- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Hello, hello, and welcome to another episode of a really good podcast with Greg and Liz.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: And on today's episode, we have a very special guest.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Third time?
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Third time's a charm.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: I think, right?
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: Is this like SNL Five Timers Club?
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, guess you're right behind Guy Doofalls, which, you know, if you're gonna be behind anyone, but I think you and him are the only ones that have been repeat guests.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: So what's I'm in good company?
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Yes, you are, and you're a wonderful guest.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: So I'm happy to have you.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: Today we are talking, we're kicking off the Halloween season, fall season, I guess you could say, with I'm calling this celebo ween.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: I mean the ween is a little questionable, Liz.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: I don't know about the ween.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Craig and I were discussing as a possible option doing a Christmas Halloween mashup movies like Gremlins and Edward Scissorhands.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: And I was like, we can call it Mary Ween.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: And he was like, no.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: I'm going with Celeboween, though.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I don't care.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: It's giving adult room at Hollywood video where I used to work.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So today we're gonna we are gonna talk about a few things that are not celebrity related, but you know, you're always the expert.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: We always love discussing celebs, so you too.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: So I thought that we would just kind of get into it.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: But we have a very loose list of topics.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: We're just gonna go off the cuff and see what happens.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Let's do it.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: So the first thing that we started to talk about was, or that I put on the list was the best celebrities at Halloween.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: And I didn't actually research anything before I made up my list.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: I just kind of wrote a list of things I thought would be interesting.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: And then I tried to do it, and I was like, this is really hard.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: It's truly hard to think about unless you want to talk about Heidi Klum.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: I do want to talk about, unfortunately, I have very negative feelings about Heidi Klum and Halloween, which is crazy because what are your negative feelings on Heidi Klum and Halloween?
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Okay, so my thing is it's it goes even deeper than Heidi Klum.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I don't like when celebrities hire a makeup artist to do their Halloween costumes.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: I think it's it's cheap and it's the opposite of cheap, I'm sure, but you know, it just it doesn't feel right.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: There's no creativity.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Heidi Klum sitting in a chair for five hours getting makeup to look like a worm is not the essence of Halloween to me.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: It's like just buying a costume, which I know a lot of people do.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: It's winning by cheating.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: If you think about it.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: And when did like, why is she the queen of Halloween?
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Is it just because it's her, it's her big party that she does?
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: I feel like there's a lot of other celebs that must host big parties, but maybe she's just the loudest about it.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, she does arguably the best costumes, but it just feels it feels like a rich kid whose parents go and buy them like I don't know, like the actual thing from the movie.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I do know exactly what you mean.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: I feel like Halloween for celebrities is not Halloween for the rest of us.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: Although I would also argue that Halloween, even for us commoners, has become more of it's more for Instagram.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Because a lot of us, I know I've had to do this before, I've been guilty of this.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: You have to explain your costume.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Sometimes it's not super obvious, and maybe it is internet involved or something.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: So you do need to explain it.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: But I think Halloween for celebrities is now more for a post, as opposed to going out and having fun and getting drunk in a wild, inappropriate, skanky costume.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: It's funny because I was actually thinking, I don't even know that some of these go out.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: I think that some of them just do a photo shoot.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Some of them probably aren't even on Halloween, and they just save it for Halloween.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Like one of the celebrities I was thinking about that are really good at costumes is the Kardashians.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Yes, I'm thinking this.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: The Kardashians, I'm pretty sure just do it's very rare you actually see them out in the wild in a Halloween costume.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: Now, the there's one Kardashian family themed costume that sticks out to me, and it didn't involve the sisters, it didn't involve Ma Chris Jenner.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: It is Kim and her family, and I don't know if you remember this.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Do you remember when Kim, the kids, and Kanye dressed up as the Flintstones?
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Yes, but that you like you weren't sure that it was Kanye in there?
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes, I knew you were.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: It was the dinosaur, right?
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: And and I don't know why that definitely lives rent-free for me because even at that time, like this was before he went way off the deep end, but this was sort of he was on shaky ground at the time, and it was just and because at that time there wasn't a lot of positivity, it was just like a lot of hard feelings happening.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: And the fact that this man with such hard feelings and a hard exterior was dressed as a purple dinosaur was so funny to me.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: But there was also the speculation that he was because this was when there was speculation that they were getting divorced.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: This was when they were still together, and there was speculation that it wasn't even him.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: I think because of the height of the dinosaur, I want to say.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: Right, because he's a little guy, he's five eight, maybe on a good day.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: So they thought that, and if anyone's gonna do it, it's gonna be Kim that is gonna bring in her maybe her bodyguard or someone to dress up as this.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: And I I'm leaning towards that's probably what happened.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Although I do kind of feel like at some point, because this was three or four years ago, I want to say, it was he would have come, he would have come out and said, like, I wasn't the purple dinosaur.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: So I mean, like, I just love anything that we can leave up to interpretation.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I think that, yeah, I agree with you.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: The Kardashians do a pretty decent job of Halloween, but again, even for them, it's more for the post rather than the party.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, oh, absolutely.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: I did come up with a few people that I think are a good example of what I do love about Halloween.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: One of them, this is not actually Halloween, but the Queen of Costumes, Sierra Miller.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you have to give Sierra credit.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: If anyone doesn't know, she's on Bravo, she's on Summer House, and she's now, due to scandal, she's transported into basically, I would say, B plus A minus celebrity.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: She's getting Ariana Maddox treatment.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Summerhouse is one of the things they do is they have these big, huge theme parties.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: And Sierra is arguably one of she's definitely the most beautiful person on Bravo, arguably one of the most beautiful people in the world.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: And she consistently she will dress up as whatever the ugliest costumes, she'll dress up as the Lorax.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: She's just Lorax stands out to me.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: Yep, she never chooses like a hot girl costume, and I love that.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, I my favorite thing to do is dress up as a man for Halloween because I think it's funny.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Many of you may have seen I dressed up as Larry Bird one year, and classic.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: I've never felt more beautiful.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: I think it's funny.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: I think it's so much better than anything else that you can do.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: And so I think that I really appreciate when someone like Sierra, who easily could, you know, she's a goof.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Like she always chooses.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: I can't even think of some of the she dressed up as a didn't she dress up as a rat for the medieval times party?
