- 1:16Speaker 2: another featured Radio Archive Hour from the Phil Henry Radio
- 1:20Speaker 2: Hall of Fame show from philhenryshow.com and from Points North.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:25Speaker 2: We're talking about colonoscopies here, but it's not going to
- 1:27Speaker 2: be too heavy. It's going to be Bobby Dooley and
- 1:29Speaker 2: Steve Dooley as she talks about broccoli and cauliflower and
- 1:33Speaker 2: how she keeps herself pure And how a colonoscopy puts
- 1:36Speaker 2: a camera someplace where only really your husband should go.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it's that weird.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Here's Bobby and Steve Dooley on colon awareness month, is it?
- 1:46Speaker 3: No, it's colon health month.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Yeah, colon, rectal colon.
- 1:50Speaker 3: All right, I get it. Anyway, here they are.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Bobby?
- 1:54Speaker 1: Yes, sir.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Okay, I'm not going to ask you how you are.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I know that you've got some news about your health.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I do. First of all, I want to thank you
- 2:02Speaker 1: for having me on the program.
- 2:03Speaker 3: It's always a pleasure.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Thank you. And I did speak with Steve, my husband, tonight,
- 2:08Speaker 1: and I talked to my sons. And I am doing well,
- 2:14Speaker 1: but I do want to let you know, and a
- 2:16Speaker 1: lot of the listeners who have heard me on your
- 2:17Speaker 1: program before, that I was diagnosed with colon cancer three
- 2:25Speaker 1: days ago by my doctor. We had done some tests.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Good Lord.
- 2:30Speaker 1: How serious is it? It's pretty advanced. It's metastasized. But
- 2:40Speaker 1: the good news is we're going to start our regimen
- 2:43Speaker 1: of chemo and radiation, and I'm hoping that that will.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Did he tell you how serious is this? In other words,
- 2:52Speaker 3: is there... So you can get treatment, right?
- 2:57Speaker 1: Yeah. So going through the usual regimen, he did not
- 3:02Speaker 1: recommend surgery. He recommended... chemo and radiation, and we're going
- 3:06Speaker 1: to do that. But it's pretty well advanced, and it is,
- 3:12Speaker 1: you know, a little scary.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I can imagine it's scary, but you know what? People
- 3:16Speaker 3: have overcome worse.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I know, and my husband's told me that.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Look, we don't have to do anything tonight.
- 3:26Speaker 1: No, I'm very happy to talk to you and your listeners, Phil.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I really am. I get a big kick out of
- 3:30Speaker 1: talking to you. But as I said, I was diagnosed.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I went into my doctor's a week and a half ago,
- 3:38Speaker 1: and he called me with the results that it is
- 3:42Speaker 1: colon cancer.
- 3:43Speaker 3: God, I'm really sorry to hear that, but I'm happy
- 3:47Speaker 3: to hear that you can get treatment and that it
- 3:50Speaker 3: will respond, right?
- 3:52Speaker 1: Well, my doctor says that he said that there's a 60%
- 3:55Speaker 1: to 70% chance, but he said it had metastasized.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Well, how are the kids holding up?
- 4:06Speaker 1: My boys are upset. My husband understands. We're working with
- 4:10Speaker 1: the boys. You know, it's very difficult to talk to
- 4:14Speaker 1: your children and tell them that you might not be
- 4:18Speaker 1: here next year when there's a lot of big things
- 4:26Speaker 1: happening in our family next year.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Let's not think about that, okay? Let's just think about
- 4:31Speaker 3: getting your treatment. Moving forward.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Working as hard as you can on getting rid of it.
- 4:38Speaker 3: And remember, people have beaten it, and you can get better.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Well, I want to let you know something, Phil. First
- 4:47Speaker 1: of all, do you have a time? Is it 10
- 4:49Speaker 1: after 7?
- 4:50Speaker 3: It's 10 after 7 Pacific Coast, yeah.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I want to let you know that I'm only kidding.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I don't have colon cancer.
- 4:57Speaker 3: You want to let me know that you're only kidding.
- 5:00Speaker 3: You don't have colon cancer.
- 5:02Speaker 1: That's right, Keith.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Did you believe it?
- 5:05Speaker 1: Did you believe that I had colon cancer? Obviously you did.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Yes, of course I believed you had colon cancer. Why
- 5:11Speaker 3: are you telling me that you had colon cancer and
- 5:13Speaker 3: now you're telling me you're kidding?
- 5:15Speaker 1: I'll tell you why, Phil, if you'll allow me. Because
- 5:19Speaker 1: this is Colon Cancer Awareness Month and I know that
- 5:23Speaker 1: Katie Couric is doing her.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Part So you told me you had colon cancer so
- 5:30Speaker 3: that I would know what it was like if a
- 5:32Speaker 3: loved one told me they had colon cancer?
- 5:34Speaker 1: No, I wanted to really... No, that's not my purpose.
- 5:38Speaker 1: My purpose is to say, not only do I not
- 5:42Speaker 1: have colon cancer, Phil, I'm not going to get colon cancer.
- 5:46Speaker 1: And the flip side that you don't hear about colon
- 5:48Speaker 1: cancer is that not everyone gets it. Colon cancer is
- 5:54Speaker 1: the result of eating... lots of meat, lots of grease,
- 5:59Speaker 1: this kind of thing. The diet that I follow, the
- 6:03Speaker 1: diet that I feed my husband and my boys.
- 6:05Speaker 3: First of all, let me just say this. Can I
- 6:08Speaker 3: interrupt you?
- 6:08Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:10Speaker 3: You come on my program and say I've got colon cancer.
- 6:11Speaker 3: I really believed it. I was feeling very bad for you.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Well, that's good. That's good. That was the reaction. That's
- 6:16Speaker 1: the reaction we wanted.
