- 1:51It's time now for Johnny Dellar Vic Carson, Johnny State Unity Life. Oh,
- 1:59what's in your mind? You got a job for you if you're interested.
- 2:01I just received a report from our agent in Venice, Venice. Oh,
- 2:05I'd love it so off. Nights along the Canal and California, Johnny,
- 2:10Okay, what is it? Murder Bernard Slade, aged fifty six penny
- 2:14arcade operator in Ocean Park. That's right right next door to Venus. Go
- 2:17on, Well, the body was found in living quarters at the rear of
- 2:21an arcade in the amusement zone. Killer unknown and Barney. Slade must have
- 2:25been quite a movie fan. The police found his apartment plastered with photographs of
- 2:30the movie Greats Silent Screen Vintage. That is at least a dozen of the
- 2:34more of MAVs Gale, a real queen in her day. Yeah, the
- 2:37vamp time. I know. Oh it's just a vague recollection, you understand.
- 2:40Yeah. Well. The police also reported that somebody the killer probably had
- 2:45drawn a big question mark in red crayon over each of Mavis Gale's photographs.
- 2:49Interesting if it means anything we think it does, Johnny, especially since Mavis
- 2:53Gale is named as the beneficiary and Bernard Slade's insurance policy Tonight and every Weekday
- 3:06Night. Bob Bailey in the Transcribed Adventures of the Man with the Action Packed
- 3:09expens a cout America's Fabulous freelance insurance Investigators, Truly Johnny Dollar. Expense account
- 3:30submitted by Special Investigator Johnny Dollar to State Unity Life Home Office, Hartford,
- 3:35Connecticut. Following is an account of expenses incurage during my investigation of the Silent
- 3:38Queen Matter. Expense account out of won two hundred and ten dollars and sixty
- 3:46five cents playing Cave Aran incidentals to Ocean Park, California. As soon as
- 3:51I checked into my hotel, I got in touch with homicide Sergeant McKay.
- 3:54They said would probably be down at the pier. I saved your care far
- 3:58on this one. Vic. It was a beautiful moonlit night at the beach.
- 4:01A warm breeze was blowing in from the Pacific. Hemy signs was only
- 4:04a three minute walk from my hotel to the fund zone. A gaudy array
- 4:10of neon and noise, an occasional whiff of salt air seeping through the aromatic
- 4:15blend of fried shrimp, hamburgers and popcorn. Business was good and the penny
- 4:18arcade had a sheriff. I headed straight to the blonde sitting in the chain
- 4:23boots. She looked tired and faded. Hi, we have a dins worth
- 4:27of pennies. Were you hear real plunge? Your oh money means nothing to
- 4:30me? Well here you are? Don't spend them all in one place?
- 4:34Well, you know, I might at that. This machine here looks qaly
- 4:38interesting. Lola the farmer's daughter, Oh, it's kind of racing. How's
- 4:43your blood pressure? And try uh that row along the wall over there?
- 4:47I wouldn't do howckily carry on a conversation if I was on the other side
- 4:50of the room. Who wants conversation? I do? You don't look like
- 4:56the lonely type. Never can't tell all ken you lock? You run along
- 5:00while I finished stack in these pennies. Huh nah, Seriously, all I
- 5:03want is a few answers. Well I got more than a few. Honey,
- 5:06what's on your mind? Bernie slave? What about Bernie? You work
- 5:13for him a long? Who wants to know? My name is Dollar,
- 5:15Johnny Dollar. I'm an insurance investigator here. Oh, I'd appreciate any information
- 5:20you can give me. Hey, your company dropped a bundle on Barnie.
- 5:24Huh, well that remains to be seen. Oh, Bonnie was a nice
- 5:28guy, nice as they come. What do you want to know, We'll
- 5:31just start anywhere. You want to know about his friends, or maybe after
- 5:35what happened to him, you'd better tell me about his enemies. He didn't
- 5:39have none, not one. Uh. Must have been quite a fellow,
- 5:43he was, mister Okay, let's get back to his friends. Then just
- 5:46about everybody along the pier, and he won in particular. Oh Frank jessp
- 5:51for one, runs a concession just down the way. Go on. Uh,
- 5:56Sam Hegstrom owns a fishing boat. Then there's Gas Kanakos r. Of
- 6:00Ghostein. Like I said, Barney had a lot of prentis, including you,
- 6:05including me. How about Mavis Gail? I don't know the day well
- 6:11she she used to be in the movies The Silent Car. Oh. I
- 6:15heard about her, only I never met her. Didn't she ever come around?
