Lucas: Three useful nouns you'll see at any park in Spanish: la fuente, el banco, and la papelera. Luna: La fuente, el banco, la papelera. Say them slowly? Lucas: Sure. La fuente. That's the fountain. La fuente. Repeat that. Luna: La fuente. Lucas: Excellent. Next, el banco. That's the bench. El banco. Luna: El banco. Lucas: Perfect. And la papelera. The trash can. La papelera. Luna: La papelera. That one sounds like 'paper' in it. Lucas: That's right. Papel is paper, so papelera is where paper goes. Now let's put them in sentences. La fuente es grande. Luna: The fountain is big. La fuente es grande. Lucas: Good. El banco es cómodo. Luna: The bench is comfortable. El banco es cómodo. Lucas: Yes. And la papelera está vacía. Luna: The trash can is empty. La papelera está vacía. Lucas: Now imagine a little scene at the park. You're sitting on el banco, looking at la fuente, and you notice la papelera is full. Luna: Okay. Estoy sentada en el banco, veo la fuente, y la papelera está llena. Lucas: Great use of llena. So, let's practice the three words again. La fuente. Luna: La fuente. Lucas: El banco. Luna: El banco. Lucas: La papelera. Luna: La papelera. Lucas: Now you try a sentence: the fountain is beautiful. Luna: La fuente es hermosa. Lucas: Yeah! Hermosa. What about 'the bench is old'?
