- 1:04Speaker 2: like a week and a half ago as well, But
- 1:06Speaker 2: it also feels like a new year. Isn't that weird?
- 1:08Speaker 2: How that worked? Two weeks? Time's crazy? Times weird man
- 1:11Speaker 2: time me whimy ty? How are you? Oh? I'm so
- 1:17Speaker 2: good from hung out?
- 1:26Speaker 3: No, dude, you know this is going to be the
- 1:29Speaker 3: first year probably that we let the kids, uh actually
- 1:33Speaker 3: stay up for the fall.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I didn't think about that fun dude before.
- 1:37Speaker 3: It was like, let's get England's New Year. You know,
- 1:41Speaker 3: we'd watch that on YouTube.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Like Netflix, start doing like they had a countdown so
- 1:47Speaker 2: people could like trick exactly. Yes, maybe not trick, just
- 1:51Speaker 2: initiate early.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it would be like eight thirty and be like.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Let's go on still the sun's still out? Not no,
- 2:01Speaker 2: damn it up, countdown and go to bit. Yeah.
- 2:07Speaker 3: So I think I think we'll actually do that, but
- 2:08Speaker 3: we're not doing anything like you know, super crazy or anything.
- 2:12Speaker 2: What are you doing? I don't have any plans at all,
- 2:15Speaker 2: so I don't know. Maybe I'll get invited to my
- 2:17Speaker 2: friend's house.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I don't know who knows, who knows what.
- 2:21Speaker 2: The most passive aggressive.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Maybe one of my dear friends would ask me to
- 2:27Speaker 3: come over with I mean, I would love.
- 2:29Speaker 2: To come over, but no pressure. I didn't mean it
- 2:32Speaker 2: that way.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah, once we get things figured out.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't have plans, though I'm excited. Yeah, that's
- 2:39Speaker 2: a workday like before it. So it's kind of weird.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Sure that's a weird one. It's not that weird, but
- 2:44Speaker 2: it's just like, oh, I just haven't even kind of
- 2:45Speaker 2: thought about it. It'll sneak up on me, but yeah,
- 2:48Speaker 2: it sure will. It should be fine. Yeah, it'll be.
- 2:52Speaker 2: What are you looking forward to in twenty twenty six
- 2:54Speaker 2: watching more movies? Yeah, me too. You want to watch
- 2:57Speaker 2: so many movies? One twenty five was a hell of
- 2:59Speaker 2: a year.
- 3:00Speaker 3: It really was. It really was. Watched a lot of movies.
- 3:03Speaker 3: I watched about one hundred and fifty. I know you
- 3:06Speaker 3: you beat me on there.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I did. And when I was going through my list,
- 3:10Speaker 2: I saw there was a couple of times I was like,
- 3:12Speaker 2: I watched all the Harry Potter movies again, but only
- 3:15Speaker 2: put more line. So it's more than I thought, too, sure,
- 3:19Speaker 2: which is funny.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I feel like I got about twenty of those one
- 3:24Speaker 3: hundred and fifty just in the last few days, just
- 3:26Speaker 3: to try to go on hard do this episode, you know,
- 3:30Speaker 3: and you really.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Schooled me though. In the we talk about our shows. Yeah,
- 3:35Speaker 2: and you will always have more of those, and that's
- 3:37Speaker 2: always like after Rob, why is that after? What is

- 4:15Speaker 2: hang out. It'd be really fun. It's a good time. Sorry,
- 4:19Speaker 2: I kind of threw that at you there, but you nope,
- 4:21Speaker 2: I was interviewd it out of the part. I love it.
- 4:26Speaker 2: So yeah, let's do our best of twenty twenty five.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Are you excited? I'm so excited. I always get nervous.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I don't know why, but I get nervous about these.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Hey man, I don't know. We just we see so
- 4:37Speaker 2: many things. This is those are our favorite. So, like,
- 4:40Speaker 2: you know, if you don't agree, that's cool, but let's
- 4:42Speaker 2: all just be yes.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I think that's a good thing to start off with
- 4:46Speaker 3: because I have a clear list of like I think
- 4:50Speaker 3: these are the best movies, so those will be in
- 4:54Speaker 3: honorable mentions. Yeah that's not but like I picked my favorite.
- 4:59Speaker 3: I love so some of these. You know, a lot
- 5:01Speaker 3: of these aren't going to be up for Academy Awards,
- 5:03Speaker 3: some of them will be.
- 5:04Speaker 2: But you know, it's what I liked the yea, yeah, yep, yep.
- 5:11Speaker 2: And it's hard when you do the same thing. But yeah,
- 5:14Speaker 2: this is actually that's a good thing to say too.
- 5:16Speaker 2: This is what I liked the best as of right now,
- 5:19Speaker 2: and it maybe is right tomorrow and yesterday.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, I know I was having a really hard
- 5:24Speaker 3: time narring at to ten. My honorable mentions is lengthy,
- 5:28Speaker 3: and I do have like more of a an Academy
- 5:31Speaker 3: Awards list and just.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Like a fun that's you know what I mean, that's smart.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I like that. Yeah, but yeah it'll be fun and
- 5:37Speaker 2: as always, right, like like you said, you watched so
- 5:40Speaker 2: many in the last little bit, you know, it's it's
- 5:43Speaker 2: sometimes hard to see all. I definitely didn't see all
- 5:45Speaker 2: the ones from released this year that I wanted to see,
- 5:48Speaker 2: so for sure, I know this is part of the game.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So it's ones we've seen and we'll talk about the rest.
- 5:54Speaker 2: But yeah, do you want to start pal? You want
- 5:56Speaker 2: to you want to give your number one?
- 5:59Speaker 3: I can give my number one movie twenty twenty five.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I wasn't expecting it to be my number one, but
- 6:06Speaker 3: it is one battle after another. Was my favorite movie
- 6:10Speaker 3: of twenty twenty five.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Love that pick. That's a great pick. Dude, would love
- 6:15Speaker 2: to see that again. I really like Yeah, I'm with you,
- 6:18Speaker 2: but it didn't help me by number one. Tell us
- 6:22Speaker 2: about it? What did you love?
- 6:24Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 6:24Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 6:24Speaker 3: So the plot synopsis. Bob is a washed up revolutionary
- 6:27Speaker 3: who lives in a state of stoned paranoia, surviving off
- 6:30Speaker 3: grid with his spirited and self reliant daughter Willa. When
- 6:33Speaker 3: his evil nemesis resurfaces and Willa goes missing, the former
- 6:37Speaker 3: radical scrambles to find her as both father and daughter
- 6:41Speaker 3: battle the consequences of their pasto. This was written and
- 6:46Speaker 3: directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Stars Leo Sean Penn, Benicio
- 6:52Speaker 3: del Toro, and a whole bunch of other folks.
- 6:54Speaker 2: So good.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Favorite movie of the year. At first, I was hesitant
- 6:58Speaker 3: to see this in the theater because I'm pretty hit
- 7:02Speaker 3: or missed with Paul Thomas Anderson. Yeah, I get that,
- 7:05Speaker 3: And I heard that it was almost three hours long,
- 7:07Speaker 3: and so I saw it at the very end of.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Its theatrical run.
- 7:12Speaker 3: I'm so glad I watched it in the theater.
- 7:14Speaker 2: That's fun.
- 7:15Speaker 3: I would have never guessed that it was two hours
- 7:18Speaker 3: and forty minutes. I was into it the entire time.
- 7:23Speaker 3: The cinematography was a huge part of the movie. The
- 7:26Speaker 3: performance was were so much fun, especially from Sean Penn
- 7:30Speaker 3: and Beniso del Toro. It is my favorite Paul Thomas
- 7:35Speaker 3: Anderson film. It felt more like me thriller. Yeah, yeah, agreed,
- 7:41Speaker 3: So many of his are way out there and you know, like,
- 7:46Speaker 3: There Will Be Blood is probably considered one of like
- 7:49Speaker 3: the top five movies in the last twenty five years. Yeah,
- 7:52Speaker 3: but that is a movie I'm never gonna watch again
- 7:54Speaker 3: because it's just me and we so yuh.