- 6:17I never saw her? Did Barnie ever talk about her? Not to
- 6:20me? Didn't? Why? Why? What? Why should Barney talk about
- 6:27Mavis Gail? Oh? I just thought he might have mentioned it sometime or
- 6:30other. Uh, Is that the door to Barney's apartment back there? Yeah,
- 6:35that's right. Why if I have a look around, that'd be up
- 6:39to Sachian McKay. Well, look, if he comes in, tell him
- 6:41where am Will you tell him yourself? He's back there in Barney's apartment.
- 6:45Now. I walked on back and took note of the heavy padlock dangling open
- 6:51on the door. Leaning in the Barney Slave's apartment, the small living room
- 6:58was empty, yet it was crowded too, crowded with memories of the son
- 7:02of greats a Zimova, Valentino, Pickford and Fairbanks, Me and Swanson,
- 7:09the Gish girls, lawn chaining, all dozens more. They're photographs filling practically
- 7:15every inch of wall space. Mava scale was there, too, a big
- 7:17question mark in red grand drawn over each of the photos. I moved through
- 7:21a narrow kitchen. The back door was wide open. I stepped outside.
- 7:28Who are you, oh, Johnny Dollar, You must be Sergeant McKay.
- 7:31That's right, Yeah, You're office said you'd be here browsing around, So
- 7:34I'm browsing. There's something bothering you, Sergeant Murder always bothers me. Yeah,
- 7:41what you mean? Like those photos in there, maybe scale and the
- 7:45question marks on all of them, and that bothers me. Do you think
- 7:48the killer did it? Could be let's go back inside run or maybe Barney,
- 7:58huh what I'm talking about? The question marks could be pictures belonged to
- 8:03him. Yeah, yeah, he had quite a gallery here. Looks to
- 8:09me though, that summer missing. That's so? Why you know? So?
- 8:13Sergint The wallpaper isn't faded as badly where they used to be, and
- 8:18there are a lot of tack marks too. Okay, So who took him
- 8:20down? Bonnie? He could have soaked the killer, that's right. Have
- 8:26you found anybody who could tell you anything about him? I'm missing photographs?
- 8:28Not yet, Hey, Barty, keep a lot of money in here.
- 8:33Twiler didn't see anything, so Twilt James Blond out front of the change booth.
- 8:37Oh yeah, Barnie was sort of particular about his apartment. Never let
- 8:41anybody in as far as she knows. Not even his friends want to why.
- 8:45According to Twilt, he seldom used the arcade entrance, preferred to use
- 8:48the back door. Is that the one the killer used is standing wide open
- 8:52when the body was found, well, who found it? By the way,
- 8:54Twiler. When she showed up for work yesterday, the arcade was closed
- 8:58up, so she went around back. You know. So when Barney was
- 9:00killed, Doc figures around three am, two slugs from a thirty eight one
- 9:05would have been enough. Any signs of a struggle, Yeah, lamp over
- 9:09there was on the floor, that chair was turned over, and this table
- 9:11had been upset, pipe's medicine, bottles, pillboxes scattered around. Huh.
- 9:18Heavy bolt and chain on the inside of both doors. Barney didn't have to
- 9:22let a visitor in unless he wanted to, that's right. Of course,
- 9:26he could have run into the killer outside somewhere. I'm sure he could,
- 9:30only you don't think so unless Barney was in the habit of walking in his
- 9:33sleep. Uh. When we came in and found Barney was in pajamas and
- 9:37bathroom. The wall bed over there had been pulled out, was mussed up,
- 9:39so it figures he was probably asleep when the killer tapped on his door.
- 9:45He got up and let him in. Yet, according to Twilet,
- 9:48the place was off limits even to his friends. But she wasn't around all
- 9:52the time and didn't know all his friends. He found some others. I'd
- 9:54like to find one of them, in particular, a man Barney referred to
- 9:58as the preacher, just the preacher, no name, no, at least
- 10:03Sam Hextrom couldn't remember. And this preacher was he allowed into Barney's inner sanctum.
