Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Oxford and welcome to Dixieland Delight Friday night
- 0:06Speaker 1: on Sport and State. With Chad Withrow, I'm Jonathan Hunt
- 0:09Speaker 1: from Hunt & Withrow. Mornings right here across the Sport
- 0:11Speaker 1: and State Network were presented by Hard Rock Bet. We
- 0:14Speaker 1: have made it to Oxford. We have made it to
- 0:16Speaker 1: the game that we've all been waiting for. Chad, it's time.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's time for Ole Miss at LSU.
- 0:24Speaker 2: It's time for.
- 0:25Speaker 3: What could be the greatest weekend in the Magnolia State
- 0:28Speaker 3: in history. I don't say that lightly. This is a
- 0:31Speaker 3: place that knows how to get after it. Hutton, you
- 0:34Speaker 3: look behind you here right now. This place is ready
- 0:37Speaker 3: for a big weekend here at Funkies. Incredible stuff. Everyone
- 0:41Speaker 3: here is drunk right now, except for us. But it's
- 0:44Speaker 3: not going to stop us from having a great time
- 0:46Speaker 3: because everyone else is.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I can't even hear what he's saying right now. They
- 0:50Speaker 1: have a $ 60 cover here at Buc-ee's.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Yes.
- 0:53Speaker 1: It's a blast. My first time to Oxford already off
- 0:56Speaker 1: the charts. We hope you'll join us in the chat.
- 0:58Speaker 1: We hope you'll share the feed as well. If you're
- 1:01Speaker 1: watching on YouTube, give us a thumbs up. Join us
- 1:04Speaker 1: in the comments section as well as who you think
- 1:07Speaker 1: is going to win tomorrow night's game between Ole Miss
- 1:09Speaker 1: and LSU. We'll give you our predictions coming up. Chad,
- 1:11Speaker 1: this is something we've been wanting to do. Clay is
- 1:15Speaker 1: picking out a select number of games that we're going
- 1:17Speaker 1: to be attending throughout the fall. It's exactly what we
- 1:20Speaker 1: started doing whenever we joined them five years ago, and
- 1:22Speaker 1: it's back.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Also, leave it to Clay to do it right, to
- 1:26Speaker 3: do it the right way. And kudos to Clay for
- 1:28Speaker 3: doing this the right way. There was trial and error
- 1:31Speaker 3: in the beginning, right? We wanted to do something a
- 1:33Speaker 3: little bit different. We wanted to go on Saturday mornings,
- 1:36Speaker 3: but really early on Saturday mornings with our previous company.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Here we are here now on a Friday night. We
- 1:41Speaker 3: saw going out with Clay and doing everything at SEC
- 1:44Speaker 3: Towns on Friday nights. Friday night is the place to be.
- 1:48Speaker 3: That's why we launched Dixieland Friday night. That's why we're
- 1:51Speaker 3: launching it here at Funkies. So huge kudos to Clay Travis.
- 1:55Speaker 3: for making sure that happened. But this is exactly what
- 1:58Speaker 3: we envisioned.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Chaos. Chaos around us.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Right behind me right now is Shepard Smith from Fox News,
- 2:04Speaker 3: for instance. Ed Orgeron may roll in and start drinking.
- 2:08Speaker 3: We don't know what's going to happen. We don't know
- 2:11Speaker 3: what is going to happen tonight.
- 2:13Speaker 1: That is the point.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Big props to Jacob Lutz who set this up. We
- 2:17Speaker 3: are like the band Rush, the great Canadian band. We
- 2:21Speaker 3: are a three-man band here right now. This guy is
- 2:23Speaker 3: the one doing all the technical work, getting it set up.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Kudos to him for making this happen. We're going to
- 2:29Speaker 3: have a blast tonight for the next, what, 55 minutes
- 2:31Speaker 3: or so? Yeah.
- 2:32Speaker 2: We're going to have fun.
- 2:33Speaker 1: We're here for the next hour. Hope you'll join us.
- 2:35Speaker 1: So they're known for their daiquiris here at Bunky's. Chad,
- 2:37Speaker 1: what's the first thing you do when you see a
- 2:38Speaker 1: straw in a man's drink?
- 2:40Speaker 3: Here's what you do when you see a straw, and
- 2:41Speaker 3: this is a lesson to every Oxford man here.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I think.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Oxford, Mississippi men know, though. I'm seeing no straws with
- 2:50Speaker 3: Oxford men. Here's what you need to know. You see
- 2:52Speaker 3: a straw, if you're a man, and you do this.
- 2:56Speaker 3: You take it out. You get all the contents of
- 2:58Speaker 3: the drink out. You shake it out in the drink,
- 3:00Speaker 3: and you toss it. Why do you toss it? Because
- 3:04Speaker 3: the last thing a woman that you're flirting with across
- 3:07Speaker 3: the bar wants to see is a man doing this.
- 3:12Speaker 3: You don't want to do it. You lock eyes with
- 3:14Speaker 3: a woman. You don't want to do it. My cousin
- 3:17Speaker 3: told me this years ago in my early 20s. I
- 3:20Speaker 3: savor it to this day. It's a good lesson to have.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Don't drink out of a straw, guys. Just don't do it.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Hey, big shout out to Lee Harris for hosting us
- 3:29Speaker 1: here at Bunkies. Great host. And we were in the back,
- 3:32Speaker 1: the new renovated area of Bunkies. And the area dedicated
- 3:39Speaker 1: to his brother, who died in the line of duty
- 3:44Speaker 1: serving for the Mississippi State Police. And John Martin Harris,
- 3:51Speaker 1: his name. Died in 2021. And since then, they've dedicated
- 3:56Speaker 1: a space to him here. He's tremendous. They have his
- 3:59Speaker 1: badge on the wall, multiple things in honor of him.
- 4:02Speaker 1: We're honored to be in his area tonight. No doubt.
- 4:04Speaker 3: And they call it his brother's corner over here. Lee
- 4:06Speaker 3: told us that before it went on. This is a
- 4:08Speaker 3: new section of Funke's for old Ole Miss grads that
- 4:12Speaker 3: have been here years ago. Everything east of the bar.
- 4:15Speaker 3: I'm just shouting directions. I don't know if that's it
- 4:17Speaker 3: or not. East of the bar was not here. This
- 4:19Speaker 3: is a new area, and it is his brother's corner.
- 4:22Speaker 3: And we thank the life of John Martin Harris, sacrificing
- 4:27Speaker 3: so much to honor this and see the police flag
- 4:32Speaker 3: over here.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Very, very cool here tonight at Funke's.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Salute to John Martin Harris and to Leake. for hosting
- 4:39Speaker 1: us tonight. Hey, my first time in Oxford. You're going
- 4:42Speaker 1: to get this reference.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Your first impression.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Go ahead. First impression is it is the Augusta of
- 4:47Speaker 1: college football. If you go to Augusta National, the way
- 4:50Speaker 1: I would describe it to you if you've never been
- 4:52Speaker 1: is not going to do it justice. You have to
- 4:54Speaker 1: see it in person. It's better in person than what
- 4:57Speaker 1: TV can present, right? TV is better in many cases
- 5:02Speaker 1: than actually seeing the product on the field or on
- 5:05Speaker 1: the court. Not at Augusta. I mean, I've always heard
- 5:09Speaker 1: that Oxford is badass. That's the case, man. They do
- 5:12Speaker 1: it different.
- 5:13Speaker 2: It's incredible.
- 5:14Speaker 3: We drove up, so we got a nice house for
- 5:16Speaker 3: staying in, and the drive up to the square in Oxford.
- 5:20Speaker 3: And what was going on the way here and the
- 5:22Speaker 3: amount of people that are out, people walking by right now,
- 5:24Speaker 3: here seeing us here at Funky's.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Incredible spot. I love it here. Hutton, you haven't even
- 5:30Speaker 2: seen the Grove yet.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I have not.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Which is otherworldly great when you get a chance.
- 5:34Speaker 1: To see it. I feel like I've seen a little
- 5:35Speaker 1: bit of it.
- 5:36Speaker 2: It's very unique.
