• 1:11
Speaker 1: is beautiful? It's beautiful here, It's beautiful.
• 1:14
Speaker 2: It says spring day.
• 1:16
Speaker 1: There's no snow, but everyone's still talking about the snow.
• 1:20
Speaker 1: But the snow was gone. I did a lot of
• 1:22
Speaker 1: press yesterday. We're talking about my dating app. That's not
• 1:25
Speaker 1: a dating app. It's just on my Instagram, but people
• 1:28
Speaker 1: are calling it a dating app and it.
• 1:31
Speaker 3: Was your socials team prepared for.
• 1:33
Speaker 1: This, No, they're never prepared for anything I do. I
• 1:36
Speaker 1: wasn't even prepared for it. I didn't realize how many
• 1:37
Speaker 1: dms were going to come through, and you know, that's
• 1:39
Speaker 1: just me never thinking things through. But I really do
• 1:42
Speaker 1: want to let my people know, the people who are
• 1:45
Speaker 1: listening to this podcast I am. I really do want
• 1:47
Speaker 1: to help people meet each other. And I do want
• 1:49
Speaker 1: to find like cool men for women to hook up with,
• 1:51
Speaker 1: because I do believe they're out there and many of
• 1:53
Speaker 1: them are getting divorced or have gotten divorced. So there
• 1:56
Speaker 1: are good men out there and some of them, you know,
• 1:58
Speaker 1: But like, we have to through all of this. So
• 2:01
Speaker 1: I'll be getting updates right and I'll be giving updates
• 2:03
Speaker 1: I'm not. We're doing it. It's on so like it's happening.
• 2:07
Speaker 1: I just need a bigger team of people and I'm
• 2:10
Speaker 1: more of a bandwidth. But I have hooked up like
• 2:12
Speaker 1: two gay guys. I've hooked up two separate gay guys,
• 2:16
Speaker 1: and a straight couple have gone on a date.
• 2:18
Speaker 3: I mean, you're a regular grinder over here.
• 2:20
Speaker 1: So this is happening. It's working. It's just we haven't
• 2:24
Speaker 1: figured out what the next you know, formal iteration of
• 2:27
Speaker 1: my dating service is going to be. And I don't
• 2:30
Speaker 1: even want to call it a dating service because I
• 2:31
Speaker 1: can't commit to doing this, but I am going to
• 2:34
Speaker 1: try and help anyway. That's what's happening in New York.
• 2:36
Speaker 1: I'm leaving tomorrow. I have new shows that I'm doing.
• 2:40
Speaker 1: I've just announced a whole new batch of shows for
• 2:42
Speaker 1: the second leg of my High and Mighty tour, and
• 2:45
Speaker 1: I've added second shows, and I am coming to all
• 2:48
Speaker 1: the cities that I haven't been to yet that you
• 2:49
Speaker 1: haven't seen, So go to Chelseaandler dot com. I'll be
• 2:52
Speaker 1: in New York, Atlanta, blah blahlah of Vancouver, tons of places.
• 2:56
Speaker 1: We just announced it. So I'll be performing and touring
• 2:59
Speaker 1: through the end of the year, So come and see
• 3:01
Speaker 1: me and go to Chelseahandler dot com for your tickets
• 3:04
Speaker 1: for the High and Mighty tour. And then our guest
• 3:06
Speaker 1: this week is very exciting. Who you know what? She
• 3:09
Speaker 1: was real fucking funny and I didn't know she was
• 3:12
Speaker 1: gonna be funny so funny. I was really not expecting
• 3:14
Speaker 1: that neither. So you guys are in for a real treat.
• 3:17
Speaker 1: She's an actress that you know from Daisy Jones and
• 3:20
Speaker 1: The Six and The Night Manager. You can find her
• 3:22
Speaker 1: in Netflix's Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen and
• 3:26
Speaker 1: The Age of Innocence. Please welcome Camilla Morone. Okay, great,
• 3:31
  Speaker 1: let's go.
• 3:32
Speaker 2: I see that you wear shoes on your couch.
• 3:33
Speaker 1: I don't give a shit what you put on my
• 3:35
  Speaker 1: to your.
• 3:36
Speaker 2: House, and I was like, should I take my shoes off?
• 3:37
Speaker 2: From such a New Yorker? I'm like, do I take
• 3:38
Speaker 2: my shoes off? What do I do?
• 3:40
Speaker 1: Is that in New York?
• 3:41
  Speaker 4: Well?
• 3:41
Speaker 1: New York is yeah, you go like a dead body
• 3:43
Speaker 1: on the bottom of your true lie. I honestly don't
• 3:45
Speaker 1: like when I think about moving to New York, which
• 3:46
Speaker 1: at some point I will do because I have to
• 3:48
Speaker 1: live in New York at some point. That's just hard. No,
• 3:50
Speaker 1: And I'm from New Jersey.
• 3:51
Speaker 2: Well now it's my fit. Not like my favorite pastime
• 3:53
Speaker 2: is like converting people. I've made it at nine, Like
• 3:57
Speaker 2: my number is crazy. I'm like really good at getting
• 3:59
Speaker 2: people move to New York. Really and I find it
• 4:01
Speaker 2: like like a weird test.
• 4:02
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, no, it is a good you want
• 4:03
Speaker 1: to be you want.
• 4:04
Speaker 2: To live here? What? What?
• 4:06
  Speaker 4: What?
• 4:06
Speaker 1: How long have you lived in New York?
• 4:07
  Speaker 4: Now?
• 4:08
Speaker 2: I live in New York for three years? But I
• 4:09
Speaker 2: act as if I like built the city with my hand.
• 4:12
Speaker 2: I'm like the Brooklyn Bridge, I did it.
• 4:15
Speaker 1: Okay, So what prompted you to move to New York?
• 4:16
Speaker 1: Because you're from La, you grew up here, You're already raised.
• 4:19
Speaker 2: My man went to school in Santa Monica. I went
• 4:20
Speaker 2: to school in the Valley. I went to school all over.
• 4:23
Speaker 2: I went to Beverly Hills. So I had divorce parents
• 4:25
Speaker 2: that were fighting about, you know, where to live. So
• 4:26
Speaker 2: I have lived everywhere. But then I just felt like
• 4:29
Speaker 2: post pandemic. I thought it. You know, things changed obviously
• 4:33
Speaker 2: in LA, and I just thought I wanted to do
• 4:35
Speaker 2: something that I just wanted to like wake up and
• 4:39
Speaker 2: go to the theater if I wanted to, which I
• 4:41
Speaker 2: don't ever do, but I could do it.
• 4:42
Speaker 1: It's not usually yeah, usually in the morning.
• 4:46
Speaker 2: So New York is crazy or I'm sure there is
• 4:49
Speaker 2: some bit. I got a little bit, you know, bord
• 4:53
Speaker 2: of LA, and I didn't want to be in the
• 4:54
Speaker 2: car for so long, and I just was like, I
• 4:56
Speaker 2: want to maybe go for a walk. If I want
• 4:57
  Speaker 2: to go for I haven't. I didn't recreationally walk in
• 5:00
Speaker 2: LA in twenty five years. I don't think I ever
• 5:02
Speaker 2: went for like a walk. Do you walk? No?
• 5:04
  Speaker 1: No, I don't walk here. I don't. I don't do
• 5:05
Speaker 1: anything here because I feel I'm with you on the
• 5:08
Speaker 1: LA thing, Like I was going to move to New
• 5:09
Speaker 1: York and then this house kind of took longer than
• 5:12
Speaker 1: I anticipated, and so I kind of put a pin
• 5:14
Speaker 1: in it. But I'm with you about La as a
• 5:16
Speaker 1: little as uh it's a little boring.
• 5:19
Speaker 2: Well everything closes like nine pm. Like what if you
• 5:21
Speaker 2: want to go to Koreatown at eleven thirty? Like I
• 5:24
Speaker 2: don't do any of it, but I know that it's there,
• 5:26
Speaker 2: so like I have the option. Yeah, right, I only
• 5:28
Speaker 2: found myself being more fun in New York. I'll like
• 5:30
Speaker 2: go to the comedy cellar on a random Tuesday night
• 5:33
Speaker 2: when I can get in and all that. Yeah, that's
• 5:35
Speaker 2: like fun for me.
• 5:36
Speaker 3: Are you a subway person?
• 5:37
  Speaker 2: Like? I take the train everywhere. I mean, I don't
• 5:38
Speaker 2: think you. I mean I get really sick in the
• 5:40
Speaker 2: back of like ubers, and I hate being schlept and
• 5:42
Speaker 2: I hate small talk. I hate I hate under like
• 5:45
Speaker 2: the person that all the uber jars are like. I'm like,
• 5:47
Speaker 2: how are you even like? Well, actually, my wife left me.
• 5:51
Speaker 2: She's been sitting with my my best friend for thirty
• 5:54
Speaker 2: five years, and I found out yesterday. And I'm in
• 5:55
Speaker 2: the back like being shoved around Manhattan like a bound
• 5:58
Speaker 2: to throw up in the back of a car. So
• 5:59
Speaker 2: the train, yeah great.
• 6:00
Speaker 1: I don't like underground transportation. There's something about that smell
• 6:03
Speaker 1: that I can't get past. I'm very sensitive.
• 6:06
Speaker 2: Trains are very clean.
• 6:07
Speaker 1: Okay, Well, I believe you, but I probably won't find
• 6:08
  Speaker 1: out about it.
• 6:09
Speaker 2: I don't think you need to. You can sell this
• 6:11
Speaker 2: house and never take a train again.
• 6:14
Speaker 1: Or take trains for the rest of my life, depending
• 6:16
Speaker 1: on how that goes. Wait, first of all, I can't
• 6:19
Speaker 1: step looking at your eyebrows because they are so perfectly quaffed,
• 6:22
Speaker 1: if you will, And do you use anything for your eyebrows?
• 6:25
Speaker 1: Because my makeup artistated to me yesterday and I had
• 6:27
Speaker 1: an eye I had never had. They were sticking up
• 6:30
Speaker 1: kind of like yours and combed.
• 6:32
Speaker 2: And well loved it. I've actually never the one thing
• 6:34
Speaker 2: that I listened to my mother too. Things she was like,
• 6:36
Speaker 2: don't ever get a tattoo because she's had to get
• 6:38
Speaker 2: all her fergers removed, her transcamp removed. And then she
• 6:41
Speaker 2: was like, don't ever touch your eyebrows. And when I
• 6:43
Speaker 2: was a teenager, you know, like it was like cool
• 6:45
Speaker 2: to do the nineties brow and it's the only thing
• 6:47
Speaker 2: that I actually listened to her that. Now I'm like
• 6:49
Speaker 2: kind of grateful that I didn't do. But I've never
• 6:50
Speaker 2: touched them. I've never waxed or done anything.
• 6:53
Speaker 1: So what do you do to bruss them like that?
• 6:55
Speaker 2: I just yeah, I brush them.
• 6:56
Speaker 1: They look good. They look really good.
• 6:58
Speaker 2: You know, I have to embrace it.
• 7:00
Speaker 1: You're Argentine, right, And that's a prop way to say Argentinian.
• 7:03
Speaker 2: I argely don't know Argentinian Argentine.
• 7:05
Speaker 1: I was told it was Argentine, but I would say,
• 7:07
Speaker 1: I mean, you should find out I'm Argentinian. I'll ask okay, yeah, yeah, please,
• 7:10
Speaker 1: I say it correctly. Well, especially if you're not from there.
