- 0:00Considering recent events, you got to lead comfortably with a
- 0:02handful of laps to go back your mind.
- 0:05Are you thinking like what? What's going to happen here?
- 0:09OK, Deja vu for sure. Yeah, I mean, that did that did
- 0:13kind of go through my head, right.
- 0:14Just just trying to, you know, it's normally in my mind's like
- 0:17just get to the white and now I'm less like, I don't care
- 0:20about getting to the white, let's just get to the checkered.
- 0:21And yeah, I just, I don't know, it's kind of normal thoughts.
- 0:25But then the pain of two weeks ago, it just always pops up in
- 0:28your head. But I tried to forget about it
- 0:29and just focus on, you know, the gap we had and try to keep it
- 0:33and and all that. But yeah, I had some thoughts of
- 0:37that. Luckily tonight it went
- 0:38smoothly. And then your crew chief comes
- 0:41on with like 5 laps to go or thereabouts and says you're good
- 0:43on fuel. Did you chuckle laugh.
- 0:45Painful memory there. Or no, I didn't.
- 0:47Think about it. No, I didn't even think about
- 0:49it. I don't say.
- 0:49I don't even remember him saying that, really.
- 0:51I figured we were. But yeah, I didn't.
- 0:55I didn't even. I don't even remember him saying
- 0:57that really. And obviously, now you're locked
- 0:59in the playoffs. But I mean, points are breathing
- 1:01tight now. You're kind of off that playoff
- 1:03bubble. But as things have unfolded the
- 1:04last few weeks, have you been paying more attention to the
- 1:06bubble and what your position was?
- 1:09Yeah, I mean, I don't, I don't look at it like every day.
- 1:12Like I'll look at it Sunday night when it comes out.
- 1:16When when, when y'all put it out and and OK, there it is like,
- 1:20and I don't really pay attention to it the rest of the week, but
- 1:23I did you know it, it was concerning when we had that
- 1:27stretch of bad races like Darlington wrecking wrecking
- 1:31early at Charlotte, not finishing well at at gateway.
- 1:35I was like, man, we're kind of getting a little close to the
- 1:37cut line, but we had a good day at Sonoma and kind of buffed it
- 1:42and then tonight we had a really solid night.
- 1:44So I I did look at it a second. I was like, man, it got to just
- 1:47be like, we don't have a lot of wiggle room left, you know, and,
- 1:51but I don't really pay attention to that stuff too much.
- 1:53I look at it once and and then figure out, OK, can I get to
- 1:56these guys in front of me this weekend?
- 1:58Maybe if I'm a few points away and you think about that kind of
- 2:01during the stages and stuff. But other than that, I don't
- 2:04really look at it. So it's nice not to have to look
- 2:06at it in that regard anymore. You just try to see where you're
- 2:09at in points for for playoff points, stuff like that go.
- 2:12To Bob and then Jerry. Bob Pock versus Fox.
- 2:14Sports. I have two.
- 2:15The first maybe a variation of question I've probably asked you
- 2:19before, but do you? Did you handle the last two
- 2:22weeks since the pain of losing Gateway differently than you
- 2:27would have a year ago when you weren't a past Cup champion?
- 2:32Yeah, probably a little bit, yeah.
- 2:33I feel like I handled it better. Just like shit happens, you
- 2:38know? Like, you know, just trying to
- 2:39take it a little bit easier as far as that stuff goes.
- 2:42It's like, I think a lot of last year taught me kind of our
- 2:45season and then the playoff room we had and into the
- 2:47championship, like ups and downs, just trying to get better
- 2:50in the ups and downs like through the week and post race
- 2:52and stuff like that. And not just beating yourself up
- 2:54over things and you know, and just sticking with, you know,
- 2:58things and looking forward to going in the next week.
- 3:01And last year taught me a lot of that, I feel like.
- 3:03And so I've tried to apply it this year as far as like, you
- 3:06know, you have a bad run. Even when we wrecked at
- 3:08Darlington and Charlotte. And like I wasn't, I was bummed,
- 3:11but I'm not like festering over for days on end.
