- 1:03All right, ladies and gentlemen, the NFL Whip around.
- 1:10Whip, whip, whip around. OK guys, welcome back to the
- 1:15Whip Around the Giants. We're going to start with the
- 1:18Giants and Jets. We've mentioned it already
- 1:20tonight when we had Howard Cross on.
- 1:22The Giants have hired former Bears head coach and most
- 1:26recently offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs, Matt
- 1:29Nagy as their offensive coordinator and Errol.
- 1:32In the last hour, news came in that the Giants have also hired
- 1:37Greg Roman to a yet undecided role as probably an assistant
- 1:43offensive head coach and run game coordinator would be my
- 1:45guess. And they are going to kind of go
- 1:49with. Both of those.
- 1:50This is very jet like. What are the Giants doing right
- 1:55now? If you don't think that Matt and
- 1:56Naggy is the guy, why would you bring Roman in?
- 1:59It makes no sense. It really doesn't.
- 2:01I don't care what you Giant fans are saying.
- 2:03Kingsbury was the guy. He was the guy he interviewed
- 2:07twice and you didn't hire him and then you bring in Matt and
- 2:10Naggy. I understand John John, John
- 2:13Harpel has a connection with Andy Reid.
- 2:15This doesn't make sense. And it now you have Matt Naggy
- 2:19and Roman calling plays or you don't know who's going to call
- 2:22plays. This is the same thing the New
- 2:24York Jets did when Robert Solo was there.
- 2:26It doesn't make sense. So this is an absolute failure.
- 2:31I think this is this is this is going to this is what tells me
- 2:36this is sayonara to Joe Shane at the end of the season.
- 2:39I do not see this working at all.
- 2:41Matt Nagy won't be there. Roman won't be there.
- 2:43John Harbour will be there because he's getting paid a lot
- 2:46of money. This.
- 2:47This isn't going to. Work.
- 2:47Yeah. When Matt Nagy got hired as the
- 2:49Bears head coach at the time, his first year, it looked pretty
- 2:51good. The concepts he was and he's got
- 2:53really stale I think after Year 2 and obviously the whole feud
- 2:56with Fields and that's why he got fired and it just really
- 2:59doesn't work. I don't think his offense has
- 3:01really gotten been that innovative.
- 3:02I think outside of maybe the five games of the beginning of
- 3:04the year with the Chiefs when they actually had everyone hurt,
- 3:06I don't think he really got speedy.
- 3:08Bad. You're a giant fan.
- 3:09You're bringing in two offensive coordinators sharing the play
- 3:13calling. Does this make sense to?
- 3:15You. Yeah, Greg and Greg and Greg
- 3:16Roman, like he kind of contradicts himself too, where
- 3:19he went past happy in the beginning of the year and then
- 3:21stopped doing that once his running backs got hurt.
- 3:23This tells me that John Harbaugh has no game plan.
- 3:27That's what it tells me, ladies and gentlemen.
- 3:29Here's here's what I've read the theoretical part of this why it
- 3:33would make sense. His Roman is was obviously the
- 3:36offensive coordinator in Baltimore for a while with with
- 3:40Harbaugh and he's a run specialist.
- 3:43Maggie is a pass specialist so you ideally would have one be a
- 3:49run game coordinator. Maggies never had good run games
- 3:52ever, so maybe this is kind of complimenting his flaws.
- 3:57Then hire a guy that does both. Hire the guy that does both.
- 4:01That makes no sense. Hire a guy that knows how to
- 4:05call both. Kingsbury would have been the
- 4:07perfect fit. It would have fit like a glove.
- 4:10You. Hired.
- 4:11You think Joe Shane was going to get this right?
- 4:13You really think he was going to get?
- 4:14What an embarrassment for the New York Giants.
- 4:17Get into The Jets. Then, as kind of expected, The
- 4:20Jets went out and hired Frank Reich to be their offensive
- 4:24coordinator. He's been a head coach a couple
- 4:26of times in the league. He famously was offensive
- 4:29coordinator when the Eagles made their first Super Bowl run.
- 4:35He's got experience. This is what we were saying.
- 4:38The Jets need is a play caller with experience so they can
- 4:41focus on getting that defense right.
- 4:42He played for The Jets, so he understands the organization.
- 4:46He almost got the head coaching job a couple of years ago.
- 4:49This is a good competent offensive coordinator.
- 4:52Was he the guy that The Jets absolutely wanted?
- 4:55No. They wanted John Gruden.
- 4:56They failed on that because John Gruden was not going to be
- 4:59second fiddle to Aaron Glenn. We all understand that.
- 5:02But Frank Wright is a competent guy.
- 5:04He's won two super balls as an offensive coordinator.
- 5:07This is a man that understands how to run a good offense.
- 5:10I I think it's a slam dunk for The Jets.
- 5:13And if Aaron Glenn's going to have his job safe for him, it's
- 5:16it's got to be Frank Wright's offense.
- 5:18He understood that they can't go into a second season with a
- 5:23rookie offensive play caller. They need to bring in a veteran
- 5:26guy that understands how to run the offense and him run the
- 5:28defense. I think it's a slam dunk for The
- 5:30Jets, yeah. The Colts and the Panthers both
- 5:33had offenses when he when he was there that needed time to build
- 5:36up. Obviously, Andrew Luck was
- 5:38there, which helped, but he was never healthy at the time.
- 5:39And the Colts were supposed to be one of the worst teams in the
- 5:41league that year and ended up making the playoffs in Carolina.
- 5:44I I mean, the organization wanted to draft Rice Young and
- 5:46he wanted to draft CJ Stroud. That was a big tipping point.
- 5:49But Even so, they still move the ball.
- 5:51OK, They still had a competent enough team and then they fire
- 5:53him randomly in the middle of the season.
