1 Timothy 3:1-3 - "The Heart of a Pastor"

Timothy 3:1: "This is a faithful saying: If a man desires theposition of a bishop, he desires a good work." Now, the word bishophere refers to an overseer, one who has responsibility for the spiritualleadership and care of a congregation. In the New Testament, the terms pastor,elder, and overseer describe closely related aspects of the same ministry. Andnotice that Paul says it's a good work! He doesn't say it's an easy work. And Ican certainly testify to that! Pastoral ministry is one of the greatestprivileges a person can experience, but it also carries tremendousresponsibility.
