Latest / The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show / Hour 1 - Cheesecake on His Face?
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome in to the one week until the midterms play
- 0:05Speaker 1: and buck spectacular. We appreciate all of you hanging out
- 0:09Speaker 1: with us. We particularly love those of you who have
- 0:12Speaker 1: already early voted as 33 million people nationwide have early voted.
- 0:18Speaker 1: And some of the numbers are coming out and they
- 0:22Speaker 1: are fantastic. And some of the numbers I'm talking about
- 0:25Speaker 1: in the States and some of the numbers are coming out.
- 0:28Speaker 1: And I'm thinking to myself, That ain't great. So we
- 0:31Speaker 1: need as many of you possible to get out and vote.
- 0:34Speaker 1: And if you said, okay, Clay, which states do you
- 0:36Speaker 1: think things are going particularly well in? I would point
- 0:41Speaker 1: and say, boy, there's actually a lot of them. Pennsylvania.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Republicans in Pennsylvania are doing fantastic in the early vote
- 0:49Speaker 1: compared to 2022. A lot of states are nearly identical.
- 0:55Speaker 1: For instance, Maine. is virtually identical to what happened in 2022.
- 1:01Speaker 1: 33 million early votes out there. Not a surprise. Floridians
- 1:06Speaker 1: are doing quite well. If you said to me, Clay,
- 1:09Speaker 1: where are you apprehensive? Where are you nervous about how...
- 1:13Speaker 1: By the way, Arizona, fantastically well compared to what has
- 1:18Speaker 1: happened in the past. If you said, Clay, where are
- 1:21Speaker 1: you really nervous? Man, I would say probably... probably North
- 1:27Speaker 1: Carolina buck. North Carolina is a, right now, we need
- 1:32Speaker 1: every North Carolinian to get out and vote. I would
- 1:36Speaker 1: say I am the most apprehensive, the most nervous based
- 1:39Speaker 1: on these numbers, what's going on in North Carolina.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Maine looks solid. Florida looks solid.
- 1:47Speaker 1: There are really good, the numbers in Iowa and Nebraska
- 1:52Speaker 1: are very similar. to what they have been in the past,
- 1:55Speaker 1: suggesting that this whole idea of a blue wave in
- 1:59Speaker 1: red states is non-existent, at least based on what the
- 2:02Speaker 1: data is showing. And again, nationwide, the numbers in 2022
- 2:08Speaker 1: compared to the numbers in 2026, not very different at all.
- 2:13Speaker 1: We are not seeing the so-called blue wave in early votes.
- 2:17Speaker 2: We need you guys to get out and get your
- 2:21Speaker 2: votes in.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Now, Buck, I wasn't expecting I yesterday I did a
- 2:27Speaker 1: take on the Cheesecake Factory and the fact that Obama
- 2:30Speaker 1: is out of touch over the way that he chose
- 2:33Speaker 1: to insult Trump by going after the Cheesecake Factory. And
- 2:38Speaker 1: millions of people now have watched my Cheesecake Factory take,
- 2:42Speaker 1: which I did not expect. Here's a question for you.
- 2:45Speaker 1: You were bragging about having finally gone to the Home Depot.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Oh, no. You're not cornering me on this on live radio.
- 2:55Speaker 1: The Cheesecake Factory in your life? Have you at any
- 2:58Speaker 1: point in time had a meal, had a piece of cheesecake?
- 3:02Speaker 1: Have you ever been Buck Sexton to the Cheesecake Factory?
- 3:07Speaker 2: Objection. Badgering the witness, Your Honor. Irrelevant. Erroneous. I plead
- 3:13Speaker 2: the fifth. Okay. I am. So I expected that you probably.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I have never been to the Cheesecake Factory. You have
- 3:19Speaker 2: never been to the Cheesecake Factory.
- 3:21Speaker 3: To Maggiano's Little Italy, which I feel like is just
- 3:24Speaker 3: a cheesecake factory with a longer name.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Okay, that's an interesting take. I am a chain restaurant expert.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I have eaten in– I'm not even– this is certainly
- 3:36Speaker 1: not a brag.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I don't think people are like, oh, that's so healthy
- 3:39Speaker 2: of you, Clay.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I think I have eaten in every chain restaurant that
- 3:43Speaker 1: has existed that is popular in America at some point
- 3:47Speaker 1: in time. So since we're doing the call people out
- 3:50Speaker 1: here just for a minute if I can, okay, you
- 3:53Speaker 1: just finished a nice big fancy house. I'm going to
- 3:54Speaker 1: tell you, I haven't seen a Mountain Dew in your
- 3:56Speaker 1: hand in a long time. Are you too good for
- 3:58Speaker 1: the Dew now? Well, this is my wife because she,
- 4:04Speaker 1: at least in this case, wants me to live longer.
- 4:06Speaker 1: She said I had to stop drinking soda. So I
- 4:10Speaker 1: have largely replaced all of my Coke products, all of
- 4:14Speaker 1: my Pepsi products. I occasionally have a Mountain Dew. I
- 4:17Speaker 1: now drink Crockett coffee. pretty much exclusively for my caffeine.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I was not a coffee guy. It's way healthier. I
- 4:25Speaker 1: drink coffee straight black. I don't put all the fancy
- 4:29Speaker 1: cream and fillings and everything.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Else in it.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I only have two or three cups of coffee a day,
- 4:34Speaker 1: which I'm told is a good number, and it's at CrockettCoffee.com.
- 4:38Speaker 1: So I am all in on coffee. I love coffee now.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I largely replaced sodas.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I don't know if I should be upset at your
- 4:46Speaker 3: jujitsu here for completely... turning that around or proud that
- 4:51Speaker 3: you managed to just give it a shout out for
- 4:53Speaker 3: America's best coffee, which is Crockett coffee.