- 3:13I just, I kind of just move on from it and figure out how do we
- 3:16need to get better. And, you know, honestly, those
- 3:19two weeks were Darlington, Charlotte, where we wrecked out.
- 3:21We, you know, really were like, hey, what do we need to do to
- 3:24get better? And then ever since then, like
- 3:25we started running good Gateway Sonoma here.
- 3:28We've been running really well the last three weeks.
- 3:29So proud of that, that that my guys didn't get down.
- 3:33You know, I'm bummed out that we weren't finishing races very
- 3:35well. They just figured out how to get
- 3:37speed and, and we found it and it was nice to execute one
- 3:41tonight. So yeah, it don't bother me too
- 3:42much and. Considering how the track race
- 3:45today, should they finish the paving job or should they leave
- 3:48it the way it is? I I thought it actually raced
- 3:52pretty good. Like I don't know how it looked
- 3:53on TV to everybody. No good.
- 3:57Yeah, good. OK.
- 3:59I thought it was pretty racy. You know, we were way up there
- 4:03in that 2nd lane, which are essentially kind of made it 3
- 4:05lanes because you had the bottom, then you could straddle
- 4:07the seam and then you had guys in the the full top.
- 4:11So, yeah, it honestly, it exceeded my expectations as far
- 4:14as raceability. Good cars could pass people and
- 4:17you had different lanes. And so, yeah, I mean, the crowd
- 4:20tonight was awesome. I mean, packed house.
- 4:23That doesn't make you want to come back here.
- 4:24I don't know what will. And so, yeah, I don't know if
- 4:26they really need to pave the whole thing.
- 4:28I thought it did a good job tonight, but that's above my pay
- 4:30grade. Go.
- 4:31To Jerry and then Kelly and then Phillip.
- 4:33Jerry Jordan kicking thetires.net Normally it seems
- 4:36like it's your teammate when we first go to a new track or some
- 4:39new pave or whatever that's getting sitting up there.
- 4:41But you've tonight mark your your name in the history books
- 4:44as the first winner of the Cup race here.
- 4:45How's that make you feel? And you know when you're coming
- 4:48away from here. Yeah.
- 4:49I mean, it's, you know, Joey's won a lot of those inaugural
- 4:53races and I honestly, yeah, they do a great job and everything.
- 4:56But I think us as a organization like Penske, we do a really good
- 4:59job of preparing and planning and going through some work,
- 5:04really, really utilizing, you know, tire tests, wheel force
- 5:06tests, you know, figuring out a good game plan before we get
- 5:08here. I'm not taking anything away
- 5:11from the 22 team, but I think as a whole company, we do a good
- 5:14job at these places we go to for the first time.
- 5:17So that's something to be proud of In our, our group, all the
- 5:20team Penske, they, they work really hard to try to be ahead
- 5:22of the game. I think our SIM work and, and
- 5:25all that stuff is really good and engineers and crew chiefs
- 5:28are great. So I think it's a huge testament
- 5:31as an organization as well. And and for you, you've
- 5:35mentioned when Jordan asked you a while ago about the wind being
- 5:38locked in. How big of a relief is it to get
- 5:40the wind and to be in the playoffs?
- 5:42It's always nice, you know, I mean, it's just it's nice not to
- 5:45have that in the back of your head, you know, if you get tore
- 5:49up and a handful of races, like you're not biting your nails
- 5:52off. So it's just nice to do it.
- 5:55And, and honestly, I just think it, you know, we've been close
- 5:59to two or three this year, you know, barely, barely losing
- 6:03Atlanta, you know, having gateway kind of sealed up and
- 6:06and that happening and, you know, not kind of seeing where
- 6:10we could finish. I thought like where we got
- 6:11wrecked at Texas and Darlington. I thought we were really good.
- 6:13I would like to see what we could have finished.
