- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey everybody, welcome in to this edition of Birds Weekly.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It is presented by the Inside the Birds Network. That
- 0:15Speaker 1: man over there is Barrett Brooks. I'm Derek Gunn. And
- 0:18Speaker 1: we are here for a week two preview of the
- 0:22Speaker 1: 1-0 Eagles taking on the 0-1 Tennessee Titans. And Barrett,
- 0:27Speaker 1: we look at Tennessee's state right now. They opened the
- 0:30Speaker 1: season to get the Jets and got blasted 23-10. Cam
- 0:35Speaker 1: Wart was the first overall player taken in the 2025 season.
- 0:40Speaker 1: NFL draft. I looked at some of the highlights from
- 0:42Speaker 1: that game against the Jets. You can see the frustration
- 0:44Speaker 1: on his face. Their Pro Bowl defensive tackle, Jeffrey Simmons, said, hey,
- 0:48Speaker 1: it's no time to panic. But for some reason, the
- 0:51Speaker 1: Titans didn't appear to play with a lot of inspiration
- 0:54Speaker 1: in that season opener, which is somewhat shocking with a
- 0:56Speaker 1: new head coach in Robert Sala.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I was looking at, man, I just didn't understand how
- 1:02Speaker 2: you expect this young man to go out there and
- 1:03Speaker 2: play when you give him absolutely no weapons. You know,
- 1:05Speaker 2: I mean, their best player, probably the best receiver, was
- 1:08Speaker 2: it Calvin Ridley? They did get first round of Cornell
- 1:12Speaker 2: Tate from Ohio State, but he's still a rookie at it.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Then they got Wandale Robinson. But they don't have anything
- 1:19Speaker 2: really to move the needle. They got Tony Pollard at
- 1:22Speaker 2: running back. I guess you can go forward with that. But, man, you're.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Tying a man's hands behind his back.
- 1:27Speaker 2: His offensive line is just not good, man. And they're
- 1:32Speaker 2: starting a rookie right guard. So you expect them to
- 1:35Speaker 2: go out there and play well, but you're not giving
- 1:37Speaker 2: him everything he needs. to really fill up the stack
- 1:41Speaker 2: column as far as scoring, passing yards, and all those things.
- 1:45Speaker 3: So, I mean, they're just not ready at this point. And,
- 1:48Speaker 3: you know, they're in a rebuild. They're in a rebuild.
- 1:51Speaker 1: You know, the Jets racked up 367 yards of offense,
- 1:56Speaker 1: 152 yards rushing. Brees Hall had a field day against
- 2:00Speaker 1: this Tennessee defense, which is somewhat surprising two-folds that the
- 2:04Speaker 1: Jets had so many yards. Number one, Robert Sala is
- 2:07Speaker 1: considered one of the most respected defensive minds in the game.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Number two, Tennessee spent more money this offseason than any
- 2:14Speaker 1: other team in terms of bringing in free agents, especially
- 2:17Speaker 1: on the defensive side. Obviously, you know, we talk about
- 2:21Speaker 1: how it's going to take Jalen Hurts and the Eagles
- 2:23Speaker 1: offense a while to get used to doing what Sean
- 2:26Speaker 1: Manion wants to do. And obviously, with this Tennessee defense,
- 2:31Speaker 1: they really haven't began to grasp the concepts of what
- 2:34Speaker 1: Sala wants to do with that defense.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I don't understand. Like, they had, you know,
- 2:41Speaker 2: I love Sadiq. I wanted to draft Sadiq. You know,
- 2:44Speaker 2: really good tight end. It was their first-round pick. I
- 2:47Speaker 2: thought the Jets did a great job, a phenomenal job
- 2:50Speaker 2: in the draft. So they did. They really, you know,
- 2:53Speaker 2: bolstered up their team in the draft. But not that good.
- 2:56Speaker 2: You know, Sadiq ran a jet sweep for a touchdown.