- 5:54It didn't make much sense. Now, if The Jets avoid that kind
- 5:56of situation where he could actually coach the quarterback
- 5:58that he wants to coach, that'll be a different story.
- 6:00But we'll see with Woody Johnson and Aaron Glenn if they actually
- 6:02allow him to do that. I don't know if Frank Reich's
- 6:05ever played for. Is anybody watching this award
- 6:08show? Puka Nakua and his mother are
- 6:10dancing in their seat to E40. Does anybody he's they're both
- 6:15singing and dancing in their seat.
- 6:18It's it's crazy. We could have This is what we're
- 6:21missing. Errol right now is E4 O.
- 6:24We could be dancing to right. Now that's what we want to do.
- 6:28Now we want to go to the next topic, which this one should
- 6:32have happened a long time ago, Errol.
- 6:33Travis Kelsey doing his little shimmy.
- 6:36No Taylor Swift there, that's for sure.
- 6:38God, I'm sorry, I had to do. That no, it's all right.
- 6:40We've talked about this how the Rooney rules of farce and it's
- 6:44been just you know this like box you have to check before you
- 6:48hire the guy you want to hire. It's and it and it leads to like
- 6:52people haven't hurt feelings. Brian Flores had hurt feelings
- 6:55over it still does had led to that lawsuit.
- 6:58Probably why he's not a head coach.
- 7:01Goodell came out, I believe is the beginning of this week or
- 7:05late last week saying that they're going to re evaluate the
- 7:09Rooney Rule this offseason. What does that mean?
- 7:13And see if they need to update how it's done, they need to may
- 7:17whether get rid of it completely or fix it, amend it perhaps.
- 7:22So Errol, what do you think about this interesting rule
- 7:26that's been in the league for about?
- 7:27I think Roger Goodell is a complete moron.
- 7:29So I mean, if you really want to know my take on it, I mean, the
- 7:32Rooney Rule should be allowed it.
- 7:34It team should be interviewing African American coaches.
- 7:38There should be more African American coaches in the NFL.
- 7:41There's no question. And I understand why Goodell
- 7:45and, and the league brought it in and, and why ownership,
- 7:48ownerships and, and, and Rooney from the Pittsburgh Steelers
- 7:52brought that to the, you know, brought that to the league.
- 7:55The only thing that I hate about it is even with it, they're
- 7:58still not hiring African American coaches.
- 8:01Still with having these Rooney rules.
- 8:03Eric B Enemy has been interviewing how many times?
- 8:07He interviewed like 20 something times and never got a head
- 8:10coaching job. I don't want to hear that he's a
- 8:12bad interviewer. How bad could you be?
- 8:15Honestly, this guy has been one of the better offensive
- 8:18coordinators in the league. I know he's playing, he's
- 8:20coaching under Andy Reid, he still has a prolific offense,
- 8:23he's coaching Patrick Mahomes, and he knows how to run a team.
- 8:27So why hasn't Eric B Enemy ever been hired?
- 8:29I don't want to hear because he was drunk and he's had his back
- 8:32end of problems in the past. So have every but every single
- 8:36other coach. How about this?
- 8:37Sean Payton had problems popping pills.
- 8:40He still got a job. He's still got an offer.
- 8:43Sean Payton, who was a drug addict.
- 8:45So how many times do we have to go by?
- 8:47Pete Carroll had a drinking problem in the early years when
- 8:50he was coaching and he was an offensive coordinator.
- 8:52I'm sorry, defensive coordinator for the New England Patriots.
- 8:55He got a job. He became a head coach in the
- 8:58NFL and won national championships.
- 9:00Come on, guys. This is an absolute bogus
- 9:03situation. Goodell needs to fix this.
- 9:06These guys need to get an opportunity.
- 9:07Brian Flores needs to get a job, and so does Eric B Enemy I.
- 9:12I think these guys are long overdue.
- 9:14Yeah, the bigger problem I think is the owners, because I think
- 9:16you have a lot of these guys that are just still stuck in
- 9:18their old ways. And I think you're seeing even
- 9:20one of these when these ownerships that are previously
- 9:22thought of as bad hiring minority candidates.
- 9:25It's to say, oh, we finally did it for once after going through
- 9:27a scandal, takes a team with the Texans who did it two years in a
- 9:30row but then fired both of those guys.
- 9:31Now they hired to Mecca Ryan, which is good, but think about
- 9:33the two teams before that too. And then all those teams in the
- 9:36Brian Flores lawsuit, the Lions, the Giants, teams like that that
- 9:39don't hire minority coaches and. By the way, I just want to I
- 9:42want to say congratulations to the new MVP of the NFLI.
- 9:47Know we're going to be talking about it on Monday.
- 9:48Matthew Stafford, congratulations to him.
- 9:50That's AI well deserved. I do not believe Mike Frapple
- 9:54should be coach of the year. That's just my opinion.
- 9:56Mike McDonald should have won coach of the year.
- 9:58I disagree. Well, we'll find out that one on
- 10:00Sunday. Who deserved that one the best?
- 10:02I think that's that's a great point.
- 10:03Yeah. We'll talk about that on Monday.
- 10:05Let's move on, Speedy and Errol, to Matt Ryan, who is now the
- 10:12president of the Atlanta Falcons.
- 10:15Oh God, please. Came out and said that he is not
- 10:19committing to Michael Pennix junior necessarily as the
- 10:23starting quarterback for the team next season.
- 10:27What is he hanging on? Kirk Cousins?
- 10:30I mean, come on, this is ridiculous.
- 10:33Well, I mean, or is he going to go for someone in the draft?
- 10:37Is this a Carson Beck landing spot?
- 10:40You know, at the top of the second?
- 10:41He be an idiot. He be an absolute idiot.
