- Ted Turner: Good evening, everyone. Welcome to Dogs Down South. I'm your host, Ted Turner. And it is Sunday night, overreaction Sunday. from the Georgia, Auburn. fresh off the airplane. just got back in from Athens and man, fun weekend. always a great time when you experience Athens and everything that goes along with it and best college town around period. the outcome, not what Georgia wanted, not what we fans wanted. and we're gonna get into that, but man, just a really you know, you come on here, I heard a couple of podcasters that I follow say it. I thought it was said really well. You know, you come on here and you celebrate wins and you gotta come on here and you gotta you gotta You gotta learn how to lose too, and you gotta learn how to deal with victory. And so we're gonna talk about it today. We're gonna go to we're gonna go to the clinic. We're gonna get checked up today and we're gonna come out better. it's a dog nation. I know it's a tough one. 24, 27. Auburn kicks a last second field gold to seal the deal in Athens on a Saturday where it peaked into the evening time and was Getting towards the area of, I don't know, maybe mid fifties and cool night and didn't play out the the way we wanted it to. But you know, a lot of people are saying different things. Auburn deserved it, you know, Georgia needed a wake up call and Georgia didn't play very well. And we're gonna get into that in a minute when I get into my my coaches from the couch session. but no excuses, no panic and no apologies. in this overreaction Sunday episode. I might get to my power rankings. I might not too on my normal on the normal show, but I'm mad, right? everybody's mad. Everybody's frustrated, disappointed, sitting here trying to figure out how the hell Georgia goes up 14 0 against Auburn at home between the hedges and somehow finds a way to walk off that field and and lose by three. and so a lot of people are like, you know, I mean you saw the game. Right. But you really are asking yourself when you woke up this morning, kind of what I I asked myself, it's like, how did it happen? You know how it happened. You saw it. I was live for it and you know, I I pulled on campus probably mid morning, parked. I was down at Foley Field and sitting there and my family and were kind of getting ready to plan out Our pregame and what started it all for me, it's it gave me a little bit of an eerie feeling is, I see a guy in a boot, very recognizable guy in a boot. It's KJ Bolden. I holler for KJ. He doesn't answer the first time, he answers the second time. takes a picture with me, and then I look at him and I go, Hey man, look he played really well against Alabama. And in my mind, I was like, all right, boots on. This might hurt a little bit, right? I Auburn's had two weeks to prepare for Georgia. This is gonna hurt, KJ Bolden, leader of this defense, a guy who has played out of his mind, in my opinion, this year. has having a really great season. we're gonna talk about it, but he was missed. He was missed yesterday tremendously. so I mean, that kind of starts the scenario, right? you know, and and the how does it happen part of it, you know, you summarize it right, you number one team in the country, you got Sanford Stadium rocking, jump out a two touchdown lead. You spend the rest of the afternoon watching Auburn take control of the game, poor tackling. Missed scheme, turnovers, and and then you turn around at the end of the game and you know, championship teams find ways to win, right? Dogs rescued themselves. Gunnar Stockton offense put together a ninety four yard T D drive. And then we turn around and give Auburn another opportunity, right? Fumble. Penalty at the worst time. Some people have called it a penalty. Some people called it, you know, it was a setup of the time it happened. I mean, it'd been happening all day, but it was a good act by Brown and you know, Gabe Harris had kind of done that a couple of times throughout the night and It backfired on us and then 34 yard field goal. Time expires. McPherson hits it. Ball game, right? It hurts, right? you know, look, we're not here to make excuses tonight. That's just the one thing. We're gonna we're gonna get well tonight and we're gonna move on to our bye week. and I wanna hear about the refs really. I mean, you can question that call. Bad luck. You know, Auburn needed everything to go right type thing. Georgia had opportunities to win the football game, Georgia didn't get it done, period. period. it's all it is to it, But at the end of the day, you're Georgia, right? You play for championships, you recruited at elite level, you have championship expectations. When you put yourself in a position to win a game like this, you got to finish, right? we don't hand out participation trophies in Athens. And me just tell you, I feel like that's where the couch coaches come in. You know, it's like we we start resembling those participation trophy type things and we don't have accountability. We we play the blame game. we don't hang banners because we almost came back. we sure as they don't celebrate 27-24 losses because we made things interesting in the fourth quarter. That's how dog fans will agree with me there. Like that's how they'll take it, right? The rest of the weekend. And this one will hurt because it's gotta it's gotta hang around for two weeks, right? It's gotta hang around, and that's why for for some people it's like this is a little bit, this is gonna sting a little bit more. here's the