- 2:59Speaker 2: That's a tight end. Even though he runs a 4-3,
- 3:02Speaker 2: that's still a tight end. And, you know, it just
- 3:04Speaker 2: didn't seem like– Everybody was playing team ball. We had
- 3:08Speaker 2: two guys in one gap. The coverage wasn't any good.
- 3:13Speaker 2: They just didn't play like a team that the defensive coordinator,
- 3:18Speaker 2: one of the best defensive coordinators, he got us out
- 3:20Speaker 2: of the playoffs. The Eagles out of the playoffs. They
- 3:24Speaker 2: weren't playing like a team that coached by a really
- 3:27Speaker 2: good defensive-minded coach. They're at square one again. They're rebuilding.
- 3:33Speaker 2: They're in a point where You don't have a good defense.
- 3:36Speaker 2: You don't have a good offense. You just paid your
- 3:38Speaker 2: all-world tackle, and yet you're still not able to go
- 3:41Speaker 2: out there and have any production.
- 3:43Speaker 3: So I don't know, man.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I mean, they went to the Jets and got their
- 3:47Speaker 2: pass rusher, Jermaine Johnson, and they still didn't do anything. So,
- 3:52Speaker 2: I mean, I liked him in the draft, but they
- 3:53Speaker 2: didn't do anything with him. So, you know, they got
- 3:56Speaker 2: a long way to go, and I'm hoping they don't
- 3:58Speaker 2: get their footing against the birds.
- 4:00Speaker 3: That's all I'm going to say. All right, so if.
- 4:03Speaker 1: There is one bright spot on this Tennessee team defensively,
- 4:06Speaker 1: it's Jeffrey Simmons. I mean, that man is a flat-out
- 4:09Speaker 1: dog when it comes to attacking. We've discussed across the
- 4:13Speaker 1: board the Eagles' deficiency across the offensive line. Now we
- 4:17Speaker 1: know Landon Dickerson has been placed on IR, so he'll
- 4:20Speaker 1: miss at least four games. If you were the Eagles,
- 4:23Speaker 1: how do you attack this Tennessee defense?
- 4:27Speaker 3: Man, you're just going to have to run the ball.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I mean, no matter what's going on, We've got to
- 4:31Speaker 2: block Simmons in the middle, and we have to run
- 4:33Speaker 2: the ball efficiently. There were some tales in this last
- 4:38Speaker 2: game that really showed up, and that's their blocking scheme.
- 4:43Speaker 2: They're not used to it yet. They're used to man
- 4:45Speaker 2: blocking schemes. What I mean by man blocking schemes, they
- 4:47Speaker 2: want to run power, things of that nature. Well, to
- 4:51Speaker 2: run this offense, you've got to be able to zone block,
- 4:55Speaker 2: inside zone and outside zone, and that's what they use
- 4:57Speaker 2: to really get the offense rolling. That's what goes into
- 5:01Speaker 2: their play action. That's how they get big shots down
- 5:03Speaker 2: the field. So they saw some inefficiency in how to
- 5:06Speaker 2: run that. Just make it plain and simple. They saw
- 5:12Speaker 2: how to, you know, Washington saw how to stop it.
- 5:14Speaker 3: What do you do? You run linebackers through the gaps.
- 5:17Speaker 3: That's great. You just run linebackers through the gaps. They
- 5:20Speaker 3: get penetration.
- 5:21Speaker 2: It stops a run and makes Saquon Barkley stop his feet.
- 5:24Speaker 2: That's how you stop it. Well, there are things you
- 5:26Speaker 2: can do for that. You can tighten up your landmarks.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Landmarks meaning where your head goes in this track blocking scheme.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Just tighten them up.
- 5:32Speaker 3: A little bit.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Now if they run through the gaps, you have a
- 5:35Speaker 2: guy there in that gap that can pick them up.
- 5:38Speaker 2: And the same thing will make you laugh and make
- 5:40Speaker 2: you cry because while you're going in that track and
- 5:43Speaker 2: you pick that guy up, that means there's one less
- 5:45Speaker 2: defender in the second.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Line of defense at linebacker level.
