- 0:03podcast. Woo woo.
- 0:07Woo, welcome to Bangor Management, the fantasy hockey
- 0:12podcast with Jake and Kevin. Today.
- 0:14Some call us the best 2 host of Bangor Management.
- 0:17Would you agree? Some do call us that.
- 0:19I would agree. I mean, listen, if you're on the
- 0:22podcast, it means you're one of the two best hosts.
- 0:23I think that's how it works, Josh.
- 0:27Josh is missing today because he is currently driving to Montreal
- 0:32to meet with us. So listen, we asked him if he
- 0:35could record from the car. He said he really wanted to, but
- 0:38he, you know, it would have been difficult.
- 0:40So listen, you get the two best hosts today.
- 0:45Yeah, yeah, that's well said. Well said.
- 0:48Today is our Week 23 Waivers episode.

- 1:10Discord, a great community of listeners.
- 1:11Even if you're not in the Discord yet, we appreciate all
- 1:13the support. We genuinely do.
- 1:15Hopefully, hopefully you're, you're either battling it out
- 1:20ready, already locked in for the semis next week or the finals,
- 1:23depending on your your fantasy settings.
- 1:25How are we doing, Kevin, these days?
- 1:28I mean, so we're recording this Saturday right before all the
- 1:31games of the day and you guys are going to be hearing this
- 1:34Sunday morning. So it's going to be stressful.
- 1:38And to the weak, like obviously like going in Monday was a
- 1:41horrible day for me because my opponent once again started his
- 1:44match up with a shorthanded point.
- 1:46And it, it, it feels like everything has been going
- 1:50against me these playoffs but somehow like barely squeaked by
- 1:55as of late. Wednesday looked like my matchup
- 1:56was completely over. I was like, I would have given
- 1:58myself like a 10% chance. Then the Thursday games really
- 2:02helped me out. My team popped off.
- 2:03But yet again, it feels like I have games on my opponent
- 2:06because I, you know, plan strategically forward.
- 2:09The semifinals had so many off nights, all my, you know, my
- 2:12Rangers guys, my trocheck, my will coolies and a lot of
- 2:16people, a lot of guys let me down.
- 2:17Like last night I, I had think 6 guys playing and my opponent had
- 2:22two guys playing and we ended the night with the same amount
- 2:25of points. And that would have been like a
- 2:27big night for me to kind of like overtake him in points.
- 2:29Um, but now it's basically 5050. I give myself basically a 40%
- 2:33chance of winning, winning my matchup.
- 2:37So listen better than earlier in the week, but it's going to be
- 2:40tough. Like it's really going to depend
- 2:41on how the goalies go. Goalies, goalies are so
- 2:44volatile. I know everybody in this course
- 2:45is, is super annoyed. Let's say I can use the worst
- 2:48word, but I'll use annoyed. But just people that have
- 2:52carried you all season dropping the ball.
- 2:53Like Alex Lyon had his worst game in the season and a lot of
- 2:56people are running Alex Lyon. Kemper gets a shout out after
- 2:59being so bad. Like it's just the the
- 3:01volatility of everything. Yeah, it's, uh, it's honestly,
- 3:07I, I find that it's a really tough thing to do it with
- 3:11bullies. I mean, Josh is suggested in the
- 3:12past many times just let's just not have goalies in the league.
- 3:16You've got to have, but like, no, it has to know.
- 3:20It's really tough. Like it has to work.
- 3:21There are leagues where bad performances are not scrutinized
- 3:25as much as they are in our league.
- 3:27But I like it. It's so high stakes and I, I
- 3:30don't, I know it's, it's unpredictable to a degree, but
- 3:33it makes it really, really fun. And like right now I mean that
- 3:37my 2 goalies are Dan Vladar and Brandon Bussey.
- 3:39And I'm just like, it could be like, I have no clue how these
- 3:44next they have a back-to-back. So I'm getting one star out of
- 3:46each of them. I have no idea how this is gonna
- 3:49go. It could be like, it's just
- 3:51totally unpredictable. So I'm in the same boat as
- 3:54everyone. Else coordinate playing, you get
- 3:56Vidar's playing Detroit or Dallas.
- 3:58So you gotta hope you guys, Detroit.
- 3:59They're probably actually, I don't know, May I think, I mean,
- 4:03I'd rather Detroit, I suppose. But he did not get the start
- 4:06last game and. Yeah, so he started tonight
- 4:08probably getting Detroit, then Bush's probably getting New
- 4:12Jersey. So.
- 4:13Which would also be better than Montreal.
- 4:16I mean, New Jersey's been hot. I don't know if you've seen
- 4:18Brat. Brat's got 17 points in his last
- 4:2111 games. I'm just putting it out there
- 4:23for all the the Brad haters. I know he's been carrying a lot
- 4:25of people in their fantasy playoffs, me included.
- 4:29And Jake, you might gossip spare back finally.
- 4:31So that should be the day-to-day turned into millennia to
- 4:36millennia forever. But like it's always it's always
- 4:41tough when that happens. But yeah, I know it's anyway
- 4:44definitely in two episodes from now you're gonna hear us talk
- 4:48about our hot topics and the playoff picture will be on
- 4:51there. So be sure to stay tuned for
- 4:53that, which is dropping Thursday the 2nd April 2nd.
- 4:57So yeah, we'll be. But yeah, in the meantime, let's
- 5:02dive into this episode. Once again, it's our Week 23
- 5:06waivers episode. We'll start with reviewing our
- 5:09Week 22 choices. As always, this was a good.
- 5:12One there was. This was finally.
- 5:14One, yes, agree. Yeah, that's big.
- 5:18That's big. I think I have like this real
- 5:21obsession with trying to finish the year with twice as many wins
- 5:25as losses and we're on, we're on like the trajectory to be able.
- 5:29To do it one more week, one more good week.
- 5:31Yeah, yeah. So we had Pablo Zaka and three
- 5:34games played he got one goal, 2 assists, 3 points.
- 5:38We you may hear his name later on.
- 5:39No spoilers then. Frank Nazar, four games, sorry,
- 5:44that would have been pretty insane.
- 5:47Four games played, one goal, one assist, 2 points.
- 5:49That's also a win. Anthony Cirelli, he was our top
- 5:53choice last week. He had four games and three
- 5:56goals, which we are considering a win as well.
- 6:00This, yeah, it brings our record to 39 and 21.
- 6:04Not to pull out, you know, the mathematician side of my brain,
- 6:08but I believe we have to have all three wins this coming week.
- 6:11Which we will. We get the we'd be 4242 and 21
- 6:14and I'd be pretty happy with that.
- 6:16That'd be that'd be pretty groovy.
- 6:19SO2 game teams for this coming week, which I think is tough
- 6:22because these are two spicy teams right now with a lot at
- 6:27stake, so they gotta go all out. You got natural Predators and
- 6:30the Utah Mammoth. Some call it just the Utah.
- 6:34Yeah, it's always the Utah you gotta.
- 6:37Exactly So like I mean, just just before we kind of move on
- 6:41from this, this is oftentimes you like to give a good old
- 6:43profile Chev, who are you dropping from these two teams?
- 6:46I think this is a tough decision because if you're also don't
- 6:50forget context, this is going to be deep.
- 6:52Championship, the final. Of your, you know, fantasy
- 6:55leagues in almost every every league out there, right, like
- 6:57mostly, I think, and in week 23. So this is do or die right now.
- 7:01You don't have the luxury of being patient for two games when
- 7:06you can get 4 from maybe something really productive like
- 7:09it's these are these are must win matchups.
- 7:10You have No, there's no there's no extra life here.
- 7:13It's game over if things go wrong.
- 7:15And both Utah and Nashville, their first game of the week is
- 7:19going to be on a Thursday. So that's Monday, Wednesday,
- 7:21Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday with no games for either of those
- 7:23guys. So hypothetically, if you drop
- 7:26somebody, let's say on Sunday, when this episode comes out and
- 7:29you know you're streaming guys on like Monday, Wednesday or
- 7:32like for the off nights or you're streaming guys that play
- 7:35on Tuesday as well. Like you can get like one or two
- 7:37games in your lineup before those guys even like hit your
- 7:41starting lineup. So definitely something to
- 7:43consider. And those Thursday and Saturday
- 7:46games are extremely heavy. Like almost all the teams play
- 7:50on those two games. We got 14 games on the on
- 7:53Thursday and 15 games on on Saturday.
- 7:56So like just fitting them into your lineup on those days is
- 7:59also going to be difficult. Obviously some of these guys are
- 8:01popping out, so let's write awesome names right now like I'm
- 8:04telling. People just to just wanna
- 8:06elaborate before you did that before we get into it.
- 8:08So basically the next week they have six games in the week 24,
- 8:12which spans 2 weeks. So don't get excited in a seven
- 8:15day span they have six games. So it's basically in line with
- 8:18other teams. So really the decision to drop
- 8:21or to pick up if you are in a week 24 final scenario, which I
- 8:24just want to mention as a caviat that really this is really
- 8:28depending on this next week. So like once you're looking into
- 8:31week 24, I actually think one of the good teams to hold because
- 8:34they're competing in the playoff spot.
- 8:36But yeah, list some names and let's see where we're at.
- 8:39I'm gonna just try to take this as a week 23 as your finals.
