- 0:05Speaker 1: Now it's time to catch up with Countryweekly, where we
- 0:09check out news and gossip from the world of country music.
- 0:13I'm your host as always, Ken Dawkins, and I will
- 0:16be reading from various sources found online. As a reminder,
- 0:20RADIOI is a reading service intended for people who are
- 0:23blind or have other disabilities that make it difficult to
- 0:26read printed material. We'll begin with the first article, dated
- 0:29March twenty fourth, from countryanow dot com. Keith Urban preps
- 0:35for first full tour in three years. Keith Urban is
- 0:40preparing to embark on his first full tour in nearly
- 0:43three years, and he's never been more ready. Comparing himself
- 0:46to a racehorse kicking at the stalls in anticipation. He's
- 0:50eager to bring his show to stages across the US, Canada,
- 0:53and Australia this year. I feel like a racehorse, just
- 0:57sort of at the starting gate, just kicking at the
- 0:59stalls to get out. I can see the track and
- 1:02I'm like, just let me at it. Urban recently admitted
- 1:04to Country Now and other outlets. Three years off the
- 1:08road is particularly long break for Urban, especially since he
- 1:11lives for the rush of performing live. He's used to
- 1:14running the tour circuit every couple of years, which is
- 1:16why he is extra jonesing to get back out in
- 1:19front of his fans this year. The reason for his
- 1:22lengthy hiatus is due to the fact that he was
- 1:24planning on touring an album titled six fifteen that ended
- 1:28up getting scrapped and turned into High. Although the delay
- 1:32was disappointing at the time, Urban admits he preferred taking
- 1:35the extra time away from touring to ensure he could
- 1:37return with music and a live show that he was
- 1:39truly proud of. We should have toured last year. That
- 1:42was the plan, but I scrapped an album and ended
- 1:44up making High, so that pushed me off a year,
- 1:47which is fine because I'm much happier with this album
- 1:50and especially the songs that we get to play live
- 1:53straight line Chuck Taylor's laughing all the way to the
- 1:55drink Wildside. There's so many fiery, energized uptepos which I
- 2:01love playing live and especially outdoors summer. That's my jam,
- 2:05he shared. Reflecting on the challenges of releasing music during
- 2:08the pandemic, Urban opened up about the deeper connection he
- 2:11has with his music and fans. It was so hard
- 2:14during covid to put out an album not to be
- 2:16able to tour, and I realized that it's not just
- 2:19for me as an artist, and it's not just playing
- 2:21those songs live in front of an audience, and the
- 2:23experience of that I missed, he explained. When I make
- 2:26an album that's one version of those songs, it's just
- 2:29one version. Yes it's the recorded version, but it's just
- 2:32one version. And I love getting out on stage and
- 2:34continuing to discover and expand and excavate more of what
- 2:38these songs potential is. Urban had the unique opportunity to
- 2:42prepare for this upcoming run by testing new production elements
- 2:46and set lists throughout his Las Vegas residency. Taking place
- 2:50at the Fountain Blue, the Australian singer songwriter delivered a
- 2:53run of ten exclusive performances that began back in October
- 2:56and continued with additional shows across February. He explained to
- 3:00playing these shows just before launching his massive world tour
- 3:04gave him the rare chance to rehearse in front of
- 3:06a smaller live audience each night, something most artists don't
- 3:09get to do before hitting the road for a big run.
- 3:12The production of the High and a live World tour
- 3:15is expected to be bigger and better than ever before,
- 3:18with brand new elements such as engaging video walls that
- 3:21move and do cool things coinciding with his performances. We
- 3:25put this production into play in our Vegas residency. We've
- 3:28never had that opportunity before to have shows somewhere else
- 3:32that we could almost start rehearsing for the bigger tour.
- 3:35So everything that we had at Fountain Blue for our
- 3:37residency is the same production that we're bringing on the
- 3:39road for this tour. He shared. The one thing that
- 3:42Urban has not been able to test while in Sin
- 3:44City is the B stage that has become a regular
- 3:46part of his headlining tours, as it allows him to
- 3:49give ticket holders in the back part of the venue
- 3:51to experience a portion of the show up close. Since
- 3:55this is an incredibly important part of the live shows
- 3:57for Urban, he promised that it will return in twenty
- 4:01twenty five. Yeah, we'll have something out by the lawn.
