- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation, Welcome to Just the Cats. My
- 0:16Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett. On this Wednesday, July first. Hard
- 0:20Speaker 2: to believe we're already to July, but here we are today.
- 0:24Speaker 2: If you want to give this call, you can do
- 0:25Speaker 2: that at five o two three four fourteen fifty. You
- 0:27Speaker 2: want to text me on the Whiskey Tee text line,
- 0:30Speaker 2: you can do that at five oh two four to
- 0:31Speaker 2: one four fourteen fifteenn tweet me at Just the Cat Radio.
- 0:34Speaker 3: As I have Matthew Childress here.
- 0:37Speaker 2: He's already told me he comes in here this morning
- 0:39Speaker 2: says I've already checked out.
- 0:40Speaker 3: It's like, oh my gosh, man, you can't check out
- 0:42Speaker 3: right now and say that. But I'm checking out. No,
- 0:46Speaker 3: you said I have checked out?
- 0:48Speaker 4: No, yeah, true, I said. Every day I'm checking out
- 0:52Speaker 4: a little bit more, are you okay?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Well, I need two hours, so that's that's all I
- 0:56Speaker 2: need is just two hours of you and then you
- 0:58Speaker 2: can check out all you want.
- 1:00Speaker 5: This.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I don't care about Thursday or Friday, because you know
- 1:02Speaker 2: I'm out Thursday and Friday. This is this is officially
- 1:05Speaker 2: our last day together. Well, I hope you're not being facetious,
- 1:10Speaker 2: but I mean it. When you came over here and
- 1:12Speaker 2: I said, this is our last day together, I am
- 1:15Speaker 2: sad about it. I I Matthew, I'm gonna take a minute.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Then you don't say your word. Okay, I'm gonna tell
- 1:21Speaker 2: you right now. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with you.
- 1:25Speaker 2: When you came here for the first time, I thought, man,
- 1:28Speaker 2: you've got potential in radio. You you know sports. You
- 1:33Speaker 2: not afraid to talk, You're not afraid to speak your mind.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I want you to know, don't you dare give up
- 1:38Speaker 2: trying to be in radio, all right, because you do
- 1:41Speaker 2: heavy career in radio, and you need to find your
- 1:45Speaker 2: voice when you move down to Tampa. If it doesn't
- 1:47Speaker 2: work out, you need to find somewhere else. Do a podcast,
- 1:50Speaker 2: do anything. You do a wonderful job. And I want
- 1:53Speaker 2: you to know how much I appreciate the time and
- 1:55Speaker 2: effort that you've given me over the last what seven,
- 1:58Speaker 2: eight nine months, however long you've been on this show.
- 2:01Speaker 3: It has been a lot of fun. And I'm gonna
- 2:03Speaker 3: miss you dearly.
- 2:04Speaker 5: Well.
- 2:04Speaker 4: That means a lot to me because I am gonna
- 2:06Speaker 4: miss you. I am gonna miss doing this show. I
- 2:09Speaker 4: don't know, it's one where it's literally just because it's
- 2:13Speaker 4: like my last week. I'm also packing at home and
- 2:15Speaker 4: all this. Yeah, I just you know, I wish I
- 2:17Speaker 4: had a little more time to get everything together a
- 2:19Speaker 4: little stressed out, but I it's it also upsets me
- 2:22Speaker 4: when I come in here, like it's one of those
- 2:24Speaker 4: where like I just sometimes I feel like I just
- 2:26Speaker 4: rather ripped the band aid off already. I mean like
- 2:29Speaker 4: I feel like I'm just teasing it every single day. Yeah,
- 2:32Speaker 4: it makes me sad to think about it because this
- 2:34Speaker 4: is maybe not this exact situation is my dream. But
- 2:39Speaker 4: I've always wanted to talk sports for a living. I've
- 2:41Speaker 4: always wanted to have a voice, like you said, and
- 2:43Speaker 4: I've worked really hard to get to this point just
- 2:46Speaker 4: just to do this, whether it's you know, successful or not.
- 2:51Speaker 4: So it always meant a lot to me when you
- 2:53Speaker 4: let me come on your show for the first time.
- 2:55Speaker 4: I guess I filled in for Justin and then you
- 2:57Speaker 4: let me come on after that, and yeah, you know,
- 2:59Speaker 4: we made it a regular thing and it was it
- 3:01Speaker 4: was a lot of fun.
- 3:02Speaker 5: You know.
- 3:02Speaker 4: I told you you kind of became my mentor in
- 3:04Speaker 4: this work. Like I kind of built around what I
- 3:06Speaker 4: do as of how you do it. I learned a
- 3:08Speaker 4: lot of the way that I talk and the things
- 3:10Speaker 4: that I do I learned from you and Justin, which
- 3:12Speaker 4: was a really cool experience and helped me out a lot.
- 3:14Speaker 4: So I'm still looking, I'm still working. It's just unfortunately
- 3:18Speaker 4: this particular field is kind of dying. Yeah, and everywhere
- 3:22Speaker 4: I call, they're laying people off, so they can't hire anybody.
- 3:25Speaker 4: And I'm gonna keep looking and I'm gonna keep trying
- 3:28Speaker 4: because that's that's the that's honestly, Like, yes.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I know Paulina got a job down there, but.
- 3:33Speaker 4: We've been talking about moving to a bigger city for
- 3:35Speaker 4: a long time so that I can have more opportunity
- 3:38Speaker 4: and more stuff to do within this kind of rain right.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Right, Wow, you need to go introduce yourself more to
- 3:44Speaker 2: South Florida and meet those people at the University of
- 3:47Speaker 2: South Florida, because when they meet you face to face
- 3:50Speaker 2: and hear you talk about your passion with radio, they're
- 3:53Speaker 2: gonna want to have find a way to get you involved.
- 3:57Speaker 2: And so somewhere, somehow you're gonna find something. So I
- 4:01Speaker 2: hope you do a pray that you do and and
- 4:03Speaker 2: hopefully you'll succeed at that and uh and live out
- 4:06Speaker 2: that dream and continue to live out that dream. But
- 4:09Speaker 2: you know what, if y'all ever move back up here,
- 4:11Speaker 2: like I've said before, if y'all ever move back up here,
- 4:14Speaker 2: you've always got an opening on this show right here,
- 4:17Speaker 2: you always will.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Well that means a lot to me because we're well,
- 4:20Speaker 4: we'll definitely come back up here in the holidays and
- 4:22Speaker 4: stuff like that, and I'll text you maybe I'll come
- 4:25Speaker 4: on from Yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Well that would be great. I would appreciate that. So
- 4:28Speaker 2: but you know, and I don't want this to be
- 4:31Speaker 2: our last segment. As far as soccer, I mean, can
- 4:35Speaker 2: you can you call in at least and just you know,
- 4:37Speaker 2: give your fill in on the soccer until it's over
- 4:41Speaker 2: and done with her.
- 4:42Speaker 3: If you can't, can't, I should be able to, Okay.
- 4:44Speaker 4: It also just depends on, like when I get a
- 4:47Speaker 4: job and when that all stuff happens, because I'm still
- 4:50Speaker 4: interviewing for stuff and good it's tough right now.
- 4:54Speaker 2: It is tough out there, But I know I wish
- 4:57Speaker 2: you were the best of luck. I know a lot
- 4:58Speaker 2: of people out there that have listened, have messaged me
- 5:02Speaker 2: how they hate that you're leaving, and uh so you
- 5:05Speaker 2: have a lot of people up here that really appreciate
- 5:07Speaker 2: what you do and enjoy listening to you, and you
- 5:09Speaker 2: giving me crap and you giving me this, that and
- 5:12Speaker 2: the other, and uh but enough of the love fest.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Okay, you, Patricia, Paulina and I can go to dinner now.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Ooo?
- 5:19Speaker 3: Really are you buying?
- 5:20Speaker 5: No?
- 5:21Speaker 3: Why am I always the one buying?
- 5:23Speaker 4: I mean, it's all I was expected to pay for
- 5:25Speaker 4: Pauline and myself. You can pay for your wife. Okay,
- 5:29Speaker 4: I'll pay for her, I guess. But you know, if
- 5:31Speaker 4: you pick her checkup, I would be really appreciative of that.
- 5:34Speaker 4: But you know, a little later in the show, our
- 5:37Speaker 4: new producer and co host is going to be on,
- 5:39Speaker 4: and he kind of let the cat out of the
- 5:41Speaker 4: bag last night, and that's okay. I was going to
- 5:44Speaker 4: surprise everybody, but I screwed that up. I think last week,
- 5:47Speaker 4: what last week or week before? Technically John Spears just
- 5:50Speaker 4: said it on air yesterday?
- 5:51Speaker 3: Oh we did.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yeah, Well that was kind of obnoxious. I wasn't telling anybody.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Why did he tell everybody on the air yesterday?
- 5:58Speaker 4: Well, because I think that like he didn't think anybody
- 6:00Speaker 4: didn't know at this point, because he wasn't like releasing
- 6:04Speaker 4: it as some breaking news.
- 6:05Speaker 3: He was like, oh, blah bla blah's gonna be on
- 6:07Speaker 3: next week. Yeah. I think I think he just expected
- 6:09Speaker 3: everbody already knew.
- 6:10Speaker 2: No, no one knew, and then Justin was trying to
- 6:13Speaker 2: keep it a surprise, which I appreciate Justin trying to
- 6:15Speaker 2: do that. But yes, Justin Kaylen aka Scoots is coming
- 6:20Speaker 2: back to the station, which I'm sad about you leaving,
- 6:23Speaker 2: but I am excited about Justin coming back because that's
- 6:26Speaker 2: the one thing I was worried about if this station
- 6:30Speaker 2: was going to bring some yahoo in here that you know,
- 6:33Speaker 2: We've been lucky because I really get along with you,
- 6:36Speaker 2: and I really get along with Justin, and I don't
- 6:39Speaker 2: know if I could have survived if it wasn't one
- 6:41Speaker 2: of you two, and if it wasn't I is just like,
- 6:44Speaker 2: I don't know if just the Cats would have been
- 6:46Speaker 2: here if it wasn't Justin.
- 6:48Speaker 4: I was interested to, you know, maybe get a little
- 6:50Speaker 4: nosy and find out who they're bringing it in here.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, but I am thankful we don't have
- 6:56Speaker 2: to worry about that. We got Justin Kaylen coming back.
- 6:59Speaker 2: He's bringing back Sunrise with Scoots. He didn't let me
- 7:04Speaker 2: know because he announced it on Twitter last night and
- 7:08Speaker 2: I said cross talk question mark and he didn't answer me.
- 7:12Speaker 2: So I don't know if cross Talk's coming back. I
- 7:16Speaker 2: know one person that would love to see cross talk
- 7:18Speaker 2: come back, and that would be one TJ.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Walker.
- 7:22Speaker 2: So but because he was always coming on cross talk,
- 7:26Speaker 2: how much he had to have his cross talk every
- 7:28Speaker 2: single day. But I love the way that TJ. Walker
- 7:31Speaker 2: supports That always made me laugh. But can I tell
- 7:35Speaker 2: you something I saw this morning on the way into
- 7:37Speaker 2: the studio. Yeah, I might have seen one of the
- 7:41Speaker 2: most ridiculous things I've ever seen in my life. So
- 7:45Speaker 2: I saw these people riding something around Bowman Field, and
- 7:49Speaker 2: I want to know, is this a common thing or
- 7:53Speaker 2: an unusual thing? And maybe I'm missing out on something.
- 7:57Speaker 2: So there was a couple going around Boone on the sidewalk.
- 8:02Speaker 2: It wasn't a bike. It was like a a treadmill
- 8:09Speaker 2: that they were riding. They were literally standing up on
- 8:13Speaker 2: this thing that looked like a bike, but they didn't
- 8:16Speaker 2: pedal like a bike. They stepped down, so they went
- 8:20Speaker 2: up and down kind of like a cross country skiing
- 8:24Speaker 2: made into a bicycle, And I'm like, that might be
- 8:27Speaker 2: the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my life,
- 8:31Speaker 2: or it might be the most brilliant thing I ever seen.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Mid Do you happen to know anything what I'm trying
- 8:37Speaker 2: to describe here? I have literally no idea. I don't either.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I don't know the name of it. I don't know
- 8:43Speaker 2: how to look it up. But it looks like a
- 8:46Speaker 2: StairMaster met bicycle, met cross country Nordic track. And it
- 8:53Speaker 2: looked absolutely ridiculous. And I'm thinking that poor guy, his
- 8:59Speaker 2: wife probably forced him to buy this. Now they got
- 9:01Speaker 2: to exercise on it and ride this thing all around.
- 9:05Speaker 2: It just it looks I'm sorry, it looked ridiculous.
