- 0:00Carmen Lezeth: Hi everybody, welcome to All About the Joy.
- 0:02Carmen Lezeth: We got Rick, of course, in the house, as always.
- 0:05Carmen Lezeth: We got Tony D and one of our new favorite people, tommy.
- 0:10Carmen Lezeth: But, tommy, why did your camera just change?
- 0:12Tommy Lee: Now we look at up at you.
- 0:14Tommy Lee: I, because I had to move it because my other device, the Tony, said about charging it.
- 0:18Tommy Lee: So I'm like you know what, let me double check and make sure that this is charged.
- 0:21Tommy Lee: So I wanted to plug it in and charge it, is it okay?
- 0:25Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, no, it's fine.
- 0:26Carmen Lezeth: It just looks like we're looking up at you like this now.
- 0:29Tommy Lee: Yeah, sorry, just don't look up my nose, yeah, okay.
- 0:32Carmen Lezeth: Well, you know, I can only edit so much.
- 0:34Carmen Lezeth: So this is the first time Tony D and Tommy Lee are on the show together, so we've already did little introductions in the green room and they already hate each other.
- 0:47Carmen Lezeth: I'm just kidding.
- 0:52Carmen Lezeth: I'm just kidding.
- 0:53Carmen Lezeth: But, tommy, I have to tell you something that happened the other day.
- 0:55Carmen Lezeth: So I never name dropped with my clients.
- 0:58Carmen Lezeth: So my clients don't know each other.
- 1:01Carmen Lezeth: A couple of them have bumped into each other and they know that I work for them, but it's kind of like I really do a good job of never talking to my clients about other people.
- 1:08Carmen Lezeth: So the other day I was talking to one of my clients and I was just like, yeah, yeah, da, da, da da, tommy Lee, and it was so great to touch base with him again.
- 1:16Carmen Lezeth: And she was like oh my God, that's the first time you ever name dropped.
- 1:21Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, what are you talking about?
- 1:26Carmen Lezeth: You know, in my head I'm like name dropped.
- 1:30Tommy Lee: Yeah.
- 1:32Carmen Lezeth: It was really funny.
- 1:33Carmen Lezeth: I was like yeah, no, no, it's not that Tommy Lee, but she doesn't believe me.
- 1:37Carmen Lezeth: She thinks I'm covering, so she thinks Tommy Lee Lee is actually my client.
- 1:42Carmen Lezeth: So we're just going to go with that.
- 1:44Carmen Lezeth: I guess it's all good, he was here.
- 1:46Rick Costa: He was here first.
- 1:46Rick Costa: This is the original.
- 1:47Carmen Lezeth: That's right.
- 1:48Carmen Lezeth: Are you sure about that?
- 1:50Tommy Lee: Because I believe me, I did my research.
- 1:52Tommy Lee: He's like, oh I'm sure Better than me.
- 1:54Carmen Lezeth: All right, all right.
- 1:55Carmen Lezeth: So the first thing I wanted to ask Tony, because he celebrated his birthday on Thanksgiving.
- 2:01Carmen Lezeth: Happy belated, happy belated.
- 2:04Tony D.: How was your?
- 2:04Tony D.: Birthday Thank you, thank you, thank you.
- 2:07Tony D.: It was excellent.
- 2:07Tony D.: I want to see my mom, I want to see my sister.
- 2:09Tony D.: My brother-in-law, my nephew, my niece hung out with them for the weekend Much needed.
- 2:14Tony D.: They pretty much made me come up there to tell them I need to get up out of here and just take a break from everything I've been going through this year.
- 2:20Tony D.: I'm grateful for that.
- 2:21Tony D.: Grateful, definitely grateful for family.
- 2:23Tony D.: Excuse me, it was like crazy.
- 2:28Tony D.: It was cool, I needed that.
- 2:29Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, you had some cool Facebook posts too, yeah.
- 2:33Carmen Lezeth: So is it weird I mean, because this has happened more than once that your birthday lands on Thanksgiving?
- 2:39Tony D.: That's the day I was born.
- 2:40Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, okay.
- 2:41Tony D.: Right.
- 2:41Carmen Lezeth: So yeah.
- 2:43Tony D.: Yeah, especially to my mom, and I've been told by my grandmother and one of my aunts that I'm the guy to interrupt the Thanksgiving dinner.
- 2:50Carmen Lezeth: Wait, I missed that.
- 2:51Carmen Lezeth: Say that again.
- 2:52Tony D.: I interrupted Thanksgiving.
- 2:57Carmen Lezeth: That's kind of mean in a way, but you were blessing and they were grateful for you.
- 3:03Carmen Lezeth: Yes, right.
- 3:05Tony D.: I got to back for the rest of my life.
- 3:09Rick Costa: Mom was thankful that she finally got to pop you out.
- 3:11Rick Costa: Thank you, I believe it, I believe it.
- 3:14Carmen Lezeth: I think of all the holidays.
- 3:16Carmen Lezeth: If I had to be born on when it would be Thanksgiving.
- 3:18Carmen Lezeth: That's a good one.
- 3:19Tony D.: That's a good question Actually.
- 3:21Carmen Lezeth: So Joel's birthday.
- 3:22Carmen Lezeth: Joel was on.
- 3:23Carmen Lezeth: The show is on July 4th, which I think would might be another cool one as well, just because like as a kid, you would think everyone's celebrating your birthday, or whatever.
- 3:32Tommy Lee: Right, I was thinking no, okay, I was thinking, joe, today.
- 3:38Carmen Lezeth: No, no, no, no, no no.
- 3:40Rick Costa: All the fireworks would come on.
- 3:42Rick Costa: Well, I just found out yesterday.
- 3:44Carmen Lezeth: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 3:46Carmen Lezeth: Can't talk over each other because I am not that good at editing.
- 3:53Rick Costa: I said, another good reason before the July is the fireworks might cover up the mom screaming.
- 3:59Carmen Lezeth: That's true, that's true.
- 4:01Carmen Lezeth: That's a good one.
- 4:01Carmen Lezeth: What were you saying, tommy?
- 4:03Tommy Lee: I found out that we might be putting Christmas Day on hold because my nephew and his girlfriend she's due around that time, so if she goes early we're not on.
- 4:16Carmen Lezeth: Christmas.
- 4:16Carmen Lezeth: See, I would think that's a terrible day to have a birthday Christmas day.
- 4:20Carmen Lezeth: That's what I heard.
- 4:22Carmen Lezeth: That would be horrible, but what I've heard too.
- 4:26Tony D.: I've grown Christmas babies and I got a sister.
- 4:28Tony D.: She was born on 4th of July, yeah.
- 4:32Carmen Lezeth: Her and Joe Lava.
- 4:32Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, do I know, joel Dubay.
- 4:34Carmen Lezeth: We'll have to talk about that later.
- 4:36Carmen Lezeth: Tommy, because I know the name, I just don't remember.
- 4:38Tommy Lee: I think he's now the president of Nesba, which there's no more Eastern Mass.
- 4:43Tommy Lee: So yeah All right.
- 4:45Carmen Lezeth: Okay, we're going to go into the way.
- 4:46Tommy Lee: Okay, that's another story for all the people, all the people, okay, so how?
- 4:49Carmen Lezeth: was everyone's Thanksgiving.
- 4:51Carmen Lezeth: Tommy Lee, how was your Thanksgiving?
- 4:53Carmen Lezeth: It was great.
- 4:55Tommy Lee: It was really.
- 4:55Tommy Lee: Yeah, really really was.
- 4:57Tommy Lee: I was kind of I was looking at the weather and I was like, oh, it's a great rain and snow up in New Hampshire and sleep.
- 5:04Tommy Lee: And then I got to drive home at night and I don't like driving at night and I had to take my oldest brother with me and drive 30 minutes out of my way to get him and then but we timed it perfectly the food was amazing, as always.
- 5:17Tommy Lee: My niece is a great cook, just sitting around and laughing with good food and you know old stories of back in the day and it was just fun.
- 5:28Tommy Lee: It was just fun, it was fun.
- 5:29Tommy Lee: It weren't for once there was not 30 people, it was a small group.
- 5:35Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, that's always good, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:36Carmen Lezeth: So it was nice.
- 5:37Carmen Lezeth: That's awesome, rick.
- 5:39Carmen Lezeth: How was yours?
- 5:41Rick Costa: Well, we were supposed to go to my son's mom's house, but let's just say it didn't happen.
- 5:50Carmen Lezeth: So okay, we can just leave it at that, if you want, that's okay.
- 5:56Rick Costa: He did come over at night with food though, so I was grateful, so it was good so all right, I'm gonna have to get that backstory later.
- 6:02Carmen Lezeth: That's all I'm saying.
- 6:03Carmen Lezeth: I had a great Thanksgiving.
- 6:07Carmen Lezeth: I ended up doing some volunteer work, which is what I kind of always do on Thanksgiving and I had just been back home because I had to go to that funeral.
- 6:14Carmen Lezeth: It's.
- 6:14Carmen Lezeth: I was done with traveling, but I had a lovely Thanksgiving as well.
- 6:18Carmen Lezeth: It probably is one of my favorite holidays, I think.
- 6:21Carmen Lezeth: Out of all of them, I think it's the easiest one.
- 6:23Carmen Lezeth: And then, of course, you know my birthday, which is the most important, you know, but that's coming up in January.
- 6:30Rick Costa: Just like that.
- 6:30Rick Costa: Yes, january babies, woohoo.
- 6:32Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, because woohoo.
- 6:33Carmen Lezeth: All right, so that's so funny.
- 6:36Carmen Lezeth: All right, I wanted to know if you guys had had any good or bad things you wanted to share.
- 6:42Carmen Lezeth: That has happened in the past week or so.
- 6:44Carmen Lezeth: Any news, anything good, bad, Go ahead Tommy.
- 6:50Tommy Lee: I have good news, as you know already.
- 6:53Carmen Lezeth: Yes, and that you know.
- 6:54Carmen Lezeth: It's kind of one of the reasons why I put in there.
- 6:55Carmen Lezeth: I was going to force you to say anything but so I got a job offer.
- 7:01Carmen Lezeth: Wait, you have to tell everyone that you were looking for work for a while, right?
- 7:06Tommy Lee: Yeah, almost a year since January.
- 7:09Tommy Lee: Yeah, and you know, at my age and where I am in my career, I have the right to be picky.