- 8:42Like that's the. Way, I mean even week, even if
- 8:45your finals week 24, you have to make the finals, right, and you
- 8:47may not make the finals if you have these guys in your roster
- 8:50because your opponents got way more volume over you right.
- 8:53So like to me, I mean a lot of the Nashville have been good,
- 8:57like Stamkos has been great. Forsberg has been great monster.
- 9:00Yeah, Ryan O'Reilly has been great.
- 9:02Like all of these guys have been really solid to me.
- 9:05Ryan O'reilly's the easiest cut, not because he's like a terrible
- 9:09player, just because of like, you know, two games this week
- 9:12and it's on the two heaviest nights to me.
- 9:16I'm cutting going into, you know, the Monday and just trying
- 9:19to maximize some some schedules. Like if you can add two games
- 9:23before he even gets 1, you can honestly even like consider
- 9:26picking him pick up for the second-half of the week.
- 9:30I'm not saying that you need to go into it with that plan, but
- 9:32it's an option. Stamkos and Forsberg is tough
- 9:35because Stamkos has been on fire too.
- 9:37Like I'm playing, I played against him and it was not fun
- 9:40seeing, you know, he got 10 Pimms against me.
- 9:42How does that make any sense? I don't know.
- 9:44I'm cooked for pimps this week, so that's another.
- 9:47I lose all the volatile cats every week, funny enough, but
- 9:52Forsberg too, like Forsberg I think is the only one that I
- 9:54probably wouldn't cut. I can't like I thought about it,
- 9:59I was like, OK, you know, if I do make it to next week, which
- 10:02I'd say I'm at like 3540% chance right now, it's pretty tough.
- 10:07But like he's he's averaged 1.71 in his last two weeks, points
- 10:10per game. It's ridiculous.
- 10:11His shots and hits are solid too.
- 10:13He's getting a block here and there, which is more than you
- 10:16can expect. I can't rationalize dropping him
- 10:19but also. Not as bad because our league is
- 10:22so deep, but it's very rare that we have to bench a player.
- 10:25Like we only have two bench spots and as long as you have
- 10:27like one or two off nights, like you're hitting everybody in your
- 10:30lineup even on the heavy nights. So we don't have the big as big
- 10:32of an issue as, you know, other leagues that have bigger
- 10:34benches, smaller starting lineups that they're
- 10:37consistently making the decision.
- 10:39So, so you know what, we'll get into it.
- 10:41I think as we list off the players in the top 10 like this,
- 10:44like that could be the benchmark, like a Forsberg,
- 10:47Stamkos, that would be good. Shifting over to Utah, I mean,
- 10:50are you dropping like Sergachev? You know, teams on both my main.
- 10:55Leagues. The only guy you are dropping I
- 10:57think is Clayton Keller. I think Gunther.
- 11:00I would drop Gunther. Really.
- 11:02Yeah, alright. Yeah.
- 11:04So it's it's there is. You're trying to maximize the
- 11:07schedule, right? Like that's what I'm talking
- 11:09about here. If I can get, you know, Gunter
- 11:10with two games or, you know, whatever we're gonna talk about
- 11:14at the top of our list today, like a guy that's got four games
- 11:18plus some off nights, like that's just it just feels like
- 11:20you might get even more value out of there so.
- 11:23Yeah, that's fair. That's fair.
- 11:25I mean like a Saint Louis has such a monstrous.
- 11:27Schedule this week still in Holloway would four games or
- 11:29Dylan gone through with two games?
- 11:31Like give me Holloway any day of the week.
- 11:33Yeah, snuggerud. Well, Dylans, yeah.
- 11:35It's these guys won't be on our show cause over 40% owned.
- 11:38But I'm just saying like putting the names out there.
- 11:40Yeah, they're available like in the shallower type leagues that
- 11:44you're speaking about, they are available in all likelihood tons
- 11:48of four-game teams this week. Don't need to list all of them
- 11:50off, but there are a bunch. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday are
- 11:54the busiest. To add to that, Saturday is
- 11:58Saturday and Thursday are really, really intense.
- 12:01Like I would consider Tuesday to be significantly less because
- 12:04even the. Saturday only two teams do not
- 12:07play. Every other team plays. 30 teams
- 12:10play on on Saturday so. It's 4 on Thursday so.
- 12:15Four teams do not play on Thursday.
- 12:16Yes. Correct.
- 12:17Yeah, exactly. So.
- 12:18But Saturday especially. Yeah, I guess we may as well
- 12:21list those teams. You got Philly and Saint Louis,
- 12:24so. Yeah.
- 12:25Those are the teams that do not play on Saturday.
- 12:28So those are the teams that potentially have great schedules
- 12:32for you in terms of like the off nights because both of those
- 12:34teams early on Friday, Sunday instead of the Saturday.
- 12:37Yeah, exactly. And anything to add?
- 12:41Yeah, the the off night teams, I mean, I I would say that those
- 12:44are like really like the big ones.
- 12:45But you can also look at Anaheim, Colorado, the
- 12:47Islanders, Pittsburgh, San Jose and Vancouver, another subset of
- 12:52off nights. OK, let's get into our list
- 12:55starting at. #10. Or of the Philadelphia Flyers.
- 13:04Speak of the Devils. Well, not the Flyers, I suppose.
- 13:07Yeah, speak of the Flyers. We have the alliteration king
- 13:13Matvey Michkov, Line 3 power play.
- 13:16What? I feel like he's Loki, Josh's
- 13:17nemesis. He hates him.
- 13:19You know, we we definitely were you doing him any favors on the
- 13:24podcast last episode when you missed, we were talking about
- 13:27how he has a, you know, premium subscription to Shady Maple or
- 13:29whatever it's called. But he's he's been hot.
- 13:33He's been hot over the last five games.
- 13:36He's a point per game. So this is the guy that we did
- 13:39not give any love to throughout the season, mostly because he's
- 13:43been out of form. His deployment was inconsistent.
- 13:45He just wasn't producing either. Right now we're near the end of
- 13:48the season. I don't actually think I mean
- 13:50less than Philly is still in the playoff picture.
- 13:52Are they trying to make the playoffs?
- 13:53I don't actually think so. Like their team is not made to
- 13:57not made to make the playoffs, but there's like one point or
- 14:01two points out and they're not like we don't consider them a
- 14:03playoff team, right? So they're still in the running,
- 14:06however, and Mitch Cox is hot. Philly, like we said just
- 14:09before, has a great schedule this week with the off nights.
- 14:13So that's why I think he's on this list as well.
- 14:16Michael is on the worst power play in the league.
- 14:19So listen, you don't love dying, not streaming for power play
- 14:21points, but he's hot right now. He could get you some shots that
- 14:25one or two or zero. That's kind of what it feels
- 14:27like, but it's mostly just like the points I've been flowing in
- 14:29right now. If you need to stream points,
- 14:31he's a name that you watch. Yeah, yeah, Well said.
- 14:34I don't have much to add on to that.
- 14:36Just kind of for like all the players we're gonna talk about,
- 14:39you know, moving forward for the episode.
- 14:41Pittsburgh has five games, so that's kind of something to
- 14:44highlight The only team with five games.
- 14:46Everyone else who were mentioning on this list and the
- 14:49top five bangers list has four games.
- 14:52OK And then we're going to also highlight the Saint Louis and
- 14:55the Philadelphia players who have those off nights the the
- 14:58the two like really the Thursday and the the Saturday off.
- 15:02So that's kind of like I just otherwise you could pretty much
- 15:05assume four games. Like I'm not gonna just read it
- 15:07over anytime. It'll just get annoying for all
- 15:09the listeners and yeah, just just want to point that out.
- 15:15OK, next. At #9. #9 We have Marco Rossi of
- 15:23the Vancouver Canucks. He's been on my on my roof.
- 15:28Do I add him? Do I not listen on while it's
- 15:31this has been a tough one. He's been playing really, really
- 15:34well on the season. He's at .72 points per game.
- 15:37But I feel like the vast majority of that production has
- 15:39come recently and he's getting the ice time.
- 15:42I remember when he when he was drafted, ha ha, classic me.
- 15:46Look at me remembering these things.
- 15:50He he was actually like a really solid profile, but he he just
- 15:54never fit on the wild. And now with the true rebuild in
- 15:58Vancouver happening, it's nice to see that they're giving him
- 16:00all the opportunities. You know, the past five games,
- 16:03he's pretty much averaged over 17 minutes a night, which is
- 16:07great to see. So I think I think this is a
- 16:10really solid option. Yeah, Vancouver has kind of been
- 16:12hot for the last two weeks ish. Like Rossi, if I recall, he's
- 16:18got like 10 points in his last 12 games.
- 16:20A lot of that is coming from 2 specific games where you had
- 16:23three, three points versus Nashville, I think 3 points
- 16:25versus forget the other team. But like they had like A5 game
- 16:29stretch where like that line with Rossi and Besser like went
- 16:32off. So they made my watch list And
- 16:36listen, four games this upcoming week, the power play is not
- 16:38great. It's like slightly below
- 16:39average. So I'm not banking on that.
- 16:42But like the points could come and I'm just monitoring the
- 16:45situation because it's still Vancouver assets at the end of
- 16:48the day. And like, you know you're in
- 16:49your championship, do you want to put your life on the line for
- 16:53Vancouver assets sealing the deal for you?
- 16:56It's tough, but when a player is informed or inform and when
- 16:59they're getting a deployment, getting a deployment and even
- 17:01players on bad teams can succeed, right?