- 9:08Speaker 3: It just did. Yeah, I can't even we're talking about.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, So imagine a guy that is standing
- 9:15Speaker 2: up on a bicycle. It looks like a scooter with
- 9:18Speaker 2: the exception of it has these things that you're pedaling down.
- 9:24Speaker 2: You're not actually peddling like a bicycle. It doesn't go around,
- 9:27Speaker 2: you're just stepping one side the other side. You step
- 9:30Speaker 2: down it and the other side comes up, so it's
- 9:32Speaker 2: like an elliptical. You can ride exactly. Yes, it was
- 9:37Speaker 2: the I'm not kidding. I just I'm like that poor guy.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Please tell me he didn't pick this that his white
- 9:43Speaker 2: forced him to do.
- 9:44Speaker 4: There's some things that you know, I understand that it
- 9:47Speaker 4: probably is. It's exercise, and exercise is great for you. Yes,
- 9:52Speaker 4: there's a line of embarrassment that I won't cross. That's
- 9:55Speaker 4: one of them for me. Yeah, what are they for you?
- 9:58Speaker 4: I think that one hits the list. Yes, I'll be
- 10:01Speaker 4: honest with you. I don't care how much. Maybe in
- 10:06Speaker 4: my later years I get into cycling. I'll never wear
- 10:09Speaker 4: one of those like skin tights and helmets exactly. Yes, yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 4: never in my life. While I'll wear that, yes, right
- 10:16Speaker 4: there with you. Oh the last one. Actually have two more,
- 10:22Speaker 4: all right. I will never wear water shoes ever.
- 10:28Speaker 3: What are water shoes?
- 10:28Speaker 4: You don't see those people at the beach in the
- 10:30Speaker 4: pool who have those like mess shoes.
- 10:33Speaker 2: They wear water Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, never all right,
- 10:37Speaker 2: go ahead, the last one, right, those people who wear
- 10:40Speaker 2: those shoes they have the toes in it.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Now, Oh, you just took it away from me.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I am literally in the airport on my way back
- 10:48Speaker 2: in Spokane, Washington, on Sunday and this guy is sitting
- 10:51Speaker 2: down and has his feet spread out and he's just
- 10:54Speaker 2: all comfortable and everything, and he had those shoes on
- 10:58Speaker 2: with with the ones that show you that your toes
- 11:01Speaker 2: that you have to fit every little toe into into
- 11:04Speaker 2: the shoe. Those are Please tell me no one really
- 11:10Speaker 2: wants to wear them.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Apparently people actually like them, like apparently they're super comfortable
- 11:14Speaker 4: and people like which. I don't understand how you got
- 11:17Speaker 4: fabric rubbing in between your toes? All right, that can't be.
- 11:20Speaker 3: My middle school basketball coach wore those to every practice.
- 11:23Speaker 3: You've got to be kidding. Have they been around that long?
- 11:25Speaker 5: Oh?
- 11:25Speaker 3: Yeah, they've been around for a long time. I didn't
- 11:27Speaker 3: realize that. No, it would literally play against us in practice.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Come on see, I couldn't concentrate if somebody was wearing
- 11:37Speaker 2: those as we're playing basketball. It's like, dude, I'm either
- 11:39Speaker 2: going to stomp on your foot or you got to
- 11:42Speaker 2: take those things off because that's just ridiculous looking.
- 11:46Speaker 3: I don't know. I mean the other thing I wouldn't wear.
- 11:49Speaker 2: You know how people wear the long tights that go
- 11:53Speaker 2: all the way down to your ankles and then they'll
- 11:55Speaker 2: put shorts over them. I I don't know what they're called.
- 11:59Speaker 2: I mean the women wear them quite a bit, yoga pants. Well,
- 12:02Speaker 2: they make them for men too. And there's one thing,
- 12:05Speaker 2: that's one thing I'll never wear, and you're right, I
- 12:07Speaker 2: will never wear the bicycle stuff.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no, I don't lie.
- 12:11Speaker 2: And I've seen guys that are overweight that are wearing
- 12:14Speaker 2: the bicycle stuff. I'm like, dude, come on, I.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Don't understand what what does it do is? I have
- 12:18Speaker 4: no idea of dynamics? Are you going faster? I'm confused.
- 12:22Speaker 2: They want to pretend they're in France and they're doing
- 12:24Speaker 2: whatever that bicycle Yeah, Tour de France. They want to
- 12:28Speaker 2: do Tour Tour the uh river with their live strong armbands.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, Tour de river Road.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I mean that's where they they always seem to ride
- 12:38Speaker 2: around five five point thirty when traffic is that it's
- 12:40Speaker 2: worst down the river road.
- 12:42Speaker 3: I never understand that. It's like, can't you go to
- 12:44Speaker 3: a park?
- 12:45Speaker 4: Cyclists also like ride in traffic as if they're invincible.
- 12:50Speaker 4: I yeah, like I understand they tendly have the ride away,
- 12:54Speaker 4: but these people don't even pay attention, like they just
- 12:57Speaker 4: I'm like, dude, I could kill you right now.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Well, not just that, but they go through stop signs,
- 13:02Speaker 2: they go through red lights. It's like, that's what I'm saying,
- 13:04Speaker 2: what are you doing? They don't care.
- 13:06Speaker 4: They fully expect you to stop at it in a moment,
- 13:08Speaker 4: and they think they're completely safe.
- 13:10Speaker 2: I almost hit a guy on the River Road that
- 13:12Speaker 2: went through a stop sign. I didn't see him coming,
- 13:15Speaker 2: and I had to slam on my brakes and he
- 13:18Speaker 2: tells me I'm number one. I mean, it's just like,
- 13:20Speaker 2: wait a minute, ude, you just went through a stop sign.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I yeah, I lost it. But anyway, those are the
- 13:26Speaker 2: pet peeves that I have. I like the fact because
- 13:28Speaker 2: you and I do come up with a lot of
- 13:29Speaker 2: the same stuff. We were similarly thinking in mind right there,
- 13:34Speaker 2: I think so yeah, but without a doubt right there?
- 13:36Speaker 2: All right, that's a good thing or a bad thing.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I don't know if it's good if you want to
- 13:39Speaker 2: be like Michael Bennett. I I tend to think some
- 13:42Speaker 2: days I don't want to be like Michael Bennett. But
- 13:44Speaker 2: here I am. I. Yesterday we didn't talk about it.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I had it down, but I wanted to talk about it.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Today was Mitch Barnhardt's final day at the University of Kentucky.
- 13:56Speaker 3: And open a new bottle of bourbon and celebrate. Did I? Yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 3: we would I do that. I don't know.
- 14:01Speaker 2: He's gone to move on. Well, all right, let's let's
- 14:07Speaker 2: talk about the negative first. What what does what does
- 14:10Speaker 2: Matthew Childress think about the negative with Mitch Barnhardt at UK?
- 14:16Speaker 2: But then I want to finish with positive, because we
- 14:18Speaker 2: should finish with positive.
- 14:20Speaker 4: I'd say, in my lifetime lifes lifespan. The first negative
- 14:24Speaker 4: for me was probably the Billy Gillespie higher. Ooh, that's
- 14:29Speaker 4: a good one right there. That was a really big one.
- 14:31Speaker 4: And that was early on in my life. So that
- 14:33Speaker 4: was something like when I grew up, I really only
- 14:35Speaker 4: knew Billy Gillespie until Cal came in.
- 14:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:37Speaker 2: It was a complete miss right there. Right, that was
- 14:40Speaker 2: one bad one.
- 14:41Speaker 6: Uh.
- 14:42Speaker 3: I mean you could have hired Cal earlier and you
- 14:44Speaker 3: guys didn't. Yeah.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Uh.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Then you kind of get him later on, so it
- 14:48Speaker 4: kind of it doesn't really matter at that point. You
- 14:49Speaker 4: get him anyway. Yeah, he has some great ears here,
- 14:52Speaker 4: And it's just the way the stuff with Cal ended,
- 14:55Speaker 4: it seemed like it just didn't make any sense. He
- 14:58Speaker 4: takes stoop side for no reason at.
- 15:00Speaker 3: All other than you know, their friends or whatever.
- 15:03Speaker 4: And that completely backfires on the athletic program of the
- 15:05Speaker 4: Unitiversity Kentucky.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a whole This is a basketball school
- 15:09Speaker 2: versus wait wait, wait, wait, this is not just a
- 15:12Speaker 2: basketball school, and every coach should have taken offense to that.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I mean, I remember Vince Merrill and Mark Stoops what
- 15:19Speaker 2: they had to say about that off off air in private,
- 15:23Speaker 2: but they weren't happy about it.
- 15:25Speaker 4: I get you're not gonna have perfect relationships with everybody,
- 15:27Speaker 4: but it's just a way that it was handled with
- 15:29Speaker 4: him leaving. I think I think miss Barnhart got off
- 15:32Speaker 4: with murder in terms of Cal just saying you don't
- 15:37Speaker 4: have to pay me anything. I'm just gonna leave, and
- 15:38Speaker 4: you know Arkansas will handle it. I to this day,
- 15:42Speaker 4: that's one of the anomalies in sports. I cannot believe
- 15:45Speaker 4: he was generous enough to not make Kentucky pay.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Because I don't think he wanted to leave. I think,
- 15:50Speaker 2: truth be said, I don't think Cal. I think it
- 15:53Speaker 2: was a bluff and Cal really did not want to leave.
- 15:57Speaker 2: You k he probably didn't, and Mitch and and Cal
- 16:01Speaker 2: did not get along. Uh, you know, the go between
- 16:04Speaker 2: was widely known as uh uh Peevy Dwayne Peevey who's
- 16:10Speaker 2: now at uh De Paul. And when Dwayne left it,
- 16:14Speaker 2: I mean their relationship completely fell apart. It was bad
- 16:17Speaker 2: enough as it was when Dwayne Peevee was here, but
- 16:20Speaker 2: when Dwayne left and went to De Paul, it was
- 16:22Speaker 2: even a thousand times worse. I really think Cal really
- 16:26Speaker 2: wanted Mitch tole even Mitch was happy that Cal was leaving,
- 16:30Speaker 2: and they didn't have to. I think the worst thing,
- 16:32Speaker 2: You're right, the worst hire was Billy Gillespie. Who was
- 16:38Speaker 2: the best hire? Mm because I think you can say
- 16:44Speaker 2: a multitude of people.
- 16:46Speaker 4: I mean, the thing, see, this is the weird question
- 16:48Speaker 4: is you can either say I don't think Minchiona's on there, No,
- 16:54Speaker 4: I might be Kenny Brooks yeah, or why am I
- 16:59Speaker 4: blanking on the Bible coach Craig Skinner, Craig Skinner, I
- 17:01Speaker 4: think it's Craig Skinner. I think it's I think it's
- 17:03Speaker 4: by far Craig Skinner. You could you could throw Mark
- 17:06Speaker 4: Stoops in there, even though you know it's obviously felt
- 17:08Speaker 4: falling apart this last couple of season, but he is
- 17:10Speaker 4: the winning his coach of cok football history. You could
- 17:12Speaker 4: make an argument. I wouldn't agree with it. I would
- 17:15Speaker 4: say it's Craig Skinner. But I think that Mark Stoops
- 17:19Speaker 4: being in Kentucky as long as he was is also
- 17:22Speaker 4: a misfire. I think that that probably ships to the
- 17:25Speaker 4: sailed a long time ago, especially after the whole South
- 17:28Speaker 4: Carolina nonsense where he was fully gonna leave and then
- 17:31Speaker 4: they didn't want to hire their texta am, Yes, sorry,
- 17:33Speaker 4: texa Am.
- 17:34Speaker 3: I was thinking' Scott Sanderfield. I'm right, he was going
- 17:36Speaker 3: to South Carolina. Yeah, but uh, he was.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Gonna leave, they didn't want him comes back, and then
- 17:40Speaker 4: I don't know, I feel like that was kind of odd.
- 17:43Speaker 4: And then finally the cherry on the top is just
- 17:46Speaker 4: the Jami stuff yea, even though it's working for football.
- 17:50Speaker 4: Like that's where I'll give him grace, because it does
- 17:51Speaker 4: work for football. It's just you have this almost half
- 17:57Speaker 4: a billion dollar contract with a media company that seems
- 18:03Speaker 4: to just be hindering your basketball program, which is your
- 18:05Speaker 4: red and butter more than anything. And you're signing this
- 18:08Speaker 4: for what like fifteen something years, way too many years,
- 18:11Speaker 4: and then you just and then you're leaving right while
- 18:13Speaker 4: it's going on, So it's not even like it's a
- 18:15Speaker 4: oh when I leave, it comes with me. Yeah, Jay
- 18:18Speaker 4: Blatt has to come in and figure that out.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Yeah, so I don't know what. See, I'm right there.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I couldn't agree with him.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Mark.
