- 0:00Speaker 1: Coming up on relatable's baddies book club i'm telling you
- 0:02Speaker 1: man i want tamlin to come back and be the
- 0:05Speaker 1: main character again i have a shirt that says i
- 0:07Speaker 1: love tamlin.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Welcome to relatable's baddies book club where we will embark
- 0:11Speaker 2: on a journey reading some of the finest pieces of
- 0:13Speaker 2: literature you have ever laid eyes or is if.
- 0:16Speaker 1: That's your preferred way to consume a book on oh
- 0:18Speaker 1: no no no no a.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Court of splintered harmony oh i don't know is that
- 0:25Speaker 2: the second one That's the first one. It says October 27th, 2026.
- 0:29Speaker 1: And the other one's A Court of Forgotten Melody.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Yeah. How do you feel? I don't know. If I'm
- 0:36Speaker 2: being honest with you, I guess like A Court of
- 0:38Speaker 2: Thorns and Roses. It's cool. It's cool. A Court of
- 0:44Speaker 2: Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, A
- 0:47Speaker 2: Court of Wings and Ruin. So sick. And then we
- 0:52Speaker 2: both didn't like the little novella, A Court of Frost
- 0:54Speaker 2: and Starlight. And then A Court of Silver Flames. That's
- 0:57Speaker 2: a sick name. A Court of Splintered Harmony.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Splintered. I feel like the word splintered is splintering the book.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:06Speaker 1: It's creating a divide almost. I feel like it doesn't work.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Harmony works.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 1: It's like... No, no.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Think about it. Splintered Harmony. Maybe obviously something huge is
- 1:14Speaker 2: going to happen. We've had a break.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I'm now a genius. Do you reckon that's an oxymoron?
- 1:20Speaker 2: What's an oxymoron?
- 1:22Speaker 1: Two words next to each other that have polar opposites.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Is that what an oxymoron is?
- 1:27Speaker 1: I think so.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Well, I'm going to look it up now. I wouldn't
- 1:34Speaker 2: have said that's what an oxymoron is. No, but you
- 1:35Speaker 2: might be right. Oxymoron meaning... Oh, yeah. There you go.
- 1:44Speaker 2: An oxymoron is a figure of speech that puts two
- 1:45Speaker 2: opposites or contradictory words together in a single phrase. That's
- 1:49Speaker 2: an oxymoron.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Splinted and harmed.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I don't know. Anyway.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Obviously there's going to be some shit going down in
- 1:56Speaker 2: the fucking night.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Yeah. So we'll get into like our predictions, our thoughts
- 2:01Speaker 1: and feelings. This is just chatting everything about ACOTAR. How about,
- 2:05Speaker 1: where did we leave things? What do you remember?
- 2:10Speaker 2: From ACOTAR?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Well, Nesta and Cassian are married.
- 2:13Speaker 1: They've been fucking heaps.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Understatement of the century.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Nesta's now part of, what were they called again?
- 2:19Speaker 2: The three gals? The Valkyries, bro. The Valkyries. That was it. Yeah.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Also remember down here. So, Number one says, so A
- 2:27Speaker 2: Chord of Splinted Harmony is the Valkyrie cycle movement one.
- 2:32Speaker 2: And then the next one in January is A Chord
- 2:34Speaker 2: of Forgotten Melody and it's the Valkyrie cycle movements two
- 2:37Speaker 2: and three.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Yeah, so I've done a little bit of research and
- 2:39Speaker 1: apparently it's going to be a lot of war and
- 2:42Speaker 1: they're predicting it's with Koshi from the lake or it's
- 2:48Speaker 1: stuck there.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember Koshi.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Which is good because I feel like, Something about ACOTAR
- 2:55Speaker 1: and me really clicks, and I don't know if it's
- 2:56Speaker 1: to do with when there's a war. I'm really opposed
- 2:59Speaker 1: against when everyone dies and they're bringing them back to life.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I hate that.
- 3:02Speaker 1: But something to do with the war, I'm so engaged.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I'm still struggling to get into Throne of Glass, and
- 3:06Speaker 1: I haven't even tried Crescent City as much. For some reason,
- 3:09Speaker 1: ACOTAR just gripped me.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I wonder if it's because it's the first one.
- 3:13Speaker 1: It had me by a chokehold from the start, and
- 3:15Speaker 1: I feel like it has something to.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Do with war a little bit.
