Transcript
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the Bougie Multipreneur.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Hilary.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: We're talking about building empires, creating wealth, and doing it all in style.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Today's episode is a must-listen if you're a business owner like me, juggling multiple brands and wondering, how do I manage all this social media for all my businesses without losing my mind?
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: This is what I get asked.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: And I know I have several businesses, and you might too.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: I get it.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: We love running multiple businesses and ventures.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: We need to post all the time on social media.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: We have to engage with all of our followers and also keeping up with the trends.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: It's all can feel overwhelming, right?
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: But social media is a powerful tool for brand awareness to attract clients and sales.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So we have to do it, right?
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: This is what I say.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: It's just you know it's a must.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: In this episode, I kind of want to talk to you about strategies to streamline your social media, repurpose content across multiple brands, and then maximize your engagement while spending less time on these.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: So let's get going.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: So why does social media matter for us multipreneurs?
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Well, it's crucial, right?
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: But it builds a brand awareness.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Each business needs its own presence, but not necessarily on every platform.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: So looking at your brand and where your people are.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: And for brand authority.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: So we need to be posting valuable content so it shows like trust and credibility.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: So these are reasons that we need social media.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: So think about like some of your big influencers or moguls.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: They use personal branding to drive traffic, right?
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: So for instance, um, Rihanna and her Fenty Beauty, like she does things across multiple platforms, and you can do the same.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Uh, we just need to figure out what way is gonna work for you, right?
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: So let's talk about kind of diving into what we need to do and not feel overwhelmed, right?
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Because sometimes you look at this and you're like, this all seems like a lot, and I don't have a lot of time.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: I'm already running all these businesses, right?
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: But we need to step one, I would say, would be define your social media strategy for each business that you have.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: So who is the audience?
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: You know, who is your target?
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: And then what type of content do they engage with, right?
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Looking at their age and everything, where are they gonna do it?
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: What type of content do they like to see?
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: And then what platform makes the set makes most sense, right?
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: So, for instance, in my chiropractic office for Rangeline Chiropractic, we live a lot on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube for like educational type things, right?
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Um, whereas I don't post as much, let's say, on um Pinterest.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: We have a Pinterest account, but that's not where we thrive the most on.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Um, for my business luxury garage events, where it is a facility that we rent out, we have to use a lot of like pictures to really help people understand like what that space could be used for.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Because I'm gonna think garage, they're like, eh.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: So we do a lot of visual things on Instagram.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: And then uh, for instance, this podcast, the Bougie Multipreneur, um, and for my coaching, I do really well with that on like LinkedIn and um maybe my personal Facebook things.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Um, but I personally don't use a lot of TikTok, it's just me.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: And in fact, I don't even have it.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Um, my chiropractic office, Rangeline Chiropractic, we have a TikTok, but the great thing is like I outsource that to my office manager.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: She's younger and far better at TikTok than I.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: So you don't have to be on every platform.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: You just need to know where your audience is, right?
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Like, for instance, again, with my chiropractic, I rarely post on um LinkedIn because like I just don't, it's just not the right area for me for chiropractic.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: But I do like to post on there for my business coaching because I have HHJ consulting.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Um, remember too that you can repurpose and batch your content out.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: So if you're thinking, I just can't do this every day.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Some people they they say they're gonna five times a week they're gonna post, but then they they don't do it or they do it once.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Okay, but it doesn't have to be something you do every single day, right?
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: You can take snippets of things from a long like blog post or podcast episode.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: You can turn that into like five to ten social media posts, you can cross promote between brands.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: So you can talk about self-care on your personal page, tag your chiropractic business in the post.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: And then remember to use this scheduling, the meta business suite for like Facebook and Instagram.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: I know a lot of us use that.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Then schedule things out like that or planally.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: I've used that one and I really like that.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Of course, there's those other ones too, um, buffer and like Hoot Suite, if anyone's still using those.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Um, a lot of things to help you schedule that way.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: You could sit down for a couple hours and maybe you could schedule the whole month at a time, right?
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: So get your content one week or one month in advance, just so you're not last minute, like, oh my gosh, I need to post today.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: I think that makes people stressed out.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: And then maybe they just don't do it at all.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: I love to do um two to four weeks in advance, that's for sure.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: And then, you know, I was telling you that I don't do TikTok, I just it's just one more thing for me to learn, and I just don't want to.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: So delegate it, right?
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Delegate to people, automate some things because your time is valuable.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Time is money, right?