- 18:25Speaker 4: That's one of those where I get he's done good things,
- 18:28Speaker 4: but he's been here for twenty six years.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Like, I hope you've done some good things.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Yeah, clearly somebody else thinks he's been doing some good things,
- 18:35Speaker 2: all right. I think he left out rich Brooks too.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I thought rich Brooks was a really good hire and
- 18:40Speaker 2: he was way down the road. You know, I forgot
- 18:43Speaker 2: about rich Brooks. Yeah, Parcels. They really wanted to hire
- 18:46Speaker 2: Parcels first from the Giants, and he was going to
- 18:49Speaker 2: come and then he bailed on him last minute, and
- 18:51Speaker 2: then they went ahead and got rich Brooks. When was that,
- 18:54Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, this is back in the early two thousands. Yeah,
- 18:58Speaker 2: I wouldn't have. Like I literally grew up knowing Billy Geleslie.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I didn't know anything before that.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Yeah, well, rich Brooks was a football coach. I know that.
- 19:05Speaker 3: I just felt like that was the first like that
- 19:07Speaker 3: era was when I started I gotcha yeah.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, Guy Morris was the coach at the time,
- 19:11Speaker 2: and Guy Morris really wanted to have a higher pay
- 19:17Speaker 2: contract for all his assistant coaches, and Mitch Barnhardt said, no,
- 19:20Speaker 2: we're not going to be doing that. So they went
- 19:22Speaker 2: out thought they had par sales and he didn't do
- 19:26Speaker 2: it last minute, and then they went out and got
- 19:28Speaker 2: Rich Brooks, and Rich Brooks did a nice job. I
- 19:30Speaker 2: was really disappointed when Rich Brooks left. I thought the
- 19:34Speaker 2: hire of Joker Phillips, you would have thought that would
- 19:37Speaker 2: have been good, but that was an absolute debacle. And
- 19:41Speaker 2: then you go out there and you get Mark Stoops.
- 19:45Speaker 2: And the part I will give Mitch Barnhardt a lot
- 19:50Speaker 2: of credit with is that he was patient with all
- 19:52Speaker 2: these coaches. There are a lot of athletic directors out
- 19:56Speaker 2: there that will bail on you to save their own
- 19:59Speaker 2: job instead of being confident enough to listen, I think
- 20:03Speaker 2: he's the right guy and back that person, whereas most
- 20:06Speaker 2: of the AD's out there don't. They just like, well,
- 20:08Speaker 2: I'll get rid of him, I'll go hire somebody else.
- 20:10Speaker 2: And that's where you just continue to have this carousel
- 20:13Speaker 2: of coaches that come in and you're never getting anywhere. Now,
- 20:16Speaker 2: You're right about Mark Stoops probably should have happened when
- 20:23Speaker 2: the whole thing happened with Texas A and M. But
- 20:26Speaker 2: here's my biggest criticism of Mitch Brooks. I'm Mitch Brooks.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Mitch Barnhardt. He should have left six years ago. He
- 20:35Speaker 2: stayed six years too long, He let Cal stay too long,
- 20:39Speaker 2: he let Rich, he let Mark Stoops stay too long.
- 20:42Speaker 2: And I we'll just have to see how the hire
- 20:46Speaker 2: of Mark Pope is. I'm not willing to say yet.
- 20:48Speaker 2: I'm not willing to say I'm not backing Mark Pope.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Of course I'm backing Mark Pope. But let's just see
- 20:54Speaker 2: how year three of Mark Pope goes. If it goes well, boom,
- 20:58Speaker 2: I'm backing them even more. If it doesn't, it's gonna
- 21:03Speaker 2: be hard. And I think it's unfair to a new
- 21:07Speaker 2: ad to come in here and make a lot of decisions.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Whereas you're You're right, Matthew, your hands are completely tied
- 21:13Speaker 2: behind your back when it comes with this whole jmidal.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I think to me, between all right, what do you
- 21:19Speaker 2: think was worse the JMI ideal that Mitch Barnhardt orchestrated
- 21:23Speaker 2: or the lifetime contract with John Caliperry, which he luckily
- 21:28Speaker 2: got out of without any kind of payment from the
- 21:32Speaker 2: Universe of Kentucky.
- 21:32Speaker 4: I think it's the m ideal. I do too, because
- 21:35Speaker 4: I think that you the JMI deal on paper seems
- 21:40Speaker 4: like it can work, and like I said, it's working
- 21:41Speaker 4: for football. It's just the fact that you entered the
- 21:45Speaker 4: University of Kentucky and now Ja Blatt and you know,
- 21:47Speaker 4: Mark Pope and all you know, Will Stein and all
- 21:52Speaker 4: these other coaches into a long, long contract that's it
- 21:57Speaker 4: completely convoluted an extremely confusing it to kind of build
- 22:02Speaker 4: revenue in a system that isn't regulated yet. So like
- 22:06Speaker 4: we might have NCA sanctions and rules that basically either
- 22:11Speaker 4: can can benefit JMI or completely hinder it even more,
- 22:14Speaker 4: you know what I mean. So like we don't even
- 22:15Speaker 4: know what's going to happen with NIL yet. So just
- 22:18Speaker 4: the idea of making this contract at all in a
- 22:21Speaker 4: state where we're in the wild West, Yeah, it just
- 22:25Speaker 4: gives me the feeling that like five years down the road,
- 22:27Speaker 4: this JMI thing is gonna have to be scraped. They're
- 22:29Speaker 4: gonta to find a way to get out of it,
- 22:31Speaker 4: because it's gonna do. It's either gonna work perfectly or
- 22:34Speaker 4: it's gonna be the worst thing for Telly Sports apt.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:36Speaker 2: I just think it's gonna make it even worse. I
- 22:39Speaker 2: have no confidence in Jmi and to the point where
- 22:42Speaker 2: it's like, Okay, Jami, either you changed this or you've
- 22:45Speaker 2: got to go. UK has to figure out how to
- 22:47Speaker 2: get out of this, because the other issue is you've
- 22:49Speaker 2: got a president of the university that's been there a
- 22:52Speaker 2: little too long too, and Eli Cappoluto is just like,
- 22:55Speaker 2: my goodness, man, how much long are you gonna be
- 22:57Speaker 2: at UK?
- 22:58Speaker 4: So this is this is the confusing part for me
- 23:00Speaker 4: because whenever the Jay My stuff happened, I know we
- 23:02Speaker 4: have to go to break.
- 23:03Speaker 3: I'll say this, sorry.
- 23:04Speaker 4: I feel like it was Mitch Barnhardt explaining that his
- 23:08Speaker 4: point of I don't like the nil situation. I don't
- 23:12Speaker 4: like the fundraising situation, and he kind of just pushed
- 23:14Speaker 4: the fundraising to a company. So now like Kentucky has
- 23:17Speaker 4: this much money and they're going to have it, so
- 23:19Speaker 4: thankfully I don't have to do that anymore. But then
- 23:22Speaker 4: you bring in Jay Blatt, who's a fundraiser, so like,
- 23:27Speaker 4: what is the point.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Exactly what're bringing him in when you just gave it
- 23:30Speaker 2: to a complete company, Like.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I guess the point I'm trying to make is, how
- 23:34Speaker 3: is he going to go out to donors and say, hey,
- 23:37Speaker 3: we need ten plus million dollars and the donors don't
- 23:40Speaker 3: just say don't you have five hundred million from blah
- 23:43Speaker 3: blah blah?
- 23:44Speaker 2: Right, Like, how how do you pitch that you can't?
- 23:48Speaker 2: It's going to be interesting to see how he does.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I mean, it's got to be a completely different angle
- 23:53Speaker 2: and we'll see what happens in what transpires. But I
- 23:55Speaker 2: wish Jay Bett the all the luck in the world.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I mean, Jay bad, am I saying blat, Yeah, you're
- 24:02Speaker 2: saying bla, that's bad. That's okay, you can say what everyone. Listen,
- 24:05Speaker 2: you've already checked out. You've already told me you have
- 24:07Speaker 2: checked out. You're probably gonna call me Michael Bennet or
- 24:12Speaker 2: Benton or or Mike something or that.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Mitchell.
- 24:17Speaker 2: All right, let's go ahead deck our first break. When
- 24:19Speaker 2: we come back, I want you to give him a grade. Okay,
- 24:21Speaker 2: think about it. During the break. Let me know what
- 24:24Speaker 2: grade you'd give Mitch Barnhardt for his career at the
- 24:27Speaker 2: University Kentucky. Start right there, a lot more justic Kat's
- 24:30Speaker 2: coming right out.
- 24:36Speaker 7: Sails are Fool Days, Rain.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Ben not play.
- 25:11Speaker 3: All right.
- 25:11Speaker 2: I found it, I sent it to you. Did you
- 25:14Speaker 2: look at it? Talk about the bike thing? Yes, yes, Elliptico, Yeah,
- 25:19Speaker 2: that thing is horrendous.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Okay, So I'm not an idiot.
- 25:22Speaker 4: The enama, I don't even like I want to feel
- 25:29Speaker 4: like embarrassed for the people that are using it. It's
- 25:32Speaker 4: just one of those moments when I see an when
- 25:34Speaker 4: I see an item or an idea or a product
- 25:37Speaker 4: or something, and I think, like ten to fifteen human
- 25:42Speaker 4: beings had to sit down in a conference room and
- 25:46Speaker 4: somebody had to pitch that idea and they thought, I'm
- 25:50Speaker 4: jumping on that right now. Yeah, and all those people
- 25:55Speaker 4: need to be fired immediately.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Well, I didn't look to see how much they are,
- 26:00Speaker 2: but I did see an advertisement. Several of them are
- 26:03Speaker 2: for sale on eBay. I'll give you. I'm gonna guess
- 26:07Speaker 2: they're for like fifteen hundred dollars apiece.
- 26:09Speaker 3: I bet they're more than that.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not kidd And I looked it up
- 26:12Speaker 2: a second ago and there were more advertisements for the
- 26:20Speaker 2: for them on sale at eBay than any than their
- 26:26Speaker 2: website coming up.
- 26:27Speaker 3: The cheapest one. Oh please, no, so do you want?
- 26:32Speaker 4: Okay, there's actually okay, Wow, there's a stand up version.
- 26:36Speaker 3: There's an elliptical elliptical bike. Yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 4: The stand up version I was right on is fifteen
- 26:41Speaker 4: hundred dollars.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:43Speaker 4: The cheapest elliptical bike, which is the one the pictures
- 26:46Speaker 4: that you saw right, twenty five hundred dollars. That's the cheapest.
- 26:51Speaker 2: See I'm seeing one for four thousand dollars, one for
- 26:54Speaker 2: thirty six hundred dollars. eBay has it for twenty four
- 26:58Speaker 2: hundred dollars. It's like, you've got to be kidding me.
- 27:02Speaker 2: I I just I did, no way would I ever
- 27:05Speaker 2: consider doing anything like that. So he left to go
- 27:08Speaker 2: I I will. You're getting a free advertisement out of
- 27:11Speaker 2: Michael Bennett right now. I wish you the best of luck.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Uh but uh but anyway? Uh one Ohio guy texted
- 27:18Speaker 2: in five O two four one four fourteen fifty my
- 27:21Speaker 2: favorite moment of Matt on The Big Essex when he
- 27:24Speaker 2: guest hosted Just the Cats when you were out and
- 27:27Speaker 2: he thought, here I go again.
- 27:29Speaker 5: By uh uh.
- 27:31Speaker 2: White Snake was played in the Titanic when Scoots played
- 27:34Speaker 2: out of a commercial break.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Is that true?
- 27:38Speaker 4: Yes, it was true. I made a mistake. I made
- 27:41Speaker 4: I had a brain fart on the air.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, what were you thinking? White Snake was
- 27:46Speaker 2: played in The Titanic.
- 27:48Speaker 4: The intro to White Snake sounds eerily similar to the
- 27:52Speaker 4: like the theme song for Titanic, the very beginning of it,
- 27:55Speaker 4: like the instrumental part. Really, so he played it for
- 27:57Speaker 4: a second. I'm not like, I'm not saying that it's
- 28:00Speaker 4: not identical. It just sounds a little similar.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, pull it up. But I want to hear
- 28:06Speaker 2: this song. It's called Uh, well, I've already gotten away
- 28:11Speaker 2: from it. It's called White Snake. Let's see White Snake. Uh,
- 28:15Speaker 2: here I go again. I mean, I know this song.
- 28:18Speaker 2: It was a very famous video back in the day
- 28:21Speaker 2: because the lead singer uh of White Snake was dating
- 28:25Speaker 2: this actress, really pretty actress back in the day. And uh,
- 28:30Speaker 2: I don't remember her name, and I don't remember the
- 28:32Speaker 2: guy from my sixth name, but I certainly remember the video.
