- 0:30It's Monday again, Hotter Life Nation. It's Kelly Siegel. This is The Hard Reset. Today, we're cutting through one of the biggest myths, the lies in our culture, that being busy, having this full schedule, I'm so busy, means you're productive. Spoiler alert. It doesn't. First things first, needle-moving tasks, revenue-generating activities. Those are,
- 1:00are what makes you productive. But let's talk the truth and deep dive into this. Most people are addicted to busy. I just can't. I'm so busy. Their schedule is packed. Their calendar looks like a war zone. And they think they're cool. They wear it like a badge of honor. And they're busy doing nothing. Because what have they actually accomplished? You heard it. Crickets. Crickets.
- 1:27Next to nothing. I've been there. Being busy and productive are not the same thing. Busy is motion. Productivity is progress. I always equate it to running on a treadmill or running to the gym. One gets you somewhere, one just burns calories. You can answer emails for eight hours straight and feel busy, but did you actually move the needle on your goals? Probably not.
- 1:56That's why you hear me over and over again telling you, never, ever, ever check your own emails. Have an assistant. AI can even do it now. Sorry, I digress, but it is a great point. Email is taking somebody else's monkeys and putting them in your inbox. People can sit there and go to email and feel busy. I used to look at it and cringe because I knew I wasn't getting anything done. Anyways, it's the same with fitness. You can spend two hours at the gym,
- 2:27But if you're texting between sets, wandering around, talking to people, doing half reps, you aren't productive.
- 2:38You were just busy in workout clothes and saying, hey, I was at the gym. I've seen many people like that. I got a gym membership. I go three times a week. I watched a dude the other day literally come into the gym, walk on the treadmill and be on his phone the entire time, never break a sweat and leave. And probably went to a meeting and he said, I worked out today. Needless to say that person was not fit. The illusion of progress is dangerous.
- 3:06because it tricks your mind into thinking you're winning, that you're actually doing something. You are, but results matter in this world. You're just running in place and fooling yourself. So here's your reset. Don't measure your day by how busy you felt.
- 3:26how full your calendar is, the lack of white space in it. Measure it by the two or three things you actually got done that matter. Remember, you don't have to get 30 things. It's impossible. Two or three. I literally never go over five because you just can't. It's impossible. Productivity isn't about volume.
- 3:49It's about impact. It's about needle moving tasks and revenue generating activities. What puts money in your pocket? What makes you closer to your goal? To your hard reset this week, stop bragging about being so busy and start focusing on being effective and getting things done.
- 4:12When your head hits the pillow tonight, don't ask, was I busy? Which you wouldn't. Ask, did I move forward? What did I accomplish today? And what am I going to accomplish tomorrow? That's the only scoreboard that matters. And also throw in a little gratitude. Tomorrow, I'll be sitting down with truth teller, Steve Gruber, to expose corruption, fatherlessness, and the collapse of common sense in America. This thing gets off the ground.
- 4:42We go off the path quick. This is a must. Listen, you guys are going to love it. And it is going to be an instant classic, instant share. So thanks for tuning in. And then as always Thursday, one-on-ones with me and you, we discuss how trauma.
- 5:00become your greatest teacher because it is. On the other side of the thing that you fear is your greatest teacher. It's your greatest breakthrough. You can't heal what you don't face. Feeling is healing. And as I've said before, the mirror is your greatest weapon to better your life.