other side of the coin though. one loss doesn't mean season is over. doesn't mean the program is broken. doesn't mean we need to burn the whole damn building down, right? we're gonna bounce back. I mean, it's be fine. I believe that. I believe this team has the talent to respond. I think we got the players to get better and the opportunity to turn a bad Saturday into a valuable lesson. I really do believe that. But they gotta respond. This has to be a really good week. We gotta get we gotta get well. we need to have some deep dives within ourselves. We really do, I think. before we get into the five things that went wrong, I need to address something that's been it's been driving me insane today. Okay. the coaching hot seat experts are out in full force. I don't get it. Like I don't get it. Social media general managers are clocking in. armchair offensive coordinators have dusted off their headsets and everybody with a phone, Wi Fi connection. your daddy's out in the middle of Monroe, Georgia, absolutely no responsibility for calling a single play. Suddenly all has they got they they got all the answers. All the answers. And they came out in full force, man. I'm gonna read some of here in a minute. you hear fire this guy, bench that guy, blow it all up, the program's cooked. Cooked? we lost one football game. Bad one, absolutely. I don't know if this goes down as one of the worst in Kirby's history. I I don't I don't think you can I know if you can call it that. to play at times to have let's just put it this way, to have as many turnovers and to allow some of the things that were abnormal to see from this team to happen and still have a chance to win, that is one positive that kind of comes out of that game. Didn't finish, obviously. But the positive is to have so many things. Not not go our way, but to have so many self-inflicted wounds to show the resilience to be in that game with an SEC opponent. I it's George Auburn, right? So you gotta throw all the records and you gotta throw all the you gotta throw everything out the door. You really do. is it unacceptable? Yeah, you bet. I mean, I get it. Cooked, I mean that word was used a lot. some of y'all, you know, at like Georgia just lost a division, like I don't know, the division three s like we won we lost to like I don't know, it's like we lost by like fifty. And we're and we're done with postseason play. Or something like that. I can't even explain it. All I will tell you is take a breath, drink some water, whatever you drink. some of y'all were heavy into drinking on a lot of stuff that possibly had you thinking pretty sideways on Saturday night. Go outside, touch some grass. and if you're about to call for somebody's job, at least make sure you can explain what actually went wrong beyond typing just random words and all caps, right? Now don't misunderstand me. At the end of the day. I'm not telling anybody you don't have an opinion, you don't have a you can't cr critique this team. an accountability is necessary, but and and I've even heard it last night. it's like, well, yeah, that accountability to me is a thing because I I pay ticket money and that goes towards your NIL and I pay this, and my daughter Yeah, you you you do, but you don't really write the paycheck. You give it to a university and you entrust it to where it goes. And you call it a day. You don't pay their paycheck. it doesn't come directly from you. So no, you don't pay Kirby Smart's check. You have a you may have a a a little bit of money going towards that depending on how you chose to spend it through through Georgia, but you're not paying anybody's salary. Okay. so let's just get off that real quick. but like there's a difference between holding people accountable and acting like the sky is falling in Georgia. It it really seems like that every time you, turn the corner I sat during the game I sat in front of a couple, yeah, I'm gonna talk about this. I don't know the guy's name, but You're in 337, row three behind me, old guy. It felt like he was in his living room, cropped up in his recliner. And man, what his wife must have to go through on a Saturday every week, because it's either it's never good enough. It's never good enough for him. It's either we're not up by enough or our punter sucks. Our quarterback sucks. At one point in time, I was thinking to myself, Why do you even donate money and come to these games if we suck so bad? If this team is so terrible, why do you come to games? Why do you put yourself through this? Go out, find a project that you can do at night. I don't know. Maybe build a new back porch on your home. I don't know, man. Maybe like fish? I have no idea. But it was just that kind of thing. It's it's that kind of thing that just really rubs me wrong. I have a couple people I follow. If you haven't already done so on TikTok, you can follow us on Dogs Down South on TikTok. But a couple of really good guys I follow on TikTok that said at best. It's just like it's just it just really irks me to see to to just think you don't think these players want to win. you don't like I I'll promise you, I was out and about. Now, I wasn't on the entire bar scene, but it's funny, right? I see K J Bolden coming from Somewhere around the tennis center, Foley Field, heading towards Buttsmere. he's going in early, probably going to get treatment. But I can't I can't, I don't I didn't see one football player out and about at all. And we were out downtown in parts of the night throughout