- 5:37Speaker 3: You know, I say, like, the whole experience here, it's
- 5:42Speaker 3: unlike anywhere else in the SEC. Like, you could say Athens,
- 5:45Speaker 3: it's a smaller Athens, or it's this or that. I
- 5:48Speaker 3: would argue Ole Miss is one of one. It's its
- 5:51Speaker 3: own animal. If you've never been here, get here at
- 5:53Speaker 3: some point. This would have been a weekend of gum,
- 5:56Speaker 3: but we want to give you a little taste of
- 5:57Speaker 3: the weekend as we go along so you know what
- 6:00Speaker 3: it's like here. But it's a one-of-one place, and it's incredible.
- 6:03Speaker 1: We have Breckup and Gus here. here from Sporting State
- 6:08Speaker 1: and from Daily Wire, and they're going out and doing
- 6:13Speaker 1: some man-on-the-street interviews. One of the questions that I floated
- 6:16Speaker 1: out there to get things going on the game is,
- 6:20Speaker 1: what do you love the most that you miss about
- 6:23Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin, and what do you hate the most about
- 6:26Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin? And they said the majority, it was the
- 6:29Speaker 1: same answer. It was the trash talk. And that's the
- 6:33Speaker 1: endearing feature, right, of Lane Kiffin here. If he's with you,
- 6:38Speaker 1: you love him. And if he's against you, you want
- 6:41Speaker 1: to kill him. And there's hatred around the city tonight.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin is the centerpiece of this whole weekend. Lane
- 6:49Speaker 3: Kiffin is the villain to everyone at Ole Miss. He
- 6:51Speaker 3: is the hero to everyone at LSU. No different than
- 6:54Speaker 3: when Lane Kiffin was the hero to Ole Miss and
- 6:58Speaker 3: the villain for LSU and everyone else across the SEC.
- 7:01Speaker 3: This guy understands how to create a narrative, sometimes intentionally,
- 7:07Speaker 3: sometimes unintentionally with Lane Kiffin. But he knows that everyone
- 7:11Speaker 3: is out to get him here at Ole Miss. Hutton,
- 7:13Speaker 3: I've said it all week. Everyone keeps asking, what's it
- 7:16Speaker 3: going to be like in Oxford? What's it going to
- 7:17Speaker 3: be like in Fort Hemingway? Will there be terrible incidents
- 7:20Speaker 3: happening in the stadium? What Lane Kiffin wills to happen
- 7:24Speaker 3: will happen. No one here at Ole Miss wants to
- 7:27Speaker 3: hear that, but it's how he handles it. If he
- 7:30Speaker 3: wants to be quiet and just look at his play
- 7:32Speaker 3: sheet and call plays and do nothing, the.
- 7:35Speaker 2: People here will be fine.
- 7:36Speaker 1: He did that here, though.
- 7:37Speaker 3: If they get a big lead and he starts trash-talking
- 7:39Speaker 3: the crowd and pumping his fist and dunking basketballs on
- 7:42Speaker 3: the sideline.
- 7:44Speaker 2: People are going to be angry. It's that simple. It's
- 7:46Speaker 2: however he wants to play.
- 7:48Speaker 1: And help. You mentioned the lead. That's key in all
- 7:50Speaker 1: of this. Also key, the fans here are already drinking.
- 7:55Speaker 1: It's a night game. They are going to be ready
- 7:58Speaker 1: and charged up. So that plays a factor as well
- 8:01Speaker 1: in what's the biggest, most anticipated game they've seen. I
- 8:05Speaker 1: understand where people are coming from with how people will react,
- 8:08Speaker 1: but they're judging that based on the Tennessee game with Kiffin.
- 8:11Speaker 1: And Chad, as you pointed out, there are circumstances with
- 8:14Speaker 1: that whenever he made his return to Knoxville that played
- 8:17Speaker 1: into the way that the team and the fans started
- 8:22Speaker 1: throwing mustard bottles and golf balls.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Tennessee fans didn't start throwing golf balls and mustard bottles
- 8:27Speaker 3: at him when he walked out of the tunnel when
- 8:28Speaker 3: he ran out. That started late in the game when
- 8:31Speaker 3: Ole Miss was pulling away, and Tennessee got screwed by
- 8:34Speaker 3: their officials, and they got screwed by Lane Kiffin faking
- 8:38Speaker 3: injuries time and time again. If Lane Kiffin is up
- 8:41Speaker 3: to some bullshit tomorrow with faking injuries or doing something
- 8:45Speaker 3: weird or there's a questionable call, mark my word, things
- 8:50Speaker 3: will get rough for Lane Kiffin.
- 8:52Speaker 2: But if he doesn't want that again... It's not going
- 8:54Speaker 2: to happen.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yeah. So I'm looking behind me. We've got the games going.
- 8:57Speaker 1: We've got Texas Tech and Houston. And Miami has also
- 9:02Speaker 1: taken on Wake Forest. Chad, one of your locks, right,
- 9:07Speaker 1: is Miami.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Well, it's the over. So I got over 55.
- 9:11Speaker 1: They may win by that much.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Well, they scored on their first shot. Here's the problem
- 9:14Speaker 3: I'm having this game right now, Hudden. It's tied at seven.
- 9:17Speaker 3: And they both marched for seven minutes to start. So
- 9:21Speaker 3: Miami had a long march. Wake Forest now had a
- 9:24Speaker 3: long march, and because of that, we're not scoring enough
- 9:26Speaker 3: points here. We've got to get it going with Hard
- 9:29Speaker 3: Rock Bet.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Where is it? It's right there.
- 9:31Speaker 4: There it is.
- 9:32Speaker 3: We've got to get it going with Hard Rock Bet
- 9:34Speaker 3: and get some more points going in this game. Hell
- 9:36Speaker 3: of a weekend for college football. Incredible atmosphere here. At
- 9:40Speaker 3: some point, we're just going to start pulling people up.
- 9:43Speaker 3: that look at us and talking to them about the
- 9:45Speaker 3: game and seeing what they want to do. I got
- 9:47Speaker 3: my guy. This is that old frat brother of mine
- 9:49Speaker 3: right here, Greg Fuller, who hosts a podcast of his own.
- 9:52Speaker 2: He just showed up. It's jumping here at Funkies.
- 9:56Speaker 1: So can you even hear what I'm saying?
- 9:58Speaker 3: Yes.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Okay. I can barely hear anything. Join us in the
- 10:00Speaker 1: chat and let us know if you can hear us.
- 10:02Speaker 1: That would be key here. We'll interact with you as
- 10:05Speaker 1: best we can throughout today's show. We're here until 9
- 10:09Speaker 1: o'clock Eastern, by the way, at sportonstate.com. Also, Daily Wire
- 10:12Speaker 1: and at Hunt and Withrow on YouTube. We hope you
- 10:15Speaker 1: give us a subscribe and share the show as well
- 10:18Speaker 1: on Twitter, wherever you're finding it tonight. at Sporting State.
- 10:22Speaker 2: We'll get a sense from Brecca also of what's happening
- 10:23Speaker 2: on the streets.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Oh.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Because she's out there with the Daily Wire with Sporting State,
- 10:28Speaker 3: so we'll find out.
- 10:28Speaker 1: From her what's going on. Your favorite storyline of this
- 10:31Speaker 1: game other than Lane Kiffin. What is it? I've got mine.
- 10:35Speaker 3: It's Ole Miss' sustainability. I mean, it's pretty simple to me.
- 10:39Speaker 3: We've talked to Walker Jones about it. Anybody at Ole
- 10:43Speaker 3: Miss that you talk to, there's a fun vibe this weekend.
- 10:48Speaker 2: There's also an anxiousness.
- 10:49Speaker 1: And anxiety about it. I agree.
- 10:50Speaker 3: I agree. And the whole anxiety. I talked to a
- 10:53Speaker 3: group of Ole Miss students before the show. It's about
- 10:57Speaker 3: can we do it on our own, right? Like everybody
- 11:00Speaker 3: gave in to the gospel of Lane Kiffin.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin, offensive genius. He's a guy who knows what
- 11:07Speaker 2: to do.