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: And if I'm not the best at TikTok, I'm not going to do it.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: But I am great at Instagram, I'm great at Facebook, I'm great creating events with event brights and meetup.com.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: Like I do all that stuff.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: So think of what you're great at.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: And then if you're not good at something that takes too much of your time, then delegate someone else to do it.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Schedule your posts ahead of time, set up even like auto replies for like your frequently asked questions if they're messaging you and use templates for graphics.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Just keep things automated, delegate things or hire a social media person, hire a VA, someone that can handle that for you, that's good at it, that would maybe take less time than you would.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Because again, time is money.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: So if you're putting in hours per week doing social media and you're not that good at it, anyways, then maybe now's the time to say, okay, maybe I should hire someone to help because you might save more money, even if you're thinking, I don't have extra money to do that.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: But with that extra time, where could you make more money?
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: Think about it that way, too.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Um, even someone to edit videos for you or make some branded graphics that you can use later, things like that.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: I definitely have a social media manager for my main chiropractic office.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: They do most of it, and then I just do some extra things for them and they tell me what videos to do.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: I do the videos and then they edit it for me because I'm not the best at that, and it's okay.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: You we can't be wonderful at everything, can we?
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: So if you are not ready to hire anyone, also use your AI tools, you know, like Chat GPT is great lately, Canva is so easy.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: I'm beginning to be a pro at both of those, honestly.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about even some social media mistakes to avoid, right?
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: So um, here's some common ones.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: Let's try to avoid these things.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Try not to do everything at once, right?
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Focus on certain platforms that bring you the results.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Don't post one thing over 20 platforms and expect to bring in results with that.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Um, you have to engage, right?
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: So don't ignore people posting and asking questions.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: It's social media for a reason.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: You need to be social.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: Um, you have to interact, you can't just post and then never reply or do anything else.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: Also, don't um leave yourself out of pictures.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Like you have to show your face.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: People connect with people, not just a business.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: So you need to be in the stories and even behind the scenes content.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Like, don't use other people all the time.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: They want to see the owner, right?
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: I'm in a lot of my videos, and do I always look cute?
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: No, I don't even care because let's just be real.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: That's just what I look like.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: And if my hair is greasy or messy, I didn't have time to put makeup on.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: I'm still gonna do the stupid video, you guys.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: Who cares?
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: We all go through that, and I don't use those filters because this is who I am in my mid-40s, and I'm okay with that.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: Um, also avoid inconsistent posting.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: So a dead social page will hurt your brand when people are starting to look at it.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: I don't know how many um Instagram and Facebook pages I've looked at at businesses, and it will be like their last post six months ago.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Come on, you guys can do better.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: You know, use the scheduling tool to say like consistent, even if it's just a once-a-week post, then every Monday just have it already going and then reuse some of your posts.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: It's fine.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: Go back to last year and see which posts did well, just reuse those again, you guys.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: It's not a big deal, no one's gonna remember.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: So, I would say, like, the key takeaway keep it simple, strategic, and sustainable.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: So, as we wrap up, managing our social media accounts doesn't have to be so chaotic and stressful, right?
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: When you streamline the the content, you repurpose things effectively and automate what you can, you will free up your time and grow your brands.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: So when you're like, I just don't have time, you probably do.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: You just need to be more strategic and efficient with it.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: That's one thing that I love coaching is like the efficiency and the strategy, if you will, with my coaching clients because I get a lot of shit done, you guys.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: Uh, with all my businesses, people always ask me, how do you do all that?
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: And you have kids because I am efficient.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: I master my calendar, I do things I'm good at, and I don't do things I'm not good at, right?
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: I'm not around, I'm not here cleaning my house every week because that's not a really good use of my time.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: So, all right, back to this.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Sorry, on a tangent.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: So here's an action step for you.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: Let's pick one thing from the episode today and implement it this week.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're setting up a content calendar or outsourcing some social media engagement, or you're repurposing a certain post across multiple platforms.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Pick something today and start implementing it.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: You don't have to do all of it, just start somewhere.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: That's the thing is that people talk and talk and talk, but you have to actually do something.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: You can't just keep planning and talking to do something.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: You actually have to do it.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: So if you need more help, reach out to me.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Uh, like I said, I'm on Instagram, Hillary Hushower Jones.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: I'm on Facebook.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Let me know what you think helped you the most or what you implemented.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: And if you maybe you have a better like action step or a tip that people need to just start, love to hear it.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Again, I don't really know everything.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: I'm just throwing some things out here for you guys because I love to talk on these podcasts.