- 3:16Speaker 1: It's giving... Lord of the Rings slightly, which I love.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Like the war, there's always some type of war and
- 3:22Speaker 1: they're fighting against someone, which is good.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Maybe the premise of Akatar is just so sick, maybe.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I don't even know. But it does have what Luke said.
- 3:31Speaker 2: It does have like this soft magic system where sometimes something,
- 3:34Speaker 2: a new magical item can kind of answer all the problems.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I feel like I'm a soft guy.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I'd agree, bro.
- 3:44Speaker 1: But yeah, you would know too. You make me soft.
- 3:49Speaker 1: But enough of that. I wanted to talk about all
- 3:52Speaker 1: the baddies. It's actually starting to get on my nerve.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Keep saying that we have to finish Throne of Glass
- 3:58Speaker 1: and Crescent City before reading the next two Akitas.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm trying.
- 4:04Speaker 1: And I don't see it. I reckon, I'm sorry, baddies.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I think you're wrong.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Really?
- 4:09Speaker 1: I think you're completely wrong. I don't see why any
- 4:12Speaker 1: author would do that. This whole series has had nothing
- 4:15Speaker 1: to do with the other two series. And now these
- 4:18Speaker 1: last two books are going to combine the magic systems
- 4:19Speaker 1: in some way.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good point. She would only be doing
- 4:23Speaker 2: it for the fans.
- 4:24Speaker 1: That's what I mean. But it also kind of makes
- 4:27Speaker 1: the previous book slightly obsolete because now she's jumping between everything.
- 4:30Speaker 2: True. You know what, though? There's a common theme in
- 4:33Speaker 2: her books where it makes sense for it if anything
- 4:36Speaker 2: were to happen. So in... So you know how in Akatar,
- 4:39Speaker 2: oh shit. You know how in Akatar, Amren was like
- 4:43Speaker 2: this all powerful fucking omnipotent being. Yep. And she didn't
- 4:49Speaker 2: even have like a physical form. And she said she
- 4:52Speaker 2: remembers just like being on her planet and fighting in
- 4:56Speaker 2: a war. And then there was this rift that opened
- 4:58Speaker 2: up in the sky and she just went to it. Yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 2: You remember that? Yeah, I do. So there's, there's a rift, right?
- 5:04Speaker 2: And so she came into the Akatar world. I forget what, Prithian, right?
- 5:10Speaker 2: She came into Prithian and she came through a rift.
- 5:16Speaker 2: So keep that in mind. Throne of Glass, right? We
- 5:21Speaker 2: know that there's a rift, like a fucking hole in
- 5:25Speaker 2: the fucking space-time continuum, whatever you want to call it,
- 5:29Speaker 2: that those demon people come through. And then the word
- 5:35Speaker 2: keys are the things that they use to close it
- 5:37Speaker 2: or whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So there's a lift there
- 5:39Speaker 2: as well.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Celanda was in like that tower.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Crescent City, bro. Listen up. Crescent City. There's
- 5:46Speaker 2: all this talk about. So in Crescent City, right? I believe.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So in Crescent City, there's humans. And then there's like
- 5:54Speaker 2: fey vampires. There's shapeshifters. There's angels. There's all these species, right?
- 6:01Speaker 2: And they live in the future world. They live in
- 6:03Speaker 2: like present day like you and I. They have phones, computers,
- 6:05Speaker 2: all that stuff. And- They always circle back to this time.
- 6:11Speaker 2: So everyone that's not human is called a Vanir. Their
- 6:15Speaker 2: species is Vanir. And they're like species that have power.
- 6:20Speaker 2: And they all came from a fucking rift in the
- 6:23Speaker 2: space-time continuum. Yeah, yeah. So I see that. So what
- 6:27Speaker 2: I'm saying is obviously these books need to at some
- 6:30Speaker 2: point have characters go through some sort of rift and
- 6:34Speaker 2: meet up to fight maybe someone that's like opening these rifts.
- 6:40Speaker 1: So I see that and agree with you, but I
- 6:43Speaker 1: think there's not going to be this like version where
- 6:47Speaker 1: they all come together. It's just going to be a
- 6:48Speaker 1: mention of a rift. And then you're like, I won't
- 6:51Speaker 1: pick up on it if you didn't tell me that.
- 6:53Speaker 1: And I'll be like, read the book and it'll make
- 6:55Speaker 1: complete sense to me. And then you'll come and be like, oh,
- 6:57Speaker 1: that was from Crescent City. And I was like, that's cool.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 7:00Speaker 2: That's a good point. To be fair, think about this.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Kingdom of Ash is the last book in Throne of Glass.