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: She may have.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: I'll give you a quick example.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: She did a crossover, which I really appreciate when celebrities on Dancing with the Stars.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: Yes, Karma Brown.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: When they acknowledge that they do have a life outside of Dancing with the Stars.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: What bothers, and I, you know, Dancing with the Stars is one of my all-time favorite shows, but what bothers me sometimes is when celebrities almost play down what their actual life is outside of the show and what their job is.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: And I love that Sierra said, no, we're gonna run back Karma Brown for the summer, yeah, for the summer house fans who have never watched Dancing with the Stars before and who are now just watching for Sierra.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: And I thought that that was playing fan service.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: And what I also love is Sierra commits to the character.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: And she's not an actress, she's a reality star.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: She doesn't necessarily even know how to commit, but or trained to commit.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: She knows how to do it.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: And the entire time on Dancing with the Stars, even in like when they had to go up and talk to Hi Alfonso to Julianne, he was fully committed to the Karma Brown character with the grill and everything.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: I that's such a good pick on Sierra Miller.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, absolutely.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: And they do that.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: That's one of the best things about Summerhouse because the whole concept is it's a group of friends who have a summer house.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: They come out every weekend and they have these big theme parties, as we said.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: And the best part about it is they still have all their drama.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: So you're seeing them sitting there in these wild costumes, like crying, having these huge fights, and it's just hilarious.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: And the thing about Dancing with the Stars is it's not like when you're on Dancing with the Stars, you've reached a level of celebrity.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of B, C, sometimes even borderline D list celebrities.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: So, like to act like you're above your reality show or above your 90s sitcom that you were on is crazy because that's why you're there.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: You lean in.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: And that's because that's that's how you get your votes.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: That's how you get the fan base behind you.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: To your point about Summer House, my favorite thing sometimes is in the trailers for the upcoming season when Kyle's having the most emotional moment.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: Summer should be fun or whatever it is.
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: He's always in the goofiest costume.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: So to your point, I love when they're in these vulnerable positions, dressed like a rat from the medieval times.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: It's the best.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: It's the best.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: So another one I want to talk about is the Today Show.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: I love the Today Show Halloween costumes.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Some years I get a little disappointed.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: I don't like when they separate and they do their own thing.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: I like when they do, and it doesn't have to be all one thing.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: I like when they do, say, all musical acts or all, I'm trying to think of some other things.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: They did, I think they did like Snoopy maybe one year.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: And it doesn't, you know what I love?
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: It doesn't necessarily have to be relevant for something that's very big at the time.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: They could do Wizard of Oz isn't a great example because of the popularity of Wicked the last few years, but something like that, they could do Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: And it's still like, but I love the commitment to the character again because these are the type of people who are usually so buttoned up.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: But then you slap a mustache and a wig on them and they become a completely different person.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: And they have so many different there's so much diversity in the cast with like young, old, different races, everything that it always, there's always something for everybody.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: But then I do like when they go off the cuff a little bit and they make like Al Rokart be something crazy.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: And I love that they seem to always be down.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: No other morning show on TV really does it like them.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: Like Good Morning America.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: They try.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: I don't even know if CBS Mornings wants to do it, but Kelly and Kelly they do, but they do too much.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: It's it's over the top.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: It's like there's like 10 different costumes in each one, and you can't fully appreciate it.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: And they do a lot of the, I mean, I know they all do the special effects and everything, but I feel like they do a lot of the like leaning more into more cliche pop culture moments kind of things.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: You know, so I think what they do is either they have someone who is just part of their job is fully to just keep track of the big pop culture moments of the year and then keep record of that, and or they just do a good old chat search, Google search, and say, what were the top 10 pop culture moments?
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: Like the iced coffee that Gen Z takes to job interviews, like it's stuff like that.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: But and do they do that over the course of days?
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: Like, is that a filming?
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: I think I think some of it because they they're not in studio in a lot of the costumes, they do like sketches, which is what I don't all of a sudden get their SNL on.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Yes, I know, and another couple that I know you're gonna laugh at me because I talk about them all the time.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: You know, I love them.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: No, why did they do Halloween?
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Did you see they got married?
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: No, because we talk about them so we do we do talk about I just saw they they announced they got married yesterday, and I was like, okay.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: Not that I'm not happy for them.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: I want I'm I am happy for them.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: I just I don't know, something about them.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: But no, Sarah Highland and Wells Adams.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: They do an incredible so they announce their relationship dressed as Stranger Things.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: This was like 2016, 2017.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: It was probably almost 10 years ago.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: But what they do is they always switch it.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: So they have like she was dressed as what is the little boy with the Gavin?
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: No, what's his the yeah, yeah.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: No, his his real name is like the the one with the curly hair.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: I think that's a little lisp.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: I can't remember who she was dressed as him, and Wells was dressed as Eleven, and that's like just a picture of them dressed up.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: That's how they announced their relationship.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: And then they did one year they did Taco Bell, and Sarah dressed as a taco, and he dressed as Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's brilliant.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: And then another year after they got married, they dressed as the Adams family.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: Oh, and Wells Adams, because they're the Adams family, yeah.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: So I have to give them a shout-out because that's the kind of thing that I love is coming up with a creative idea and just like getting the costume on your own or making it not taking yourself seriously, yeah.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: Now, let me ask you this: you are a mom, you have two daughters.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: I have three kids.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: Oh, I have three kids, that's weird.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Yes, you have three kids.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: You know, I forget sometimes.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: You have technically several children.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I have a whole crew going on here.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: What kind of parent, like costumer are you?
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Do you buy your kids costumes?
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Do you when they were babies, like did you get creative with it?
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: Were you more of like, let me throw them in a pumpkin?
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: What it what's your style?
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: I always thought I was gonna be so creative with my kids.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: I thought we were gonna do full family themes, just because I've always taken Halloween very seriously on a personal level.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: I've always really been proud of the fact that I never buy my costume.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: I mean, I buy things for the costume, but I piece it together.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: You're not sewing a blazer, you know?
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: I'm absolutely not.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: I nobody wants to see the blazer I would sew.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: However, for my kids, I really I don't want to say I phone it in.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: I when they were babies, of course, one of them was an avocado, the other one was a raccoon, which is funny because I'm scared of raccoons, so it was a joke.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: But every year I just ask them what they want to be, and then I prime it.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: And I wish I could, I wish I could sit here and say, Oh, we go all out.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: Like, we're gonna be the cast, they're gonna be rug rats, like we're gonna do like a Nicktoons 90s theme.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: Like, I I aspire to do that one day.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I aspire to have an awesome trunk for trunk or treat.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: Like my seven-year-old keeps asking to do a trunk for their trunk or treat.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: And I have I'm just my head's not in it.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: And oh my god, you know what I did last year that was absolutely brilliant.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: Uh, took about seven seconds.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: I did stuffyville and I made up a sign that said stuffyville, and then I took all of Dylan's stuffed animals and I just put it in the trunk, and then I put some of those like the battery operated lights in there, and that was yeah.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: And did you give them away so that you wouldn't have to do that?
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: No, no, are you kidding me?
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: I absolutely not.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: She would have murdered me.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: But like everyone was like, Oh my god, this is so great.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: And like, how many stuffed animals do you have in your house?
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: A thousand?
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: No, a million.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: That is that is really, really smart.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: So, no, every year, I mean, and what I've noticed is the kid they change their minds about what they want to be.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: So, even though you don't want to get them last minute because then that would stank, I just try to say, All right, we're gonna commit to this, yeah, and that's it.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: And then Tony, my husband like always wants to do a couple's like every year, he's like, You sure you don't want to do?