the evenings here or there. And I'll play you don't see the football team. I mean, I think this team is completely dialed in. There is no lack of like get out there and go get it done. There's no like we wanted it. They wanted it more than us. So you're telling me that a team is standing out there going, Yeah, we don't really want it today. I think that's just bogus. Maybe you're not trying to say that and you're trying to say that they, just had a little bit more in the tank today. Maybe that's what you should have said. Maybe that's what you meant to say. But you make it sound like the team goes out there and just goes, Screw it. Let win. Don't care. A lot of people said Kirby's reaction on the sideline was like, he wasn't pumped up. What what? I don't understand. So he's gotta be toxic. He's gotta throw his visor. He's gotta break coolers. He's gotta kick stuff. I can tell you this. It's so funny because y'all wanna hear Kirby so bad, but then you do stupid stuff like record him in the locker room and you think he's gonna you think he's gonna do any of this stuff in public anymore? No, it's even more behind closed doors. Now, matter of fact, you enable him from ways that he can get his team fired up because you do stupid stuff like record him in the locker room. So don't get mad when Kirby's not fired up. And I know maybe you're not the one doing it, but somebody's stup somebody somebody's stupidity is doing it. So sorry if you don't get to see Kirby throwing coolers because I said it he probably wanted to throw a cooler. But he was probably like, I'm gonna probably end up on social media with some negative comment behind me that I'm this, you know, w it just it just doesn't make any sense. It r it really doesn't. being a fan doesn't mean you have to be delusional. I'm not saying that, but it also doesn't mean you have to be a professional doomsdayer. We can acknowledge a bad performance without writing the obituary for the season. And believe me, there are people that are writing it, and there's a lot of people that aren't. But there I can tell you, there's comments right now that have Georgia totally out for the rest of the year. and there are multiple opportunities for Georgia to win this game, even after the self inflicting wound. And Georgia just didn't get it done. Didn't get it done. Let's talk about real quick the five biggest things that went wrong. I want to give them to you. I went back, I watched the game again. I went and watched a couple of YouTubers that break down film, things of that nature, so I could see some stuff in slow motion. And we're gonna get to all that. we're probably gonna do our normal Monday night show. It's an off week, but we're gonna get some extras in here this week and we're gonna talk more. you know, moving forward, maybe do a little extra previewing our next three games, big big next three games, right? y you gotta think that yeah yes, Texas losing, Alabama losing, Ole Miss already had a loss. You know, you gotta think that helps Georgia. but I I don't I don't think you look at it that way. I think you gotta look at every game every week the same way. And Kirby Kirby said it. You know, he doesn't look at he he's got to look at the team that's in front of him. Even even the even when you're talking about Albert, he's already looking ahead to Florida. yes, we're gonna look at film to get better, but but we can't continue. we have two weeks. We have two weeks. We've got to get better, we gotta get well, we gotta get better, and we gotta go beat a good Florida team. so that beat a good Texas team. So, so let's talk about the five things we didn't capitalize on to get it done on on on on Saturday. First thing I have on here is we didn't capitalize on a fast start. Fourteen zero was incredible. I I thought I even looked over it one time and I go, It feels like Auburn didn't even get off the bus. True story. I said that. I said, I feel like Auburn did not even get off the bus. Dwight Phillips Jr., fifteen yard T D rush. in the middle of all that though is when the controversy kind of goes down with the Gunnar Stockton thing. The hit, the helmet, it is he concussed, you know, Peglisi comes in, leads a pretty decent drive. Fourteen nothing though. But remember that spot there because a lot of people are talking about is at the moment where the concussion might have happened. He had the helmet issue, he had to come out, all those things. first play the game. the crowd was fired up, offense was moving. We go up fourteen, and then you have to keep your foot on the gas. We're a Georgia we're we're we are fans and we are people that will say we gotta get off to a fast start. Well they did on Saturday. I almost feel like we didn't know how to be in that position. We've we've not been in that position. We ended up still in the we ended up still not in that position at halftime. But I I do believe if you go back and you watch film, there's a couple of really good plays there. man, the the the halfback pass, we we missed KJ Bolton there. I mean, KJ Bolden reacts way differently to that. That's probably a pick. If KJ's in there, and I'm not making excuses, remember, I'm just we're just calling out the natural things there. We we we run into each other. We we got two defenders there, and we run into each other. you look at 14 points scored by Auburn in the first half, there's an incredible catch in the end zone. That it's like, if you review that one, it's like, how many, how many times do you throw