- 0:51Speaker 1: a band of below. Now begins the road to one
- 0:54Speaker 1: thousand subscribers. And that's pretty easy because man, I didn't
- 0:57Speaker 1: seen videos and Nick is eating chips and I go
- 1:01Speaker 1: look at the subscribe account. I'm like, word, Like, you
- 1:05Speaker 1: mean to tell me I'm trying all these chips? They
- 1:08Speaker 1: not making no money. It's easy if you like the
- 1:12Speaker 1: kind of content that is presented here, which is not
- 1:16Speaker 1: just reactions and reviews on the fly led by emotions.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Y'all know who y'all, but you know contexts and sure
- 1:28Speaker 1: there's some emotions, but we are educated brothers up here
- 1:32Speaker 1: who love hip hop were born into hip hop, been
- 1:36Speaker 1: talking it, living it for as long as we can.
- 1:39Speaker 1: So we're gonna come with some substance and some context,
- 1:42Speaker 1: and we're not gonna tell you you're wrong for how
- 1:44Speaker 1: you feel, but you gonna know how we feel joining
- 1:47Speaker 1: me on this podcast, on this bonus episode. It's the homies,
- 1:52Speaker 1: the Consiglia. Every time you hear me say yo, so
- 1:55Speaker 1: me and the homie ops talking about. But this is
- 1:57Speaker 1: who we're talking about. Okay, already had him on for
- 2:01Speaker 1: the Shenanigans of this year between this battle bringing him back.
- 2:06Speaker 1: He's a filmmaker, he's a writer as well. It's the
- 2:10Speaker 1: home ho in the Morgan State alumni.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Alumni for sure, for sure was good man anything good man?
- 2:18Speaker 3: Thank you for having me on many a man.
- 2:21Speaker 1: No doubt, we don't. We don't be up like early
- 2:24Speaker 1: like yo, let's hop on the internet.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Yeah it's got reasons and yeah for.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Sure all right, we got we got our reasons. Now
- 2:33Speaker 1: for you watching who may not be on you know,
- 2:37Speaker 1: the cusp of everything and maybe that's why you come
- 2:39Speaker 1: to this channel. The saga continues for context. Everybody knows
- 2:45Speaker 1: when it came to the Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle.
- 2:49Speaker 1: It started being Drake and j Cole versus Kendrick. J
- 2:55Speaker 1: Cole put out a song called seven Minute Drill. It
- 2:58Speaker 1: was kind of mid basically, and then he bowed out
- 3:02Speaker 1: of the battle because in his spirit right here, in
- 3:07Speaker 1: the spirit part, he couldn't do it.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Cool.
- 3:11Speaker 1: We said what we had to say about him and
- 3:13Speaker 1: shout out to Kill from Apartment five B Podcasts and
- 3:17Speaker 1: Tony from Into the Dome podcast because we talked about
- 3:20Speaker 1: that in real time. But Jake Cole is back and
- 3:23Speaker 1: he has a new song called what is it a
- 3:25Speaker 1: port Antonio? Is that?
- 3:28Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 3:29Speaker 1: Port Antonio? Uh, And he's addressing in the aftermath of
- 3:34Speaker 1: the battle because it's over, Sorry, Jake, Drake stands it
- 3:38Speaker 1: been over loth time ago, been over all right, But
- 3:41Speaker 1: he's addressing you know who he is where he finds
- 3:46Speaker 1: himself at this point and the battle and the participants
- 3:50Speaker 1: Drake and Kendrick within that battle, even though he only
- 3:54Speaker 1: really names Drake, and we have some thoughts on it, right. Yeah,
- 3:59Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying is you don't want to
- 4:01Speaker 1: call out Batman, leave Batman alone. Just send him salutations Batman,
- 4:09Speaker 1: candy Man. I don't want this. I don't want him
- 4:12Speaker 1: on me, okay, I want him to be my brother.
- 4:15Speaker 1: So it made me maybe maybe right right, like what
- 4:22Speaker 1: do you want? But let's just get into a real
- 4:26Speaker 1: quick When you first heard this song and the lyrics,
- 4:31Speaker 1: what were your impressions from this song from from Jacob.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Listen, gee, I'm gonna give you one even better m.
- 4:43Speaker 3: On my YouTube timeline when I seen the thumbnail. When
- 4:48Speaker 3: I first seen the thumbnail, I think it was last night.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I think that's when he when he dropped it last night.
- 4:55Speaker 3: When I seen the thumbnail, I was like, Yo, I'm
- 4:59Speaker 3: gonna get to this left. I don't even want to
- 5:00Speaker 3: hear this. I'm gonna get to this later. That was
- 5:05Speaker 3: my initial no, lie. So then this morning when you
- 5:11Speaker 3: sent me the text like Yo, what's what's good?
- 5:13Speaker 4: What's happening?
- 5:14Speaker 3: And put the put the uh you know the link,
- 5:18Speaker 3: that's why I laughed like yeah.
- 5:21Speaker 4: And then I started listening and.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I was even so more like yeah, this confirmed why.
- 5:32Speaker 4: What my feelings were. As far as I could, I
- 5:35Speaker 4: could just skip past this.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Okay, So all right, those are my initial thoughts, you know,
- 5:42Speaker 3: looking at the thumbnail. And as I started to listen
- 5:46Speaker 3: and listen, man like I'll say this, I.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Think you know, I'll give j cole.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I.
- 6:00Speaker 3: I will say it is good to get if it's
- 6:02Speaker 3: on his chest, if it's on his hard you know,
- 6:07Speaker 3: to get it off his chest, address the elephant in
- 6:10Speaker 3: the room.
- 6:11Speaker 4: And then I'm thinking he's gonna move on. Right. So
- 6:17Speaker 4: one part of me is like, okay, all right. The
- 6:20Speaker 4: other part is.
- 6:21Speaker 3: YO, I don't like these passive these passive aggressive guilt
- 6:28Speaker 3: shame and raps.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Yo. I don't like that. I don't want to hear that.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I think we we talked about this before, like I
- 6:36Speaker 3: was more so like, yo, I don't want to hear
- 6:38Speaker 3: the talk tough run. I don't want to hear it.
- 6:41Speaker 3: You know, just just do your wraps and do your thing. Okay,
- 6:45Speaker 3: Well he did address what I said. He is doing
- 6:50Speaker 3: his raps and doing his thing, and I still don't
- 6:53Speaker 3: like it because you're doing this passive aggressive Oh I'm
- 6:58Speaker 3: the bigger person.
- 7:00Speaker 4: That was just some thirsty YO. I don't want to
- 7:04Speaker 4: hear none of that. Yo. I don't want to hear that.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Stop stop it. I don't want to hear that.
- 7:11Speaker 1: YO.
- 7:11Speaker 3: If you know, if I would have if I would
- 7:15Speaker 3: have popped out, you know, just because you know, just
- 7:18Speaker 3: because I ain't shoot the gun don't mean it ain't dangerous.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Stop right, stop it stop.
- 7:26Speaker 3: That was my initial thoughts, and that's why I was like, Yo,
- 7:30Speaker 3: I think I was right the first time when I
- 7:32Speaker 3: seen that thumb nail, like, oh, yo, got something.
- 7:36Speaker 4: I get to that. I think he confirmed.
- 7:39Speaker 3: He confirmed, Like once I got to the end, I
- 7:42Speaker 3: was like, yeah, man, like I don't like I don't
- 7:45Speaker 3: like that.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I don't like that. I don't like it.
- 7:49Speaker 3: And the other thing is it's almost like it's par
- 7:53Speaker 3: for the course because he did that before. So it's like, well,
- 7:56Speaker 3: this is consistent with with who he is, you know.
- 8:00Speaker 3: So if that's the case, I'm starting to question, like.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Do I want to hear anything else from this dude?
- 8:06Speaker 4: If this is what this is who you are, like,
- 8:10Speaker 4: because it is consistent.
- 8:11Speaker 3: He did that the first time, the control he had
- 8:14Speaker 3: the whole concept thing.
- 8:16Speaker 4: He was talking to the Chicken's like oh yeah, you know,
- 8:19Speaker 4: it's just.
- 8:20Speaker 3: You know, heype beasts and you just want to It's like, yo, man,
- 8:26Speaker 3: I don't want to hear that me personally. That's my personal.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Thoughts man, right, yeah, what what was your thoughts? Man?
