- 4:34night and meticulously research the historical and psychological context of myths and legends from around
- 4:43the world. Mister Murphy seeks to uncover, excuse me, the archetypal president
- 4:49for monsters that haunt our collective thoughts. All right, please help me.
- 4:55Welcome to the show, Ron Murphy him so bodi a cup of tea right
- 5:00now, Jessica, Oh, thank you, welcome. I'm so happy to
- 5:06be here. I've been a fan of yours since you first, you know,
- 5:11made these networks your own. So I'm flattered to be here. You
- 5:15called me up and I said, time and place, Baby, time and
- 5:17place. Absolutely, and I appreciate your enthusiasm. I'm excited. I'm excited.
- 5:25I'm more excited to talk with you that I've been excited about a lot
- 5:29of things in a while. Oh my gosh. Yeah, Well, you
- 5:31and I have a lot in common because we are both into cryptids were I
- 5:39love coozies. I never bey, but I collect them because I don't drink
- 5:44or anything, and I don't need a cooozy for any reason in my life.
- 5:46But because you're selling them, I'm going to find a reason. Oh
- 5:50thank you. Well, you know what. I drink sparkling water all day.
- 5:56Sparkling water. Yeah, so I love a koozy on my sparkling water.
- 6:00I could use it for PEPSI couldn't. I absolutely I will get one.
- 6:08I'll drink my beverage whenever i'm on with you out of it. Actually,
- 6:11every show that I go on, I'll use your koozie. There we
- 6:15go. Oh my gosh, I would love that. That would make that
- 6:18would make my day. Every day anytime I saw you. Yeah, absolutely,
- 6:24Okay, Well, we're not here to talk about coozies tonight. I
- 6:27thought that was the subjection. We're here to talk about legends of vampires and
- 6:32were wolves, local legends from all over the country, all over the country,
- 6:36particularly vampires. And I think you might have a vampire story that I
- 6:42really want to hear about. But first, okay, I want to hear
- 6:45about your spooky season. You just came off of a whole entire month of
- 6:50giving ghost tours. Where you live, tell me a little bit about that.
- 6:55So I live in western Pennsylvania. We're about about thirty five miles outside
- 6:59of Pittsburgh. But where I grew up in a town that I spent a
- 7:02lot of time in. They really become one of these towns where they become
- 7:08bedroom communities, right, there's really not anymore, but they have such a
- 7:13long history that so many people have forgotten about. So my hometown was Blairsville,
- 7:18and it was built originally on the canal system back in the eighteen twenties,
- 7:21but it really had its kind of high mark in the railroad system,
- 7:27right, So it has all these great stories about phantom cowboys and shadow figures
- 7:35haunting railroad tracks and you know, ghosts that hover around the waters and everything
- 7:42there. And I thought it would be a cool way to really teach people
- 7:46about the past of these little small towns by bringing it to life, to
- 7:50the stories that ghosts have to tell. And the other one that we did
- 7:54was in a little place called dry that was a huge mining in railroad community
- 7:59and it's a it's a it's a wee town, right, it's maybe maybe
- 8:03I don't know, sixteen hundred people that live there. It's a very small
- 8:05town and you know, almost eighty people showed up for us. It was
- 8:09a great turnout on a very very cold evening. And it's something that I'd
- 8:13like to do, you know, for historical societies, because they're trying so
- 8:18much to get the word out about you know, you know, their towns
- 8:24and the great history that they have and you know, preservation and everything.
- 8:26So I thought I would give a little bit back by doing these kind of
- 8:30tours. So I had a great time. And the one thing that I
- 8:33did as well too, is I was in I was in a place called
- 8:37Lynch, Kentucky, where I actually was part of a ghost tour and I
- 8:41portrayed somebody from the uh, from the past, and I got to play
- 8:45a ghost. So, oh, did you dress you dress up like a
- 8:48ghost? Well, no, because the historical Society down there did a very
- 8:52good job by having everybody just regularly appearing as a figure from the past.
- 8:58It was kind of like cause playing, you know. But I do enjoy
- 9:01to do historical reenactments and I do that every chance that I get. And
- 9:05I was flattered they asked me to do that down in Kentucky because I've never
- 9:09got a chance to do it out of state before. Oh that's amazing.
- 9:11I mean, I love the historical aspect to any kind of a paranormal investigating
- 9:18that my teams do, right, because we have to know the history of
- 9:22the areas that we are investigating. That's right. That's what I want to
- 9:26as well too. You can't go in there without knowing what preceded you,
- 9:31right, I mean, none of this stuff exists in a vacuum. The
- 9:33reason why we're going there to investigate is something from the past is trying to
- 9:41manifest itself. And something from the past has a story to tell, and
- 9:45so many people overlook that because they want to see lights going off and here
- 9:48voices and pretend it's a demon. Right, That's what everybody wants nowadays the
- 9:54ghost hunting. Ghost hunting is more of it's more archaeology than it is bumps
- 10:01in the night. Yeah. I can totally agree with that, and a
- 10:05lot of the even the bigfooting that we do, and honestly, my team
- 10:09when we go out and look for bigfoot, we find those areas because of
- 10:13local legends and lore, Okay. And that's what we're talking about tonight,
- 10:18are local legends and lore. Because wherever there's a ghost road, wherever there
- 10:22is any tell that goes way back in time for generations, there's usually a
- 10:28lot of high strangeness in those areas. Am I right? You absolutely,
- 10:33And the more that you know about those areas through the folklore and such,
- 10:37that's how you come to conclusion about what might be going on, or at
- 10:41least some sort of you know, uh, theory that what might be going
- 10:43on. I'm going to pitch a show for you, Okay. If any
- 10:46networks are out there listening, I'm sure they all are. I think that
- 10:50you and I should be in a show called Paranormal Archaeologist. I would buy
- 10:54that. I would watch it anytime. Oh my god, I'm totally down.
