- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Happy Monday, Sooner's on a size softball pod, taken off here.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: We had last week off and viewers of the main pod, you knew with football meeting day on Monday, a midweek game, and then we can see it.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: It was just a weird animation of thing, so hopefully we'll be good.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: Here, I can't tell you next week, Avery is learning this right now, we'll be reporting on Tuesday because the softball team is playing Saturday Sunday Monday against Ole Miss Fund.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: Here, we are right, Chapman here.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: That is Ryan Avery, Avery.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: We had a busy week.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: We opened SEC play, but it was a successful outing for the Supers.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it really was, and, you know, sort of book into the week with just crazy wins on what was it?
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: Wednesday, I guess, against Tulsa, the win was ripping in, although it was really consistent in with ripping in.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: And then yesterday was just Sunday, I'm talking about, was about as wild of a game just from a win perspective as you could ever imagine.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, heck, it took me like,
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: 35 40 minutes to get home from the stadium in the norm and a more because i thirty five was closed down had to wine my way through parking lots and back alleys literally to get back on to the the north side of uh Norman so just a wild one for sure but what stayed consistent is that
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: showed a lot of offense did enough in a circle to come away with a sweep and in a weekend where we finally started seeing some other teams lose around the top of the standings.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: OU was able to stay consistent and come out with a sweep.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll dive in here in a second, but I just, there are so many moments from Sunday, and I'm talking about not even what happened in the actual game.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: If you're just talking about anything that happened on in half road, basically, the Toby Rollins video of the bunting just.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: be like it usually hangs it was blown straight back basically ahead of baseball series family and saying him there's the Abbey Dayton trying to step out and slap in the middle of a little dust NATO that's the one that will probably be the like lasting image of Sunday's game for me but it was Oklahoma they got through it they scored 35 runs across the weekend I'll be
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: Entering the weekend, Auburn was the worst pitching staff in the SEC, not going to change, but I'm not taking away from what comes off, I'm just saying, we know we know the 35 runs when you talk about the SEC pitching, Auburn's not usually who you're talking about, and just candidly, let's get this out of the way first.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: I know that they're on scholarship, but they're kind of being paid a little bit.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: The defense was lacking from Auburn and full credit to Oklahoma for every time there was any kind of blip.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: It felt like the sooner's not just took advantage of it, but press that advantage and seized all the momentum, which is what elite teams do, right?
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: But Auburn's right, Fielder needs to D.P.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: and never play in the field ever again.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: She cost Auburn at least five runs across the three games, and she cost him huge runs on Saturday, and why were they huge runs?
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: Well, cause I couldn't have felt behind Friday and Saturday.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: It was a three run shot in the top of the second that Auburn got on the board on Friday.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: Oklahoma quickly erased that to win.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: And Auburn got up.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: All the way five to one on Saturday Ryan for Oakham started chip away in the third inning.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: Got back was tied and then took the lead in the bottom of the sixth to win that thing eight to five.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: But Patty Gasselman the first thing she said on Friday and Saturday was this team.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: needed to come out and be punched first because that's not something that is far as like a first or second inning they had really fallen behind a whole lot of and they certainly got that from the Auburn bats and that was the large part due to it wasn't many errors or many mistakes but
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: Free passes, haunt, Audrey Larry, early on Friday.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: She's able to get away with that.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: Free passes, certainly haunted Mileywood Chagno and Alyssa Parker was super necessary to come in and settle things down.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: Certainly on Saturday, less so than Friday.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: The often settled things down pretty quickly on Friday.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think Alyssa Parker was a big key to what they did this weekend in the circle.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't really see her at the play a whole lot over the weekend.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: I believe she only had what to it bats went over to with RBI believe in the first game.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: of the series and uh but really big innings for her in the circle uh on Saturday and you know that's somebody that they really need to continue to develop and you know they brought on Kirsten Deel had a couple of good out outings as well I think she's clearly uh heading in a positive direction so they're continuing to build the depth there uh but uh yeah
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: Audrey Lauri, I don't think you were too much about because she's been so good at limiting those free bases all year that I think that was more just a blip and you know you're gonna see them give up home runs and you talked about that all year but as long as they're solo shots
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: you feel pretty good, especially with his offense.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, my little chanel clearly would like to have, and Patty Gessos said this explicitly yesterday, would like to have a lot of the stuff back that, you know, she showed on Saturday as well.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, a big weekend for her coming up that we'll talk more about down the road.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: But, uh,
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, some positive steps for the pitching staff outside of those top two Audrey Glauer was back to be in really good again on Sunday, but you know, this pitching staff continues to sort of push a little bit in the right direction, even if they're not as dominant as we've seen him beat.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that and Patty talked about this for what Shane knows specific and a little bit for Larry that the nerves kind of take hold it's something that's been pretty consistent that a lot of the newcomers at love's field and it's what Auburn's coach talked about on Friday that the noise like they've played at Alabama, which is comparable when you talk about.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: attendance numbers and fans that are in the stadium but the way that loves field is built the fact that it's not a chain link fence out in the outfield with like berm and it's like a slow it's it's a fans on top of you it's high walls and it's fans right in the morning behind the plate that really reverberates that sound.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it holds noise in it, something that Patti Gasso says, every time she's asked her that like, it is world series loud for seven innings, three games a weekend, every weekend of SEC play, which is an adjustment.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: And so, for what Shane and we've seen her, I thought you like a little bit of nerves early in that second night that Arizona game, it was led by,
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: some pitch clock stuff to and then we saw her like rebound and be really really good so I'm excited to see what that looks like it's just for me she cannot walk batters because she hits people when she goes inside it's something we've talked about that fair unfair whatever she's just not able like she doesn't have the ability like odds you're allowed to maybe walk one or two to work around it because she's probably putting two batters a game on base with the coming inside and