- 7:06Speaker 2: So it's done.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:08Speaker 2: So it's like, there can't be that much of an overlap,
- 7:13Speaker 2: at least with Throne of Glass. The only two series
- 7:16Speaker 2: that can have a proper overlap is Crescent City and
- 7:19Speaker 2: Akatar because they're not finished series.
- 7:22Speaker 1: And I just feel like, to me, you know when
- 7:24Speaker 1: you and I, we used to live together and we
- 7:25Speaker 1: would sit down. I'm comparing it to Lord of the
- 7:27Speaker 1: Rings a lot because I know Sarah J Maas, for one,
- 7:29Speaker 1: loves Lord of the Rings.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 1: But also, I feel like there's a lot of crossover.
- 7:32Speaker 1: We would sit down and like, I love Lord of
- 7:34Speaker 1: the Rings. And you could say you love it more,
- 7:36Speaker 1: but you get more into the story and you'll say like, oh, that's,
- 7:39Speaker 1: Gandalf did this with Sauron before this. And you'll say something.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I'll be like, oh, that's cool. But I still understand
- 7:45Speaker 1: the storyline completely.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Like how, like how, so, you know, in, I've told,
- 7:52Speaker 2: I might've said this on the pod, how I told
- 7:54Speaker 2: you that from Gandalf figuring out that Frodo was left
- 8:01Speaker 2: a ring and then him going and figuring out what
- 8:05Speaker 2: that ring was. And then coming back to tell Frodo,
- 8:09Speaker 2: that wasn't just a couple of weeks. That was like
- 8:10Speaker 2: 17 years or some shit. Yeah.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I remember you telling me that. I'm like, that's mind
- 8:14Speaker 1: boggling at the time. Like you just, It's cohesive to
- 8:17Speaker 1: my brain anyway. So I think like I do agree
- 8:20Speaker 1: with you and the baddies that there's going to be
- 8:21Speaker 1: a connection, but I don't think it's important at all.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I am going to say that I agree with you.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I don't think it's going to make anything better than
- 8:33Speaker 2: it already has been and will be.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Because I don't think I'm reading into it way too much.
- 8:40Speaker 2: One. No, that's fair. That's fair.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Sarah J Maas would do that because it makes the
- 8:44Speaker 1: rest of ACOTAR kind of obsolete. But the only reason
- 8:46Speaker 1: she would do it is to get more people to
- 8:48Speaker 1: read Crescent City because ACOTAR is more popular. And so
- 8:52Speaker 1: if there's a tiny little bit of a connection, she's like, oh,
- 8:55Speaker 1: if you want, like she'll go on a pod and
- 8:56Speaker 1: be like, if you want a bit more depth, go
- 8:57Speaker 1: read Crescent City. And that's why that made sense. And
- 8:59Speaker 1: that's the only reason is to promote her other books.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Fair, fair, fair, fair. Crescent City. So I'm 70% through
- 9:09Speaker 2: the first book. Yeah, yeah.
- 9:11Speaker 1: How's the personal episode going with Crescent City on Patreon?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Bro, I've got to tell you, people say it's a
- 9:20Speaker 2: grind and it actually is.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Okay.
- 9:23Speaker 2: And it's not that it's a bad book. It's that,
- 9:26Speaker 2: so for instance, Air of Fire, Throwing a Glass, Air
- 9:31Speaker 2: of Fire. We will be recording that episode next week
- 9:35Speaker 2: to come out next Friday. So if you're hearing this,
- 9:37Speaker 2: it's coming out in one week. so well actually one
- 9:40Speaker 2: question i wanted to ask is because this is coming
- 9:43Speaker 2: out we're recording this the day before this comes out
- 9:45Speaker 2: baddies comment we've got like two options with the episode
- 9:50Speaker 2: for air of fire right we've got option one is
- 9:54Speaker 2: i i go and i do get the chat the
- 9:57Speaker 2: full chapter summaries and we do it the old way
- 10:00Speaker 2: where i do a little thing of like a little
- 10:02Speaker 2: chapter summary we talk how we feel chapter summary talk
- 10:05Speaker 2: easily a two-hour episode maybe longer.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Yeah they're gonna want that and the other option is
- 10:13Speaker 1: whatever else you suggest because.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I'm not gonna lie Not sure I want to do that,
- 10:17Speaker 2: but I'll do it. If that's what you really want,
- 10:19Speaker 2: I'll do it. Anyway, anyway, by the way, air of
- 10:22Speaker 2: fire was, I loved it.