- 10:58I'm in to the hundreds. Are going to be scouring the world to
- 11:03bring what is hidden to light. All right, sounds perfect, I'm totally
- 11:09okay. Yeah. And you know, before before we went live tonight,
- 11:13we were talking about Indian burial mounds, and you know that's something that I'm
- 11:18really into right now, Indian burial mounds, the giants, you know.
- 11:22Yeah, you and I we get We can talk for days. Yeah,
- 11:26we can totally talk for days. You can talk for days. You're luck
- 11:30if you're going to get to the next forty five minutes, don't maybe laugh
- 11:35because I can't hardly talk tonight. It's because I've been talking so much this
- 11:39week. I've done so many shows. Yeah, that's right. Yeah,
- 11:43but it's it's it's it's rather it's rather seductive. So anybody that's listening to
- 11:48this on headphones, I'm sure it's getting a bit of a thrill out of
- 11:50this. Super raspy, super raspy, I know, and all the coffee
- 11:54and I'm going to try to hit the mute button, I promise. If
- 11:56I have to cough, you guys, I'm so sorry. It's it's just
- 12:00one of those things. But anyways, okay, so so your ghosts,
- 12:05your ghosts tours were awesome. You know, I actually took a ghost tour
- 12:09a while back in a battlefield here in Georgia. We had some weird stuff
- 12:15happened as we were leaving. Some cannons were firing in the battlefield that nobody
- 12:18heard but me and my son, and well see, that's why I tell
- 12:22everybody as well too. You know, ghost hunting is very subjective. Some
- 12:26people can get something out of it and other people can't. You know,
- 12:31that's right. Not everybody experiences the things that we experience for whatever reason.
- 12:35It's that frequency, right, the frequency, the vibration, the energy of
- 12:39it. How open you are as well to it as well, if you
- 12:43go when they're skeptical. I mean, some things could happen, but for
- 12:46the most part, you have to be willing to allow some sort of you
- 12:52know, revelation into this. That's right, that's right. Well, hey,
- 12:56I want to hear your revelations about the Kentucky vampire that we've been talking
- 13:01about. Yeah, a local legend, because I know a few a few
- 13:07vampires out of Kentucky. Okay, of vampire legends. I don't know them
- 13:11personally, Okay. Well, so Kentucky is steeped in vampire war. Now,
- 13:16a lot of it is more local, a lot of it is more
- 13:22you know, more modern work. People take on the identity of a vampire
- 13:26to do heinous things. Right. So the story that I'm going to tell
- 13:30you is a story that hearkens back to probably the nineteen fifteens, nineteen twenties,
- 13:35somewhere around there the early to the early part of the twentieth century,
- 13:43a place called Lynch, Kentucky was the largest coal filled in the world.
- 13:48Right, people came from all over the world to work there because the money
- 13:52was good and there was good study of work, and they were getting a
- 13:56lot of immigrants over of course, I think there were something like thirty some
- 14:01different countries had workers that went there. So one of the tells is that
- 14:07somebody from Romania came over and his name was Rup. Okay, he arrived
- 14:11through the train, came right whenever the coal boom was was was was was
- 14:18catching on. And he was very tall. Uh. He had this long
- 14:22hair and a scraggly beard, and he really you know, a deep accent,
- 14:28and nobody knew his last name. And one of those kinds of mysterious
- 14:31characters. So the people of Lynch, Kentucky were very happy whenever he decided
- 14:37that he was going to take make make his cabin up in the woods in
- 14:41the mountains, away from everybody, right, so he was gone, good
- 14:46riddance to him. But then what happens is animals start up coming showing up
- 14:52mutilated, right, and it was left with their head and hind quarters and
- 14:56and they were seemingly drained of all blood. Right. And then after the
- 15:01animals start becoming mutilated, people start showing up missing. And one person that
- 15:05showed up missing was a very popular traveling salesman and they found him very close
- 15:11to the vicinity of RUP's cabin, and he, too, my dear,
- 15:16was drained of blood. Okay, so as it goes, as it goes,
- 15:20a couple of the mountain boys of the town, they were kind of
- 15:26dared a double dog dared to go do some investigation and see what might be
- 15:30going up there at Rough's cabin. So they headed out of Lynch in the
- 15:33middle of the night, and they made their ways into the hills and hollows,
- 15:35and they finally came upon Rupp's cabin and they snuck up to the window.
- 15:41They put their hands up against the grimy glass, and guess what they
- 15:45saw inside of there? What Rupp at his dining room table eating raw flesh
- 15:52with a blood hoaring out of his mouth and dripping down his chin, stating
- 15:56at red. So they got out of there as quickly as possible, rare.
- 16:00The hallway back to Lynch was like fifteen miles away, And they get
- 16:03there. The townspeople see that they're traumatized, so they take them to the
- 16:07sheriff. And you know what the sheriff thoughts, Jess, I don't know
- 16:12what is because there's no law against eating raw meat. Basically, they thought
- 16:18that the kids were lying right, Well, what kind of meat was it?
