- 0:26Speaker 1: Yeah, welcome to Trek Cast Everybody, the Galaxy's most unpredictable
- 0:32Speaker 1: Star Trek podcast, Scott and my host is uh Daniel Rayes.
- 0:40Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 0:42Speaker 1: Man?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Oh you know it's yeah after Easter, that's rights.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I am ready to get spring started. Yeah. First,
- 0:54Speaker 1: that first motorcycle ride yesterday, but the first one that
- 0:57Speaker 1: you know, it wasn't because I was doing maintenance transporting
- 1:00Speaker 1: the bike, so just.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Right, the first one for yeah, it's it was a
- 1:06Speaker 3: little chili but uh yeah, you know, yeah, I loved it.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Not the environmental controls on the on the motorcycle don't
- 1:15Speaker 1: work too well, so.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I would imagine not Yeah, you're just kind of out there.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 2: What kind of bike you got.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I've got an O nine Harley Road King nice. Yeah,
- 1:27Speaker 1: so big bike.
- 1:29Speaker 2: That's cool.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Man. My wife loves riding on the back and we
- 1:33Speaker 1: love going for rides and stuff. So we got some
- 1:36Speaker 1: little trips planned this year. So yeah, yeah, I got
- 1:42Speaker 1: friends who ride and they they love it.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I got one buddy he does. He'll go down the
- 1:48Speaker 2: entire highway in California right against the coast. Yeah, does
- 1:53Speaker 2: that every year.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that's actually a part of our retirement plan. I
- 1:58Speaker 1: want to buy a fifth will trailer, uh with a
- 2:02Speaker 1: with a toy hauler in the back, and just go
- 2:04Speaker 1: all over the country and kind of use it as
- 2:07Speaker 1: a main base as we kind of use the motorcycles
- 2:10Speaker 1: a satellite to visit different places. Yeah, p H is
- 2:14Speaker 1: on the list.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Nice. Nice, Yeah, it's very it's very pretty over there.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so I've heard, I've heard.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah, how's your week been?
- 2:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, a lot of you know, a lot of
- 2:26Speaker 1: stuff going on. But you know, uh, you know, like
- 2:30Speaker 1: I said, just ready for the spring. Work's going good. Yeah,
- 2:34Speaker 1: so you know, my son's home from from college. I
- 2:38Speaker 1: was a big giant mess in the garage and he's
- 2:43Speaker 1: over for the summer. So yeah, everything's going good about you?
- 2:48Speaker 2: Oh good? Good so far.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Work has been kind of crazy, but but good. I
- 2:56Speaker 2: just finished the latest draft of my screenplay, so I've
- 2:59Speaker 2: gotten people to read it and tell me how terrible
- 3:02Speaker 2: it is.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you're just a horrible writer, obviously.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Well you want to get the flaws right.
- 3:09Speaker 1: You're trying to that's true. So yeah, that's true. I mean,
- 3:13Speaker 1: if you win everything and and get an A on everything,
- 3:16Speaker 1: then you're doing something wrong.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I mean I get well, like you just said, you
- 3:23Speaker 1: know the flaws and everything that's that's part of the process.
- 3:26Speaker 1: So you're perfect everything, you know right out the gate.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I mean, the struggle is part of the process, so.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Right, right, So yeah, I know, I'm excited about that.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And then my uh my big contest is in a
- 3:39Speaker 2: couple of months, so I'm in good pace to to
- 3:42Speaker 2: be done in time.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Awesome, Awesome, I'm excited about that.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, oh, is.
- 3:48Speaker 1: There is there a way that we're ever gonna be
- 3:50Speaker 1: able to see or read or watch or anything that
- 3:53Speaker 1: that you got going on? Is it?
- 3:55Speaker 2: I'm trying to Yeah. So, because of my television background,
- 3:59Speaker 2: I've been thinking about should I try to sell this
- 4:02Speaker 2: script or should I try to produce it? Okay, producing
- 4:07Speaker 2: it means I got to go find the funding though,
- 4:10Speaker 2: So that's right. So I don't I don't know where
- 4:14Speaker 2: I land on that right now, because you could be
- 4:16Speaker 2: spending years looking for funding.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Right you could use your vast knowledge of producing this
- 4:22Speaker 1: show and.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Right, yeah, yeah, it's not quite the same, but no, yeah, yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 2: I don't know if we have any listeners out there
- 4:31Speaker 2: that know about this kind of stuff, hit me up.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I have questions or filthy rich listeners that just want
- 4:36Speaker 1: to fund right, Yeah, sure, you know, you never know,
- 4:39Speaker 1: might be that one guy that, like you know, normally
- 4:42Speaker 1: is just sitting away, like in the back of one
- 4:45Speaker 1: of his nine hundred rooms and yeah, week and he's like,
- 4:49Speaker 1: you know what, this is the week right check out?
- 4:55Speaker 2: Yeah? Why yeah, yeah, I put it out. We'll see
- 5:00Speaker 2: what happens. But sure, yeah, all right, Well we should
- 5:04Speaker 2: probably get to the news. I got a few news
- 5:06Speaker 2: stories for.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Us, so good because I haven't been really on the
- 5:09Speaker 1: internet this week, so I don't know if anything's what's
- 5:11Speaker 1: going on.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll get to it. Let's get to it.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Star trek News.
- 5:18Speaker 2: All right, So our first news story comes to us
- 5:21Speaker 2: from trekmovie dot com, and we have an official premiere
- 5:28Speaker 2: date for Strangers World season three kind of so it
- 5:35Speaker 2: will be premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival in June
- 5:38Speaker 2: June fourteenth, to be the specific. So they will have
- 5:42Speaker 2: a presentation of the season three premiere. But then what right,
- 5:49Speaker 2: Like that doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna be on Paramount
- 5:52Speaker 2: Plus that day. Or the next day. It's just that
- 5:58Speaker 2: like doing it at a film festival.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah, and then on paramount plus.
- 6:05Speaker 2: They haven't but that's not to say they couldn't.
- 6:08Speaker 1: No, But I wonder why they're doing it that way.
- 6:12Speaker 2: I don't know that it's it's a strange strategy to me,
- 6:16Speaker 2: Like I wonder, Yeah, I don't know. Like to me,
- 6:22Speaker 2: it seems like they want to get more of the
- 6:25Speaker 2: casual fans or generate new fans. So that's why they Yeah,
- 6:31Speaker 2: so they would put it in a you know, at
- 6:34Speaker 2: not a like at a sci fi convention, right or
- 6:36Speaker 2: not like at a Star Trek convention, but at a
- 6:38Speaker 2: at a just a typical film festival. But the other
- 6:41Speaker 2: thing too, is like it's a TV show, not a
- 6:44Speaker 2: film at a film festival, right, you know, That's that's
- 6:51Speaker 2: not what people are focused on. So the Travica Film
- 6:56Speaker 2: Festival is more about independent films and and getting right. No. Yeah,
- 7:02Speaker 2: like I don't understand the logic. Hopefully they have a plan,
- 7:08Speaker 2: but I I don't.
- 7:10Speaker 1: You know, It's it's like when I was in the military,
- 7:13Speaker 1: It's like there was this this chaos going around and
- 7:15Speaker 1: you're like, either either the leadership is completely insane or
- 7:20Speaker 1: there's this like super smart plan that's all gonna coalesce,
- 7:24Speaker 1: and right, right, nine times out of ten it was
- 7:29Speaker 1: the leadership was crazy. But yeah, every once in a
- 7:34Speaker 1: while it was like, well, we don't know what's going on,
- 7:36Speaker 1: and they have a plan, and it's like, you know,
- 7:38Speaker 1: we just have to we just have to, you know,
- 7:41Speaker 1: have faith in their plan. So I guess we have
- 7:43Speaker 1: no choice but to have faith in their plan.
- 7:45Speaker 2: So right, right, So I guess we'll see. But yeah,
- 7:49Speaker 2: so for now, June fourteenth, Trebecka Film Festival. If you
- 7:53Speaker 2: want to go see Strange to the Worlds first, that's
- 7:55Speaker 2: that's the place to do and get.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Yourself where at somewhere in California, No, because in New York? So,
- 8:01Speaker 1: oh New York. Okay, yeah, so Dan's got a chance.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Maybe Dan's got a chance. Yeah, all right, I will
- 8:07Speaker 1: I'll call him after the show and make sure he's
- 8:11Speaker 1: got travel arrangements.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yeah, don Green, I'm late to join in the stream.
- 8:16Speaker 2: But have you guys seen the Strange Worlds SpongeBob paramount
- 8:19Speaker 2: advert We have not even brought that up yet.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, have you not seen this thing? I have?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I've seen it.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I think I shared it on on the Facebook page.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, so that is making the rounds too as well.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I didn't have it in the news segment, but yes,
- 8:37Speaker 2: there's a new advertisement going around right now. It's Strange
- 8:41Speaker 2: New Worlds and SpongeBob crossover. You see a munch of
- 8:45Speaker 2: the SpongeBob characters with the Strange World characters on the
- 8:48Speaker 2: enterprise and it's all to promote Paramount, plus the idea being.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Like range, all right.
- 8:56Speaker 2: It's definitely strange. It's definitely strange. I'm not a sponge
- 9:00Speaker 2: so to me it.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Was I'm not either. Yeah, my kids are. I mean
- 9:05Speaker 1: they like everybody is aware of it, but I don't
- 9:09Speaker 1: think I've ever seen a single, like standalone episode. You know.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I get the the idea behind it. It's a
- 9:17Speaker 2: fun idea. Yeah, it's it's what they it's more of
- 9:21Speaker 2: what they did with the remember the the Paramount and
- 9:24Speaker 2: and Patrick Stewart and he like throw that kid because
- 9:27Speaker 2: he had a football.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Shaped head, right the Mountain Para mount Mountain. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:31Speaker 1: a bunch of franchise, more.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Of those goofy adverts.
- 9:34Speaker 1: So yeah, that's cool, and I think they're going for
- 9:38Speaker 1: I think the the the demographic is the real is
- 9:41Speaker 1: like the younger Star Trek fan. Yeah, twenties and thirties,
- 9:45Speaker 1: you know who maybe grew up on SpongeBob. I guess right,
- 9:48Speaker 1: but it's fine. Yeah, when I was a Star Trek fan,
- 9:55Speaker 1: right right, you know, don't mean to sound like old
- 9:58Speaker 1: man Star Trek fan, but.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Right, well man yells like clouds. Yeah yeah, all right.