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: It was kind of is what it is and that was the difference in Friday and in Saturday right the in Friday It was like any of Auburn's offense after the first one was like a solo shot or stuff like that Whereas they were able to put a couple more on on Saturday would help them get out to a five one lead But the good news is
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: Dilqama offense, I thought it was a really mature performance from my pretty young lineup this weekend, Ryan.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: They fell behind Friday and Saturday.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think you saw over swinging or trying to get it all back in one at bat or anything like that.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: If it was there to punish, Cassidy Pickering, Gabby Garcia, Kindle Wells, they were more than happy to punish pitches that were hanging out over the plate.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: But if not, Oklahoma was also more than happy to draw a walk.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: get a double.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: Have Kai minor just run the bases like a madwoman because she put so much pressure on everybody else.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: Whether it be Abby Dayton, I love to act by on.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was some of the best Oklahoma offenses we talk about the home runs.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think we underrate
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: The plate discipline to draw walks in big moments when everybody else was juiced and wanting to win the game at the home run.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: To just be fine, to trade places with double and double and double.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you saw that immediately from week one of SEC Play, which is a continuation of what we've seen.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: but the competition rises up a little bit.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: It'll rise up again these next two weekends with Ole Miss and LSU and in some road series.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: But that, to me, was the best sign that, yeah, they're still hitting home runs, but they put 35 runs up on the board and the 35 runs were coming from all over the place in all form and fashion.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that was the biggest thing, especially yesterday, you know, they obviously kind of wells had the two big home runs and, you know, those were massive and kind of wells can hit them no matter what the wind conditions are as we've seen, but the way that they were able to to scrape together runs and, you know, stolen bases were a big thing this weekend.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: They had five on Sunday.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: You mentioned Kai Miner and her speed.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's just it's a game changer for them and you know her offense I think is gotten severely overlooked just because of all the home runs coming from everywhere else But you know a really strong performance from her over the weekend by for ten four runs five RBIs And just continue to you know sort of tear things up in the middle of that line up behind
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: all of those bashers at the top of it and sort of I think create a lot for the bottom half where you've got you know hitters like Isabella Emmerling who can be a power hitter but she's shown some versatility to her offense this year I line a agbayani who just continues to produce at every turn and Abbey Dayton there at the bottom.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's a different kind of offense than we've seen from them this year.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: But I think it shows that they can win at a lot of different ways.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: And when the win conditions aren't ideal, when the weather conditions aren't ideal.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: And when you're facing, not that they were facing a fantastic pitching staff this weekend.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: But you can find ways to win even when the ball isn't flying out of the park the way it's been for them all season.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: Who I'm I'm gonna throw you off here going back into the well of owe you softball players that you've covered there've been a lot of who do you like immediately go to when I ask you who's the best base runner that you remember seeing it Oklahoma because I mean even the last five years they've been spoiled jade it was obviously always a threat Riley boon and and I think everything that she was able to I go back to like
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: Browna Tarang and a little bit different style that you don't see as much now of her ability to just slap it into the dirt and boom, she's on second type thing because she's played what?
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: 29 games, give or take, but Kai minor and just it feels like a different threat on the base path than what we've seen and that's not to degrade anyone else.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think that she's been
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: She's talking about it on Friday and on Saturday that she can hit a routine ball to the gap that for most people is a single and she is a triple threat if you don't come up fire and trying to gun her down at third.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, you know, the best ones that stand out to me is the two that you mentioned, Riley Boone with the slapping, things like that, and Jayda Coleman, but she is kind of monitor to different level from those two.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, this goes back to sort of the, you know, that Brianna Terring type of arrow when there was a whole lot more slapping.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: The game was so much different.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know,
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: you don't want your whole order to be like that, but if you can get one or two, especially when there is plus defensively, and plus, you know, speed and base running can be two different things, because Ella Parker is a terrific base runner out there.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you just look at her or still in base numbers and the way that she's able to get it great jumps and really be consistently good there, really throughout her OU career.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, this is, this to me is different
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I haven't been around, oh, you saw Paul consistently, you know, for too long, I'd say really the last six or seven years, but, you know, she's at a different level from anybody that we've seen during that time, just because of the pure like, I mean, I think about the disruptiveness of gosh, what was his name.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gosh, I'm completely blank.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: The base runner who was just a terrific, I mean, heck, Ellie Dale Cruz running right now and the way that any ball hit, even if it's a slow grounder to second, you think he's going to beat it at all times.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's the kind of, you know, Billy Hamilton, thank you.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's who I was thinking of, just the terror that he brought to the game.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, Kai Miner is a player like that who can also do all of these other things in addition to just terrifying teams on the basis.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's not just a, you know, throw out there and ever pinch run.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's a, hey, you can have her out there, you know, consistently.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: And she's going to find ways to get on base and then once she gets there, she's just going to find ways to turn that singles into doubles and triples and, you know, create runs that way.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a Frankenstein's monster a little bit because I think back you talk about like good bass runners we might not think
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: Tiara Jennings is the fastest person.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: She's super athletic, obviously.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: But she, if there was an opportunity to take an extra base, Tiara took it.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: Grace Lyons took it.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: Jada was in Riley Boone, obviously.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: That was one of those, you know, the hallmarks of that Oklahoma team.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: Kinsey Hanson, someone that can hit tanks.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: If there's an opportunity to take an extra base, you just look up and the defense goes, crap, how did she end up at second?