- 16:21Do they ever determine, like exactly what that meat was? No,
- 16:23But I'm gonna go a little bit deeper in the story. We might be
- 16:26able to. I mean, because I like my steak medium rare, Okay,
- 16:30So I'm just saying I do like to I like to see a little
- 16:33bit of blood. You know, I'm talking about me too. I got
- 16:36to move a little bit. Maybe you're a vampire, but so I will
- 16:41give you the So I will give you what happens next. Okay, the
- 16:45sheriff said, you can do nothing because legally eats. So what happens is
- 16:52people still end up missing. Beef tark, that's right, that's right,
- 16:56human tartar uh. People are still going missing and animals are still being found
- 17:04mutilated. So a couple of the of the good old boys in town said,
- 17:08you know what, this is the end. We're going to form ourselves
- 17:11some mountain justice here. And they got pitchforks and torches in hands, and
- 17:15guns and hand and they go up there to the to RUP's cabin. They
- 17:18kick in the door and guess what they find inside? What? Human body
- 17:23parts strewn all across the floor, engagulated blood on the dining room table and
- 17:30the countertops, and by the fireplace a stack of human limbs. But no
- 17:37Rup, RUP's not there. So they burned the cabin down, fearing it
- 17:41is possessed by some sort of evil entity. But still no Rub So they
- 17:48started a manhunt. Went on for about a week, and for some reason
- 17:52they can't find this over six foot tall foreign guy with a heavy accent anywhere,
- 17:57so he'd never find him again. That's it. He goes completely completely,
- 18:03you know, a wall, nobody could find him. However, it's
- 18:07still said to this very day, if you go up to Black Mountain in
- 18:11Virginia, people still go missing and animals are still found mutilated because the vampire
- 18:18rup might still be prowling the areas where the old coal fields existed. Yeah,
- 18:26I like that story. So the reason I like that for a couple
- 18:29of reasons is he comes from Romania, so you have that link already with
- 18:33the vampire legends and such, right, And there's also in Pennsylvania. Up
- 18:37near Erie, Pennsylvania, there's something up there called the Vampire's Mausoleum that's a
- 18:45crypt. And as the story goes, somebody came over from Romania, you
- 18:51know, and he had consumption and he died. But people around Erie started
- 18:59to be found of the outskirts of town with their blood drained dead. Right,
- 19:03So one of the groundskeepers at the cemetery began to see a black figure
- 19:11leaving the mausoleum and returning right before daylight. So he thought this might be
- 19:15the person that's responsible for all these heinous murders around town. And as the
- 19:19story goes, he chained the mausoleum up and set it on fire. And
- 19:25no more killings went on. Right, But you know, this was in
- 19:29the late eighteen hundreds, and by the nineteen twenties nineteen thirties, people are
- 19:33starting to not believe this story much anymore. So a group of kids,
- 19:37you know, probably high school kids, they got together and they said,
- 19:41we got to get to the bottom of this and see what's inside that mausoleum.
- 19:45And one of the boys said, I will do it right. We
- 19:48always have to have this one brave kid, And after his parents went to
- 19:52sleep, he snuck one out of his house with a shovel. And no
- 19:57story ever ends up well whenever a teenage boy leaves the house after midnight with
- 20:02a shovel and is in but he goes over to the crypt and he takes
- 20:07the shovel, he breaks the chain, sneaks on in, and there in
- 20:12the middle of the crypt is the lifeless body of this gentleman who they think
- 20:18is a vampire. And there's no decay on him whatsoever, right, And
- 20:22he has to prove that he was there because his friends are not going to
- 20:26believe it. So on the body is a ring, and the boy steps
- 20:32down and grabs the ring and slips it off his finger, and he said,
- 20:34now I will show my friends that I was inside this crypt. Goes
- 20:38back home, go to sleep. Early. The next morning, there's a
- 20:42knock at the door. The mother answers, and it's his friends, eager
- 20:45to find out what happened to little Johnny the night before, and they say,
- 20:51is little Johnny up? And his mother says, I don't know yet,
- 20:53let me go see. So she goes up to his room, opens
- 20:56his bedroom door, and there in bed is little Johnny lying dead, his
- 21:03face in a horrible scowl, and his ring finger is missing because what was
- 21:08ever there inside his room took that ring back and removed his his finger as
- 21:14well. Oh that's horrible, that's horrible. That was a cursed ream.
- 21:19It's a first ring or or the owner just simply wanted it back. He
- 21:23wanted it back. That's right, he wanted back. So you can see
- 21:27these, so we'll make some connections here. Again, it's might be xenophobia,
- 21:30right, because the the the the fear of the other is part of
- 21:36all these vampire stories. Right, they come from some place where normal people
- 21:41don't go to. Right. The Lotta Romanian is becoming a bit of a
- 21:44tourist spot, right, now, but they go someplace where people don't normally
- 21:47go. They speak a language that is not one of these common languages,
- 21:51not like Polish or it's not like you know, German or anything like that.
- 21:55Uh. The Romanian language is actually based upon Latin, so so it's
- 22:00a strange language, strange people with strange customs. So there might be some
- 22:04of that going on. But I like the way that you can go to
- 22:08these places and hear about how other countries' mythologies passed over to ours. You
- 22:15know, it's great to see this myth making in our country. Absolutely.
- 22:21Okay, this is so wild because as you're telling me this story, I
- 22:26have a story that was told to me by my new friend. Her name
- 22:29is Bryce Esoteric Atlanta. I did an interview with her this week on her
- 22:34channel, and you know, I'm from Georgia. We're about Georgia girls.
- 22:37So we like a really good Georgia's story, right, something paranormal. We
- 22:41love the history. Both of us. We really hit it off. I
- 22:45think that's why partly why my voice has gone because we talk so much.
- 22:48Okay, but she was telling me about the Georgia werewolf. Okay, we
- 22:55actually have a Georgia werewolf from It was from the eighteen hundreds, and it
- 23:00was not a man. It was a woman, a female were wolf.
- 23:04Yeah, but I'm listening to your story, Ron, and it's almost the
- 23:11exact same story of this woman were a wolf. Oh my gosh. Okay,
- 23:17Well, I actually have some pictures to pull up tonight if you okay,
- 23:22Well, I should have talked to you before the show. We could
- 23:23have gotten some pictures of here. Thank you, the girl and her going.
- 23:27Yes, Bryce is awesome. Thank you. That was a great It
- 23:30was one of my favorite interviews I've done in a very long time. So
- 23:34thank you. Okay, So we're gonna pull up a couple of pictures because
- 23:38there was a woman name they called her Emmy, and her real name was
- 23:41Emily Isabella Burt here in Georgia. And what is what makes this so near
- 23:48and dear to my heart is that she was from the area where I just
- 23:53was big footing last weekend. I spent the weekend out in the Troop Heard
- 23:57Corridor here in middle Georgia. I'm gonna show you a picture of the area.
- 24:03So this is around Herd County. This is around the area that I
- 24:07believe that's Herd county. And these are the counties right there. This is
- 24:12kind of the corridor right here with the counties right here. All right,
- 24:17people not from Georgia, you guys won't I know, y'all probably don't even
- 24:19care. But I'm just saying that that's kind of the amount of counties.
