- 0:00Speaker 1: Podcast. Welcome to me Eater Trivia, the only game show
- 0:13Speaker 1: where conservation always wins. I'm your guest host Jannis Potelus,
- 0:18Speaker 1: and today we're joined by me Editer Trivia host Spencer
- 0:22Speaker 1: Newheart's Badass Brodie Henderson, Randall Williams or just Doc for short,
- 0:28Speaker 1: Tony Peterson, my personal white tail sense Riveting Reva Hansen,
- 0:33Speaker 1: Max Barda, the world's best unknown water fowler, Chester Cheddar Floyd,
- 0:39Speaker 1: and Christine Siwiki. My favorite HR person outside of my
- 0:43Speaker 1: own mother, Oh yeah, who? My mother was a great
- 0:48Speaker 1: ask anybody that worked at her company. She was a
- 0:50Speaker 1: great HR perst.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Will Then we didn't play the drop cause it's coming up.
- 0:57Speaker 3: We're so far away from a drift finish over there.
- 1:04Speaker 1: This is a ten round quiz show with questions from
- 1:06Speaker 1: meat eaters four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking.
- 1:12Speaker 1: There is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five hundred
- 1:16Speaker 1: dollars to the conservation organization of the winners choosing the
- 1:21Speaker 1: stat for the stat This week, we're looking at player
- 1:24Speaker 1: performance from the first time that I Guess hosted that
- 1:27Speaker 1: took place ten months ago in episode four hundred and
- 1:31Speaker 1: sixty nine. The winning score that day was a whopping four,
- 1:36Speaker 1: and the average player score was two point three, which
- 1:38Speaker 1: is the lowest ever for a game of meat eater trivia.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Over half of the players got fewer than two correct answers,
- 1:46Speaker 1: and the game included three zero percenters. That sounds like
- 1:53Speaker 1: a shitty game of trivia, Like not fun at all
- 1:56Speaker 1: to play questions. Okay, Interestingly it was spent through who
- 2:00Speaker 1: won that day and.
- 2:01Speaker 2: We had a gas leak.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Uh yeah, we had to stop playing because of that.
- 2:08Speaker 4: That was ten months ago.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, and I threw a beer on the roof
- 2:11Speaker 5: of chili. It was awesome.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I decided then that the next time Spencer would let
- 2:16Speaker 1: me guest host, I was gonna pitch a full trivia
- 2:20Speaker 1: game of softballs.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Okay, it's close, so you think there's a chance you
- 2:24Speaker 2: over corrected and there's gonna be.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Like no, because the the uh, we'll skip ahead. Jennifer
- 2:31Speaker 1: played quickly this morning and scored for so Jennifer index
- 2:37Speaker 1: is eight today. Let's see, Phil, you have seen my
- 2:44Speaker 1: questions for today's round of trivia. Do you think it's
- 2:47Speaker 1: easier than last year? And do you think Spencer has
- 2:50Speaker 1: a good shot at win? Number two.
- 2:53Speaker 6: I couldn't tell you. On the spencer front, I will
- 2:56Speaker 6: say I think it's a little bit easier there. I
- 2:58Speaker 6: think there is there are one you that I think
- 3:01Speaker 6: have a chance to be zero percenters. I will say, God, So.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Either way over corrected, it's going to be too easy
- 3:08Speaker 2: or were where we were.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Someone wins with a eight, that's like, yeah, that's right.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Where you last game Brody won with a seven, So
- 3:18Speaker 2: don't remind us.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Instead of doing an I F a Q this week,
- 3:25Speaker 1: which is infrequently asked questions, we're bringing back the zero
- 3:30Speaker 1: percenter segment. This is a test of how much knowledge
- 3:33Speaker 1: players have retained from previous games. This question was from
- 3:38Speaker 1: you guessed that the episode that I hosted. The topic
- 3:41Speaker 1: was butchering, and nobody got it right. The question was,
- 3:45Speaker 1: when butchering an animal, what is the process of removing
- 3:48Speaker 1: the trach? Yet and esophag is called the incorrect answer
- 3:52Speaker 1: is given.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Is anybody gonna guess the correct answer?
- 3:55Speaker 1: Oh? Okay, go ahead. I thought we would say that
- 3:57Speaker 1: and then you can try to guess other crazy.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Maybe you'll get the same wrong answers.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Again.
- 4:02Speaker 4: I remembered a question, but I don't remember the answer.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Nobody knows.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Listen, don't feel bad because uh, Spencer actually helped me
- 4:09Speaker 1: out with that part of this, and I couldn't remember either.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Wasn't anybody.
- 4:19Speaker 5: It's on the tip of my tongue.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I had to I wrote like three hours ago, and
- 4:24Speaker 2: I don't even remember. It's like wheezing, dung, weezingd weezing.
- 4:31Speaker 2: All right, let's see housekeeping. Also, from the last time
- 4:36Speaker 2: I thought I had, you know, I had such an
- 4:38Speaker 2: even though.
- 4:38Speaker 1: It hard game. I thought my questions were good but
- 4:41Speaker 1: not quite perfect. I asked a question about geography, and
- 4:46Speaker 1: the question was what Canadian province sits between Maine and
- 4:50Speaker 1: the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The correct answer in my
- 4:54Speaker 1: game was New Brunswick bought a bunch of well, a
- 4:57Speaker 1: bunch a dozen listeners wrote in saying there should be
- 5:00Speaker 1: multiple correct answers, including Quebec, which Brody provided, Nova Scotia,
- 5:06Speaker 1: which Spencer provided, and Prince Edward Island, which no one's provided.
- 5:12Speaker 1: So I'll retroactively award Brody and Spencer their points, but
- 5:16Speaker 1: that doesn't change anything because those two went to a tiebreaker.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Anyways, some angry Canadians Yanni about us messing up the geograph.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Look. I stared at that Matt for a while. I
- 5:29Speaker 1: don't I don't know how I mess up.
- 5:32Speaker 2: You don't speak Canadian?
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that could be it French. All right, so we
- 5:36Speaker 1: know today's Jennifer index for the show is four, so
- 5:39Speaker 1: the winner ought to get about eight with that. Let's
- 5:42Speaker 1: start the show. Play the drop, Phil.
- 5:47Speaker 5: Look, I need to know what I stand and wind everything.