- 7:56Speaker 2: At the top, right, Like there's a difference between best
- 7:59Speaker 2: movie and our favorite, you know, right, So yeah, totally so.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Like and I can appreciate the filmmaking, the performances and
- 8:06Speaker 3: all that if There Will Be Blood, But this is
- 8:09Speaker 3: a movie where I feel like I could watch it
- 8:11Speaker 3: a bunch more because I had so much fun with it.
- 8:13Speaker 2: It was more of a thriller.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and I loved all the humor around it, so
- 8:20Speaker 3: really out there characters.
- 8:21Speaker 2: I was just a very big fan. Nice love that
- 8:24Speaker 2: love that. Yeah. Not my number one, but did make
- 8:27Speaker 2: the list for top ten, Well tell me Number one.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Number one for Me is a film that was written
- 8:34Speaker 2: and directed by a young man named Ryan Kugler. I
- 8:38Speaker 2: have Sinners Sinners as my number one, Yeah, I dude.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Which felt kind of fun because it was I think
- 8:45Speaker 2: it came out in July or something like it was
- 8:48Speaker 2: anyway the year it was a summer movie, or for
- 8:51Speaker 2: sure you really interesting. I guess I could do the
- 8:54Speaker 2: synopsis thing. I didn't even think of that. Trying to
- 8:58Speaker 2: their trumpet lives behind, twin brothers returned to their hometown
- 9:01Speaker 2: to start again, only to discover that the ever greater
- 9:04Speaker 2: evil is awaiting them on their return. And those twin
- 9:10Speaker 2: brothers are both played by Michael B. Jordan. I just
- 9:14Speaker 2: thought this movie was so inventive, Like I didn't, I
- 9:18Speaker 2: didn't know anything about it really going in other than
- 9:21Speaker 2: the one trailer I saw. It went away that I
- 9:24Speaker 2: wasn't expecting at all, saying in a great way, in
- 9:28Speaker 2: a very fun and wild way, great actors in it,
- 9:32Speaker 2: super interesting story and you know we're well you for sure.
- 9:38Speaker 2: But also music plays a big part of both of
- 9:40Speaker 2: our lives, and music is so intertwined with this story
- 9:43Speaker 2: in such an interesting way. I really really had a
- 9:46Speaker 2: great time. I loved this movie a lot, and doing
- 9:49Speaker 2: this list made be like I should rewatch that, but
- 9:52Speaker 2: it was funny, like yeah, it's at least I don't
- 9:55Speaker 2: know how you do it, but I kind of like
- 9:57Speaker 2: made the list, went through it again and then was
- 10:00Speaker 2: kind of just like, all right, if I see this
- 10:03Speaker 2: and this, what am I going to be most pumped
- 10:05Speaker 2: up about? And Sinners just kept being like, yeah, man,
- 10:07Speaker 2: I don't know. That movie was cool and it has
- 10:11Speaker 2: one of the trippiest like, uh, what do you like
- 10:15Speaker 2: a montage almost seen thing that I don't want to
- 10:18Speaker 2: spoil it anything, but it's wild. That scene contained a
- 10:22Speaker 2: lot of music, and yeah, it was cool. Yes, that
- 10:24Speaker 2: was cool. But I really loved it. I thought it
- 10:27Speaker 2: was very original. I hope it win some awards well.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And it took a it took.
- 10:33Speaker 3: This genre this kind of yeah, I don't even want
- 10:37Speaker 3: to spoil it if you haven't seen it. It took
- 10:39Speaker 3: the genre that's been done a.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Lot, but made it so originally I know, it was
- 10:43Speaker 2: just so fun. I don't know it really it really
- 10:46Speaker 2: turned me on. I really liked that movie a lot,
- 10:48Speaker 2: so I've been with you, dude. Sinors is my number one.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I get it. That also made my top ten.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Oh so I'm with you, I love it. I feel
- 10:57Speaker 3: the same way. I'm to go for my number two
- 11:01Speaker 3: hit me and I had said quite a few times
- 11:05Speaker 3: that this was my favorite film of the year until
- 11:07Speaker 3: I saw one battle after another, and it is the
- 11:12Speaker 3: feel good The Ballad of Wallace Island.
- 11:15Speaker 2: This is also my number two. We are connected already.
- 11:21Speaker 3: The Ballot of Wallace Islands old tensions resurface when former
- 11:25Speaker 3: bandmates who were former lovers reunite for a private show
- 11:29Speaker 3: at the island home of an eccentric millionaire. This was
- 11:33Speaker 3: directed by James Griffiths and it was written by Tom
- 11:37Speaker 3: Basden and Tim Key, starring Tom Basden and Tim Key,
- 11:43Speaker 3: crazy and also a lovely Carrie Mulligan. And it's pretty great, yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 3: supporting cast just overall. Yeah, I wasn't familiar with the
- 11:54Speaker 3: two leads before, and I'm now a very big fan.
- 11:59Speaker 3: I loved Tim Keyes's character. He was the eccentric millionaire
- 12:05Speaker 3: and he just wanted to see his favorite musicians back
- 12:08Speaker 3: together again. The humor, the heart, it was just it
- 12:13Speaker 3: was so nice. I fell in love with these characters.
- 12:16Speaker 3: I just thought it was a beautiful film and one
- 12:19Speaker 3: that I will definitely watch again.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Yep, I feel one hundred percent the same way. It's
- 12:25Speaker 2: just what a joy this film was. It also takes
- 12:28Speaker 2: you like on a path you don't expect. I feel
- 12:32Speaker 2: like at the beginning, like you know, it's just so
- 12:36Speaker 2: endearing how all these characters interact with each other and
- 12:40Speaker 2: not always nicely but really cool, and there's a lot
- 12:44Speaker 2: of growth and it's just beautiful. I really loved this film.
- 12:47Speaker 2: So I'm with you one hundred percent. If anyone is
- 12:51Speaker 2: like on the fence about it, go see it because
- 12:53Speaker 2: it's real good.
- 12:54Speaker 3: It's so wonderful. It's definitely on the Delta flights. I
- 12:57Speaker 3: think that might have been when I saw it for
- 13:00Speaker 3: so I don't remember.
- 13:01Speaker 2: But it's a prime video one too, so if you
- 13:05Speaker 2: have Prime Beautiful down there, but.
- 13:08Speaker 3: It is worth checking out. And you know what, I
- 13:10Speaker 3: feel like it's underappreciated.
- 13:12Speaker 2: It is not on like any.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Lists for top yeah twenty, I agree movies.
- 13:17Speaker 2: It is kind of an Indish film, I guess, I mean, small,
- 13:20Speaker 2: totally cast and all that stuff. But man, yeah, have
- 13:23Speaker 2: they written anything else that we know?
- 13:27Speaker 3: I don't think.
- 13:28Speaker 1: So.
- 13:28Speaker 3: I know that Tim Key is currently in that office
- 13:33Speaker 3: spin off the.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Paper, right, I haven't watched that.
- 13:38Speaker 3: I have not either, but I want to because of him.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Yeah, totally.
- 13:44Speaker 3: It says that Tom Baston has written other things. He
- 13:48Speaker 3: says he's written fifteen other things.
- 13:51Speaker 2: See, and I'm looking at tim a lot of TV, Yeah,
- 13:57Speaker 2: a lot of TV. You're right, okay, TV. I haven't
- 14:01Speaker 2: heard of many of these things though. Maybe they're like
- 14:03Speaker 2: being guys or something. I don't even know. I don't know.