- 10:24Speaker 1: What I'm going to do too, because I listened over
- 10:26Speaker 1: like a five week period traveling. I've actually got three
- 10:28Speaker 1: chapters left because of my flight. I was going to
- 10:30Speaker 1: finish it. I had a terrible flight, but I'm, I'm
- 10:33Speaker 1: finishing that on the weekend. The day before we record,
- 10:35Speaker 1: I'm going to read all the chapter summaries and then
- 10:37Speaker 1: jot down my thoughts and feelings for it. Yeah. And
- 10:39Speaker 1: I found a really good chapter summary already better than
- 10:43Speaker 1: the bookworm one that we usually use way better.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Wait, It's like on an app. I don't know if
- 10:48Speaker 2: this is super mean or something, but she's dyslexic.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Yeah, the person who writes Bookworm. To be fair, she
- 10:54Speaker 1: does every single book.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Yeah, she does well. And she does more series than
- 10:57Speaker 2: just Sarah J Maas. She does heaps of series.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Because Assassin's Blade, we couldn't find any other than Bookworm.
- 11:04Speaker 2: No, she didn't even do one. I couldn't find one
- 11:06Speaker 2: at all.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yeah, so comment below on that. And that's coming out
- 11:12Speaker 1: next week. And I know a lot of Baddie's asking
- 11:14Speaker 1: that and also asking when Jake's going to do Crescent
- 11:16Speaker 1: City on his own.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I don't know if I can do it.
- 11:18Speaker 1: True.
- 11:20Speaker 2: It's so fucking... So here's the thing, right? With Air
- 11:24Speaker 2: of Fire, it took me only... It took me less
- 11:29Speaker 2: than three weeks to read it, right? It took me
- 11:32Speaker 2: like two weeks to read it, actually. Anyway, so I couldn't...
- 11:36Speaker 2: So when I had spare time, I wanted to be
- 11:39Speaker 2: reading it. It was so... I fucking loved it. And
- 11:44Speaker 2: with Crescent City, I like it, right? But it's more
- 11:50Speaker 2: of a, fuck, when's this chapter going to end? Like, yeah.
- 11:54Speaker 2: And to be fair, though, the sexual tension that's building
- 11:57Speaker 2: up when, so the two main characters are Hunt Athala
- 12:02Speaker 2: and Bryce Quinlan. Yeah, yeah. When they fuck, let me...
- 12:08Speaker 2: fucking tell you.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Maybe just read you should just come with like the
- 12:11Speaker 1: fucking scene and read it.
- 12:12Speaker 2: To me actually maybe that's probably a good idea because
- 12:14Speaker 2: like i they've nearly fucked a couple times and they
- 12:17Speaker 2: haven't had sex yet and i know they're gonna have
- 12:20Speaker 2: to in this book but bro hunt he like full
- 12:24Speaker 2: has these.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Monologues such a fucking name hey he's an angel he's
- 12:28Speaker 1: hectic so hunt athala and he's an assassin how sick's
- 12:32Speaker 1: that um hunt.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Athala bro this guy he talks about just like wanking
- 12:36Speaker 2: in the shower thinking of Bryce. Shit.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Okay, interesting.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And she's mad cheeky, like, yeah,
- 12:45Speaker 2: it's hectic. She talks about getting, like, railed by two
- 12:48Speaker 2: people at the same time trying to get Hunt all
- 12:50Speaker 2: worked up.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Fuck, I missed it. I forgot about the sex scenes
- 12:52Speaker 1: because Akita had them. Like, Nessa and Cassie. I also
- 12:55Speaker 1: like Farrah and Reese's sex because I'm also a vanilla boy,
- 12:58Speaker 1: as the baddies know. That felt realistic to me. That
- 13:01Speaker 1: felt realistic to me. And then Ness and Cassian was
- 13:04Speaker 1: just like me dreaming or something of what I could
- 13:06Speaker 1: be one day. But the baddies also wanted to know,
- 13:10Speaker 1: do you reckon we have enough time to finish Throne
- 13:13Speaker 1: of Glass before these next two books come out in Nakata?
- 13:22Speaker 2: I don't think so. Not if we do 20 chapters
- 13:25Speaker 2: a week.
- 13:26Speaker 1: And I would prefer, do you reckon, because like you said,
- 13:29Speaker 1: I don't think Throwing a Glass has a connection to ACOTAR.