• 7:13
Speaker 1: I want to pay with like the right amount of respect.
• 7:15
Speaker 2: Argentine or Argentinian has to be politically correct.
• 7:17
Speaker 1: You speak Spanish, yes, yeah, okay, And both of your
• 7:20
  Speaker 1: parents are Argentinian.
• 7:21
Speaker 2: Or Argentine or Argentech's I don't know there. My mom
• 7:25
Speaker 2: and dad are. It's actually a funny story. They're both
• 7:27
Speaker 2: from Winnoes Aireis and Argentina, and they met at a
• 7:30
Speaker 2: club called Tequila that is still a club. And my
• 7:33
Speaker 2: mom was nineteen and her family were like all lawyers
• 7:36
Speaker 2: and politicians and worked for the president. My dad was
• 7:38
Speaker 2: a twenty seven year old male supermodel named Maximo Moron,
• 7:41
Speaker 2: and she was like, I'm going to move to parents
• 7:44
Speaker 2: with Maximon. We're going to make love and have babies.
• 7:47
Speaker 2: And then like very shortly after, they very much did
• 7:50
Speaker 2: make love and have a baby, and I'm that baby
• 7:52
Speaker 2: and you're that baby. That's the only way they ever had.
• 7:55
Speaker 2: And then what happened, I mean, what do you think happened?
• 7:58
Speaker 2: I have a cloud gone Tequila and there was a
• 8:01
Speaker 2: divorce about seven years after because of which is who
• 8:05
Speaker 2: knows what was part of that divorce.
• 8:07
Speaker 1: So you bounced around a lot between your mom and
• 8:10
Speaker 1: your dad in Los Angeles? And how was that?
• 8:13
Speaker 2: Oh? I mean I hated it. Like I had to
• 8:15
Speaker 2: pack a little doggie bag every week and like bring
• 8:17
Speaker 2: all my schoolwork and all my you know, like my
• 8:19
Speaker 2: makeup that my mom would let me use. My dad
• 8:21
Speaker 2: wouldn't let me. I mean, just like typical child of
• 8:23
Speaker 2: divorce parents stuff. But I got to live all over LA.
• 8:25
Speaker 2: I mean they were like my dad was like I
• 8:27
Speaker 2: want to surf in Santa Monica. My mom's like I
• 8:28
Speaker 2: live in the valley. So like the only person that
• 8:30
Speaker 2: gets like fucked in that one in the car, I
• 8:34
Speaker 2: was like, I don't want to sit on a freeway
• 8:35
Speaker 2: ever again. But this freeway that we actually just passed
• 8:38
Speaker 2: me here, that was my freeway. I know that freeway
• 8:41
Speaker 2: very well. Were you triggered, Yeah, call my therapist immediately.
• 8:44
  Speaker 2: What are there?
• 8:45
Speaker 1: But aren't there some advantages to having divorced parents, Like
• 8:47
Speaker 1: can't you play them off of each other and kind
• 8:50
Speaker 1: of use that to your advantage in some regard, not.
• 8:52
Speaker 2: In the slightest, because they talk about everything. That's the
• 8:55
Speaker 2: worst part about having parents who like got along after
• 8:57
Speaker 2: their divorce or like sometimes got along because my mom
• 9:00
Speaker 2: would like fact check, like is it true that she
• 9:02
Speaker 2: said that you can do this and like at your
• 9:04
Speaker 2: house and whatnot. So no, no, okay, there was no advantage.
• 9:07
Speaker 1: There was no advantage.
• 9:07
Speaker 2: Maybe like crying easier in a movie set when I
• 9:10
Speaker 2: like have to think about my trauma. But that's pretty
• 9:12
  Speaker 2: much it.
• 9:13
Speaker 1: And what about growing up in Los Angeles? How did
• 9:15
Speaker 1: that inform your life? And I mean you you dropped
• 9:18
Speaker 1: out of school high school at fifteen, right.
• 9:20
Speaker 2: I mean I went to independent Studies. I got my
• 9:22
Speaker 2: ged and I studied at like independent studies, which was
• 9:25
Speaker 2: basically my way out of being like I'm a working actor.
• 9:28
Speaker 2: I was not a working actor yet, but I was
• 9:29
Speaker 2: modeling then, and I got to do like home study
• 9:32
Speaker 2: where you like bring your work to school, you kind
• 9:34
Speaker 2: of google the answers and then you like send it
• 9:36
Speaker 2: back and I still got to graduate with my class
• 9:38
Speaker 2: and like throw my cap and gown and all that.
• 9:41
Speaker 2: But I mean growing up in LA I mean, I
• 9:44
Speaker 2: guess you don't realize. Like last night, I was driving
• 9:46
Speaker 2: through Beverly Hills and I was showing someone. I was like,
• 9:49
Speaker 2: oh my god, that was like my Riote Aid and
• 9:50
Speaker 2: that was my Mulberry's pizza and that was my Chipotle.
• 9:52
Speaker 2: He's like, that's insane. That Beverly Hills was like your Chipotle,
• 9:56
Speaker 2: your Chipotle and your pizza shop. Like that's not normal local. Yeah,
• 10:00
Speaker 2: that's insane. Even when I call Verizon and I'm like
• 10:02
Speaker 2: giving them my zip code, they're like nine o two,
• 10:04
Speaker 2: like the show, Like it doesn't feel like that when
• 10:07
Speaker 2: you're from here, but like, I guess it really was
• 10:09
Speaker 2: that to the rest of the world.
• 10:10
Speaker 1: I always find that my girlfriends that grew up in
• 10:12
Speaker 1: La have like their frame of reference and their their
• 10:16
Speaker 1: reality is so far afield from what's happening in the
• 10:19
Speaker 1: rest of the world, especially when you grow up in
• 10:22
Speaker 1: a nine o two and zero ericode and you don't leave,
• 10:25
Speaker 1: Like it's so nice to hear that you left, Yeah,
• 10:27
Speaker 1: because you have to have a sense of what's happening
• 10:30
Speaker 1: in the world and it's not here.
• 10:32
Speaker 2: That's like even getting on the subway in New York,
• 10:34
Speaker 2: the train, I think it's like you see like the
• 10:36
Speaker 2: Chikh woman who's from the Uppersia and she's got her
• 10:38
Speaker 2: first code on and then you see somebody else who's
• 10:40
Speaker 2: like an artist from Brooklyn, you can tell them they're
• 10:42
Speaker 2: like making music on the train. I think just like
• 10:44
Speaker 2: people actually need to pay their rent in New York
• 10:46
Speaker 2: in a very serious way because New York is so expensive,
• 10:50
Speaker 2: and I think that you just like have real humans.
• 10:52
Speaker 2: It's I would say the best thing about New York
• 10:54
Speaker 2: is it's less Hollywood concentrated. That's right, Like you don't
• 10:57
Speaker 2: run into an actor or screenwriter, producer even there's nothing
• 11:00
Speaker 2: wrong with those people because I am one of them.
• 11:02
Speaker 1: But there's something wrong with all of those people. I'm
• 11:06
Speaker 1: just you ple on the record, I will.
• 11:10
Speaker 2: Go, yeah, you can translate the word yes, yes, yes, yes.
• 11:14
Speaker 2: But I think that's like it was just a little
• 11:16
Speaker 2: bit of a breather. Not everybody's doing something in the
• 11:19
Speaker 2: industry all the time.
• 11:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, and that is refreshing because you meet different types
• 11:22
Speaker 1: of people and you're like, oh, that's interesting, and it
• 11:24
Speaker 1: kind of peaks your interest to get like to get
• 11:26
Speaker 1: involved in other things that normally, you know, you might
• 11:29
Speaker 1: not be You're not you know. I think the thing
• 11:30
Speaker 1: in La is everyone kind of sticks to their home
• 11:33
Speaker 1: base a lot. Yeah, your neighborhood and you don't get
• 11:36
Speaker 1: out of your comfort zone. Like I just went to
• 11:39
Speaker 1: this thing last night, and it's like I know all
• 11:40
Speaker 1: the people that were there. I'm like, there wasn't a
• 11:42
Speaker 1: new person, you know what I mean. I'm like, I
• 11:44
Speaker 1: never meet anyone new here.
• 11:46
Speaker 3: I heard this thing once that La is a city
• 11:48
Speaker 3: that happens behind closed doors, and I feel like that's
• 11:50
Speaker 3: so true, Like it's a party, or it's at a restaurant,
• 11:53
Speaker 3: or it's it's all inside somewhere.
• 11:54
Speaker 2: But don't you even go to the same like five restaurants.
• 11:56
Speaker 2: And I do feel like living in New York, you
• 11:58
Speaker 2: like push yourself to be a little bit more exploratory
• 12:01
Speaker 2: and go out in trainy things.
• 12:03
Speaker 1: I also think, like for someone my age, is important
• 12:05
Speaker 1: to move to New York because as you get older,
• 12:07
Speaker 1: like you want to be vibrant and like, you know,
• 12:09
Speaker 1: like otherwise, I'll just take a Xanax at seven o'clock
• 12:11
Speaker 1: and go to bed.
• 12:12
Speaker 2: And by the way you do it in New York,
• 12:14
Speaker 2: you can also do People are like when you go
• 12:16
Speaker 2: to New York, you have to be NonStop. I'm like,
• 12:17
Speaker 2: I take a NIX at eight thirty three nights week.
• 12:20
  Speaker 5: I love it.
• 12:22
Speaker 2: Somebody told me right now ten am, guys, I wouldn't know.
• 12:26
Speaker 1: Okay, let's talk about your projects because there are a
• 12:28
Speaker 1: lot of them we have to discuss. First of all,
• 12:30
Speaker 1: you're in The Night Manager too, which is out. Everyone
• 12:32
Speaker 1: can watch that Night Man. It took enough. It's fucking
• 12:35
Speaker 1: time for them to come out with the sequel.
• 12:36
Speaker 2: That it was like a toddler when the first one was.
• 12:40
Speaker 1: But the first one was in Crazy Blay and the
• 12:43
Speaker 1: second one is really really awesome too. So it's great
• 12:47
Speaker 1: because sometimes the second seasons of series do not stack up,
• 12:50
Speaker 1: and this one absolutely does. And that's where I first
• 12:53
Speaker 1: noticed your eyebrows. To be honest with you, I don't
• 12:55
Speaker 1: want to focus so much like Browgate.
• 12:57
  Speaker 4: Yeah, like.
• 13:01
  Speaker 2: Anastasia Brown jail.
• 13:02
Speaker 1: Okay, I mean that's what you used. I mean yesterday.
• 13:05
  Speaker 1: I mean I didn't use it todaybviously.
• 13:07
Speaker 2: Sometimes I think my mom Mom was like I do.
• 13:09
Speaker 2: I went through her phrase. I was like over slacking them,
• 13:11
Speaker 2: like it kind of looks like you've been on like
• 13:12
Speaker 2: a mo ped and just like took took.
• 13:13
Speaker 1: Your looks like there's actually in that.
• 13:16
  Speaker 2: I don't like that.
• 13:17
Speaker 1: I don't Sometimes the jol comes out and then that
• 13:19
  Speaker 1: looks like somebody.
• 13:20
  Speaker 2: I thinted out always I'm a virgin.