- 7:15Tommy Lee: Of course I deserve to be paid my worth and you know I'm not but at the same time I understand where the economy is and where we are right now.
- 7:25Tommy Lee: So I'm flexible.
- 7:27Tommy Lee: But you know there's certain criterias that just have to be like I will not drive an hour and a half into the city anymore and an hour and a half home anymore.
- 7:37Carmen Lezeth: I don't think I've ever done that in my entire life.
- 7:39Carmen Lezeth: But you lived in the city.
- 7:41Carmen Lezeth: I live in the suburbs.
- 7:42Carmen Lezeth: Oh, that's right.
- 7:46Carmen Lezeth: That's right yeah.
- 7:48Tommy Lee: So it's close to home, it's 20 minutes out, it's a contract position covering for the HR manager who's going out on maternity leave, but it does have the potential to go permanent.
- 8:00Carmen Lezeth: So congratulations, I'm so happy for you.
- 8:04Rick Costa: So all you had to do was go on all about the joy and boom, you got a job.
- 8:07Carmen Lezeth: You see what happened.
- 8:08Carmen Lezeth: It just happened, Just like the good energy.
- 8:10Carmen Lezeth: The good energy just throws it out there.
- 8:12Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, that's what it was, Rick.
- 8:14Carmen Lezeth: What about you?
- 8:18Rick Costa: Well, you said good or bad.
- 8:19Rick Costa: So, remember, I've been a little bit whining about my job because I'm like I don't know what's going on, who's where, what's where.
- 8:26Rick Costa: Well, now I know kind of what happened.
- 8:28Rick Costa: So the main building that they wanted did not get constructed properly.
- 8:33Rick Costa: So I was like, oh, you're kidding me, so what's going to happen?
- 8:36Rick Costa: When's everything going to be normal?
- 8:37Rick Costa: And they said, maybe April?
- 8:39Rick Costa: I was like April, I got here with this till April.
- 8:42Rick Costa: Oh well, it is what it is.
- 8:46Carmen Lezeth: But it doesn't mess with you, money wise or income wise, it's just a pain in the ass, that's all.
- 8:53Tony D.: Yeah, I thought you'd tell the word for the most part.
- 8:56Rick Costa: No, I went from home, but they just moved from where they were in one city to another city, to two different buildings.
- 9:03Rick Costa: One was supposed to be temporary and one the permanent one.
- 9:06Rick Costa: It was not up to code and now they got to redo stuff and they don't even have electricity there, you got to bring a generator.
- 9:13Rick Costa: What is happening?
- 9:15Rick Costa: So yeah, it's craziness right now.
- 9:17Carmen Lezeth: It's just cumbersome for you though.
- 9:19Rick Costa: Yeah, because I literally don't know who's where, what's where, like somebody would or something, oh yeah we probably have it, let me call.
- 9:25Rick Costa: I don't know who's where it is, it's just annoying.
- 9:27Rick Costa: Is it that much of ocean violation.
- 9:30Tony D.: What is?
- 9:31Carmen Lezeth: what is?
- 9:32Tony D.: the building, and then you have to bring your own, like heater or ventilation or whatever.
- 9:37Carmen Lezeth: I don't know Tommy.
- 9:39Carmen Lezeth: Tommy knows all about this stuff.
- 9:45Tommy Lee: I'm gonna have to agree.
- 9:46Tommy Lee: I mean, you would have to be up to code with OSHA and you know all those violations, and you can't have people working in a building that doesn't have heat or electricity.
- 9:56Rick Costa: It's literally just my boss.
- 9:57Rick Costa: He's the only one that goes there.
- 9:59Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, he owns a company's house.
- 10:00Carmen Lezeth: Whatever, tony, I know you text in or doing other things.
- 10:07Tony D.: I was clear my bills out.
- 10:09Tony D.: Sorry, I got to pay my bills.
- 10:20Rick Costa: Busy man tonight.
- 10:22Carmen Lezeth: Actually I enjoy this, I really do, and I know you do cuz you always on the shows.
- 10:28Tony D.: Oh, the people asked me to be there and it's not that it this time's what I can't be.
- 10:31Tony D.: I'll give it this past weekend More than anything.
- 10:33Tony D.: I give him when I'm at work, but if I've got free time I try to be there.
- 10:37Tony D.: I try to support everybody.
- 10:38Tony D.: I really do.
- 10:40Carmen Lezeth: Look at Tommy, don't know you.
- 10:42Carmen Lezeth: So he's like he spreads himself to thin.
- 10:50Carmen Lezeth: He gets upset with everybody.
- 10:52Carmen Lezeth: But he don't get upset cuz he's not that kind of guy, but down deep inside he is.
- 10:57Carmen Lezeth: It's a weird thing.
- 11:01Carmen Lezeth: He's just crazy.
- 11:02Carmen Lezeth: We love him, but he local.
- 11:06Tony D.: Right down, carmen says she loves me.
- 11:09Carmen Lezeth: No.
- 11:09Carmen Lezeth: It's on video oh, there you go, lord.
- 11:17Carmen Lezeth: So, tony, any any good or bad news this week?
- 11:20Carmen Lezeth: I mean, you had a birthday, so it couldn't have been like super bad.
- 11:23Tony D.: I have to tell you that this past month is good for a lot of things that need to be done and things cleared up over.
- 11:30Tony D.: With resolved this.
- 11:33Tony D.: It was a lot, and Rick knows a lot of what I've been going through for the past couple years and what I've had to get done and Between the move getting wait, wait, wait, wait, jealous, jealous, wait, what, what?
- 11:43Tony D.: Why does Rick know something I don't know because Rick been talking to me for the past couple years, he know what I've been going through.
- 11:50Carmen Lezeth: Well, that's so weird because Rick be talking to me and he didn't tell me nothing about you.
- 11:54Carmen Lezeth: I see how this is.
- 12:00Carmen Lezeth: Who's gonna get in trouble right now?
- 12:04Tony D.: You know about me having to move and everything.
- 12:06Tony D.: So that was the biggest fight in that move and he knew how hard I was trying to go through that.
- 12:09Tony D.: But I got to the move.
- 12:10Tony D.: I got things cleared up.
- 12:12Carmen Lezeth: Well, let's give Tommy a little information.
- 12:13Carmen Lezeth: You just finished a divorce and you had to move out of your home, or something right?
- 12:19Tony D.: Yeah, it was a fight I lost.
- 12:20Tony D.: Just being honest about it was a fight that I lost, so I had to move and it was moving Lasting.
- 12:26Tony D.: I had to travel out of town for a convention, come back and work and go back out of town.
- 12:30Tony D.: My birthday didn't come back and work.
- 12:31Tony D.: So it's been a lot.
- 12:32Tony D.: It's been very busy, been a progressive month.
- 12:34Tony D.: I will say progressive more than anything.
- 12:36Tony D.: But for some people who can't make it, and for others who have, make it.
- 12:40Tony D.: Excuse me, I try to get both sides of the story.
- 12:43Tony D.: You're either going to inspire or you're going to enforce something that somebody else went to when you tell your own Testimony and I enjoy that people have to learn how to get something out of being around people or Give a message that's going to inspire instead of being some negative on social media.
- 12:58Tony D.: I'm so sick.
- 12:59Tony D.: These negative folks up here is ridiculous.
- 13:01Carmen Lezeth: That's for real, for real, that's for real, that's true.
- 13:05Tony D.: That's what I try to push more than anything.
- 13:08Carmen Lezeth: It's just social media.
- 13:10Carmen Lezeth: I mean, I know you spend a lot of time on social media, but this is one of the things that happened to me this week.
- 13:15Carmen Lezeth: I'm just tired of negativity in general.
- 13:18Carmen Lezeth: Like I have no tolerance anymore.
- 13:21Carmen Lezeth: Like people coming up with excuses at work for why they didn't do something they're supposed to do all the time.
- 13:27Carmen Lezeth: Like like, we have to have reports ready for our clients, right, it's part of what we do.
- 13:32Carmen Lezeth: So like not having that regular report at the meeting on a Wednesday that we've been doing for five years.
- 13:39Tony D.: You know what I mean.
- 13:41Carmen Lezeth: And and then the excuse is not you know what.
- 13:44Carmen Lezeth: I'm sorry, I messed up.
- 13:45Carmen Lezeth: It's well, sheila Didn't call Susan and then Susan told me and I thought that and I was.
- 13:53Carmen Lezeth: I have no Patience anymore and I don't even think that's about getting older.
- 13:57Carmen Lezeth: I'm just done with people being Irresponsible, negative people who push other people down to lift themselves up.
- 14:06Carmen Lezeth: So over you.
- 14:10Tony D.: That's just on my desk, your clip.
- 14:12Tony D.: I want that out there.
- 14:13Tony D.: People who have to push other people down to get themselves up you suck, I'm calling you out.
- 14:17Tony D.: I've been like, yeah, are the weakest motherfuckers walking?
- 14:21Tony D.: Guys, we're in earth.
- 14:22Tony D.: And I said you let down, purpose it's really like it, down to put yourself up.
- 14:25Tony D.: You're the weak one.
- 14:26Tony D.: We ought to crab in a barrel your ass to the bottom.
- 14:31Carmen Lezeth: Okay, that will be a clip as well, look it.
- 14:37Carmen Lezeth: But I think it says something about the society we're in right now.
- 14:41Carmen Lezeth: So right now, what's happening?
- 14:42Carmen Lezeth: It's 615 here on the West Coast and you know we don't really talk about politics here, but right now DeSantis and Gavin Newsom are on Fox News having quote-unquote debate.
- 14:55Carmen Lezeth: I want to be on the same wavelength of what you're bringing to the tape watching on Ted show.
- 15:01Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, watch it on Ted show.
- 15:05Tony D.: Well, it probably be over by then, oh 90 minutes.
- 15:10Tommy Lee: I'm pretty sure you can.
- 15:10Carmen Lezeth: YouTube it or find it somewhere.
- 15:11Tommy Lee: I mean, tony, you do what you gotta do, but I don't want to hear it in the background.
- 15:15Carmen Lezeth: The reason why I bring it up is because I know that a lot of people are like all gunning to watch it.
- 15:18Carmen Lezeth: Rivalry fight thing, a Magiggy between Florida and California, and I'm.
- 15:28Carmen Lezeth: I'm so over it.
- 15:28Carmen Lezeth: I have a good aspect of it.