that and he catches it like that? I can tell you, probably one out of five. One out of every five, he catches it like that. That TD off the off the trickery. I think KJ Bolden is not reacting to run on that. you got you got Dink who it's either Dink or Jamari Riddle, who also, by the way, unfortunately, when you look at Dink and Demari Riddle, they tackled just just giving it to you straight. They horrible tackling from those two guys. That does not happen if KJ Bolden is there. So if you think if you think the game doesn't change a little bit with KJ in there, it changes a lot. Okay. So if you don't, if you want to go back and say injuries didn't hurt Georgia and you can't make an excuse, I'm not making an excuse, I'm just telling you what would happen. KJ Bolton picks that ball that was thrown in the end zone. It literally, it was terribly thrown and terribly played. so you know, lesson learned here. Fast start, great, complete performance. Obviously, when you look at it, it's much better. Georgia needs to sustain the opening quarter momentum. and and then sky's the limit, right? I don't think I even think Auburn's gotta get out of there what they wanted to do if we can sustain that lead. They gotta get out of that. number two, I would say turnovers, obviously. Big obvious right here. Gunnar Stockton threw two intercepts, James George lost a fumble. against a conference opponent, SEC opponent, in a rivalry game against the team that you had an opportunity to put away early, against a team that you you can't consistently give away possessions that expect and expect to win football games against, quality SEC opponents. And I and I believe Kirby said it best. we are one humbling moment away every single week. We really are. Quarterbacks make mistakes, they throw interceptions, they make decisions they want back. It happens, but the response to those mistakes has to be better. Like we can't just keep doing it. I mean, and Gunnar bounced back. And nobody will ever know. Kirby's not gonna say as far as you want to Kirby's not gonna say that in a presser after the game. We may learn a lot if he even gives a presser on Monday. But we may learn a lot from that press conference, but we're not hearing a lot of injury news at all this year. I'm sure a lot of us are going, All right, Nate, how healthy was he? I'll tell you, if he's in the game, we lean a lot towards not letting them go than we do letting them go. So if he's in the game, He's he's ready to go. He had a week of practice, he's ready to go. but Auburn did a really good job on with the run defense against us. did a really good job. but once again, it's like when you look back at it, ninety four yards and then you turn around, defense I mean, defense just steps up big time. Which I'm gonna I'm gonna talk about this at the end. But that kind of gets me into my couch coaches. But simple as this, like turnovers You're not gonna beat a quality SEC opponent with turnovers. You're not gonna beat many teams at all. that's how that's how disaster happens. And ask the other seven or eight teams in the top ten, seven or eight, that lost this past weekend. I think I think Miami had a questionable couple of calls come back. Maybe BYU should have probably got a PI at the end. Maybe there's a second on the clock. But you got Notre Dame, who loses? You have Miami, who almost lost. Well, the first place team right now in the AP, loses they went in overtime against Florida State, and there's question about if the last catch was called back. Was there a holding call? Who knows? But they won. Whatever. you know, then you get Georgia loses, and you get Indiana loses, and then you get Texas loses, and then you get I mean, what else? Did you get Alabama loses to Tennessee? I mean, it was it was a day. It was a day for a lot of teams. And there's a lot of teams in the top ten that are having the same day Georgia is. Does it make it right? No. Does it make it easier? No. But I'm telling you, there's gotta be winners and losers. And these are these are young kids who are making a lot of money, most of And yes, we're asking them to be resilient. We're asking them to go do homework and to be ready and be prepared. But at the end of the day, some of those kids are still eighteen, nineteen years old. Figuring out how to fold laundry, figuring out how to keep their room clean, and just figuring out how to right now all they know is football and class and maybe to play a video game or hop on a Snapchat. So, you know, at the end of the day, that's just that's just sometimes how it rolls, right? Third thing I would say that that killed us was defense couldn't get off the field. Third down, third and ten. Third and seven. I it was just a lot of third downs. We just couldn't get off the field. We needed to get off the field. Sometimes there was play calling issues. I know I there was one third second and seventeen. we we just assumed it was pass. We we we allowed so many Byron Brown gut punches. It was pathetic, but I'll leave it at that for keeping the overreaction show as short as I can tonight. But number four, I would say penalties, special teams mistakes cost us one of those penalties came at the worst possible moment. you gave them 15 yards. It definitely made the field goal a lot easier. that it it's special teams blunders. I would even look at, the thirty-four yard field goal that was made, but then you look back at at the at the Peyton Woodring field goal, we didn't need to rush that. we could have