- 13:33Speaker 1: It's just going to be Crescent City.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Well, I don't mind. So ACOTAR comes out 27th of August.
- 13:43Speaker 2: We're doing a 28th of October. We have to do
- 13:46Speaker 2: it as soon as it comes out, I reckon. Like
- 13:48Speaker 2: no matter what. Yeah, I reckon. Oh. Okay, but here's
- 13:53Speaker 2: the thing. So I agree with you that it probably
- 13:56Speaker 2: isn't going to connect all that much, but I also
- 13:58Speaker 2: do want to finish The Throne of Glass.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Fuck. How many books? We have so many books left.
- 14:03Speaker 1: It's fucking impossible. We have four. In two months.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Four books. I could do it.
- 14:11Speaker 1: The thing with you is, you could 100% read it.
- 14:14Speaker 1: We could do it in a book club too. I
- 14:16Speaker 1: slow you down, but also doing this slows us down. True.
- 14:19Speaker 2: True. We'd have to do, so if it's two months,
- 14:24Speaker 2: we've got about eight weeks and we've got four books.
- 14:27Speaker 2: That means we'd have to do every week.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Two weeks a book.
- 14:33Speaker 2: So every week we'd have to read half of each book.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Half of each book. That's asking a lot from me.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Apparently they get thicker. It's at my house, my books.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Dude, they do get thicker.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Because if it was like the first three, I could
- 14:48Speaker 1: confidently say we'd Could do it, but they get pretty thick.
- 14:52Speaker 2: They get fucking huge.
- 14:53Speaker 1: That's another thing to comment below, Bayes. Do you think
- 14:56Speaker 1: if we go my way, are we playing a dangerous
- 14:58Speaker 1: game and we're going to miss out? They're all going
- 15:00Speaker 1: to say we're going to miss out on something, but
- 15:01Speaker 1: if we don't finish Throne of Glass.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Would it be justice? It's not going to ruin Throne
- 15:08Speaker 2: of Glass, is it? That's what I want to know.
- 15:09Speaker 1: No, I don't think so.
- 15:11Speaker 2: I think as long as it doesn't ruin Throne of
- 15:12Speaker 2: Glass and you read something, it's almost like maybe would
- 15:17Speaker 2: we be Is there going to be a point in
- 15:20Speaker 2: one of the ACOTAR books where we read something and
- 15:22Speaker 2: think like, oh, that's so weird how that just randomly
- 15:26Speaker 2: popped up out of nowhere. But then when we go
- 15:27Speaker 2: finish throwing a glass, we'll go, oh, that answers that
- 15:29Speaker 2: thing that we hated in ACOTAR.
- 15:32Speaker 1: True, exactly. My business brain is ticking as well because
- 15:37Speaker 1: I'd love just to do it in the order which
- 15:38Speaker 1: is right or whatever. It's going to be like the
- 15:40Speaker 1: summer I turn pretty. The book's always going to have relevancy.
- 15:42Speaker 1: But those first three weeks, four weeks... It's going to
- 15:47Speaker 1: be when content's going to pop off and then we'll
- 15:50Speaker 1: get more baddies listening, which is what we've got to
- 15:52Speaker 1: consider in our backend as well.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Think about it this way, right? The first book comes
- 15:55Speaker 2: out and then we, let's say, let's do this. The
- 16:00Speaker 2: first book six comes out, Akatar six comes out. We
- 16:05Speaker 2: give ourselves up until then we read Throne of Glass, right?
- 16:08Speaker 2: And we'll get through at least one. We could set
- 16:12Speaker 2: a challenge of ourselves to get through two more books
- 16:14Speaker 2: of Throne of Glass.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I can do that one a month.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Easy. Wait, hold up. Actually, the next book that we read.
- 16:20Speaker 2: So is the queen of shadows and it's going to be, Oh,
- 16:24Speaker 2: it's going to be so sick. But the next two
- 16:27Speaker 2: books after that are the tandem read. If we want
- 16:29Speaker 2: to do that.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Oh, there's a lot of, there's so many controversies within
- 16:34Speaker 1: reading because everyone's like, don't do it.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Do it.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Every, I can, every single day we get a DM
- 16:39Speaker 1: from at least one baddie saying either do it or
- 16:41Speaker 1: don't do it.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I know. I know. It's, it's crazy. um and look
- 16:48Speaker 2: no matter what we do i reckon it'll be it'll
- 16:50Speaker 2: be fine so i agree here's what we could do
- 16:55Speaker 2: let me think about it what i was going to
- 16:56Speaker 2: say is we get two more throne of glass out
- 16:59Speaker 2: of the way then akatar we give ourselves one month
- 17:02Speaker 2: to do akatar and then after after we finish that
- 17:06Speaker 2: we've got two more throne of glass to do before
- 17:08Speaker 2: the seventh akatar.