- 15:30Carmen Lezeth: I have not heard that what?
- 15:32Tony D.: do you mean what aspect of California thing?
- 15:33Tony D.: I have not heard that aspect.
- 15:35Carmen Lezeth: Well, it doesn't matter.
- 15:36Carmen Lezeth: I mean that's why they're, that's why they're having this debate right, it's because they've been both like who's sorry, I'm gonna say it this way who's penis is bigger?
- 15:42Carmen Lezeth: Right, who's bigger is basically, and look it, I love Gavin Newsom, don't get me wrong.
- 15:49Carmen Lezeth: I live in California for a reason and I voted for him and I love him.
- 15:51Carmen Lezeth: But he, you know, even I'm like disgusted that this is even Happening, because it's not necessary.
- 16:02Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean for me.
- 16:03Carmen Lezeth: But it's going back to that negativity.
- 16:04Carmen Lezeth: It's like we're all Harnessing, I mean even like because you're putting it on, because we all like the car accident.
- 16:09Carmen Lezeth: We pretend that we don't, but we all, we all gravitate towards the car accident, but we all, we all gravitate towards negativity and I don't know why I'm gonna give you the truth.
- 16:21Tony D.: I really didn't give a damn yet about a lot of these politicians campaigner for the presidency.
- 16:25Tony D.: I think it's too early and I'm not too comfortable in any of the candidates.
- 16:29Carmen Lezeth: I'm really now we're not talking about politics here, but thank you for sharing.
- 16:32Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm just saying, going back to negativity, right, that's what I'm talking about.
- 16:38Tony D.: Internet, I'm saying it's everywhere is what I want to contribute to that, if you don't mind.
- 16:41Tony D.: I've been saying for years Disrespect is taking over society worse than politics, and negativity is one of the biggest aspects.
- 16:48Tony D.: Of people are very negative and disrespectful To this side.
- 16:51Tony D.: They've been that way, I, before the pandemic.
- 16:54Tony D.: They've been worse after.
- 16:56Tony D.: What happens?
- 16:56Tony D.: What do you?
- 16:57Carmen Lezeth: mean by disrespect?
- 16:58Carmen Lezeth: Can you hone in on an example?
- 17:01Tony D.: People have no respect for anything or anybody.
- 17:04Tony D.: It's terrible out here.
- 17:05Tony D.: Yes, sir.
- 17:07Tommy Lee: I have to agree with you and I'm going to put it in the terms that I use, and I actually come and I learned this from Jerry, I think especially after what you just said after COVID, everybody is me, me, me, I, I, I.
- 17:23Tommy Lee: Yes, it's all about me.
- 17:26Tony D.: And I know it's for anything else or anything anybody else has except for themselves.
- 17:32Tommy Lee: Right, and I think it's gotten worse after COVID.
- 17:35Rick Costa: Yes, it's interesting that this came up.
- 17:36Rick Costa: I was watching Gary V on Twitch and one of the things they were saying was that in our generation it used to be the elders were the respected ones and the kids were like what do you know?
- 17:47Rick Costa: Now it's flipped.
- 17:48Rick Costa: If you're not young and hip and hot, you're nothing.
- 17:52Rick Costa: And the old people, what do you know?
- 17:54Rick Costa: It's reversed.
- 17:54Rick Costa: He goes that's messed up.
- 17:55Rick Costa: It's true, it's very true.
- 17:58Carmen Lezeth: But I'm going to put a little twist in this.
- 18:00Carmen Lezeth: Like, as much as I agree with what you're saying, rick, our generation is the one that's raising these kids.
- 18:08Carmen Lezeth: Like I've had this argument before with parents I'm not a parent, but that's why I can see so clearly.
- 18:14Carmen Lezeth: That's how I'm going to say it People are upset with this other generation, but you, motherfucking, raise them.
- 18:22Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 18:22Carmen Lezeth: Like you taught them.
- 18:24Carmen Lezeth: You gave them an iPhone when they were four, so that they could be babysat, and then you're mad at them because that's all they do.
- 18:31Carmen Lezeth: Hey, Cynthia, how you doing she's like sorry I'm late, it's OK.
- 18:37Rick Costa: That was actually part of it too.
- 18:38Rick Costa: He was saying it was because of the technology.
- 18:40Rick Costa: And nap, because the old people don't understand how to use the technology, so they feel left out.
- 18:44Rick Costa: And the young people are like you don't know how to do this, so making them look like they're stupid.
- 18:48Carmen Lezeth: I don't even know if that's true.
- 18:49Carmen Lezeth: That's an extreme, because we're not even talking about old people, we're talking about us and millennials versus Gen Z, right?
- 18:57Carmen Lezeth: I mean, all of us know how to use technology.
- 18:59Carmen Lezeth: I mean, I know what you're saying, rick, but I also think that's a cop out.
- 19:02Carmen Lezeth: It's not about technology.
- 19:04Carmen Lezeth: The whole great thing about the human race is that we're always progressing forward and moving faster.
- 19:10Carmen Lezeth: Right?
- 19:10Carmen Lezeth: We had color TV when I was growing up, as opposed to radio from back in the day or whatever, right?
- 19:15Carmen Lezeth: I mean, I'm just saying so.
- 19:17Carmen Lezeth: I refuse to use technology as a reason why people are disrespectful or negative.
- 19:24Carmen Lezeth: I actually think a part of it this is just my little opinion is it goes back to what Tommy was saying this me, me, me thing we really have.
- 19:34Carmen Lezeth: Like, what's that thing?
- 19:36Carmen Lezeth: Is it called pendulum?
- 19:36Carmen Lezeth: Not pendulum?
- 19:37Carmen Lezeth: But we've swung one way to the other.
- 19:40Tommy Lee: Scale.
- 19:42Carmen Lezeth: Yeah the scales are, but maybe it is pendulum, I don't know.
- 19:45Carmen Lezeth: You go from one into the next.
- 19:47Carmen Lezeth: Pendulum is swinging.
- 19:47Carmen Lezeth: Ok, so pendulum, right.
- 19:49Carmen Lezeth: So I remember back in the day when I was younger.
- 19:52Carmen Lezeth: It was really all about like, I'm of service, I'm in the way I'm a kid, I need to be quiet, I need to really do my work really, really hard and try, try hard because I need to please other people.
- 20:04Carmen Lezeth: And then we're all like, no, we need to have self-care, we need to take care of ourselves, and I'm all good for that.
- 20:13Carmen Lezeth: But the pendulum has swung the other way, where it's all about me, me, me, me, me.
- 20:16Carmen Lezeth: We have to get to a middle place where you can both be humble and be of service and take care of other people and love other people and consider other people, be considerate, but also take care of yourself and understand that you are worthy and that you matter and that you should have self-care.
- 20:38Tony D.: I agree, I agree you got to take care of yourself.
- 20:41Tony D.: You got to take care of yourself before you can take care of anybody else.
- 20:44Carmen Lezeth: Wait, who did?
- 20:44Tommy Lee: Tommy, just talk to.
- 20:45Tommy Lee: I was listening to you and I have Alexa playing in the background and I thought she was a little too loud so I didn't want her to overtake what anybody was saying.
- 20:58Tommy Lee: I was like introduce honey.
- 21:00Carmen Lezeth: Introduce, we need to see who the person is.
- 21:03Tommy Lee: I asked him to just lower it.
- 21:05Tommy Lee: We'll go, go go.
- 21:06Rick Costa: I thought it was the dog.
- 21:08Carmen Lezeth: I thought it was the dog too.
- 21:09Carmen Lezeth: That's what I was saying.
- 21:10Carmen Lezeth: Oh no, he already went to bed.
- 21:11Tommy Lee: Oh my God, he's so funny.
- 21:12Tommy Lee: He looked at me and he's like yeah, it's eight o'clock, let's go.
- 21:16Tommy Lee: And he stopped, and he looked at me and he was like fine, and he went and he curled up in the bed.
- 21:21Rick Costa: I'm done, I'm out.
- 21:21Tommy Lee: That's a good one Good talking, I'm actually more upset.
- 21:27Carmen Lezeth: I mean, it's kind of the same thing.
- 21:28Carmen Lezeth: I have no more patience for negativity.
- 21:30Carmen Lezeth: But it's also the lack of consideration of other people, the way in which and I'll say this till I'm blue in the face I am so disgusted by don't get upset, tommy, but I'm done with pet parents and pet parents who then look at other people, other human beings, like crap, like homeless people Like I literally watch every day when I'm here in California I watch people.
- 21:58Carmen Lezeth: They have their dogs with their outfits on or they're in the carriage or whatever, and they walk by a homeless person who is minding their own damn business, just trying to whatever exists, and just the nastiness, just you can feel the energy.
- 22:14Carmen Lezeth: I'm over it.
- 22:16Tommy Lee: It's kind of like, that's kind of how I feel about soccer moms.
- 22:20Carmen Lezeth: With their.
- 22:21Carmen Lezeth: They don't exist anymore.
- 22:22Carmen Lezeth: Is that just the?
- 22:23Tommy Lee: Oh, believe me, they're out there with their baseball caps and the ponytail through the back, and they got their jogging suit on their pink jogging suit and drinking their latte.
- 22:34Carmen Lezeth: It's not a latte.
- 22:35Carmen Lezeth: It's usually in the thing, it's all like yeah, we all know what it is.
- 22:39Tommy Lee: It's not a latte.
- 22:40Tony D.: The cappuccino.
- 22:42Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, it's a cappuccino.
- 22:44Carmen Lezeth: Extra from Starbucks.
- 22:46Carmen Lezeth: Oh, wait so we are soccer moms, now Karen's.
- 22:49Carmen Lezeth: Is that what they are?
- 22:50Tommy Lee: Yes, Some are.
- 22:52Tony D.: Yes, some of them are yes.
- 22:53Carmen Lezeth: And that's a good point that you just brought up See how things involve, how things change, oh, from soccer moms, soccer moms, and now Right, I mean I guess the Karen thing is people that want to talk to your manager and they just don't have any patience or whatever.
- 23:06Carmen Lezeth: But isn't being a soccer mom a negative thing, or is it not?
- 23:10Carmen Lezeth: Because I don't know what a soccer mom is Originally no.
- 23:12Carmen Lezeth: Ok.
- 23:13Tony D.: That a stay at home mom is doing everything with the kids and the father's always busy working.
- 23:16Tony D.: Correct Originally.