- 5:50Speaker 2: So that means automatically if Saquon gets past that first
- 5:53Speaker 2: line of scrimmage, That means he's getting to the safety,
- 5:56Speaker 2: the third, you know.
- 5:58Speaker 3: And once you get to that third level, I mean,
- 6:00Speaker 3: one-on-one with the safety? It's over.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I'll take, you know, Saquon all day. So once they
- 6:06Speaker 2: tighten things up a little bit and they really learn
- 6:08Speaker 2: how to run the offense, how to run the run schemes,
- 6:10Speaker 2: how to run being under center, they're going to be
- 6:13Speaker 2: even better. Now, like it or not, Saquon Barkley, he
- 6:18Speaker 2: didn't lose a step. People think he did not lose
- 6:21Speaker 2: a step. We lost a step on the offensive line.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Win, lose, and step.

- 8:07Speaker 4: Prize picks run your game. Hey, I'm somebody who likes
- 8:11Speaker 4: to work out. I get to the gym at least
- 8:13Speaker 4: three times a week. I try to focus on certain
- 8:15Speaker 4: muscle groups, my arms, my legs, and it used to
- 8:18Speaker 4: be really frustrating for me to find jeans that fit
- 8:21Speaker 4: someone like myself who likes to work out. Sometimes those
- 8:25Speaker 4: jeans can be awkward and tight and you're sitting in
- 8:28Speaker 4: a chair and you're constantly pulling at your jeans, trying
- 8:31Speaker 4: to get them to fit you. Sometimes it feels like
- 8:33Speaker 4: you have to buy jeans that make you choose between
- 8:36Speaker 4: your waist or your thighs. But thankfully I found the
- 8:40Speaker 4: perfect jean. It's different from all other jean companies. especially
- 8:45Speaker 4: for guys with athletic builds. They actually let me move
- 8:48Speaker 4: like a normal human being. I can bend down and
- 8:50Speaker 4: tie my shoes. I can squat to pick up something
- 8:52Speaker 4: without feeling restricted. I can actually do a full squat,
- 8:56Speaker 4: you know, bending down to pick something up without feeling
- 8:59Speaker 4: like I'm about to blow a scene. You know, the
- 9:01Speaker 4: old standard jean sizing, it wasn't designed to fit guys
- 9:04Speaker 4: who squat or deadlift, play sports, or just do anything
- 9:07Speaker 4: that actually builds your legs. But the perfect jean is
- 9:11Speaker 4: designed for just that, for guys like me. Perfect Gene
- 9:14Speaker 4: has six fits. It includes the athletic fit, the slim,
- 9:17Speaker 4: the thick, and the thick thick, specifically built around the
- 9:20Speaker 4: reality that legs and waist don't always scale together. Right now,
- 9:24Speaker 4: our listeners get 15% off their first order, plus free
- 9:28Speaker 4: shipping at theperfectgene.nyc, or Google The Perfect Gene and use

- 9:47Speaker 3: And I'm going to tell you this, Drew.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I think that when you look at the game and
- 9:53Speaker 2: you see how bad Dickerson played, if we'd have went
- 9:57Speaker 2: in and put Kendall in, Drew Kendall in, he's the
- 10:01Speaker 2: backup guard, we'd have scored probably 30 more points. You
- 10:04Speaker 2: take him out in the first or second quarter, we'd
- 10:07Speaker 2: have scored like 30 points.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Easy. He was that bad. And Kendall is not that bad.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Kendall can play.
- 10:13Speaker 2: So we'll add him to the mix since we got
- 10:17Speaker 2: Dickerson on the IR.
- 10:18Speaker 3: We'll have him in the mix. Now I think the
- 10:20Speaker 3: scheme will work a lot better, and we'll have a
- 10:22Speaker 3: lot better production.
