- 0:00Speaker 1: A Christmas Carol. I care not for spring on its
- 0:04Speaker 1: fickle wing. Let the blossoms and buds be borne. He
- 0:08Speaker 1: woos them a main with his treacherous rain, and he
- 0:12Speaker 1: scatters them ere the morn, and in constant elf. He
- 0:17Speaker 1: knows not himself nor his own changing mind. An hour
- 0:22Speaker 1: he'll smile in your face, and with wry grimace he'll
- 0:26Speaker 1: wither your youngest flower. Let the summer sun to his
- 0:31Speaker 1: bright home run. He shall never be sought by me.
- 0:35Speaker 1: When he's dimmed by a cloud. I can laugh aloud
- 0:39Speaker 1: and care not how sulky he be, for his darling child.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Is the madness wild that sports in fierce fevers train,
- 0:49Speaker 1: And when love is too strong, it don't last long,
- 0:52Speaker 1: as many have found to their pain. A mild harvest night,
- 0:57Speaker 1: by the tranquil light of the maddest and gentle moon
- 1:02Speaker 1: has a far sweeter sheen for me, I ween than
- 1:05Speaker 1: the broad and unblushing noon. But every leaf awakens my
- 1:10Speaker 1: grief as it lieth beneath the tree. So let autumn
- 1:15Speaker 1: air be ever so fair. It by no means agrees
- 1:19Speaker 1: with me. But my song I troll out for Christmas.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Stout the hardy, the true and the bold a bumper
- 1:28Speaker 1: I drain, and with might and main give three cheers,
- 1:32Speaker 1: for this Christmas Old will usher him in with a
- 1:35Speaker 1: merry din that shall gladden his joyous heart, and will
- 1:40Speaker 1: keep him up while there's bite or sup and in
- 1:43Speaker 1: fellowship good will part in his fine, honest pride. He
- 1:48Speaker 1: scorns to hide one jot of his hard weather scars.
- 1:53Speaker 1: They're no disgrace, for there's much the same on the
- 1:56Speaker 1: cheeks of our bravest tars. Then again, then I sing
- 2:01Speaker 1: till the roof doth ring, and it echoes from wall
- 2:04Speaker 1: to wall to the stout, old, white fair welcome tonight
- 2:09Speaker 1: as the king of the seasons. All