called timeout on that. that field goal also came back to haunt us. I feel like we we were frazzled and then we just rushed it, snapped the ball, and we kicked a pretty long field goal that that when we watched the wind was going that direction all all half. And of course, it stopped. So I don't know. I think it might be a spot where you're looking Kirby needs to look and go, time out. I think it's better to to regroup ourselves, make sure this is what we want to do, make sure we want to get this the snap off and that. I just think there was a regrouping session right there, and then definitely when you look at the series at the end where man, you just gotta wonder if you if you don't get those get that call, that roughing call. That and that roughing call was borderline. But I'll leave it at that. And the last one for tonight that I would tell you is is when the game was there to be won, we we didn't finish. We did not finish I don't know. Nobody will ever know but Georgia. we have a half back in the backfield. I'm sitting there going, Man, we run the ball, right? We run the ball. We're in field goal range. We leave it up to our kicker. He redeems himself from the same spot he was in the first half. We walk off, we escape, we win. I don't know if Gunner called that play. I don't know if he audibled and put the ball in his hands and ran the running back out of the backfield. I watched it happen. And then when the snap happened, I'm thinking the same thing too. I'm thinking, okay, Gunnar Stockton with the ball in his hand. This is safe. Loses it on the ground. And then I go back and I recall this play and I'm like, These running backs, that's what they do. They run the football. They do these drills every single day at practice. They've been doing it for sixty to ninety days since camp. Protect the football, run the football between the tackles. I feel like it's been a very strong suit for our running backs to protect the ball. Now am I saying am I going back and saying putting the ball in Gunner's hands? The question that I have, here's the question I have in my hot take is if you're going to Either if Gunnar's gonna audible and you're giving him full control. This is a guy who we are borderline going. Is he suffering from a a mild concussion? Do we think he's concussed? He's been checked out. But if I'm Kirby and I'm Mike Bobo and I see the audible, I'm calling time out there. And maybe we don't have the timeout to waste. I don't know. I can't look back at that, but I will tell you this with what he went through that game with the two interceptions and already the hits he's taken. I gotta think the it's it's better at that point in time, it's better to be in a running back's hands. That's just me. even you know, I just think that that's that's a that's the right call. And we've been in this before. It's like we're scared to burn a timeout. So if if that's me, I I think that's a crucial play. The fumble obviously happened. We had the penalty later on, we lose, so so on so forth. But you know, Auburn wins twenty seven twenty four. Georgia wasn't incapable of competing with Auburn, obviously. Georgia had four hundred and forty yards total of off offense. Three hundred and twenty seven of it was passing yards. they showed they could move the football. They showed they could fight back. They showed it even the failing behind the, you know, the ten points, falling behind ten points, they could put together long drives, you know, and tie the game. It it's just that that's the kind of fight you want to see. That's the positive in all that. Even the self inflicted wounds, we were there. still there in the game. So, you got to make the critical play when the opportunity's there. I probably would have made a different call, but once again though, I'm not going to sit here and call the couch coaches out and then say that I would have done this. You can't just look at a championship team for part of the game. You have to play like one when it matters and I get that. One thing, one kind of caveat I'll I'll throw it in at the end, but you know one kind of caveat that I looked at For Georgia fans, just show you what this looks like is it feels like there's always one game in the mix for Georgia that does this every year. Sometimes it's a close game and that's what that's obviously what you want. You want a close game reminder because anytime you take, you you put down a SEC, game in the middle of the year, it's tough. And I don't know, everybody heard over the weekend this is going to twenty fourteens pretty soon, so who knows? Do we get every SEC team in the playoffs every year? I don't even know anymore. why even play the season? But we can we'll talk about that some other time. But you look at a team that showed the resilience they had and we're still in that game regardless of all the mishaps. that's a team that you're gonna see get better. See you're not gonna see any any anybody roll over. You're not gonna see, you know, this is this is a team that's gonna come out. They're gonna fight. But I will tell you this. At this time they need a fan base that's supportive, right? we're calling for coaches' heads. I'm gonna read some of these comments before I do my last two things. these comments are are just bogus, man. I I can't even and the crazy thing is is when I wanna find them they aren't there. Stockton tripping. Gotta take him out the game, bro. So if you take Gunnar Stockton out of that game, I'm not telling you Ryan Puckle's