- 17:03So that's why you got to mention the name.
- 17:05He's not a category stopper. So you got to keep that in mind.
- 17:07Like if you're in the faceoff wins league, he's a pure seed
- 17:09and he'll get like some face off wins but he doesn't have a high
- 17:12shot, volume is small so you're just streaming for the points.
- 17:15His hits aren't bad though. Yeah, actually, I wouldn't
- 17:19consider Marco Rossi a guy that like gets to his game, but he's
- 17:22going through a stretch right now.
- 17:23Like he's added some physicality and I don't even like
- 17:26Vancouver's just playing to play right now.
- 17:28It feels like they're, they're already coasting, right?
- 17:31Obviously they haven't been running for quite some time, so
- 17:34they're just gonna feed these young guys with some minutes.
- 17:36And I would expect his minutes to be higher, if I'm being
- 17:38honest. But they've been hovering
- 17:40around, like you said, like 16 to 17 minutes.
- 17:42I wish it was a little higher, but still, it's not.
- 17:44It's not bad at all. Yeah, yeah and listen like since
- 17:47I mean when he got traded he didn't like start playing right
- 17:51away, but since the over the last month he's at a point per
- 17:53game Yeah not notice that you. Know and we do need to profit
- 17:56share just real quick. Do not forget all the guys we're
- 17:58talking about today are less than 40% owned.
- 18:01So if you're going into the finals of your matchup like and
- 18:04you know, come playoff time, a lot of big names get cut because
- 18:07people are trying to be desperate to win their playoff
- 18:09matchups. Like you know, Dylan Larkin had
- 18:11got cut early in the playoffs and hour league.
- 18:13Like if guys like that are available, you know, you should
- 18:16definitely consider them more than the guys were listening.
- 18:18Like Marco Ross is only 12% owned, so it's like a deeper
- 18:21league cut. So just be conscious that if
- 18:23there's a guy in your in your league that's maybe over 40%, he
- 18:27might be way better than the guys talking about today on this
- 18:29list. But we're not going to mention
- 18:31them because he doesn't make the criteria.
- 18:32So be wary. Look at your waiver wire, see
- 18:35who's available. Yeah.
- 18:37And make sure your. Diligence, yeah.
- 18:39And like, for instance, someone on the brink, Owen Tippett,
- 18:42who's been very, very good recently.
- 18:47I traded him away earlier in the season, some classic.
- 18:51But all this to say, it's like, yeah, I mean like someone like
- 18:54him who's on 42%. Of yeah, yeah, it's gonna make
- 18:57this little Philly has a great Friday Sunday schedule.
- 19:00Yeah, yeah. Alex Laferriere is another one
- 19:03at 43 percent on. Yeah.
- 19:04So it's like there are those players on the brain, like, you
- 19:07know, this does not have to be followed religiously.
- 19:11It's just in the deeper leagues below 40%.
- 19:13That's deeper leagues are waivers means means more because
- 19:17you want to try to make the most of like quote UN quote subpar
- 19:20options. But if you have the studs on
- 19:22your waiver wire like, you know, prioritize those.
- 19:25Yeah, absolutely. OK, let's move on to the next
- 19:27one at. #8. #8 We have Igor China Kov since he shed the why
- 19:35and joined the Pittsburgh Penguins, he has been thriving 5
- 19:38games this upcoming week. As mentioned, he like you can't
- 19:42even look at the season average points per game because he was
- 19:44really not doing anything on Columbus.
- 19:46They simply did not give him the opportunity.
- 19:48But he's been such a great pickup for me since I since I
- 19:52picked him up. And yeah, I mean over 2 1/2
- 19:56shots for the past month .88 points per game is power play.
- 20:01Points have been very solid, too.
- 20:02The thing with Pittsburgh is that they do not thrive without
- 20:06Crosby, and they really can't get by without Crosby and
- 20:10Malkin. So with Mulkins there, I think
- 20:13like, things can still happen if Crosby's there.
- 20:15I mean, things are great when they're both there.
- 20:17They've been thriving. I mean, like, I don't even know
- 20:19if Pittsburgh is gonna make the playoffs, but we can, we could
- 20:21dive into. Should.
- 20:22Yeah, yeah, we'll talk about that in the Hot Topics episode.
- 20:26We'll do a deeper dive. But at the end of the day,
- 20:28without those two, I think the whole team is in a tough
- 20:32position. And it's like, I guess the
- 20:34silver lining is that if they're both not healthy, Igor Chekov
- 20:39will be Power Play 1 for sure. So something to mention.
- 20:44But yeah, like would you rather them be healthy him play on a
- 20:47line with one of them even strength or like for China
- 20:51Cobbs, you know, next week prospects?
- 20:54Or is it better if they're not playing and he's on power play
- 20:59one? What do you think?
- 21:00This might be a tricky question, but first of all, people don't
- 21:03know that he showed the why. I think we mentioned it here and
- 21:06there, but it used to be Yegor Chinos, Igor Chikov and he's a
- 21:11whole different player now. First of all, yes, I honestly
- 21:15love when he's on power play one like we thought earlier when
- 21:18they had some injuries and him on power play one like there was
- 21:21a stretch every like .6 power play points per game, which is
- 21:23just insane right. We had the famous would you
- 21:27rather it was like Chinatown versus I forget who else, but we
- 21:30ended up going oh, it was Maverick Bork and we ended up
- 21:32going Bork because when she called lost the power play one,
- 21:35we didn't know how sustainable this production was going to be
- 21:37since large part of it was coming from the power play.
- 21:39If he has the power play 1, I think is a phenomenal, even more
- 21:43phenomenal asset because this shot volume, like you said,
- 21:45Jackie is through the roof like hovering around three shots a
- 21:48game. He doesn't hit, but he magically
- 21:50blocks like he's been averaging over a block a game for a
- 21:53forward over almost over the last like 2-3 weeks.
- 21:56So that's not not nothing, especially you're playing in
- 21:58those category leagues. I like him a lot.
- 22:00He's got three goals in his last four games as we speak like he's
- 22:03on fire. Without Crosby's obviously
- 22:06tough. Without milk, that's obviously
- 22:07tough. I think Malkin should come back.
- 22:09Crosby we're still like they skipped their practice on on
- 22:13Friday, so we're kind of waiting to see how everything shakes
- 22:16out. But I still want part of this
- 22:19Pittsburgh Penguins team. Like you're looking at Eric
- 22:21Carlson. This guy is like if you took
- 22:24only like the last month and a half of the season, like he'd be
- 22:26the front runner for the Norris. It's actually insane what he's
- 22:30doing. Is is is not humanly.
- 22:32He's so good. So it's just the thing with him
- 22:37and like, I don't want to get too off track with this, is that
- 22:39he's always insane. Yeah, when the timing is off.
- 22:44Like on San Jose, like he carried, like he was just by far
- 22:49the best defence from that year by like, I've never seen that
- 22:53type of discrepancy among a defensemen in that, that I could
- 22:56remember even being that dominant compared to the rest of
- 22:59the field. But like, it was San Jose, like
- 23:01they didn't have a chance to do anything that year.
- 23:03And then the last year with Pittsburgh, where it was deemed
- 23:06to be the last dance. Yeah.
- 23:07And now this is the last dance, you know, again, Part 2.
- 23:11Exactly. So I feel like it's just why
- 23:16can't you? Why can't they just all fire on
- 23:18all cylinders? Cuz Pittsburgh could be a real
- 23:20insane force. Anyway, Pittsburgh could be like
- 23:23a really serious playoff team. Absolutely.
- 23:25Now they have actually good goaltending and that Eric
- 23:29Carlson's like this. And if Crosby, Malcolm can stay
- 23:31healthy, this team could actually win A7 game series.
- 23:35We'll have to see how it shakes out.
- 23:36But yeah, China Cobb, I still like him a lot.
- 23:39I think for shots, he's one of the better names on this list.
- 23:41So like asterisks there being like, OK, monitor that.
- 23:45And if Crosby and Malkin are out, he's going to be on power
- 23:48play 1. So obviously monitor the lines
- 23:50as soon as one of them comes back.
- 23:52I think Mantha is going to keep the spot because he's just been
- 23:54the guy. It should be Chinaka.
- 23:56I think he'd be make more of the situation.
- 23:58But yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:01And I mean you, you we will talk a bit more about Mantha soon.
- 24:05But yes, Long story short, I think it's a really good option
- 24:09whether he Crosby or Malkin or there and he's power play one or
- 24:13not. Like I feel like it's either
- 24:15Wave is line 2, power play one. He's still belongs on this.
- 24:18Sorry if he's power play 2, he still belongs on this list.
- 24:21He deserves it. OK, let's go to the next one.
- 24:24All right #7. At #7 we have someone who I was
- 24:32very surprised was on this list last week.
- 24:33And then I was like, wow, I was the fan of Bangor Management,
- 24:36the fantasy hockey podcast. I'm gonna go pick him up.
- 24:38And then this person sitting right in front of me right now
- 24:40virtually did so instead. Did you put a bit?
- 24:45I did. I did put a bid in for him.
- 24:47Yeah. I wanted him over Tye Cartier
- 24:51so. So you killed those dreams, but.
- 24:56Did you even said her name? What Did you even say the name?
- 25:00Ohgi did not. Connor Brown of the New Jersey
- 25:02Devils. I was I was reliving because you
- 25:06snipe me on two players this week.