• 13:22
Speaker 1: Actually, don't talk to me about the filming. Where did
• 13:25
Speaker 1: you get to go on location for a night?
• 13:28
Speaker 2: So we started in London and then we went to Columbia.
• 13:30
Speaker 2: We did five different cities in Colombia, and then we
• 13:33
Speaker 2: finished in Spain in the Canary Islands.
• 13:35
Speaker 1: And then anything. Oh, and you just got back from
• 13:39
  Speaker 1: Sevilla last night.
• 13:40
  Speaker 2: You got back from Seville. I don't, I don't know.
• 13:42
Speaker 2: That's another one, sa sevil savha. That's my penelope cruise.
• 13:50
Speaker 2: We're going to execute me when I went in Spain
• 13:52
Speaker 2: next time, like shes Yeah. Yeah, we were in Seville
• 13:57
Speaker 2: finishing the Age of Innocence yesterday.
• 13:58
Speaker 1: Okay, so that's another movie, other one, And then you
• 14:01
Speaker 1: have something very bad is going to happen, which is
• 14:04
Speaker 1: this week, which is this week, which is from the
• 14:06
Speaker 1: guys who did Stranger Things. Yeah, okay, this is the
• 14:09
Speaker 1: first thing that they've done out of Stranger Things it
• 14:11
Speaker 1: would like you to produce. Okay, okay, the first thing
• 14:13
Speaker 1: that they've executive produced from Stranger Things. So let's focus
• 14:16
Speaker 1: on one project and talk about that first, which was
• 14:18
Speaker 1: sad to start with.
• 14:19
Speaker 2: My eye let's go back. No, Okay, what do you want?
• 14:22
Speaker 2: What do you want to know?
• 14:23
Speaker 3: I as a horror fan, I love or okay, great,
• 14:27
Speaker 3: I love something very bad. But I also love that
• 14:29
Speaker 3: you got to work with a woman showrunner, right, great showrunner?
• 14:32
Speaker 2: Which is now It's so funny because people bring this
• 14:34
Speaker 2: up in interviews, but I feel like I got into
• 14:36
Speaker 2: the industry at probably a turning point because I've like
• 14:38
Speaker 2: almost exclusively worked with female directors, which is crazy because
• 14:42
Speaker 2: I guess I say it to people and they're like,
• 14:43
Speaker 2: oh my god, that's so rare because of course it's
• 14:45
Speaker 2: not where the industry was ten years ago.
• 14:47
Speaker 1: That is so nice to hear.
• 14:49
Speaker 2: But I the last I mean, the last five things
• 14:51
Speaker 2: I've done have all been even on TV shows like
• 14:53
Speaker 2: Age of Innocence, three female directors, something very about three
• 14:55
Speaker 2: different female directors. I worked for Patri Sharkt on Gonzo Girl.
• 14:58
Speaker 1: Oh God, tell us about Patricia account She's well, she's
• 15:03
Speaker 1: the fucking I will. I'm totally going to reach out
• 15:06
Speaker 1: to her. We need to reach out to her.
• 15:07
  Speaker 2: She's she's a who.
• 15:08
  Speaker 1: She's awesome.
• 15:09
Speaker 2: Yeah, she's also like very like kooky hippie, Like I
• 15:13
Speaker 2: won't talk to Patricia for six months and then she'll
• 15:16
Speaker 2: send me like all these endometriosis like herbal medicines. So
• 15:19
Speaker 2: she found on an Indiana account, like how'd you even
• 15:21
Speaker 2: find this part of the web? Like what are you on?
• 15:23
Speaker 2: Every time I come across some weird Instagram account, Patrica
• 15:26
Speaker 2: Arcuat has liked it, like how to make your house
• 15:29
Speaker 2: feel weird? And it's like and then also my favorite
• 15:33
Speaker 2: part about Patricia, she's the best. She she'll comment on
• 15:37
Speaker 2: people are like, you feel bad about your life? My
• 15:39
Speaker 2: husband did this to me after thirty years and she's like,
• 15:41
Speaker 2: you should have left that man thirty years ago. And
• 15:43
Speaker 2: she'll comment publicly on her account, and then she gets
• 15:46
Speaker 2: a conversation with people on Instagram.
• 15:47
  Speaker 1: I know, I love it. I love that behavior. I
• 15:49
  Speaker 1: like odd behavior.
• 15:50
Speaker 2: And I'm like, did I tell her that? Like everything's
• 15:52
  Speaker 2: public on Instagram?
• 15:53
  Speaker 4: Just kid?
• 15:54
Speaker 1: She gives a shit, you know what I mean? I
• 15:55
Speaker 1: think when you get to a certain age, I'm there,
• 15:57
Speaker 1: you do not care. You're just out there doing your
• 15:59
Speaker 1: thing and you're like, listen, I've already got my shit together,
• 16:02
Speaker 1: Like it's you're not. It's someone like her who is
• 16:04
Speaker 1: like so solid, Like who's that what's somebody going.
• 16:07
  Speaker 2: She's getting involved. I'm like a place I don't want
• 16:10
Speaker 2: to say anything about anyone or anything, hurt anything. And
• 16:13
Speaker 2: then she's just like, what do you want to know?
• 16:15
  Speaker 2: Let's do it.
• 16:15
Speaker 1: So how was she as a director?
• 16:18
  Speaker 2: Oh my god, Patricia's she's hilarious. She's very like, she's
• 16:22
Speaker 2: very kind of energetic and I would say emotional, and
• 16:25
Speaker 2: I think having been an actor, she really doesn't hover
• 16:28
Speaker 2: and so she really kind of lets you find it.
• 16:30
Speaker 2: And I'd even go up to her after takes and
• 16:32
Speaker 2: be such like an anxious people pleaser, and I was like,
• 16:34
Speaker 2: what did you think? Did you like it? She's like, honey,
• 16:36
Speaker 2: everything you do is good, like everything is interesting, and
• 16:39
Speaker 2: just try something else. If you don't feel it, like,
• 16:41
Speaker 2: let's try something else. And I was like, okay, I'm
• 16:45
Speaker 2: like calling my therapist. I'm like being validated feels so good.
• 16:48
Speaker 1: I didn't know this, and well, like, okay, so that's
• 16:52
Speaker 1: one female director. I'm the night manager.
• 16:54
  Speaker 2: You did?
• 16:54
Speaker 1: Did you have female director director? Okay, Georgie? And then
• 16:57
Speaker 1: you got to speak Spanish and English on that and
• 17:00
Speaker 1: have you done that before?
• 17:01
Speaker 2: And no, I haven't. And I also did Colombian, which
• 17:03
  Speaker 2: is super different.
• 17:05
Speaker 1: Yes, because I took my first Spanish last My first
• 17:07
Speaker 1: Spanish maestra was from Colombia, and she was like, that
• 17:11
Speaker 1: is the Spanish, Like the Spanish that you need to
• 17:14
  Speaker 1: learn is Colombian.
• 17:15
  Speaker 3: And I'm like, I just.
• 17:19
  Speaker 2: Feels like there's a neutral.
• 17:21
Speaker 3: Supposedly Spain. Spanish is like the Spanish. But I was like,
• 17:24
Speaker 3: there's way more people who live in South America who
• 17:26
Speaker 3: speak a different kind of Spanish.
• 17:27
Speaker 2: That Spain, and like not understanding there, like.
• 17:34
  Speaker 1: List, I can't.
• 17:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, they use the word a lot, which means to fuck.
• 17:40
Speaker 2: They use it for everything.
• 17:45
Speaker 1: Okay, so that was night Manager, you got to go
• 17:47
Speaker 1: to all these fun places and that was not why
• 17:50
Speaker 1: you were in Sevilla.
• 17:51
Speaker 2: Though, No, that was Age of Innocence.
• 17:52
Speaker 1: Age of Innocence was why you're in Seville. That's not
• 17:55
  Speaker 1: out yet.
• 17:55
Speaker 2: That is not out because I wrapped it yesterday, so okay,
• 17:57
  Speaker 2: this is okay.
• 18:00
Speaker 1: So well so I shot okay, so it doesn't matter.
• 18:04
Speaker 1: I just want to keep track of the fact that
• 18:05
Speaker 1: you have four different projects going. Okay, so people who
• 18:07
Speaker 1: watching this, no, which one were my shotguns?
• 18:10
Speaker 2: A Girl with Patricia Arquette, the story about Hunter s Thompson.
• 18:13
Speaker 2: We love that that was a film, and then we
• 18:14
Speaker 2: did Night Manager in all those amazing countries, and then
• 18:17
Speaker 2: Something Very Bad, which is coming out this week.
• 18:19
Speaker 1: How do you feel about horror films in general?
• 18:21
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh kaes, this is what we're talking about.
• 18:23
  Speaker 2: I actually wasn't a horror fan growing up. Like I
• 18:26
Speaker 2: saw the trailer or a poster for Chucky and I
• 18:28
Speaker 2: didn't sleep for fifteen years. Like I created the story
• 18:31
Speaker 2: of what Chuck he does. I don't even need to
• 18:32
Speaker 2: know the plot line. I was like, it's a little redheaded,
• 18:35
Speaker 2: creepy doll that's like under the bed and stuff, and
• 18:37
Speaker 2: I know he's out to get me. Yeah. And then
• 18:39
Speaker 2: I saw When a Stranger Calls, which destroyed me. Still
• 18:42
Speaker 2: to this day, if I see uknown number on my phone,
• 18:44
Speaker 2: I'm certain of someone the call is coming from inside
• 18:46
Speaker 2: the house. And I was totally traumatized my whole childhood
• 18:50
Speaker 2: and I would like make my dad check the bed
• 18:51
Speaker 2: and all the things. And then when I got a
• 18:54
Speaker 2: little older, and actually for this project, I started watching
• 18:57
Speaker 2: like a wider range of horror films that like weren't
• 18:59
Speaker 2: meant to like traumatize you for life, and I fall
• 19:03
Speaker 2: in love with horror. Yeah, I really love it now.
• 19:05
Speaker 1: I feel like is better to watch for me personally
• 19:08
Speaker 1: because I have like a jumping in stink. Yeah, is
• 19:13
Speaker 1: a on a plane when I'm surrounded by people.
• 19:15
Speaker 2: Right. I never watched something at night right and during
• 19:19
  Speaker 2: the day.
• 19:19
Speaker 1: But I can be on a plane at night as
• 19:21
Speaker 1: long as the window's open, then I'm okay. And if
• 19:23
Speaker 1: I'm on this inf I'm on the window.
• 19:25
Speaker 2: I do daytime always, and I will probably most of
• 19:28
Speaker 2: the time cover one of my sensories, Like if it's
• 19:31
Speaker 2: something scary, I'll probably cover my ears. So I don't
• 19:33
Speaker 2: get both. I can't like watch something scary and hear
• 19:35
Speaker 2: something scary. I have to pick.
• 19:36
  Speaker 1: What about violence?
• 19:38
Speaker 2: I don't like love blood and guts and horror, like
• 19:40
  Speaker 2: I don't. I don't love that. And that's what I
• 19:41
Speaker 2: love about the shows that it's not like organs filling
• 19:44
Speaker 2: out and like row nails being rippy.
• 19:45
Speaker 3: It's like just a creepy ambiyonce. And what I liked
• 19:48
Speaker 3: about it too is they'll set something up and you're like, Okay,
• 19:52
Speaker 3: you know this girl is like going into these scenarios
• 19:54
Speaker 3: and it's very creepy and like, why doesn't she and
• 19:56
Speaker 3: then they solve it, and then there's like a new scenario,
• 19:59
Speaker 3: so it's like it's not just like a one and done,
• 20:01
Speaker 3: Like there's a real layered story.