- 5:52Speaker 7: How's that just tend to win everything?
- 6:01Speaker 1: Game on, suckers.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 6:05Speaker 5: What happened to our little light show?
- 6:07Speaker 6: I was having trouble with those lights. They weren't holding
- 6:09Speaker 6: onto a charge.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Randall.
- 6:10Speaker 6: I think there was something wrong with one of them.
- 6:12Speaker 6: I apologize, I'm sorry. My experiences made up.
- 6:16Speaker 3: For it with a scoreboard.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Thanks, ready, Randall says, apology not accepted, though.
- 6:22Speaker 5: I mean it'll be nice when we can get some
- 6:24Speaker 5: working lights back in there.
- 6:26Speaker 6: I'll keep that in mind.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Question one, name the author of these quotes. I'm gonna
- 6:33Speaker 1: give you two who number one? You might as well
- 6:37Speaker 1: learn that a man who catches fish or shoots game
- 6:40Speaker 1: has got to make it fit to eat before he sleeps.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Otherwise it's all a waste and a sin to take it.
- 6:47Speaker 1: If you can't use it. The second quote, time just
- 6:52Speaker 1: seems to fly away for a boy that I suppose
- 6:56Speaker 1: is why one day you wake up suddenly he ain't
- 6:59Speaker 1: a boy? In longer? Is it? Ernest Hemingway, Robert Ruark,
- 7:05Speaker 1: Peter Capstick or Aldough Leopold. Okay, even before I could
- 7:11Speaker 1: finish reading, I have at least three boards down more
- 7:15Speaker 1: are writing A couple are thinking. I'm feeling pretty good
- 7:20Speaker 1: about myself.
- 7:21Speaker 6: First, I will say this originally was not a multiple
- 7:24Speaker 6: choice question.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Yes, so it wasn't happy it is gives me a chance. Tony,
- 7:31Speaker 1: would you have gotten it if it wasn't multiple choice?
- 7:33Speaker 5: Yep, you would have. Yeah, assuming I have a correct
- 7:40Speaker 5: I would have as well.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Christina, are you still thinking?
- 7:44Speaker 3: Spencer?
- 7:45Speaker 2: Answer now I'm second guessing. I'm always fig.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Okay, everybody go ahead and reveal your answers. Reva Although Leopold,
- 7:57Speaker 1: Christine Hemingway, Tony Ark, Randall, Ruarc, Spencer Ruarc, Chester, Leopold,
- 8:04Speaker 1: Max Hemingway, and Brody Ruarc.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Can I tell you my strategy? I picked the one
- 8:08Speaker 2: that I thought you wouldn't have come up with. I
- 8:11Speaker 2: thought the other three you would have come up with
- 8:13Speaker 2: this fake answers. Hmmm, because I've written games of trivia before,
- 8:16Speaker 2: and I thought this one seems like one despite having
- 8:19Speaker 2: no idea what the correct answer is.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Interesting, Well, I use that next time. I feel like
- 8:24Speaker 1: the second quote gives it away, because you know, Robert
- 8:28Speaker 1: Ruark wrote his most famous piece is the Old Man
- 8:31Speaker 1: and the Boy, and U in there. He's in there,
- 8:35Speaker 1: He's constantly talking to his young mentee.
- 8:38Speaker 3: He should read that, Spencer, Okay, yeah.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah, everybody, everybody should. I read that and Ruark's use
- 8:46Speaker 1: Enough Gun, which is about his time spent in uh An,
- 8:50Speaker 1: Africa on Safari in my early twenties, and they were
- 8:53Speaker 1: both extremely influential and stoked my fires at the answer doors. Yeah, sorry,
- 9:00Speaker 1: half the room got it wrong. All right, good job,
- 9:03Speaker 1: thank you. Okay, onto question number two.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Already feeling better about this game.
- 9:12Speaker 1: You honestly me too. How heavy does a buck have
- 9:18Speaker 1: to be in order to be accepted into the biggest
- 9:22Speaker 1: Bucks in main club?
- 9:25Speaker 2: You know this, Brody, I know what.
- 9:27Speaker 3: I'm gonna write down.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Oh and I thought, for at least for the white
- 9:32Speaker 1: tail enthusiasts here, this would be a gimme.
- 9:40Speaker 3: I know it ain't as big as a big ass
- 9:42Speaker 3: mule deer buck.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Again, the question is how heavy does a buck have
- 9:50Speaker 1: to be in order to be accepted into the biggest
- 9:53Speaker 1: bucks in main club?
- 9:55Speaker 4: So do you want an answer? Lake, I'm gonna say
- 10:00Speaker 4: fifty pounds plus?
- 10:03Speaker 1: Yeah? What what? What would be the minimum minimum weight
- 10:07Speaker 1: of a buck to be accepted in the biggest Janni?
- 10:11Speaker 7: Is this fiel dressed around the hoof?
- 10:14Speaker 1: This is fuel dressed? All right?
- 10:15Speaker 7: Oh okay?
- 10:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah that changes a lot.
- 10:26Speaker 5: That's good context get it.
- 10:29Speaker 7: Riva and I have a bet going for this game.
- 10:32Speaker 8: Oh well, Calcutta, Yeah she I commented on her sweater.
- 10:37Speaker 8: I said, where does a person get a sweater like
- 10:39Speaker 8: that with that angry man eat her cat on there?
- 10:42Speaker 8: And then she told me, well she can she can
- 10:45Speaker 8: answer that. But then she told me that she was
- 10:46Speaker 8: going to kick my ass in this game. And I said,
- 10:49Speaker 8: if you beat me in this game, I will buy
- 10:51Speaker 8: whatever sweater like that that you pick out and I
- 10:54Speaker 8: will wear it the next time we do a meeting.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I had a fishing client that got attacked by a
- 11:02Speaker 3: leopard twice in Africa.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Bud uh No, How did I don't know about it?
- 11:09Speaker 2: I feel like it happens twice you deserved it. You
- 11:12Speaker 2: were doing something.
- 11:13Speaker 3: It can happen when you're hunting leopards. Man God, Bud, what.
- 11:17Speaker 5: Was his name?