- 10:09Sam's pretty sure he saw the two of them come out the back door
- 10:11one night a little more than a week ago. Other times he spotted them
- 10:15taking a late evening stroll along the ocean front walk. M Did Sam ever
- 10:20talk with his preacher? No, but he got curious after a while asked
- 10:24Barney about it. Barney said, the man was a very old and dear
- 10:28friend. Let it go at that, And you haven't been able to find
- 10:31out anything more about him. Uh, I'm still checking. Wow, I
- 10:35would sure be a break if you could to locate this preacher. He might
- 10:39be able to tell us something about those missing photographs. What they were might
- 10:43also explain why the killer took him. Have you seen enough in here?
- 10:48Dollar? Oh? Yeah, sure, I guess that's said. Hey,
- 10:52tell me what does maybe Scale have to say about all this? I only
- 10:54got to talk with her just a couple hours ago, when she returned from
- 10:58Palm Springs. She was pretty upset when I told her about the crayon marks
- 11:01and her photographs. But naturally she couldn't offer any explanation none. How does
- 11:07she react to the news of Slade's death, tears and such. She's supposed
- 11:11to weep about it? Why not? Bonnie Slade must have been a pretty
- 11:15good friend of hers. After all, he named her as the beneficiary and
- 11:18his insurance policy. Oh that's interesting. Why when I talked with Mavis Gale
- 11:26she told me she never heard of Barney's Slade expense account. Adam two and
- 11:31three one dollar and ten cents phone call on Campfare the calls to Navis Gale's
- 11:37home in bel Air. The butler said, if it was important, I
- 11:41could find her at McCartney's mortuary in Venice. Camp Fair to Venice via what
- 11:45is lamping They called the speedway, one way alley lined with backyards and garbage
- 11:48cans. It took us less than a minute to cross over into Venice,
- 11:52a boom that had busted. I've been uncoling mixture of all broken down buildings
- 11:56in the sound of the sea, crumbling bridges, mosque canals, of paved
- 12:01streets, wandering disconsolately into sand dunes, and ending where the money a dream
- 12:07that had kind of died of a broken heart. Good evening, sir,
- 12:13Oh we're not Slade. Please, Yes, mister Slade is in the slumber
- 12:18room at the end of the hall. Is anyone with him? Oh?
- 12:22Indeed quite a number of his friends. Would you know maybus Gale if you
- 12:26saw her the silent green style? Indeed, I would, at least I
- 12:31think I would. She was one of my favorites. She hasn't shown yet.
- 12:37No, I you mean she's expected, so I understand where. Well
- 12:46that's nice. Oh, that is nice. I didn't know she was a
- 12:50friend of mister Slade's. Oh you know most of Barney's friends. I know
- 12:56most of the people along the pier, and they were all his friends.
- 13:00Well, how about one called the preacher? The preacher naturally, I'm very
- 13:05well acquainted with many men of the cloth. And if you could tell me
- 13:09his knee, I don't know. Look, you have a visitor's register here,
- 13:13don't you in each of the slumber rooms. Yes, just inside the
- 13:18door. Thanks. Where did you say mister Snide was down the hall?
- 13:22Last room on the leaves. The room was crowded with friends who'd come to
- 13:37pay their respects to be not slave. I eased over to the visitors register
- 13:41and gave it a fast rundown. There was nothing to indicate that a minister
- 13:45was among the mourners present. Then I heard the hall door creak open.
- 13:50There she was maybe a scale, certainly not at all what I expected a
- 13:54vamp of the silent screen to look like thirty years later, Slender, trim
- 13:58and am he tailored suit and even more attractive than the photographs had seen of
- 14:03her in Barney's apartment. She moved down the center aisle to the casket and
- 14:07stood there for a moment. As I walked toward her, she suddenly turned
- 14:11her eyes wide and staring, her lips moving sanity. Then she crumbled to
- 14:16the floor. I understand you've been trying to reach me. Dollar. That's
- 14:26right, sergeant, Okay, what's up? I got some news for you,
- 14:30Sergeant. Mavis Gale was once married to a small time movie actor named
- 14:33Tom Sandford. Seems he was murdered during a honey trip in the Sierra some
- 14:37twenty seven years ago. So Mayvis Gale just identified Barney Slade as Tom Sandford.
