- 0:003 lifelong friends, 6 trusty balls and endless NFL ticks.
- 0:05Welcome to three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:08Welcome to episode 51 of three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:11I'm your host Joel and I'm here with my two Co hosts Will and
- 0:14Avery. This week we're going to
- 0:15continue building our top 50 big board for the 2026 NFL draft by
- 0:19scouting players 13 through 18 on ESP NS top 50.
- 0:23But before we do that, I had a question that I wanted to ask
- 0:26you guys to get our show started.
- 0:28However, Will disrupted that plan and he said he needed two
- 0:31minutes at the start of the show to talk about something that he
- 0:34wanted to talk about. So I'm going to let Will go
- 0:36first. All right, two minutes.
- 0:37I hate this by the way, but go ahead. 2 minutes might be a bit
- 0:40much, but that's for a separate separate topic.
- 0:43So today is holy ceremonies for the Olympics and a huge shout
- 0:46out to Team USA Olympic hockey, both men and women's.
- 0:50Did you guys catch either of those games?
- 0:52I know you're not hockey fans, but I did not, man.
- 0:55I woke up at 5:00. AMI forget it already started.
- 0:58I didn't realize it was ending. Sheepers.
- 1:00Closing ceremony said I woke up at 5:00 AM Sunday morning today
- 1:04to catch that hockey game. Holy crap, both men and women
- 1:07beat Canada in overtime. 2 golds over Canada.
- 1:11I mean it's just so satisfying. Just a big shower to all the
- 1:14Olympic athletes. Team America won Team America
- 1:17World Police, that's for sure. S that's a separate thing to
- 1:20worry about that. So yeah, that was all just to
- 1:23charge the Team USA hockey. And if you have a chance to see
- 1:27some of the saves, Connor Hellerbuck as is the men's
- 1:31goalie and Aaron Frankel is the women's goalie.
- 1:33If you just catch some of the highlights from their games,
- 1:36they've Frankel went up two goals the entire Olympics, the
- 1:40entire tournament, only two goals.
- 1:42And then today had Carter Hellerbuck had 40 saves in just
- 1:46today's match. So just just throwing out there,
- 1:50I know it's not football, We are football podcast, but the hockey
- 1:52was hockey in today anyway. Three guys, 6 bucks.
- 1:56All right, well, let's get into the question that I had for you
- 1:58guys today, which is related to the NFL draft.
- 2:01So the question I wanted to ask is if you guys were an NFLGM,
- 2:05would you have a draft for need or a best player available draft
- 2:08strategy? Totally depends how bad is that
- 2:11need. It all also depends on where
- 2:14you're at with your team, if you're trying to rebuild or just
- 2:17find the the few missing pieces for your roster.
- 2:21I think in general, I like that the like maybe the top ten draft
- 2:26picks just pick the best, best available player because if
- 2:30you're the 10 worst teams, I just feel like at that point you
- 2:34just need talent regardless. But definitely towards the end
- 2:37of the first round, just those top teams, I feel like they
- 2:40should be looking for the best fit.
- 2:42I think it is pick back pick scenario.
- 2:44If you need a receiver and you're sitting at pick 20 and
- 2:47the top three receivers, 4 receivers already taken and the
- 2:50next one's not until like mid second, I'm not going to reach
- 2:53and take that next receiver. I'm just going to take best
- 2:56available or look to trade my pick.
- 2:58So I I think it is very pick dependence.
- 3:00Yeah, I think it is for the most part.
- 3:01But if I had to pick one, I would say I'm probably a best
- 3:04available type of guy. The reason why is because I've
- 3:06seen too many times where a team has had a certain need of the
- 3:09position and instead of drafting a player who is better, they
- 3:12reach for a guy who's not as good of a player but just fills
- 3:15the need and it ends up not working out.
- 3:17So like we look at quarterbacks, it happens with quarterbacks all
- 3:20the time, like JJ McCarthy, Anthony Richardson, Kenny
- 3:24Pickett. Teams will take a quarterback
- 3:26because they need a quarterback so bad that they'll just reach
- 3:29for one in the first round. When really what they should be
- 3:31doing is building the overall team and taking the best
- 3:34available player so that when they have the right quarterback,
- 3:37they already have the team in place.
- 3:38But instead they waste their pick on a lesser quarterback
- 3:41because they need a quarterback and then it just doesn't work
- 3:44out and it sets them back even more.
- 3:46So I am more of a best player available type of guy, but I do
- 3:51understand that it's kind of like a situation by situation
- 3:53type of thing as well. And as a as a fan, you want best
- 3:57player available every time unless they're an offensive
- 4:00line. Yes, you want best, flashiest
- 4:02player available as a fan. No one likes it.
- 4:05I mean, I'm sure there were some Patriots fans who are like, Oh
- 4:08yeah, Will Campbell #3 this fits our team great.
- 4:12But I'm sure there is a even larger amount that were what are
- 4:16we doing picking an offensive lineman?
- 4:18He doesn't, I mean, this is not what we want.
- 4:20And then he went on to have a wonderful.
- 4:21Season, except in the Super Bowl.
- 4:23Well, OK, one game, all right, he'll be fine.
- 4:27The most important game. Yeah, yeah.
- 4:30I think going off real quick, Will, the amount of times I've
- 4:35heard fans say, well, we just don't have a good line.
- 4:38Our line just sucks. We just don't have a good line.
- 4:41And then draft comes like we just got this guy I've never
- 4:45heard of. It's like, yeah, because
- 4:47offensive lineman aren't showing up on Sports Center, you know,
- 4:51So it's one of those things where, yeah, it's boring.
- 4:53You want something flashy, but the thing that you've been
- 4:55complaining about all year long, you know that's the guy you
- 4:59need. It's a really good point.
- 5:02It is 100%. You hear that all the time when
- 5:05their team sucks. Our offensive line is just so
- 5:07bad. Offensive line is just so bad.
- 5:09And then they get to the draft and then it's like why are we
- 5:11drafting an offensive lineman? This is so boring.
- 5:13I just waited the whole offseason for you guys to draft
- 5:16an offensive lineman in the first round.
- 5:19Yeah. All right, Well, let's get into
- 5:22our scouting for today. So, so far, we've scouted 12
- 5:25players. And on today's episode, we're
- 5:27going to scout players 13 through 18 on the ESPN Big
- 5:30Board. And then at the end of the
- 5:32episode, we'll add those players into our big board and rank them
- 5:35where we feel they should go. So just so you guys know who
- 5:38we're scouting today, those players are Washington wide
- 5:41receiver Denzel Boston, Oregon tight end Kenyan Civic, Miami
- 5:45edge Hakim Mesador, Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu,
- 5:49USCY wide receiver Makai Lemon, and LSU cornerback Mansour
- 5:54Dillane. So we'll get started with the
- 5:56number 13 player on ESPN's top 50, which is Washington wide
- 6:00receiver Denzel Boston. And I want to start this one by
- 6:04going over a player comp, but it's not my player comp.
- 6:07This is a player comp that comes from NFL.com and I wanted to see
- 6:10what you guys thought of this player comp.
- 6:13Sonfl.com lists Denzel Boston's player comp as Puka Nakua, so I
- 6:17wanted you guys to tell me if you agree or disagree with this
- 6:20player comparison and why. Man, I understand it.
- 6:23I guess I don't know if I agree with it.
- 6:25I hadn't really considered it, honestly.
- 6:27He's ready to do the work in the run, blocking.
- 6:29He doesn't drop the ball a lot. The thing I don't agree with is
- 6:33he's only had 650 yards after the catch in his entire career.
- 6:37He just doesn't have he doesn't have that after the balls in my
- 6:41hand play making ability that that you see from Puka.
- 6:45So I, I, I understand it on some aspects, but I don't and others.
- 6:50And then then against heavy competition against Oregon and
- 6:54Ohio State combined, he only had 51 yards in those two games.
- 6:58And that's again, is not what you're seeing out of out of a
- 7:00player like Puka. And also were talking about him
- 7:02straight into college, which if that's a player comp, I actually
- 7:06I probably don't know as much about him back then.
- 7:08If we're doing it for now, I don't see it for right now.
- 7:11Yeah, I think it's based off of, I mean, I would assume it's
- 7:14based off of when they came out of college, but if you look at
- 7:17Pukunukua's stats at BYU, they're actually not that good.
