- 0:00Hey guys, welcome back. Today's episode is all about the
- 0:04return of spring. The daffodils are coming out.
- 0:08They are. So excited.
- 0:10If you've been here a while, you might have seen that we did an
- 0:12episode last year all about autumn, our autumn favorites,
- 0:16autumn book recommendations, habits and things like that.
- 0:19And today we're basically going to do the same book for spring.
- 0:22So we're going to talk books, movies, TV shows, fashion, like
- 0:26all the things basically. But until we get into it, do not
- 0:30forget to like, share, subscribe and follow We Are Girls
- 0:33Unplugged on here, but also on Instagram, TikTok, everywhere,
- 0:37basically all the places, all the places.
- 0:39How are we feeling about the return of spring?
- 0:42Are we ready for the season to begin?
- 0:44Yeah, I mean, you know that I am a spring girlie to my court.
- 0:48I don't like to admit it because I feel like people think I'm a
- 0:50tammling girl. I'm not, but I do love spring.
- 0:55For me, it's like that time where I start to feel really
- 0:57like, reinvigorated and just feel some sunshine on my face.
- 1:02It makes me feel good. Although I love autumn, winter
- 1:05vibes, I don't actually love the reality of it.
- 1:08So like, this is my time that I start to thrive.
- 1:10I feel. So yeah, I'm happy for it.
- 1:12What about you? Yeah, I'm normally like the
- 1:15opposite to tour and I love autumn and winter so much.
- 1:19Specifically autumn especially because I love Halloween and
- 1:23Christmas like my favorite times of year.
- 1:25But this year I am so ready for spring and summer as well
- 1:29because I just feel like this winter has been so miserable in
- 1:34terms of like, I love the cold, but the rain and the.
- 1:37Green I was about to say like this is going to be so Brit of
- 1:42us to start talking about the weather, but we have had like
- 1:44the greyest. It's got to have been the
- 1:46greyest, wettest start of the year on record.
- 1:48I've never known this time of year be so wet and grey.
- 1:51It's been miserable. I actually saw like a news post
- 1:54the other day, this was about a week ago that until last week we
- 1:56hadn't had a single day in this country without rain.
- 2:00Isn't that mad? That is mental.
- 2:02So no wonder we are ready for the sunshine because we're
- 2:05getting seasonal affective disorder over here.
- 2:07Yeah, seasonal depression is starting to leave my body as
- 2:09we've seen some sunshine in the last week.
- 2:11So yeah, long may it continue. And with that in mind, spring
- 2:16reading, how do we feel about it?
- 2:18I know that for me, I don't really feel like, I feel like
- 2:22autumn has a specific set of like, cozy, kind of like Viber
- 2:27books that come with it. I feel like spring reading is
- 2:29kind of different for everybody. Yeah.
- 2:33So what books do you associate with spring?
- 2:36Not necessarily just books, but like genres and what what's been
- 2:40springy to you? Well, spring to me I think
- 2:42always means romance and I always tend to if I look at my
- 2:47Goodreads or story graph stats for the last few years between
- 2:52April and June. It's hilarious, I know.
- 2:55I love numbers. Guys, even though they hate me
- 2:58and I'm not very good at them, but yeah, if I look at my stats,
- 3:01April to June is always the I read the most like always
- 3:05without failing. Yeah, I both the last three
- 3:09years, my most read month has been April, May or June.
- 3:13And it would. Be like, that's the sun, like
- 3:15energizing. Yeah, like for sure.
- 3:17A new lease of life. Yeah, and I need it this year.
- 3:19Guys. I've only read 6 books so far,
- 3:23but I associate that time of year, I think very much with
- 3:27romance because they feel sunshiny, they feel light
- 3:30hearted, they feel easy to read and that's kind of what I
- 3:34associate spring with, just like happiness and joy and chilled
- 3:38out vibes. So I definitely look forward to
- 3:41some romances in this time of year.
- 3:43And one of the books that I actually associate most with
- 3:47spring is All Roads Lead here by Mariano Zapata, which I read
- 3:52like, I want to say like 4 years ago.
- 3:54And it's a if you don't know, it's a slow burn romance between
- 3:58a single dad and this woman who returns to her small town to do
- 4:01this like hike in memory of her mum.
- 4:04And it's just so cute and so sunshiny.
- 4:09And but then you have this grumpy single dad and it's the
- 4:12perfect slow bird. I need to.
- 4:14Read. This you really do.
- 4:15I've been talking. About I've never read any
- 4:17Marianas Pata and I've heard she's like the Queen of Slobel.
- 4:19She and I love torturous Slobel. It's actually torturous as well,
- 4:23like you will not get a kiss until you're like 400 pages in.
- 4:28And I think in particular, like me, your favorite would probably
- 4:32be Wall of Winnipeg and Me because it's a sports romance
- 4:36and he is like, so grumpy. And it's just, yeah, it's just
- 4:41great that one. I really like that one.
- 4:43And then the second book that I've got that I think more
- 4:46people definitely need to read. And I feel like it has a spring
- 4:49vibe in a way is a love song for Ricky Wild by Tia Williams.
- 4:54This is the author of Seven Days in June, which I know a lot of
- 4:57people have read that one and do love it.
- 4:59But this one I feel is a bit underrated.
- 5:01It's a romance that sort of has a historical element as well.
- 5:07If you've read Addie LaRue or June Farrow, it has a similar
- 5:11vibe. But specifically, it reminds me
- 5:14of spring because she's a florist and she, this whole
- 5:17premise is like her setting up this beautiful, like, florist's
- 5:20shop in New York, and she meets this old lady that lives above
- 5:24the building, and it's just got these sort of like, yeah, just
- 5:27the spring association with flowers, I guess.
- 5:30I mean, not very groundbreaking for flowers, for spring.
- 5:33It's like that Devil Wears. Pride, it is the just the
- 5:38natural what you associate with though, isn't it?
- 5:40So if it's got the vibe, it's got the vibe, I think.
- 5:44Yeah. And then I was thinking like,
- 5:46well, all of what I've associated with is romance, but
- 5:49what about other genres? And I was thinking like, is
- 5:52there any fantasy books that I feel like have more of a spring
- 5:55vibe? Because I feel like they tend to
- 5:56be more winter or autumn meaning and one I thought of.
- 6:00And Tor has read this, so I'm excited to see what she thinks
- 6:03is Twin Crowns. Yeah, I see what you mean.
- 6:06Yeah, because with it being YA, it's obviously not quite as like
- 6:10intense or serious as an adult book anyway.
- 6:12But then there is like half the world is quite hot and like
- 6:16sunshiny and there's a lot of like travelling and things.
- 6:20Book two goes a bit more like snowy, I would say.
- 6:23But yeah, so I think that's that's mine.
- 6:26OK, I do. I do agree.
- 6:28I think like I do read romance. I read a mix of those dramas all
- 6:34through the year. I wouldn't even say that I read
- 6:36loads of Cozy in the autumn even though I think I want.