- 8:36Speaker 1: Monz Monz was similar in a lot of ways, right, Like,
- 8:39Speaker 1: you know, last night, I wasn't. I wasn't on Twitter.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I don't hang out on now because I'm pretty sure
- 8:46Speaker 1: I would have saw it. So this morning, when I
- 8:49Speaker 1: woke up and I'm checking my YouTube feed, I don't
- 8:53Speaker 1: see the song, but I'm seeing reactions from other content
- 8:57Speaker 1: creators that I follow. I'm like, oh, this this song
- 9:03Speaker 1: must be something related to the battle. So I go
- 9:07Speaker 1: to the gym and I listen to it, and at
- 9:10Speaker 1: first when it starts, I'm like, okay, I like to beat.
- 9:12Speaker 1: I like the you know, the fit because feeling it
- 9:15Speaker 1: from jay Z sample from Reasonable Doubters in there. So
- 9:19Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, I like that song. So I like
- 9:21Speaker 1: this vibe and the first verse, you know, I was like, okay,
- 9:26Speaker 1: you know this is what I said he should do,
- 9:27Speaker 1: you know, get back to rapping. The YouTube line was
- 9:31Speaker 1: crazy to me, Like I forget the line off top,
- 9:35Speaker 1: but the way he set it up, I was like, Yo,
- 9:37Speaker 1: that's that's crazy. You know. Then he gets to that
- 9:41Speaker 1: second verse and I'm like, here come the light skin.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I thought you were different, right. You know what I'm
- 9:49Speaker 1: saying because those watching both of my kids are light
- 9:53Speaker 1: skinn You wouldn't think so about how many jokes I make.
- 9:56Speaker 1: But it's a black thing. We make those jokes together, right,
- 9:59Speaker 1: not militia. Right, it's not malicious. It's just that's how
- 10:02Speaker 1: we joke with each other. Right, it is right, right,
- 10:06Speaker 1: it just is. And I was like, here he go.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Now.
- 10:09Speaker 1: First, I wasn't mad, but I was looking for him
- 10:12Speaker 1: to address one thing specifically, and he did not do that.
- 10:17Speaker 1: And that's why I titled this episode Guilty Bystander. J
- 10:25Speaker 1: Cole would like to make you think for probably like
- 10:29Speaker 1: eleven years that he just been making songs and riding
- 10:33Speaker 1: bikes in peace and he was pulled into something. But no,
- 10:39Speaker 1: he's a active participant in being the top rapper. He
- 10:44Speaker 1: even alludes to it still here, even though he's battling
- 10:49Speaker 1: back to a third spot, because you you're not getting
- 10:53Speaker 1: in front of Drake. Drake fought, you ran, Drake fought.
- 10:57Speaker 1: As many jokes as I may have about Drake was fighting.
- 11:01Speaker 1: He stood in the pocket, stood in the pocket by Oh,
- 11:05Speaker 1: you're gonna leave me? Okay. So I don't care what
- 11:10Speaker 1: Ja Coole says in that regard. You can't really or
- 11:13Speaker 1: any fan or whatever you can't really talk about Drake
- 11:17Speaker 1: because Drake did the hip hop thing, the dude that
- 11:21Speaker 1: probably people want to consider the least hip hop out
- 11:24Speaker 1: of the three. He did the hip hop thing. He
- 11:26Speaker 1: stood in there, he battled, he lost. He can't get
- 11:29Speaker 1: over it. But so what he was. He was a
- 11:32Speaker 1: part of it. And I don't have really anger for
- 11:36Speaker 1: j Cole, but we're not stupid dog like you were
- 11:40Speaker 1: an active participant. And the apology only came after people
- 11:45Speaker 1: said your mid disc record wasn't it to pretend as
- 11:52Speaker 1: if you're like, you know, I'm just here and they
- 11:57Speaker 1: fighting and I'm gonna just leave because does everybody want this?
- 12:01Speaker 1: And like to ox point, you're you're acting like you
- 12:05Speaker 1: made the bigger step. No, you made a side step,
- 12:09Speaker 1: but you're still trying to play the same game. You're
- 12:11Speaker 1: still trying to throw punches but don't want to be
- 12:13Speaker 1: involved in a fight. I don't understand you, and backhand
- 12:17Speaker 1: comments compliments that I'm we're going to get into with
- 12:21Speaker 1: the lyrics. Let's let's just pull some of these lyrics
- 12:24Speaker 1: out real quick. For those who are watching. You might say,
- 12:29Speaker 1: he ain't say that, y'all don't get it. Oh, we
- 12:33Speaker 1: got it. It's right here. Okay some of them. Uh.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I pulled the plug with quoting J Cole, you know,
- 12:41Speaker 1: because I know some older people watch, Like hold up,
- 12:43Speaker 1: who said that we quoting J Cole right now. I
- 12:47Speaker 1: pulled the plug because I've seen where that was about
- 12:50Speaker 1: to go. They wanted blood, They wanted clicks to make
- 12:53Speaker 1: their pockets grow. Like damn, is that you talking to
- 12:58Speaker 1: both of them? Okay?
- 12:59Speaker 4: You mean right?
- 13:02Speaker 1: They see this fire in my pen and think I'm
- 13:05Speaker 1: dodging smoke. I wouldn't have lost the battle dog, I
- 13:08Speaker 1: would have lost the bro I would have gained a
- 13:11Speaker 1: foe and all for what, just to attain some mo
- 13:15Speaker 1: props from strangers that don't got a clue what I've
- 13:18Speaker 1: been aiming for since the age of fourteen. Jermaine is
- 13:22Speaker 1: no king. If that means I gotta dig up dirt
- 13:25Speaker 1: and pay the whole team of algorithm bot niggas just
- 13:29Speaker 1: to sway the whole thing on social media. Competing for
- 13:34Speaker 1: the favorable means all right, I'm gonna let you go
- 13:38Speaker 1: real quick, but I'm gonna just say this, like k
- 13:41Speaker 1: died to move on Super Bowl leave him alone award ceremony,
- 13:46Speaker 1: but Drake should jump on this man. He just jump
- 13:52Speaker 1: on him. He just jump on him because he you know,
- 13:56Speaker 1: maybe you didn't beat Kendrick, but beat him up.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Because you're talking for you talking like yo? What like Yo?
- 14:08Speaker 4: I just got stumped out, yo? And now here, Yeah,
- 14:11Speaker 4: swing on him.
- 14:13Speaker 1: What do you think about the notion of him painting
- 14:17Speaker 1: this battle and Drake and Kendrick and their teams as
- 14:22Speaker 1: competing for something that he just didn't want to be
- 14:24Speaker 1: a part of.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Yeah, like to be the best. Oh, you're just thirsty, yo.
- 14:36Speaker 4: I'm not. I'm not again, I'm not. I'm not feeling that.
- 14:40Speaker 4: I don't like that.
- 14:41Speaker 3: I don't like that all these I'm the best in
- 14:45Speaker 3: yo betting nobody better not say nothing to me before
- 14:48Speaker 3: before it kicked off.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Oh but now it's on.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Yo.
- 14:53Speaker 3: That's just that thirsty, you know, for the clicks in
- 14:56Speaker 3: the views like Yo, I'm I'm above all Yo, I'm
- 14:59Speaker 3: I'm I'm above all of that. That ain't really my mission.
- 15:03Speaker 3: That ain't what I got into this for a dog.
- 15:05Speaker 3: I don't want to hear it. I don't want I
- 15:09Speaker 3: don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear it.
- 15:12Speaker 3: And again I'm starting to question damn does this mean
- 15:16Speaker 3: I don't listen to anything else he has to say,
- 15:18Speaker 3: because like we talked about this before, it's like, yo,
- 15:23Speaker 3: just go do your wraps, do your thing right, But damn,
- 15:28Speaker 3: like I'm not like this though, Like.
- 15:32Speaker 4: No, like this is.
- 15:35Speaker 3: I don't even know how to do it, like I'm
- 15:37Speaker 3: from a different era. Man, Like it's almost like I
- 15:40Speaker 3: don't even understand how to process this.
- 15:42Speaker 5: It's like, you know, you're acting like you you would
- 15:48Speaker 5: have did something, but you didn't do something, and that
- 15:52Speaker 5: you explaining why you didn't do it, and I.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Don't, Like I don't know if it's my upbringing. I
- 15:59Speaker 3: don't don't know what it is, something's wrong with me.
- 16:04Speaker 3: But it's like nobody wants to hear that, or at
- 16:07Speaker 3: least when I was coming up, it's on it's.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Happening, right.
- 16:11Speaker 4: You want you out here?
- 16:13Speaker 3: You going back in the house is one of the two.
- 16:18Speaker 3: But this, this is, this is why I'm out here.
- 16:20Speaker 3: But I'm gonna explain myself. And like you said, maybe Drake,
- 16:26Speaker 3: and but then the thing is he try to give
- 16:31Speaker 3: the out at the end, so maybe Drake, don't don't
- 16:35Speaker 3: give him to you dig like.