- 14:07Speaker 3: And if you notice, his first thing was a short,
- 14:10Speaker 3: The One and Only IRB Maguire plays Wallace Island. So
- 14:13Speaker 3: it looks like it was kind of a passion project
- 14:15Speaker 3: that they probably yeah, got to make twenty years later.
- 14:21Speaker 2: That's so cool. That's pretty neat. Yeah, that's super awesome.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Well I will watch other stuff they do now for sure,
- 14:27Speaker 2: because I just thought this was so full of heart.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I really liked it.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Yes, dude, well my number three was your number one,
- 14:36Speaker 3: so sinners also loved it. Film and yeah, like you said,
- 14:42Speaker 3: I came into it totally blind, and that's just the
- 14:45Speaker 3: way to do it. I even saw trailers, and they
- 14:48Speaker 3: did a great job with the trailers because you don't
- 14:51Speaker 3: know exactly what's going on. And I love that because
- 14:56Speaker 3: so many of the times, like we've talked about for
- 14:58Speaker 3: Project til Mary just ruined the whole movie in the trailer.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Just mislead me or something.
- 15:04Speaker 3: I don't know, man, just give me just a loose
- 15:08Speaker 3: idea of who's in it and what it is kind
- 15:11Speaker 3: of about.
- 15:12Speaker 2: But don't I'll come. Yeah. But also, we're going to
- 15:16Speaker 2: see so many movies that they're not trying to talk
- 15:18Speaker 2: us into it, you know, So I always think of
- 15:20Speaker 2: that too, like, yeah, that's fair. Yeah, I love that.
- 15:24Speaker 3: And I had all those same takes you had. What
- 15:26Speaker 3: was your number three?
- 15:28Speaker 2: My number three is one we haven't talked about just yet. Uh,
- 15:32Speaker 2: this is a movie that scared the but Jesus out
- 15:35Speaker 2: of me. I picked weapons for my number three weapons? Lee,
- 15:43Speaker 2: Can I read this? I don't even know. Uh, yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 2: I guess you find this. Yeah, I guess you find
- 15:48Speaker 2: this out. Yeah. When all but one child from the
- 15:51Speaker 2: same class mysteriously vanished on the same night at exactly
- 15:55Speaker 2: the same time, a community is left questioning who or
- 15:59Speaker 2: what is behind their disappearance. Yeah, and you know that
- 16:03Speaker 2: from the trailer. True, I just got scared. I got scared.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I get it. This movie is It is a horror film.
- 16:10Speaker 2: I just want to warn people full on horror, very scary,
- 16:14Speaker 2: very upsetting, and gory at points. But man, I had
- 16:20Speaker 2: an electric time watching this, like it was so fun.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Is Julie or Julia now? Julia? Julia Garner is in it.
- 16:29Speaker 2: She's fantastic in it. She's really really great. Josh Brolin
- 16:35Speaker 2: is great. There's one person I don't want to say
- 16:38Speaker 2: because it's kind of a spoiler, but they're great. Benedict
- 16:42Speaker 2: Wong is amazing. It's not really a spoiler. I guess
- 16:45Speaker 2: it's not Amy Madigan. I believe is her name.
- 16:49Speaker 3: It absolutely is her name, and she's awesome.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I deeply hope she gets nominated for an Oscar for
- 16:54Speaker 2: this part because I think she should. I kind of
- 16:57Speaker 2: don't think she will, but I think she should. Yeah,
- 17:00Speaker 2: it's it.
- 17:01Speaker 3: It's a pretty small screen time role. Man so effective,
- 17:06Speaker 3: it's so wild.
- 17:06Speaker 2: But this story goes one hundred percent not where I
- 17:10Speaker 2: thought it was going. It is no, it's all the things.
- 17:13Speaker 2: It's really it's a fun watch, not like not like
- 17:16Speaker 2: an enjoyable watch all the time, but it is thrilling.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I guess it is maybe the right thing and really
- 17:23Speaker 2: funny in parts, maybe just because you need some release
- 17:26Speaker 2: valve of like, you know, the scary stuff. But man,
- 17:31Speaker 2: that movie was great. I really liked it a lot.
- 17:34Speaker 2: It was a lot, was a ton. I don't know
- 17:36Speaker 2: if I'll rewatch that one a lot, but I really
- 17:38Speaker 2: did love it. Yeah.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think I probably will ever unless somebody
- 17:43Speaker 3: was like, you know, I never saw that, Okay, yeah, yeah,
- 17:46Speaker 3: because it's crazy.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. So that was my.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Three for four number three, My number four, uh, straight
- 17:55Speaker 3: up comedy, big time comedy, The Naked Gun, Number four,
- 18:01Speaker 3: I have number four. This is one of the most
- 18:05Speaker 3: fun times I've had in a movie in a very,
- 18:07Speaker 3: very long time. Lieutenant Frank Dreben Junior becomes a police
- 18:12Speaker 3: officer like his legendary father and must save the police
- 18:15Speaker 3: department from shutting down by solving a case.
- 18:19Speaker 2: This was directed by A. Kiva Shaeffer, who.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Is part of the Lonely Island group YEP, and it
- 18:25Speaker 3: was written by Dan Gregor, Doug Man and A.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Kiva Shaefer.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Stars Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Hauser and Moore.
- 18:35Speaker 3: I love this comedy ever since we saw Liam Neeson
- 18:39Speaker 3: do that bit with Ricky Gervais that Life's too Short
- 18:43Speaker 3: where he wants to act out an improv scene and
- 18:46Speaker 3: just is so serious and shuts down any improv at all.
- 18:51Speaker 3: You like, you knew he had the comedy chops there,
- 18:56Speaker 3: and it honestly is pretty similar. Like he's being serious
- 19:01Speaker 3: and it's a lot like what Leslie Nielsen did. He's
- 19:04Speaker 3: he's playing it serious and it's just silly around it.
- 19:09Speaker 3: You know, he's not trying to be funny. It just
- 19:11Speaker 3: is funny. But so many hilarious bits in this that
- 19:16Speaker 3: had me laughing out loud, which is tough for me,
- 19:19Speaker 3: especially by myself.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Something brown. It made you loved it so much? Yes,
- 19:27Speaker 2: it made you beg for the break because brown. Yeah.
- 19:36Speaker 3: But yeah, I watched it more than once. Watched it
- 19:40Speaker 3: on the bus, got to watch with the longest John's
- 19:42Speaker 3: as well.
- 19:43Speaker 2: That was so much funner to watch that. It was amazing. Yeah.
- 19:49Speaker 3: I think I had mentioned this before, but I mean
- 19:51Speaker 3: one of the biggest laughs in the whole thing was
- 19:53Speaker 3: the ending credits.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Yes, and it has been.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Quoted so many times in Home Free, but I loved it.
- 20:01Speaker 3: I hope more silly comedies like this keep getting made
- 20:04Speaker 3: because there's some of my favorite movies to watch, and
- 20:07Speaker 3: we don't get to see them very much.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and we really don't get to see them in
- 20:10Speaker 2: theaters or with other people a lot. So yeah, really
- 20:14Speaker 2: fun love that.
- 20:15Speaker 3: But this is super high quality and so funny, and
- 20:18Speaker 3: I want more stuff like this.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Love it, yeah, love it. Well. My number four was
- 20:23Speaker 2: your number one. I think one Battle after One Battle
- 20:28Speaker 2: Yice and basically it had all the same takes. I
- 20:31Speaker 2: thought it was awesome. I thought specifically Benizio was like
- 20:35Speaker 2: just as much. He's so funny anyway, but man, he
- 20:39Speaker 2: was great.
- 20:40Speaker 3: He just comes in and crushes and then just.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Like the movie very I killed it, Give me a
- 20:46Speaker 2: call him next. Who else? You know, who else really
- 20:49Speaker 2: imprested me in that was Regina Hall. She was so good, dude. Yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 2: she like, I agree.