- 6:39To Yeah. But I think I actually learn
- 6:42more towards fantasy at this time of the year, whether it's
- 6:47dark or not, because I like that like questing vibe, that
- 6:52adventurousness. It kind of makes me feel like
- 6:55I'm heading because I tend to hibernate so much in winter.
- 6:59I feel like there's books where they're like questing or there's
- 7:01trials. It feels a bit more like as
- 7:03you're heading into spring and summer, like there's adventure,
- 7:06like what's going to happen through the summer, like going
- 7:08to go on trip. Do you know what you mean?
- 7:10It just has that kind of excited like anticipation.
- 7:15Because now you're saying that I actually think Lord of the
- 7:18Rings. Yes, it's.
- 7:20So spring, and that's obviously a very similar thing of going on
- 7:24an adventure request and the Shire and everything.
- 7:27So yeah, I can definitely see that.
- 7:28And plus like when I've made a few videos before about books
- 7:33for Hozier, as in the singer fans, quite a lot of them seem
- 7:37to have like a spring feeling like a river enchanted, stuff
- 7:43like that. That's a bit whimsical almost.
- 7:45So yeah, I can definitely see that.
- 7:47So I wouldn't even give like, I mean, in terms of specific book
- 7:52recommendations, I can't even like think of loads off the top
- 7:56of my head. But like Star Side, which I was
- 7:59like, I'm not going to talk about that today because I feel
- 8:01like I'll start obsessing about it.
- 8:02But I just finished a book called Star Side by Alex Astor
- 8:05and the whole book she's on like a quest.
- 8:08The whole book is like travelling a journey.
- 8:11And that, to me, felt like a perfect spring.
- 8:16Yeah. Because it's just, and then the
- 8:19payoff at the end, you're like, yeah, this feels like it's never
- 8:24going to happen to you because Dragons in magical lands don't
- 8:27exist. But you kind of feel energized
- 8:29at the end because there's been such a build up, like with Lord
- 8:32of the Rings, such a build up of this long journey.
- 8:34And at the end, something quite like gratifying.
- 8:37And the payoff is so good. You're like, I can do shit this
- 8:40year. Do you know what I mean?
- 8:41It's kind of got that vibe to it.
- 8:43So when Star Side comes out, I highly recommend that people
- 8:46read that and I think other books like Metal Slinger.
- 8:52Yeah. Do you know that was when I was
- 8:53thinking of when I was looking through my Goodreads as well.
- 8:55Yeah, and bridge Kingdom books like that I think have good like
- 9:02spring fantasy kind of energy. For romance books, I would
- 9:05always lean to like the typical like cowboy romance because I
- 9:10always associate like sunshine with ranches and stuff.
- 9:13I feel like that always gives that like happy summer of spring
- 9:17vibe. Do you know what I mean?
- 9:18Yeah, definitely. I almost said Rebel Blue Ranch,
- 9:21but then I was like for me I could it's more specifically
- 9:24summer than spring, but definitely they are like the
- 9:28perfect things to read at this time of year.
- 9:30What about TBR? What is on your TBR for the rest
- 9:35of spring and summer? My TBR is not really TBR ING at
- 9:38the moment. I haven't really even been doing
- 9:40hopefuls. A plan like a star side was not
- 9:44even in my periphery. I was lucky enough to get sent a
- 9:46copy by balloons and just looked at it and I was like, I really
- 9:49want to read this. Yeah.
- 9:50And I'm definitely just in that vibe at the moment.
- 9:52As soon as I finish that, my thought process.
- 9:55I had other fancy books I thought I wanted to read over
- 9:58the next couple of months. And I was like, I don't want to
- 10:00pick up a fancy yet because I loved it so much.
- 10:04I was like, I feel like something isn't going to compare
- 10:07to that at the minute. So I've picked up a fluffy
- 10:10romance Lauren Asher Love arranged because I just found
- 10:15her so easy to read and I've picked up a dark stalk romance.
- 10:18I'm listening to an audio at the moment, so I just think I'm very
- 10:23much in a mood. Yeah.
- 10:26There's a couple of anticipated releases I'm really looking
- 10:28forward to. Obviously Fury Bound is coming
- 10:32out soon, which we're really excited for.
- 10:35In Her Own League by Liz Tom Fordy, really excited for that.
- 10:39So I think, yeah, I feel like the next couple of months is
- 10:42very much just going to be what do I fancy?
- 10:44And I'm going to pick it up, yeah.
- 10:46Mine's similar really. I was looking at my TBR and I
- 10:48was looking at my 26 for 2026 and there wasn't a lot that was
- 10:53calling spring. A lot of it was sort of like a
- 10:565050 split of upcoming releases and then like wintery fantasies
- 11:01for me or darker books. And none of them were really
- 11:04calling my name for spring other than maybe Fury Bound.
- 11:10But one thing I desperately need to do and want to do, because
- 11:14it's definitely a spring vibe, is book 6 in the Sparrow Falls
- 11:19series, which is. Oh yeah, I forgot that that's.
- 11:23Coming out secret yes, it's out secret haven, so I'm going to do
- 11:27that and finish that series off especially because that book is
- 11:30the one that I was kind of waiting for the whole series
- 11:33it's the one it's the couple that you'll.
- 11:34I'm glad we've had a bit of a break from the series now as
- 11:37well because we both said, didn't we?
- 11:38They felt like they were getting a bit samey because we went so
- 11:40close together. Yeah, the plots and like the
- 11:43formulas are the same in every book and it's just the
- 11:46characters that change. So I'm excited to kind of finish
- 11:50that off, close it off and have it be the most anticipated
- 11:53couple. Similarly to what I recommended,
- 11:57I want to finish Burning Crowns, which is a book 3 in the I know
- 12:03it's book 3 in the Twin Crown series.
- 12:05Last year I read half of it and I just can't remember what
- 12:08happened. I don't know if I had an ARC to
- 12:10read or something else pulled me in, but I came away from it and
- 12:13I just never came back. That's that's terrible.
- 12:16Yeah, and I really want to do it and finish it because I did
- 12:18really love book 1 and 2 and it definitely has kind of a summary
- 12:22vibe in a way. And then I think my friends are
- 12:25going to kill me if this isn't the spring and summer that I
- 12:28finally read. 7 Year Slip. Oh my God how did I not even
- 12:33think of that for spring books. The seven-year slip actually
- 12:37gives perfect spring vibes. There you go, I need to read it.
- 12:42I haven't done it yet. I've had it on my TV off like 2
- 12:441/2 years. So I've got, I don't even know
- 12:47for people on camera, I've actually got the most stunning
- 12:50special edition of seven-year Slip.
- 12:53Oh my. Goodness it's so so stunning.
- 12:57Honestly you have to read this. It's like one of my all time
- 13:00favorite romance. Everybody says that and I've
- 13:02never read any of her books. Like I haven't read dead
- 13:04romantics either or anything else that she's.
- 13:07Done. I haven't read anything else
- 13:09since, but I will because her writing was so fantastic.