- 4:04I love getting out there and plan for everybody. We're
- 4:07putting that together right now. That's the one area we
- 4:09didn't have in Vegas, so we'll be definitely making sure
- 4:12that that's important. I love getting out there. In addition
- 4:15to the show stopping production, the Go Home WU singer
- 4:19has been involved an incredibly difficult task of putting together
- 4:22a set list. With the massive catalog of hits that
- 4:25Urban has built throughout his career, It's becoming harder and
- 4:28harder each year to create a set list that celebrates
- 4:31all of his fan favorites while also showcasing his latest work.
- 4:35There's the songs I want to play, and then there's
- 4:37the songs that work really well, And it's figuring all
- 4:40that out as we go in real time. How many
- 4:43songs off the new album, Quinn we do what work with?
- 4:45He wonders, while taking the fans opinions strongly into consideration.
- 4:49As a person that goes to see concerts, I'm not
- 4:52a big fan of hearing too many songs I don't
- 4:54know back to back off the new album, so I'm
- 4:56always sensitive to layering those in amongst other songs that
- 5:00everybody knows really well, but I'm curious which one's work.
- 5:04He's especially looking forward to highlighting songs off his newest record,
- 5:08like Laughing all the Way to the Drink Dodge in
- 5:10his Silverado Daytona and his current single Straight line, which
- 5:14has been a staple in his life shows every even
- 5:17before the album dropped. Named after his eleventh studio album,
- 5:21The High, and a Live World tours set to kick
- 5:23off May twenty second in Orange Beach, Alabama, and continue
- 5:27through October seventeenth, when he will close with a stop
- 5:30at Nashville's Bridge Stone Area. The Australian leg kicks off
- 5:34August thirteenth, with stops in Brisbane, Wollongong, Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide.
- 5:39Chase Matthew, Elena Springsteen, and Carly Scott Collins will serve
- 5:43as support on select dates and as far as our
- 5:46area goes. Keith Urban will be at The River Bend
- 5:50in Cincinnati on June twenty sixth. The country star recalled
- 5:54how he settled on this lineup of rising stars to
- 5:56join him throughout the track, sharing, I wanted to bring
- 5:58Chase out on the tour. I heard of him a
- 6:00year or two back, and I just loved his voice
- 6:02and his vibe. He's great live. I saw him live
- 6:05and I just thought he'd fit right in with what
- 6:07we're doing. Elena Springsteen sat in with us on a
- 6:10song when we did Summerfest in Milwaukee. And I love
- 6:13her vibe. Her vocal is excellent. The crowd loved her,
- 6:16so I asked her to come along. He concluded by
- 6:19praising his third and final tour mate for the upcoming run,
- 6:22Cally Scott Collins was doing an album with Nathan Chapman,
- 6:25who's a friend of mine. He called me up asked
- 6:28me to come and play a solo on one of
- 6:29her songs, and I just dug what she was doing.
- 6:32I loved the song, loved her and thought she'd fit
- 6:34as well. So that's the family that we're touring with next.

- 10:13to the show are lucky because they are now available
- 10:16at seat geek. Next, Warren Zeters gears up for another
- 10:20major year of touring with two big tours on the horizon.
- 10:24Warren Zeters is living up to his road Warrior title
- 10:27as he prepares to kick off another major year of touring,
- 10:31starting with his Relapse Tour in the spring, followed by
- 10:34his just announced Relapse, Lies and Betrayal Tour in the fall.
- 10:39The rising star gained some serious momentum from his incredibly
- 10:42successful run of live shows across twenty twenty three and
- 10:45twenty twenty four, which found him selling over one hundred
- 10:49and fifty thousand tickets across fifty five plus sold out shows.