• 20:03
Speaker 1: There, and sometimes that's creepier than the actual. But I
• 20:06
Speaker 1: really don't like violence, Like when I see men hitting
• 20:09
Speaker 1: men or women violence against women, I cannot watch it all.
• 20:13
Speaker 1: But I just can't even watch it. I end up
• 20:14
Speaker 1: closing my eyes half the movie. So if it's too violent,
• 20:17
Speaker 1: it's like a weight it's wasted on me.
• 20:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, this show is cool because it's more of a
• 20:23
Speaker 2: psychological thriller I think than like and I think maybe
• 20:25
Speaker 2: perhaps they don't like the traditional horror in the sense
• 20:28
Speaker 2: of like blood and guts and violence. I like more
• 20:32
Speaker 2: of the slow burn psychological torture.
• 20:35
Speaker 1: You know who else is Argentinian or Argentine? Anya?
• 20:37
  Speaker 3: Anya Taylor Joy?
• 20:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, do you know her?
• 20:40
Speaker 2: She was just in Progue when I was filming and
• 20:41
Speaker 2: we didn't get to meet up, but she was filming something.
• 20:43
Speaker 2: But we know each other just casually from like award
• 20:46
Speaker 2: shows and stuff. Since I go to so many awards.
• 20:48
Speaker 2: Its probably one that it's so funny.
• 20:50
Speaker 1: Because I was at Glastonbury this year, I met her
• 20:51
Speaker 1: at Glastonbury and she was in the crew that I
• 20:54
Speaker 1: was hanging out with, and I had no idea she
• 20:56
Speaker 1: was Argentinian or Argentine We're gonna get to the bottom of.
• 21:00
Speaker 2: This, or someone will for us exactly. Yeah, don't worry,
• 21:05
Speaker 2: they'll get to us before we can even get to Yes.
• 21:07
Speaker 1: But we had this beautiful conversation which I've been kind
• 21:09
Speaker 1: of taking on the road with me and taking ownership
• 21:12
Speaker 1: of because it was about ascension, like about how women
• 21:15
Speaker 1: are never like cooked. We're constantly growing and constantly learning.
• 21:18
Speaker 1: Because we were talking about our age differences, and I
• 21:21
Speaker 1: was experiencing like a really fun career moment at that time,
• 21:24
Speaker 1: and I was like, she's like, that's so awesome, and
• 21:26
Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, I'm fifty years old, Like how
• 21:28
Speaker 1: can you believe like that? That's like a peak that
• 21:31
Speaker 1: I never thought I would peak or have.
• 21:32
Speaker 2: A more basic diapter.
• 21:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, you're told after forty that you're like useless. Yeah,
• 21:37
Speaker 1: And I'm like, some of my best career moments have
• 21:39
Speaker 1: happened between forty and fifty, and now that I'm fifty one,
• 21:42
Speaker 1: I just turned fifty one, I'm like, I'm more excited
• 21:44
Speaker 1: now than ever because I look at everything as an ascension.
• 21:47
Speaker 1: Like now, I'm like, as long as women are here,
• 21:49
Speaker 1: especially for women, as long as we're here, we're in
• 21:51
Speaker 1: ascension where and when we die then it's over. Like
• 21:54
Speaker 1: the idea that you can't do something like I learned
• 21:56
Speaker 1: how to be a kick ask heier when I was
• 21:57
Speaker 1: like forty three forty four years old. People usually are like,
• 22:00
Speaker 1: I didn't learn how to ski? Well why I was.
• 22:02
Speaker 2: Thankful to my parents because I'm not like those skiers
• 22:04
Speaker 2: on the slopes that has like the little hit movements.
• 22:06
Speaker 2: And they've all been in classince there were two. And
• 22:08
Speaker 2: I was like you and I. He's never made me
• 22:09
Speaker 2: stick to any sports, and now I'm not good at anything,
• 22:12
Speaker 2: like I hate you guys. But they were like, you
• 22:13
Speaker 2: can go out there and try. So it's good to
• 22:15
Speaker 2: know that I can become a great skier and now I.
• 22:17
Speaker 1: Can ski ski. Most people like that. I even meet,
• 22:19
Speaker 1: you know, people that live in with I have a
• 22:21
Speaker 1: house in Whistle, Canada. When I go there, like people
• 22:23
Speaker 1: that live there, I ski better than they do.
• 22:25
Speaker 2: My mom got dropped. She on helly skiing yesterday in
• 22:27
Speaker 2: Switzerland called me from the bottom hysterically crying. She was
• 22:31
Speaker 2: like a powder is so hard. Nobody told me there
• 22:33
Speaker 2: was no way down, but so fun. I've long like
• 22:36
Speaker 2: got the like slowed down. The entire crew that she
• 22:39
Speaker 2: was with. She'd never helly skied. She was with these
• 22:41
Speaker 2: like really good skiers and they dropped her off and
• 22:42
Speaker 2: she was falling the entire time. She's like, I was
• 22:45
Speaker 2: just like I was buried under The powder was awful.
• 22:47
Speaker 1: So it's hard, but powder skiing's hard. If you've never
• 22:49
Speaker 1: powder skied, yeah, I have. I had that problem, you, yeah,
• 22:51
Speaker 1: because it's deep and it's like everything you learn about skiing.
• 22:54
Speaker 1: It's kind of the opposite technique for powder. You don't
• 22:56
Speaker 1: do much. You just kind of hop and bounce around.
• 22:58
Speaker 1: But it's really scary. You going hell is skiing already.
• 23:01
Speaker 1: And then if you don't know how to.
• 23:02
Speaker 2: Skiing a helicopter and I don't want to ski on
• 23:04
Speaker 2: the top of it, and you don't want to jump
• 23:06
Speaker 2: out of a helicopter. So I don't think the combination
• 23:08
Speaker 2: is meant for me. But I am down, I am adventurous.
• 23:10
Speaker 2: I would do I would do it.
• 23:11
Speaker 1: So back to ascension, that's a female ascension and women ascension.
• 23:16
Speaker 1: How old are you right now?
• 23:17
  Speaker 2: Twenty eight.
• 23:17
Speaker 1: Oh, oh my god, you're a baby.
• 23:18
Speaker 2: No, but it doesn't feel like that. I feel all
• 23:20
Speaker 2: the things that you're saying. It's actually really real. It's
• 23:22
Speaker 2: so weird, and it's like almost as it's like almost thirty,
• 23:25
Speaker 2: and it sounds like, you know, thirty is such a baby.
• 23:27
Speaker 2: But it's like my friends are actually starting to like
• 23:30
Speaker 2: get engaged and get married, and most of my friends
• 23:32
Speaker 2: have babies already at twenty eight.
• 23:35
Speaker 1: I'm like, why, why do they have babies already?
• 23:37
  Speaker 2: I don't know.
• 23:37
Speaker 1: I thought that was out of style, and you're they're.
• 23:39
Speaker 2: Like having babies, but they're kind of like you know,
• 23:42
Speaker 2: even my dad was like, you know, you have to
• 23:44
Speaker 2: you know, if you're going to date somebody now, it's
• 23:46
Speaker 2: kind of got to be your person because you're like
• 23:47
Speaker 2: almost thirty. And I'm like, I'm almost thirty, Like what
• 23:49
  Speaker 2: does that mean?
• 23:50
Speaker 1: No, I take scared, but it's so but it's you
• 23:53
Speaker 1: have so much to look forward to, like I wish
• 23:56
Speaker 1: when we were our age. Actually this is the moment
• 23:58
Speaker 1: because I'm so much older than you, and I can
• 24:01
Speaker 1: tell you have so much to look forward to. Like
• 24:03
Speaker 1: you're twenty eight, you already have a huge career. You
• 24:06
Speaker 1: already have a full life, You're already living in New York.
• 24:09
Speaker 1: Like your life is just going to get better and
• 24:11
Speaker 1: better and better the more experiences you have, and like
• 24:15
Speaker 1: the older you get, and I'm here, are really fide
• 24:17
  Speaker 1: to that.
• 24:17
Speaker 2: Thank you for saying that, but like it really is
• 24:19
Speaker 2: kind of traumatic. And even in the oscars, I remember
• 24:21
Speaker 2: like when Michelle Yo Want, everyone was like, oh my god,
• 24:24
Speaker 2: you can win an oscar at that age, and it's like,
• 24:26
Speaker 2: what are we talking about? But it really is, I
• 24:29
Speaker 2: think specifically in the industry, like the leading lady is
• 24:32
Speaker 2: meant to like die out at you know, thirty six
• 24:34
Speaker 2: or thirty eight years old. You know, it's then you
• 24:36
Speaker 2: move into the mother role. You're no longer like the
• 24:38
Speaker 2: love interest, and I just I find that really confusing
• 24:41
Speaker 2: and scary, and it just feels like there's this like
• 24:43
Speaker 2: finite time limit on but it's just not true.
• 24:45
Speaker 1: Look at Nicole Kidman, you know what I mean. Look
• 24:48
Speaker 1: at Francis McDorman, Look at all those types of women
• 24:50
Speaker 1: that are just like constantly picking projects that they want
• 24:53
Speaker 1: to do. Look at Patricia Arquette, you know, like they're
• 24:55
Speaker 1: all perfect examples of the fact that you are people
• 24:57
Speaker 1: are still working at that age and that we've been
• 25:00
Speaker 1: fed this idea and this bullshit, and it's kind of
• 25:02
Speaker 1: like counter to everything that's going on politically, Like not
• 25:05
Speaker 1: even though Hollywood still has a long way to go
• 25:07
Speaker 1: with sexism and racism, we are it is counter to
• 25:10
Speaker 1: what is happening in the world. So like that's just
• 25:13
Speaker 1: not true. People are working in their fifties and sixties
• 25:15
Speaker 1: like ever before. Look at Meryl Streep, look at you know.
• 25:17
Speaker 2: But I find myself like unlearning this pretense that I
• 25:20
Speaker 2: feel that I have. Maybe I've you know, self implied
• 25:23
Speaker 2: this kind of stress and pressure and all that, but
• 25:26
Speaker 2: it does feel real in some capacity. But then of
• 25:28
Speaker 2: course you see the people and even like what Reese
• 25:30
Speaker 2: has done with Hell Sunshine and creating her own opportunities,
• 25:32
  Speaker 2: and I just I actually think we're in a really
• 25:34
Speaker 2: interesting moment where actresses, you know, Marcot, Robbie and all
• 25:37
Speaker 2: the women who have production companies and they're going out
• 25:38
Speaker 2: there and finding their own ap and doing what she
• 25:41
Speaker 2: did with Barbie and you know other heights, yeah, and
• 25:44
Speaker 2: all of it. And I just think it's really exciting
• 25:46
Speaker 2: that now we can like go and kind of create
• 25:47
Speaker 2: our own producorial role.
• 25:50
Speaker 1: In the movie something very bad is going to happen.
• 25:52
Speaker 1: They it's all about you, like playing on your paranoia
• 25:55
Speaker 1: and like superstitious and or superstitions. Is that you relate
• 26:00
Speaker 1: to any of that in your real life?