- 17:09Speaker 1: That's not a bad idea. When's the seventh one is
- 17:11Speaker 1: coming out?
- 17:13Speaker 2: 20-something of January.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Well, that's pretty doable.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Yeah. October, November.
- 17:17Speaker 1: That's two months to read the other two books. And
- 17:19Speaker 1: if we do a tandem, the only thing with that
- 17:21Speaker 1: is either we have to punch out the tandem or
- 17:23Speaker 1: we just stop the tandem halfway through. Shit.
- 17:27Speaker 2: The tandem will be a lot of reading.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Okay. Baddies, everyone comment below your thoughts and feelings. We'll
- 17:33Speaker 1: read all of them and then come with a way
- 17:36Speaker 1: to do this in the future.
- 17:37Speaker 2: But I reckon that I don't think it's going to
- 17:40Speaker 2: matter because I think I can predict what's going to
- 17:44Speaker 2: happen regardless from what the baddies have said in the
- 17:45Speaker 2: group channel. One of the baddies said that the reason
- 17:49Speaker 2: why it's important is because you learn more about the
- 17:51Speaker 2: origins of certain characters. And then you also learn about
- 17:55Speaker 2: the origins of the word gates. And that's the riffs
- 17:59Speaker 2: that I was talking about like 10 minutes ago. So
- 18:01Speaker 2: I just think that it's going to be the same,
- 18:04Speaker 2: like what I said 10 minutes ago, that someone... is
- 18:07Speaker 2: they all want to start like closing these rifts in
- 18:10Speaker 2: their worlds they're like what the hell and they want
- 18:14Speaker 2: to so they're going to start either walking through them
- 18:17Speaker 2: like going fuck it let's walk through this shit and
- 18:20Speaker 2: then the only thing that could happen is i reckon
- 18:23Speaker 2: whichever so akatar series or crescent city one of them's
- 18:26Speaker 2: going to end one of those series is going to
- 18:29Speaker 2: go longer than the other and at the end of
- 18:32Speaker 2: whichever one goes longer than the other they're going to
- 18:34Speaker 2: pull characters from throne of glass and the other series
- 18:39Speaker 2: into their world via the rift and then go, you know,
- 18:44Speaker 2: top off the omnipotent being that's opening these rifts and
- 18:47Speaker 2: just toying with society. And, um, then they're going to
- 18:51Speaker 2: go live happily ever after.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Which would be sick, but also so confusing because it's
- 18:55Speaker 1: ha it has to be like the episode or the
- 18:58Speaker 1: movie of Harry Potter, how Hermione has, um, that pendant
- 19:02Speaker 1: that can stop time, and she goes to different classes,
- 19:04Speaker 1: and that's how she gets so smart, and she uses
- 19:06Speaker 1: it with Harry to, like, save Buckbeat.
- 19:07Speaker 2: And, like, that whole... Yes!
- 19:08Speaker 1: Because thrown a glass after ACOTAR, like, way after it,
- 19:13Speaker 1: and then when's Crescent City set?
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's, like, the future, isn't it? Well,
- 19:16Speaker 2: the thing is, is they're all... They're none of them...
- 19:18Speaker 2: Some people think they might be on the same planet,
- 19:20Speaker 2: but they're not. They're not on the same planet. They're
- 19:22Speaker 2: all on different planets in different universes or in the
- 19:24Speaker 2: same universe. I don't know. But, so, I think that
- 19:28Speaker 2: ACOTAR is... It doesn't matter when they're all set. They're
- 19:33Speaker 2: all at different points in their timeline, but they're all
- 19:35Speaker 2: from different universes.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Even universes. I thought Throne of Glass had a crossover
- 19:39Speaker 1: with Akatar.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Oh, you mean, like, and potentially they're on the same world?
- 19:44Speaker 1: That's what I thought, because, like, I just thought, and
- 19:47Speaker 1: I thought it was set, like, I don't know, fucking five.
- 19:50Speaker 2: 5,000 years later. Maybe that could be the case. And
- 19:54Speaker 2: you could also argue that Crescent City is the same
- 19:58Speaker 2: situation where, because they would just be the most futuristic.