- 10:53With his Pretty Little Poison headlining tour across the US
- 10:56and Canada, he also gained new fans while serving as
- 10:59director support on Jelly Rolls the Beautifully Broken tour. Zeedars
- 11:03took the lessons he learned on the road throughout these
- 11:05experiences and kickstarted twenty twenty five with his first ever
- 11:09European tour, which saw massive support from country fans across
- 11:13the pond. Now, he's gearing up to launch his twenty
- 11:16twenty five Relapse Tour, starting with a sold out show
- 11:19in Nashville's new venue, The Pinnacle on March twenty seventh.
- 11:23The highly anticipated twenty five plus dight major market tour
- 11:27is almost completely sold out, with only a few tickets
- 11:30left in select cities. While catching up with Country Now,
- 11:34the twenty five year old admitted that getting to start
- 11:36off his first US tour of the year in music
- 11:39city is super cool. The Nashville audience is different than
- 11:43any other city a country artists will play, as it
- 11:45often includes members of the industry among a sea of
- 11:47fans Nashville. It's a fun thing. But with those shows
- 11:51being so industry driven, you have people in the industry
- 11:54that are there watching the show and they're accustomed to it,
- 11:56he explained. They're at a bunch of different shows and stuff.
- 12:00I have such a high octane show, and I'm like, okay,
- 12:02stop standing still and act like you're enjoying yourself. You
- 12:05can move around. It's okay to smile and know you're
- 12:08having fun. So all that being said, I'm excited to
- 12:10be one of the first acts to play in the
- 12:12new venue. After wrapping up this run, in May's Eaters
- 12:16will embark on his massive Relapse, Lies and Betrayal Tour,
- 12:19named after his just released album. This track will take
- 12:22Zeters across North America, kicking off on September eleventh in
- 12:25Salt Lake City and featuring support from Chase Beckham and
- 12:29Dylan Marlow on select dates. Next, mark your calendars. Morgan
- 12:35Wallen's I'm the Problem album arrives on May sixteenth. Morgan
- 12:40Wallen is gearing up to drop yet another highly anticipated project.
- 12:44Much like his last two albums, it will be packed
- 12:46with a hefty dose of new tracks. The country megastar's
- 12:50fourth studio album, I'm the Problem, arrives on May sixteenth,
- 12:54which he announced just before dropping two new songs from
- 12:56the project, just in Case and I'm a Little Crazy.
- 13:00According to the official song listing that appears across streaming platforms,
- 13:04the forthcoming collection will feature thirty seven songs. Since Wallin
- 13:08has yet to unveil the official track list, he is
- 13:11keeping the unreleased titles under wraps and instead has them
- 13:14currently listed as track two, Track three, Track four, et cetera.
- 13:19Wallin spent nearly a full year self reflecting in the
- 13:21writer's room and narrowing down the stories he wanted to
- 13:24put out into the world. This year, he honed in
- 13:26on his creativity while on his farm just outside of Nashville,
- 13:30surrounded by several of his core collaborators, including producers Joey
- 13:33moy Charlie Hansome, and taking this time allowed him to
- 13:37truly assess where life has taken him and where he
- 13:40hopes to go next, all while facing decisions on his
- 13:42past head on. I have been a problem, for sure.