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: I don't.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: I am an independent woman on Halloween, and I think sometimes couples' costumes are corny.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like I I'm just not uh super into that.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: I like to do my own thing on Halloween.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: The kids are in store-bought costumes.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: Could that change in the next few years?
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Maybe.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: I actually think it gets less like you make the costume as they get old.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Like my kids' costumes when they were babies were unbelievable.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: I made Crosby an actual transformer costume.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: I remember that.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: Now, let me tell you, I spent weeks working on this.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: It had working lights, it was like a cardboard box that he liked.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: I sewed tires to go on it.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: And we got to our friend's house and he transformed once for everybody, and then he was like, I'm not wearing this and took it off.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: And I was like, This is I'm never doing this again, like ever again.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: But like Dylan was a little bit better.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: I remember I did the troll doll and I used her actual hair.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: So cute.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: So, like with Remy, I know I only have maybe two more years after this.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: So I have this year, and then I have maybe a year or two before she starts getting really particular about her costume.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: So for Halloween, I think she has a red cape, a red hooded cape.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: So I think I might just do little red riding hood.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: And I'm trying to convince Crosby to be the grandma.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: I think I've gotten him there.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: I'm like, that's hilarious.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: Really cute.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: And now part of me thinks you had a third kid just to redeem yourself for Halloween and the Transformers costume.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, now Dylan's like, she's like, I want to be a cat.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: I want to be, she told me she wanted to be a skeleton mermaid.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: But she sees these on Amazon, and I'm like, I'm not gonna make an emperor.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: Because also, now that there's trunk or treat, she wants to do a Wizard of Oz theme trunk or treat, so I have to come up with costumes for that.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: There's like eight different things that we have to come up with costumes for.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: So I can't I can't put that much effort into each individual one.
- 17:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I I feel like for at least for my kids, they want to wear this costume a few times because they want to get the use out of it.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: So I'm happy in a way that we have the trunk or treat and also Halloween itself, but no, we don't take it as seriously as I thought I was going to.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: Hmm, imagine that.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: Imagine that concept.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: You think things are gonna go one way before you're a parent, and then you become a parent and they're not the way you thought they were gonna be.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: Now, for popular costumes this year, I think we should make some predictions about what we think about popular costume.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, what do you think?
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: Okay, so obviously for kids last year it was Cape Pop Demon Hunter.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: I think that's gonna, I think that's gonna spill over.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: I think it might a little bit, not as crazy as it was.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: We had a million of them last year.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: Million roomies, all roomies.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, main character energy, you know it.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think that like the descendants, the wicked wonderland, that's gonna be big for the kids.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: Now, for the adults, I got two words for you.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: Okay, heated rivalry.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: I actually I just added that on.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: I said hockey romance because I also think off campus is gonna get a big one.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, hockey romance, I think, will be a big one.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: I was thinking the Savannah bananas are gonna pop out this year.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: That is so good.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: So, actually, idea for a family the parents can go Savannah bananas, kids could either be bananas, that would be cute, like actual bananas, or minions.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: It's the same shade of yellow.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: I was thinking for the kids, there might be an uptick in Toy Story because you're right.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: We had a Toy Story come out this year, and then for the parents, I was thinking maybe some Odyssey inspired costumes.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: I think so.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: That might pop up a little bit.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: Odyssey, Odyssey, totally.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: I never saw is it obsession?
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, obsession I had on there too, but it's not really much of a costume, and I didn't see the movie to really get it yet.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: So I have to report back because that seems to be that was very popular this year to the point where the main character, the lead, is hosting SNL.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: And this had never happened before that I didn't recognize and I had to Google the host of an upcoming SNL guest or I'm sorry, host.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: And that was a very humbling moment for me.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: I felt like everyone else who was posting about how they were too old to be watching the VMAs the other day, that got so old, by the way.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: I was so annoyed by that.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: I did not watch the VMAs.
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: I would think for you, like I mean, you work at Night You Pro F M.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: It's like the ultimate everything that's gonna be on the VMAs.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: Although I will say, you did post about that video with the all the men.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: And I what did I think that it was?
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: I thought it was oh that the the oh god, baby, baby girl, baby doll.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: It's a song that I keep seeing on like TikTok, and like all these very low-scale celebrities like Joey from The Bachelor and one of the Savannah Bananas come and they like do a TikTok with him and like do this stance that goes along with it.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: But it was some video, what was it, hammer, slammer, something like that?
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: I still don't really understand.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: That was the one part of the VMAs I was so out on.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: I what I was getting annoyed by was the so many people posting about how they don't know anybody on the VMAs, and that got so old after a while.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Anyway, so obsession definitely Widows Bay.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: I think Widows Bay is gonna have a big Halloween.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: I haven't started watching it yet because I want to though.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: I I definitely I love Matthew Rise.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: I've loved Matthew Rise ever since he was on Brothers and Sisters.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you were a big brothers and sisters.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Big Brothers and Sisters fan.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: I don't know that I've seen much that he's been on since then.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: I never watched The Americans, but uh just the chemistry between him and Carrie Russell and all these videos is enough to make me want to watch more.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: And so crazy how at the Emmys he won for drama and comedy.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Were people mad about that?
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: People are always gonna be mad about anything, but Widows Bay is great because when you watch it, immediately it reminded me of Parks and Wreck.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: But obviously with a scary twist.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: And it turns out the writer was a writer on Parks and Wreck.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: That'll do it.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: So there's a few costumes you could be.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: So for those who watched Widows Bay on Apple, it is that sort of hybrid of comedy horror fictional town off of Massachusetts, a lot of New England references, but it's a very spooky place, very haunted.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: So is it is it like creepy, like folly feeling?
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: So it's perfect to watch this time of year.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: That's what I was thinking.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: Very, very creepy.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: But there's a couple costumes that you could do.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: So Ruth is a Ruth is a very essential part of the plot, and she's an older woman.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: I you Oh, she's in that picture.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Yep, yep, yep.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: When you want to convey how old you are, yeah.
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: Do a picture of Ruth with the sweater or sweatshirt, whatever she she's wearing in the headphones.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: That's a big costume.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: Patricia Sunset Cocktails with Patricia, another key scene, another key storyline.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: She had this big, almost like antler thing on her head.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: That's gonna be a big costume.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: So Widows Bay, I think, is gonna have a big year.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna check it out for sure.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: So let's move on to the importance of the celebrity pumpkin patch paparazzi shoot.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: Now, anyone who has ever opened an Us Weekly in the last 20 years has seen the celebrity pumpkin patch paparazzi shoot.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: It's interesting because it's all in LA.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: And I remember I used to read this gossip column, and they would always be like, There's so many pumpkin patches in LA.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Like there's so many places you can go, but they all go to the, I think it's called Mr.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Bones.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: It's like right in the dead center of LA.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: It's always the same one.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: It's literally like, I think it's like that, you know that weird sushi place that's like upstairs that they always you always see like kind of grainy pictures of celebrities.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: It's the same kind of thing.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: Like you go to the pumpkin patch to convey this, like it's almost like free PR to say, like, I'm a great family person.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: Look at look at us.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: I'm wholesome.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm wholesome.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: It's a big status symbol, I think, as well.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: But it's a rite of passage for celebrities.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: But also, like, I don't know.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I wonder because we're so locked into this.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: Like, we know not everything, but you can't get a lot of stuff past us in terms of like doing PR stuff at this point.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I I wonder, do other people realize that?