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: We were just trying to like, walk someone back to third.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: You get that with like,
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: Tiara has the power, obviously, but when Tiara, she reminded me of the way that people in the Braves and the Dodgers Clubhouse talk about Freddie Freeman, of how when he goes out for BP, not a single hack is a home run hack.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: He knows I've got that power.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking for hard hit balls to gaps.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what Tiara, for as many home runs as she hit her doubles, I thought we're just as impactful at times, because it was like,
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: The picture's so worried about the home run ball that Tara is like, I'm happy to tee off on this.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's what Kai Biner is kind of showing that if you look at some of the exit vealos, I wish we could get that published for every single thing.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like she is absolutely rip and balls down the third baseline into the the seven eight and then the eight nine gap.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just like, it's almost a detriment.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: If she could take a little bit off of it, the ball wouldn't get to the wall so long and she might have time to round third and get, it was kind of incredible she was doing.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: that once Auburn had the first defensive air that led to her triple, which was technically an air, because no one touched the ball, but we're growing.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think you saw that every time Kai Miner stepped into the box, the outfield was kind of unedged and a little bit yippee, and you're telling me that for the player that is leading the team and batting average, one of the top batting average players in the entire country, who we don't immediately think of as a home run hitter, but everything that she could do.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's like if she also drew a couple walks this week and on top of going 5-10,
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, and then you add on that, oh, by the way, she is surrounded by all of the usual suspects that you're terrified of, the kind of wells, the pick rings, either parker, Gabby Garcia.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: It becomes a situation where I think Oklahoma has very, very quickly gotten back to this mental edge.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: against opposing pitching staffs where I am just terrified for nine straight in the competitor and he was going to get after it, but it's like if I make one mistake, it's going to be an avalanche and that might not carry them in a Texas series.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: It will carry them against 80% of the teams are going to play an SEC play.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: Understand that they don't have Tennessee in the regular season.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, heck, you just look at that that fourth inning yesterday, and yes, Kind of Wells hit the two homeruns that created a lot of it, but between the Kind allows home runs, Gabby Garcia draws a walk, Kai minor singles up the middle, gets Garcia to third, Kai minor steel second, because that's what she does, Lexi McDaniel slaps a
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: They get Maloy, swinging, dating, you know, grounds into a field of choice, Cassidy Pickering, draws a walk, Ella Parker with a hard single up the middle that scores another couple, and then Kindle Wells comes up and hits another just absolute missile of a home run to take the national lead briefly from Megan Grant, because Megan Grant, of course, hit another
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this offense just, it's relentless and it takes advantage of mistakes.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: Heck, we saw a couple of delayed steel things that owe you did over the weekend.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think I know they did one yesterday, pretty sure that was at Saturday's game, that they pulled off one of those as well.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: So that's something that they've been able to do and like you said, just,
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: take a base every time it's available, and the pressure just keeps on you, you can't relax.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, heck, even I'd say it's hard to say, this is the worst hitter in the lineup or whatever, but even Sydney Barker is dangerous in a lot of different situations and can beat you.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: So you can never let up and relax and just catch your breath.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: against this lineup.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's sort of like the thunder when they roll out that second group and you're thinking, oh, hey, she's off the floor.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: Chets off the floor.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: Well, now we've just got to deal with Jared McCain and Isaiah Joe in, you know, case in Wallace and all these guys, Andrew Wiggen or Aaron Wiggen's hidden shots.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: and it just never stops and it just wears down teams.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like you said, Texas is the Tennessee, the Texas Tex are different, but against anybody else, even really, really good teams, it's going to get to you.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to break you down eventually.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: And we've seen this before too, the best of you offenses, when you get like the one in this cultural series level, Texas might have a closer game, but then Oklahoma's able to bash Texas twice, offensively.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: It is not a,
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: foregone conclusion that Oklahoma is gonna have to win games 2-1 or 3-1 at every step of the way in the world series or that kind of thing.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: But I think we all know as you get to conference play in Deeper in the comics when somebody's bigger series, I think everyone patty castle will be the first one to tell you.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: The pitching's got to be better.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think everyone knows that.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was interesting that you got no version on Sunday instead you went with Audrey Lowry
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: If you had told me coming into the weekend, Ryan, hey, you split Friday Saturday, I would have told you that I would project that Lauri comes in and starts on Sunday.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: If you had told me you already had the series, I would have projected that Burzon, but the quick hook probably gets to start on Sunday, and then you could quickly turn into a staff game if it doesn't go well for it.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I thought that was really interesting, and I think it...
- 20:46[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I'm reading too far into this, but I think that Patty Gasso and Carly Keene, know that Lowry needs to be the ace of this staff, kind of like how we had written about a couple weeks ago.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that was almost a, hey, we're not worried about what we saw from you on Friday, but we want to give you the chance to go out and smooth that over and we want you to feel like you're as confident as possible coming out of the weekend.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: as opposed to letting her stew on that for a week.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: That might have been the vibe I got from afar as you were there, but please, please correct me if I'm wrong.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's just seem interesting to not give Burson a shot there on Sunday.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: No one already had the series in your pocket.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's really interesting that we didn't see Brzon at all over the weekend.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I think that was a big part of it with Agilari, and Patty talked about it a little bit yesterday, just sort of flushing that out of her system, again, not that she was bad, but it wasn't as sharp as she's been and letting her correct a couple things.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: So you start building some momentum in her.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we saw that last year with her before the injury.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: that she was really starting to find a comfort level and a rhythm and just how much that kept feeding for her.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: Again, until that injury, when when things shifted a little bit for her and with as young as she is, I think it's important for them to keep building that.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I do think it's going to be really interesting to see what ultimately Sydney Burzon's role is.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: in this group because like I said, we didn't see her at all this weekend, you know, we were able to see Keirsten deal and clearly Patty Gesso has a lot of faith in Keirsten, which honestly a couple weeks ago, I was wondering, hey, is this...
