- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning.
- 0:29Good morning. So tell them what we're talking
- 0:32about today. Today.
- 0:34We are going to talk about things that non Californians are
- 0:39observing about California. Yeah.
- 0:42It's I feel like I'm in a very unique space, let's put it that
- 0:46way. You know, coming back, I lived
- 0:48here for 10 years and I've been gone for 14.
- 0:51So coming back, it's like, how did I do this?
- 0:55I don't know. I never lived here and I, I.
- 0:57Don't know, but I do think I will say I do think things have
- 1:00elevated and I will say that I know that I hate to use the C
- 1:04word of COVID, but I do feel like some states didn't recover
- 1:08and some some did better. And I feel there's definitely, I
- 1:13haven't seen as many hand sanitizing stations as I have
- 1:18here. Everywhere you go, it's hand
- 1:20sanitizer. Hand sanitizer still, which I
- 1:22find interesting. I don't see them anywhere in
- 1:24Texas. We don't.
- 1:26I don't see them really anywhere in South Carolina.
- 1:28I didn't see any that much during COVID either so I mean.
- 1:31We didn't. We had very different
- 1:32experiences, like we, let's be very real about it, like we had
- 1:35very different experiences in the states we live in as opposed
- 1:38to. Here, Yeah.
- 1:40So the hand sanitizers was definitely one thing that we've
- 1:43noticed. The other thing is you have to
- 1:46ask for everything. Everything.
- 1:49Like everything. We went to dinner the other
- 1:51night and it said in a very tiny print.
- 1:53Did you see how small that print was in the bottom corner of the
- 1:56menu? It was.
- 1:58If you'd like bread and butter, please ask your server.
- 2:01Supplies are limited. Yes I was like and he was happy
- 2:07to bring it. He didn't complain but like if
- 2:09if we said nothing we weren't getting any.
- 2:11No, no. That was interesting to me.
- 2:15Well, I also found it to be we go into a coffee shop and it's
- 2:20virtually. Do you remember during COVID
- 2:22where everything was like empty? Social.
- 2:24Distancing, social distancing, if they were still doing it in
- 2:26the coffee shop and when you went to go to where you would
- 2:29get your cream and sugar and stirs, straws and all that, it
- 2:33was empty and it said ask at the counter, please.
- 2:36Go to counter for it said condiments, which I thought was
- 2:39weird. 'Cause it's not condiments.
- 2:41They're not. Condiments, but that's what it
- 2:42said. And you go up and I'm like, do
- 2:44you have napkins? And then they hand you 2 napkins
- 2:47and it's like, do you have more? Like I, I don't, I just we're
- 2:51having. Cake they're rationing that
- 2:52they're. Rationing and and it was just
- 2:55very interesting because it's almost like you still feel like
- 2:59you're in that state of what's there and the signage
- 3:03everywhere, you know, like how I mean there's just so much.
- 3:08Oh, and then we were at the restaurant too, in Old Town and
- 3:11remember it said there's like a $3 and like 60 cent.
- 3:15It was a 4% fee. It was 4%, OK, maybe that's
- 3:19calculated it to. Oh yeah, it was 4% fee for
- 3:22increased expenses and wages or something, right?
- 3:26Yeah, it was some some strange thing, but we didn't just see it
- 3:29there. That's been in a couple of
- 3:30different restaurants. Oh.
- 3:32Right. But that one was the restaurant
- 3:33too, where if you had more than eight people, it was a 20%
- 3:37surcharge. So that would be almost 25% of
- 3:41your bill in additional fees. Yes, if eight people went to eat
- 3:44at this restaurant, Yeah. Which was which was shocking.
- 3:48And so we just kept like looking and saying, OK, all these little
- 3:52things like add up and they do things, you know, even like when
- 3:57we went to the spa, there was this observation of let's would
- 4:02you like, you know, obviously have to pay for the service
- 4:04before you go in. And then they are asking, well,
- 4:07would you like to leave a tip? Well, I don't, I haven't even
- 4:09had the service. Why would I want a tip yet?
- 4:11I don't even know if the girl's any good.
- 4:13Like, I don't know. I, I had a girl, a massage, you
- 4:17know, that's why I haven't gone in a long time back, way back
- 4:20when and she 8 months ago and she was horrible.
- 4:24She talked the whole time. It was a miserable experience.
- 4:27So you want you don't want to be pre charged for sure.
- 4:30And then also too, we noticed that several places everything's
- 4:34locked. So like we wanted to go to the
- 4:36rest, the restroom. We just drove an hour and a half
- 4:39and like you can't open the door.
- 4:41You need like a special code from where we got our coffee
- 4:44from. So I guess if you don't order,
- 4:47you can't use the restroom. I mean, I get it, but it's just,
- 4:50you know, everything's on lockdown.
- 4:52And they even said at the spot, too, that, you know, we had
- 4:55these special cars because they didn't want people to come in
- 4:58that weren't supposed to be there.
- 5:00Yeah, so they people, they had people sneaking in.
- 5:03Yeah. So it, it's just been very, very
- 5:05strange. And and just because it's so
- 5:07humorous, I like have to read this because there was a sign
- 5:10that I she's laughing because I took a picture of the sign
- 5:13because I could not understand it at the pool, at the spot.
- 5:16Now we're talking like a really high end place that we were
- 5:20treating ourselves to. This is the sign that was
- 5:22hanging on the gate. Persons having currently active
- 5:26diarrhea or who have had active diarrhea within the previous 14
- 5:32days shall not be allowed to enter the pool water.
- 5:36So I immediately had to take a picture of that because I'm
- 5:39cracking up that how are they policing this?
- 5:42Yes, but the problem was the sign was on the backside of the
- 5:46door. So you already went in and then
- 5:48you probably went in the pool and by the time we saw the sign,
- 5:50we were leaving. Yes.
- 5:52That's true. Had sailed at that point well.
- 5:55But The thing is it that that is a major point.
- 5:59But who's policing this? Who's asked?
- 6:02Who's asked Sir, have you had diarrhea in the last 14 days?
- 6:06I don't know, but it was just one of those things.
- 6:08And it's not a small sign. That was a big sign.
- 6:10That was a significant sign that was hanging on a fence and it
- 6:14was made out of metal. Like there was a commitment to
- 6:17this the. The the problem is is there
- 6:19definitely have had incidents is as to what there is this sign.
- 6:23Maybe who knows? But anyway, so these are our
- 6:26general observations and I think from a, a perspective of like,
- 6:31why are we talking about this? It's that everybody lives
- 6:33differently and understanding their world is so important.
- 6:36Like, you know, you have to understand where someone's
- 6:39coming from. Like for us, we live completely
- 6:41differently and you know, and here they live in a completely
- 6:44different state of mind. So we are just being patient and
- 6:48observant and laughing when we can, which is a lot of the time.
- 6:53I think honestly, like noticing the differences, you know, it's
- 6:56been humorous, but it's also one of those things where I can see
- 7:00people coming to Texas are being like, what is this?
- 7:03Like? I'm sure it happens on the other
- 7:05end too. But we've enjoyed pointing out
- 7:08some of the discrepancies or differences between our States
- 7:11and here. For sure, and we just wanted to
- 7:13share them all with you. So we hope you had a good laugh
- 7:15at that and enjoyed the diarrhea sign.
- 7:18All right, my friends, have a blessed day and we'll see you
- 7:20tomorrow. Bye bye.