- 11:08Speaker 3: People gave in to that and said he's the biggest
- 11:10Speaker 3: reason we're doing this. Now that he's gone, look, Ole Miss,
- 11:13Speaker 3: their money spends. They're spending money on their roster. They're
- 11:17Speaker 3: doing great in NIL. They're doing great in the transfer portal.
- 11:20Speaker 3: The question then becomes, can you sustain this without Lane Kiffin?
- 11:24Speaker 2: And this is the first test. Yes, they beat Louisville
- 11:27Speaker 2: and Nashville.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Great.
- 11:29Speaker 2: This is the first one. If they can beat them
- 11:31Speaker 2: in the first one, that is a huge notch in
- 11:34Speaker 2: the belt of Ole Miss fans.
- 11:36Speaker 1: And what has Billy Lucci told us about Texas A & M?
- 11:40Speaker 1: The challenge is getting back to the college football playoff.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Ole Miss is coming off an historic season. If they're
- 11:46Speaker 1: able to repeat that without Kiffin, that speaks volumes for
- 11:50Speaker 1: where they are. That's a different tier in the Southeastern Conference, right?
- 11:53Speaker 1: My storyline is Trinidad Chambliss. He could have followed Lane
- 11:58Speaker 1: to LSU. That's a good one. He did. And we're
- 12:00Speaker 1: talking more about the quarterback who followed Lane and where
- 12:03Speaker 1: Lane went than the head coach and the quarterback. And
- 12:07Speaker 1: Chambliss was the talk of the nation in college football originally.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Whenever he decided to stay, he was able to play.
- 12:14Speaker 1: I think he puts on a show tomorrow. I really do.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I do too.
- 12:17Speaker 3: That was the prize jewel of what was going to
- 12:19Speaker 3: be Lane Kiffin's first transfer class at LSU.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Didn't work out for him as well as he thought.
- 12:24Speaker 2: I think he's set to have a big game.
- 12:26Speaker 3: I just, I look at this and it's like everyone's
- 12:29Speaker 3: resetting the chessboard a little bit. Because after one week,
- 12:33Speaker 3: what were we talking about? We're talking about LSU blowing
- 12:36Speaker 3: out Clemson, looking like a national title contender in year
- 12:39Speaker 3: one for Lane Kiffin. We're talking about Ole Miss hanging on,
- 12:43Speaker 3: beating Louisville and Nashville, right? We have been building to
- 12:47Speaker 3: this moment in Oxford where we're going to see, can
- 12:50Speaker 3: Ole Miss continue what they've had and what they've been doing?
- 12:53Speaker 2: I'll say this.
- 12:54Speaker 3: If the vibe is in here, is any indication, then
- 12:57Speaker 3: Ole Miss is going to be just fine tomorrow, and
- 13:00Speaker 3: their crowd will be plenty liquored up for whatever's going
- 13:03Speaker 3: to happen in that game.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Tim Cornwell sells, says Hale State, and Bunkies is lit.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Clay is a stone-cold killer beast.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I love that. I love it.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Look, this is what we wanted to do the whole time.
- 13:16Speaker 3: We wanted to do a show with an atmosphere like this.
- 13:18Speaker 3: That's what we're getting to do tonight. We're going to
- 13:20Speaker 3: talk to some of.
- 13:21Speaker 2: The crowd here. We're going to give you analysis about
- 13:23Speaker 2: the game.
- 13:24Speaker 3: But more than anything, what we want to do, what
- 13:26Speaker 3: Jacob Lutz wants to do, what you want to do,
- 13:28Speaker 3: is bring you the vibe of what it's like in
- 13:31Speaker 3: an SEC city the night before a game. I think
- 13:34Speaker 3: Funkies is delivering on that really well.
- 13:36Speaker 1: It's legit, man. Coming up, we're going to preview the game.
- 13:39Speaker 1: We're going to go around the SEC and the top
- 13:41Speaker 1: 25 matchups, and we're going to reset things from here
- 13:43Speaker 1: at Punky's. That's all straight ahead. Jump in the chat.
- 13:46Speaker 1: We're going to share the feeds in just a moment.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Get more people in here and join us. It is
- 13:50Speaker 1: Dixieland Delight Friday night. Yes, we are live in Oxford, sportinstate.com.
- 13:56Speaker 1: It is Dixieland Delight Friday night here across the network.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Hunter Withrow with you, presented by Hard Rock Met. So
- 14:03Speaker 1: if you didn't know that Hard Rock.... bet. play. HardRock.bet.play. Right now, tomorrow,
- 14:10Speaker 1: the Saturday Profit Boost. You've got that available to you
- 14:13Speaker 1: in college football. That's all day tomorrow. On Sunday, you
- 14:17Speaker 1: have the Choose Your Reward. Chad, we need that.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Yeah, we do.
- 14:21Speaker 1: And Friday, Friday Happy Hour. I'm losing my voice already.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Friday Happy Hour. If you missed it, mark your... I
- 14:29Speaker 1: would set an alarm and a reminder. Every Friday from
- 14:32Speaker 1: 4 to 6 p.m. Eastern, you have the ability... to
- 14:36Speaker 1: get a boost through Happy Hour at the app only
- 14:41Speaker 1: from 4 to 6 p.m., which is like here at Funkies. Yeah.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Happy Hour, $ 60 cover.
- 14:46Speaker 2: All the time.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Love it.
- 14:47Speaker 2: All the time here at Funkies, they're getting it done.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Clay wrote a column this week about Holly Rowe and
- 14:52Speaker 3: the whole situation with Steve Sarkeesian, which we need to
- 14:54Speaker 3: talk about again.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:56Speaker 3: But what he said in that, I think, was true.
- 14:59Speaker 3: He said, people will come back and say, well, you
- 15:02Speaker 3: don't need a sideline reporter. Or you don't need someone
- 15:05Speaker 3: in these big events and all that. And that it's
- 15:07Speaker 3: easy and anyone can do it. Clay's, what he wrote
- 15:09Speaker 3: was great. He said, if you believe you can do
- 15:12Speaker 3: it well, you cannot. It's very difficult. There's a lot
- 15:15Speaker 3: going on. There's a lot going on here tonight. There's
- 15:18Speaker 3: a lot of noise going on, and we are going
- 15:20Speaker 3: to push right through it. We're going to talk to
- 15:22Speaker 3: you tonight on the YouTube channel, on Daily Wire.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I think we're on that side as well. So hit
- 15:28Speaker 2: us up in the YouTube chat and let us know.
- 15:29Speaker 1: So let's dive into that for a moment because my
- 15:32Speaker 1: initial reaction was Sarkisian was pissed off about halftime, right?
- 15:37Speaker 1: And Holly Rowe had the resting bitch face. I mean,
- 15:39Speaker 1: let's face it, right after he walked off again. And
- 15:43Speaker 1: she drops her mic. picks it back up like this
- 15:47Speaker 1: as if there's another malfunction with the gear. And so he's,
- 15:51Speaker 1: you know, talking Texas and he's out. And what I
- 15:55Speaker 1: don't think people realize, Chad, is how many people behind
- 15:57Speaker 1: the scenes go into that moment.
- 15:59Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Wrigley, the coach, getting through the huge chaos of postgame. And,
- 16:05Speaker 1: you know, that's her spotlight. She's good at what she does.
- 16:09Speaker 1: But in that moment, I thought about both instead of
- 16:12Speaker 1: just Sarkeesian.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Yeah, and look, everybody can have a bad moment.
- 16:17Speaker 2: They're allowed to do that.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Sure, sure.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Steve Sarkis and I thought had a bad moment. I
- 16:21Speaker 2: thought Holly Rowe had a bad moment after he had
- 16:23Speaker 2: a bad moment.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Sure. He sparked a bad moment from Holly Rowe. There's
- 16:27Speaker 3: a lot of talk about Holly Rowe, and I agree.
- 16:31Speaker 3: For the most part, she should have handled it better.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I don't know if she's trying to garner sympathy as
- 16:36Speaker 3: much as everyone in the media is going to give
- 16:38Speaker 3: her sympathy for this.