- 28:35Speaker 2: All Right, you got it? That sounds like White Snake
- 28:41Speaker 2: to me. As I'm playing, I know this does not
- 28:45Speaker 2: sound like Celene Dion Okay, now go play. I have
- 28:53Speaker 2: no idea Celene Dion and whatever. The Titanic theme is
- 28:58Speaker 2: near far wherever you are are, I know my heart
- 29:02Speaker 2: goes on or whatever it is. It's something like that.
- 29:05Speaker 2: It's just there's no way they sound the same. Okay,
- 29:12Speaker 2: is it coming up? Yeah, so it's not I want
- 29:14Speaker 2: to preface. Okay, it's not the actual interring play. It's
- 29:17Speaker 2: just like the rhythm which is played. It sounds very
- 29:20Speaker 2: Oh it's it's now the rhythm.
- 29:22Speaker 3: You're you're gonna, You're gonna hear it, I promise, Okay,
- 29:24Speaker 3: any day now, okay, fair enough. It doesn't very similar.
- 29:33Speaker 3: It's not.
- 29:34Speaker 2: It just sounds similar. Celine the Honest singing White Snake.
- 29:38Speaker 2: I think White Snake has a case here that sounds
- 29:43Speaker 2: very similar. I know the difference between the two.
- 29:50Speaker 3: They sound similar. They do sound similar.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Okay, I stand corrected, Very good, Matthew I. I had
- 29:57Speaker 2: never noticed that those two songs sound the very similar
- 30:01Speaker 2: to each other. But that's awesome, right there. Josh texted out,
- 30:06Speaker 2: Taani Katan that was it?
- 30:09Speaker 3: Thank you? Josh was the girl's name.
- 30:11Speaker 2: She had that thing spread all over the hood of
- 30:15Speaker 2: the car in the video.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true. She was in a movie with Tom Hanks.
- 30:19Speaker 2: I think it was called Bachelor Party, and that was
- 30:22Speaker 2: her first breakthrough movie. I don't know if she did
- 30:25Speaker 2: any movies after that. She dated a Los Angeles Dodgers
- 30:29Speaker 2: baseball player. Then she started going out with the Whitesnake
- 30:33Speaker 2: lead singer, and they put her in this video Tawny
- 30:37Speaker 2: Katan and she's she's on the hood of a car
- 30:41Speaker 2: trying to be as sexy as she can.
- 30:43Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 30:43Speaker 2: That was back in the day when MTV was really big,
- 30:46Speaker 2: with all the music videos and that kind of stuff.
- 30:48Speaker 2: My good, what's that when MTV was good? I think
- 30:53Speaker 2: that's a fair thing to say. Of course, MTV is
- 30:54Speaker 2: completely gone now and some other weird station that it is.
- 30:58Speaker 2: But one person texted, tany uh Latan, Now it's it's Katan.
- 31:03Speaker 2: It's not Latan. I don't even know who you're talking about. Well,
- 31:06Speaker 2: if you go look up White Snake in that song
- 31:08Speaker 2: the video, you'll see who she is.
- 31:10Speaker 3: She just saw the video.
- 31:12Speaker 4: Oh you didn't think she was pretty? I didn't know
- 31:13Speaker 4: who that was. Yeah, that's her.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Random Oh no, no, no, no, she was an actress
- 31:18Speaker 2: that was actually in a movie with Tom Hanks called
- 31:21Speaker 2: Bachelor Party, and it was a really good movie. It
- 31:23Speaker 2: was one of those It was before Tom Hanks became
- 31:26Speaker 2: Tom Hanks, you know, the very serious actor.
- 31:28Speaker 3: He made goofy movies.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I mean, after all, he was in a sitcom back
- 31:33Speaker 2: in the seventies called or eighties called Bosom Buddies, and
- 31:37Speaker 2: it was the dumbest show ever, but it was successful
- 31:40Speaker 2: and that was his start in entertainment. You've never heard
- 31:45Speaker 2: of Bosom Buddies, have you?
- 31:47Speaker 3: No? Yeah, that's okay. You're just you're talking on air
- 31:49Speaker 3: and I'm waiting for you to be done.
- 31:50Speaker 2: I know, Sorry about that. Uh, let's talk about Mitch
- 31:53Speaker 2: Barnhart grade. Uh what kind of a grade? Because I
- 31:57Speaker 2: don't want to influence you. You're kind of on the
- 31:59Speaker 2: outside looking in. What kind of a grade for the
- 32:03Speaker 2: twenty six years that Mitch Barnhardt dedicated to the University Kentucky,
- 32:08Speaker 2: would you.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Give him for his career C minus? Oh your hardcore? Wow?
- 32:16Speaker 3: I mean twenty six years brought one basketball championship, Yeah,
- 32:22Speaker 3: he bought.
- 32:22Speaker 2: He brought multiple rifle championships, he brought volleyball championships. He
- 32:27Speaker 2: almost had a championship in cross country let me just
- 32:31Speaker 2: talk about rifling. Just bring rifling. Absolutely, cheerleading was one
- 32:35Speaker 2: of the best in the country. Uh, that's a part
- 32:40Speaker 2: of all of it. That's all a part. You can't
- 32:42Speaker 2: just say basketball and football and that's it. You got
- 32:45Speaker 2: to you have to include the entire athletic department. Yeah,
- 32:50Speaker 2: I think that is a part of it.
- 32:52Speaker 3: There is.
- 32:52Speaker 4: Look, I know you can't just do basketball football in
- 32:54Speaker 4: this right. Yeah, I agree that, right, but there's a
- 32:57Speaker 4: level to what your sport matters. I'm sorry, I'm just
- 32:59Speaker 4: gonna to be honest. I'm gonna be blunt here. I
- 33:03Speaker 4: disagree with you. Kentucky could have eight hundred thousand rifling championships.
- 33:08Speaker 4: I wouldn't even put it on our resume if I
- 33:10Speaker 4: was much Barnhart.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Okay, I see, I would because again, it's not about
- 33:15Speaker 2: two sports. He is in charge of all of the
- 33:19Speaker 2: athletic department.
- 33:20Speaker 4: But it's also the two major sports war right. One
- 33:23Speaker 4: through about ninety percent of his tenure, it was terrible football, Yes, football,
- 33:29Speaker 4: the other one. You brought one championship ninety percent.
- 33:32Speaker 2: I think that's a kind of strong there. Rich Brooks
- 33:35Speaker 2: had really good seasons and Mark Soops had some really
- 33:40Speaker 2: good team was winning his coach.
- 33:42Speaker 3: He had two ten win seasons, one of them got vacated.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Yeah, and then he is I think he's only a
- 33:48Speaker 4: five hundred coach, all right, then, like, yeah, he's the
- 33:51Speaker 4: winning his coach, but it wasn't like a great win percentage.
- 33:54Speaker 4: It wasn't like he was you know. So you don't
- 33:56Speaker 4: want to include volleyball. You don't include baseball going to
- 34:01Speaker 4: the World College World Series for the very first time
- 34:04Speaker 4: ever in years. You don't want to include women's basketball
- 34:08Speaker 4: that is really on the up and up.
- 34:11Speaker 3: It's been really bad for a really really long time.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Matthew Mitchell did a really good job, and then yeah,
- 34:17Speaker 2: he misfired on the coach after that, and then he
- 34:20Speaker 2: brought in Kenny Brook.
- 34:21Speaker 3: All of the things are listening are recent, and that's okay.
- 34:24Speaker 4: But I'm saying he was here for twenty six years
- 34:26Speaker 4: and this stuff is just now.
- 34:28Speaker 2: And you're going to give him a seamid. I'm going
- 34:29Speaker 2: to give him probably a beat. I think that's very generous. Okay, Wow, man,
- 34:34Speaker 2: all right, then well that's not how I feel. All right,
- 34:37Speaker 2: So Mark Pope, as we had mentioned yesterday, somebody texted
- 34:41Speaker 2: it into me, which I really appreciate. Mark Pope was
- 34:44Speaker 2: on John Rothstein's podcast yesterday. If you didn't watch it,
- 34:47Speaker 2: I know you can go back and listen to it,
- 34:50Speaker 2: and the one thing that really stuck out is that
- 34:55Speaker 2: John Rosstein started talking about Rick Patino and Mark Pope
- 34:59Speaker 2: said he is open to a home and home against
- 35:02Speaker 2: Saint John's and uh Rick Patino the head coach. Uh,
- 35:06Speaker 2: they aren't there yet but will be in the near future.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Do you like the sound of that? Does that sound
- 35:14Speaker 2: promising or does that sound like he's just trying to
- 35:17Speaker 2: be nice?
- 35:19Speaker 3: I don't know, honestly.
- 35:20Speaker 4: I mean Rick Patino, if like, is a pretty straightforward dude,
- 35:23Speaker 4: Like he's kind of been that way. Yeah, So I mean, mate,
- 35:27Speaker 4: maybe I could see it happening.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Is it good for UK? I see this more as
- 35:33Speaker 2: a game that's good for Saint John's more than it's
- 35:36Speaker 2: good for UK. Is that fair to say? Or it
- 35:38Speaker 2: might be good for pro both programs. It certainly would
- 35:41Speaker 2: get a lot of attention. You know, you got a
- 35:43Speaker 2: player that's going to play against his former coach. What's
- 35:46Speaker 2: happened last year and Mark Pope got the best of that,
- 35:49Speaker 2: but it was on the neutral site. Do you like
- 35:52Speaker 2: that they potentially could be playing home and home. I
- 35:54Speaker 2: think it would be fantastic because I would like to
- 35:57Speaker 2: see Rick Patino bring his team back to Rapperina and
- 36:00Speaker 2: let Brick Patino get his ovation, which to me is
- 36:04Speaker 2: absolutely deserved.
- 36:07Speaker 3: I think it'd be good for both. You do, I
- 36:10Speaker 3: think it would be okay.
- 36:13Speaker 4: I mean, like you already said, what I was gonna
- 36:14Speaker 4: say is that, like he comes back and the fans,
- 36:17Speaker 4: you know, appreciate him and this and that. Like, I
- 36:19Speaker 4: don't think it goes any deeper than that. Like, I mean,
- 36:22Speaker 4: I don't think necessarily either of these teams really get
- 36:25Speaker 4: anything out of it. It'd just be for the fans
- 36:28Speaker 4: stuff like that'd be the only reason.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it'd be a good game. I mean, yeah, it's
- 36:33Speaker 3: a good game. But I mean, you could get good
- 36:34Speaker 3: games for anybody. The only fear I have is that
- 36:37Speaker 3: you're getting you're in the SEC, you get good games
- 36:39Speaker 3: every day.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:40Speaker 3: True.
- 36:40Speaker 2: And uh we've already had one former coach come back,
- 36:43Speaker 2: John Calipari, and they came back. There should not have
- 36:45Speaker 2: beaten Kentucky, but they did. And that's the one thing
- 36:49Speaker 2: I fear is that now Rick Patino will come in
- 36:51Speaker 2: to Reparina and beat Kentucky again. So I don't know,
- 36:54Speaker 2: it's just I think it would be good for both programs.
- 36:57Speaker 2: I think it'd be really good for Kentucky and bring
- 37:01Speaker 2: a good, good competitive school into Repperen and so the
- 37:05Speaker 2: fan base can watch a really good game because most
- 37:07Speaker 2: of the games outside of the SEC schedule are not
- 37:11Speaker 2: very good games. And that's that's just always one of
- 37:13Speaker 2: those things. I hate, these neutral site games. I just
- 37:16Speaker 2: don't like them. Pope also said that UK is fully
- 37:21Speaker 2: active in getting one more player to make the roster.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I mean that would make it right now, UK stands
- 37:28Speaker 2: at fourteen players. That would make it fifteen players. Was
- 37:31Speaker 2: he referring to Costa Rica, because you know Costa Rica
- 37:35Speaker 2: is now there's people giving.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Their load of.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Confidence that he's going to commit to UCLA. I mean
- 37:45Speaker 2: that just came out yesterday that you know that little
- 37:50Speaker 2: guy over there, Chris what's his name, Chris Cronin is
- 37:54Speaker 2: going to be getting Yeah, well whatever his name is,
- 37:57Speaker 2: that's a anyway, I just a you're raising your voice me. No,
- 38:00Speaker 2: absolutely not. Never would I do something like that. You
- 38:03Speaker 2: don't get the joke. No, you haven't seen that mccrona inview.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Oh that's right, I forgot about the Yeah, that was
- 38:10Speaker 2: that he's a clown. I know you said the players
- 38:14Speaker 2: like him. I love mccron do you really.