- 10:23Speaker 2: It'll be a lot more protection for Saquon and protection
- 10:28Speaker 2: for Jalen Hurts.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I like your positivity, but let me add this caveat
- 10:32Speaker 1: as well. Like I said, the Jets ran for $ 1. 52
- 10:38Speaker 1: against this Tennessee defense. If the Eagles don't run with
- 10:42Speaker 1: efficiency against this particular defense, especially when you think about
- 10:46Speaker 1: the defenses they have coming up after Tennessee, what will
- 10:50Speaker 1: be your initial reaction and initial thought if they struggle
- 10:54Speaker 1: in the run game against this particular defense?
- 10:57Speaker 2: I would look at it as we're going to have
- 10:59Speaker 2: the same thing we had last year. We're going to
- 11:03Speaker 2: have about maybe 17, 18 points a game.
- 11:05Speaker 3: The defense will be balling, but it doesn't matter. You
- 11:08Speaker 3: need two. You need two to tango. And both sides
- 11:11Speaker 3: of the ball need to play in. you know, in concert.
- 11:14Speaker 3: They have got to, you know, get their stuff together.
- 11:16Speaker 2: You got to be able to run the ball effectively
- 11:19Speaker 2: in order for this offense to work.
- 11:21Speaker 3: That's how this offense works. And everybody's saying it's a
- 11:24Speaker 3: West Coast offense.
- 11:25Speaker 2: It's more, it's a West Coast, but it's more geared
- 11:27Speaker 2: towards an offense I saw and I played in when
- 11:30Speaker 2: I was with Denver for, you know, I was there
- 11:31Speaker 2: for a cup of coffee before I went to, before
- 11:34Speaker 2: I went to the Green Bay Packers.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:37Speaker 3: They ran the ball, the zone scheme, and the zone
- 11:39Speaker 3: scheme wasn't for.
- 11:40Speaker 2: The big guys like the Eagles had. That's why I
- 11:41Speaker 2: said they got to tweak it a little bit. They
- 11:43Speaker 2: were smaller guys. Dan Neely, all those type of guys
- 11:46Speaker 2: were small offensive linemen that were quick and explosive guys.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Not the big explosive guys we have. So, you know,
- 11:54Speaker 2: Coach Cooper's going to tweak it a little bit, get
- 11:56Speaker 2: these guys going in the right direction, and then they'll
- 11:59Speaker 2: be okay.
- 12:00Speaker 3: They'll be cool. But they must run the ball.
- 12:02Speaker 2: They have to be effective in running the ball because
- 12:04Speaker 2: everything stems off running the ball with play action, getting the.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Ball down the field. But you saw the bright spot. Yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Jalen Hurts.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Once he made a decision, he stuck to the decision
- 12:15Speaker 2: and made it happen. In the run and in the pass.
- 12:18Speaker 2: If he saw something that was about to open up,
- 12:20Speaker 2: he let it go. Got the ball out of his hand.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Went with the read. I was proud of him that
- 12:25Speaker 2: he did that. When he said, all right, I got
- 12:27Speaker 2: to run, he made that decision. Bam, it was out
- 12:30Speaker 2: the gate. So, you know, there's a lot of positives
- 12:32Speaker 2: in the way Jalen played and the way the offense
- 12:34Speaker 2: played within the framework of what Jalen was doing.
- 12:37Speaker 3: But, yeah, we got to run the ball more effectively.
- 12:40Speaker 1: All right, when you look at Tennessee's offense, Cam Ward, young,
- 12:44Speaker 1: promising quarterback. He took his beatings last year in his
- 12:47Speaker 1: rookie year, took a beating again against the Jets on Sunday.
- 12:51Speaker 1: He was sacked three times, running for his life, only
- 12:54Speaker 1: threw for 140 yards. He had one meaningless touchdown pass.
- 12:59Speaker 1: If you're Vic Fangio, how do you attack Cam Ward
- 13:01Speaker 1: in his offense?
- 13:03Speaker 2: I think you have to attack him like he's still
- 13:05Speaker 2: a rookie because he probably is still a rookie in
- 13:07Speaker 2: his new offense.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:11Speaker 3: He's not going to be effective.