- 16:40Speaker 2: But it does feel like, you know, is she playing
- 16:42Speaker 2: the victim? Is she not?
- 16:43Speaker 3: I don't know that she's doing that necessarily. But here's
- 16:46Speaker 3: what happened. Arch Manning apologized. And I don't think he
- 16:50Speaker 3: ever should have apologized. It should have just gone away.
- 16:53Speaker 3: There's no need to apologize. If you want to privately call...
- 16:57Speaker 3: You know, Holly Roe. I'd be like, hey, I thought
- 16:59Speaker 3: it was funny, but I didn't really know the full
- 17:01Speaker 3: context of the video or whatever.
- 17:03Speaker 2: That's fine.
- 17:04Speaker 3: But there's also no need to apologize after.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Well, apologize for everything is where we are, right? There's
- 17:12Speaker 1: no need to do that. That was harmless. Let's face it.
- 17:17Speaker 1: That was arched in a real moment. And that's everybody
- 17:20Speaker 1: on social media privately. But let's also, everyone's doom-scrolling. And
- 17:25Speaker 1: reacting the same way in many cases.
- 17:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:27Speaker 1: And if you're not in... If you're ridiculing that, then
- 17:31Speaker 1: are you watching Game of Thrones? If you don't like violent...
- 17:34Speaker 1: Are you watching Game of Thrones in a fake setting?
- 17:38Speaker 1: I mean, are you going to apologize for watching the Dothraki?
- 17:44Speaker 1: You know, that's where we are. It wasn't needed. It's over.
- 17:49Speaker 1: At least I hope. And, hey, next week, you and Clay...
- 17:54Speaker 1: Get center stage for Texas and Tennessee.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't wait. And I'm sure we'll still be
- 17:58Speaker 3: talking about it then. But Texas and Knoxville, the first
- 18:02Speaker 3: battle of who's the real UT in football between Texas
- 18:05Speaker 3: and Tennessee and the SEC.
- 18:07Speaker 2: I absolutely cannot wait.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Let's say this real quick. You don't care about the UT.
- 18:12Speaker 1: You don't want it to be UT, right? You just
- 18:14Speaker 1: want it to be Tennessee.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I want it to be Tennessee.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:17Speaker 2: I also don't want it to be UTK.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 18:19Speaker 3: It's not UTK. It's either UT or it's Tennessee. It's
- 18:23Speaker 3: not UTK. UTC can be UTC. UT Martin can be UTM.
- 18:29Speaker 3: There's one UT in Tennessee, and it's the University of Tennessee.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Let's put that on the record.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Somehow, Lane Kiffin in this game, I feel like has
- 18:38Speaker 1: flipped the pressure to Ole Miss. I don't know how
- 18:40Speaker 1: he's done it, but I felt like over January, he–
- 18:46Speaker 1: bringing LSU back here, the pressure was going to be
- 18:49Speaker 1: all on him. And he has done a tremendous job
- 18:52Speaker 1: of making Ole Miss fans feel like they must win
- 18:55Speaker 1: this game to define their program. I think Ole Miss
- 19:00Speaker 1: faces the most pressure. What do you think?
- 19:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I think when Elaine Kimmel was at Tennessee... He
- 19:05Speaker 2: was big on, I'm.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Going to talk all this trash, and I'm going to
- 19:08Speaker 3: put everything on me and let my players go and play.
- 19:11Speaker 3: He's following the same playbook and script right now.
- 19:14Speaker 2: He is taking it on. He's talking the trash.
- 19:17Speaker 3: He's giving out the fake injury reports about Sam Leavitt
- 19:20Speaker 3: as quarterback. in order for his team to go out,
- 19:23Speaker 3: play free, play loose, play the way he wants them
- 19:26Speaker 3: to play. He's done it before. He's doing it this week.
- 19:30Speaker 3: We're going to see if it works, right? Pete Golding
- 19:33Speaker 3: is taking the it's not about me approach. It's about them.
- 19:36Speaker 3: I'm not going to do the walk of champions. I'm
- 19:38Speaker 3: not going to do that with a team. It's about them.
- 19:40Speaker 3: I don't want to steal their spotlight. Very different approach
- 19:43Speaker 3: going on with both of them.
- 19:44Speaker 1: They have been doing that for months now, right? Ignoring
- 19:47Speaker 1: the Lane Kiffin drama and trying to stay focused. which
- 19:50Speaker 1: is difficult to do. They did it for a short
- 19:53Speaker 1: period of time during the college football playoff in a
- 19:55Speaker 1: historic season. But now all the drama, they knew this
- 19:59Speaker 1: was going to be like this. And instead of buying
- 20:02Speaker 1: into it or playing into it, they have been trying
- 20:05Speaker 1: to ignore it. I think it's more difficult to ignore
- 20:06Speaker 1: it than it is to play into it. personality-wise. There's
- 20:12Speaker 1: no way that you block it out whatsoever.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Can we just say, how about Mississippi? How about Ole Miss?
- 20:17Speaker 1: How about the SIP?
- 20:18Speaker 2: How about the scenery here?
- 20:19Speaker 1: The SIP.
- 20:20Speaker 2: How about Funky's Bar? How about the daiquiris?
- 20:23Speaker 3: How about Jacob Lutz getting us on air as one
- 20:25Speaker 3: man and not a team of engineers and producers? One
- 20:28Speaker 3: person has us on here doing this. If you're in
- 20:32Speaker 3: the YouTube chat, hit us up with comments. We'll read
- 20:34Speaker 3: them during the breaks and get back to you. But
- 20:37Speaker 3: this is an incredible setting for a college football weekend
- 20:41Speaker 3: here in Oxford, Mississippi, as we are getting you set
- 20:44Speaker 3: for LSU.
- 20:45Speaker 1: At Ole Miss. John Kruger says pressure is on Kiffin.
- 20:50Speaker 1: He doesn't want to lose to the school he left.
- 20:52Speaker 1: That's true. But he has been able to finagle this
- 20:56Speaker 1: to where everybody's on his side somehow.
- 20:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:00Speaker 1: You know, they're– Well– I mean, he's made it about
- 21:02Speaker 1: him instead of the team. And meanwhile, he's making it
- 21:05Speaker 1: about Ole Miss facing the pressure to win this game
- 21:08Speaker 1: against their head coach who they hate.
- 21:10Speaker 2: No one's on Kiffin's side in terms of wanting him
- 21:12Speaker 2: to win.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Well, ESPN is.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Except for LSU.
- 21:14Speaker 3: And, yes, Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit probably also want
- 21:17Speaker 3: him to win. Other than that, it's all about Ole Miss.
- 21:20Speaker 3: I told some Ole Miss alums over here earlier– I
- 21:25Speaker 3: want this for you guys.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I really do.
- 21:28Speaker 3: This is the moment you can deliver on a national
- 21:31Speaker 3: stage here and say, you know what? He left us
- 21:34Speaker 3: in a pinch. He left us in a lurch. He
- 21:37Speaker 3: left us before the college football playoff, but we're going
- 21:40Speaker 3: to be fine. It's one night to prove that, that
- 21:43Speaker 3: you can be fine.
- 21:44Speaker 1: And storm the field. I don't know where they're taking
- 21:47Speaker 1: the goalposts if they win, but we'll try to follow them.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Josh in the chat says, I'm guessing the scenery is amazing. Yes, Josh.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Josh Castile, you're correct.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Our older gentleman lift driver on the way over here,
- 22:02Speaker 3: as he dropped us off, said, the scenery here is fantastic,
- 22:07Speaker 3: if you know what I mean. And I looked at Frank,
- 22:10Speaker 3: and I said, yeah, Frank, we know what you mean.
- 22:11Speaker 3: We know exactly what you mean here at Ole Miss, yes.
- 22:15Speaker 1: We are going to reset the scenery and get back
- 22:18Speaker 1: to you on what's it like outside on the streets.