- 6:18Speaker 3: That's the reaction you wanted?
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yes, because we wanted to get your attention. And now
- 6:24Speaker 1: that I have your attention... I'm telling you that the
- 6:27Speaker 1: flip side to what Katie Couric is going on about
- 6:30Speaker 1: is that you don't necessarily have to get colon cancer
- 6:34Speaker 1: if you are eating the right foods. Colon cancer is
- 6:38Speaker 1: the result of eating garbage, really, and eating garbage over
- 6:43Speaker 1: a prolonged period of time.
- 6:45Speaker 3: All right, well, what do you call garbage? So you're
- 6:47Speaker 3: not going to get colon cancer because you are not.
- 6:50Speaker 1: First of all, Phil, you sound angry, and I'm sorry...
- 6:54Speaker 1: I hope we didn't make you angry, Mr. Henry.
- 6:56Speaker 3: I'm a little put out by the fact that you
- 6:58Speaker 3: would call my show and say, I have colon cancer. No,
- 7:00Speaker 3: I'm only kidding.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You know? Well, I was kidding. I'm trying to let
- 7:05Speaker 1: you know that I was only kidding about having colon cancer.
- 7:08Speaker 1: There's no way I'm going to get colon cancer. Katie
- 7:10Speaker 1: Couric is going to get colon cancer before I get it.
- 7:13Speaker 1: And that's the thing that I find most disturbing about her.
- 7:18Speaker 1: She thinks that she's doing all these things for colon
- 7:21Speaker 1: cancer awareness. where she goes, and I think it is
- 7:26Speaker 1: absolutely over the line for her to go in and
- 7:31Speaker 1: have them put a television camera in a place that
- 7:36Speaker 1: ordinarily is reserved for your husband. And to show.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Well, are you talking about getting a colonoscopy?
- 7:48Speaker 1: Yes. And to show that on TV, I'm here to
- 7:53Speaker 1: tell you you're not going to get colon cancer if
- 7:55Speaker 1: you don't eat the way she does. And I don't
- 7:58Speaker 1: know how she eats.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Well, how do you know how she eats? Yeah, I
- 7:59Speaker 3: was going to say maybe she eats healthy.
- 8:01Speaker 1: She might, but it's obvious that her husband didn't. And
- 8:04Speaker 1: a great many people that have colon cancer are used
- 8:07Speaker 1: to heavy meats, thick greases, and just an unbelievably unhealthy diet.
- 8:16Speaker 3: All right. Bobby Dooley is on with us. I appreciate
- 8:20Speaker 3: your ability to churn interest, Bobby, by coming on the
- 8:23Speaker 3: show here in the first few minutes telling me you
- 8:25Speaker 3: had colon cancer. I believed you, and I'm glad that
- 8:28Speaker 3: you don't. I'm a little shaken up, but.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Let's... But again, it was to illustrate a point.
- 8:33Speaker 3: I understand. All right, I'm going to give our phone
- 8:35Speaker 3: number out here, 1-800-449-8686.
- 8:36Speaker 2: 1-800-449-8686.
- 8:36Speaker 3: This is Colon Cancer Awareness Month. Yes, it is, Phil,
- 8:38Speaker 3: and it will be for.
- 8:47Speaker 1: obviously all month, but I want you to know that
- 8:49Speaker 1: April will also be devoted to colon cancer awareness. And
- 8:56Speaker 1: I just thought, and a group of us got together
- 9:00Speaker 1: at our homeowners association and said, why does Katie Couric
- 9:05Speaker 1: seem to be the person that we all run to
- 9:07Speaker 1: for information on this?
- 9:09Speaker 3: Well, she did lose her husband to it.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I understand that, and I'm very sensitive to that. But
- 9:13Speaker 1: because your husband wasn't eating properly... and then dies from
- 9:18Speaker 1: colon cancer doesn't make you an expert, especially when it
- 9:23Speaker 1: is possible, and I'm not saying it's probable, it's possible
- 9:26Speaker 1: that he died from the very foods she was serving him.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Well, first of all, those are two very, first, let's
- 9:35Speaker 3: not talk about her husband, okay?
- 9:37Speaker 1: No, I understand that.
- 9:38Speaker 3: But, you know, they probably both were eating from some
- 9:42Speaker 3: kind of a chef, I would think, because they're both
- 9:43Speaker 3: extremely busy people. Okay, and I don't know what he ate.
- 9:48Speaker 1: He did die of colon cancer, didn't he?
- 9:50Speaker 3: That's my understanding, yes.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Well, then he was eating garbage. And again, I think
- 9:55Speaker 1: Katie has to live with the fact that possibly it
- 9:58Speaker 1: was garbage that she had just pulled out of a
- 10:01Speaker 1: crock pot, that she had put into the crock pot.
- 10:04Speaker 1: In other words, she made it. But I don't want
- 10:06Speaker 1: to go there. What I want to tell you is this.
- 10:10Speaker 1: The alternative to listening to her and looking at a
- 10:14Speaker 1: camera going up into an area that ordinarily is reserved
- 10:18Speaker 1: for your husband... is to understand that there is an
- 10:30Speaker 1: alternative called eat right, eat vegetables, eat fruits, eat wholesome grains,
- 10:45Speaker 1: drink pure rainwater, and don't eat the heavy greases.
- 10:51Speaker 3: All right, well, we'll be back. So you are going
- 10:52Speaker 3: to be talking about this throughout the forthcoming weeks on
- 10:58Speaker 3: colon cancer, right?
- 10:59Speaker 1: Absolutely, Phil, because I don't want people out there to
- 11:02Speaker 1: get snowed by a woman who means well, but you
- 11:05Speaker 1: want to lend her a little bit more credibility because
- 11:09Speaker 1: her husband died from it. And just because her husband
- 11:12Speaker 1: died from it, and she once a year puts a
- 11:15Speaker 1: camera in a place, as I mentioned, that is... ordinarily
- 11:18Speaker 1: a place that only your husband should be familiar with,
- 11:20Speaker 1: I don't think makes her an expert.