- 11:17Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? They're still thinking, No, we
- 11:27Speaker 1: need a number, we need a number. Christine is showing
- 11:37Speaker 1: she's like club weigh the meat. Biggest Box in Maine
- 11:46Speaker 1: club got the Biggins out there.
- 11:50Speaker 7: I can't tell you because now Reea is getting She's
- 11:51Speaker 7: giving me to think.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I don't know. Go ahead and reveal your answers. Reva
- 11:58Speaker 1: says one hundred and fifty, Christine one hundred and fifty,
- 12:01Speaker 1: Tony Randall two hundred, Spencer two twenty five, Chester one seventy,
- 12:06Speaker 1: Max one seventy, Brody two hundred. We have a correct answer.
- 12:11Speaker 1: It is two hundred pounds. I had that big deal
- 12:16Speaker 1: in Maine to kill a two hundred pounder. The Biggest
- 12:20Speaker 1: Box in Main club is managed by the outdoor publication
- 12:23Speaker 1: The Main Sportsman. In twenty twenty three, there were four
- 12:27Speaker 1: hundred seventy six entries into the club. The application form
- 12:32Speaker 1: states that the weight may be certified by tagging station employees,
- 12:36Speaker 1: game wardens, game biologists, or game processors. Please also include
- 12:40Speaker 1: names of up to two witnesses. If available, the minimumress
- 12:44Speaker 1: weight must be two hundred pounds without heart, lungs, or liver.
- 12:49Speaker 1: That would mean that it's a average live weight of
- 12:52Speaker 1: slightly more than two hundred and fifty pounds.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Tony, Is it still like is it still a thing
- 12:57Speaker 3: in Maine where they don't really give a shit about
- 13:00Speaker 3: points and antler score? It's like still a weight?
- 13:03Speaker 8: Well, I mean there's kind of a North country thing
- 13:05Speaker 8: to that. I mean, I don't think it's limited to Maine,
- 13:07Speaker 8: you know, I mean there's Vermont, right, I mean even
- 13:11Speaker 8: even northern Minnesota, northern Wisconsin.
- 13:12Speaker 9: I mean it's still it's not like what it was
- 13:16Speaker 9: forty years ago.
- 13:16Speaker 3: They're measured antlers.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, it's interesting. Uh. Patrick Hanley from sig He's
- 13:25Speaker 1: he lives up in that country in New Hampshire, Hunts, Maine,
- 13:29Speaker 1: and uh yeah, he'll tell you stories all day long,
- 13:32Speaker 1: never mentions how many points the buck had.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Wasn't he just talking about that when we were out.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Shooting, just shooting big bucks, big heavy bucks.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Me and telling you the same way we just talking weights.
- 13:44Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 13:45Speaker 9: Christine too, she had one hundred and ten pounds written down.
- 13:49Speaker 1: The first one she was thinking she was thinking, dear,
- 13:54Speaker 1: all right, we're on the question three. The Texas crutch
- 13:59Speaker 1: involves what material when making barbecued ribs?
- 14:07Speaker 6: Again, I'll repeat the question to be honest. I I
- 14:09Speaker 6: rewarded this in kid. Yeah, did you change it back
- 14:11Speaker 6: because he didn't like my rewording? I want to Let's
- 14:15Speaker 6: let's have Spencer be the judge. What's better the one
- 14:17Speaker 6: that's on the TV or the one youannis just read?
- 14:19Speaker 6: Go ahead and read it again.
- 14:22Speaker 1: The Texas crutch involves what material when making barbecued ribs?
- 14:26Speaker 1: And Phil wrote it to the Texas crutch preparation of barbecue.
- 14:33Speaker 1: See the Texas crutch is not a preparation though.
- 14:35Speaker 6: That's not what I read on the internet. We know
- 14:38Speaker 6: no one's ever written in about.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Mistakes of preparation technique.
- 14:43Speaker 6: Yeah, that would have been better. Yeah, I'll take the
- 14:46Speaker 6: l either way.
- 14:48Speaker 1: You saw to tell me what material is used when
- 14:52Speaker 1: you do the Texas crutch?
- 14:58Speaker 5: Has anybody done a Texas crutch here?
- 15:00Speaker 1: Apparently I have?
- 15:02Speaker 2: I didn't know that, if I'm right, Oh Brodie's wow,
- 15:07Speaker 2: are you feeling about Randall?
- 15:09Speaker 5: I have a material? Okay, that's one that hmmm, could
- 15:14Speaker 5: be used to.
- 15:16Speaker 1: To make to make ribs.
- 15:18Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, Actually I don't know.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer?
- 15:25Speaker 3: You got to tell people what you had written?
- 15:31Speaker 2: Okay, Brody's gonna have to tell people just to write.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Something down for you because it's good.
- 15:38Speaker 3: I was thinking about, like, what on your I'm telling
- 15:41Speaker 3: everyone whatever.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 15:45Speaker 7: I've gotten er for ten before in this trivia.
- 15:47Speaker 3: I think you made a good change, though.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Alright, reveal your answers, Reva says, would Christine without an answer?
- 15:55Speaker 1: Tony aluminum foil, Randall rebar, Spencer tinfoil, Jester Mesquite max tinfoil,
- 16:02Speaker 1: Brody aluminum foil. The room did pretty good.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Come on, tell them what you had down.
- 16:09Speaker 4: I had leather down because I was thinking about, like, oh,
- 16:13Speaker 4: what is the cook wear on his hands?
- 16:16Speaker 1: Yeah? Maybe impart some flavors.
- 16:19Speaker 7: I might get one anyway.
- 16:22Speaker 1: After slow cooking on a smoker for hours, and when
- 16:26Speaker 1: the ribs are nearly done, the meat is wrapped tightly
- 16:29Speaker 1: in foil or I would have also accepted butcher paper
- 16:32Speaker 1: to steam and braize in its own juices. This makes
- 16:36Speaker 1: the meat juicier and more tender. You can add barbecue sauce,
- 16:40Speaker 1: apple juice, sugar, et cetera. To the alutminum foil packet
- 16:45Speaker 1: at this time. Put it back on the heat for
- 16:47Speaker 1: an hour, but no more. Too much time, and the
- 16:51Speaker 1: crutch will produce mushy meat.
- 16:53Speaker 3: It works good for deer ribs, though, because they don't
- 16:55Speaker 3: have any fat.
- 16:57Speaker 1: That's right, very important for deer and elk ribs.