- 22:21Speaker 1: In the hood here in Oxford, there's a lot to
- 22:23Speaker 1: get to. We're going to preview the game, hit the
- 22:25Speaker 1: chat as well. We hope you'll share the feed. Talk's
- 22:27Speaker 1: coming up straight ahead here on Dixieland Delight Friday night.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Cheers to you from Sporting State. It's Dixieland Delight Friday
- 22:35Speaker 1: night with Hunt and Withrow presented by Hard Rock Bet.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Hardrock.bet.com is where you can take advantage of the $ 5 offer.
- 22:42Speaker 1: You bet $ 5. 00. and you get $ 100 in bonus bets
- 22:47Speaker 1: from Hard Rock Bet. Gus joins us from SwartonState.com. This
- 22:53Speaker 1: is my first time to Oxford.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Mine too.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Your too.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Mine too.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Describe it outside.
- 22:57Speaker 4: I mean, this is crazy what's going on right now.
- 22:59Speaker 4: I mean, my first time, like I said, in Oxford.
- 23:01Speaker 4: The streets are flooded. Mostly Ole Miss fans, but there's
- 23:06Speaker 4: a good amount of LSU people here.
- 23:08Speaker 1: It's really setting the tone.
- 23:09Speaker 4: I'm hoping to see some more LSU fans in here, but,
- 23:11Speaker 4: I mean, this environment's been unreal.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Have you seen any fights between LSU fans and Ole Miss?
- 23:15Speaker 1: Just to set the scene here.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Not yet, but there's too many cops outside, so I
- 23:19Speaker 4: think that there's a chance that we're preventing it a
- 23:21Speaker 4: little bit.
- 23:22Speaker 3: I feel a little bit like Steve Buscemi and the
- 23:25Speaker 3: thing about, hey, hello, fellow kids. When I'm in here,
- 23:28Speaker 3: we have an actual young person here in Gus Wilson,
- 23:31Speaker 3: so that's good to get your vibe. You know, our
- 23:33Speaker 3: driver on the way over said, the scenery's really good
- 23:37Speaker 3: in Oxford, if you know what I mean.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Wink, wink.
- 23:39Speaker 3: And I'm like, we know what you mean, sir. How
- 23:41Speaker 3: is it for a young man here in Oxford, Mississippi,
- 23:44Speaker 3: for the first time?
- 23:45Speaker 4: Listen, I mean, it's kind of everything people make it
- 23:47Speaker 4: up to be. I'll leave it at that. But, I mean,
- 23:49Speaker 4: it's awesome here. I've been to a lot of SEC towns,
- 23:52Speaker 4: but Ole Miss is working its way up for sure.
- 23:54Speaker 3: So you went to Auburn at one point. You've experienced
- 23:57Speaker 3: game days there. You haven't been to a game day
- 24:00Speaker 3: yet here.
- 24:00Speaker 2: That'll happen tomorrow.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Your thoughts on just the general vibe of the town
- 24:04Speaker 3: and the size compared to Auburn?
- 24:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's awesome.
- 24:07Speaker 4: I'm a really big fan of the small college town
- 24:10Speaker 4: with the way the SEC works and the way people
- 24:12Speaker 4: are walking around. Like, everyone's been super nice, super awesome.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Definitely that southern hospitality that I've seen a lot at Auburn.
- 24:19Speaker 1: But, man, it's given me very, very similar vibes for sure.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Do you want Jimbo Fisher to return to Florida State?
- 24:25Speaker 3: This is the question to an FSU alum. When will
- 24:29Speaker 3: Mike Norvell be fired? Will it be at halftime tomorrow
- 24:31Speaker 3: when they're down 28-0 to Alabama?
- 24:34Speaker 2: And do you want Jimbo Fisher to return?
- 24:38Speaker 4: Norvell will be here at least through Central Arkansas. That
- 24:41Speaker 4: is where he went to school. He's going to be
- 24:44Speaker 4: fired in the week following Miami during that bye week
- 24:46Speaker 4: before Clemson.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I don't want Jimbo.
- 24:50Speaker 2: When is the Central Arkansas game?
- 24:52Speaker 1: The weekend after this.
- 24:53Speaker 2: The weekend after. He'll survive a.
- 24:56Speaker 4: Little bit, but I mean, if we walk in with
- 24:58Speaker 4: Jimbo next year, I'm not in.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Do you have a frontrunner for who you want for
- 25:02Speaker 3: the job, and is that frontrunner coaching in the game tomorrow?
- 25:06Speaker 1: It would be.
- 25:06Speaker 4: Listen, Charlie Weiss, if you're hearing this, come to Tallahassee,
- 25:10Speaker 4: I promise you.
- 25:11Speaker 1: I know Lane loves LSU and loves LSU.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Charlie Weiss just did a Jaeger bomb on the other
- 25:14Speaker 3: side of the bar, actually, so he's here, yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 1: He's here right now at the bar. You guys just
- 25:19Speaker 1: missed him. He was just walking by. You guys missed him.
- 25:21Speaker 1: I think he's waiting on Lane to go to Alabama. Oh, yeah.
- 25:25Speaker 4: I mean, listen, Charlie Weiss will be a Seminole next year,
- 25:29Speaker 4: fingers crossed.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Charlie Weiss Jr. we're talking about, by the way. Charlie
- 25:33Speaker 3: Weiss Jr., we should distinguish that. Gus, you're the man.
- 25:35Speaker 3: You've got great energy.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Real quick.
- 25:37Speaker 2: You're doing a good job of sporting today. Thank you
- 25:39Speaker 2: so much.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Let everyone know what you're doing at the site here
- 25:41Speaker 1: at Oxford.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Yeah, so right now, Brecca Stoll and I, who you
- 25:44Speaker 4: guys will be hearing from in a second, we're making
- 25:46Speaker 4: a little man-on-the-street content. Make sure you check that out. Instagram, TikTok, Axe,
- 25:50Speaker 4: all sport and state. And then for the company, I'm
- 25:52Speaker 4: one of the staff writers. You can find me at atbygustwilson.
- 25:56Speaker 1: All the great stuff. Did you recognize Isabella Danger when
- 25:58Speaker 1: you saw her last week? No comment. Next question.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Smart man.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Future politician.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Future politician, Gus Wilson.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I recognize her. Great job.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Great job by Gus Wilson.
- 26:09Speaker 1: We're down in Miami.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Brecca Stoll is here, too. Brecca, come in the mix.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Are you having fun? Oh, I'm having so much fun.
- 26:16Speaker 6: The crowd outside is very excited, very ready.
- 26:19Speaker 1: For this game tomorrow. Are you ready for sports instead
- 26:23Speaker 1: of politics? I think so. Yes.
- 26:26Speaker 6: In politics, it's just so divisive.
- 26:28Speaker 2: And even a big divide.
- 26:29Speaker 1: It's divisive here.
- 26:31Speaker 6: But still, at the end of the day, you're coming together.
- 26:35Speaker 6: And people don't hate you, truly hate you, if you're
- 26:37Speaker 6: on the other team.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Too many cops here, Chad.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Brega didn't see the guy just flip us off as
- 26:42Speaker 2: he walked by.
- 26:43Speaker 3: She's going to find soon enough that the SEC is
- 26:46Speaker 3: divisive enough.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Baby was all in love.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Maybe, maybe. I doubt it.
- 26:51Speaker 3: But I think we said something good about Ole Miss
- 26:52Speaker 3: and they were an LSU fan. So we'll allow it.
- 26:55Speaker 2: We'll forgive them for it.
- 26:57Speaker 3: What's it like, just the general vibe on the streets
- 27:00Speaker 3: the night before a game? Because you're going to find
- 27:02Speaker 3: tomorrow is going to be very different leading up to it.
- 27:05Speaker 2: But right now, is everyone happy? Are they ready to go?
- 27:08Speaker 2: What's it like?
- 27:08Speaker 1: Everyone's optimistic.
- 27:10Speaker 6: You can feel the energy building. So I already interviewed
- 27:13Speaker 6: my first guy who was completely out of it. I
- 27:15Speaker 6: think he was ahead of the pack, already drunk, ready
- 27:18Speaker 6: to party tonight.
