- 0:21Hello and welcome back to Remember Why You're Here,
- 0:25a podcast for seekers and sensitives where you can relax, receive,
- 0:29reconnect to yourself and remember the most important thing of all,
- 0:33why you're here. I'm Asia Suler, author,
- 0:38earth intuitive, teacher,
- 0:40and in this episode today I wanted to revisit a message
- 0:45that has really been at the core of the center of my life now for many years and
- 0:49one that I need to hear again and again.
- 0:55Life is just one of those things that continues to happen.
- 1:00I find that being sensitive means not just being
- 1:05attuned to our own journeys,
- 1:08the things that are happening in our personal lives.
- 1:10It's also about being aware of what's happening in the
- 1:15larger community, in the world as a whole in humanity,
- 1:20whether or not we realize it,
- 1:22we're often attuning to these big larger themes
- 1:27around us.
- 1:29I know for myself as I go about my day-to-day, daily life,
- 1:34I can often start to get this feeling like I'm not doing enough.
- 1:39Somehow my ability to show up for the
- 1:44world is not up to snuff,
- 1:46that the way in which I'm showing up in a day-to-day kind of way in my
- 1:51work, in my parenting, in my relationships, in my business,
- 1:56that there's something that I'm not fulfilling.
- 2:00And so much of this comes down to as sensitives,
- 2:04our drive and our orientation to be
- 2:08attuning to other people.
- 2:10This is part of the setup of being a sensitive person and in
- 2:15particular the experiences that we have throughout our life,
- 2:19that we often receive this message that we are most valuable
- 2:24when we are tuning to other people. And this includes relationships in our life,
- 2:28but this also includes wider global patterns, the larger stage.
- 2:34And there's a reality in which as sensitive people,
- 2:37we actually do have a really strong ability to hold
- 2:42compassion, to connect to humanity as a whole,
- 2:45to envision better futures,
- 2:48to recognize patterns of what's happening in the world and have the
- 2:53ability to access visionary states,
- 2:56visionary information to bring in data,
- 2:59to bring in awareness of how to shift.
- 3:02So all of this is true and at the same time,
- 3:05we can also get a little lost in constantly projecting our awareness
- 3:10outwards. And when we do this, we start to self-abandon.
- 3:15And so anytime I start feeling like I'm
- 3:20somehow doing it wrong, when I start feeling like I'm not doing enough,
- 3:24when I start having this stress,
- 3:27like my little life is somehow not up to snuff,
- 3:32I come back to this message, to this transmission,
- 3:36this awareness that has really been at the heart of my work for so long.
- 3:39So let's go ahead and play this audio,
- 3:44what the earth is asking of you so that if you are in a moment of time right now
- 3:50where you are really feeling like you're holding a lot in your heart,
- 3:54you're really wondering how you can show up for the bigness of this time,
- 3:58keep listening because this is your ability right now to connect
- 4:03into the truth of what the earth is asking of you.
- 4:09For those of us with an ecological consciousness,
- 4:13we're always asking ourselves, "What can I do?
- 4:16What can I do to help this earth?
- 4:18What can I do to help the healing?" Often the options or
- 4:23the solutions seem really overwhelming,
- 4:26like something that would be impossible for a single person to take on or would
- 4:30take many lifetimes. But what if there was something?
- 4:34What if there was a solution and something that you could do,
- 4:38something that you could start doing today that would make all the difference in
- 4:42the world?
- 4:43What is this one thing that the earth is asking of you that you can take on
- 4:48today to truly help this planet? Self-compassion.
- 4:53I used to think self-compassion and selfishness went hand in hand,
- 4:58but the exact opposite is true.
- 5:01Self-compassion is about learning to see ourselves,
- 5:05to understand ourselves as a whole part of nature,
- 5:09just as a tree is a beautiful part of this planet.
- 5:12Self-compassion helps us to see the same within ourselves and it helps us to
- 5:17come back into wholeness within our own being.
- 5:20The roots of the problems in our world right now come from
- 5:25fragmentation. It comes from wholeness having been broken.
- 5:30I remember hearing the physician and author, Gabor Mate,
- 5:33describe trauma as a disconnection from yourself.
- 5:38In the moment that trauma happens,
- 5:40the experience is too intense that we can't fully stay with ourselves,
- 5:45so we actually break from ourselves. Now,
- 5:48this is a way to adapt to the stress and shock of this moment,
- 5:54but then we always need to be able to come back on the other side to come back
- 5:58into wholeness. Now, if we look at the world at large,
- 6:01what we see is trauma playing out and basically every
- 6:06manmade disaster and ecological hurt that's going on in this planet.