- 4:54Speaker 1: You should go to coffee.com right now. And you should
- 4:57Speaker 1: sign up because it is America's only coffee that loves
- 5:00Speaker 1: American history as much as you do now.
- 5:02Speaker 2: That is a good pivot, but let me just say this.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Are we doing Obama? Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I want to play. Do we have a short version?
- 5:08Speaker 1: I don't need like the full minute of Obama. Do
- 5:11Speaker 1: we just have the cheesecake factory line where he's making
- 5:14Speaker 1: fun of how Trump has remade the oval office?
- 5:17Speaker 2: Do we just have that? Thirty five seconds. OK, here
- 5:21Speaker 2: it is.
- 5:22Speaker 1: This is Obama at his rally over the weekend, taking
- 5:26Speaker 1: a shot at Trump and his decorating style.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Listen.
- 5:29Speaker 5: I don't know if you've noticed, but he seems very
- 5:33Speaker 5: focused on home renovations.
- 5:34Speaker 2: He should be on HGTV. Guys building a ballroom that's
- 5:40Speaker 2: bigger than the White House. It's paved over the Rose Garden.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Put a helicopter pad on the South Lawn. And there's
- 5:47Speaker 2: gold everywhere. What's up with the gold?
- 5:50Speaker 6: Everything. More gold.
- 5:52Speaker 2: He's got the White House.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Looking like Saddam Hussein opened a cheesecake factory.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Just gold.
- 6:01Speaker 2: OK, so, Buck, I am a fan of humor.
- 6:07Speaker 1: And so I don't begrudge people making fun of the
- 6:10Speaker 1: choices that different political parties have made. Here's where I
- 6:14Speaker 1: think Obama is particularly tone deaf here. And I think
- 6:18Speaker 1: this is actually a joke written for Obama. This is
- 6:21Speaker 1: not an off the cuff line. And the podcast bros,
- 6:25Speaker 1: the Obama Pod Save America podcast bros have all jumped
- 6:29Speaker 1: in my mentions after I made fun of Obama and said, actually,
- 6:35Speaker 1: and this is I'm going to look right into the
- 6:37Speaker 1: camera here.
- 6:37Speaker 2: You can watch us on YouTube.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Cheesecake Factory is a high-end chain restaurant. Most people, as
- 6:44Speaker 1: a chain restaurant expert, most people go to Cheesecake Factory
- 6:50Speaker 1: for celebratory occasions, not a place that you go to
- 6:54Speaker 1: all of the time if you are a quote-unquote normal
- 6:58Speaker 1: person in America today, right? And everybody out there listening understands.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You might go for a birthday. You might go for
- 7:04Speaker 1: a graduation. You might go for a significant family event.
- 7:10Speaker 1: But when Obama is making fun of Trump by saying
- 7:14Speaker 1: he's got the Oval Office looking like a glitzed-out Cheesecake Factory,
- 7:19Speaker 1: most people walk into Cheesecake Factory and actually think this
- 7:24Speaker 1: is a high-end restaurant. And so it doesn't work because
- 7:27Speaker 1: you're attacking him for doing something that most normal Americans
- 7:32Speaker 1: consider to be high-end.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I think for the first time ever.
- 7:39Speaker 3: I may be in the position of, and I can
- 7:43Speaker 3: hear the boos already, somewhat defending Obama on this. Because
- 7:48Speaker 3: he didn't say he's making it look like a cheesecake factory.
- 7:55Speaker 3: He said he's making it look like Saddam Hussein opened
- 7:58Speaker 3: up a cheesecake factory today. The modifier there, Clay, we
- 8:03Speaker 3: got to be fair. He's making a joke. You like jokes.
- 8:06Speaker 3: I like jokes. He's really not denigrating Cheesecake Factory.
- 8:10Speaker 2: No, but I see.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I think if he had said he's got Saddam Hussein
- 8:15Speaker 1: looking like he's making, you know, like a glitzed out.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Jack in the Box, I think people would have been like, oh,
- 8:23Speaker 1: Jack in the Box is a low end, not trying
- 8:26Speaker 1: to take a shot, because inevitably one of these guys
- 8:28Speaker 1: is going to be like, I own 748 Jack in
- 8:31Speaker 1: the Boxes, and I love Clay and Buck.
- 8:33Speaker 3: There goes our Jack in the Box sponsorship right there. Yeah,
- 8:36Speaker 3: and we just lost them forever.
- 8:38Speaker 1: If you're going to a lot of fast food restaurants,
- 8:41Speaker 1: you're typically going there because it's a lower cost option
- 8:45Speaker 1: than a place like the Cheesecake Factory. If he had said,
- 8:48Speaker 1: I don't even know if they're still open, If he
- 8:50Speaker 1: had said he's making the Oval Office look like a
- 8:54Speaker 1: Saddam Hussein bedecked Shoney's, I think people out there would
- 8:58Speaker 1: have been like, oh, okay, Captain D's, Long John Silver's.
- 9:02Speaker 1: There's lots of places that I have eaten that I
- 9:05Speaker 1: could make a joke where people would say, oh, that's
- 9:08Speaker 1: low end, and he's trying to make a low end
- 9:11Speaker 1: place look high end, which actually looks trashier, right?
- 9:16Speaker 2: That's the joke he's trying to make. He whiffed. The
- 9:19Speaker 2: joke with I.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Think because he thinks cheesecake doesn't know what the average
- 9:24Speaker 1: American thinks of cheesecake.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Well, now I can't make fun of him for this
- 9:28Speaker 3: because I haven't been to a cheesecake factory. I believe,
- 9:30Speaker 3: by the way, there's a cheesecake factory near me in
- 9:33Speaker 3: Miami Beach, which is I have been told by people
- 9:36Speaker 3: in the restaurant game here obscenely profitable.
