15:53Speaker 4: feel like with if two shows this year, maybe we
- 15:57Speaker 4: don't even know if we're gonna get the No. Three
- 15:59Speaker 4: potentially three, if they decided to release a skeleton crew
- 16:02Speaker 4: at the end of the year. I think I would
- 16:06Speaker 4: love for them to do a pause like they did
- 16:08Speaker 4: on the movies with the TV shows and be like,
- 16:10Speaker 4: what was really making and Or and I think it's
- 16:13Speaker 4: two of the Mandalorian work.
- 16:15Speaker 2: You hit on the heil, the nail on the head drawl.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I think and Or fucked everything up because.
- 16:21Speaker 4: It really did.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I know. Rogue one is the beginning of it. Rogue
- 16:26Speaker 1: one was the beginning of it because it got a
- 16:28Speaker 1: little bit, it got a little bit more gritty in
- 16:30Speaker 1: Rogue one, and then and Or fucking shot everything down.
- 16:34Speaker 3: And Or.
- 16:34Speaker 2: So I'm watching House House of Dragons, and I know
- 16:38Speaker 2: that that Star Wars needs to be family friendly, I'm told,
- 16:42Speaker 2: But the level of production, the level of filmmaking, design sets, costumes,
- 16:49Speaker 2: script acting, oh my god, if it you know if
- 16:54Speaker 2: Star Wars could be on that level like I think
- 16:56Speaker 2: and Or was, But I mean, you'd have a new
- 16:59Speaker 2: fan in me. This gentleman that we are lucky enough
- 17:02Speaker 2: to have on the show is someone I've always found hilarious.
- 17:07Speaker 2: So I'm very excited to have Tony Hale on the
- 17:09Speaker 2: show today. Donald, do you know this little bit of
- 17:13Speaker 2: trivia that Joelle gave us in our notes that I'm
- 17:15Speaker 2: sure you didn't read that he was in a live
- 17:18Speaker 2: stage reading of Star Wars The Phantom Menace and he
- 17:20Speaker 2: played Qui gone gin.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Qui gon jin qui, gon jin qi gone?
- 17:26Speaker 2: Yeah, Qui gone gin.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Well, we will have to discuss that with him.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe he's a Star Wars head like you if
- 17:32Speaker 2: he's doing live readings.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I mean either that or he was trying to get
- 17:37Speaker 1: into a Star Wars.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yeah, like you did you know that he played Did
- 17:40Speaker 2: you know that he is Chucky's dad on Rugrats the original?
- 17:45Speaker 4: No, in the remake from twenty twenty one going forward, though,
- 17:47Speaker 4: which is really cool.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I think, Yeah, yeah, I audition for that. I didn't
- 17:51Speaker 1: get it, So I did you really that? I'm going
- 17:53Speaker 1: to have to call my mom and tell my mom
- 17:55Speaker 1: it's not going to happen. You did an audition for that,
- 18:02Speaker 1: do you remember that it's not going to happen?
- 18:03Speaker 6: Mom?
- 18:04Speaker 2: Oh, my parents. My dad was the worst. He'd be like,
- 18:06Speaker 2: whatever happened with that thing? And you have to be like, Dad,
- 18:09Speaker 2: I auditioned for that like four months ago. I promise you.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I promise you. And then a lot of people out
- 18:15Speaker 2: there listening know how your parents can be whether even
- 18:18Speaker 2: if you're not an actor, it's your job. They're like,
- 18:20Speaker 2: whatever happened to that thing? And I'm like, I promise you.
- 18:23Speaker 2: You will be the first person I call when there's
- 18:25Speaker 2: good news. Literally literally, I will get the good news.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I will hang up and call it.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:33Speaker 2: That's what happened with Scrubs. I literally called you ten
- 18:36Speaker 2: seconds after I talked to Bill Laurence. So every time
- 18:40Speaker 2: my dad would be like oh oh, and then he
- 18:42Speaker 2: would literally go ah, disappointed, And I'm like, you're disappointed.
- 18:46Speaker 2: I'm disappointed. I'm disabouting. Now I have to go because
- 18:50Speaker 2: I've got four tables set and I don't even think
- 18:52Speaker 2: I put the absent on table four. I'm disappointed. Yeah, Dad,
- 18:57Speaker 2: I'm disappointed too. I told you what he said. We
- 19:01Speaker 2: saw Titanic right, we went to ze Titanic together. I
- 19:05Speaker 2: told this, sorry, no, we come out of Titanic and
- 19:08Speaker 2: I've got like swiping away tears and we're all just
- 19:10Speaker 2: so blown away by how incredible the movie was in
- 19:13Speaker 2: the theater and and there's got a long pause and
- 19:15Speaker 2: my dad goes, huh that Leo, he's about your age, isn't.
- 19:20Speaker 4: He Jesus Christ? Oh yeah, it's like that line from
- 19:27Speaker 4: Fleabag and what had Jesus done by thirty three?
- 19:30Speaker 1: Oh?
- 19:31Speaker 2: Man? I was like, yeah, Dad, yeah, same h. You
- 19:34Speaker 2: gotta get home and charge the Walkies for tomorrow's music video.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, all right, let's let let's bring in
- 19:41Speaker 2: the legendary Tony Hale kind of stories.
- 19:47Speaker 7: I'm not sure we made about a bunch of he
- 19:54Speaker 7: said he's a story.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Hi, Tony.
- 20:15Speaker 5: I was thrown with a no zoom. I didn't know
- 20:17Speaker 5: what was happening.
- 20:18Speaker 2: We want to fancy, we have a fancier thing now
- 20:21Speaker 2: because we want to have a beautiful four K image
- 20:24Speaker 2: of your face.
- 20:26Speaker 1: And they can they can get it on this.
- 20:29Speaker 5: That's really nice, guys. I'm a fan of both hosts,
- 20:33Speaker 5: not just one.
- 20:34Speaker 3: We are a fan of you. Thank you, thank you.
- 20:36Speaker 2: And Tony. That's our producer Joel and our engineer Mia.
- 20:40Speaker 5: Hi, guys, I'm sorry for the delay and my tech,
- 20:42Speaker 5: my tech, my handicap of technology.
- 20:45Speaker 2: No, it's fine. We're so happy you're here.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Man.
- 20:47Speaker 2: We are major fans of yours and we're very geekd
- 20:50Speaker 2: to have you on the show. Yes, yes, you know
- 20:54Speaker 2: you and sitting and I was sitting thinking about Tony
- 20:57Speaker 2: Hale before I came on the show, and don't you
- 21:01Speaker 2: I was trying to think of actors who have achieved
- 21:04Speaker 2: the very rare feat of going from one hit comedy
- 21:08Speaker 2: directly into another hit coming into another, like do you know,
- 21:12Speaker 2: are you guys in a secret club?
- 21:14Speaker 1: Oh?
- 21:14Speaker 5: It's so weird. Do you ask? I can't talk about it. No,
- 21:18Speaker 5: I I was thinking the other day somebody asked me, like, Tony,
- 21:20Speaker 5: you know, your career made such great choices, And I
- 21:23Speaker 5: thought when I started out, I wasn't in a place
- 21:26Speaker 5: to make choices. I was just so grateful for a gig,
- 21:30Speaker 5: you know, and then just you know, by God's grace,
- 21:33Speaker 5: then Veep came along and they wanted me, you know,
- 21:35Speaker 5: I was like just so thankful to be there. So
- 21:37Speaker 5: I don't know how it happened just to be on
- 21:39Speaker 5: these grades.
- 21:39Speaker 1: So you look at so you look at do you
- 21:42Speaker 1: look at Veep as the ultimate success? So I look
- 21:47Speaker 1: at it like this mel Brooks put out young Frankenstein
- 21:53Speaker 1: and so good and blazing saddles back to back. Right,
- 21:58Speaker 1: that's a feat that when it comes to comedy. I'm sorry,
- 22:01Speaker 1: I don't know who.
- 22:03Speaker 3: There are very.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Few actors out there that can go from a show
- 22:07Speaker 1: like Arrested.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Development YEP to Veep's. That's like unheard of.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I was trying to think of anybody else who's done it.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I gave I gave myself Kelsey Grammar, but it's a
- 22:18Speaker 2: little bit cheating going from Cheers to Fraser's a little bit.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Cheating spin off.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Then I want to shout out Neil Flynn, who did
- 22:25Speaker 2: go from Scrubs to the Middle at all. But Tony,
- 22:29Speaker 2: I just think that Arrested to Veep is pretty major.
- 22:32Speaker 2: I mean they were both pivotal, pivotal, beloved mega comedies.
- 22:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I am like, you're still just so grateful. I mean,
- 22:41Speaker 5: keep in mind, like there was about five, five or
- 22:45Speaker 5: six years between them where there were times when I
- 22:47Speaker 5: was like, as my wife, I was like, are we
- 22:48Speaker 5: gonna have to sell our house. So it's you know,
- 22:52Speaker 5: it's they didn't happen right after. But I don't know, man,
- 22:57Speaker 5: I'm just so grateful because you know, I mean, we've
- 23:01Speaker 5: all done gigs that were not necessarily huge fans of
- 23:04Speaker 5: the writing. You know, you do something and you're obviously
- 23:07Speaker 5: we're always grateful for work, but sometimes you're doing something
- 23:10Speaker 5: you're like, oh, I wouldn't do it this way. But
- 23:12Speaker 5: I'm just, you know, keep thankful for the job to
- 23:14Speaker 5: be a part of something that I found funny. Yeah,
- 23:17Speaker 5: you know, like into and you guys know, like what's
- 23:20Speaker 5: so great for a comic actor is the element of
- 23:22Speaker 5: surprise where it's like you're reading it and all this
- 23:25Speaker 5: all of a sudden arrested developments, like you know, by
- 23:27Speaker 5: the way a seal's going to eat your hand, you know,
- 23:30Speaker 5: and you're like, sorry, that was not in the framework
- 23:33Speaker 5: at all.