- 17:00Speaker 5: I was picturing much more interesting methods of preparation.
- 17:12Speaker 1: It is crutchy Texas cheat all right. Question number four,
- 17:20Speaker 1: What are the full names of Billy Coleman's two hounds
- 17:26Speaker 1: in the book Where the Red Fern Grows? And I
- 17:32Speaker 1: thought I was giving them one, And here we are
- 17:35Speaker 1: with no one writing.
- 17:37Speaker 6: This is what I thought would be the zero per centery.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Honestly, that was a long time ago. Oh mm hmm, okay,
- 17:57Speaker 1: Google just signed me out, so you guys have sex.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Maybe I can.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Remember my password, Johnny, one's the last time you read
- 18:09Speaker 2: this book?
- 18:11Speaker 1: I actually read it last November December.
- 18:15Speaker 2: To your children or to yourself.
- 18:17Speaker 1: To myself, yeah, I have read it to my anything.
- 18:25Speaker 1: No what you just did, Randal, my uh, my good buddy,
- 18:30Speaker 1: Jake Gribb. This is all part of my little uh
- 18:33Speaker 1: what do you call the part after the question flavor
- 18:35Speaker 1: text flavor text factoid. Well, my buddy Jake grib reads
- 18:40Speaker 1: it almost every year to get fired up for house.
- 18:43Speaker 2: It seems a little excessive.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Well, I mean you can read this book, you know,
- 18:47Speaker 1: if you skim through, you know, probably in an hour
- 18:49Speaker 1: or two. But uh yeah, it gets you fired up. Man,
- 18:54Speaker 1: if you're if you're a hound guy. Okay, everybody have
- 18:58Speaker 1: an answer or giving up not having an answer, Go
- 19:03Speaker 1: ahead and reveal him. Reba not a Christine, Bear and
- 19:06Speaker 1: Blue I like it, Red an Blue, Randall Scooby and
- 19:12Speaker 1: Scrappy Spencer. Spencer says old Red and Mingus. Chester says
- 19:18Speaker 1: Toby and Max. Max says Blue and Fern. Brody says
- 19:24Speaker 1: Dusty and Gunnison, which are the names of his last
- 19:27Speaker 1: two dogs. We have our first zero percenter? Is there
- 19:31Speaker 1: like a half?
- 19:32Speaker 5: You know we should have a sound effect for that.
- 19:35Speaker 1: No, No, no one going down. And you know the
- 19:40Speaker 1: way this came up was I thought of it and
- 19:42Speaker 1: then I said, Steve, are you gonna be here when
- 19:45Speaker 1: I host? And he said no, And I asked him
- 19:48Speaker 1: the question and he got it right. I thought, oh, okay,
- 19:50Speaker 1: that would be a good one. The answer is Old
- 19:54Speaker 1: Dan and Little Anne and I would have accepted, Dan
- 20:00Speaker 1: and Ann. Yeah, Where the Red Ferend Grows is a wonderful,
- 20:05Speaker 1: chilled children's book by Wilson Rawls. In the book, a
- 20:10Speaker 1: young Billy Coleman buys two redbone hounds and teaches them
- 20:14Speaker 1: to tree coons. They become coon catching legends, legends in
- 20:18Speaker 1: the Ozark Mountains. Over seven million copies of the book
- 20:23Speaker 1: have been sold by now.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Oh, could you imagine if Steve would have been here?
- 20:26Speaker 1: He was the Oh, we would never.
- 20:28Speaker 6: Hear of it.
- 20:29Speaker 2: I can't imagine.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Yeah. If you're interested in how this book put coon
- 20:35Speaker 1: hunting at the forefront of American pop culture, listen to
- 20:38Speaker 1: the two part series on the popular Bear Grease podcast,
- 20:42Speaker 1: episode forty two where the Red Fern Grows The Peculiar
- 20:46Speaker 1: life of Wilson Rawls, and episode forty three where the
- 20:49Speaker 1: Red Fern Grows Character and manhood. Now you're hosting Yanni,
- 20:53Speaker 1: I highly recommend reading the book and listening to the podcast.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Thanks Spencer. All Right, rond on to uh question number five.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Hopefully you guys will do a little bit better. This
- 21:06Speaker 1: Italian recipe literally translates to bone with a hole. Brody
- 21:15Speaker 1: got the answer. Randall has the answer.
- 21:18Speaker 3: I can't believe this hasn't been a question.
- 21:20Speaker 7: I know.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Listen, well, you know how it is when you're guest hosting.
- 21:24Speaker 1: You have to type in all these key words into
- 21:26Speaker 1: Spencer's list of questions, and I couldn't believe it nothing,
- 21:31Speaker 1: especially this one. But it's a good feeling because you
- 21:34Speaker 1: don't have to come up with the question. Spencer also
- 21:40Speaker 1: came up with an answer. Tony is still thinking.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Your little banter there makes me feel good about my answer.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Then let me see your answer, Spencer.
- 21:49Speaker 2: You gotta flash it across two other folks about.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Well they we trust them. They're not gonna good job, Spencer.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Okay, you're no, it'll come to you'll.
- 22:03Speaker 7: I believe in your chest here, Brody, let me see
- 22:05Speaker 7: if you got it right.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Reva and Christine, do you guys consider yourselves wild game?
- 22:11Speaker 1: Cooks chefs? Not this?
- 22:16Speaker 5: Do you like to go to fancy restaurants?
- 22:17Speaker 7: Still this game?
- 22:20Speaker 5: Oh?
- 22:23Speaker 1: It's a wild Wait?
- 22:24Speaker 3: Who's throwing hints to you?
- 22:26Speaker 2: Tony can't remember what it's called. We learned last game
- 22:29Speaker 2: that cooking is his weakness in me trivia.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Proving to be true right here, Question number five, Max's
- 22:43Speaker 1: answer has got Phil smiling and kind of snickers like
- 22:48Speaker 1: you got you're cooking.
- 22:49Speaker 3: A lot of wild games, right.
- 22:53Speaker 8: I have put myself through college cooking. I've been on
- 22:55Speaker 8: the I've been on the line.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Yeah you know, it's.
- 22:58Speaker 7: Past life, but I uh don't do very well.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Kind of place? Was it?