- 16:37Speaker 1: This was like it's a lot of uncertainty and apologizing.
- 16:45Speaker 1: But don't make me hurt, y'all, But I'm sorry because
- 16:48Speaker 1: I love you. Let's let's read. Let's let's read the
- 16:53Speaker 1: next batch of quotes from the song, y'all, port Antonio,
- 16:58Speaker 1: I understand the thirst to be at first that made
- 17:00Speaker 1: them both swing, protecting legacies, so lines got crossed, perhaps regrettably.
- 17:07Speaker 1: My friend went to war. I walked away with all
- 17:10Speaker 1: they blood on me. How you get blood on you
- 17:12Speaker 1: if you run whatever? Now, some will discredit me, try
- 17:18Speaker 1: try to wipe away my pedigree. But please find a
- 17:22Speaker 1: nigga out that's wrapping this incredibly huh, y'all, don't understand, man,
- 17:32Speaker 1: I didn't been a DJ, i'dn't been a rapper. I
- 17:34Speaker 1: hadn't been in Cyphus, I didn't been in fights, and
- 17:39Speaker 1: I'm not the only one. And like I had right there,
- 17:43Speaker 1: I'm from a different era, man, because that's really the
- 17:45Speaker 1: only explanation when I'm what I'm reading here. I understand
- 17:49Speaker 1: the thirst of being first that made them both swing, Okay, cool,
- 17:54Speaker 1: I understand why they wanted to go at each other,
- 17:57Speaker 1: protecting legacies, so lines got crossed, hats regrettedly. Okay, of course,
- 18:03Speaker 1: but that's what you're doing right now. Also, but I digress. Uh,
- 18:08Speaker 1: my friends went to war. I walked away with all
- 18:12Speaker 1: their blood on me. If if we were really going
- 18:17Speaker 1: with what he's saying, Okay, sure we get it now
- 18:22Speaker 1: with now, some will discredit me, try to wipe away
- 18:26Speaker 1: my pedigree. But please find a nigga that's out that
- 18:30Speaker 1: rapping this incredibly? He's doing it again. Did he not
- 18:38Speaker 1: see himself swinging for years just to turn around and say,
- 18:44Speaker 1: why they fighting?
- 18:46Speaker 6: Nigga?
- 18:46Speaker 1: Because you swung on you swinging on him? Now you
- 18:50Speaker 1: swing it like do you swing and then shake the
- 18:52Speaker 1: nigger hand when he's about to punch you back? Like
- 18:54Speaker 1: I don't?
- 18:55Speaker 4: Right, that is a good like I don't. That's it
- 19:00Speaker 4: right there.
- 19:02Speaker 1: He sounds confused in a lot of ways, like like
- 19:07Speaker 1: he's been like he's been watching the internet's reaction to
- 19:12Speaker 1: for too long and now he's trying to check all
- 19:15Speaker 1: the boxes and then doing that. He's kind of confused.
- 19:21Speaker 1: How he looks like, you know, if you feel a
- 19:24Speaker 1: certain way cool, I would rather him put it this way.
- 19:29Speaker 1: This song, in a lot of ways probably should have
- 19:33Speaker 1: been his answer to like that, right, I'm no sucker,
- 19:38Speaker 1: But I see what's about to happen kind of thing
- 19:41Speaker 1: and I'm out, like all in one full swoop. But
- 19:45Speaker 1: your actions, what do you think about? I mean, I
- 19:50Speaker 1: know we've kind of talked about this, but what do
- 19:52Speaker 1: you think about like what he's saying? Man, what do
- 19:55Speaker 1: you think? What do you think is the what we
- 20:00Speaker 1: perceived as a disconnect with him as far as what
- 20:03Speaker 1: happened and what he's expressing as far as how he feels.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree, I agree.
- 20:10Speaker 3: It is a lot of time on the internet, like
- 20:16Speaker 3: some of this is, you know, definitely talking to bloggers
- 20:21Speaker 3: and bloggers, and I guess the culture this is, you know,
- 20:27Speaker 3: the culture is on the internet or a lot of
- 20:31Speaker 3: expression from the culture comes from the internet, and the
- 20:35Speaker 3: internet allows you to see all of these different perspectives
- 20:40Speaker 3: and everything that everybody has to say. And yes, he's
- 20:45Speaker 3: been listening to that a lot. From what I can
- 20:48Speaker 3: hear from this now, I hate to be cynical, you know,
- 20:54Speaker 3: but I'm from a different err. I take it as
- 20:59Speaker 3: to get back and the good graces. He's taking a
- 21:03Speaker 3: lot of what some of the folks on the internet
- 21:08Speaker 3: has to say to get in the good graces with them.
- 21:13Speaker 3: It's like he's siding with some of this stuff. So
- 21:19Speaker 3: isn't that what they call like gas lighting or something
- 21:22Speaker 3: like that, or maybe I got the got the gout
- 21:25Speaker 3: it confused, but it's.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Like probably a form of gas lighting in some ways. Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Yeah, like you're you're you're picking these things that you notice,
- 21:35Speaker 3: like some of the internet is saying, and you're basically
- 21:39Speaker 3: agreeing with them or agreeing with that to get back
- 21:43Speaker 3: in the good, good graces.
- 21:45Speaker 4: So, you know, after he made his statement.
- 21:48Speaker 3: About why he's not going to be a part of this,
- 21:52Speaker 3: you know, there were a lot of folks, you know,
- 21:57Speaker 3: I don't want to call them apologies, but a lot
- 21:59Speaker 3: of folks that said, yeah, man, that was that was
- 22:02Speaker 3: the best thing to do.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Man, take the high road.
- 22:05Speaker 3: And it's like he's he's uh uh uh, he's pandering
- 22:13Speaker 3: to them a little bit, those folks that said that.
- 22:17Speaker 4: Then he gotta give a little bit.
- 22:18Speaker 3: To his fans that yo, I know his pen gang
- 22:21Speaker 3: writer is so he gotta give a little bit.
- 22:23Speaker 4: To them too, you know. But then.
- 22:27Speaker 3: The genuine like yo, I don't want no problems, then
- 22:32Speaker 3: he's got to be himself at the same time. So
- 22:35Speaker 3: that's why it's all these mixed mixed signals. But I
- 22:40Speaker 3: think your response on that stage, that is really what
- 22:46Speaker 3: it is. I don't want no problems, right, I don't
- 22:50Speaker 3: want no problems. And I think, in my opinion, it
- 22:55Speaker 3: could have stayed there and you could have just got
- 22:58Speaker 3: back to rapping right and doing your thing.
- 23:02Speaker 4: You know, there was a lot of it was good
- 23:05Speaker 4: and bad. It was it was.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Divisive, but pie, you know, people loving that track, people
- 23:15Speaker 3: texting it to me like yo, and then you know
- 23:18Speaker 3: it was it was divisive because of cold lines in it,
- 23:22Speaker 3: you know.
- 23:23Speaker 4: But I think right then and there, I think that
- 23:27Speaker 4: kind of like took him out.
- 23:28Speaker 3: You got back on this on this thing, like so
- 23:32Speaker 3: this puts you back in it like we would we.
- 23:37Speaker 4: I think the culture of the world that moved on, right,
- 23:40Speaker 4: you know, but I.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Think this is still heavy on his heart and he's
- 23:45Speaker 3: just like, Yo, I got to address the elephant in
- 23:48Speaker 3: the room. But you mentioned it earlier, just checking off
- 23:51Speaker 3: all these boxes and so it sounds all over the place.
- 23:56Speaker 4: And then it's like I have to passively passive, aggressively passive.
- 24:05Speaker 4: I have to my response in my venom and my
- 24:09Speaker 4: heat to show you I still got it.
- 24:12Speaker 3: And Yo, I'm that dude, there's got to be these
- 24:14Speaker 3: passive aggressive bars, you know, and I just I don't
- 24:20Speaker 3: like it, Like yo, just.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Battle the do the thing, do it or leave it alone.
- 24:30Speaker 3: But this in between this fence, right, I just had
- 24:35Speaker 3: I got I had difficulty with that.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean you you make some some excellent points
- 24:41Speaker 1: because I think, like I did this on my last show.
- 24:45Speaker 1: You know, I said, this is what Jake Cole needs
- 24:48Speaker 1: to do. Now. I need people to understand from a
- 24:52Speaker 1: rapping standpoint because to us who grew up on hip hop,
- 24:58Speaker 1: this goes without saying. We don't have to ride into
- 25:01Speaker 1: battle off of this. He's nice. What he's doing is dope.