- 20:02Speaker 1: This could be completely wrong, but it's giving Akitas like
- 20:06Speaker 1: when Jesus was born. And then throwing a glass is
- 20:09Speaker 1: like us. And then Crescent City is like when there's
- 20:12Speaker 1: flying cars.
- 20:13Speaker 2: That's how I picture it. Yeah, that's fair. But it's
- 20:18Speaker 2: weird because in Crescent City, they have to do this
- 20:22Speaker 2: thing called... So, anyone that is a Vanir, so you're
- 20:31Speaker 2: either Fae or Angel or Shifter or whatever, you're not
- 20:36Speaker 2: born immortal. So you're born into your species, you grow
- 20:41Speaker 2: up to an age, and then you decide after the
- 20:44Speaker 2: age of like 20 when you want to do this
- 20:45Speaker 2: thing called taking the drop. And when you take the drop,
- 20:49Speaker 2: you then come out of that immortal.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 20:53Speaker 2: It's so weird. So weird. And you like, when you
- 20:58Speaker 2: take the drop, I think you like give a little
- 21:01Speaker 2: bit of your power to the government and they literally
- 21:04Speaker 2: use that power. That's like their electricity.
- 21:06Speaker 1: It's crazy, right? So there's a lot of, I'm going
- 21:10Speaker 1: to call it controversy in the background of like what's
- 21:12Speaker 1: going to happen. I guess that's what makes it exciting.
- 21:14Speaker 1: And overall, I'm like 10 out of 10 excited for
- 21:16Speaker 1: these next two books.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, same.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Should we finish on some predictions?
- 21:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. I do think so. Even think
- 21:24Speaker 2: about how like into it, like we just spoke for
- 21:25Speaker 2: 30 minutes about what we should literally do.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Like we don't do that. Like we wouldn't do that
- 21:31Speaker 1: about books. True, true, true, true, which is exciting.
- 21:35Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Yeah, so we want to obviously,
- 21:37Speaker 2: we want to. Yeah, yeah, yeah, 100%.
- 21:38Speaker 1: I think that's the main thing. I just remember, maybe
- 21:41Speaker 1: it was because it was new to us, like every
- 21:43Speaker 1: single night we were in that sort of phase of
- 21:46Speaker 1: trying to get like good sleep or whatever or have
- 21:48Speaker 1: a good routine. I was just looking forward to going
- 21:51Speaker 1: to bed at like 8.30, 9 o'clock and then just
- 21:53Speaker 1: reading like 10, 15 chapters. And I was like, this
- 21:56Speaker 1: is like the highlight of my day. But for some reason,
- 21:58Speaker 1: since Akita, it's kind of been like, oh, yeah, I
- 22:00Speaker 1: guess I'll read. Yeah, fair.
- 22:02Speaker 2: It's like I kind of need to read for work.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what it's been like.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I haven't felt like that with, so sort of was
- 22:11Speaker 2: feeling that that was for fourth wing and then, but
- 22:16Speaker 2: throne of glass. I don't think I felt like that
- 22:19Speaker 2: except for assassin's blade. I wasn't the biggest fan of
- 22:21Speaker 2: assassin's blade, but the other ones I did like an
- 22:24Speaker 2: air of fire. I was so happy. We didn't have restraints.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I fucking.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Okay.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Predictions.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Oh, I think so. We talked about Koshi, um, I
- 22:36Speaker 1: think there's going to be, do you remember at the
- 22:37Speaker 1: end how Nesta, she lost like her powers and then
- 22:41Speaker 1: she changed Feyre's like pelvis or whatever so she could
- 22:46Speaker 1: have her kid?
- 22:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Did she do that to Elaine too and herself?
- 22:55Speaker 2: No, she did it to herself because I remember, so
- 22:58Speaker 2: I don't know if she did it to Elaine, but
- 22:59Speaker 2: she did it to herself because do you remember near
- 23:02Speaker 2: the end when her and Cassian are like married or whatever?
- 23:05Speaker 2: And then she says to him, she says in some
- 23:09Speaker 2: sort of way that she did it to herself because
- 23:11Speaker 2: then he starts to cry or something because he then
- 23:13Speaker 2: can have a family. Because this guy just straight up
- 23:18Speaker 2: comes in her.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I think they're going to have a kid and it's
- 23:21Speaker 1: going to be unexpected. They're going to like keep fucking
- 23:25Speaker 1: and then they're going to have a kid. And what
- 23:26Speaker 1: was Reese and Faye was kid's name again?