- 23:18Carmen Lezeth: Originally OK, and then it evolved into something else.
- 23:22Tony D.: It evolved into somebody who's looking to live their life and I want to say as a dependent of their spouse which is cool because you're doing something with the kids.
- 23:30Tony D.: But some of them want to be drama gossiping.
- 23:33Tony D.: They pretty much want to do their board and they need something to do.
- 23:37Tony D.: That's what they start doing the camera crap.
- 23:39Carmen Lezeth: Right, cynthia just said Starbucks with Bailey's.
- 23:42Carmen Lezeth: Hey, whatever works, baby, not what I hear you.
- 23:46Tony D.: So they all drink your white Russians.
- 23:48Tommy Lee: I mean, let's face it, if we could all stay home and be independently wealthy, I'm pretty sure we'd all do it, wouldn't we?
- 23:54Tony D.: Yes, those of us that have worked absolutely.
- 23:56Tony D.: Yeah.
- 23:57Carmen Lezeth: OK, here's what I'll say.
- 23:58Carmen Lezeth: I feel like, just because I know so many ridiculously wealthy people, that is an actual recipe for disaster, Because at some point you get bored, you have nothing to do and then you start nitpicking over the stupidest thing, so you have to find something to do with your life.
- 24:14Carmen Lezeth: That's what I tell people.
- 24:15Carmen Lezeth: It's not about money.
- 24:16Carmen Lezeth: I know so many rich people I have never in all my life and I've been here now 30 years this August I'll be here 30 years and I've worked for so old oil money, self-made millionaires who have nothing to do with the industry, Hollywood celebrities who had nothing, or whatever, or our Nepo children or whatever you call them, whatever.
- 24:37Carmen Lezeth: I swear to you on my mother's grave I would not trade my life or my financial situation for not one of them.
- 24:45Carmen Lezeth: People, not one.
- 24:47Carmen Lezeth: And I have two of them that I think of my favorite clients.
- 24:49Carmen Lezeth: I still would not change Nothing Because I see money does not make you happy.
- 24:57Carmen Lezeth: It gives you choices, but it does not change the essence of who you are in the world.
- 25:03Carmen Lezeth: And do I think rich people can be happy?
- 25:05Carmen Lezeth: Sure, I'm not saying they're not.
- 25:07Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying money comes with a whole other lot of problems, and if you're not OK with who you are in the world, a lot of money is not going to make that better.
- 25:17Tony D.: That's the right level to go to with you, rick.
- 25:19Tony D.: Go ahead.
- 25:20Tony D.: Rick, I didn't want to cut you off.
- 25:21Tony D.: No, no, I wasn't saying that You're around the rich folks.
- 25:24Tony D.: So for those of us who are around the rich folks, let me ask you this They've got the money that we're fighting to get.
- 25:30Tony D.: Are they lonelier Mainly because they can't trust who they're around?
- 25:34Tony D.: Are they lonelier based on the knowledge that they have that we don't?
- 25:37Carmen Lezeth: Tony, that's a great question.
- 25:38Carmen Lezeth: I'll tell you this part, I think loneliness it runs the gamut through everyone, right?
- 25:44Carmen Lezeth: I mean, that's part of the problem with social media and people being so negative is we're all pretending to have these amazing lives with our Instagram posts and our TikToks or whatever, but at the end of the day, the truth is probably something else, right?
- 26:00Tony D.: I think they're showing the good times of their lives more than they're showing off what they don't have.
- 26:05Carmen Lezeth: Right, right.
- 26:05Carmen Lezeth: So then we all start comparing ourselves to the best parts of Tony D, as opposed to actually knowing, maybe, what the truth is, which is an entire thing.
- 26:16Carmen Lezeth: So let me be clear.
- 26:18Carmen Lezeth: The reason why I wouldn't trade my life with any of the rich people that I have worked for all of them is because money doesn't solve the problem.
- 26:27Carmen Lezeth: I love who I am.
- 26:30Carmen Lezeth: I love the person I've become.
- 26:33Carmen Lezeth: I love everything I've done right, I've learned from everything I've done wrong and I feel really confident and secure in who I am.
- 26:43Carmen Lezeth: I don't think I can say that about a lot of the people that are my clients.
- 26:49Carmen Lezeth: It has nothing to do with money and everything to do with the fact that money is a facade.
- 26:55Carmen Lezeth: Money gives you choices.
- 26:57Carmen Lezeth: Don't get me wrong.
- 26:58Carmen Lezeth: I'm not saying I would be like oh, I want the lottery.
- 27:00Carmen Lezeth: No, I must be living paycheck to paycheck and I wouldn't take it.
- 27:05Carmen Lezeth: I'm saying that money isn't the thing that solves loneliness, or actually most of the people I've met, especially in the past.
- 27:15Carmen Lezeth: I had some pretty interesting clients who grew up with money.
- 27:19Carmen Lezeth: They had nannies.
- 27:21Carmen Lezeth: Generational wealth is very different than Hollywood wealth, very, very different.
- 27:25Carmen Lezeth: And I would say those were the loneliest people I've ever known, because it's not even that they don't trust anybody, but there's a Like.
- 27:36Carmen Lezeth: It's sad when I think about it.
- 27:37Carmen Lezeth: A lot of people thought I was their friend, like they were paying me.
- 27:43Carmen Lezeth: Of course I was going to listen to you.
- 27:45Carmen Lezeth: I wasn't interested but you were paying me and I'm doing your books or whatever, and if you want to talk to me about what your doctor said and your daughter and your son, and I'm going to listen to you.
- 27:54Carmen Lezeth: But they would be like, oh, you're such a good friend, Carmen, and it was a weird thing because I'd be like, no, I know where this is going.
- 28:00Carmen Lezeth: We are not friends because they would fire me in a heartbeat tomorrow.
- 28:04Tony D.: That's true and that's your mentality on the aspect of what you're doing.
- 28:06Tony D.: I got that point.
- 28:07Carmen Lezeth: So money doesn't change loneliness or happiness, or it doesn't give you medical Like you would think, being able to go to any medical doctor and do whatever you want to do.
- 28:20Carmen Lezeth: You know what?
- 28:21Carmen Lezeth: My clients still died of cancer, suffered with whatever diseases, like everyone else you know, like all of these weird things.
- 28:30Tony D.: I could do this for an hour.
- 28:31Tony D.: I could really do this for an hour.
- 28:33Tony D.: What for an hour?
- 28:34Tony D.: Do what?
- 28:34Tony D.: The question that I could ask you.
- 28:38Tony D.: From the answer you have, because I don't know too many people in that position, and a lot of times when we bring up questions about things, you'll notice how me and Brian will be like we know this, we know this.
- 28:46Tony D.: You'll be like really, it's both sides of the equation.
- 28:49Tony D.: The rich people you would think they had to earn their way up there.
- 28:53Tony D.: When they get there, you realize how many other people aren't.
- 28:56Tony D.: You're watching everybody else go through what they're going through.
- 28:58Tony D.: Some of the loneliness is, I mean look it, I'm not trying this.
- 29:04Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying in my experience and I can say I've worked with, I'm going to say, over 40 extremely wealthy people Over the years I've seen people who had nothing and then made it big.
- 29:17Carmen Lezeth: That's a whole other ball game.
- 29:19Carmen Lezeth: You would think like, oh there are the big ones.
- 29:21Carmen Lezeth: No, money can be very manipulative and powerful and you create bumps along the way.
- 29:29Carmen Lezeth: I'll tell you I worked for everyone knows I worked for brand new school and that was a young man who still has a company now and is very wealthy comparatively to other people like ourselves, and watching him go from nothing and become so successful was an extraordinary window of something.
- 29:49Carmen Lezeth: I will never make mistakes Because I learned from that.
- 29:51Carmen Lezeth: If I ever have that opportunity to go that route, you know what I mean Because I'm an enthusiast.
- 29:57Tony D.: It's not enthusiasm.
- 30:00Carmen Lezeth: Money has an ability because if you're not mature enough to deal with it, it changes you.
- 30:05Carmen Lezeth: Yes, right, because you think now you have power.
- 30:12Carmen Lezeth: But money power is bullshit power.
- 30:15Carmen Lezeth: Real power has nothing to do with money.
- 30:20Tony D.: I think it has due respect.
- 30:22Carmen Lezeth: That's all we done and that was a great show.
- 30:25Carmen Lezeth: Thank you so much, but that is it.
- 30:29Carmen Lezeth: If you respect someone, it doesn't matter how much money they have.
- 30:31Carmen Lezeth: All of a sudden, that's a real different kind of or somebody's really smart and is able to do it.
- 30:35Carmen Lezeth: Somebody's really smart and is able to teach you something.
- 30:39Carmen Lezeth: You have respect for them.
- 30:41Carmen Lezeth: That's going to trump any kind of money any day of the week.
- 30:45Rick Costa: There's too many people that believe that they're broke or just wanted more, but they think well, if I was rich, I would be happy, and it's so not true.
- 30:55Tommy Lee: You know it's funny.
- 30:56Tommy Lee: You said that because this is the third time money and happiness has come up in this conversation In different ways.
- 31:03Tommy Lee: You just said it, kamen.
- 31:06Tommy Lee: You said it earlier Money does not buy you happiness.
- 31:10Carmen Lezeth: And I love that.
- 31:11Carmen Lezeth: I've had the experience because, like we say it as a cliche, but I'm telling you I swear to your mama there's gravy and I'll never say that twice, but it is so factual, I've seen it up close and personal.
- 31:23Carmen Lezeth: And look, it's not to say that we shouldn't want to pursue to have more money to pay some bills.
- 31:28Carmen Lezeth: That would feel so good.
- 31:29Carmen Lezeth: I am all for people making whatever money and developing whatever they want and creativity, and you know, you get your paycheck, do what you got to do.
- 31:38Carmen Lezeth: But the people.
- 31:40Carmen Lezeth: I'll tell you this one story that's actually a cool one.
- 31:42Carmen Lezeth: So I worked for this woman who was very regretful of the way in which she raised her children, because she raised her children all with nannies, so all of her children are older than I am.
- 31:55Carmen Lezeth: Okay, she has since passed away.
- 31:56Carmen Lezeth: She was one of my favorite clients because we ended up getting really, really close.
- 32:00Carmen Lezeth: I worked for her when I first came out here.