- 6:11It's the trauma of individuals and whole cultures who are disconnected from
- 6:16themselves, who don't remember their wholeness.
- 6:20When we can have compassion for ourselves, what we've experienced,
- 6:24how we react to things, what's going on in our life,
- 6:28we come back to our own wholeness. We reclaim the wholeness within us.
- 6:33We begin to heal our trauma by simply coming back to this wholeness and
- 6:37reuniting with the width of who we are.
- 6:41And when we can acces that,
- 6:43we can begin to understand the gifts that we were meant to bring into this
- 6:48world to help this planet heal,
- 6:51to help the earth on this journey of regeneration.
- 6:55When we can see and recognize this wholeness in ourselves again,
- 6:59we access the most precious thing of all, which is our gifts,
- 7:03the gifts that we came here to give this planet,
- 7:06the gifts that we are here to translate and bring to this earth to help the
- 7:11earth heal. For this reason,
- 7:13the earth is always reflecting back to us our goodness. The natural world,
- 7:19the living world is constantly showing you your wholeness.
- 7:23It is teaching us self-understanding and self-compassion because the living
- 7:27world, which is much wiser and wider than our own minds and selves
- 7:32knows that self-compassion is essential to stepping into healing
- 7:38personally and globally. So if you need some science to back this up,
- 7:42research shows that increased self-compassion can help us also
- 7:47increase our sense of responsibility towards others, morality and empathy.
- 7:53Stable self-esteem is also positively correlated with things like
- 7:57curiosity to learn new things and a desire to challenge ourselves.
- 8:02If we take all of this as a whole,
- 8:03we see that learning self-compassion is not a side pursuit in the healing of
- 8:08ourselves in the world.
- 8:10It is essential that when we learn how to have compassion for ourselves,
- 8:14we step into our power as those who hold healing and hold gifts for this planet
- 8:19for our communities and for ourselves.
- 8:22Learning self-compassion has been a huge part of my journey here on this planet.
- 8:27If you had asked me 10 years ago if I struggled with self-compassion or
- 8:32self-love, I probably would've told you no.
- 8:34And it was because I was so disconnected from what true self-compassion felt
- 8:39like that I wouldn't have even have known that what I experienced about myself
- 8:44or the way I saw myself in the world wasn't actually my wholeness.
- 8:48I wasn't seeing myself for who I really was. Now,
- 8:52there's a lot of reasons why we can start to doubt our own goodness and lack
- 8:56compassion for ourselves and normally it boils down to some sort of trauma in
- 9:01our life, which all of us have experienced at some point in our existence.
- 9:06But the incredible thing is all you need to do is spend time with the living
- 9:10world and this earth will show you your wholeness again.
- 9:13It will lead the way back to self-compassion.
- 9:16And this is exactly why I wrote my book, Mirrors in the Earth:
- 9:21Reflections on Self-Healing From the Living World.
- 9:24This book is a guide from the living world that takes you on a journey in
- 9:29tandem with nature to go from self-recognition to
- 9:33self-acceptance to true self-compassion.
- 9:37Each chapter will introduce you to the living world to a process that is going
- 9:42on around you to the magic of this earth we call home and it will
- 9:47show you exactly what the earth showed me through all these explorations that
- 9:52you are good, that you are worthy,
- 9:55that you are needed and that you are beloved because at the end of the day,
- 10:00the truth is self-compassion itself is a force of ecological
- 10:05healing. The earth knows this and it's time for us to remember this as well.
- 10:10Your journey of learning to come home to yourself is essential to the whole and
- 10:14I wrote mirrors in the earth to help you on that journey.
- 10:20This piece of self-compassion being a force of ecological healing,
- 10:25self-compassion being the thing that the earth is asking for us has been
- 10:30so essential for me in my life and I think it's really important for us
- 10:35sensitives to remember because the thing is even the fact that we are
- 10:39asking this question,
- 10:41what is the earth asking of me is an indicator of our heart,
- 10:45is an indicator of our compassion,
- 10:47is an indicator of all the ways in which we are actually so dedicated to
- 10:52this planet. I really think as sensitives,
- 10:55we come in with a deep desire to be of service to this planet,
- 11:00that we come in and have this sort of innate
- 11:05deep connection to the earth.
- 11:09And I just really want to take a moment today to honor you for the fact that you
- 11:13ask that question,
- 11:14for the fact that you are curious and just for you to know that the fact that
- 11:18you're asking that is an indicator of how deeply you care
- 11:23and the earth wants you to remember that you are
- 11:28nature,
- 11:28you are the earth and that everything begins from this
- 11:33place of self-compassion. And even though I clearly wrote a whole book on this,
- 11:38it's something that I need to remind myself of again and again and
- 11:44again, because a lot of times those programs of self-admonishment,
- 11:48of putting ourselves last,
- 11:50of somehow feeling like we are doing it wrong, those programs are strong.
