- 0:07Speaker 1: Good morning.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Good morning, let's bring some heat.
- 0:12Speaker 1: One of these Wednesdays I'm going to put some booze in my coffee.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Not this Wednesday, though.
- 0:17Speaker 1: You won't do it.
- 0:17Speaker 1: I probably won't do that.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Mike Blitz, I'm your host.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Mike Wade.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Co-host over there.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Mike White, Talk about some week eight college football.
- 0:35Speaker 1: What's up, bro?
- 0:37Speaker 2: What's up, man?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Good morning, happy, happy Wednesday and happy week eight.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Week eight.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right, we've had a pretty bomb week seven.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Actually, it's a pretty great week of football, can?
- 0:47Speaker 2: you believe we're halfway through the season, more than halfway, man, god it makes me sad.
- 0:51Speaker 1: College football is so fast.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Sometimes I get mad because I think about the other sports, like impeding, like hockey just started, basketball is starting, like next week, I'm like no man, it's still football season.
- 1:02Speaker 1: If you are, this is my, this is football territory.
- 1:04Speaker 1: You are impeding on my turf.
- 1:06Speaker 1: It makes me, just makes me sad.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So no, it's going to be December 7th before we know it and we're going to be waiting three weeks for a bowl game that we probably don't care that much about and it's going to be over.
- 1:16Speaker 1: But before then we got five weeks at least four weeks of that super hot college football action.
- 1:22Speaker 1: So that's great news.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Let's go ahead and jump right into week seven review.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I told you, usc sucked, they suck, they are not good at football.
- 1:32Speaker 1: They got absolutely smoked by Notre Dame, exactly the way I told you that was going to happen.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Just get back it up.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't suck.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I think they might.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Here's what we both predicted that Notre Dame win.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Oh, did you too.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Okay you're right, yeah, yeah, give me some credit.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Give me some credit, my bad.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Respect, Respect.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Here's my question for you Replace Caleb Williams with your average Pac-12 quarterback, Jane DeLora.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Arizona starter.
- 1:54Speaker 1: What's their record?
- 1:57Speaker 2: I don't think that's fair.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I don't think that's a fair game.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Why not Take any superstar quarterback and replace them with a mediocre player, and you have a much worse team period.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Oh sure, but that's my point is like USC, I think was only thought about until this past weekend as his upper stratosphere national title contending team.
- 2:16Speaker 1: And the argument I'm trying to make is that the team Caleb Williams we all look like Caleb Williams.
- 2:20Speaker 1: He's probably number one pick.
- 2:22Speaker 1: He could win the Heisman again.
- 2:24Speaker 1: He won the Heisman last year.
- 2:26Speaker 1: He's very, very good.
- 2:27Speaker 1: He's all world Beyond them.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I don't think USC is that good.
- 2:32Speaker 1: My point I think there are seven, five team without Caleb Williams.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I mean I think the drop off is so dramatic when you get to take him out the team.
- 2:39Speaker 1: That's my point I'm trying to make.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Okay, that's fair enough, but I could argue take Michael Pennix Jr off Washington.
- 2:46Speaker 2: They're not a playoff contender, they're, you know, two, three loss team.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Whatever.
- 2:51Speaker 2: You could do that for most teams.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Sure, what's LSU without Jaden Daniels right now?
- 2:56Speaker 1: Well, I mean we've got, I mean we have one of the best.
- 2:58Speaker 2: No, shut up.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Fine, anyway, they went down.
- 3:02Speaker 1: They went down bad.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Notre Dame needed that.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Marcus Freeman needed that win.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Keep the dogs at bay.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So good for him for securing the win.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Sam Hartman, well done.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Moving on you dub, humongous win, instant.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Classic Oregon game.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I know you had a hard time watching because I'm sure your eyes were tied on your, on your vols, but man back and forth, absolute thriller in like.
- 3:26Speaker 1: My main takeaway is you dub might be the class of the West, but one not by much.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And to Oregon is also every bit as good as advertised.
- 3:35Speaker 2: What are we your yeah?
- 3:36Speaker 1: we'll go ahead.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I agree this game, this is not one of those like oh, this is a clear, you know, defining moment for Washington because Oregon could easily win that game.
- 3:49Speaker 2: It doesn't make me think any less of Oregon.
- 3:51Speaker 2: If anything, it makes me think more of both of these teams.
- 3:55Speaker 2: This game was awesome and we're back and forth.
- 3:59Speaker 2: It definitely was a true classic.
- 4:00Speaker 2: We could see them both playing each other again at the end of the season, If things shake out.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Yeah, they both kind of have some tough games ahead and both of them play your terrible USC Trojans.
- 4:13Speaker 1: They both got.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Oregon State, and then Oregon's got Utah.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Washington has the Apple Cup in Washington State, which is no gimme.
- 4:19Speaker 2: That's going to be really exciting If we can see again.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I would love to see that.
- 4:26Speaker 2: The other takeaway from this was I.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Every weekend we're getting these upper echelon games that are playing out exactly as you'd want them to.
- 4:37Speaker 2: You know, these top build.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I mean, every single weekend we're getting these instant classics and it's awesome.
- 4:43Speaker 2: It's been a fantastic season.
- 4:45Speaker 1: No, it's true that the headlining has been several headlining games that totally lift up Texas, alabama, texas, oklahoma obviously you do.
- 4:54Speaker 1: There's been a bunch of examples of just really, really great games and we've been high level good football.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I think UDubs wide receivers are absolutely unguardable.
- 5:03Speaker 1: We knew those guys were good.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Those receivers are just nasty.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Really really like watching them play.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I think Michael Penix is rapidly securing his hold on the Heisman, which is really great.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I know there's a lot of football to play, but he is clearly.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Vegas now has him is like minus 150, so he's like clearly the heavy favorite.
- 5:24Speaker 1: So I mean our PPP fund is continuing to surge, which is great news.
- 5:29Speaker 1: We might get some polos this year, so that's really awesome, really excited about that I don't think our fans have wrapped their minds around this yet.
- 5:36Speaker 2: No, I don't think you have realized.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I don't have any filthy excitement.
- 5:39Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 5:39Speaker 1: But while that being said, I do like what you said about the how many good games are coming.
- 5:45Speaker 1: The Pac-12, which I think is the best conference in football, this year has these two superstar teams, UW and Oregon, which I think have all earned their space, but they had this whole crust of four very good teams that could create a ton of carnage.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Oregon State, washington State.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Utah, ucla, usc, which I now put in that category as well.
- 6:05Speaker 1: All of those teams are capable of beating UW or Oregon at any given weekend.
- 6:08Speaker 1: They're going to get their shots.
- 6:08Speaker 1: So as good as the Pac-12 is me, we still might see some real chaos coming down the chute here the very last five weeks.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you love to see that kind of parody, and nobody's running away with anything this year.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Speaking of Pac-12 carnage Colorado lost.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I went to bed 29 to nothing, feeling good.
- 6:31Speaker 1: This game was on 10 o'clock Eastern time.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I was like it's like midnight, I went to bed.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Stanford came all the way back, lost in overtime.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Oh man, dion, this one's a tough one because, honestly, they were fighting for a bowl game this year.
- 6:44Speaker 1: This was one of the games that, if you look at their schedule, speaking of the upper echelon Pac-12 teams, colorado's got like five of them.
- 6:51Speaker 1: This was a game they really had to have.
- 6:53Speaker 1: They didn't have it.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I don't have much of a takeaway other than this team is just.