- 10:05Speaker 2: So our next news story comes to us from screen
- 10:08Speaker 2: rants and Star Trek's quirk names the best actor on
- 10:12Speaker 2: Deep Space nine, and according to this person, they think
- 10:16Speaker 2: he's right. So in a recent interview, Armand Shimerman was
- 10:20Speaker 2: talking about who he thought the best actor on Deep
- 10:24Speaker 2: Space nine was, who do you think he thought was
- 10:26Speaker 2: the best actor?
- 10:29Speaker 1: Call Meani, then call Meani?
- 10:31Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, I wonder who the chat thinks he thought
- 10:35Speaker 2: was the best.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Actor, because cal Meenie did subtlety the best.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Okay, that's that's a good call. You know, I would
- 10:42Speaker 2: have guessed, having not read this, or you know, before
- 10:47Speaker 2: I read it, My guess was was what's his name,
- 10:54Speaker 2: Andy Robinson Garrick. Yeah, that would have been my guess. Sure, sure,
- 11:00Speaker 2: but both of us would have been wrong.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Yes, he says that he thought the breast actoring was
- 11:09Speaker 2: Roc Loton.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Oh wow, yeah.
- 11:14Speaker 2: He He goes on to say, you have to remember
- 11:17Speaker 2: he was a kid back then, and the subtlety that
- 11:20Speaker 2: Jake did in his or Sirac did in his acting
- 11:24Speaker 2: is right there. It's very it's very subtle, but it's there.
- 11:29Speaker 2: And for a kid to pull that off and to
- 11:31Speaker 2: have that kind of instincts is pretty amazing.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Sure, I'll give I'll give Sarrac credit seasons one through three,
- 11:39Speaker 1: uh huh, and maybe in the season four. Yeah, but
- 11:45Speaker 1: you know, like a lot of child actors, you know,
- 11:49Speaker 1: I don't think he didn't have subtlety. I use that
- 11:53Speaker 1: word again in in the later seasons. Yeah, I you know,
- 11:59Speaker 1: I I I thought he was an okay actor. I
- 12:03Speaker 1: don't think he was underutilized at all. Yeah, there was
- 12:07Speaker 1: some performances, you know, the the the Visitor. I thought
- 12:12Speaker 1: he did a good job the pain and the sorrow
- 12:15Speaker 1: and the sadness and the loss. I did think in
- 12:18Speaker 1: that episode he did a fantastic job. But but for
- 12:22Speaker 1: the rest, you know, he didn't really when he was
- 12:26Speaker 1: trying to portray a reporter, he didn't to me, he
- 12:30Speaker 1: didn't bring any you know, he didn't make me think
- 12:33Speaker 1: that he was passionate about being a reporter, you know, see, and.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I think about, like, where's scheming the whole way through, right.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Face, something in the Great River or whatever.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think he did a great
- 12:49Speaker 2: job in that episode.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yep, yep, you know prode and yeah, yeah, I agree,
- 12:58Speaker 1: but uh yeah, for the rest of the you know,
- 13:01Speaker 1: the one, two and three, or for you know, especially
- 13:04Speaker 1: during the Dominion War when he was trying to pretend
- 13:06Speaker 1: to be an adult when he was just barely adult
- 13:08Speaker 1: and you know, being a reporter, and you know, his
- 13:12Speaker 1: I don't know if it was if it was the character,
- 13:16Speaker 1: if his character was that naive, then he I thought
- 13:20Speaker 1: he did a good job, but I don't think his
- 13:23Speaker 1: character was written as that naive. And so I think
- 13:27Speaker 1: Sarac portrayed him as really really naive or Saraq was naive, yeah,
- 13:34Speaker 1: or was portraying him as naive when he wasn't supposed
- 13:36Speaker 1: to do. I'm not exactly sure what I'm trying to say,
- 13:38Speaker 1: but something always didn't hit me right with his performance.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Yeah, you know. We do have a comment from Instagram
- 13:47Speaker 2: Michael z a lot disease wants to know if there's
- 13:50Speaker 2: anything to share about any more Star Trek films. Yeah, man,
- 13:53Speaker 2: we don't know, and we we had mentioned on the
- 13:56Speaker 2: show a few weeks ago when when Paramount was at CinemaCon,
- 14:00Speaker 2: they did not even mention anything about a new Star
- 14:02Speaker 2: Trek movie. So the prospects do not look good so far.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. I keep seeing online. I keep seeing the
- 14:10Speaker 1: little message boards and online rumors about Star Trek four.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Everybody's open, man, everybody's open.
- 14:17Speaker 1: I wish they would shoot that dog right in the head. What, honestly,
- 14:24Speaker 1: there's not that. I love dogs. Maybe I should have
- 14:27Speaker 1: used a different example. I wish I would. I wish
- 14:31Speaker 1: they would have shot that kid. Let's see, I'm gonna
- 14:34Speaker 1: shoot myself in the foot, are I?
- 14:36Speaker 2: No?
- 14:36Speaker 1: I wish they would shoot that beast in its head
- 14:40Speaker 1: and put out of its misery for good.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Tell us it's gonna be only a TV yeah.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Or just like Star Trek, like JJ Abrams, Star Trek,
- 14:49Speaker 1: Chris Pine, you know. I. I just wish they would
- 14:53Speaker 1: all get plastic surgery so they would not look anything
- 14:56Speaker 1: like their characters again, and we could we could bury it,
- 14:58Speaker 1: put it to rest.
- 15:00Speaker 2: When he gives this, Dan's gonna show up at Scott's
- 15:02Speaker 2: front door for that dog's helmet.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Okay, this is a cartoon dog that doesn't exist. This
- 15:10Speaker 1: is not.
- 15:12Speaker 2: All right, Let's get to our next story. Our next
- 15:16Speaker 2: story comes to us from Newsweek, and Robert Briccardo teases
- 15:20Speaker 2: major changes to his character in Star Trek Starfleet Academy. So,
- 15:26Speaker 2: Robert Ricardo is returning in Starfleet Academy to play the doctor,
- 15:30Speaker 2: same character he played on Voyager, and he is saying
- 15:33Speaker 2: that there's gonna be some major changes.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I'm not gonna be the same hologram.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I mean one, as he's older, right, they're not gonna
- 15:41Speaker 2: probably not gonna deage him.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Right, So they're gonna they're gonna do that thing where
- 15:46Speaker 1: they say I decided that, since I want to be
- 15:49Speaker 1: in front of my colleagues and co workers, I did
- 15:51Speaker 1: not want to appear younger, So I wanted to appear
- 15:55Speaker 1: a contemporary to them. So voila. That's that's how he's
- 15:58Speaker 1: gonna explain it away.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Yeah, oh for sure, it'll be something like that. He
- 16:02Speaker 2: says that he still has his humor, but there's a
- 16:05Speaker 2: there's more depth to him, which I don't know. Man,
- 16:08Speaker 2: there was a lot of depth on Voyager with that character.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and a lot like like I said, I'm doing
- 16:13Speaker 1: a rewatch a Voyager right now. I'm halfway through yeah five,
- 16:19Speaker 1: And I've been watching the Delta Flyers too, so I've
- 16:23Speaker 1: been listening, Yeah, Garrett Wong and my good friend Robbie McNeil, right, yeah, Robbie, yes, Robbie.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm thinking about the last characters. They told us like,
- 16:38Speaker 2: oh there is there's some changes. And I think of
- 16:41Speaker 2: Seven of Nine in Picard, how different she was from Voyager.
- 16:46Speaker 2: They had warnis ahead of time that seven was gonna
- 16:49Speaker 2: be different. So I'm wondering if not like that kind
- 16:54Speaker 2: of a shift, but that that much of a difference
- 16:57Speaker 2: in the docors.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I bought the change for Son of nine, okay, because
- 17:01Speaker 1: it had been so long, you know, twenty twenty five years,
- 17:05Speaker 1: so obviously she was going to change and grow and
- 17:08Speaker 1: you know, become more human and things like that. I'll
- 17:11Speaker 1: probably buy the change for the doctor, you know, hopefully
- 17:14Speaker 1: he's got a name, you know, other than Joe.
- 17:18Speaker 2: But jo Mama.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Well, yeah, in one of the seat in one of
- 17:21Speaker 1: the episodes in I believe it was endgame when they
- 17:26Speaker 1: go to go to the future. Uh, he comes out
- 17:29Speaker 1: and says he's his name is Joe.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Right right right?
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah. In fact, I just saw the episode Timeless, which
- 17:36Speaker 1: is my favorite Voyager episode. That's the one where Voyager
- 17:41Speaker 1: crash lands on the ice planet.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Yeah, awaiting games. We're still moving forward with the Hogwarts
- 17:47Speaker 2: in space.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Huh yes, apparently.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Yes. I can't wait for the digital Owls to show up.
- 17:54Speaker 2: You know that you've you've been accepted as sharp leat Academy.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Right right?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 17:59Speaker 1: Oh boy? So yeah, yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I I'm gonna watch it. I mean, anything's gonna be
- 18:07Speaker 1: better than Section thirty one.
- 18:10Speaker 2: I mean probably probably, but yeah.
- 18:16Speaker 1: And there's no word about when this is coming out, right.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Not yet, not yet, so hopefully at some point this year,
- 18:23Speaker 2: you know, beginning of next two.
- 18:26Speaker 1: No's okay, all right?
- 18:28Speaker 2: And then our last news story saw this this morning.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I thought I would share because it looks like fun.
- 18:35Speaker 2: So there is the right now going on in in
- 18:40Speaker 2: La area. Is the Universal fan Fest, right, Yeah, have
- 18:44Speaker 2: these big, big sets that people can walk through it.
- 18:48Speaker 2: It's a takeoff of the Universal Horror Film Nights. So
- 18:53Speaker 2: now they're doing like a fan fest night for other
- 18:55Speaker 2: franchises that aren't horror, and Star Trek is part of it.
- 19:00Speaker 2: So what I found was on this article from Universal
- 19:07Speaker 2: Parks News today they have all of the Star Trek
- 19:11Speaker 2: merch and it's price point. Okay, so I thought it
- 19:15Speaker 2: would be fun. Would you buy it or not? All right,
- 19:19Speaker 2: since we got the prices, so here we go. Let's
- 19:22Speaker 2: start with the first one. We have the Star Trek magnet.
- 19:29Speaker 2: So there it is a little delta magnet communicator. Yeah,
- 19:32Speaker 2: it looks like a communicator. You can see in that
- 19:34Speaker 2: person can So it's not that big and it's fifteen dollars.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Would you buy that?
- 19:41Speaker 5: Uh?
- 19:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so. It looks nice, I think so. Yeah.
- 19:45Speaker 2: In fridge magnet, why not sure magnet?
- 19:48Speaker 1: It looks kind of three d ish. I mean it
- 19:49Speaker 1: doesn't look like just like a flat you know, printed,
- 19:52Speaker 1: It looks like it's uh looks like it's.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, there's some depth to it.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Yeah, so it looks to be it looks like a combatge.