- 20:55Speaker 3: She's so funny and everything, but she was like she
- 20:58Speaker 3: had to like get the tears going. It's she was
- 21:00Speaker 3: a really good, really small role.
- 21:03Speaker 2: But again, just came in and crushed. I think that's
- 21:05Speaker 2: a good call, good call for Joe. But yeah, that
- 21:07Speaker 2: movie is great. Check it out, chick it out your five.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Then right, my number five, I went and picked a documentary.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Which I rarely do on these top tens, but I
- 21:21Speaker 3: picked the John Candy I like me.
- 21:24Speaker 2: I like that. I didn't know what to do with
- 21:26Speaker 2: that one. I have such a hard time with the
- 21:29Speaker 2: like docs as opposed to films, But I love that.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Good for you, dude. I love this.
- 21:35Speaker 3: So from director Colin Hanks and producer Ryan Reynolds, both
- 21:39Speaker 3: lifelong John Candy fans, comes John Candy, I Like Me.
- 21:43Speaker 3: An exploration of the life and legacy of the comedic icon.
- 21:46Speaker 3: The film showcases Candy's remarkable career from his breakout turn
- 21:52Speaker 3: and yeah, stars so many people, so many of his friends.
- 21:57Speaker 3: This doc hit me just like a ton of brick
- 22:00Speaker 3: one of my all time favorite actors who left much
- 22:03Speaker 3: too soon. I realized I didn't know a lot about
- 22:07Speaker 3: his life. Yeah, and this was not only super entertaining
- 22:11Speaker 3: but educational, and it made me boohoo so much, so much.
- 22:17Speaker 3: When we had Benny on the pod for The Great Outdoors,
- 22:19Speaker 3: he said that it felt like John Candy was a
- 22:21Speaker 3: part of the family and that's why his loss yeah
- 22:24Speaker 3: so hard and I it's really the perfect resona.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Yeah. I love that. Also, we're like his age now
- 22:33Speaker 2: when he you know what I mean, like, which is
- 22:34Speaker 2: kind of interesting. I can forget how I think he
- 22:37Speaker 2: might have been forty two or forty something like that, right,
- 22:40Speaker 2: but right now we're there, right, which is sad and
- 22:45Speaker 2: also pretty wild to think about.
- 22:47Speaker 3: But yeah, yeah, it was just so wonderful seeing his
- 22:51Speaker 3: friends and his family and his peers talk about him
- 22:55Speaker 3: and really almost nobody having.
- 22:57Speaker 2: A bad thing to say, seriously if they were too
- 23:01Speaker 2: hard on himself, you know, like that was the major
- 23:03Speaker 2: here right downside, I feel like, yeah, yeah, man.
- 23:08Speaker 3: And having Cynthia Rivo sing every time you go away, just.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Dude, and those two I can't I think the beginning
- 23:18Speaker 2: is a eulogy and the end is the eulogy or ish,
- 23:22Speaker 2: they're both so beautiful and so moving. I think it
- 23:24Speaker 2: was dan Aykroyd and then Catherine O'Hara. I believe Catherine
- 23:27Speaker 2: O'Hara definitely did. Yeah, it was gorgeous, perfect. But that's
- 23:33Speaker 2: a great pick, dude, great pick. Love it. I loved it.
- 23:37Speaker 2: My number five was a film that I'm apt to
- 23:41Speaker 2: pick because it's a Marvel film. I chose Thunderbolts. Here
- 23:46Speaker 2: Thunderbolts Underbolts after finding themselves ensnared in a death trap,
- 23:52Speaker 2: an unconventional team of anti heroes must go on a
- 23:55Speaker 2: dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest
- 23:58Speaker 2: corners of the best. It was all their past, not
- 24:03Speaker 2: a collective pass. I got you. I really love this movie.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I thought it was the first like fun Marvel movie
- 24:11Speaker 2: we'd had in a while. Yeah. I also just loved
- 24:16Speaker 2: the like the the sort of like the bad guy
- 24:21Speaker 2: was the bad guy, but also the bad guy was
- 24:24Speaker 2: kind of a thing we all deal with at various
- 24:26Speaker 2: points in our life, you know of just like our
- 24:28Speaker 2: own brains doing things to us. Super duper funny. This cast,
- 24:35Speaker 2: Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan Julia, Louis Dreyfus was so fun
- 24:40Speaker 2: in this was David Harber, Whyatt Russell. I've really liked
- 24:44Speaker 2: in this too. I've just had a really good time
- 24:47Speaker 2: with everybody in this movie. And I thought it was
- 24:49Speaker 2: just really bombastic and fun. They didn't try to like
- 24:56Speaker 2: I mean, they did connect it with other things, especially
- 24:59Speaker 2: the after trailer, you know scene, but in the bulk
- 25:04Speaker 2: of the film, it was it was more of a
- 25:06Speaker 2: Standaloney film than a lot of them have tried to
- 25:09Speaker 2: be lately, And I think that was good. Like it
- 25:11Speaker 2: really made me. It made me feel like we're getting somewhere.
- 25:14Speaker 2: So I really liked it a lot.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, I loved it too. It was the most
- 25:20Speaker 3: fun I'd had with a Marvel film in a while.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Yeah, right, Like that just was like, oh that was
- 25:25Speaker 2: just a good time. Cool. Yeah, yeah, I love that
- 25:28Speaker 2: did not make my top ten. You both of our
- 25:32Speaker 2: fives weren't on each other's list. That's fun, Shacker, Fine, well.
- 25:36Speaker 3: We're going to switch that up because my number six
- 25:39Speaker 3: was your number four was The Terrifying Weapons. I don't
- 25:45Speaker 3: know which number three was.
- 25:46Speaker 2: It was three three. Yeah, yeah, that's hot. I mean
- 25:52Speaker 2: for a couple of dudes that don't love a horror.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Horror movie, but most horror movies are not made this well,
- 25:59Speaker 3: not the original, and this was a dude's like he
- 26:04Speaker 3: wrote and directed, Zach Craiger.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Other stuff.
- 26:10Speaker 3: That's cool because yeah, this is not a genre that
- 26:14Speaker 3: I typically go for, but so many people were talking
- 26:17Speaker 3: about it that I gave it a shot and yeah, man,
- 26:22Speaker 3: that's awesome, all the same takes you had, the because
- 26:29Speaker 3: they didn't explain Amy Madigan's character that well, I think
- 26:32Speaker 3: it's kind of primed for a prequel.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we'll get that, especially it was so successful.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Why wouldn't they kind of you know, right, Yeah, I
- 26:41Speaker 2: agree with that, which I think could be kind of fun.
- 26:43Speaker 2: You even have sort of some Julia stuff in that prequel.
- 26:47Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know that they're connected, but yeah,
- 26:50Speaker 2: we don't know much about her backstory really other than
- 26:52Speaker 2: some mentions.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'd really like to know more about what
- 26:57Speaker 3: Amy Madigan's stuff was real.
- 27:00Speaker 2: It could be funny, nothing else, just to give her
- 27:02Speaker 2: more screen time in that role because she's so great
- 27:05Speaker 2: and wild. Yeah, dude, I love that pic. I love it. Yeah.
- 27:12Speaker 2: My number six is a film we haven't mentioned yet.
- 27:18Speaker 2: This was so fun. This is a yourcos Lantimo's film Bogonia.
- 27:23Speaker 2: I picked for number six. I don't know if you've
- 27:26Speaker 2: seen Bogonia. Did you get to see that one or no?