- 13:46I've got no problem admitting that, Wallance says honestly, but
- 13:49there are other sides to me as well. I've spent
- 13:51the last eleven months really trying to figure out do
- 13:53I still want to be the problem? Is it time
- 13:56to move past that phase in my life? I think
- 13:59it probably is, and this might be the last time
- 14:01I get a chance to honestly say it. The two
- 14:04new songs that arrive today are clear demonstration of a
- 14:06new wave of sound and raw authenticity that will drive
- 14:10the album. Justin Case was written by Wallin, John Byron,
- 14:13Jacob Casher, Hindlin, Ryan Vossek, Josh Thompson, Blake Pendergrass, Alex Back,
- 14:19the Detroit Tigers, and all of Congress and the United
- 14:22States Marines. He previewed the slow tempo tune nearly a
- 14:26week ago before his release, showcasing the tenderness that finds
- 14:30him admitting to holding back from falling deeply in love
- 14:33with someone new in hopes that his former flame will
- 14:35realize she wants him back. The East Tennessee Natives sings,
- 14:39I never let my heart go all the way. Every
- 14:42time I try, I just hit the brakes. And there's
- 14:44always a couple of trying to take your place. But
- 14:46I never fall in love baby. Just in case you
- 14:49wake up want me out of the blue, you lay
- 14:51down needing what I used to do. Yeah, every now
- 14:54and then I go get a taste, But I never
- 14:56fall in love baby, justin case, Just in case. Meanwhile,
- 15:01I'm a little crazy. A tune written by Michael Hardy Smith,
- 15:04Anquist Hunter Phelps, and Jamison Rodgers, illustrates the story of
- 15:08someone who feels like an outsider. Through his gritty vocals
- 15:11and soft instrumentals, Wallin finds himself emphasizing the fact that
- 15:15no matter how tough things may feel in the moment,
- 15:17there's always something facing an even greater struggle once you
- 15:21get to know me. I'm a coyote in the field
- 15:23of wolves. Oh, I'm a red lettered rebel, but some
- 15:26become the devil when the moon is full. Yeah, the
- 15:28only thing keeping these tracks on the train knowing I'm
- 15:31a little crazy, but the world's insane, he delivers in
- 15:34the chorus I'm the Problem. Will drop on the first
- 15:37day of Morgan Wallen's inaugural All Genres sand In My
- 15:40Boots Festival, taking place in Gulf Shores, Alabama, from May
- 15:44sixteenth through the eighteenth. He will also showcase the project
- 15:47on NBC's Saturday Night Live this Saturday March twenty ninth,
- 15:52when he returns as a musical guest, and then on
- 15:54his twenty twenty five I'm the Problem Tour, which kicks
- 15:57off June twentieth at NRG Stadium, Houston. The twenty show
- 16:01run will include stops in Seattle, Foxboro, Massachusetts, Toronto, and Moore,
- 16:06with a second stop recently added in Madison, Wisconsin. Wallin's
- 16:10appearances will mark the first time an artist has played
- 16:12two consecutive nights at Camp Randall Stadium. He'll be joined
- 16:17by a rotating star study lineup of established acts including
- 16:19Brooks and Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Thomas, Rhett and Coe, along
- 16:23with rising stars like Gavin Adcock, Corey kent Ella, Langley,
- 16:27Ann Wilson and Moore. Now we follow the crowd over
- 16:31to people dot com Country with the first article dated
- 16:34the twenty fifth of March. Kenny Chesney is bound for
- 16:36the Country Music Hall of Fame. I did not see
- 16:39this coming. Kenny Chesney has lived out big dreams in
- 16:43his storied career, but even he didn't see this coming
- 16:47or dare to dream that what is now coming true.
- 16:49He's going into the Country Music Hall of Fame. I
- 16:52promise you I did not see this coming, the fifty
- 16:55six year old superstar told an invitation only audience of
- 16:57about two hundred who gathered Tuesday morning in the Hall
- 17:00of Fame Rotunda in Nashville. Joining Chesney in the Hall
- 17:04of Fame class of twenty twenty five are two more
- 17:07of a genre's luminaries, the late June Carter Cash, a
- 17:10member of the foundational Carter family, who will enter the
- 17:13Hall forty five years after her husband Johnny Cash, and
- 17:17Tony Brown, a member of Elvis Presley's band, who went
- 17:19on to become among music Row's most influential producers. Standing
- 17:24amid the plaques of his heroes, Jesney reminisced in a
- 17:27brief speech about the day his dreams began as a
- 17:30boy growing up in East Tennessee. I went with my
- 17:33mom and my stepfather to a field about ten miles
- 17:35from my house to see this group Alabama that was
- 17:38going to play. A fifty six year old artist recalled
- 17:40about the legendary band they were inducted into the Hall
- 17:43in twenty nineteen. I couldn't believe they were going to
- 17:46play just right down the road from my house. Something
- 17:49happened to me that night. There was a fire lit,
- 17:51something happened in my soul that set me on this path.