- 7:20I mean, they're like they're solid, but they're not like he's
- 7:23not getting like 1000 yards every year.
- 7:25So I don't know if BYU just didn't use them right or what.
- 7:29But when as soon as he stepped into the NFL, he's been awesome.
- 7:32So at first when I saw this, I was like, there's no way that
- 7:35this guy's poking Akua. But after watching his tape, I
- 7:38can see some similarities in their game.
- 7:40Like neither of them have elite speed, but they're both physical
- 7:43competitive receivers. They're both good at run
- 7:45blocking. So I can see how they're
- 7:47similar. I don't know if I would say that
- 7:50necessarily, that is the player comparison that I would give,
- 7:53but I could definitely see some similarities between him and
- 7:56Puka Nakua. It just it seems a little bit
- 7:59low effort like I mean, I guess Puka Nakua has been one of those
- 8:02guys that's been in the news more recently.
- 8:06I just just mainly like post season play, but I definitely
- 8:10think there's a lot better comparisons.
- 8:11I mean, Drake London I feel like would be a much better
- 8:15comparison, like size wise. I mean, so I it just seems a
- 8:20little weird to just go straight for puka Nikua especially.
- 8:23I mean their physicals aren't even the same.
- 8:26I don't even like I mean they're both receivers.
- 8:29So I guess there's that. They're both pretty good at what
- 8:33they do. They're both players who play
- 8:34football. Yeah, but it just, it doesn't
- 8:38seem like an accurate way to represent Boston receiver Denzel
- 8:43Washington. All right, well now we'll get
- 8:47into the actual scattering report part.
- 8:49So I think Denzel Boston is an elite red zone weapon because of
- 8:54his 64200 and 10 LB size. Over the last two seasons, he
- 8:57has 20 touchdowns, so quarterback can just throw it up
- 9:00to him and just let him use his size to make a play.
- 9:03He has an elite catch radius because of his size and he's
- 9:06very good at tracking the ball. So it makes things a lot easier
- 9:09on the quarterback because they don't have to throw a perfect
- 9:12pass. Obviously you want them to throw
- 9:14the perfect pass, but if they don't throw the perfect pass, he
- 9:17has the ability to still catch the ball because he has the size
- 9:20and the catch radius to do it. If you put the ball in his area,
- 9:23there's a good chance that he's going to come down with it.
- 9:26He reminds me of Mike Evans in this way, and I'm not saying
- 9:29that he is Mike Evans, but I just think that this specific
- 9:32skill that he has is similar to Mike Evans because you can just
- 9:35throw the ball up and just let him make a play.
- 9:38Also, I thought he had really good after the catch ability
- 9:40because he's not the fastest guy, he's not the shiftiest guy,
- 9:44but what I saw from him after the catch comes because of his
- 9:46size. I frequently saw him bouncing
- 9:49off tackles after the catch. I saw him dragging defenders for
- 9:52extra yards. I really like how he fights for
- 9:54extra yards before he goes down. And Washington often use him on
- 9:58screen passes where they would just get him the ball and just
- 10:00let him run through defenders. So I think he uses his size just
- 10:04overall very well. Whether it's catching a
- 10:06touchdown in the end zone, whether it's using his catch
- 10:08radius to catch a ball that's not thrown perfectly, or whether
- 10:12it's just after the catch breaking tackles and fighting
- 10:15for those extra yards. I think overall he uses his size
- 10:18very very well. He does feel a little bit like
- 10:20it's just somewhere in between, like he could play tight end if
- 10:23he wanted to, not as a blocking tight end, but he's got the just
- 10:26those physical traits, just that kind of hybrid look.
- 10:29I remember Oregon playing him. Just a very, very physical
- 10:33receiver, like Jill said and even on the scouting report,
- 10:35just pointing out that he's a great, great red zone threat.
- 10:40The ability to catch those contested balls, jump over to
- 10:42Fenders. Honestly looks like a very, very
- 10:45solid wide receiver. I think that as you mentioned
- 10:48here, physical blocker on the perimeter, I think he's great
- 10:50blocking and that's going to be huge because you see it from the
- 10:54top level guys right like like Puka Nukua, it's going back to
- 10:57him. That's what he did well this
- 10:59year. You saw it a lot on run plays.
- 11:01You see out there in front, you see Nukua setting the edge.
- 11:04They shift them in motion them in a lot get the crack on the
- 11:07linebacker and he's got the edge and they're running right off
- 11:09his butt. And so I, I think if, if teams
- 11:13are paying attention, they will utilize that as much as they
- 11:15can. The NFL is a copycat league.
- 11:17And so they're going to see something they like and they're
- 11:19going to copycat it with whoever they can.
- 11:22And so I think that actually helps to boost him up the draft
- 11:24board quite a bit. But getting off the line of
- 11:26scrimmage and getting up field more is is some pretty big areas
- 11:29of of improvement for him. I feel like that's kind of like
- 11:32the thing that every receiver that we've scouted so far has,
- 11:36like that's the thing they need to work on is getting off press
- 11:39coverage at the line of scrimmage against the physical
- 11:41coroner's. So far, I've noticed that with
- 11:43every single receiver that we've scouted.
- 11:45So it just seems to be a common theme there.
- 11:48I do want to bring this up and will you kind of mentioned it
- 11:50already, but something to note about Denzel Boston is how
- 11:53productive he was or how unproductive he was, I should
- 11:56say, when he went up against the better teams.
- 11:59So here's some notable games to use as examples for Denzel
- 12:02Boston. So three games from 2024.
- 12:04So against Indiana, he had four catches for 43 yards, 2 catches
- 12:08for 35 yards against against Penn State, and then he had
- 12:11three catches for 43 yards against Oregon.
- 12:13And then in 2025 he had three catches for 26 yards against
- 12:17Ohio State and then 4 catches for 25 yards against Oregon in
- 12:202025 as well. He did have two touchdowns in
- 12:22that game, but still only four catches for 25 yards.
- 12:25So that is something to note with him.
- 12:27Why do you guys think that is? Why do you think his production
- 12:29dips when he goes against those better teams?
- 12:32It could just be game plan where they're trying to do something
- 12:34different, but also could be that they're these better teams
- 12:38are focusing more on the better athletes and so they're doubling
- 12:41them. They're they're shifting over.
- 12:43They're they're taking away nothing.
- 12:45Every team start trying to do this.
- 12:46Just some teams are just better at it.
- 12:48They're taking away the primary receiver.
- 12:50You can beat me somewhere else. So I agree with Will completely.
- 12:54I think I mean, especially in college, you see game plans
- 12:58shift dramatically when you're facing really tough defense,
- 13:01especially when you're both really good teams and every
- 13:04other game you've been playing has been middle of the road.
- 13:07You have the resources to take some of these X Factor players
- 13:11off the board or at least limit them.
- 13:14I think that it's probably the case here as well.
- 13:16I mean, I know Oregon is, you know, every time they play some
- 13:19big game, they've got their really great wide receivers that
- 13:23rarely get touches. In fact, I felt like most of the
- 13:26time Jamari Johnson is their backup tight end who will also
- 13:30be in the draft next year, got a large majority of touches
- 13:32because he was just a relatively unknown threat because every
- 13:37other player is being, you know, carefully watched.
- 13:40But I mean, even Denzel Boston, I mean, even in that game with
- 13:43four catches, 25 yards, I mean, he's still got 2 touchdowns.
- 13:46So it's one of those things where it's, you know,
- 13:47situational strategy and him being a really good red zone
- 13:52threat. I mean, they utilized him
- 13:53properly. They just weren't, you know,
- 13:55looking for him every, every down.
- 13:57All right, well, let's move on to the number 14 player on the
- 14:00ESPN Top 50 big board. We are all Oregon fans, so I
- 14:03think we're all a big fan of Oregon Titan Kenyan Siddiq, but
- 14:07there is no bigger fan than Avery.
- 14:10So I'm going to have Avery start with Kenyan Siddiq.
- 14:13Kenyan Sadiq is a baller. Dude's a straight up athlete.
- 14:16Every time he's on the field, every time he touches the ball,
- 14:18I mean, something awesome usually happens, whether he's
- 14:23hurtling someone, you know, you think he might be tackled, and
- 14:27then it turns out none of his limbs touch the ground.
- 14:29He ends up spinning out, getting an extra 10 to 15 yards.
- 14:34Every time he touches it, something amazing is happening.