- 27:29Speaker 3: I saw it in the last in the last few
- 27:30Speaker 3: days and didn't love that. That was one that was
- 27:34Speaker 3: right on the cusp of like it's right there.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:38Speaker 3: If we would have made this the top fifteen, I
- 27:40Speaker 3: for sure would have.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Absolutely And this is absolutely one that's like is it
- 27:44Speaker 2: the most fun movie ever? Maybe not. It's really well
- 27:47Speaker 2: done and I really loved the humor like in it,
- 27:51Speaker 2: yes a lot. Jesse Plemons is amazing in it, Emma
- 27:55Speaker 2: Stone is amazing in it. That Jesse Plemons cousin. I
- 27:59Speaker 2: think Aiden Delbis is really good. Yeah, I don't know.
- 28:04Speaker 2: This film was just so fun. Again, maybe this is
- 28:07Speaker 2: a theme for me. It went kind of away I
- 28:09Speaker 2: wasn't expecting right away, totally really fun, really wild, and
- 28:14Speaker 2: also just very It speaks to a lot of things, right,
- 28:19Speaker 2: like conspiracy theory, stuff you know about our society, you know,
- 28:23Speaker 2: and like masculinity and stuff like that, but not in
- 28:27Speaker 2: like I hit you over the headway, just like well,
- 28:30Speaker 2: you can examine this if you want. Is kind of
- 28:32Speaker 2: the vibe I got from it. Yeah, I really loved
- 28:36Speaker 2: it a lot. I thought it was very fun. It
- 28:39Speaker 2: was and also just like what I can just remember
- 28:42Speaker 2: thinking a lot like what is happening right now? Which
- 28:45Speaker 2: is really wild.
- 28:46Speaker 3: It's out there, bro well like all of his.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Movies, Yes, his movies are all they're wild. I would
- 28:53Speaker 2: also suggest for that one, just don't if you think
- 28:55Speaker 2: you want to go see it, go see it, you know,
- 28:57Speaker 2: don't read anything about it, because I'll look into it. Yeah.
- 29:00Speaker 2: I feel like that's part of the fun is the
- 29:02Speaker 2: discovery for that one, But oh I didn't actually read
- 29:05Speaker 2: the thing, did I? For this one? Yeah? Yeah, read it.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Two conspiracy obsessed young men kidnap the high powered CEO
- 29:12Speaker 2: of a major company, convinced that she is an alien
- 29:15Speaker 2: intent on destroying planet Earth Earth.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I would agree pretty well.
- 29:23Speaker 2: But yeah, I loved that movie. Thought that was fun.
- 29:26Speaker 3: So I initially had it in my top ten and
- 29:29Speaker 3: then after like reconfiguring and you know, it was like, I.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Can't it just got off, But yeah, I was. I
- 29:37Speaker 2: was very close to have totally totally that.
- 29:40Speaker 3: It's a really out there, fun original movie as well.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Love it. I'm with you, nice.
- 29:46Speaker 3: My number seven is one we have not talked about yet,
- 29:50Speaker 3: and this is the written and directed by Noah bombback film,
- 29:55Speaker 3: J Kelly, Have you been able to.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Just watched that yesterday? And this is we very similar
- 30:00Speaker 2: to your last one. It was so close to making
- 30:02Speaker 2: the list and I just couldn't. And then sometimes if
- 30:05Speaker 2: you just saw it, you haven't like sat with it
- 30:07Speaker 2: long enough yet, you know, loved it though, it was
- 30:10Speaker 2: really fun? Ye nice?
- 30:13Speaker 3: So this is famous movie actor J Kelly embarks on
- 30:16Speaker 3: a journey of self discovery, confronting his past and present
- 30:19Speaker 3: with his devoted manager Ron Poignant and humor filled, pitched
- 30:23Speaker 3: at the intersection of regrets and glories. So, yeah, George
- 30:28Speaker 3: Clooney is the star. Big stretch for him, having to
- 30:30Speaker 3: play a movie star, tough, tough, Adam Sandler, you got
- 30:35Speaker 3: Patrick Wilson, you got quite a few people. Yeah, but
- 30:40Speaker 3: Noah Bomback pretty amazing writer. Thought he made a pretty
- 30:44Speaker 3: great film about like our priorities and how they can
- 30:48Speaker 3: get a little screwed up over time. It focuses on
- 30:53Speaker 3: the superstar and he's getting this like Lifetime Achievement award
- 30:58Speaker 3: and kind of having a midlife crisis, and it's just
- 31:01Speaker 3: it's just a lot. There's a lot going on there.
- 31:06Speaker 3: What's interesting about this is that there were two kind
- 31:09Speaker 3: of similar films. This and did you see the movie
- 31:13Speaker 3: Sentimental Value that's getting so much.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I didn't get to see that one yet. Similar.
- 31:18Speaker 3: It's kind of they're similar in the sense that it's
- 31:21Speaker 3: like a like a dad kind of thinking about his
- 31:26Speaker 3: career and how it affected his family. Interesting, but this
- 31:32Speaker 3: is way more fun and that one is way more heavy,
- 31:35Speaker 3: And I liked this one more than that one. However,
- 31:41Speaker 3: I think sentimental value is probably going to be up.
- 31:43Speaker 2: To more awards than this will be.
- 31:47Speaker 3: But yeah, so I thought it was really fun to
- 31:50Speaker 3: watch George Clooney and Adams Sailor play off each other.
- 31:54Speaker 3: And yeah, I would recommend it. There was wasn't he great?
- 31:59Speaker 2: I remember are you saying it was like your favorite
- 32:01Speaker 2: thing you've ever seen them do?
- 32:02Speaker 3: One of them?
- 32:03Speaker 2: Yeah, at least maybe. Yeah. Then I remembered on cut
- 32:08Speaker 2: Gems that he was just believable he was, Yeah, that's true. Yeah,
- 32:12Speaker 2: but he was very good in this. Yeah, and great
- 32:15Speaker 2: he was able to hold his own with George and
- 32:18Speaker 2: the scenery, like the places they go are just yeah
- 32:21Speaker 2: in Italy, incredible, incredible Inclab. So yeah, it's it's worth
- 32:27Speaker 2: checking out.
- 32:27Speaker 3: That was a Netflix movie too, so yeah fun, you know,
- 32:30Speaker 3: one of the better straight to Netflix movies.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Yeah that was so fun. I really I enjoyed that
- 32:35Speaker 2: a lot for sure. Cool tons of heart. This next
- 32:40Speaker 2: one is one you've already picked. I don't remember the number,
- 32:42Speaker 2: but it was the Naked Gun. I picked the number four. Yeah,
- 32:46Speaker 2: I had it SAPs. So we're in the same neighborhood. Yeah, yeah,
- 32:50Speaker 2: one hundred percent agree with everything you said maybe the most.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Did you see what the Boys? Yeah, and we saw
- 32:56Speaker 2: it in the theater, which was so fun. That would
- 32:58Speaker 2: have been so fun, and just like I think you
- 33:03Speaker 2: did too, But I loved those movies as a kid,
- 33:06Speaker 2: so like it was just a joy to kind of
- 33:09Speaker 2: go back and even flirt with that. And they didn't
- 33:11Speaker 2: wreck it, so that was, you know, an extra that's
- 33:14Speaker 2: always scary. Yeah, I thought Leam Neison would do a
- 33:16Speaker 2: good job. I was with you, but also was scared,
- 33:19Speaker 2: you know, but just it reverent and silly and you know,
- 33:24Speaker 2: a hundred jokes a minute and just just fun. I
- 33:28Speaker 2: don't know. I just had a great time with that.
- 33:29Speaker 2: I really loved it a lot. Supero, super super fun.
- 33:33Speaker 3: Nice You're eight my number eight, My number eight.
- 33:38Speaker 2: So this was one.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Where I was like, do I pick Pegoni or do
- 33:41Speaker 3: I pick this movie? Like this one I was a
- 33:45Speaker 3: little more impressed with. It's another written and directed and
- 33:48Speaker 3: starring film by Eva Victor. And this was a movie
- 33:53Speaker 3: called Sorry Baby.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Yeah, this is my next one. This is number nine.