- 10:44He's got Michael Pennix who looked really good ever since
- 10:48he's come into the league. He's obviously he can't stay
- 10:50healthy, but the guy has a tremendous amount of talent.
- 10:53He was a first round talent, very well built as far as
- 10:57throwing arm, can move inside and out of the pocket.
- 11:00He can throw the ball as good as anybody in the league.
- 11:03I think when you hear Matt Ryan come out and say that he's not
- 11:06committed to him just tells you how stupid Matt Ryan is.
- 11:09It's an absolute debacle. Matt Ryan's an idiot.
- 11:11Yeah, it doesn't make sense when they don't have a first round
- 11:13pick to go for a quarterback in this class, which you're not
- 11:16going to have any guarantees really.
- 11:18And I think panics, I'm not saying to like extend him or
- 11:21commit to a fifth year option because of his injury risk, but
- 11:24at least give him much of a chance to see how he comes back
- 11:26before you say, all right, I'm not going to go commits him.
- 11:27It just makes you look bad for an organization that doesn't
- 11:30really do. He's been there for two years.
- 11:31You're going to give up on a quarterback in that you drafted
- 11:34in the first round in two years? Yeah, there's no concern.
- 11:38When he comes back and he doesn't play well, that's
- 11:40different. He played well every time he was
- 11:43healthy. He looked pretty good.
- 11:44You're going to. You're not going to commit to.
- 11:46It not now it's stupid, yeah. It doesn't make sense.
- 11:49It just says it shows you how incompetent Matt Ryan is.
- 11:52It's a dumb move. Absolutely dumb move.
- 11:55Matt Ryan, you should be fired just because you announced that.
- 11:59Sounds like it sounds like he's going to be drafting a
- 12:01quarterback, Errol. That's what it sounds like to
- 12:03me. It sounds stupid.
- 12:05We'll save the Hall of Fame story, and we'll just do that
- 12:07all next week. The Pro Bowl recap mentioned in
- 12:12the rundown. Please.
- 12:13I don't. I don't know if you caught any
- 12:15of it. I did.
- 12:15I caught some of it. I mean, they're playing
- 12:18dodgeball. Nitin could run faster than
- 12:20those guys during the game. Well, we've seen Nitin running.
- 12:24We both know that's not true. You're probably right.
- 12:26I don't know, with those extra leashes he might be motivated.
- 12:29You're probably right. So it would be one of those like
- 12:33races where they got the dogs and you're like pulling the
- 12:36pulling the chariot and Nathan's like, you know.
- 12:39I'm putting her on a leash now. Yeah.
- 12:44So. The big event was the seven on 7
- 12:47flag football match between the AFC and NFC.
- 12:51There was some cool plays. George Pickens was the offensive
- 12:54MVP, Antoine Winfield junior, the NFC defensive MVP, but I
- 13:01mean, it's it's wild. They did a really cool thing
- 13:05that I don't know if you know about this.
- 13:06This is actually the only cool thing I thought of the entire
- 13:09Pro Bowl other than watching Miles Garrett be better than
- 13:12everybody else at dodgeball as well as football.
- 13:15But I when I was teaching in Florida.
- 13:18Errol girls flag football is a varsity sport in high schools
- 13:23all throughout the state of Florida and NFL flag high school
- 13:26girls showcase took place at the Pro Bowl.
- 13:30It was much. Better.
- 13:31Much better than watching the pros.
- 13:33Much better. So I I thought that it was nice
- 13:37that they did some of that stuff.
- 13:38Errol, how'd you like the Pro Bowl?
- 13:40Pathetic they got to get rid of it.
- 13:42I don't want to watch it anymore.
- 13:44I I do not know why they're even bringing it to Super Bowl week.
- 13:50It it's dumb. It's stupid.
- 13:52What is it? What does it do for the players
- 13:53when you have Shador Sanders, who's a third string quarterback
- 13:57starting in the game? It's embarrassing.
- 13:59They reached out to Justin Fields of the New York Jets and
- 14:02he declined to go to the Super. I mean, go to the Pro Bowl game.
- 14:07I mean, because it's embarrassing.
- 14:09He was embarrassed about the season he had and should Dor
- 14:13should be embarrassed for the season he had as a third or
- 14:16fourth string quarterback. K going into the season, he was
- 14:18a fourth string quarterback because they had Kenny Pickett
- 14:20there. Kenny Pickett.
- 14:22So I, I it's pathetic, absolutely pathetic.
- 14:26Get rid of it. It was already losing loss
- 14:27anyway, and now it's lost. Get rid of it.
- 14:30Get rid of it, Goodell. Just get rid of it.
- 14:33Have like this skills competition or something.
- 14:35Do something with this. Speedy, what skill would you do
- 14:39if you had to do the skills competition?
- 14:41I got the list of them here. We got the precision passing,
- 14:44the catch drills, dodgeball, tug of war or relay races.
- 14:50I would. I'll take my chance with the
- 14:51dodgeball. I would do this is what I would
- 14:53do. I would just rehearse the
- 14:55combine again. Have them do the combine again
- 14:59in front of the fans and see if they can keep up what they did
- 15:01when they were younger. See that would be fun to watch
- 15:04to see if they can run the 40 as fast as they did when they were.
- 15:07I know they can't. But you know, they would never
- 15:10do that, you know, runners. But but you know the
- 15:13competition, but you know the competition, you know they're
- 15:16going to want to win. You guys got like Michael
- 15:18Parsons running, you know, in a skills competition trying to
- 15:21beat out quarterbacks or beat out like Lamar Jackson.
- 15:24I'm telling you right now to be more competitive watching
- 15:27something like the combine, like a pro combine than watching this
- 15:31garbage on television. I don't want to see tug of war.