- 13:13It's just not something I've been like, oh, I'm going to read
- 13:16that right now. I think because I know they have
- 13:18an element of like ghostiness and like almost like time travel
- 13:23and stuff, I've been put off them because that's not really
- 13:26something I love. However, I did love June Farrow
- 13:30and as I said, love song for Ricky Wild, which is kind of
- 13:33similar. So maybe that's changed and I am
- 13:36getting more into that side of kind of magic and whimsy now.
- 13:39But yeah, I need to read that. And then finally for me on my
- 13:43TBR is the two Hunger Games prequels, so Sunrise on the
- 13:47Reaping and the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
- 13:51I don't know what it is. Even though they these have been
- 13:54so hyped and people love them and people cry them.
- 13:56I've had no urge to read them and I've I've got both of them
- 13:59in hardback until recently when I watched finally watched
- 14:04Songbird of Ballads, The Ballad of Songbirds.
- 14:07And snakes. These names get more more
- 14:08complicated honestly. I watched the film and I really
- 14:12enjoyed it and now I want to do the books and something about
- 14:15them feels like the right time of year, I think because like
- 14:18the actual games and trials are like often outside in the in the
- 14:21arena. I don't know.
- 14:22But yeah, that's mine I think. Love that I've never never read
- 14:26any of The Hunger Games books. I have no desire to.
- 14:33I feel like they're the type of thing that people still love now
- 14:36because they read them when they were younger.
- 14:38No, I don't think that's it. Like because they are, they're
- 14:43not like Twilight or Divergent where it's like poor writing.
- 14:47They're like phenomenally written.
- 14:49I can't say that word phenomenally.
- 14:52You know what I mean guys? They're so well written.
- 14:54I mean, they're like basically classed as modern classics now.
- 14:57I, I just think they are so powerful and obviously she wrote
- 15:03them inspired by real world events so they always feel quite
- 15:05timely as well. I it's hard to say if I think
- 15:09you would like them because I know dystopian is not one of
- 15:11your big genres. Anyway, although I have to say
- 15:15like, oh, I try not to give in to the top.
- 15:20We can't speak today. Today, guys, just forgive me,
- 15:24OK? It's been a week.
- 15:26I'm trying not to lean into the top hype, but I am very
- 15:31intrigued by this Daggermouth book that everyone's talking
- 15:33about. I've started that, have you?
- 15:35I've started it so I've outdated everyone.
- 15:38I saw so many people whose taste I love give this five stars, 6
- 15:43stars. And obviously we talked about
- 15:45the author in the Book Talk drama video because she was the
- 15:48one that had the argument with KM Moranova.
- 15:52Oh yeah. This was her SO.
- 15:55Oh, I didn't even make the name. Yes.
- 15:57So this was the book that she took a quote from, and then KM
- 16:01Moranova wasn't happy about it. But it's a dystopian book, so it
- 16:04makes sense, right? So anyway, that's kind of
- 16:06another reason I wanted to read it.
- 16:08Interesting. Yeah I'm not very far in, I'm
- 16:11literally like 2 chapters in but I will update.
- 16:13OK, interesting. Yeah, let me know.
- 16:15Keep me in the loop. Yeah, this is exciting because I
- 16:18feel like that's going to be because it's being re released,
- 16:20isn't it? So I feel like that's kind of
- 16:23becoming a highly anticipated for people to read over the next
- 16:25couple of months. Yeah, going to be tried
- 16:27published. There's actually lots coming out
- 16:29there's. So much I can't.
- 16:30Do when the moon hatched that soon, isn't it?
- 16:33Isn't that April? Yes, really soon.
- 16:35And I mean that will be a spring one I have to read, but more so
- 16:39because of the anticipation rather than it fit spring
- 16:42because I just need to know. I just need to know what.
- 16:44Happened. I think that's how I feel about
- 16:45Fury Bound. Yeah, that too, actually.
- 16:48When's the next metal Slinger out, light wielder?
- 16:53I want to say May as well, April or May, and that's going to be
- 16:57like an instant. Yeah, that's going to be an
- 16:59instant read. The cliffhanger on that is
- 17:00literally what makes the book Oh my God.
- 17:02That's so good. There's other ones as well.
- 17:05Like I know that you're not feeling too asked about reading
- 17:08it at the moment, but the newest L Kennedy is coming out.
- 17:11Yeah, because it's because it's a Graham and Logan Logan's.
- 17:17I'm just like, this is going to be so good.
- 17:20I know that the book's going to be full of bad chat text
- 17:23messages and I'm just, I'm all about the fucking nostalgia that
- 17:27it's going to give me. I probably will read that one
- 17:30because like you say, it's got. It's got the original characters
- 17:33in it, so I feel like it's going to be different.
- 17:35Yeah, I just need to get through Charlie method.
- 17:38I don't think you need to read that to do this though, OK.
- 17:40So maybe I'll just skip it. Yeah, Charlie method guy, she
- 17:43is. In she is in the Charlie method
- 17:46quite a bit I think, but I don't think it's relevant to this
- 17:51story at all. I guess it's a standalone.
- 17:54Yeah, I was gonna say, I guess it's like Briar you and off
- 17:56campus anyway, right where you can read any of the books and
- 17:59that makes sense. Yeah.
- 18:00Yeah, I'm gonna do that. Then everyone was giving Charlie
- 18:02Method low ratings guys so I've just given up on.
- 18:06I'm just so easily pleased in these situations.
- 18:09If it's fun and funny and spicy, like I'm happy because I
- 18:12especially typically love someone I'm going to read.
- 18:15But I do a lot of L Kennedys on audio so that I just feel like
- 18:18they've got that easy energy to them.
- 18:19Do you know what you mean? That it's just easy to have one
- 18:21while I'm cleaning or driving or whatever?
- 18:24So it's not an effort. There's no effort to it because
- 18:27I'm not sitting down reading it. I don't feel like I'm wasting my
- 18:29time. Yeah, they're definitely.
- 18:32It's not like reading a high fantasy, no.
- 18:34Okay, so we've obviously talked about books and what's on our
- 18:37TBR and books we'd recommend to you for spring, but what about
- 18:40movies and TV? Are there any specific things
- 18:45you like to watch in spring? A certain genre?
- 18:49Certain type of show or film or re watches?
- 18:52I know what I have, but I don't know with you not being so much
- 18:57of ATV and movie person how yours changes in that time of
- 19:00year. I feel like movies for me, it's
- 19:02just like it's never like it's a very rarely specifics apart from
- 19:06autumn. I'm like practical magic got to
- 19:08be watched movies. I don't really.
- 19:11It's just a it's ad hoc for me, like is there something cool
- 19:16coming out? Do I want to watch it?
- 19:17Does Kyle want to have a movie night and we pick something?
- 19:20So movie is not really a thing for me.
- 19:21Spring, to me is all about Maths Australia.
- 19:27Married at first sight. I still haven't watched that
- 19:29guys. Honestly I mean I only watched
- 19:32the Australian one but it is so entertaining.
- 19:36Me and my best friend normally put it on at the same time every
- 19:38evening. We text the whole way through
- 19:40every episode, it's the whole thing.