- 33:58Speaker 3: It numero nine. Yeah, love it for people. Don't know
- 34:03Speaker 3: what it's about.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Something terrible happened to Agnes.
- 34:06Speaker 3: But life goes on for everyone else. When a friend
- 34:08Speaker 3: visits on the brink of an important milestone, Agnes realizes
- 34:11Speaker 3: how stuck she's been in this bittersweet story of finding
- 34:15Speaker 3: your way after your world comes crashing down. Eva Victor's
- 34:21Speaker 3: very first thing came out the gate swinging. Couldn't believe
- 34:25Speaker 3: that she was the star of it as well.
- 34:27Speaker 2: And just crush it.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Naomi Aki Lucas hedges a brief little cameo from John
- 34:36Speaker 3: Carroll Lynch, a friend of the pod.
- 34:38Speaker 2: So fun too, he was, so but yeah, this.
- 34:41Speaker 3: One came out of nowhere for me. Hadn't heard much
- 34:43Speaker 3: about it, so it was an A twenty four film.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Checked it out, So glad I did.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Takes a pretty serious subject matter, shows how horrible it is,
- 34:51Speaker 3: but also able to show how people can overcome some
- 34:55Speaker 3: terrible things and even find some humor in some dark times.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Just an amazing debut. Yeah, nothing, I was very impressed.
- 35:05Speaker 2: I think the thing I loved the most about it
- 35:07Speaker 2: was it really like it felt like it was exploring
- 35:12Speaker 2: something bad can happen in your life but doesn't have
- 35:15Speaker 2: to be the sole part of your existence. Find you know, Yeah, yeah,
- 35:21Speaker 2: in a really beautiful way. So I'm with you one
- 35:23Speaker 2: hundred percent. I loved this movie too. It was really
- 35:27Speaker 2: good and agreed that it just kind of came out
- 35:30Speaker 2: of nowhere for me, like I wasn't expecting it. Yeah,
- 35:33Speaker 2: pretty well, fun stuff. You know. My number eight is
- 35:40Speaker 2: a film we recently did a podcast on. This is
- 35:43Speaker 2: Wicked for Good. I picked Wicked for Good. I wouldn't
- 35:47Speaker 2: have expected it to be this high, but man, I
- 35:50Speaker 2: really I really enjoyed it, especially on the rewatch the
- 35:52Speaker 2: second time and getting to hear Sammy be you know,
- 35:55Speaker 2: geek out about it so much was probably how love
- 35:59Speaker 2: love that. But yeah, this is a well I'll read
- 36:02Speaker 2: the thing elf above the future Wicked Witch of the
- 36:05Speaker 2: West and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of
- 36:08Speaker 2: the North, the second of a two part feature film
- 36:11Speaker 2: adaptation of the Broadway musical That's all that's all says,
- 36:15Speaker 2: but really good. I think we said during the podcast
- 36:19Speaker 2: it's it is the more emotional act for sure, but man,
- 36:24Speaker 2: there's some great songs in it, some great acting. It's
- 36:28Speaker 2: just beautiful, and just the the size and scope of
- 36:32Speaker 2: what they took on of like creating you know, munchkin
- 36:36Speaker 2: Land and Oz and all these things, and planting the
- 36:39Speaker 2: nine million tulips or whatever the hell it was. You know,
- 36:42Speaker 2: like all the things, like so much care and passion
- 36:45Speaker 2: went into this project that it's it's hard for me
- 36:47Speaker 2: to not enjoy it. And it was just really fun.
- 36:51Speaker 2: It was a fun experience. And then I'll say my
- 36:55Speaker 2: nine since I already spoiled it, but sorry up earlier,
- 37:00Speaker 2: but it was good, Rob with your nine.
- 37:06Speaker 3: My nine is one we haven't talked about. It was
- 37:09Speaker 3: a movie called Companion.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Oh, this was on the runners up for me. Well,
- 37:14Speaker 2: this movie was fun and creepy, so much fun. I
- 37:17Speaker 2: really liked it.
- 37:20Speaker 3: A weekend get away with friends at a remote cabin
- 37:22Speaker 3: turns into chaos after it's revealed that one of the
- 37:24Speaker 3: guests is not what they seem. Another written and directed
- 37:31Speaker 3: by one person, Drew Hancock's Fun. I didn't know, dude,
- 37:35Speaker 3: most of these that I've picked were like written and
- 37:38Speaker 3: directed a lot of fun.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Summer or your singer Songwriter era or something. Yeah, it
- 37:43Speaker 2: really is. This starred Sophie Thatcher.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Who I wasn't familiar with, but she was great, Jack Quaid,
- 37:52Speaker 3: Harvey Gean, who we loved from What We Do in
- 37:55Speaker 3: the Shadows so much. But yeah, this is probably not
- 37:59Speaker 3: on a lot of Liket of films lists, But I
- 38:02Speaker 3: found this just to be so much fun.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Like you said, I had never seen anything like it.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Pretty dark but funny, funny, kind of a psychological thriller,
- 38:12Speaker 3: kind of had some like West World vibes around it totally.
- 38:16Speaker 3: But dude, I found it to be extremely entertaining, and
- 38:19Speaker 3: it was fun seeing Jack Quaid play kind of a disbag.
- 38:23Speaker 3: We're so used to him being this like squeaky clean,
- 38:27Speaker 3: good dude. It was great to see him play something different.
- 38:30Speaker 3: This one, yeah, came in under the radar and just
- 38:34Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 38:35Speaker 2: I loved it. Something. I'm with you for folks who
- 38:37Speaker 2: watch a Yellow Jacket Sophie thatchers from that. If you're
- 38:41Speaker 2: into that show nice, it's fun. Yellow Jackets is worth
- 38:46Speaker 2: checking out. It's not amazing.
- 38:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it's on something that I can watch. Originally it
- 38:51Speaker 3: was Showtime and yeah, something.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Something like that. I guess I don't remember it. Yeah,
- 38:56Speaker 2: I love that you picked this. Like I said, it
- 38:58Speaker 2: made my honorable mention. It's so fun. It's just really great,
- 39:01Speaker 2: really really good. That's yeah. Check it out, guys, if
- 39:05Speaker 2: you're intrigued. It's very fun. Why don't you do your tents,
- 39:08Speaker 2: and you did yourn I will I picked this was
- 39:14Speaker 2: It's funny how ten becomes like the hardest one because
- 39:16Speaker 2: you're so not including other things. But we had such
- 39:21Speaker 2: a good time doing a podcast on this one, and
- 39:26Speaker 2: I just thought it was a breath of fresh air
- 39:28Speaker 2: in a lot of ways. I picked Superman here, Superman.
- 39:32Speaker 2: I really liked it. It. That podcast was so fun
- 39:35Speaker 2: and so long. It was so fun long, that's what
- 39:39Speaker 2: I remember.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Well we had Benny on there and he
- 39:42Speaker 3: gets he gets, which is.
- 39:44Speaker 2: The best in the whole world. But this is oh
- 39:47Speaker 2: I should read the thing. Well, this one hasn't I
- 39:50Speaker 2: have to click something and expand it. Oh god, Superman
- 39:54Speaker 2: must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing
- 39:58Speaker 2: as Reporter Clark. I can't. As the embodiment of truth,
- 40:03Speaker 2: justice and the human way, he soon finds himself in
- 40:05Speaker 2: a world that views these as old fashioned. Yeah. I
- 40:13Speaker 2: just thought this was so good. So this is a
- 40:15Speaker 2: James Gun vehicle. He directed it and helped write it.