- 14:43What same man, Sergeant. She's still at the mortuary. Yeah,
- 14:46the manager's office I'll be over him five minutes, ride him four ten cents
- 14:56a cup of black coffee from Mayvis Gail, queen of the Silent Flickers.
- 15:01While she drank it, I elbowed my way past. Barney. Slade's friends
- 15:03gathered in the hall just outside the mortuary office and walked out through the street
- 15:09to do a little quiet thinking I didn't have time. Excuse me, mister
- 15:13dollar. Oh is it a fact about Mavis Gail? I mean she was
- 15:20Barney's wife. Why don't you pick that up? Well, mort thought he
- 15:22heard her say so mart a manager of the funeral partner, you were in
- 15:26his office, helped carry miss Gaile. There is it a fact, mister
- 15:31dollar? How do you know my name? I was gabbing with Twyler earlier
- 15:35tonight. She's the girl at the change desk in the penny arcade. Then
- 15:39I seen you in Sargeant McKay come out of Barney's apartment. Who are you,
- 15:43Frank Jessip? I run the mermaid bit over on the pierod you know,
- 15:48three baseballs for a quarter and you tried to dun to Don in the
- 15:50water tank. Yeah, I figure mort heard right that Mavis Gail used to
- 15:56be Barney's wife. Violence What the lady said, how do you like that
- 16:03old Barney married all this time? And that Mavis gay old time movie star,
- 16:08never breath the word of it to any of us. Sure can't get
- 16:12over it, and him being a picture player in the old days too.
- 16:17Do you recall ever seeing her around the arcade, mister jessep Nope. I
- 16:21think I would have recognized it tonight when she came in the mortuary, A
- 16:25real handsome woman. Can you think of anyone Barney might have told about his
- 16:29past? I don't think any of his friends knew mister Dollar, including Twilat
- 16:33James w Yes. That has she been with him long? Close to five
- 16:37years? What are you driving at, mister dollar? Barney was still a
- 16:41pretty good looking guy. She liked him a lot. Advice versa. Barney
- 16:47never talked it over with me. What did he talk about? O?
- 16:49Fishing mostly and pe nuckle. He was crazy about pe knuckle. Best I
- 16:56ever played with you playoff average couple times a week and Barney's apartment. Barney
- 17:00was kind of funny about that. None of us ever set foot in his
- 17:03place. Most of the time we played over at my bungle over on Sam's
- 17:08boat. I see say you being an insurance investigator, and all I was
- 17:14wondering was Mavis Gale. Excuse me, mister jessup, there's Sergeant McKay.
- 17:19You said five minutes, sergeant, you made it to three. She's still
- 17:23in their dollar. Yeah. Nice turn out of Barnie's friends. Only they're
- 17:26all out in the hole. Well, things got sort of frantic when Mavis
- 17:30took her nose down. I wanted to find out why did they? Mart
- 17:34knows it around seeing the office with her, had a chauffeur. His name
- 17:37is Ronald. I'll send them both out. I want to talk to Mavis
- 17:41Gale alone. I don't think you get much out of her. She really
- 17:44fell apart at the scenes. As it turned out, I was right at
- 17:49least about McKay not getting much out of Mavis Gale. She came out of
- 17:52the office a minute or soul later, with McKay and the chauffeur on either
- 17:56side, and I went along with the mourners into the street. They helped
- 18:00her inside the big blue Cadillac and she slumped down as far as she could
- 18:03get in the back seat, covered her face with a handkerchief. Then she
- 18:06was gone, okay, you people, break it up. You came here
- 18:10to see Barnie. Remember, sergeant, what is a dollar? But you
- 18:15happen to remember maybe Scale from the old days when she was a star?
- 18:18I mean, yeah, yeah, I guess. So why was she a
- 18:21pretty good actress? I'd say she was? Do you think she's still is?