- 6:15So it just felt like we could never really get the runs we
- 6:18deserved or just, you know, crappy things would happen to us
- 6:21and we just couldn't really finish it out.
- 6:23So it was nice to just finally have one, you know, the night go
- 6:28pretty smoothly. Us get better through the night.
- 6:31They did a great job of getting better.
- 6:32Honestly, Friday I didn't feel very good.
- 6:34I thought I wasn't very confident in the speed in our
- 6:36car and and we really went to work.
- 6:38My guys did and got a lot better qualifying to the race and got
- 6:42better through the night. I didn't think we were great at
- 6:44some points of the night, but the last two runs were
- 6:47phenomenal. So yeah, it's just relief.
- 6:50Nice to get back in Victory Lane, nice to get forward back
- 6:52in Victory Lane. It's cool to win with Advance
- 6:54Auto Parts, their first win with them as a primary.
- 6:56They're great people. So on a short track, the short
- 6:59track pros. So it was nice.
- 7:02Go to Kelly and then Phillip and then Dustin.
- 7:05Kelly crandallratio.com Ryan over the radio after the
- 7:07checkered flag, I think it was Jonathan who had said you guys
- 7:10have talked about being a team of the summer and here you are
- 7:12clicking one off now in June. So is that, is that the motto
- 7:15now, going back to what you had said earlier about just what you
- 7:18learned last year about trying to go through the ups and downs
- 7:21and pushing through this stretch of the season to get to the
- 7:24postseason? Yeah, I mean, we didn't have a
- 7:26great summer last year. You know, I mean, after after
- 7:29Gateway last year, we had like two months of just not running
- 7:34good at all, like no pace, not finishing races.
- 7:37I had to hear stuff from you all all summer that we sucked and we
- 7:41did. I mean, we, we just weren't very
- 7:42good and and we were trying some stuff, but we just wanted we
- 7:46fixed that. I mean, we talked about that in
- 7:47the offseason. Like, you know, hey, let's,
- 7:49let's focus on these summer months.
- 7:50Let's not go through that little dip like we did last year.
- 7:54Just just trying to, I don't know, utilize the summer months
- 7:58a little bit better than what we did.
- 7:59So yeah, that was that was cool that we were able to achieve
- 8:03that because we worked really hard on it trying to be better
- 8:06at this point of the year at A at a better time than than last
- 8:09year. So yeah, hopefully that's
- 8:12hopefully that continues so. That was an actual conversation
- 8:15during the offseason. Has that come up at all over the
- 8:17maybe the last couple weeks? Or anything.
- 8:19Yeah, it came up, I mean, when we had a few bad races in a row,
- 8:21you know, got wrecked out, stuff like that is you know, But yeah,
- 8:24it was mainly just kind of talks with our group, our whole team,
- 8:28you know, looking forward to being a summer team.
- 8:29Let's because when right, you every offseason try to fix
- 8:34things, right. What did we not do well in the
- 8:36prior year? And that was one of them like
- 8:38that we had a bad summer and let's let's try to fix that.
- 8:41How do we how do we do that? How do we learn quicker to to be
- 8:44more competitive through the summer months?
- 8:45So it's nice when you just kind of set goals like that as a team
- 8:49and then achieve them. That part's good go.
- 8:51To Phillip, Dustin and then Jeff.
- 8:54Ryan Phillip Jones from the Des Moines Register again, you know,
- 8:57I'm kind of focusing on on local stuff here.
- 8:59And you said yesterday that you had 80 friends and family here
- 9:02because, you know, your mom being from Sheridan.
- 9:04Can you talk a little about what it meant to win here now for the
- 9:09third time? And also, I forgot the
- 9:13second-half of my question, to be honest.
- 9:15Yeah, I can. I can talk about that.
- 9:18Yeah. I mean, it means a lot.
- 9:18I mean, yeah, I have tons of family here.
- 9:21See, my mom's just from right down the road.