- 27:19Speaker 1: He's a pro.
- 27:20Speaker 6: I think we're going to start to see more of
- 27:21Speaker 6: that as it goes on. But they are angry at
- 27:24Speaker 6: Lane Kiffin. They are angry at LSU. And it's not
- 27:27Speaker 6: just Lane Kiffin. They're shooting strays at Landry Kiffin.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yeah. And she goes to school here. Yeah.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Who is the drunkest person you've seen so far? And
- 27:37Speaker 3: are they somewhere around us right now?
- 27:40Speaker 4: It's Gus.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Just kidding.
- 27:41Speaker 4: It's not Gus.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Definitely Gus. What a great response. Dynamite response.
- 27:46Speaker 2: I love that.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Seriously, there's got to be someone nearly passed out already outside, right?
- 27:51Speaker 6: One of my interviews outside came up to.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Me, didn't have to ask, and was like, are we live?
- 27:56Speaker 1: And I was like, sure. Just videoing with the iPhone camera,
- 27:59Speaker 1: ready to rock and roll. Best question you've asked that
- 28:01Speaker 1: has the best responses so far. We've got to scoot up.
- 28:04Speaker 3: We've got to scoot up because we just had a
- 28:05Speaker 3: guy walk right in front of us. Like he's never
- 28:08Speaker 3: been around a camera or a microphone before.
- 28:09Speaker 1: In his life. Best response you've had. So we're playing
- 28:12Speaker 1: this game.
- 28:13Speaker 2: I got you next.
- 28:14Speaker 6: Oh, that's the guy.
- 28:15Speaker 2: That's my drunk guy from later.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Oh, here he is. Let's go. What's going on? The
- 28:19Speaker 1: drunkest man so far here at Oxford.
- 28:22Speaker 5: Absolutely not, but I love the intensity of you guys.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Are you just drinking Michelob Ultras?
- 28:28Speaker 1: What do you have? No, sir. That's a Coors Light.
- 28:31Speaker 1: A Tatharakis. Tatharakis, right?
- 28:33Speaker 2: This is a Michelob Ultra. Look at the top.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Coors on the side.
- 28:37Speaker 2: He makes a course. Oh, I got you.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I got you.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Hey, is this an Ole Miss hat? I love that.
- 28:42Speaker 2: It's similar to the Buffalo Bills hats back in the day.
- 28:45Speaker 1: So, there's no doubt you're going to be wearing this
- 28:47Speaker 1: to the game tomorrow. You're just going straight through.
- 28:49Speaker 2: No, we're going to get straight through.
- 28:51Speaker 1: We're going to get right here for puggies.
- 28:54Speaker 5: We're going to get some pizza right over here from Tay. And,
- 28:59Speaker 5: you know, we're going to have a hell of a time.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Are you the man who's going to fight Lane Kiffin?
- 29:04Speaker 1: You know what?
- 29:05Speaker 5: I wish him the best of luck, but, you know,
- 29:08Speaker 5: I think we all can tell him to beat rocks.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Sir, do you have a home here tonight or are
- 29:13Speaker 2: you homeless?
- 29:15Speaker 1: Say again?
- 29:16Speaker 2: Do you have a home here or are you homeless?
- 29:18Speaker 1: Are you good? No, no, we're not homeless. We're going home.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Where is home? Oxford, Mississippi. I didn't hear a.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Word that I just said.
- 29:28Speaker 4: Where?
- 29:29Speaker 2: Oxford, Mississippi. Oh, so you have a place to stay.
- 29:32Speaker 2: That's awesome. I love to hear that. Hey, what's your
- 29:35Speaker 2: score prediction tomorrow?
- 29:36Speaker 1: What's going to happen? I like 30.
- 29:40Speaker 5: 38, slam the over, and then I got 38-21 Ole Miss.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Wow.
- 29:47Speaker 2: 38-21 Ole Miss.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Slam the over. You heard it here from this homeless guy.
- 29:51Speaker 3: That's what's going to happen. It's going to happen big
- 29:53Speaker 3: time tomorrow.
- 29:54Speaker 1: What's your name, sir? Drew. Drew. Drunk Drew.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Hey, big night ahead. Have a good one.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Hell, yes. Look at this guy. Andrew is not going
- 30:05Speaker 1: to make it. Andrew is not going to make it
- 30:07Speaker 1: to the game, Chad.
- 30:08Speaker 3: That guy will have to be told at 10.30 p.m.
- 30:11Speaker 3: tomorrow night what happened in that game.
- 30:12Speaker 2: He's not going to see it.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Himself, that's for sure. He's headed to Olive Branch tonight.
- 30:15Speaker 1: He's not headed to Oxford. Hey, we've got more coming.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Where's the guy that walked right in front of us?
- 30:22Speaker 1: Let's have him on next. Let's get the guy that
- 30:24Speaker 1: walked right in front of us on. If this were
- 30:27Speaker 1: in the age of Henry VIII, Drunken Drew would be
- 30:30Speaker 1: executed for still being around us right now. Amen. And
- 30:34Speaker 1: go Rebs, baby.
- 30:35Speaker 3: I like to refer to him as Homeless Drew. Not
- 30:38Speaker 3: Drunken Drew. Homeless Drew.
- 30:39Speaker 1: No, I got a home. But, but, it is my home.
- 30:44Speaker 2: You're awesome. You got to get the hell out of here, though.
- 30:47Speaker 1: You got to go. Chad, he's actually sober. Believe that.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Can you believe that?
- 30:50Speaker 2: You would hate to see this guy drunk.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Do not get this on the news. No, sober, drunk,
- 30:56Speaker 1: and free, baby. Put that one. God bless you. I
- 31:00Speaker 1: don't know what he said. You'd hate to see this
- 31:02Speaker 1: guy drunk. Yeah, yes. I got Lutz going. I don't
- 31:05Speaker 1: know what he said, Lutz, but yeah.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Andrew the Defiant just joined us.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Home of the free. Home of the brave.
- 31:10Speaker 2: So in the break, what happened?
- 31:12Speaker 3: We just got invited to the Shark Tent, which is,
- 31:15Speaker 3: you know about the Land Sharks defense.
- 31:16Speaker 1: The group behind us. They're not going to come over
- 31:18Speaker 1: and talk about it.
- 31:19Speaker 2: It's very exclusive.
- 31:20Speaker 3: But myself, Hutton, Jacob Lutz, Brecka, everybody here got invited
- 31:25Speaker 3: to the Shark Tent.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Everyone to the bar.
- 31:26Speaker 3: That's all we know, but we cannot publicize it. But
- 31:29Speaker 3: that's where we'll be in the Grove. That's what we're
- 31:30Speaker 3: going to be doing.
- 31:31Speaker 1: See, I don't know what is known and what's not.
- 31:34Speaker 1: So whenever they mention the Shark Tent, I have no idea.
- 31:37Speaker 1: I just say I'm down. Yes, it's the biggest tent going. So, yeah,
- 31:40Speaker 1: we'll do it. I mean, I can't wait. And we'll
- 31:44Speaker 1: be there.
- 31:44Speaker 3: By the way, Miami's up 21-7 on Wake Forest. So
- 31:48Speaker 3: my bet's starting to get.
- 31:49Speaker 1: A little bit better. Oh, you're good, man, because it's
- 31:50Speaker 1: second quarter. Midway through the second quarter.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Also, I think Houston's up 10-0 right now on Texas Tech.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Yep, 10-0 Houston.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Houston has not won that game in a while. It's
- 32:01Speaker 1: been a while, especially at Texas Tech. What's up with
- 32:06Speaker 1: all the– I don't like these Friday night games. I
- 32:07Speaker 1: like college football. Gus, be our security.
- 32:11Speaker 5: We are.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Get this guy out of here, Gus.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Get out of here.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Where did Gus go?
- 32:16Speaker 1: He's got a switchblade on him. I'm messing with him.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Get out of here. Go drink your Coors Light. He's good.
- 32:22Speaker 1: He's good. He's making a little ultra. Yeah. I love
- 32:26Speaker 1: how he's trying to save his Coors Light. What a
- 32:28Speaker 1: drunken travesty.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Who's sponsoring that guy?