- 11:27Speaker 3: All right, 1-800-449-8686. I just still find it very... I
- 11:32Speaker 3: think it's wrong to come on the program and tell
- 11:34Speaker 3: me she has colon cancer, and for five minutes I'm
- 11:36Speaker 3: worried about it, only to say I'm only kidding. I don't.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Bobby Dooley is with us from the Western Estates Homeowners
- 11:44Speaker 3: Association on colon cancer awareness. And she says she's giving
- 11:49Speaker 3: the alternative view to what Katie Couric is saying, and
- 11:51Speaker 3: that is if you eat better, you won't get colon cancer.
- 11:55Speaker 3: And that Katie Couric does a disservice by once a
- 11:58Speaker 3: year having a camera put in her colon, which Ms.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Dooley says is a place only your husband should be
- 12:08Speaker 3: familiar with. And I'm not sure I know what she's
- 12:10Speaker 3: talking about. Our number is 1-800-449-8686. 1-800-449-8686. Bobby Dooley with me.
- 12:17Speaker 3: The Phil Hendry Show. The Phil Hendry Show is back.
- 12:21Speaker 3: On the air with Bobby Dooley from the Western Estates
- 12:23Speaker 3: Homeowners Association. Ms. Dooley, I'm telling you, the way you
- 12:26Speaker 3: came on my show tonight was a little jarring, but
- 12:30Speaker 3: I'm over it.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Well, you know something, Phil? They use a term called
- 12:34Speaker 1: shock jock. And I'm not sure I know what that means,
- 12:36Speaker 1: but I think it means, you know, Howard Stern and
- 12:40Speaker 1: those people.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Right.
- 12:42Speaker 1: And I thought I would try a shock jock technique, too,
- 12:46Speaker 1: but only it's not crude. It's not vulgar. I told
- 12:49Speaker 1: you I had colon cancer, and you believed me, as
- 12:52Speaker 1: any good friend would. But I did that to get
- 12:55Speaker 1: your attention, Phil, that colon cancer, while it is serious,
- 13:01Speaker 1: only affects a certain number of people, people like Katie
- 13:04Speaker 1: Couric's late husband and God rest his soul. But does
- 13:09Speaker 1: Katie wake up in the middle of the night... with
- 13:11Speaker 1: sweat perhaps pouring down her face, when she realizes that
- 13:17Speaker 1: her husband's guts were possibly rotted out by her cooking.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Does she think about that? In the dead of the night,
- 13:29Speaker 1: in the night, in the dark.
- 13:34Speaker 3: I don't know, and I think that's a hell of
- 13:35Speaker 3: a thing. I'm sure that lady is tortured every night
- 13:37Speaker 3: thinking about the passing of her husband. I bet you
- 13:39Speaker 3: there isn't a night that goes by that she doesn't
- 13:41Speaker 3: have thoughts of him, misses him, dreams about him. I mean,
- 13:48Speaker 3: this is the sensitivity I'm talking about.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Of course, Phil, but I'm wondering, does she have guilt?
- 13:54Speaker 1: That she rotted out his A area.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Rotted it out?
- 13:59Speaker 1: I mean.
- 14:01Speaker 3: All right, 1-800-449-8686. And you're saying?
- 14:06Speaker 1: I am saying, Phil, you don't have to put the
- 14:09Speaker 1: nation through the disgust of looking at a place that
- 14:13Speaker 1: is better reserved for your husband through a television camera
- 14:18Speaker 1: when you can eat fresh-cut broccoli.
- 14:28Speaker 3: All right, 1-800-449-8686. Susan, go ahead. You're on the Phil
- 14:31Speaker 3: Hendry Show.
- 14:32Speaker 4: You know, you can eat all the fresh fruits and
- 14:34Speaker 4: vegetables you want. If your body carries a cancer cell
- 14:39Speaker 4: and your body becomes ripe for that time, you will
- 14:42Speaker 4: get cancer, and I don't care how much broccoli you eat.
- 14:44Speaker 1: No, it's about the immune system. Even if you have
- 14:47Speaker 1: the genetic predisposition, you can block that genetic— suppose that that genetic—
- 14:57Speaker 1: possibility by bolstering the immune system. Because, you know, the
- 15:01Speaker 1: immune system works on cancer as well as everything else.
- 15:05Speaker 1: But unless it's strong enough.
- 15:06Speaker 4: No, if it was that simple, we wouldn't have cancer.
- 15:08Speaker 1: You can't explain... No, the problem is most people's immune
- 15:12Speaker 1: systems have been impacted by their lifestyle. But the simple.
- 15:16Speaker 5: Fact that you would refer and.
- 15:18Speaker 4: Say that Katie Couric is responsible for her husband's death
- 15:23Speaker 4: and talk about her waking up into a night sweat...
- 15:25Speaker 4: Tells me that you're totally ridiculous.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Wait, wait, wait.
- 15:28Speaker 4: And it just credits anything that you may possibly have
- 15:30Speaker 4: to say.
- 15:30Speaker 1: What's wrong with what I say? And just mention and tell.
- 15:32Speaker 4: People that they need to drink rainwater?
- 15:35Speaker 1: Obviously you don't know anything about.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Are you insane?
- 15:36Speaker 1: You don't know anything about colon cancer.
- 15:38Speaker 4: I know everything about colon cancer.
- 15:40Speaker 1: No, I don't think you do.
- 15:40Speaker 4: What do you really know about it?
- 15:42Speaker 1: Well, number one, I know it can be caused by diet.