- 9:41Speaker 2: People love this place. They make money hand over fist.
- 9:45Speaker 2: This is a true story.
- 9:46Speaker 1: The last time I was in Miami with Laura, we
- 9:51Speaker 1: ate at the Cheesecake Factory in Miami Beach. It was
- 9:55Speaker 1: open on that, what's it called? The promenade there where
- 9:58Speaker 1: you walk through.
- 9:59Speaker 2: That's the one up there.
- 10:00Speaker 4: The one.
- 10:00Speaker 3: That's a well-known. That's what I'm talking about. That is
- 10:02Speaker 3: one of the most profitable per square foot restaurants, I think,
- 10:05Speaker 3: in all of Miami. Warren and I ate at the
- 10:08Speaker 3: Miami Beach Cheesecake Factory on the patio.
- 10:11Speaker 1: I was excited to eat there. Now, what did you get?
- 10:14Speaker 1: What did you get, Chef Eric? I usually get because I. Well,
- 10:19Speaker 1: so first of all, the menu at Cheesecake Factory, for
- 10:21Speaker 1: those of you like Bach, who have never been. is
- 10:24Speaker 1: about 764 pages. I mean, they bring you the menu,
- 10:28Speaker 1: and it's like you're looking at the Bible, all right?
- 10:30Speaker 1: I mean, you're like flipping through and everything else. I
- 10:33Speaker 1: always try to eat. They have, look, if you put
- 10:37Speaker 1: the calories on a menu, I love so many different
- 10:40Speaker 1: types of food that I will try to eat something
- 10:43Speaker 1: that doesn't have a tremendous amount of calories just because
- 10:46Speaker 1: I'm trying to avoid being super fat, right? So I
- 10:49Speaker 1: always get like the skewered medallions. I don't know what
- 10:52Speaker 1: the official order of it is, but it's like the healthy,
- 10:55Speaker 1: it's like 450 calories.
- 10:57Speaker 2: It's really good.
- 10:58Speaker 1: It's basically steak medallions or whatever they call it on
- 11:01Speaker 1: a skewer with a bunch of vegetables. I then splurge
- 11:06Speaker 1: and usually get, I mean, this is very specific, but
- 11:09Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I eat the Cheesecake Factory. The raspberry,
- 11:13Speaker 1: I think it's the raspberry lemonade, which they just bedeck
- 11:16Speaker 1: with sugar around the rim of the drink, which probably
- 11:20Speaker 1: cancels out the healthy meal that I'm eating, but it's
- 11:23Speaker 1: such a good drink. So that's my specific order. Not
- 11:26Speaker 1: a cheesecake guy. If I were advising Trump, though, Buck,
- 11:30Speaker 1: we know Besant went. I would go to the Cheesecake Factory.
- 11:35Speaker 1: If I were Trump this week, because I think Obama
- 11:38Speaker 1: put his foot in his mouth a little bit here,
- 11:40Speaker 1: Trump at fast food restaurants is typically best Trump.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I think Trump rolling into.
- 11:45Speaker 1: A cheesecake factory in Texas today, for instance, would be
- 11:50Speaker 1: great opportunity to say, hey, unlike Obama, I want to
- 11:55Speaker 1: make an America that's so great that everybody can afford
- 11:58Speaker 1: to eat in the cheesecake factory. It's a great place.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Not a not a cheap place at all to eat.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I want everybody to be able to go here with
- 12:06Speaker 1: their families for their birthdays, graduations, great American company.
- 12:10Speaker 2: And I think it looks great in here. I think
- 12:13Speaker 2: the decor is fantastic. I would do it if I
- 12:16Speaker 2: were Trump.
- 12:18Speaker 3: I think the I agree with you on the political
- 12:21Speaker 3: move that it would look good. And it's and by
- 12:23Speaker 3: the way, anyone in the Trump base going after something
- 12:26Speaker 3: Obama said that MAGA will eat that up, eat it
- 12:30Speaker 3: up like. An Alfredo chicken from the Cheese Factory. I
- 12:35Speaker 3: can tell you, you know what you don't want to
- 12:37Speaker 3: know the calories for? Anything Alfredo. Just don't look, guys.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Just don't read the menu on that.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Do you ever look at calories on menus, or am
- 12:44Speaker 1: I the only person that actually does that?
- 12:46Speaker 2: No, I'm over 40. I have to look at calories
- 12:49Speaker 2: on menus now.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I like so many different types of food that if
- 12:52Speaker 1: you tell me one is a 1,500-calorie dish and another
- 12:55Speaker 1: is a 600-calorie dish, I'll just pick the 600-calorie dish.
- 12:59Speaker 3: I actually think it's useful information. One of the sad
- 13:02Speaker 3: things you realize as you get older is that cream
- 13:05Speaker 3: sauce for pasta and anything with avocado or guacamole is
- 13:11Speaker 3: just going to be really calorie-dense.
- 13:12Speaker 2: We wish it wasn't so, but it is so.
- 13:14Speaker 3: So you've got to become a salsa person, and you've
- 13:18Speaker 3: got to become a.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Marinara sauce.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I was a cream sauce guy all growing up, but now, Clay,
- 13:26Speaker 3: I've entered my marinara phase. where I can only have
- 13:29Speaker 3: the squash, tomatoes, and veggies and things because Alfredo is
- 13:34Speaker 3: one of the most calorie-dense things you can eat. It's
- 13:37Speaker 3: like fettuccine Alfredo, which I'm sure does very well at
- 13:39Speaker 3: the Cheesecake Factory. The only thing more calorie-dense?