- 9:22So we spent a lot of time up here in Sheraton and Ankeny and,
- 9:25you know, really cool to to have them all out and support me.
- 9:30And they were here in 2012 when I won my first truck race.
- 9:32They were here in 2015 when I won Xfinity race, and they were
- 9:35here tonight. So it's just cool to have a
- 9:38family like that. I'm, I'm pretty fortunate, you
- 9:40know, to have a family and friends from here that that are
- 9:43so supportive, you know, and that that part's cool.
- 9:46I'm happy we got them all across the racetrack to get to Victory
- 9:49Lane. I didn't know how we're going to
- 9:50do that, but they all made shirts and, and I guess they
- 9:52believed them. So track officials will believe
- 9:54them. So it was, it was cool, very
- 9:57special. And and I have my family here.
- 9:58I wish Gianna was here. But yeah, having all them
- 10:00support me is is awesome. That's, that's, that's what I
- 10:03was thinking. It was, you know, if you could
- 10:04talk just real briefly about time that you spend in central
- 10:07Iowa when you were young. Yeah.
- 10:09I mean, we've come up here Christmas every year, which a
- 10:13little bit different this time of year.
- 10:14It's, I'm not going to lie to you, it's brutal up here that
- 10:18time of year, but I liked it. I mean, I, we used to drive here
- 10:21from North Carolina, which was a long car ride.
- 10:23But yeah, just like I said, my mom grew up here.
- 10:26My my grandparents lived here for a long time.
- 10:29So I just, I just enjoyed the area and it's just as a kid,
- 10:33right? It's just a fun, fun area.
- 10:34It's different. It's grandma's house, so you can
- 10:37see her cousins. My mom has a big family on her
- 10:39side. So and you know, as you get
- 10:42older, right, kind of grow apart a little bit as far as like
- 10:45cousins go and you move different States and you don't
- 10:47see them as much. You don't go to family events
- 10:48like you used to as a kid every year.
- 10:50So it's all nice to see them come together and and we can
- 10:53celebrate something. Dustin Long, NBC Sports.
- 11:00This being a first event, obviously you guys race a lot of
- 11:04same places week over week over week.
- 11:08Was there any different feeling? I I know the process is is still
- 11:12the same from week to week but I didn't know if there was a
- 11:15different feeling being on Pit Rd. or beforehand or getting
- 11:19here of just the the entire experience of this being
- 11:22something new this weekend. I, I think the biggest thing
- 11:27that jumps out to me like obviously the on track stuff is
- 11:29what it is. I, I try to come into these
- 11:30things with an open mind because I don't know how much you can
- 11:34trust SIM, right? Just scanning.
- 11:37I went here at a test, I raced here nine years ago, but it's
- 11:41completely different, so I couldn't rely on that.
- 11:42So I just came here with an open mind.
- 11:44You know, how how are we set up compared to other tracks that
- 11:47are similar to this? It's kind of all I could do.
- 11:49Like I didn't even run SIM before I got here just 'cause I
- 11:51didn't want it to mess with me and I just wanted to see it
- 11:54first hand and and then go through it as a driver.
- 11:56So, you know, that part's always a fun challenge on Friday,
- 11:59Saturday through the race, a lot of unknowns and I think teams
- 12:02like that, drivers enjoy that challenge.
- 12:05But I just think the atmosphere around here this weekend was
- 12:07awesome. Like, when was the last time
- 12:10Xfinity and Trucks ran here? It was 319, Yeah.
- 12:13So I mean, to have a NASCAR race back in general, let alone a Cup
- 12:17race, like, people are psyched about that out here in the
- 12:20Midwest who might not get to go to other races through the year,
- 12:23you know? So when we left in 19, maybe
- 12:26they didn't go to a race. You know, they can't couldn't
- 12:28travel to go to a race. So it's nice to bring that back.
- 12:30So I mean, the crowd, the stands being packed, you know, tells
- 12:34the story. And from my side, that's, that's
- 12:37a cool atmosphere, you know, and makes it seem like we're doing
- 12:40something right, you know, coming to these tracks and
- 12:41putting on good shows for fans and they're dedicated.