- 40:18Speaker 2: It looks like as well, along with the Jerry Siegel
- 40:22Speaker 2: and Joe Schuster. It just was a it felt like
- 40:26Speaker 2: a you know, this is the new DCU, you know,
- 40:30Speaker 2: expanded universe that he's sort of like taking the helm
- 40:34Speaker 2: of David corn. Sweat is who plays Superman, and he
- 40:38Speaker 2: is very handsome and very good, very funny, like I
- 40:43Speaker 2: didn't know him from anything else really before that. I
- 40:47Speaker 2: really liked him a lot. Rachel Brosnahan is Lois Lane
- 40:50Speaker 2: and she was great. I felt like they had really
- 40:53Speaker 2: good chemistry back and forth with one another. And then
- 40:56Speaker 2: Nicholas Holt was Lex Luthor, who plays like sort of
- 40:59Speaker 2: the main guy, and he also was awesome. He's good
- 41:03Speaker 2: and everything. This is kind of it has all the
- 41:06Speaker 2: things we've come to expect from James Gunn. It's you know,
- 41:08Speaker 2: a reverend, It's he loves comic books. So there's like
- 41:12Speaker 2: a lot of deep, deep references. I thought they made
- 41:17Speaker 2: it like a serious story while also keeping the fun
- 41:20Speaker 2: elements of things. Nathan Fillian was in it, and he
- 41:24Speaker 2: was so fun in it for it until just now,
- 41:27Speaker 2: but it's just it's just really fun. And James Gunn
- 41:33Speaker 2: just uses his music and colors and you know everything,
- 41:36Speaker 2: like all everything in his bag is a movie director,
- 41:39Speaker 2: so well. I really had a great time with it.
- 41:41Speaker 2: So at the end of the day, I was just like,
- 41:43Speaker 2: all right, I'm gonna pick this one. It was super fun.
- 41:46Speaker 3: It was fun, and I loved some of the stuff
- 41:48Speaker 3: that he did, Like we didn't get a like an
- 41:50Speaker 3: origin story. I love he did it too, you know
- 41:54Speaker 3: I said that at the time, I think, but just yeah,
- 41:57Speaker 3: he did some really fun things and stuff that you're that.
- 42:01Speaker 3: One thing in particular that I loved was that he
- 42:04Speaker 3: kind of explained like why she didn't recognize him at first,
- 42:09Speaker 3: Like he had a thing that it's not just that.
- 42:12Speaker 2: He's wearing sunglasses. Agreed, you know what I mean.
- 42:14Speaker 3: I always because I always thought that was so like
- 42:17Speaker 3: just gave us.
- 42:17Speaker 2: A little extra to be like, Okay, I can accept
- 42:19Speaker 2: that and move on. Yeah, it's like, oh, this guy's
- 42:23Speaker 2: still six' four and, beautiful, Right i'm sorry he has glasses.
- 42:27Speaker 3: On, Yeah SO i enjoyed. THAT i liked the little. Spins,
- 42:32Speaker 3: yeah really fun for the most. Part, yeah And i'm
- 42:35Speaker 3: excited to see a bunch.
- 42:36Speaker 2: More stuff from that. Universe hopefully it all stays fresh and. Delightful.
- 42:41Speaker 3: Delightful what's your ten ten couldn't be more different Than
- 42:46Speaker 3: your Ten? Fun another written and directed by a guy
- 42:50Speaker 3: Named Andrew. DeYoung but this was the dark comedy. Friendship
- 42:58Speaker 3: oh that's Ours Tim, Robinson Paul rudd And Kate.
- 43:03Speaker 2: MARAY i did watch, this by the, way. NICE i
- 43:06Speaker 2: don't know IF i. Know, yeah, FUNNY i MEAN i get,
- 43:11Speaker 2: it but.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Yep so for people that don't. Know Craig, waterman a reclusive,
- 43:16Speaker 3: man meets his new Neighbor Austin carmichael informs an unexpected
- 43:21Speaker 3: friendship with. Him as their friendship, grows so Does craig's
- 43:24Speaker 3: obsession With. Austin another film that's probably not on a
- 43:29Speaker 3: lot of best of, lists BUT i thought it was
- 43:32Speaker 3: so much. Fun Tim robinson isn't for. Everyone totally get,
- 43:36Speaker 3: that but he's able to make a situation so uncomfortable
- 43:40Speaker 3: and so.
- 43:41Speaker 2: CRAZY i find it so.
- 43:44Speaker 3: Impressive and he can just live in, it you, know
- 43:48Speaker 3: just like draw it.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Out that's WHERE i don't like. It it's so MUCH
- 43:55Speaker 2: i find it so funny. Sometimes Paul rudd was the perfect.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Casting choice to be the guy That Tim robinson's character
- 44:04Speaker 3: becomes obsessed.
- 44:05Speaker 2: With we all would become obsessed With Paul.
- 44:07Speaker 3: Rudd this was another fun bus, watch DON'T i don't
- 44:13Speaker 3: know that this one would have been as high on my.
- 44:14Speaker 3: List had my bandmates not loved it so, much they
- 44:19Speaker 3: definitely helped me realize how hilarious some.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Of the scenes. Were and it's another one that we
- 44:23Speaker 2: keep bringing. Up dude when he when he goes in
- 44:27Speaker 2: and is trying to get drugs off that kid and
- 44:30Speaker 2: he gives him the. Frog that bit is so the whole,
- 44:38Speaker 2: thing and then he just has a dream about getting
- 44:41Speaker 2: a sandwich and it's the funniest like. That it's gone
- 44:45Speaker 2: for about two. Minutes oh, god it was really it
- 44:49Speaker 2: was so. Funny don't pop. It don't pop. It it
- 44:53Speaker 2: looks like you're gonna Put don't do. That don't, please
- 44:56Speaker 2: don't do. That oh my. God watching that with people
- 45:00Speaker 2: would have. Helped, yes you AND i are so similar
- 45:04Speaker 2: in so many. WAYS i, yeah this was on my
- 45:07Speaker 2: honorable mention for at least least favorite of the. Year
- 45:10Speaker 2: LIKE i JUST i watched it by, myself LIKE i,
- 45:13Speaker 2: said it would be, tough you, know or whatever it,
- 45:17Speaker 2: is AND i was just, LIKE i don't, know you
- 45:20Speaker 2: got to be in the right, mood, Dude like for.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Sure and we've talked about this a lot with his,
- 45:25Speaker 3: Stuff Big Swing Big if you're into, it, man if
- 45:29Speaker 3: you're not into it, then because there's a lot of
- 45:32Speaker 3: his skits THAT i just don't find.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Funny BUT i love that he's out there making this
- 45:36Speaker 2: weird stuff because people love, it so, Like i'm cool with.
- 45:40Speaker 2: That but, man AND i didn't pick it for.
- 45:43Speaker 3: SURE i was shocked that he didn't write it because
- 45:46Speaker 3: it seems LIKE i think you should leave like drawn
- 45:50Speaker 3: out sketch like this guy must love that.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Shows so, yeah that's. FUN i love. IT i love it.
- 45:59Speaker 2: WELL i have roughly a thousand honorable, mentions so you
- 46:02Speaker 2: want to start with a few.

- 46:24Speaker 3: got to see it in the theater a few days.
- 46:26Speaker 3: Ago it is like a, masterpiece Like Chloe jao is.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Unbelievable it ripped my heart or so heavy for.
- 46:36Speaker 2: ME i don't know if heavy is the right, word
- 46:38Speaker 2: but a lot it absolutely. Heavy but it's the acting
- 46:41Speaker 2: performances are.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Nuts the filmmaking is, Incredible like it's gonna it's gonna
- 46:47Speaker 3: win some wards for.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Sure it's. Incredible can't wait to see. That it's gonna be.
- 46:50Speaker 3: Fun and in the same Vein Train. Dreams did you
- 46:54Speaker 3: watch that?
- 46:55Speaker 2: ONE i haven't seen that one yet.