- 23:34Speaker 2: I love that show so much, dude. I I was
- 23:38Speaker 2: on it.
- 23:38Speaker 5: I was, and you were on the gag reel, which
- 23:40Speaker 5: I've watched over and over and over. Do you know
- 23:42Speaker 5: what I'm talking about?
- 23:43Speaker 2: You know, but I would love to see it.
- 23:44Speaker 5: Oh, dude, I'll send it. I'll send it to you
- 23:46Speaker 5: if you get your personal information. That's why I just
- 23:49Speaker 5: want to get your person.
- 23:51Speaker 2: It's four two four public. But I but I got
- 23:55Speaker 2: to tell you, I was so honored to be on
- 23:56Speaker 2: the show, and I I just wanted to be a
- 23:59Speaker 2: part of that universe because I was so crazy. But
- 24:01Speaker 2: tell us a little about getting it, because I think
- 24:04Speaker 2: our audience likes to hear these stories. Donald and I
- 24:06Speaker 2: have shared our stories on Scrubs. But did you feel
- 24:11Speaker 2: that it just fit you like a glove? Because for me,
- 24:15Speaker 2: I auditioned for so many things and didn't get anywhere,
- 24:18Speaker 2: and then when I read Scrubs, I was like, oh,
- 24:20Speaker 2: I genuinely find this hilarious. I bet I'm going to
- 24:23Speaker 2: be able to do a much better audition. Was that
- 24:26Speaker 2: a similar thing for you?
- 24:26Speaker 1: We heard? But before you can do and also speak
- 24:29Speaker 1: on if you will, it's a place double question speak
- 24:32Speaker 1: on to four years in between and like what that's
- 24:34Speaker 1: like because when I started off, I got clueless and
- 24:37Speaker 1: I thought that's it. I'm off and we're fire and
- 24:39Speaker 1: here we go. And it took years until Scrubs came
- 24:42Speaker 1: along again.
- 24:43Speaker 5: Totally. I am so getting it well, I had been.
- 24:46Speaker 5: I don't know if you guys have lived in New York.
- 24:48Speaker 5: I was in New York for about six or seven
- 24:50Speaker 5: years doing commercials, and I mean before that, I was
- 24:52Speaker 5: doing like every job under the sun, just to make
- 24:54Speaker 5: ends meet. But then when commercials came around, I was
- 24:56Speaker 5: kind of I was kind of typecast as the guy
- 24:58Speaker 5: who's not all there. And I just started getting these
- 25:02Speaker 5: commercials of like just the guy wide eyed and like
- 25:04Speaker 5: what you know, just that kind of guy. Yeah, and
- 25:07Speaker 5: having a great time. I met my wife in New York,
- 25:09Speaker 5: just so thankful to be working. And then a commercial
- 25:12Speaker 5: casting director. Well, let me say this, it took me
- 25:14Speaker 5: like six years to find a manager and an agent
- 25:17Speaker 5: to send me out for a TV and film because
- 25:18Speaker 5: they just saw me as a commercial actor. And so
- 25:21Speaker 5: finally when I got someone to kind of see me
- 25:23Speaker 5: beyond that. Then Marcia de Bonis, who was cast commercials,
- 25:27Speaker 5: she was casting arrested development, and since I was kind
- 25:31Speaker 5: of in this maybe type, she was like, huh, buster
- 25:34Speaker 5: is not all there? Let me just bring in Tony,
- 25:38Speaker 5: And you know, I went in and I just remember
- 25:40Speaker 5: at the time, Christopher Guest movies were really like waiting
- 25:44Speaker 5: for Guffman to just come out, and just like really
- 25:46Speaker 5: kind of out of the box. And I remember reading
- 25:48Speaker 5: this and thinking, God, this is so different because typically
- 25:52Speaker 5: before this with comedy, people weren't really you were really
- 25:56Speaker 5: thinking about it. Like on a drama, you really take
- 25:58Speaker 5: the time to like, oy, so what is that mean?
- 26:00Speaker 5: And who's this person? And you really happened to think.
- 26:02Speaker 5: With comedy people just kind of liked it washing over
- 26:04Speaker 5: you. You didn't really want to take the time. It wasn't
- 26:06Speaker 5: really dense material, whereas Arrested it was so dense. There
- 26:10Speaker 5: were so many jokes, there were so many callbacks, like
- 26:13Speaker 5: Tobias joined the Blue Man group because he thought I
- 26:15Speaker 5: was a support group for to press men, you know,
- 26:17Speaker 5: and it was like it was like all these levels,
- 26:20Speaker 5: you know, and like I was had massive motherish, I mean,
- 26:23Speaker 5: all this kind of stuff, and so I was like, God,
- 26:26Speaker 5: this is so intense. I'm surprisedly when this gets made.
- 26:29Speaker 5: And so finally I got cast, which was completely blew
- 26:33Speaker 5: my mind. I remember when I got casts weird. We
- 26:36Speaker 5: immediately shot the pilot when I was out there, and
- 26:38Speaker 5: I remember my only memory is I had to run
- 26:40Speaker 5: to Old Knavy because I ran out of underwear because
- 26:42Speaker 5: I hadn't packed enough underwear, like to like finish shooting
- 26:46Speaker 5: the show, and so I did that and then came
- 26:49Speaker 5: back and I was like, I get that was a
- 26:50Speaker 5: great experience. And then ten days before I got married,
- 26:53Speaker 5: the show got picked up and I was like, honey,
- 26:55Speaker 5: I think, I think we're moving to LA and I
- 26:58Speaker 5: just kind of and it was, you know, it's one
- 27:00Speaker 5: of those things. And I talk about this a lot,
- 27:01Speaker 5: and I apologize if people have heard it, but I
- 27:04Speaker 5: was so overwhelmed. I had never been on a studio lot.
- 27:08Speaker 5: I had never had that much, you know, I don't know,
- 27:11Speaker 5: just I didn't I didn't know what a manager was.
- 27:13Speaker 5: I didn't know. I was just so overwhelmed, and I
- 27:16Speaker 5: remember having this moment of oh man, I thought I
- 27:19Speaker 5: would feel differently, you know, because I had given so
- 27:22Speaker 5: much power to I just wanted to sitcom. I just
- 27:25Speaker 5: wanted a sitcom. And those first two years were like
- 27:27Speaker 5: a real awakening of huh this, I've given this a
- 27:32Speaker 5: lot of weight, and nothing can match the weight I've
- 27:34Speaker 5: given it. And so it was it was a kind
- 27:37Speaker 5: of like a two years of feeling kind of what now.
- 27:42Speaker 5: And then after that, you know, I kind of got
- 27:46Speaker 5: into therapy and I realized I haven't been present for
- 27:48Speaker 5: most of my life, you know. I it's that whole
- 27:51Speaker 5: thing if and I've said this, but like, if you're
- 27:53Speaker 5: not practicing contentment where you are, you're not going to
- 27:55Speaker 5: be content when you get what you want. And I
- 27:57Speaker 5: got what I want and I just had not been
- 27:59Speaker 5: practic to seeing being present most.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I love that so much, you know. And I fell
- 28:03Speaker 2: as somewhere I feel a similar thing, and I think
- 28:05Speaker 2: I related. I I think I continue to relate in
- 28:09Speaker 2: my own life now where I no matter where you are, sorry,
- 28:12Speaker 2: I only should speak for myself. No matter where I am,
- 28:15Speaker 2: I find myself going what's next, what's next?
- 28:17Speaker 5: What course?
- 28:19Speaker 2: And I really, like you just said, aspire so much
- 28:23Speaker 2: to be to focus on being the same.
- 28:25Speaker 5: And it's not even thinking that you're kind of as
- 28:27Speaker 5: in this business and we're all grateful to be in it,
- 28:29Speaker 5: but you get that guys, that question like what's next
- 28:32Speaker 5: for you? What's next for you? And we're kind of
- 28:34Speaker 5: trained to think like that. And you to your question, Donald,
- 28:37Speaker 5: like when it was over, I was like, shit, what
- 28:41Speaker 5: is next? And when nothing came, it was a big lesson.
- 28:45Speaker 5: And this is I love to talk to kind of
- 28:47Speaker 5: acting students, you know, and they always ask about, you know,
- 28:51Speaker 5: how did you do it? And stuff? And I always
- 28:53Speaker 5: love to say, first, hey, if you're getting into this business,
- 28:55Speaker 5: there is so much rejection, invest in your community before
- 28:58Speaker 5: you vest in your career, because it's the community that's
- 29:02Speaker 5: going to give you longevity, because this business sees you
- 29:06Speaker 5: one way, and your friends and your community will see
- 29:08Speaker 5: you beyond how they see you. And that is what
- 29:11Speaker 5: really those five or six years and to this day,
- 29:13Speaker 5: I mean, we're gig the gig. It is my family,
- 29:16Speaker 5: my friends who see me beyond that that really keep
- 29:19Speaker 5: me on it. I mean that's one hundred percent Troo.
- 29:22Speaker 1: I love that.