• 26:01
Speaker 2: Are you enough? You didn't have anywhere to put my purse,
• 26:03
Speaker 2: so I like held onto it. I paine just now
• 26:05
Speaker 2: I have like I'm a huge tope back as my
• 26:07
Speaker 2: mom was like, Nargentina, if you put me on your
• 26:09
Speaker 2: person before, you instantly lose money.
• 26:11
Speaker 1: That's what everyone says to me. By the way, that's
• 26:13
Speaker 1: not true. I put my purse on the ground all
• 26:14
  Speaker 1: the time.
• 26:15
  Speaker 2: I mean.
• 26:17
Speaker 1: Maybe where we're in the money pain. Yeah, yeah, that's right.
• 26:24
Speaker 2: I was putting on the table was powder room, like
• 26:27
Speaker 2: holding onto the ball.
• 26:29
Speaker 1: I was like, I can't lose money. Oh my god,
• 26:31
Speaker 1: why didn't you put on this sing because it's a
• 26:32
Speaker 1: very tiny slot. Okay, yeah, we gotta find the table there,
• 26:36
Speaker 1: thank you. Yeah, contractor yeah yeah, yeah, you know, we
• 26:38
Speaker 1: don't want to talk to the contractor anymore.
• 26:40
Speaker 2: It's over that relationship. Relationships are the most volatile relationships
• 26:45
Speaker 2: of all the time. It's you know, anyone who has
• 26:47
Speaker 2: a successful relationship more more contractor breakups and friend breakups
• 26:53
  Speaker 2: and relationship breaks.
• 26:54
  Speaker 1: It's unbelievable. I don't know. It's almost like if you
• 26:56
Speaker 1: become a contractor or something else didn't work out, like
• 26:59
Speaker 1: because I don't know why they are so crooked and
• 27:02
Speaker 1: why they are so careless. I had a good experience
• 27:05
Speaker 1: with my last contractor, but the first one a nightmare.
• 27:07
Speaker 2: But I knows a contractor. We betted them. I love him,
• 27:12
Speaker 2: I've met him. He does great work, right.
• 27:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, but there should already be something like that. It's
• 27:17
Speaker 1: called a referral, you know, when somebody like you.
• 27:19
Speaker 2: Know anybody when it comes to contract else nobody.
• 27:22
Speaker 1: I had a great experience with my Spanish contractors. They
• 27:25
Speaker 1: were amazing. Yeah, they were like on time early, gave
• 27:28
Speaker 1: me money back at the end of the thing.
• 27:31
  Speaker 4: Hurt.
• 27:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, God, sounds like we're supposed to get with taxes, right.
• 27:34
Speaker 1: So are you superstitious about anything else?
• 27:36
  Speaker 4: Yeah?
• 27:36
Speaker 2: Everything Like salt can't hand hand if it touched me
• 27:40
Speaker 2: hand to hand, like it's the whole thing is going
• 27:42
Speaker 2: over the left shoulder. No umbrella and doors, of course,
• 27:46
Speaker 2: forget a staircase, splitting a pole.
• 27:50
Speaker 1: You won't walk under a staircase, or you won't walk
• 27:52
Speaker 1: up a staircase either airrifted.
• 27:57
  Speaker 2: I don't do staircases. No, I won't walk up under
• 27:59
Speaker 2: a stair in a ladder. I mean, what else is there?
• 28:01
Speaker 2: There's so many I mean, cheers and looking in the eyes,
• 28:03
Speaker 2: all the things. I mean anything black cat forget that.
• 28:06
Speaker 2: I mean, I've had a black cat cross me and
• 28:08
Speaker 2: I had to get out and do like this, like
• 28:10
Speaker 2: ritual we cross a car thirteen times.
• 28:12
Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know. Somebody told me for my house
• 28:15
Speaker 1: to cleanse it, you know, to clean the energy, to
• 28:18
Speaker 1: get a bunch of monks here to pray to change
• 28:22
Speaker 1: the frequency and the vibration of the house. And I
• 28:24
Speaker 1: was like, experience with this. I don't really want to
• 28:28
Speaker 1: deal with a bunch of monks right now. I mean,
• 28:30
Speaker 1: but maybe they can come while I'm gone, because I'm
• 28:32
Speaker 1: never here anyway. Okay, we're going to get into the
• 28:35
Speaker 1: advice portion of the show where we give advice. Okay,
• 28:37
Speaker 1: so do you might get.
• 28:38
Speaker 2: The hypothermia, but I'm ready to give advice. And you're
• 28:41
Speaker 2: a dreams the one that's behind.
• 28:43
Speaker 1: You, of course, thank you. Give me an example if
• 28:46
Speaker 1: you can think of one of either the best advice
• 28:50
Speaker 1: or the worst advice you've ever gotten from someone.
• 28:52
Speaker 2: I mean, like the idea of everything happens for a reason,
• 28:55
Speaker 2: when something like absolutely terrible is happening in your life,
• 28:58
Speaker 2: Like everything happens for a reason. It's like such horrible
• 29:01
Speaker 2: things have happened in humanity and history. I don't know
• 29:03
Speaker 2: if everything happens for a reason, but I believe that
• 29:05
Speaker 2: there's a lesson to be learned from everything you do,
• 29:07
Speaker 2: and I'm down to embrace that. I don't know if
• 29:09
Speaker 2: that goes under the worst advice, but.
• 29:11
Speaker 1: That's just kind of like a platitude, do you know
• 29:13
Speaker 1: what I mean? Everything happens and carry It's like it's
• 29:16
Speaker 1: like when people say My least favorite saying is when
• 29:19
Speaker 1: people say it is what it is? What does that
• 29:21
Speaker 1: mean that it actually mean anything to what it is?
• 29:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty bad. I put that up there.
• 29:27
Speaker 1: Do you want to cover your other arm? But that
• 29:28
Speaker 1: doesn't like, I mean, do you know how to use
• 29:30
Speaker 1: a blanket? It doesn't seem like that.
• 29:32
  Speaker 3: I'm trying to.
• 29:37
Speaker 1: Also, it's okay, as long as your eyebrows are out,
• 29:41
  Speaker 1: we're fine.
• 29:42
Speaker 3: Give me my eyebrows is good, okay.
• 29:45
Speaker 2: One side note to tell you. What I forget is
• 29:48
Speaker 2: my brain short shirtening?
• 29:50
Speaker 1: Wait, swips, is there a cat here?
• 29:54
Speaker 2: You love to work out in my grandma's bedroom. I'm
• 30:00
Speaker 2: just gonna leave that there.
• 30:02
Speaker 1: Ben Bruno's home is your grandmother's bed.
• 30:07
Speaker 2: Home gym is my grandmother's bedroom. My mom sold our
• 30:10
Speaker 2: house to Ben Bruno, your trainer, what who I still
• 30:13
Speaker 2: haven't met? And my grandma would come from Argentina because
• 30:16
Speaker 2: she's Argentine, Yeah, Argine, and she's Argentine now, and we
• 30:21
Speaker 2: would like throw her in this garage room off the
• 30:24
Speaker 2: laundry that like didn't have insulation or like heating or
• 30:27
Speaker 2: air conditioning, and she would be so happy to be
• 30:29
Speaker 2: visiting us. And Ben Bruno bought the house and turned
• 30:31
Speaker 2: that into a gym.
• 30:32
Speaker 1: Which is called the kitchen. He calls it the kitchen.
• 30:35
Speaker 2: It was not the kitchen. It's the garage with no insulation.
• 30:38
Speaker 1: So that I was like, the only place side that
• 30:40
Speaker 1: she could be talking about is Ben Bruno's garage. But connection, Okay,
• 30:44
Speaker 1: are we taking a break and coming back? Okay, we're
• 30:46
Speaker 1: taking a break or taking brow We're taking a break
• 30:49
Speaker 1: with Camilla Morone. Camilla moroone? Am I saying it right, yeah,
• 30:53
Speaker 1: Camilla Moroon, I think.
• 30:54
Speaker 2: So we're taking a break with.
• 30:55
Speaker 1: Camilla Moron and we're going to be right back, and
• 31:01
Speaker 1: we're back with Camela Morrea.
• 31:03
  Speaker 2: Wow that was.
• 31:04
  Speaker 3: Fast, so fast.
• 31:04
Speaker 2: Well okay, I thought we were getting up.
• 31:06
Speaker 3: Touching up that I just had to go upstairs and yeah, okay,
• 31:11
Speaker 3: Well we have a big red flag here. So this
• 31:13
Speaker 3: is our one drink question. Reckon says, my parents are
• 31:16
Speaker 3: divorced and my dad talks shit about my mom on
• 31:19
  Speaker 3: social media.
• 31:20
  Speaker 1: Oh that's great.
• 31:22
Speaker 3: My mom doesn't retaliate, but I know she's aware of it.
• 31:25
Speaker 3: I've asked him to stop and he won't. But my
• 31:27
Speaker 3: wedding is coming up and I don't want any drama.
• 31:29
Speaker 3: Should I disinvite him from my wedding if he won't stop.
• 31:32
Speaker 1: Yes, Reckon, Yes, yes, yes, yes.
• 31:34
Speaker 2: Oh see. I was like, no, that's.
• 31:36
Speaker 1: Why you're here. We're having to have differing opinions. Let
• 31:38
Speaker 1: me just go first, and then I want to hear
• 31:40
Speaker 1: what you say. I first of all, that is totally
• 31:42
Speaker 1: unacceptable to trash talk somebody's the father or daughter, father
• 31:46
Speaker 1: or mother of your child on public or behind the scenes,
• 31:49
Speaker 1: in my opinion, like that's you're the parent act like it,
• 31:53
Speaker 1: and that is a perfect reason to disinvite him from
• 31:56
Speaker 1: the wedding. Why would you put your mother in that situation?
• 31:58
Speaker 1: You know, I'm sure your mother's going to be cool
• 32:00
Speaker 1: because she's not going to be responsive to that. But
• 32:02
Speaker 1: you have to have a really long conversation with your
• 32:04
Speaker 1: father about boundaries and about what's acceptable. Okay, now you go.
• 32:08
Speaker 2: I'm deeply triggered. This is basically my entire childhood said
• 32:12
Speaker 2: they got along great. Well, this is they're Argentinian. I
• 32:14
Speaker 2: mean they like get along for like one Christmas they're
• 32:16
Speaker 2: like best friends and the next my mom, my mom
• 32:18
Speaker 2: and daughter, like I won't be there for the other
• 32:19
Speaker 2: parents there. That's the vibe. And it's also always very
• 32:21
Speaker 2: dependent on who their partner is at the time. Sure,
• 32:25
Speaker 2: so like if the partner's like, I don't want that involved.
• 32:27
  Speaker 2: So it's it's a very you know, it's an up
• 32:29
  Speaker 2: and down. It's been. It's been. It's been like a
• 32:31
Speaker 2: part time job mediating between them for the last you know,
• 32:34
  Speaker 2: twenty years.
• 32:35
Speaker 1: But I okay, well, I have very different than what
• 32:38
Speaker 1: you said at the beginning of the episode, where you
• 32:39
Speaker 1: said my parents got along so well, so I couldn't
• 32:42
Speaker 1: even play them against each other.