- 32:32Speaker 1: No one. Who is sponsoring him? It's a brilliant move, though.
- 32:36Speaker 1: To tell anyone you're sponsored in this town? Who's going
- 32:38Speaker 1: to believe it, though? In this town?
- 32:40Speaker 2: Jacob knows what I'm talking about. Who's going to believe.
- 32:42Speaker 1: That that guy's sponsored by Hard Rock? Oh, believe it.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Believe it.
- 32:44Speaker 2: I'd love to walk in.
- 32:44Speaker 1: I can't believe it, but believe it.
- 32:45Speaker 3: People are coming in like, oh, you guys are sponsored
- 32:47Speaker 3: by Hard Rock Bet, which we are. But anyone else
- 32:50Speaker 3: sees that, I'm like, that guy's not sponsored by anyone.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Come on.
- 32:53Speaker 2: It's ridiculous.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Have you had the daiquiri yet here at Funky's? I
- 32:57Speaker 1: have not.
- 32:58Speaker 2: It looks like a.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Orange slice.
- 33:00Speaker 2: A tequila sunrise is what that looks like.
- 33:02Speaker 1: It does. It is called the Octane.
- 33:05Speaker 3: We've got to get Hutton some tape so he stays
- 33:07Speaker 3: in one spot over here so he can be in
- 33:09Speaker 3: the camera the whole time.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Can I taste it? Yeah, go ahead. Well, to be honest,
- 33:13Speaker 1: Drew got me off kilter here.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Drew does that.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Put me where you need me. I will say... We are.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Way behind everybody else here, and the drunk on contact
- 33:25Speaker 3: availability of everyone in this room right now is pretty incredible.
- 33:29Speaker 3: They rub up against you, and you feel like they're
- 33:30Speaker 3: sweating on you.
- 33:31Speaker 1: I was stunned that it was $ 60 at 530. That
- 33:34Speaker 1: sets the scene. That's all you need to know. That's
- 33:35Speaker 1: the energy.
- 33:36Speaker 2: I thought it was a joke. I thought he was joking.
- 33:39Speaker 3: I thought the guy who said that to us was
- 33:41Speaker 3: telling a really funny joke. When he said $ 60, I laughed.
- 33:45Speaker 3: And I kept walking. He said, no, $ 60. And I said,
- 33:48Speaker 3: we're here with a podcast. And he said, you know what, sir?
- 33:51Speaker 3: You may enter. You may walk in.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Oh, you know Clay? Go ahead, sir.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. You know Lee. That's the better person
- 33:58Speaker 2: to ask for.
- 33:58Speaker 1: So far, there are two people that think I'm Clay.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I was in the restroom line. Both came up to
- 34:04Speaker 1: me and asked if I was Clay.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Did they thank you for your service to America?
- 34:07Speaker 3: They weren't.
- 34:08Speaker 1: That's tomorrow when they're wearing seersucker suits.
- 34:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Hey, man, keep the fight going.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I love what you're doing for the country.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Don't ever stop. Don't ever stop.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Hey, Luke, make a note on your phone to remind
- 34:20Speaker 3: me everywhere we go in the Grove to walk up
- 34:22Speaker 3: to Hutton and say that so people hear it.
- 34:24Speaker 2: So I'm like, hey, man, thanks for your service.
- 34:26Speaker 1: All you got to do. Keep it up. Keep it up.
- 34:28Speaker 1: And I have asked Laura, Clay's wife is, at the
- 34:31Speaker 1: red carpet for Nate Margazzi on the breadwinner. What should
- 34:34Speaker 1: I respond with whenever someone says that? And I just say,
- 34:38Speaker 1: thank you so much. And then I have been under
- 34:40Speaker 1: a tent. You've been there where someone has thought I
- 34:42Speaker 1: was Clay. Clay was over the corner and laughed as
- 34:45Speaker 1: I signed his autograph. And I just do a big
- 34:47Speaker 1: C with a slash.
- 34:48Speaker 3: You also want to see the difference between men and
- 34:50Speaker 3: women here. A lot of people can't define the difference
- 34:53Speaker 3: between a man and a woman. Hence where we are
- 34:55Speaker 3: in sports right now. The difference between men and women is,
- 34:58Speaker 3: Lutz can attest, the man was the one person who
- 35:01Speaker 3: walked in front of the set.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Yes.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Every lady who's walked past has gone politely behind us
- 35:06Speaker 3: knowing that we're doing a show. The level of awareness
- 35:10Speaker 3: from the ladies, way higher than the level of awareness
- 35:13Speaker 3: from men.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Well, drunken Drew you're talking about.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Homeless Drew. Homeless Drew. Let's get it trending.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Homeless Andrew. Homeless Andrew.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Homeless Drew.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Hey, we've got score updates for you, a preview of
- 35:25Speaker 1: tomorrow's games, and much more straight ahead here on sportsstate.com.
- 35:30Speaker 1: I always want to say, afternoon delight. Like in honor
- 35:33Speaker 1: of old school, not old school.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Good Will Hunting.
- 35:35Speaker 3: I think of Good Will Hunting when Matt Damon sings
- 35:37Speaker 3: Afternoon Delight. That's what I think about when I hear that.
- 35:40Speaker 1: But, yeah. I think of Rob Burgundy.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Dixieland Delight, Friday night. We are here, Oxford, Mississippi, Funkies.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Yes.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Hey, huge shout out to Lee Harris, the owner here
- 35:49Speaker 3: at Funkies. Walker Jones for helping facilitate this. Lee has
- 35:53Speaker 3: been an excellent host. Amazing spot he has here. He's
- 35:56Speaker 3: got his brother's corner here. for his fallen brother who
- 35:59Speaker 3: died in the line of duty, Mississippi State Trooper, a
- 36:03Speaker 3: highway patrolman. Big thanks to Lee for having us out here.
- 36:08Speaker 3: Amazing night. Great vibes all around Oxford.
- 36:10Speaker 1: He opened this 18 years ago.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 36:12Speaker 1: And it's safe to say it's profitable.
- 36:14Speaker 3: Yes.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Let's put it that way. Hard Rock Bet, our presenting
- 36:18Speaker 1: sponsor on everything we do at Sporting State. Right now. Tomorrow,
- 36:22Speaker 1: profit boost every Saturday for college football. Plus, you have
- 36:27Speaker 1: the Sunday Choose Your Reward. And if you missed it today,
- 36:31Speaker 1: I love this, the happy hour boost. You have the
- 36:35Speaker 1: happy hour 4 to 6 p.m. Eastern every single Friday.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Set your alarm, set your reminders every Friday at 4.
- 36:41Speaker 1: What about that?
- 36:43Speaker 2: You think I'll put this on?
- 36:44Speaker 1: Good luck.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Oh, there's something blocking it.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Yeah, it's blocking it.
- 36:49Speaker 2: I was going to do it. I'll be your clown.
- 36:50Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 36:51Speaker 1: It's a prop.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Amazing-looking helmet. I love that.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Love it. Love it. Chad, let's go through your top
- 36:58Speaker 1: ten games in the college football weekend. Yeah, let's do it.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Featured every single Friday at Huntington-Withrow, every morning, every weekday,
- 37:04Speaker 1: Friday morning, at SportsNate.com. NC State-Vanderbilt is your number ten game.
- 37:09Speaker 3: I think I felt a lot better about this game
- 37:12Speaker 3: before this season. I don't feel as good about Vandy now.
- 37:14Speaker 3: I think it's going to be.
- 37:16Speaker 2: A really close game. I think Vandy finds a way
- 37:17Speaker 2: to win, though.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I don't know why you start the freshman now instead
- 37:20Speaker 1: of letting him start two games ago.
- 37:22Speaker 3: I'm going to play Vandy minus three and a half
- 37:24Speaker 3: in this game.
- 37:24Speaker 1: I've done that, too. West Virginia and Virginia, battle of
- 37:27Speaker 1: the battle hymns. Virginia won this. I think Virginia's pretty good.
