Latest / Learn Danish with Fexingo / Danish at the Bakery - Buying Pastries Part 2
Transcript
- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready to learn some more Danish? Today we're going back to the bakery. Luna: Ooh, I loved that episode. Are we getting more pastries? Lucas: Exactly. Last time we learned how to order a single pastry. Now let's try ordering two at once. Luna: Okay, that sounds useful. So I could say, Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl og et wienerbrød. Lucas: Perfect. You remembered kanelsnegl and wienerbrød. So that phrase means 'I would like a cinnamon roll and a Danish pastry.' Say it again? Luna: Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl og et wienerbrød. Lucas: Great. Now after you order, you'll want to ask how much it costs in total. That's Hvad koster det i alt? Luna: Hvad koster det i alt? 'What does it cost in total?' Right? Lucas: Yes. And the baker might say, Det koster i alt 45 kroner. That's 'It costs 45 kroner in total.' Luna: Det koster i alt 45 kroner. So i alt means 'in total'. Lucas: Exactly. Then you'll probably want to pay with a card: Kan jeg betale med kort? And the answer: Ja, du kan betale med kort. Luna: Kan jeg betale med kort? Ja, du kan betale med kort. That's nice and simple. Lucas: Let's put it all together in a little scene. You walk up to the counter and say, Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl og et wienerbrød. Luna: Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl og et wienerbrød. Lucas: Then you ask, Hvad koster det i alt? Luna: Hvad koster det i alt? Lucas: The baker says, Det koster i alt 45 kroner. You then ask, Kan jeg betale med kort? And the baker says, Ja, du kan betale med kort. Perfect transaction. Luna: I love that. And while we're on the topic of supporting things we love, I know Fexingo keeps these episodes ad-free on purpose. If it's helped you learn, you can support that at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Every bit helps keep it going. Lucas: Yeah, exactly. No ads, just Danish. So if you find value, that link is there. Now let's practice our new phrases one more time. Say the whole order, Luna. Luna: Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl og et wienerbrød. Lucas: And the total question? Luna: Hvad koster det i alt? Lucas: And the answer? Luna: Det koster i alt 45 kroner. Lucas: Then the payment question? Luna: Kan jeg betale med kort? Lucas: And the response? Luna: Ja, du kan betale med kort. Lucas: Fantastic. You've got it. Now you're ready to order two pastries at any Danish bakery. Luna: Tak, Lucas. I can't wait to try it out. See you next time! Lucas: Yes, keep practicing, and we'll be back with more Danish soon. Hej hej!