- 25:08I got Brown. I wanna meet him in the New York
- 25:10Rondell. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:12I wanted both those guys. And you know, at the end of the
- 25:15day, I feel like Brown has just gone so under the radar because
- 25:20his entire career he's kind of just been a decent additional
- 25:23player. But now with the opportunity
- 25:25that they're giving him, it's it's really great.
- 25:27He is lined to power play one, but that line 2 is not any worse
- 25:33than line 1, so. Realistically playing with
- 25:36probably issues and yes, better. And there's a reason why your
- 25:39brother is averaging almost 2 points per game over the last
- 25:43like few weeks. It's because of Connor Brown.
- 25:47I said no, I mean, uh, he's been the the whole devil's team as we
- 25:52were talking about is, is not like it's just been really good
- 25:55over their their past five games.
- 25:56So yeah, Browns, Browns and must pick up territory right now,
- 26:00which is crazy because he's 3% owned.
- 26:02The needle should have moved between last week and this week,
- 26:05but he's got another four-game week this coming week.
- 26:09So yeah, definitely like. It he's just not a category
- 26:11stuffer and our league is super deep, like just like nobody good
- 26:14on waivers pretty much, right? Like basically all the names
- 26:17we're talking about today, but he's on waivers except Marco
- 26:19Rossi. I streamed Connor Brown going
- 26:24into this semifinals matchup that we're currently in.
- 26:28He started off hot. He got a point in the first game
- 26:31and then last game he ended up getting, he ended up getting it
- 26:34was an assist and then they moved it to somebody else's
- 26:37goal. So he lost the assistant and he
- 26:38ended the game with an assistant.
- 26:39Like he's still involved. Like I just want to say like
- 26:41he's playing good minutes. He's on an exceptional line,
- 26:44arguably playing with the best talent on the team.
- 26:46He's still in power play one, which is like huge because it's
- 26:49very rare that you're able to pick up a guy that's like less
- 26:51than 5% owned playing on a great power place surrounded by great
- 26:54power play assets. So if, if you need to prioritize
- 26:58the power play, I would say like he's one of the guys on this
- 27:00list that I would like strongly consider.
- 27:03He doesn't have the most power play production, but just
- 27:06exposure to a New Jersey power play 1 is still elite.
- 27:11So I, I think he's a great option for that.
- 27:13We have to also temper your expectations if people are
- 27:16worried about the deployment changing.
- 27:17I feel you've been rolling with this like the last three weeks
- 27:19and it's been working like they've actually been
- 27:21successful. So I'd be shocked if they
- 27:22actually changed it, but obviously have to monitor the
- 27:24lines. I think it's just one of those
- 27:27guys that like, you know, he's 1 dimensional and that he'll get
- 27:29you points, PowerPoints, exposure, some shots, but you're
- 27:33not expecting like biggest category coverage.
- 27:35But you know, in a match up like this, you just need points like
- 27:38he's a name. Exactly.
- 27:41Yeah, I guess the only way to to, you know, summarize that is
- 27:45a lot of minutes on a team firing on all cylinders.
- 27:49He's bound to get in the way of something good, you know what I
- 27:52mean? That's the way it feels.
- 27:53But he's not doing those. He's not doing like Chinaka with
- 27:56all the shots and stuff like that, you know what I mean?
- 27:58That that's more reliable as a floor.
- 28:01But Browns just on a team fire on all cylinders, and he's doing
- 28:07good things. He's yeah he hovers around 2 of
- 28:10around 3 stuff you need shots at.
- 28:11Prioritize Chikov, but 2 is not bad.
- 28:15No, not at all. Not at all.
- 28:16Alright, let's move on to the next one.
- 28:18At #6. At #6 we have Anthony Mantha of
- 28:24the Pittsburgh Penguins line 2 power play one.
- 28:27As we mentioned when talking about Chekov, his deployment on
- 28:32power play 1 is safer. Whether Crosby or Malkin or both
- 28:36are back, Mantha still has a chance to stay there.
- 28:39Whereas I think with the two of them, Chino called won't be.
- 28:42But yeah, Samantha has been pretty solid all season.
- 28:47And his last four games have been bad.
- 28:51But before that, he was on fire. Like he had a stretch of like, I
- 28:53would say like 7 or 8 games in a row where he was like he scored
- 28:58in almost all of those games. He was producing.
- 29:01His shot volume was high. Now The thing is that deployment
- 29:04is still good and getting on power play one now that they
- 29:06have injuries, also great. But he's been kind of dry these
- 29:09last few days, days like 3 or 4 games, he's been not excellent,
- 29:14right? But the deployment is still
- 29:15there. So now it's like you're thinking
- 29:16about the question, OK, were there other pick up Echinococcus
- 29:19better informed with less good deployment or would I rather
- 29:22have manta with better deployment, more sustainable
- 29:24deployment? But he hasn't been as hot.
- 29:26So it's your championship finals.
- 29:28You got to make the decision. It feels like it's basically a
- 29:315050 decision. But to me, my process, how I
- 29:34work for fantasy hockey, I want to prioritize the guy that's
- 29:37going to be on the power play one because with what Eric
- 29:40Carlson is doing, with what Ricard Raquel is doing, like I
- 29:43just think I want potential exposure to that because the
- 29:46ceiling is so high. And that's what I would
- 29:48personally in Manta, but I completely understand people
- 29:51looking at the game log and being like, look at this guy's
- 29:52been so much better lately. I just gotta follow like the
- 29:55hotness and listen, there are only two spots apart on our
- 29:58list. So it basically feels like a
- 29:59coin flip on who's going to have a better week or not.
- 30:02But if like we had confirmation at Crosby was like missing the
- 30:05entire week or you know, something like that and we can
- 30:09pencil in China for power Play 1 consistently, I would
- 30:11confidently go there. But that's not the case.
- 30:13And we're playing with ambiguous information, and that's why I
- 30:15think Mantis ranked slightly higher.
- 30:18Yeah, I agree it's a process thing, but I I mean I I'm biased
- 30:23cause I have China code yeah I think I like China Qov better
- 30:26Fair enough. Like it is a coin for China
- 30:30called Brown and Mantha. I really feel like they're all
- 30:33in the same kind of bucket right now, but.
- 30:35And if Charles is going to be like a really close thing, like
- 30:38I'd prioritize Chikov because maybe you get less power play
- 30:42points, but that extra like shot to one point 1.2 shots, the game
- 30:47extra that Shanov gets over Manta could be a difference
- 30:50maker over 5 games, right? That's like a lot of volume
- 30:52there. Both are exceptional options
- 30:54because five games on a weekly district, the only thing that's
- 30:56five games are playing Monday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,
- 30:59Saturday, Sunday. So like, it's like doesn't get
- 31:01better than that this week. Yeah, yeah, well said.
- 31:05OK, let's go to the next one at. #5.
- 31:09At #5 we have Chris Kreider of the Anaheim Ducks.
- 31:15Before diving into the specifics, I don't believe you
- 31:19were there this episode. I think it was a few weeks ago
- 31:21where Josh and I were talking about alliteration.
- 31:23Alliteration. And like I said, Charlie Coyle.
- 31:25I was Josh said you were there for that.
- 31:28OK, Charlie Coyle, Charlie Choil.
- 31:30And I feel like I feel like this is an interesting one with Chris
- 31:34Cryder. It's AC and then a cave, but
- 31:36it's the same, you know, Yeah, sounds like it's this
- 31:38alliteration now, even though it's not.
- 31:40It is or yeah it. Is somebody in the discord?
- 31:43I'm forgetting the names, so I really apologize, but you know
- 31:45who you are. But they basically said that
- 31:48their sister was like an English major or something like that,
- 31:52and that she confirmed that both our alliterations like the
- 31:55letters and also like phonetically.
- 31:57If it sounds the same, it's also in the literation.
- 32:00Maybe I just push it. I just lied on the podcast for
- 32:03hundreds of people to see, but I I'm pretty sure that's what it
- 32:06was. Yeah.
- 32:08So we could still call him an alliteration king.
- 32:12Bangor management, the linguistic podcast, There you
- 32:15go. But yeah, I think, I don't know.
- 32:20Anyway, I, I guess we can't expand on the on this more, but
- 32:22but if, if someone, I mean, honestly, the people have given
- 32:26us the explanation, I feel like we're still not getting it.
- 32:28So just all I could do was apologize.
- 32:31But yeah, Chris Cryder, maybe the alliteration king of the
- 32:34Anaheim Ducks. He has been so, so good in this
- 32:38past few games. His power play points there, his
- 32:43shots are there. He's also got four games this
- 32:46upcoming week, which is nice. And yeah, I mean, you know, what
- 32:52I really kind of like about the background sort of process on
- 32:55this is that this is a player who they brought in as a veteran
- 32:58presence on a Ducks team that I think was ahead of schedule.
- 33:01I mean, I remember saying that. There's.
- 33:04Yeah, but I thought the Hobbs, like, I mean, I was I think the
- 33:08highest on the dark side of all of us.
- 33:09You were. And I still thought that the the
- 33:11Ducks were like one year behind the Hobbs and I'll just feels
- 33:14like they're on the same level. They've really made like amazing
- 33:17strides. So I think he's gonna be a very
- 33:19important part of this team for the next few weeks and I think
- 33:23he can really go off as he has been over the past few games.