- 19:58Speaker 1: It looks to be about the size of a combadge,
- 20:00Speaker 1: and it's designed to be a refrigerator magnet.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I think it's definitely supposed to be an impulse by Like, well,
- 20:05Speaker 2: I don't want to pay for a shirt, but I'll
- 20:06Speaker 2: get this for fifteen bucks.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Sure, sure, yeah, so.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm down for that. I think you also have
- 20:13Speaker 2: the visitor's magnet that's also fifteen dollars.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Okay, that's okay. That is the same badge that the
- 20:22Speaker 1: Card had to wear when he visited Starfleet Academy in correct. Yeah, yeah, okay.
- 20:28Speaker 1: So I don't know if ye're a big card fan. Yeah, sure,
- 20:32Speaker 1: just a momentum fifteen bucks. Yeah all right.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I think I would prefer the Delta shield more than
- 20:37Speaker 2: this one, but whatever.
- 20:39Speaker 1: More people probably would. Yeah.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Yeah, we have a blue T shirt for thirty bucks.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Okay, so this is a Starkley Academy logo T shirt.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Right, It's got like the triangle on it that you know,
- 20:52Speaker 2: rounded edge triangle is perfect Academy x ASTERA and then yeah,
- 21:02Speaker 2: head Astra whatever, it's not ad Astra, it's a.
- 21:08Speaker 1: It's got the Golden gate Bridge in the background.
- 21:10Speaker 2: With the star yea to San Francisco, and then it's
- 21:14Speaker 2: got like the year in Roman numerals. So thirty bucks for.
- 21:18Speaker 1: A T shirt.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Honestly, that's not bad for for a film, for a
- 21:23Speaker 2: theme park souvenir. Thirty bucks for a TV. Yep, that's yeah, okay.
- 21:32Speaker 2: The wind breaker jacket, this is seventy.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Dollars that.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Yeah, okay for a windbreaker, right, it's a it's it
- 21:42Speaker 2: for those listening, it's kind of what a beige light
- 21:46Speaker 2: gray kind.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Of yeah, beige gray.
- 21:49Speaker 2: You almost cannot tell the star trek except for the
- 21:51Speaker 2: small amount of writing on like one side. It's got
- 21:57Speaker 2: like a star trek image of a I don't know.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I can't really tell what that is, but it kind
- 22:04Speaker 1: of looks like a borg.
- 22:05Speaker 2: No, it's it's.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Yeah, full el Car's emblem.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's underneath that it might.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Say something about what what the what the thing? The
- 22:15Speaker 1: event's going on?
- 22:16Speaker 2: So yeah, maybe there's something on the back. I don't know.
- 22:19Speaker 1: If you're in need, in need of a wind breaker
- 22:22Speaker 1: and yeah, I see. You got to keep in mind,
- 22:25Speaker 1: I'm I'm used to going to Harley stores, so T
- 22:27Speaker 1: shirts forty five dollars and this wind breaker would easily
- 22:31Speaker 1: be one hundred.
- 22:32Speaker 2: So okay, a deal.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not getting sticker shock here.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Okay, but would you get that? Is that something you
- 22:41Speaker 2: would wear.
- 22:41Speaker 1: If I was in if I was in the market,
- 22:43Speaker 1: if I wore wind breakers, which I don't.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't either.
- 22:47Speaker 1: I could see myself getting a seventy dollars wind breaker. Okay,
- 22:51Speaker 1: but if I was like, that's the only thing I'm getting,
- 22:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna splurge. You know, I'm in the mood I've
- 22:56Speaker 1: got I've got that in my discretionary funds.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, okay, Oh, let's see next one. A
- 23:08Speaker 2: twenty five dollars journal. It's one of these like Moleskin
- 23:12Speaker 2: type journals. It's got a really big enterprise on the front.
- 23:16Speaker 2: It says go boldly. There's some color to it, some
- 23:19Speaker 2: red and blue and black imagery. It's got one of
- 23:23Speaker 2: those barely fits in your hand, Yeah, barely fits in
- 23:26Speaker 2: your hand, that big. It's twenty five bucks for a journal, though.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that seems that seems that's hot, steep.
- 23:34Speaker 2: That even at fifteen I think that would be hot.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Yeah. I was gonna say, that looks like a fifteen
- 23:38Speaker 1: dollars item. Now if it was, if it was a
- 23:40Speaker 1: Discovery one, I would buy it and then I would.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Send it of course, of course. Yeah. But yeah, I
- 23:47Speaker 2: mean if.
- 23:48Speaker 1: It was a Michael Burnham one, I'd probably spend forty
- 23:50Speaker 1: dollars on it express ship it to Dan, you want.
- 23:53Speaker 2: You want Michael Burnham's Crying Journal. That's right, yes, yeah,
- 23:58Speaker 2: I'm gonna pass on this twenty five dollars journal. Let's see.
- 24:01Speaker 1: You know what I just you're moving the cursor around
- 24:03Speaker 1: and I'm looking at it on screen, and I thought
- 24:05Speaker 1: it was a bug this.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, sorry sorry. Yeah. So we have this
- 24:13Speaker 2: chocolate specimen from It's a SETI eel but chocolate, solid chocolate.
- 24:18Speaker 2: They don't have a price tag on it.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Don't care what it cost, I'll buy it.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Yeah, that looks delicious. Now we've got the Chateau Picard. Oh,
- 24:31Speaker 2: I can click on these great Chateau of card water bottle.
- 24:35Speaker 2: That's kind of yeah, it's thirty bucks. It's one of those,
- 24:39Speaker 2: uh like a metal bottles. Yeah yeah, it doesn't look
- 24:43Speaker 2: that big. I'm gonna guess maybe twenty ounces at most.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, something like that, something like that.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, thirty bucks. I mean that's right about
- 24:55Speaker 2: what those things cost sop yep, yeah, yeah, that's fine.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Quarks glasses there, it is, it's a Quarks glass. It's
- 25:07Speaker 2: twenty bucks. It's just like a beer pint glass.
- 25:10Speaker 1: That's pricey.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Sure for that? Yeah, for that, because I would.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Like a set of four, and I would like to
- 25:17Speaker 1: pay forty dollars four fifty bucks for a set of
- 25:22Speaker 1: four because one glass, you know whatever, I've got a
- 25:26Speaker 1: quarks like a small quarks glass.
- 25:28Speaker 2: But yeah, I've got one too somewhere.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Ah. A friend of mine, Amy, she had one of
- 25:35Speaker 1: those monthly subscriptions where they send you like a cool
- 25:40Speaker 1: box every month. Oh yeah yeah, And one of the
- 25:43Speaker 1: months was a Star Trek box, and so she's like, oh,
- 25:49Speaker 1: I know a guy that likes Star Treks. So she
- 25:50Speaker 1: gave me this box and it had like a had
- 25:53Speaker 1: a T shirt and like a T shirt with the
- 25:54Speaker 1: Enterprise d on it that I wear on the show sometimes.
- 25:58Speaker 1: It had it had a quarks are coasters, like four
- 26:02Speaker 1: uh rubber coasters. It had a like a little shot
- 26:05Speaker 1: glass from a little small little glasses, a quarts bar
- 26:08Speaker 1: on It.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Was really yeah, all right, and then is that okay? Yeah,
- 26:14Speaker 2: this will be the last one the triple keychain. This
- 26:18Speaker 2: thing is eighteen dollars.
- 26:20Speaker 1: That's a bit. Yeah, that's a ten dollars right all
- 26:24Speaker 1: day long?
- 26:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, eighteen seems kind of high for it.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It is just a giant trouble with the keychain on it.
- 26:31Speaker 2: There's also a key uh like a little I don't
- 26:34Speaker 2: know tag that's got a Kirk on it, like kind
- 26:37Speaker 2: of cartoon. Yeah, yeahs as would buy.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I you know what, We've got a couple of
- 26:47Speaker 1: We've got like one regular size trible and my wife's
- 26:50Speaker 1: got a couple of keychain size tribles start star Fleet
- 26:54Speaker 1: International uh sells them. They adopt quote unquote adopt tribles
- 26:58Speaker 1: out and you pay like three dollars for them, and
- 27:00Speaker 1: that that goes towards the Starfleet International. So we've got
- 27:03Speaker 1: a couple of those.
- 27:04Speaker 2: You know what I would use this for.
- 27:07Speaker 1: There there's a coffee with your chicken sandwich.
- 27:10Speaker 2: No, no, no, there's there's a there's a travel not
- 27:16Speaker 2: a hack, but like a like a tip, right, And
- 27:19Speaker 2: one of the things is put key chains on your luggage,
- 27:23Speaker 2: on you know, the stuff you check in. So then
- 27:26Speaker 2: that way when they're coming out of the out of
- 27:29Speaker 2: the shoot at the at the airport, you can instantly
- 27:32Speaker 2: pick yours out and you're not like, oh, is that
- 27:34Speaker 2: one mine? Is that one mine? But you know by
- 27:36Speaker 2: the key chains, right, the ones you right, Yes, it's
- 27:39Speaker 2: easy to spot.
- 27:41Speaker 1: That would just that would just be awkward if you
- 27:43Speaker 1: you and like another Star Trek fan awkwardly grab for
- 27:46Speaker 1: the same bag.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Yeah, but at least if you're not dealing with so
- 27:49Speaker 2: many people, it's just one of the right. Yeah. But yeah,
- 27:53Speaker 2: so like I I've got a couple of luggage tags
- 27:55Speaker 2: online that I can easily spot my stuff. So yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 2: the trouble would be a fun one for for something
- 28:01Speaker 2: like that.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Speaking of luggage, you want to see airport confusion having
- 28:07Speaker 1: try having fifty soldiers looking for the exact same Duffel bag.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Oh god on the carousel. That's kind of pandemonium and
- 28:20Speaker 1: everybody's like all that. Everybody's like, oh, I'm gonna be
- 28:23Speaker 1: different because I'm gonna put reflective tape around the Duffel bag.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Everybody everybody does.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Yeah, don't they just write their names real big on
- 28:31Speaker 2: the double bag?
- 28:32Speaker 1: Yeah, but everybody's name is written in black marker, the
- 28:35Speaker 1: exact the exact same, right.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, fair enough, fair enough? All right. Well that's
- 28:42Speaker 2: that's some of the stuff. There's more on there. I'll
- 28:45Speaker 2: put the whole list in the show notes. People want
- 28:48Speaker 2: to check it out. But uh, yeah, I think they
- 28:52Speaker 2: got some cool stuff in that. At that fan night's
- 28:54Speaker 2: you know, it looks like fun to me.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, curarrently in the chat, my mom said, hi.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Oh hello him mom. Mom. All right, well let's uh,
- 29:09Speaker 2: let's get to our main topic.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Let's do it.