- 19:42So that is that scream spring for me and obviously it's the
- 19:46start of the F1 season, which is big for both of us and for a lot
- 19:52of book top girlies or also F1 girlies.
- 19:55Pause. Why don't we say here who we're
- 19:58calling as constructors champion and world champion and we can
- 20:03look back guys at the end of this year and we'll know who who
- 20:07was closest. OK, I am going to say
- 20:12constructors championship. Can't we do this after the first
- 20:18race? No.
- 20:19OK, OK, fine. I'm going to say constructors
- 20:24champions. I'm going to go.
- 20:27I'm just going to say McLaren. OK, And drivers champion.
- 20:34I want to go really rogue and say Kimi Antonelli.
- 20:39I can see that, you know, like. I feel like he was amazing last
- 20:42year. I feel like he could wow us.
- 20:44And his testing, I know it's only testing, but his testing
- 20:46scores so far this year, he was really high and.
- 20:49A lot of people, there's been a lot to talk about the Mercedes
- 20:51car for this season, so yeah. I am going to say constructors
- 20:56champion, I think it'll be Mercedes again because I think
- 20:58both of them are going to be really consistent and they've
- 21:00got this good engine and everything.
- 21:02Drivers champion. I was going to say George until
- 21:06recently because his testing was doing well again the Mercedes 8
- 21:09engine. Now I've got this weird feeling
- 21:12about Lewis, and I don't know if that's just delusion or if it's
- 21:16actual gut. Instinct.
- 21:20Delulu Hamilton, but OK, that's my predictions.
- 21:25Lewis and Mercedes. Maybe George Russell for
- 21:27champion, I don't know. OK, fine.
- 21:30This is going to be so interesting to look back on.
- 21:32Let us know as well. Comment below who you think's
- 21:34going to win, whether it's constructors or the actual
- 21:36championship. I want to know, I want to know.
- 21:40So yeah, I mean, apart from maths and F1 starting, I don't
- 21:45really feel like for me I've got a lot of because TV movies just
- 21:49isn't my thing. Yeah, yeah.
- 21:52I feel like I have things that I would recommend to you guys that
- 21:57I associate with Spring. So for TV I've got my little
- 22:00list because there was so much on here I had to write it down.
- 22:03TV Grace and Frankie is the ultimate TV show for spring.
- 22:07I actually think you would love that TV show someone.
- 22:09Said that to me recently. Is this about the wives who at
- 22:12the beginning their husbands basically tell them that they're
- 22:16they're gay together, they're all friends and Oh my God.
- 22:19Their husbands have been having like a 30 year affair behind
- 22:23their back. And so at like 80 years old,
- 22:25they have to get divorced. And then these two women who
- 22:28have not been friends previously and now only have each other,
- 22:33who understands this situation and all of their families are
- 22:37involved. And it's like a kind of comedy.
- 22:39But the reason I think you specifically would like it
- 22:41because I think the friendship that develops between the two
- 22:43women feels quite relatable. OK, one's like really type B and
- 22:48hippie ish and spiritual. The other one's really type A
- 22:50and I. Sounds like me and Amy.
- 22:53Yeah, so I think that one is the ultimate spring watch.
- 22:56It's sat on a beach, like it's just perfect and it's so easy
- 22:59watch. The next one is something I love
- 23:02to rewatch and I've just done a rewatch and that's Girls and
- 23:06that's the Lena Dunham show that was like, I think it's like 2014
- 23:10to 2017 kind of time. And it's just like, it's almost
- 23:14like a modern Sex in the City because it's about these 4
- 23:17millennial women that are friends, but they're all like
- 23:20horrendous like but like in the funniest way.
- 23:25So there's like 1 scene that I'll never forget where one of
- 23:28the girls and she's like this white kind of art gallery, like
- 23:32very put together, very chic. And she gets up at this party
- 23:36and she does a very serious cover of Kanye West.
- 23:41And it's like, you know, when you're watching something,
- 23:44you're cringing for the person. Oh.
- 23:46My. God, it's just the funniest show
- 23:48ever. So I love a light rewatch of
- 23:51that because it's comedy. And then also, I don't know why
- 23:54I associate this with a spring rewatch, but this is one of my
- 23:57favourites to binge watch. And I actually don't know if
- 23:59you've ever seen this or if you're a fan, and that's Gossip
- 24:01Girl. Oh yeah, I, well, I say like I
- 24:04used to love Gossip Girl, but it's not the type of show that I
- 24:09think I would ever rewatch. I have rewatched it so many
- 24:12times like. This.
- 24:13This. I've just started to rewatch
- 24:15last week and it must be at least my 7th or 8th.
- 24:18Oh my God. I love it.
- 24:21I don't know what it is and I don't know why I associate it
- 24:23with spring because actually quite a lot of the episodes are
- 24:25like New Year's parties, Christmas parties, Halloween
- 24:28parties, like things like that. But I think again, just because
- 24:30it's that light hearted romance, nothing too serious or intense.
- 24:35So those are the three for me that are TV and then movies.
- 24:40I feel like it all comes down to again, romance and like
- 24:43nostalgic re watches and kind of kids films and things like that
- 24:47because it's again just happy and easy watch.
- 24:51My ultimate ultimate ultimate spring movie comfort watch is
- 24:55Pride and Prejudice, but the Keira Knightley.
- 24:59Yeah, that one. And how can that just not be
- 25:02spring? Like it's literally set where
- 25:04I'm from in Derbyshire. I'm part of it anyway.
- 25:08Part of it's at Caddleston, Chatsworth House, sorry.
- 25:11And then there's like that rain scene in the green, and it's
- 25:15just so. Yeah.
- 25:16It's just so. Spring Springy.
- 25:19Yeah, and I cry at the ending every single time.
- 25:22And then Mermaids with Cher, if you've ever seen that, Oh my
- 25:27gosh. Oh my God.
- 25:27OK, Mermaids has got Cher, Winona Ryder and Christina
- 25:30Ritchie when she was tiny. And it's about a single mom with
- 25:33these two girls and they move town every time the mom has a
- 25:38relationship that breaks down. And it's it's kind of practical
- 25:42magic vibes in in a sense of like the dysfunction of the
- 25:45family, but also like how much they love each other.
- 25:48Very cozy, easy watch, like comforting, quite funny.
- 25:53Love Cher and then finally my all time favorite ROM com
- 25:57Clueless again just like the perfect.
- 25:59I can see that that gives her spring vibes.
- 26:02Yeah, because a lot of it's like outside as well.
- 26:04And then you have the scene with her shopping and then there's
- 26:08the flowery like wedding bit at the end.
- 26:11And yeah, it's just very perfect for that time of year, I think.
- 26:14I just, I have to say, I just watched the other day, people we
- 26:19meet on vacation. And I would say for like a new
- 26:22ROM com to watch that would be perfect because it kind of it's
- 26:27very like summary, but it kind of gives that nice like summer,
- 26:32spring kind of energy. And I loved it.
- 26:35It was like cheese on fucking toast.
- 26:37And I was all about it. Yeah.
- 26:39And we've just had the casting for her new one, which is going
- 26:43to be beach read, so it's going to.