- 14:37I know that he is a man among boys for the most part against
- 14:40most college competition. He reminds me a lot of Evan
- 14:43Ingram, both size wise and then also his play style.
- 14:46One thing here, areas of improvement.
- 14:48This is where I kind of diverge a little bit with Joel, but to
- 14:52only to a degree. Just that catch focus on throws
- 14:55above his numbers. I have noticed that a lot of the
- 14:58throws from Dante Moore, his quarterback, seemed to go a
- 15:01little bit over his head, which is unfortunate because of all
- 15:05the receivers. I mean like the amount of times
- 15:08that those Oregon receivers had to slow down to catch a ball was
- 15:11ridiculous. And the fact that it only
- 15:13happened to Kenyon was a little bit ironic.
- 15:15But my thing isn't necessarily catching above the numbers.
- 15:18My thing is landing properly, like there was two times in like
- 15:24immediate memory that he jumps up.
- 15:27I mean, a great like diving catch, but vertical diving and
- 15:32then ends up landing and he's just so big that it's like, hey,
- 15:36that cannot have, you know, felt good.
- 15:38That couldn't have been good. You know, I'm worried about him
- 15:40breaking a hip even at age 21. So I would say for the most
- 15:45part, it's really just keeping himself healthy.
- 15:48This is not a direct comparison. But just as far as injuries go,
- 15:52a little bit of Derrick Rose is how I've always kind of seen
- 15:56him. Again, they're not the same type
- 15:57of player. They're they don't even play the
- 15:58same sport. They're not the same size.
- 16:01But Derrick Rose was a victim of his own athleticism where just
- 16:05constant, constant explosive jumping from both knees.
- 16:10It was only a matter of time before just caught up with him.
- 16:12It was just unfortunate that it happened earlier than than you
- 16:15would like. I really hope that Canyon City
- 16:18paces himself at least as far as the physically risky plays.
- 16:23Maybe get a little bit more like, and not to the same degree
- 16:25as, oh, shoot, Lockett, Tyler Lockett, where he's just, you
- 16:31know, protecting himself a little bit more.
- 16:34Of course, by doing that, you do negate some of the explosive
- 16:37amazing plays that he does have. So it's really kind of up to him
- 16:41and and how he feels like he wants to spend his NFL career.
- 16:45But this guy's a monster. Yeah, I think the first thing
- 16:48that comes to mind when you look at Kenyan Sadiq, just looking at
- 16:50him, is that he's an absolute freak athlete.
- 16:53He's 63245. He's got a 41 1/2 inch vertical.
- 16:56He can power clean 365 lbs, bench 435 lbs.
- 17:01He can run A4540. The dude is just an absolute
- 17:04freak athlete and he uses every bit of that athleticism as a
- 17:08blocker and that's really where he excels is as a blocker.
- 17:12Or you can use him as a blocker a lot because he's so good at
- 17:15it. He's just very physical and
- 17:16impactful as a blocker. The only thing with this
- 17:18blocking I would say is that his technique needs some refinement,
- 17:21but I think that can be easily fixed at the NFL level.
- 17:24He's more of just a a good blocker because he is such a
- 17:27good athlete that he just uses athleticism to overpower the
- 17:33defenders instead of actually with the proper technique.
- 17:36But I think that isn't a pretty easy fix for him at the NFL
- 17:39level. I've got some real mixed
- 17:41feelings here. If you just stop at the
- 17:44statistics, he's not a first round pick.
- 17:46I mean he's just not. It's just straight numbers.
- 17:50But when you watch the tape, I mean he sorry, going back he had
- 17:5340 receiving yards a game and eight total touchdowns.
- 17:56Now they were all receiving touchdowns, 8 touchdowns, great,
- 17:59but 40 yards a game? You're not talking about that at
- 18:02any position where well, maybe running back, but but not tie
- 18:06end or receiver as oh, 40 yards a game.
- 18:08That's a first round pick, that's for sure.
- 18:10First round. Guy, but that's because Oregon
- 18:12used him as a blocker so much because he's so good at it.
- 18:15Yep, that that's where it's going next is that the table of
- 18:17tape says something different. If you watch the film, it says
- 18:21something completely different. Great body control and
- 18:23explosiveness. He gets moved all over the
- 18:26formation. They use them in the run
- 18:27blocking so much. If you watch Oregon play,
- 18:30they're very much and have been for a long time.
- 18:33They run the spread at least I still believe they run the
- 18:35spread, but they run like a shorter spread to where it's all
- 18:38I swing past like screens. All are running out of the
- 18:41spread. They don't push the ball that
- 18:43deep that frequently. Someone's going to disagree with
- 18:46that I'm sure. Well if you look at each
- 18:47percentages doesn't matter. He's got strong semi
- 18:50inconsistent hands. But when he has a ball in his
- 18:52hands, it's staying in there. He's too fast to keep watching
- 18:55for linebackers came up with him and he's too strong for DBS to
- 18:58to affect him. And and so like I said, Joel the
- 19:02getting getting the right leverage on the blocking, he
- 19:05needs some work, but that's just technique work.
- 19:08And so my real issue with him is that what you're going to get
- 19:14day one out of the boxes, Canadian city is not going to be
- 19:17equivalent to the value of the pick that he's going to go at.
- 19:20And people are talking like pick nine of the chiefs, some people
- 19:23are talking mid 20s. I think that the value you're
- 19:26going to get from him is not going to be equivalent to the
- 19:29value of pick. Yeah, Avery, I'm curious if you
- 19:31agree with that Avery because you compared him to Evan Ingram.
- 19:33So like if you knew Avery that you were getting an Evan Ingram
- 19:36type of guy with, let's just say the Bucks have pick 15, so let's
- 19:40say pick 15, would you be excited about that?
- 19:43If you're getting Evan Ingram at pick 15, would you be excited
- 19:46about that? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I would.
- 19:49I feel like the ceiling's a little higher than Evan Ingram.
- 19:53To be fair, though, I do feel like tight ends are kind of like
- 19:58like you get like you get from your tight end how you want to
- 20:04use them. That's a horrible.
- 20:05I did not word that very well, but it's just one of those
- 20:08things where if. I mean, you look like with what
- 20:11Will said here, the stats like they don't, it doesn't tell the
- 20:13whole story. The other thing is you have
- 20:15another future NFL player, Jamari Johnson, that's also
- 20:20getting, I mean, if you look at his stats, it's probably like
- 20:2280% of what Kenyan got. So The thing is, is they're not
- 20:26necessarily, I mean, it's not like, I mean, if he played at
- 20:29some school where he is the only player getting drafted, like,
- 20:32yeah, he'd probably have twice as good as stats, you know,
- 20:35because they're going to a more often.
- 20:37And I do think that is valuable to see, especially when defenses
- 20:40know coming into a game this is their guy and we still can't
- 20:44stop him. So that's that is something else
- 20:46to look at. And that's usually how I'll
- 20:48decipher, you know, higher stats like that is like, OK, this was
- 20:52a known commodity coming into every game and he still got his
- 20:56numbers. The big thing to me is just is
- 20:58just the purely athleticism. I I just every time he touches
- 21:01the ball, it's a highlight play. And that's something that I feel
- 21:04like in the NFL right now. I mean, it's partially fan
- 21:08service, I guess, some exciting offensive players, but I mean,
- 21:12that's usually the difference between getting a first down and
- 21:14not getting a first down, you know, breaking a play wide open
- 21:17and that's that is what you get. So it'd be one thing if he was
- 21:20just a sure bet, you know, always catching the balls, you
- 21:23know, just just reliable. But he's more than reliable.
- 21:27So for that, I think at 15, absolutely I would, I would pick
- 21:31him. I mean I am biased too, but
- 21:34still, I'd pick him. OK.
- 21:35So follow up question for both of you guys, where would you put
- 21:38Kenyan Sadiq compared to Brock Bowers, Tyler Warren and Colson
- 21:43Loveland, because those were the three guys that were drafted in
- 21:46the first round the last two years.
- 21:48So where would you put Kenyan Sadiq compared to those three
- 21:51guys as a tight end? I'd put him in the in the same
- 21:53spot as Colson Loveland and Tyler Warren.
- 21:56Honestly, I feel like, again, I feel like that is something
- 21:59where it depends on your usage. You know, if you're a team
- 22:03that's not using your tight ends that well or just you've got
- 22:07better options than hey, maybe go with somebody else.