- 23:04Speaker 7: A couple of different places?
- 23:06Speaker 8: And I feel like this, this is this one specifically
- 23:10Speaker 8: is driving me nuts because I can't think of it
- 23:12Speaker 8: and I feel like i've I've run across it a
- 23:14Speaker 8: million times.
- 23:18Speaker 3: You're nothing else if not creative.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Christine is still thinking. We're gonna give Christine five seconds.
- 23:30Speaker 7: And it's a better answer than mine.
- 23:31Speaker 5: Do you trust him?
- 23:35Speaker 4: My four three two one, just.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Forget it, Okay, go ahead and reveal your answers. Reva
- 23:42Speaker 1: Verte Cone void, Christine, nada, Tony says Marrow, Randall says Asabuco,
- 23:50Speaker 1: Spencer Asbuco Chester and nothing, Max says bone app a
- 23:55Speaker 1: teeth cute Bronie Asabuco may correct.
- 24:00Speaker 8: Answer, he Johnnie, can I make an appeal here because
- 24:03Speaker 8: I this this is the person who can fire us
- 24:07Speaker 8: at will. Hey, Charlie, she actually did have the right answer,
- 24:10Speaker 8: and I talked her out of it to do that because.
- 24:13Speaker 7: I thought it was wrong.
- 24:15Speaker 9: She got that if I had, I would give her
- 24:19Speaker 9: the point perc.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Yeah, give were three points. Actually I had the same
- 24:27Speaker 1: laughing at me.
- 24:28Speaker 6: I did not know Max just just because he said
- 24:31Speaker 6: that he had he had Cordon blue completely spelled wrong.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And also that's why I raised it. As Buco is
- 24:42Speaker 1: in my opinion, by far, the best way to start
- 24:45Speaker 1: enjoying the shanks from deer, elk or moose. It takes
- 24:48Speaker 1: extra time to save and saw the shanks, and it
- 24:51Speaker 1: takes time to cook the shanks, but every time I
- 24:54Speaker 1: make it, I'm happy I did, and so are my
- 24:56Speaker 1: dinner guests. I don't limit this recipe us to the shanks.
- 25:01Speaker 1: It works well with any cut that has that is
- 25:03Speaker 1: full of silver skin. Just cut that roast or chunk
- 25:07Speaker 1: of meat, whatever it is, and the one point five
- 25:09Speaker 1: inch inch and a half thick rounds across the grain
- 25:12Speaker 1: and go for it. If you need a recipe, we
- 25:15Speaker 1: have several at the mediator dot com, including Venison SHANKSUV
- 25:21Speaker 1: Asibuco by Ryan Callahan, Braised Venison shanks Asbuco by Steven Ranella,
- 25:27Speaker 1: and if you're looking to add a little flair, Indian
- 25:30Speaker 1: spiced Asibuko by Danielle Pruit and.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Tell you out those shanks, saw them up when they're frozen.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Good hot tip there.
- 25:40Speaker 2: I've got a handful of rainy day questions for if
- 25:42Speaker 2: I hit a writer's block that I can just plug
- 25:44Speaker 2: into any show that that's one of them is about Osibuco.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Last episode we had the question about two of the
- 25:50Speaker 2: five states with the most federal land. That was a
- 25:52Speaker 2: rainy day question. I needed one more to fill in
- 25:54Speaker 2: the script, so it's been front of mine.
- 25:57Speaker 3: You're gonna have to replenish your rainy day question.
- 26:00Speaker 5: We're getting a lot of behind the scenes insight here.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Yeah. I've sent Spencer like five or six questions that
- 26:06Speaker 4: I thought would be like cool, and every time he
- 26:08Speaker 4: like shuts me down.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Well, that's you guys had questions we've had on the show, Max.
- 26:12Speaker 4: But I think they're always great questions.
- 26:14Speaker 2: They were so good that I've done them on the show.
- 26:19Speaker 1: All right, that was question five. So that brings us
- 26:21Speaker 1: to a scoreboard update, Phil, Yeah, here we go.
- 26:27Speaker 6: Reva got zero points along with Chester, Cheddar, Floyd Christine.
- 26:32Speaker 6: Thanks to Tony's kind gesture. There you've got one whole first,
- 26:36Speaker 6: very unkind gesture Max you also have one point. Randall,
- 26:40Speaker 6: Tony and Spencer have three points, and in first place
- 26:43Speaker 6: is Brody Henderson with four.
- 26:45Speaker 2: It's like Tony put out a fire that he started. Right. Yeah,
- 26:49Speaker 2: it's a kind of credit.
- 26:50Speaker 9: I will take all the credit for it, even though
- 26:52Speaker 9: I created the whole problem.
- 26:55Speaker 1: You guys are on pace to hit the Jenis. It's great.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Not all us, No, not all of you. All of us.
- 27:05Speaker 1: You have to be above thirty five. Some of you
- 27:08Speaker 1: are and a hole? Are you all right?
- 27:10Speaker 5: Thirty seven?
- 27:11Speaker 4: Yeah, you have to be above thirty five.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I'm thirty two. Oh oh, what's the what's sorry?
- 27:17Speaker 1: Age?
- 27:17Speaker 3: Talk?
- 27:17Speaker 6: Going on?
- 27:18Speaker 1: Nothing? Next question?
- 27:19Speaker 3: All right?
- 27:21Speaker 1: Here it comes underhanded, as slow and as the nice
- 27:27Speaker 1: of an arc as I can lay out there. Come on,
- 27:31Speaker 1: where are the interdigital glands located on a deer? I
- 27:42Speaker 1: see some writing that makes me happy. I'll repeat the question,
- 27:53Speaker 1: where are the interdigital glands located on a deer? How
- 27:58Speaker 1: specific are you looking for? You honest, not that specific.
- 28:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it's gotta gotta be within a six
- 28:16Speaker 1: inches six inch region. What do you think, Spencer? Huh?
- 28:23Speaker 5: Sure you're not going for like front back, top, bottom.
- 28:27Speaker 1: That ain't. No, that's not gonna cut it. I was
- 28:30Speaker 1: gonna make a joke and say it's gonna be below
- 28:32Speaker 1: a buck.
- 28:34Speaker 5: Did you hear that joke?
- 28:39Speaker 1: Reva and Christine, do you still need a second?