- 26:45Be actress. I didn't thought to check it out
- 26:46because I didn't wasn't 100% from the picture.
- 26:48Is that Daphne from season 1 of Bridgeton?
- 26:51Oh yes, fine. So I think her name's Phoebe
- 26:53Denver, and so she's Daphne in Bridgeton season 1, and she's
- 26:57going to be playing January in Beach Read.
- 26:59We don't have Gus yet, though. I mean.
- 27:01Speaking of spring, Bridgeton gives such.
- 27:04It's really got that like spring energy.
- 27:07I almost just put that down, the drop of the second part of
- 27:10Season 4. Yeah, I almost put that down,
- 27:13but then I thought, is that just too obvious for me to say that
- 27:15everyone's seen it, surely? But it is.
- 27:17There's still people out there that have never watched it.
- 27:19Imagine being one of those people and discovering it and
- 27:22watching it from being able to binge watch four whole seasons
- 27:25of it. 5 if you include Queen Charlotte.
- 27:27It's so good. I want to know everyone's
- 27:30favorite season of that because we have conflicting.
- 27:33My favorite season is season 1, yours is 2.
- 27:35Right, Season 2, Yeah, Season 4 is going to be a strong contend.
- 27:38I was just about to say though, season 4 I'm really enjoying so.
- 27:41Far, it's so good. The acting.
- 27:44I'm not someone that really like, I don't even think about
- 27:47the fact that people are actors like some of like our group of
- 27:50friends, yeah. But in this one, I'm like, wow,
- 27:52this actress is fucking phenomenal.
- 27:55She's Sophie is amazing. She's so good.
- 27:59Yeah, I'm really excited to see how this one ends.
- 28:02So moving on from all things entertainment, books and TV,
- 28:08spring in general, because I think it's got a lot of nice
- 28:11things about it other than what we're reading and watching.
- 28:14In fact, I prefer the other things I've all reading and
- 28:17watching. And I don't know about you, but
- 28:19for me, I feel like spring is actually more of a time where
- 28:24although I always make New Year's resolute, not New Year's
- 28:27resolutions, but like goals at the beginning of the year,
- 28:29Spring is actually when I think I start to feel a lot more
- 28:32energized in the, and a lot of like Chinese New Year is more
- 28:35like heading into spring. A lot of people actually see it
- 28:37as like, like a rebirth of our environment when people are kind
- 28:40of, you know, what are some of just like your normal favorite
- 28:44things about spring? Again, I love the return of like
- 28:48all the nature. Obviously we've talked about the
- 28:51daffodils coming through, but just generally like animals
- 28:54start to come out more as well. You hear the bird song in the
- 28:56morning, the sunshine and like just the natural environment
- 29:01feels a lot more alive than winter and autumn, which
- 29:06obviously makes sense because all the leaves go and everything
- 29:08in those months. But one of my favorite things
- 29:11specifically about this time of year is also the fact that I
- 29:14feel way more energized and motivated.
- 29:17And to me it definitely feels like, right, we are in a new
- 29:20year now. I can start to do things and
- 29:25like I kind of get into better habits and routine I would say
- 29:29at this time of year. I feel like it's easier to kind
- 29:31of put that I don't like the word motivation because I feel
- 29:34like it's not, it's not helpful. Motivation only gets you so far.
- 29:39But I do think it's it's this time of year creates an
- 29:43environment where it's easier for you to remain consistent
- 29:46with healthier habits. Do you know what I mean?
- 29:48And what are the habits that you like to do during spring?
- 29:52I feel like. Or like how your habits change,
- 29:56I suppose. I think like what we just said,
- 29:59I just think it helps. So for me, one of my favorite
- 30:01things about spring is that the lighter mornings, I know that a
- 30:06lot of people struggle in the winter with dark evenings, but
- 30:08for me, the dark mornings are much, much harder.
- 30:12I'm a real morning person. I quite like getting up at 5:00
- 30:16in the morning. Literally my worst nightmare.
- 30:19But especially this year, for whatever reason, the dark
- 30:22mornings have really, really impacted me at the beginning of
- 30:25this year. So for me, it's just that waking
- 30:28up with the sunshine in the morning, like you say, the birds
- 30:31are chirping. I feel just naturally happier.
- 30:34And it makes it easier for me to like, right, I'm going to get up
- 30:36and exercise today, the sunshine or it's a bit brighter, it's
- 30:39that little bit warmer. So it helps me be like
- 30:41lunchtime. I'm going to go out and get my
- 30:43steps in because I want to enjoy the sun on my face.
- 30:47So I don't think it's new habits that I create.
- 30:49I just think that that more alive environment makes me more
- 30:53inclined to stick to healthier habits.
- 30:56Do you know what I mean? Yeah, mine's similar.
- 30:59I it is almost a new habit for me because I completely stopped
- 31:02doing it in winter, which is lunchtime walks.
- 31:06And they're so much more enjoyable in spring.
- 31:09And I live by a river as well, so I can kind of walk up the
- 31:13river. And yeah.
- 31:15And you have the sound of the the water and everything and the
- 31:19sun just blaring down on you. And it's just, it just makes
- 31:22such a difference, particularly in breaking up the work day as
- 31:25well, which then makes you focus better or just be better at your
- 31:29job and just in general, like getting outside more.
- 31:32So not just for lunchtime walks, but even when I have plans with
- 31:37friends and stuff at the weekend, I'm much more likely to
- 31:40want to do something outside and to like get those steps and
- 31:43exercise in. And a lot like particularly one
- 31:46of my best friends, Ellie, we love to do like weekends where
- 31:50we kind of go round all different coffee shops in London
- 31:53and like get a matcha and go for a walk and then go in book shops
- 31:56and clothes shops. And it's so much easier to do
- 31:59that when you're not having to like, take off your jacket every
- 32:01time you step in front in step inside a store.
- 32:04And then wet like wet bottom of your trousers.
- 32:07Or like you've got to wear your big like Doc Martin boots rather
- 32:11than just like a nice little trainer or sandal.
- 32:13Do you know what I mean? Like, it's just so much easier.
- 32:15Everything feels more practical in these times of year.
- 32:19Yeah, I also love this Will anyone that's been following
- 32:23along either our journey or me on social as well.
- 32:26I'm so severely type A and I with some severe type B
- 32:32tendencies as well, though. But I for me like the spring
- 32:35clean. There is nothing better than
- 32:37like pulling everything out, like super satisfying.
- 32:40I'm not looking at my garden right now, which you guys can't
- 32:43see. Like the thought of being able
- 32:45to like brush up all the like shit that's dropped off the
- 32:47trees through the winter and just like that energy of spring.
- 32:52I bloody love a good spring clean.
- 32:55It makes me so happy and do. You know, one thing that I think
- 32:58is really underrated as well is just actually like buying
- 33:01flowers to have in your house because they all come in season
- 33:04again. Like I've got some tulips at the
- 33:06moment and it just makes such a difference that you walk into
- 33:09the room, you see this. Gorgeous like bouquet of
- 33:11flowers, vibrant some colour. Some colour, some just.