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know, she really going to be viable option for them to use even in mid-week games here moving forward.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: But now she's started to stream together.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: What is it?
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: Three consecutive scoreless appearances for her.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: You know, not giving her a lot of innings, it's just an inning here or there, but that's the kind of picture that they need her to be right now.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: They don't need her to be one that's going to, you know, eat up three or four or five innings.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: They just need her to go out there and be able to get, you know, three or four or five outs and, you know, pass the ball along.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think that petty guys will smartly be in just very, very cautious with that because at this point in the season, if you build her up too quickly as far as the conference goes to have another bad outing and if that
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: Ghost back to square one you like you're not going to have time to slowly as as the midweek games kind of Peter off a little bit toward the end of the year.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: So it'll be interesting to see if that becomes a Hey, they've either built burson or kirsten deal or whoever into a Sunday starter or if they're just going to have to go Lowery, which ain't your lowery and I hope that on Friday's they get in and out fast enough to bring in a list of park because I do think that a list of parker coming in and being your
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: that's the first arm off the bench kind of reliever.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: She brings a fire, but also she's got good stuff and Patty talked about this goes back a couple weeks in the mid weeks and if you're not watching all the videos that we fire out there, just go to Hoops YouTube page, John Hoover Media, that is the YouTube page to search, all that stuff's on there just sort by videos.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: Patty had you know a label she's done out there before for young pictures the she's a thrower right now Not a pitcher which is not like a derogatory thing.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna get her there.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: I did a little check-in on Saturday Just hey You talked about wanting to get her more bullpen time just how is that process going and Patty basically said they're organizing Practice around a little Parker if she needs to be in the bullpin We'll move all our deepened stuff to the end of practice if she's out there with us Then we'll do all of our hitting stuff first, which I think is
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: The fact that Patty gaso believes the freshman is good enough to reorganize her practice schedule around a little bit and also just we didn't even have to ask her she comes in on Saturday gives a good opening statement.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: Patty gaso's the goat at opening statement.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_00]: She hits usually everything you ever need in a game in her opening statement
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: and she talks about Alyssa Parker coming in and how she's so excited that she's in Norman as a freshman because people are going to get to watch this four-year process where Patty but Gatso said she believes Alyssa Parker could become one of the all-time greats at Oklahoma, which
- 25:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Patty does not do the praise thing just for, for fun and games.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like, she, she's seen a lot of good play.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's like Coach Cow when they ask about ACOP and he's like, you know, I've coached like a bunch of these guys, right?
- 25:25[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he's good.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_00]: He's fine.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of how Patty is sometimes.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but to hear her compare Alyssa Parker to Kalani Ricketts, and let's remember as good as players as Patty Gasseau has had over the last few years, and you know, Jocelyn Allo and Lauren Chamberlain and Jayda Coleman, there's a reason why Kalani Ricketts is still in a lot of ways at the top of the mountain, because of everything that she could do,
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, again, we didn't see a lot of Alyssa Parker at the plate this week, you know, that was for a lot of reasons.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think the fact that Lexi McDaniel continues to do what she has done at the plate allows Patty to sort of maybe carve out some more things in the circle for Alyssa Parker and be able to work some of that bullpen stuff that you were talking about.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: But Alyssa Parker has been fantastic.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: I mean,
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy to think about this freshman group and there are a lot of times when leximic Daniel and what she was doing would be the talk of a class for a group of
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: When we talk about what Alyssa Parker's doing, when we talk about what Kindle Wells is doing, when we talk about what Kai Miners doing, it's just incredible, I've said it a couple times, it's an embarrassment of riches.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: for a team that was already as good as them to add these kind of players.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, there's obviously no indication that that's gonna slow down, but Alyssa Parker certainly with everything that she can do, and she's a really good filter out a lot of different places as well.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: She does have a chance to grow into one of those players that we talk about in that group.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: But there's another one of those freshmen kind of wells that's already got to be there just based on her numbers.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Patty Gastro has two freshmen that one of them she said, I've seen Lauren Chamberlain.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen Johnson Allo.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: This is different.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of wells.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_00]: Another one she's talked about being one of the all time grates in Alyssa Parker who is legitimately like when we talk about two way player.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_00]: the fact that it's not just that she's pitching Ryan she started games at first at third at shortstop she's been platooned in the outfield like she is a stop in its second base away from through basically thirty games having played all in field positions and at one of the outfield spots on top of swing like it's like
- 28:10[SPEAKER_00]: legitimate to it's not it's not that pitching and hitting is not legitimate to it's like no no no it's it's everything but cat she she she'll probably hit that before it goes and you look at yeah I think I would love to see her and maybe this is something that you say for her senior year whatever do some was it was it reset with that did it last year uh... there's somebody for Texas did yeah was it um... or give me luck not all look
- 28:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm blanking out, but Alyssa Parker.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: could legitimately do that and be successful at it.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just at it wouldn't be the just a fluke.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: Although, you know, it's always sort of ridiculous to do it, but I always think it's fun when teams do that, try to play a position player at every position in a game.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: I really enjoyed when Mike White did that.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: Was it last year or the year before?