- 15:45Speaker 1: And the wrong kind of diet, especially if you're eating
- 15:47Speaker 1: meats and heavy greases, which Katie might have served to
- 15:51Speaker 1: her husband. But you know what?
- 15:53Speaker 6: That can contribute to it.
- 15:55Speaker 1: This is Dooley.
- 15:55Speaker 4: Are you going to let me speak?
- 15:57Speaker 1: No, but I'm hitting these jump shots over your head.
- 15:59Speaker 1: You're not even getting your arms up to block them.
- 16:02Speaker 3: All right, let's let Susan finish.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Phil, I'm hitting three-pointers over her head. She's not putting
- 16:07Speaker 1: up any defense.
- 16:09Speaker 3: We're not playing a basketball game here.
- 16:11Speaker 1: The fact is I'm making points that she has nothing
- 16:14Speaker 1: to refute.
- 16:14Speaker 3: What point would that be?
- 16:17Speaker 1: I said the immune system in the human body can
- 16:19Speaker 1: prevent a lot if it's well taken care of. That's
- 16:22Speaker 1: number one. Number two, Katie Couric's grease-laden dishes might, I
- 16:34Speaker 1: said might, have contributed to her husband's guts being rotted out. Mrs.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Dooley, maybe I haven't given you the respect that you deserve,
- 16:42Speaker 4: so let me get a little bit of background information
- 16:44Speaker 4: on you. And you've gotten your education from a homeowners
- 16:46Speaker 4: association meeting, is that right?
- 16:48Speaker 1: What if I told you that I had a master's
- 16:50Speaker 1: degree from Yale? I would say you wasted your money
- 16:54Speaker 1: because you didn't learn a thing. Well, obviously I'm more
- 16:57Speaker 1: educated than you are. Well, let's put that out of
- 16:59Speaker 1: the way.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Oh, my God, what makes you think that?
- 17:02Speaker 1: Well, because what's your education?
- 17:04Speaker 4: I have a master's degree.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Just because I said I have a master's degree, so
- 17:09Speaker 1: you're an original thinker. You came up with one, too?
- 17:12Speaker 7: Oh, my God.
- 17:13Speaker 1: What school did you go to? What school did you
- 17:15Speaker 1: go to?
- 17:15Speaker 4: Oklahoma University.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Where did you go? I went to Yale. What do
- 17:19Speaker 1: you do for a living? What do you do for
- 17:22Speaker 1: a living?
- 17:25Speaker 4: I asked first, sweet cheeks.
- 17:27Speaker 5: Oh, I can't say sweet cheeks.
- 17:29Speaker 4: That's reserved for your husband to look up.
- 17:31Speaker 1: You sort of degenerate into the white trash mode, don't you?
- 17:35Speaker 1: You sort of get back to your white trash roots,
- 17:36Speaker 1: don't you, when you get beat in an argument.
- 17:38Speaker 4: No, I'm going to go take my black husband to bed.
- 17:41Speaker 1: You're going to take your black behind the bed?
- 17:44Speaker 4: You need to get higher educated guests on your show.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Well, the lady lost the argument, so she's deserting the field. Goodbye, chicken. God,
- 17:51Speaker 1: I hate white trash like that.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Well, look it. You don't have a degree from Yale.
- 17:56Speaker 1: No, I know, but she's, oh, God, I hate women
- 17:59Speaker 1: like that. You know what? I'll bet that woman serves
- 18:04Speaker 1: her husband purposely heavy meats.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, that's right, just so he'll get colon cancer.
- 18:10Speaker 4: 1-800-449-8686.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Let me go over to Carrie here. We're talking to
- 18:14Speaker 3: Bobby Dooley about colon cancer awareness, and we've been spending
- 18:18Speaker 3: an awful lot of time talking about how Katie Couric
- 18:21Speaker 3: is wrong. And I would like to talk a little
- 18:23Speaker 3: bit more about what your proactive opinions may be, Ms. Dooley. Carrie,
- 18:26Speaker 3: go ahead.
- 18:27Speaker 7: Yes, there are people that die from lung cancer that
- 18:30Speaker 7: have never touched a cigarette in their life. So how
- 18:34Speaker 7: can you say that eating is controlling colon cancer?
- 18:37Speaker 1: Well, the cause of lung cancer isn't, quote, cigarettes. The
- 18:41Speaker 1: cause of lung cancer are pollutants, carcinogens that get into
- 18:46Speaker 1: the lungs. And that is found not just in cigarettes
- 18:48Speaker 1: but in air pollutions.
- 18:50Speaker 7: So can't the air pollution that you find in the air.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Where did you find... Who told you that cigarettes are
- 18:54Speaker 1: the only cause of lung cancer?
- 18:56Speaker 7: I never said that. I just said.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Well, you sort of said... Oh, yeah, you did. Yeah,
- 19:00Speaker 1: you did.
- 19:01Speaker 7: So the air pollutants in the city that you live in,
- 19:03Speaker 7: could that cause colon cancer, too? It doesn't matter if
- 19:06Speaker 7: you eat.
- 19:06Speaker 5: Fast food or fast food every day?
- 19:08Speaker 1: I don't breathe with my intestine. I don't understand.
- 19:11Speaker 7: Well, it gets into your body, doesn't it?
- 19:14Speaker 1: Well, you've got a lot of questions. Why don't you
- 19:15Speaker 1: go see a doctor? A lot of these people, Phil,
- 19:23Speaker 1: don't have any information. They just don't like me, and
- 19:25Speaker 1: that's what we've got here.
- 19:26Speaker 7: I think that your way of bringing about colon cancer
- 19:29Speaker 7: awareness was completely wrong, and I don't necessarily believe in karma,
- 19:32Speaker 7: but if anyone's going to get colon cancer, I don't
- 19:35Speaker 7: think you can stop it just by saying you're not
- 19:36Speaker 7: going to get it.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Well, your attitude may give it to you. You know,
- 19:41Speaker 1: you sit there all high and mighty and self-righteous. You
- 19:43Speaker 1: may be walking around with a bag hanging out of
- 19:45Speaker 1: your rear end one day, Oh, man.