- 15:34That's stupid too. I don't even want to watch that.
- 15:37I, I'm telling you, do the combine in a pro area like a pro
- 15:42style and I, I guarantee you the players will want to do that.
- 15:46I guarantee you, because they're going to want to compete against
- 15:48each other and compete against themselves for what they did 567
- 15:52years ago or however long they they haven't been in the
- 15:55combine. I think that would be more
- 15:56interesting. If you would ask me, that's the
- 15:58route I would go. nhl.com's Dan Rosen reported on Wednesday that
- 16:05the New York Rangers have traded our Tammy Panarin to the LA
- 16:10Kings. The Rangers will receive Wait
- 16:14until you hear this one. The Rangers will receive right
- 16:17wing prospect Liam Roundtree and a conditional 2026 third round
- 16:23pick if the Kings win one round in the playoffs.
- 16:26The pick will become a second round pick if they win multiple
- 16:30rounds. The Rangers will also get a
- 16:33fourth round pick for Artemi Pinarin, one of the best
- 16:40offensive players still in the NHL today.
- 16:43Have I think going into the All Star break, Well, it's around
- 16:47the corner, the All Star break, I think he has like 54.
- 16:49Points. 57 points. 19 goals, 38 assists.
- 16:53He's one of the best offensive players still in the NHL.
- 16:56I don't care if he's 34. The fact that he's going to the
- 16:58Kings, that's a complete upgrade.
- 17:01Liam Roundtree, I don't know much about him.
- 17:02I, I read a little bit about him.
- 17:05I don't even know if he'll be ready to be in the NHL for
- 17:07another two or three years. So you're, you're talking about
- 17:11a 23 year old that might not be NHL bound until he's 26.
- 17:15So I, it doesn't make any sense. And that shows you how bad Chris
- 17:20Drury is as AGM. Everybody I have spoken to, so
- 17:24many Ranger fans, guys, so many Ranger fans saying we're going
- 17:28to get a first for him and probably a top six type of
- 17:33player for a guy like Panera or we're going to get a top 6
- 17:36player or a first round draft pick.
- 17:38They didn't get neither, ladies and gentlemen, they didn't get
- 17:41neither. They might not even get a second
- 17:44round pick for him. He's probably going to stay with
- 17:46the Kings next year. He's going to probably re sign
- 17:49with them. They're good, they're young,
- 17:50they're talented and he's going to love LA.
- 17:53He's been in New York for a while now.
- 17:55It's warm all the time over there.
- 17:56Practically. He's going to love the beaches,
- 17:59he's going to love the surfing and he doesn't have to worry
- 18:01about the New York media anymore.
- 18:03I think it's a slam dunk for the, the, the Kings being being
- 18:07that he's going to LA and he's going to get a chance to play
- 18:09with some really good young players.
- 18:12I, I think this is an absolute slap in the face.
- 18:14If you're a Ranger fan right now and you're rooting for Chris
- 18:18Drury to keep his job, then you guys are complete morons.
- 18:22Morons because this guy should have lost his job last year and
- 18:27the fact that he still has it this year and you hear James
- 18:30Dolan go on Craig Carton show and say, well, I have trusted
- 18:34Chris, Chris Drury. Really, you got trust in this
- 18:38guy. He's hired 3 coaches.
- 18:39He's fired 4 while he's fired, I'm sorry, he's hired 3.
- 18:43He's been there for four and he's fired three of them.
- 18:46So it it doesn't make any sense. I I think he's he's been a
- 18:50debacle to the organization. He's made this organization look
- 18:53like a second tier organization that has spent money and thought
- 18:58they've drafted right. They made a mistake.
- 19:00Quit laughing here. That wasn't his guy.
- 19:02Capo Capoco wasn't his guy either, but the guys that he has
- 19:06drafted since then in the four and a half, five years he's been
- 19:10there. None of those guys, I repeat,
- 19:13none of those guys have played fifty or more games on this
- 19:18roster. That tells me this organization
- 19:21is doomed. They have no future and nothing
- 19:25to look forward to, and they better hope that McKenna falls
- 19:29to them and and maybe they get a they move up and get a
- 19:32defenseman because they got a they're going to need a lot more
- 19:36than what their draft stock is this year.
- 19:39They have a tremendous, A tremendous amount of work to do
- 19:45in the next couple of years to make this team a competent team.
- 19:48They're terrible. Yeah, it's a bad move.
- 19:49When you look at the like the Rangers, if they were going to
- 19:52get anything close to what you were saying, 1/3, a second round
- 19:54pick, a first round pick or a top six player that.
- 19:57Could be that's what they said. That they were going to, Yeah.
- 19:59They were only going to do that if they waited and actually had
- 20:02a bidding war with other teams. Instead, they do it impulsively,
- 20:05like you had the whole Olympic break to try to figure it out,
- 20:07like make those teams come for them because things can change.
- 20:11You're going to tell me you can't get a top six player for
- 20:13one of? Them, they were never going to
- 20:15do that now they might have done it in two weeks when teams are
- 20:18going to fight with each. Other Carolina might have made a
- 20:20move for him. I mean, the Rangers already
- 20:23giving up on a season, so who cares?
- 20:25The Florida Panthers could have traded away one of their good
- 20:27young talented players or good offensive options as a top six
- 20:32player to get Panera because he wanted to go to Florida.
- 20:34If they just waited and it, it's pathetic.
- 20:38Incite A bidding war. I I mentioned mainly the West
- 20:40teams. I think there were more W teams
- 20:42involved. It was really Carolina or
- 20:43Florida and maybe Washington. Sorry to cut you off.
- 20:46Think about it. Think.
- 20:47Think about what the Islanders got for Brock Nelson last year.