- 38:16Speaker 4: I love mc cronin for the same reason that I
- 38:20Speaker 4: love like Donald Trump.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Is not that I agree with the things they do
- 38:23Speaker 3: or say.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Yes, I think they are unintentionally some of the funniest
- 38:28Speaker 4: people on the planet.
- 38:29Speaker 3: You know, does that make sense? It does.
- 38:31Speaker 4: Like the things they do, their ignorance makes me laugh
- 38:34Speaker 4: so much that I just enjoy them. I'm trying to
- 38:36Speaker 4: think there's only one coach out there that I like
- 38:39Speaker 4: that is of a rival, and that would be Rick Barnes.
- 38:42Speaker 2: For some reason, I've always liked Rick Barnes, and I
- 38:45Speaker 2: can't answer you. Answer you why, I tell you why.
- 38:49Speaker 2: I just like Rick Barnes. I think he does a
- 38:51Speaker 2: nice job. I think Tennessee made a mistake by giving
- 38:54Speaker 2: him a lifetime contract. You thought they would have learned
- 38:59Speaker 2: from Kentucky don't give a lifetime contract, and Tennessee did it.
- 39:04Speaker 3: I don't know. I mean they're still making elite eights, Yeah.
- 39:07Speaker 2: That's about it, and they still beat Kentucky when accounts.
- 39:10Speaker 2: But you know Kentucky still continued to sweep them during
- 39:13Speaker 2: the season. I would rather lose in the season and
- 39:15Speaker 2: beat them in the tournament. But uh, that's just kind
- 39:18Speaker 2: of how I feel. All Right, we got to take
- 39:19Speaker 2: another break. I five O two four one four fourteen fifty. Also,
- 39:23Speaker 2: we're on YouTube. You can look us up at Big
- 39:27Speaker 2: X Sports Radio Louisville Plus. At the top of the hour,
- 39:31Speaker 2: my new producer is going to be here. So wait
- 39:33Speaker 2: for that too, stay right there. More just the Cats
- 39:35Speaker 2: coming up after this.
- 39:43Speaker 3: No, no, you keep playing this.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Somebody sent me a picture and said that, uh, Kanyie
- 39:55Speaker 2: Katan passed away in twenty twenty one. It's upsetting. So
- 39:59Speaker 2: she's not no longer with us. I'm so sorry to
- 40:01Speaker 2: hear that. Yeah, that's that's terrible news. But here we
- 40:04Speaker 2: are talking about I don't think I'm talking bad about her,
- 40:06Speaker 2: but happy Bobby Benia deferral day. Benie is set to
- 40:12Speaker 2: collect another one point one nine to three million from
- 40:15Speaker 2: the New York Mets today, as we will each July
- 40:19Speaker 2: first through the year twenty thirty five. That's coming from
- 40:23Speaker 2: John so Local John, So thank you there, John. I
- 40:26Speaker 2: appreciate that. That was one of my topics for a
- 40:29Speaker 2: little later. But that's okay, we'll go ahead and talk
- 40:31Speaker 2: it right now. I mean, that's just an amazing thing
- 40:35Speaker 2: that's happened because of the two thousand buyout agreement, where
- 40:38Speaker 2: the New York Mets deferred five point nine million dollars payout.
- 40:43Speaker 2: Instead of paying the lump sum up front, the Mets
- 40:46Speaker 2: agreed to pay him nearly one point two million annually
- 40:48Speaker 2: from twenty eleven to twenty thirty five, which includes a
- 40:53Speaker 2: negotiated eight percent annual interest rate. I think every player
- 40:57Speaker 2: should try and do something like this. While he was
- 41:01Speaker 2: never selected in the amateur draft, he was later picked
- 41:04Speaker 2: up by the Chicago White Sox in the real five
- 41:07Speaker 2: draft on December tenth, nineteen eighty five. I have to
- 41:10Speaker 2: get this rookie card. Yes, you're right about that, John,
- 41:13Speaker 2: I agree with him. I think this would help a
- 41:18Speaker 2: lot of players out there if they defer their salary
- 41:23Speaker 2: like this, because then they won't be spending all their
- 41:25Speaker 2: money and think they're in they're invincible with all their money.
- 41:29Speaker 3: What they don't need to do this?
- 41:32Speaker 4: They make millions of dollars, just learn some financial literacy.
- 41:37Speaker 3: They don't learn to be a little more. They don't
- 41:39Speaker 3: do it, So what do you do at that point?
- 41:42Speaker 4: I'm sorry if I literally do not care about these
- 41:46Speaker 4: rich people were going broke, I don't care.
- 41:48Speaker 3: You don't really generation so well, yeah, generational wealth.
- 41:51Speaker 4: But you decided to buy seven voats, You decided to
- 41:54Speaker 4: buy three homes, You decided to buy a new home
- 41:56Speaker 4: for every city you played in. You decided to have
- 42:01Speaker 4: this many families you gotta take care of now, all
- 42:03Speaker 4: these decisions you decide to make because you went broke
- 42:06Speaker 4: as your fault. I we don't need to be deferring
- 42:09Speaker 4: money to people that. These people don't need severance. They're gajillionaires,
- 42:16Speaker 4: they're fine.
- 42:17Speaker 2: I don't think you've checked out. I think you're fully
- 42:20Speaker 2: engaged in this show. I just wish because you said that,
- 42:23Speaker 2: get them a financial advisor, give them a wealth management advisor,
- 42:26Speaker 2: get them something. But I'm telling you, colleges don't do
- 42:30Speaker 2: it because they're getting they're paying these players all this money,
- 42:35Speaker 2: and neither does the NFL, the NBA, or any of them. Okay,
- 42:39Speaker 2: and these guys go out there and just I got it, entourage.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Now I'm gonna spend I'm gonna go out there and
- 42:44Speaker 2: buy a brand new car and buy my all my family.
- 42:47Speaker 3: And before they know it, it's like, what you feel
- 42:50Speaker 3: my agent got how much of this money?
- 42:52Speaker 5: Well?
- 42:53Speaker 3: I mean they're not.
- 42:54Speaker 4: Educated enough to know, Michael. Yes, I literally leave this
- 42:58Speaker 4: job tomorrow.
- 42:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:00Speaker 4: You think this place is gonna pay me for like
- 43:02Speaker 4: four months while I go find another job?
- 43:04Speaker 3: Or you think if I.
- 43:05Speaker 4: Found a job going, hey, can I defer a third
- 43:08Speaker 4: of my salary so that when I eventually leave here
- 43:11Speaker 4: I'll just keep getting paid?
- 43:13Speaker 5: Like?
- 43:13Speaker 3: No, they're not gonna do that. Why not ask? And
- 43:16Speaker 3: I'm making a hundred times less than these people are.
- 43:19Speaker 3: They don't need that. Yeah, okay, all right, my goodness,
- 43:22Speaker 3: are you okay?
- 43:23Speaker 1: Uh?
- 43:24Speaker 3: What do you think about Colin Chandler?
- 43:25Speaker 2: Last week the former UK guard uh set it on
- 43:28Speaker 2: a podcast where the uh uh BYU is a program
- 43:33Speaker 2: that cares about their athletics. Is that a knock and
- 43:39Speaker 2: a shot at UK?
- 43:40Speaker 3: Why is it not? I mean it sure sounds like
- 43:42Speaker 3: a little bit of a knock.
- 43:44Speaker 4: I saw this quote and he even comes back on it,
- 43:46Speaker 4: and he saw the replies. He got to it and
- 43:49Speaker 4: was like, this isn't about Kentucky and we stopped looking
- 43:53Speaker 4: into this stuff. The dude was just trying to he
- 43:55Speaker 4: was doing his pr answer for by oh, okay, okay,
- 43:59Speaker 4: I don't think this has anything to do with any university.
- 44:02Speaker 4: I don't think this has anything to do with this
- 44:03Speaker 4: and that. Like and I saw the post, I saw
- 44:07Speaker 4: the quote they made. I saw the replies as well. Yeah,
- 44:11Speaker 4: blowing this out of proportion. Okay uh.
- 44:13Speaker 2: He also said that he and his wife mutually agreed
- 44:17Speaker 2: to the move back to bring him young and Utah,
- 44:21Speaker 2: do you believe that? I mean, maybe, I know his
- 44:25Speaker 2: wife probably had.
- 44:27Speaker 4: I don't believe that at all, But I mean, you
- 44:30Speaker 4: don't think that like six seven million dollars are gonna
- 44:33Speaker 4: pay him is gonna help with that?
- 44:35Speaker 3: You don't think that he would have been paid that here? No? Yeah,
- 44:40Speaker 3: is he getting six or seven? Men? See why?
- 44:43Speaker 4: I just know it's more than he was getting a
- 44:44Speaker 4: Kentucky Brown Yeah, I just try not that much.
- 44:47Speaker 3: But he's getting more than I think he would have got.
- 44:48Speaker 5: Here.
- 44:48Speaker 2: The old saying goes happy Why happy life? She wasn't
- 44:53Speaker 2: happy in Lexington and she wanted to get back to
- 44:55Speaker 2: the family. That's what I think. Colin Chandler, Why would
- 44:59Speaker 2: you leave Kentucky where the fan base is Rabbit over you.
- 45:04Speaker 2: They love you, and you've got a better shot at
- 45:08Speaker 2: going deeper in the tournament, hopefully winning a championship than BYU. Ever,
- 45:13Speaker 2: will you can't convince me anymore that a player would
- 45:17Speaker 2: pick BYU over UK because of their fan base.
- 45:23Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know. I've never been to a
- 45:25Speaker 3: WYU game, so I could.
- 45:27Speaker 2: I don't need to go to a BYU game. I
- 45:28Speaker 2: already know the answer. I mean, the dude is they'll
- 45:31Speaker 2: be half packed next year in regular season games, whereas
- 45:35Speaker 2: exhibition games will be not sold out, but they'll be
- 45:38Speaker 2: pretty full and the fans will be going crazy. Just
- 45:41Speaker 2: like when he's out out and about walking around the sidewalk,
- 45:43Speaker 2: fans will be going to him wanting his autograph, wanting
- 45:46Speaker 2: a picture with him. When he goes to BYU, he'll
- 45:48Speaker 2: be walking around the sidewalk wherever BYUS is in Utah,
- 45:52Speaker 2: and nobody will say a word to him.
- 45:55Speaker 4: Okay, fine, Look, I generally don't think he cares. The
- 45:59Speaker 4: dude like I think his wife obviously wanted to go
- 46:02Speaker 4: back to U I U, you know, for her business
- 46:03Speaker 4: and whatever. Right he is getting paid a hefty lump
- 46:06Speaker 4: some to go there. I don't he's coming to the
- 46:11Speaker 4: end of his career. I don't really see him having
- 46:13Speaker 4: a huge NBA career. I mean maybe he's just I
- 46:18Speaker 4: don't think he cares.
- 46:19Speaker 3: Oh, you think he's going to have an NBA.
- 46:21Speaker 4: Career, that's if I'm saying. If he does, I don't
- 46:24Speaker 4: think he'll be very happy. I think he can make
- 46:25Speaker 4: like a two way contract somewhere and have a try,
- 46:27Speaker 4: and I think he's athletic enough for that. But I
- 46:29Speaker 4: don't think he's I think he's just taking the money,
- 46:32Speaker 4: doing what his wife wants to do and saying, you
- 46:34Speaker 4: know what, I'll get paid for one more year.
- 46:36Speaker 3: We'll put this money away. We can do whatever we
- 46:38Speaker 3: want after that. Yeah.
- 46:39Speaker 2: I was disappointed about Oscar she Bay, you know, in
- 46:43Speaker 2: him just being totally dumped speaking of his contract in
- 46:48Speaker 2: the NBA.
- 46:49Speaker 4: I mean he's just undersized and he never developed like
- 46:51Speaker 4: an offensive side.
- 46:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and they say it's because a lot of the reasons.
- 46:55Speaker 2: He can't shoot the three at all. Yeah, but he
- 47:00Speaker 2: gets rebounds.
- 47:01Speaker 3: And he scores. Okay, doesn't that matter. That's ninety percent
- 47:04Speaker 3: of the league, Michael.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, So it's all about even your big
- 47:09Speaker 2: man going out there and making threes.
- 47:11Speaker 3: But right now, Yes, that's where the sport's going. I
- 47:14Speaker 3: love you playing this white Snake. Yeah, I'm playing Whitesnake
- 47:16Speaker 3: right now. Oh my gosh.
- 47:19Speaker 2: This song back in the day when this movie came
- 47:21Speaker 2: out was so overplayed. But anyway, here we go. When
- 47:23Speaker 2: we come back, come back, because my new producer is
- 47:27Speaker 2: going to be here. Justin Klin, I want you to
- 47:29Speaker 2: meet him. We'll be right back. Hour two, coming right up.