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I didn't think it was Resatwood, but that's obviously the catcher of this first name you pop up or the first thing that pops in your head, but Elizabeth Parker could absolutely do that and you wouldn't feel like you're missing anything.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how she'd be behind the plate, but I can imagine that she would do a bad job because she does fantastically at every where that they put her.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's like Patty said she's an elite competitor like it doesn't really matter what they do We were talking to Nellie this morning on radio and she just said that I don't know how you don't get fired up as a teammate watching Let's a parker basically because she just loves to compete and love to lock in and and this is not like a knock in anybody But it's just kind of crazy that in every person's different that doesn't mean that one person's not gonna peek at the right time or whatever But you look at like some of the
- 30:00[SPEAKER_00]: first weekend as you see jitters for a wachania and you look at a list of parker going out there and doing everything is being nails and maybe that's part of she's had a couple years to know I'm committed to Oklahoma I can visualize this as opposed to what change really I'll hop in the portal on my gosh at local home on my gosh, I'm starting the Saturday game in the first series, but
- 30:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of insane.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get to it a couple other offensive numbers here before we do a little bit of preview in the weekend Ryan.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_00]: I know that you and I try to stay pretty measured.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like I feel like we do a pretty good job of it Not that we've doubted what kind of wells was doing at any point this year, but
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's one of those things of, here are the records.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't usually like to talk about like records and stuff until we get 75% of the way through the regular season or stuff like that.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_00]: Ryan, she's got 21 home runs through what is it now?
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: 29 appearances?
- 30:55[SPEAKER_00]: Is the pitching going to get better throughout the SEC?
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, sure.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: She's got a regional that she's going to have.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_00]: She's got a super regional that she's going to have.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: She's got a bunch more midweek games and SEC series and oh, by the way, what we've seen have kind of wells.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_00]: What was her first laser off of the arm of Kinsey Brown, who's a first team all-american?
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think that suddenly just because she's
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I know that we've brought up a lot that she's nine home runs away from the NCA Freshman Record 29 games.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: And do we need to put a 34 count as she chases down Jocelyn's program record?
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: Because it is, uh, I don't see where she's going to be slowing down here, right?
- 31:43[SPEAKER_00]: It is just continuing to fly out of the park off her bat.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, and to do it yesterday was just incredible with the way that the wind was blowing in.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Auburn hit a home run earlier in the game and it came in a just a really quick I and I just say this because I happened to look at the up at the flagpole Right before she hit it that the wind sort of lulled She hit it and then the wind sort of picked back up again Not that it takes anything away from the home run because it was a blast but Kind of wells
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: you know, there was none of that happening during those two home runs and she absolutely crushed it.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: One just barely got over the fence.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: The second one just barely got over the fence and center, but might have been hit as well as the one that went out of the park, you know, a week before and she just keeps doing it and it's not just the home runs.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_01]: 7 of 12 this weekend had multiple hits in all three games, 6 runs, 6 RBIs, she just is absolutely mashing and in a season where, you know, Megan Grant from UCLA would be just absolutely running away with the home run lead, most seasons.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of wells is is matching her sort of home run for home run almost it seems like Kind of wells will take over and then making granola couple and and jump ahead and then
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: uh... you know uh... it'll go back the other way and that she just keeps on mashing in yes there'll be a wall at some point i still think you know it's freshman it'll happen pitchers will adjust and then you've got to adjust back and it's a process but uh... you know this is as good
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I was around for early in the J.D.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: Coleman and T.R.A.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: Jennings era and for most of the Jocelyn Allow era and you know, you sent something special from those hitters.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: This like Patty Gasser said earlier is different.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's,
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: One of the best hitters, one of the best power hitters, maybe the best power hitter in college, shop all right now, and she's just a freshman, and you've got to imagine, especially with J.T.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: Gasso, working with her in his track record, that she's only going to get better, because there are a lot of things that can get better.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: The average can get better.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: She's still, she's drawn a fair amount of walks, but
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: the eye can get a little bit better and she can learn how to hit as Pat Augusto said a couple weeks ago with two strikes a little bit better and be able to, you know, battle back there and I think her strikeout numbers even though they haven't been big this year can go down even further and it's just scary to think about what kind of hitter she can be and, you know,
- 34:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think we've got to start at least thinking about the record and not only Jocelyn Allows record but the national record in home runs and then maybe you start thinking about that other Jocelyn Allow record if she's able to keep it up.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_00]: Long way away from that.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, here's another thing too.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: She had just a bit.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_00]: She had a hit taken off the board this weekend too, not her fault just to Auburn had a first inning challenge of Cassie Pickering leaving early, which just tells you I think the kind of we can Auburn thought they were in for, that there's like first inning game one, challenge it.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_00]: see what you got going there.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_00]: Also, she had a great pick-off thrown down the second in game 2 that would kind of help flip momentum and she gave all the credit so I want to act by onny who kind of didn't put it in like the perfect spot and act by onny made just an incredibly athletic low key play to grab it and swipe but
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: Although I will say agbani yesterday said that Kindle Wells did put it in the perfect spot.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was patty and Kindle both said it was agbiani who did it and agbi that that's what this team is.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_00]: And again, I'm not gonna anybody last year it was a question mark if the throw whatever get to second at times, which is just something that you're you're getting a little bit of defensive upgrade behind the plate.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see there one last thing I want to touch on, uh, two things, but one last player.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_00]: Abby Dayton as well, fantastic this weekend, three for five, draws three walks, had the two leadoff doubles, one in the third inning, one in the sixth inning on Saturday, which the first leadoff double was immediately followed by a Pickering Homer that took it from 5-1 to 5-3 and we all know,
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: anyone watching this team knows that that becomes one swing away territory and you see people tense up and then the three ending out or three run out first in the bottom of the six that really put the game away at eight five.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like, you know, Abby Dayton moved here and there and around last year.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like Patty Gasso has found because of how good the rest of the