- 12:44So that vibe I really like. I mean, whenever you go to a new
- 12:46place, it's a it's a new feeling, right?
- 12:49You're not here, you're not really used to it all the time
- 12:52as opposed to tracks you go to every year, maybe twice a year.
- 12:56It's always nice when when we can experience this.
- 12:59Can you give me a sense you last stop was 2 tires and most other
- 13:05than Joey and Ricky the other, everybody else is on 4 tires.
- 13:08The challenge, especially after the way this weekend started,
- 13:12how difficult was it on two tires toward the end?
- 13:15Or was it that big of a deal because obviously you still wear
- 13:18it or when? Yeah, when Jonathan said two, I
- 13:22was like, well, that's probably a good idea.
- 13:23We don't have a ton of laps on our lefts.
- 13:25Less weren't wearing a ton. I knew there was a long run to
- 13:28the end and you don't know who else is going to take two.
- 13:31I mean, you have no idea. Some guys maybe running 15th on
- 13:34back want to take two, get track position.
- 13:36But I think only a few of us did and I just didn't know how they
- 13:40were going to fire off handle. We weren't on two all night
- 13:43before that point. And then later in the run I
- 13:49tried my best to save early because I knew when I got to lap
- 13:51traffic. That's where I struggled in
- 13:54stage two when I got to lap traffic when I was leading I the
- 13:57nine and the five frame me down because I I use my stuff up
- 14:00early and I couldn't pass any lap cars.
- 14:02So I tried to learn from that a little bit, try to keep a gap to
- 14:04the 24 like pretty consistent and I'd push my stuff to to have
- 14:07something for the lappers. And I was honestly, I was
- 14:10starting to struggle a little bit like tend to go.
- 14:12I was like, oh man, I'm I had I had to push harder to keep my
- 14:15pace and I was it was really working hard in there to kind of
- 14:19keep my pace to keep the gap from to Byron.
- 14:22But you know, I mean I was it was a good call getting us in
- 14:24clean air. I mean, 4 tires, 2 tires, I feel
- 14:27like we would have had a pretty good shot to do it either way
- 14:30because I felt like I was better than Byron.
- 14:34Chase was really good late in the run.
- 14:37You know, he was that way in stage two.
- 14:39But I felt pretty good compared to Byron and I raced him earlier
- 14:41in the race and then I thought we were a little quicker than
- 14:43him. But yeah, just good call getting
- 14:45us some clean air and then trying to manage and and hold
- 14:47on, you know, the last last 10 laps or so.
- 14:49I'm. Going to go over to Michael and
- 14:52then Caleb. Michael Massey front stretch
- 14:55earlier, early in your career, a lot of your wins were like, you
- 14:59know, take the lead in the last 10 laps or maybe just not not
- 15:02lead a ton of laps to get the win.
- 15:04But now it's like 3 of your last four wins you've LED over 140
- 15:08laps. You're just dominant wins.
- 15:11Is that more fulfilling First off and 2nd is are you and your
- 15:15team? Do you feel like you're like
- 15:16hitting another level of like greatness now?
- 15:21As far as being more fulfilling or not, I'm not really sure.
- 15:23I don't think so. I mean, a win's a win, you know,
- 15:25you, you get excited for it no matter what, no matter how many
- 15:30laps you lead. The only odd one was like the
- 15:33Rovel. I didn't know how to feel about
- 15:35the Rovel in 2018. It's just a weird, that's a
- 15:37weird one, right? But no, I feel like our team is
- 15:42like firing on all cylinders. I mean, it's our group of I got
- 15:45a great group of folks on the 12 group, you know, I mean, the way
- 15:50we ended last year, I mean, those guys are rock stars.