- 22:10But I, I mean, I remember watching both Tyler Warren at
- 22:13Penn State and Loveland at Michigan, and none of those guys
- 22:17did anything more than Canyon City does, not as far as just
- 22:21stats necessarily, but just as far as their physicals, their
- 22:24ability to catch, their ability to create space and break
- 22:27tackles. So, I mean, again, I'm not
- 22:31saying that he's necessarily going to have a better rookie
- 22:33year, one, because I don't know what team he's on.
- 22:36And then two, I don't know how they're going to use him.
- 22:39But it's, I mean, especially if they're using him to block a
- 22:41little bit more than, yeah, I mean, you're not going to see as
- 22:43many, you know, receptions in yards.
- 22:46I think you're the frame size only right because Tyler.
- 22:48Both Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland were 6, 465, right?
- 22:52Yeah, yeah. Loveland.
- 22:54Loveland's a skinny boy, though. And the one.
- 22:57He was a year ago. One thing I've consistently
- 22:59learned from Duke, watching scouting airports and doing all
- 23:02that kind of stuff is that boy howdy does one inch make a huge
- 23:06difference when it comes to scouting.
- 23:09And we'll talk about that later. We'll talk about that later with
- 23:11Makai Lemon for sure, because now I'm gonna have a molehill
- 23:15there to me. But but I do, I do think I put
- 23:18Sadiq under probably all three, four of them.
- 23:22You said Bowers, Bowers, Loveland and Warrens.
- 23:25Yeah, under all three of them. But again, it comes back to to
- 23:28usage on his team. To go back to what you were
- 23:31saying. Avery Jamari Johnson this year,
- 23:3332 receptions, 510 yards. Sadiq got 51 catches, 560 yards.
- 23:38So Sadiq was targeted more or had more touchdowns.
- 23:41Jamar Johnson had three, Sadiq had eight.
- 23:43He had to share too much time and that took away from him.
- 23:45Whereas I don't think Loveland or Warren or Bowers had to share
- 23:49same time. I mean, Bowers at Georgia,
- 23:51that's all anybody would ever talk about down there.
- 23:54So I put him under there, but it's probably just recently bias
- 23:57or I guess unbiased. I guess maybe I've better.
- 24:00I think that's fair. Will's take, honestly, I, I do
- 24:03think that's fair. I, I don't think that Sadiq has
- 24:05necessarily proven anything in college that he is better than
- 24:09these other prospects. I just think that that big
- 24:11playability is really what separates and in my mind adds
- 24:16enough value to go over. I wouldn't put him over Bowers
- 24:20just because Bowers has proven it year in and year out.
- 24:23But yeah, I think that given the right team, he could be very
- 24:26similar to Brock Bowers, though just a an absolute threat of a
- 24:30receiving tight end who can also block very well.
- 24:33Yeah, yeah. And just to go to one thing that
- 24:35Will had kind of brought up with the scouting reports and how it
- 24:37makes a difference for one inch versus this guy versus this guy.
- 24:41It's like we talked about this last year with Harold Fan and
- 24:43junior, right? He's not the typical size that
- 24:46you want to tight end, but look at the rookie season he had.
- 24:48He was very good for the Browns. So I don't necessarily think
- 24:52that the size of Kenyan Sadiq makes any difference when
- 24:56evaluating him as a player. I know we kind of talked about
- 24:58it for Ruben Bayne too and how he doesn't have the arm length
- 25:01and that type of stuff. But the reason why it's a factor
- 25:04for Ruben Bayne is because his length.
- 25:06Lack of length doesn't allow him to make tackles that he should
- 25:09make. Like he misses a lot of tackles.
- 25:11He actually missed over 15% of his tackles in every single
- 25:14college season. So when it like in that case, it
- 25:16does make a difference, but in the case of Kenyan Sadiq, I
- 25:18don't think his size makes any difference when it comes to
- 25:21evaluating the player. All right, so let's move on to
- 25:24the number 15 player on ESP NS top 50 big board, which is Miami
- 25:28Edge Akeem Mesador. I'm excited to talk about Akeem
- 25:31Mesador because after watching his tape, I think he's actually
- 25:34my favorite defensive player in this entire draft.
- 25:37If you were to look up the definition of relentless motor,
- 25:40you'd see the name Akeem Mesador next to it.
- 25:43This guy is flying around the field 100 miles an hour on every
- 25:46play, and especially when he's rushing the passer.
- 25:48And I'm going to say something that I'll get a lot of hate for
- 25:50and I do not care. Hakeem Mesedor is a better pass
- 25:54rusher than Ruben Bane. Kim Mesador is a better pass
- 25:58rusher than Ruben Bayne, and it's not just because he had
- 26:01more sacks in Bay. Watch the tape and you'll see a
- 26:03Kim Mesador consistently beating Ruben Bayne to the quarterback.
- 26:07There are a number of plays where I watched a Kim Mesador
- 26:09beat Ruben Bayne to the quarterback, and the only reason
- 26:12Ruben Bayne was credited with a half sack on the play is because
- 26:15the quarterback wasn't technically down yet when he got
- 26:17there. But really, it was a Kim Mesador
- 26:19that made the play. He's got an elite first step.
- 26:22He's got active hands to get off blockers.
- 26:25He's got an impressive change of direction and he's going 100
- 26:28miles an hour until the play is over.
- 26:31It's unfortunate because Akim Mizador won't be drafted in the
- 26:33top half of the first round because he'll be a 25 year old
- 26:36rookie, but I don't care. Akim Mizador might just be the
- 26:40best pass rusher in this entire draft.
- 26:42I absolutely love this guy. Will, I'm taking the I'm
- 26:45thinking that you don't agree with me.
- 26:46No, I was. I was trying to think of teams
- 26:48in the back half of the first round that that I would be a
- 26:50good fit. Because what you just told me
- 26:52Jewel was well, right in between the lines of what you just said
- 26:56is that he's very good but needs someone else to draw the
- 27:00attention. Because better or not, Reuben
- 27:03Bayne drew all the attention on that off on that defensive line.
- 27:07He got the double teams, he got the chip help.
- 27:09He got all that stuff on the opposite side because Reuben
- 27:12Bayne was the name that drew the attention.
- 27:15So, so the the backseat rusher Mesidor here was able to reap
- 27:20all the benefits because Reuben Bain got all the attention,
- 27:24which is great. I love that.
- 27:26And, and but what did he do with that attention?
- 27:28Was he made play after play after with with the lack of
- 27:31attention? Was he made all the plays?
- 27:33It's not like he didn't get the attention and it didn't make the
- 27:36plays. He made-up for it.
- 27:39He made that whole team better. Do you think that just because
- 27:41of what I said, or do you think that because that's actually
- 27:44what you think from scouting him?
- 27:46But no, I actually have him right to hire the Reuben Bay as
- 27:48well. But I just, I think that that
- 27:51might be a part of it. Same, same, same thing.
- 27:53We were just taking away from getting Sadiq with we're now
- 27:57giving to Mesador. He had to share, share the
- 28:01spotlight on that defensive line.
- 28:03The problem was he wasn't as big of a name as Reuben Bayne.
- 28:06And so they shifted all that to help the other side.
- 28:08So I, I, I do, I also like Mesador a lot.
- 28:12And I'm just going to kind of cut to the end here because I
- 28:14think the only thing that's really being talked about was
- 28:17was Mezdor is, oh, he'll be a 25 year old rookie.
- 28:20That's a big old. Who cares though for me.
- 28:22You sign. I don't care.
- 28:24You get him in a a rookie contract that has a four year
- 28:27guarantee 550 year team option. You keep him for that 50 year
- 28:31team option. He is in a probably late first
- 28:35round if not early second round contract so it's very team
- 28:38favorable. By the time his first contract
- 28:40over, he's 30 years old and now you don't have to re sign him.
- 28:44You get you ask any company ever when they hire somebody they
- 28:47want 5 good years out of somebody, that's all that they
- 28:50can really hope for. After that we got our money
- 28:52worth if we bring him in and train him for five good years, 5
- 28:56elite past Russian years. I mean no team can complain
- 29:00about that. All right, rookie deal and you
- 29:01don't have to reside him because he's 30 years old.
- 29:04I mean, come on, That's, that's, that's the dream.