- 6:57Speaker 1: This is what we thought they were going to be like four and three at this point this season fighting for a bowl.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Like, obviously the first seven weeks were wild, but like, how they got here where they are, it's the same place.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you still don't.
- 7:10Speaker 2: You still don't lose that one in the way that they did.
- 7:13Speaker 2: There's not really an excuse for it.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Stanford's just not a good team.
- 7:18Speaker 2: No, they're bad.
- 7:18Speaker 2: They're bad football.
- 7:19Speaker 1: There's.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Colorado.
- 7:20Speaker 2: But to eat that kind of, to give up that kind of lead, inexcusable.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and the press is giving me so much worse about it because of the Dion effect and because of the flash that you see.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Shadr Sanders was posting Instagram ads at half time of his gear on his Insta story like sweatshirts.
- 7:36Speaker 2: That is ridiculous.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm pretty sure.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure that was not Shadr.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure Shadr, on his phone, wasn't sitting there with the show yeah no.
- 7:43Speaker 1: That was like Shadr's helper or whatever, but like it just looks so bad.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a bad look, so bad yeah.
- 7:49Speaker 2: And also, let's remember that the media were the ones hyping Dion and Colorado.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, this is also for them to come around and be like oh see, I told you so.
- 7:59Speaker 1: So classic?
- 8:01Speaker 1: No, this is self fulfilled prophecy.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Overplay a story and then turn around and criticize it like oh yeah, we've seen this cycle happen.
- 8:08Speaker 2: They do it every freaking year.
- 8:09Speaker 2: They're the ones in charge of the Texas's back narrative that we love to make fun of.
- 8:15Speaker 1: It's true, but that that narrative is fun because it's never true and it's always fun.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Well, it's kind of true.
- 8:20Speaker 2: This year We'll see.
- 8:21Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 8:21Speaker 1: They got some games.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I mean they're still back.
- 8:23Speaker 2: They don't have to win a natty to be back.
- 8:24Speaker 2: They're.
- 8:25Speaker 2: They're a really good team.
- 8:26Speaker 2: They're top 10 team.
- 9:08Speaker 1: That might be true, but I'm still going to say Texas is not back the first time they lose.
- 9:11Speaker 1: I'm still going to enjoy taking that victory lap once I get it.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Let's get rolling.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Unc is legit.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Really impressive win against Miami.
- 9:20Speaker 1: On the flip side, the NCAA is an absolute joke.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Devontes Walker, this receiver transfer who those you don't, those you don't follow transferred to one school, never played, transferred again to UNC.
- 9:32Speaker 1: The UNC blocked it.
- 9:33Speaker 1: They couldn't do it, they couldn't get to play.
- 9:35Speaker 1: That's a really condensed over, simplified version of the story.
- 9:39Speaker 2: We covered it briefly a couple of weeks ago because that's when it first came to head.
- 9:43Speaker 1: It's just a stupid NCAA clearance situation, just dumb and honestly, I think at that time it didn't get that much credit.
- 9:49Speaker 1: It didn't get that much airtime as a story because I don't think we really knew who Devontes Walker was or UNC.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Let me tell you, devontes Walker is.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Devontes Walker is 6 for 132 yards and three touchdowns.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Dude bald, he is good.
- 10:01Speaker 1: This week was a chance to be like oh, this is what UNC was so mad about.
- 10:06Speaker 1: They're trying to get that guy on the field.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Holy smokes, miami's got a good secondary.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Camp Kitchen is like an all American safety.
- 10:14Speaker 1: They've got guys back there that can play defense and UNC and Devontes Walker is absolutely bald out.
- 10:20Speaker 1: So I mean, is UNC like, are they, are they the?
- 10:23Speaker 1: Are they the Florida State challengers this year?
- 10:25Speaker 2: It kind of looks that way when you look ahead at the schedule.
- 10:28Speaker 2: They've got UVA, georgia Tech, campbell, they still have Duke and Clemson, but I mean they're looking like they're going to go into November Basically unscathed and defeated.
- 10:44Speaker 2: So, yeah, I mean it's gonna.
- 10:47Speaker 1: we'll see how things shake out, but like all of a sudden, yeah, I'd say Clemson's probably the second most talented team, but they're gonna need a lot of chaos to climb their way back in Miami now as well, with that indescribable Georgia Tech loss, which we talked about last week, obviously, and now this one as well.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Duke will have their shot this week, which we'll talk about second half of the show.
- 11:07Speaker 2: And that Clemson game is on the road, so that's gonna be a tough one.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and honestly I think they probably lose that game, but I think it's probably their only loss.
- 11:15Speaker 1: And Clemson has two, maybe three.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Clemson has some tough challenges as well.
- 11:19Speaker 1: So even if they drop that one, I'm still kind of thinking in my mind we need to start penciling in.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I think you could safely pencil in UNC, florida State for ACC championship game.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Let's talk about the SEC a little bit.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Mizzou is a good football team.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you your flowers here.
- 11:36Speaker 1: You were right, you were all over that.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I picked Kentucky, you picked Missouri.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I think Brady Cook is a really good quarterback.
- 11:43Speaker 1: And those receivers I think Luther Burton, the five-star freshman, might be the best receivers in the country.
- 11:48Speaker 1: He's definitely playing like it.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Go ahead, man.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I mean you take your victory lap.
- 11:53Speaker 1: You were all over this.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Well, they had a really good defense last year and they kind of went under the radar because they weren't that great as a team collectively, and this year they've gotten a lot better on offense and they're just a really solid, dangerous team.
- 12:09Speaker 2: This is one of those teams that make the SEC such a tough conference to play in, because weekend and week out they can kind of beat anybody.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I'll be honest with you, I downgrade their defense in my mind.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I knew they were.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I mean, the first five weeks of the season the defense played really well.
- 12:23Speaker 1: I think it was leading the SEC in a lot of categories.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Lsu came to town.
- 12:27Speaker 1: We hung 50 on them.
- 12:28Speaker 1: We do that to a lot of teams, but I mean that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad unit and they turned around and stuck it to Kentucky in a big way.
- 12:35Speaker 1: I was obviously.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I think the Devon Leary situation is not working out the way it wants to.
- 12:41Speaker 1: No, ray Davis is the man.
- 12:42Speaker 1: He's still the man.
- 12:43Speaker 1: He will be the man later this year, but he needs help.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah, there's super one-dimensional Kentucky is.
- 12:50Speaker 1: And I just honestly he's given out.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Given what we've seen Devon Leary do, especially as a previous stop at NC State, like I kind of thought that was gonna be, and Liam Coe and me off the corner coming back, we had a lot of reason to be really optimistic on Kentucky's passing attack and it just nope.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Yeah, they've got.
- 13:04Speaker 2: They've lost two in a row.
- 13:05Speaker 2: They've got a buy this week.
- 13:07Speaker 2: And then Tennessee come into town to Kroger Field at a night game, seven o'clock game.
- 13:12Speaker 2: So, we'll see.
- 13:13Speaker 2: It's not I don't know.
- 13:15Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 13:16Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a wounded dog and well, that's gonna be a tough matchup for sure.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Moving on, Arizona erased a very good Washington State team 44 to six.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Our boy, Cam Ward, went down bad.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Noah Fafita is the name of the week that you need to know.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Noah Fafita, the guy who replaced Jane DeLora we talked about earlier at this show, the starting quarterback for Arizona.
- 13:39Speaker 1: He is outstanding and he had an outstanding game, and they host Oregon State next week and, oh my gosh, like I don't know, maybe he's gonna be starting to talk about Arizona.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Washington State is a really good team and for them to get to to them to lose 44 to six to anybody, let alone Arizona, is just wild.