- 15:53And, and we came into this year with, you know, a lot of
- 15:55confidence that hopefully we can, you know, make another run
- 15:58at it again. And, and I think it's just a
- 15:59matter of working hard and and putting in the effort because,
- 16:04you know, we weren't very good at the beginning of the year.
- 16:06All the fours were kind of struggling and, and, you know,
- 16:08they just tried to figure it out, you know, trial and error,
- 16:11trial and error. And sometimes you find stuff,
- 16:12you know, and it's you want things to happen quicker or
- 16:15sooner or faster. Like we need more speed now,
- 16:18this weekend, right now. But I've tried to be patient
- 16:19with it if it's a process and it takes time.
- 16:21And I think we kind of handled it that way and we were very
- 16:25mature about it. So I applaud our guys of, of
- 16:27just sticking to what they do and, and really focusing on
- 16:30their craft and not getting all spun out if we're not winning
- 16:33right away. So hopefully we can continue
- 16:35that. But now I got a great group
- 16:36around me. I couldn't ask for more.
- 16:37Jonathan's awesome. Everybody pit crew guys are
- 16:40fantastic. So it was nice to finally win
- 16:42with him. First one with Tim Fedwa, the
- 16:44new spotter. So I'm I'm jacked about that.
- 16:46That was cool. So Tim is a good guy and and
- 16:49it's nice to share and win with him.
- 16:52Cable vesselspeedwaydigest.com Kind of bouncing off Dustin's
- 16:55question earlier, you know, we had five blowouts in practice
- 16:59and 7:00 throughout the race. I'm I'm just curious how what
- 17:03was that in your mind knowing that tires could could be an
- 17:06issue and. All that yeah.
- 17:09I didn't know we had that many in the race.
- 17:10Honestly, I I had no idea. I mean, it was in the back of my
- 17:14mind a little bit, but I figured like second stage, we went like
- 17:21101 laps I think green. And after that I'm like, all
- 17:23right, we'll be fine. Like at least at least
- 17:26personally for me, like I could kind of save my right front.
- 17:28I wasn't just just destroying that thing.
- 17:31So our car was good enough to where I could kind of manage it.
- 17:35But yeah, I mean, even at the the run at the end of the race,
- 17:38like it was 80 something laps, 85 laps or so, that thing that
- 17:41went through my mind is like some of my blow tire.
- 17:42We're kind of getting late into the run, but I think night,
- 17:44night time kind of helped. It cooled everything off.
- 17:47But yeah, luckily we didn't the two blew a tire in practice, but
- 17:51I think we learned from that of OK, we know what they were
- 17:54doing. It's kind of steer away from
- 17:56that to where hopefully we don't have an issue.
- 17:58And luckily, luckily, our cars, none of our cars did that going
- 18:01to. Go to the far left and then
- 18:03we'll go to Dustin. Ryan Clayton Sampson with K and
- 18:08I Careless Radio out of Knoxville.
- 18:11You spent some time in Knoxville over the last couple days for a
- 18:13fundraiser and you know you have a connection with your dad being
- 18:15a Knoxville Nationals winner. Can you kind of talk about what
- 18:17the biggest positive was of being able to spend an extended
- 18:20period of time in Iowa over the last couple days?
- 18:22And also, do you hope that they have a Cup race here next year?
- 18:25Yes, I hope they have a Cup race here next year.
- 18:27I hope it comes back here for a long time.
- 18:29Oh, it's just nice to be up here.
- 18:31Like I said, I mean, I spent a decent time up here as a kid and
- 18:35yeah, I went to Knoxville last night.
- 18:36We had a little charity event and I stayed for the races.
- 18:39So it's always nice to see. It's been a handful of years
- 18:41since I've been in Knoxville. Yeah, it's just a nice area.
- 18:46I mean, it's fun. A lot of cool racing goes on,
- 18:49you know, in in this area. And so it it is a special place
- 18:54and very dedicated races up here.
- 18:56You have a nice combination of dirt racers, diehards at
- 19:00Knoxville and then 20 miles down the road you got this place, you
- 19:03know, and I think that's it's good, right, because you're
- 19:05going to get each group to each racetrack, right?