- 11:55Those programs can really be interwoven into the fabric of our lives in ways we
- 12:00have a hard time seeing.
- 12:02And so grounding in this awareness every day that one of the
- 12:07biggest gifts you can give this earth is self-gentleness,
- 12:11self-acceptance, and self-compassion.
- 12:15So I'm curious today,
- 12:16what is one thing you can be gentle with yourself about?
- 12:22Is there something that you've been bringing up again and again as a
- 12:26self-criticism today? Is there something,
- 12:28even if it's subtle that you've been putting pressure on yourself around to do
- 12:32or to accomplish,
- 12:34just take a moment right now and notice that voice.
- 12:38Notice whatever is connected to the stress or the activation in your body right
- 12:43now, notice what that voice is saying.
- 12:47And then once you notice what this voice is actually saying,
- 12:51because sometimes we're not even realizing what that voice is actually saying,
- 12:54but once we can tune into what that voice is actually saying,
- 12:58then we can come in with some self-gentleness.
- 13:02Sometimes I imagine that the earth is speaking to me through my voice,
- 13:06sometimes it's a tree or a flower,
- 13:09but I allow that voice to come through and I
- 13:13speak to the part of me that is really trying to keep me safe in so many
- 13:18ways, trying to keep me safe by trying to keep me in line by constantly
- 13:22self-monitoring and I bring in this other voice, the voice of the earth,
- 13:26the voice of the plants, the voice of the angels,
- 13:28whatever works for you and I reply. And in that reply,
- 13:33I try to find any way in which I can just be gentle myself today.
- 13:38Sometimes it just begins with saying,
- 13:40"That makes sense that you feel that way and in this moment I'm going to give
- 13:44myself permission to slow down." That makes sense that you'd be wanting to
- 13:48monitor that right now and right now what's
- 13:53most helpful is for me to remember that I'm just human.
- 13:57That makes sense and for now I'm going to put that thought down and simply
- 14:02breathe.
- 14:03So tune into the gentle response that is being asked for
- 14:08here,
- 14:09that the response that helps that part of you that is constantly self-monitoring
- 14:14to just relax even just 5% here today because I
- 14:19promise you when we can connect to self-gentleness in moments
- 14:24like these, we access so much more creativity, so much more vision,
- 14:29so much more potential and we come back into the on place where we can really
- 14:34make the greatest change in this world and that's within our own
- 14:39selves.
- 14:41So thank you for being with me today as we revisit the absolute need
- 14:45for self-compassion that we sensitives have.
- 14:48And if you would like to connect even deeper with me or even deeper into this
- 14:53space, I would love to see you over on my new Substack.
- 14:57Remember why you are here.
- 14:59There have been amazing conversations around some of these podcast episodes over
- 15:04on the Substack.
- 15:05I've also been sharing extended reflections on the episodes
- 15:10as well as monthly roundups talking about our intuitive readings going even
- 15:14deeper with them at the end of the month.
- 15:17And this week I actually just released a little mini course
- 15:21follow-up episode to our intuitive reading for this month called The Dream
- 15:26Remembrance Recipe because I have gotten this hit
- 15:31that our dreams are coming in this month in a big way to help us
- 15:37really orient to the shifts that we need to make inside of ourselves to
- 15:41fully be in alignment with our paths,
- 15:44to fully be in alignment with kind of the runway that I see is
- 15:49the last half of this year.
- 15:51It's sort of like a runway where so much can happen and so many of the messages
- 15:56that are coming in for us from our own wider self through the earth will be
- 16:01coming in through our dreams.
- 16:03And so I created this little mini course specifically for this month
- 16:08this time to help you really open the portal of your dreams to remember them
- 16:12more to call in some big dreams. So if you're interested in that,
- 16:16head on over to my Substack and check it out. It is a paid post,
- 16:20but it's just $5 a month to acces all of the paid content over there on the
- 16:24Substack as well as that deeper community.
- 16:28So thank you so much for being here with me for this episode.
- 16:32Thank you so much for all the ways in which you are continuing to companion
- 16:36yourself in this life. It's a big deal, it's big work.
- 16:40And as you continue to do this work for yourself,
- 16:44as you continue to show up for yourself,
- 16:46may be blessed with moments of vision and perspective and may you
- 16:51always be able to connect to and remember that most important thing of all
- 16:56why you're here.