- 47:44Speaker 4: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 47:51Speaker 2: All right, nour number two on this Wednesday, July first.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Hard to believe. I mean, I just can't believe it's
- 47:57Speaker 2: July first. We are halfway through twenty twenty six, and
- 48:00Speaker 2: before you know it, we are going to be uh
- 48:03Speaker 2: talking about Thanksgiving, Christmas and everything else. Is like, oh
- 48:06Speaker 2: my goodness. But joining us right now is a gentleman
- 48:10Speaker 2: I don't know if I've ever met before, but we'll
- 48:12Speaker 2: see if you know he jogs my memory or not.
- 48:16Speaker 2: But our new producer also hopes of some show that's
- 48:20Speaker 2: called Sunrise with Scoots. We'll have to see if we're
- 48:24Speaker 2: going to do any cross talk because he never answered me.
- 48:26Speaker 2: But justin Caylin, how's my best friend doing well?
- 48:32Speaker 5: Michael Bennet. Before I say anything else this morning, I
- 48:35Speaker 5: have got to start out with Man, it feels like
- 48:38Speaker 5: a great day to beat some Bosnians.
- 48:40Speaker 2: I have no idea what you're talking about, but I
- 48:45Speaker 2: guess it's that stinking soccer. But well, yeah, exactly, And
- 48:51Speaker 2: I bet you can guess how much of this World
- 48:52Speaker 2: Cup I've watched. But justin you'll be proud of me
- 48:56Speaker 2: the entire time as you as you've been listening somewhat.
- 49:01Speaker 2: My friend over here, Matthew Childress, has had a segment
- 49:06Speaker 2: twice a week about the World Cup. I mean, come on,
- 49:09Speaker 2: you gotta give me a little credit for that.
- 49:11Speaker 5: Yeah. No, I've heard the soccer segments. I've really enjoyed
- 49:14Speaker 5: the soccer segments. I am unlike you, Michael. I have
- 49:19Speaker 5: watched every single game. Maybe I missed a game here
- 49:22Speaker 5: or there, but I have. You might as well have
- 49:24Speaker 5: given me that fifty thousand to go sit in that
- 49:26Speaker 5: box in Times Square, because I have watched a ton
- 49:29Speaker 5: of soccer the last few weeks. It's been awesome.
- 49:32Speaker 3: I forgot all about that. You're right to fifty thousand.
- 49:35Speaker 5: That's right.
- 49:35Speaker 2: I completely forgotten all about that good memory right there.
- 49:38Speaker 2: So Uh, you know, I was a little worried as
- 49:42Speaker 2: what was going to happen when you know, when Matthew
- 49:45Speaker 2: was hired back and taken over for you, and then
- 49:48Speaker 2: who's going to take over? When Matthews headed to Florida
- 49:51Speaker 2: and all this just transpired, and then Lloyd behold, you're
- 49:56Speaker 2: coming back? What kind of give us a little rundown?
- 50:00Speaker 2: What all happened here?
- 50:03Speaker 5: So I don't really want to get into it all
- 50:05Speaker 5: that deeply because I'm pausing to look at it in
- 50:10Speaker 5: the mindset of what happens happened. Everything happens for a reason,
- 50:15Speaker 5: which I also had the same mindset with as to
- 50:18Speaker 5: my return. I mean, everything happens for a reason. So
- 50:21Speaker 5: there were some things that needed to go a certain direction,
- 50:25Speaker 5: and low and behold they did. So I decided, you know,
- 50:29Speaker 5: it'd be the best move for me to just come back.
- 50:32Speaker 5: I love big X, I love doing my own show.
- 50:35Speaker 5: I love interacting with the text line on each and
- 50:39Speaker 5: every show that I produce or do, so it's just
- 50:41Speaker 5: for me. It was a no brainer. I just I
- 50:44Speaker 5: missed the interaction with the text line and the listeners,
- 50:47Speaker 5: and that was that was something for the last five
- 50:50Speaker 5: weeks that to be honest with you, I've really struggled
- 50:52Speaker 5: with now. I will say, on top of that, it
- 50:55Speaker 5: has been very, very nice watching sports from a gambling
- 51:00Speaker 5: perspective or just stay I want to have fun perspective
- 51:04Speaker 5: as opposed to well, I gotta have a take on this,
- 51:07Speaker 5: so let me pay attention and get my takes ready,
- 51:09Speaker 5: so that part of the last five weeks has been
- 51:12Speaker 5: very enjoyable.
- 51:14Speaker 3: I couldn't agree with you more.
- 51:16Speaker 2: So, should we have a little segment of you know,
- 51:19Speaker 2: because this is our last time to do this, a
- 51:21Speaker 2: little segment of Scoots and Toots, which was my dream,
- 51:25Speaker 2: baby is you know, when when I retire and leave,
- 51:28Speaker 2: I was hoping that Scoots and Toots was going to
- 51:31Speaker 2: take over just the cats and Matthew. I'm just gonna
- 51:34Speaker 2: hand it over to you and let everybody enjoy a
- 51:36Speaker 2: little Scoots and Toots.
- 51:38Speaker 5: Let's do it.
- 51:39Speaker 4: That's an interesting decision, Michael, because I have nothing prep
- 51:41Speaker 4: for this.
- 51:43Speaker 5: We're not talking.
- 51:43Speaker 3: About We're not supposed to have anything prep.
- 51:46Speaker 4: This is just you know, go as you are, all right,
- 51:48Speaker 4: So justin you said that you've obviously been watching a
- 51:50Speaker 4: lot of the World Cup, and you've been jumping into it,
- 51:52Speaker 4: and you've been really excited about it. Is is this
- 51:54Speaker 4: your first iteration of this US soccer team or have
- 51:57Speaker 4: you been bought it before?
- 51:59Speaker 5: I can honestly say that I have never been bought in,
- 52:03Speaker 5: and I don't know that I am one thousand percent
- 52:07Speaker 5: bought in on this team. And that's not that's not
- 52:10Speaker 5: a knock on this USA soccer team. They have been
- 52:13Speaker 5: very enjoyable to watch. I think they've got at least
- 52:16Speaker 5: two more games left to play, maybe three wins. We'll
- 52:19Speaker 5: see what ends up happening if they end up having
- 52:21Speaker 5: to play Belgium. But no, I mean, for me, Matt,
- 52:24Speaker 5: it's just I know how good the rest of the
- 52:27Speaker 5: world is. I mean, if you've watched France this World Cup,
- 52:30Speaker 5: they are looking like completely unbeatable team. So I don't
- 52:35Speaker 5: know that anybody gets past them. I mean, you've got
- 52:37Speaker 5: a bunch of the world powers that are always, in
- 52:40Speaker 5: my opinion, going to be better than the United States.
- 52:42Speaker 5: Does the United States get lucky and push through eventually
- 52:45Speaker 5: and win one of these World Cups? I do believe that,
- 52:48Speaker 5: but I just I don't think that it's this year.
- 52:51Speaker 5: Although this team has been a lot of fun to watch,
- 52:53Speaker 5: so it's it's been very enjoyable.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Like I said, well, there have been surprises, some surprises
- 52:58Speaker 2: as well. Matthew, right, and Justin because of the fact
- 53:01Speaker 2: that Germany went down, wasn't there another real big one
- 53:04Speaker 2: that just went down recently.
- 53:07Speaker 4: The Netherlands, but they lost the Netherlands they lost to
- 53:09Speaker 4: Morocco though Moroccos are a really good team.
- 53:11Speaker 3: Oh they are? Yeah, okay, all right, So if.
- 53:15Speaker 2: Y'all all right, so should we just do the segment
- 53:17Speaker 2: right now of soccer is and have Justin involved in this?
- 53:20Speaker 3: How much time do you have, Justin?
- 53:22Speaker 5: I got as much time as you perfect raise that.
- 53:26Speaker 5: Let me rephrase that, I've got as much time as
- 53:28Speaker 5: you want to pay me for. Michael Bennett.
- 53:29Speaker 2: Oh okay, well nice having you on this morning, Joe,
- 53:36Speaker 2: but go ahead, Matthew. I mean it's it's they play tonight.
- 53:39Speaker 2: They're playing Bosnia and Herzegovina. So it's twenty two on
- 53:44Speaker 2: eleven tonight.
- 53:46Speaker 3: Twenty two on eleven. I have no idea what you're saying,
- 53:48Speaker 3: because they're playing Bosnia and Hurtzegovina as a joke.
- 53:51Speaker 5: Okay, I was thinking they were playing.
- 53:53Speaker 4: I don't get it because their country is named Bosnia
- 53:56Speaker 4: and Hurtzegovina.
- 53:57Speaker 3: There's eleven players for team. Come on, is that another
- 54:00Speaker 3: nobody got Nobody got this joke?
- 54:03Speaker 2: No, I didn't get it. I did, thank you, justin
- 54:05Speaker 2: I appreciate it. Okay, how much soccer I've been watching?
- 54:08Speaker 2: I mean, how did you expect me to?
- 54:09Speaker 4: That wasn't even a soccer joke. It was a play
- 54:11Speaker 4: on work. It was just a joke of playing on words.
- 54:13Speaker 5: I mean, well, it's like saying, when somebody has to
- 54:17Speaker 5: play Robert Morris, well they should win that one because
- 54:20Speaker 5: they only got to play one guy.
- 54:21Speaker 3: Yeah, same thing.
- 54:23Speaker 5: Similar.
- 54:23Speaker 3: Oh boy, that's bad.
- 54:25Speaker 4: Okay, right, they played Bosnian the night they play at
- 54:28Speaker 4: eight PM. I think the coverage for that game starts
- 54:30Speaker 4: actually at six. This is also the first time in
- 54:33Speaker 4: World Cup history the United States will play a knockout
- 54:35Speaker 4: round on primetime television. It's always been playing in kind
- 54:38Speaker 4: of garbage time on TV. It's been played early in
- 54:40Speaker 4: the morning, so the world wasn't really watching about that.
- 54:45Speaker 4: There wasn't really watching. But all eyes are gonna be
- 54:48Speaker 4: on the US tonight, which is super exciting.
- 54:50Speaker 6: Uh.
- 54:51Speaker 4: From what I've watched in this tournament, I've seen before,
- 54:53Speaker 4: like in the in the qualifying stage. This is a
- 54:54Speaker 4: team you can't really sleep on. Michael, I kind of
- 54:58Speaker 4: compared them to you the other day to like an
- 54:59Speaker 4: eleven and seeing the tournament. Yeah, they're a team that
- 55:02Speaker 4: you know kind of got They made it in by
- 55:05Speaker 4: their winning their conference.
- 55:07Speaker 3: And you know they have a lot of veteran leadership
- 55:09Speaker 3: on this team. It's a lot of all.
- 55:10Speaker 4: I mean, they're led by a guy in the name
- 55:12Speaker 4: of Edin Jecco who's like forty Okay, this is look,
- 55:14Speaker 4: they're starting strikers. Dude, he's been around since I have
- 55:16Speaker 4: been a child. This dude has been a large name
- 55:20Speaker 4: in soccer for a long time. He's playing a lot
- 55:22Speaker 4: of really high profile clubs. So his career well, Messi's
- 55:25Speaker 4: that old too, isn't he Yes, he is nowhere near
- 55:28Speaker 4: Messy level though.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Oh he's not.
- 55:29Speaker 4: He's good, but he's not He's not messy good. This dude,
- 55:32Speaker 4: he is probably is going to be his last World Cup.
- 55:34Speaker 4: I'd imagine he's the guy you kind of need to
- 55:37Speaker 4: look for in terms of the attack. But on their
- 55:39Speaker 4: defensive side, they do have some decent young talent. This
- 55:42Speaker 4: is a team that plays really well together and they
- 55:45Speaker 4: can get going really fast. You saw it in their
- 55:46Speaker 4: last group stage game and they won three to zero
- 55:49Speaker 4: or three one.
- 55:49Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 55:51Speaker 4: They're gonna play a similar style to how we've seen
- 55:54Speaker 4: when we played Paraguay, we played Australia, where they're gonna
- 55:57Speaker 4: try and slow this game down. They're gonna try and
- 56:00Speaker 4: get a goal off the counterattack and then basically take
- 56:02Speaker 4: over them and then then from there and then try
- 56:04Speaker 4: and run the score upon us from that on. But
- 56:06Speaker 4: so the goal for us here basically come out be
- 56:09Speaker 4: the aggressors. Pressure, counter pressure, you know, step on their throats.
- 56:13Speaker 4: If you have to try and get a goal early
- 56:15Speaker 4: and just run away with it. It's gonna be our
- 56:17Speaker 4: goal for tonight.