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: Like these people, it's LA, it's 90 degrees out.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: You're innocent.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: That's why it's always so funny to see them do these fall-like things.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: Like the pumpkin patch thing always gets me.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Did they still do that?
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: Like, were they still doing that?
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: I don't know, because you're not getting the same coverage of it.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: No, no, you're really not.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: It's it's also like when going back to the Kardashians.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: Sorry to just keep no bring them up.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: I love when they have fake snow, like at their Christmas parties and stuff.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: It's again, and they're it's probably 85 degrees and they're still in their crushed velvet body con dresses.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: But the celebrity pumpkin patch, shoot, it you're so right.
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: It's always at it was always at that one place.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: I'm wondering now if like the people that owned that Mr.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Bones place had some kind of deal with a lot of the celebs.
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: Take pictures here.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: A little, I don't know like what would be in it.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: I guess just like the press for Mr.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: Bones, basically.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's kind of the equivalent of the COVID walk when you couldn't go anywhere.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: So, like, they would who was it?
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: Sean Mendez and Camilla Cabello with Yes.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Tom Cruise was a walker.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: Oh no, Ben Affleck.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: Ben Affleck and Ben Affleck, big walker during the COVID times.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: Who was he dating at that point?
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: Was that was it it wasn't Anna De Armis, was it?
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: I think it was, but or were they just in that movie together?
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: They might have been.
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: There's about 11 Anna Day Armises, by the way.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you've been noticing this, but Anna Dearmas comes in so many different versions of her.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: It's it's I'm not all I'm saying is there's so many women that date celebrities that look like Anna Dearmas, but are not Anna Day Armis.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: Like Brad Pitt's current girlfriend could be her.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: Chris Evans married somebody, also could be her.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like I will say though, I've always thought that brunettes are just like on a different level.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: Like if you're a beautiful brunette, because like blondes, it's like you you make a splash, you know, it's got you have that hair and you're drawn to it.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: Your eyes are drawn to it.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: As someone who's been brunette and blonde, like you get a lot more attention right off the gate if you're a blonde, but if you're a beautiful brunette, it's a whole different league.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: And you've got a high stock price, yeah.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: Because you're not doing anything extra, really, to be attractive, you know.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: Like two words for you again.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Jenna Dewan.
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: Well, minus the tweaking of the face.
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's a completely different thing.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: Aside from the last few years, a Jenna, I always thought this about Jenna Dewan.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: I was always kind of like, you know what?
- 26:15SPEAKER_01: Good for her.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: She landed at the time, Canning Tatum was an extremely hot commodity.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: And the fact that they landed each other, I thought was a significant deal.
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: He easily could have been with a blonde.
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, definitely.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: Side note, what do you think about his his finsta?
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: Do you think that that's real?
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: I don't think that that was really.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: I think that that just took on a life of its own because we all could you can see that being a reality.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: Unfortunately for Channing Tatum, we all could totally buy into the fact that he would have a Finsta where he only says negative things about Zoe Kravitz and whoever.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: And that's funny.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: We could see Channing Tatum doing that.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: When you star in movies like the Jump Street movies, we're not gonna take you as seriously as like a Johnny Depp or something.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: So that's why it was so fun.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: It was a fun rumor, but no, I don't really think that was him.
- 27:05SPEAKER_00: No.
- 27:05SPEAKER_00: So there was a thing going around that he had a fake insta, and it was like all of these comments and likes.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: And I think that's so funny because Me too.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: I I just love the idea of these celebrities because you know they do it, you know, and like I go on Reddit a good amount, not like a ton, but you see these comments, and you're like, Oh, these has got to be somebody that knows them or something, because like, why are you and then you go and look at their all their replies and it's all about the same topic.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: It's like, why are you this invested?
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: I I get passionate about things, but like not one single celebrity or topic, you know.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: Oh god, no, I can only imagine.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: I was thinking Jennifer Lawrence probably.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: I think I don't remember if she admitted to it, but she definitely had a burner for a while.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she did.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: Now she has a real one, and like that's not fun.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: I was kind of sad that she came out and and had it's it's weird to me.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: Like, I'll give you a Jennifer Aniston as an example, when these big time celebrities have I don't want my A-listers having Instagram.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like I don't this is why celebrity has gone downhill so much because it used to be you had a separation, so you only would see them in magazines.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: You only now it's like the idea, like when people always cause Taylor Swift, her account, I'm assuming it's not her, she likes a lot of stuff, like a lot of videos and stuff.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: And I people get so excited.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: I'm like, do you do we really think that this is her?
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: Like, so I do think she does some of it, but I don't know.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: It's tree.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, it's tree, or probably not even tree, because she's got a lot on her plate, too.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: She does.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: Tree is so busy.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: We're talking about Taylor's PR person.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: She's had the same PR person, right?
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: Like almost the entire her name is Tree Payne, which is crazy.
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: Is that really her name, you think?
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: Do you think she's like Teresa?
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: I think she was she's absolutely born a Teresa.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Teresa Payne sounds like someone I could have gone to high school with, and one day was like, actually, I'm Raquel.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're gonna it's like that um quote the interview that Stasi did where she was talking about how she like wanted to name her kids something weird because she was the only Saucy.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: And she, you know, it's she did that, she sure did.
- 29:16SPEAKER_00: She did that twice, yeah.
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: Messer in Hartford.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: In Hartford, Hartford isn't as bad though, in terms of at least it's like an actual, I don't know.
- 29:25SPEAKER_01: Place.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, Brooklyn, like what's the difference between a Hartford and a Brooklyn, you know?
- 29:31SPEAKER_00: Like realistically.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: You definitely see more Brooklyn's though than Hartford's.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: So maybe she did she actually for a girl too.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: That's the interesting thing.
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: What she wanted to do with Hartford and absolutely did it with Messer.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I what kind of nickname?
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: Like, do you get a nickname for Hartford?
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: Are you just Hartford forever?
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: Hardy Hart.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: Hardy is a horrible nickname, but you might have to be Hardy.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: You might, you might.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: So let's talk about some of the shows, movies, the things that are very Halloween and fallish.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: So I know that you you're a fall girly, right?
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: Fall girly by necessity, I suppose.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: I will always be a summer fan.
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: Like I I hold on to summer so deeply.
- 30:15SPEAKER_01: I love that Mother Nature trolls us.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: Like the next couple days are gonna be in the 80s.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Well, whatever, you know what I mean.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: Weather wise, he loves to throw us curveballs.