- 13:42Speaker 2: Cheesecake.
- 13:45Speaker 3: All of this is great, by the way. If you
- 13:47Speaker 3: want to gain weight, just start eating cheesecake every day.
- 13:49Speaker 3: I promise you, you'll get super fat.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I just got a text from the Trump team asking
- 13:53Speaker 1: me to share some information that I'm about to tweet out,
- 13:55Speaker 1: which is the most football-specific request for a clarification that
- 14:00Speaker 1: probably has ever been given for a president.
- 14:03Speaker 2: You're going to love this.
- 14:05Speaker 1: So the White House wants everybody to know President Trump
- 14:10Speaker 1: is traveling to Texas today. He has a bunch of
- 14:14Speaker 1: football players with him for these rallies. He wants everyone
- 14:18Speaker 1: to understand that Johnny Manziel, who is a big-time Texas
- 14:22Speaker 1: A & M star, is appearing in Corpus Christi. He
- 14:27Speaker 1: is not traveling to Lubbock, which is where Texas Tech
- 14:31Speaker 1: is located. Danny Amendola, who is a former Texas Tech player,
- 14:36Speaker 1: will be with him in Lubbock. They want you to
- 14:38Speaker 1: know they aren't taking... a Texas A & M Aggie
- 14:42Speaker 1: to Lubbock, Texas. That is like, Buck, I might as
- 14:45Speaker 1: well have just read that entire thing in Sanskrit.
- 14:48Speaker 2: No idea.
- 14:49Speaker 1: But there are a lot of Texans who just heard that,
- 14:51Speaker 1: and they're like, okay, that's important to clarify. So I'm
- 14:56Speaker 1: going to tweet that out, but that is from the
- 14:58Speaker 1: Trump team that they wanted me to make clear.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Well done.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Oh, and in the meantime, much more seriously than everything
- 15:06Speaker 1: that we have been talking about, elections going on right
- 15:10Speaker 1: now in Israel. And what we're seeing in France over
- 15:14Speaker 1: the past couple of weekends should serve as a wake-up
- 15:16Speaker 1: call to every American. Violence in the streets, synagogue ransacked
- 15:20Speaker 1: in Paris, families wondering whether their kids will be safe.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Anti-Semitic attacks are on the rise everywhere in the world.
- 15:29Speaker 1: And the fellowship is helping Jewish families in France move
- 15:34Speaker 1: to Israel, providing resettlement assistance, strengthening security at Jewish institutions.
- 15:40Speaker 1: They've helped more than 10,000 French Jews make the move
- 15:45Speaker 1: to Israel since 2015. The organization, International Fellowship of Christians
- 15:51Speaker 1: and Jews, based in New Jersey, bringing together Christians and
- 15:55Speaker 1: Jews to make sure that people in the Holy Land
- 15:58Speaker 1: are safe and people around the world are as well.
- 16:01Speaker 1: If you want to stand with Israel, you can go
- 16:03Speaker 1: to give.org. IFCJ.org. That's the word give and the letters IFCJ.org.
- 16:12Speaker 1: One more time. Give IFCJ.org.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Looking for normal in a world of crazy?
- 16:20Speaker 5: Clay and Buck have your back.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Welcome back into Clay and Buck. Clay diving deep into
- 16:25Speaker 3: Cheesecake Gates. We will get back into that as usual.
- 16:29Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Cheesecake Factorygate. We will also get back into
- 16:33Speaker 3: that shortly. We've got Ennis. I believe that is what
- 16:37Speaker 3: we're told now. His name is pronounced as Ennis Cantor,
- 16:40Speaker 3: also known as Ennis, if you're going to come at
- 16:43Speaker 3: it from that angle.
- 16:45Speaker 2: He's going to be with us.
- 16:46Speaker 3: And we've got Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas, who I
- 16:50Speaker 3: think is going to win, but the Democrats are making
- 16:52Speaker 3: a lot of noise about how.
- 16:54Speaker 2: It's so tight, it's so close.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Clay, one thing to, even USA Today, one thing to
- 16:57Speaker 3: put on the radar... Everybody is saying right now, all
- 17:02Speaker 3: of the pollsters, all of the aggregates, etc., that every
- 17:07Speaker 3: close Senate race is too close to call, basically. They're
- 17:11Speaker 3: all a coin flip right now. All the ones that
- 17:14Speaker 3: we've been discussing, Texas, Ohio, Maine, Michigan, Iowa, I don't
- 17:19Speaker 3: think that's a coin flip. Alaska, all coin flip races.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Yes.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And again, all of the data out there, I just
- 17:28Speaker 1: ran through some of the states show you that there
- 17:31Speaker 1: is not a blue wave. So if you get out
- 17:34Speaker 1: an early vote, you get out and vote on Election Day.
- 17:38Speaker 1: The numbers are likely to be very similar to 2022
- 17:40Speaker 1: and 2024, which means it's going to come down to.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Less than 50,000 votes, I think, in many of these
- 17:50Speaker 1: battleground states. Less than 100K, like we just saw in
- 17:54Speaker 1: the past couple of election cycles.
- 17:59Speaker 3: It's a great time to switch your cell phone service
- 18:01Speaker 3: to Pure Talk, especially if you use a lot of
- 18:02Speaker 3: data every day, which I'm sure many of you do.