- 29:23Speaker 2: I think that all the time. I mean, it's funny
- 29:26Speaker 2: what you were saying about why did you take when
- 29:28Speaker 2: reporters ask you, why did you, you know, take this
- 29:31Speaker 2: route with this role, Like I love that girl, that girl,
- 29:35Speaker 2: young woman, Rachel Zegler. She was on some press line
- 29:37Speaker 2: and they were like, why did you do that? Why
- 29:39Speaker 2: did you why this movie? Rachel? And she was like,
- 29:41Speaker 2: I needed a job. I always feel that way as
- 29:45Speaker 2: an actor, you know, unless it's some little indie you did,
- 29:48Speaker 2: I'm always like because they wanted to hire me.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Exactly. It's Indy, You're like, why did you take it? Well,
- 29:57Speaker 1: first of all, they said, we want you.
- 30:03Speaker 5: Totally, totally, and I love I love that you guys
- 30:07Speaker 5: have stayed so close because you've just the I think
- 30:11Speaker 5: the power again of the community of it. It's beyond
- 30:15Speaker 5: it's beyond the work. It's the relationships. And you know,
- 30:18Speaker 5: I'm really close and I see the arrested guys every
- 30:21Speaker 5: now and then, but really close with the veep Vat
- 30:23Speaker 5: community like Veep family, and man, that's the stuff that
- 30:26Speaker 5: has carried on. I mean, we're so the show is
- 30:28Speaker 5: so fun, but just laughing about memories and like, oh yeah,
- 30:32Speaker 5: that's just everything.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Some of the best and beyond the scrubs cast that
- 30:35Speaker 2: I'm still we're all still close. I did a play.
- 30:39Speaker 2: I did a Broadway show and I'm some of the
- 30:42Speaker 2: best friends of my life doing that show. Yeah, it's
- 30:46Speaker 2: a long outlasted the six month run we had, and yeah,
- 30:50Speaker 2: what was that?
- 30:51Speaker 5: Can I ask what was I was in it? I
- 30:53Speaker 5: did a play about three years ago and it really was.
- 30:57Speaker 5: I'm so glad I did it because it got me
- 30:59Speaker 5: past a lot of.
- 31:00Speaker 2: I want to talk about that because I read I
- 31:03Speaker 2: read a little something you had said. Because my brilliant
- 31:06Speaker 2: producer Joelle gave us some homework on you. I wanted
- 31:09Speaker 2: to talk to you about that because I have stage
- 31:12Speaker 2: fright too, and I think a lot of people be
- 31:13Speaker 2: surprised to hear like, oh, you seem like someone who
- 31:17Speaker 2: wouldn't and I was reading that you dealt with it too.
- 31:19Speaker 1: The person that doesn't have stage fright is Hugh Jackman.
- 31:22Speaker 1: He the only one that is like, God, I'm the
- 31:24Speaker 1: stage here I come. He's the only one.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Do you know why?
- 31:28Speaker 1: I will keep it one hundred with you. There are
- 31:30Speaker 1: so many actors that don't do theater, really good actors.
- 31:33Speaker 1: You know why, because they're scared.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yes, goodness, truth, I'm very scared, and my fear is
- 31:40Speaker 2: mainly going up on the lines and not knowing where
- 31:43Speaker 2: the hell I am. I did a production of I
- 31:46Speaker 2: never said this to anybody, I don't think, but I
- 31:48Speaker 2: did a production of Romeo and Juliet in regional theater
- 31:51Speaker 2: in Connecticut when I was out of Northwestern, and I
- 31:55Speaker 2: would go early and our dressing room it was an
- 31:58Speaker 2: outdoor production in front of like two twenty five hundred
- 32:00Speaker 2: people in the summer, and if you know the Romeo
- 32:02Speaker 2: and Juliet Romeo starts talking and doesn't really stop that
- 32:05Speaker 2: much for three hours. And I would go early and
- 32:09Speaker 2: sit in this church in the pews and recite every
- 32:13Speaker 2: single one of my lines for the show, because I
- 32:16Speaker 2: was so nervous the concept, the idea that I would
- 32:21Speaker 2: forget the poetry of three hours of poetry. And there
- 32:25Speaker 2: was the only thing I could think to do that
- 32:26Speaker 2: would sue it would be to get there early and
- 32:29Speaker 2: run the whole play before you show. Yeah, but so
- 32:32Speaker 2: speak to your version.
- 32:33Speaker 5: Of My version of that is that I would have
- 32:37Speaker 5: a panic attack on stage. My version was that I
- 32:40Speaker 5: would you know, I was doing it. This play I
- 32:43Speaker 5: did at American Conservatory Theater was a pretty much a
- 32:46Speaker 5: one man play and then an actor comes in toward
- 32:49Speaker 5: like seventy five percent into it, and I thought, oh
- 32:52Speaker 5: this Every night, I was like, this is the night
- 32:54Speaker 5: I'm going to have a panic attack on stage. Because
- 32:56Speaker 5: I had a panic attack when high school. And it's
- 32:58Speaker 5: amazing how things get really locked in. And I had
- 33:01Speaker 5: one in high school, and ever since then it just
- 33:03Speaker 5: had become this you know, almost dark terror. And I
- 33:08Speaker 5: remember going to this therapist and doing I had started
- 33:11Speaker 5: doing cognitive behavioral therapy where you kind of rather than
- 33:15Speaker 5: rather than being such a victim to your thoughts and
- 33:16Speaker 5: your feelings, you're a little more of an observer to
- 33:19Speaker 5: your thoughts and your feelings. And I remember every night
- 33:22Speaker 5: he would say, hey, when you kind of hear those
- 33:25Speaker 5: thoughts or those voices or you have those feelings, turned
- 33:28Speaker 5: to that fear. I remember Bill Hayter said something about
- 33:31Speaker 5: this recently, kind of like this too, but turn to
- 33:33Speaker 5: that fear and say, hey, I appreciate you being here.
- 33:36Speaker 5: I know you're trying to help. I'm going to go
- 33:38Speaker 5: to the play and I'll be back. And it was
- 33:42Speaker 5: the first time because before what I would do is
- 33:45Speaker 5: like Tony, just buck up, almost just try to block
- 33:48Speaker 5: it out. You got this and psych yourself up. And
- 33:52Speaker 5: for me, I'm not saying for anybody else. For me,
- 33:54Speaker 5: it only made it bigger. It only made that anxiety
- 33:57Speaker 5: and fear bigger. And the minute I started kind of
- 34:00Speaker 5: embracing it and not trying to cut it off, it
- 34:03Speaker 5: just it's not like it wasn't there, but I was
- 34:05Speaker 5: more of like, I mean, this kind of relates to
- 34:08Speaker 5: that I just did inside out too, and it's like
- 34:10Speaker 5: a little more like, hey, this emotion is trying is
- 34:13Speaker 5: actually trying to help you, you know, it's it's thinking,
- 34:16Speaker 5: it's helping you, and just kind of have a little
- 34:19Speaker 5: more compassion towards it. And it every night it dissipated it.
- 34:23Speaker 5: I still had those feelings when I was right before,
- 34:25Speaker 5: but I was like, hey, man, I really appreciate it.
- 34:29Speaker 5: I know you're trying to help. I'm gonna go do
- 34:30Speaker 5: it and I'll be back.
- 34:31Speaker 1: We can have this conversation after, yeah, sure we could.
- 34:37Speaker 1: We could, we could go through this after, but right now,
- 34:39Speaker 1: I need to go and handle this business real quick.
- 34:42Speaker 5: Yes, exactly exactly.
- 34:44Speaker 2: And also part of it is excitement. I think it's
- 34:47Speaker 2: the adrenaline. It's an adrenaline rush, right totally. So part
- 34:52Speaker 2: of that adrenaline is I'm so excited to go out
- 34:55Speaker 2: there and kick ass, and it isn't And it is
- 34:58Speaker 2: a tightwire act because you know, they might not laugh
- 35:01Speaker 2: at one of the jokes and I need to just
- 35:03Speaker 2: pick up and keep going. There might be I remember
- 35:05Speaker 2: doing bullets were probably there was someone literally asleep in
- 35:07Speaker 2: the front row one night, like you just don't know
- 35:09Speaker 2: what you're gonna see. I never told you that story.
- 35:12Speaker 2: I say out red bull and intermission to the person, Wow.
- 35:19Speaker 1: You got wow?
- 35:20Speaker 2: I listen. It was so distracting. I think I assume
- 35:25Speaker 2: it was a tourist. I made this up, so I
- 35:27Speaker 2: don't know, but the story I made in my head
- 35:28Speaker 2: was that it was a tourist who had just flown
- 35:30Speaker 2: in and was jet lagged. None of that I don't
- 35:33Speaker 2: have any confirmation about. But but he or she I
- 35:36Speaker 2: forgot was asleep past asleep in the front row and
- 35:40Speaker 2: an intermission, which is very hard because when you're an
- 35:42Speaker 2: actor on stage those of you who aren't stage actors.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Depending on the lighting, but for the most part, I
- 35:48Speaker 2: could say, and doing Broadway, I could only see the
- 35:50Speaker 2: first five or so rose. Everything else is in darkness,
- 35:54Speaker 2: so it's very distracting because it was front and center,
- 35:56Speaker 2: front row. So I said to the one of the
- 35:59Speaker 2: stage managers, I said, will you will you give this
- 36:01Speaker 2: red bull to to that person and and just say like, hey,
- 36:06Speaker 2: here's this is from Zach And it's a little distracting
- 36:10Speaker 2: having you having you sleep in her role. So I
- 36:12Speaker 2: get out there for act too, and it was like
- 36:14Speaker 2: weekend at Bernie's. They had taken you know, these cushions
- 36:17Speaker 2: they have for for like kids, like a booster seat,
- 36:20Speaker 2: and they had wedged them behind and beside the person
- 36:24Speaker 2: and they were sort of propped upward, and they were
- 36:30Speaker 2: and they were holding the red bull but still nacked
- 36:33Speaker 2: f down fast asleep.