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: And I always feel like those are little gifts for me and the people who love summer.
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: So in terms of fall, I love the permission to not have to shave my legs and have a pedicure.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: Those are two highlights for me, or even like shaving my armpits, like I can hide them when it's fall, so it's nice.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: But other than that, I don't like the changing of the season.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: I'm not one of these, like, I am gonna go buy some moms this year, but I'm not gonna take care of them.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I never buy moms.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: That's interesting because I had a theory that people that are born in the fall love fall.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: So you just blew that out of the water.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: Um, no.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: I including you would think I would have such an affinity for Thanksgiving because I share a birthday around Thanksgiving one of two ways.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: It does nothing for me.
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it does not it I I feel so unattached.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: Well, it's also like your birthday probably gets a little bit eclipsed by Thanksgiving, you know, like you have to plan your party around Thanksgiving.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: Or I could it could have gone the other way.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: Like I could have been obsessed with Thanksgiving.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: But now, ever since we started hosting it in 2016, so we're going on like 10 years of hosting it, Thanksgiving has become more of a headache for me than something to look forward to.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: I did it once for five people, never again.
- 31:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: No, I if I could go back, I wouldn't.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: But we're we're in it now.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: We're committed.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, really?
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: So you're you're locked in.
- 31:40SPEAKER_01: Are you a fall girly?
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: I love the fall.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, I like the I like the summer.
- 31:45SPEAKER_00: Like Memorial Day weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the year because it's going into the summer.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: I love a lot of the summer stuff, but the fall with the you know, coziness of it, I really enjoy that a lot more.
- 31:58SPEAKER_00: I love sitting on the couch watching a movie.
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: One of my friends, her daughter is one of Crosby's best friends, and she will come over and we'll just sit on the couch and watch movies and let the kids play.
- 32:09SPEAKER_00: That's fun.
- 32:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and like that, like I love that whole time of year.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: Like October to Christmas, I is probably, I would say, maybe my favorite time of year because I love all the stuff that goes along with it, but I do love the summer.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: January through I'd say April is just miserable, miserable.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: And it's also tax season, so I'm a full-time parent by myself.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so there's that that goes into it, but I do have a special affinity.
- 32:36SPEAKER_00: That has most of the nostalgia tacked onto it, I would say, than any other time.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and my kids are turning into like Halloween super fans, by the way.
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: So that's my husband.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: He's very much into horror movies and 80s movies and anything associated.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: He's he's also not a summer fan, he is a tall, red-headed white man who gets very sweaty.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Tucker's just saying hates the beach.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, won't go to the beach.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: We'll only went to the beach one time and it was after four o'clock.
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: That's what we have to do.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna say Tucker, I don't think has ever been to the beach in Rhode Island with us.
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: Like, we went to Jamaica and our our hotel was on the beach.
- 33:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we were at the pool like every day, and finally, one day we were like, we went to the beach.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: Finally, like walk down there, and the kids are in the water, whatever, and he's just standing there.
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: I was like, Tucker, go in the water with your kids.
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: Like, like participate.
- 33:28SPEAKER_00: I'm not making you make a sand castle, but like just we're in Jamaica, like spend 20 minutes in the water.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: It's beautiful, like the weather's the water's warm.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: Like, you can do this, I promise.
- 33:38SPEAKER_00: Like, it's okay.
- 33:39SPEAKER_01: 20 years from now on the therapy couch.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: So, when did when did a lot of this start for you?
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: When dad wouldn't go in the ocean with me.
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: Go in the ocean in Jamaica.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: In Jamaica, that's when it all started.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: No, that's not that's not his jam, but he has a lot of other he's a pool guy, and I'm I'm fine with the pool.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: I don't yeah, I I'm not gonna sit there.
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: I'm not the fun mom when it comes to that kind of stuff.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: So, like, he takes over all that.
- 34:02SPEAKER_00: He's throwing them, he's in the pool for hours at a time, so we balance each other out, you know.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: Um but if there's sand involved, forget it.
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: He's just he gets really bored, I think is what it is that there's not that much to do at the beach.
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: And to be honest, like with kids, I'm not a huge beach fan.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: I'd rather not, I'd rather go to a lake or a pool if I had to choose.
- 34:24SPEAKER_01: I have been able to achieve so far children who are I can tolerate them so much at the beach.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: They they are great at the beach, and I would have been so disappointed if it was the other way.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but yeah, they love they they love decorating the house, they love watching all of the not super scary movies, but like for example, I know we're gonna get into it, but hocus pocus, right?
- 34:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so we've been able to watch it not all the way through.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: I truly want to avoid the virgin conversation.
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, to be honest with you, my kids are like so much older now and they still don't even really it goes over their head.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: It doesn't even go over their head, they just like don't care, they don't even like think about it.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: So I'm not significant enough, but you could also like go with the, you know, it's somebody who's never had kids, it's somebody who's never, you know, like stuff like that.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I can talk, we watch Modern Family, so like sex comes up good amount shows like that on the stuff that we watch now, so like they know about it.
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: Like, I could say to my kids, like, oh, it's someone who's never had sex, and they wouldn't really bad an eye, you know.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: But like I found with stuff like that, the way that you gotta do it is you just have to be like super matter-of-fact.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: This is what happens, this is how it is, like with the baby conversation.
- 35:41SPEAKER_00: I'm like, this is here and here and whatever.
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: And if you just say it like it's very technical, like they're not gonna be like, Oh, well, what does that mean?
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: They kind of like hate it and don't even want to talk about it anyway.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: I remember when Cosby asked me about something like that after I explained it to him, he's like, I kind of wish I hadn't even asked.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: Regrets, like, I don't really want to talk about this.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: So, like, they don't want to talk about sex stuff with you, even when they know what it is.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: So, like, Dad wouldn't go swimming with me in Jamaica, mom talk to me about sex.
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 36:12SPEAKER_00: So, like, I wouldn't worry about that that much.
- 36:14SPEAKER_00: We did one of those murder, you know, those murder mystery games that have the file folder on the front, and it's like the picture of the girl, and it's like uh whatever.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: We played one of those that I thought they could handle, and Dylan, it was about two and a half years ago, and she to this day still sleeps in our bed from that because she doesn't want to sleep in her room because it's the closest to the stairs.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: Which granted, I think we've gone beyond being scared, and now it's just like this is where they sleep, and then I sleep in her room alone, and it's actually kind of nice.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: So I'm not like in a rush to change it, but I don't push the I don't tow the line.
- 36:45SPEAKER_00: Like Crosby went to a sleepover and they were talking about watching scary movies, and he's like, I don't want to do that.
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: He's not like I'm gonna get talked into this.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: He's like, I know I don't want to do that, and then I was like, Well, what movies were you talking about?
- 36:58SPEAKER_00: Because I think that you could potentially watch a Friday the 13th, you know?
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: He's 12, like he's in middle school, so it's like that's when you watch stuff like that.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: That's yeah, that's when we watch stuff like that, and it's so unrealistic, whatever.