- 29:06I mean, I think because he is a little bit older and he does
- 29:09have more experience, I think he steps into the NFL and is a day
- 29:14one starter and he doesn't need to be a guy who needs to be
- 29:17trained up as a pass rusher. I think he's an NFL ready pass
- 29:21rusher right now and I think will based off of what you were
- 29:24saying earlier, where he needs somebody on the other side to
- 29:26have all the attention. The perfect fit for a key
- 29:29mezzador would be the Detroit Lions.
- 29:31Yep, at pick 17 with Aidan Hutchinson on the other side,
- 29:34Hakeem Ezador would have a double digit sack season. 21
- 29:37Pittsburgh if they're gonna take a quarterback and you're still
- 29:39there. Yep, he's another good spot.
- 29:42Yeah, yeah. Although the last thing they
- 29:44need is more defense. They need to sure work out their
- 29:46offense so. I agree with both of you.
- 29:48Even the parts where you disagreed.
- 29:50I still agree with that. No, I, I, I agree with Joel
- 29:53completely, but also I, I, I, I, I'm glad Will brought that up
- 29:57that, that, you know, because the line was being distracted by
- 30:03other big bodies, it allowed him to go in and do work.
- 30:07I mean, fortunately, defense, as in, you know, as well as offense
- 30:11is a team sport. And so you know, it, if that's
- 30:13what it requires some bigger body, someone else to, to
- 30:17distract, draw a double team, you know, whatever to be able to
- 30:20go in there. I mean, I agree with Joel.
- 30:23The motor is insane. It is like he said, the
- 30:26definition of relentless. Also, I think he is ready to
- 30:30start day one. So I, I do think that he would
- 30:33be a good 1-2 punch with some other, you know, good edge
- 30:37rusher or even a, a big defensive tackle to take the
- 30:40pressure off. Yeah, I mean, really the only
- 30:42negative thing I have to say about him, aside from his age,
- 30:45which people I don't care about but people will say is a
- 30:48negative. The only other thing I have to
- 30:49say about him on the negative side is that he sometimes does
- 30:53lose his balance and loses his body control because he's going
- 30:56so fast that his body just can't keep up with how fast he's
- 30:59trying to move. Go watch the tape of Hakeem
- 31:02Ezidor. This guy is moving so insanely
- 31:05fast on every single play and he does not stop until the play is
- 31:08over. Like it is insane how quickly he
- 31:11gets off the ball, how fast he's moving throughout the entire
- 31:14play. This guy just does not stop.
- 31:16But sometimes his body just cannot keep up with him because
- 31:19he is trying to go so fast. But that's really the only other
- 31:23negative thing that I would have to say about him.
- 31:25But he's my favorite defensive player in this entire draft.
- 31:28Absolutely love him. I would like to see him do a
- 31:30better job of converting his speed into power and our last
- 31:34thing here an area of improvement is is lacks of
- 31:36strength to be offensive. I'm with good anchors.
- 31:38He he's got incredibly fast hands as well and he uses a two
- 31:42hand swipe. He will go down with it or he'll
- 31:44go or he tries to stay outside so he'll go well would be right
- 31:49with it. He swipes hands away, but that's
- 31:51that's just not always going to work.
- 31:52Some of these, some of these elite tackles in the NFL are
- 31:55just unbelievably fast at replacing their hands after
- 31:58they've been swiped, or punching with one hand and then after the
- 32:01swipe, punching with the other hand.
- 32:02I want to see more of him converting his speed into power
- 32:05and using that speed as power rather than just straight speed.
- 32:09But yeah, that the high motor and the speed is going to make
- 32:12every defensive coordinator just incredibly happy.
- 32:15Absolutely. And we mentioned this with Ruben
- 32:18Bayne, so I'll mention it again here because they both play for
- 32:20Miami. Their defensive line coach is
- 32:22Hall of Fame as Jason Taylor, so he has coached up these two guys
- 32:26very, very well. Overall, I think Akim Mesador
- 32:29is, I mean, we'll talk about it later too, but Akim Mesador is a
- 32:31better player than Ruben Bayne in my opinion.
- 32:34I just don't like Ruben Bayne that much, but I love Hakeem
- 32:37Ezador. All right, so let's move on to
- 32:39the number 16 player for ESPN, which is Utah offensive tackle
- 32:42Caleb Lomu. So will you're up.
- 32:45Yeah, I knew that was coming. I if if Caleb Lomu had a larger
- 32:51frame, he would easily, easily be the number one tackle in this
- 32:54draft. Just leaps, leaps and bounds
- 32:58better than both Maui Noah and definitely Spencer Fanno.
- 33:02I cannot believe Fanno's ahead of this guy.
- 33:04Truly shocked me. He's 66, only 304 lbs, and I
- 33:09know for the average human only 304 pounds is substantial, but
- 33:13when you're talking offensive tackle, it's not.
- 33:16He has the softest and fastest feat that I've seen an offensive
- 33:19tackle have in a long time. And you think that's a bad thing
- 33:22when you're trying to kick and slide and get your spot, you
- 33:25don't want heavy stomp and dinosaur feet.
- 33:29You want soft, fast feet. But he's also able to plant his
- 33:32feet and said he could anchor, good punch and elite ability to
- 33:35recover. Because he's got a smaller
- 33:37frame, he gets pushed off balance a bit, but his ability
- 33:41to recover and stay with the, the rusher is second to none.
- 33:46I'm, I'm, I'm pretty sure he's got the best technique of the
- 33:49three tackles that, that we've looked at so far.
- 33:51Utah used him a lot as a pulling tackle.
- 33:54He moved a lot. He wasn't hitting a lot of the
- 33:57defensive lineman. They were running usually away
- 33:59from him and so he'd pull and be the lead blocker.
- 34:02So he was hitting all the second level guys, which played to his
- 34:05strength immensely. Because he had a problem because
- 34:07of it, again, because of his size, he had a problem moving
- 34:11earth at the line of scrimmage. Great.
- 34:14And pass rush couldn't possibly move a defensive lineman in a
- 34:16run play to save his life it seemed like.
- 34:19But using him on as a pulling tackle, Excuse me, I'm so used
- 34:22to pulling yards, using him as a pulling tackle, getting
- 34:25downfield. He was able to to block
- 34:27linebackers, block safeties and he's fast enough to stay ahead
- 34:31of the run. There's a play that I saw in so
- 34:35many different scouting reports where he's 30 yards downfield
- 34:38blocking his safety as his running back.
- 34:40He's running right behind him and it ends up scoring A
- 34:42touchdown. It was just incredible to see.
- 34:44He's constantly looking for work, heads on the swivel as the
- 34:47D line stunts in front of him. He waits in the last possible
- 34:50second to make sure the pass off happens and he's picking up the
- 34:53next guy with his again, quick feet and quick hands.
- 34:55I think he will struggle in the in the league against as Rutgers
- 34:59to use brute force like like Miles Garrett.
- 35:03Everybody struggles against Miles Garrett, but against like
- 35:05a Miles Garrett type where they're just using brute force
- 35:08just to get through him because of his size.
- 35:10I think he has first round talent and technique in a third
- 35:12round buggy. Let me ask, what do you guys
- 35:15think of Lomo compared to Fano? Oh Lomu is way better.
- 35:19I don't. I truly don't understand how
- 35:22everyone says oh final is the best and Lomu is the second
- 35:25best. That is just not true.
- 35:28Not true. It is a pure size thing.
- 35:30That's it. You know, that's interesting
- 35:32because I feel like as a podcast and tell me if I'm wrong here,
- 35:35but we think that Mesador is better than Bain, but everybody
- 35:39else thinks Bain is better than Mesador, and we think that Lomu
- 35:42is better than Fano, but everybody else thinks Fano is
- 35:44better than Lomu. We're the experts, so they need
- 35:47to exactly they need to listen to us.
- 35:48We also said Jackson's art was going to be really good.
- 35:50And guess what happened? Yeah.
- 35:56I mean, that was me who said that first, by the way.
- 35:59So no. But there was two things with
- 36:05Caleb Ooman that stood out to me and Will already mentioned one
- 36:07of them, which was I was impressed with his ability to
- 36:10find defenders when he's pulling and he's on the move, he quickly
- 36:12located them where the defender was at and because of that, he
- 36:15was able to open additional holes in the run game.
- 36:18The second thing I was impressed with was his ability to expand
- 36:21the pocket and pass protection. I didn't see him get pushed back
- 36:24into the quarterback. He would either move his man
- 36:27further out to give his quarterback more room, or he
- 36:29would hold his ground and not let the pocket collapse.
