Jesus says something extraordinary in John 14: "If you love me, keep my commands. I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Paraclete to be with you forever." Most of us have heard that word — Paraclete — without ever really sitting with what it means. I guarantee that if you've been Catholic for 20, 40, even 90 years, you may have never heard it talked about quite this way. The word doesn't translate neatly into English.