- 36:35Speaker 5: Wow. It's also like you want to you kind of
- 36:38Speaker 5: want to get him a gift card to the restaurant
- 36:39Speaker 5: next door. Just be like, hey, man, go and joer
- 36:41Speaker 5: yourself over there, or just.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Or like go lie down.
- 36:44Speaker 1: You're very Yeah. I got two stories for you, go ahead. One.
- 36:48Speaker 1: I was in the audience when I was on stage. One.
- 36:51Speaker 1: I fell asleep when I was very young, in front
- 36:54Speaker 1: of Jason Robards, and at the end of the play,
- 36:58Speaker 1: he blew a kiss to me, like you mother, good night,
- 37:04Speaker 1: Or at least that's how I looked at it, because to.
- 37:08Speaker 2: This day you don't know. It might have been his
- 37:10Speaker 2: relative right behind him, right, that.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Might have been his thing.
- 37:12Speaker 1: But he blew a kiss to the audio, but it
- 37:14Speaker 1: looked like he was looking at me when he blew
- 37:16Speaker 1: that shit.
- 37:17Speaker 5: Right, YEA.
- 37:18Speaker 3: One night I was. I feel like I was.
- 37:21Speaker 1: The cause for why the show didn't go well. I
- 37:25Speaker 1: was doing Picasso at the Lapent Jill at the Old
- 37:30Speaker 1: theater and it's me and Justin Long Lisa Lapiro, who
- 37:36Speaker 1: you just worked with on Inside Out to a bunch
- 37:41Speaker 1: of people. Right. So, anyway, I start the show off
- 37:44Speaker 1: with the joke there's something in the air tonight and
- 37:48Speaker 1: I sneeze, right, Yeah, that starts the show off every night.
- 37:52Speaker 1: It gets a laugh. This night, something got caught in
- 37:56Speaker 1: my throat, but I had to get the sneeze out
- 38:00Speaker 1: and a lot of mucuses came, oh so much so
- 38:06Speaker 1: that the person in the front row. The people in
- 38:08Speaker 1: the front row went ill like it was that bad.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Oh god, I've now look, I've fallen on stage. I've
- 38:19Speaker 1: hurt myself and kept going and people be like, oh wow,
- 38:22Speaker 1: he hurt himself. This was the first time where I
- 38:25Speaker 1: could tell I'm not everybody's out everybody, I have just
- 38:29Speaker 1: ruined the fucking show. Justin comes on stage. He's the
- 38:33Speaker 1: first person on the second person on stage. We have
- 38:35Speaker 1: a conversation. His joke, his first joke, nobody laughs, his
- 38:41Speaker 1: second joke, nobody laughs, My next joke, nobody laughs. We
- 38:46Speaker 1: look at each other and we kind of smirk, like,
- 38:48Speaker 1: oh shit, this is gonna be a long night.
- 38:50Speaker 3: But it was also one of these one.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Of those motherfuckers, like, who's gonna go big enough to
- 38:56Speaker 1: try and get Are you.
- 38:57Speaker 5: Gonna go big enough to get this last?
- 38:59Speaker 3: You're gonna I can try and hold it back.
- 39:01Speaker 1: It was one of the but it started because of
- 39:04Speaker 1: a tickle in the throat that I tried to surpass
- 39:07Speaker 1: and keep going.
- 39:08Speaker 3: Oh man, it was yeah, but it was one.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Of the worst nights.
- 39:11Speaker 5: But then it becomes a game that it's.
- 39:14Speaker 3: Like now, are like, now, now let's play.
- 39:17Speaker 5: Let's yeah, yeah, yeah, you know when you guys were talking,
- 39:20Speaker 5: it's I always think like it's all for me. It's
- 39:22Speaker 5: all based in the terror of shame and embarrassment.
- 39:26Speaker 1: You know.
- 39:27Speaker 5: It's like, you know, if you forget your lines, if
- 39:29Speaker 5: you spit you know the mucus, if I have a pant,
- 39:32Speaker 5: It's like, what is that going to be like? When
- 39:34Speaker 5: I'm that exposed, when I'm that terrified, you know, And
- 39:39Speaker 5: it's like ever since I was a kid, that's the
- 39:42Speaker 5: base of it.
- 39:42Speaker 1: You know.
- 39:43Speaker 2: I once hosted SNL and I was it was like
- 39:47Speaker 2: my dream come true and everyone was like, were you
- 39:49Speaker 2: so nervous? And I said, of course. But I have
- 39:53Speaker 2: to say my biggest fear in performing is that I'm
- 39:56Speaker 2: going to forget my lines, whereas when I hosted said,
- 39:58Speaker 2: now my lines are everywhere that you know, there's so
- 40:00Speaker 2: many there's four sets of que card people. So I was,
- 40:03Speaker 2: of course nervous. It was live TV. But my biggest
- 40:06Speaker 2: performing fear that I'm gonna somehow And the second you
- 40:10Speaker 2: forget a line for a second, ones adrenaline can then
- 40:13Speaker 2: surge and start talking to you, and you're like, you're
- 40:16Speaker 2: not gonna remember anything.
- 40:18Speaker 5: Yes, were you calmer? Were you calmer with those lines
- 40:21Speaker 5: in front of you?
- 40:22Speaker 7: You know?
- 40:22Speaker 2: Obviously it was balanced out by the insanity of like,
- 40:25Speaker 2: oh my god, I'm doing this like life change and
- 40:27Speaker 2: it's live and it's tests to know and all that.
- 40:29Speaker 2: But I but I remember feeling like way less nervous
- 40:33Speaker 2: that the lines were everywhere. I mean, I feel like
- 40:35Speaker 2: I could do any play any day if the lines
- 40:36Speaker 2: are everywhere. You know, these older these older folks, now
- 40:40Speaker 2: you have have some some older actors now use an earwig,
- 40:44Speaker 2: which is a tiny lit layer piece that goes in
- 40:46Speaker 2: your ear. Uh, So they have the comfort of knowing
- 40:49Speaker 2: like if you forget the line, someone's gonna whisper it
- 40:51Speaker 2: to you.
- 40:54Speaker 5: Uh, that would be kind of stabilizing for me, there
- 40:57Speaker 5: are people that can actually do that.
- 40:59Speaker 1: I've worked with somebody who does it.
- 41:01Speaker 4: Wow.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Well, no, film acting is different than the theater.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Bro. You can continue to talk and they can continue
- 41:06Speaker 1: to save their lines and they're just regurgitating what they.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Hear and live like like like like live.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Yeah, that's pretty impressive. It's like that's a skill in itself.
- 41:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:17Speaker 1: The fact that you can't remember the lines, the fact
- 41:20Speaker 1: that you can hear this motherfucker talking to you over
- 41:23Speaker 1: your over your voice right now is impressive.
- 41:26Speaker 5: But also don't sorry ahead.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Go ahead, Tony, you're the guests.
- 41:30Speaker 5: No please. Also, does it remind you of every uh,
- 41:34Speaker 5: everybody in the A D Department when they're talking to
- 41:36Speaker 5: you on set. Uh, they always got those those ear
- 41:39Speaker 5: pieces and they're kind of talking to you, and all
- 41:40Speaker 5: of a sudden they just kind of dis else.
- 41:45Speaker 1: You're like some of them, some of them have at
- 41:47Speaker 1: least the courtesy to put their hand up, like.
- 41:49Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, not most of them.
- 41:51Speaker 2: All Right, we're gonna take a quick break and then
- 41:53Speaker 2: when we come out back, we're gonn talking about VIEB
- 41:55Speaker 2: for a second, because I don't know if there's ever
- 41:57Speaker 2: been a show that made me laugh as hard as
- 42:00Speaker 2: so We'll be right back. Oh my god, that was
- 42:11Speaker 2: a long breakication. Yeah, Tony, wasn't that awesome audience. I
- 42:17Speaker 2: wish we could go through all the things we talked
- 42:19Speaker 2: about on break, but we don't have time. Tony. I
- 42:23Speaker 2: heard a rumor, and tell me if this is true
- 42:25Speaker 2: that you guys would actually really rehearse or improvise and
- 42:30Speaker 2: the scripts would be written from that can, which which
- 42:33Speaker 2: is nothing I've ever heard of before and sounds amazing.
- 42:36Speaker 2: What is that?
- 42:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not I mean they, I mean I. I
- 42:40Speaker 5: came more from a sketch background. I didn't come from
- 42:42Speaker 5: an improv background. And when you're working with someone like
- 42:45Speaker 5: Matt Walls, she was one of the founders of Upright
- 42:47Speaker 5: Citizens Brigade, I was a little intimidating because I was like, Oh, crap,
- 42:51Speaker 5: is this like a totally improv show? And it wasn't.