- 25:07Speaker 1: But when we but at some point we're listening to
- 25:10Speaker 1: what he's saying, not how he's saying it and how
- 25:13Speaker 1: he's putting it together and saying, Okay, it's cool. J
- 25:17Speaker 1: Cole is back. No, you can't. I'll say this for
- 25:21Speaker 1: the other two. You will not mistake anything Drake has
- 25:25Speaker 1: to say because he's standing on it. Even if we
- 25:28Speaker 1: don't believe it, he's standing on it. I'm me it
- 25:32Speaker 1: ain't over. Let's keep fighting Kendrick like you're getting chipped
- 25:37Speaker 1: and that's it. And there ain't no round twos. I
- 25:41Speaker 1: cooked you were moving on. They stood on everything they
- 25:45Speaker 1: wanted to do, whether it was family, whether it was
- 25:47Speaker 1: the Ovo team they did and Cole once again is
- 25:52Speaker 1: confusing us because we don't know if he want to
- 25:56Speaker 1: be in it or he want to be out, or
- 26:00Speaker 1: he or we dictate how he moved because it feels
- 26:03Speaker 1: that way. It feels like we're dictating how he moves.
- 26:06Speaker 1: And I'll give j Cole a word of advice, and no,
- 26:11Speaker 1: I'm not rich and a lot of people don't know me,
- 26:13Speaker 1: and a lot of people don't buy my albums. I
- 26:15Speaker 1: don't care, all right. We work in media and especially radio,
- 26:23Speaker 1: and one thing about audience and audience engagement, and a
- 26:28Speaker 1: quill attest to this because we was on the same show.
- 26:32Speaker 1: There can be thousands of people who love your show,
- 26:36Speaker 1: who will never call up, who will never email to
- 26:39Speaker 1: tell you how much you're like. They might see you
- 26:41Speaker 1: in public, it might not even come up to you
- 26:43Speaker 1: and tell the tell you directly how much they like you.
- 26:47Speaker 1: But that one dude who hate everything you're doing is
- 26:51Speaker 1: going to call you every week, and you are fool
- 26:55Speaker 1: if you listen to him him alone and change what
- 27:00Speaker 1: you're doing and how you move because he doesn't like it.
- 27:03Speaker 1: And I think j Cole was listening to the vocal
- 27:06Speaker 1: minority because he just want to be liked. And to
- 27:12Speaker 1: our point, then just rap stay all the way out
- 27:17Speaker 1: of it. Use an interview to elaborate when in your
- 27:22Speaker 1: album out you know what I'm saying, like, use that
- 27:25Speaker 1: just to be Oh, I didn't want to do this.
- 27:27Speaker 1: You know, I got love for him, got love for him.
- 27:29Speaker 1: It could have been very simple. But the reason why
- 27:33Speaker 1: we say that is because we're going to go back
- 27:36Speaker 1: to the other quote, because I wanted to get your
- 27:39Speaker 1: take on this, this line in particular, I wouldn't have
- 27:44Speaker 1: lost the battle dog, I would have lost the bro.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Now we know he's talking about Kendrick, but you're saying
- 27:56Speaker 1: you wouldn't have lost the back. Somebody get the smelling salt.
- 28:02Speaker 1: This nigga been knocked out. Wake him up. We already
- 28:08Speaker 1: at the club. You still laying in the ring, doog.
- 28:12Speaker 1: You ain't know Drake was fighting twenty people while you
- 28:15Speaker 1: were laying in or you went to the library and something.
- 28:18Speaker 1: I don't know, what do you think about the fact?
- 28:22Speaker 1: And I don't want to like influence it for you
- 28:26Speaker 1: or anybody who's watching. But the fact that he could
- 28:29Speaker 1: say something to say, what would have happened with the
- 28:32Speaker 1: battle and why again, I guesst reiterating why because he
- 28:37Speaker 1: didn't want to lose a bro.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I just it's those passive aggressive those passive aggressive bars.
- 28:45Speaker 3: That is an exact example of what I'm talking about,
- 28:49Speaker 3: or what I don't like what Chief Chief keeps saying.
- 28:53Speaker 3: I don't like I don't like that. I don't like it.
- 28:58Speaker 3: I don't like it. You know, iould have lost the battle.
- 29:01Speaker 3: I would have lost the bro. Like yo, nah man, No,
- 29:08Speaker 3: we don't get to slick talk.
- 29:10Speaker 4: You don't. We don't. We don't get to do that
- 29:14Speaker 4: with the dude who said.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Everybody outside, anybody outside. You don't get to do that
- 29:20Speaker 3: with him, not with me, you know. And this is
- 29:23Speaker 3: the thing is audience. This is all raps. This is
- 29:26Speaker 3: all rap.
- 29:27Speaker 1: You know.
- 29:28Speaker 4: There's no real like street stuff going on, you know.
- 29:31Speaker 3: But the analogy of it, like, you don't get to
- 29:35Speaker 3: do that with the dude that say everybody outside, You don't.
- 29:39Speaker 4: You don't get to do that. You you you done.
- 29:43Speaker 4: You either stand your ground and and and and and
- 29:48Speaker 4: handle your business or you step out the way with
- 29:53Speaker 4: what he did.
- 29:55Speaker 7: But after stepping out the way, we don't get to
- 29:58Speaker 7: come back and say, yo, what you I'm telling you
- 30:01Speaker 7: because if I would have if I was dead, yo,
- 30:06Speaker 7: nah no, no, no, no no.
- 30:09Speaker 1: And you imagine that like, because honestly, I've been in
- 30:12Speaker 1: that situation of the person who was outside in right
- 30:18Speaker 1: in the middle and involved, but decided I'm not gonna
- 30:22Speaker 1: throw no punches. I got swung on it, and I'm gonna
- 30:24Speaker 1: come in the house convincing you because if I would
- 30:29Speaker 1: have started bunch you you already know what would have happened,
- 30:34Speaker 1: and I would have lost the bro Nah, man, which
- 30:39Speaker 1: one is it?
- 30:41Speaker 4: Yo?
- 30:43Speaker 3: Nah? Yo, Man, I gotta say this, man, I was
- 30:48Speaker 3: really I was thinking about this this morning, and.
- 30:53Speaker 4: I feel like Big Krit had big qut between Big
- 30:59Speaker 4: Krit and what's your.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Tea over this ten year you know, Shenanigans, this ten
- 31:08Speaker 3: year grind quiet war. You know, I think Big Krit
- 31:14Speaker 3: just had the best response out of everybody.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Like he put his steak in the ground, like somebody.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Said, he look for me, here I go like that
- 31:27Speaker 3: Mount Olympus that you I want. I got country wraps
- 31:33Speaker 3: for every whoever, whoever, whatever, whenever I'm with it, like.
- 31:39Speaker 4: And Kendrick, he ain't go over there. He left him alone.
- 31:47Speaker 4: He left him alone, Like I just think he had
- 31:51Speaker 4: the best. And it's still to this day you go.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Back, yeah, like, yeah, it would have been a different
- 31:58Speaker 3: we'd be having a different conversation.
- 32:00Speaker 1: It's a different battle.
- 32:02Speaker 3: It's a different battle because he came back with the oh,
- 32:07Speaker 3: this is why he mentioned okay, you mentioned my name
- 32:10Speaker 3: well for those who don't know, Okay, yeah, this is why.
- 32:15Speaker 4: And let's see if he do it.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Again right that, because this, okay, this is how I
- 32:20Speaker 3: feel about it. And these and then and then I
- 32:25Speaker 3: would say, like push your t oh, I hear you
- 32:28Speaker 3: loud and clear. I hear you loud and clear. Matter
- 32:31Speaker 3: of fact, let's do something. It's almost like pushing let's see, right,
- 32:36Speaker 3: and they they jumped on the track together and it's
- 32:38Speaker 3: it's hip hop, it's raps. Nobody's wasting nobody because everybody
- 32:44Speaker 3: came with you know, sharp ping game right, and that was.
- 32:48Speaker 8: It nothing nothing that we move on. But d these dudes, Yo,
- 32:53Speaker 8: it's like it's almost like it's bullying at this point.
- 33:01Speaker 8: It's almost like Kendrick, it's like I got one, I
- 33:04Speaker 8: got too, oh y'all. Oh, so y'all, y'all feel some
- 33:10Speaker 8: type of way.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Huh okay, I got one, I got too, and I'm
- 33:16Speaker 3: anna and I'm I'm gonna.
- 33:18Speaker 4: Do my thing.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Oh and so now we're saying it's a big three
- 33:23Speaker 3: after all of that passive Oh no, no, no, no
- 33:26Speaker 3: it ain't, after all the smoke clid No it ain't
- 33:30Speaker 3: no big three. Nah, not with all them passive aggressive raps. No, no,
- 33:36Speaker 3: let's put this, put this flag down right now.