- 19:48Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Well, Phil, you know, if they don't like me, just
- 19:54Speaker 1: say it. Don't come on here trying to outwit me.
- 19:56Speaker 1: I don't have a problem with you.
- 19:58Speaker 7: I have a problem with if you want to get
- 19:59Speaker 7: colon cancer awareness out there, that's great. You did it
- 20:02Speaker 7: very poorly.
- 20:03Speaker 1: What did I do that was wrong?
- 20:04Speaker 3: Well, you come on here and you tell me you
- 20:06Speaker 3: have colon cancer. Scared the hell out of me.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Oh, for God's sake, for what? Carrie, are you married? No,
- 20:15Speaker 1: I'm not. All right. When you marry your husband, would
- 20:18Speaker 1: you have a little bit more concern for him than
- 20:20Speaker 1: to serve him the heavy greases?
- 20:22Speaker 7: I love fast food.
- 20:25Speaker 1: You do? Do you like walking around with a plastic
- 20:28Speaker 1: bag tied to your side? No, I don't. Well, you
- 20:31Speaker 1: keep eating that fast food, and you'll be crapping into
- 20:35Speaker 1: a bag.
- 20:36Speaker 6: I sure hope I don't.
- 20:37Speaker 7: I need to change my eating habits.
- 20:38Speaker 1: You do, honey. I think if you keep doing that,
- 20:40Speaker 1: you'll be crapping into a glad bag.
- 20:43Speaker 3: The Phil Hendry Show is back. I'm talking with Bobby
- 20:45Speaker 3: and Steve Dooley about colon cancer awareness. Katie Couric is
- 20:49Speaker 3: doing her annual colonoscopy and and of course her husband
- 20:53Speaker 3: died from colon cancer and uh... bobby and steve i
- 20:55Speaker 3: know that you are of a mind that uh... we
- 20:58Speaker 3: shouldn't panic about colon cancer if you eat well now
- 21:01Speaker 3: you made the statement bobby you're never gonna get colon
- 21:03Speaker 3: cancer you started the show by saying oh my god
- 21:05Speaker 3: i've been diagnosed with colon cancer and you said you
- 21:07Speaker 3: were kidding.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Yes as a shock jock as a way of doing
- 21:10Speaker 1: a shock.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Jock as a way of doing what like a piece
- 21:14Speaker 3: of shocking material yes to.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Get your attention to colon cancer but no i'm not
- 21:19Speaker 1: going to get colon cancer The reason why I'm not
- 21:22Speaker 1: going to get colon cancer, Phil, is I have a
- 21:24Speaker 1: diet that's very, very heavy. In fruits, I drink only
- 21:31Speaker 1: pure arrowhead spring water. I don't drink tap water. I
- 21:36Speaker 1: eat a lot of vegetables. Very, very light, lean hams.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I eat chickens and fish, skinless. I do not eat
- 21:49Speaker 1: a lot. My weight never goes above 115 pounds, and I'm.
- 21:54Speaker 3: 5'7.
- 21:58Speaker 1: My exercise regimen is very, very rigorous. I hold to it.
- 22:06Speaker 1: I never vary. As a matter of fact, Phil, and
- 22:09Speaker 1: a lot of people find fault with this, and I
- 22:11Speaker 1: know why they do, but I am so really determined
- 22:16Speaker 1: to maintain my health. That last month, my niece had
- 22:21Speaker 1: been killed in a robbery. She was with her friends,
- 22:26Speaker 1: and they got into the middle of some kind of
- 22:28Speaker 1: a situation out here in Pasadena, and she was shot
- 22:33Speaker 1: to death apparently multiple times by someone.
- 22:39Speaker 3: My God, you're kidding.
- 22:41Speaker 1: No, it was horrible. But the day of her... I
- 22:49Speaker 1: had already signed up for a triathlon in Marina del Rey.
- 22:54Speaker 1: And I said to my sister, you know what? You know,
- 22:57Speaker 1: this is something the whole family is just going to
- 23:01Speaker 1: have to suck on. I'm doing this triathlon. I'm sorry
- 23:04Speaker 1: about Becky. They're having a closed coffin funeral because apparently
- 23:11Speaker 1: she said something smart, so the gunman leaned over her and.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Apparently, he fired a few more rounds into her face.
- 23:18Speaker 1: He had a personal problem with her. I don't know
- 23:20Speaker 1: what it was.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Good God! Your family has been touched by a horrible event,
- 23:25Speaker 3: and you didn't make... You didn't go out to it. Why?
- 23:28Speaker 1: Hold on, Phil. Hold the... Hold the judgment, Mr. Henry.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Hold the judgment, okay? This is what we call in
- 23:32Speaker 1: my Pilate class, hold your judgment. I didn't go because
- 23:38Speaker 1: I had entered a triathlon. And by God... I always
- 23:45Speaker 1: take care of the physical regimen. That's dedication.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Your niece was murdered in a robbery. Your family devastated.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Phil, please don't tell me about my family. I know
- 24:01Speaker 1: all about them, okay? I know all about their problems,
- 24:04Speaker 1: and they're calling here every week with some new problem.
- 24:08Speaker 1: You know, this, that, this, my niece is shot, you know.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I loved my niece very much. The best thing I
- 24:14Speaker 1: could do for her is to maintain. I'm going to
- 24:18Speaker 1: tell you something my husband said. The best thing I
- 24:20Speaker 1: could do for my niece, Becky, is to maintain, and
- 24:23Speaker 1: pardon my language, Phil, and ask you can bounce a
- 24:27Speaker 1: quarter off of. Now, you heard what he said. That's
- 24:30Speaker 1: the truth, Mr. Henry.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Was your niece into physical fitness?