- 20:51Think about it. They got a guy that was drafted
- 20:54in the first round, a top end talent in their farm system from
- 20:58Colorado, Callum Ritchie, who's in on their roster right now as
- 21:02we speak on on 1/3 line, who could be a second line winger in
- 21:06the future for this team. All right, They and they they
- 21:10got two first round draft picks, 2 that this last year and this
- 21:15year coming up from Colorado. It to me, it's it's absolutely a
- 21:20debacle for the New York Rangers not to get as much as the
- 21:25Islanders got for Brock Nelson. To me it was just a terrible,
- 21:29terrible train. Yeah, Brock Nelson is not
- 21:31anywhere close to now. Brock Nelson's been a streaky
- 21:33goal scorer in his career. Good face off guy, but not the
- 21:36same level of offensive talent. Speed wise, skating.
- 21:38The Panarin is Panarin. There's enough teams out there.
- 21:42You talk about Carolina, they've had a pattern of trading for
- 21:44these wings all the time. They could have waited.
- 21:46And the Rangers, they're not afraid to trade in the Eastern
- 21:48Conference either. We've seen them trade with the
- 21:50Devils. They just recently traded with
- 21:51the Islanders. Grace.
- 21:52It was just Carson Soucy, but still, like you're not looking
- 21:54at the Capitals. They trade with the Capitals a
- 21:56bunch too. Like that was another team that
- 21:58was interested and would have extended him.
- 21:59The Kings looks like they're going to extend him too.
- 22:02That's the other problem. Three years they're.
- 22:04Probably going to give him a two year deal.
- 22:05Probably maybe 3. You're hearing 3.
- 22:08That's the other problem. You would think, OK, you, you
- 22:10know, a team's going to extend a player.
- 22:12Oh, we should get more value for that than it would be for a
- 22:14rental team. Like it's different if you trade
- 22:17him to a team that knows they're not going to keep him.
- 22:19Maybe, again, maybe a team like Vegas, maybe a team like Dallas
- 22:21and maybe he's going for a one year type run where the Kings, I
- 22:23think he's actually thought of as a long, not a long term
- 22:26option, but a long enough term option with a team that's really
- 22:29young. Think about this we the the
- 22:31Rangers might never see Liam Roundtree in the NHL and right
- 22:37now it's a third round pick that could be a second round pick,
- 22:40which might be a second round pick and we are do you trust
- 22:43that Chris Drury is going to make the right decisions at in
- 22:47the second round this coming year in 2026 after what we've.
- 22:50Seen crown tree had like 109.19 points in the OHL last.
- 22:53That's fine. 19 year old that does a 19 year old.
- 22:56The Rangers have messed with better prospects.
- 22:58I understand he's 20 years old. He's 62210 and he's going to be
- 23:03a power forward. It's not.
- 23:05Didn't they say this about? Perot.
- 23:07Didn't they say this about Perot when he was playing college
- 23:10hockey and all? This guy is going to be a 3040
- 23:13goal scorer. He's the guy who went pro at
- 23:15age, but he went pro at like age 16 into the O to like these guys
- 23:19and he's been playing junior hockey.
- 23:20He's a Canadian on the circuit. It's not an American College
- 23:23guy. I I'm trying to be hopeful, but
- 23:26I know you're probably right. Errol.
- 23:28I I've seen just bad decision after bad decision by Chris
- 23:32Drury this entire tenure that he's been here.
- 23:35They try. He tried to make it out like it
- 23:37was all John Davidson's fault before he left.
- 23:40I, I, you know, I don't know how you be successful as John
- 23:43Davidson when you have Chris jury in in that like a fox in
- 23:46the hen house, I'm assuming to get that job.
- 23:49I can't imagine what that was like that dynamic.
- 23:51And John Davidson was a Rangers legend, legendary broadcaster as
- 23:55well, owner and then all the stuff he did with the Blues,
- 23:58right like that. You would think that that guy
- 24:00deserved more respect than he got.
- 24:03But you know, you know, look as as lucky as a Knicks fan I am
- 24:08that Dolan went with Leon Rose. He also went with Chris Drury.
- 24:12Well, and in the past, he went with Isaiah Thomas.
- 24:15He went with Phil Jackson. He makes more bad choices than
- 24:18good choices historically. I would worry if I'm the Rangers
- 24:23and I'm the Rangers fans. I'm a Ranger fan going into the
- 24:28offseason and trusting that Chris Drury is going to make the
- 24:30right decisions in free agency and drafting.
- 24:34He's given up a lot of talent. He's given up on players that he
- 24:37should have kept. Goudreau was a guy that I think
- 24:40they should have kept last year. Was it last year or the year
- 24:43before? The year before that, during the
- 24:46trade deadline when he told Goudreau he's going to keep him
- 24:48and then he traded him because he didn't want to move his kids
- 24:52in the middle of the year. And he pretty much screwed
- 24:55Goudreau. He screwed a lot of people.
- 24:57He's the prototypical type of guy that you don't want to run
- 25:02your organization. And I'm telling you right now,
- 25:04it is going to cost this organization for the next 5 to 6
- 25:09years if this guy is running this band of idiots, and I mean
- 25:14band of idiots, because James Dolan doesn't know what he's
- 25:17doing and his assistant GM does not know what he's doing and he
- 25:22does not know what he's doing. And, and by the way, Sullivan
- 25:25will be here for another year and he'll probably say, I don't
- 25:29want to be here anymore. Get Me Out of here, Sullivan.
- 25:32Just remember something Sullivan and when he was over there with
- 25:36Pittsburgh, he was coaching a young Sidney Crosby, a young
- 25:40Malkin and and one of the best defenseman in the NHL.
- 25:44So who all three of these guys are going to be?