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: And then he was talking about how they were talking about obsession, and I was like, Whoa, I was like, Listen, you can watch a scary movie, you can't watch a scary movie that was made uh after 2000 because it's no realistic.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, all right, I'll give you an example.
- 37:25SPEAKER_01: We tried to watch Little House on the Prairie, the new little house on the prairie.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: Five minutes in, spoiler alert, there's a scene where horses fall in the water.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: That was the most devastating thing for my kids.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: So that's the barometer that I'm at right now.
- 37:39SPEAKER_01: So I have to really tread a little bit lightly.
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: I but I say that, but then at the same time, like they were watching what were they watching with Tony?
- 37:46SPEAKER_01: They do watch Gremlins, so like it it all depends on what the situation is, I think.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like my kids don't think Return to Oz is scary.
- 37:54SPEAKER_00: They're like, why would this be scary?
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: I was like, Are you kidding me?
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm terrified of this.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: I think I only saw it once.
- 38:01SPEAKER_01: Tony still talks about the mark it had on him.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: No, absolutely.
- 38:05SPEAKER_00: Crosby, I remember we watched Guardians of the Galaxy, and the thing that stuck out to him was like the mom dying of cancer.
- 38:11SPEAKER_00: Like that was what was like the horrifying part.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: Or like we tried to watch Deadpool, and like five minutes in, he was like, No, I can't do that.
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: No, but like he knows his limits, so my kids like know where they can like him.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: They're very self-aware.
- 38:22SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, but now that you mentioned Hocus Pocus, let's talk about the nostalgic sequel.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: So we have Hocus Pocus came out with another one a few years ago, Practical Magic just came out with one.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: Both sequels, I haven't watched Practical Magic, I haven't seen it.
- 38:35SPEAKER_00: It does not seem as though it is getting good reviews.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: Did it not just come and go?
- 38:41SPEAKER_01: Like it was the quickest.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: There was so much hype.
- 38:44SPEAKER_01: Here's the thing, and I think we've talked about this with reboots before, and I will always stand 10 toes down on this about reboots.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: The excitement and the possibility of the reboot is so much more exciting than the reboot itself.
- 38:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it always sounds like a much better idea in theory than in practice.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like the Hocus Pocus 2 one, it just didn't give the same feeling.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: And it's funny because it was filmed in the same place.
- 39:11SPEAKER_00: And I I actually had an a theory that part of the problem is the changing of like the climate and the fact that New England, when they filmed it, I want to say it was like September, maybe when they filmed it.
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: It was in the fall though.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it just didn't have that like New England feeling to it.
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: And I'm wondering if it's because you have you know, October 1st, it's gonna be 75 degrees out or whatever.
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: No, it's a it's actually such a great point.
- 39:36SPEAKER_01: I think I was really excited about Hocus Pocus too because it so much was filmed in Rhode Island.
- 39:41SPEAKER_01: And obviously, a lot of us have built brands over everything Rhode Island, and I couldn't wait to see the filming of them on Federal Hill or in Lincoln.
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: So I was anticipating it in a different reason, but as somebody who loved Hocus Pocus from the very beginning, because you if you remember about Hocus Pocus, it wasn't exactly, I guess looking back on it, a big hit when it initially came out.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: This is what happens with a lot of these movies sometimes.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: And I think Halloween, the holiday, needed something wholesome to attach itself to.
- 40:11SPEAKER_01: Christmas has a million movies, you know, Easter probably has a few.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: But Halloween, of course, they've they're scary movies, but it didn't really have that wholesome family movie.
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: So Halloween attached itself to Hocus Pocus, and vice versa.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: And so so many of us grew up, the millennials really ushered Hocus Pocus.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: They really hung on to that on a pedestal, on a pedestal.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: And I still love watching it to this day, but I'm so with you.
- 40:39SPEAKER_01: The the sequel didn't hold up.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: They're talking about doing a third one, and it's just not necessary.
- 40:44SPEAKER_00: No, and I also think some of the makeup was intense, and I'm wondering if it's the cameras now, you know, it's just the camera, it's too much.
- 40:53SPEAKER_01: And the work, the work that some of the actresses have had.
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: Like it's hard to see Sarah Jessica Parker in this role.
- 41:00SPEAKER_01: It is.
- 41:00SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, that's a brilliant point.
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: I wanted to talk about this.
- 41:03SPEAKER_01: So when Hocus Pocus came out, obviously that was pre-sex in the city, that is pre-defining the role of your life, right?
- 41:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:12SPEAKER_01: So obviously, we'll always associate Sarah Jessica Parker.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: She'll always be Carrie.
- 41:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:18SPEAKER_01: So then seeing her in Hocus Pocus too, it's less about Sarah, the character, and more, oh, look, it's Carrie Broadshaw in drag, basically.
- 41:26SPEAKER_00: And you feel like she must have the whole time been like, oh God, why am I here?
- 41:30SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't want to do this.
- 41:31SPEAKER_00: Like it doesn't feel like she was excited.
- 41:33SPEAKER_00: Bet Midler and Kathy Najimi.
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: Is that how you say it?
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: Najimi, yep.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: Najimi.
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: They felt more natural in these roles.
- 41:41SPEAKER_00: It didn't feel so out of place for them.
- 41:42SPEAKER_00: It felt very, very especially her being a supporting character.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: Have you ever seen the interview with Kathy Najimi and Katie Curk from The Today Show back when she, I think, was promoting Hocus Pocus about the witch in 1993?
- 41:54SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 41:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:56SPEAKER_01: It was she was really ahead of her time, just talking about so much of the women's movement, the witches, of course, and what happened to witches back in the day, but she was really progressive.
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: And it's interesting.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: We actually did a two-part episode on witches a couple years ago on the podcast.
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: And there is so much tied to like political stuff with the witches.
- 42:17SPEAKER_00: Like, if you accuse someone of witchcraft and they were found guilty, you were able to take their land.
- 42:24SPEAKER_00: So part of the reason why people would do it is just because they wanted to take over or to get their husbands, or the witches were actually like doing medical work and people didn't like that.
- 42:34SPEAKER_00: It's very interesting how much of it is really tied on like oppressing women.
- 42:40SPEAKER_00: And she really nailed that.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: That's actually where I got the inspiration for the episode was from that one.
- 42:45SPEAKER_00: But I heard the practical magic one too.
- 42:47SPEAKER_00: They didn't like use the same sets.
- 42:50SPEAKER_00: You have to really hone in.
- 42:52SPEAKER_00: Like I would have loved to see the prequel when they go in the beginning of Pocus Pocus 2 and they show them when they're young.
- 42:57SPEAKER_00: I would watch a whole movie of that.
- 42:59SPEAKER_00: Me too.
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: They're gonna do a third movie.
- 43:01SPEAKER_00: That's what should be what they should do.
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: The Sanderson Sisters origin story.
- 43:05SPEAKER_00: Yes, absolutely.