- 32:02Carmen Lezeth: Then, when I got this big job at brand new school, she helped me with buying like designer clothing or whatever we be.
- 32:09Carmen Lezeth: You know we had lunch or whatever because I wasn't working for her anymore, and then afterwards I ended up.
- 32:13Carmen Lezeth: She became one of my clients, again because she opened up a nonprofit, you know anyways.
- 32:17Carmen Lezeth: So you get the idea right.
- 32:18Carmen Lezeth: So we did have kind of a more friendly, different relationship and she would talk to me about things that she regretted, which was that you know the way she grew up and then the way her children were raised and there was a distance between her and her children and it's palpable, you know what I mean.
- 32:37Carmen Lezeth: It's so palpable.
- 32:38Carmen Lezeth: And at the end of her life, you know, she did this really amazing, beautiful thing that she gave all of her money away to charity.
- 32:47Carmen Lezeth: Right, she had this foundation or whatever Her children who would never want for anything, right, because you're talking kind of like close to kind of warm buffet money.
- 32:56Carmen Lezeth: Right, this is what we're talking about in a way.
- 32:58Carmen Lezeth: Right, we're so angry about it, angry about they would never.
- 33:03Carmen Lezeth: I didn't touch their trust funds, didn't do anything.
- 33:06Carmen Lezeth: But the amount of anger and angst, what they did, you know, because it was the principal to them, it was.
- 33:13Carmen Lezeth: You know, she did this to us, she didn't tell us and I was like that is some weird motherfucking shit, like I would have been so proud of my mother.
- 33:22Carmen Lezeth: I would have been like, wow, you know what I mean, but and it's to me, it will always stick.
- 33:29Carmen Lezeth: And I mean there's so much more I would say, but I don't want to be too ghetto about it.
- 33:33Carmen Lezeth: But they were also angry with the staff that worked for her because, well, we didn't know either.
- 33:39Carmen Lezeth: It's not like she told us all what she was doing, but we were so much closer to her than they were at the end of her life and they were so evil to everyone.
- 33:50Carmen Lezeth: So I just I say this because money is the root of all evil.
- 33:57Carmen Lezeth: It doesn't have to be, but if you're not secure in who you are, money has no friend or family.
- 34:03Carmen Lezeth: True.
- 34:04Rick Costa: It's the love of money.
- 34:05Rick Costa: That's the root of money and that's why he's pointing at me, because he knows I'm getting very safe Love of money.
- 34:08Carmen Lezeth: Oh, that was happening.
- 34:09Carmen Lezeth: Love of money?
- 34:09Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 34:10Carmen Lezeth: I mean, yeah, the love of money.
- 34:14Carmen Lezeth: You're right, I think money is a tool and we should all want the best tool possible.
- 34:19Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 34:19Carmen Lezeth: That's how I have learned my lesson from all these people is so many of the people that I've worked for throughout the years have such regrets.
- 34:28Carmen Lezeth: Hey, ted, how you doing?
- 34:30Carmen Lezeth: What's cream?
- 34:32Tony D.: He always moves everything around me cream Dalla, dalla, bill y'all.
- 34:39Carmen Lezeth: Oh, ted Hicks is in the house.
- 34:41Carmen Lezeth: He opened.
- 34:43Carmen Lezeth: Me and Rick are always like why.
- 34:47Tony D.: That's why I'm here.
- 34:50Carmen Lezeth: But money should be used as a tool.
- 34:51Carmen Lezeth: And because I handle so many people's money, I feel like I've learned.
- 34:56Carmen Lezeth: That is the lesson I've learned is like, if you can see money, whether you have it or you don't have it, detach the emotional part.
- 35:04Carmen Lezeth: Tommy, I was telling you this the other day and I've told so many people this story.
- 35:09Carmen Lezeth: It's not a story, it's a saying.
- 35:10Carmen Lezeth: You know, we all say, oh, money don't mean that to me, I don't care about money.
- 35:15Carmen Lezeth: Yes, you do, because when somebody tries to offer you money or somebody tries to help you, we all like no, no, no, no, no.
- 35:21Carmen Lezeth: We all get into a crazy funk about it.
- 35:24Carmen Lezeth: If you really don't give a fuck about money, it's not going to hit you emotionally, whether you're giving it, whether you're receiving it, whether you're sharing it.
- 35:32Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 35:33Carmen Lezeth: It's like that's kind of what I'm trying to say.
- 35:36Carmen Lezeth: I have worked so hard in my life to just realize that that's the lesson I've learned.
- 35:40Carmen Lezeth: I guess I had to learn it.
- 35:42Carmen Lezeth: Working for all these people.
- 35:43Carmen Lezeth: You know, people think they can, like this other client of the day said to me what if I pay you more money, will you stay?
- 35:50Carmen Lezeth: Will you work a few more hours a week for me.
- 35:52Carmen Lezeth: I said what I want you can't give me.
- 35:54Carmen Lezeth: I want more time.
- 35:57Tony D.: He doesn't know about to let him go.
- 35:58Tony D.: I hope he's watching the show.
- 36:00Tony D.: You know I said you went deep on them.
- 36:04Tony D.: I got where you coming from, but you went deep on her.
- 36:07Tommy Lee: Really good point, like the reason.
- 36:08Tommy Lee: Like I said earlier, you know I have certain rules and regulations and standards.
- 36:12Tommy Lee: I am not going to do an hour and a half drive into the city and an hour to drop half drive because I need more time.
- 36:19Tommy Lee: That's right.
- 36:20Tommy Lee: That's four hours out of my day, you know.
- 36:23Tommy Lee: I get up in the morning it's dark.
- 36:25Tommy Lee: I come home at night after working it's dark.
- 36:27Tommy Lee: What do I do?
- 36:28Tommy Lee: I'm kind of what quality of life is that?
- 36:31Tommy Lee: When I come home, I throw a frozen dinner in the microwave because I'm too tired to cook anything.
- 36:40Carmen Lezeth: Why don't you just have your chef set up your meals for the week?
- 36:42Carmen Lezeth: Yeah right, no clients.
- 36:46Tony D.: You don't get enough of you, don't get enough value for the time spent is what you're saying.
- 36:51Tommy Lee: Exactly.
- 36:53Tony D.: So what if it was worth it?
- 36:54Tony D.: So you had less hours, you still had the same drive.
- 36:57Tony D.: Would you do it?
- 36:57Tony D.: Which goes back to what she was saying about time.
- 37:00Tommy Lee: That's a really good question.
- 37:01Tony D.: I appreciate it and I'm asking seriously.
- 37:03Tony D.: I've had jobs and I want to throw this out there.
- 37:05Tony D.: Yeah, it was only one time ever I felt like the money wasn't worth it.
- 37:08Tony D.: I was making more money than I ever made before, I had debts cleared, I had excess in the bank and then I got tired of the job and that's when I was deployed overseas.
- 37:18Tony D.: I was like I don't wanna be here anymore, I'd rather be home.
- 37:22Tony D.: I wish I could make this a home.
- 37:23Tony D.: I just don't wanna be at this location.
- 37:25Tony D.: So for a lot of people where the money isn't worth it, you're not enjoying what you're doing.
- 37:28Tony D.: Say you were to enjoy what you're doing.
- 37:30Tony D.: And there are a lot of rich people who get a kick out of what they are doing, where the money isn't a problem, but they don't have a problem with the money that they're making either.
- 37:38Tony D.: See, the two kind of coincided.
- 37:40Tony D.: What Tommy's actually saying is he's gotta put too much into getting the money.
- 37:45Tommy Lee: I look at it this way.
- 37:46Tommy Lee: And the situation I was in.
- 37:49Tommy Lee: I was making really good money working in the city.
- 37:52Tommy Lee: I didn't have to want for anything.
- 37:54Tommy Lee: The problem was I never had any time to do anything.
- 37:58Tommy Lee: Yes, I couldn't take a vacation because I had to be there.
- 38:03Tommy Lee: I didn't have the time to spend, to just, even on a weekend, go shopping because, well, my phone's gonna ring and we need you to come in.
- 38:13Tommy Lee: Things like that.
- 38:15Tony D.: I was 21, moved out of my home for the first time, was working two jobs.
- 38:21Tony D.: I had money in the bank and no time to spend it because I was too tired to go anywhere.
- 38:26Tony D.: Exactly so I fully understand what you're saying and, mind you, I only had an extra $250 in the bank at the time, which isn't a lot of money, but for somebody who was single, with no kids, living in a used apartment, driving a used car, yeah, I was right.
- 38:38Tony D.: Yeah, right, right, exactly so I did it and especially, now at my age, the things you was able to get a job that paid you what you was worth and you had time on your hands.
- 38:47Tony D.: I think you would get something out of some of the comfortability rich people have If they are living that comfortably and, based on what Carmen is saying, a bunch of them aren't.
- 38:57Tommy Lee: I agree with Cynthia.
- 38:58Tommy Lee: No job is worth your mental health.
- 39:01Tony D.: I agree too, by the way.
- 39:03Carmen Lezeth: Tommy Cynthia is the one who loves you.
- 39:05Carmen Lezeth: She's like he is so cute and adorable.
- 39:07Carmen Lezeth: I love him.
- 39:08Carmen Lezeth: I love him.
- 39:08Carmen Lezeth: I sent him she can't wait to meet you.
- 39:11Carmen Lezeth: You'll meet her.
- 39:12Carmen Lezeth: She's on our show.
- 39:14Carmen Lezeth: She's my cousin.
- 39:14Carmen Lezeth: She's actually my cousin.
- 39:17Tony D.: She's your cousin, yeah, cynthia.
- 39:19Carmen Lezeth: She's my cousin.
- 39:21Tony D.: Y'all do look similar, though Y'all do laugh the same.
- 39:23Carmen Lezeth: We don't look similar at all because we have differences.
- 39:25Carmen Lezeth: I told you we don't have a family tree, we have a family bush.
- 39:28Carmen Lezeth: Bush, we don't look like it was yeah.
- 39:32Carmen Lezeth: I know I'm not saying that people.
- 39:33Carmen Lezeth: Rick, why don't you chime in?
- 39:35Carmen Lezeth: You didn't say no.
- 39:35Rick Costa: I was going to say if you can't enjoy life, I don't care how much money you throw at me.
- 39:39Rick Costa: If I'm miserable, I don't want your money.
- 39:41Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 39:42Carmen Lezeth: I'm not saying people are walking around miserable who are rich.