- 13:57Speaker 2: So, yeah, that's a headscratcher for me.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Arizona is better than I thought they would be.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Yeah, they're really good on offense.
- 14:04Speaker 2: I still don't know who they are.
- 14:06Speaker 2: They're they're they're kind of a weird one.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I think they're getting a lot better, though.
- 14:09Speaker 2: This is one of those situations that you see a lot in college football.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Everyone kind of makes their mind up early about a team, and these teams can drastically change week to week and improve a lot over the year, and so it's really important situationally, where you get a certain teams on the schedule.
- 14:26Speaker 2: What's going on with personnel injuries, bi weeks, all those things, road games?
- 14:31Speaker 2: It's just that's why.
- 14:33Speaker 2: That's what makes college football so fascinating.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I mean Jed Fish is a good coach and he's proven in the long haul to do that.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I wrote them off after the Mississippi State loss.
- 14:41Speaker 1: They lost Mississippi State at home like week two and at that point in my mind which I've done this I mean we've seen this million times.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Don't do that, there's lots of football left to be played came back strong kudos to them.
- 14:52Speaker 1: What else can go?
- 14:53Speaker 1: Shane Beamer is Shane Beamer bad or is Florida good Like what happened in that?
- 15:00Speaker 1: I mean the South Carolina Florida, it's a little bit of both.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Both teams are kind of finding themselves.
- 15:05Speaker 2: I've always climbed on Shane Beamer.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Personally, I think he's a little bit.
- 15:08Speaker 2: He's just a little bit of a cartoon character to me.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Dork, yeah, I think South Carolina can be a dangerous team, but they're kind of trending in the wrong direction, just again where they are in their season.
- 15:22Speaker 2: They needed a couple of points to go their way and it's kind of trending in the wrong direction.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Florida has gotten some things rolling so, and they've got the talent, which that's never been the question there.
- 15:34Speaker 2: So they pulled out a tough one.
- 15:37Speaker 1: And that was a game.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Both programs really needed to have.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, and Grammar has played really well.
- 15:42Speaker 1: That was his first really good road showing for Florida, so that's promising Cause they've got Florida has a very back load, and they've got Georgia, lsu and Florida State and I think one or two other big ones, so Florida's got some monsters coming down.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Yeah, they really needed that one, and South Carolina is the same way.
- 15:59Speaker 2: They've got a lot of tough games down the stretch.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Clemson, clemson, yeah.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I do want to give Spencer Rattler credit.
- 16:07Speaker 1: I mean, he has no help and he's getting murdered back there Almost every play.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Offensive line is one of the worst offensive lines in the SEC I've seen in a long time and he's hanging back there and dealing.
- 16:18Speaker 1: He's earning himself a lot of money.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I think he's proven that he is a very capable quarterback and is going to play in the NFL.
- 16:23Speaker 1: But man, it's just you're going to take a beating for the next five weeks, buddy.
- 16:28Speaker 1: So kudos to him for hanging tough.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Iowa wins 12 to six in the sickest football game I've ever seen, lose to Wisconsin, which I thought Wisconsin.
- 16:41Speaker 2: You mean that in like the 90s way, like oh sick.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I just, I guess I do.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I like oh, that was a sick defense, Sick job Iowa.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I hear they're going to go 11 and one.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Iowa's the rest of their skills, the rest of the way.
- 16:54Speaker 1: They don't play anybody in the.
- 16:55Speaker 1: They don't play any of the three big 10s.
- 16:57Speaker 1: They skip Michigan and Ohio State.
- 17:00Speaker 1: They have they've got Minnesota this week and then Nebraska and Illinois.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Like they're going to go 11 and one and they're going to be one win away from the playoff, which is just wild given what's happening in Will that be the I don't know how to say this Maybe the worst 11 and one power five team.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Are we not giving them?
- 17:21Speaker 2: No, I'm not even going to say it.
- 17:23Speaker 2: No, this is the worst.
- 17:25Speaker 2: No absolutely.
- 17:26Speaker 1: This is the worst.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Minnesota Northwest or Rutgers, illinois and Nebraska are their five, five twins.
- 17:31Speaker 1: They're going to be favored in all of them.
- 17:33Speaker 1: At Nebraska, maybe Rutgers could be tricky.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I mean Minnesota, the Greek rocket we never.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I think he's a shell, but we thought he could be.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Illinois did steal one from Maryland this past week, but like they got nothing.
- 17:44Speaker 1: So I'm expecting them to be 11 and one and then just be the sacrificial lamb to whoever it is, penn State, whatever in the, in Indianapolis, the big 10.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Good for them.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Good for France for sticking to the man doing what he's going to do and just racking up a bajillion wins.
- 17:57Speaker 1: So good for them.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Michigan is an absolute hammer and just continues to race anybody they play.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I know they haven't played anybody and I know their schedule is just is soft, but every single week they look wildly impressive, beating Indiana 52 to seven.
- 18:15Speaker 1: This week, I think they they gave up an opening drive touchdown to Indiana and then riddled off six straight touchdown drives and outrageous like that.
- 18:21Speaker 1: They look like a juggernaut.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I know that and I've said it too.
- 18:26Speaker 2: It's a common I mean, it's just a common thread and there's it's hard to stay away from to say, oh, this team hasn't played anybody.
- 18:34Speaker 2: You see it a lot in college football.
- 18:35Speaker 2: You know it seems really good.
- 18:36Speaker 2: You don't know how good they are.
- 18:37Speaker 2: But there's also something to be said for just taking care of business and just hammering teams, like you should, cause it's hard, it's.
- 18:44Speaker 2: It's not that easy to just roll out of bed and beat a team by you know, a power five team by like 40 points and this is yeah, and this is.
- 18:52Speaker 1: This is a class situation of like mid season where a lot of really great teams they have a bad half or they let it close, one being the third core, and they pull away and they they eventually beat Rutgers 31-24.
- 19:03Speaker 1: They haven't had that game, not even close.
- 19:06Speaker 1: They've never given up more than 10 points.
- 19:08Speaker 1: So it has been thorough domination for six months.
- 19:10Speaker 1: I saw this on Twitter somewhere.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Michigan this season is like a when Homer Simpson on the Simpsons competed with those third graders in the science fair and they're like he's competing against third graders, yeah, but he's kicking their ass Like oh God.
- 19:23Speaker 1: So we're going to find out Michigan's I mean Michigan's really, let's face it, it's a two game season Penn State and Ohio State.
- 19:33Speaker 1: They are playing at Michigan State this week, which we'll talk about in a minute, but Michigan State is a shell of who they once were.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Last thing about last thing I want to talk about before we jump in the homers JMU stopped Georgia Southern 41-13.
- 19:48Speaker 1: They're the best team in the Sunbelt.
- 19:50Speaker 1: They also might go undefeated and, for some stupid reason, won't win.
- 19:54Speaker 1: We'll be able to go to a bowl.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Those of you who don't know, jmu has a two year bowl band moving from the FCS to FBS.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I still haven't had anybody who's smarter than me explain to me what the point of that transitional rule is like, what it's protecting, defending.
- 20:09Speaker 2: It makes absolutely zero sense.
- 20:10Speaker 2: It's almost like they're saying like oh, like you're just, it's a big step for you, so let's take it easy.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Like let's not have you play one more game if you earn it.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Institutional sandbagging.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Like.
- 20:21Speaker 1: What is the point?
- 20:21Speaker 1: Like, what are we accomplishing?