- 33:26Like, I don't know if you listened to episodes you missed,
- 33:29but we got a question on our last mailbag episode where
- 33:32somebody asked us to pick like do a snake draft of who we think
- 33:35is going to win each division or conference.
- 33:39And I ended up going with Colorado.
- 33:41And then since I picked Colorado, Josh picked Dallas.
- 33:45And then we had to we, we pretended to pick 4 you and who
- 33:47you would think would win the West.
- 33:49And we, we went for Anaheim for you because we're like, Jackie
- 33:54loves Anaheim. He always talks about Anaheim
- 33:55so. You mean the West or the
- 33:58Pacific? I mean, it was the conference.
- 34:00It was like, who? Who's going to come out of the
- 34:03West? But you can't pick all run.
- 34:04You can't pick Dallas. No, I mean, I got I, I have to
- 34:08pick Minnesota. That well, I think that it was
- 34:10more than one thing like because I know how much you love them,
- 34:12but. Firmly believe that the Ducks
- 34:15are gonna win the Pacific and I know that that's like not much
- 34:19of A hot take because they have a sizable AKA 5 point lead which
- 34:23I feel like this is just the closest the standings have been.
- 34:25In here it is. It is.
- 34:27Yeah, but anyway, like I like the ducks and yeah, fairpoint
- 34:32all. This to say, what I will say on
- 34:34Chris Crowder before we move on, though, is like he's been close
- 34:36to averaging one point per game over the last month, which is
- 34:40really, really impressive. He's like, you know, getting
- 34:43into form. The perfect time for everybody's
- 34:45fantasy playoffs. Hello there.
- 34:46You keep saying that. Now what that that's just how I
- 34:48talk. OK, I I have the sports lingo,
- 34:51alright. Yeah, but to me, I feel like
- 34:55I've been like down grading him a little bit in my mind because
- 34:57the points have been coming in bunches.
- 34:59It's like 4 point game here, 0.0.0.2 point game, zero points,
- 35:032 point game. So it's like you're either
- 35:06getting zeros or getting exceptional game.
- 35:08The deployment is still solid. He's like you could consider him
- 35:11a power play specialist with like what he does in front of
- 35:13the net and and Anaheim, the most important thing to mention
- 35:17about them this week is that they have arguably the best
- 35:20playoff schedule this upcoming week minus, you know, the
- 35:23Penguins. But and I'm and I'm has four
- 35:25games this week and three of them are on off nights.
- 35:27So that means they're super easy to to to put in your lineup and
- 35:32if your lineups already Max out on the heavy days like these
- 35:34Anaheim players are going to slot in and just add pure volume
- 35:37to your lineup. So like there were there were
- 35:40some leagues where I'm getting ready to have a bye week this
- 35:43week and going into next week, like made the tough decision.
- 35:45Like I cut like Zach Hyman, who I know, like I was probably not
- 35:50going to start in this next week for like a Crider or somebody
- 35:55else we're gonna mention like a Seneca or like a grand because
- 35:57that just adds four games to my to my lineup or three games to
- 36:00my lineup. Yeah, and the volume is just
- 36:02massive at that point. Plus the guys informed, right.
- 36:04So if you have the option to pick up, I think it's a great
- 36:07option this upcoming week. Even though I feel like a
- 36:10discord, my sentiment around them has been like people are
- 36:12giving me like start bench one out of these four guys and it's
- 36:15like 4 studs on. It's like you gotta bench Crider
- 36:17this week. But yeah, yeah, doesn't feel
- 36:20good. Yeah, that's it.
- 36:21That's it. And I guess the only thing I can
- 36:23add there, Anaheim Ducks are playing not the strongest
- 36:28opponents next week. They're playing Toronto, San
- 36:30Jose, Saint Louis and Calgary, and for context, San Jose and
- 36:36Toronto. Two other those games have the
- 36:38second and third worst goals against per game.
- 36:41Which season? They could realistically win all
- 36:43four games. I would probably say they win at
- 36:45least two of them, Probably three, yeah.
- 36:47So. Yeah.
- 36:48And they they get like demolish the other teams and yeah, I
- 36:52mean, even San Jose is kind of not been as good as they have
- 36:56been all season. So I really think that yeah,
- 37:00celebrating don't talk about Jake is never wrong.
- 37:03Just early. My whole thing was like how
- 37:04could he keep this up? Like you got bet on generational
- 37:07and then he just as soon as the playoff starters like whoa, how
- 37:11do you hockey again like they. Slowed down tremendously.
- 37:14It's very sad. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:16They've lost their last six games.
- 37:17So I mean, like, that was their only four.
- 37:20That was Anaheim's only formidable appoint opponent this
- 37:22coming week. And yeah, I think, I think
- 37:26that's why. They're far.
- 37:27From Formidable pick exactly. All right, let's go to the next
- 37:31one at. #4. At #4 we have one of the people
- 37:37we thought had a chance to win the Calder Trophy.
- 37:40Doesn't look like it's gonna happen, but he's been very solid
- 37:42nonetheless. Of the Saint Louis Blues, Jimmy
- 37:44Snuggerud, who has been insane for shots.
- 37:48I feel like he's a, he's kind of like a mini cutter goatee.
- 37:51That's the way I see snugride. And then we got four games, two
- 37:55of the off night ones, right? So, so that's really good.
- 37:58I think that this is simply the process is there.
- 38:02He's also on line 1 power play one his minutes have been very
- 38:08good and just like I mean, if you look at the shots on goal, I
- 38:10just cannot believe I dropped this guy no.
- 38:12So the the main thing would snug.
- 38:14Don't forget he's got four games this week.
- 38:16Obviously like everybody else on this list besides the Pittsburgh
- 38:18guys. But they also play on the off
- 38:21nights like Saint Louis plays on Monday, on Wednesday, on Friday
- 38:25and on Sunday. They have the best schedule for
- 38:29off nights. They don't play on any of the
- 38:30heavy nights, which is blasphemous, but for fantasy.
- 38:35That's a good. Way for fantasy.
- 38:36We love it exactly so like all the other Blues players that we
- 38:39aren't naming because they're over 40% so like that Dylan
- 38:41Holloways, like the Robert Thomas we're dropping some
- 38:44leagues like when he's healthy, like these guys are going to be
- 38:47exceptional players this upcoming week and there's very
- 38:50little to hate what's not over the last month he's at a point
- 38:52per game like that's nuts. And this guy is currently 24%
- 38:56owned, so widely available 3. He's averaging three shots a
- 39:00game. Excellent point per game.
- 39:03The bad thing with snug though, is that that power play is kind
- 39:06of a dollar sign dollar sign poop.
- 39:08So so you're not you're not betting on the power play
- 39:15production like it's a bottom 4 power play and you can see it in
- 39:17the statistics. So, but the production is still
- 39:20there. He's got great deployment, great
- 39:22minutes, great shot volume. Like very little to hate.
- 39:24I would love to have a Blues player snug rug specifically on
- 39:28my Ross this upcoming week. I do not.
- 39:30So I am sad. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Well said.
- 39:35Look, as it stands right now, he's actually Power Play 2.
- 39:38I just kind of. Want to point St.
- 39:40Louis with the power plays are always a little janky so.
- 39:42Yeah, I guess it's like, yeah, don't read too much into it if
- 39:46you see him. It's really kind of all over the
- 39:49place with that. And, you know, is Saint Louis
- 39:52totally out of the playoff? Picture, they're totally out of
- 39:54the playoff picture. They're not making the playoffs.
- 39:56I mean, are they? The thing is they're gonna try
- 39:59to make the playoffs because they're not punting like some
- 40:01other teams, but they're the second worst team in the
- 40:04Central, although it is still competitive.
- 40:07Like technically it's still an option, but I'm not betting on.
- 40:1177 points there in the last wild card spot, 7 They have a game in
- 40:15hand on Saint Louis, who has 71. That's a six point difference,
- 40:19yeah. There's less than 10 games, so
- 40:21that means they have that means. 1111 to be exact.
- 40:24But yes, it's still, I mean, I don't think that it's.
- 40:30Basically win out and they'd have they need the teams ahead
- 40:33of them to lose half their games, which they're just.
- 40:36They're just not in like total, like let's go out there and have
- 40:40fun. Mode.
- 40:41No, they're still trying to win games.
- 40:42They're still competing, which is fun exactly for fantasies,
- 40:45severely because it means the guys are still like producing.
- 40:48But yeah, I'm not getting my house.
- 40:50I'm making the playoffs. That's.
- 40:51For sure. No, no, no, that's not the
- 40:53point. It's just more like they have
- 40:54something to play for. It's like, you know, in Harry
- 40:57Potter. It's have anything to play for,
- 40:59but they are playing like they do have fighting for, yeah.
- 41:01Yeah, well said. Alright, let's move on to the
- 41:06next one at. #3. At #3 we have Patrick Kane of
- 41:12the Detroit Red Wings line 2, power play 1.
- 41:17I picked him up. He's been very solid for me.
- 41:21I think that I think that what's going on right now is Kane
- 41:25realizes, you know, he doesn't have many more years left in his
- 41:27career and he's on a team that that had it and that lost it.
- 41:32Realistically, like they're they're out of the playoff
- 41:35picture right now, which is wild, but there's there's a
- 41:37wagon. They're they're right there like
- 41:39they're for the playoffs. They're they're more of a chance
- 41:42to make it the same than Saint Louis.