- 28:42Speaker 3: I was gonna consult with.
- 28:48Speaker 7: I would get a little.
- 28:49Speaker 1: More Christine still writing, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Reva hoof, Christine face eyed ducts, Tony hooves, Randall hoof,
- 29:05Speaker 1: Spencer toes crossed out hoof, Chester eyes, Max hoof, Brody feet,
- 29:12Speaker 1: slash hoofs. I'd written down between their toes, but I
- 29:17Speaker 1: think that we will take basically anything below the knee.
- 29:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm so sorry. Can you raise your hand if
- 29:23Speaker 6: you guys got that one right?
- 29:24Speaker 1: Yeah, so if you had a part of the deer that.
- 29:30Speaker 6: Sorry, keep him, keep your keep your hands up, keep
- 29:32Speaker 6: your hands up.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Sorry you taught me this, Tony, you can keep going.
- 29:37Speaker 1: The inter digital gland secretes A. I ain't write this
- 29:42Speaker 1: yogurt like oil that smells, as one author put it,
- 29:46Speaker 1: an odor much like strong cheese with a touch of
- 29:49Speaker 1: garlic or skunk. Isn't that really that?
- 29:55Speaker 4: This isn't the gland that you're supposed to cut off
- 29:57Speaker 4: before tarl.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Literally just right just above kind of where they're above
- 30:02Speaker 1: the digits. Yeah, between the digits and digital. Deer use
- 30:09Speaker 1: the scent left behind the inter digital glands to follow
- 30:11Speaker 1: one another around. This could be a fun following its mother,
- 30:14Speaker 1: or a buck trailing a dope. Interestingly, the hound I
- 30:19Speaker 1: hired last year to track a buck I wounded was
- 30:21Speaker 1: actually following the scent left from those glands, not the
- 30:26Speaker 1: blood trail as I thought before I had a had
- 30:29Speaker 1: hired a uh blood tracker.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Do you find it?
- 30:33Speaker 1: He did?
- 30:33Speaker 4: Not?
- 30:33Speaker 1: The buck lives on to this day.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Oh, confirmed, like you've seen pictures.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Yeah, well many months afterwards. I haven't seen him now
- 30:40Speaker 1: that it's the next year of antler growth. But yeah,
- 30:43Speaker 1: he made it, you know, well into the winter.
- 30:45Speaker 3: He's going to be a smart one this year.
- 30:47Speaker 9: Yeah, and probably.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Could be. We're on a question seven. This is the
- 30:59Speaker 1: state a bear enters one to two months before hibernation.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Damn it, Brody Brody is writing, damn it. Nis Randall
- 31:11Speaker 1: is right.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Yeah, wait a minute, Oh now I'm gonna believe it.
- 31:23Speaker 5: Before For those listeners out there that aren't watching this
- 31:28Speaker 5: on the med Eater podcast Network YouTube channel, Jannis and
- 31:32Speaker 5: are exchanging knowing glances.
- 31:36Speaker 2: What do you guys, plug, what do you know about?
- 31:40Speaker 2: Mm hm, what do you guys know about?
- 31:42Speaker 6: Uh?
- 31:43Speaker 5: He knows that I know, Okay, and I know he
- 31:47Speaker 5: knows that I know.
- 31:50Speaker 1: This is the state of bear enters, one to two
- 31:52Speaker 1: months before hibernation.
- 31:57Speaker 2: I'm worried I'm confusing another term with this term. And
- 32:03Speaker 2: I think if I was writing this, I would tell
- 32:05Speaker 2: you this like seventeen letter term or whatever. But don't
- 32:11Speaker 2: don't tell us that now. Don't tell us that. Now.
- 32:14Speaker 1: We had a there was a short stint of a
- 32:18Speaker 1: series where we had hunting terms in words.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Remember Hunter's.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Yeah, And one of the first ones we did was
- 32:29Speaker 1: this term here.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Okay, way before we ever hired Randall, way before I
- 32:35Speaker 2: even knew Randall existed.
- 32:37Speaker 5: You've never heard of Randall?
- 32:39Speaker 1: When was this.
- 32:42Speaker 5: Prior to nineteen eighty six?
- 32:45Speaker 1: Doctor Randall?
- 32:47Speaker 5: I presume.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Christine still thinking. No, she's not thinking, Rema, you're ready
- 32:56Speaker 1: to okay, Max, Max not going to write an answer down,
- 32:59Speaker 1: Go ahead, reveal your answers, Reva says, feasting. Christine hyper phasia,
- 33:06Speaker 1: Tony pre hibernation, Randall hyperphagia, Spencer hyperphagia, Chester says they
- 33:12Speaker 1: eat a whole bunch. Max no answer, and Brody hyperphagia.
- 33:17Speaker 1: The correct answer is hyperphagia.
- 33:20Speaker 4: I wasn't gonna write Sam the fever, but.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Christine, you missed it by Oh, it is not a
- 33:26Speaker 1: letter you missed. You didn't miss it.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I was worried I was confusing with coprophasia, which is
- 33:30Speaker 2: eating feces.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Oh.
- 33:33Speaker 3: Yeah, good thing you didn't write that down, Spencer. I
- 33:36Speaker 3: was also mildly worried it might be torpor.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I think that's like the the anti hybrid hybrid hibernation. Yeah,
- 33:47Speaker 2: it's like a light sleeve.
- 33:50Speaker 1: I didn't come across that during my research.
- 33:53Speaker 2: We're the Other one I thought about was uh estivation,
- 33:57Speaker 2: which I think is heat hibernation instead of like cold hibernation.
- 34:02Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Dam could be something for the future feed show too
- 34:07Speaker 1: late now. Yes, when bears go into hyperphagia, they'll feed
- 34:12Speaker 1: up to twenty two hours a day and gain up
- 34:15Speaker 1: to four pounds per day in preparation of hibernation. Four
- 34:21Speaker 1: pounds a day.
- 34:22Speaker 5: We've all been there, Yeah, exactly.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Eat hold lunch ron to question eight. How many chambers
- 34:31Speaker 1: are in an elk's stomach.
- 34:35Speaker 4: Where's the waterfall?
- 34:36Speaker 1: Softball? Or I'm just you're gonna become a big game home.