- 18:05Speaker 3: $ 29. 95 is the new monthly price for Pure Talk's plan,
- 18:08Speaker 3: which gives you unlimited data every For life, along with
- 18:11Speaker 3: unlimited calls and text messages, Pure Talk also includes a
- 18:15Speaker 3: 30-gig hotspot in the same package. If you like the
- 18:18Speaker 3: idea of saving money for years to come, Pure Talk's
- 18:21Speaker 3: $ 29. 95 monthly price is the one for you. This plan
- 18:24Speaker 3: was $ 65 a month. It was their top-tier unlimited data plan.

- 18:59Speaker 2: Buck, you didn't ask what my favorite chain restaurant was.
- 19:02Speaker 1: I guarantee you, by the way, this is going to
- 19:04Speaker 1: be one of the ones where we get deluged and
- 19:06Speaker 1: talk back. Remember when I told you how much I
- 19:08Speaker 1: loved Buc-ee's and you didn't know Buc-ee's? And then I
- 19:11Speaker 1: still would say I would put every dollar that I
- 19:14Speaker 1: have into Buc-ee's if I ever heard that they were
- 19:17Speaker 1: raising money. I love that place. My taste is the
- 19:22Speaker 1: middle of America taste. Whatever is popular, I tend to like.
- 19:27Speaker 1: best chain restaurant in america in my opinion for the
- 19:32Speaker 1: dollar value not fast food i'm a chick-fil-a guy when
- 19:35Speaker 1: it's fast food chick-fil-a is the best fast food restaurant
- 19:38Speaker 1: unless another fast food restaurant wants to spend money with
- 19:40Speaker 1: us in which case i've long thought that one was
- 19:43Speaker 1: the best but chick-fil-a for right now because none of
- 19:45Speaker 1: them spend money with us texas roadhouse but Texas Roadhouse
- 19:52Speaker 1: is the best dollar value of any sit-down chain restaurant.
- 19:58Speaker 2: I'm sure you've never been to a Texas Roadhouse. I'm
- 20:02Speaker 2: going to take you. Ease up on this.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I'm sure you've never been to stuff. Have you been
- 20:06Speaker 1: to the Olive Garden? You've been to the Olive Garden.
- 20:09Speaker 2: You've never been to an Olive Garden?
- 20:11Speaker 6: No. No.
- 20:13Speaker 2: I've never been to an Olive Garden. Longhorn Steakhouse? Outback Steakhouse? Yeah,
- 20:18Speaker 2: I've been to Outback. Yeah, yeah. Okay.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Bloomin' Onion, maybe the best dish at a chain restaurant.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Texas Roadhouse, best dollar value chain meal in America. I'm
- 20:30Speaker 1: going to take you to a Texas Roadhouse. It is
- 20:34Speaker 1: unbelievable how good it is. And for what you pay.
- 20:38Speaker 1: It like, look, there are super high end steakhouses, you know,
- 20:41Speaker 1: the Ruth's Chris, the Morton's of the world, the bourbon steaks.
- 20:46Speaker 2: I've been to a lot of these chain steakhouses over
- 20:50Speaker 2: the years. I travel all over the place.
- 20:52Speaker 1: But four dollar value, Texas Roadhouse, best value of any
- 20:58Speaker 1: chain restaurant, in my opinion.
- 21:00Speaker 2: And we're going to be deluged.
- 21:01Speaker 1: You're going to be you're you're going to be it's
- 21:03Speaker 1: like you're reading Sanskrit with all the talkbacks and all
- 21:06Speaker 1: of the all of the interaction.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Have you been to an Applebee's Chili's?
- 21:12Speaker 6: No.
- 21:14Speaker 2: All right. You win. All right. Uncle, I haven't been
- 21:17Speaker 2: to any chain restaurants. OK, I give up. I just
- 21:21Speaker 2: love this.
- 21:22Speaker 1: All right, so we're going to have some fun with this.
- 21:26Speaker 1: You can take me on if you disagree about Texas Roadhouse,
- 21:28Speaker 1: but I'm right and you're going to be wrong. A
- 21:30Speaker 1: bunch of people want to weigh in. Terry in North Carolina.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I was saying, of the states that break down Democrat
- 21:38Speaker 1: or Republican, I am very optimistic about a bunch of states.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Florida just continues to dominate. Go vote, Florida. But North
- 21:48Speaker 1: Carolina is the one... where if you are listening to
- 21:51Speaker 1: us right now and you are a North Carolina Republican,
- 21:55Speaker 1: you need to be flooding the polls. You need to
- 21:58Speaker 1: be getting your vote in early. Terry in North Carolina,
- 22:01Speaker 1: that's the one where Democrats are doing the best of
- 22:06Speaker 1: all of the sort of battleground states. North Carolina is
- 22:10Speaker 1: the one where Democrats are doing the best in the
- 22:12Speaker 1: early vote.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Terry, what you got for us?
- 22:15Speaker 4: Well, Roy Cooper has the name recognition. He was a
- 22:18Speaker 4: terrible governor. But he's got the name recognition. And the
- 22:22Speaker 4: Republicans in North Carolina have not done a good job
- 22:26Speaker 4: at all on ads for Watley or getting out, you know,
- 22:30Speaker 4: information on him. Cooper's campaign has done a much better
- 22:34Speaker 4: job at putting out really negative ads about him, et cetera.
- 22:40Speaker 4: And so... I can see why his numbers are up.