- 42:53Speaker 5: It was Armanda Nucci who created the show and all
- 42:56Speaker 5: of his writers, and then David Mandel took over. They
- 42:59Speaker 5: really gave us like a script and then we would
- 43:03Speaker 5: just kind of put it on its feet just to
- 43:04Speaker 5: kind of see if it gelled. And that to me,
- 43:06Speaker 5: what that afforded was oh, we got words, we got
- 43:10Speaker 5: a base, and then if anything else comes out, you know,
- 43:13Speaker 5: if any kind of funny bits comes out, any kind
- 43:15Speaker 5: of funny physicality. Like Julia and I, I was obviously
- 43:18Speaker 5: her kind of bag man, and we would always be like, Okay,
- 43:21Speaker 5: we got the words. Now let's play and see if
- 43:23Speaker 5: like Okay, if you drop your code here, I'll try
- 43:25Speaker 5: to snag it here. You know, then we kind of
- 43:27Speaker 5: fund out come up with a lot of fun physicality.
- 43:29Speaker 2: During those rehearsals before shooting.
- 43:32Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, like they we would. When Ormanda was
- 43:35Speaker 5: in charge, we would rehearse sometimes like a week and
- 43:39Speaker 5: we would rehearse like three or four scripts.
- 43:41Speaker 1: And that's never I think that, but because I hate
- 43:46Speaker 1: the fact when you go home, I hate going home
- 43:48Speaker 1: feeling like I should have done it this way. I
- 43:51Speaker 1: left this on the table and told every actor feels
- 43:54Speaker 1: that way no matter what, no matter how long the
- 43:57Speaker 1: day is. At some point in the take you're like,
- 44:00Speaker 1: all right, I gotta get through this shit, man.
- 44:02Speaker 5: Fuck yeah. And then you got that you.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Got to clarify for the audience just in case everyone else.
- 44:09Speaker 2: For the most part, when we do Cereal television, like this,
- 44:11Speaker 2: we get the scripts, we rehearse the scene in the
- 44:14Speaker 2: morning or what let's just say it's the morning scene,
- 44:16Speaker 2: and then we block it out, we figure out what
- 44:18Speaker 2: the jokes, how everyone's going to be, and then we
- 44:20Speaker 2: go and film film it. In this rare case, they
- 44:23Speaker 2: were actually rehearsing as you would play.
- 44:26Speaker 3: For three weeks.
- 44:28Speaker 5: Yeah, like yeah, sometimes like there was way one or
- 44:30Speaker 5: two weeks, like but a lot of scripts and then
- 44:34Speaker 5: but to your point, Donald, the worst is because that
- 44:36Speaker 5: is incredibly rare, and I was very fortunate to go
- 44:39Speaker 5: through imp I know. And typically to your point, Donald,
- 44:43Speaker 5: when you I would say something and you're like, oh,
- 44:46Speaker 5: I know there's something else. I know I could do more,
- 44:48Speaker 5: and then they're like, all right, let's turn around, meaning
- 44:51Speaker 5: let's go to the other angle away from me. And
- 44:53Speaker 5: I'm like, ah, I don't think I did. Can I
- 44:56Speaker 5: do it? Yeah?
- 44:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know what I mean. On television you
- 44:59Speaker 1: get like literally, really if you're if if the show's
- 45:03Speaker 1: moving well, you'll.
- 45:04Speaker 3: Get three takes, four takes, and.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Then they're moving on you. It's pretty ballsy for them
- 45:10Speaker 1: to say, Okay, we're gonna move on. It's pretty ballsy
- 45:12Speaker 1: for not to be like, can I get another one?
- 45:15Speaker 1: And then you feel like a right, and then they
- 45:17Speaker 1: give it to you, and then afterwards you like, can I.
- 45:20Speaker 5: Get one more?
- 45:23Speaker 2: We're on of chances.
- 45:24Speaker 1: You got to you gotta get.
- 45:25Speaker 5: The yeah, you know what I mean, or you get that,
- 45:27Speaker 5: or you get that look after you do it when
- 45:29Speaker 5: you ask for one more and they're like, I didn't
- 45:31Speaker 5: see anything different.
- 45:32Speaker 2: It's what did you do?
- 45:35Speaker 4: What did you do?
- 45:36Speaker 3: What would you do different?
- 45:37Speaker 1: Right?
- 45:38Speaker 2: You must have laughed so hard. I mean I I
- 45:42Speaker 2: just thought that show was so fun. I didn't want
- 45:44Speaker 2: it to end. I just thought it was And now,
- 45:47Speaker 2: more than ever, I think so much of it is
- 45:48Speaker 2: it feels like it's real life.
- 45:50Speaker 5: Uh. I think that's why a part of why we
- 45:52Speaker 5: did stop because it started to Julia says, when you
- 45:56Speaker 5: kind of think you're doing a bit of a documentary,
- 45:58Speaker 5: you know, you're like this. The parallel that was happening
- 46:02Speaker 5: in politics was a little it was its own sitcom.
- 46:06Speaker 2: And also I think that's universal to both parties. It
- 46:08Speaker 2: seems to me is that I never really see anything
- 46:11Speaker 2: about the vice president, Like they get in office and
- 46:14Speaker 2: then I don't really know what in either party what
- 46:16Speaker 2: they're doing, and the two.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Most famous vice presidents are Bush and Biden, and that's
- 46:22Speaker 1: because they became president after they were vice president.
- 46:24Speaker 2: No, but I'm just saying if you just use Kamala
- 46:26Speaker 2: and Pence just as an example, Okay, it's so I
- 46:29Speaker 2: can say that. I think it's universal. Like I don't
- 46:32Speaker 2: know what either of them have really done. It seems
- 46:35Speaker 2: like they have a really interesting story to tell. And
- 46:37Speaker 2: that's why I appreciated about the comedy of it all.
- 46:40Speaker 5: You know what that makes me think of Gary would
- 46:43Speaker 5: always stand behind Julia and he wasn't allowed to talk
- 46:46Speaker 5: like Julia Selena never really wanted Gary to talk, to
- 46:49Speaker 5: the point where I was called a bitchy mime because
- 46:52Speaker 5: I just all I had was my nonverbal And it
- 46:55Speaker 5: kind of think the vice president's kind of like that,
- 46:57Speaker 5: like they just kind of stand back and just give
- 46:59Speaker 5: some nonverbal.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Every now and then. Yeah, just not.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Can we go back to what you said when you
- 47:04Speaker 1: said you guys would improvisee you guys would improvise physicality. Yeah,
- 47:09Speaker 1: that's that's a different form of improvisation right there. So
- 47:13Speaker 1: we just turn into stunts with this turned into pratfalls
- 47:17Speaker 1: like any of your stuff.
- 47:18Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I mean a good I love a good
- 47:20Speaker 5: prat fall. It was I think because because Gary really
- 47:24Speaker 5: couldn't speak, physicality was his language, Like that was kind
- 47:27Speaker 5: of like the face. And Selena as the president and
- 47:30Speaker 5: the vice president, couldn't really be honest with her speeches.
- 47:34Speaker 5: But my character had this like my nonverbal could be
- 47:38Speaker 5: her honesty. So she was talking to someone who was
- 47:40Speaker 5: kind of an ass and she was all nice. I
- 47:42Speaker 5: was just in the back, like what a do? And
- 47:47Speaker 5: so that was really fine, but also something there was.
- 47:50Speaker 5: I remember there was one scene where we were at
- 47:53Speaker 5: a museum and she wasn't president anymore, and they had
- 47:55Speaker 5: like roped off the president desk and she just wanted
- 47:58Speaker 5: a taste of like what it felt again to be
- 48:00Speaker 5: at the president's deskin. She went over, She went over
- 48:02Speaker 5: the rope and sat there, and then people came in
- 48:05Speaker 5: and that's when we were like, okay, now we can
- 48:07Speaker 5: have some fun. So I tried to get her over
- 48:09Speaker 5: the railing and then she I caught her right before
- 48:11Speaker 5: her face hit before. I mean that kind of fun
- 48:15Speaker 5: like stuff to make you know.
- 48:17Speaker 1: How many cameras did you guys have?
- 48:19Speaker 5: We had? It was single yeah.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Okay, so on arrested you guys had like five cameras,
- 48:25Speaker 1: but it's still camera.
- 48:26Speaker 2: Not five.
- 48:27Speaker 3: I had so many, but it's still considered single.
- 48:30Speaker 2: How many you're confusing our audience, not.
- 48:34Speaker 3: Because you know what you guys know what I mean.
- 48:36Speaker 3: You can bring I know.
- 48:37Speaker 2: But terms let me explain for the audience, just because
- 48:41Speaker 2: this can get confusing. Traditionally it used to be multiicam
- 48:44Speaker 2: meant the old school live in front of an audience
- 48:46Speaker 2: with a laugh track, like Friends, for example, And then
- 48:50Speaker 2: when the new show started coming along, like Scrubs and
- 48:53Speaker 2: like The Office and like Arrested, they started calling them
- 48:56Speaker 2: single camera, meaning we were shooting them like a movie
- 48:58Speaker 2: on sets there was no audience. And then for time
- 49:03Speaker 2: and budget, people started adding more cameras, being like, let's
- 49:06Speaker 2: get more coverage at the same time, so we would
- 49:10Speaker 2: shoot two cameras for the most part on Scrub. We
- 49:15Speaker 2: still shoot two or three on on Shrinking these days.
- 49:19Speaker 2: And I remember Arrested was was at least when I was,
- 49:21Speaker 2: there was at least two handheld right because it was
- 49:23Speaker 2: supposed to be a documentary, so that was all handheld style, right.
- 49:27Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, because they kind of pitched it like documentary style.