- 41:43Yes, but all of this to say, I think that what's happening is
- 41:48that he's like, OK, I need to make sure that this team that
- 41:51I'm playing on makes the playoffs.
- 41:52I feel like he's really going all out and they're keeping him
- 41:55on power play one, which thank God, cuz that was that was
- 41:59annoying to deal with. So hopefully that there's no
- 42:03funny business there before games this upcoming week.
- 42:05The way his short volume has been there, his production
- 42:07recently, I think he's a tremendous pickup.
- 42:09Yep, I arguably personally would have probably put Snuggerud
- 42:13ahead of him just because of all the extra off nights and but
- 42:17you're missing out on the power play production.
- 42:19So but the schedule this upcoming weekly, the heavy
- 42:21nights are super heavy. So getting like those off nights
- 42:24to me is very valuable. But with Kane like over the last
- 42:28two weeks, is that a point per game over the last month?
- 42:30Is that like .86 point 87 around there?
- 42:33And like a lot of guys we've mentioned on this list already
- 42:35hovering around three shots game with some decent power play,
- 42:38like Detroit has an excellent power play.
- 42:40They've consistently been top five this whole season.
- 42:42Now they've had some injuries and some slumps like Larkin just
- 42:45is coming back. So that helps a lot.
- 42:49But Kane, like when he he was like a drop like last month
- 42:53because he got bumped off the deployment.
- 42:54He was like line 3 power play 2 at some point that was
- 42:57disastrous for his value. But now he's back on power play
- 43:00one, which is the main thing and in the top six.
- 43:02That's important. So great option.
- 43:05Yep. Yeah, well said.
- 43:06OK, let's go to the next one at. Number.
- 43:09Two number. 2. The best number we have make
- 43:14Kale Grantland of the Anaheim Ducks Line 2 power play, one
- 43:19with four games this coming week.
- 43:21He has really been very, very good, Very good.
- 43:26So, yeah, I mean, I think that, like, you know, we've talked
- 43:29about this with Crowder before. We kind of gave the overview on
- 43:31Anaheim. I guess the only scary thing
- 43:33with Grantland is that during his insane stretch recently,
- 43:35it's all goals different. Last four games, one goal, one
- 43:40goal, two goals and then a hatrick.
- 43:42Yeah, I mean, but what I like is that he's shooting.
- 43:44And if you are in a league with face offs, with the triple
- 43:47eligibility getting this volume, I love that.
- 43:51And even if you're not in a face off league, over two shots on
- 43:55goal per game with one goal per game over the past two weeks,
- 43:59that's really. Great.
- 44:00Like we mentioned with Crowder earlier, Anaheim has a great
- 44:03schedule because of the offline that they do have.
- 44:05And I mean, listen, ground can be kind of scary for some
- 44:08people. Was coming back from his injury
- 44:10that was like the post Olympic break.
- 44:12He was dry AF for like 2 weeks and then all his production came
- 44:17from these last four games and it doesn't get any better than
- 44:20this. I think he has the best like,
- 44:22you know, shot to goal conversion rate in the last four
- 44:26games or last week or so because nobody scored more goals than
- 44:30him. He's got insane amounts of
- 44:31goals. So does he keep this up?
- 44:35I don't think so. Like I'm definitely not betting
- 44:37my house on it um that he's going to keep scoring every game
- 44:40like he's been doing recently, but that doesn't mean he won't
- 44:43be getting some assistance. Instead.
- 44:44I just think Anaheim is really flowing right now and he's like
- 44:47honestly like a pretty important part of like the team success.
- 44:49Like we saw when he came back from injury.
- 44:52We definitely saw Anaheim get better as a team.
- 44:54He was he was a captain for his international team, like, you
- 44:57know, on Finland, they had Rantanen and some other guys and
- 45:01they were like Michael Grand is our captain, right?
- 45:03So I think he just he holds some responsibility and he holds some
- 45:06like authority in the dressing room.
- 45:08And I think that's important for team that's pushing for the
- 45:10playoffs and for fantasy. I think it's it's great.
- 45:13Do I expect him to score every game?
- 45:14No. So, you know, add him temporary
- 45:17expectations, but I still think he's a shoe in for points on a
- 45:21four-game week with off nights. Like it's hard to get a better a
- 45:23better option. Yeah, agreed.
- 45:25I don't expect them to score every game, but I also expect
- 45:28them to get an assist here and there, which he doesn't, you
- 45:30know what I mean? Yeah.
- 45:31So it's like it's one of those that I think that he will
- 45:34produce, especially given their opponents.
- 45:37All right, and last but not least at.
- 45:41Number one. At #1 we have Pavel Zacha of the
- 45:47Alliteration Kings of the NHL Boston Bruins.
- 45:52That one I know is right. So I just wanted to make sure
- 45:55that victory alright. He has been also really good.
- 46:00He he led the charge in us having a solid chance of
- 46:04doubling our wins to losses record this year.
- 46:06So I think we owed him the respect to put him there.
- 46:10He he's got four games this coming week.
- 46:12Boston had a great playoff schedule and he showed up big
- 46:15for them. I have accepted the reality that
- 46:17they're that they're likely going to make the playoffs,
- 46:21which I was totally not a believer of your many, many
- 46:27moons. But yeah, no, he's just done
- 46:29really well with his deployment. And I think that there's hello
- 46:32hello for those all watching on YouTube.
- 46:36Kevin's cat just walked. In front so her feet are just so
- 46:38she was sleeping next to me. Now she's hungry, funny, but
- 46:44yeah, it's a it's a nice mix of shots and hits.
- 46:46So there is sustainability there.
- 46:48He's not a category stuffer, but there are those games where he
- 46:51has like 3 to four shots or hits or both a game.
- 46:54That game, two goals, one PowerPoint, four shots, four
- 46:57hits and seven face off weeks. If you put 7 faceoff wins.
- 47:00If you play with that, amazing. All this to say, he's
- 47:03consistent, yet also has those games where he goes off.
- 47:07That's just kind of been it recently, so I love.
- 47:09It he's been one of the better players for Boston recently, all
- 47:12spurring from the conversation where I put the would you rather
- 47:15Osaka versus Lindholm rest of season going into the playoffs.
- 47:18And I was firmly on the Zaka side for everybody that was
- 47:21listening. They know I was there.
- 47:24But yeah, he's just been really great.
- 47:25Boston has four games this week. No, they only got 1 off night on
- 47:29the Sunday. So it's not a, you know,
- 47:31schedule optimizer type of ad, but he's just been so consistent
- 47:34on a great power play playing with, you know, on a play with
- 47:36pastrnak. It's just it's hard to, you
- 47:39know, be exposed to better players and so that's why I
- 47:42think it makes has such a great option.
- 47:44No, absolutely. OK.
- 47:47That is our top ten points, guys, under 40% owned.
- 47:51Let's move on to our top five bangers.
- 47:53Apache here. It's under 20% owned.
- 47:56Under 20%, definitely prioritizing his, but the guys
- 47:59that can do hits, blocks and shots are definitely more
- 48:02valuable. Let's I'll write it off the five
- 48:04names in order from 5:00 to 1:00 and then we can kind of talk
- 48:07about them a little bit. But all of these guys also have
- 48:09four games except one, obviously going to Pittsburgh guy on here,
- 48:12and that guy's got five name 5 the game.
- 48:15So should I just go through? Them let's do.
- 48:17It alright at #5. We got Ben Sharat of the Detroit
- 48:20Red Wings #4 we got Tight Cartier #3 Brendan Dillon #2
- 48:26Jordan Stall, who almost ended my season last week, and #1
- 48:31Connor Clifton of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
- 48:34So listen, I think we named all these guys and all of them
- 48:37averaged over two hits a game, which first of all you love to
- 48:40see. All of them got four games
- 48:42except Cliftons. Cliftons got five games.
- 48:44I think that's why at #1 what do you, how do you feel?
- 48:48So Sharad, unlike Josh's wife, I don't feel any sort of special
- 48:53way. The the only the the main
- 48:57special thing about him is that he's average.
- 49:00He's the only guy on this list on average is 2 two hits and two
- 49:03blocks like that double double for defenseman is valuable.
- 49:05The fact that he's so handsome and you know, the major crush of
- 49:08Joshua's wife is just an extra bonus.
- 49:11She is correct. He is a handsome dude, and he's
- 49:15got that like, you know, shouldn't squat.
- 49:19I was gonna say that, like, come home for the holidays and, you
- 49:23know, meet his high school sweetheart and teach her the
- 49:26meaning of Christmas vibe, you know?
- 49:27Like it wasn't a hockey player he'd be making Hallmark movies.
- 49:29As what? Exactly it.
- 49:33Alright, so that's not on Sharat Cartier.
- 49:37Cartier, based on how insane and dominance he's been in both
- 49:42shots and hits recently, does not know the meaning of
- 49:44Christmas at all. He's just been going off, you
- 49:48know, like this week, eight hits and seven hits in.
- 49:52Consecutive games, yeah. Nuts nuts.
- 49:55He's literally, if I like he has weight, OK, yeah, not exactly
- 50:01half, but he has over a third of my entire teams hits this.
- 50:05Week and two games. This Yeah, Yeah.
- 50:09So it's it's crazy. He's been awesome.
- 50:11And the shots are there too. I actually like his opportunity.