- 36:38[SPEAKER_00]: Squares it up and lines it.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_00]: She can hit a gap.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_00]: She can hit a run.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_00]: She can slap and also, oh, by the way, she doesn't have any ego that she knows me hitting in the nine hole is not an insult.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_00]: It is my ability to turn the line up over with runners aboard.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_00]: She's always had a really good eye at Oklahoma's forest drawn walks because I think that's huge to be able to just say,
- 36:59[SPEAKER_00]: Pickering's really good at the top of the lineup.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_00]: Abby Dayton's really good at the bottom of the lineup.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_00]: And you're going to do your matchup, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_00]: And get a bunch of eight or seven really good hitters in between.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know that.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_00]: But I think it must be pretty comforting for Patty gas.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_00]: So just now I've got my one and my nine figured out.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I can mix and match and do the analytic tweaking that I need to in between.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that's huge.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and Abby Dayton has been fantastic in that role and you've set it right there that you know, she's the Riley Boone of disorder and Riley Boone was so good at turning over the order and letting those the big time hitters at the top of the order.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: And when you've got one like Cassidy Pickering who've been sort of do it all.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, create with the home run, create with gaps, things like that, and just get the hammer out singles when you need or two, then it really helps change the dynamic of your offense.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, for so long, you would have seen, you know, a Cassidy Pickering hit third and Ella Parker hit fourth and just the, you know, the standard, I think what at least I grew up
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: But now the way that coaches are thinking about it, the way that managers are thinking about it, that nine-hole hitter becomes so important.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just that first-it-bad of the game or the first time through the order.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's about the second-third and four times through the order what you can do.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: And Abby Dayton has proven to be incredibly vital with this group.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: and helping to create.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: And you can just look at the run total.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: She scored 30 of them this year.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they heck, they've got what six players who have scored at least 30 runs.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's just unbelievable.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_01]: The job that this offense continues to do and they're going to be
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, before too long, probably in the next couple weekends, climb up to the top 10 run totals of OU program history and start climbing into the national books not long after that.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: The home run totals are already there.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: There are already in the national rankings, as far as the record books for home run totals.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_01]: As much as we talk about this offense and the home runs and the kind of wells and hell of parkers and Gabby Garcia and Cassidy Pickering, it's also players like Abby Dayton who make it just so dangerous.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_01]: because, you know, that kind of hitting, as we talked about with Kai Miner, doesn't slump quite the same as the power can.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's certain, you know, points in the game and certain match-ups, certain weather conditions, things like that.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: It can pretty well continue to produce consistently, and that's the kind of player Abbey Dayton has.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_01]: And,
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: just the emotional lift that Abbey Dayton gives them in much the same way that Riley Boone did.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Riley Boone was really demonstrative at things and you know, she's one of those players that I think opposing fans, opposing teams hate, but you love her when she's on your team and that's the kind of player that, you know, Abbey Dayton continues to be for OU.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_00]: If Abby Dayton was an SEC baseball player, she would be suspended every weekend for what she does to that bat, which is a criticism of the empires and not checks and bullets.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that was...
- 40:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure we'll talk about that on Wednesday.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_01]: We should, maybe the most we'll talk about baseball all year, but how absurd all of that was that happened on Friday night.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_01]: But hey!
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's a SEC baseball for you, that's what happens.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: I was about to say, to me, that was the moment, Oklahoma baseball truly, it strives isn't it?
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: If you haven't gotten into a yelling match with the other dugout in the first game of a series, when you guys haven't played as programs, as series, at least in years and years and years, that is the mark of an SEC baseball program to be able to...
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: uh, I know you said you talked to Nelly.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_01]: Did you talk to skip this morning or is that I can we talk to skip on Thursdays.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll uh,
- 41:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm interested, I heard a little bit through the great editor-in-ass event show of some things that skip out on his mind, but I can't wait to see if he says anything or if he's just like the LSU series starts on Thursday or on the LSU, so we'll see, before we do a little bit of preview, this does kind of lead perfectly into the last little thing, Ryan.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm waited and waited until about this 29 game mark.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_00]: Oklahoma and we all know the deal with the pitching.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's a really really tough to lose Jen Rocha right before the season and continued thoughts and prayers and hope that she's still doing well.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_00]: We knew that it was going to be a growth process with Carly Keeney and that she was going to get better throughout the year and that I think
- 42:03[SPEAKER_00]: Some graces is definitely okay to be had for this pitching staff and for Carly.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a really unique, weird tough situation.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_00]: That being said, JT Castle and this Oklahoma offense have bought them and will continue to buy the pitching staff all the time in the world.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna buy them time-rine all the way up until the women's college world series.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think maybe supers if you get the right matchup but for the most part, because this offense is so good, the pitching staff has until quite literally the last week of May.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_00]: to peek and find their form.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_00]: If you look through some of the NFCA assistant coach of the year, you scroll and you scroll and you see a molest limbarity, you see a couple of gin roaches, one up floor to one at Oklahoma.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_00]: You don't see a gaso in the assistant coach of the year.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's now JT's time, it's he can finally get some of the recognition he deserves because he's had record setting offenses.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_00]: in a weird way that went to gin rocha that year which again the pitching staff is excellent but I feel like it's time for JT Gasso to get some do here.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think everyone around here knows that JT's excellent.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think that everyone across the country knows that JT Texas.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's just kind of insane that JT Gasso has helped rewrite record books over the last seven or eight years and he's
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it really is crazy, especially when you look at it's not just the numbers that they put up.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's the way that he's gone about transforming the way that not only OU approaches offense and approaches hitting in an analytical format and a very sort of scientific look at how you
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a money ball type of aspect to hitting when you talk to OU's hitters about the, you know, working on launch angles and exit v-lose and things like that and the way that they analyze their swings and try to optimize those things for maximum production.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: You know,