he wouldn't do it. But for a guy that had a mile concussion, if he did, ninety four yard drive. Defense gets a stop. I think right there we learn a lesson from going. It's just that kind of game that it feels like it should have been a handoff. It just feels like that. Trap game. did they forget how to tackle? we had times where we didn't tackle. man. The play calling isn't up to par with the level of talent. I I don't I don't understand that. I don't understand that at all. I I think when you look at the two interceptions, I think when you look back at the first interception, Gunner did not, he did not look that safety off. He stared that, he stared him down way too long. Probably shouldn't have thrown it. The second one, he had him open. He just he just admitted. He's like, I just overthrew him. Should have hit him in the body. I think he had I think he had Ethan Barbour right and he should have hit him in the body. And then obviously the fumble. I don't know, man. I I I don't know. I mean, I I read some that said, you know, fire Glenn Schumann. I mean, the defense the defense Auburn had two weeks to get ready for Georgia. The defense did what it had to do, what it needed to do it to win the game. Offense, I I thought we If anything I would tell you, maybe Gunnar Stockton does need a little bit. Maybe it's too much on his plate. Maybe he does need a little bit less as far as ability to do what he's doing at the at the line. However, if you win that game, nobody's saying anything. Like it we're not even talking about it if you win that game. We really aren't. So as attractive as that sounds, you really aren't. I'll tell you too, another comment I I read. No, they called out Mike Bobo. Mike Bobo has called some gems this year. I think he had some great play calls. I think Mike Bobo has done everything he needed to do to get this team to where it needs to be. Execution has to come off at some point in time. Execution has to come off. If you'd have told me that off that the Auburn defensive line was going to man up as much as they did. I told you you were a liar. I told you you're liar. fun fact, last time Georgia finished the season undefeated. I'm so sorry. the last time the last time the Bulldogs lost in October to to a Auburn team was 1942. that same year, Georgia went on to win the national championship. A little fun fact there. So. am I saying that's what's gonna happen? No. I'm just saying a little fun fact. That's it. Do I want your comments about it? No. I just said it's a little fun fact. That's it. So where do we go from here, right? Do we spend the next week arguing with Auburn fans on social media? I wouldn't do it. Do we demand that every coach be fired Monday morning? I wouldn't do that either. Do we declare the season over and refuse to watch another game? That's stupid as well. We get back to work, man. We just get back to work. Fans, if you're out there, the best thing we can do is positive momentum, encouraging things on the boards. Get behind this team, man. I mean, so to some of y'all, this is your only this is your only glimmer on a Saturday. Whether your weak goes good or not. it's literally it. It it's literally it. And it's amazing how we will throw it out in less than five minutes. most important question is how does Georgia respond, right? What do we do next? How do we respond? We've got to clean up turnovers, we've got to fix defensive issues mainly in the tackling area. we gotta get the penalties under control. We gotta be we gotta play more disciplined, we've got to find four quarter consistency, we gotta get back to playing Georgia football, physical, discipline. And we we we we gotta get healthy. we gotta get healthy. That's no excuse. But we gotta get healthy. We really do. I'll close with this. you know, as I as I look at this game, you know, I I told you earlier my plane landed probably about four, maybe four o'clock today, got home around five, five thirty, ate some dinner, reminisced on a really good trip. Started looking at game film, started making some notes, started kind of talking about what this would look like tonight. But I would tell you that I would I would reiterate the fact that this team is not done. This team is not done. But this is a big stretch. This is a really big stretch coming up. You got Florida at a neutral site and Mercedes Benz. Then you turn around and you have to play Ole Miss. And then you turn around and you got to play Missouri. This is the, this is probably the dynamic stretch that Georgia has to really get healthy and really rise up. Kirby said it best. He said, I know you guys want to ponder over this one, but I got to look forward. He knows that for Georgia, he has to get this team focused on the next three games. Really, he has to get the team focused on getting better this week, getting healthy this week, and then beating Florida. But on an outside thing that he'll never admit, Coaching staff is he's going, this is it. this is our three team playoff right here. Right? You gotta you gotta go to a neutral site and beat Florida, which is coming off winning against Texas. Then you gotta go to Ole Miss, which is I mean, we're due a night game anytime we could possibly see this happen. And you gotta beat an old miss team that's rising to the top of the power rankings. And then you gotta you gotta come back, you gotta play Missouri at home where we've shown we can be vulnerable. I think this will be a different team the next three weeks, but at the end of