- 50:14Like to be honest, even apart from just hits playing with JT
- 50:16Miller, I know that. Not that JT is good, but this is
- 50:21better linemate wise than you have for anyone else on this
- 50:26list. Though is that like he used to
- 50:29be just kind of like pure hits guy, but he's slowly growing his
- 50:32game to touch more of like the shots and, and the blocks here
- 50:36and there. And he's he's better exposed to
- 50:39points. He's in the best point situation
- 50:41that he'll be because he's playing on quote UN quote, line
- 50:433 or line 2 or whatever you want to call it with JT Miller, who
- 50:46you know, like what you, however you feel about JT Miller, like
- 50:49he's still one of the premier players on this Rangers team.
- 50:51So if you're playing online with him, you're going to get decent
- 50:53minutes. And we've seen his minutes grow
- 50:55slowly from like your average 11 minutes tonight.
- 50:57And now he's averaging like maybe like 16 minutes a night
- 50:59just because he's playing with that deployment.
- 51:02So but mainly hits. This is the guy that you would
- 51:05probably want to go home because the ceiling is just so high.
- 51:08Yeah, exactly. OK, Brendan Dillon, very, very
- 51:12solid with the hits and blocks. You just can't deny it.
- 51:16And yeah, I mean that that's it though.
- 51:19You're not getting like any reliability as far as shots and
- 51:22certainly no points. As I said that I'm sure he's
- 51:24gonna have a career week in points and just get 2 points per
- 51:28game. I would say I honestly prefer
- 51:32Sharat over Dylan. I just basically see Dylan as
- 51:36slightly worse than Sharat, like slightly worse in blocks.
- 51:40Like trouble get 2 Dillons at 1.3.
- 51:43Dylan will get more hits. He's more like 2.5 restaurants
- 51:46more around 2 again. But then she will get you the
- 51:48extra shot a game as well. So it's kind of just like
- 51:50averaging out. She'll plays more minutes as
- 51:52well, so more confident in that. Like, he can, you know, hit more
- 51:54categories, but he's just like same kind of boat where you want
- 51:58to stream a guy for hits and blocks and you need a despot.
- 52:00This is a guy you want to add for games this week.
- 52:03Yeah, exactly. Jordan stall, Jordan stall.
- 52:07He he almost ended the season last week.
- 52:10He did. And he, I mean, like, don't
- 52:13forget, he like unlike everyone else on this list, he actually
- 52:17has it in his arsenal to be a solid, well-rounded player with
- 52:22points potential. Like if anyone, I mean, Karchi
- 52:24also, you know, has been decent for points.
- 52:26But as far as reliability goes, he's got three points in his
- 52:30last four games. Jordan Stall in a phased off
- 52:33league faceoff win league. He's actually tremendous.
- 52:36And but yeah, he's really he's here for the hits.
- 52:39And those hits have been very solid lately.
- 52:41In the last five games he has four hits and four of those five
- 52:44games in the game that he didn't get four hits, he got three
- 52:46hits. So like the hit level has been
- 52:48really high. He got his first short handed
- 52:51point of the season since last week to almost end my season and
- 52:54then he matched the game after he got a power play point.
- 52:57So power play goal, so like Jordan Stall, he can do it all,
- 53:02but not not not mostly for the shots, but if you're getting
- 53:05like face off wins hits and some good some good exposure for the
- 53:09points as well. Like in terms of banger guys
- 53:12like he's a really good, good option.
- 53:13He's only 9% on as well. So there's like a deeply cut
- 53:16right there. Yeah, all these guys pretty much
- 53:19I feel like are, are, are any of them over, you know?
- 53:23They're all like 20%. Less than 20, yeah, but I feel
- 53:26like most are like really, really not.
- 53:29I mean, barely the charges 12% own and he's up 10% on the on
- 53:35the week, you know what I mean? So these are these are deep cuts
- 53:38and it's really just because of the because of the schedule and
- 53:41the amount of games and volume for this category is huge.
- 53:44So that's why at #1 with Connor Clifton, it makes sense.
- 53:47He's the guy with the five games.
- 53:49And I mean in those five games he could get you 20 hits.
- 53:53I wouldn't be surprised. Yeah, the more probably like
- 53:56he's averaging four hits a game, but significantly, like
- 54:00oftentimes he's getting like 7-8.
- 54:02So yeah, he can do it. You wish the blocks were a
- 54:06little higher. And also the main thing with
- 54:07Connor Clifton is that people are worried that he gets
- 54:09scratched because he's gotten scratched in the past.
- 54:11And like when getting scratched for one game is honestly
- 54:13detrimental. You do not want to pick up a
- 54:14guy, get scratched for a game. But Pittsburgh keeps getting
- 54:18injuries, especially on the back line.
- 54:19So he keeps like not cementing his spot in the lineup, but also
- 54:24like they love his physicality. Last, I think it was like 2
- 54:27weeks ago, he like fought for the team when I forget who got
- 54:31hurt, but like you went after them and like be like, like
- 54:34defended the team. And people love the fact that he
- 54:36was able to be that guy for, for the Penguins because you know,
- 54:39during this playoff push too. And we always talk about playoff
- 54:41hockey and how you need the guys that like, you know, you don't
- 54:43want to mess around with. So he's that type of player.
- 54:46I think that just cements his role in the lineup.
- 54:47But when he's in his role as cemented, that means less chance
- 54:50of getting scratched and then more chances of him getting 25
- 54:53hits for you and your championship matchup.
- 54:56Yep. Yeah, well said.
- 54:57OK, let's move on to the top three quantity goalies.
- 55:01These are guys that are gonna get 2 plus starts under 40%
- 55:05owned. I'll list these off at three.
- 55:07We have Freddie Anderson and #2 of Connor Ingram and at #1 I
- 55:11think by mile Dobesh. Yeah.
- 55:15And this is not being a Homer, but he has been crazy lately.
- 55:19I guess we'll start at #3 because there's a lot of
- 55:21enthusiasm for rubbish right now.
- 55:22Yeah. So yeah, Freddie has regrettably
- 55:27seemed to. Really hurt.
- 55:29Out of nowhere. What?
- 55:31Yeah, he's kind of been pulling away with the better starts.
- 55:34Yeah, I don't really get it. I mean, like what happened?
- 55:37The chronology is Brandon Bossy plays super well, exceeds all
- 55:42sorts of expectations. The Olympic break happens.
- 55:45They give him what seemed like a quite the lowball contract, like
- 55:48$2,000,000 a year. And they were like, on top of
- 55:50that, we're just gonna stop playing you and you're gonna
- 55:52lose. Yeah.
- 55:54Hey, I don't understand. You don't like generation games.
- 55:57Exactly, Exactly. Like, I don't know what the
- 56:02sequences there and why this manifested the way it did, but I
- 56:06mean, yeah, Busy has just gotten like less than the 50 fifties
- 56:10were before when he was getting all of the games in sequence
- 56:13other than back to backs. He was winning every single
- 56:17game. So this is just ridiculous.
- 56:19Another question mark in Rod's way of handling things, I
- 56:24suppose. But yeah, Anderson has been has
- 56:27been good and Caroline is a good team actually, you know, scratch
- 56:30that. He has not been good.
- 56:31He's been very not good yet. He will get the volume.
- 56:35And because it's Carolina, they could win versus any team.
- 56:38That's that's my way of looking. At it that's that's the main
- 56:41thing right here, right. We're looking at guys that are
- 56:43less than 40% owned. You guys are in your
- 56:45championships or your semifinals of your leagues.
- 56:48And sometimes you just need a guy is going to get you starts.
- 56:50And I think Carolina is a team that, you know, is dominant.
- 56:54Like they're gonna go into most games being competitive.
- 56:57You're never gonna be like, this is gonna be a blowout.
- 56:59They do have some hard matches. I think Columbus is a team
- 57:01that's on fire right now. And then, you know, the Island
- 57:04is in Ottawa, both our teams that are fighting for the
- 57:05playoffs. So they give it their all.
- 57:07But I think, you know, Anderson could realistically get three of
- 57:09these stars potentially. I would say he gets at least
- 57:11two. And you're gonna have like a
- 57:135050 chance to win most of those games.
- 57:15It feels like that's number three and not higher on the
- 57:18list. But in terms of like being able
- 57:19to pick up a starter like doesn't, you don't always have
- 57:22the option so. Yeah.
- 57:24And like, just as an example, Anderson played the Habs.
- 57:29They lost 521 of them, was an empty net goal.
- 57:32He lived four goals on 18 shots. And then we'll talk about how
- 57:36great Dobesh was that game momentarily.
- 57:38But all this to say, like, yeah, Carolina had more than double
- 57:41the shots and the Habs did. And that, you know, losing a
- 57:44game like that is not going to happen all the time.
- 57:46All this to say, Carolina is good and can compete against
- 57:49anyone. So yeah, we get it.
- 57:51All right, Let's move on to Connor Ingram.
- 57:53Ingram has been also bad. This is kind of the same way.
- 57:58I see this as the situation Carolina without the evil
- 58:04character arc of Rod Brindamour just destroying Brandon Bussey
- 58:07and all his fantasy owners dreams.
- 58:09But yeah, this is like another guy with a sub 900 save
- 58:12percentage. Although as we discussed, the
- 58:14save percentage is not that high in the league overall.