- 24:22This is where that woman was from. Let me pull that back up.
- 24:26Yeah, she was from from one of those counties right there, mewe Herd
- 24:30County or was it. It was look like one of the counties though,
- 24:33that was over on the left hand side. Is that right, Yeah,
- 24:37Herd is on the far left, that's right. And the state beside that
- 24:42is that is that Kinnessee, it's Alabama. It's right in Alabama. Yeah,
- 24:49let me let me go back. Let's see. Yeah, that's Georgia.
- 24:53Alabama. Alabama is right here where my favorite I'm in Alabama. You're
- 24:59South Carolina in the Atlantic Ocean. I was trying to make some connection between
- 25:03the limb between the lakes. See, oh that's north yeah, yeah,
- 25:08absolutely. Okay, So let's talk about this woman. Okay, so this
- 25:14is let's see, I'm going to show you a picture of her mother first.
- 25:17Actually, let's show you I'll show you her. This is Emily Isabella
- 25:21Burt. She was born around July twenty ninth of eighteen forty two. Her
- 25:27dad died around the time she was five, about to turn six years old,
- 25:30and he was only around forty. But they were a very rich family.
- 25:36Excuse me. They had a lot of money and he left their family
- 25:40a lot of money and a lot of land. Excuse me, A hold
- 25:45on, all right, I'm back. Okay. So the mother, her
- 25:56name was Mildred. She kind of took over as soon as Emma's or Emmy's
- 26:02dad died, took over the farm, the plantation. Some stories say that
- 26:07she sent all the kids to Europe for school, for boarding school. Other
- 26:11stories say that she actually was like a high society kind of lady and and
- 26:18and didn't say the kids went overseas. But okay, but her daughter,
- 26:25Emma or Emmy, this woman right here, she was an introvert. She
- 26:30was into reading books about the supernatural and the paranormal. She had a very
- 26:33strange appearance. She had an underbite, okay, and her teeth were really
- 26:40sharp and messed up. Her teeth were like broken and sharp. She never
- 26:45smiled. She was an insomniac. She never slept and let's see, excuse
- 26:53me a whole more time. Well, if I ever needed a cop drop,
- 26:59y'all, I'll tell you what. Okay. But she would she would
- 27:03sleep at night. I'm not sleep at night. She would stay awake all
- 27:06night. And her sister was an extrovert, okay, and she was kind
- 27:11of like engaged to like the wealthy plantation owner's son from down the way,
- 27:17and the plantation own her son, the wealthy guy, came over and he
- 27:21was telling the family about their their sheep getting slaughtered and they weren't being eaten
- 27:26all the blood was being drained from their bodies. Okay. So that was
- 27:30similar to that story that you just told. The blood was drained from their
- 27:33bodies, they were not eaten, okay. But so Emmy was like super
- 27:41interested in the story. She wanted to hear more, but like her sister,
- 27:44who was an extrovert, didn't want to talk about it. She thought
- 27:45it was a gross Well, the attacks kept growing and more sheep started going
- 27:52missing, and I think the mother was was she kind of assumed or it
- 28:00was very she was suspicious that her daughter was going out there and killing those
- 28:03animals, at night, okay, and so they got a hunting party for
- 28:08whatever this creature was. It was going out there and killing all these animals,
- 28:12all of the livestock that was in the area. Was like going missing.
- 28:15It wasn't just going missing, it was like ending up dead. And
- 28:18the blood was all dreamed. So Mildred decided. The mother decided that she
- 28:22was going to be a part of these hunting parties that was going to go
- 28:26look for this creature because she was worried it was actually her daughter. Okay,
- 28:32this is real stuff, y'all. This is from This is a Georgia
- 28:34historical story. So the story goes that she went out with that hunting party
- 28:41one night and they didn't find anything. There was no action that night.
- 28:45So she decided she was walking home and like the boyfriend of her daughters said,
- 28:49hey, i'll walk you home. She goes, no, you know,
- 28:52I'm a good shot. She had a gun. She's like, I'm
- 28:53a good shot. I'll shoot anything if it gets my way. And uh,
- 29:00as she's walking home, she heard a noise. Excuse me, she
- 29:04heard a noise. The bushes started moving around her. A creature lunges at
- 29:11her from the bushes. She shoots it, and the thing scampers off.
- 29:18She's scared of death, runs home and as she gets home, she finds
- 29:21her daughter Emmy on the front porch cowering and her hand is blown off.
- 29:29Her hand had been completely mangled. That's awesome. Okay, yeah, this
- 29:34is supposed to be a true story. Okay. So the mother takes her
- 29:38to the local doctor and then and she tells the doctor she is it straight
- 29:42up with him. She says, excuse me. She says, hey,
- 29:49something jumped out at me. I shot it. It looked like an animal.
- 29:52But then I came home. My daughter's hand was blown off, And
- 29:56he was like, well, don't worry. Like he was unusually calm,
- 30:00and he said, uh, well, that is something that we call cancanthrow
- 30:04thropy or like aanthropy. I think it's how you pronounce it. He said.
- 30:10It's a mental condition. It causes a person to take on wolf like
- 30:12characteristics. Don't worry, it's a mental condition. Okay. So the mother
- 30:18was like freaked out, right, So she sent Emmy over to Europe to
- 30:23go be to go to to go to like a mental hospital there. But
- 30:30she told the family and all her friends that she was there visiting family.
- 30:33Okay, so, oh my gosh, my son just came here to bring
- 30:37me cough drops, y'all, thank you, thank you, that's my son.
- 30:44So she was there for a number of months and then when then the
- 30:48mother got message, a message from the doctor's there at that mental hospital,
- 30:52and she said, the doctor said, hey, she's ready to come home.