- 33:39Speaker 4: It's just me. So I get it. I understand if you.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Look at the timeline and looked at what happened, Yeah,
- 33:46Speaker 3: I could understand Kendrick's point of view. Whereas though if
- 33:51Speaker 3: them brothers just would have came back and just rap
- 33:54Speaker 3: or yo, man yo going crazy on me y'all, like.
- 33:58Speaker 9: Yo, what's up with you man? And not take it
- 34:01Speaker 9: so I don't know, man, just take it to heart
- 34:06Speaker 9: like just lost the sport of it, Vegas like no sportsmanship.
- 34:13Speaker 4: Just take it like it was like like a personal
- 34:17Speaker 4: threat or attack on like that manhood.
- 34:20Speaker 3: And then you just get the crying and whining like
- 34:23Speaker 3: oh you just did that for hype. Oh you know,
- 34:26Speaker 3: if it's really something, then why you ain't say that.
- 34:29Speaker 4: Like, yo, shut up.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Right right man? Yet now you're you're right And for
- 34:38Speaker 1: those who can't keep up, you know that control verse
- 34:42Speaker 1: is more telling about what's happening now than anything. Right.
- 34:47Speaker 1: You can't just look at like well he was on
- 34:50Speaker 1: the like that joint without going down the timeline of
- 34:54Speaker 1: what was happening. Kendrick said he was confused when he
- 34:58Speaker 1: saw them too, Lincoln out like that, because he's like, yo,
- 35:03Speaker 1: don't we have some issues? You know what I'm saying.
- 35:06Speaker 1: So he decided I'm not going to ignore the issues.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna get right to it. J Cole tripped trying
- 35:15Speaker 1: to throw a punch and then decided he didn't want
- 35:19Speaker 1: any heat that was coming his way, so he's just
- 35:21Speaker 1: gonna walk out on his hands and knees. Drake came
- 35:26Speaker 1: out and just wasn't prevented, right, He forgot he ain't
- 35:30Speaker 1: never been in a real fight before, or let me
- 35:33Speaker 1: not say that. He got beat up, but he thought
- 35:37Speaker 1: it made him stronger. We're talking about He thought like, oh, well,
- 35:43Speaker 1: I'm still here. I can do whatever. And you're right.
- 35:47Speaker 1: I mean, when you look at it, especially back then
- 35:50Speaker 1: in the big krit stuff, you know like it was.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Initially it wasn't clear. It was just like, oh, he
- 35:56Speaker 1: just and everybody, even Big Sean who songs and we
- 36:02Speaker 1: forgot that, we forgot Jay Electronic, it was even on it.
- 36:06Speaker 1: But it was clear like, oh, it's kind of like
- 36:08Speaker 1: a call to action to bring hip hop back cool.
- 36:12Speaker 1: And Big crit said, Okay, but I'm gonna bring the
- 36:14Speaker 1: same exact energy. I'm not just gonna make something hot.
- 36:20Speaker 1: I'm I'm a stand over here, like I know them
- 36:24Speaker 1: them light skinn niggas, get a nigga. I'm not. Then,
- 36:29Speaker 1: you know, he he did.
- 36:32Speaker 4: He did the don't be admitutced he came back with
- 36:35Speaker 4: the Boza. Dude. We have a.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Proud he right, and it doesn't get talked about enough,
- 36:43Speaker 1: which is interesting because you know, and I get it,
- 36:47Speaker 1: it's it's a popularity contest. Also, you know, there's some
- 36:51Speaker 1: people who are judging this whole thing based off of
- 36:53Speaker 1: that record sales and accolades more than anything, when they're
- 36:57Speaker 1: people out here who don't have none of that fucking
- 36:59Speaker 1: wrap a lot of these dudes under the table. But
- 37:03Speaker 1: I thought that was interesting. Let's let's read this last
- 37:07Speaker 1: quote of Bars and those I think these Yeah, let's
- 37:13Speaker 1: just read these last this last quote of bars, they say,
- 37:16Speaker 1: I'm picking sides. A. Don't you lie on me, my
- 37:20Speaker 1: nigga and start another war. A Drake, You'll always be
- 37:25Speaker 1: my nigga. I ain't ashamed to say you did a
- 37:27Speaker 1: lot for me, my nigga. Buck all the narratives, tapping
- 37:31Speaker 1: back into your magic pen is what's imperative, reminding these
- 37:36Speaker 1: folks why we do it. It's not for beefing. It's
- 37:40Speaker 1: for speaking our thoughts, pushing ourselves, reaching the charts, reaching
- 37:46Speaker 1: your minds, deep in your heart, screaming to find emotions,
- 37:51Speaker 1: to touch something inside, to open you up, help you
- 37:55Speaker 1: cope with the rough times. And shit, I'm sending love
- 37:59Speaker 1: because we ain't promised. Shit, I need Drake to jump
- 38:02Speaker 1: on him. I'm out of with a track. Who you
- 38:07Speaker 1: talking to? Think you're talking to now? Real quick? To
- 38:14Speaker 1: get back to what what I said earlier. It's just
- 38:18Speaker 1: about a certain uh, I guess section of fans that
- 38:23Speaker 1: agree with j Cole like bound out the battle we
- 38:28Speaker 1: and if we're gonna use the analogy of fighting, we
- 38:32Speaker 1: don't disagree. You don't want to fight, don't fight. That's
- 38:36Speaker 1: how we feel. If he just want to be peace
- 38:40Speaker 1: make his music, ride his bike, and that's that. Nobody's
- 38:44Speaker 1: saying that's wrong. What we're saying is stop popping shit,
- 38:50Speaker 1: stop being passive aggressive and throwing up the peace sign
- 38:54Speaker 1: when people start bucking on you like you can't do that, Like,
- 38:58Speaker 1: I know nobody gonna do that to me. Oh that's
- 39:06Speaker 1: what you're doing. It's it's not the fact that he
- 39:10Speaker 1: wants to be peaceful, it's the fact that he keeps
- 39:14Speaker 1: instigating and including himself in that. Now, I because we
- 39:20Speaker 1: talked about basically how Kendrick should feel with that other line,
- 39:26Speaker 1: how should Drake feel when he's like they say, I'm
- 39:29Speaker 1: picking size A. Don't lie on me, my nigga, then
- 39:32Speaker 1: start another world A Drake, You'll always be my nigga.
- 39:36Speaker 1: I ain't ashamed to say you did a lot for me,
- 39:38Speaker 1: my nigga. Or are we just gonna repeat the same
- 39:42Speaker 1: shit we already say?
- 39:43Speaker 3: Look, man, listen, man, you know with Drake, I this
- 39:50Speaker 3: is up in the air.
- 39:51Speaker 4: I don't know what. I don't know what we'll get
- 39:54Speaker 4: based on what he just did.
- 39:55Speaker 3: Durrant just got on stage and Yo, man, I'm just
- 40:01Speaker 3: from a different error. Yo.
- 40:03Speaker 6: We don't need no hugs. Ain't no hugs. We got
- 40:07Speaker 6: all types of work. Oh right, he got gun work,
- 40:13Speaker 6: knife work whatever, like, Yo, this is so I don't know.
- 40:18Speaker 6: I don't know what he's gonna do, like you would
- 40:20Speaker 6: think he's on this.
- 40:22Speaker 4: I don't need know.
- 40:22Speaker 3: Hugs gonna be giving me no but the way that
- 40:26Speaker 3: these brothers are getting down, Yo, man, thanks dog, I
- 40:31Speaker 3: really needed that. I don't know, you never know, you know,
- 40:35Speaker 3: like let's get on the track together.
- 40:38Speaker 4: Man, you know what you're right.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Let me let me ask you this since you're going
- 40:45Speaker 1: there with it. Drake had been escalating the shade he
- 40:52Speaker 1: was throwing at j Cole like it's it's been like
- 40:57Speaker 1: you know, it started with the one of the one
- 40:59Speaker 1: of the songs. It might have been what's the joint
- 41:03Speaker 1: where he was like, I don't care what Cole say
- 41:06Speaker 1: something like that.
- 41:07Speaker 3: Oh yeah he did, he did, he did. Yeah, I
- 41:11Speaker 3: don't know the name of the song, but you're right
- 41:13Speaker 3: he did.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Right, that's where it started.
- 41:17Speaker 4: Oh it was one of the push.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Ups probably yeah, probably push up? Was it push ups
- 41:24Speaker 1: or maybe or what? Or the last joint?
- 41:29Speaker 4: I thought it was earlier than that, Like.