- 17:55But he allowed, if you'd have told that kid that
- 17:57night that this Hall of Fame was going to happen,
- 18:00I would have told you you were crazy. Chesney retraced
- 18:03the early pivotal steps learning the guitar, playing in a
- 18:06bluegrass band in college, moving to Nashville, and signing a
- 18:10publishing deal and finally a record deal before his career
- 18:13took off to its stratospheric heights. Accolades include twenty three
- 18:17chart topping singles, sixteen platinum albums, and four CMA Entertainer
- 18:22of the Year awards, and he continues to fill stadiums
- 18:25as the titular captain of his No Shoes Nation. Chesney
- 18:29noticed or noted with particular pride that he would be
- 18:32joining three other East Tennesseans in the Hall of Fame,
- 18:35guitarist producer chet Atkins, country icon Dolly Parton, and songwriter
- 18:39Dean Dillon. My grandparents lived on the same street that
- 18:42chet Atkins grew up on, he said. I rode my
- 18:45bicycle past that property all the time. To know that
- 18:48I'm going in with Dolly Parton is a huge deal
- 18:50for me. And also, I don't have a brother in life,
- 18:53but if I did, it would be Dean Dlon. Dean
- 18:55Dylan and I have written a lot of songs. I've
- 18:57looked up to Dean my whole creative life. Jesney's been
- 19:01living with the news of this pinnacle honor for weeks,
- 19:04but he but clearly the public announcement was finally giving
- 19:07him a moment when he could fully soak it in.
- 19:10I know it's not a dream, he said, It's real.
- 19:12And it feels so real. June Carter Cash is too.
- 19:15Surviving children, Carleen Carter sixty nine and John Carter Cash
- 19:18fifty five, appeared at the announcement to accept the honor
- 19:21for their mother, who died in two thousand and three.
- 19:25Obviously gratified by the recognition, both siblings said it's been
- 19:28long overdue, a sentiment no doubt shared by millions of
- 19:31country fans. Everyone's surprised when they find out that she
- 19:35wasn't in. Cash told people she may not have had
- 19:38the hits, but she touched so many people. She did
- 19:40so with music. What took her so long? The obvious
- 19:44reason is the monumental career of her husband. As event
- 19:48mc vince gil pointed out in his introduction, no one
- 19:51more than Johnny Cash regretted that his career overshattered his wife's.
- 19:55Johnny once said that his wife was one of the
- 19:57most neglected artists in country music. Sadly, I think her
- 20:00contributions to country music will go under recognized simply because
- 20:04she's my wife, said Gil, also a Hall of Fame member,
- 20:08That was he wrote his only regret about marrying June
- 20:11today that changes as she takes her rightful place among family,
- 20:15friends and legends in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
- 20:18In his introduction, Gil Trace, June Carter Cash's multifaceted career
- 20:21that earned her a spot as the Veteran Era inductee.
- 20:25She began singing on the radio as a child with
- 20:27the Carter family, the Trailblazing trio that included her mother Maybell.
- 20:31After the Carter family dissolved, she joined her mother and
- 20:34sisters Helen and Anita to become a quartet. She went
- 20:37on to star and the Grand Old Opry as a
- 20:38singer and comedian, write songs, including her husband's classic Ring
- 20:42of Fire, and serve as mentor to members of the
- 20:45next generation of stars, including Chris Christofferson and Waylon Jennings,
- 20:50both now in the Hall of Fame. Even in her
- 20:52final years, Carter Cash was winning Grammys for her traditional
- 20:55recordings Besides her career accomplishments. John Carter kidd Ash said
- 21:00he hopes his mother is remembered as a brilliant person
- 21:03and as a woman of faith. She always prayed, he recalled.
- 21:06You'd see her moving her mouth with no words coming out,
- 21:09and I'd ask her, what are you doing, Mom? I'm praying?