- 30:56She's completely cured. And so the mother brought her home secretly didn't tell
- 31:03anybody, right, because the rumors had already spread throughout that town that they
- 31:07thought maybe that Emmy was the one that was the werewolf okay, or like,
- 31:11I'm not gonna say werewolf, she was the one that was like killing
- 31:15all these animals, gotcha. So she came home. The mother hid her
- 31:21away, she kept an eye on her. Eventually animals started going being slaughtered
- 31:27again, okay, and and the blood was being taken from them, and
- 31:32it wasn't as bad as before, but it was so happening. And then
- 31:34eventually it kind of died off. Right. But that's the story of Emmy
- 31:41the werewolf woman. Now, she did have she just had a very unusual
- 31:44look about her. She didn't sleep at night, her teeth rall messed up,
- 31:48and they were broken and like shards, like you know sharp. Was
- 31:53she a real werewolf? I don't think we'll ever know for a positive,
- 31:56right, But I can't see. She's stayed at home for the rest of
- 32:00her life. She never got married, she never had kids. She was
- 32:05very wealthy. She owned like three hundred acres of land in one county,
- 32:08and she owned houses and warehouses and other counties. And she died in nineteen
- 32:15eleven. And she's buried in Talbot County on the near the troop Herd Corridor
- 32:21where we do our Bigfoot research. Wow. Wow Yes. And interestingly enough,
- 32:27that was the last name of Lon Cheney in The Wolfman was Larry Talbot.
- 32:31No way, yeah, true story. Wow, I know, I
- 32:36know. Now I will tell you yeah, go ahead, yeah, go
- 32:38ahead and tell her have herself for goodness, my son to the rescue.
- 32:44One of the other reasons why a couple of reasons why I like to be
- 32:46on your show. Number one ultimately is I like to be talking with you.
- 32:51But the number two thing is is your fit as your followers are some
- 32:53of the best out there, right, without a doubts faced out radio followers
- 32:58are the best in the business. And this gentleman right here named John Fortman
- 33:02has a very interesting thing to say. The hand thing is a staple in
- 33:07Where Wolf Floor. It's the oldest recorded warble story going back in agent Rome,
- 33:12and that is very very true. So what we see in a lot
- 33:15of these stories is somebody confronts usually a loved one, a husband, a
- 33:20wife. Sometimes it's military related, so it's somebody that's in a particular regiment
- 33:27with somebody and there's a battle or a sword fight or a shot and that
- 33:31person is wounded by somebody that they love. Right, So what we have
- 33:36within this story is definitely within the lineage of Where Wolfloor. Right. So,
- 33:44whether that's true or not, it makes for a hell of a story,
- 33:45right, That's the whole thing too. That's what That's what paranormal walk
- 33:50archaeologists do ultimately, right, is that we sift through all the sand and
- 33:53everything like that to try to get to the truth. And I think what
- 33:58we find here is somebody that may have been a little bit off putting physically
- 34:02for whatever reason, or they were eccentric, or they were you know,
- 34:07whatever the case may be, whatever set them apart, whatever ostracized them from
- 34:13the community. They were made into a monster by attaching all these other tropes
- 34:17to them. That's at least my opinion whenever I come to this kind of
- 34:21stuff. But it could I could be wrong. The other thing that I
- 34:24wanted to point out too, is there are some telltale signs if you think
- 34:29you might be a werewolf. One of them is if you have hair on
- 34:31the palms of your on your feet, or on the palms of your hands.
- 34:36Yeah, if you have a unibrow, you could be. Yeah,
- 34:40it could be one of those as well too. If you are a redhead,
- 34:45if you're a ginger, both for werewolves and vampires, good possibility.
- 34:51It just goes you're cursed that's right. That's right. And giants that's right,
- 34:54it says your cart so and and there are different ways that you can
- 34:58become a werewolf too. The oldest one that you didn't have to be a
- 35:01bit right. I mean, it's usually making some sort of deal with a
- 35:06devil where you're cursed by a witch, or if you drink out of a
- 35:08wolf's paw under a full moon, that will also get you to be a
- 35:15one of them, there were wolves. How do you drink out of a
- 35:16wolf's paws? Rain you know what I'm saying. A footprint right there filled
- 35:22up with rain. I'm a little bit thirsty. The moon's out gold gold,
- 35:27funny. That's right. If you're an unbaptized child, you might grow
- 35:32up to be one of them. There were wolf creatures, so there's so
- 35:37there's a lot of things that could get you there. But a lot of
- 35:40the things had to deal with with religion, you know, baptism, being
- 35:45cursed, I deal with a douvil, things like that. But the vampires
- 35:51and were wolves intrigue me so much because of all the monsters that we search
- 35:58for and all the things that go bump of the night, these are by
- 36:01far the most human because in essence, they are humans that have transformed into
- 36:07something that they really had no control over. Okay, that's a great point,
- 36:13and John John has some great comments. Yeah, John John, I
- 36:17need to get you on my show. Okay, you need to hit me
- 36:20up sometime, and I'm going to bring you on because you have. He's
- 36:23been in my chat the past week. You've had the best comments. Oh
- 36:27my gosh, And it's so true. Now that's something that I questioned about
- 36:32Emmy, right she Okay, so what I what I what I was told.
- 36:37And according to my friend, my new friend, Bryce Terry, Atlanta,
- 36:43she said that Emmy looked like her dad. She she had bushy eyebrows,
- 36:47exactly what you said. But she eyebrows and a lot of hair,
- 36:53and she was Okay, this is this is kind of hard to say.
- 36:57She wasn't pretty. No, she was, Oh man, she was.
- 37:07She was yeah, something like that. She wasn't pretty. Unfortunately, she
- 37:13was a dog. Stop it. Oh my gosh, you're gonna get me
- 37:19in trouble. Okay, No, she she was. Yes, she probably
- 37:22howled at the moon too. I don't. Yes, but but she she
- 37:29was probably bullied, Okay, and so that's something that's kind of a big
- 37:31that's a big thing right now. Some of us in this community have been
- 37:35getting bullied. Okay, so I know how that feels. Yeah. But
- 37:42but she but from what I understand, she she went through some depression.
