New Hanover County is rolling out a major teacher pay boost—with starting salaries jumping 17% to $48,000, plus a 7.8% average raise for all teachers and instructional staff. Assistant principals get the same bump, while principals and other district workers see a 3% increase. On top of that, one-time bonuses are coming October 31, 2026: nutrition and custodial staff get $1,750, certified staff and assistant principals receive service-based bonuses, and others get salary-tiered payouts.