- 20:23Speaker 1: I don't really know.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Kudos, kurtzignetti, they're just, they're beating everybody.
- 20:29Speaker 1: They also have a big game tomorrow which we're going to talk about a little bit at the very end.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Cool, all right, let's jump into the homers.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Uva was on a buy.
- 20:38Speaker 1: We didn't skip them.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Virginia Tech complete win.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Driver of bowls alive, one by three scores.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Career day for drones 320 yards.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Passing Held Wake Force 260 total yards.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Great day for the defense.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I'm looking at Virginia Tech schedule the rest of the way down and I'm seeing five winnable games.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I'm not saying they're going to win.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Let me pull it up really quick and see if I can find it.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I'm not saying they're going to win five more games, but they're all winnable.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Tech's bowl hopes are alive.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, drones is getting better and better, which is huge.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that Louisville games got to be really tough.
- 21:16Speaker 2: But yeah, I agree with you, they've got a shot here we got.
- 21:20Speaker 1: We got Sarah Q's at home, winnable at Louisville, which is probably the toughest one left.
- 21:24Speaker 1: At Boston College, very winnable while college not good.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Nc State, which they just they.
- 21:29Speaker 1: They continued Speaking of transfer quarterbacks.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Our boy, are you VA?
- 21:32Speaker 1: Who's been a blank on right this second?
- 21:34Speaker 1: right now, I'm sure right now Thank you, who's not been there?
- 21:36Speaker 1: And then the Commonwealth Cup at UVA, like at.
- 21:41Speaker 1: They're sitting at three and four like a win this week and they are back in it, which would be humongous for Brent Pry trying to get some talent injection into tech.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Having them Just I mean, this is Virginia Tech is a classic team of growing pains and trying to develop and drones.
- 21:56Speaker 1: They're one of those teams that would benefit so much from the extra 15 Practices that the bowl affords you like.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Being able to keep those kids on campus training coaching, like Going into 2024 like a bowl, would mean so much to the Hokies.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's also just a really nice reward for the team the put.
- 22:16Speaker 2: You know the fans Sticking in there.
- 22:19Speaker 2: I mean you get another chance for a win.
- 22:22Speaker 2: You get to build some momentum for the next year.
- 22:24Speaker 2: It's good for recruiting.
- 22:25Speaker 2: It's also gonna make that that last game against UVA potentially very interesting very spicy.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Good, big a spicy match up something, little something, make sure to play, for maybe I mean I don't.
- 22:34Speaker 1: I mean I don't want to say something like jinx it, but I really feels like me and Virginia Tech has turned a little bit of corner.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Three weeks ago they beat and hit soundly 3821.
- 22:41Speaker 1: They lost the floor to state but they didn't look nearly as bad as anybody thought they were.
- 22:44Speaker 1: They played pretty well in that game, especially on offense and Wake Forest 30 to 13.
- 22:48Speaker 1: It's a sound.
- 22:49Speaker 1: It's just a sound beating like yeah, this might be you know what we saw.
- 22:53Speaker 1: September Hokies might be a far different team that we see in the November Hokies and it's trending that way.
- 22:58Speaker 1: So good for them keeping it up.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Oh, let's do all do my LSU game, then we'll jump into your.
- 23:03Speaker 1: You're the big win.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Lsu first good defensive performance of the year against a real team under 300 yards.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Total offense given up Wasn't great because offerings Auburn's offense actually stinks.
- 23:15Speaker 1: But Jane Daniels play the command, doesn't matter who they're playing against.
- 23:20Speaker 1: He's gonna get his Really happy with pretty much everything that we saw out of LSU Complete game.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Death Valley at night one by 30 beat Auburn, which is a weird team.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I don't have much to say about that, I'm just you know, we're we.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Our season is squarely pointing to the LSU Alabama game in three weeks, but yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I had it myself anything on LSU Auburn.
- 23:43Speaker 2: That game went about how I thought it would.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's what I mean.
- 23:47Speaker 2: That's the way I should have played out Yep and and, and Auburn is kind of limping along at this point.
- 23:51Speaker 2: You know everything lined up well for LSU and they took care of business and dominated yeah.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I'm happy, the way that worked out, all right.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Last one before we jump in the next week, and big one, humongous win for your vols.
- 24:03Speaker 1: This is your game.
- 24:04Speaker 1: What you, you go ahead and break it down for me.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Yeah, really, I mean an ugly win.
- 24:09Speaker 2: One won it with defense.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Put up how many yards of rushing against one of against the best rushing defense and in the SEC, what did?
- 24:19Speaker 2: What did we get to?
- 24:20Speaker 2: 32 to 32 on the ground?
- 24:22Speaker 2: Oh, aggies surrendered 11 quarterback hits.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Max Johnson was pressured 64% of his drop backs and the highest pressure rate for the Aggies since 2014, when that stat was a thing give Tennessee some credit.
- 24:38Speaker 1: But Max Johnson is slower than Paste.
- 24:41Speaker 1: He is sick.
- 24:42Speaker 1: He held the ball so long, so many times.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Tennessee's front seven deserves a lot of credit because they are, quite frankly, a Very good unit.
- 24:48Speaker 1: But Max Johnson, some of that stuff is self-inflicted.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Um, I mean, We'll take it.
- 24:54Speaker 2: It's it's, it's hard, it's self-inflicted.
- 24:56Speaker 2: He's getting hit every single play.
- 24:58Speaker 2: So so, yeah, I like you know still some things to improve on, but solid SEC win, yeah, I'm not mad at it.
- 25:09Speaker 1: But nicely done.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I know I'm involved.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I mean that's, this was a 330 game.
- 25:12Speaker 1: A nail in was electric and obviously like it's how you beat.
- 25:15Speaker 1: It's how you beat a team that's I mean on paper at least more talented in Texas, a&m, pound for pound, star for star, is more talented.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Anytime you beat them just means a lot.
- 25:24Speaker 1: It's a you know, it's a big endorsement for hypo.
- 25:27Speaker 2: They're still very dangerous.
- 25:29Speaker 2: They've got an excellent defense and excellent front seven, one of the best in the country, so yeah you don't need to tell me LSU went to this game.
- 25:36Speaker 1: I mean, they were they were four and seven last season and LSU went into them and lost by like 20 points because they were more talented.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Anytime you have legit, high caliber players on full, you know, scattered over roster capable of doing a great thing, so beating them awesome.
- 25:52Speaker 1: On the flip side, are we gonna see the largest buyout in college football history this year, and we're talking about Jimbo Fisher's contract 70.
- 26:01Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I think they fire him.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I think they fire him before January 1st.
- 26:04Speaker 1: It's like 70 million.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Which is which?
- 26:06Speaker 1: Which is like triple, triple, I think what anyone's ever given, anybody ever, um, like it turns out like large Contract buyouts Is this, is this get?
- 26:15Speaker 1: We can see that this year.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Um, I don't know.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I think the more interesting question is if he gets bought out, does he go coach as an assistant under Nick Saban and just Millions from A&M I?
- 26:30Speaker 1: Mean Saban's.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Saban's about to move to the lake man.
- 26:32Speaker 1: I think Saban's on his bigger butt.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Yeah, he is he the next person to go to the Saban Rehabilitation.
- 26:37Speaker 1: You know, they should remember they were beefing all summer, so they'll probably know, yeah, I know, I know they're not fans of one another.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Yeah, but then again, I mean Bob Petrino is about polarizing characters.
- 26:46Speaker 1: It gets and he's on that, he's in there in that house, so he's in that building doing working with them.