- 37:45She had been bullied. She also was an awkward person, like an awkward
- 37:50human, and she did things that normal women didn't really do. Like she
- 37:53she stayed isolated, and she sat in her library and read books all day
- 37:58when the other girls were out there socializing, hanging out with boys, boys,
- 38:01can be bad though. Yes, it's a dog eat dog world out
- 38:06there, so I can understand what she's going through, it is right,
- 38:10I can't too. But it is so similar to the story that you were
- 38:14talking about that with the vampires. Yeah, you know, it makes you
- 38:19wonder are these all are these real stories? Are they all kind of made
- 38:22up and like or or it's like the same outline. It's like it's the
- 38:28what do you call it? It's like a default kind of Yeah, it's
- 38:31a story, so it's a certain name here, you know what I mean?
- 38:35And liter sure they would call it a trope, right, it's something
- 38:37it's like something that they just kind of highlight, click and start it right
- 38:42unto their story. Right. But obviously all of these stories is based upon
- 38:46some reality, right, so the character within these stories is somebody that actually
- 38:52existed. And as you said, why then does this trope get attached to
- 38:58their lives? And I think that you've made a great argument to the reason
- 39:04why these people are different. Uh, And you know, and and whenever
- 39:07people are different, we don't necessarily want to explain why they're different. We
- 39:13want to attack those differences, right and at think time, you know,
- 39:15through through time, people start evolving these stories and in a game of telephone,
- 39:22they become something that they they actually were not. Yeah, exactly,
- 39:30Oh my gosh, long only Bigfoot. Thank you for that supersticker. That
- 39:34is very sweet of you. Yes, yeah it. People people do want
- 39:40to attack people other people for not being you know, not following the norm,
- 39:45for not looking like everybody else, for not getting in line and you
- 39:49know, doing what they're told and stuff. And that's why, you know
- 39:52what that reminds me of as a matter of fact. Oh and I want
- 39:55to thank the girl and her gong. Thank you so much for your support.
- 39:59That is so sweet of you. I appreciate you. We appreciate all
- 40:01of you guys here at Space Out Radio for those superstickers. Okay, she
- 40:06actually do we know anything about She has a gong? Yes, wow,
- 40:10she has a gong. Sometime, you know what, we should bring her
- 40:15on so I could do like the Gong Show whenever my guests are just out
- 40:17of control. How about that. I'm gonna start doing that, the girl
- 40:23in her gong, I'm bringing you on. Okay, we're gonna we're gonna
- 40:25put you under contract over here. That's funny. I love it. Okay,
- 40:31so so not going again, not going with the norms, right.
- 40:36That reminds me of another legend of the troop Herd Corridor, the area that
- 40:40my team researches. Okay where we I was just out there last weekend doing
- 40:45big foot field research run. Okay, I was down there and one of
- 40:50the most famous fortune tellers out of the South. Her name was Mehley Lancaster.
- 40:54That it is, well, she she's followed me around my entire life.
- 41:00Is that her right there? That is her? Wow? Absolutely?
- 41:06She was actually the first woman lawyer in Georgia. That's impressible. The first
- 41:09woman, the first woman attorney. Okay, and she's still alive. Oh
- 41:15lord, no, she passed me in nineteen fifty five. I thought you
- 41:17said you were with her. She's followed me around my entire life. Okay,
- 41:22I see, I'm sorry. Okay, you're talking about supernaturally. Okay,
- 41:25we're on the same page now, Okay, great, Oh yeah,
- 41:29you know there's a good story behind this one. Absolutely, Okay, thank
- 41:34you girl and her gong again. Okay, So Mahley, I have I
- 41:38have stories about it. She was a very famous force to teller and people
- 41:42would come. She was very eccentric. She was not only super she's smart,
- 41:49very educated, high society kind of woman, but she was an oracle.
- 41:52They called her the Oracle of the Ages. Okay. Wow and uh.
- 41:57And for people who have followed me for a long time, from the
- 41:59very beginning, and by a long time, I mean like the past year
- 42:01and a half two years since I've been public. My YouTube channel used to
- 42:07be the Oracle of the South, Okay. And I got my inspiration from
- 42:12Mahley Lancaster, who was the Oracle of the Ages Okay. And she made
- 42:16a fortune telling fortunes literally. She had a glass eye that she kept in
- 42:22a tobacco sack in her pocket. This was her in her older days.
- 42:27She was featured on TV shows and movies. June Carter Cash played her in
- 42:32What was That Murdering Koweda County? Okay, that's in the truth order.
- 42:37A lot of weird stuff went on down there, Okay. But this woman,
- 42:40Okay. The correlation that I'm making here is Mahley Lancaster. When I
- 42:46was in high school, something that people would do for fun would be to
- 42:52drive out to Koweda County or Herd County and go to her grave and desecrate
- 42:59it on the weekends. Okay, they would. They would, they would
- 43:04urinate on it, they would do horrible things. They would drive around the
- 43:07cemetery several times and then their cars would break down, okay, like misfortune
- 43:13would come to people. And so it made me upset because this woman was
- 43:16called a she was called a witch. Now I knew her story, and
- 43:21the people in high school only knew of her being a witch, so they
- 43:24were justified and going out there to hurt her right in their minds. So
- 43:30what did I do? I was in mass media. I made a I
- 43:35made a broadcast. I made a video that broadcasted all over the school.
- 43:38Me and my friends in my class, and we drove out to her grave
- 43:44one day with my grandmother of all people, okay, and we filmed and
- 43:50we told her story, okay, in hopes that that would teach people that
- 43:52it's not okay to go desecrate this poor woman's grave, okay, which is
- 43:58the same same story I know about this poor woman, this this emmy lady.