- 46:56Speaker 3: Either now it's kind of similar in the sense that
- 47:01Speaker 3: it's beautifully. Made now this one Is Joel edgerton and
- 47:06Speaker 3: it's set in like the late eighteen, hundreds early nineteen
- 47:09Speaker 3: it's kind of turn of the. Century and it's such
- 47:14Speaker 3: an amazing performance by. Him he really internalizes all of
- 47:19Speaker 3: it and you can just feel. It but it's just
- 47:21Speaker 3: there are some scenes that just completely rip your heart.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Off SO i just have a hard time with get,
- 47:27Speaker 3: this BUT i can completely appreciate. It another one's sentimental.
- 47:32Speaker 3: VALUE i had brought it up, earlier stelling scars Guard.

- 48:30Speaker 3: are in this it's it is crazy and what he
- 48:35Speaker 3: does with Like Frankenstein's, monster and it is really fun to.

- 58:03Speaker 2: have had. That that's what is make remember that it
- 58:07Speaker 2: might have been ONE i. Saw, yeah, right it's from twenty.
- 58:10Speaker 2: FOUR i saw it this. YEAR i obviously didn't look hard.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Enough so that's a fun, one but go ABOUT i
- 58:18Speaker 2: recommend that as. Well TWINLESS i liked quite a. Lot
- 58:21Speaker 2: that was A i haven't seen a fun movie about
- 58:25Speaker 2: two dudes who have lost a twin and they meet
- 58:28Speaker 2: each other in like a support, group and it's really,
- 58:31Speaker 2: interesting a lot of fun dynamics with, them very like
- 58:35Speaker 2: a lot of lists kind of. Stuff it might even
- 58:38Speaker 2: BE i have no. Idea, yeah but that was. Fun

- 59:01Speaker 2: Good time Was, drop WHICH i liked quite a. Bit
- 59:04Speaker 2: that was fun. THOUGHT i thought it was just a
- 59:05Speaker 2: fun romp and kind of a differently a different way
- 59:10Speaker 2: of going about it than other Ones i've, seen which
- 59:12Speaker 2: is kind of. Fun great popcorn movie. Entertaining, yeah, absolutely
- 59:17Speaker 2: what else DID i have? Here? Uh bu? Bye AND
- 59:23Speaker 2: i like me down. THERE i think we said all
- 59:27Speaker 2: the ONES i had nice pretty.
- 59:30Speaker 3: Much, well then let's go to those are all the
- 59:32Speaker 3: films we liked a whole. Bunch let's go to our
- 59:35Speaker 3: least favorite film of twenty twenty.
- 59:38Speaker 2: Aary this was. HARD i didn't have like a hard
- 59:41Speaker 2: opinion on a lot of. Things, yeah but do you
- 59:44Speaker 2: want to go? First do you have like a firm?
- 59:46Speaker 3: STANCE i kind of had a tie my two least
- 59:50Speaker 3: favorite movies of the, Year.
- 59:53Speaker 2: Play.
- 59:53Speaker 3: DIRTY i was really excited for a New Shane black
- 59:57Speaker 3: film and was just completely disappointed about the.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: Execution was a.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: Bummer Mark wahlberg And Keith stanfield really fun on, paper
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: should have Been it's too, long, CONVOLUTED i haven't. SEEN
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: i didn't like it at, all and it felt like
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: the budget needed to be more for what he was
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: trying to do, too.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: SO i didn't like.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: That and another movie THAT i just did not care
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: for at all Was The legend Of.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: Ochi, OH i didn't see the legend of that weird
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: like you, know an to type thing on. It is
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: it that? One?
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yep it's a weird, animal like a mythical kind of.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: Creature Willem dafoe is in, it really out there, character
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: really pretty shots of like the, countryside BUT i just
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: didn't care about what was. Happening it kind of was, like,
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: uh it was going for like A How To Train
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: Your dragon kind of. Feel, oh but it was sadder and.
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: NOT i feel like. Cool you guys missed the. Mark
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: they definitely missed. It for, ME i didn't enjoy it at. All,
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: yeah THAT'S i feel like those movies are the ones
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: that bump me, up like it's one thing if it's
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: just like this script is, dumb but if it's like,
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: this JUST i just don't really care about it either, Way,
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: right are the hardest ONES i think for.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: Sure, Yep and it was an a twenty four, film
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: and those can be really good or just not.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: Sure that makes. Sense, yeah that makes. Sense big swings.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: AGAIN i was sort of stuck between a couple for
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: this one, too BUT i ended up picking a movie
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: THAT i saw THAT i forgot THAT i saw because
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: it was so.
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: Unremarkable, DUDE i looked at my list and it was,
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: like play. Dirty what was LIKE i? COULD i forgot
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: the name that it's.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: Bad didn't love this, right, right especially how much we
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: talk about, movies, Right that one for me was from
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: an ACTOR i Like Jason statham a working. Man i'm
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: a working working, man WHICH i think is how they
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: ran all of his movies at this, point just, like
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: what is the line he's gonna? Say, okay we'll go from.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: There it just was it just nothing happened like it
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: was you. Know he was, CHARISMATIC i, guess and they
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: had some fun fight. Scenes BUT i just did not
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: give it about that movie at. All, yeah just. Didn't,
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: YEAH i don't. Know and then one that intrigued me
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: but fell, short that was like my close runner up
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: was him the movie about the football. Player yeah you
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: didn't like. That, YEAH i haven't watched it because you
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: didn't like. It it was really, weird which is kind
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: of fun in its own, way and they did some
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: really cool cinematic, stuff you, know with like the cinematography and,
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: stuff but the, STORY i just, LIKE i don't think
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: it made a ton of sense AND i didn't really,
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: care so kind of a, BUMMER i. Feel did you
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: ever runners up for that? One OTHERWISE i Didn't, Okay,
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: NO i felt like kind of.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: The same way THAT i. H i really didn't see
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: too many, stinkers which was nice at.
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: Least ones THAT i actially was like, geez you know, right,
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: yeah Totally.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: LIKE i saw some movies that people would be, like,
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: oh like writing like that one That Kevin James Allen
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: richson ONE i.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: Think is what it's. Called, YEAH i found things THAT
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: i liked about, it but like as a, movie like
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: it's like Happy gilmore, Too it's like it's not, good
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: BUT i really had a fun. Time you. Know it's
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: usually where we can exactly like you AND i shared,
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: that we're, like yeah we can find yep OR i
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: wrote one down as an honorable mentioned brideheard did you
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: ever see this? Movie this is The Rebel wilson. Movie
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: so dumb but also, yeah pretty. Fun, okay you could
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: almost be like this is. Ridiculous watch, it you, know
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: like not hate watching, it just be like this. Scofi,
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: yeah that movie is, Intriguing but, yeah that's another hard
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: one for. Me the next, one we're gonna do best. Acting,
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: yeah did you have a tough?
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: TIME i had a really tough. Time why don't you start?
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Off? SURE i THINK i think other people maybe had meteor,
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Roles but for an actor that put on a really
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: interesting performance in a movie that took me completely by,
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: SURPRISE i think we both had. It as number, Two
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: i'm gonna Take Tim kaye From ballad Of Wallace island
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: here BECAUSE i thought he.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: Didn't even put him, down BUT i loved, It like
- 1:04:52Speaker 5: that performance was so good because he's so weird also still,
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: endearing but also like has room to grow while still being,
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: weird you, Know LIKE i just think IT'S i kept
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: coming back, to LIKE I i can't.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: Put My it's not like he has a crying zcene
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: you know that rips your, heart, right you, know but
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: his whole. Thing and THEN i guess knowing that they
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: wrote it to maybe helps right to be like they're
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: so in these. CHARACTERS i JUST i loved his. Performance
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: SO i Think i'm gonna take. HIM i THINK i
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: would pick him as my my like favorite like likable.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Character that the most likable.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: Character THAT i saw this, year by that BECAUSE i
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: didn't even think about that for, this BUT i. DID
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: i loved. Him so that's a really good. One SO
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: i kind OF i have a tie for like most