- 26:50Speaker 1: So like I don't know, man money talks, I mean it could, you can see it.
- 26:53Speaker 1: But man, kudos to the, to the vols.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Everything for them is still out in front of them.
- 27:00Speaker 1: You know one loss and control their destiny.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Playoff, birthday live, just championship is still alive.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Like you know, at least for one more week I'm the vols are.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not thinking about that, I'm thinking about it.
- 27:11Speaker 2: No, I'm thinking about going nine, and three would be really sweet.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Anything else on Week.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Anything else on week seven.
- 27:24Speaker 2: No, we spend far too much time.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Let's look ahead.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Okay, cool, let's go ahead and get started right away.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Penn State at Ohio State probably the game of the week the Paul Bunyan trophy, the rivalry trophy games, are back.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I Do not think Penn State is fraudulent.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I got Penn State winning this game outright.
- 27:39Speaker 1: The line doping at five and a half and a move down to four.
- 27:41Speaker 1: I don't think Ohio State's offense is there.
- 27:44Speaker 1: I don't think their offensive line is as good as people think they are and I don't think they're as tough as tough as Ryan Day projects.
- 27:51Speaker 1: On the other side of the coin, I actually Penn State is.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I got Penn State winning this game outright.
- 27:56Speaker 2: I Don't hate that pick.
- 27:58Speaker 2: This is a tough one.
- 27:58Speaker 2: It's a toss-up game.
- 27:59Speaker 2: For a reason, ohio State's won six in a row against Penn State and they've got them at home, which is why I like Ohio State to win it.
- 28:08Speaker 2: I think I like it by like a field goal, oh yeah.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Ohio State's been tested.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Ohio State has played some tougher opponents.
- 28:16Speaker 2: You know they played that Notre Dame game.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Penn State hasn't been, hasn't shown, hasn't had that back against the wall moment.
- 28:24Speaker 2: We don't know really who they are yet, although I do think they're a really good team.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I do think they are a top 10 team.
- 28:30Speaker 2: I just think it lines up well for Ohio State being at home in a tough environment against an untested Penn State team.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I mean, I'll say this Penn State's two of their wins are actually aging incredibly well.
- 28:43Speaker 1: One they boat-raised Iowa.
- 28:46Speaker 1: I think it was 31 to nothing, or whatever it was.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Iowa's gonna go 11 and one.
- 28:50Speaker 2: They're gonna go and we already said that doesn't mean anything, so shut up.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Number two West Virginia.
- 28:54Speaker 1: West Virginia is four and two.
- 28:55Speaker 1: They're also a good team and they opened the season with West Virginia.
- 28:59Speaker 1: I'm not saying I mean neither of those teams are as good as Notre Dame on the road, which, of course, is Ohio State's signature win.
- 29:05Speaker 1: But Penn State hasn't.
- 29:08Speaker 1: They haven't played nobody, so they got a little bit of street credit.
- 29:12Speaker 1: I think this game is gonna be one of loss, where it always is, in the trenches.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I think Penn State is physical and I think they're fast on defense.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I don't think Kyle McCord is anything close to CJ Stroud and they're gonna need I think they're gonna need 30 points to win this game.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I don't know how state gets there, so I got Penn State winning, winning outright.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I do think this one's gonna be fun stylistically because Penn State is gonna be kind of looking to run the ball and I don't think Ohio State's gonna be able to run the ball and they're gonna have to air it out a little bit.
- 29:42Speaker 2: So if they can hit some shots versus, you know, it's gonna be a little bit.
- 29:46Speaker 2: You'll kind of know, I think, early.
- 29:49Speaker 2: You know, if Ohio State gets a little bit of a lead, I don't know that Penn State can come back on that.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Conversely, if Penn State's moving the ball on the ground really easily, I like their chances.
- 30:01Speaker 1: So Penn State's had like zero big play offense this season.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Did you see those comments in the press conference like two weeks ago and James Franklin and that reporter was like hey, coach, do you ever just like draw plays where you're just like run the ball, throw the ball really really long?
- 30:16Speaker 2: I heard that.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I just like see what happens.
- 30:17Speaker 2: And James.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Franklin's like that's.
- 30:19Speaker 1: That's not.
- 30:19Speaker 1: You're not speaking English to me.
- 30:20Speaker 1: I don't understand you.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Yeah, he dwells on it for a long time he's like you're making me sick.
- 30:25Speaker 2: He's like you're making me sick Talking about that.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Just talking about just impersonally drawing up plays.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Just throw the ball long.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Like the point is is like the criticism is fair, like Penn State's big, big play offense has not been there.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Lambert Smith, I think, is a really good wide receiver and they usually give them a chance to go make some plays, but they really haven't been there.
- 30:42Speaker 1: They also haven't really needed it.
- 30:43Speaker 1: They're going to need it this week, so that criticism will either be really valid or really stupid.
- 30:48Speaker 1: We're going to find out in about five days.
- 30:50Speaker 1: So that's, that's enough on that.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Let's keep it rolling.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Duke plus 14 at Florida State.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I don't have a lot on this game.
- 30:57Speaker 1: I think Ryan Leonard's probably not going to be back.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Other than that, I just think Mike Elko is probably the best coach, one of, if not the best, top five, top 10 coaches in the country, who might be the next A&M coach.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Frankly, that's too many points.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I really like what I've seen out of Duke.
- 31:10Speaker 1: They are just solid.
- 31:11Speaker 1: I don't think Florida State has the ability to put them away like that.
- 31:16Speaker 1: I got Duke covering the 14 points but losing.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I kind of like him to cover but lose as well, especially since it's at Florida State.
- 31:23Speaker 2: And I just don't think, you know, when you have these stories about teams like the Duke Blue Devils who are just sort of like they have that talent deficit, it's rare that they can continue to do it against top teams repeatedly.
- 31:38Speaker 2: You know they pull off the big one, but it's tough to just keep going back to the well when you don't maybe have the rosters of a Florida State.
- 31:47Speaker 2: And you can, you can survive off adrenaline and drive and guts, you know, once or twice, but you can't keep doing it.
- 31:55Speaker 2: So yeah, I like Florida State, but I don't think it's a bloodbath, you know.
- 31:59Speaker 2: I think it's a good, solid, hardfought game.
- 32:01Speaker 1: I will say if Riley Leonard does play and they're saying I think last I checked on, you know, according to Google day or two ago it was kind of a toss up, it wasn't so sure if he does play, if he is full speed, I think, I think he's got a puncher's chance, I think Duke's got a.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Has a Clemson style upset possible in their, in their cards.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I'm not betting on it, but without him I don't think they have a chance.
- 32:22Speaker 1: But keep an eye on that space, if right it's playing it's.
- 32:25Speaker 1: it's a different ball game.
- 32:27Speaker 2: You've got a dude who can put you on his back.
- 32:28Speaker 2: That's a totally different and that's exactly.
- 32:31Speaker 1: That's really.
- 32:31Speaker 1: What I'm saying is, I think Riley Leonard is capable of having a out of body experience type game and could pull off the Dave Griffiths line upset if he's full.
- 32:39Speaker 1: If he's a full go, which right now is questionable- yeah, I think he's dead today.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Yeah, utah at USC.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Usc is six and a half point favorites.
- 32:47Speaker 1: This is a horrifically bad matchup for Utah.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Utah is a well coached, very physical team.
- 32:54Speaker 1: I understand they've got real deficiencies on offense.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Cam John, cam Rising still isn't playing and now it looks like I saw on Twitter they're talking about him red shirting this year.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Like not playing at all, like what?