- 56:18Speaker 5: You know what I'm sick of hearing in regards to
- 56:20Speaker 5: this game is that it's gonna be a tough one
- 56:23Speaker 5: for the United States. I don't die that. I think
- 56:25Speaker 5: the United States runs away with this thing that I'm
- 56:28Speaker 5: feeling a three zero, three one type game. Yeah, Bosnia
- 56:32Speaker 5: and Hertz Convenia is okay, But I just I don't
- 56:36Speaker 5: think this is gonna be a tough game. I think
- 56:37Speaker 5: the US wins this game comfortably. I woke up feeling great.
- 56:40Speaker 5: I still feel great. Time eight o'clock tonight, I'll feel
- 56:43Speaker 5: great US Rocks Base.
- 56:45Speaker 2: He's making me nervous, Matthew. I'm just gonna tell you
- 56:48Speaker 2: right now, anytime he predicts something good for, you know,
- 56:52Speaker 2: the team that you want to win, he always loses.
- 56:54Speaker 2: I mean, how do you feel about Justin's prediction? It
- 56:58Speaker 2: does make me a little nervous.
- 57:00Speaker 4: Of the times that we've done scoots and Toots and
- 57:02Speaker 4: we talked about Kentucky basketball. It seems like every single
- 57:04Speaker 4: time you pick Kentucky to lose, they win. Every time
- 57:06Speaker 4: he picks them the win, they lose. So that does
- 57:09Speaker 4: in the back of my head a little bit. But
- 57:10Speaker 4: I don't I don't disagree with Justin. This is a
- 57:12Speaker 4: game that the United States, if they play their brand
- 57:14Speaker 4: of soccer and they play it the way they have been,
- 57:16Speaker 4: even if they're not playing their best game, they should
- 57:19Speaker 4: win this game.
- 57:20Speaker 3: I my original prediction was arount three to one.
- 57:23Speaker 4: I think they get an early goal, maybe they give
- 57:24Speaker 4: up one in late time, late stage in the game
- 57:26Speaker 4: or something like that. I think if they play a
- 57:28Speaker 4: pretty poor game, they can still win this game around
- 57:30Speaker 4: like two to one or so. The only thing we
- 57:33Speaker 4: need to do my biggest goal for this matchup, and
- 57:36Speaker 4: you've seen it across World Cup already. Do not let
- 57:38Speaker 4: any game go to penalty kicks.
- 57:40Speaker 5: Do not.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Our goalkeeper has no experience.
- 57:42Speaker 4: He's young, he's athletic, and he's a great keeper, but
- 57:45Speaker 4: he plays in the MLS.
- 57:46Speaker 3: He's not, you know, been tested in this World Cup
- 57:48Speaker 3: very much.
- 57:48Speaker 4: Yet he's only had to make three or four saves
- 57:51Speaker 4: total his entire World Cup campaign. Stay out of penalty kicks,
- 57:55Speaker 4: keep this game in regulation time, get it done.
- 57:57Speaker 3: I agree with Justin.
- 57:58Speaker 4: I think that they I haven't been impressed with the
- 58:02Speaker 4: way Belgium has looked. They're another team that's relying on
- 58:05Speaker 4: some very very old men on their team. They got
- 58:08Speaker 4: Kevin de Bruyne and Romolu Lucaku who have been on
- 58:11Speaker 4: their team for a really, really long time, but they're
- 58:13Speaker 4: both pushing their forties. These guys don't look anywhere near
- 58:16Speaker 4: they have been. They haven't been impressive. I think they
- 58:18Speaker 4: could beat that team if they get there. But tonight,
- 58:20Speaker 4: like I said as Bosnia, I agree with Justin on
- 58:23Speaker 4: this this one. Rarely I'm gonna agree with Justin. I
- 58:25Speaker 4: think they should handle business in this game you know.
- 58:26Speaker 2: What impresses me the most, Justin, is that Matthew doesn't
- 58:32Speaker 2: use a single note and he knows all these players.
- 58:35Speaker 2: He can say their names perfectly. It's like, how do
- 58:38Speaker 2: you do this? But I'm sorry, go ahead, Justin.
- 58:42Speaker 5: I was just gonna say I completely agree with the
- 58:44Speaker 5: whole penalty situation. I mean, look at Manuel Noyer with
- 58:47Speaker 5: Germany the other night. Dude came out of retirement to
- 58:50Speaker 5: play for them and then has to face penalties and
- 58:52Speaker 5: low and behold, they end up losing. But I'm said
- 58:55Speaker 5: for years, penalty kicks are the best way to end
- 58:59Speaker 5: the soccer game unless you have a dog in the fight.
- 59:03Speaker 5: Then suddenly it becomes the worst way to end the
- 59:06Speaker 5: soccer games. So I agree, do not go to penalties
- 59:08Speaker 5: to night, please.
- 59:09Speaker 4: And that's the thing is because these teams they play
- 59:13Speaker 4: like a similar RANDF soccer we've seen where they'll put
- 59:15Speaker 4: five guys in the back line.
- 59:17Speaker 3: They'll try and slow the game down.
- 59:18Speaker 4: Because a lot of these teams, especially when they're playing
- 59:20Speaker 4: against the Germany's, the Brazils, the Portugals, they're gonna do
- 59:24Speaker 4: their best to slow this game down as.
- 59:25Speaker 3: Much they want to go to penalty kicks. They don't.
- 59:27Speaker 4: They don't like, yes, they're gonna try and score in
- 59:29Speaker 4: the game, but their goal is to try and make
- 59:31Speaker 4: it through extra time. Get to penalty kicks, because then
- 59:33Speaker 4: it's basically a fifty to fifty shot. It's can can
- 59:36Speaker 4: you get lucky? Can one team be Is our mental
- 59:38Speaker 4: state better than theirs?
- 59:39Speaker 5: You know?
- 59:39Speaker 4: Can our goalkeeper guess right one or two times? Like
- 59:42Speaker 4: these teams want to go to penalty kicks. These underdogs,
- 59:45Speaker 4: that's how they win these games. So if you're the
- 59:47Speaker 4: United States, you cannot play conservative. I know this is
- 59:49Speaker 4: a stage you know you have been at pretty frequently.
- 59:52Speaker 4: And these the players here, they play in their first
- 59:55Speaker 4: World Cup ever four years ago. They have a World
- 59:57Speaker 4: Cup under their belt. They have the confidence you to
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: go out there and be the aggressor like you've been
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: the last two games.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: Where is this game being played, Santa Clara. It's in
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: the forty nine ers stadium.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: Okay, so yeah, thank you, because I you say Santa Clara,
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: I have no idea. That's that's the thing that's really
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: ticked me off about this whole thinking soccer thing.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: Stop with the.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Whole I know these stadiums by their name it's Levi
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Is that right. I believe it's Levi Stadium, Yes, exactly,
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: so I know them by that. I just I don't
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: get the same. But I don't get it.
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: The rest of the world does not know those stadium
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: names much.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: That's not my problem. That's what they'll learn.
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: Why, that's why it's Boston Stadium.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: In dallas Borough.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but but you know what you want me to
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: learn soccer, then you learn my stadiums. Okay, I think
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: it's even trade. Now we're getting political on this.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Oh, we're not getting political at all. Stop it.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Yah, Tampa can't come soon enough for you. Just kidding,
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: I should That was a little overboard.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: No, it's okay. I'm just as excited as Michael ben. No,
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: it's not true. You know that's not true.
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: So don't ever say something Justin he I want you
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: to know this, Okay, this is something that we all
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: joked about for a really long time. Obviously, the entire
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: time you haven't been here. He has called me Justin
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: Kaylor every single day, every single day.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: No, wait a minute, I am I not surprised by that.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: I know, I know, and guess what, when you come
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: on Monday, I'm gonna start calling you Matthew, so.
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: Well that will be unaccepted.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: All right, So you're you're starting back up seven o'clock
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: Monday morning. I'll be there and then you're gonna be
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: here on all the shows up until what noon I
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: believe it is, or eleven.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: And the best part about being gone. You've been working
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: for your dad and you've lost a little bit of weight.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: Is that true? Is that still happening for you?
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: I have, yes, I'm down roughly fifteen pounds.
- 1:01:54Speaker 6: Wow.
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: Actually, so I was really excited about this week with
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: it being as hot as it's gonna be, and I
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: was like, man, I'm gonna lose so much weight this week.
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: My plan was to I wasn't even gonna drink this week.
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: I was like, hecky elves, I'll lose all tons of weight.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: Well, have to drink.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: No.
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: Then I woke up on Sunday morning and my right
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: foot was killing. So for the last two days I
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: have been treating it like I had a gout flour
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: up or something. I've never dealt with gout, so I
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: had no idea what it felt like. So I was
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: just under the assumption that it was gut well, come
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: to find out, it's something my mom deals with as well.
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: I've real some sort of stress ligament in my foot,
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: and so for the last three days I have looked
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: like the most crippled personal life, like I can barely walk. So,
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: needless to say, I didn't get to work with Pops
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: this week, which really sucks because I would have dropped
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: another ten pounds. But yeah, it's been good. It's been
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: nice losing some weight I needed to do that. I
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: needed to lose probably about forty more pounds, so I'll
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: have to find a way to manufacture that when I
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: get back in radio.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: I know t J. Walker is dying to know. Are
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: we gonna be back up with crosstalk?
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: I reckon we can bring no no.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: No, don't let me for something. I Am not here
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: to tell you what to do on your.
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: Show, Michael, Michael, you know me. I'm a man of
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: the people. What the people want, the people get. They
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: want some cross talk, We're gonna do some.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: I think we need to take a vote. Then we
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: should we find out if people want If they do it,
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: then yes, then if they don't, then know.
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: I like it. I'm down, all right.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: Matthew did you have something else you wanted to say.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: You were reaching over there.
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: I was gonna say, justin, can just come in here
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: and just crank up they turn the AC off, cranking
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: up to like eighty in here and then sweat them.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: No, No, I mean this place is.
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: That's a good point, you know, Matt. It's funny you
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: mentioned that when I was actually living down in Jacksonville
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: and I lost about sixty pounds one year. I would
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: get in my car after work, and you know how hot.
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: It's ridiculously hot. But I would get in my car
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: after work and I would roll my windows up and
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: I would crank my heat as high as it would go,
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: and I would ride like that all the way home.
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: So I just sweat bullets all the way home.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Wow, and you didn't see a therapist after this?
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: No, no, it's it's just it felt like part of
- 1:04:23Speaker 5: my weight loss for a tine.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: Interesting. Okay, well that's that's a sauna. I mean, I
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: bet that car smelled all kinds of crazy.
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: Luckily, I don't stink when I sweat, so we were good.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: Everybody stinks when they sweat. Don't give me that, Michael.
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: Come run a mini marathon with me.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: You don't smell after No, I'll be good.
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: Hey, I see Scoots and Michael Bennett run a mini marathon?
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: Is the day that I actually I'll put money on
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: the Reds to win the World Series?
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: What now? Why? Why do you?
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: Why do you give me such low confidence that I
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: couldn't run a mini marathon?
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: Would you run them any marathon? Michael?
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: I don't feel like it, That's what I thought. Yeah,
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: I just I don't know. It's just I've always wanted
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: to do the mini here in town, just to say
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: I've done it. My wife has done it. I just
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: I don't know. I just I hate running, all right.
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: One more thing, justin how are you feeling about the Reds?
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: Looking ten times where I stated last season.
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: I'm pretty well done with the Reds. I have not
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: paid attention. I do watch the score basically every night,
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: but I do not watch games anymore. They this season's
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: felt like it's been over for a few weeks now.
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: I don't know if either of y'all saw the kirkkurb
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: Street text or tweet from last night. He was fonding
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: to a fan and basically said, this season's been over
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: for weeks, and I agree with that. It's They've had
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: fun moments, but I can't do it anymore.
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: Spears brings it up literally every show talking about all
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: the Reds won again or lost it again. And we
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: had a conversation the other day about they're only like
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: four and a half or five and a half games
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: back from the wild Card and I'm like, John, stop
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: telling me this.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: I don't care. They could be forty five games back.
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: They could be half a game back for all I care.
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: Stop trying to give people hope. We're just getting out
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: of here.
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: I agree. I'm honestly at this point, I'm more excited
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: for the TVT.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: One topic that I wanted to bring up with Justin
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: on the air, and Matthew, I want your response first,
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: because I don't want it to be swayed anyway from
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: our good friend Justin Kaylin. But Justin Calen's joining us
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: right now because he's coming back Monday with Scoots Sunrise
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: with Scoots, as well as producing and co hosting on
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: justic Cats Now. So it was announced that Lebron James
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: is no longer going to be with the Lakers, and
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: he waited to make that announcement until the day after
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: his son's Bronni's contract became guaranteed with the Lakers, which
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: happened the day before Lebron Williams made that announcement. I
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: want to know from you, matth was that a good
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: move or was that something that? I mean, he really
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: took it to the Lakers doing something like that.