- 34:44Speaker 3: I'm pretty good at gutting, so I don't know how
- 34:46Speaker 3: many chambers are in there. I don't poke that stomach open.
- 34:49Speaker 4: That's I think I just came up with a good
- 34:51Speaker 4: question for you.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Oh okay, you text it to me later. Maxwell.
- 34:54Speaker 5: I think this depends on how many times you shoot it.
- 34:56Speaker 5: You're honest.
- 35:02Speaker 1: We have a couple of numbers down. Max.
- 35:09Speaker 2: You should just ask the question right now. Put spit
- 35:12Speaker 2: it right into the microphone. See who knows it?
- 35:14Speaker 1: What's that? Max?
- 35:15Speaker 2: Max has a question for me for a future episode
- 35:17Speaker 2: of trivia, but I think you'll just give it to
- 35:19Speaker 2: us right now.
- 35:20Speaker 4: Okay, how many tail feathers does a Tom Turkey have?
- 35:24Speaker 3: Eighteen eighteen?
- 35:25Speaker 2: That's say, been in the board game? Max, I just
- 35:29Speaker 2: thought of this.
- 35:34Speaker 6: You don't have it all the memorized yet.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Does anybody need more time? Okay, go ahead and reveal
- 35:44Speaker 1: your answers. Reva says four Christine to Tony four Randall
- 35:48Speaker 1: four Spencer for chess or three Max fo I'm going
- 35:53Speaker 1: too fast, sorry with my new fancy score where it
- 35:58Speaker 1: takes me a second to get these in here. Tony four,
- 36:01Speaker 1: Randall for Spencer four, Chester three, Max five, Brody four.
- 36:09Speaker 1: The correct answer is four. Help are ruminants and have
- 36:16Speaker 1: a four chambered stomach. Ruminants are able to acquire nutrients
- 36:20Speaker 1: from plant based food by fermenting it in a specialized
- 36:23Speaker 1: specialized stomach prior to digestion. The process typically requires the
- 36:29Speaker 1: fermented ingesta, known as cud, to be regurgitated and chewed again.
- 36:35Speaker 1: The process of chewing the cud to further break down
- 36:37Speaker 1: plant matter and stimulate digestion is called rumination. Good job,
- 36:43Speaker 1: four chambered stomach, answered folks, All right there, that was
- 36:51Speaker 1: question number eight. So we need another scoreboard updates? Phil? Yeah, sorry,
- 36:55Speaker 1: hold on, give me a secon here, Phil, still working,
- 36:59Speaker 1: You're doing great.
- 37:00Speaker 5: Just take your tongue.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Okay, I think this is right. This is right.
- 37:04Speaker 6: Yeah, Riva, Chester, Christine and Max are no longer in
- 37:08Speaker 6: the running for the win. We've got Tony and Spencer
- 37:11Speaker 6: with five, Randall is six and Brody Henderson with seven points.
- 37:16Speaker 2: We just saw the correct answers.
- 37:17Speaker 1: No kind of no surprises on that leaderboard. If we had,
- 37:26Speaker 1: if we had to.
- 37:26Speaker 9: Throw ouch over here, I said the leader.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Leader leader. You know, hey, listen, I play against these
- 37:35Speaker 1: guys all the time. It sucks. I'm always like, yeah, there,
- 37:39Speaker 1: I am one behind Randall and Brody. All right, question
- 37:44Speaker 1: number nine again? Again. I think I'm making I'm thinking
- 37:54Speaker 1: it's soft. This action, also known as a lip curl,
- 38:01Speaker 1: exposes the vombaro nasal organ, which detects estris in urine.
- 38:10Speaker 1: What Brody has an answer? I'll repeat the question. This action,
- 38:15Speaker 1: also known as a lip curl, exposes the vomito nasal organ,
- 38:22Speaker 1: which detects estris in urine.
- 38:29Speaker 4: I'm trying to think like a deer.
- 38:31Speaker 1: That's right. We've all seen videos pictures of deer. ELK.
- 38:37Speaker 1: You're honest.
- 38:38Speaker 6: I just want to make sure you know that you
- 38:39Speaker 6: skipped a question.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Oh I did you did?
- 38:42Speaker 6: No way, you can just reorder it. It's fine, Just
- 38:44Speaker 6: do that one next.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Okay, I gotta go.
- 38:46Speaker 6: Unless your document's different than the one I'm looking at,
- 38:49Speaker 6: but I don't think it is.
- 38:51Speaker 3: HM, that's all right.
- 38:53Speaker 1: I like this. Or aren't we on number nine? No?
- 38:56Speaker 6: We are, but in the document I have, it's number ten.
- 38:59Speaker 6: So if you change the order after you sent me
- 39:02Speaker 6: the doc, I must not be working in like an
- 39:05Speaker 6: active doc that you have of open right now.
- 39:07Speaker 1: It's fine. It's just the one titled trivia for your honest.
- 39:11Speaker 6: I have one titled yis hosted Trivia.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's the one that I originally wrote made,
- 39:19Speaker 1: but then we flipped it all over to the one
- 39:20Speaker 1: that Spencer did. Oh gotcha.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Sorry, I think I'm reaching way back to the North
- 39:25Speaker 2: American white tail days. Tony, you got this one.
- 39:28Speaker 7: I have the first part of.
- 39:33Speaker 1: That's enough chit chat, boys, I will accept a single word.
- 39:41Speaker 1: I was wondering that. Yeah, okay, no, that's not it.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Oh do you guys need the question again?
- 39:53Speaker 7: Yeah, that's it.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Hey, help me out. He's not helping, he's only uh
- 40:01Speaker 1: why are so many dear and questions? Does she have
- 40:06Speaker 1: it right?
- 40:08Speaker 3: Okay?
- 40:10Speaker 1: All right, let's go ahead.
- 40:11Speaker 2: And this is like five O one level.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Rema says lip smack, Christine, no answer, Tony Fleming, Randall sniffing. Uh,
- 40:25Speaker 1: Spencer says flegm, I don't know, Chester, no answer, Max sniffing,
- 40:33Speaker 1: and Brody says Fleming. Response, Brody is the only one.
- 40:38Speaker 1: They got it exactly right? Tony spell it?
- 40:44Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe.
- 40:48Speaker 5: The end and is sniffing part of this action?