the day we still gotta be we we still gotta be We still gotta play on all we gotta hit on all four cylinders. We gotta be up in the right areas and we gotta be we gotta we gotta recover and we gotta we gotta take care of business at the end of the day. But I would tell you as fans, if you wanna sit here and just banter on Facebook for two weeks about how sucky this team is, like, get a grip. It's not that it's not that big of a deal. For Auburn fans, hey man, enjoy it. Enjoy it. I saw Tumor's Cor Tumor's Corner, They rolled Toomer's Corner. I've I've been on the other side of this. I've been in Auburn Stadium when, Auburn felt like they should have won that game, right? Georgia felt like we should have won this game, right? Certain avenues. We were still in it, but we didn't. and a lot of a lot of Auburn fans are like, you know, they needed this. The Auburn fan base needed this. But at the end of the day, you know, I don't feel like that Georgia needed a wake up call from a loss. we didn't, we didn't do enough to win. We didn't we didn't do enough to win in the key situations. That's just how it goes. But there'll be some Auburn fans out there that are that are bad. Yeah, they're they're it's bad. It's bad. But I will tell you, I'm not gonna be that guy that says Georgia beat themselves, but Georgia did have a pretty defining effort towards Auburn getting the win. Let's just put it that way. I mean, both teams had to show up, both teams had to play. but Auburn won. And we had a hand in in Inflicting the wounds for the Auburn victory. So kudos to Auburn. he came out on top. there's a lot of people that are kind of relent, you know, releasing too much stuff. Auburn was the better team. Auburn's not the better team on paper. Auburn was the better team that day. I think Auburn loses that game four out of five times. Now that's the one you got to think about. but Saturday, 17th of October. Auburn came into Athens and they they got out of there with a W by their name. So all right. I think I have some some time left. I am going to release my power rankings for week eight for the SEC, and we'll shut it down and we will drag this out the rest of the week. we're gonna move on and talk some different stuff in our bye week. but furthermore, let's get into these power rankings really quick. All right, so. Sixteen, I got Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt falls to Arkansas. I I this was this was kind of the bottom of the SEC bowl this week. I don't want to give too much to this, but Vanderbilt doesn't get it done. I trusted his coaching staff more than I trusted Arkansas. but Arkansas gets it done, gets their first SEC win in two years, if I'm not mistaken. so that gives me Arkansas finally picked up an SEC victory matchup against the struggling Commodores team. Arkansas needed the win, right? but this is this this puts Vandy at an all-time low for the year. It puts you in a mode of do do they does Vany have a win in the SEC on their slate this year? Fourteen, I got Texas A and continues to disappoint after ending the season with a high expectations. struggle struggle to to generate offense. this team has continuously. even on a bye week, I think they've continuously not much to talk about, but Reed and this this if they got Alabama coming to town and if they stand a chance, this only thing I can say that they have an advantage of is they have two weeks to prepare for Alabama. But i if they can't produce some offense, this is going to be a long day for Texas AM. thirteen man, thirteen I you know I I don't know, man. I wanted to move Auburn up, but and and I think I will. I I think I I I man, I'm literally on air right now live. I I'm gonna move Auburn up. I'm gonna put Oklahoma at 12. I I think Oklahoma with with that loss does I'm just trying to feel like a neutral site, right? I I know Auburn plays LSU this week and some other things get panned out, but give me Oklahoma. At 13, had the opportunity against Kentucky. I think Auburn had the better win this week, obviously. wasn't in that game against Kentucky. Could had the opportunity to get some things accomplished, get done, self-inflicted wounds. Questions are still is John Mateir the guy? Had a big win against Texas. man, it just is struggling on both sides. But 13, give me, give me Oklahoma. I move Auburn up to 12. Auburn gets it done against Georgia. needless to say, they gotta they gotta play they got some games on their slate. They got LSU, they got they got old miss around the corner, so it's a tough slate for Auburn around the corner. But good win for Auburn in Athens. I moved them up to twelve. eleven. Man, I got Mississippi State here. Mississippi State gets thumped by L S U. Who this game was just about as what you could say about it. There wasn't much to it. It was all L SU. that's that's kind of where I got it. I think Mississippi State's got to go back to the drawing board and see is this defense really where it needs to be. but also does every is the highlight reel out there for Camario Taylor. It is the game plan pretty much on tape and ready to rock and roll because last few games it's been like it's non existent. Number ten, I dropped Texas down here, number ten, below South Carolina. I just feel like the spot the back to back games. That you can't over afford to overlook you can't afford to overlook Texas, but this seems like this seems like it's winner go home for Texas. Texas has to win out. They're one and two in the SEC. still got time to