- 43:07SPEAKER_00: And then I wanted to say some of the best Halloween episodes.
- 43:12SPEAKER_00: I think Modern Family, as I said, my kids and I just watch Modern Family.
- 43:16SPEAKER_00: It's a lot, and they rewatch it all the time.
- 43:17SPEAKER_00: They love it.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: But they have they have some great, great Halloween episodes.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: My so-called life, that's number one for me.
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: Always.
- 43:24SPEAKER_01: What happened in my so-called life?
- 43:27SPEAKER_00: Angela dresses up as like the 60s girl, and she likes sees the guy in it.
- 43:33SPEAKER_00: I I think I watched the episode on Halloween before I went out trick-or-treating, and it just always stuck with me.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: But it's I mean, my so-called life is the ultimate fall TV show.
- 43:42SPEAKER_00: I you watch it and it's so fall.
- 43:45SPEAKER_01: That's such a take.
- 43:46SPEAKER_01: And is it because Claire Danes has like a fall red color, like a deep red?
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: A lot of flannel, but like just the way it's filmed, it's got that fall vibes to it.
- 43:56SPEAKER_00: I never thought of it.
- 43:57SPEAKER_00: No, you should you should rewatch it.
- 43:59SPEAKER_00: It's Well it was only like what a season?
- 44:02SPEAKER_00: It's 18 episodes, so it's it's a breeze to get through, but you should watch it because it's perfect for this time of year.
- 44:07SPEAKER_00: Um, and it is interesting to watch it.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: Like in one of the episodes, Patty has a pregnancy scare, and I was pregnant when I was watching when I was re-watching it, the mother and I'm like watching it, and I'm like, oh my god, I must have thought she was a thousand years old, and I googled it and she's like 39.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh my god, like this is so bad.
- 44:25SPEAKER_00: But it's so interesting to watch.
- 44:27SPEAKER_00: Was this before or after Patty cut her hair?
- 44:29SPEAKER_00: So Patty cuts her hair in the second episode.
- 44:31SPEAKER_00: So the whole the whole series, she's got the short hair, but seeing it from the adult's point of view, too, because you have the parents.
- 44:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, my kids are the younger daughters the same age as Crosby, so it's wild because you're like watching it from their perspective too.
- 44:47SPEAKER_00: And one thing they did really well on that show is they made the parents stuff interesting.
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: Yes, and I feel like a lot of those shows weren't doing that and still haven't been able to do that.
- 44:58SPEAKER_01: Side note, I never watched the show Secret Life of the American Teenager.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: Did you ever watch that?
- 45:03SPEAKER_00: Neither, but it but it's popping up a lot of my algorithm right now.
- 45:06SPEAKER_01: Me too!
- 45:07SPEAKER_00: I don't know why.
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: This morning, before I like had to get up and get my day started, I laid in bed for five extra minutes watching an episode on TikTok of Molly Googling the storylines.
- 45:20SPEAKER_00: Oh, Molly Ringwald, yep.
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: And oh my god, the one that was with Aaron Rodgers and Shalene Woodley, y'all acting not great.
- 45:28SPEAKER_00: No, and she's such a brat on it, you can tell.
- 45:31SPEAKER_00: She's like awful.
- 45:32SPEAKER_01: You know who else is in it?
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: Uh Franzia, the actress who gave Selena Gomez her kidney, which is a wild story.
- 45:39SPEAKER_01: And Megan Park.
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: Who who gave us such classics as Sterling Points.
- 45:46SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: What else did Megan Park?
- 45:48SPEAKER_00: She did my old ass.
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: The movie.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 45:50SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: So anyway, I know that that's not exactly on topic, but secret life of an American teenager.
- 45:58SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 45:58SPEAKER_01: I'm like, maybe I need to do a watch.
- 46:00SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 46:01SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 46:01SPEAKER_00: I'm like, maybe I should watch it with my kids so they don't get pregnant.
- 46:05SPEAKER_01: And then hide it in really silly ways, like with a trapper keeper.
- 46:10SPEAKER_01: And oh, are your feet swollen?
- 46:12SPEAKER_01: She was like three weeks pregnant, and she's like, My feet are swollen.
- 46:15SPEAKER_00: One of my favorite things is watching a TV show and being like, is that person pregnant?
- 46:19SPEAKER_00: And like trying to catch people being pregnant.
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: And you can usually tell their face has changed a little bit.
- 46:24SPEAKER_00: It gives it away.
- 46:24SPEAKER_00: And like they're wearing the like tent dresses and stuff.
- 46:28SPEAKER_00: They really it's tough to hide.
- 46:30SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 46:30SPEAKER_01: Ann Hathaway on this press tour tours.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: It's been the year of the press tour for her.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: But as the press tour for Verity, especially has gone on, like her face has changed.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: I mean, from the Odyssey press tour to Verity, it has changed a significant amount.
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: Being pregnant, because she's on her third kid and she's like a year or two older than me.
- 46:50SPEAKER_00: We actually have the same birthday.
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: How about that?
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: I didn't know that.
- 46:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 46:53SPEAKER_00: Like when you're six months, great.
- 46:55SPEAKER_00: That's a great time.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: You're super cute.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: I've never felt skinnier than when I'm pregnant, like at six months, because it's all goes to your stomach, you know?
- 47:02SPEAKER_00: And you're not drinking.
- 47:03SPEAKER_00: But hidden like eight, nine months and having to be out there, that's when it gets really tough.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: But I'll also as a side note, I was just reading all the reviews of Verity, and it is not they're like, it's like in the movie theater.
- 47:17SPEAKER_00: I didn't know that it could possibly be worse than the Colleen Hoover book.
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: No, you know how so sad.
- 47:24SPEAKER_00: I know how I feel about Colleen Hoover as a writer.
- 47:27SPEAKER_00: I know it's not my favorite.
- 47:28SPEAKER_01: So I'm Zandy has the same exact feelings as you, but I've read the reviews and I'm so disappointed.
- 47:34SPEAKER_01: But I'm still gonna like I can't.
- 47:35SPEAKER_00: But like this is what happens when you have terrible base material.
- 47:39SPEAKER_00: And I know people love the book, but like she's a terrible writer.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: Like, she's not a Verity though.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna lie.
- 47:45SPEAKER_01: When I first started reading Colleen Hoover, I think I told you this.
- 47:48SPEAKER_01: I was like, wait, if she can make it, maybe I should write a book.
- 47:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I thought the same thing, which is not a good sign.
- 47:55SPEAKER_00: I was like so excited to read It Ends With Us, and then I'm reading the first like five pages, and I'm like, this is awful.
- 48:02SPEAKER_00: Like, this is so bad.
- 48:04SPEAKER_00: And then it like all the stuff that went along with it, and now I was like, get that woman away from me.
- 48:08SPEAKER_00: Um I don't want to ever hear about I can we be done after this, please.
- 48:12SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't think we're ever gonna be done, Liz.