- 49:30Speaker 5: We had some I think sometimes when they had three cameras,
- 49:33Speaker 5: we were like, oh, this is a this is a
- 49:35Speaker 5: special day. And nowadays three camera for a single for
- 49:40Speaker 5: a single camera show, which does I know that's confusing,
- 49:43Speaker 5: that's kind of typical.
- 49:44Speaker 2: I feel, Yeah, that's what we do. That's what we're
- 49:46Speaker 2: doing on shrinking and h and it's pretty great. It's
- 49:49Speaker 2: pretty Yuh. I like it.
- 49:51Speaker 1: You can get so much, but get to Cara asking,
- 49:54Speaker 1: that's what I was asking. If you do a pratfall
- 49:56Speaker 1: like that, you can't the chances of getting that comedy
- 49:59Speaker 1: right over and again.
- 50:00Speaker 5: Yes, yes, good call. And it's even with improv because
- 50:04Speaker 5: it not just physicality, but it's like with improv when
- 50:06Speaker 5: people are coming up with stuff on the fly, you
- 50:08Speaker 5: want those two cameras on either sides to catch.
- 50:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Actually, that's a big thing now more than ever. That's
- 50:13Speaker 2: another thing audience is called cross covering, when we never
- 50:17Speaker 2: used to do back in the day. But the cinematographers
- 50:21Speaker 2: finding ways to shoot both directions at the same time.
- 50:25Speaker 2: So if an actor is improving left and right, the
- 50:27Speaker 2: other person can be improving back and you're not having this.
- 50:30Speaker 2: You're not having to go back and go, Okay, what
- 50:31Speaker 2: were the funny things that you said, because I now
- 50:33Speaker 2: want to respond to them.
- 50:34Speaker 5: And the challenge with that is it's really hard not
- 50:38Speaker 5: to break because when people are coming up with stuff
- 50:41Speaker 5: on the fly and you're like, you need a super here,
- 50:46Speaker 5: supernatural power to not laugh. And when Julia Louis Drives
- 50:49Speaker 5: is next to you and she's come up with stuff.
- 50:51Speaker 5: She told me once and I've said this many times,
- 50:53Speaker 5: but she told me this once, like Tony, you know
- 50:55Speaker 5: you're not watching the show. You're in the show.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Because I just could not.
- 51:01Speaker 5: I could not keep it together. There was one scene
- 51:05Speaker 5: where she had her character told me like she wanted
- 51:09Speaker 5: me to break up with her boyfriend for her, and
- 51:12Speaker 5: we were we were face to face, so close, I
- 51:15Speaker 5: was kissing, and I was like, this is a supernatural
- 51:19Speaker 5: strength to keep it together. My body was shaking and
- 51:23Speaker 5: I had to make I mean, it's like, forget about it.
- 51:25Speaker 2: I mean, we do that to Donald and I would
- 51:27Speaker 2: crack each other up and we couldn't. We'd have to.
- 51:30Speaker 2: I remember trying to.
- 51:31Speaker 1: Do it was on film too.
- 51:32Speaker 2: I would try remember like bite, I would bite my cheek,
- 51:35Speaker 2: I would bite, would places myself and then you get thinking.
- 51:40Speaker 5: About sad stories. Like I would think about, like someone dying.
- 51:43Speaker 2: I would think everyone's pissed at me. I was like,
- 51:45Speaker 2: everyone's doesn't. No one thinks this is funny. Everybody wants
- 51:48Speaker 2: to go home. Stop giggling. You get the giggles, and
- 51:50Speaker 2: then you're screwed.
- 51:51Speaker 5: You do get the giggles.
- 51:53Speaker 1: Let's take a break.
- 51:53Speaker 2: We'll be right back after these fine words. Let's talk
- 52:04Speaker 2: about your new show, because I watched the pilot and
- 52:06Speaker 2: it was really really.
- 52:08Speaker 5: Yes, yes, thank you.
- 52:09Speaker 1: I watched it too, and I don't watch it, but
- 52:11Speaker 1: I watched the pilot and I am going to continue
- 52:14Speaker 1: to watch.
- 52:15Speaker 2: It's really how do you say it? The Decameron, the Cameron,
- 52:19Speaker 2: the Cameron.
- 52:22Speaker 1: You know.
- 52:22Speaker 5: We we shot in Italy for six it's beautiful.
- 52:29Speaker 3: So these are all practical sets.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Then this is no, no, that's there's definitely a big
- 52:33Speaker 2: as set.
- 52:33Speaker 5: Right well we yeah, the big asset was in the villa,
- 52:35Speaker 5: which yeah, beautiful. It was chi Chiita. These are, by
- 52:39Speaker 5: the way, these names, these Italian names. I say, I
- 52:42Speaker 5: completely left up the per first three weeks of being there,
- 52:44Speaker 5: and then after after time I got used to it.
- 52:46Speaker 5: But Cheta is where we shot, and and then when
- 52:50Speaker 5: we did exteriorst like the castle. We would go to
- 52:52Speaker 5: these gorgeous places and do that stuff.
- 52:54Speaker 2: It's so beautiful, beautiful. I was so envious looking at
- 52:57Speaker 2: all these exterior locations. I never know, other than when
- 53:01Speaker 2: Donald and I went to the Bahamas for scrubs, I
- 53:03Speaker 2: don't think I've ever worked in some place as it
- 53:08Speaker 2: was beautiful.
- 53:08Speaker 5: And the Italians are very I mean, They're artistry is great.
- 53:11Speaker 5: They're honest people. They're honest people.
- 53:13Speaker 1: I was.
- 53:14Speaker 5: I had this costume, I war had this belt, and
- 53:17Speaker 5: it's well. For those who don't know, it takes place
- 53:19Speaker 5: during the Bubonic plague during thirteen forty eight.
- 53:23Speaker 2: I think The Great is a good reference point. Yes, yeah,
- 53:26Speaker 2: if people know the show The Great, it's sort of
- 53:28Speaker 2: a highly stylized period style. It was very modern elements
- 53:32Speaker 2: in modern music, but set you know in what fourteen.
- 53:36Speaker 5: Something, yeah, fourteenth century, thirteen forty eight, And it's kind
- 53:40Speaker 5: of the writer Kathleen Jordan wrote it during the pandemic
- 53:43Speaker 5: as a way of kind of processing the uncertainty and
- 53:45Speaker 5: fear that we were all experiencing. And it's it's kind
- 53:48Speaker 5: of like a I play the kind of and if
- 53:52Speaker 5: you think of doubt Nabbey. I kind of played like
- 53:53Speaker 5: the carson, like the kind of the head of the
- 53:55Speaker 5: downstairs right. I would say very darker.
- 53:58Speaker 2: Glory nabb Glory's wig glorious, oh my.
- 54:01Speaker 5: Just gorgeous, I mean my hair. And the Italians, I'm
- 54:05Speaker 5: not kidding, they would always say, Tony your head, that hey,
- 54:08Speaker 5: that wig looks so beautiful, so beautiful. And after a
- 54:11Speaker 5: while I was like, hard not to be insulted because
- 54:13Speaker 5: I'm like, this is not my hair does not look
- 54:16Speaker 5: this good, and I have to take this off.
- 54:18Speaker 2: They're getting credit like it's your hair.
- 54:19Speaker 5: Yeah, And I said, guys, I can't glue this on
- 54:21Speaker 5: my head every day, and this one Italian goes, ah,
- 54:24Speaker 5: maybe you should, and I was like, okay, let's settle down, man.
- 54:30Speaker 5: And then there's another guy. I had my costume and
- 54:32Speaker 5: I said, hey, can you make this belt a little tighter?
- 54:34Speaker 5: And he goes, no, you have an odd shape. And
- 54:38Speaker 5: I was like sorry, and he goes, what you do you.
- 54:44Speaker 2: I loved about the show is that other than you.
- 54:47Speaker 5: And Sasha Sasha Mammot good Saja Mammon.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Sorry. I would never said her name out loud, but
- 54:52Speaker 2: she's very funny. But I'll youtwo. I hadn't seen any
- 54:55Speaker 2: of these people before, and I love shows that introduced
- 54:58Speaker 2: me to all these new actors.
- 55:01Speaker 5: It was a lot of funny Sias Shamanica Jackson who
- 55:04Speaker 5: was on that show Dairy Girls, which I started watching
- 55:06Speaker 5: when I got this. So funny, I mean, just a
- 55:09Speaker 5: lot of Tanya Reynolds, who is I did not watch it,
- 55:12Speaker 5: but the show Sex Education, and just a lot of
- 55:14Speaker 5: UK actors and really funny.
- 55:17Speaker 2: Who's the woman who plays the main the woman who
- 55:20Speaker 2: steals the identity of her of her?
- 55:22Speaker 5: Yeah, Tanya Reynolds, she's the one. Very very good, very good,
- 55:26Speaker 5: And it's just it was so fun and I also
- 55:30Speaker 5: I will say it wasn't just the script is so
- 55:33Speaker 5: good and shows really and it has an arc. I
- 55:36Speaker 5: don't I was talking to somebody about this recently. I
- 55:38Speaker 5: don't know if you guys. I don't think you guys did,
- 55:40Speaker 5: because you guys did. But what my other characters like
- 55:43Speaker 5: Buster or Gary, they kind of get stuck in a
- 55:46Speaker 5: kind of an emasculated role and that's kind of the funny,
- 55:49Speaker 5: like they never really grow. Yeah, it was really nice
- 55:51Speaker 5: on the show to have a full arc, like it's
- 55:54Speaker 5: a limited series. You really see you know, he has
- 55:57Speaker 5: an awareness and he makes mistakes and then he kind
- 55:59Speaker 5: of retreats and comes back. And that was nice.