- 24:35Speaker 1: I don't know. We were not very close. But I
- 24:38Speaker 1: will tell you that it is my feelings. I'll never
- 24:42Speaker 1: get colon cancer because I've got that kind of dedication. 1-800-449-8686.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Let me go to Suzanne on the Phil Henry Show. Suzanne?
- 24:52Speaker 6: Hello.
- 24:53Speaker 5: How are you?
- 24:53Speaker 3: Fine.
- 24:55Speaker 5: Thanks for having me on the show. I was just
- 24:58Speaker 5: driving along and heard your guest. I've been a nurse for.
- 25:05Speaker 5: For 20 years. And I was at one point, a
- 25:08Speaker 5: couple of years, was an ostomy nurse.
- 25:11Speaker 1: And there are not people with plastic.
- 25:15Speaker 5: Bags hanging out of their asses, first of all.
- 25:19Speaker 1: They're not people hanging bags out of their asses like
- 25:24Speaker 1: you said. You said you worked at an ostrich farm.
- 25:26Speaker 1: It sounded like she said.
- 25:28Speaker 5: I was an ostomy nurse. And you should know what
- 25:31Speaker 5: that means since you speak of plastic bags, which are colostomies.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Right, and people who get colon... Can I ask a
- 25:39Speaker 1: nursing question, Miss Marie?
- 25:40Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 25:41Speaker 1: If you get your, excuse my language, but if your
- 25:44Speaker 1: ass rots out, don't you have to have a bag
- 25:45Speaker 1: in it?
- 25:46Speaker 5: No. Anastomosis, they very rarely take the rectum out. It's
- 25:52Speaker 5: usually on the surface of the stomach. They'll bring part
- 25:55Speaker 5: of the bowel out. And it'll be an outreaching like
- 25:58Speaker 5: a butthole on your stomach.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Suzanne, did you hear this one?
- 26:02Speaker 5: It's a very big adjustment for these people, and it
- 26:04Speaker 5: isn't a lot of people. It's probably only about 15%
- 26:07Speaker 5: of the population.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Did you hear this one? Listen to this. Rectum, I
- 26:10Speaker 1: thought it was going to kill him. Did you hear
- 26:13Speaker 1: that one?
- 26:14Speaker 5: What's that?
- 26:15Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I get that. Well, so isn't it true, Suzanne,
- 26:19Speaker 1: that Katie Couric might have killed her husband? Oh, please.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Absolutely not.
- 26:24Speaker 4: It's a terrible.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Thing to say about a woman.
- 26:27Speaker 5: Where would you get such an idea?
- 26:29Speaker 1: Because if she was feeding him foods that were laden
- 26:31Speaker 1: with grease and heavy with meat....
- 26:34Speaker 5: But she didn't... I mean, even if... Do you know
- 26:37Speaker 5: she did that?
- 26:38Speaker 1: I don't. I don't. I'm just saying that if she
- 26:39Speaker 1: fed her husband.
- 26:40Speaker 5: Well, then why even bring it up if you don't know?
- 26:43Speaker 1: Does not a wife cook for her husband occasionally? If
- 26:46Speaker 1: she was feeding her husband dishes that were meat and
- 26:49Speaker 1: grease heavy... Yeah. It might have rotted it out. It
- 26:54Speaker 1: might have rotted the sphincter out. Mr.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Dooley, you know, your education, sir... Well, I.
- 27:00Speaker 1: What I'm trying to say... I know, but... Well, no. What...
- 27:05Speaker 1: Is the lady, is the caller there? Yes, I am.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Do you know what I'm saying?
- 27:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess I do, but I don't know why
- 27:12Speaker 5: you would be accusatory of her if you don't know
- 27:15Speaker 5: the truth.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Well, my idea is this. My regimen, physical regimen, is very,
- 27:23Speaker 1: very rigorous. Whole cut broccoli.
- 27:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I heard.
- 27:28Speaker 1: All right, so I eat very well.
- 27:30Speaker 5: Yeah, and I don't, but I'm not dying, and my
- 27:33Speaker 5: colon health is fine.
- 27:34Speaker 1: No, not yet, but tomorrow... I'll probably die.
- 27:37Speaker 5: Of lung cancer, and I don't smoke.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Well, honey, look, you say no, not yet. Now, tomorrow morning,
- 27:42Speaker 1: before you leave the house, you have breakfast, you sit down,
- 27:45Speaker 1: and you look back in the bowl, and it's just,
- 27:47Speaker 1: there's a floating blood clot.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 27:51Speaker 5: You are something else.
- 27:52Speaker 1: No, I'm asking you, then would you say, okay, I
- 27:55Speaker 1: guess the grease... Was bad.
- 27:58Speaker 5: Well, I doubt there's going to be grease in my
- 28:00Speaker 5: Cocoa Puffs, but.
- 28:02Speaker 1: No, no, no. I'm saying that when you finally go
- 28:04Speaker 1: into the doctor and he finally shoves... You know, Katie
- 28:08Speaker 1: Couric seems to delight in showing everyone what she's got
- 28:10Speaker 1: down there. Oh, my God. What do you think of that?
- 28:13Speaker 1: Isn't it disgusting? I don't know.
- 28:15Speaker 5: It's no weirder than what's going on right now. I'll
- 28:18Speaker 5: tell you that.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Oh, my God. She's... She's basically showing an area of
- 28:21Speaker 1: her body that only her husband should know.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Look, Ms. Dooley, you've said that about nine times.
- 28:26Speaker 7: Right.
- 28:26Speaker 3: A colonoscopy is the colon. I don't know why you
- 28:30Speaker 3: say that that's only her husband should know.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Well, if you two are prudes, fine. Okay, great.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Let's keep sex out of it then. How about that?