- 39:45Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying I do know a couple of people that I think handle money well, you know what I mean.
- 39:51Carmen Lezeth: These two individual people happen to earn their money.
- 39:55Carmen Lezeth: They grew up really poor.
- 39:58Tommy Lee: You know working in human resources, not to cut anybody off, but no true words have ever been said Like I've looked at people that I've worked with.
- 40:07Tommy Lee: You get to know them and you can tell their stress, whatever the case may be, whether it's about money or a home situation or a personal thing.
- 40:18Tommy Lee: Whatever I've actually said to people, you know what Go home, Take tomorrow off.
- 40:23Tommy Lee: Go home, Take tomorrow off, Decompress, We'll pay you for the day.
- 40:28Tommy Lee: My boss is looking at me like are you kidding me?
- 40:30Tommy Lee: Right now I'm like no, that's legal Work with me.
- 40:33Tommy Lee: It's legal.
- 40:33Rick Costa: Please work with me, and that's a good boss.
- 40:37Tommy Lee: I mean, I don't do it for everyone.
- 40:40Tommy Lee: I do it for the people who I know deserve it.
- 40:42Tony D.: Agreed.
- 40:43Tommy Lee: Well, look, here's the thing.
- 40:44Carmen Lezeth: This is my mantra.
- 40:45Carmen Lezeth: I always tell my clients your commodity is not whatever it is you think you're creating.
- 40:51Carmen Lezeth: Your commodity is the people who work for you.
- 40:54Carmen Lezeth: I don't care what you're creating, I don't care what you think you're putting out in the world.
- 40:58Carmen Lezeth: If the people aren't there working, doing what they got to do, you have nothing to sell.
- 41:02Carmen Lezeth: Yes, so you're absolutely on point.
- 41:04Carmen Lezeth: I mean that's.
- 41:05Carmen Lezeth: You know, I have this conversation all the time and again.
- 41:08Carmen Lezeth: I have no patience anymore.
- 41:09Carmen Lezeth: So I just tell my clients, like either you trust me or you don't.
- 41:12Carmen Lezeth: So if this person needs a day off and they're not feeling well and they're sitting here suffering, first of all I don't want to get whatever it is they're sniffling about.
- 41:21Carmen Lezeth: That's number one.
- 41:23Carmen Lezeth: Number two they are exhausted, they are tired, they are doing half-assed work which is costing you more money.
- 41:31Carmen Lezeth: Dumbass Like.
- 41:33Carmen Lezeth: I get no patience for my clients, the more or the less.
- 41:36Tommy Lee: The reason why I brought that up and the reason why I and I said this to my boss afterwards.
- 41:41Tommy Lee: I said you know, you get three bereavement days when somebody passes away.
- 41:46Tommy Lee: Yes, where my mother passed away, I got three days off.
- 41:51Tommy Lee: Wow, wow.
- 41:52Tommy Lee: I went back to work.
- 41:53Tommy Lee: I was not emotionally ready to go back to work.
- 41:58Tommy Lee: I just lost my mother Right and I was fine during the day.
- 42:03Tommy Lee: I'll never forget it.
- 42:04Tommy Lee: But everybody kept coming up to me saying I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, and I just kept hearing it over and over and over again until I just lost it.
- 42:12Tommy Lee: Yeah, and one of my really good friends, who I'm still good friends with today, she's like no, no, no, no, no, you're going home.
- 42:19Tommy Lee: She called up, she called down to our manager Wow, the big guy, the big boy.
- 42:25Tommy Lee: And he said tell him to come down.
- 42:26Tommy Lee: I went downstairs, went into his office.
- 42:29Tommy Lee: He said this is what's going to happen.
- 42:30Tommy Lee: You're going to go home and you're going to take the rest of the week off and then you call me when you're ready to come back.
- 42:37Tommy Lee: That's right, that's how it works.
- 42:39Tommy Lee: Never had I could have taken a whole week off, right, but it was like so I had a couple of weekdays and then the weekend off to regroup and I called him.
- 42:51Tommy Lee: And I called him at home because I had his home phone number and I said I'm ready to come back to work.
- 42:55Tommy Lee: And it's the little things like that that you do for people that people appreciate.
- 43:01Tommy Lee: And that was one of the most important lessons that I learned in my career and that's why I said to my boss listen, her cousin just died of a massive heart attack at 54 years old.
- 43:13Tommy Lee: He went to sleep and never woke up.
- 43:15Tommy Lee: I know it's not immediate family, but let's cut some slack here.
- 43:20Tony D.: Right, you know what the job gave you.
- 43:21Tony D.: The job gave you respect.
- 43:23Tommy Lee: Going back to what you said, respect.
- 43:27Carmen Lezeth: Stephen said I've seen my manager cry at work from the stress of hire bosses.
- 43:31Tony D.: That makes sense when I worked at my company.
- 43:33Carmen Lezeth: I cried in my office almost every day, every day, and my assistants would come in and they would be like, can we get you anything?
- 43:41Carmen Lezeth: They were so stressed because I was like a basket case.
- 43:45Carmen Lezeth: I actually ended up going to the hospital.
- 43:47Carmen Lezeth: This was that brand new school, I don't even mind mentioning it.
- 43:49Carmen Lezeth: We were right at the beginning of becoming really, really big and I ended up having, I didn't know.
- 43:56Carmen Lezeth: Ben walked into the office.
- 43:57Carmen Lezeth: He was one of the designers at the time creative directors and he was like what's wrong with your face?
- 44:02Carmen Lezeth: And I had this whole side of my face was like hanging down.
- 44:06Tony D.: I didn't know, stroke they got it, so they rushed to the hospital.
- 44:11Carmen Lezeth: It was palsy.
- 44:12Carmen Lezeth: What is it?
- 44:12Carmen Lezeth: How do you say?
- 44:13Rick Costa: it.
- 44:13Rick Costa: That was palsy.
- 44:14Rick Costa: Yeah, my mom's had it twice.
- 44:15Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, and here's the thing I should have quit.
- 44:17Carmen Lezeth: Then I stayed four more years and the stress just got crazy.
- 44:22Carmen Lezeth: I was flying back and forth.
- 44:23Carmen Lezeth: You know it was ridiculous, but yeah, I would cry in my office all the time.
- 44:29Tommy Lee: Another word I'd like to bring up.
- 44:30Tommy Lee: We talked a lot about respect tonight.
- 44:33Tommy Lee: Another word I'd like to bring up and we don't have to, because I know we're short on time, but maybe the next time Compassion.
- 44:41Tommy Lee: Compassion for each other, human beings, people in general, compassion for our elders, compassion for younger people coming up Ooh, that's a good one.
- 44:51Carmen Lezeth: Can we talk about that?
- 44:52Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, there needs to be Compassion for younger people.
- 44:55Tony D.: Put it on the list.
- 44:56Tony D.: It needs to be mutual.
- 44:57Tony D.: It needs to be mutual between both sides, 100%.
- 45:02Carmen Lezeth: But does it.
- 45:03Carmen Lezeth: I mean you can't expect it to always be mutual.
- 45:05Carmen Lezeth: You have to be the person to do it so that other people will start to learn to do it.
- 45:11Carmen Lezeth: It's not going to be mutual because people are not doing it.
- 45:15Tommy Lee: But don't we always?
- 45:15Tommy Lee: Go back to saying the same thing that if you want to be respected, you have to earn respect and you have to give respect.
- 45:23Tommy Lee: Yes, mutual, Is that what you're saying?
- 45:27Tony D.: Yes, sir.
- 45:29Carmen Lezeth: OK, ok, I'm going to say it this way, like if I don't know you, because nine times out of 10 when I walk into an office, I don't know anybody there I'm going to respect you.
- 45:39Carmen Lezeth: I don't need you to earn it.
- 45:41Carmen Lezeth: I respect you because you are a human being, but you will lose it very quickly if you choose to act like an asshole, and that's where it gets a little bit harder.
- 45:56Carmen Lezeth: That's what I'm saying.
- 45:57Carmen Lezeth: Like sometimes you do have to then turn around and be compassionate anyways.
- 46:03Carmen Lezeth: Like I might not have respect.
- 46:04Carmen Lezeth: The reason why I bring this up is I'm having an issue right now with a certain person.
- 46:08Carmen Lezeth: I have compassion for their situation, but I have no respect for them whatsoever.
- 46:14Carmen Lezeth: Like I'm done.
- 46:15Carmen Lezeth: I'm done with them.
- 46:16Carmen Lezeth: I'm done.
- 46:18Tommy Lee: Thanks, impassion.
- 46:19Tommy Lee: I respect our two different.
- 46:20Tommy Lee: And that's why I said that's another subject to talk about, to bring up at the next.
- 46:26Carmen Lezeth: Look at the sassy, carmen will come up.
- 46:29Carmen Lezeth: Hey, you know.
- 46:32Tommy Lee: Carmen knows that I can get ghetto.
- 46:36Carmen Lezeth: She didn't say ghetto, she said sassy.
- 46:39Tommy Lee: I know.
- 46:39Tommy Lee: But I'm saying you know, I can get ghetto, it is ghetto, it is.
- 46:44Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to say that sassy.
- 46:45Carmen Lezeth: I read in a book Compassion for Others is the key to joy.
- 46:50Tony D.: I like that.
- 46:51Tony D.: I like that.
- 46:54Tommy Lee: I like that.
- 46:54Tommy Lee: That's a nice motto right there.
- 46:59Carmen Lezeth: I'm writing a book on all about the joy, so I'm just going to keep quiet.
- 47:02Carmen Lezeth: I just can't wait for that.
- 47:05Carmen Lezeth: Wait, what's that?
- 47:06Carmen Lezeth: What's that?
- 47:07Carmen Lezeth: Thumbs up thing.
- 47:08Tommy Lee: She liked what I said.
- 47:09Tommy Lee: She agrees with me.
- 47:10Tony D.: I like what you come up with.
- 47:12Carmen Lezeth: I've never seen that before.
- 47:13Carmen Lezeth: Who did that?
- 47:14Tony D.: I've seen it happen there, oh yeah.
- 47:16Tommy Lee: They're like little emojis.
- 47:18Carmen Lezeth: OK, I'm so confused right now.
- 47:20Carmen Lezeth: Rick, have you seen that before?
- 47:23Rick Costa: I didn't even see it now.