- 33:14Yeah, I think they make such a difference.
- 33:16I have to say, moving on to thinking about clothes for a
- 33:20second and spring style for a very like neutral like beige and
- 33:26black girly. I am actually very excited about
- 33:28how colourful wearing clothing is looking this year.
- 33:32Hence red T-shirt for me is very young character, but all these
- 33:36like I wouldn't do it in my house because my house has to
- 33:40feel neutral for me to feel calm.
- 33:41So what he was doing in the houses right now I think is a
- 33:44little bit wild I have to say. But they're like really
- 33:48colourful, bold clothing that I'm seeing kind of coming in for
- 33:51this year has me quite excited. I don't know how much of it I'm
- 33:54actually going to wear, but I'm really enjoying the visuals of
- 33:58it at the moment. I actually have that on my list
- 34:00as well. Yeah.
- 34:01Which is so funny because neither of us are very colourful
- 34:04people, but in completely different ways.
- 34:06Taught, like she says, obviously loves neutrals.
- 34:08I'm very monochromatic. I tend to just wear a lot of
- 34:11black, a bit of white, maybe some burgundy if I'm feeling out
- 34:15there, dark green. But this year, I really, I mean,
- 34:19in general, I would say actually spring and summer is the time of
- 34:22year when I do tend to wear more colour.
- 34:24Like I've got a few like summary dresses and things, yeah.
- 34:27You probably wear more colour than I do.
- 34:28In. Yeah, actually probably.
- 34:31And this year I'm really excited for it.
- 34:33Like there's so much nice green shades and like corals and stuff
- 34:37and yeah, I'm really excited for.
- 34:38That for me, it's like the stripes, like I've got a pair of
- 34:40trousers I was actually thinking of wearing for this episode
- 34:42today, which is why I bought this T-shirt, funnily enough.
- 34:45But it was a bit too much red. But it's like very bold pink and
- 34:49red stripe like wide leg trousers.
- 34:52And there's such a vibe, which is absolutely not something I
- 34:55ever wear. Never thought I would hear you
- 34:57say pink and red. Stripe, but they're just.
- 35:00They're such that's your vibe and I'm really loving the
- 35:02stripes at the minute. Funnily enough, I've just
- 35:05brought two things that are stripey.
- 35:06One you've probably seen because I've got it on in a TikTok video
- 35:10quite a lot, and it's this long sleeve like flared stripe, dark
- 35:14green and grey stripey top. But then I've also just brought
- 35:18this long sleeve, but like slightly oversize and baggy pink
- 35:22and like a dark brownie burgundy stripe.
- 35:25Nice. And it's because my friend
- 35:26Sarah, Sarah was wearing it last time I saw her last weekend.
- 35:32And I was like, I need that. And it's so funny because we
- 35:35always get called twins. And now I'm literally like
- 35:36purposely buying something She's.
- 35:39Wearing so I just got Zola the other day in next.
- 35:43We bought her these like she got loads of birthday money.
- 35:46This is my daughter for reference people she's 6.
- 35:49We took her out shopping with her birthday money and got us
- 35:53some new clothes and she got these trousers in next.
- 35:56They're like like a pinky ready, kind of like check barrel leg,
- 36:00like thin material. They're giving very like cool,
- 36:04cute, like spring summer vibes. And they've got little like
- 36:07picture like colourful pictures on that kind of dotted around.
- 36:10And I looked on the website and they're coming age 16.
- 36:13So I'm going to buy a pair and see if they fit.
- 36:16That is so funny. So we could have little matching
- 36:18trousers because they're actually, they might look a
- 36:21little bit young, but they that's such a vibe.
- 36:23You might probably make them look cool.
- 36:26Yeah. Honestly, yeah, there's just,
- 36:29and there is some really nice stuff at the minute everywhere.
- 36:32Like I just done a £300 shopping order but half of it will
- 36:36probably go back knowing me. So another thing I noticed about
- 36:40spring and Summit is that for me, I tend to dress more
- 36:42feminine as well. So like in winter and autumn,
- 36:46I'm very much kind of like a little bit tomboyish.
- 36:50I would say even though I love fashion and I love makeup and
- 36:52glam and stuff, I do lean a bit more tomboyish.
- 36:54I love trainers, baggy silhouettes, like things like
- 36:58that. But in summer and spring I go a
- 37:00bit more almost like a bit whimsical.
- 37:04Like I love, yeah, I love a MIDI dress and like something that
- 37:08looks a bit fantasy ish. Do you know what I mean?
- 37:10And like or. Like a ruffle or a puffle, even
- 37:12when you go even with your like, I'm thinking of your like black.
- 37:14Dress. Yeah, I know the one you think?
- 37:16Yeah, I love something that feels a bit boho almost.
- 37:20I don't know if any of you follow the Tik Toker or
- 37:22Instagrammer. I think her name's Bethany
- 37:25Centineo, and she's this mom of four, but she's got this like
- 37:29gorgeous long WAVY hair and she wears all these like very boho
- 37:34outfits. And she always does videos like
- 37:36inspired by Arwin from Lord of the Rings and that stuff like
- 37:38that. I look.
- 37:39So ridiculous in that kind of stuff.
- 37:41And I really tried it because I would love to be able to.
- 37:44I think it's just a mix of like my shape, I'm very even even
- 37:48when I'm smaller. Like, I'm very curvy and I'm
- 37:52very short, so it just looks stupid on me.
- 37:55I feel like it's it probably doesn't look stupid.
- 37:58I think that's a bit of an exaggeration and you're being
- 37:59hard on yourself. But I know what you mean because
- 38:02even when I was curvier than I am now, it was harder than it is
- 38:07when I'm slim. Yeah, it's just, I think it's
- 38:11overall like my general shape and height.
- 38:16Don't go with that type of, especially longer ones.
- 38:22Yeah, because they can look like a bit like frumpy or you.
- 38:25Can drown a kid wearing your mum's clothes?
- 38:27Yeah, yeah, No, I do get that. I am quite a bit taller than
- 38:32tall, so I can sort of get away with that side of it.
- 38:35But when I was curvier, I did find it harder on like creating
- 38:39a silhouette that made me still look like I had a waist and
- 38:41stuff. But I've lost a bit of weight
- 38:44now, guys. Whole different topic entirely.
- 38:49Interbronty's live traumas. Yeah, Another thing that I had
- 38:55down was that I love trends as well in general.
- 39:00So with each season, whether it be spring or summer or winter or
- 39:04whatever, I do like to kind of experiment with new trends.
- 39:07And I'm a very trend LED person, which means I'm always like
- 39:10changing my wardrobe and I have like someone that I'm obsessed
- 39:14with at the minute. I don't know if any of you guys
- 39:15follow her. She's an influencer on Tiktok.
- 39:17I think you pronounce her name like Salome Salome Andrea and
- 39:21she is this. What do I feel like?
- 39:23I recognize that. She's she's got black hair,
- 39:25she's fair and she's got these twin daughters and they always
- 39:29do like outfit videos together and they're really foot like
- 39:32cool and she's got. I need to follow this lady.