- 36:32And watching his tape made me even less of a fan of Fano.
- 36:35Because when you watch Caleb Lomu, truly the only part of the
- 36:39pocket that was clean was where Caleb Lomu was.
- 36:42Everywhere else was an absolute mess.
- 36:44And Will, you were correct last time when you said Utah's right
- 36:46guard was absolutely terrible. I noticed how bad he was while I
- 36:50was watching the left side of the line because the quarterback
- 36:52was being pressured from the entire right side of the line
- 36:56and not where Caleb Lomu was. So I really liked his ability to
- 37:00read. He was so bad, so bad.
- 37:04I really liked Caleb Lomu's ability to redirect pass rushers
- 37:07with his hands and throw them off their pass rush plan.
- 37:10I I really liked Caleb Lomu a lot more than Spencer Fano.
- 37:14Just watching his tape, I think it was so much better than
- 37:16Spencer Fano's. I agree.
- 37:19I I didn't have as many thoughts on this guy, but I did know that
- 37:22I'm like this guy. Why is this guy ranked lower
- 37:24than Fano? That I'm just, I remember
- 37:26because I then look at some of those plays from Lomu and then
- 37:30locate Fano and be like, I mean, I know this is Lomu's highlight,
- 37:34but jeez, this is this is near night and day.
- 37:39So yeah, I completely agree. It's a full frame thing.
- 37:43Yeah, one thing I want to bring up real quick too is just for an
- 37:45area improvement. I think he needs to get better
- 37:48with his ability to finish. Too many times I saw him let go
- 37:51of defenders early because the ball carrier had either moved
- 37:54away from his side or ran past him.
- 37:56I just didn't see him give a full effort on blocks right up
- 38:00to the whistle like you do with Fano or Maui Noah.
- 38:03I think those guys block into the whistle.
- 38:05I didn't see Caleb Lomu doing that.
- 38:07I think he came off of his blocks early and although in the
- 38:10plays that I watched, his defender didn't end up making
- 38:13the play, they could potentially make the play.
- 38:15Like when you're in the NFL against guys who are faster,
- 38:17they're bigger, stronger, if you don't finish the block, there's
- 38:21potential that those guys could end up making the play.
- 38:24So I think that's something that Caleb Lomu needs to work on.
- 38:27All right #17 the number 17 player on ESP NS Top 50 Big
- 38:30Board is USC wide receiver Makai Lemon, my favorite player in
- 38:35this entire draft. And so for this one, I asked you
- 38:38guys to give me a player comp. And the reason I asked you to
- 38:41give me a player comp for Makai Lemon is because I've had a
- 38:44player comp for him for a couple weeks now, and I'm eager to
- 38:47share it. But before I do, I want to know
- 38:49if my comp is close to what you guys are thinking or if it's way
- 38:53off. I want to know how badly the
- 38:55Internet is going to roast me here.
- 38:57So Avery, why don't you start? Give me your player comp for
- 39:00Mackay Lemon. I initially had one and now I
- 39:03kind of have two, like kind of a like a a hybrid.
- 39:08At first I was kind of thinking of JSN, but then I was also kind
- 39:12of looking at Godwin a little bit too.
- 39:15And then looking at both of them, I'm like, honestly, he
- 39:17seems like just something kind of in the middle here.
- 39:20Just as far as just his ability to, I mean, just the reliability
- 39:24of JSN, but also the strength of of Godwin.
- 39:29Honestly, it looked literally like just somewhere in between
- 39:33those two players. That's what I had.
- 39:35I also wrote down JSN. Similar size come out of
- 39:38college, similar questions, and we have here have to build up
- 39:41speed to have an explosive first step.
- 39:43Same thing come out of Ohio State For JSN.
- 39:46I truly think it's kind of spot on.
- 39:48He just always sits in the hole, finds the open spot, makes the
- 39:51catches, they move forward. All right, so that makes me feel
- 39:54a little bit better. I don't think my account for him
- 39:56is as crazy as some people might think it is.
- 40:00Watch. This be Aminara St.
- 40:02Brown, and he told us not to go with him because he wanted to go
- 40:05with him to make us look. Yeah.
- 40:07Yeah, I did tell them not to choose Aminara St.
- 40:10Brown because that's what everybody says his player comp
- 40:12is, and I disagree. When I watch Mackay Lehman play,
- 40:16I see Antonio Brown. He's not the biggest, he's not
- 40:20the fastest, but he beats you anyway.
- 40:22It's the elite body control. It's the ability to track the
- 40:25ball. It's the aggressive style that
- 40:27he plays with. He plays 10 times bigger than
- 40:29his frame and he makes insane catches that he has absolutely
- 40:33no business making. USC was so confident in his
- 40:37ability to make catches, they would throw him fade routes in
- 40:40the end zone like he has the size of DK Metcalf.
- 40:43He's dangerous with the ball in his hands and I truly think that
- 40:46Makai Lemon is the best receiver in this draft.
- 40:48When I watch Makai Lemon play, I get the feeling that he is a
- 40:51special player that I don't get when I watch Jordan Tyson,
- 40:54Carnell Tate, or Denzel Boston. He does not care about his size.
- 40:58He does not care what size you are.
- 41:00He's not afraid to get hit. He's not afraid to do all The
- 41:02Dirty work. He runs great routes and I'm
- 41:04telling you guys, Makai Lemon is something special.
- 41:08He's him. Is that what you're saying?
- 41:10He's him. Makai Lemon him.
- 41:13Excuse me? I mean, what do you guys think?
- 41:16What do you guys think of that cop, Antonio Brown?
- 41:18I like it, I can see that. Another thing too, another
- 41:22reason why is because you watch highlights of Antonio Brown and
- 41:25watch highlights of Makai Lemon. You'll see on there that there's
- 41:28plays where Antonio Brown is just just doing that nasty stiff
- 41:32arm to some of these guys to get him off of him.
- 41:34And Antonio Brown is like 5-10, like 185 lbs.
- 41:38He's a little bit lighter and slightly shorter than Makai
- 41:40Lemon, but Makai Lemon is not a big guy and he's just finding
- 41:45ways to get off of these defensive backs to get extra
- 41:48yards. Like I saw him throw some nasty
- 41:50stiff arms. This dude again, has no business
- 41:55making some of these catches and he's making it look easy.
- 41:58Like he's like he's not even trying and he just makes the
- 42:01catch that he has absolutely no business making whatsoever.
- 42:05This dude is not blessed physically but his mindset and
- 42:10the way that he plays is insane. Would you say he's your Jackson
- 42:13Dart of the Year? Yes, my favorite player in this
- 42:18whole draft, Mackay Lemon, and it's not close.
- 42:21The amount of times I heard people in scouting airports
- 42:24whether it be PFF or any random YouTube like us say well if he
- 42:29were 6 foot, well if he were 6 foot dude it's 511.
- 42:33One inch. Yeah dude 511 1/2 I just truly
- 42:37don't think that matters anymore.
- 42:39You can be 511 and play bigger. I looked up how tall Cooper Cup
- 42:43was because I legitimately thought he was five. 10511 dude
- 42:476 foot two. I would have guessed he was 3
- 42:50inches shorter that he now not taking anything away from Cooper
- 42:53cup, he just stature rise looks smaller.
- 42:57I think we're at a point to where in the NFL that few inches
- 43:02does not matter as much anymore. In the receiver position
- 43:06specifically, your ability to gain separation and to get open
- 43:10matters significantly more than your than your height, because
- 43:15if you can be open and make the catch, who cares how tall you
- 43:19are? I actually think he uses it to
- 43:21his advantage more where he just sneaks in behind the defense or
- 43:24sits in the holes of the zone rather than being a big body
- 43:27like like a tet who's A6 four and you're going to see him
- 43:30everywhere in the field. He stands literally as just
- 43:33taller than everybody else. Yeah, I think the really where
- 43:35his size comes into play is he does have a little bit of a
- 43:38limited catch radius due to his size, but honestly, it doesn't
- 43:42matter. He'll make the catch anyway.
- 43:44If you give him the opportunity to make the catch, he's going to
- 43:47make it anyway. And really the biggest thing I
- 43:49think he needs to work on is the same thing that we mentioned
- 43:52with Denzel Boston and every receiver we've scouted so far.