- 29:14Speaker 4: Fun will now come out, all.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Right, So our main topic is we are reviewing Star
- 29:24Speaker 2: Trek three, the Search for Spock, since we are continuing
- 29:28Speaker 2: our review of the cos films.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Absolutely, yes he is movie.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yes he has risen. Spock has returned to us after
- 29:38Speaker 2: dying in uh rathacn. This film is from nineteen eighty four,
- 29:45Speaker 2: directed by Harvey or Harve Bennett. So yeah, that's pretty quick, right,
- 29:52Speaker 2: because Ratha con was eighty two.
- 29:56Speaker 1: This was written by uh, this was directed by Leonard in.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Boy Oh was it okay? Oh that's right? Yeah sorry,
- 30:03Speaker 2: produced by.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Writers the right harb Benett wrote it.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, okay, Leonardamoyd directed it.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Uh yeah, what time to get serious? But the glasses, but.
- 30:15Speaker 2: On the glasses serious time, serious time. Um, so let's
- 30:20Speaker 2: see what what happened in this film.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Uh.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Basically we're dealing with the aftermath of Scott of Scott's
- 30:26Speaker 2: Spock's death. Right, everyone seems depressed. Uh. The enterprise is
- 30:34Speaker 2: is back at Space talk and and Kirk finds out
- 30:41Speaker 2: that he he's been the Enterprise is basically done. It's
- 30:45Speaker 2: gonna be mothballed, and and yes, and Kirk wants to
- 30:52Speaker 2: go back to the Genesis planet. What was the reasoning
- 30:56Speaker 2: I forgot?
- 30:57Speaker 1: Like?
- 30:57Speaker 2: What was?
- 30:58Speaker 1: Well, he got a visit from Sarah.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Okay, yes, that's right, he got a visit from Sarah.
- 31:03Speaker 1: And Sarah's like, uh, you know, I want to talk
- 31:06Speaker 1: to you. Uh, why why did you abandon Spock? I mean,
- 31:11Speaker 1: you know, Sarah's got it in his head that he
- 31:14Speaker 1: knows what happened. He knows that Spock, you know, sacrificed
- 31:16Speaker 1: himself with the ship. But he's like, I know that
- 31:20Speaker 1: that you were the last one to talk to him.
- 31:21Speaker 1: I know he would have mind melded with you and
- 31:23Speaker 1: given you his contra. Why why did you abandon him?
- 31:26Speaker 1: And Kirk's like, I don't know what the hell you're
- 31:28Speaker 1: talking about. And then Sarah's like, you know, bull crap.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Let me, you know, come here and let me mind
- 31:34Speaker 1: meld with you. And that's when Sarah realizes. Oh, and
- 31:38Speaker 1: then Sarah tells him some he he must have mind
- 31:41Speaker 1: melded with somebody and that's when he checks out the
- 31:43Speaker 1: security footage, realizes that he mind melded with McCoy, and
- 31:48Speaker 1: that's when Sarah said, you have to go find Spock
- 31:51Speaker 1: if there's a spot to be found, and bring him
- 31:55Speaker 1: and McCoy back to Vulkan, right. So that's what starts.
- 32:01Speaker 1: That's why he had there, and that's see at first
- 32:04Speaker 1: I was confused because I'm like, well, why doesn't he just,
- 32:07Speaker 1: you know, like Rent taken Uber to with McCoy and
- 32:11Speaker 1: just taking Uber to Balkan. No, he can't do that.
- 32:13Speaker 1: He's got to get to He's got to get to
- 32:15Speaker 1: the to the Genesis planet, to the Matara sector.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Right, And then the Genesis planet has been kind of
- 32:21Speaker 2: like cording off because there's still so yeah, even if yeah, yeah,
- 32:27Speaker 2: even if you charted something, you couldn't go.
- 32:29Speaker 1: There right because McCoy tried to right right, McCoy, Spock
- 32:35Speaker 1: tried to right right.
- 32:37Speaker 2: And just it wasn't working. And then we also have
- 32:41Speaker 2: got our villain kind of lurking Christopher. Oh God, I
- 32:46Speaker 2: forget Lloyd.
- 32:51Speaker 1: He was he was Krug and christ he was just
- 32:56Speaker 1: as much Christopher Lloyd as he was Krug. And I
- 32:58Speaker 1: didn't have a problem with it at all. Yes, that
- 33:02Speaker 1: was the evil Klingon Doc Brown, and I loved every
- 33:05Speaker 1: second of it.
- 33:06Speaker 2: It was great.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Every lie that came out of his bout.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Gold awaiting game says in this movie, do we get
- 33:13Speaker 2: our first actual visual representation of a targ?
- 33:16Speaker 1: I think so that was That was in my notes. Yeah,
- 33:18Speaker 1: I think it was the first time we see a
- 33:20Speaker 1: targ We've seen other dog like things that weren't Clingon
- 33:24Speaker 1: targs in like occasional series, you know, where they took
- 33:27Speaker 1: like a Pomeranian and flew to a piece of paper
- 33:31Speaker 1: mache on his forehead. But yeah, put a horn on it,
- 33:33Speaker 1: and I thought this was nasty. I love the targ.
- 33:37Speaker 1: I mean, yes, the targ I did a little deep dive.
- 33:39Speaker 1: The targ is something that the Klingons they have for pets.
- 33:43Speaker 1: They hunt, they eat, you know, heart of targ and
- 33:47Speaker 1: stuff like this. So it's a it's a very versatile
- 33:50Speaker 1: Klingon animal.
- 33:52Speaker 2: That's right, That's right. So yeah, so, uh, the Klingons
- 33:57Speaker 2: are interested in the Genesis device because they think it
- 34:00Speaker 2: can be a weapon of war and they so they're
- 34:04Speaker 2: looking for it, right, even as the the Klingons have
- 34:10Speaker 2: this ship that can shoot well cloaked, right, that's the
- 34:14Speaker 2: big scary thing about it.
- 34:17Speaker 1: No. No, In fact, Kirk surmises that it can't shoot
- 34:20Speaker 1: until cloaked. That doesn't call uh the undiscovered country. Okay, okay,
- 34:26Speaker 1: and people in the chat uh google me right or
- 34:28Speaker 1: google me wrong? But yeah, right, So yeah, they're looking
- 34:32Speaker 1: for it, and they've also got they there's a there's
- 34:35Speaker 1: a like a mercenary or some kind of cargo ship
- 34:38Speaker 1: that rendezvous's with the Klingon Bird of Prey and they've
- 34:41Speaker 1: got some information on Genesis. They're the ones that have
- 34:45Speaker 1: like the classified information, that have smuggled it somehow. And
- 34:48Speaker 1: there's a Klingon representative on board that I don't remember
- 34:52Speaker 1: her name, but she's she's got a cleingon boob window.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I remember that. So she's like she's telling her her
- 35:01Speaker 1: her master, Doc Brown, you know you're gonna find it
- 35:05Speaker 1: very useful. And he goes, so you've seen it, and
- 35:09Speaker 1: she's like, yes, I have, my lord. He's like unfortunate
- 35:12Speaker 1: and she's like I understand, and then he goes and
- 35:16Speaker 1: destroys the the Mercenary ship right like that's she just
- 35:22Speaker 1: and he says, good luck, my love. Yes, why didn't
- 35:26Speaker 1: she just beam her aboard and then destroy the ship,
- 35:29Speaker 1: like because it's ortun of it. Yeah, I just don't understand.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Klingons that that must be yeah.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Yeah. So he's got logicas in this movie, just a few.
- 35:43Speaker 1: So he's got the uh information on Genesis, and he
- 35:46Speaker 1: wants to go uh he wants more information on Genesis, right,
- 35:51Speaker 1: and so we cut back to uh, we cut back
- 35:56Speaker 1: to Starfleet and Kirk is trying to to get a ship.
- 36:00Speaker 1: He's like, well, when is the Enterprise gonna be ready?
- 36:02Speaker 1: When can we take that out? I want to take
- 36:04Speaker 1: you know, Spock's brain that's inside of McCoy, And the
- 36:10Speaker 1: Admiralty basically shuts them down, says, nope, it's the ships
- 36:13Speaker 1: inside of a McCoy. That's inside of a McCoy and
- 36:19Speaker 1: so uh and so they he tells Kirk no, and
- 36:23Speaker 1: Kirk's like, all right, cool and uh he's like. The
- 36:27Speaker 1: rest of the crew is like, so what do they say?
- 36:30Speaker 1: He said no, we're therefore going anyways, So they hatch
- 36:35Speaker 1: a plan. They go and kidnap but doctor McCoy and
- 36:38Speaker 1: they hatch a plan to uh, to steal the Enterprise
- 36:43Speaker 1: and and that's when we have you know, that's that
- 36:46Speaker 1: those are the series of events that kicks off. Basically,
- 36:51Speaker 1: everybody is going to get court martialed at the end
- 36:53Speaker 1: of the next movie. But so they all the crew
- 36:57Speaker 1: basically get on the Enterprise except for Ahura, and they
- 37:01Speaker 1: steal the Enterprise. Is a cool you know space doc scene,
- 37:05Speaker 1: and then they they're able to escape the Space Doc
- 37:10Speaker 1: and escape the Excelsior the excels Here because a Scotty
- 37:15Speaker 1: sabotaged the the excels Here and they had off. Yeah,
- 37:20Speaker 1: they head off with the you know, with the uh
- 37:22Speaker 1: spotified McCoy and rest of the crew except for a
- 37:25Speaker 1: horror to the Genesis planet.
- 37:29Speaker 2: Yeah, basically, uh spock spirit is in McCoy, but his
- 37:33Speaker 2: body is on Genesis, so.
- 37:35Speaker 1: They need They don't know that at the time, and
- 37:37Speaker 1: they don't.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Know that that's.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Now, while all this is going on, we've got an
- 37:45Speaker 1: oh birth class starship that has doctor David Marcus uh
- 37:53Speaker 1: uh uh discount Kirsty Alley and right, I actually like
- 38:00Speaker 1: the savoc. I I like I like her better than
- 38:04Speaker 1: Christy Ally's uh savoc. Most people don't agree with me,
- 38:07Speaker 1: but I like the way she was portrayed in this.
- 38:11Speaker 1: So they're they're on this od birth class ship. I
- 38:13Speaker 1: think it's called the Grisome, and they are actually studying
- 38:18Speaker 1: uh the Genesis planet right, And so they they detect
- 38:22Speaker 1: they detect a life form. They detect Spock's burial uh
- 38:26Speaker 1: photon torpedo case. They beam down and uh they know
- 38:32Speaker 1: there's a life form there. It's it's David and and
- 38:35Speaker 1: Lieutenant Savag. They beamed down and they find Spock, a
- 38:41Speaker 1: young version of Spock, like a seven year old version
- 38:43Speaker 1: of Spock.