- 48:15SPEAKER_00: It's less for everybody else to do.
- 48:17SPEAKER_00: They're doing an ends with us sequel.
- 48:19SPEAKER_00: Like, can we not?
- 48:20SPEAKER_00: I don't ever want to.
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: No, I never want to see it.
- 48:24SPEAKER_00: I can never hear about this ever again.
- 48:26SPEAKER_00: Never, ever.
- 48:27SPEAKER_00: But all right.
- 48:28SPEAKER_00: I think on that note, I think we should it ends with us.
- 48:31SPEAKER_00: It it ends with us, and hopefully Colleen Hoover's book to movie career ends with parody.
- 48:39SPEAKER_00: Please, please.
- 48:42SPEAKER_01: Well, listen, I know you have also a lot of thoughts about Gilmore Girls as a false show.
- 48:47SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, that was we can just touch on that really quickly.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: Let's let's touch on that quickly.
- 48:52SPEAKER_01: I I think it's because the way I don't have a coffee mug in front of me, but there's something so cozy about holding a coffee mug for people, and I think that's why it's gotten the wrap as being a false show.
- 49:04SPEAKER_00: Because it is a false show, but if you watch the show, there aren't like it's not an overwhelmingly false show, and it's also filmed on an LA lot.
- 49:11SPEAKER_00: So I don't know why it's funny because it's actually, I don't know if you've ever seen this.
- 49:15SPEAKER_00: The lot that Gilmore Girls is filmed is in everything, it's in the Muppets movie with Jason Segal.
- 49:24SPEAKER_00: It's in like you see that the gazebo, and it's right there.
- 49:28SPEAKER_00: I'm wondering if it's considered a false show because of the opening credits.
- 49:31SPEAKER_00: Because I think you might be right.
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: I think and I think it always just goes back to the cozy coffee cup, yeah.
- 49:37SPEAKER_01: And I think that that's why people think it's so fall.
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: Like everybody calls this season like Gilmore Girl season.
- 49:43SPEAKER_01: I never understood that, and so yes, we are aligned in that way.
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: I know because like I'll be like, oh, a fall show, and sometimes I'll like pop on an episode, just get in the fall, and I'm like, this isn't fall at all.
- 49:52SPEAKER_00: There's a couple, but even the fall episodes, the Thanksgiving episodes, aren't even like overwhelmingly fallish, they don't have that vibe.
- 49:59SPEAKER_00: What was the first boyfriend's name?
- 50:01SPEAKER_00: Dean.
- 50:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, like when Rory and Dean fall out of the room together and Lorelai catches them.
- 50:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, when they have the affair, when they start their affair.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: I don't know why, but that whole scene will always stick with me.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: I think it was just this disappointment and shame Lorelei had in Rory.
- 50:20SPEAKER_00: It's a heated debate.
- 50:21SPEAKER_00: I actually got into I've gotten into a few fights on threads.
- 50:24SPEAKER_00: I have to quit threads because it's not you, I know, I know.
- 50:27SPEAKER_00: But Gilmar Girls is, I would say, arguably one of the most heated debated shows in pop culture.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: And I don't know why surface level it shouldn't be.
- 50:37SPEAKER_00: I know, but generational, it was I think it was about generational trauma.
- 50:41SPEAKER_00: And I was saying how like you can't blame Emily for every single thing wrong.
- 50:45SPEAKER_00: Like at some point, Lorelai has to be responsible for things.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: And like she was kind of a jerk too.
- 50:49SPEAKER_00: Like, imagine you're 16, like, yeah, her parents weren't great, but like they weren't like awful.
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: You could have raised Rory in the palace that you have there.
- 50:57SPEAKER_00: You didn't have to go live in a shed at the hotel that you worked at.
- 51:00SPEAKER_00: She had something to prove, okay?
- 51:02SPEAKER_00: She's stubborn.
- 51:03SPEAKER_00: And I was like, at some point, it's kind of her fault too.
- 51:06SPEAKER_00: Like, you can't blame your parents for every single thing forever.
- 51:09SPEAKER_00: And then, like, Rory, you know, she did some terrible things too.
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: Lorelai did the same thing.
- 51:13SPEAKER_00: Every time Rory made a decision that Lorelei didn't like, she acted exactly like Emily.
- 51:18SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 51:18SPEAKER_01: And and I feel like if this was a threads post, it would always end with, but we're not ready to have that conversation, though.
- 51:24SPEAKER_00: But you're not ready to have that conversation.
- 51:26SPEAKER_00: Well, that's what it was.
- 51:27SPEAKER_00: People were like, you don't even understand generational trauma.
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Oh my god, I gotta get off this.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: Threads is you posted something that was like threads is for people that love to read aloud in class, and it's so true.
- 51:38SPEAKER_00: It's like every time, oh, I have some thoughts about Gilmar girls, let me elaborate one of 18.
- 51:45SPEAKER_00: And it's like, nobody needs an 18-part post about Gilmar girls.
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: Cut it down.
- 51:51SPEAKER_00: I agree.
- 51:51SPEAKER_00: Susan, get off the toilet.
- 51:53SPEAKER_01: Like you need to go live your life.
- 51:56SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 51:56SPEAKER_01: Stop posting on threads in the bathroom.
- 51:58SPEAKER_00: I had to, I quit it for like six months because people were mad at me about when I said that the dad from Cinderella was a jerk because he left his daughter with this woman, and they were like, You don't even know what the times were like.
- 52:09SPEAKER_00: He couldn't not get a mom for her.
- 52:11SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Oh my god, I gotta go.
- 52:15SPEAKER_00: Didn't he die?
- 52:16SPEAKER_00: He died, but like before he died, he would take off for like three months at a time.
- 52:20SPEAKER_00: He came home with a mom for her without even telling her.
- 52:23SPEAKER_00: And he knew so little about this woman that irresponsible he didn't even know she would enslave his child.
- 52:30SPEAKER_01: I also think if we're really on if we're gonna get honest, Lady Tremaine just pulled the ultimate bamboozle and catfished Cinderella's dad.
- 52:38SPEAKER_00: True, but also like you have a whole castle and a whole staff of people.
- 52:43SPEAKER_00: I don't think that you necessarily need a mom for her.
- 52:47SPEAKER_00: She's got a couple maids that I'm sure she's been with since birth, sell the castle and live in a nice house, and you don't have to leave for months at a time.
- 52:56SPEAKER_01: Downsized Cinderella man.
- 52:58SPEAKER_01: But you know what?
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: We're not ready to have that conversation.
- 53:00SPEAKER_00: We're not ready, we're not ready to have that conversation.
- 53:04SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 53:05SPEAKER_00: Well, this was great.
- 53:06SPEAKER_00: Thank you for coming again.
- 53:07SPEAKER_00: Always so much fun.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Liz.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: This was awesome.
- 53:10SPEAKER_00: Happy Halloween.
- 53:11SPEAKER_00: Happy Halloween.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: We will see you next week.