- 22:43Speaker 4: He's got the name recognition and he's a good old boy. And,
- 22:47Speaker 4: you know, I've lived here 30 years and I've definitely
- 22:50Speaker 4: seen it getting more blue, more purple. And everybody wants
- 22:55Speaker 4: to come here, but then they want to bring their
- 22:57Speaker 4: politics here, too. So I think that's part of the problem.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you're 100 percent right. And this is
- 23:03Speaker 1: where your average North Carolinian is nodding along because, Buck,
- 23:08Speaker 1: you've talked about this. Some states are getting flooded with
- 23:13Speaker 1: left wingers who are bringing left wing politics. North Carolina
- 23:18Speaker 1: and Georgia, I think, are two examples of that.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Well, let me play that. Have you ever been to Asheville,
- 23:23Speaker 2: North Carolina, sir? Oh, yes. I remember I flew in
- 23:28Speaker 2: after the on a helicopter. I landed.
- 23:31Speaker 1: But even as a kid going to Pigeon Forge, going
- 23:35Speaker 1: to Gatlinburg, going into the Smoky Mountains was a trip
- 23:39Speaker 1: that your average Tennessee kid made.
- 23:41Speaker 2: So, yeah, I've been to Asheville. I did not.
- 23:43Speaker 3: I did not think that they could transport like Northampton,
- 23:49Speaker 3: Massachusetts or Berkeley, California into the middle of North Carolina
- 23:54Speaker 3: like that. But they can, apparently, because the actual downtown
- 23:59Speaker 3: of Asheville is communist madness.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Communist madness.
- 24:03Speaker 3: So the fact that there's a Democrat surge in that
- 24:07Speaker 3: state is really not that surprising, I think, when you
- 24:10Speaker 3: line it up along with some of these these trends.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Some people, they want, and this actually lines up with
- 24:16Speaker 3: left-wing thinking, they want access to a more affordable housing
- 24:20Speaker 3: market and lower taxes while they still want everybody else
- 24:24Speaker 3: to be paying. They still want to be, oh, we
- 24:25Speaker 3: have to pay for schools and infrastructure, but I'm going
- 24:29Speaker 3: to leave California for Nevada and sort of see what happens.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I would also say you see the flow coming
- 24:37Speaker 1: down the East Coast, right? People are able to get
- 24:40Speaker 1: into North Carolina. They see how nice it is. We've
- 24:43Speaker 1: talked about how much of the South there is a
- 24:47Speaker 1: huge difference between the people that are actually born and
- 24:49Speaker 1: raised there. I'm a born and raised Nashvilleian, which is
- 24:52Speaker 1: not very common now. Nashville and the state of Tennessee, Texas,
- 24:57Speaker 1: and Florida are I think have been largely protected so
- 25:00Speaker 1: far because of the lack of income tax.
- 25:04Speaker 2: So if you are a fiscal.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Conservative and you don't want to pay huge tax rates,
- 25:11Speaker 1: then you bail and you end up in places like Tennessee,
- 25:15Speaker 1: Texas and Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and South Carolina
- 25:21Speaker 1: still have state income taxes. And so I don't think
- 25:24Speaker 1: they've recruited the same level of conservative voter as as
- 25:28Speaker 1: other places have. And as a result, a lot of
- 25:32Speaker 1: these transplants are trying to change the culture of the
- 25:35Speaker 1: state that they have moved into. And I think this
- 25:40Speaker 1: is going to turn into a big story going forward.
- 25:44Speaker 1: And Buck, I would just say this, Roy Cooper is
- 25:48Speaker 1: going to, if he wins next week, he is going
- 25:52Speaker 1: to surge dramatically. to the top of the list for
- 25:54Speaker 1: potential vice presidential candidates.
- 25:56Speaker 2: It makes a lot of sense. I do not disagree.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I really think the more I've.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Been noodling this one over, I really think that it
- 26:10Speaker 3: is extremely hard to see how Democrats nominate a woman
- 26:13Speaker 3: for the top of the ticket again. I just think
- 26:16Speaker 3: that they've tried this twice, and they've gotten crushed both
- 26:19Speaker 3: times pretty decisively.
- 26:21Speaker 2: They ran, I understand, COVID, mail-in ballots, blah, blah, all
- 26:26Speaker 2: that stuff, fine.
- 26:26Speaker 3: But they ran old, standard, white guy, Democrat guy, and
- 26:33Speaker 3: they managed to pull it off. So I think that
- 26:35Speaker 3: there will be a little bit of a gender thing
- 26:37Speaker 3: for them. But back to the way this is all looking, Clay,
- 26:39Speaker 3: you're worried about North Carolina.
- 26:41Speaker 2: I don't. I'm just hoping Ohio, all the stuff.
- 26:44Speaker 3: People are saying and you're seeing is incorrect because that
- 26:48Speaker 3: is one that we– there's no excuse.
- 26:50Speaker 2: North Carolina is tough. You're talking about a few points.
- 26:53Speaker 3: You're talking about pretty close in the– I think Republicans
- 26:56Speaker 3: have a– I'd have to check. I think they have
- 26:57Speaker 3: a registration advantage overall, but it's very close either way. Ohio,
- 27:04Speaker 3: Trump won by 11 points. Ohio should be a in-the-bag, we're-good–
- 27:11Speaker 3: And they can focus that money and resources on other
- 27:13Speaker 3: states that are close. Instead, Ohio is an absolute dogfight
- 27:17Speaker 3: right now.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Yes.
- 27:19Speaker 1: And let me say this, too. We don't have the
- 27:21Speaker 1: breakdown in Ohio like we do in other states. The
- 27:24Speaker 1: states that I'm running through and telling you the numbers
- 27:26Speaker 1: that are out there, they show Democrats and Republicans. So,
- 27:31Speaker 1: by the way, somebody could have been a registered Democrat
- 27:35Speaker 1: and voted Republican. Somebody could be a registered Republican and
- 27:38Speaker 1: vote Democrat. It doesn't happen that often. But those states
- 27:42Speaker 1: break it down by party registration. We also don't know
- 27:45Speaker 1: how the independent voters, the non-registered, are breaking. But the
- 27:51Speaker 1: history is most independents actually lean pretty significantly to one
- 27:56Speaker 1: side or the other. And so I think this is a,
- 28:01Speaker 1: to me, I have shifted from the polls, which I
- 28:05Speaker 1: don't trust, to let's actually look at the actual voters
- 28:09Speaker 1: showing up. Remember, in 2022, Republicans won the nationwide popular vote.