- 38:43Speaker 2: But they also find like little bugs near the near
- 38:48Speaker 2: the uh near the coffin, right, and and they say, like, whoa,
- 38:53Speaker 2: this is like life beginning to evolve, which is kind
- 38:57Speaker 2: of weird.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Well, yeah, so it's like the Genesis. It's like the
- 39:02Speaker 1: Genesis effect is rapidly aging things or rapidly making making
- 39:08Speaker 1: things evolve. So by the time they get there, these
- 39:12Speaker 1: tiny microbes have evolved into you know, like lollipop size
- 39:18Speaker 1: nummy delicious looking little bite sized morsels. And then by
- 39:22Speaker 1: the time the Klingons get there, it's a giant like snake,
- 39:25Speaker 1: evil slug thing. So yeah, I'm sorry, I've been Did
- 39:32Speaker 1: you want me to continue with the synopsis or you
- 39:34Speaker 1: want no?
- 39:34Speaker 2: No, no, that's that's fine. Yeah, you're doing good.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Okay, okay, So it's just freshened my mind. And so unfortunately,
- 39:42Speaker 1: at the same time that the gris Christ is there,
- 39:45Speaker 1: the Bird of Prey shows up and Krug says, uh,
- 39:50Speaker 1: you know, target their engines, and so the Bird of
- 39:53Speaker 1: Prey fire is on the the the Grissom and destroys it.
- 39:59Speaker 1: So now it's uh, it's it's the three of them
- 40:02Speaker 1: on the planet stranded. It's young Spock, Savog and David
- 40:06Speaker 1: Marcus and now the crew from the Bird of Prey
- 40:11Speaker 1: beamed down and they end up finding Spock and about
- 40:14Speaker 1: this time, uh, the Enterprise shows up and yeah, so
- 40:21Speaker 1: let's talk about I guess we can talk about Spock
- 40:23Speaker 1: and Saboc and and what's going on there? What? What? What?
- 40:28Speaker 1: What was your take on everything was going on?
- 40:32Speaker 2: So it was weird to me that that's I mean,
- 40:38Speaker 2: I get it. Spock didn't have his consciousness, so he
- 40:41Speaker 2: didn't know who he was. He was just like a
- 40:42Speaker 2: blank slate on the planet, right, So so that made sense.
- 40:48Speaker 2: It was an interesting way to go about it. I
- 40:53Speaker 2: think you could have gone a little bit more in
- 40:55Speaker 2: depth about how how this was an unexpected uh uh,
- 41:00Speaker 2: development in the Genesis.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Device, right, right, I don't think they That's the other
- 41:06Speaker 1: thing they talked about too.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's real quick, right, it's nothing they really
- 41:10Speaker 2: linger on.
- 41:12Speaker 1: Right. They talked about that David had to use proto matter,
- 41:16Speaker 1: which and that's why the planets falling apart.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Yeah. So like the fact that they just kind of
- 41:23Speaker 2: mention it and rushed through that, like they're not as
- 41:26Speaker 2: impressed with it. So okay, I guess, but it seems
- 41:31Speaker 2: like something that should have been a bigger deal.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Well, Savig kind of calls David out, like this is
- 41:37Speaker 1: all your fault because you used a shortcut, used cheat,
- 41:41Speaker 1: you know, yes, And he's like, that was the only
- 41:43Speaker 1: way we could do it. Is it was the only
- 41:45Speaker 1: thing that would solve certain issues. But that because of
- 41:48Speaker 1: because he used that.
- 41:50Speaker 4: Now.
- 41:50Speaker 1: See, here's the thing too, They did not use the
- 41:53Speaker 1: Genesis device as it was intended, right, They didn't use
- 41:57Speaker 1: it on a planet. This this planet was birth from
- 42:02Speaker 1: the Nebula as far as I can tell.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Was it like an asteroid at and was it.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Though it blew up from it? It was inside the
- 42:13Speaker 1: ship when it blew up. It was inside the Brando
- 42:16Speaker 1: class ship. Yeah, right, I mean, con blew it up
- 42:20Speaker 1: there and it didn't hit like a moon or a
- 42:25Speaker 1: like a lifeless rock the way it was supposed to.
- 42:27Speaker 1: So I don't know if that had anything to do
- 42:29Speaker 1: with it.
- 42:29Speaker 2: But A waiting game has a question. Since Spock goes
- 42:34Speaker 2: through pon Far on this planet and Savag helps him out,
- 42:37Speaker 2: does that mean Spock might have a kid somewhere.
- 42:39Speaker 1: I wanted to bring this up. I wanted to bring
- 42:41Speaker 1: this up because that's something that's floating around on the internet.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Uh So, Vulcans go through pond Far once every seven
- 42:48Speaker 1: years after they reach adulthood. Now what's adulthood on for
- 42:51Speaker 1: a Vulcan. Yeah, my guess is puberty. So I'm guessing
- 42:55Speaker 1: there's a time jumper on IMDb. It says Spock at seven,
- 43:00Speaker 1: Spock at fourteen, Spocket seventeen, So Spock could be going
- 43:04Speaker 1: through Ponfar like fourteen or seventeen. You know. Yeah, I
- 43:08Speaker 1: don't know what the Vulcan age of consent is, but
- 43:13Speaker 1: I've also heard that if you go through Ponfar and
- 43:16Speaker 1: you don't mate, you die. So you're Savag and you
- 43:21Speaker 1: know that Spock is let's say he's eighteen. Yeah, and
- 43:25Speaker 1: he's going through ponfar and you know that if he
- 43:28Speaker 1: doesn't mate, he will die. You have a duty and
- 43:31Speaker 1: an obligation to You have a choice either let Spock
- 43:36Speaker 1: die or mate with him. Right, we never see we
- 43:40Speaker 1: never really see Savag after this a little bit in
- 43:42Speaker 1: Star Trek four. Yeah, so it stands to reason that
- 43:47Speaker 1: there could be a little Spock baby running around somewhere.
- 43:51Speaker 1: There could be, and based on the timeline, that Spock
- 43:54Speaker 1: baby could very well exist in the Star Trek Picard timeline.
- 43:59Speaker 1: So maybe they'll do something with that someday.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Waiting made or I will die. That's extremely convenient. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 44:10Speaker 2: I'm sure that's a line that would have worked at
- 44:12Speaker 2: the Star Trek Experience quarks Bar. I'm sure people have
- 44:15Speaker 2: tried it. I'm sure people have tried it.
- 44:20Speaker 1: So, so let's see. Kirk is on the Enterprise, the
- 44:25Speaker 1: Enterprise and the Klingon Bird of Prey. Now, the Doc
- 44:31Speaker 1: Brown says the Enterprise out guns US ten to one,
- 44:34Speaker 1: so the Enterprise is much bigger warship. However, the Enterprise
- 44:39Speaker 1: limped out of space, Doc to begin with. So the
- 44:41Speaker 1: Enterprise is down the Klingon Bird of Praise. They've they've
- 44:44Speaker 1: had a little battle. So they're both sort of you know,
- 44:47Speaker 1: sitting dead in the water, and the Klingons have taken Spock,
- 44:52Speaker 1: Marcus and Savog prisoner and to to sort of say,
- 44:58Speaker 1: you know, and and Krug Commander Krug, Doc Brown tells Kirk,
- 45:03Speaker 1: I want everything you have on Genesis. I want the
- 45:06Speaker 1: Genesis device, I want the torpedo. I want everything. And
- 45:08Speaker 1: if you don't, then I'm going to kill people. And
- 45:11Speaker 1: to demonstrate his resolve, he tells his Klingon posse down
- 45:15Speaker 1: on the on the ground on the planet, kill one
- 45:17Speaker 1: of them. And so one of the Klingons breaks out
- 45:21Speaker 1: a detang my my my favorite Stark weapon, and just
- 45:25Speaker 1: before he's about to stab one of them, uh, David
- 45:28Speaker 1: turns around and fights him and uh In in the
- 45:32Speaker 1: ensuing chaos, he ends up getting stabbed and killed. Then
- 45:35Speaker 1: that's when that's when Savag Kirkirk. Yeah, so he goes
- 45:43Speaker 1: David is dead, and that's when Kirk, you know, he
- 45:46Speaker 1: does that scene where he kind of trips backward and
- 45:49Speaker 1: falls down on the floor and it's it's gut wrenching.
- 45:55Speaker 1: I mean, he just found out his his he just
- 45:57Speaker 1: found out he had a son, and now he just
- 45:59Speaker 1: found out his son has been killed and that you know,
- 46:03Speaker 1: it's not like Kirk loved Klingons before, but he's not.
- 46:07Speaker 1: He's really not.
- 46:08Speaker 2: A fan now, no not.
- 46:11Speaker 1: So that's that's when they realize that, Okay, so the
- 46:13Speaker 1: planet's about ready to be destroyed because it's you know,
- 46:16Speaker 1: David used proto matter. The the Klingons have the upper hand.
- 46:22Speaker 1: The Enterprise is kind of out for the count. The
- 46:26Speaker 1: the commanders using the two remaining hostages as leverage either
- 46:30Speaker 1: give me what I want, prepare to be boarded, or
- 46:33Speaker 1: I'm going to kill your crew. And so Kirk comes
- 46:35Speaker 1: up with a plan. You know, he's got to get
- 46:37Speaker 1: over his grief in about sixty seconds, right, and he
- 46:41Speaker 1: comes up with a plan. And so what he does
- 46:44Speaker 1: is he tells the Klingon crew, you can beam over,
- 46:46Speaker 1: you can have the ship, you can have everything, just
- 46:49Speaker 1: save you know, everybody on the surface. And so they
- 46:54Speaker 1: beam over the boarding party. The Klingon boarding party beams
- 46:57Speaker 1: over to the Enterprise, and that when Kirk and company,
- 47:04Speaker 1: Kirk beams to the planet.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Right they had set they had set the self destruct.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Right, they had set the self destruct. Kirk and crew
- 47:15Speaker 1: beamed to the planet while allowing the Klingons to beam
- 47:17Speaker 1: to the Enterprise. They have set the self destruct and
- 47:23Speaker 1: they get to the bridge just as the computers counting
- 47:26Speaker 1: down five four, three two one, and that's when the
- 47:29Speaker 1: original Enterprise, the one from the original series and Star
- 47:32Speaker 1: Trek one two in this movie, you see it explode.