- 47:24Rick Costa: No, I didn't see anything, so on.
- 47:26Carmen Lezeth: Tommy's screen.
- 47:27Carmen Lezeth: Somebody did like a bubble and a thumbs up and I've never seen that.
- 47:31Carmen Lezeth: I guess nobody likes us, rick, that's why I like Tommy.
- 47:34Carmen Lezeth: And when we say they, we know, it's just you know.
- 47:38Tony D.: I've been on that podcast before and it's popped up in the rooms I was on on the other app too.
- 47:42Tony D.: That's something new that everybody's computers are.
- 47:45Carmen Lezeth: I don't get it, but is it restream or is it YouTube?
- 47:48Carmen Lezeth: That's my question.
- 47:50Tony D.: I've seen it on Tantino.
- 47:52Carmen Lezeth: Oh, so it's probably YouTube.
- 47:54Carmen Lezeth: It's probably YouTube then.
- 47:55Tommy Lee: Yeah, but we're on restream though, so we don't think that I know you can do it on Zoom, and there's another platform you can do it on too, because we used to do it at work all the time, maybe.
- 48:06Rick Costa: I just did it too Sick of laughing.
- 48:08Rick Costa: We interrupted this whole thing for some pop up screen stuff, Because it was cool, I know it was Cynthia.
- 48:18Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm just kidding with you, Cynthia.
- 48:20Carmen Lezeth: Cynthia's married and Tommy is lovely, but Tommy's not going to love us.
- 48:26Carmen Lezeth: Cynthia and I go talk later.
- 48:33Tommy Lee: I'm bleeding.
- 48:34Tommy Lee: I'm bleeding.
- 48:36Carmen Lezeth: I'm bleeding the fives.
- 48:37Carmen Lezeth: I'm bleeding the fives.
- 48:39Carmen Lezeth: I'm bleeding the fives Child.
- 48:41Carmen Lezeth: We all tried when we were younger.
- 48:42Carmen Lezeth: We knew it was over, there was no possibility.
- 48:48Rick Costa: When Stephen said compassion for others is a key to joy, it makes me think of another very famous person that said it's better to give than to receive.
- 48:56Carmen Lezeth: Don't even try to put Jesus all over you.
- 48:59Carmen Lezeth: In your sly, motherfucking way.
- 49:01Carmen Lezeth: I didn't even say his name, you did.
- 49:03Carmen Lezeth: Don't even try to sneak in his little Jesus shit.
- 49:07Carmen Lezeth: Keeps him $500,000.
- 49:09Rick Costa: I tried too.
- 49:12Carmen Lezeth: I don't want it because it's the truth, not alot, but I learned from your moron right, gotta tuvoeder pit depends upon what being is.
- 49:28Carmen Lezeth: I actually think we need to all get better about receiving.
- 49:35Carmen Lezeth: You need to be able to receive in grace.
- 49:40Carmen Lezeth: You know how insulting it is when you try.
- 49:42Carmen Lezeth: Imagine you get a gift together.
- 49:45Carmen Lezeth: You really put your heart and soul into it because you wanna help somebody, you wanna give somebody something, and you give it to them and they're like oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 49:54Carmen Lezeth: Thank you.
- 49:54Carmen Lezeth: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 49:55Carmen Lezeth: And they have to fight.
- 49:56Tony D.: I'm gonna write this one down for the next topic too.
- 49:58Tony D.: Write this one down as well, for the next question.
- 50:00Carmen Lezeth: Why are you trying to make me write this down?
- 50:01Tony D.: No, no, no, no, no, because you brought up a good point.
- 50:03Tony D.: It's gonna be a great conversation.
- 50:05Carmen Lezeth: But I do think it.
- 50:06Carmen Lezeth: Well, I don't know.
- 50:07Tommy Lee: Oh, no, no, no, I see where Tony's going with this.
- 50:09Carmen Lezeth: I'm on board with you.
- 50:10Carmen Lezeth: Why, tell me now we should have a minute.
- 50:12Tony D.: Nope, write it down, you don't have time, that's it next week Polished, mm-mm.
- 50:17Tommy Lee: Polished, even though it's going.
- 50:19Tommy Lee: Tony, cheers to you Even though I'm drinking water, but cheers to you, we're on the same page.
- 50:24Tony D.: I will admit it's the way we made tonight.
- 50:26Tony D.: That's gonna be a great broadcast when we bring up a conversation.
- 50:29Tony D.: Same way.
- 50:29Tony D.: Tony's been honest and it will correlate.
- 50:32Tony D.: You will enjoy it.
- 50:33Tony D.: See, we're working with you.
- 50:33Tony D.: We're working with you.
- 50:35Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I just feel like y'all hurting my feelings and oh.
- 50:39Tony D.: We got you, don't you worry about it?
- 50:41Carmen Lezeth: No, no, all right.
- 50:42Carmen Lezeth: Well, I don't know, rick, are you in on this too with the boys?
- 50:44Rick Costa: No, I was gonna say that I freely admit I'm maybe one of those that has a little bit of an issue of receiving and I'm like just be happy, enjoy it, stop feeling guilty or whatever it is I'm thinking of.
- 50:57Carmen Lezeth: I tell you where it comes from for me, Cause this will put a twist on it.
- 51:01Carmen Lezeth: This is gonna put a twist on it, and I don't mean to make anyone feel bad.
- 51:04Carmen Lezeth: The reason why I believe this in my heart of hearts is my mother died at 49 because she didn't ask for help, and I find it hard to believe, even though I don't remember her that well at all.
- 51:16Carmen Lezeth: I'm not gonna sit and pretend like I remember whatever.
- 51:18Carmen Lezeth: I cannot believe.
- 51:20Carmen Lezeth: If she was even one-tenth of the woman that people told me she was, that I believe that she was just even one-tenth that there weren't people around trying to say to her let me help you, Let me help you out with this, Let me do something for you.
- 51:36Carmen Lezeth: Is there something I'm not saying?
- 51:37Carmen Lezeth: There's probably a lot of people.
- 51:38Carmen Lezeth: It was a different time, right, it was a different time.
- 51:40Carmen Lezeth: But when you grow up knowing that your mother died of a really stupid, stupid issue she died of a cardiac arrest due to asthma, something that even back then could have been taken care of and when you realize someone died so young, you start to rethink.
- 52:00Carmen Lezeth: And also, and again and you know me, I'm never gonna prop up my book my whole book is about people reaching out and seeing a little kid and saying let me help you, and me saying, yes, I mean begrudgingly as a kid, but still like you know what I mean.
- 52:20Carmen Lezeth: You have to be able to receive you have to.
- 52:22Tommy Lee: Can I tell you something that I don't think you know?
- 52:24Tommy Lee: Oh God, Okay, go ahead.
- 52:26Tommy Lee: You know Michael.
- 52:29Tommy Lee: You know Michael Bonanno, right?
- 52:31Carmen Lezeth: Okay, let's go with yes.
- 52:33Tommy Lee: Okay, I'm actually with him in St Anthony's.
- 52:36Tommy Lee: He taught St Anthony's, he taught Abelarrows Michael.
- 52:41Tommy Lee: He's good friends with Jerry Okay go ahead.
- 52:43Tommy Lee: He's also a school teacher.
- 52:46Tommy Lee: Okay, for summer reading, he gave all his students your book to read.
- 52:51Rick Costa: No way Wow.
- 52:54Tommy Lee: Yes, he did.
- 52:54Tommy Lee: Wow, I should know who he is.
- 52:58Carmen Lezeth: And he said I know you need Facebook.
- 53:02Tommy Lee: I need to see a face.
- 53:03Carmen Lezeth: We have this comment.
- 53:04Carmen Lezeth: I need a name.
- 53:05Tommy Lee: I have a picture of him somewhere.
- 53:06Tommy Lee: I have a picture of him somewhere, I'll show you.
- 53:08Rick Costa: That's cool, he's not on Facebook.
- 53:10Tommy Lee: He is on Facebook actually.
- 53:12Carmen Lezeth: Why didn't he tell me?
- 53:13Carmen Lezeth: You know, I was doing speaking events in Boston before the pandemic.
- 53:17Carmen Lezeth: I was so excited I did three.
- 53:19Tommy Lee: Yeah, don't recall my phone ringing.
- 53:21Carmen Lezeth: Hmm, no, no, I, oh my God, oh my God.
- 53:26Rick Costa: He said no, no.
- 53:28Carmen Lezeth: I went to do speaking events because of my book and then the pandemic hit.
- 53:32Carmen Lezeth: But I did not know that.
- 53:34Tommy Lee: I didn't know that.
- 53:35Tommy Lee: I know I didn't think you knew it, but I was like you know what I feel like I need to tell her.
- 53:40Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, it's great that you told me live and.
- 53:43Tommy Lee: I don't know, I totally do you should have told me live, but I have no idea who it is I want you to think of it, and I know you're not going to think about this, because when they came back and he, you know, discussed it with his class, how many lives do you think you may have changed?
- 54:01Tony D.: She's about to blush.
- 54:01Tony D.: I can't wait.
- 54:02Tony D.: She's about to blush.
- 54:03Tony D.: Think about that.
- 54:07Rick Costa: It's like that movie, it's a wonderful life.
- 54:08Rick Costa: You have no idea, carmen, can I tell you something?
- 54:11Carmen Lezeth: Oh my gosh.
- 54:12Tony D.: Your book is going to do what you told us to end in this one it's going to be forever.
- 54:16Carmen Lezeth: There's this new thing here on this program where I can turn around and I can block you all off easily.
- 54:23Rick Costa: Look at Cynthia.
- 54:25Tony D.: I didn't see that in for a car.
- 54:26Tony D.: You didn't see this one.
- 54:29Tony D.: You were the one who told me to be careful how I come across and how I be careful to project myself and look at the impact you had that you didn't even then realize.
- 54:39Tony D.: Go ahead and cry.
- 54:39Tony D.: What is it you want me to do?
- 54:41Tony D.: Go ahead and cry.
- 54:43Carmen Lezeth: No, wait, wait, wait.
- 54:43Carmen Lezeth: Here's the thing.
- 54:43Carmen Lezeth: What is it that you?
- 54:45Carmen Lezeth: I didn't know that Michael did that.
- 54:47Carmen Lezeth: I feel bad.
- 54:48Carmen Lezeth: I don't remember who he is, so I need you know.