- 44:02Her grave is the same people go out there and desecrate her grave,
- 44:07just like they did Haley Lancaster's grave, okay, And it's it's just a
- 44:12sign because they see her as a werewolf, you know, and we have
- 44:15Mahley Lancaster as a witch. Uh. And these are these are very these
- 44:20are two very similar stories. But one's a witch and one's a I mean,
- 44:23excuse me, a werewolf, right right right, And it just seems
- 44:28very historical, It seems very some's cookie cutter kind of information here, because
- 44:32this happens all over the country, right right right now? Do you know
- 44:37what religions they were? By chance, this of the birth tombs in there
- 44:42looked rather interested you ever to know what the religions were? From what I
- 44:45understand, I would say Christian, both of them. Yeah, But you
- 44:47don't know if they were like Catholic or anything like that, because I do
- 44:52know that some places are predominantly predominantly Protestant. Whatever you throw Catholicism in there,
- 44:58they often see that as super dishes and to kind of really drive the
- 45:01now home, they will cast these people as as evil incarnate. Oh well,
- 45:10I well, okay, I know that Haley Lancaster went to church every
- 45:15Sunday, and she was she was well known in her church. She also
- 45:19had all her dogs okay, like she she had it. She was so
- 45:22eccentric. Her dogs would follow her. She'd walk to church. All her
- 45:25dogs would follow her and walk in. I think they'd go inside the church
- 45:29and sit by the pew with her. Wow wow church. Yeah, on
- 45:31Sundays, her and her sister Sally. Yeah. Yeah, Baptist Baptist.
- 45:42Yeah, that's I think that's acceptable. She's well, she's buried at Caney
- 45:47Branch Baptist Church. I do believe it's a Baptist church. That doesn't explain
- 45:52a lot from my theory. But yeah, But what I was going to
- 45:55say is do you still have that video? A couple of people on her
- 45:59want to see it. I would like to see that as well, too.
- 46:00Sometime you should play that because I would like to see that would be
- 46:06awesome. Muted, muted, muted, all right, I had to coffe,
- 46:12y'all. I'm sorry. Okay, So I have that tape. It's
- 46:15on a tape, Okay, because I graduated from high school in the nineteen
- 46:17nineties. Okay, you don't tell anybody, and it's and it's on VHS
- 46:23tape. So if I can figure out how to convert it onto something other
- 46:28like I'll air, I would I'd love to see it. Myself. Yeah,
- 46:30man, I thought you didn't think that Walmart and they would take care
- 46:34of that. Walmart, of course, Walmart of all places, right or
- 46:38Walgreens, that's right. Oh, my goodness, the fun we have on
- 46:45the show, Jessica. We do have fun when we make like some really
- 46:47cool connections here. And uh and if I if I had not been told
- 46:52the story from my friend Bryce from Esoteric Atlanta. Shout out to Bryce,
- 46:57I wouldn't have even known about this where Wolf and Joy death. That's right,
- 47:00and that would be the first show that we would do in our paranormal
- 47:02archeology. Whoever's listening out there in Hollywood, please make it happen. Okay,
- 47:07Ron. So I've been asked at least twice in the past month,
- 47:12well, what I would do with a large sum of money to do a
- 47:15show or a documentary by some pretty pretty good people that might that Mike could
- 47:21get it funded. Okay, So you and I need to talk, all
- 47:24right, I'm just saying it to talk, just traveling the world hunting down
- 47:29mysteries. You know what, man, I take you along with me.
- 47:30I tell you what. You're a good guy, have a lot of knowledge.
- 47:34I would also make you tea on the way, and you would never
- 47:36have a source work. You know. I got my cough drops, thank
- 47:39goodness, so I'm a little better. Yeah, that's right. But no,
- 47:45so iron iron Doggers that's what is I thought it was iron dagger.
- 47:50Nope, it says dog iron. Yeah. Yeah. The Double One down
- 47:52to Georgia. That's the other thing. That's awesome as well too. I
- 47:55think upon where you are geographically the country, there are different tells. That's
- 48:02like, the Double One down to New York doesn't make the same kind of
- 48:07impact as if he goes down to Georgia, right, or the Double One
- 48:09down to California. You know. But so it's interesting too to look at
- 48:13these folk tales from geographical areas as well. Yeah that's right. Oh my
- 48:20gosh, the dog man you came in you are hilarious. Yes, VHS
- 48:23stone Age, that's right, the stone Age of the nineties, that's right.
- 48:28Absolutely. Yeah. I can't convert it. Okay, well, everybody,
- 48:31anybody who knows how I can convert it, y'all, just send me
- 48:35a link, tell me where to go. But uh, yeah, I
- 48:39have a lot of gems from my high school days. But anyways, yeah,
- 48:45I mean we have modern day vampires too, right, Ron, we
- 48:50have modern day vampires. When you mentioned Kentucky vampires to me before we did
- 48:54the show today, I just typed into a search engine. I typed into
- 48:59Kentucky vampires, and I came up. The information that came up was about
- 49:02a vampire cult of teenagers from the nineteen nineties. Speaking of the nineteen nineties.
- 49:09Who I guess they were unliving people and stuff, but they were drinking
- 49:14each other's blood. And I mean, there were a serious vampire cult,
- 49:17and that the head of it. Let's see if I have a picture here,
- 49:22let's see. The head of it was this fellow right here. Let's
- 49:24see if it'll come up on the screen. Let's see. Here we go.
- 49:31Yeah, this guy, he said that he was an immortal, an
- 49:37immortal vampire. And let me see his name. I got it right here.
- 49:42Okay, let me get my fact straight. He was his name's Rod
- 49:46Ferrell, and he claimed to be a five hundred year old vampire named Visago.
- 49:53Yeah, and he was immortal. Absolutely. So he's in prison right
- 49:59now, by the way. Yeah, I hope he's not immortal because he'll
- 50:00be in there forever. Then, you know, that's a long sentence.
- 50:05That's right. So he killed some people, right, he did, he
- 50:09killed he killed a couple of people right here. Yeah, some parents of
- 50:15his friends. Yeah. So yeah, and this and somebody again your your
- 50:21audience is the best in the world. Uh. Somebody had mentioned earlier about
- 50:24this satanic panic that was going on. Do you remember that as well too?
- 50:30I do, yes, So what was going on that Nearly everything that
- 50:36was happening that was criminally motivated for some reason was part of the satanic panic.