- 18:26If you referring to that fainting spell? Dollar, you tell me you
- 18:30saw it and look pretty genuine. So I just wondered, as all,
- 18:34just wondering. Expenser cont Items five and six, four dollars sixty cents.
- 18:45One morning newspaper in camfair to made a Scale's bell Air home. Now that
- 18:49Bonnie Slade had been identified as Tom Sanford, husband of the old time movie
- 18:55Queen, The affair was splatted all over the front pages. There was also
- 18:59a complete account of twenty seven year old murder case in which the same Tom
- 19:02Sandford had presumably been killed with a shotgun blast during a hunting trip. The
- 19:07big white gates of the ex movie Queen's of State were locked when I got
- 19:10there, but there was a phone close by. I picked it up,
- 19:14leaned on the buzzer, no answer. Nothing. When I saw the car
- 19:18coming down the drive. I recognized Sergeant McKay at the wheel one dollars.
- 19:25Hi, you have a special pass to this place. If you're figuring on
- 19:29having to talk with Mavis Gay, you better put it off Doctor's orders.
- 19:32Still suffering from shock, Tom, Yeah, and I figure she's leveling.
- 19:36Hmmm. According to the newspaper, she and Tom had a pretty stormy time
- 19:40of it during their brief marriage. She was a star and he wasn't.
- 19:44Maybe that had something to do with it. She was also pretty popular in
- 19:47the film Colony. Oh. Tom had a few buddies too, at least
- 19:51four the men who went on that hunting trip with him. The case was
- 19:53investigated pretty thoroughly. They came out of it clean. You know, it'd
- 19:57be interesting to find out who wanted Tom sand dead, though, wouldn't it.
- 20:00The fellow hunter got his face blown off by a shotgun blast one at
- 20:03Sandford dead, only apparently Sandford beat him to the draw, right. Do
- 20:07you think somebody might have hired that would be killer who instead became the victim?
- 20:11What are you getting at? So the person who did the hiring thought
- 20:15the mission accomplished, but then recently learned that Tom Sandford was still alive.
- 20:18Posing as Barney Slade. You really have an imagination, So this time he
- 20:25does the job himself or herself. It's possible. Look, I know,
- 20:27Mayvis Gail Stance to collect twenty five thousand insurance unless, oh sure, unless
- 20:32you can hang it on her two attempts on Hobbie Tom Sandford. I'm not
- 20:36trying to hang this on anybody, Sergeant. The insurance company hired me to
- 20:38turn in a report and they'll pay off according to that report. I just
- 20:41want to be sure that's okay. Relax if you're going back to the beach,
- 20:47get in. Oh thanks. Why do you think he did it?
- 20:56Sergeant? Why do I think who did what? Sandford? Twenty seven years
- 21:03ago on a hunting trip. Why do you suppose he planted his identification and
- 21:07clothing on the man who tried to kill him and vanished. Who knows?
- 21:11Maybe he was in a gem like the idea of letting the world believe he
- 21:15was dead. And how about those question marks on Mavis Gail's photographs, Attie
- 21:19in there, Maybe we've been through that. Barney could have made those marks
- 21:23himself. Well, and here's the thought, Barney or Sandford, whichever you
- 21:27want to call him, might have wondered, could his wife have hired the
- 21:32killer? And is that why he drew those question marks? I thought you
- 21:37decided the killer drew them all right? Assume the killer drew them? Why
- 21:41you tell me? While I would certainly attract attention to Mavis Gail, wouldn't
- 21:45it an the eliminator is a possible suspect as far as Barney Slade's death is
- 21:48concerned. Yes, you're really determined to go after this woman, aren't you?
- 21:52Look McKee? I told you all? Kay, okay? Assuming the
- 21:56killer drew those question marks to direct attention to Mavis Gale, why would he
- 22:00want to do that? I can make a guess, can't you. Yeah?
- 22:07It could be blackmail? But why wait all these years for the simple
- 22:11reason he just picked up a little information recently. Maybe he got it from
- 22:15one of the men who were on that hunting trip. I think they're still
- 22:18around. Expense account at him seven ten dollars and fifty cents cave Fair and
- 22:26tips. It took me that long to find Milo Martin, actor's agent,
- 22:30one of the men who had been on that hunting trip twenty seven years ago.