- 28:15Speaker 1: That usually whoever wins the House of Representatives wins the
- 28:20Speaker 1: nationwide popular vote, even though you have 435 distinct congressional
- 28:24Speaker 1: races going on. If we're roughly even on the early
- 28:29Speaker 1: vote with 2022, which we are at this date in time,
- 28:33Speaker 1: that's actually a tremendous sign that we are not seeing
- 28:37Speaker 1: a blue wave forming yet, because usually Democrats get out
- 28:42Speaker 1: an early vote and mail vote at higher rates than Republicans.
- 28:46Speaker 1: And so we're seeing a very similar data point to
- 28:51Speaker 1: to this overall.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Not really a lot of people talking about the House
- 28:56Speaker 3: side of things because it's so hard in the off-year election.
- 29:00Speaker 3: But the Senate is very much– keeping the Senate is
- 29:02Speaker 3: absolutely in play. I still believe we will keep the Senate.
- 29:05Speaker 3: So I am not a doomer in the least. I'm optimistic.
- 29:09Speaker 3: And the ones that I'm feeling the best about right
- 29:11Speaker 3: now that are close– you gave us the ones you're–
- 29:14Speaker 3: the one you're most worried about. The ones that I
- 29:16Speaker 3: am the most optimistic about that are contested would be Texas, Maine–
- 29:22Speaker 3: Trying to think what else. I'm feeling better about Michigan
- 29:25Speaker 3: than I have in a while, to be honest with you.
- 29:29Speaker 3: I thought Michigan was really looking bleak a few weeks ago,
- 29:31Speaker 3: and now I think Mike Rogers could.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Pull this off.
- 29:35Speaker 3: But I don't have a, like, I'm not about to
- 29:38Speaker 3: throw some money on it, you know. feel like you
- 29:40Speaker 3: could still go against this. Here's where I'm very confident. Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska,
- 29:46Speaker 3: they tried to turn those three states into, oh, they're battlegrounds.
- 29:50Speaker 3: The early voting is not reflecting that you're seeing some
- 29:53Speaker 3: sort of blue wave there. Texas, Alaska, Ohio would be
- 29:58Speaker 3: the three that I would point to and say, these
- 30:02Speaker 3: are the must-win Texas states. ohio alaska maine i feel
- 30:07Speaker 3: good about the numbers in maine uh are not very
- 30:10Speaker 3: different than they were in 2022 uh north carolina very
- 30:15Speaker 3: nervous about georgia we've just tripped all trying to avoid
- 30:19Speaker 3: saying uh georgia is just georgia is a real failure
- 30:24Speaker 3: when it comes to the senate side races um We
- 30:29Speaker 3: have just, the state of Georgia has just tripped all
- 30:31Speaker 3: over itself for about six years in a row. We
- 30:33Speaker 3: love Trump, a beautiful, amazing president who's done great things,
- 30:37Speaker 3: one of the greatest of all time. Some of the
- 30:39Speaker 3: Georgia stuff has not been optimized, I would say. We've lost,
- 30:44Speaker 3: because of some of the people that have been pushed
- 30:47Speaker 3: into that role, pushed really from D.C., if you will,
- 30:50Speaker 3: not really pushed by the people of Georgia so much.
- 30:53Speaker 3: we've lost three winnable Senate seats in Georgia, or rather
- 30:57Speaker 3: should have won Senate seats in Georgia. So that's kind
- 31:00Speaker 3: of on us a little bit, not you and me,
- 31:04Speaker 3: but on the GOP, on MAGA. We had some very,
- 31:09Speaker 3: just some candidates that shouldn't have been there. I'm hoping
- 31:11Speaker 3: we don't have to have that conversation about Ohio, but
- 31:14Speaker 3: I'm certainly concerned about that right now. But people are
- 31:17Speaker 3: showing up. That's clear from the data. And there's a
- 31:19Speaker 3: real fight underway, and there's enthusiasm on both sides. And
- 31:23Speaker 3: we're going to continue to watch it very closely, Clay.
- 31:26Speaker 2: I'm enthusiastic.
- 31:28Speaker 3: You need to be safe in your home. We all
- 31:30Speaker 3: have our patterns, right? At night, we lock the doors,
- 31:33Speaker 3: turn out the lights. If you have kids, you check
- 31:35Speaker 3: on them just one more time. But what happens if
- 31:37Speaker 3: you hear something downstairs? Maybe it's nothing. Maybe it's not.
- 31:40Speaker 3: When the people you love are counting on you, the
- 31:42Speaker 3: last thing you want is uncertainty. That's why you want
- 31:45Speaker 3: Sabre products at home. Their newest self-defense weapon is called
- 31:48Speaker 3: the Ready Fire Home Defense Launcher. It's shaped like a
- 31:51Speaker 3: small rifle. with a visible pressure indicator pin that lets
- 31:54Speaker 3: you quickly confirm the launcher is pressurized and ready for use.
- 31:58Speaker 3: No wondering, no second guessing, just added confidence in a
- 32:01Speaker 3: high-stress moment when your only concern is protecting your family.