- 43:55He struggles against physical corners at the line of
- 43:57scrimmage. It's the same thing with every
- 44:00receiver so far, at least the top ones in the draft because we
- 44:03haven't got to the bottom ones yet.
- 44:04But the same thing, he struggles against press coverage, physical
- 44:09corners, at the line of scrimmage.
- 44:11But outside of that, man, Mckelliman can do everything
- 44:13that you could possibly want from the receiver.
- 44:15Yeah, I think I, I, I mean, I agree.
- 44:17I, I think his dependability, but also his ability to make,
- 44:21make the big play, not even necessarily.
- 44:24I mean, he, he also has that ability, you know, the yards
- 44:27after catch, which is, you know, something that JSN doesn't have
- 44:31as much of at least, you know, comparing, you know, college to,
- 44:34you know, NFL, you know, fairly here, which is why I kind of
- 44:38gave him that Chris Godwin comparison as well.
- 44:40I, I was just curious if he had just if he's more injury prone
- 44:44or where the real weaknesses here.
- 44:47Because like Joel said, you know, Antonio Brown was a
- 44:50bonafide superstar for a number of years.
- 44:53And yeah, it was also undersized.
- 44:55But it's just one of those things where, you know, being at
- 44:58the right place at the right time, having the ability to go
- 45:01and make the catch, having the courage to make that catch while
- 45:05being pummeled is huge. So, yeah, I, I agree with Joy.
- 45:09I think he's, you know, this, this dude could be a a superstar
- 45:13for sure. I'm curious to see where you
- 45:14guys have him ranked because I, I.
- 45:17Where we have him ranked, comrade.
- 45:21I absolutely love this guy. I absolutely love Mikaela.
- 45:24And so I I'm excited to see where you guys have him ranked
- 45:29versus some of these other guys that we've already talked about.
- 45:32All right. But let's move on to the number
- 45:3418 player on the ESPN Top 50 big board, which is LSU cornerback
- 45:38Mansoor Dillane. Will, why don't you start us off
- 45:41with this one? Tell us about Mansoor Dillane.
- 45:43Man, I love this man Sword Dillane.
- 45:46Sore. I think he's a good candidate to
- 45:50go to the Rams, I really do. I don't think he makes it that
- 45:52far. I would love it love it if he
- 45:55did. Sorry.
- 45:58I tried to make sure my stats and our stats match up here. 45
- 46:01taps in the season, we've got 14 pass deflection, 2 receptions, A
- 46:05completion percentage of just 26.1% against him on over 200
- 46:10pass coverage snaps. Elite coverage instincts did not
- 46:13allow a single touchdown in 2025, and only two.
- 46:18And yeah, I was going to say and.
- 46:19Only two receptions of over 20 yards.
- 46:22Yeah, that is unbelievable. He would have more tackles and
- 46:26more pass deflections if they didn't just quit throwing the
- 46:29ball his way. They they, the opposing teams
- 46:34just decided we're not going to go that way on to our against
- 46:38against LSU. We will throw it to anybody else
- 46:41but whoever 4 is on. And unfortunately he's your best
- 46:44corner. So he's going up in the top five
- 46:46receiver. And so it's just, it's just a
- 46:49pure problem. He he is able to play at the
- 46:52highest level on both man and zone and did and did as such.
- 46:55In Virginia Tech they played all zone well mostly zone and LSU
- 47:00they aggressively played man coverage and he was all ACC and
- 47:04all SEC honors. I think all American at both
- 47:08schools and so able to play at the highest level.
- 47:11His speed is good but not great. Shorter arms may prove a problem
- 47:14when going up against bigger receivers like an A.J.
- 47:17Brown, who's both large and physical.
- 47:20But as we have here, he does not back down from these receivers.
- 47:23He goes at them. He is on them.
- 47:26I love Mansard Elaine, I watched a lot of his film today and I
- 47:33good stuff. I would love to see him on the
- 47:34Rams. I would love to see.
- 47:36Him really good. He reminded me a little bit of a
- 47:38just a bigger honey badger. Just the aggressiveness in which
- 47:42he attacks the ball just seemed just almost kind of downright
- 47:46frightening, especially playing man, just having this guy on
- 47:50you. You are on his island.
- 47:52Yeah, it's super impressive. I am.
- 47:53I am really curious. I'm always curious to see how
- 47:56cornerbacks do making the transfer from, I guess the
- 47:59transition from college to NFL just because, you know,
- 48:03sometimes, I mean, for. I'm glad he left Virginia Tech
- 48:06and went to the SEC just to kind of prove it's like, hey, I can
- 48:09do this and the big boy league. I mean, even though the SEC is
- 48:13kind of deteriorated a little bit past few years, but no, I, I
- 48:17think it's still. Better than it's still better
- 48:19than mostly everywhere else. Duke won the ACC title, by the
- 48:23way. That's that's the ACC right now.
- 48:26So they didn't. Think they were like 6 and four.
- 48:29Yeah, yeah, yeah. No one even no one even was mad
- 48:32about it either. Like that's how bad they were.
- 48:34No one, even Duke fans are like, yeah, I mean, we, we don't need
- 48:37to take another L Let's, let's let's end on a win here.
- 48:42No, I, I, I think this guy is great.
- 48:44I, I, I'd like just the this particularly the strength here,
- 48:47attacks the football and finishes plays.
- 48:49That's the biggest thing for me is, is just that ferocity of
- 48:52going in, but then also finishing the play.
- 48:55The, the number of times I've seen a cornerback go in strong
- 48:59and then barely miss and just let that receiver, you know, run
- 49:04for an extra 15 yards before the safety has to go get him.
- 49:07I like this guy a lot. Yeah, I do, too.
- 49:09I truly think that Mansur d'alene is going to be a
- 49:11shutdown corner in the NFL. He's got really fluid movement
- 49:15skills that allow him to mirror whatever their wide receivers
- 49:18are doing, and he sticks with them through their breaks.
- 49:21I also really liked how he just smothers the catch point of the
- 49:25ball. So whether the ball is up, high,
- 49:26down low on the chest, it doesn't matter.
- 49:29Wherever the ball is intended to be, he is smothering that area
- 49:33to prevent the wide receivers from making that catch.
- 49:35So I truly do think that Delane will be a shutdown corner in the
- 49:39NFL. One additional thing to note
- 49:41here during the season didn't allow a touchdown to reception
- 49:45to 20 plus yards. That was it.
- 49:47Also 0 penalties all season, no one single penalty.
- 49:51So it's not like he was caught cheating doing it.
- 49:53Not and say he wasn't cheating. And by cheating I don't mean
- 49:56like Spygate kind of that level of cheating.
- 50:00I mean holding is technically cheating against rules but but
- 50:04as they say it's only cheating if you get caught.
- 50:06So not saying he wasn't doing it, he was just really good at
- 50:09not getting caught and that's what you want.
- 50:11You want the guys who were really skilled at cheating.
- 50:17Evasive cheating. Yeah.
- 50:18Yeah. Yeah.
- 50:20All right. Well, if you guys don't have
- 50:22anything else to add here or with any of these other players,
- 50:25we will get into our rankings. So we're going to have 18 total
- 50:29players on our big board this week.
- 50:32So we will, I put the the current rankings in the chat for
- 50:36you guys, so I'll read them off for everybody who's listening.
- 50:38So our current rankings one through 12 are one Kale Downs, 2
- 50:43Arville Reese, three Fernando Mendoza, 4 Francis Maui Noah, 5
- 50:48Sonny Styles, 6 Jeremiah Love, 7 Colonel Tate, 8 Keldrick Falk, 9
- 50:53Jordan Tyson, 10 David Bailey, 11 Ruben Bain Junior and 12
- 50:58Spencer Funnel. So on the list, let's start from
- 51:00the top and the bottom, then we'll kind of fill in the middle
- 51:03from there. So are any of these players, do
- 51:05you think, are they going in the top three?
- 51:07No. Avery.
- 51:08No. OK I agree.
- 51:11So Caleb Downs, Arvo Reese and Fernando Mendoza are staying at
- 51:14three or one 2-3. Do you think Spencer Fondo is
- 51:17still the worst player on this list?
- 51:19Yes. Yeah, OK.
- 51:23You knew that was coming. Yes, I did because I think he's
- 51:26the worst player on this list as well.
- 51:28What about Reuben Bain? He's currently at 11.