- 47:36Speaker 1: And the crew of the Enterprise are on Genesis and
- 47:41Speaker 1: they watch it streak across the sky, destroying itself. And
- 47:46Speaker 1: you know, I'm not a huge Original series fan. I'm
- 47:49Speaker 1: not a huge fan of Star Trek the motion picture,
- 47:52Speaker 1: you know, but it's one, like, okay, waiting game to
- 47:56Speaker 1: set this moment is one of all time best Kirk moments. Yeah,
- 48:01Speaker 1: uh it's it. This Enterprise doesn't mean a whole lot
- 48:06Speaker 1: to me, but I felt something. And he has this line.
- 48:10Speaker 1: He looked, you know, he's next to uh McCoy and
- 48:13Speaker 1: he says, my god, bones, what have I done? And
- 48:17Speaker 1: McCoy says, what you had to do, what you always do,
- 48:20Speaker 1: turned death into a fighting chance to live. Man. Every
- 48:24Speaker 1: time I hear that lie, it gets me right here,
- 48:26Speaker 1: right here in the old blood Pumper, you know. And
- 48:30Speaker 1: uh so the Enterprise is destroyed. Kruge Krue Commander Krug
- 48:37Speaker 1: beams down, Uh, he beams the crew of the Enterprise
- 48:42Speaker 1: up to the Klingon ship as as you know, as prisoners.
- 48:46Speaker 1: And so it's just, uh, it's just Spock. No, it's
- 48:50Speaker 1: just it's just Spock. Uh. Krug and Kirk and the
- 48:54Speaker 1: and the planet is is blowing up and his earthquakes
- 48:57Speaker 1: and everything, and he says, hey, you should bleam up
- 48:59Speaker 1: you know the kid too, And Krug is like no,
- 49:02Speaker 1: and Kirk's like why and Krug's like, because you wish it,
- 49:06Speaker 1: because I'm a dick and I don't like you. So
- 49:09Speaker 1: Kirk and the commander have a fight and uh, Krug
- 49:16Speaker 1: falls off a cliff and his holding God and Kirk
- 49:19Speaker 1: as kind of a weird He's like, give me your hand.
- 49:22Speaker 1: He's gonna save him, and Krug grabs him by the
- 49:25Speaker 1: ankle and finally Kirk's just like he's had enough of him,
- 49:28Speaker 1: and that's what he says, is he boots him right
- 49:30Speaker 1: in the face. He's like, I Boom, have had Boom
- 49:33Speaker 1: enough of you. And so he grabs Bock. He grabs
- 49:39Speaker 1: a Klingon communicator and he remembers the phrase, the Klingon
- 49:45Speaker 1: phrase that Krug had used to beam the crew back up,
- 49:49Speaker 1: and so he operates a communicator says the same phrase
- 49:53Speaker 1: and and the KR Klingon transporter operator buys it, beat
- 49:57Speaker 1: him up, and they take the Klingons by surprise, and
- 50:03Speaker 1: do you want to talk about what happened there too? Like, no, No,
- 50:07Speaker 1: I've been doing a lot of talking.
- 50:10Speaker 2: It's been like a week and a half since I
- 50:11Speaker 2: seen the movies.
- 50:12Speaker 1: So I'm like, okay, all right. So so now the
- 50:17Speaker 1: planet's about to explode, and now the crew have overtaken
- 50:21Speaker 1: the I think there's like one Klingon that's left, uh
- 50:24Speaker 1: John Larkett, but yeah, it's actually John. Yeah, it plays
- 50:30Speaker 1: that click and Kirk's like help us or die, and
- 50:34Speaker 1: and John like I do not deserve to live, and
- 50:38Speaker 1: Kirk's like fine, I'll kill you later. Yeah. So they're
- 50:42Speaker 1: trying to figure out how to operate this click got
- 50:44Speaker 1: ship this burt of prey, and they managed to escape
- 50:47Speaker 1: just in the nick of time. They fly to Vulcan
- 50:50Speaker 1: and they and then they yeah, they asked the High Priestess,
- 50:55Speaker 1: we want to put his brain back in his head
- 51:00Speaker 1: and she's like all right, cool. She does like a
- 51:02Speaker 1: double Klingon or a double Vulcan yea mine, and and
- 51:08Speaker 1: the mind meld works and Spock is like, all right,
- 51:11Speaker 1: here you go and yeah, and at first, yeah, this.
- 51:17Speaker 2: Spock's even like he's not quite himself yet, but you
- 51:20Speaker 2: can see that he's going to be.
- 51:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not it's not instant. It's not instant.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Yeah, you know. He thanks Kirk for for helping him
- 51:31Speaker 2: kind of in his way, he doesn't like.
- 51:33Speaker 1: He looks at him and he goes, uh, you can
- 51:36Speaker 1: kind of see the memory coming back to him. And
- 51:37Speaker 1: he looks at me and goes ship out of danger. He's like, yeah,
- 51:40Speaker 1: you should saved the ship. And then he starts to
- 51:43Speaker 1: walk away and he turns back around and he goes, Jim,
- 51:48Speaker 1: your name is Jim. And so you can tell that
- 51:51Speaker 1: he's gonna he sort of got.
- 51:52Speaker 2: It's coming back to him. Yeah, it's coming back to So.
- 51:54Speaker 1: So now it's the whole crew. Ahora has rejoined everybody
- 51:58Speaker 1: on Vulcan. It's the whole crew, right, and they've got
- 52:01Speaker 1: the thing on Bird of Prey and that sets everything
- 52:03Speaker 1: up for the for the final of what most people
- 52:05Speaker 1: consider a trilogy of movies.
- 52:07Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. So, according to Rotten Tomatoes, this
- 52:12Speaker 2: got a seventy eight percent with the critics, seventy percent
- 52:15Speaker 2: with the U with the audience, it is considered one
- 52:20Speaker 2: of not the worst, but you know, it's not considered
- 52:23Speaker 2: top tier. I'm surprised by the scores. Honestly.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I actually really liked this film. Yeah, okay, I
- 52:31Speaker 1: I did not. I did not lump this in with
- 52:34Speaker 1: the uh, you know, the odd numbered movies being being bad. Yeah,
- 52:39Speaker 1: this is nowhere, this is not This is not Star
- 52:43Speaker 1: Trek five. Yeah, this is nowhere near as bad as
- 52:46Speaker 1: Star Trek five, right or Start Trek one. It's yeah,
- 52:50Speaker 1: you know, it's it's it's a I thought it was
- 52:52Speaker 1: a good film. I thought, okay, that that's the note
- 52:55Speaker 1: that I had taken. Yeah, you know what I really
- 52:58Speaker 1: liked about this movie.
- 52:59Speaker 2: What's the pacing.
- 53:01Speaker 1: I love pacing of this movie because even like in
- 53:05Speaker 1: Star Trek one, obviously you're like, okay, what time is it?
- 53:09Speaker 1: How long is this gonna be? Even in Star Trek two,
- 53:12Speaker 1: there is some long lulls between action or between important
- 53:16Speaker 1: dialogue or plot points in this movie. I didn't I
- 53:20Speaker 1: don't remember looking at my phone, like I just watched
- 53:23Speaker 1: the movie and and I you know, sometimes when you
- 53:26Speaker 1: rewatch a movie for the umpteenth time, you're like, Oh,
- 53:28Speaker 1: when is this part gonna happen? I didn't feel myself
- 53:31Speaker 1: thinking that. I thought the pacing of this movie was really,
- 53:34Speaker 1: really good, and I think that's a testament to Lennon
- 53:37Speaker 1: Nimoy directing.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you did a good job directing. I
- 53:43Speaker 2: think the movie, for what it is, I think I
- 53:47Speaker 2: think is fine. I did get in my head what
- 53:50Speaker 2: I would have done, and now I'm I'm like, I
- 53:53Speaker 2: want to see that.
- 53:56Speaker 1: Let's talk about that.
- 53:57Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, so so my you know, my idea of
- 54:03Speaker 2: watching this movie. I think you had an opportunity that
- 54:07Speaker 2: that you could not that they didn't take that I
- 54:10Speaker 2: think would have not necessarily better, but different.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Right.
- 54:15Speaker 2: I think what you could have done is that the
- 54:19Speaker 2: Klingons pick up Spock on the planet first, right, Like,
- 54:23Speaker 2: that's your that's maybe your opening. And and Spock is
- 54:27Speaker 2: just a child, but he's he's with the Klingons, and
- 54:31Speaker 2: the Klingons don't know what to make of him, right,
- 54:33Speaker 2: And and they're they're trying to figure out what is
- 54:37Speaker 2: this child doing on this planet by himself? It appears
- 54:40Speaker 2: to be out of nowhere. They they find the the
- 54:44Speaker 2: Federation pod and they're like what what is this? Is
- 54:48Speaker 2: this like some sort of experiment, And they're trying to
- 54:51Speaker 2: get out of Spock, like are you a weapon? What
- 54:54Speaker 2: is going on?
- 54:56Speaker 1: Why?
- 54:56Speaker 2: Why are on this isolated planet? Are they doing this?
- 54:59Speaker 2: They're true, they're just trying to figure it out, right,
- 55:02Speaker 2: But what they notice is Spock is growing exponentially, right, Sure,
- 55:09Speaker 2: he's raising and so now they're like, oh, if he's
- 55:13Speaker 2: if he's growing this fast, maybe they've got a weapon
- 55:15Speaker 2: and we can turn warriors much faster.
- 55:18Speaker 1: Right.
- 55:20Speaker 2: Yeah, So like they're interested in Spock, right, So they're
- 55:24Speaker 2: trying to get him to explain everything, but but he
- 55:27Speaker 2: will not because he doesn't know. He's you know, he's
- 55:30Speaker 2: just a blank slate, right, So you you accelerate the timeline,
- 55:35Speaker 2: like maybe a month later, he's now a full of
- 55:37Speaker 2: grown adult, right, And because he's Vulcan, but he's raised Klingons.
- 55:44Speaker 2: He is a brutal tactician. He's just logical. He is
- 55:48Speaker 2: not you know, he is not compassionate. He's just obsessed
- 55:54Speaker 2: with winning and that's all he wants to do, right,
- 55:57Speaker 2: So you do everything else with sarh, Hey, where my son?
- 56:00Speaker 2: What's going on. And meanwhile, there is word that the
- 56:05Speaker 2: Klingons have this new general who's just a brutally efficient killer,
- 56:11Speaker 2: and he's out there and he's searching for something from
- 56:14Speaker 2: the Federation. He wants the Genesis device, right, they don't
- 56:17Speaker 2: know what it is yet, but that's what he wants.
- 56:20Speaker 2: And so you do this thing with Kirk. You know,
- 56:24Speaker 2: Kirk still thinks, oh, I gotta go save my friend, right.