- 44:17[SPEAKER_01]: J.T.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: Gasso has changed and it's You know, I think it gets overlooked because he's a gasso and because so many people think oh, you know, it's just patty doing this and you know J.T.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: is just there to do what patty says no a lot of this is J.T.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: Gasso's You know brainchild of
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, this is what we want to do.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: This is how we want to look at things and continuing to evolve that.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: I talked to DJ Gasau about that a little bit last year when they played Arkansas and the way that his brother
- 44:55[SPEAKER_01]: You know, as really, you know, thinks about things in a very unique way and it has how much that is blood over nationally, not only to DJ over at Arkansas and when he was at Utah, but, you know, to other coaches that they're around and there's a lot of coaches who were trying to take similar approaches to it.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: a lot of coaches don't think the way that JT does and I think that deserves recognition and it will continue hopefully to get recognition because like you said, this offense is doing things that have never been done and called softball to this point with a still fairly young group and you know maybe this should be the year especially with their pitching down
- 45:49[SPEAKER_00]: I know this isn't the offense, but I think this just kind of illustrates what you're saying.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_00]: When you pull up ESP and plus whatever, and you look across the country, how many teams do you see that if you're staring in from the hard cam out in center field, the catcher has either a piece of tape go vertically or horizontally across the chest plate and either blue or red,
- 46:12[SPEAKER_00]: JT was the early adopter.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's not JT's idea was some sports science stuff like that, but I think that's just an easy way that Oakland was the first one in major college softball doing that, and that was driven by JT, not chin-roach, chin-roach was cool with it.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think chin-roach is like eat sure JT, whatever you want to do in Lidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidlidl
- 46:40[SPEAKER_00]: if you're looking for an easy way to look across college sop on go jt gasos fingerprints are all over this that that's just one of i think many oh yeah there's there's uh... you know quite a bit of examples that's the most obvious one i think it was a camera for the uh...
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: who pointed that out if it's Kinsey on Twitter recently or somebody else talking about the same thing you're talking about.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_01]: Flipping through soft all games and just seeing those stripes, those pieces of tape down all kinds of, you know, catchers, chest protectors throughout the country and yeah.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a compliment to J.T.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_01]: Gasso and the way that he approaches things, the innovation that he brings to the game, and like you said, hopefully he will start getting some credit where credit has been due for a long, long time.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_00]: should be a fun week ahead, uh, Oklahoma, hitting the road, padded gas a couple weeks ago and said, put the suitcases away.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to have to get them all out, uh, Wednesday.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be in Memphis and then it's the Saturday Sunday Monday series.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_00]: Folks, remember, this is the one shifted back that Monday night game will be on SC network.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_00]: This is the game also on SC network, but my little chain is return to Oxford to Ole Miss.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_00]: I know that you had asked.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_00]: uh... patty gas a little bit about that what would you say about miley and uh... i'm excited for this series just because again nothing it's over and operands offence good offense uh... you know thirty mid-thirties and like batting ever stuff like that but i didn't think that the pitching was really going to show us anything i'm excited to get forward that uh... quite literally every other pitching staff in the league is going to be a little bit better with operands break it
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and Ole Miss obviously with their trip to the Women's College World Series last year.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: They've got some firepower and they can test you.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: Although, first of all, who did Ole Miss upset in the SEC scheduling office?
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: where they have to go, Texas, at Texas, home against Oklahoma, and then at Tennessee in back to back to back weekends after starting against Alabama, SEC.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_01]: So that's as brutal, it's never scheduling an SEC's never going to be easy.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: But when you have those four back to back,
- 49:09[SPEAKER_00]: Bixie for this ticked off.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_00]: Vixie for it's not happy with the Ole Miss Safa was given.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: No, he is not at all.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I asked my ask a pedigasso about Miley with Cheneos return.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_01]: She said it's going to be a big test for her.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_01]: And she didn't really back down from the importance of it.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: Said that, you know, Miley needs to let it go and let the team sort of take over that burden.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: of the return she says she knows you're going to be you know around friends and that's going to be built up and you know there's things that are inescapable about to make a net return but the biggest thing for her she just said Miley would chain you needs to get back to pitching the way that they know she can and that we've seen from her you know so often this year but she's not going to back down from it I would anticipate seeing her in that Sunday slot this week with the you know
- 50:08[SPEAKER_01]: pushback schedule with the Saturday Sunday Monday schedule that you mentioned.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_01]: It is interesting to schedule that they go to Memphis on Wednesday and have to come back for a couple of days to Oklahoma.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_01]: I can't just hang out in Mississippi in the Memphis area to go right back to the Memphis area to take on Ole Miss in Oxford.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_01]: Our friend, you know, Brock over in the OSU Sports Information Office was one of
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: They're meant to just let them hang out around Memphis for a couple of days, maybe you know, hit one of those casinos around there something like that, but they're going to make that trip.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_01]: But should be an interesting one.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's always interesting to go on the road in the SEC and with Ole Miss starting Owen 6 in conference play, you know, they play Texas, you know, down to the wire and that opener on Friday before.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: The long horn sort of open things up a little bit more offensively over those next couple of games Ole Miss certainly needs to get some positive Momentum going there, but it's going to be really hard for them Over, you know, not only the next six, what's going to be as difficult as any as you go from facing OU's offense to Carlin Piggins and Texas or in Tennessee, excuse me and what they're doing but they've got
- 51:31[SPEAKER_01]: A&M and LSU, and then, you know, it's not until Auburn, as much as you can say, Auburn is a chance to catch your breath that, you know, they can sort of let up a little bit.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a brutal thing for Ole Miss, but, you know, nobody's going to feel sorry for you in this league, and certainly not Patty Gesso in that OU offense, because they're going to look to, you know, make a statement in Oxford this weekend.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they will not be feeling bad for you.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_00]: Got my Vick Shaper slash Dodd-Stayley paper roll ready to rock and roll.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if mine's going to have as much wear and tear as Vick's.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_00]: Not hanging out a lot in what is it all of branch where we have hung out way too much throughout the first couple years of the SEC.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_00]: It should be fun and here's anything too.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_00]: Patty Gasso has already coached like a Kelly Maxwell through maybe the toughest example of going back to for sure favorite former team.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think it's going to be now that was a home, as opposed to road.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_00]: I also don't think that the feels are as
- 52:33[SPEAKER_00]: harsh between what Cheyenne and Ole Miss is they were with Kelly and still water going to Norman obviously.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: So you think that was harsh?