• 32:43
Speaker 2: Now you're each other about important things like if like you, Yes,
• 32:47
Speaker 2: they're in cahoots, so like they'll do a check in
• 32:50
Speaker 2: once You're like, how do you feel? Like you know,
• 32:51
Speaker 2: if I'm going through a hard time? Like they always
• 32:53
Speaker 2: talk to each other on the phone. Yeah, they do,
• 32:55
Speaker 2: but they don't want to hang necessarily anymore. But there
• 32:57
Speaker 2: has been times that they hung. It's very up and down.
• 33:00
Speaker 2: I want to know more about the dad posting on Instagram?
• 33:02
Speaker 2: Is it comments or is he doing like a grid post?
• 33:05
  Speaker 2: Being like today.
• 33:06
  Speaker 3: He's on Instagram?
• 33:07
Speaker 2: Is he on a grid post? Being like hey fuck
• 33:10
Speaker 2: you X? WHATY Like, I'm just curious, yeah, like is
• 33:13
Speaker 2: it a grid post or is he storing it? And
• 33:14
Speaker 2: does he like attach a photo of the mom? So
• 33:17
Speaker 2: obviously he's like not over it and still love because
• 33:19
Speaker 2: like he's really adamant. I have so many questions about it,
• 33:21
Speaker 2: like just the technicality of the ship talking on him.
• 33:24
Speaker 1: But what you were instinctially you were gonna say that
• 33:26
Speaker 1: what that that he should come to have.
• 33:28
Speaker 2: A conversation with the dad first. You really don't want
• 33:30
Speaker 2: like your you want your mom and dad there if
• 33:32
Speaker 2: they can be so I would just sit down my
• 33:33
Speaker 2: dad and be like, I would love to have you there,
• 33:35
Speaker 2: but if you're gonna be problematic, I'm very happy to
• 33:37
Speaker 2: uninvite you. So like, if you can control yourself, you're
• 33:40
Speaker 2: super wanted. If you can't, then you're not coming. And
• 33:42
  Speaker 2: that's my mom.
• 33:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's really such a great way.
• 33:44
Speaker 2: And then there's maybe there's like a really my probability
• 33:47
Speaker 2: that he'll like blackout and like shit, talk to mom
• 33:49
Speaker 2: at the wedding. You have to be prepared, right.
• 33:51
Speaker 1: Well, then you have to put like drinking limitations on
• 33:53
Speaker 1: the situation, which is never fun for anybody.
• 33:55
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 33:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I wouldn't go anywhere where they told
• 33:58
Speaker 1: me to limit my drinking. But I'm also not problem
• 34:00
Speaker 1: like that, not anymore anyway, not in this part of
• 34:03
  Speaker 1: my life.
• 34:04
Speaker 2: They like pull reference clips of like all the time.
• 34:07
Speaker 2: I'm just gonna Chelsea ever sailation.
• 34:14
Speaker 3: We're gonna call Jane Fund. She's gonna tell us the
• 34:16
  Speaker 3: who story.
• 34:17
  Speaker 2: Yeah, exact thing.
• 34:18
Speaker 3: All right, breckon, Well you've got the language to use.
• 34:20
Speaker 1: Now, did you come on this podcast hoping to give advice?
• 34:23
  Speaker 1: Is that why?
• 34:24
Speaker 2: I mean? Did you love the main reasons? Oh my God,
• 34:26
Speaker 2: I'm so good at give the advice and I'm so
• 34:27
Speaker 2: bad at taking it.
• 34:28
Speaker 1: I love it me too, exactly the same, exactly, Look
• 34:32
  Speaker 1: we look amazing.
• 34:37
Speaker 3: Okay. So our first caller today is Caitlyn. She is
• 34:42
Speaker 3: thirty two and her subject line is chat GPT broke
• 34:45
Speaker 3: up with me by proxy. So Caitlyn says, Dear Chelsea,
• 34:49
Speaker 3: I'm not sure if this qualifies as a dating question
• 34:52
Speaker 3: or how do I stop my life from falling apart
• 34:54
Speaker 3: all at once? Question? But here goes. A year and
• 34:56
Speaker 3: a half ago, I met a wonderful man while on
• 34:58
Speaker 3: an extended work trip to Texas. We did long distance.
• 35:01
Speaker 3: It went well, and last year we decided we were
• 35:03
Speaker 3: ready to move in together soon. He's fully remote and
• 35:06
Speaker 3: I was tethered to New York, so the plan was
• 35:08
Speaker 3: to make New York home. He's from here originally too.
• 35:10
Speaker 3: Then everything happened at once. Before he had a chance
• 35:13
Speaker 3: to move in, I found out my job probably ends
• 35:15
Speaker 3: this year. Moving to Texas, started to make financial sense,
• 35:18
Speaker 3: lower cost of living, finally start a personal life after
• 35:21
Speaker 3: years of being tied to work, etc. Then in January
• 35:24
Speaker 3: I was diagnosed with endometriosis and surgery was scheduled a
• 35:27
Speaker 3: few weeks later. Suddenly I needed one thing in my
• 35:30
Speaker 3: life to stay still. I couldn't face moving across the country,
• 35:33
Speaker 3: away from my entire support network right after surgery in
• 35:35
Speaker 3: a red state where I'd also want to freeze my
• 35:37
Speaker 3: eggs while unemployed and potentially financially dependent on a man
• 35:41
Speaker 3: for the first time in my life. So last month
• 35:43
Speaker 3: I called to ask him if he'd consider moving into
• 35:46
Speaker 3: my place temporarily, just to buy us some time. The
• 35:49
Speaker 3: conversation ended with us breaking up. He told me the
• 35:53
Speaker 3: romantic in him wanted to relocate, but reason told him
• 35:56
Speaker 3: it wouldn't work. He'd apparently been consulting chat GPT about
• 35:59
Speaker 3: our real relationship, which told him two people can love
• 36:02
Speaker 3: each other, but sometimes timing and location just don't line up.
• 36:06
Speaker 3: I have a long history with abandonment and relationships ending
• 36:09
Speaker 3: because people didn't show up when I needed them most.
• 36:11
Speaker 3: He offered to come help me through my surgery because
• 36:13
Speaker 3: he felt bad about the timing, which I declined. Obviously,
• 36:16
Speaker 3: it made me sad to say it out loud. I
• 36:17
Speaker 3: guess my question is was I asking for too much?
• 36:20
Speaker 3: Or am I someone who keeps finding herself alone in
• 36:22
Speaker 3: hard moments and calling it independence and Caitlin, I know
• 36:26
Speaker 3: you have an update about relationship status.
• 36:28
  Speaker 4: Here.
• 36:28
Speaker 1: Hi Caitlin, Hi, Hi, this is Camilla Moron. She's our
• 36:34
Speaker 1: special guest today. We're happy that you called in and yes,
• 36:38
  Speaker 1: what's your update.
• 36:40
Speaker 4: We are back together. We had a call shortly after,
• 36:46
Speaker 4: so we were able to kind of reconvene together and
• 36:51
Speaker 4: figure it all out. I also had a therapy session
• 36:54
Speaker 4: and was able to chat with a therapist about like
• 36:58
Speaker 4: rationally just like my past and walking through all of
• 37:03
Speaker 4: that and how previously in relationships I've always kind of
• 37:08
Speaker 4: hunkered down and said I can take care of myself
• 37:10
Speaker 4: on my own. So that was kind of the rationale
• 37:14
Speaker 4: behind us getting back together. Was like I truly knew
• 37:18
Speaker 4: I wanted to be with him and give it a chance.
• 37:19
Speaker 4: I think I could possibly overlook the chat GPT thing.
• 37:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think that's How did you guys come
• 37:27
Speaker 1: about getting back on the phone? Like, who initiated that
• 37:29
Speaker 1: phone call? After chat GPT prompted told him to break
• 37:33
Speaker 1: up with you? I called him, okay, And what was
• 37:36
Speaker 1: that call? Like, what were your intentions with a call
• 37:38
Speaker 1: to get back together?
• 37:39
Speaker 4: It was it was to be clear that you know,
• 37:43
Speaker 4: we needed to work things out, and we kind of
• 37:47
Speaker 4: just needed to talk through a couple of things, like
• 37:52
Speaker 4: just understanding that I had a lot going on and
• 37:55
Speaker 4: that I think we needed to make one decision at
• 37:57
Speaker 4: a time realistically, And.
• 37:59
Speaker 1: So he was open to getting back together.
• 38:02
Speaker 4: Yes, he was communicative in that, Like he had said,
• 38:06
Speaker 4: his plan was that he would reach out again after
• 38:09
Speaker 4: I had my surgery and he would connect with me
• 38:13
Speaker 4: to try to make things right and figure out a
• 38:18
Speaker 4: pass forward for the both of us. So he was
• 38:22
Speaker 4: very receptive to getting back together. I think it was
• 38:26
Speaker 4: his plan all along, like after we kind of had
• 38:29
Speaker 4: that initial breakup conversation. But I think for me, like
• 38:33
Speaker 4: after talking to my therapist, I had said that I
• 38:38
Speaker 4: knew I truly wanted to be with him. I just
• 38:40
Speaker 4: was in this rush of decision making between having with
• 38:44
Speaker 4: surgery and feeling overwhelmed from that, feeling overwhelmed from a
• 38:48
Speaker 4: ton of work being dumped on me because two of
• 38:51
Speaker 4: my teammates left, and you know, I didn't know if
• 38:55
Speaker 4: my job was going to be intact by the end
• 38:57
Speaker 4: of the year. I just couldn't possibly make a move
• 39:00
Speaker 4: decision right then and there, and I just felt like
• 39:04
Speaker 4: hunkering down and breaking up was like the easiest thing.
• 39:07
Speaker 4: And when he said chat gpt agreed, I was kind
• 39:09
Speaker 4: of like, well, I guess then we have no other.
• 39:12
Speaker 1: Choice, right. Well, first of all, I hate that fucking
• 39:14
Speaker 1: people to use chat gpt for therapy. I hate that
• 39:17
Speaker 1: the people use chatgypt period. Tell them to go to
• 39:19
Speaker 1: Anthropic because chatchypt is like surveilling all of us.
• 39:22
  Speaker 3: Or a therapist.
• 39:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, or a therapist. I feel like that exactly what
• 39:25
Speaker 1: am I talking about. Go to a different AI platform.
• 39:29
Speaker 1: But I think the overarching lesson here for our listeners
• 39:32
Speaker 1: and for you is when you are in a state
• 39:34
Speaker 1: of overwhelm, there are no decisions to be made like that.
• 39:38
Speaker 1: You shouldn't be making any serious decisions when you're feeling overwhelmed.
• 39:41
Speaker 1: You have to know that you're in a sense of
• 39:43
Speaker 1: kind of almost desensitization. Like when I'm so busy and
• 39:47
Speaker 1: so like, or I have a million things going on,
• 39:49
Speaker 1: it's like I can't give my full attention to certain
• 39:52
Speaker 1: aspects of my life. And I'm just very honest about that.
• 39:55
  Speaker 1: I'm like, listen, I can't. I don't have the bandwidth
• 39:58
Speaker 1: right now for this. I'll be back, I'll circle back
• 40:00
Speaker 1: on this in about a week, you know, Like, and
• 40:02
Speaker 1: I think it's important to recognize that as women who
• 40:05
Speaker 1: feel like we can multitask everything and we can do
• 40:09
Speaker 1: a million things at one time, which we're good at,
• 40:11
Speaker 1: we still have our limits too, Like, and it is
• 40:14
Speaker 1: important to recognize when you're in those moments, you're going
• 40:16
Speaker 1: through a ton of stuff and going through medical like
• 40:19
Speaker 1: personal stuff, that's no time to make a decision about
• 40:21
  Speaker 1: your relationship.