- 40:53Speaker 1: Do it? They do pull air.
- 40:56Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, sniffing.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Yeah, me too, is it?
- 41:00Speaker 4: But then Brody laughed at my answer because there's like
- 41:02Speaker 4: a there's.
- 41:03Speaker 9: Like smack is closer sniffing.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Sniffing is not known as a lip.
- 41:09Speaker 7: Curl right or a lip smack.
- 41:12Speaker 4: I curl my lips when I sniff.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Sometimes thought to be a posturing, ormssive move, the flaming
- 41:19Speaker 1: is actually just another way animals communicate through scent. Hunters
- 41:23Speaker 1: most commonly see sheep, deer, an elk do it, but
- 41:26Speaker 1: many others perform it as well, including horses, giraffes, and cats.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Phil scoreboard, Up.
- 41:35Speaker 6: Here's the thing, Brody Henderson cannot be caught.
- 41:41Speaker 5: Yeah, unless we've taken sniffing.
- 41:43Speaker 6: And I gave I gave that to Tony and Spencer.
- 41:47Speaker 6: But it doesn't matter anyway, So.
- 41:48Speaker 1: It does matter.
- 41:50Speaker 3: These are sure some softballs y.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Correct answer.
- 41:55Speaker 1: I'll probably do. I'll do better next time. Correctser From
- 42:01Speaker 1: the first nine questions are Robert ruarc two hundred pounds
- 42:07Speaker 1: aluminum foil, old Dan and little am Asbuco between toes,
- 42:12Speaker 1: hyper fagia, four chambers and the flame and response.
- 42:19Speaker 2: If you give that last one to me, I have seven?
- 42:22Speaker 6: Do you I mess a screwed up somewhere.
- 42:24Speaker 3: You should give Spencer had it like he had it.
- 42:27Speaker 3: I thought you gave it to him.
- 42:31Speaker 2: I mean it was I think I had like sixty
- 42:34Speaker 2: the letters. Yeah, so that'd be pretty generous.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Go ahead and give it to him. Okay, thank you.
- 42:40Speaker 1: Brody likes to make it sporty. Yeah, that way. There
- 42:43Speaker 1: is a chance here on the last question.
- 42:45Speaker 5: A cat off.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Otherwise, No, I don't think so, because just when I
- 42:52Speaker 1: play this game, I like to play to the end,
- 42:54Speaker 1: just because it's fun. Gets the dough, Yeah, all right.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Question number ten, M.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Excited, don't be mad.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Okay, what is the oldest non clonal living tree species
- 43:12Speaker 1: in the US.
- 43:13Speaker 2: I don't know what non clonal means.
- 43:15Speaker 6: This is the other one I thought would be a zero.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Now I'm rethinking my answer, since what is the oldest
- 43:22Speaker 2: non clonal living tree species.
- 43:26Speaker 1: In the US?
- 43:27Speaker 4: You want the number of the species?
- 43:31Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 43:31Speaker 4: What like?
- 43:32Speaker 1: How? How many years? I would like the species? The
- 43:38Speaker 1: name of a tree is what we're looking.
- 43:41Speaker 3: Spencer might know and I might not.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Well, I had a different answer until Phil said, well I.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Am a very poor zero. Spencer.
- 43:51Speaker 3: If you win, I still get to pick the chick.
- 43:54Speaker 4: I wonder if Seth would get this.
- 43:58Speaker 2: It's a you know what non clonal means, Brody?
- 44:00Speaker 3: Hmm, I can. I'll even give you an example of
- 44:06Speaker 3: the opposite afterwards.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Okay, it's that's.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Right, that's right, non closes.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Anybody need more time? Does that mean?
- 44:18Speaker 2: I assume it's like like they don't grow in clusters.
- 44:21Speaker 1: I don't know. Okay, you're gonna find out. Go ahead
- 44:26Speaker 1: and reveal your answers. Reva says Redwood, Christine Redwood, Tony Redwood, Randall, Sequoia, Spencer, Sequoia,
- 44:36Speaker 1: Chester Redwood, Max American Elm, Brody Redwood. We have a
- 44:43Speaker 1: correct answer or no, correct, No, I'm trying to put
- 44:48Speaker 1: this properly. We have a correct Yes, it was gonna
- 44:53Speaker 1: be a zero. That makes Brody our winter winter. The
- 44:59Speaker 1: answer is bristle cone pine.
- 45:04Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that was my next guess. Now tell me
- 45:07Speaker 2: about the non clonal.
- 45:08Speaker 1: The bristle cone pine also happens to be the oldest
- 45:11Speaker 1: nonclonal living tree species in the world. The oldest one
- 45:15Speaker 1: resides in California's White Mountains and is estimated to be
- 45:19Speaker 1: around five thousand years old. This tree germinated before the
- 45:24Speaker 1: Egyptian pyramids were built. Its exact location is kept secret
- 45:28Speaker 1: for its safety. The oldest colonal tree species are quaking
- 45:33Speaker 1: aspens living in Utah and are estimated to be eighty
- 45:37Speaker 1: thousand years old.
- 45:39Speaker 2: So those live in a colony is at the well.
- 45:42Speaker 1: So the colonal species basically are all connected and they
- 45:46Speaker 1: just shoot up from their roots and yeah, and not
- 45:51Speaker 1: come from seeds. What's the tree you called again, the
- 45:54Speaker 1: bristle cone pine. Yeah, there's a name for the very
- 45:57Speaker 1: oldest one you can find, Seqoia. So Brody as the winner,
- 46:04Speaker 1: you get to choose whethy five hundred dollars. Getting donation goes.
- 46:08Speaker 3: This is time of year I start doing a lot
- 46:10Speaker 3: of fishing with my boys, So this is the time
- 46:13Speaker 3: you are like to donate to take me fishing dot

- 46:22Speaker 3: They promote like going fishing, like get people out fishing. Yeah, education,
- 46:27Speaker 3: you know, I'm sure they may do some habitat work,
- 46:29Speaker 3: but yeah, it's just getting getting people out on the water.
- 46:32Speaker 1: All right, Brody's given it to take me fishing or
- 46:36Speaker 1: hey thanks.
- 46:37Speaker 2: It's like the kind of ending you on in a game.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Where it's like eight some seven six is.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Zero. Easier than the last time, but not a gimme.