- 41:32Speaker 1: It might be push ups because the Tupac joint. I
- 41:35Speaker 1: never heard Drake's verse because I cut the ship off.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Once I heard Tupac, I was like, he's not here,
- 41:43Speaker 1: what are you doing? Highly disrespectful, but you're right he did.
- 41:49Speaker 4: He said, like, I don't care what cold talking about.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Like right now, that's where it started, but lately not
- 41:56Speaker 1: in the form of well maybe the one hundred gigs
- 42:01Speaker 1: for your headtop contained some subs towards J Cole And
- 42:05Speaker 1: then he's done it on social media reacting to the
- 42:10Speaker 1: point where now because of this song, people are waiting
- 42:14Speaker 1: for him to react on Instagram stories or whatever, because
- 42:18Speaker 1: he was building up a lot of these subs that
- 42:22Speaker 1: obviously Kendrick was in the cross heads, but he was
- 42:26Speaker 1: really talking about J Cole in situations cause again to
- 42:29Speaker 1: your point earlier, yo, I got jumped where he at,
- 42:34Speaker 1: So now he's kind of looking at you like what
- 42:37Speaker 1: So when you know that Drake has been ramping up
- 42:42Speaker 1: the subs and clearly ramping up to do something because
- 42:46Speaker 1: we saw his moist photo with the Oleos the other day,
- 42:50Speaker 1: so he ready to do something. And I think it's musically.
- 42:53Speaker 1: I don't think it's no beef stuff because I just
- 42:57Speaker 1: put the police on that and everybody going to chair.
- 43:02Speaker 3: You know, I'm I'm about to come back with some something, right, Yeah,
- 43:07Speaker 3: I get it.
- 43:08Speaker 1: Do you think Jake Cole was trying to get ahead
- 43:11Speaker 1: of that?
- 43:14Speaker 4: I don't want to.
- 43:15Speaker 3: Be a part of that, so again, leave me alone.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Whoa, whoa? I saw your picture. Hey, give him that
- 43:27Speaker 1: song where I said I love him.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't want no problems. But you still yo,
- 43:33Speaker 3: I don't want no problems. Gee, we're still good over here?
- 43:37Speaker 3: Like who said we wasn't, y know, that's what I said.
- 43:42Speaker 4: Yo, come from a different era, yo, Like, make you
- 43:47Speaker 4: do this? This is making me paranoid. All this time,
- 43:50Speaker 4: I thought we was good. Now you said what right?
- 43:55Speaker 3: And like you said, I guess there was you know
- 43:57Speaker 3: subs yeah, ig post or memes or whatever. I don't
- 44:02Speaker 3: follow those too, too tough, you know, But I thought
- 44:07Speaker 3: initially when anything kicked off, I thought Drake's stance was yo.
- 44:12Speaker 4: I mean, ay, that's what he want to do. That's fine,
- 44:18Speaker 4: but me, no, that ain't all right. I'm I'm with it,
- 44:25Speaker 4: you know.
- 44:25Speaker 3: And then okay, you go in you get cooked. I
- 44:34Speaker 3: you know, I don't know how Drake what Drake is
- 44:37Speaker 3: gonna feel, but it almost feels like this would make
- 44:39Speaker 3: it worse because you know, you get cooked.
- 44:44Speaker 4: I got cooked.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:46Speaker 4: We're out here talking about things being nominated or.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Possible, going to Grammy submissions, and you know it's it's
- 44:54Speaker 3: on you know, baseball game anthems and you know, and
- 45:01Speaker 3: now here you go talking about Yo, man, you know
- 45:04Speaker 3: it was blood on my shirt from from Abody.
- 45:08Speaker 4: Yeah, it depends.
- 45:10Speaker 3: It's interesting to see how Drake would respond, you know, but.
- 45:16Speaker 4: I don't know, man. He might he might be like, yo,
- 45:20Speaker 4: I don't want to hear none of that.
- 45:22Speaker 3: Or he might be like, yeah, dog, you're right, dog,
- 45:25Speaker 3: let's just keep doing this music. I don't know, man,
- 45:28Speaker 3: but with that whole no friends or anything like that,
- 45:31Speaker 3: Rent he's.
- 45:32Speaker 4: Going, yeah, it might be too late. It might be yo,
- 45:37Speaker 4: if if it ain't somebody that was in this picture, everybody,
- 45:44Speaker 4: it might it might be that. It might be that.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Yeah you know what, And again y'all like again, I
- 45:53Speaker 1: know we have to reiterate because some people just really
- 45:55Speaker 1: go off emotions. They really think it's only about on
- 46:00Speaker 1: a guy who seems like a really nice dude. To
- 46:03Speaker 1: be honest, you know what I'm saying. But it's not
- 46:05Speaker 1: about that. It's about hip hop. Hip Hop is a
- 46:08Speaker 1: competitive sport. Yes, it's a music genre like any other,
- 46:11Speaker 1: but it is based as it relates well, No, in general,
- 46:16Speaker 1: it is based in battling. Quick story for those who
- 46:20Speaker 1: don't know. Dancers would battle each other. Graffiti artists would
- 46:24Speaker 1: battle each other. They would they would go around and
- 46:27Speaker 1: cross out other dudes tags in the city. DJ battles exist.
- 46:33Speaker 1: MC battles exist and have always and they never have
- 46:38Speaker 1: been a violent thing. Sure are there's some people who
- 46:42Speaker 1: get mad and want to go there. Of course it's humans.
- 46:45Speaker 1: But go to a football game that is the Royal Rumble.
- 46:50Speaker 1: You'll never see it on TV because the NFL don't
- 46:54Speaker 1: want you to think attending an NFL game is this.
- 46:59Speaker 1: But everybody they got her phone camera, and there's plenty
- 47:02Speaker 1: of times. I haven't seen the Raiders death out some
- 47:05Speaker 1: you know, forty nine Ers fan exit in the stadium like.
- 47:09Speaker 3: I don't know if things changed, but I've heard stories
- 47:12Speaker 3: about the Eagles. I don't know if things but I
- 47:16Speaker 3: heard you you better not come in here with you,
- 47:22Speaker 3: bett or not, like I've heard I've heard stories about
- 47:26Speaker 3: the Philadelphia Eagles in that stadium.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Like rights it's really a competition thing. But when we
- 47:35Speaker 1: come to hip hop, we act like it's automatically going
- 47:39Speaker 1: to lead to violence, which is not true. It's because
- 47:43Speaker 1: of the individuals, not the art form, not the battling.
- 47:47Speaker 1: It's the individuals. So we can agree with somebody like
- 47:51Speaker 1: J Cole who sees it being a little bit outside
- 47:54Speaker 1: of his comfort zone of battling and saying I don't
- 47:57Speaker 1: want to participate in that, but you can't say, but
- 48:01Speaker 1: if I did, y'all know me. No, we don't. We
- 48:04Speaker 1: don't know what you do in the battle, because guess what,
- 48:07Speaker 1: you battle people who don't answer back, and battle people
- 48:10Speaker 1: who couldn't really say anything to you.
- 48:13Speaker 4: Right.
- 48:13Speaker 1: People say that for Eminem like, oh look who he
- 48:17Speaker 1: talking about. Look what he talked about. Look who Jacoble's like,
- 48:22Speaker 1: he's done it throughout his career, but he's never had
- 48:26Speaker 1: anybody who straight up said I'm gonna make it. I
- 48:29Speaker 1: don't think a J. Cole dis record even exists at
- 48:32Speaker 1: this point. Kendrick was as closest you can get to that,
- 48:36Speaker 1: and it was light. So let's real quick, let's hear
- 48:42Speaker 1: from the people now. Shout out to the company, man,
- 48:48Speaker 1: I think that's the name of his channel. It's all happening.
- 48:53Speaker 1: I watched his reaction and one of the reasons why
- 48:56Speaker 1: he's one of my go tos is because he's going
- 49:00Speaker 1: to obviously look at this from a hip hop perspective,
- 49:04Speaker 1: but he's not going to be driven by emotions. He
- 49:07Speaker 1: may have a side he picks, but he tends to
- 49:10Speaker 1: be pretty fair. And I know a lot of people
- 49:13Speaker 1: want their the person they're rooting for to win regardless,
- 49:17Speaker 1: but he points out things. The great thing about that
- 49:21Speaker 1: is I watched his video. I thought it was cool,
- 49:24Speaker 1: but then I went to the comment section and I
- 49:26Speaker 1: was like, well, let me see what people are saying.