- 37:32Speaker 1: I think they destroyed NC State. I think they're going
- 37:34Speaker 1: to win this game easily. Favored by four and a half.
- 37:36Speaker 2: I like the Cavs in this one.
- 37:38Speaker 1: UNC at Clemson. Can Bill Belichick pull off a victory
- 37:42Speaker 1: on the road at Clemson at Memorial?
- 37:45Speaker 3: Tate Reynolds, freshman quarterback, going for Clemson. Hutton, I'm going
- 37:48Speaker 3: to shock you right now.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Oh, go ahead.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Give me UNC Moneyline.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Wow.
- 37:52Speaker 3: North Carolina is going to go in there, backs against
- 37:54Speaker 3: the wall. Bill Belichick, defensive genius.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Without his son.
- 37:59Speaker 2: He's going to throw a lot.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Without his son.
- 38:00Speaker 3: His other son's coaching though now. His younger son, I'm serious.
- 38:04Speaker 3: Brian Belichick is now the defensive coordinator. They're going to
- 38:06Speaker 3: throw the kitchen sink at him. Give me UNC Moneyline.
- 38:09Speaker 1: I took Clemson minus six and a half there. Kentucky
- 38:12Speaker 1: and Texas A & M. I rolled with the Aggies
- 38:15Speaker 1: at home against the Wildcats, who do not play well
- 38:18Speaker 1: on the road in the SEC.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Year one for Will Stein. Things will get better, Wildcat fans.
- 38:23Speaker 3: That's what I'll say. They'll get better. It's not going
- 38:25Speaker 3: to be great tomorrow. I think this is close to
- 38:27Speaker 3: double the spread. It's 13 and a half. It's not
- 38:29Speaker 3: double the spread. It's close to that, Chad. Florida State
- 38:32Speaker 3: and Alabama. This is not double the spread, but Alabama's
- 38:36Speaker 3: favored by 19 and a half for a reason.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Roll tide.
- 38:38Speaker 3: I think Alabama covers. They win easily. I think Mike
- 38:41Speaker 3: Norvell's in trouble. Our guy Gus says not till after
- 38:44Speaker 3: Central Arkansas when he plays his alma mater.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Keep your powder dry. Keep your powder dry. SMU and Louisville.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Maybe Louisville at home. Okay, that's your number five game.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Jeff Brom's good in big games. Not so good in
- 38:56Speaker 3: games you feel like they're going to win easily. I
- 38:58Speaker 3: think Louisville wins tomorrow.
- 38:59Speaker 1: The number four game you can see over my shoulder
- 39:01Speaker 1: right now, Houston and Texas Tech.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Yeah, and right now it is Houston up 10-0 at
- 39:06Speaker 3: Texas Tech. It's been a struggle for Texas Tech.
- 39:09Speaker 5: It has.
- 39:09Speaker 3: They gave up 20 points twice all of last year.
- 39:12Speaker 3: They gave up 24 to Oregon State in week two.
- 39:16Speaker 3: I think Houston is going to hold on to this.
- 39:18Speaker 3: They're looking good right now as I watch Texas Tech
- 39:21Speaker 3: throw it into the end zone, but it's still Houston
- 39:24Speaker 3: 10-0 over the Red Raiders.
- 39:26Speaker 1: The top three of the week are all SEC matchups,
- 39:29Speaker 1: Florida and Auburn. I think, is a rock fight. I
- 39:31Speaker 1: think this is a battle. Take the under if you're
- 39:34Speaker 1: betting this game.
- 39:35Speaker 3: I like Auburn at home of the battle of... Who
- 39:38Speaker 3: was John Sumrall going to pick?
- 39:40Speaker 4: Why?
- 39:41Speaker 2: Florida over Auburn.
- 39:42Speaker 3: I think Auburn gets it done at home. By the way,
- 39:44Speaker 3: Texas Tech just scored 10-7. 10-7 now, Houston. I want
- 39:47Speaker 3: to give Chad props on this. He has been all
- 39:50Speaker 3: over Mississippi State. Don't listen to the other analysts that
- 39:52Speaker 3: are getting on board this week. There have been like zero,
- 39:56Speaker 3: zero opportunities I could point to and say this guy
- 40:01Speaker 3: was all over Mississippi State other than Withrow.
- 40:03Speaker 1: He's been all over the Bulldogs because of their quarterback play,
- 40:06Speaker 1: and they're taking on South Carolina on the road tomorrow.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Sorry to all the Rebels in here. Hale State, Mississippi
- 40:11Speaker 3: State wins outright in Columbia, South Carolina. Kamario Taylor is
- 40:16Speaker 3: a dude.
- 40:17Speaker 1: He is.
- 40:17Speaker 2: I've been saying it all year.
- 40:18Speaker 3: He is a Heisman Trophy contender either this year or next.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Mississippi State wins on the road.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Are they going to be able to keep him?
- 40:26Speaker 2: Are they going to be able to what?
- 40:26Speaker 1: They're going to be able to keep him in Mississippi State.
- 40:28Speaker 1: They don't pay.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:29Speaker 3: They'll pay. They'll come up with the money. They're going
- 40:32Speaker 3: to get out the couch cushions. Everyone in Starkville will stay.
- 40:34Speaker 3: They'll find enough money for that guy.
- 40:36Speaker 1: He'll be there. We'll see. Ole Miss will pay. We
- 40:38Speaker 1: know that. So will Lane Kiffin. And so will LSU.
- 40:42Speaker 1: They have paid the price to bring Lane Kiffin to
- 40:45Speaker 1: Baton Rouge, and now he's on the road.
- 40:46Speaker 2: We've got a Texas Tech fan.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Oh, you're a Tech fan.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Hey, wreck of Tech, baby. Let's go.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Hey, big Tech fan over here. Time to win. Time
- 40:52Speaker 1: to win. Tech just scored.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Tech just scored.
- 40:54Speaker 1: There you go. He didn't know. He didn't know. He
- 40:56Speaker 1: was too busy talking to some blondes.
- 40:59Speaker 2: He's wearing the jersey, but I know the score.
- 41:01Speaker 1: He has smoked a Marlboro Harmonica tonight. I can tell that.
- 41:04Speaker 2: He's running.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Ole Miss LSU. I'm taking Ole Miss money line. This
- 41:09Speaker 1: is a game. It's kind of like the Buffalo Bills.
- 41:10Speaker 1: The Bills don't lose that game on Thursday night football.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Ole Miss can't lose this game. There's too much at
- 41:15Speaker 1: stake for their program. They have been zeroed in, dialed
- 41:18Speaker 1: in on this. Everybody's been lockstep. And Kiffin's been playing
- 41:22Speaker 1: mind games. Big games matter. And, I mean, does Lane
- 41:27Speaker 1: Kiffin win big ball games? I can't really point to
- 41:30Speaker 1: many of them. He leaves before the big games happen.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Give me Ole Miss, Moneyline.
- 41:35Speaker 2: I don't want to do the Homer thing and just
- 41:37Speaker 2: pick the home team.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Because we're here in Oxford.
- 41:40Speaker 2: But if not now, never. for Ole Miss.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Now is the time. You've got some continuity there. LSU's
- 41:48Speaker 3: a brand new team in a lot of ways. They're
- 41:51Speaker 3: coming to your place. If not now, never. And it's
- 41:55Speaker 3: going to be now. It will be tomorrow. Ole Miss
- 41:58Speaker 3: is going to beat LSU.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Walker Jones, go win it. Get one, man. This is
- 42:05Speaker 1: the hate game. It was the love game when it
- 42:08Speaker 1: came to the college football playoff. Now it's about taking
- 42:11Speaker 1: care of business against Lane Train. They don't even like
- 42:14Speaker 1: mentioning his name. I respect it, quite frankly.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Big thanks to Lee Harris and Funkies for having us out.
- 42:19Speaker 1: And Lutz.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Awesome time.
- 42:21Speaker 3: Jacob Lutz manning all the equipment, getting us here, getting
- 42:24Speaker 3: us up and running. Thank you to whoever watched tonight.
