- Lucas: Hey, welcome back to the show. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. So glad to be here. We've been talking about seasons and time lately, right? Lucas: Yeah, and today I thought we'd switch it up a bit and go somewhere fun. We're going to the zoo. Luna: Oh, I love the zoo. Do you remember the ocean animals episode? That was so cool. Lucas: Totally. But today we're focusing on land animals. And not just any — we're learning names you'll actually use. Luna: Sounds perfect. Let's dive in. Lucas: Our first animal is the monkey. In Spanish, it's el mono. Say it with me: el mono. Luna: El mono. That's easy. El mono. Lucas: Exactly. And a fun sentence: Veo un mono. That means 'I see a monkey.' Luna: Veo un mono. So if we're at the zoo, I can say that. Lucas: For sure. Now, the big one: the elephant. In Spanish, el elefante. Luna: El elefante. Hmm, that's a mouthful. El elefante. Lucas: You got it. And you might say: El elefante es grande. 'The elephant is big.' Luna: El elefante es grande. Good, because they are. Lucas: Next up, the lion. In Spanish, el león. Remember the accent on the o. Luna: El león. That sounds strong. El león. Lucas: Yes. And a common phrase: El león ruge. 'The lion roars.' Luna: El león ruge. I like that. Lucas: Now, the giraffe. In Spanish, la jirafa. Luna: La jirafa. That's fun. La jirafa. Lucas: And you might say: La jirafa es alta. 'The giraffe is tall.' Luna: La jirafa es alta. Makes sense. Lucas: Last one for today: the bird. In Spanish, el pájaro. Luna: El pájaro. That's cute. El pájaro. Lucas: And a sentence: El pájaro canta. 'The bird sings.' Luna: El pájaro canta. Oh, that's lovely. Lucas: Now, before we go on, I want to mention something. You know, we're able to keep this show ad-free because some of you out there support us directly. Luna: Yeah, it's true. A small group of listeners chip in monthly, and that helps a ton. Lucas: If you've been enjoying learning with us and want to help, you can find us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: It's a simple way to keep these lessons coming. Lucas: Alright, back to animals. So we have five new ones. Let's practice them all together. Repeat after me: el mono, el elefante, el león, la jirafa, el pájaro. Luna: El mono, el elefante, el león, la jirafa, el pájaro. Lucas: Great. Now, let's put them in a little story. Imagine we're at the zoo. I might say: Veo el mono. ¿Y tú? Luna: Oh, I'd say: Yo veo el elefante. Lucas: Perfect. And if it's a lion, you'd say: Veo el león. Luna: Veo el león. But what if it's a giraffe? That's 'la jirafa'. Lucas: Yes, and a bird would be 'el pájaro'. Luna: So I could say: Veo la jirafa y el pájaro. Lucas: Exactly. You're mixing them well. Now, let's do a quick quiz. How do you say 'the monkey'? Luna: El mono. Lucas: And 'the elephant'? Luna: El elefante. Lucas: And 'the lion'? Luna: El león. Lucas: And 'the giraffe'? Luna: La jirafa. Lucas: And 'the bird'? Luna: El pájaro. Lucas: You nailed them all. I'm impressed. Luna: They're easy to remember because they sound so nice. Lucas: They do. And now you can impress your friends with your zoo vocabulary. Remember to practice saying them out loud, maybe even make a sentence with each one. Luna: Good idea. I'll practice with 'Veo un mono' and 'El elefante es grande'. Lucas: That's the spirit. Well, that's all for today. We hope you enjoyed this visit to the zoo. Luna: See you next time. Keep practicing!