- 22:33He operated out of a plush suite of offices on the Sunset Strip.
- 22:37He wasn't in, but his secretary of friendly and eca little doll named Lena,
- 22:41gave me a list of places where I might find him. I finally
- 22:44did out in a ranch near Chatsworth where a movie company was filming an epic
- 22:52yep oh Western, what else? Milon Martin was shortened around. He wore
- 22:57cowboy bootstunguery, he's no shirt. He was sitting in a wide flat rock
- 23:02setting himself. Oh yes, mister Dollar. I read about it in the
- 23:06morning paper. It came as a tremendous shot. Tom alive all these years,
- 23:11It's incredible. So well, according to the newspaper accounts, you were
- 23:14the one who first discovered the body that day twenty seven years ago. A
- 23:17horrible experience, terrifying and never forget it. We had been searching the hills
- 23:21all night, and then in the cold gray of dawn, there he was
- 23:23in the ravine Tom. Only it was in Tom. But the police are
- 23:27certain, I mean to say, the scale positively identified the man known as
- 23:32Barney Slade to be Tom Sander running a penny arcade in Ocean Park. It's
- 23:36incredible. Well, then, who was the man I found? In that
- 23:37ravine. We don't know, we may never know. And he wanted to
- 23:41kill Tom. But why you have no idea why anyone would have wanted to
- 23:45do away with me? Of course not. Oh I knew Tom was a
- 23:48wild sort. He never got along with most people. But well to resort
- 23:52to murder. You were his agent, weren't you, mister Markin. Yes,
- 23:53yes I was, I must confess. I only took him on as
- 23:56a client of police mapers. Oh you also represented his scale, I did.
- 24:00She was, she still is a truly wonderful person. With the Dollar,
- 24:04I understand the two of them weren't getting along too. Oh, that
- 24:07would be putting it mildly, mister Dollar. Was one frightful rah after another,
- 24:11wild hysterical sort of raw. What did they quarrel above it? Well?
- 24:15Tom was quite a gamble, and he also drank rather heavily. And
- 24:18he also fancied himself as quite a lady's man, and this made her sore.
- 24:22And he was also extremely jealous. Oh, Mayvius ever give him good
- 24:26cause to be No, of course not. Oh, he was always imagining
- 24:30all sorts of fantastic things about her. Actually, she was very much in
- 24:33love with him. That was my impression. At least tell me, mister
- 24:37Martin. Those other men who were on the Honey Trever are they still around?
- 24:41Well? Let me see. No, there's Trev for one. Trev.
- 24:45That's Francis Trevellian used to be Miss Gale's cameraman, independent producer. Now
- 24:48his pictures aren't very good, but they make money. How about this Jervis
- 24:52pocket Jarv Let me think no, oh, excuse me? Are you ready?
- 24:57Doll? I'll okay, that's all the director, he's a friend.
- 25:02Look about you like stage coaches, mister Dollar'm I gonna take him. I'm
- 25:04leading. Look what long they're finished up here? We'll ride the coach back
- 25:08to the ranch house. It's only a few miles, maybe five. And
- 25:11this is control. You love it all right? Not here? Get the
- 25:15boy, mister dollar. Brother, it's not true, Rummy is it?
- 25:21Okay? Doll? Got a doll? How do you like it? Mister
- 25:26Dollar? I know how John Wayne feels. Let me see now you you
- 25:32were at about nervious market and faster doll expense account? Ida mat anyone?