- 49:28Speaker 1: You know, people feeling this or they feel like he's back,
- 49:31Speaker 1: because there were other pages I went and they were
- 49:34Speaker 1: just hyped off of the skill alone. They weren't picking
- 49:37Speaker 1: apart the lyrics. It was just like, he's nice, he's back,
- 49:42Speaker 1: and that's all they cared about. And I'm pretty sure
- 49:44Speaker 1: they're having a very different conversation on social media now,
- 49:48Speaker 1: because that's why you don't pop out like that. So
- 49:52Speaker 1: his one, for example, shout out to this person to
- 49:55Speaker 1: Reef Smith ninety twenty seven on YouTube and he's quoting
- 50:00Speaker 1: j Cole, my friends went to war. I walked away
- 50:04Speaker 1: with all they blood on me. Then he also quotes J. Cole,
- 50:09Speaker 1: find a nigga out that's wrapping this incredibly, and then
- 50:14Speaker 1: he comments Cole didn't have his friend's blood on him.
- 50:18Speaker 1: He walked away before the battle started. Cole had every
- 50:22Speaker 1: opportunity to prove how quote incredible he is, but he deleted, apologized,
- 50:31Speaker 1: and started riding bikes. Now, to be fair, he was
- 50:35Speaker 1: riding bikes before that, but I get the joke. He right,
- 50:41Speaker 1: get on your bike, man. He waited until most of
- 50:44Speaker 1: the smoke claid to appear as the bigger person. Many
- 50:48Speaker 1: people will accept his excuses though.
- 50:51Speaker 3: Oh wow, so that was yes, exactly exactly. Yeah, Now
- 51:00Speaker 3: that wasn't me that wrote that, by the way.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Right right, right right, And that's why I gathered all
- 51:06Speaker 1: this stuff to get Now. Obviously there are other people
- 51:08Speaker 1: who are saying things favorably, but honestly, it's kind of
- 51:13Speaker 1: what I said. You know, they're really just looking at
- 51:15Speaker 1: the skill and the fact that he doesn't want to
- 51:18Speaker 1: take part in the battle, but they're kind of ignoring
- 51:23Speaker 1: everything that Jay Cole said. And that guy tweet quoted
- 51:27Speaker 1: Jacob his last one. This is from Jimmy Jones one p.
- 51:31Speaker 1: Fifty one on YouTube and the company man liked his comment.
- 51:36Speaker 1: I like Cole, but the fact that he went on
- 51:39Speaker 1: a run saying quote, I'm the greatest, I'm ali for
- 51:44Speaker 1: years and then tucked his tail at the first sign
- 51:47Speaker 1: of confrontation. As for quote, I wouldn't have lost the beef.
- 51:53Speaker 1: We all heard seven minute drill. You would have been
- 51:56Speaker 1: smoked by man. Now we don't know, And honestly, that's
- 52:04Speaker 1: kind of what we was looking forward to. Were like, Okay,
- 52:07Speaker 1: Drake is cool, but I want to hear J Cole
- 52:09Speaker 1: and Kendrick go at it. Buddy tucked his tail. So
- 52:14Speaker 1: the people in general, and I've seen some on Twitter
- 52:17Speaker 1: that you know, I'm not even gonna mention, like you know,
- 52:20Speaker 1: sult well, I am going to mention now assault in
- 52:23Speaker 1: the game on Twitter shout out to her said J
- 52:26Speaker 1: Cole is still a bit. She don't want to hear it.
- 52:35Speaker 1: It's one sentence, right, So to our point earlier, J
- 52:41Speaker 1: Cole again does it to himself. Yeah, because he could
- 52:47Speaker 1: have done this very differently and it wouldn't have It's
- 52:50Speaker 1: not like a sucker move to truly excuse yourself from
- 52:55Speaker 1: the nonsense.
- 52:55Speaker 4: Truly, Yeah, yeah, I mean I.
- 53:00Speaker 3: Again, I think I don't know what he's looking at online.
- 53:06Speaker 3: But Yo, we were over it, Like a lot of
- 53:10Speaker 3: people were over it. Maybe there's a few that still
- 53:13Speaker 3: nitpicking and want to point that out, but Yo, you ran,
- 53:16Speaker 3: you ain't, but a lot of people like by this time,
- 53:21Speaker 3: I think we were done. The only reason were going
- 53:23Speaker 3: back then is because you going back then. Yes, I
- 53:27Speaker 3: think we would have been off of like yo, you know,
- 53:31Speaker 3: like ye by the time he got to uh what
- 53:34Speaker 3: did we still don't trust you?
- 53:37Speaker 4: And it's verse on that that that joint was dope.
- 53:41Speaker 3: It's like, Yo, we were just getting back to music
- 53:43Speaker 3: and yo, just raping doing this thing, you know, Like
- 53:48Speaker 3: I was listening like, oh, is it any excuse me,
- 53:51Speaker 3: is it any this stuff in this you know it
- 53:54Speaker 3: ain't there.
- 53:54Speaker 4: But the verse was crazy.
- 53:56Speaker 3: The verse was dope, moving along like all right, we're
- 54:00Speaker 3: just gonna get back to music doing the thing.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Yo.
- 54:02Speaker 3: They over there doing a thing made the best man win,
- 54:07Speaker 3: you know, And I don't even think that was his stance.
- 54:10Speaker 3: It's just like, Yo, it's gonna get ugly, it's gonna
- 54:12Speaker 3: get bloodies. Like just again, gas like you're putting this
- 54:17Speaker 3: extra sauce on it instead of it just being hip hop.
- 54:22Speaker 3: Yo made the best man win. You know, they they
- 54:26Speaker 3: about to take it there, man, and it's crazy, like, hey,
- 54:31Speaker 3: I realized that's that's not for me to take it
- 54:34Speaker 3: there done boring, that's it.
- 54:38Speaker 4: You're gonna get your backlash. We got it.
- 54:41Speaker 3: But you're always still gonna have your your core base,
- 54:44Speaker 3: and this this core base is probably yeah, you know.
- 54:50Speaker 4: But like with me, I just I don't like it.
- 54:54Speaker 4: I don't like it.
- 54:56Speaker 3: I've been saying that this entire time, and I sound
- 54:59Speaker 3: like a broken record. But it's like, yo, man, no,
- 55:03Speaker 3: that's a that's a big no for me. That is
- 55:06Speaker 3: worse than what I thought.
- 55:09Speaker 4: You know.
- 55:10Speaker 3: Just yo, I'm still the best, and I'm you know,
- 55:14Speaker 3: I got all these battle raps and stuff for days.
- 55:17Speaker 4: This is even worse.
- 55:19Speaker 3: You know, because at first I was just like yo,
- 55:21Speaker 3: I don't even want to hear that. But then I
- 55:24Speaker 3: got over that, like, nah, Yo's still nice. He can
- 55:27Speaker 3: still do his thing and say what do you want
- 55:29Speaker 3: to say, But putting it in this context when we
- 55:33Speaker 3: all seen what happened, I just I just don't like it.
- 55:39Speaker 3: I don't me personally, I don't think it was a
- 55:43Speaker 3: good move. But I don't think he's speaking to me.
- 55:45Speaker 3: I definitely think he's speaking to.
- 55:49Speaker 4: The base.
- 55:50Speaker 3: The die hard Yo, y'all been rolling with me. He's
- 55:55Speaker 3: speaking to them, and they're they're gonna eat it up. Yeah,
- 56:00Speaker 3: they're gonna eat it up. They're gonna they're gonna love it.
- 56:03Speaker 3: And you know, they, Hey, you diehard J cole fan.
- 56:07Speaker 4: That's cool. He's he's feeding the base, giving them content
- 56:13Speaker 4: and somewhat somewhat now somewhat being a hypocrite, somewhat somewhat.
- 56:25Speaker 3: Because you're bringing it into this that whole thing what
- 56:30Speaker 3: you said, No, they just doing that thing and it's
- 56:32Speaker 3: thirst and and then boom, once you bring it into
- 56:36Speaker 3: your thing, everybody's listening and everybody so kind of sort
- 56:41Speaker 3: of you're benefiting off of it too, instead of just
- 56:44Speaker 3: going and.
- 56:44Speaker 4: Doing your wraps. But no, so it's just all of
- 56:48Speaker 4: this mixed signals.
- 56:50Speaker 3: And maybe he doesn't even realize he's doing that, or
- 56:53Speaker 3: maybe he knows exactly what he's doing. Yea, and yo,
- 56:57Speaker 3: I gotta get to this bread. I gotta get some
- 57:00Speaker 3: eyes on me. And so here it is.
- 57:03Speaker 4: It's like I'm addressing the elephant in the room. I'm
- 57:06Speaker 4: gonna move on, but Yo, I'm still nice. Don't don't
- 57:10Speaker 4: don't get it twisted, right, Drick, You're still my man,
- 57:14Speaker 4: right A? Yo?