- 25:47Hall of Farmers, so. Just so you know, Errol, we got
- 25:50some inside Intel breaking into the backstage earlier tonight
- 25:54when our new intern Dom had an inside source from Penn State
- 25:59that McKenna from the bar was there when McKenna got into this
- 26:04fight that left the other guy bloodied.
- 26:07Apparently someone was talking smack about Mckenna's mom,
- 26:11turned around and beat the shit out of the guy.
- 26:13That doesn't make me like him less.
- 26:15That makes me like him more. And bring him to New York, boys,
- 26:19I'm all in. Go get me that guy.
- 26:21Well. You're out of your minds and
- 26:23that doesn't mean. I'll take it, I'll take it.
- 26:25I like it. What makes you these are?
- 26:28Okey players, what makes you, what makes you think he's going
- 26:30to fall to wherever the the Rangers are going to be picking?
- 26:32The Rangers are going to be the worst record in in hockey the
- 26:35way they're going right now. And that doesn't mean they're
- 26:38going to get the number one. Pick no, but they're going to be
- 26:39in the top three to the top five.
- 26:41The Islanders were #10 and they got the number one pick, I mean.
- 26:45Look, but I don't think you can fall speedy.
- 26:47You correct me if I'm wrong with the NHL lottery.
- 26:50I know in basketball you can't fall that far.
- 26:52But if you're, you're not getting it, you're not getting
- 26:55it. And I I know what you're going
- 26:56to say and you're not going to be able to fall at a certain if
- 26:58you're drafting at 1, you can't fall past five.
- 27:01The Rangers need defense. And I'm going to tell you this
- 27:04right now, if I know Chris Drury, he is going to draft a
- 27:08defensive player in his top pick.
- 27:11They have been lacking that position for a very long time.
- 27:15And yes, they have Fox, but Fox can't stay healthy and he's an
- 27:18offensive defenceman. He's more offense than he is a
- 27:22defenceman. They're going to bring in a guy
- 27:24that can do be A2 dimensional guy like Schaefer.
- 27:28What you see with the Islanders have, that's what the the
- 27:30Rangers want and that's what the Rangers need.
- 27:33And that's what I believe the Rangers are going to go after at
- 27:36#5 Who's the kid? Keaton Vorhoff.
- 27:38Vorhoff is the guy. That's the guy that everybody
- 27:42says that'll probably fall to four or five if the Rangers are
- 27:46sitting there, that's where the Rangers should go, not McKenna.
- 27:49So if that's what you want, you want to bring in another
- 27:51offensive option like a Lafinir and a Capococko, watch them fall
- 27:55flat on their face. It's not a smart move.
- 27:58If you're a Ranger fan, you go with a a defenseman who is
- 28:02probably more of a short thing than McKenna is and probably
- 28:05keep, you know, keep out of the tabloids.
- 28:08I don't care if you'll love it because somebody said something
- 28:10about his mom and he punched him out.
- 28:12That doesn't go, that doesn't show you that you're a
- 28:14professional. 18 year old kid is a freshman in college, right?
- 28:18And he, we all did stupid stuff as a freshman in college and
- 28:21he's just trying to be tough. I I'm more concerned that he's
- 28:24having too good of a time in college.
- 28:26Over at State College in Pennsylvania.
- 28:28We know that's a fun place to go.
- 28:30And his production is not what they thought it was going to be.
- 28:34You know, coming in, he's only at about a point and 1/2 per
- 28:37game so far this season. And they thought he was going to
- 28:40be like 2 / 2 points per game type of kid in college.
- 28:43So, you know, it's it's he's not starting off as hot, but again,
- 28:47young guy playing against grown men and looks like he's having
- 28:50an awesome time. Ladies and gentlemen, that's why
- 28:53he's a Ranger fan. Fish is going what's?
- 28:56Wrong with that. He is going to stick up for all
- 28:58his teams, from the Giants to the Rangers to the Knicks.
- 29:01Somebody's got to. There's no honesty coming from
- 29:04this man's mouth. So I'm just letting you guys
- 29:06know if you're listening to this guy, just understand he is a fan
- 29:11of these teams. So I got to, I got to be
- 29:14straight up honest with you guys.
- 29:16Even even being an Islander fan. Do I think the Islanders are
- 29:19winning a Stanley Cup this year? No, but I do believe that the
- 29:23Islanders are making the playoffs and they could make a
- 29:25run. They're playing great hockey and
- 29:27Sarokin has been as good of any, as good as any goalie in the
- 29:31last five weeks. As a matter of fact, he leads
- 29:34league in shutouts and the Islanders are playing great,
- 29:38great hockey there. I think they're in 3rd place in
- 29:40the Eastern Conference and they're going to be fighting for
- 29:42that number one spot all season. There's still like 30 something
- 29:45games left. The Islanders have a chance this
- 29:47year, but I don't I think they're missing a piece for
- 29:50unless they trade another offensive option.
- 29:53They're talking about Peterson from Vancouver.
- 29:56If they can make that move in land Peterson, that would be a
- 29:58slam dunk for the New York Islanders.
- 30:00If they can land Peterson and they're they're willing to give
- 30:03up one of their first round draft picks this year to land
- 30:06another big offensive option. If they can get Peterson for a
- 30:09first round talent, a first round pick, I think it's a slam
- 30:12dunk for the and the and he's under contract.
- 30:15He's 27 years old. I, I, it's, it's an absolute
- 30:19slam dunk for the. Island.
- 30:20He needs to change the scenery badly.
- 30:21You might even. You might.
- 30:22Not and he played on the same line as Bo Hor.
- 30:24He might not even like you, might not even have to give up
- 30:26as much as you would have thought.
- 30:27First round draft pick one, that's it.