- 19:10Like I bet, I bet tons of fans who came out here today, a lot
- 19:13of crew guys I know went to Knoxville.
- 19:14I bet I would hope some Knoxville fans came here today.
- 19:17You know, it's just a crossover is nice.
- 19:20If you're a race fan, you're a race fan, you're just going to
- 19:21watch racing. So no, it's good.
- 19:23It's nice that we're up here and and I hope, like I say, we come
- 19:26back here for a while. I think this place deserves it.
- 19:28The area deserves it and I like the place too.
- 19:31So. Dustin, let me know.
- 19:34Jayski Ryan, I know you said you couldn't rely on past
- 19:36information. Last time here was nine years
- 19:38ago. But if you look at the finishing
- 19:40order for the top five had at least multiple wins here in the
- 19:43past. Is that just a coincidence or
- 19:45how much could you actually apply?
- 19:48Yeah, I don't, man. I don't know.
- 19:49I don't think anything applied from like previous years here.
- 19:55Yeah, I don't, I don't know. I mean, a lot of guys had
- 19:57experience here for sure. But yeah, there's really nothing
- 20:00you can. Could apply like the only part
- 20:03that I kind of remembered from that's similar from tonight to
- 20:07nine years ago, last time I was here was like the bumps into one
- 20:10before I get to the new pavement.
- 20:12Like those are a handful. I'm just trying to get down in
- 20:14there and manage it. But they just stopped a little
- 20:18sooner now than what they did. So I don't know.
- 20:21I mean, maybe a little bit of that experience helps, but the
- 20:24race track was very different than what it was nine years ago.
- 20:27Going to go up here in the front to Mitchell.
- 20:33We'll need the microphone because we need to get the
- 20:35recording. Thank you.
- 20:37Mitch Kaminski, ABC 17 Early on, it looks like you and Kyle
- 20:40Larson had the fastest cars in the field after he had his
- 20:44issue. Or if he doesn't have his issue,
- 20:46does that change any of the strategy you guys have the way
- 20:48you run that race or? Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 20:50I mean, yeah, he looked really good.
- 20:52He fired off early in that race and drove away.
- 20:55I was actually, I was kind of riding that time, that first
- 20:59stage and I was like, man, he's going really hard.
- 21:02Like he might blow right from tire and but he was just super
- 21:06fast and I thought we got closer to him.
- 21:11He did. He did come back to the field
- 21:12though when he pitted. So yeah, his car was strong.
- 21:15I mean, gosh, he was, he was going to be tough to beat,
- 21:17that's for sure. I do feel like though, the last
- 21:20two runs of the race, we got a lot better.
- 21:22I got we finally got freed up enough to where I could really
- 21:24roll the middle better where he would kind of beat us.
- 21:27So I'd be curious to see. I'm not sure if never know how
- 21:31those things are going to play out, but I do think we got
- 21:33better. But yeah, they were definitely
- 21:34strong. And I don't even know what
- 21:35happened there, all four cars coming together.
- 21:37But yeah, he's going to be a tough one to.
- 21:40Beat Ryan Blaney wins right This was the redemption race for Ryan
- 21:44Blaney. He he won that race at Saint
- 21:48Louis and did not get a checkered flag.
- 21:51I, I've, I felt, I felt bad for Ryan Blamey at Saint Louis.
- 21:56You know, OK, I'll meet you halfway.
- 21:59Christopher Bell was probably going to win Saint Louis, but
- 22:01then his motor lay down and here's Blaney coming to the
- 22:04checkered flag at Saint Louis. He runs out of gas and then and
- 22:09then, of course, Austin Cedric wins Saint Louis.
- 22:12So this was the redemption race. But this also tells you how fast
- 22:17Ryan Blaney is. He he's fast.
- 22:19Ryan Blaney deserved that win. All right, that's that.
- 22:25Ryan Blaney's fast. He deserved the win.