- 13:12Speaker 2: In fact, it's going to kind of hinder his growth
- 13:15Speaker 2: until he learns how to run the offense the way
- 13:18Speaker 2: they want to run it. And he can't run offense
- 13:20Speaker 2: the way they want it until he has some guys
- 13:21Speaker 2: protecting him. Until they get that offensive line right and
- 13:24Speaker 2: they can establish a run game, it's going to be
- 13:26Speaker 2: a long day for him. I like Brian Dable. They
- 13:29Speaker 2: say he's a quarterback guru. He's able to get things
- 13:34Speaker 2: going in the right direction, but I just don't see
- 13:36Speaker 2: him being able to do things effectively with the offense
- 13:39Speaker 2: that they have. They just don't have enough, you know,
- 13:42Speaker 2: as far as game breakers. They don't have enough as
- 13:46Speaker 2: far as influence and defenses to do certain things. You know,
- 13:49Speaker 2: a lot of people, when you see it, you're like,
- 13:53Speaker 2: all right, well, why isn't he throwing the ball down
- 13:54Speaker 2: the field?
- 13:54Speaker 3: Because he has no one right now.
- 13:56Speaker 2: That can stretch the field that really is somebody the
- 13:59Speaker 2: defense is scared of. Nobody's scared of what they have
- 14:02Speaker 2: on the defensive side of the ball, on the offensive
- 14:03Speaker 2: side of the ball. So defenses can pretty much do
- 14:05Speaker 2: what they want to do, call what they want to call.
- 14:07Speaker 2: And they know if they get a little bit of
- 14:08Speaker 2: pressure on them, it's going to stop that offense and
- 14:13Speaker 2: it'll be like they're running in quicksand. So they'll eventually
- 14:18Speaker 2: get it right once they get the players in there
- 14:19Speaker 2: to help them out.
- 14:21Speaker 1: You know, I look at a Brian Dayball and he
- 14:23Speaker 1: falls under the category of, I believe, their coordinators... who
- 14:28Speaker 1: are good coordinators who should not be head coaches. His
- 14:31Speaker 1: tenure with the Giants didn't go well, but he's a
- 14:34Speaker 1: great teacher. You look at what he did in Buffalo
- 14:36Speaker 1: with all the players he had up there. He's a
- 14:38Speaker 1: great teacher, and it's going to take time. You have
- 14:42Speaker 1: two great minds. You have Robert Sala on one side
- 14:44Speaker 1: of the ball, Brian D'Abo on the other side of
- 14:46Speaker 1: the ball, but like you said, you just don't have
- 14:49Speaker 1: the overall personnel. Okay, with that said, give me your
- 14:52Speaker 1: prediction for the Eagles' Week 2 encounter against the Titans.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Nobody loves grilling more than me. It could be 30
- 14:58Speaker 4: degrees and I'll be out there grilling burgers and steaks.