- 50:42The music that you listen to, what you watched on TV, what
- 50:45you read in books. Right. So a lot of young people who wouldn't
- 50:49naturally uh follow this kind of stuff now became what people were fearing. You
- 50:55know, they're usually people that were ostracized or picked on. That we were
- 50:59talking about the people that were being bullied, and these were the people that
- 51:02were being bullied, and now they would take on the mantle of satanism and
- 51:07cults because there they could find some sort of identity that didn't make them the
- 51:15low band on the totem pole. Right. So a lot of times they
- 51:17were going around doing things in the name of the devil, or were vampires
- 51:22or anything like that, and I think that's a lot that was going on.
- 51:28But right now you still see crimes that are committed in the name of
- 51:31not only Satan, but also in the name of them being vampires or what
- 51:35have you. And still there's on right right, right, right. But
- 51:42like I said, you know, you could go right now to New Orleans,
- 51:45New York City, Tokyo and you could go to a vampire club right
- 51:50now. Salem, Massachusetts, whenever I was there over the summertime, they
- 51:54have a lot of vampire things up there as well too. It's it's really
- 51:59kind of cool. There's a lot of people that identify as vampires. So
- 52:04there are hard yeah, there's there's cannibals, there's all sorts of blood,
- 52:08blood drinkers and blood suckers and stuff. Yeah, and that's been going on
- 52:13since the beginning of time, right, Because, as we've talked about before,
- 52:16we do not want to admit that human beings are capable of inhuman acts.
- 52:23So to help us feel better, we will say that that is no
- 52:29ordinary human They are possessed. They are caught up in something to make them
- 52:37more heinous than they actually are. Right, So we take that human being
- 52:42and we throw a mask on them, whether it be a vampire or whether
- 52:45it be you know, a witch or or a werewolf or whatever, because
- 52:50that makes us feel better about ourselves. But at the end of the day,
- 52:53it's still us doing these crimes and they're just calling themselves, uh,
- 52:59these beasts. Yeah, or or as my friend Bryce and I were talking
- 53:04about, we we've actually been accused of being witches, okay, And that's
- 53:08that's something that people will resort to calling someone who they don't like, okay,
- 53:15so that other people will gang up on them and attack, you know,
- 53:19because oh, that's a witch, just like with the Salem witch trials.
- 53:22Right, That's right. There's something very scary about a woman that has
- 53:31power and a patriarchal society, society, especially in a pure tanical society.
- 53:37Right. Uh So that is really the basis of witches. Right. And
- 53:44I just wrote a book a couple of years ago too on witches as well,
- 53:46so if anybody wants to check that out Amazon. It's also available at
- 53:51Walmart, which I find very weird as well. But okay, so getting
- 53:53back to that'st everybody shops at Walmart mPire, but by the time the money
- 54:01comes back to me, Walmart is taking their pretty fair share of that,
- 54:06you understand, right, So my vampire book and my Witch book are both
- 54:09available at Walmart. Yeah, but which is and that was the thing is
- 54:15that that women, even in the biblical times, right, one of the
- 54:19reasons why it says suffer no witch to live, Right, that's that's one
- 54:22of the things, uh in Leviticus or Deuteronomy, one of those things that
- 54:25really wate to kill people. I know, I saw that too. I'm
- 54:29laughing to it, and uh saw that, but we saw it, that's
- 54:36right. It's a little Yeah, I actually was was laughing as well too.
- 54:39But yeah, one of the reasons why we're afraid of women is because
- 54:43is it possible that they could have power that men do not have. So
- 54:46that's that's one of the reasons to fear a witch. And uh, if
- 54:50somebody is doing something that you don't like, it's a lot easier to eliminate
- 54:53them by saying they are a witch. That's right, That's right. So
- 54:58hey, being called all the witch is a compliment at this point, honestly,
- 55:01because I don't care. I don't care. I'm not a witch.
- 55:06I mean to some people, I probably am a witch because I do have
- 55:09my I do utilize my psychic abilities, but little does everyone else know we
- 55:14all have psychic abilities. Okay, so if that labels me a witch,
- 55:19and so be it. Sorry, I don't see anything wrong with the idea
- 55:28of witchcraft in and of itself any well, witches in and of themselves.
- 55:31Witchcraft is a little bit because that usually involves some sort of interaction with the
- 55:36double. But being a witch and being just in essence that you are a
- 55:40follower of the natural way, I mean, I don't see anything intrinsically wrong
- 55:45with that. Yeah, exactly, live and let live, y'allbody's that way.
- 55:52Unless somebody turns me into a frog or something like that. I'm pretty
- 55:55cool with whatever you do. Oh my gosh, man, I've kissed a
- 55:59lot of frogs in my lifetime. I don't know. I'm just saying,
- 56:01I know, yeah, but bad joke. I know. We got some
- 56:06good jokes in the chat tonight, though. I'm enjoying this so I can't
- 56:10put them all up on the screen, but they're good. Absolutely. Yeah.
- 56:16Oh my gosh, Well, Ron, we have come to the end
- 56:19of the hour. No way, that's impossible. It went by so fast,
- 56:22I have we have so much more things we could talk about tonight.
- 56:25Well, next time it should be witches all day or giants which is giants
- 56:30whatever. Well, we'll cover something, but please come back. Will you
- 56:34promise me you'll come back whenever you are ready? Pick up the phone.
- 56:37I'm always home. Okay, call me like Blondie used to say. Okay,
- 56:44yeah, okay, perfect, Oh my gosh, Curdiville. What's that?
- 56:47Crideville? Okay, ron tell everybody you've already said they can find your
- 56:52books. Can people get in touch with you anyways? Do you have a
- 56:54YouTube channel or your website? What you got really good at self promotion?
- 57:00Nor do I have any of those technological things that people can usually get.
- 57:04So you can write to me on on on on on the email right,
- 57:08So it's Ronald L. Murphy Jr. At Yahoo dot com. Right,
- 57:14you could go to the Facebook thing that all the kids are using nowadays and
- 57:16look up Ronald Murphy and you can find me there as well too. You