- 58:17But in a deep league, for instance, where good goalie cats
- 58:21are rewarded, I still felt confident dropping him when he
- 58:25didn't have, you know, the like, when there were better options
- 58:29on. All this to say, they're playing
- 58:31Seattle, Chicago, Vegas. Vegas has been horrible
- 58:35recently, Seattle hasn't hasn't been great and Chicago is never
- 58:39a team that you're intimidated by.
- 58:40So I think the matchups honestly easy.
- 58:42I'm not saying easy, but they could realistically win all
- 58:46three games that I wouldn't be surprised type of thing.
- 58:48But it still Connor Ingram, I think you're gonna basically
- 58:50expecting around a 900%. You could get games that he's,
- 58:53you know, drops in 860, but they win.
- 58:54You could get games where he drops on 940 and they win or
- 58:57lose. So you really don't know, but
- 59:00still Edmonton team that is still trying to win teams
- 59:02currently and he was cemented as the starter.
- 59:05The team is going to go with him playing these games and you're
- 59:08able to pick him up. I I think there's worse things
- 59:10you can do in picking up the Edmonton Stardust named Tristan
- 59:13Jarry, so. Yeah, no, you're definitely also
- 59:15correct about Vegas not being good, and that's been something
- 59:19to see. Chicago, on the other hand, I
- 59:21actually thought was better than they were because Bedard has
- 59:25been so good. And, well, anyway, all this to
- 59:28say, yeah, they could win and they need to win.
- 59:32I think he's going to get at least two of the games plays on
- 59:34this list, but. No, he could.
- 59:35He could even get all three technically so.
- 59:38Yeah, yeah, he could. All right.
- 59:40And then I mean, Dobesh, Dobesh should not be under 40% on.
- 59:43He's got 39 as we speak. So even by the time you're
- 59:46listening to this, he may be over the edge, but still
- 59:48possibly available in your league.
- 59:50He's been crazy. That Carolina game that I
- 59:52mentioned where Anderson let in four goals on 18 shots, he saved
- 59:5641 of 43, letting in only two goals.
- 59:59And then the next game, he came back two days later.
- 1:00:02So it wasn't a back-to-back, but.
- 1:00:04You know, still, like, I don't think I'll get the back-to-back,
- 1:00:06but he's gonna get the majority of, you know, all these.
- 1:00:08I wouldn't be surprised if he gets three games this coming
- 1:00:10week. He saved 25 on 26 against a red
- 1:00:13hot Columbus. Team yeah, he he was the reason
- 1:00:15why Columbus, you know, lost that game.
- 1:00:18And Columbus is a team has been on fire.
- 1:00:19They've been extremely hard to stop.
- 1:00:22So the fact that the best played so well, like he's if he's
- 1:00:25available on your waves and you need a goalie, like he's a
- 1:00:26priority pickup. I'm using #1 waiver priority.
- 1:00:29I'm dropping a lot of my fab. It's go time right now.
- 1:00:32Like just put it all on Dobesh. And he, he seems like the guy
- 1:00:36that's going to be delivering run right.
- 1:00:38And like these this week are not easy, but still like the Habs
- 1:00:41are such a good team. They're still fighting for a
- 1:00:44playoff position, right? Like there's really not a
- 1:00:46realistic chance. But like they're not cemented,
- 1:00:48right? Like if they lose too many
- 1:00:49games, like they could realistically miss the playoffs.
- 1:00:51So they're in win now mode to get a ride with the giving them
- 1:00:54the wins. And Dobesh is just like he's
- 1:00:56been incredible. It's hard to find a better
- 1:00:59goalie that's this widely available.
- 1:01:02I, I there's nothing bad to say about him.
- 1:01:05The only other person I'm gonna mention is because he's been on
- 1:01:07this list for the past few weeks.
- 1:01:09Joel Hofer has been nuts too. Absolutely crazy.
- 1:01:14He's at 44% owned. Would you rather Dobesh or
- 1:01:19Hoefer this coming? Week Dobesh and because mostly
- 1:01:22Binnington has also kind of had a couple games that have been
- 1:01:25solid, so I could see them kind of like alternating a little
- 1:01:28bit. Whereas Dobesh, I know that like
- 1:01:30Follow is going to get the back-to-back and Dobesh is gonna
- 1:01:32get every other start because he's the guy that's giving wins
- 1:01:34for the hubs. Fair enough, Fair enough.
- 1:01:36OK, And the top three quality goalies we have Jacob Fowler,
- 1:01:42Archer Sheloves and Villi Whoso Sheloves.
- 1:01:48OK, we'll start with the third one.
- 1:01:50Fowler is going to get either the New Jersey Devils or the New
- 1:01:53Jersey Devils. Yeah.
- 1:01:58Yeah. And Fowler.
- 1:01:59Fowler is a decent goalie in his own right.
- 1:02:01It's just that it's just the Dublish has been so monstrous
- 1:02:05that I think that that one beat reporter who said that Fowler
- 1:02:08will absolutely be the Hab starting goalie in the playoffs.
- 1:02:11Nope. No, that's not good.
- 1:02:13That's not going to be the case. But yeah, they could.
- 1:02:16Even though New Jersey's been trying their best.
- 1:02:20Hobbs are also. They need a win.
- 1:02:23In these are like Jackie said, the quality starts, so spot
- 1:02:26starts and I think, you know, a Habs team that is trying to win
- 1:02:28games versus the Devils team that is kind of out of the
- 1:02:30playoff picture but has still been hot.
- 1:02:31The matchup is really good. Yeah, Archers, Sheloves.
- 1:02:35Then also, you know, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh really kind of been a
- 1:02:41bit of a mess. They're they're pulling out
- 1:02:44wins. They are, but it's it's a real
- 1:02:47tough one. And their schedule is
- 1:02:50essentially Islanders, Detroit and then Florida Panthers
- 1:02:53back-to-back. Interesting.
- 1:02:54You got a few teams playing each other back-to-back this week.
- 1:02:57But yeah, I mean, I don't like this one at all.
- 1:03:01Not that I don't like, I mean, I understand why he's here, but I
- 1:03:07feel the same way about Skinner as I do about Sheila's.
- 1:03:09Like, I just don't trust Pittsburgh goaltending, right?
- 1:03:11Now, how about you? I mean, to me, it's just like,
- 1:03:13if you need to stream for one game, you definitely want one of
- 1:03:16those Florida games in the back-to-back because Florida
- 1:03:18just keeps like crossing guys off their lineup.
- 1:03:20Like just this morning they crossed off Sam Bennett like
- 1:03:23he's not going to be playing the Saturday game.
- 1:03:26So yeah, I got that started notification coming while
- 1:03:31recording and he's on his fantasy team.
- 1:03:33So we people were worried about this with Sam Bennett, the fact
- 1:03:37that like, you know, Florida could just shut down guys at any
- 1:03:39moment and for no good reason. So Sam Ben is the next one to
- 1:03:43hit, hit the shelf or bite the dust or whatever you want to
- 1:03:46say. So I just think that just makes
- 1:03:48Florida both Florida matchups, no matter which one he plays on
- 1:03:51the Saturday or Sunday. Like I would stream of
- 1:03:53Pittsburgh goalie against them. Just make sure, you know, keep
- 1:03:55track of who's playing which game because she loves and
- 1:03:58Skinner alternate a lot. Skinner I will say, like last
- 1:04:01game was very impressive. So I wonder if Pittsburgh starts
- 1:04:03to break the rotation and go with one of these goalies.
- 1:04:05It'll just be poetic for them to break the rotation going into
- 1:04:08this, you know, championship week when they've been opening
- 1:04:11every game and suddenly they just go with one guy for two
- 1:04:12games in a row. I don't want it to open play for
- 1:04:16Pittsburgh. I think they should go to give
- 1:04:17him the best chance to win. Both guys have been sold, but at
- 1:04:19some point it's crunch time. You gotta win games.
- 1:04:21So I don't want you for fantasy purposes because that's just
- 1:04:24sucks. But yeah, playing for one of the
- 1:04:26Florida games even earlier, the back-to-back is like I would if
- 1:04:30I need it, but not ideal. No, I think because it's like 2
- 1:04:34games break one game break 2 games, he's gonna get 2.
- 1:04:39Yeah, yeah, he would. Like, I think like at least two,
- 1:04:43but we shall see. And then at #1 on this list,
- 1:04:46Ville Husso, you know, he was my boy a few years ago.
- 1:04:52Ray Lewis, well, that absolute terror.
- 1:04:55And he's he's actually, I think poised to win whichever game is
- 1:05:01that. We spoke about the Ducks
- 1:05:02schedule earlier. They're not playing tough
- 1:05:03opponents. No, the Ville Husso, he'll be
- 1:05:06the starter for Anaheim for one of those games and playing
- 1:05:08either Saint Louis or Calgary, you kind of hope because
- 1:05:10Calgary, because Calgary is one of the worst teams in the league
- 1:05:12and Anaheim is just a better team than both of these guys.
- 1:05:15So you can stream a better on a team that's on a goal that's on
- 1:05:19a better team and a better goalie and a bad team.
- 1:05:21So it goes together. Yes, I wasn't sure how you were
- 1:05:27you were, you know, you gotta be on YouTube for that boat.
- 1:05:31You were you were docking that that, you know, chip that went
- 1:05:34up. But anyways, yeah, I think yeah,
- 1:05:38you landed it. All right.