• 40:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say, I have endo and I've
• 40:24
Speaker 2: been avoiding the surgery for since I was fifteen, So, like,
• 40:27
Speaker 2: you're really brave for going through it. And it's very
• 40:29
Speaker 2: isolating and very lonely to have endometriosis. And that's a
• 40:32
Speaker 2: really particular thing to be going through during a breakup.
• 40:36
Speaker 2: But it's already really scary and makes you feel really
• 40:39
Speaker 2: isolated because no one really understands it unless.
• 40:41
Speaker 3: You have it, including doctors.
• 40:43
Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, and especially men that don't.
• 40:46
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah. So how are you doing now after
• 40:49
  Speaker 1: the surgery?
• 40:50
Speaker 4: My surgery actually hasn't happened. It's actually next week. It's
• 40:54
Speaker 4: next to okay. He plans to fly out. He's actually
• 40:58
Speaker 4: been really supportive, been sending articles so it's interesting you
• 41:02
Speaker 4: say that it's challenging for men to understand. I think
• 41:04
Speaker 4: while he's in the same state of mind that he'll
• 41:09
Speaker 4: never understand truly, he's been doing research, like reading through
• 41:14
Speaker 4: Reddit forums and then also just kind of doing his
• 41:18
Speaker 4: own knowledge checking. That's really trying to figure out how
• 41:22
Speaker 4: to support me throughout the surgery.
• 41:24
Speaker 3: See, that's a positive use of the technology.
• 41:26
Speaker 2: I like, that's what we're using. Yes, how do we understand?
• 41:31
  Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, exactly.
• 41:33
Speaker 1: Well, great, it sounds like everything's going great. Then I'm
• 41:36
Speaker 1: glad that you have this update and that you've filled
• 41:38
Speaker 1: us in on that. And yeah, we need to be
• 41:40
Speaker 1: talking about these issues with men as often as possible
• 41:42
Speaker 1: because they lack understanding, because they lack education about it.
• 41:46
Speaker 1: You know, endometriosis. I have two other girlfriends who are like,
• 41:49
Speaker 1: there's like they they went to mail doctors who were like,
• 41:53
Speaker 1: knew nothing about endometriosis, which is ridiculous, and like, because
• 41:57
  Speaker 1: it's a woman's disease, there are a woman's I don't
• 42:00
Speaker 1: even know is it a disease?
• 42:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, and even funny enough, it's very hard. You can't
• 42:03
Speaker 2: get diagnosed unless you really open up laparoscopically. And do surgery.
• 42:07
Speaker 2: So like you can get like a vaginal exam, but
• 42:09
Speaker 2: it's like actually not guaranteed. How you do this.
• 42:12
Speaker 1: When you talk about a vaginal exam, same experience.
• 42:15
Speaker 4: Yes, that's how they figured out it was and no
• 42:19
Speaker 4: for me was like doing this and then they didn't
• 42:23
Speaker 4: be actual scan and saw that I had a six
• 42:26
Speaker 4: centimeter cyst and it's probably a deep infiltrating phase because
• 42:31
Speaker 4: they said it was late stage. So I hope you
• 42:33
Speaker 4: do also go get and no taken care of. It's
• 42:37
Speaker 4: not something we should be dealing with. And I hope
• 42:41
Speaker 4: you're able to find a solution for yourself that work.
• 42:44
Speaker 2: Thank you. Good luck with your surgery.
• 42:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, have a have a good surgery and have a
• 42:48
Speaker 1: good recovery. And I'm glad things are back on track.
• 42:50
Speaker 2: By by your man.
• 42:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, and tell them to stop going on. Yeah that's
• 42:54
Speaker 1: a direct quote from me. Reddit is okay, we've decided, Yeah,
• 42:57
Speaker 1: read it, go on Reddit.
• 43:00
Speaker 4: Well, I appreciate it.
• 43:01
Speaker 3: Okay, then good luck, Okay, thank you. That's so funny
• 43:05
Speaker 3: because I didn't know that you had I also have endometriosis.
• 43:08
Speaker 3: And it just like sometimes these questions like they just
• 43:10
Speaker 3: kind of they find the right person. It's so funny
• 43:13
  Speaker 3: how that happens.
• 43:14
Speaker 2: I know that happens. She never talked about it, but
• 43:16
Speaker 2: it's been such a big part of my life since
• 43:17
  Speaker 2: I was fifteen.
• 43:18
Speaker 1: And you're scared to get the surgery.
• 43:19
Speaker 2: I have heard that it is incredibly painful, but mainly
• 43:22
Speaker 2: I'm more it grows back because it is scar tissue,
• 43:25
Speaker 2: and it's tissue. So you know, there's a lot of
• 43:27
Speaker 2: a lot of people that I've consulted with it that
• 43:29
Speaker 2: have the surgery in two three years later they have
• 43:30
Speaker 2: to get it again. There's like an old witch tail
• 43:33
Speaker 2: that if you have children, the pain can reduce significantly.
• 43:35
Speaker 2: I've taken birth control since I was fifteen to kind
• 43:37
Speaker 2: of minimize the pain and the bleeding. But it's the
• 43:40
Speaker 2: worst and it's also so emotional. Remember the day that
• 43:42
Speaker 2: I got diagnosed and it was like I said that
• 43:45
Speaker 2: vaginal exam and I started crying because she was like,
• 43:49
Speaker 2: you do, in fact have endony.
• 43:50
Speaker 3: I was too, so much too. My surgeon was like,
• 43:53
Speaker 3: so you do have endometrios as your life After seven
• 43:56
Speaker 3: years of asking doctors, including female, once do I have this,
• 43:59
Speaker 3: and I'm like, oh my god, he goes you have
• 44:00
Speaker 3: endomet I was like, thank you.
• 44:02
Speaker 2: I remember looking at my mom my boyfriend and being like,
• 44:05
Speaker 2: I told you I'm not crazy, Like the pain's not normal.
• 44:08
Speaker 2: And I actually went to the hospital my first period
• 44:10
Speaker 2: when I was fifteen because they thought I was having
• 44:12
  Speaker 2: like either pancreatitis.
• 44:13
Speaker 3: Cherish or like call letter or something all butter or something.
• 44:16
Speaker 1: And I like, you you look at me as a doctor.
• 44:20
Speaker 1: Yes it is, but so and.
• 44:23
Speaker 2: Actually on average takes up to ten years to diagnose.
• 44:26
Speaker 3: So I will say for our listeners, there is a
• 44:28
Speaker 3: listener who called him before who was dealing with endometriosis.
• 44:31
Speaker 3: And she's got a very helpful Instagram account now called
• 44:35
Speaker 3: Kim versus endo. Check her out.
• 44:37
Speaker 2: That's what Patricia kat sends me the like, oh yeah,
• 44:39
Speaker 2: the end. She's like, if you have green herbal tea
• 44:42
Speaker 2: at three pm, your endo And I'm like, I think
• 44:44
Speaker 2: I need laproscopic surgery with multiple scars. But yes, I
• 44:48
Speaker 2: will look into that sweet pea.
• 44:49
Speaker 1: Yeah that sounds terrible. Also, yeah, so I'm sorry, ladies, it.
• 44:53
Speaker 3: Has to be a woman. Well, let's get to this
• 44:55
Speaker 3: other question, which I think is also pulled maybe straight
• 44:57
Speaker 3: from your life. So our last color state as Lee
• 45:00
Speaker 3: and she says, to your Chelsea, I'm a thirty six
• 45:03
Speaker 3: year old mother of two healthy daughters. I'm married, I
• 45:05
Speaker 3: have a great community. I had a happy, middle class
• 45:08
Speaker 3: childhood in the Midwest, and I still call my mom
• 45:10
Speaker 3: every week. All of this is to say I have
• 45:12
Speaker 3: a very full and fulfilling life. My question today is
• 45:15
Speaker 3: whether I should open Pandora's box or leave well Enough alone.
• 45:19
Speaker 3: Growing up, I was the only child my parents shared together,
• 45:21
Speaker 3: but I knew I had three half sisters and two
• 45:23
Speaker 3: half brothers from my parents' previous marriages. I was raised
• 45:26
Speaker 3: with two half sisters, my mom's children, but we were
• 45:29
Speaker 3: estranged from my dad's three children because of beliefs and
• 45:32
Speaker 3: restrictions within their religion or religion my dad left when
• 45:35
Speaker 3: he divorced their mother. The other siblings would come up
• 45:37
Speaker 3: from time to time. My dad might share an occasional
• 45:40
Speaker 3: story or something about my appearance or personality that would
• 45:43
Speaker 3: spark a memory of them, but these were never relationships
• 45:45
Speaker 3: I actively longed for or mourned because they were relationships
• 45:48
Speaker 3: I never really had. I grew up with only a
• 45:50
Speaker 3: few memories of them. Now, with daughters of my own
• 45:53
Speaker 3: and parents who are getting older, I find myself thinking
• 45:55
Speaker 3: more about family, the bond between siblings, and the connections
• 45:58
Speaker 3: that shape us. I wonder if I should reach out
• 46:01
Speaker 3: to these siblings just to see what might be. At
• 46:03
Speaker 3: the same time, I hesitate. I worry about opening the
• 46:06
Speaker 3: floodgates to decades of emotions this might stir up for
• 46:09
Speaker 3: them and my father. So I'm left wondering do I
• 46:11
Speaker 3: reach out and potentially open Pandora's box to satisfy my curiosity,
• 46:15
Speaker 3: orly well enough alone and focus on the wonderful family
• 46:18
Speaker 3: I already have. Sincerely, Lee, I'm perfect person.
• 46:22
Speaker 2: Two half siblings. My dad had two more kids when
• 46:24
Speaker 2: I was eighteen years old. I was an only child,
• 46:25
Speaker 2: so I was eighteen. You're like, Lily, my dad met
• 46:27
Speaker 2: a woman on match dot com and I have a
• 46:28
Speaker 2: ten and eleven year old brother and sister for the
• 46:30
Speaker 2: first time in my life.
• 46:31
Speaker 1: And do you feel like their mother or their aunt
• 46:33
  Speaker 1: or a sister?
• 46:34
Speaker 2: But I think what I have lots to say? Okay, Hi, Lee, Hi, how.
• 46:40
Speaker 1: Are you Okay? Well, you're in the perfect company.
• 46:42
Speaker 2: Okay. I came to the best place because I mel
• 46:44
  Speaker 2: on my own.
• 46:44
Speaker 1: As our special guest, and she has experienced in this Oh,
• 46:48
  Speaker 1: this is great.