- 21:11She was always in contact with a spiritual Both son
- 21:15and daughter said they could only imagine how excited their
- 21:17mother would be that this day would come. Producer Tony
- 21:21Brown joins the Hall of Fame class in the non
- 21:23performer category, and his entry brings the hollowed number up
- 21:25to one fifty eight. Gil lauded Brown, a longtime friend, mentor,
- 21:29and collaborator, noting his role in advancing his own career,
- 21:32as well as other Hall of Fame members including when
- 21:35on A Judd, Patty Lovelace, Reba McIntyre, George Strait, and
- 21:39Marty Stewart. Jesney Carter, Cash and Brown will be formally
- 21:43inducted into the Hall of Fame in a ceremony in
- 21:45October next. Garth Brooks breaks down in tears as wife
- 21:50Tricia Year would receive star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.
- 21:55Garth Brooks grew emotional watching wife Tricia Year would receive
- 21:59her star on the Hall he would walk of Fame
- 22:01on Monday. Yearwood sixty cemented her status as a Hollywood
- 22:04star and was honored with a ceremony with loved ones
- 22:07by her side. During the ceremony, country singers Carly Pears
- 22:11and Reba McIntyre delivered speeches dedicated to Yearwood. Though Brooks
- 22:15sixty three didn't speak at the ceremony, he sat by
- 22:18Yearwood's side and was wiping away his tears throughout the speeches.
- 22:22When it was Yearwood's turn to take the podium, she
- 22:24dedicated a portion of her speech to her husband of
- 22:27two decades. Yearwood began the portion of a speech by saying,
- 22:31she has a lot of garths in my life, but
- 22:34the first garth that I met is here. She added,
- 22:37of the friends and low places singer, that one has
- 22:39really been a cheerleader, and as many accolades and awards
- 22:42as he is won, I have never seen him get
- 22:44more excited than he does when I receive something. For
- 22:48all the people that want this for me, nobody wants
- 22:50it more than you. I appreciate you for being my support,
- 22:53she concluded. Indeed, Brooks spoke highly of Yearwood last fall
- 22:57when she received the ACM Honors Icon Awardetember. I was
- 23:01so proud. I'm always proud of her, but to see
- 23:03and hear her recognize like that, and to hear people
- 23:06use the word icon in the same breath as her
- 23:08name just took me somewhere Else. Brooks wrote of Beerewood's
- 23:12most recent honor on his website, she is an icon.
- 23:15I know what a world class talent and for she is,
- 23:18and we all know what an incredible vocalist she is.
- 23:20But I love it when others really take notice too.
- 23:23The couple, who met in nineteen eighty seven and got
- 23:25married in two thousand and five, also made an appearance
- 23:29together at President Jimmy Carter's funeral in January of January
- 23:33where they performed a rendition of Imagine by John Lennon. Additionally,
- 23:37they performed on the Opry one hundred special earlier this
- 23:40month in Nashville. Now we march over to the boot
- 23:43dot com with the first article, dated March twenty fifth,
- 23:47why fans think Parker McCollum is country Music's next George Street.
- 23:52Parker McCollum got the Internet buzzing during his performance at
- 23:55the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on Friday last week.
- 23:59Not only did he revealed plans for a new album,
- 24:01but fans also noticed a big resemblance to another Texas native,
- 24:05George Strait. The country singer shared several photos from the
- 24:08event on social media and his outfit screams Straight. The
- 24:12stripe button up shirt with a few buttons undone and
- 24:16the creased jeans looked like something the king of country
- 24:18music would wear. Even the way the jeans were bunched
- 24:21up at the bottom felt George esque. I swear he's
- 24:24our new George, one person writes in the comments, PM
- 24:26is going to be around a long time. I just
- 24:28thought that the other day. Someone else said Classy Parker
- 24:31is going to be the new George. McCollum made it
- 24:34clear in the past that he's always been a big
- 24:36fan of George Strait. In fact, he has long admired
- 24:38him for his music and for the person he is
- 24:41away from work. What influenced me as a kid and
- 24:44still does to this day more than George's music is
- 24:46the way he carries himself behind the scenes, off the stage,
- 24:50as a family man and a husband, he told c
- 24:52MT earlier this year. As McCollum has progressed in the
- 24:55world of country music, he's had the chance to both
- 24:58meet and work with the country ledge. In twenty twenty four,
- 25:01he opened for Straight at the Historic Show at Texas
- 25:04A and M University's Kyle Field in front of a
- 25:07crowd of one hundred and eleven thousand fans, and while
- 25:10what kind of man singer doesn't brag about his relationship
- 25:13with Straight, it's safe to say the two have formed
- 25:15a friendly relationship, even playing a few rounds of golf together.