- 28:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:39Speaker 1: The point that I'm making is this. If you're eating
- 28:44Speaker 1: foods that are... that are just piled high and deep
- 28:49Speaker 1: with raw meat. Right. Isn't that bad for you?
- 28:53Speaker 5: No, I agree with you there.
- 28:54Speaker 1: All right, thank you. And the fruit and vegetable thing.
- 28:56Speaker 5: Is a fantastic idea. And not smoking and exercising and
- 29:00Speaker 5: all that happy.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Right. And I am dedicated to it, even though my
- 29:03Speaker 1: knees are.
- 29:04Speaker 5: That doesn't make you a vegetable.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Well, I'm sorry, your cell phone broke up.
- 29:09Speaker 5: It's a new vaccine, colon cancer.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Your cell phone.
- 29:13Speaker 5: It lowers your risk by a tremendous amount. But what
- 29:18Speaker 5: you're saying is that people eat red meat, they're going
- 29:22Speaker 5: to have a bag hanging out of their ass. And
- 29:23Speaker 5: I took offense to that because the patients that I
- 29:26Speaker 5: took care of, that's a very big adjustment. Most of
- 29:28Speaker 5: them were colon cancers, tumors. And, you know, that's a
- 29:32Speaker 5: hard adjustment to make. So people that would hear that
- 29:36Speaker 5: might take offense.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Well, I imagine that it would be a big adjustment. Look, Suzanne,
- 29:40Speaker 1: for years we're used to, you know, going a certain way.
- 29:45Speaker 1: And the next thing you know, you're being refitted like
- 29:47Speaker 1: you're a vacuum cleaner. And I find it offensive.
- 29:51Speaker 4: Right.
- 29:51Speaker 1: If a doctor said to me, Bobby, we're going to
- 29:54Speaker 1: have to hang a bag off of your side, I
- 29:57Speaker 1: don't know what I'd do, but.
- 29:59Speaker 5: It is a horrible thing, but I appreciate you trying
- 30:01Speaker 5: to help people.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Well, you're a very sweet girl.
- 30:04Speaker 5: You need to chill out a little bit, though.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Well, I am chilling out, but here. I just don't
- 30:10Speaker 1: want to eat fresh so that in the morning I
- 30:12Speaker 1: don't see grease pouring out of there.
- 30:14Speaker 5: Okay. Well, I hope you don't. But I've got to
- 30:17Speaker 5: get going. What's your last name again?
- 30:18Speaker 1: My last name is Dooley. My first name is Dooley.
- 30:22Speaker 5: Dooley, like the car Dooley or truck Dooley?
- 30:25Speaker 1: I don't know what you're referring to, but D-O-O-L-E-Y. My
- 30:29Speaker 1: husband is Steve. Our three sons, we live in California.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Where are you calling from? Springfield, Illinois. That's lovely. Just
- 30:36Speaker 1: one more question, Suzanne. Sure. Don't you agree, though, that
- 30:42Speaker 1: if you're going to have a camera up there, that
- 30:44Speaker 1: your husband should be operating it?
- 30:48Speaker 3: Will you knock it off with that?
- 30:49Speaker 5: No, I'd rather have Dr. Karras do it.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Dr.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Karras?
- 30:53Speaker 5: Oh. Yeah, he's a... Well, no, I mean.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Oh, you got something going on with him?
- 30:57Speaker 5: He's a GI guy. I don't want my husband doing it.
- 31:00Speaker 1: No, you can tell me.
- 31:00Speaker 5: My husband would perforate my bowel and.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Wait a minute, you're telling me you and Dr. Karras,
- 31:05Speaker 1: he's fooling around down there?
- 31:06Speaker 5: No.
- 31:07Speaker 3: This is a guy she works with.
- 31:08Speaker 5: Oh, that's all I need to hear.
- 31:10Speaker 1: No, he's probing down there.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Get out of here.
- 31:13Speaker 5: He has never done it.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Well, he has access to your husband.
- 31:17Speaker 5: I really appreciate it.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Well, it's a hell of a thing to give him
- 31:19Speaker 1: access and not your husband.
- 31:20Speaker 2: All right.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Ms.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Bobby Dooley, or as it says here on the press release,
- 31:25Speaker 3: I like this, but you see it, Ms. Roberta Dooley
- 31:28Speaker 3: and her husband, Steve, as part of colon cancer awareness,
- 31:34Speaker 3: are saying, don't get down, don't be negative, fresh-cut broccoli
- 31:40Speaker 3: and cauliflower are the answer. Phil Hendry Show.
- 31:43Speaker 2: The Phil Hendry Show.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Hey, Jack Ball, it's entertainment. The Phil Hendry Show is back.
- 31:49Speaker 1: And we also want everyone to know we'll be out
- 31:51Speaker 1: there at the fair this weekend, Phil, with information on
- 31:56Speaker 1: vegetables and fruits that are good for for the immune
- 32:00Speaker 1: system so that when you are taking care of yourself
- 32:04Speaker 1: in terms of your physical regimen, you're not going to
- 32:08Speaker 1: fall into the trap, oh, I have to go and
- 32:11Speaker 1: have someone put a tube up my you-know-what with a
- 32:16Speaker 1: camera on the end of it, you know, so Katie
- 32:21Speaker 1: Couric and her ilk can get their kicks.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Why do I think there's something personal No, there's nothing personal. No,
- 32:29Speaker 3: but you and Katie Couric, Katie Couric, Katie, I keep
- 32:32Speaker 3: hearing this. And there doesn't seem to be a sensitivity
- 32:34Speaker 3: to the fact she lost her husband. You tell me
- 32:36Speaker 3: you had a niece die in a holdup, in a robbery,
- 32:39Speaker 3: and you didn't go to her funeral because you entered
- 32:42Speaker 3: in a triathlon in Marina del Rey, and that's because
- 32:45Speaker 3: you can bounce a quarter off your rear end. It's
- 32:47Speaker 3: so firm and good for you. Everything is great.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Well, you don't have to make it sound, Phil, as
- 32:52Speaker 1: if it's a sin to... take care of yourself.