- 56:26Speaker 2: He doesn't know what, he doesn't care about anything. He
- 56:29Speaker 2: hears about the problem and he's like, yeah, good luck
- 56:31Speaker 2: with that. I gotta go find my friend, right, because
- 56:34Speaker 2: that's kind of where he's at. And so they give
- 56:38Speaker 2: him a ship. They don't give him the best ship,
- 56:40Speaker 2: but they're like, here you go find your friend. We
- 56:42Speaker 2: got we got too much else to deal with, near nonsense.
- 56:45Speaker 1: So here you go.
- 56:46Speaker 2: So he goes with his crew and he goes looking
- 56:48Speaker 2: for it and they run into they calling on bird
- 56:51Speaker 2: or prey and they get attacked and it is just
- 56:56Speaker 2: not only do they take the spock running, this bird
- 57:00Speaker 2: of prey take down Kirk, but he can anticipate what
- 57:03Speaker 2: Kirk is about to do. And Kirk is like, what
- 57:06Speaker 2: the hell, Like, this guy knows my tricks what right,
- 57:11Speaker 2: And then that's when he comes on the viewer and
- 57:13Speaker 2: you see Spock, but you see Spock in the in
- 57:16Speaker 2: the Klingon, you know, uh yeah, yeah yeah, And he's
- 57:21Speaker 2: the leader, and he's just brutally efficient and and he's like,
- 57:26Speaker 2: you will tell us about the device, you will explain
- 57:28Speaker 2: to us what's going on. We want it like just
- 57:31Speaker 2: just being a Klingon, right, And so it is basically
- 57:35Speaker 2: Kirk versus Spock. And and you have what's better, right,
- 57:40Speaker 2: instinct and experience versus just brutal logic. Right, and you
- 57:44Speaker 2: have that dynamic, right you even do or Spock ends
- 57:49Speaker 2: up killing David, So now it's it's it's Kirk is like,
- 57:54Speaker 2: oh my god, do I save my friend or do
- 57:57Speaker 2: I kill the guy who killed my son? Right? Because
- 58:01Speaker 2: you still have spots contra within Bones. His friend is there, right,
- 58:08Speaker 2: but but he dude killed his son, right, So like
- 58:13Speaker 2: what do you do?
- 58:14Speaker 1: Right? Yeah?
- 58:17Speaker 2: And uh. And so eventually gets down to a big
- 58:19Speaker 2: fight and Kirk is going to kill Spot because that's it.
- 58:23Speaker 2: He's had it, you know, He's about to kill him,
- 58:26Speaker 2: and Bones is like, please don't, but he says it
- 58:28Speaker 2: like in the in the Spock syllas of doing it right,
- 58:32Speaker 2: and he remembers his friend. They go to Vulcan, they
- 58:36Speaker 2: save him, they reunite him, but now Kirk can never
- 58:42Speaker 2: see Spock the same way because their their friendship is damaged. Right,
- 58:48Speaker 2: And and the thing, here's the other thing. Spock remembers
- 58:52Speaker 2: everything he did. It's not like you just went away. Yeah, okay,
- 59:01Speaker 2: that's what I would have done.
- 59:02Speaker 1: Let me tell you what my thoughts were as you
- 59:04Speaker 1: were describing. I stopped picturing William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, ok,
- 59:11Speaker 1: And I started picturing Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, because.
- 59:16Speaker 1: In my mind, you just wrote Star Trek four in
- 59:20Speaker 1: my mind, or you just wrote Star Trek four and five. Yeah,
- 59:25Speaker 1: you know. Uh, like at the very beginning of the movie,
- 59:29Speaker 1: Spock dies somehow, uh, and then the rest of the
- 59:32Speaker 1: picture is exactly as you described. With the JJ crew,
- 59:36Speaker 1: that's I mean, that's to me, that's you know, but yeah,
- 59:41Speaker 1: you have that idea would have brought so much more everything.
- 59:48Speaker 2: I like. I like it slightly, yeah, I mean, but yeah,
- 59:57Speaker 2: I think it's good too.
- 59:58Speaker 1: So I'm curious to hear whatever any thoughts in the comments.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: And yeah, I'm curious. Face will be like, no, that's terrible.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Why would you do such a thing.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Exactly? So, yeah, go to the facebook page, the Facebook
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: group trek cast and put in, uh, what you think
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: about uh Daniel's idea and what your ideas would have been.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: And we want to see some memes too. I want
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: to see some of the memes.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: Oh for sure, for sure. Yeah yeah, so yeah, so
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: that was my idea. And then when that didn't happen,
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: now I'm like, damn it.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: There are a ton of trivia items in the I
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: m dB. I just wanted to go over a couple
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: of them real quick.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: Oh waiting game. I think it was genius. I wish
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: that movie existed.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Yeah, me too, me too. The uh we all know
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: that Christy Ally didn't come back. Uh there's a long
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: winded explanation. Basically, they couldn't.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: Afford her, right, she.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Thought her Her crap was pretty pretty good. I didn't
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: notice this at first, but in the opening credits there
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: is a six second long pause between William Shadner and DeForest.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: Kelly's name mm hm, when normally there would only be
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: a one second pause like for the rest of the names.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: There was a one second pause. That was because that
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: space would have been where Leonard Nimoy's name was, And
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: I thought that was a really cool kind of thing
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: that they did. Yeah. Yeah, so we talked again about
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: Robin Curtis, who portrayed Savag. I liked her. I thought
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: she did a good job. She'll she'll have a bit
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: part in the next movie, and then she'll also be
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: in a couple of fan made productions.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Oh that's right. Yeah, yeah, she was in a few
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: of them.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Yeah, So good film. A lot of Like I said,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: I didn't watch a lot of the special if. I
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: didn't have time to watch a lot of the special features,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: and there are a ton of special feeds and behind
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: the scenes for this movie, especially their decision to destroy
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: the enterprise, you know, because that was kind of a
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: big deal.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: Right right, Yeah, that was a big deal back then.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so that was the original you know, that's the
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: original enterprise from their first from the original series five
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: year mission. So yeah, yeah, good film. I liked it.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: Yeah, so I thought it was all right, But then
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: I came up with mine, and then I was pissed.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: So I like yours better. Yeah, in my head canon,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: that is going to be like an alternate quantum universe
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: version of what happened.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: A waiting game. They recast Savag in the Voyage Home.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Right, say, it's the same actress as this movie.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's the same one.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: So she has a little bit part where she she
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: has a little conversation with Captain Kirk in Voyage Home
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: about uh, telling Kirk how David died and how brave
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: he was right, but didn't mention anything about being pregnant. No, no,
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: which in my head, Cannon, she definitely is pregnant.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's that Spock's baby mama.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Absolutely yeah, all right, all right, well let's uh, oh
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: you know what I just thought, Yeah, what's that?
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of the timeline in the Ages.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: But if if he ever had a bit part in
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: like a Legacy or something like that, m Adam Nimoy
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: could trey Spock's son in like, I think the Ages
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: would line up about right at like Vulcan being half
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: you know, he'd be about a one hundred and ten,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: you know, Adam Nimoy being don't all sixty fifty five whatever, sixty.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: Yeah, something like that.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: I think the Ages would line up about right if
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: he were to have like a cameo as Savog and
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: spocks son. Oh that's interesting, So I'll give you that
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: one for free. Paramount.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: There you go, I mean, yeah, yeah, that would be good.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: I guess you could do that in strange worlds.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Oh sure, sure, yeah, if they were in the like
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: the future or something, because you.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: Know, to get cigarettes on riise I never came home.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: I mean, Star Trek does have a long, proud tradition
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: of bad dads.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: That's true. That's true. I mean in Fox Defense, the
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: home world where uh, Savog got pregnant on doesn't exist anymore.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: So right right, fair enough? All right, well we should
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: probably get to listener feedback. So yep, let's get.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: To that.
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: Listener feedback.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Remember, Uh, let's tell all the ways that listeners can
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: feed back. They can call into the show if you
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: want to bring that up. Yeah, I got you on
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: the spot right here to call us show and leave
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: us a voicemail. Uh, and you can say anything you
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: want to. This isn't somebody's number. This nobody's gonna pick up.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: It's just go straight to voicemail. So you can just
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: you know, tell us your thoughts about the show or whatever,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: reviewing anything Star Trek or how life is going. Uh,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: just call five seven zero six six one zero zero
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: zero one. Operators are not standing by, so just leave
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: us a message and tell us what your thoughts are.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: That's right, and then you can email the show at
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: trek cast TG at gmail dot com. You can you
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: can email me personally at Strongbeard one seven o one
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: at gmail dot com.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: You can also, uh, you know, follow us and and
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: comment on our on our Facebook and Instagram and YouTube
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: So right on, and then, uh, jazzmus has already clicked
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: the link, so he's already there.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Okay, let me bring me in there he is. Oh,
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: he's ready to go barely. So what's up, Chazz Bizz?
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: Well, I saw this. I didn't see the X up
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: and then I saw the stream yard. That's funny.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: That's funny. So did you watch the movie or remember
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: I watched it.
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: Two weeks ago? So okay, yeah, it's one of those
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: things like now what happened? Oh yeah, Christopher Lloyd grabs
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: a penis monster and squeezes.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Yeah, the first thing on the planet.
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: He sees the monster and just like.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: I love the fact that he looks at it, picks
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: it up, it tries to strangle him. He like squeezes
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: it and kills it and drops it and makes a
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: point to call his ship and say nothing going on here. Yep,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Like that is the most klingon thing that he could
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: have done.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: Yes, did you like the movie?
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: I did.
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: I think it's not my favorite one.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: But I still liked it.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it's my favor but it's okay.
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: It's one of those things if they had a bigger
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: budget at that bar sing at the beginning, because it
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: looked like, you know, I had wood paneling and it
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: looked like everything nineteen eighty three year for when.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: You didn't like the grid line two the air like
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: airplane dog fight video game.
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: Yeah, it's such a cheesy bar.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: But when they you know, it reminded me of a
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: like like a canteena from Star Wars.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: Yeah, they're never trying to replicate it, but they poorly
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: executed it. Yeah, you know for a movie like really cheap. Yeah,
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: you guys gotta spent a little bit more time on
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: this scene, right, just to clean it up. Make god
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: a cool like, make more aliens.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: Well, and one of the in that scene, I was confused.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: They could have cast an actor that played the security
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: officer that caught McCoy that didn't look exactly like the
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: admiral that Kirk talked to.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean they had the same like inflections and
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: tones and and things like that, and I'm like, that
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: could have been his brother. Yeah right, you know.