- 30:29I think you give up one first round draft pick, you can land
- 30:32Peterson and then you bring them on the same line as Bo Horvat
- 30:36and Matthew Barzell. I mean, come on guys that that
- 30:39could be one of the best lines in the NHL right now.
- 30:42And with what's the way Schaefers playing the Islander
- 30:44defense is playing. Patrick Ward to me is coach of
- 30:47the year right now. If you were to ask me right now,
- 30:49it's either him or the Colorado Avalanche coach.
- 30:51I mean, Benar, those are these two guys are probably 1A and 1B
- 30:57this year for coach of the year. It's been pretty amazing.
- 31:00And Sarokin is finally fully healthy with the back surgery
- 31:04that he had two years ago. It takes about it usually takes
- 31:072 years. I've talked to a bunch of goal
- 31:09tenders that have said they've had the same surgery in the past
- 31:13and it takes 2 years to get back to 100%.
- 31:16And, and you could see the Islanders are sitting pretty
- 31:20right now and Sarokin is not getting paid Shusterkin money,
- 31:24as we all know, eleven, $11 million to a guy that's only
- 31:28making nine and a half million dollars.
- 31:30So the Islanders are sitting pretty with Sarokin as their
- 31:33number one. I I love, I love what the
- 31:35Islanders doing, but Stanley Cup got to see more.
- 31:38They got to make a move for an offensive option to help them
- 31:40out on that first or second line.
- 31:42So we'll see what happens at the trade deadline.
- 31:45All right, our last segment of the night.
- 31:47What's that smell? What is that smell?
- 31:51What's right smell? Wow, you don't see that
- 31:59everyday. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 32:01it's pretty simple how we play this game.
- 32:03It's it's really simple. We do it every single week.
- 32:06So we're going to go around in order and we're going to tell
- 32:09you a story and we're going to tell you what it smells like.
- 32:11So tonight we're going to go fish.
- 32:15We're going to go Tommy. We're going to go Speedy.
- 32:16We're going to go me. All right, guys, let's get it
- 32:21going for what's that smell? All right, this one, I mean,
- 32:27this one makes me happy, Errol, maybe not you.
- 32:31Long time Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland has
- 32:38resigned from coaching the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 32:43I have his quote here. Philadelphia I I've decided my
- 32:47time coaching with the Eagles has come to an end.
- 32:49When I arrived here in 2013, I did not know what I was signing
- 32:52up for. I quickly learned what this city
- 32:54demands, but more importantly, what it gives back.
- 32:58The past 13 years have been a great privilege, been the great
- 33:01privilege of my coaching career. I didn't just work here, I
- 33:05became one of you. Stout out Jason Kelsey credited
- 33:09him with basically creating crafting him into the guy he was
- 33:13sort of be this great player and post career everything he's the
- 33:17reason why they were able to run all those 2000 yards with Saquon
- 33:22last year gets to the Super Bowl.
- 33:23He's part of the getting another Super Bowl before that.
- 33:26This guy is a legend and he's gone Errol.
- 33:29You don't have them anymore. Your offensive line.
- 33:33I heard Bobby Johnson's available.
- 33:35You know you can go get him. He's been with the He did great.
- 33:38They did great protecting Jaden Daniels last here.
- 33:41You know, I would go after him or maybe you know someone else
- 33:47that Joe Judge had or something like that.
- 33:49But look, what does it smell like for Eagles fans?
- 33:52It smells like a whole bunch of nasty rotting cheese whiz on
- 33:57your crappy cheese steaks. Woody has no Woody.
- 34:02All right, Yeah, never gets tired of hearing fish hating on
- 34:05eagles. But hey, I'm going to go over to
- 34:08some more hating within the NFL somewhat because Bad Bunny is
- 34:13going to be performing at the halftime show Now for those who
- 34:16don't know who Bad Bunny is. Then you must be living under a
- 34:20rock. Because everybody knows who Bad
- 34:21Bunny is. Basically, if you don't know,
- 34:24Bad Bunny is the most streamed artist in the world with even
- 34:28over 100 billion streamed views and usually the most followed
- 34:32artists behind people only behind Taylor Swift and Drake
- 34:36who are the only ones actually. Having their numbers.
- 34:38Close to him basically. It's really annoying looking at
- 34:41online all the people hating saying this is going to be the
- 34:44worst halftime performance of all time.
- 34:47I heard it so many times even last year.
- 34:49I don't think people are even happy with whoever they want for
- 34:51halftime show. So I don't know if we're going
- 34:53to result to having country music that'll be that'll be even
- 34:56boring. But hey, like I said, Bad
- 34:58Bunny's the most streamed artist in the world, just won a couple
- 35:01Grammys other day. Woods even rumored that he even
- 35:04wore a bulletproof vest, apparently because the death
- 35:06threats over the halftime show. So please.
- 35:10Hey, all I know is that look like I said, Bad Bunny, the most
- 35:14streamed artist, put some respect on his name.
- 35:17Most overrated artist. Hey, that man has over 100
- 35:21billion views like I mentioned for a reason so.
- 35:25If I knew how to sing reggaeton, I think I'd have 100 billion
- 35:28views too. You think?
- 35:30You could sing some reggaeton. Let's hear.
- 35:32You. I didn't say I could, but if I
- 35:34could just try. Just try.
- 35:36Don't ask me. I bet, I bet Speedy could do
- 35:44that. Sounds more like a canter during
- 35:46the High Holidays, Errol. So wait.
- 35:53What does it smell like? It smells like the nastiest odor
- 35:56of somebody'd armpits from those keyboard words or those
- 36:00neckbeards as people. Like to say on.
- 36:02Twitter. So yeah, there we go.
- 36:04I gotta go back off now. All right, before we have to
- 36:09hear any more of singing impersonations, I.
- 36:15Tried. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
- 36:17Listen, why can't we have like, some Jewish stuff, you know, on
- 36:22this? I am.