- 32:06Speaker 3: ReadyFire is a less lethal home defense solution that helps
- 32:09Speaker 3: protect families themselves, help families rather protect themselves from unexpected
- 32:13Speaker 3: threats up to 175 feet away. You hope that night
- 32:17Speaker 3: never comes, but if it does, you need to be prepared.

- 32:32Speaker 3: out the ReadyFire Launcher. Protect your home. Protect your family.
- 32:37Speaker 5: Yep, smart, fun, sane. It's the Clay and Buck Show.
- 32:43Speaker 5: Here today, here tomorrow. Every day for your listening pleasure.
- 32:48Speaker 3: Welcome back into Clay and Buck. We'll be talking to
- 32:50Speaker 3: Ennis Cantor-Freedom in just a little bit here about, well,
- 32:54Speaker 3: you know, the whole WNBA situation and how he identifies
- 32:57Speaker 3: as a woman and he should be allowed to play.
- 32:59Speaker 2: They're not letting him. They're being very mean. They're not
- 33:02Speaker 2: letting him live his truth, Clay. Amen.
- 33:05Speaker 3: Which is very, very mean. But we'll get to that.
- 33:09Speaker 3: In the meantime, it's a free-fire zone now.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Light them up.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Linda is taking shots at our man Clay, so she
- 33:16Speaker 3: knows she's getting to the front of the line with
- 33:18Speaker 3: that one.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Go ahead, Linda.
- 33:20Speaker 4: Hey, Clay.
- 33:21Speaker 7: So Texas Roadhouse, all the things that you mentioned are
- 33:26Speaker 7: super salty. So after you eat there, it might be
- 33:30Speaker 7: good going downtown. But as soon as you get done,
- 33:32Speaker 7: your stomach hurts, and all you want to do is
- 33:35Speaker 7: drink the ocean because it's so salty. My favorite chain
- 33:40Speaker 7: that closed down right after COVID was called Sweet Tomatoes.
- 33:44Speaker 7: Have you ever gone to a Sweet Tomatoes?
- 33:47Speaker 2: I have never been to a Sweet Tomatoes.
- 33:50Speaker 7: Have you heard of a Sweet Tomatoes?
- 33:51Speaker 2: I haven't heard of Sweet Tomatoes. I don't think we
- 33:53Speaker 2: have it in the Nashville area.
- 33:54Speaker 1: My favorite chain that closed recently was O'Charlie's here. It
- 33:58Speaker 1: was a big favorite of mine. But what is great
- 34:01Speaker 1: about Sweet Tomatoes?
- 34:04Speaker 7: Well, it's a buffet style, but it's all like salads.
- 34:07Speaker 7: They have soup and pizza. And I believe they opened
- 34:12Speaker 7: up one down in Fort Myers, Florida. But I'm hoping
- 34:17Speaker 7: that they bring them back.
- 34:19Speaker 1: I was a big fan of the Ryan's family restaurant
- 34:22Speaker 1: back in the day. Do you remember Ryan's? And I also,
- 34:25Speaker 1: back in the day, the Ponderosa restaurant. was the Ponderosa Steakhouse.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Some of the sizzler people are out there still. I
- 34:33Speaker 1: think in all these places. I would put my chain
- 34:35Speaker 1: restaurant knowledge up against almost anyone's in America.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Thank you, Linda. By the way, she was very polite.
- 34:43Speaker 3: It said on the thing that she was going to
- 34:44Speaker 3: tell you the Texas Roadhouse is terrible. So she withheld
- 34:47Speaker 3: her fire.
- 34:47Speaker 2: There a little bit. Texas Roadhouse is amazing. She withheld
- 34:50Speaker 2: her fire. Light them up.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Linda didn't really light them up. She kind of painted
- 34:53Speaker 3: the target, but then she backed off a little bit.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Steve in New York. What have you got for us, Steve?
- 35:00Speaker 6: Hey, guys. Love the show there. Buck, this is possibly
- 35:04Speaker 6: for you in particular because you sound like a pasta
- 35:07Speaker 6: lover like I am, and I typically have it like
- 35:10Speaker 6: three times a week maybe. But if you cook pasta
- 35:14Speaker 6: first and cool it off in the fridge and reheat it,
- 35:18Speaker 6: it changes a lot of its structure to a starch,
- 35:21Speaker 6: which affects your blood sugar a lot less and also
- 35:25Speaker 6: has less of a calorie factor. The only thing you've
- 35:29Speaker 6: got to do is leave it al dente when you
- 35:33Speaker 6: put it in the refrigerator so that it doesn't turn
- 35:36Speaker 6: into a mush.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Steve, thank you for calling in.
- 35:39Speaker 3: I just want to say that actually when I was
- 35:41Speaker 3: talking about Alfredo, the problem with the Alfredo is the
- 35:44Speaker 3: massive amount of butter and cream that you're eating.
- 35:46Speaker 2: It's not actually the pasta. It's the sauce.
- 35:49Speaker 3: And I think Alfredo was actually invented in America.
- 35:53Speaker 2: It's not even Italian.
- 35:55Speaker 1: I will say this. Italian pasta is healthier. You go
- 36:00Speaker 1: to Italy and you eat their pasta there. You will think, oh,
- 36:04Speaker 1: my goodness, I'm going to put on so much weight.
- 36:07Speaker 1: And then you're going to come back to the United
- 36:09Speaker 1: States and you're going to be blown away by how
- 36:12Speaker 1: much pasta you can eat.
- 36:13Speaker 2: It's healthier. They make it healthier over there.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Well, actually, according to Grok, it was invented in Rome
- 36:19Speaker 3: in 1908 by restaurateur Alfredo di Lelio.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 36:23Speaker 6: Okay. Okay.
- 36:24Speaker 2: I don't know.