- 56:01Speaker 2: Well the pilot. I only saw the pilot, but man,
- 56:03Speaker 2: it sets up so much mayhem. Yes, I thought that
- 56:06Speaker 2: was It's a really good pilot because you go just
- 56:09Speaker 2: I mean, it's a testament to the writing because not
- 56:12Speaker 2: only does it set up so many characters, but so
- 56:16Speaker 2: many different subplots and stories, and I.
- 56:19Speaker 1: Would say it takes its time to bring it all
- 56:22Speaker 1: together and just filing alone. Yeah.
- 56:24Speaker 5: Yeah, that's something she was talking about recently that she
- 56:27Speaker 5: was inspired kind of by Amadeus and like the favorite
- 56:31Speaker 5: and and there was a sense of kind of sitting
- 56:34Speaker 5: in the tension a lot like and also there we
- 56:38Speaker 5: all use our dialect where it's not the same dialect
- 56:41Speaker 5: very because she said, similar to Amadeus, and she kind
- 56:44Speaker 5: of like, yeah.
- 56:44Speaker 2: Well, Denzel. People have been joking about the the New
- 56:49Speaker 2: Gladiator siler because Denzel is just like, I'm just going
- 56:52Speaker 2: to be Denzel.
- 56:55Speaker 1: I'm surprised he's like not my man. In the trailer.
- 57:00Speaker 4: We like it, my man, I love it.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Listen, nobody cares, by the way. Everyone just like.
- 57:07Speaker 3: He got a bow and arrow. At some point, I'm like,
- 57:09Speaker 3: this motherfucker kick ass.
- 57:14Speaker 5: Did you say there's a trailer?
- 57:16Speaker 3: Yeah, now this is what they got me.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Listen.
- 57:19Speaker 1: He was under the impression that it's the Mandalorian dude
- 57:23Speaker 1: that's the start a.
- 57:24Speaker 5: Movie, Petroscal.
- 57:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not him.
- 57:27Speaker 1: It's his lookalike brother dude, like the dude, the dude
- 57:31Speaker 1: that they got to play here the it's.
- 57:34Speaker 2: It looks like you don't know. This guy is very famous.
- 57:36Speaker 2: Donald what's his name, Paul Paul something, Paul Mescal, Paul Scow.
- 57:42Speaker 8: He even got the same name, Peal, Paul Paul. I'm
- 57:50Speaker 8: just saying, man, it kind of sound the same, potato
- 57:54Speaker 8: Potato Pascal.
- 57:56Speaker 2: They're both incredible. Pedro Piscal even in the movie.
- 58:00Speaker 3: Yes, yes he is in the movie.
- 58:04Speaker 2: To be honest, I just saw the memes. I have
- 58:05Speaker 2: yet to see the trailer, but I saw all they
- 58:09Speaker 2: fight a rhino.
- 58:12Speaker 5: I think that they came. I think they were there
- 58:16Speaker 5: or came right after we finished a camera and at
- 58:18Speaker 5: the stages that we were shooting.
- 58:21Speaker 3: Yea, there's a scene which was a quirky sidekick.
- 58:26Speaker 1: That motherfucker.
- 58:27Speaker 2: I'm here, there's a rewrite. Denzel Denzel now has a
- 58:31Speaker 2: quirky Hey.
- 58:33Speaker 5: Denzel, you look dirty.
- 58:40Speaker 1: I'm just saying, man, there's a scene where they fill
- 58:43Speaker 1: the Colosseum up with water and have a boat fight
- 58:46Speaker 1: in the coliseum.
- 58:48Speaker 2: I don't know who told was a real thing.
- 58:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it was me and you.
- 58:51Speaker 1: That's what we were having this conversation with somebody. They
- 58:54Speaker 1: used to do that.
- 58:55Speaker 5: Oh yeah, if you that's one thing I did do
- 58:58Speaker 5: a lot's go to the Colisseum and it was fascinating.
- 59:02Speaker 2: What do you do there?
- 59:04Speaker 5: Just walking around? I just walked around and then they
- 59:06Speaker 5: you kind of go downstairs where you know, they brought
- 59:09Speaker 5: the animals up and then yeah, and the and the
- 59:12Speaker 5: fighters and just it was so atrocious. It's so atrocious.
- 59:17Speaker 5: But there was also something really, I don't know, existential
- 59:21Speaker 5: about it, Like at the time it was the just
- 59:24Speaker 5: pinnacle of wealth and then you just now everything's been
- 59:27Speaker 5: stripped away, and it's like, man, just that's what happens
- 59:30Speaker 5: with that equation is just that atrocious.
- 59:33Speaker 1: And it happened like that too. It was like the
- 59:35Speaker 1: Fall of Rome was like that.
- 59:37Speaker 2: I'm sorry this is a dumb question, but is the
- 59:40Speaker 2: coliseum just a museum thing you visit or can they
- 59:43Speaker 2: still throw shows there.
- 59:45Speaker 5: No, it's not a stupid question. It's right now. It's
- 59:48Speaker 5: a it's a museum.
- 59:49Speaker 2: It's good because probably suck it up. They'd get all
- 59:51Speaker 2: drunk and like, piss on it.
- 59:53Speaker 5: Yeah, just just piss on it.
- 59:56Speaker 2: No, you know you can't trust What are you going
- 59:59Speaker 2: to do tonight?
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I'm going to go.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Getting done to your hammer And you're at the concert
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: and you're like, I got to pee. The toilets are
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: so far Just be here, bro, all right, I'll pee you.
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: Just sounds like a personal experience for you, Zach.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: I'm just saying I want to protect nice things and
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: can't have nice things.
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: Cut to tomorrow's story, Zach, bravit Taylor Swift and just
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: peeing on the I.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Went and Donald was my date to Taylor Swift and
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: I used the toilet.
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: Can we talk about just for two seconds.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Anything you want? You the.
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: Thank you for reminding me the the movement. My my
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: my daughter is a swiftye and the the coding of
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: it all is fascinating to me. Like she I guess
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: she went to some her premiere and she was wearing
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: a blue dress that had kind of cuts in the
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: dress and I was like, oh, that's interesting. It looks
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: like and my daughter goes, oh no, no, no. She was
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: wearing this nail polish in this concert and it was
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: light blue and there was lines in it and was
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: really into this album. And I'm like, this is like
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: an escape room.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Yeah. She she sincerely drops Easter eggs with everything she does.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: Man, it's like a show lost. Yeah, there's so many clues.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and you have to be a fan. You have
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: to be a real die hard fan to understand it. Yeah,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: you know that. Does Beyonce do that too? Like I
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: feel like she does all kind of do that.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: Joelle is furiously nodding audience.
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: She does when I did that commercial.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Yea commercial. By the way, we had that in common.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: We we both are of us, all four of us,
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: not only Superman. You you chill for another brand that
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: shall not be mentioned. But we have to ask you
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: to mention him and you try and men out. Yeah
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: we are a T mobile podcast. But but wait, Tony,
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: we're bearing the lead. What was it like working with Beyonce, babe?
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: Well, I mean, I uh so I got First of all,
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: they called and and say, hey, are you interested in
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: doing a Super Bowl ad? Which, by the way, anytime
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: they say are you interested, it's like, why are you?
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: Why don't you just book me and just say show.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: Up, Hey, Tony, it's Beyonce and a giant check. What
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: are you doing? Are you busy?
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: Oh, it's so funny. I'm having coffee with a friend.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: Can't but I uh so they said that, and then
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: they said it's with a music artist and I was like, oh,
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: that's cool. And then they said Beyonce and I was
- 1:02:31Speaker 5: like sorry, and my daughter had just been to her concert,
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: and I, you know, I don't get a lot of
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: cool dad points. You know, it's she doesn't really anything
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: I do. She's she's I mean, first of all, buster Bluth,
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: like what she could be like my dad's Buster Blue
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: but no, no, but it's no, she is very proper,
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: but like she doesn't watch a lot of this stuff.
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: But I couldn't tell her that I would have done
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: this because we signed an NDA and it wasn't until it,
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: you know, it aired, that she was able to see it.
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: But my point in that was that we did some
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: kind of teasers before it, kind of some coding, and
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: I was at a lemonade stand and then I was
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: next to the horse. What's the horse name? The glittered horse?
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: Oh my god, yes, but my daughter, you know the
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: picture of the horse, just a picture of the horse house.
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: She is, She's amazing. But my daughter immediately got it
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: because they're so used to this coding, like everything.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Is beyon Is it Beyonce's horse?
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: It was Beyond? She uses it in her concert.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: Mia. Yes, Mia, you.
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: Know, I don't know.
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: You on muted and lean forward.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: I'm say something and lean forward. You gotta say something,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: you can't mute.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: I wish the audience furiously see Joel googling Beyond.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Her eyes are like this on the screen, going back
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: and back and forth really fast.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: But how was the experience?
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: Oh, it's great, it was great. It was I think
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: we shot from like six am to like five am
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: the next day. Wow. Wow, and I but it went
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: by like I was just like it was like a
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: front row seat to get experience, you know. And she
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: had like nine costume changes. I was in the same outfit,
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: so I just sat around at Craftservice all day.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: So you shot that whole commercial in one day.