- 54:50Carmen Lezeth: I talked to Tommy on the phone, which you could have shared this on the phone with me, but that's OK.
- 54:55Tony D.: Good job, Tommy Cheers.
- 54:57Carmen Lezeth: Just saying like I need you know, there's a lot of people that I don't remember, for a very real reason.
- 55:05Carmen Lezeth: There was a lot of people back then that were around us and watching us perform and working with us and that we were part of groups with.
- 55:16Carmen Lezeth: Like I don't remember everyone.
- 55:18Carmen Lezeth: You were young and I was young, I was really young.
- 55:21Carmen Lezeth: So I'm feeling bad, like here's the thing I don't want to be.
- 55:25Carmen Lezeth: Of course, I know how many people's lives yeah, I'm not going to say that I know how many people have affected me and helped change my life and my hope and my try and my goal every day is to be the best person I possibly can and give back and pay it forward Because and that's what we're talking about, right?
- 55:46Carmen Lezeth: People were so compassionate about me.
- 55:49Carmen Lezeth: These are blue-collar working people who didn't have extra money, who didn't have extra presents at Christmas, who didn't have extra food to give away, who didn't have extra money to go buy clothes or costumes, makeup, all the things, all the dance shoes, all the things we needed, leotards, whatever and you know what?
- 56:09Carmen Lezeth: All these people Lara Wall is a great example.
- 56:12Carmen Lezeth: Lara Wall's family.
- 56:14Tommy Lee: Yeah.
- 56:15Carmen Lezeth: Turned around and they saw a kid and turned around and said you know what?
- 56:19Carmen Lezeth: We're going to make sure she has a Christmas.
- 56:21Carmen Lezeth: We're going to make sure she has a couch.
- 56:23Carmen Lezeth: They didn't have an extra guest house or guest room or a pool house and I am always going to be grateful for that.
- 56:32Tommy Lee: They were always known as the walls and they will always be known as the walls.
- 56:37Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, the walls.
- 56:38Tommy Lee: They were always known as the walls, and I was circle.
- 56:40Tommy Lee: Everybody says, oh yeah, the wall, oh yeah, you know they were amazing.
- 56:45Tommy Lee: Everybody knows the walls.
- 56:48Carmen Lezeth: But I mean, I will receive compliments and that's kind of a different thing like what you guys are.
- 56:53Carmen Lezeth: It's not that I get bashful about my book.
- 56:57Carmen Lezeth: The reason why I don't push my book is because for me it wasn't meant to be a book, so in a way it feels like a fraud.
- 57:04Carmen Lezeth: I tried to explain this to Rick and Rick you understood what I was trying to say.
- 57:07Carmen Lezeth: I wrote the book, I wrote letters to individual people, someone told me to make it into a book and so I did.
- 57:14Carmen Lezeth: Gotcha.
- 57:16Tony D.: But it wasn't an intention.
- 57:18Carmen Lezeth: It was not, jerry.
- 57:20Rick Costa: It was a thank you to the people in your life.
- 57:22Tommy Lee: Jared.
- 57:22Tommy Lee: I'm sorry, I didn't say Jerry, I said Jared.
- 57:28Carmen Lezeth: Oh, that's the Names will be changed to protect, right.
- 57:31Carmen Lezeth: I don't remember everybody's names I changed it to, but Jerry is Jared right, is it Jared yeah?
- 57:37Carmen Lezeth: Now I had to change names really fast because legally I wasn't going to go finding everybody to do it.
- 57:44Tommy Lee: When I read that chapter I was like she's talking about Jared.
- 57:47Tommy Lee: I know she's talking about it.
- 57:49Carmen Lezeth: People who knew, knew their chapters, or the people that we were talking about.
- 57:53Rick Costa: Change names, change genders.
- 57:55Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, well, no, that was just one person who's gender.
- 57:58Carmen Lezeth: And then she was mad at me because I did.
- 58:02Carmen Lezeth: I'm like you want to be anonymous all the time and now I do it in the book and you get mad.
- 58:07Carmen Lezeth: So I was like I can't win either way.
- 58:09Carmen Lezeth: And actually I just spoke to her the other day.
- 58:10Rick Costa: That was so funny, but If I understand correctly, it was more like thank you to all the people that were there for me and help me out.
- 58:17Rick Costa: That's really what the book was about.
- 58:19Tommy Lee: Yes, that's what I got out of it.
- 58:21Carmen Lezeth: Yes, that's what the book was about 100%.
- 58:24Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, and I'm writing the second book to Canela and have a name for it Not going to tell you, but I do have a great name for it and surprise us.
- 58:32Carmen Lezeth: I like surprises, yeah.
- 58:33Carmen Lezeth: And then it's a much more intentional story and it's about what happens next.
- 58:38Carmen Lezeth: And again, see, now, if I had a lot of money, that's what I would spend my time doing for the next three months.
- 58:45Carmen Lezeth: Like if I had enough money to cover for the next three to six months my rent, my food, whatever, like what I'm making now, and I could leave my clients.
- 58:53Carmen Lezeth: I would, just, I would.
- 58:55Carmen Lezeth: I would have two shows a week.
- 58:56Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 58:57Carmen Lezeth: I would hook us up doing what we're doing.
- 58:59Carmen Lezeth: I would turn around and then just work on these two books the All About the Joy book and the continuation to Canela, because it's so hard to do it when you're working 40, 50 hours a week?
- 59:09Carmen Lezeth: Right, and that's what money gives you is choices and opportunity.
- 59:14Carmen Lezeth: You know it's not going to make me happy, but four day weekend, at least for some people.
- 59:20Rick Costa: You know Thanksgiving we had to off whatever.
- 59:22Rick Costa: I was like I'm able to sleep.
- 59:24Rick Costa: Now more I, my mind is in a better place, my creative juices were flowing when I'm like, oh wow, I got all these ideas I didn't even realize I didn't have because I was so tired of the time.
- 59:35Tony D.: I'm not the creative juices flowing.
- 59:36Tony D.: Even when I do my broadcast, I try to do until I can feel a comfortable vibe to put out there what I want to put out there.
- 59:43Tony D.: And I've always told, I've always said that before.
- 59:45Tony D.: So I get that entirely.
- 59:46Tony D.: You don't have a relaxation moment and, rick, I know you got more going on to just work on this.
- 59:51Tony D.: So the trip that you have going on to work just being on the issue no disrespect, you know what I'm saying.
- 59:57Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, oh, are we hiding something?
- 59:59Tony D.: Well, we don't put a lot out there, but we know what's going on.
- 1:00:01Tony D.: You and I both know what's going on, Rick.
- 1:00:03Tony D.: I'll start a work.
- 1:00:04Carmen Lezeth: I'm so confusion.
- 1:00:05Carmen Lezeth: What are we talking about?
- 1:00:06Carmen Lezeth: His mom keep it offline.
- 1:00:09Tony D.: Thank you, that's all.
- 1:00:10Tony D.: He talks about it all the time.
- 1:00:13Tony D.: I let him talk about it.
- 1:00:15Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I'm so sorry.
- 1:00:16Carmen Lezeth: Is that what we're talking about, not the time of the place?
- 1:00:19Tony D.: The money.
- 1:00:20Carmen Lezeth: He talks about it all the time.
- 1:00:22Tony D.: So in my opinion, yes oh.
- 1:00:24Carmen Lezeth: OK, ok, tommy Rick takes care of his mom.
- 1:00:27Carmen Lezeth: We all know.
- 1:00:28Tommy Lee: Oh.
- 1:00:29Carmen Lezeth: I know that Now, I do know.
- 1:00:30Carmen Lezeth: I know.
- 1:00:31Carmen Lezeth: That's why I'm confused.
- 1:00:32Carmen Lezeth: Why are we keeping it?
- 1:00:33Tommy Lee: Well, you know my respect level for Rick just went up 10 more points yeah.
- 1:00:38Tommy Lee: I have a lot of respect for a son who takes care of his mother because, believe me, I did it for many, many years.
- 1:00:45Carmen Lezeth: I know what it's like.
- 1:00:46Carmen Lezeth: It's not hiding a different thing.
- 1:00:49Rick Costa: No, no, no, no.
- 1:00:49Rick Costa: And dementia is no joke.
- 1:00:52Tommy Lee: Oh, that's even worse.
- 1:00:53Carmen Lezeth: Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:55Carmen Lezeth: Now I feel bad, like I feel like I have a little club in shit and you guys don't like have all these secrets, like doing very alone.
- 1:01:04Tony D.: We have broken into the world, just stop.
- 1:01:08Carmen Lezeth: I feel like I made connections with people and now I'm being left out of the group.
- 1:01:13Carmen Lezeth: No, all right, we're going to jump off because you have another show, tony D.
- 1:01:20Tony D.: I do not.
- 1:01:22Carmen Lezeth: Yes, it's going to be on at 7 15.
- 1:01:24Tony D.: Just have the message.
- 1:01:24Rick Costa: You won't be able.
- 1:01:26Carmen Lezeth: Oh, so we're going for another hour Just we are not going to be on for another hour.
- 1:01:30Tommy Lee: I have to go.
- 1:01:33Tony D.: Yes, he has to do so.
- 1:01:34Tony D.: He said he won't be able to make it, so I need to you know, I just have to do the rest yes.
- 1:01:41Carmen Lezeth: Oh, baby.
- 1:01:41Carmen Lezeth: Ok, no, you don't.
- 1:01:43Rick Costa: Are we in the book?
- 1:01:45Carmen Lezeth: Are we in the book of volume number two?
- 1:01:49Tony D.: Oh hell to the world I would be in it.
- 1:01:53Carmen Lezeth: Hell to the no Lord.
- 1:01:55Carmen Lezeth: I'm happy people.
- 1:01:56Carmen Lezeth: That's a whole book all by itself.
- 1:01:59Tony D.: Yes, it's a movie.
- 1:02:00Tony D.: It's a movie, trust me.
- 1:02:01Rick Costa: Yeah, it's the DVD extra specials that come out later.
- 1:02:06Carmen Lezeth: So before we go, let me just say a few things, first of all, to my guests.
- 1:02:09Carmen Lezeth: Thank you so much.
- 1:02:10Carmen Lezeth: My cohosts, I adore you.
- 1:02:12Carmen Lezeth: Rick Costa, tony D Thank you.
- 1:02:15Carmen Lezeth: Tony D is going to be on the show on a regular basis, right?