- 52:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I look at his hands.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_01]: We're feeling some kind of way about it.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's weird.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_00]: I ask he, well, I ask he, a career.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_00]: He certainly didn't, he, he doesn't know anything about having a legacy in two different play.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like what it means to win a national championship at what, wait a minute.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_00]: Um,
- 52:56[SPEAKER_00]: good dude, Kenny.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_00]: But as far as that goes, it'll be interesting to see, and just lastly here before we dip out something to monitor, maybe not monitor.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_00]: Mississippi State with that walkoff when over Tennessee, Oklahoma and Tennessee do not play this year.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_00]: As we kind of mentioned a couple of times, at least in the regular season.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're looking around and trying to eyeball some heads up stuff, we know Oklahoma and Texas, not that it's going to work itself out, but they will have a chance heads up to play.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_00]: Each other as it comes to SEC standings for regular season, and all that stuff, but
- 53:31[SPEAKER_00]: for Tennessee, Oklahoma has nothing that they can do to, you know, play Tennessee heads up and drop in one game.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_00]: We saw that last year.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_00]: A&M drops one game that they didn't think they were going to drop and I know that part of it was due to a rainout or a cancellation so you go to win percentages out of straight up wins, stuff like that.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_00]: But we know in this league, every single game matters.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're, if you're
- 53:53[SPEAKER_00]: already looking down the line for standings when it comes to heads up and all that stuff uh, Tennessee's one game, back technically even though Kulmus only played three games because I don't know if anyone that uh was gonna game plan them to not sweep.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, to be state if you looked at it a couple months ago before pickins is and you're I know that she had like returned but she's not pitching the same workload that she normally would have uh, you would have thought like two months ago.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's interesting also looking at most of the polls aren't out yet, obviously I'll round those up Tuesday morning like I do every week when the NFCA poll comes out.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_01]: But the softball America poll is out, and Tennessee stayed atop that, which was interesting.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_01]: I thought maybe Texas would jump up there and grab that spot, especially with Texas Tech, drop in a game in sort of blowout fashion this weekend
- 54:46[SPEAKER_01]: Kennedy got banged up a little or got banged around a little bit.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_01]: Alabama won their series against Arkansas, but did drop a game there.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_01]: So it's going to be interesting to see, oh, you could see a move up a, you know, a spot or two, they moved up one spot in that's a softball America rankings, you know, usually those rankings are maybe a little bit different.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_01]: from say the the NFCA ranking so it's going to be fascinating to see how those play out this week is oh you as a chance to finally move up a spot or two after several weekends of having nobody really in that top six drop any games.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_00]: and JT Gas is gonna hate us saying this, but we'll add an RPI watch element to things here in a couple of weekends.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_00]: For Oklahoma, the first RPI calculations were made, and unfortunately for them, the rest of the SEC played an SEC weekend, or Oklahoma didn't, which absolutely nuked their strength of schedule, strength of record, stuff like that, just because they had had their extra buy week of games, as opposed to, you know, Tennessee taken on, well, as it, Texas, the South Carolina, Tennessee was taken on,
- 55:58[SPEAKER_00]: LSU, the opening weekend.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, one of those things where I don't think it's as informative now as it will be by the end of the month, JT GASO will yell at me for even considering putting an RPI watch in there, but unless you give us all the logins for six or three charts and all their stuff, then we do with what we can do with in the publicly available stuff, but
- 56:18[SPEAKER_00]: Should be good, like we mentioned next week, we're planning on doing this on Tuesday and said a Monday, purely because we'll be waiting for game three of the only Ole Miss series, but we'll be here to recap it all.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_00]: We will be back on Wednesday and full in this feed for the series on SI podcast, which will be everything Oklahoma and we'll be talking a lot about
- 56:38[SPEAKER_00]: Porter Modeser and the decision that was made there, Jimmy Brown checked the path forward.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, we'll have some football talk coming off of Pro Day, which we were at last Thursday and as we alluded to earlier, a busy busy eyebrow raising in a good way for Oklahoma weekend at Kimory Family Stadium on the baseball time.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_00]: Before Ryan Abe or I'm Ryan Chapman, thanks so much if you enjoy this and you have friends that you know, be sure to share it with them because I know it's not in separate feed, but just let them know, hey, the Ryan and Ryan show is here, they are talking softball all year long to a big deep guys on the local sooner's cause, we love talking about it, we love covering it and we love giving that out to you guys well, but
- 57:15[SPEAKER_00]: For Abraham, I'm ride Chapman.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_00]: Be good.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_00]: We will talk to you on the surface on iPodcast on Wednesday.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk to you here on the soon as on a site softball pod next Tuesday, win Oklahoma and Ole Miss Kidactor.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_00]: See ya!
- 57:26[SPEAKER_00]: Have a good week everybody!