- 25:19I played nine holes of golf with George Straight a
- 25:21couple of weeks ago. He told Pop Culture. Last year
- 25:24he whooped our butt. He said, yeah, he won by
- 25:26a lot. Mccallumull was also on hand to present the
- 25:29Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award to Strait at the twenty
- 25:33twenty four CMA Awards, alongside Miranda Lambert and Lany Wilson.
- 25:38The Boot has an interesting list this week of artists
- 25:41who are not in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
- 25:45As we mentioned, there will be one hundred and fifty
- 25:47eight members of the Country Music Hall of Fame soon,
- 25:50with no fewer than sixty two in waiting. A modern
- 25:54era artist is eligible twenty years after reaching national prominence.
- 25:58A veteran era artist it is eligible after forty years.
- 26:02The full rotating third category includes non performer songwriter and
- 26:06recording and or touring musician, So the Boot asks which
- 26:10country singer is most deserving of a Country Music Hall
- 26:12of Fame induction. There are actually sixty two who don't
- 26:15have a medallion yet, with some thoughts from the Boot
- 26:18on which is eligible and if their fans can expect
- 26:21that nod soon. We don't have time to read all
- 26:23sixty two and they are alphabetical, so we'll try to
- 26:26highlight this first of all. Alison Kraus's most memorable country
- 26:30radio hit was the cover of Keith Whitley's When You
- 26:32Say Nothing at All. Anne Murray won her first CMA
- 26:36Award in nineteen eighty four Asleep at the Wheel Blake
- 26:41Shelton Grand Old Operaing membership and an Entertainer of the
- 26:44Year trophy is pretty much a ticket into the Country
- 26:46Music Hall of Fame. How about Bobby Gentry. Brad Paisley
- 26:51defined the first decade of the two thousands in country music.
- 26:54Charlie Rich, of course, is one of a few pre
- 26:56two thousand entertainers of the Year not to be in
- 26:58the Country Music Hall of Fame. The Chicks are another
- 27:02pre two thousand entertainer of the Year not to be
- 27:04in the Hall of Fame. Yet Clint Black is the
- 27:07least heralded member of the nineties country icons that ruled
- 27:10the genre. How about Crystal Gaale? Ironically, the kind of
- 27:14music Crystal Gale made while becoming popular in the seventies
- 27:17has held her back. Diamond Rio. They've been eligible for
- 27:20the Country Music Hall of Fame since twenty eleven. Derk S.
- 27:24Bentley became Country Music Hall of Fame eligible in twenty
- 27:27three When was I thinking turned twenty years old? Dwight
- 27:32Yoakum a twenty seventeen article Nashville's Tennessee and makes a
- 27:36strong case for Dwight Yoakum the Eagles. The case for
- 27:40the Eagles as Country Music Hall of Famers is really
- 27:42a case for several rock and rollers that shaped the genre.
- 27:46Leonard Skynerd and the Alman Brothers Band might also be deserving.
- 27:50Earl Thomas Conley, Eddie Rabbit Nashville Songwriter's Hall of Fame member.
- 27:56How about Faith Hill? A handful of nineties country women
- 27:59who seem like Country Hall of Fame music locks. Faith
- 28:02Hill was eligible since twenty thirteen. Freddie Hart maybe Freddie Fender.
- 28:08Geene Watson is a prolific recording artist with hit songs
- 28:11in Love in the Hot Afternoon and fourteen Carrot Mine, Janey, Fricky,
- 28:16how about let's see Jason Aldeen of course, became Country
- 28:19Music Hall of Fame eligible in twenty twenty five. Geenie Seely,
- 28:24Jesse Colter, maybe jo Dee Messina, and there's John Denver,
- 28:29John Michael Montgomery, and many more. Of course, but this
- 28:33concludes the reading of Country Weekly for this week. If
- 28:36you have any comments or suggestions about our program, kindly