- 36:25Hey, go ahead, Speedy. All right, so I'm gonna go over
- 36:33for kind of a blast for the past I saw on this hockey page on
- 36:36Instagram, the Ottawa Senators apparently were ready to draft
- 36:40Andre Vasilevsky in the draft back in 2012.
- 36:44And so the story goes, Andre Vasilevsky went to a water park
- 36:48the day, a day or two before the the interview was supposed to
- 36:52happen with him and he got he got sunburned.
- 36:55So being that he was, he was ready, he was he said he wasn't
- 36:59feeling well and stuff like that.
- 37:00They asked the Ottawa Senators if he they could move the
- 37:03interview to another day and they never.
- 37:07The Ottawa Senators and their great general manager Pierre
- 37:09Dorian, that was horrible for a while, made all those bad trades
- 37:12with later on with the trades, the bad judge, the Rangers for
- 37:15nothing, Eric Carlson for nothing, to San Jose, all those
- 37:19guys they decided to pass on who's probably been the best
- 37:22goalie in the last eight years for Cody CC, who's a solid
- 37:27player but nothing amazing. Like he's a decent serviceable
- 37:30defenseman. Just because they didn't want to
- 37:32reschedule his interview because he wasn't feeling well and was
- 37:34sunburned. Good job Pierre Dorian, you pass
- 37:37on a future Hall of Fame goalie. Craig Anderson was a good
- 37:39goalie, topped on goalie when he was there.
- 37:41But you pass on the guy that in the future that could have been
- 37:44a good replacement for him. So what does that smell like?
- 37:46It smells like Pierre Dorian going down a water slide and
- 37:48getting sunburned. But it's not into water.
- 37:50It's Ottawa's famous brown marmorated stink bugs.
- 37:53Suck my indo I love Lisa Ann. All right, my final What's that
- 38:01smell is you know, Harrison Phillips was over there at the
- 38:06Super Bowl at Radio Row and he said some interesting things
- 38:10about the New York Jets and here it here it is.
- 38:13Defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, one of the New York
- 38:16Jets veteran leaders, spoke candidly Thursday about the same
- 38:21old Jets losing mental mentality that the seeped into.
- 38:27Well, it seeped into the locker room amid the team's 3 and 14
- 38:31season under first year coach Aaron Glenn.
- 38:35I think AJ inherited A cancerous hold from cancerous team whole
- 38:40top to bottom, Phillips told the round table Sports sports on
- 38:45radio row at the Super Bowl. Very interesting story, but I'm
- 38:50not surprised. OK, this is the New York Jets.
- 38:53And I do believe he inherited A cancerous group.
- 38:57That's why they got rid of Sauce Garner.
- 38:58That's why they got rid of Quinton Williams.
- 39:01They didn't want to be there. They didn't want to deal with
- 39:03it. And now we'll see how he can
- 39:06rebuild this team in probably his final year.
- 39:09So this better be a very good draft for the New York Jets.
- 39:14I also heard through the Grapevine that Moji, their their
- 39:19leader, their GM is telling, you know, obviously executives and
- 39:24people, players from other organizations, not to come here
- 39:29because it's a cancerous organization.
- 39:31Now, I don't know if that's true, but Manish Mehta, Speedy,
- 39:35we've had him on the show. Manish Mehta for my time, but I
- 39:37know you've. Had him.
- 39:38Manish Mehta came on my show a couple of times.
- 39:41He was a friend of the show and he got fired by the New York
- 39:44Jets. The Jets got rid of him.
- 39:46And now he posted that Moji has reached out to former players
- 39:50that might be interested in coming and playing for him and
- 39:53the New York Jets and told him you don't want to come here.
- 39:56This organization is cancerous. I don't know if it's true.
- 39:59I probably going to say that it isn't true, but who knows.
- 40:02What does it smell like? Well, it smells like the same
- 40:05old Jets. That's what it smells like.
- 40:07I have no idea if this is all true.
- 40:10I will say this. I said this was Robert Sala's
- 40:15team. You can shut the music.
- 40:16I said this was Robert Sala's team.
- 40:18This was not Aaron Glenn's team all the way through.
- 40:21Going into the season, this is practically the same team that
- 40:24Robert Sala and Joe Douglas put together.
- 40:27Now we'll see going into an offseason with a lot of money
- 40:31and a lot of options when it comes to draft stock, what The
- 40:35Jets probably do. Could The Jets trade one of
- 40:38their first round draft picks next year to move up into this
- 40:42year's draft and draft 3 first round draft picks?
- 40:45Very interesting because they got 3 next year.
- 40:48Or do they trade out of that number two pick and add a fourth
- 40:51to next year? I don't know how they or what
- 40:54they do, but The Jets have a lot of options.
- 40:57I think they're in the driver's seat and they also have a second
- 41:00round draft pick this year for the Quinton Williams trade.
- 41:02They got a first next year and it's second this year from the
- 41:05Cowboys. So The Jets are sitting pretty
- 41:08right now. And if they can pick the right
- 41:10guys, if they could pick the right guys, they could be set up
- 41:14very, very good for the next two to three years.
- 41:16We'll see. Thank you to all the fans on all
- 41:17the platforms for Spotify and Apple video and audio.
- 41:21Thank you to the fans on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook X YouTube.
- 41:25Jabba in the mouth. Shout out to Jabba Chamberlain.
- 41:29He's traveling all the way to Kansas City City getting ready
- 41:32for the season for Hutch and his son Carter Chamberlain, as a lot
- 41:38of Division One schools are looking at Carter and hopefully
- 41:41he picks the right school and eventually becomes a top end
- 41:46first round draft pick like his dad is.
- 41:47So we're rooting for him. A shout out to Carter.