• 46:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, So I was an only child, so I was eighteen,
• 46:52
Speaker 2: and I was always very sad about it and wish
• 46:54
Speaker 2: that I had siblings. And I would make up scenarios
• 46:55
Speaker 2: where I was fighting over pancakes with my fake siblings
• 46:58
Speaker 2: and my mom would have to separate us. It was
• 47:00
Speaker 2: like very sad only child syndrome, and I would like
• 47:02
Speaker 2: pretend I would be jealous of people who got in
• 47:04
Speaker 2: fights at their siblings. Long story short, my dad had
• 47:06
Speaker 2: two more kids when I was eighteen, so they're my
• 47:08
Speaker 2: half siblings and it has been the biggest gift of
• 47:11
Speaker 2: my life. Obviously you already know you're in contact with
• 47:13
Speaker 2: your half siblings, but I would just say I always think,
• 47:16
Speaker 2: and it's kind of sad about like when we are
• 47:19
Speaker 2: going to lose a parent, which is inevitable and going
• 47:21
Speaker 2: to happen to us, Like, I'm so grateful now that
• 47:24
Speaker 2: I have these other people to have memories about my
• 47:27
Speaker 2: dad with and to share stories and to joke about,
• 47:30
Speaker 2: you know, long after knock on Woody's past, and I
• 47:33
Speaker 2: just think it's it's why you know, yes, it's Pandora's box,
• 47:36
Speaker 2: But I think you're it looks like you're stable enough
• 47:39
Speaker 2: and emotionally mature enough to handle whatever can come your way,
• 47:41
Speaker 2: whatever that might open, And what beautiful things may you
• 47:44
Speaker 2: learn about your parent through these others.
• 47:46
Speaker 1: And that's a beautiful way to look at it, really beautiful.
• 47:49
Speaker 2: I get some great stories and good laughs, and.
• 47:51
Speaker 5: Yeah, why not, Yeah, I would love to have a
• 47:56
Speaker 5: relationship with them, or at least explore the possibility of that.
• 47:59
  Speaker 5: I'm I'm just more concerned. Obviously. I know I'm the
• 48:03
Speaker 5: one with the least amount of pain in the situation.
• 48:06
  Speaker 5: I didn't lose siblings, I didn't lose a father. I
• 48:09
Speaker 5: just want to be sensitive too. I know that they
• 48:12
Speaker 5: might have a lot of emotions wrapped up around this
• 48:15
  Speaker 5: that I don't necessarily have, and I don't want to
• 48:17
Speaker 5: be selfish by, you know, trying to satisfy my own
• 48:22
Speaker 5: just genuine curiosity if it might open a wound for them.
• 48:26
Speaker 2: Do you know if they have interest in communicating with you.
• 48:29
Speaker 5: I mean, it's been thirty six years and they have
• 48:31
Speaker 5: not reached out yet. I know the oldest sibling had
• 48:35
Speaker 5: said when I was born that she did not want
• 48:37
Speaker 5: to have a relationship with me. Obviously, it's been a
• 48:40
Speaker 5: long time, so I don't know if you know they
• 48:42
Speaker 5: might be open to it.
• 48:43
Speaker 1: Now, but I think you can cover all of this
• 48:45
Speaker 1: in an email, like in a letter to them, and
• 48:48
Speaker 1: be very sensitive with it, with exactly what you just
• 48:51
Speaker 1: said to be, Like, listen, I know this is sensitive.
• 48:53
Speaker 1: I want to be sensitive to your emotions and your feelings.
• 48:56
Speaker 1: I know you had some misgivings about me when I
• 48:59
Speaker 1: was born. I don't even think you to say that
• 49:00
Speaker 1: because it was thirty six years ago.
• 49:02
Speaker 2: I mean, people hated my little sister to day she
• 49:03
Speaker 2: was born. She's zero.
• 49:05
Speaker 1: Everyone does you know? My sister hated me for a
• 49:08
Speaker 1: long fucking time too. But you know your situation is
• 49:11
Speaker 1: obviously a little bit different. I think you just go
• 49:13
Speaker 1: at it with sensitivity and love and just say, listen,
• 49:16
Speaker 1: I'm really curious. You know, we share a lot of stuff,
• 49:18
Speaker 1: and I think we can make something positive out of this.
• 49:21
Speaker 1: But I also want to be sensitive to your feelings
• 49:23
Speaker 1: and your emotions and your experiences. I know it's not
• 49:26
Speaker 1: like mine, And if there's any avenue for us to
• 49:29
Speaker 1: kind of get to know each other and spend some
• 49:31
Speaker 1: time together, I would really love to do that, you know,
• 49:35
Speaker 1: and just go at it with like full heart and
• 49:37
Speaker 1: like open arms and see what happens. You know, you
• 49:41
Speaker 1: have nothing to lose.
• 49:42
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking, Like, I
• 49:44
Speaker 5: guess there's no downside. I mean, there's there's nothing to lose.
• 49:49
Speaker 5: There's only something to gain, So you know, I hope
• 49:52
Speaker 5: they would be open to it as well, but I
• 49:53
Speaker 5: guess I wouldn't know unless I try, right and make.
• 49:55
Speaker 2: Can respectfully decline. I didn't realize how different it was
• 49:58
Speaker 2: from my situation, but yeah, I mean, if you're not
• 50:00
Speaker 2: pressuring anyone through an email, through a claud email, right, yeah,
• 50:03
Speaker 2: and you can just say if you're open to it,
• 50:05
Speaker 2: and if you're not. I also totally understand that, and
• 50:07
Speaker 2: I'm excited to hear back from you either way.
• 50:10
Speaker 3: And you might find that some of them are interested
• 50:12
Speaker 3: and maybe one is not, or you know that sort
• 50:14
Speaker 3: of thing, and that's okay too. You know, if there's
• 50:17
Speaker 3: someone who wants to connect, it might have an effect
• 50:20
Speaker 3: on the other ones in the future as well.
• 50:21
Speaker 2: But it sounds like you're having a pin and you're interested,
• 50:24
Speaker 2: So I'd be curious to see, like what your intuition
• 50:26
Speaker 2: and why this is coming up. It'd be fun.
• 50:28
Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel the same way it's been after having kids.
• 50:31
Speaker 5: This past year, I've just really been wondering, you know,
• 50:35
Speaker 5: what are they like? What are their kids like? Are
• 50:37
Speaker 5: kids similar to all these curiosity questions coming out that
• 50:41
Speaker 5: you know, I would just love to explore and see
• 50:44
Speaker 5: if they be open to it.
• 50:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think you give them the option, you know,
• 50:48
Speaker 1: say that too, say that you've had children, like, I'm
• 50:51
Speaker 1: interested in meeting you alone. If you were open to
• 50:54
Speaker 1: meeting my children, that's an option. I'm what like, just
• 50:57
Speaker 1: make them feel like, you know, it's their leisures and
• 51:01
Speaker 1: they're there. Yeah, the balls in their court, like you're
• 51:03
Speaker 1: open to whatever looks good to them.
• 51:05
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 51:06
Speaker 1: I love that anyway, So let us know what happens.
• 51:08
Speaker 3: Okay, I will thank you so much.
• 51:10
Speaker 5: I really appreciate it. It was the encouragement I needed.
• 51:13
Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely, I mean you're lovely, so anyone would be
• 51:15
Speaker 1: lucky to have you as a sister.
• 51:16
  Speaker 3: Go fort Lee.
• 51:18
  Speaker 5: Thank you.
• 51:18
Speaker 1: Okay, you got this, good luck, take care, Thank you guy.
• 51:26
Speaker 2: I really love this is fun.
• 51:28
Speaker 1: It's been nice to give advice and talk to people,
• 51:30
Speaker 1: took to real people that you don't know.
• 51:32
Speaker 2: I love that. I didn't realize like how different Street
• 51:34
Speaker 2: which she was different. It's thinking if she's been if
• 51:37
Speaker 2: it's been like really weighing on her in the past year.
• 51:39
Speaker 2: It's interesting always when things come up to you know,
• 51:41
Speaker 2: it's like when you're thinking about someone, you reach out
• 51:42
  Speaker 2: and they're like, I was, I haven't spoked two years,
• 51:44
Speaker 2: but you've been on my mind, so hopefully Lee will
• 51:47
  Speaker 2: be reconnected. Yeah.
• 51:49
Speaker 1: That's so crazy that you got two little kids like
• 51:52
Speaker 1: in your life when you were eighteen years old and
• 51:54
  Speaker 1: so weird, so.
• 51:55
Speaker 2: Weird, and when my dad told me it was first
• 51:57
Speaker 2: a boy, and then the second one came like a
• 51:59
Speaker 2: year later and it was a girl, and I was
• 52:02
Speaker 2: so unwell when he told me he was having a girl.
• 52:03
Speaker 2: I was like, but that means I'm not your only
• 52:05
Speaker 2: little girl. ND love her like you love me, and
• 52:08
Speaker 2: it was it was not good. But now she's my
• 52:10
  Speaker 2: best friend.
• 52:11
Speaker 1: And does your I know. It's so funny that kids
• 52:14
Speaker 1: are so jealous of like, well you can be like
• 52:16
Speaker 1: thinking that it's going to take your love away, because
• 52:19
Speaker 1: my mom explained this to me once because I was like,
• 52:21
Speaker 1: how can you love all of us? You know, and
• 52:23
Speaker 1: she goes because your love expands, like with each child,
• 52:26
Speaker 1: your love, your heart grows bigger and bigger and bigger
• 52:28
Speaker 1: and bigger, and you just bring them all in. And
• 52:30
Speaker 1: I was like, but you have to love one of
• 52:31
Speaker 1: us more, and she would just tell us I love
• 52:34
Speaker 1: you the most, I love you the most. And then
• 52:35
Speaker 1: I would tell my sister Mom told me. She's like,
• 52:37
Speaker 1: she tells me that every day.
• 52:37
Speaker 2: The best thing about being an older sister is I'm like,
• 52:39
Speaker 2: do you know that Dad told me right before you came,
• 52:41
Speaker 2: no matter what, he's never going to love you. Like,
• 52:45
Speaker 2: and my sister's like, she's like, I have taken making
• 52:49
Speaker 2: it my life mission to like torture them about how
• 52:51
Speaker 2: much he loves me. And for eighteen years it was
• 52:53
  Speaker 2: all about me.
• 52:54
Speaker 3: Well, he loved you for eighteen years before they even existed,
• 52:56
Speaker 3: So there you go.
• 52:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, but exactly, even having siblings, I do you feel
• 53:00
Speaker 2: like there are favorites in the moment, Like I love
• 53:02
Speaker 2: them both to death, but I'm like, oh, I'm really
• 53:04
Speaker 2: vibing with you right now. Actually I'm having a moment
• 53:06
Speaker 2: with you right now, Like it is interesting. I think
• 53:07
Speaker 2: you have like, oh, you're really core and you're in
• 53:10
Speaker 2: a cool age. Yes, yeah, you feel more connected to
• 53:12
Speaker 2: one than the other on a certain day.
• 53:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, And also like, men always say this to me
• 53:17
Speaker 1: when I ask them who their favorite kid is. Like
• 53:19
Speaker 1: I asked men this a lot, doctors and stuff like
• 53:21
Speaker 1: whenever I'm in a doctor's office, and yeah, doctor is
• 53:24
Speaker 1: the ones finger blasting you. And I've gotten this answer
• 53:28
Speaker 1: now three times for men, whoever needs me the most.
• 53:31
  Speaker 2: That's interesting, I know.
• 53:33
Speaker 1: And I was like, men need to be eat it
• 53:35
Speaker 1: right right, But women are very very much they They
• 53:39
Speaker 1: don't like to say that there's a favorite. Men will say, yeah,
• 53:41
  Speaker 1: I have a favorite.
• 53:42
Speaker 2: With whoever's funnier that day and whoever's like down to
• 53:45
Speaker 2: hang out with me, And I like.
• 53:46
Speaker 1: Exactly, exactly right now. Okay, Cameela, You're awesome. I loved
• 53:51