- 33:06Speaker 1: Like he's, he's fine.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Oh, anyway, even with that, even that, even without that being said, this is the last thing USC needs is a physical team.
- 33:17Speaker 1: It's going to run the ball 60 times directly at that woeful defensive front of theirs.
- 33:23Speaker 1: I don't know if they win, but I got Utah covering this game and maybe, maybe, maybe, outright winning, just because I.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Usc has got a huge letdown factor.
- 33:31Speaker 1: They're going to be emotionally beat.
- 33:33Speaker 1: They're everyone's everyone's dunking on them because they should.
- 33:36Speaker 1: What do you got?
- 33:38Speaker 1: What would you say?
- 33:39Speaker 1: The spread was on this one?
- 33:40Speaker 1: Six and a half.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Usc is getting minus.
- 33:42Speaker 1: It's getting is laying six and a half points at home.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Yeah, actually like USC in this one to win and maybe cover.
- 33:49Speaker 2: So I'm going completely against you in that way because I just don't think Utah has enough To continue to compete from an offensive standpoint.
- 34:01Speaker 2: I do you tell me you don't believe in the Bryson.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Barnes, Nate Johnson dual quarterback phenomenon.
- 34:06Speaker 1: I just, I just think USC is too explosive.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I know, you know, I know that I don't think their defensive struggles will hinder them enough to lose this one at home.
- 34:18Speaker 2: What I do think would be will be an interesting matchup is USC's O line, because Utah is very physical and they can get after the quarterback.
- 34:27Speaker 2: So, you know, caleb Williams will have to make some of those eye opening plays, but I just think he will.
- 34:34Speaker 2: I just trust him.
- 34:34Speaker 2: I just think he's going to ball out and this will be a bounce back game for them.
- 34:39Speaker 2: He's certainly capable.
- 34:39Speaker 1: If I'm Kyle Winningham, utah's coach, I'm playing, keep away the whole time, shorten this game as much as possible, run the but Jesus out of the ball, keep cable games off the field and hopefully get within striking, striking distance and have a shot.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's.
- 34:55Speaker 1: That's because you know I, bryson Barnes and Nate Johnson are being put in unfair, unfair situations, being true freshman quarterbacks with their first string and second string quarterbacks out for so long.
- 35:05Speaker 1: But that's, I mean that's.
- 35:06Speaker 1: That's.
- 35:06Speaker 1: The recipe is, you know, they can't survive a shootout, they can't score, but they can't play defense, they can't be super physical.
- 35:13Speaker 1: So that could, that could.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Yeah, they're still a good team, but there's a major hole missing or a piece missing, absolutely.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Who was next?
- 35:19Speaker 1: Clamson, clamson minus three and a half at Miami.
- 35:23Speaker 1: It's not like Miami has a home for the advantage because nobody goes to those games.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Tyler Van Dyke's leg got pretty banged up in the UNC loss.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Is he good to go?
- 35:30Speaker 1: I saw this line move a little bit when the when the injury reports were coming out.
- 35:37Speaker 1: It seems like there's some real skepticism around DVD Whether he's going to play or not.
- 35:41Speaker 1: This feels like Dabo is fighting for Clemson's relatively good is fighting for Clemson's relevance.
- 35:49Speaker 1: This feels like, if they want, obviously if they lose this game, they are out of the ACC picture and at that point you're talking about three loss, all three losses in October and already like, really looking, looking rough for Clemson.
- 36:03Speaker 1: I got Clemson covering this play in the best game of the year because, frankly, they have backs against the wall and they have to have it.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Yeah, this is a Clemson win, although it is the where white game for Miami, for what that's worth, neat.
- 36:16Speaker 2: So yeah, hard rock, go for it, man.
- 36:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, this will be a Clemson win.
- 36:24Speaker 2: I don't have a lot to say, ok.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Iowa, minnesota.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Ok, so I've got, I've got just a little quick kind of little hitters on these last ones.
- 36:33Speaker 1: They'll do the Homer ones.
- 36:35Speaker 2: I'm going to speed it up, speed up.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Iowa, minnesota, is a 32 and a half over under.
- 36:40Speaker 1: That is the lowest over under in a power five football game I think I've seen, maybe ever.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Even the, even the armed forces, the Navy Air Force game is 37.
- 36:50Speaker 1: That's going to be a high scoring affair.
- 36:51Speaker 1: I took the under on this game just on principle.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Also, I want you to know that they are playing for the Floyd of Rosdale, which is a hundred pound bronze pig statue.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a beautiful one.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Yeah, the winner of the Iowa Minnesota game went to Bronze Pig.
- 37:06Speaker 1: It used to be a real pig.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Make, make the trophy game great again.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Bring the real pig back.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I want the winner of this game to play for real pig.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Bronze Pig is cool with a real pig is cooler, I agree.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Michigan and Michigan State.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Michigan State's plus 24.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Obviously, come on, Come on.
- 37:26Speaker 1: The only thing interesting here to watch is the bad blood from last year's.
- 37:28Speaker 1: But remember, there was a crazy fight in the locker room.
- 37:30Speaker 1: There was, like I think it was, legal charges handed out against some Michigan State players for a song.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Yeah, because they're.
- 37:37Speaker 2: They're concourse or one tunnel?
- 37:39Speaker 2: Yeah, there's one tunnel.
- 37:40Speaker 2: They're all standing around together, yeah.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Michigan State's bad, michigan's very good, but keep an eye on that space.
- 37:47Speaker 1: There might be some interesting story lines there.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Ucf at Oklahoma.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Oklahoma's 19 and a half points.
- 37:53Speaker 1: This, dylan Gabriel, is like third in the Heisman.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Is this going to be the Dylan Gabriel Heisman campaign game?
- 38:00Speaker 1: Is those for five, six touchdowns?
- 38:01Speaker 1: He's like third overall to win, I think, vegas odds.
- 38:05Speaker 1: So keep an eye on Dylan Gabriel's show.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Just check the stat line.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Yeah, check your fantasy.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Who's got Dylan Gabriel?
- 38:12Speaker 1: Yeah, ole Miss, minus six and a half at Auburn, jordan Hare is weird.
- 38:18Speaker 1: This is a bad matchup for Ole Miss.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Auburn plays.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Auburn plays sound defense.
- 38:23Speaker 1: I mean they're not talented, but they play sound.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Their physical and Ole Miss's defense is bad.
- 38:27Speaker 1: They are.
- 38:28Speaker 1: It's a bad, bad unit.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Jordan Hare, weird place to play.
- 38:32Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised at all if Auburn knocked off Ole Miss.
- 38:36Speaker 1: I mean honestly, like Ole Miss is exploited LSU because LSU was so bad at fundamentals we couldn't line up so many broken plays, so many missed tackles.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Auburn's not going to do that.
- 38:46Speaker 1: And on the other side of the ball you have this massive liability in Ole Miss's defense.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Like make the case for Ole Miss rolling in this one.
- 38:55Speaker 2: I just don't think Alvren's talented enough, point blank, I mean sometimes just never get a football.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 39:03Speaker 2: I mean, this is one of those games that you know it could be.
- 39:07Speaker 2: You know it's not on your radar at all.
- 39:09Speaker 2: And then you're scrolling across and you see that it's tight in the fourth and you're like, oh dang, you know this is.
- 39:15Speaker 2: This is why it's tough to win on the road in the SEC.
- 39:18Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 39:19Speaker 2: I think Ole Miss is just a flat out, much better team.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:25Speaker 1: I mean just.