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: And then when they stealed the ship, you know, of
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: course like that part as you have this brand new
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: ship that's supposed to outpace him and then it's Scotty
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: Stills the parts on it.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: So yeah, that was confusing, you know, that Space Doc.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: I did enjoy the Space Doc. Yeah, when they were
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: coming into not when they were being still, not when
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: they were stealing the Enterprise, but when they were coming
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: into and everybody saw all the battle damage, you know,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: And there was a cameo by grace Ley Whitney as
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: Yeoman Rand. She's she's the one that looks at it
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: and just goes, wow, look at all that damage. So
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: she had a little cameo there. But yeah, I was
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: a little confused about, Uh, the Captain of the Excelsior
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: goes if he tries to get a warp get away
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: at warp he's in for a surprise, like.
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: They had Transford and you know that they could go.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Like did he say that because he was because his
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: the order before that was like lock onto a tractor being.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: I thought he was going to be.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: Surprised because they mentioned the transworp thing, right, is that
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: what you're talking about?
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: They did mention the transworp thing.
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: Yeah, who knows what that means?
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: Yeah, they never really brought it back, right, and then
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: you hear the.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: What I've read is that Elskier itself was a great success,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: like the most us will Starship Design and Starfleet history.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Transwarp part just it was unreliable, Yeah, until Voyager used
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: it to go to warp ten.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: Right. Well maybe it's like the maybe it's it's like
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: the spore drive. Right, it just wasn't a technology they
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: could use, so they mothballed it, right Yeah.
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: Yeah, maybe they made lizard babies and then they're that's right,
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: we can't do that.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: That's why that'shile does lizards know what's up?
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: Yeah? It was like we just screwed up with the genesis.
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: We can't have lizard babies, now, that's right.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: Yeah, the the Excelsior coming to a halt, you know,
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: the it said the computer said maximum transwort velocity in
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: five four three two one, and then you hear the
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: engine sputter, like.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and.
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: Now Kirk had a beautiful perm on here.
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: Yes he did.
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: It had a little puff to it.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: He had definitely gone to the style.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: As he used to say, on fleet, fleet, no, on fleet.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: So as you guys were talking, I was thinking about, like,
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: oh man, what you would have done with the sequel
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: in my in my theoretical film, right, And then I
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: thought like, well, so you would have to have Spock
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: and Kirk trying to re establish the relationship in the
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: follow up film, right because right now Kirk doesn't trust
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: him at all, right, or or doesn't want anything to
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: do with him. But also, how do you forgive your
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: friend when he basically has no emotions after killing your son,
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: right right, that's when.
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: You do the voyage and yeah, get together, Yeah, you
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: give wacking adventure. Yeah, and that's his way out.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like you.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: Kind of form that bond again, right, right, because are
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: in peril, They're going to lose Earth. And then you
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: gotta say.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: The whales, right, you gotta say the whales and be
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: on LDS.
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, all right, but it was you know,
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: this one was fun for for thirty and plus. It's
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: was a Leonard new moist. It was his first directorial debut,
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: was this, I think?
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: So? Yeah, he had directed like.
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: TV shows or something.
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and like Broadway stuff or whatever that Broadway. But
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: still what was.
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: The box office on this?
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: That?
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: Oh? I don't know, because I know made.
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: Like one hundred something hundred and thirty million worldwide.
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: I'm pulling up ox Office Mojo right now. Domestically made
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: seventy six million worldwide, it made eighty thousand. Yeah, that's
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: that's what it says.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: It might not have had a well, that doesn't make sense.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: It was leonardnymoy's directorial debut. He had done stage and television,
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: including an episode of TJ. Hooker. Yeah, every buddy, William Shatner,
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: a lot of Klingon, a lot of Klingon dialogue in this. Oh,
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: Mark o'krand actually took He was the one that wrote
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: the Klingon English Dictionary. He took dialogue from previous movies
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: and TV shows, most of which was made up by
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: James Dowan and extrapulated from that and kind of created
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: a language and language laws and rules for the Klingon language.
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: So I just looked it up. Uh, the Searchers's Block
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: had a box office, had a budget of seventeen million,
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: and a box office of seventy six point four million,
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: so made money. Definitely made money.
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: Well, it just shows you that they didn't have to
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: spend thirteen million dollars on an actor.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: Right, Well, yeah, you didn't back then neither, so yeah.
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: Yeah, And it's kind of like when you look at
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: Section thirty one movie, how much they they spent on
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: that was outrageous.
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: Well yeah, and your cost basis are different nowadays.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, everything.
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: But the thing is we're spending about one hundred twenty
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: million on a TV you know, right, give me a movie.
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: That's a lot of money.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: What is it?
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: Like?
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: An episode of Discovery was like I think eight million
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: in episode yeah, something like that. Yeah.
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: Yeah, And that's what they're saying is the budgets have
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: gotten out of hand lately.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, it's.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: And you need to go back tising money to recap it, right,
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: relying on subscription base, Well you.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: You kind of are now like Paramount Plus has got
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: an ad level, right, Yeah, watch shows but all you're
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: doing is recreating TV again.
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: So any news on the sky Dance buy out.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: No, there, We're still just waiting on lawsuits to finish through.
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: I know that they've got their they're working with the
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: Trump administration right now. Apparently there was a lawsuit with
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: with sixty Minutes that they're trying to settle. So once
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: that's settled, that should pave the way for the sale.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: But even then the sale is being blocked by another
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: lawsuit with Skuydance is trying to prove that I forget,
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: the other company does not have a legitimate bid. So
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: it's it's just a nightmare all around.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that the Trump lawsuit with this, it's it's affecting.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: Like I was reading a little bit about this because
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: I want I'm trying to figure out when is Paramount
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: going to get you know, get their asks together.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: It won't be this year. I don't think.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: No, it's not gonna be this year. But the Trump
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: administration is, Yeah, the sixty minute lawsuit, they're kind of
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: waiting to see what happens with that because there's been
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: more lawsuits because the Trump administration is basically saying any
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: news organization or outlet that says anything mean about me.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: You're not allowed to do that anymore. Right, I'm not
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: going to say anything more about that, but it's affecting
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: the paramount sale and issue, and so I've been watching
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: that closely because I you know, I I've got some
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: strong feelings I won't go into right now about the
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: paramount sale and how it's gonna affect the future of
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Star Trek, because I think the future of Star Trek
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: is is is on thin ice right now.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: It feels that way.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: I think we are. I think we're this close, very
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: close to the Star Trek franchising disappearing, maybe not forever,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: but for a long time because of the current climate
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: in in in entertainment and and the sale of these
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: large companies.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: Which is funny because you can argue like, well, you've
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: got strange worlds and you've got Starfleet Academy coming, but
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: it's becoming they're not doing what the fans want because
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: like even now, like the fans keep seeing legacy, right yeah,
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: and that's not happening.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: So it looks like these companies are kind of playing
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: it safe. They're they're they're not taking big risks.
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: Like bold moves but they're not going with in any direction.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: It sounds like they're being they're they're like a committee's
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: taking over.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: Well, it's it's it's the idea of in your quest
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: for the elusive casual fan, you're carrying away at your.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: Hardcore fans, right right, exactly, And if.
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: You don't have that committee, Yeah.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: The committee's coming in, going I don't understand the Star
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: Trek stuff. Let's let's broaden it, let's generalize it, let's
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: not you know, Yeah, that's what I'm keeping an eye on.
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: So we'll bee you know, they're not showing like how
- 1:18:14Speaker 4: many new fans have they added in the past decade
- 1:18:17Speaker 4: pretty much. Yeah, this is the younger generations, the Zennials
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: and the millennials. Those are the ones you get to
- 1:18:24Speaker 4: tap into.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: Yeah, so okay, so I will make this analogy. But
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: basically there's a very similar thing in pro wrestling. There
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: for a long time, the WWE, you know, still is
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: the biggest game in town, right, But the fans were
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: not happy. The hardcore fans were not happy with it,
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: so much so that a competitor organization got together and
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: created a whole new company called aew AW was backed
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: by another billionaire, and that thing is now the second
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: largest promotion in the world, and it's not close, it's
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: not close to WWE, but the fact that they went
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: from zero to second biggest in the world in just
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: a few years shows that there was a you know,
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: desire for something different and now all the hardcorees are
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: basically with aw Similarly, when Star Trek came out, yeah, well,
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: when Star Trek rebooted it and we got discovering all
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: that we had the Orville, and the Orville filled that
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: spot for a lot of people, right, Yeah, it was
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: really more of what we actually wanted. And people still
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: are like, hey, when's the Orbville gonna come out? What's
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: going on with it? And then and then we got
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: a little taste of it with Picard season three, and
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: that has had the fans like latched on, like, give
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: us legacy. What's going on? We want that legacy And
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: and so it's just enough to keep it like people
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: want it, but if they don't do it right, they're
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: gonna they're gonna shoot their own fan base on the foot.
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: So yeah, and then people are gonna forget because what
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: that was that two or three years.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: Ago that it's like two year two almost half years.
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: Yeah, because it's it's been a while.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: It's been a while, and so if you.
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: Let's say you do Legacy, you're gonna be about five
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: years out.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: Yeah, you know because Terry Mdallas is doing the.
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: When it takes time to build those sets and write
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: those scripts, like you don't just turn that on.
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: High the actors, Yeah, contract them and just ask I
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: had to do it.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Well it was a whole like we can get
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: a whole nother show on this, but well.
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: You know, and like I said, AI, maybe they'll do it,
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: you know. Yeah, maybe in the future you'll have somebody
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: make their own shows with a.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: I maybe within the next ten years, I will be
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: able to watch ar Trek Day Space nine, Season eight,
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: episode one, and it'll look just like it is.
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: Every Yeah, it's like every few months there's something new
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: with it. Yeah, and you're just like kind of blown away.
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's like, well.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: If what I really like to see is like to
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: let them let us with the AI, don't put any
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: restrictions on it for personal use. That way, I can
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: watch that episode and I can watch Daniel's Star Trek
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Uh number three. I want to see Star Trek three,
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: the Search for Spock Daniel, Yeah, because that would be
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: and I think within ten years, I should, you know,
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: I within five years, I should be able to do it. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: I think one day, one day soon, Daniel me you,
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Dan Chas Biz we're going to do a review on
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: the the Reyes version of Star Trek three.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: Maybe maybe it will be like T Bear or I
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: would take the meeting to go right for the Yeah,
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: I definitely take that meeting. So all right, well we
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: should probably wrap it up. We've been going pretty long today.
- 1:22:16Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: Yeah, so next time.
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: You get the I guarantee you Dan will be here
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: next week because it's.
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: The yeah, the good ones, and somehow.
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: Dan will show up on the even numbers.
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: That's right, that's right.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: We look forward to seeing Dan and so hit us
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: up on all the socials. Everybody.