- 32:55Speaker 3: I think it's a sin to take care of yourself
- 32:58Speaker 3: at the exclusion of life.
- 33:01Speaker 1: What does that mean?
- 33:02Speaker 3: I'll tell you what it means. People that are so
- 33:04Speaker 3: into their health, you know, I'll tell you something that
- 33:08Speaker 3: I believe, you know, people that live to be old,
- 33:10Speaker 3: people who live to be over a hundred.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Yes.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Okay. I have a theory about those people. I know
- 33:14Speaker 3: that Willard Scott used to stick them on his show,
- 33:16Speaker 3: you know, on, on today's show. And everybody digs him.
- 33:19Speaker 3: I think people who live a long time are selfish people.
- 33:22Speaker 3: I don't think you live a long time unless all
- 33:24Speaker 3: you care about in this world is yourself. And when
- 33:26Speaker 3: you're only concerned with your health, health, health, health, health, health, health,
- 33:30Speaker 3: at the exclusion of people, I would rather die young, okay,
- 33:34Speaker 3: having lived a life and lived it with people, trying
- 33:38Speaker 3: to help people, than live to be 150 and only
- 33:42Speaker 3: concerned with myself.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Well, I don't think you're going to be dying young, Phil.
- 33:45Speaker 1: You're 53. Wake up. Steve, get him. He says, I
- 33:49Speaker 1: hope I die young, right? Yeah, we heard.
- 33:52Speaker 3: I don't have time for a call?
- 33:56Speaker 1: I'd like to talk to some people, Phil, other than you,
- 33:58Speaker 1: because I think you've been very unfair.
- 33:59Speaker 3: No, can I? I don't know. Take a break, and
- 34:02Speaker 3: then we'll take a call. 1-800-449-8686. Oh, okay. Let's do that, then. Yeah.
- 34:07Speaker 3: Phil Henry Show.
- 34:08Speaker 1: You know what we used to do with guys like you?
- 34:10Speaker 1: We'd leave your butt up with a flower in it.
- 34:12Speaker 3: The Phil Henry Show is back.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Not allowing me to make my point about Glad Baggs.
- 34:18Speaker 3: That lady was a nurse in that field. She knew
- 34:20Speaker 3: what she was talking about. We're back with Bobbi and
- 34:21Speaker 3: Steve Dooley. We'll take a couple more calls. Mary, go ahead.
- 34:24Speaker 3: You're on the Phil Hendry Show. We're talking about colon
- 34:26Speaker 3: cancer awareness. Go ahead.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Yes, Phil.
- 34:29Speaker 6: I was driving and listening to her, and I have
- 34:32Speaker 6: to say that I have stomach problems, and I have
- 34:36Speaker 6: a master's degree, and this woman is doing such a
- 34:40Speaker 6: disservice to anyone who might be considering going to have
- 34:43Speaker 6: a colonoscopy or who is seriously worried about about their
- 34:47Speaker 6: health or about their colon.
- 34:49Speaker 5: She is a quack.
- 34:50Speaker 6: She sounds like she's off smoking some kind of, you know,
- 34:52Speaker 6: pot off in California. She's 117 pounds, and she's 5'7.
- 34:59Speaker 4: I mean, I.
- 35:01Speaker 6: Can't believe she would be on the air to let
- 35:06Speaker 6: her talk on the air because people who are genuinely
- 35:09Speaker 6: concerned about this disease.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I am genuinely concerned about this disease. She's jealous. She's
- 35:15Speaker 1: very jealous.
- 35:16Speaker 6: She keeps referring to Katie Couric in a very cold way.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Well, that's my problem. I think there is some jealousy
- 35:22Speaker 3: going on.
- 35:22Speaker 6: Even on there, yeah.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Very jealous. Mary number one. What stomach problems do you have?
- 35:28Speaker 6: Are you serious at all about this?
- 35:31Speaker 1: Yes, you're the one with the stomach problems.
- 35:32Speaker 6: And you got on this show and started talking about
- 35:35Speaker 6: saying that you had cancer?
- 35:36Speaker 1: Yes.
- 35:37Speaker 6: I mean, why would someone, you know, I teach oral communication.
- 35:42Speaker 1: You teach oral what?
- 35:42Speaker 6: And I can't believe you would use some type of,
- 35:45Speaker 6: you know, something like this.
- 35:48Speaker 1: You know, Mary, I bet you teach oral communication.
- 35:50Speaker 5: Attention getters. Let me tell you, to get no one's attention.
- 35:54Speaker 1: You are really weird. You haven't shut up. You're not
- 35:56Speaker 1: saying anything that I said right.
- 35:57Speaker 6: Oh, well, you know, I've seen what you've done to
- 35:59Speaker 6: other callers.
- 36:00Speaker 5: You keep going, mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
- 36:01Speaker 1: You don't talk right.
- 36:02Speaker 6: You are so uncredible.
- 36:03Speaker 1: You sound very retarded.
- 36:04Speaker 6: I cannot believe you are even getting in here time.
- 36:06Speaker 6: What qualifies you to be able to get on a.
- 36:10Speaker 1: News program and talk to people? Well, I'm not bleeding
- 36:11Speaker 1: from the rear end like you are. I'm not bleeding
- 36:12Speaker 1: from the rear end like you are. Oh, no, I'm
- 36:13Speaker 1: not bleeding.
- 36:14Speaker 6: I'm very healthy.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Every time you open your mouth, you sink into a
- 36:17Speaker 1: bigger swamp of gum.