learn, still got time to develop, but I just feel like this this this Texas offense is still going backwards under Sarkeesian. When does he give up the play calling duties? He may be forced to give up the play calling duties or they're gonna fire him. nine I got South Carolina. Coming off a bye week, you know, they beat Florida. I kind of got them right here because I just figure Texas needs to go below them because I feel like they had the more impressive victory the last two times around. And they they beat Florida and and then Texas gets beat by Florida. So I just kind of had to move them there. eight, I got the Gators struggling previous couple weeks, but picked up one of the biggest victories of the season in in summer all's, you know, Florida career. Gators deserve credit for taking advantage of the opportunity and beating a Texas team at home. It's a big win for Florida. Obviously, big tests come in. They got to go to Atlanta and play Georgia. It's going to be a big game. Georgia, Florida, and Atlanta. Number seven, I got Missouri, man. Drops number seven after a disappointing. I moved I moved Missouri all up to third. They lose thirty one to three to Ole Miss. Ole Miss is coming around. Are they figuring out some of the things that maybe early on in the season is Pete Golding getting them where they need to go right now? I think so. L SU, I moved them up I'm s I'm sorry. Yeah, I moved LSU up to six. I think when you look at LSU, I mean they're right now they're kind of Jekyll and Hydeish, you know. but you can kind of look at that Kentucky game now and kind of go, Okay, well, you know, c ma maybe the loss to Kentucky wasn't that bad because Kentucky right now is playing really well. either they're playing really well or they got some really good lottery tickets. I got Alabama at five, back to back losses. falling to Georgia last week and then to go into Tennessee and they lose. that's a toughie man. I left did I leave Tennessee out of this? I think I did. No, I just moved Tennessee way up. I moved Tennessee way up. but yeah they they lose Tennessee. I I don't think it I don't I think Alabama and L S U on a neutral site, Alabama wins the game. but I think They got to get some things figured out. They got to get a run game. They got to figure out how to stop the run. They got to figure out how to stop the run. four, I got Kentucky here. I'm sorry. Four, I got Tennessee. I got Tennessee at four. took care of business in at Nealon. Big win over Alabama 26 10. Just feels like Alabama cannot beat Tennessee in Nealan. And it feels like the defense just had their had their number, man. What a what a great show in Jim Knowles and his defense. for and they took a page out of George's playbook. Foster, he ran the ball up the middle all night at will. that was that was the game plan from Georgia as well. So they definitely took a play out of that book. I got I got Kentucky at three, man. While Will Stein has his team cooking on all four cylinders, I really think that's they're for real. They have an opportunity to be an eleven one, ten and two team. I think you gotta start talking about Kentucky as a playoff team. that leaves me at number two. number two, I got Ole Miss. I mean when you look at you know, Ole Miss Florida. I mean you could easily put Ole Miss at one. a lot of the power rankings still have Georgia here. so I'll just kind of go with that. I don't think they've done enough to be below Ole Miss. but but if I could say it it's gonna pan itself out. So I could give it to one or the other, but both of these teams have a lot of a lot of football left. so I'll give it, I'll give Ole Miss at number two. I have Georgia at one. SEC beating up on the SEC. So that's it right there. Forty five minutes. not nothing, not much more to say. At the end of the day, Georgia goes comes out of Athens with a with a loss. a lot of people are putting it as Kirby's worstness it's not. It's not and the sky's not falling in Athens. It's gonna be okay. But the resilience and set some parts of that lineup being as unhealthy as they were, to have the opportunity to win after the self-inflicted wounds wounds was it was there. It was there to win. All right. We're gonna wrap up. It is a bye week for Georgia this week and we need it. We need to get healthy. we'll be going live this week again. We'll be doing our normal weekly show. I'm sure I'll get the guys in here and let them give their Avenue of of Auburn conversation as well. But I got mine out on the on the regular night on overreaction Sunday, George Auburn. But looking forward to seeing you guys the rest of this week on the bye week. Pray and hope we get healthy. We need we we need these guys. We need KJ Bolden. We need we need a lot of these guys. We need Nate Frazier to be a hundred percent. We need Gunnar to be back at 100%, and they will be. and we need Isaiah Canyon, man. We need we need Isaiah Canyon to be healthy. A lot of these guys hopefully will get healthy and hopefully we're a little bit more at full strength versus Florida. So we'll do a lot of previewing of of Florida throughout the next few weeks, obviously. but we're gonna talk a lot of a lot of things off the record as as well as we have a week banter a little bit about the rest of the season and and hopes and 2014 playoffs. There's a lot gonna be talked about this week, but all right. Thanks for joining tonight. Hope you guys have a great start to your week. and even after the loss, as always on Dogs Down South, go dogs.