- 39:25Speaker 1: I mean I've just seen enough games at Jordan Hare Ghost Sideways.
- 39:28Speaker 1: I mean we saw what happened to Georgia two weeks ago, like that with Brock Bowers.
- 39:32Speaker 1: So you know, alvren has it in him.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Jordan.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Hare has it in him.
- 39:35Speaker 2: No, I agree, I just Oklahoma State is hot.
- 39:39Speaker 1: They've knocked off both Kansas teams, which I think we're honestly pegged for the third and fourth best teams in the Big 12.
- 39:44Speaker 1: They're playing at West Virginia.
- 39:46Speaker 1: How far can Neil Brown go?
- 39:49Speaker 1: This is a good matchup.
- 39:50Speaker 1: This is awesome Under the radar.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Yeah, both teams four and two.
- 39:54Speaker 1: And both teams were like, frankly, like my gun to, was looking in like real hell.
- 39:58Speaker 1: In September we all thought Neil Browns, with the first coach, fired.
- 40:01Speaker 1: This is an undercover, really really good game.
- 40:04Speaker 1: The game is in Morgantown.
- 40:06Speaker 1: I think to be West Virginia three and a half point favorite.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Like how far can which?
- 40:10Speaker 1: Which hot team can keep it up?
- 40:12Speaker 1: Is there a little bit of a mask looking for here?
- 40:14Speaker 2: Yeah, this is a big swing game for these programs.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Yep, so that's time of the season.
- 40:17Speaker 1: That's time of the season.
- 40:18Speaker 1: All right, let's switch over to a homer time.
- 40:20Speaker 1: We have about our three or four favorite teams Actually you know what.
- 40:24Speaker 1: One more game Sorry, I'm doing additional overtime this week JMU three and a half point favorites at Marshall on Thursday night tomorrow night.
- 40:32Speaker 2: That's a good one.
- 40:33Speaker 1: This is what I'm going to watch, because the Thursday NFL games not very good.
- 40:35Speaker 1: I think it's Jacksonville and somebody.
- 40:37Speaker 1: It's not a great matchup.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Kurt Signetti and Charles Huff are two awesome coaches doing a really good job.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Marshall is really good and JMU is awesome.
- 40:45Speaker 1: This is a game you should watch.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Both of these guys could be big time offseason hires.
- 40:52Speaker 1: I mean, these are JMU three and a half point favorites.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the kind of these two coaches, that kind of guys where I think you're looking at, they're looking at power five jobs next year.
- 41:01Speaker 1: So that's going to be what you should be watching tomorrow night.
- 41:04Speaker 1: But NFL Thursday night football is not a very good game anyway.
- 41:07Speaker 1: I'll start with the homers.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Virginia Tech is on a buy.
- 41:11Speaker 1: They're off UVA plus 23 and a half at UNC, then the but I mean, what do you do about 20?
- 41:47Speaker 1: What do you do at UNC?
- 41:48Speaker 1: 24 point dogs?
- 41:50Speaker 2: Yeah, you just hope to try to cover.
- 41:51Speaker 2: I guess this is a.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just a tough spot for UVA to be in and, like you said, north Carolina is playing their best football, so yeah.
- 42:00Speaker 1: And I think UNC's defense is better than we are, and UNC's defense we all knew Drake May had that high upsides.
- 42:05Speaker 2: And their run game.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Their run game and they'll run the game and they just got one of the best weapons in Trivantes Walker back Like so I just this is a tough spot.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Hopefully UVA could build on last week's women, mary win and look, just you know, make some strides and offense.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Maybe the defensive line can show out a little bit and we'll see so.
- 42:24Speaker 1: But yeah, I got, I got.
- 42:25Speaker 1: I got UVA covering, I got UVA keeping within 23 and a half.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Let's talk about LSU and Tennessee.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Lsu is 30 point favorite at army.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Should be a fun way to cheer on the troops and kind of have them there and then I expect them to blow the doors off them.
- 42:44Speaker 1: It's going to not going to be a competitive game.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Lsu is injured.
- 42:51Speaker 1: A couple spots where we're getting a couple of dinged up, we're coming.
- 42:54Speaker 1: We got a bye week next week and then, bam, the next week.
- 42:56Speaker 1: So we're going to be starting some guys on the defensive, on the offensive line, defensive line, rotating, building up some depth.
- 43:04Speaker 2: But this is a depth game.
- 43:05Speaker 2: This is get your guys in that maybe haven't seen the field.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Get some tape on them so you can have some coaching points, some practice points.
- 43:13Speaker 1: This is Mackay Wingo, this is a practice.
- 43:16Speaker 2: This is a scrimmage.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Mackay Wingo, all American defensive tackle and Emory Jones are our.
- 43:21Speaker 1: All the CC start right tackle are both dinged up.
- 43:22Speaker 1: They're both not going to play, which is good.
- 43:24Speaker 1: We're going to get some freshmen depth out there.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Our cornerback rotation continues to be a total influx situation.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Army is not a triple option.
- 43:32Speaker 1: I didn't realize this until like last week.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Army is not a triple option attack anymore.
- 43:35Speaker 1: They are more traditional, uh pro style passing attacks.
- 43:38Speaker 1: So we will see some ballstone around.
- 43:40Speaker 1: So we'll we'll get.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Won't be a schematic um challenge like it usually is, but yeah, I think I much for that.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Um.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Last but not least, this is, if not the biggest game, second biggest game, ut.
- 43:52Speaker 1: They are plus nine at Bama.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Um, you go first.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Um, yeah, this is a big one.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Obviously third Saturday in October.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Um, both of these teams are so drastically different than they were last year.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Last year score 52 to 49 over under this game, 48 points.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Well, first, one to 30 wins the game.
- 44:13Speaker 2: I don't know if we're, I don't know if either team will hit 30.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Both of these offenses have been struggling Bama's 10th in the SEC and passing eighth in the SEC and rushing complete.
- 44:22Speaker 2: You know, middle, mediocre, mid offense, Um, where you see the exceptional talent and the elite units on this on these teams.
- 44:34Speaker 2: So, on defense, both teams have a great pass rush tops in the country on both sides of the ball and are on both sides for sacks Third and fourth in the NCAA currently for both teams and sacks.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Um, so it's, it's going to be a rock fight.
- 44:52Speaker 2: It's going to be nasty.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Which team is going to be able to hit a couple of those shot plays?
- 44:56Speaker 2: You know Milrow has survived on that a little bit, but both quarterbacks surprisingly, Surprisingly, equal when you look at them statistically.
- 45:06Speaker 2: So they've you know it's going to be who's going to show up, who's going to make some key plays.
- 45:10Speaker 2: The big difference to me is Tennessee's run game, Number one rushing offense in the SEC.
- 45:20Speaker 2: They can do it against good defenses.
- 45:22Speaker 2: They did it against Annem, who had been one of the best rush defenses in the in the SEC.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Um, that's where I see a little bit of a difference.
- 45:29Speaker 2: Um, what are you seeing?
- 45:31Speaker 1: I mean I love Tennessee's trio right, Small and Samson, I think are awesome backs and I think I mean I think obviously Tennessee is going to lean on that and they should, especially because tennis, alabama's front this is this is, this is a classic gamble.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Four or five years ago that would never happen against Alabama's front seven.
- 45:46Speaker 1: This is not your, your uncle's Alabama's front seven.
- 45:50Speaker 1: They are vulnerable, they are gettable.
- 45:51Speaker 1: So I think Tennessee is going to lean on that.