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: Well, I came back the next day to shoot kind
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: of my reaction shots and then her and I stuff
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: was that first day?
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Did you feel nervous working with her? Did you give
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: yourself any I've said on this podcast before sometimes when
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: I'm working with someone of that stature, of like holy
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: shit stature, that I give myself a little pep talks
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: like don't don't be in your head like you don't
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: want to when everyone sees this. You don't want to
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: look like nervous guy.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: You're so full of shit. Bro. When we first started,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: I remember we would go out and it would be
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: all of these fun There's only one time where I
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: saw him losing shit. But we would see so many
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: famous people, and this motherfucker would be able to hand.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: He would handle it no problem.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: Like I'm not talking about out drinking. I'm talking about
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: like directing Morgan Freeman.
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: Oh well, I mean.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Well that's different, bro, Okay, all right, hold.
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: On now, I would think that's interesting directing. I don't
- 1:05:21Speaker 5: know about this. This felt a little more. I think
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: if it's maybe it's not my age and I'm fifty
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: almost fifty four years old, and I get excited. I
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: get more excited now with these kind of experiences because
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: it's an opportunity. I don't know, as someone who is
- 1:05:40Speaker 5: so on a pedestal and just like she mean, she's
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: so talented. I get excited about kind of seeing the
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: humanity of someone, you know, and like she's so sweet
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: and she's humble, and you know, she's a girl in
- 1:05:54Speaker 5: the middle of this kind of you know, whirlwind of
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: talent and praise and stuff, and I don't know, just
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: kind of seeing that humanity.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: As about.
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: Jesus Odd, I would say fifty percent of our conversation
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: is talking about Joel. Yeah, to day, I didn't know,
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: And now I know.
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: She's right about that.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Her and her and and uh Taylor Swift. Beyonce and
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: Taylor Swift are starting a revolution right now. Man, musical
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: revolution amongst these young ladies and.
- 1:06:28Speaker 5: Cowboy is incredible.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: Yeah, oh man, come.
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: On, it is incredible.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: But you know what I'm gonna say one thing. This
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: is the one thing that I'm gonna say about it.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: All they knew who to go to for the hit.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: They both went to that post.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: The Malone guy. I just didna put it out there.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: They both threw it into the post, mounted down for
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: them and late it is there. Okay, best song on
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: both albums, Best song gonna boat that album post Malone,
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: I will throw something at.
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: Least to Donald I'll fight you right now.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: All right, wait too, Most wanted his dope to Most
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: wanted his dope Like.
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: The bunking bunk is a bunk bunk bucket.
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: Sweet honey bucket, Like I love that.
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: Thing. I love. And there's also like it's a snap.
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: There's like a snap snap snap snap thing. And I'm like.
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: Dolly Parton hang man.
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot of good telling you. They threw
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: it into the post.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: They threw it into the post, and he backed him
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: down and dunked it for him.
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: What do you tell me what is unique about because
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: I mean again I'm old about post Malone that they
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: both went that guy.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: It's just because his sound, his sound is way different
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: than everybody else's. It's real, it's it's it comes from
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: the eighties, but it's different. Man, Like something about post Malone. Listen,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: I'm a fifty year old man right now. I think
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: he has the melodies that I'm taking that I just
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: want to because he says the same shit that everybody
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: else says. He sings trap music, but he just has
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: a melody to his stuff that's really, really, really good?
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: Am I wrong, Joel?
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: Not at all. He's very musically gifted where I think,
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: you know, like he can do a lot of different
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: things musically, which obviously elevates you and allows you to
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: be fluid between genres in a way that not everybody
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: can be.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: All right, we've kept it Tony long enough. Tony, remind
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: us how to say your show? De Cameron, Cameron see
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: the Cameron got it Cameron? And it's on Netflix? And
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: when can people see it?
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: I know Netflix, We're happy to support a startup. It
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: airs the July twenty fifth.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: July twenty fifth, Everybody.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: This show is epic, guys, check it out.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: It's very funny, and it tells a real it tells
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: a story, and you love to follow the characters.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: So and I got to say, and if you happen
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: to be a Scrubbs fan who has not ever watched REEP,
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: you're really missing out. It's a very similar sense of
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: humor and you will definitely love.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: How they got nominated for not Yeah they got nominated
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: for everything, and.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: Yeah they were way more high falutin for you, guys.
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: I know you get this question all the time. Do
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: you get the question all the time about like bringing
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: it back.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, absolutely, we're going.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: To bring it back in some capacity. It's just that
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: our overlord and showrunner Bill Lawrence is a very busy man,
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: but he wants to bring it back, and we all
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: want to bring it back. It's just a matter of
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: It's like the slot machine. It's a matter of all
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: the things lining up and getting.
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: Chairs, and it's a lot. It's a big cast. It's
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: challenging to do that.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think once Bill is like, this is
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: the moment where I can do it, and I think
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: it'll happen.
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: I know that it's such a joy. That would be
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: such a joy to reunite.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: Yeah, even if it's just for for some sort of
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: short run, would be a blast.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: You get that. I get that question a lot.
- 1:10:11Speaker 5: I used to with the rest of it, and then
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: they they kind of, oh, you guys did it. Yeah,
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: we did it and Veep uh that would be fun.
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: We kind of if you said, the finale kind of
- 1:10:20Speaker 5: jumps ahead and she does well that's a.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: Spoiler, but its tony.
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: But there could be something in the middle.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: Maybe I hope you bring I hope you bring Veeep back.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: You could go back and tell more stories. That's how
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: we're looking.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: That's what I think is going to happen.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: I think we're going to go back into the exact
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: moment where we were all in the hospital together and
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: just tell the stories.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: I feel a lot of Scrubs fans feel about Scrubs Tony.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: I feel like I would be so giddy if there
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: was some announcement they're going to do a limited twelve
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: episodes Veep is back. They're going to tell a story
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: they didn't tell. I would.
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: I'd be so in that would be so dope, same same.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: All right, brother, thank you for wishing that.
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: For you guys. Thank you guys. It was a delay.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: Thanks for so much. That was amazing. What a great
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: guest hunt, Joel, great producing. These are your flowers and
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: your snaps.
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: I'm seeing them and appreciating them.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: Great engineering to me.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Amazing.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: Now I can't believe that Daniel.
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: Daniel is in danger. I know, Ranger.
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: I mean, you get rid of whatever that sound is
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: in your background if you can.
- 1:11:33Speaker 5: I'm trying to figure it out.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: I will if you can figure out why it sounds
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: like you live on a train. Yea, we would love
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: to have you back.
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: It's probably what's that if your computer fan is on
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: on our laptop, that will create that sound right next
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: to the mic. Yeah.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: Well, Joelle, if Daniel's ever unable to make it again,
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: I want you to book Mia and her new sound system.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: A gotcha.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: But Tony was a great guest, and Joelle, I seriously
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: want to thank you. Your prep notes were really helpful
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: and and I really you know, we're learning how to
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: do this interview thing. It's not what Donald and I
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: are school then. But it's a lot of fun talking
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: to actors, isn't it.
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: It really is. I like that the most, to be
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: honest with you.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: It's cool to talk to people who are interesting. Well,
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: I like talking about sex two sec. We all do,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: But I definitely like talking to people who have gone
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: through the exact same experiences that we have. And I
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: think it's something that I hope it's something that the
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: listeners want to talk about also, because I mean, it
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: seems glitz and glamory, but that shit, it's not you
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: know what I mean, it's work. There's another side to it.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: And that's what he was trying to say. When you know,
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: you get that first sitcom, you're like all I wanted.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: All I wanted was a sitcom and you get that
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: shit and it's not exactly what you thought it was
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: going to be.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Yeah, and then I would have never thought that. After arrested,
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: he was like, are we gonna have to sell our house?
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: Man, you know he had that anxiety. You know, I
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: was I misunderstood. I thought Veep kind of went right.
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: I went right in. I didn't realize there was such
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: a big split in the years.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: There's not a lot of work out there, bro and
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: what everybody sees is the work that you got at
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: the time. But there's times where you're not working for years.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: If you're counting on acting to pay your bills, and
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: you are blessed enough to have that ability or have
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: that opportunity, you got to understand that in between jobs
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: is where that money needs to be put, you know
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: what I mean. It's just a lot of people don't
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: know that. A lot of people look at it as
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: I got all of this money, I'm bawling and then
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: the freaking then you go down that roller coaster hill and.
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: Yeah, moist shocked when you see these new people that
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: blew up and they're like driving like a Bentley I'm like,
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: you shouldn't be buying a Bentley.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: Go buy a Bentley bro. Go buy a Bentley bro.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: You see this in only would though like someone's famous
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: for a day and they're driving around a Bentley.
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: It's like, oh, bro, the first check if you burning
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: a hole in your pocket.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: I remember that first check, that first I spent the
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: whole clueless check on a car. I'll never forget that.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: I got a Jeep Cherokee.
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: I'll never forget it.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: And my mom, my mom said, red Jeep Cherokee, Laredo.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: My mom said to this is fucking hilarious. My mom
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: said to me, she goes, did you learn your lesson?
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: I said, yeah, I need to make some more money.
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: All right, audience, thank you for tuning in. We appreciate you,
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: We love you. Stay safe out there, be kind. Donald
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: counts out.
- 1:14:45Speaker 7: I'm not sure we made about a bunch, said, he's
- 1:14:53Speaker 7: a story net.
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: Around you here.
- 1:15:00Speaker 7: Yadu Rajuhir Hobs were free, Raju Viz and Dano