- 23:29Speaker 2: This guy Kareem. This guy Kareem.
- 23:33Speaker 1: He doesn't give a fuck.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and then he just fucking rubs it with his fingers.
- 23:43Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Which is funny. I think there's going to be something
- 23:47Speaker 1: within the books of something to do with the pelvis
- 23:50Speaker 1: or having kids or maybe they'll be like... For some reason,
- 23:55Speaker 1: after listening to Sarah J Maas go on the Call
- 23:57Speaker 1: Her Daddy podcast, she seemed to make Nesta like... the
- 24:01Speaker 1: epitome of what her journey was like going through depression.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Okay.
- 24:06Speaker 1: And I feel like now Sarah J Maas is on
- 24:11Speaker 1: the other side of that with her family and kids,
- 24:12Speaker 1: so I think she's going to put Nestor through the
- 24:15Speaker 1: same journey that she went through. Okay.
- 24:19Speaker 2: What do you think about– I, for some reason, thought
- 24:22Speaker 2: we were going to get an Elaine book.
- 24:24Speaker 1: That's what– I was doing some research with– people hate
- 24:26Speaker 1: that we use it– ChatGBT. Yeah.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:30Speaker 1: They said that a lot of people were predicting Elaine
- 24:33Speaker 1: and Asriel within these books. But also, it's just like
- 24:38Speaker 1: with the soft magic system, it makes sense because who
- 24:41Speaker 1: are we on to next? We've done Nessa and Cassian.
- 24:42Speaker 1: We've done Farah and Rhys.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Okay. But it's the Valkyries. Unless Elaine joins the Valkyries,
- 24:48Speaker 2: but she didn't seem to have any interest.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I forgot. Where do we leave things with Elaine? Was
- 24:51Speaker 1: she still doing her own thing and hated Asriel?
- 24:53Speaker 2: No. No, so I think she's got sort of a
- 24:58Speaker 2: little bit of a thing for Asriel. She doesn't like Lucian.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Some people think that Tamlin has shifted into Lucian and
- 25:08Speaker 2: has been there the whole time in the Night Court,
- 25:10Speaker 2: and that's why Elaine hates his guts.
- 25:12Speaker 1: I would love that. If Tamlin came back, I'd love that.
- 25:15Speaker 2: It would be a good storyline.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I'm telling you, man, I want Tamlin to come back
- 25:20Speaker 1: and be the main character again. I have a shirt
- 25:22Speaker 1: that says, I love Tamlin. Yeah, that's- Oh, is this
- 25:25Speaker 1: close to getting a tramp stamp that says, I love
- 25:28Speaker 1: Tamlin on my bum?
- 25:29Speaker 2: No, main character's fucking crazy, eh? She even says, Sarah
- 25:32Speaker 2: J Maas says in that interview with Alice Cooper that
- 25:35Speaker 2: some people were just not meant to have a comeback.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Like Tamlin's just fucked.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Up his past.
- 25:39Speaker 2: I forgot about that, damn it.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Anyways, we could talk about this forever because like we said, overall,
- 25:45Speaker 1: even though there's so much going on, what to do,
- 25:47Speaker 1: what we should do, how anyone should read it, we're
- 25:50Speaker 1: keen as fuck.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Yes.
- 25:52Speaker 1: So comment below all the questions. There had to be
- 25:55Speaker 1: 10 questions we asked within that episode because we want
- 25:57Speaker 1: everyone's opinion to make the best episodes possible.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:00Speaker 1: But we're going to finish there. And like Jake said,
- 26:02Speaker 1: we're back to Throne of Glass next week.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Usual proceedings.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Yes, we are.
- 26:06Speaker 2: So you guys are going to get an Air of
- 26:07Speaker 2: Fire episode.
- 26:09Speaker 1: And on Patreon, we will say as well, we will
- 26:12Speaker 1: be going back post-Air of Fire to Patreon receives the
- 26:16Speaker 1: episodes five days early on a Monday, same day as
- 26:19Speaker 1: the main episode, and then Fridays for free on Spotify.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Dang. Okay.
- 26:23Speaker 1: So we're going back to that. $ 8. 99 a month. Book
- 26:25Speaker 1: club community over there is insane as well as the
- 26:28Speaker 1: extra episodes on Patreon just like outside book club. 10
- 26:31Speaker 1: out of 10, might I just say.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Fucking oath. All right. We love you. Stay bad.