- 51:30Where would you guys put Reuben Bain in comparison to these
- 51:32other guys that we just scouted? I have Reuben Bain ranked at #16
- 51:37for me. Hey, that's why I have them too.
- 51:40Who are the 17? I have Denzel Boston.
- 51:45Same dog, same. Avery, do you have any issue
- 51:51with that or do you agree? No, that, no, that sounds great.
- 51:55That sounds great. I had no one breaking into my
- 51:58top 8 this week. I think you'll disagree with
- 52:01Makai Lemon, but I have no one currently breaking in my top 8.
- 52:04OK, so Avery, where do you put Makai Lemon?
- 52:07I had put him above Carnell Tate.
- 52:09Honestly, I'd put him above Jeremiah Love.
- 52:12Because I haven't met 4 but I'm really really high on McKay
- 52:15Lyman so. I wouldn't want to I I can
- 52:20understand and mostly agree with your pipe on him, but simply
- 52:24because he's just a skill position player that I think.
- 52:29I don't think McKay Lyman is going to be a better NFL
- 52:33athlete, whatever we want to call it, than Sonny Styles.
- 52:37I mean, I'm willing to move. It's an overall thing, so I'm
- 52:40willing to move him around. That's just where I personally
- 52:42put him. I can agree with above Jeremiah
- 52:44Love, but I don't I don't think he cracks the top five.
- 52:47I would agree with Will. I would put him at six and move
- 52:51everyone down one position. OK, so you want to keep our
- 52:53current top five of downs, Arise, Mendoza, Mauino and
- 52:56Styles and then put him at six. OK, Yeah, I'm.
- 53:00Cool with that. I'll be honest, I like where we
- 53:03just put him. But if this guy, if Makai Lemon
- 53:08was initially ranked by whatever professionals and we had him the
- 53:12first time, like we had him in that first whatever top 6, I
- 53:16could see him being higher. I think partly it's just because
- 53:20we've already established so many other names that just
- 53:23skyrocketing him up almost feels a little irresponsible.
- 53:28That will just bring his ranking down.
- 53:30I had him at 8, we're putting him at six. 4 There's a big
- 53:37difference between 4:00 and 8:00.
- 53:39Well, sure, 4 numbers. Literally how big it is.
- 53:45OK, so since we moved Jeremiah Love down, do you want to keep
- 53:47him at 7:00 or do you want to move him down more?
- 53:50Because I think Delane should go at 7:00.
- 53:52That's where I have Delane ranked.
- 53:53I have him ranked at 7 and I have Love at eight.
- 53:57I'm good with that. I have Delane so so I've got
- 54:00Love Tate Falk at 789 and then Delane at 10.
- 54:05But I'm I'm good with moving about.
- 54:06I think he's a more refined football player than Kendrick
- 54:09Falk. He's probably a better athlete
- 54:11than Carnell Tate and everyone hates running backs.
- 54:17I do, yeah. I'm just trying to do Avery
- 54:20favor and just move the running back down as far as possible
- 54:22without. Being like that, I'm always, I'm
- 54:25always for that. Yeah, all.
- 54:28Right. OK.
- 54:29So you guys want to put Delane at 7:00?
- 54:31We'll do it. Something I want to do, we're
- 54:33going to do it. OK, do you want to move Jeremiah
- 54:36Love down any further than 8? Mean personally I like Tate
- 54:40above love, but I mean that might be splitting hairs to a
- 54:44degree. I mean, we have them right next
- 54:46to each other. We had them at 6:00 and 7:00
- 54:48last week. Well, OK, I'm going to keep Love
- 54:50at eight. We'll keep Tate at 9.
- 54:51Where are you guys putting Kenya Sadiq?
- 54:53I have him at 11. I could do that.
- 54:55I could do 11. Right between. 11 solid.
- 54:58Keltrick Falk and Jordan Tyson. OK.
- 55:00Where do you guys have Mesedor? Where do you guys have mesedor
- 55:02though? I have him at 15 right above
- 55:06Reuben Bain. So you think David Bailey's
- 55:08better? I do.
- 55:09So I've got, let me just run through this real quick.
- 55:12So 10 I've got Keltrick Falk, 11 Sadiq, 12 Jordan Tyson, 13 Lomu,
- 55:1814 Bailey, 15 Mesador, 16 Bain, 17 Boston, 18 Fano.
- 55:25I would put Mesador higher. I would too.
- 55:27I think I'm. I'm fine with that.
- 55:28I just, you know, ranked them. The only reason to move him down
- 55:34is because he's 25 or he's he's going to be a 25 year old
- 55:37rookie. That's the only reason that
- 55:39people will move him down. Yeah, that whatever all.
- 55:44Right. So do you guys want to keep
- 55:45Faulk, put Faulk at 10? I need to see like a active live
- 55:50list. It's in the chat even though
- 55:52it's not complete. Does someone put it in there?
- 55:55Oh, we'll put it in there. All 18.
- 55:57Yeah, all 18. Oh, we'll put one through 9.
- 56:00So the Reds are the yeah. I want to see.
- 56:02I want to see the bottom part, yeah.
- 56:03I don't know why I didn't pick up the last number, but Spencer
- 56:06Finer doesn't deserve a number. We will eventually find a player
- 56:10worse than him, but we have not done it yet.
- 56:14Not yet. I have a feeling it might be
- 56:16next week, but I don't know for sure yet.
- 56:18I actually, I'll be honest, I would put Kenyan Sadiq down to
- 56:22positions to 13, yeah. And then move the other two guys
- 56:25up. I'm totally good with that.
- 56:28OK, so put Sadiq at 13. So we got to fill in spaces
- 56:3210/11/14 and 15 or 10:11, 12/14 and 15.
- 56:36Do you guys think anybody on this list is better than Falk or
- 56:39are we going to put him at 10? I like him at 10.
- 56:41I'm cooled up. OK.
- 56:43I have Mesador at 11 Avery. I would, I would like him to be
- 56:47higher than he is right now on, on, on that tentative list right
- 56:50there at 15. I agree.
- 56:52I'm going. I'm going to move it up.
- 56:54OK, so here's who we have left. We've got Mesador, Jordan Tyson,
- 56:57David Bailey, Caleb Lomo. Personally, just because of the
- 57:00injuries and moving Jordan Tyson down, I just keep moving him
- 57:03down because of the injuries, Sure.
- 57:05So if you guys are good with Mesador at 11, I would like to
- 57:08put him there. All right.
- 57:09Yeah. OK.
- 57:15So then do you guys want to put Jordan Tyson at 12?
- 57:18I feel like if anything, let's let's just nitpick this thing
- 57:21right here. OK.
- 57:22So Jordan Tyson at 12 and then at 15 we would have David Bailey
- 57:27and 14 we would have Caleb Lomu. OK.
- 57:29Is that what you guys want to stick with?
- 57:31I like it for now, so just to recap.
- 57:33Our top 18 on our big board right now.
- 57:36One is Caleb Downs, 2 is Arvel Reese, 3 is Fernando Mendoza, 4
- 57:40is Francis Maui Noah, 5 is Sonny Styles, 6 Makai Lemon, 7 Mensur
- 57:45Delane, 8 Jeremiah Love, 9 Carnell Tate, 10 Keldrick Falk,
- 57:5011 Aqui Mesodor, 12 Jordan Tyson, 13 Kenyan Sadiq, 14 Caleb
- 57:56Lomu, 15 David Bailey, 16 Ruben Bayne, 17 Denzel Boston and 18
- 58:01Spencer Fono. You guys good with that?
- 58:03Yeah, I'm not great with the way that Jeremiah's mother spelled
- 58:07his name, but I'm not going to lower him any lower.
- 58:11You also mentioned that last year with Jackson Dart, so.
- 58:14Yeah, that's the most Utah name I've ever seen.
- 58:17And I know a lot of our listeners don't understand what
- 58:19that means, but I promise you, it's it's accurate.
- 58:22It's dead on accurate. OK, all right.
- 58:29Well, if you guys don't have anything else and we're going to
- 58:32wrap it up. So next week we will be scouting
- 58:34the players that are ranked 19th through 24th on the ESPN Top 50
- 58:39Big Board. But that's all we got time for
- 58:41on our episode today. And as always, guys, don't
- 58:44forget to keep your balls played with.
- 58:46We'll see you next time. Bye now y'all.
- 58:48Also, Mark Davis and Sarah Kyle still sucks.