- 15:02Speaker 4: But the one thing that I really can't stand is
- 15:04Speaker 4: losing my fish and my veggies because they just can't
- 15:08Speaker 4: grill without falling through. That's why I've been using Hexclad's
- 15:11Speaker 4: BBQ Collection. It's bringing hybrid technology outdoors with products specifically
- 15:17Speaker 4: designed to make grilling easier, especially when you're cooking foods
- 15:21Speaker 4: that normally don't cooperate on a traditional grill. The hex-clad
- 15:25Speaker 4: BBQ grill pan combines the searing power of stainless steel,
- 15:29Speaker 4: durability of cast iron, and the convenience of nonstick all
- 15:33Speaker 4: in one versatile grill pan. They've also launched their new
- 15:36Speaker 4: BBQ grill topper. That gives you even more control when
- 15:39Speaker 4: you're cooking delicate foods like veggies or seafood, or if
- 15:43Speaker 4: you're cooking multiple portions at one time. Last week, I
- 15:46Speaker 4: grilled the best surf and turf my style, which is
- 15:49Speaker 4: salmon and ribs and lost none of it because I
- 15:53Speaker 4: used Hexclad's BBQ Collection. With over 1 million customers and
- 15:57Speaker 4: more than 50,000 five-star reviews, it's clear people love cooking
- 16:02Speaker 4: with Hexclad. There's a reason Gordon Ramsay uses Hexclad at
- 16:05Speaker 4: his home and in his restaurants, and he's the toughest
- 16:08Speaker 4: critic on the planet. So if you're planning on spending
- 16:10Speaker 4: time behind the grill this summer, don't make it harder
- 16:12Speaker 4: than it needs to be. Stop losing food through the

- 16:36Speaker 4: As I've gotten older, I've really tried to concentrate on
- 16:39Speaker 4: my physical health, my body, making sure I'm putting the
- 16:43Speaker 4: right things in and the healthiest things in. I've always
- 16:45Speaker 4: heard about creatine. but I wasn't really sure about using
- 16:49Speaker 4: creatine supplements until I did the research to find out
- 16:52Speaker 4: what it was really all about. That's when I found Momentous,
- 16:56Speaker 4: which created Signature Spec Creatine, their most advanced creatine ever,
- 17:01Speaker 4: setting a new standard for creatine quality. It's one of
- 17:05Speaker 4: the only creatines to be manufactured in a pharmaceutical facility
- 17:09Speaker 4: using reverse osmosis water purification and verified through an expanded
- 17:14Speaker 4: six-stage testing process with four independent agencies. They've improved the
- 17:19Speaker 4: product experience with ultra fine powder that mixes effortlessly with
- 17:25Speaker 4: no grit or clumping. Hey, look, I like a good
- 17:28Speaker 4: creatine shake in the afternoon and it's got to taste
- 17:30Speaker 4: good and be smooth. The benefits of creatine are very real.
- 17:34Speaker 4: It supports strength, power, lean muscle growth, recovery, and even
- 17:39Speaker 4: improve cognitive performance. And as I get older, all of
- 17:42Speaker 4: those things are so much more important to me than
- 17:45Speaker 4: They used to be. If you want to try Momentous

- 18:08Speaker 3: I think the Eagles win convincingly.
- 18:10Speaker 2: I'm saying they finally get to the 30-point threshold against
- 18:14Speaker 2: the Titans. They scored probably, you know, 30, 31 points.
- 18:19Speaker 2: And I think the defense goes out and hangs up.
- 18:24Speaker 2: You know, usually when you say it's a great defense,
- 18:27Speaker 2: if you can hold a team under 17 points, 17
- 18:30Speaker 2: points is like the universal pointage that, you know, teams
- 18:35Speaker 2: and their defenses put. If you can get, if you
- 18:37Speaker 2: can hold a team under 17 points, then you've won
- 18:40Speaker 2: the game because offense should score more than 17 points.
- 18:43Speaker 2: So that's like universally what all defensive coordinators are looking at.
- 18:46Speaker 2: So I think they keep them under that threshold. I
- 18:48Speaker 2: think they score right at around maybe 17 points, maybe.
- 18:52Speaker 2: And I think the Eagles score right around 31. So
- 18:55Speaker 2: I'm going to say 31-17. Okay.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I like the way you're thinking. If the Jets score 20-what, 23,
- 19:02Speaker 1: Eagles will be able to at least score 27. So
- 19:03Speaker 1: I'm going to go with 27-10. And the touchdown Tennessee
- 19:08Speaker 1: gets will be a meaningless touchdown just to save face.
- 19:12Speaker 1: with their fans. So we will see how it all
- 19:15Speaker 1: plays out. So until next time for my man, Barrett Brooks,
- 19:18Speaker 1: I'm Derek Gunn. This is birds weekly presented by the
- 19:21Speaker 1: inside of the birds network.
- 19:23Speaker 3: We'll talk to you next time, everybody.