- 45:53Speaker 1: I think you can expect Tennessee to rush, for some reason, 150 and 200 yards.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Um, I think they're probably going to end zone and get get in the end zone a couple of times, once or twice.
- 46:03Speaker 1: I think you're right.
- 46:04Speaker 1: I think the the the over under is 49,.
- 46:06Speaker 1: The implied total of this game is like 28, 21.
- 46:10Speaker 1: If Tennessee is going to win that game, they're going to need four scores and I think two of those are going to come from the run game.
- 46:14Speaker 1: You can count on that.
- 46:15Speaker 1: I think the other two have to come from Milton, one way or another.
- 46:18Speaker 1: I don't know if it's going to be easier to um, throw the needle on the red zone on a broken play or a scramble, or to hit a deep shot.
- 46:26Speaker 1: I think if, if Milton shows up looks like he did at Clemson, I think, uh, the bowl game last year I think I think Tennessee wins If he shows up, looks like he did in Gainesville, it's not close, I really think.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I mean, I just I hate to sound so square on this, but I really think it comes down to Milrow or Milton and who's going to make one or two more of the bigger plays.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Um, this Milton has a chance this weekend to enshrine himself as a Tennessee legend.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Um, and he has the supporting cast to do that.
- 46:55Speaker 1: He does need more out of his wide receivers.
- 46:58Speaker 2: He needs wide receivers to step up.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Yeah we've had some, some no show games from the whiteouts.
- 47:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:04Speaker 1: I'm a little disappointed.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Obviously, what happened to Bruma Koy was devastating.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Hopefully he can fully recover and get back.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Um, I'm a little disappointed.
- 47:10Speaker 1: I, you know my, my Ramel Keaton hot take was him to be.
- 47:13Speaker 1: They have to have him to be a monster.
- 47:15Speaker 1: This season has not been there yet.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Um, that drop last weekend's tennis a Texas A&M, was horrifically bad.
- 47:20Speaker 2: He dropped a touchdown early against UVA on a deep ball too.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and the thing is I mean that was honestly one of the criticisms of Milton was like he doesn't have good job of putting touch on the ball.
- 47:28Speaker 1: That ball was laid in, there was per.
- 47:32Speaker 1: That was one of the best touch passes that we've seen Milton throw and Keaton hit him, hit him, his hands, he dropped it.
- 47:37Speaker 1: All that's aside, it doesn't matter if you beat, it doesn't matter if he brings down those balls this week.
- 47:42Speaker 1: So I think I think Tennessee's got a real shot at winning this game.
- 47:45Speaker 1: I think I think Bama was very gettable in Tuscalo's.
- 47:47Speaker 1: They've already lost.
- 47:49Speaker 1: They've already lost one of the Texas this year.
- 47:50Speaker 1: There they are not.
- 47:52Speaker 1: They are.
- 47:52Speaker 1: They're very vulnerable.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Milton or Mel Keaton, squirrel White, I think that's the thing, that that's going to be the difference.
- 47:58Speaker 1: If Tennessee's version of them plays really well, they're going to win.
- 48:02Speaker 1: If not, I got at Bama winning 28-14.
- 48:05Speaker 2: That's right.
- 48:06Speaker 2: Yeah, when, when you, when you look on paper, both of these teams, statistically extremely, even, extremely even across the board, and Bama gets it at home, logic would tell me Bama buy a field goal, but I, just I got to go Vols buy a field goal.
- 48:22Speaker 2: It's close, yeah, I, I, you know why not, let's go.
- 48:26Speaker 1: I'm picking Vols to cover too.
- 48:27Speaker 1: I think I think this is just going to be a close game because honestly, I don't.
- 48:30Speaker 1: I mean for for the ups and downs of both teams, and neither teams at this point have proven the ability to have that killer instinct, to have the, to have it, to put that, put the game away.
- 48:39Speaker 1: In these situations, miller or Nor Milton have really shown us they can do that.
- 48:43Speaker 1: So either way, I think it will be close and, yeah, tennessee's got a real bunch of chance here.
- 48:47Speaker 1: I think that's all I got for both review and preview.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Anything else you want to hit on touch on this week or next, or yeah, let's, let me ask you one quick question.
- 48:58Speaker 2: Sure, what is your biggest surprise in college football this season?
- 49:02Speaker 2: Could be a player, could be a team biggest surprise Hit, hit, hit me with it before we log off.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I think I've kind of lived a couple of times I think it's been.
- 49:10Speaker 1: I mean, there's been a couple of like weird things, like Baylor being so bad, just wild.
- 49:14Speaker 1: I think a lot of these transfer.
- 49:17Speaker 1: The biggest surprise to me, actually, and thematically, has been so many transfer quarterbacks not working out.
- 49:25Speaker 1: I didn't, I underestimated the plug and play.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Sam Hartman has been good, not great.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Devon Leary not good.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Bren Armstrong not good.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Phil Jacobic, just straight up switch positions.
- 49:39Speaker 1: You've seen this happen in a lot of places.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Peyton Thorn isn't doing much for Auburn.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Graham Mertz, I guess, is okay, like there's, just hasn't been.
- 49:47Speaker 1: I thought that quarterback would transfer easier than it has.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I think halfway through the season we're seeing it's tough to learn it off, as it's tough to get the, get the scheme, to get in the same page of these guys, to build a rhythm, to build rapport and to run these offenses.
- 50:03Speaker 1: And so far through the season the transfer quarterback has not been the silver bullet that I thought it was going to be.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Frankly, yeah, I think that's completely valid.
- 50:13Speaker 2: I think you know you're seeing that a lot, with a lot of chaos thrown in with the transfer portal, yeah, a lot of things that are unsettled and still unsettled, and shaking out and that's going to continue to change the landscape of the game for the next couple of years.
- 50:26Speaker 1: What do you got Halfway through the season?
- 50:27Speaker 1: What's?
- 50:27Speaker 1: What sticks out to you is biggest, biggest surprise of the season.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Biggest surprise of the season the strength of the ACC maybe and the strength of the Pac-12.
- 50:35Speaker 2: I think, just seeing the depth of of some of these other conferences that that maybe haven't been as strong top to bottom and I would kind of butt that up against the, maybe the, the sort of downswing of the SEC a little bit this year Still a lot of really good teams, but just a little shift in the, in the, in the power rankings when you look at kind of the, the conferences across the board.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Again, more parody, yeah.
- 51:04Speaker 1: These will be fun to retake because obviously all those quarterbacks still have six more games to prove themselves, except for Phil Jacobic who is now a tight end.
- 51:10Speaker 1: But all these guys have never changed themselves.
- 51:11Speaker 1: And also, you know, we're going to find about the ACC and the Pac-12 down the stretch.
- 51:15Speaker 1: You know, do they cannibalize themselves Like at the very end?
- 51:18Speaker 1: Are we sitting?
- 51:19Speaker 1: Are we looking at a playoff again with Georgia, alabama, michigan, ohio state, like they could be?
- 51:24Speaker 1: There's a world where that happens again.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:26Speaker 2: I mean that's true, but I still think it rings true, regardless of how the playoff I mean it's not just about the playoff You've had.
- 51:33Speaker 2: You've got good teams, you've got the emergence of Duke, you know.
- 51:36Speaker 2: You've got Miami has has done some things um UNC, exactly yeah.
- 51:41Speaker 2: I mean you've got teams that are solid, solid teams, yeah.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Louisville Jeff Brom, let me obviously tough loss last week but overall look awesome.
- 51:48Speaker 1: But yeah, no, I agree.