- 25:56Since one bottle of rubbing alcohol there was late that afternoon when I got back
- 26:00to my hotel. But before I could use the alcohol and my aching bones
- 26:03to pune rang Johnny Dollar. McKay, here this time I got news for
- 26:11you. Dollar. You ought to be real pleash. When did I sit
- 26:12down? I'm second thought, Maybe I won't. Okay, sorry, let's
- 26:18have it. Maybe is Gail said she didn't know her husband was alive all
- 26:21these years, that he was using the name Barney Slade running that arcade,
- 26:25Notion Park. So maybe she didn't tell us the truth. What do you
- 26:29mean? We got a witness, Dollar, someone who saw Maybis Gale hanging
- 26:32around the Penny Arcade two nights before the murder. Now here's our star to
- 26:51tell you about tomorrow's episode of this week's story. Tomorrow a bowl of little
- 26:55soup and I almost wind up in a cemetery. Join us, won't your
- 26:59true? Johnny Dollar? Yours Truly Johnny Dollars starrying Bob Bailey is transcribed in
- 27:11Hollywood, written by Adrian John Doeau. It is produced and directed by Jack
- 27:17Johnstone. Be sure to join us tomorrow night, same time and station for
- 27:21the next exciting episode of Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar. Roy Rowan speaking welcome
- 28:26back. Well once again we hear the Golden Age's radio's nostalgia for the era
- 28:37of silent films, but working into a pretty interesting plant. There's a lot
- 28:41that can be done here, and of course we have three more parts to
- 28:45explore it in, so I look forward to that. Now. I do
- 28:48have a little bit of a note for those of you who are who have
- 28:52signed up for a page on Facebook. Now some of you may have just
- 28:59hit the lock button on Facebook, but for many it's a great opportunity to
- 29:07be able to see our shows, to be able to if you have an
- 29:11episode that you hear that you really enjoy, to be able to share it
- 29:18with your friends by clicking the share button. Facebook has made some changes to
- 29:23the way its pages work, and if you merely like a page, that
- 29:29does not mean you will get updates on it. And so if you would
- 29:34like to receive updates on what we're doing, I would encourage you to go
- 29:40into to go to Facebook dot com slash Radio Detectives and where you see the
- 29:47checkbox marked like choose get notifications, and that way you can actually see what
- 29:55we're writing. And this is somewhat frustrating change for a lot of those of
- 30:00us who have Facebook pages and I kind of understand a lot of what went
- 30:06into some of the changes behind it, but a bunch of the if you
- 30:11don't click the like botton without going to visit the page. Now, the
- 30:17only way that people who own Facebook pages that you'd like to follow can actually
- 30:22communicate with you is by paying for ads, which kind of seems a bit
- 30:26backwards, But just click that you get notifications link if you would like to
- 30:32receive that. Now onto a listener comment on Johnny Dollar. This is actually
- 30:37a review of the Johnny Dollar feed and they say I've really enjoyed this,
- 30:45and I think we've definitely gotten that message that folks have enjoyed these serials.
- 30:48We had a few bumps at the beginning, but this has been some of
- 30:52the best fifty eight weeks of radio that we have ever experience, and it's
- 31:00just been so fun to bring it to you. And then I have a
- 31:04comment from Michael who says, Adam, as always, I love your show.
- 31:10I'm blown away at how good the latest Johnny to All Oar episodes have
- 31:12been. I really like Bob Bailey in this It's very good. It seems
- 31:15to fit him better than let George do it. Anyway. I also wanted
- 31:18to tell you I'm a big fan of Rocky Jordan. It falls in the
- 31:22realm of detective stories about people who aren't detectives. It always has some great
- 31:26foreign intrigue. I spent a year in Istanbul when I was younger, and
- 31:30it sometimes, in small ways, reminds me of those times. I hope
- 31:33you consider having it in your lineup. I've enjoyed listening to it at the
- 31:37times i've heard it. It has my vote. Again, thanks for what
- 31:41you do. It's the best program of its kind online. Well, thanks
- 31:44so much, Michael, and definitely have Rocky Jordan on our list. And
- 31:48that seems to be a one that people have been asking for recently, and
- 31:53it seemed like we go through phases with this. I remember when we first
- 31:57started the show had a lot of peace people requesting a Casey crime photographer and
- 32:02that kind of subsided Richard Diamond has been pretty consistent, and as I mentioned,
- 32:07we're going to get to that one in just a couple of years now.
- 32:10All right, Well, coming up tomorrow we begin our second run through
- 32:16of Pat Novak for Hire, and next Monday, be sure and listen for
- 32:22Manhunt, and in two weeks pursuit should say in three weeks pursuit. In
- 32:29the meantime, send your comments to Box thirteen at Great Detectives dot net and
- 32:32follow us on Twitter or Radio Detectives But from Boise, Otaho, this is
- 32:37your host, Adam graham Son and Off