- 39:36Yeah, she's got the most perfect style, like her style is.
- 39:39American or. American, but I think.
- 39:42If she gets matched, there's just matching outfits with her
- 39:44kids. Sort of.
- 39:46Sort of like hate. When they're American, I'm like,
- 39:48I can't get these clothes. Yeah, I know.
- 39:50And but like, yeah, she's just so cool.
- 39:52Like she's so cool. So I'm taking a lot of
- 39:55inspiration from her wardrobe, right?
- 39:57Now, I think then Brunty thinks that she's cool.
- 39:59Yeah, she's really cool, guys. I do.
- 40:02I know what you mean though about the trends.
- 40:04I feel like I am very much like that.
- 40:07I see things and I'm like, I want to try that most of the
- 40:10time try and think this doesn't look very good on me.
- 40:13But this year especially, I think I'm trying to, I'm trying
- 40:18to be a lot more conscious this year about fast fashion.
- 40:21Yeah. So I am trying to be a bit more
- 40:24selective this year in terms of, and I'm being much more
- 40:27financially minded this year, as you will have seen probably from
- 40:31our New Year's goals episode. So I think that I'm trying to be
- 40:38much more buy something for multiple outfits and a season
- 40:44rather than buying everything for a reason.
- 40:46Do you know what you mean? Buying it for a specific outfit?
- 40:49I want everything to be like how many times can I wear this and
- 40:53how many different ways can I wear it instead of just buy
- 40:57every time I'm going out to do something.
- 40:59Yeah, I should do that, but I don't and I've tried before and
- 41:04I think my way around this is that I'm trying to re like sell
- 41:10onwards on vintage and stuff more and also buy more from
- 41:14vintage which I'm like semi successful that at the minute.
- 41:19But I think any effort is progression there, and that's
- 41:22important to remind yourself of. Yeah.
- 41:24And I think, like, I don't know if anyone relates to this at
- 41:26home, but it's difficult when you're a woman, right?
- 41:28And your weight changes so often, like even just in a month
- 41:32from period to luteal phase to normal, like, my weight can
- 41:36change by like, over half a stone.
- 41:38Yeah. Which means I need so many
- 41:40different shapes of clothing, sizes of clothing.
- 41:43So I completely agree. Even that in itself is annoying.
- 41:46Which is why why I live in activewear, because I can wear
- 41:48the same 7 pairs of leggings every single week and it's not.
- 41:51A problem? Yeah, exactly.
- 41:53But then, like last year, I was starting to feel a bit like, oh
- 41:56God, like I just always am in the same thing.
- 41:58I don't make an effort anymore. And then earlier this year, for
- 42:01like a few weeks, I was going on dates and I was dressing
- 42:04obviously nice for them. And I was like, Oh my God, I
- 42:06love dressing nice again. It makes a difference, doesn't
- 42:09it? Even when I went into the office
- 42:11recently, which I don't do very often, I was like, oh, it's so
- 42:13nice to be in like a put together kind of powerful woman.
- 42:18Yeah. Do you know what I mean?
- 42:19Like I was like, it does change your vibe.
- 42:22Even when I get dressed for the podcast, I'm like, oh, this is
- 42:24this is a nice change of faith. Yeah.
- 42:27It just gives you like an inner confidence that you don't really
- 42:30get with practical and comfort clothes.
- 42:33And obviously you get other things out of wearing them.
- 42:35But the sort of feeling good about yourself comes from, I
- 42:38think, dressing in nice or things that you feel really
- 42:42special or different in. Yeah, I agree.
- 42:45I mean, we've ended up talking about clothes longer than I
- 42:47thought we were going. To talk about clothes longer
- 42:48than this, but. Not really that surprising
- 42:50because we do we both for two people that are like fairly like
- 42:55plain Jane sometimes we fucking love clothes and fashion and
- 42:59accessories and all things like girly.
- 43:01So it's not really actually a surprise.
- 43:03It's not a surprise if you follow us on TikTok as well
- 43:05because we even do content about it sometimes.
- 43:10Spring food and drink. I love spring food and drink
- 43:14because I automatically gravitate towards healthier
- 43:18things I think without even much effort.
- 43:21Like I love fruit in spring and summer, I love salad in spring
- 43:25and summer. But in winter I'm much more
- 43:27likely to want those kind of like hearty carb heavy meals,
- 43:32which I think is normal, right? It's to obviously bulk up for
- 43:35the colder season, but I just find that naturally I gravitate
- 43:40towards those lighter meals, fresher meals, picky bits.
- 43:44Yeah, I love picky bits, guys. M&S picky bits.
- 43:47Nothing better is there? See I just I actually more think
- 43:51of picky bits at Christmas. But you are right like we do
- 43:54tend to do it especially as it gets into like summary months we
- 43:58do. We do have picky bits.
- 44:00Like crackers and cheese and fruit and stuff.
- 44:02You see, I wouldn't say that we do that a lot in the early
- 44:04spring and summer. We're more like, to me, spring
- 44:08is more like pasta out in the garden.
- 44:11We eat even more pasta than we already do in in the summer, but
- 44:16we'll go and eat outside a lot. So but it kind of like changes
- 44:20pace from, I don't know, like, like red sauce and like
- 44:25Bolognese or lasagna to more like pesto pasta or catcher or
- 44:30Pepe or, you know, just kind of more.
- 44:33It just has a different vibe because we'll eat it outside and
- 44:36we'll have a glass of wine. Yeah, it's just more, I don't
- 44:42know. That's kind of what spring food
- 44:44is to us. I think I say us.
- 44:46I'm obviously talking about my husband, but that's that screams
- 44:51spring summer to me. Yeah, one thing I have noticed
- 44:54as well is like for me, I drink iced coffee and iced matcha all
- 44:59year, right? Like I don't.
- 45:01Yeah, that's like an actual swap for me.
- 45:03There you go. But for me, I drink.
- 45:05I don't really have hot coffee or hot matcha.
- 45:08What I do have in winter is tea, like your normal English
- 45:13breakfast tea or I love the Yorkshire tea, biscuit brew,
- 45:17stuff like that. But as soon as it it gets to
- 45:19spring and summer I stop having that and I'm much more likely to
- 45:23have an iced bubble tea. Bubble tea you have.
- 45:27Bubble tea. To me.
- 45:29I'd always forgot you fucking drink.
- 45:30It I know it's because I have matcha so often now, right?
- 45:33But to me, like bubble tea and summer hand in hand because it's
- 45:37so fruity and refreshing and like it's like a sweet treat in
- 45:41a way as well. And then also Speaking of sweet
- 45:44treats, I love it when it gets to spring and summer and you can
- 45:46have like ice cream and ice lollies.
- 45:48Oh my God my kids are already starting to ask for ice creams
- 45:51and I swear to God last year I this year I'm going to have to
- 45:55track how much money we spend on ice creams on our weekly food
- 45:58shops because we really get through and my kids don't like
- 46:01cheap ice creams either. My 6 year old daughter have
- 46:04favorite ice cream and mink cornetto and it can't be the
- 46:08cheap saying it has to be and me as well.