- 57:18Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what, because one of the tweets I
- 57:22Speaker 1: saw was something like, now the album rollout can begin
- 57:29Speaker 1: because he did what like two features and people were
- 57:32Speaker 1: feeling it, you know, not talking about any of this,
- 57:36Speaker 1: and then he does this, which you know again steps
- 57:40Speaker 1: it up a level and kind of reminds you, and
- 57:43Speaker 1: it's strategic. It kind of reminds you of why you
- 57:45Speaker 1: liked him. It's real Friday night lights Jacole more than anything,
- 57:50Speaker 1: and that's how I felt. First verse in the beat,
- 57:53Speaker 1: I was like, okay, but to ox point, me and
- 57:58Speaker 1: other people, we were already on that road to recovery
- 58:02Speaker 1: as far as accepting whatever he's going to present. But
- 58:06Speaker 1: I think to your point, if his goal was to also,
- 58:11Speaker 1: by doing that, take the other fans and get them engaged,
- 58:15Speaker 1: because like I said earlier, the people who oppose you,
- 58:19Speaker 1: the vocal minority, are going to be the loudest, so
- 58:23Speaker 1: therefore it's going to spread faster. You know. Then you
- 58:28Speaker 1: kind of get the juices flowing and everybody talking, so
- 58:31Speaker 1: then you might drop a joint that has nothing to
- 58:33Speaker 1: do with any of this and it's hot, and people
- 58:36Speaker 1: just decide were just back on that train, because that's
- 58:40Speaker 1: what most people will do. I can tell you right now.
- 58:42Speaker 1: Kill's not going to do that at all. He does
- 58:46Speaker 1: not care what this man has to say, especially because
- 58:50Speaker 1: he's doing the same thing and he's not addressing that.
- 58:55Speaker 1: And the last thing I want to say about that,
- 58:58Speaker 1: because it relates to the whole rebuttals. This is why
- 59:02Speaker 1: Kendrick won. Right, Kendrick addressed everything. Now he's not going
- 59:07Speaker 1: to address things that aren't true. But he kind of
- 59:10Speaker 1: did also, right, what was the main thing with Kendrick
- 59:13Speaker 1: Yo his marriages and shambles and asks him why he
- 59:19Speaker 1: ain with his wife because he beating on that and
- 59:21Speaker 1: all kinds of stuff. Then he pops out in the
- 59:23Speaker 1: video whole family crip walking on Drake's grave. Okay, that's
- 59:27Speaker 1: his rebuttal. He didn't have to say, I'm not and
- 59:30Speaker 1: I love my life blah blah blah. Here we are
- 59:33Speaker 1: our family together. This is what it really is with Drake.
- 59:39Speaker 1: The one thing that besides the pedophile stuff and all
- 59:44Speaker 1: of that on the surface, and we don't know. Nothing
- 59:46Speaker 1: has been proven guilty or not guilty. But the one
- 59:49Speaker 1: thing he didn't address to me is everybody saying that
- 59:54Speaker 1: you deserve it and one of them's right next to you,
- 59:56Speaker 1: and ten of them wanted to be He never addressed it.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: He ain't never he might have said, I mean, you
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: could dig up a line like my team solid. That
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: means nothing. Baka gotta wear a case. Why is he around?
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: He's not as he didn't dress any of it his
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: team because honestly, that's the problem. It's not Kendrick. That
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: was Kendrick's tool. Without that, it wouldn't have been the
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: slaughter it became. Because there's a mom and unless Drake
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: plans to address it now, just to just say it,
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: he never addressed that, and j Cole hasn't addressed the
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: fact that he is contradicting himself. You can't be a
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: guilty bystander. Bystanders are hey, man, I was getting an
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: icy nigga shot at the black I got hit. No,
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: you were in the fight. You pulled out your gun.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Y'all don't want me to let off. I'm a first
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: person shooter. I've been I've been letting no shots in
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: the air, Warner, y'all don't come over here. And then
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: he ain't a gun in your face, and you're like,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: you know what black brothers need to We need to
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: hold up with my Bible and we need to stay
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: together and dog. So to be clear, we're fans of
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: all three. But what I love about this from a
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: hip hop standpoint that we're not just taking this on
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: the surface for face value. Right, We're not just gonna
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: say Kendrick don't really drop music and don't care about
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: his fans because he goes away. We're not gonna just
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: say Drake is a pedophile because Kendrick said so. Like,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: and you know, like, we're just not gonna take things
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: on the surface. We're gonna dig deep and we're gonna
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: go about what they let us know. And in a
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: lot of ways with j Cole with this, to ox
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: point and to the point of everybody I've been reading,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: he served the pot again. He's he is almost as
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: if he has a problem to say, well, we don't
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: need to stir the pot. And he like this, what
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: y'all don't need to be doing this? What are you doing? Dog? Like,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: I don't get it. So I guess my final question
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: for you would be where does it go from here?
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Now that he's kind of done this and it's very divisive.
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: Oh, I think it's full marketing mode. I think all
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: off is coming soon. M yeah, I think this was
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: the this is kicking off the campaign. That's what I think,
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: you know, And maybe he take your advice or that's
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: a part of the strategy where you just come out
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: with something that's fire and it takes all the attention
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: off of that because I dressed the elephant in the
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: room and now I got like something crazy, you know. Yeah,
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: but I think we're getting into that now. This album
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: old album about the drop mode and this was that.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: This was the kickoff.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: Now do do you, as a hip hop head want
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: to hear it?
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: Not really.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: To be honest, but I'll give I'll give it a chance.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: I'll give it a chance, you know. But yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: I didn't. I don't like what I heard today. But
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: that doesn't take away from j Coles skill. So I
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: believe he could he could create some some fire music.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: But I just this, I don't like. It makes me
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: not want to hear. What you have to say is
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: and you know I had to separate the person from
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: them in this instance, because I don't agree with that
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: as a person, you know, a personal move, I don't
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: agree with that.
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: I don't like that right as of aggressive stuff.
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: Now again, Yeah, to give him the benefit of the doubt,
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: you know, I would have to separate how I feel
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: like personally and just all right, let me just see
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: what you got music wise, right, and we'll see. We'll
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: see the next track that drops. If he follows your strategy,
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: then maybe you know, I'll get over all of this
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: just undeniable, it's crazy. All right, let's see what you
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: gotta say.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, I think he I think it's album mode.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: I think it's on the way. I kind of thought
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: that before when I started hearing the features that he
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: did and how dope they were, and they were building
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: anticipation for me to see what he was going to
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: bring to the table. I will say this for people
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: watching in general, whether we're talking about the rappers or
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: the people, it would be naive of us to think
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: that everybody's the same or everybody should be a certain way.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: J Cole is a reflection of a lot of people
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: in the world who are both right, they're in nayout.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: They they you know, they they really can't figure out
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: what they want to be, or what they want to
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: do or how they want to be viewed. So a
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: lot of times they play sides and it's not them
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: being spineless in some kind of way. It's just it's
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: just who they are, like their spirit is, like they
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: just don't want to do this. But typically they don't
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: pound their chests and call themselves the best that is
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: in top threes and top fives and best ever in
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: ali and all of that. So it's confusing. But I
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: could point to a number of rappers who have contradicted
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: themselves on these same albums, from Tupac to DMX, a
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: lot of but that's because they're people, right, And I
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: think for those people who want to defend j Cole,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: to me, that's the best defense. All these guys are imperfect.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: This is just his you know, And it's shocking because
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: of how put together he is that he would be
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: this bad in this regard. You know what I'm saying,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: just being indecisive and in the middle and in the mix,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: but not wanting to be in the mix. It's confusing,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: but I feel like you I want to hit the
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: album if it's dope, I'm not going to act like
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: I don't like it. But what he's done is he's
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: taken a lot away in the same way as Drake
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: has because the constant we see you, So when we're
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: coming back blah blah blah when the battle's over. It's
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: making me not want to hear the songs I like,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: right because I don't want to hear him talk because
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: guess what, I'm starting to not like the person. And
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: then that's where you really mess up your bag. You know,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: you want people to continue to like you, and I
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: don't think j Cole is in that kind of a danger.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: But I don't think he wants to only have a
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: core he wants with Drake Has, he wants with Kendrick Has.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: The core is full cool, but that's not what Ja
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Cole wants. He wants everybody. So I think in the
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: long run, we'll just have to see. Honestly, I didn't
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: think I would have to do an episode like this,
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: but it's hip hop. It's dope. To break down the
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: lyrics and see the reactions from us as well as
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: the other people out there on social media. I want
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: to thank you for taking the time to hang out
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: with me and this show and chop it up about
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: J Cole. People watching. Whatever thought you have put them

- 1:08:18Speaker 1: bout of there. It's really that simple. Let's talk hip hop.