- 46:11Look, I love them, but I always used to be able to when they
- 46:13were younger. Younger used to have to buy them
- 46:15and a box would last me the week I'd have 1A night.
- 46:18But now my kids love them as well.
- 46:20So like we get through a box of Cornettos in like 2 days.
- 46:23Yeah, yeah, it was a nightmare. And then last year they
- 46:26obviously released white chocolate Kinder Buenos ice
- 46:29creams, which were insane. Oh my God, they're so good.
- 46:33I also just love like, you know, you get those what they call
- 46:36true fruit and they're like chocolate covered in
- 46:39raspberries. And so like, it's frozen
- 46:40raspberries. I would never eat those.
- 46:42I don't eat fruit. Oh my God, they're so good.
- 46:44Bananas. I didn't know that.
- 46:46They're like raspberries and then they do all the like.
- 46:48I think they do blueberries and stuff as well, but they're like
- 46:51covered in white chocolate and then milk chocolate.
- 46:53I don't know what it is that makes them so much better than
- 46:55making them yourself, but they are incredible.
- 46:58And then also they're frozen, so they're like ice cold.
- 47:01You bite into them and the raspberries like a little bit
- 47:03jammy. So good.
- 47:06And then I also do have these frozen bananas.
- 47:08I think the brand is called like Pookip or something.
- 47:11Pookip. And it's just chocolate.
- 47:14It's just dark chocolate frozen bananas, right?
- 47:17Again, I don't know why they're so much better than when I make
- 47:19them like I used to make these. Myself I have seen on Pinterest
- 47:23all the time there's like sandwich like 2 like slices of
- 47:26banana with a bit of peanut butter in the middle like half
- 47:28dipped in chocolate and they always mean to try and make them
- 47:31and I. Never do.
- 47:32But I might do that this summer. I always used to do the Snickers
- 47:35ones, which is like you slice the banana lengthways and then
- 47:38half it again, so it's like quarter length.
- 47:41And then you put either like you could do peanut butter, you
- 47:44could do like the Biscov spread or like something like that, a
- 47:47layer of that. Then you do dark chocolate on
- 47:50top of it with it, and then you sprinkle some like chopped
- 47:52hazelnuts on top. They're so fucking good because
- 47:54the ice cream, it tastes like ice cream, the banana.
- 47:57But I see guys that I could talk about food all day.
- 48:00Oh my God, I am. I've already made the track,
- 48:04started to make the transition over to the ice strings.
- 48:07Like, my routine has kind of turned from hot tea and coffee
- 48:11all day to now hot coffee in the morning and then in the
- 48:15afternoon. I'll have a nice mature every
- 48:17afternoon now. So I'm already starting to make
- 48:20that transition. And I know as soon as it starts
- 48:22getting warmer, it'll be like, oh, it's all day every day.
- 48:25Yeah, but I do. I love that transition.
- 48:27It is so weird, isn't it? But.
- 48:29One thing we haven't mentioned actually, which I feel like is a
- 48:32very spring, summer thing that I look forward to every year, is
- 48:35picnics. Yes, I love a picnic and you can
- 48:39just go out. Now, see, when you say picnic
- 48:41and then you think of picky food, I'm like a cool, yeah.
- 48:43Then I'm thinking less of like the M&S, like picky bits, which
- 48:47I think of like as hot food. Yeah.
- 48:50And then I go to like traditional like Scotch eggs,
- 48:53cocktail sausages. See, that's the kind of picky
- 48:56bits I mean. Yeah, fine.
- 48:57Yeah, I do. I get what you mean.
- 48:59There is like this is a very British discussion again, guys,
- 49:02so Americans, because I know there is a few of you listening,
- 49:05sorry, but there are two different types of picky bits I
- 49:07feel in the UK. 1 is like, yeah, the party food like halloumi
- 49:12sticks and like mozzarella sticks.
- 49:15Salmon, beer and bread. Yeah.
- 49:16And like you're beige kind of shove in the oven foods, party
- 49:20foods and then the other picky bits.
- 49:22It's like your tapas like little little bits and bobs and your
- 49:26fruit and your cheese. And that's the kind of picky
- 49:29bits. I mean, yeah.
- 49:30So you said crackers and I'd just immediately go Christmas.
- 49:34That's so funny. Yeah, yeah.
- 49:37OK, So guys, I've prepared a little game of Spring Smash or
- 49:40Pass for Tours specifically because I picked these.
- 49:44So obviously I can't do it, but just going to give you these
- 49:47scenarios and obviously you're going to smash or pass them as
- 49:49soon as you can with no like rationale I get.
- 49:52I was stressing. OK, Are you ready reading
- 49:56outside? Smash.
- 49:58Cowboy. Romances smash floral covers.
- 50:02Floral covers pass. Hard pass.
- 50:05Q1 wrap UPS. Smash.
- 50:08Pastel covers. OK, that's it.
- 50:16I feel like pastel covers to end on that night.
- 50:19I it would so depend on the color and like the overall like
- 50:24design and vibe of them. I could definitely go like some
- 50:27cute pastel sheets in a very neutral room.
- 50:30Like if it was, you know, like cute butty yellow stripes of
- 50:34like white. Do you know what you mean?
- 50:35Like something like that that's kind of neutralish I could do.
- 50:39Or even like the I'm trying to get it, but even like the kind
- 50:42of pastel tones of the Playing for Keep series are as long as
- 50:45the. Sheets weren't too much like if
- 50:47they were like overall, like a bit too in your face.
- 50:52Yeah, I couldn't. Yeah, I know it.
- 50:54Depend on design over, you know. Do you know what I mean?
- 50:58Yeah, one thing I do love, which is pastel, is the after light
- 51:04romance special editions of the Ali Hazelwood books.
- 51:07Do you remember I sent sent mine and they're like just these tiny
- 51:11lovely little illustrations. And then the rest of it is like
- 51:13a solid pastel colour, but it's like, it's like those kind of
- 51:16colours where it's almost not quite pastel because it's quite
- 51:19bright. Yeah, I know what you mean.
- 51:21They're really I prefer like a pastel pastel.
- 51:23Interesting. And I think that's the thing
- 51:25with pastel colours is there's a quite actually a broad spectrum
- 51:29of shade think of as pastel. And I like that real like that,
- 51:34almost like icy pastel blue that like icy pastel pink and lilac.
- 51:38And do you know what I mean? Yeah.
- 51:40So that's it. That's the kind of like in the
- 51:42middle one for me. But anyway, we digress.
- 51:45Thank you so much for listening. We hope you absolutely loved it.
- 51:48Again, don't forget to like, share, subscribe in all the
- 51:52places and tell us who you think is going to be the constructors
- 51:57and drivers champions. I'm really intrigued to see not
- 52:00like, who you want because our choices would probably be
- 52:02different. Yeah.
- 52:03Who you think is going to win constructors and Drivers
- 52:06championship this year? And we will see you in a couple
- 52:09of weeks for a new episode. Bye.