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: I mean, this man has screwed the Lakers over the
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: past four years in drafting Bronnie, putting all this capital
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: in him. He basically got the Lakers to pull him
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: out of the G League, put him on the roster.
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: He's gotten minutes now and now he's basically forced them
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: to finalize his contract, keep them there on the Lakers.
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: He's gonna get dropped of the G League basically immediately
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: assume as Lebron's off this team.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: So it doesn't do I respect it? Not at all?
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: Not a single bit do I respect this at all.
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: This dude wasn't even a top He wasn't even a
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: starter for his college team at USC when he played there.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: This dude's in the NBA making money.
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: These are the people that Michael Bennett feels bad for
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: because they run out of money too.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: I do not yet.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: This man is piggybacking his career for Bronnie to make it,
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: make a career out of himself in the NBA. He's
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: basically just banking on hopefully he locks in at some
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: point gets good enough where he doesn't need his help.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: And boy, Bronnie times running out.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: You got to figure this out, all right, justin when
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: you saw that, what did you think about it?
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: First? Let me say this, there are three things that
- 1:08:10Speaker 5: I have not missed the last five weeks, and I
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: don't know how I'm gonna deal with them when I
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: do get back into the studio. But man, I've been
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: really excited not talking about Lebron, not talking about Taylor Swift,
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: and not trying to not having to hear you struggle
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: through Sayla familiar. Those three things not being in my
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: life have been absolutely incredible. So we'll cross that bridge
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: when we get there in terms of when I get back.
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: But now, I mean, it didn't I didn't think anything
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: about it. I mean, they've got to be their own person,
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: right Like, if you're Bronni, you can't cling to Lebron
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: your whole life. So at some point, Papa's got to
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: throw the bird out the nest and see if he
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: can fly, you know, so I think we've all knew
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: that Lebron the likely landing spot was probably gonna be Cleveland.
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: That just seems like what makes the most sense in
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: your career, where you saw it in your hometown and
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: all that. So I think what Bron's gonna go back
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: to Cleveland? And I don't really give one iota about
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: Bronnie and what he does from here on it.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: See, I kind of ranked this up there with Bruce
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: Pearl and Steven Pearl. What Bruce Pearl did to Auburn.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: Which do you think is worse what Bruce Pearl did
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: to Auburn or what Lebron James did to the Lakers?
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: Bruce, And it's not even close.
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: See, I think you're right. I believe that, Matthew.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: Are you kind of on the same page as far
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: as that goes to Bruce Pearl was far worse what
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: he did to Auburn than what Lebron James did to
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: the Lakers?
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not close.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, all right, then let me just check and
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: all right then anything else we need to add here.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: I know I've got a couple of texts Josh said
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: justin Scoots never left. He just took off the first
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: month of the I sixty five shutdown to let the
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: smoke clear.
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: I think that that was that was a huge advantage
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: to this all going down when it did. Yes, very
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: very well, said there.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: Josh One Texterter said, Scoots is back. Gee, I guess
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: sometimes people don't know what they've got till it's gone.
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I would agree with that. Yeah, I would definitely
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: agree with that. So, I mean, I I listen, I
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: love having Matthew, I want. My problem is I want
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: both of you here. That's my problem. And because when
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Matthew leaves, I mean, it's just going to be kind
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: of sad. But at least I got you back, so
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: that that's that's the best part. But justin I I
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: will say, I'm excited that you're coming back. I mean,
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: it put a smile on my face. I know I
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: screwed up a little last week because uh, I know,
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: I know, I don't.
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: Want don't worry. Don't worry. Michael john Spears yesterday on
- 1:10:52Speaker 5: his show just said it outright.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: Okay, at least I didn't do that.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: I did keep a little bit of a secret. I
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: never said your name, but I just said he's coming back.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: So anyway, I didn't mess up, but I am excited
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: and can't wait for you.
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: Any more Scoots and tuts. Are we done with the
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: scoots and toots? Guys? I don't have anything else.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: Oh it's so sad man. I don't prep prepared. You
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: should have been prepared.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: I didn't. I didn't prep. I'm sorry.
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: I thought Justin would come with all the material. It's
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: his Oh, his job already.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: Wow. Is there a segment you want to start up
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: Justin before you take off?
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: No? I didn't prep either because I haven't been working
- 1:11:31Speaker 5: and radio.
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: Don't worry because you have. You don't prep anyway. You've
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: always told me I just get up and get ready
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: to go, which I love.
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: You're not wrong.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: Yeah, well, congratulations. I'm proud of you on the weight loss.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: I'm proud of you for making the decision to come back,
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: and I know a lot of people are going to
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: be excited about that. So looking forward to Monday, you'll
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: be back seven eight ms sunrise with Scoots and then
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: you know, be right here with me on Just the
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: Cats too.
- 1:11:58Speaker 5: Yep, absolutely as well. And if anyone's listening to this,
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: tell your friends let everybody know that we'll be doing
- 1:12:04Speaker 5: this thing starting up on this Monday. Yeah, I am
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: excited about it. I was excited to come on with
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: you this morning, Michael. Thanks for having me, and hopefully
- 1:12:13Speaker 5: all enjoy the rest of your show.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: Well, and not just that, but hopefully, like maybe forty eight, handly.
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: Will come back at this point, don't you.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: There are people that say I'm no longer coming back
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: to listen to this radio station.
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: There have been several people that I've been in touch
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: with and I know no longer listen that we'll be
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: back in the fold. Actually, I'm so personally guarantee you.
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: I'm so glad to hear.
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: All Right, that's Justin Kaylen justin, have a great long weekend,
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: and we'll see you Monday morning, bright and early at
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: seven am. See guys, go USI all right, there you go,
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: Justin Kaylin aka Scoots. So all right, we're going to
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: take a break. Uh and I'll get back to your
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: text as well. But if you want to text in
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: on the Whiskey Thief text line, do that at five
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: O two four one four fourteen fifty stay right there.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: More than just the cats.
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: Favorite winter the spring.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: If you want to make a.
- 1:13:13Speaker 6: Look at yourself, if you want to look at yourself.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: I think that's my favorite Michael Jackson's song. Really man, Yeah,
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: it really is. I've always loved that song and the
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: sad part about it. I want you to continue to
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: play it. But yeah, I love that song. Is that
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: that's your favorite one?
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: Uh No, I mean it's a good one. I'd say, Oh, Man,
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: smooth Criminal, I really like. Yeah, Dirty Diana, I really like.
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good one. Yeah, thirty Diana. My two favorites,
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: are they really? Okay?
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: All right, then, what do you think about justin coming
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: back to take over for you when you take off?
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: What tomorrow? When's your last day? Tomorrow?
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: Friday, tomorrow, tonally tomorrow, totally. My last day is Friday,
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: but we don't have shows on Friday tomorrow.
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: It's tomorrow, okay, and I'm out tomorrow. So but I mean,
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: I'm I'm genuinely excited about that. Yeah, I hope you
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: are too.
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: I was, you know, like I said, I'm upset to leave,
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: and yeah, I was interested to see who was going
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: to fill my spot. So I'm glad it's somebody that's,
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: you know, been here before and somebody that I got
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: to know and somebody who trained me in what I
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: was doing, and I wouldn't be able to do the
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: things that I do now without Justin.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: So I'm glad he gets to do it again exactly.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: UK announced yesterday and UK Athletics has a multi year
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: partnership with an app called Hoot.
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: Have you ever heard of Hoot? I don't think so.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: I don't either.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: I' never heard of WoT until yesterday. It's a real
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: world social platform built on human presence and designed to
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: transform how fans experience game day together. It's a three
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: year deal, developed of course by JMI.
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: I don't know what this is going to be like.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: It's an app called Hoot. Hoot is in tom a
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: location based, presence centric social platform designed to connect you
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: with real time happenings, events, and people in your immediate
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: physical vicinity. In other words, you cannot use this app
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: and remark on it, post videos, or any that kind
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: of stuff unless you are physically at the game. So
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: if you're there, you get to communicate with other people
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: and do all kinds of stuff. If you're not there,
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: you're not a part of who. I don't know.
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: I feel like that's I feel like, you know, not
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: trying to dog on anybody's ideas. Yeah, I feel like
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: this is the worst thing for sports I've ever heard of.
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: I feel like it's counterproductive. Why would you want people
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: on their phones during the sporting game.
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: Exactly, That's what I think. It's like, I don't I
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: want to watch the game. I don't want to sit
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: here and be on my phone commenting about stuff or
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: I guess yea, the idea is is cool. I guess
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: you know you're connecting with people who are watching the
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: same thing you are, but you should be watching the game,
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: right I'm going to the game to literally witness the
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: game happening in front of me, not be on my
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: phone and commonly on some app I don't know. I
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: saw this and I thought, Okay, this is unusual. I
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: don't see how this is going to work. But I've
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: been wrong before. I mean, I'm not of a generation
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: that grew up constantly on your phone, even though I'm
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: pretty much constantly on my phone at this point and
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: I'm constantly on social media.
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: CEO here in this quote just lies how so, he
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: says we did not build whot to be another social app.
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: Those already exist, said Drew Gordon, co founder and CEO
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: at WHOT. We built it to be the first real
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: world social platform where human presence is verified, moments are real.
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: What happens online finally imagines what happening in the real world.
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: Yik yak exists. That's already a thing. I've never heard
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: of that one after school exit. Oh, yak yak is
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: like really popular in college right now?
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: Really.
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: Yik yak is an anonymous social net social networking platform.
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: Yik yak. What it is. It's a It's a message board.
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: You can spell it why I k y ak and
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: it's cover its logo say literally, yak.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: I am missing out here? Okay, go ahead.
- 1:17:44Speaker 4: It's an anonymous social networking platform slash like a it's
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: more like a forum. You can make posts and stuff,
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: but nobody knows who they're from, and you have to
- 1:17:53Speaker 4: be within the vicinity of Oh, here we go again.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: So this is becoming popular as far as you're only
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: allowed to use these apps in a certain area.
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: Yes, So, like colleges uses a lot because you interact
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: with only people at like UK and U of L
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: are on campus and you just make posts about what
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: you're around and they're just post the more funny.
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: That's the exact thing this is, except this is for sports.
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: But I feel left out though. I mean, if I'm
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: not at UK as a student or if I'm not
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: at the game, it's like, well, I'd like to see
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: what's happening there. I'd like to be a part of that,
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: and they're not gonna let you do that.
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: I don't know. It just sounds very so it's not.
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: It's not in the arenas. It's just Lexington, like the
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: city of Lexington is where you can use it, where
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: you can use yak yak, No, you can use whot
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: is what I'm looking at.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: Oh so I have to so UK fans around the
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: world can only I thought you could use it only
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: if you're at the game. It's a transform how fans
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: experience game day together.
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: Ahead of the tour twenty seven academic year. Who will
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: activate the in quotations Big Blue Nation canopy, which is
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: the areas of which you have to be in to
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: access that stuff?
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: Right? Well, to me, that's the parking lot and it
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: says this area surrounding the.
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: City and this is only on game days, it says
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: on game days, creating a live digital layer spanning UK
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: Athletics venues, tailgates and campus in addition to downtown Lexington.
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: Oh, in addition to downtown Lexington. Okay, so you can
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: be in the vicinity of Rapperina because they're also going
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: to have that big entertainment district out there. So I
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: assume Commonwealth Stadium and the entertainment district will be able
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: to be a part of that, and then if you're
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: downtown Lexington, you'll be able to be a part of
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: it at Rapparina.
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: It's just I don't know. This just sounds dumb.
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: It just sounds like, am I is this an old man?
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: Take No, it's a stupid It just sounds like Twitter.
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: But you have to be in a certain area to
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: use it. Wow because it says why though, and they've
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: changed the names for things to make it sound unique.
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: It says share your I feel like I'm just dumping
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: on this company right now. It's just share your experiences
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: with echos, in quotations, post echoes within the app, story
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: style updates that let fans share real time photos, videos, posts,
- 1:20:12Speaker 4: and on the ground moments. Every social media app does that.
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: You can post stories anywhere. Now Connect instantly with hoot me.
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: Hoot Me enables fans within a canopy to message when
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: oh my gosh, you can message people on this app?
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I just dumb. It's literally it's literally just Twitter,
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: but you could only use it within this area, all right.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: So in other words, they're not going to improve Wi
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: Fi or any kind of sure are you even going
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: to be able to get on see exactly? So? Are
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: you going to be able to use Wi Fi there
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: because so many people will be on Hoot or is
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: it going to be to a point where you can
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: only get on Hoot and you can't get on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram,
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: TikTok or anything else. So they're making it to just
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: one site you can use on social media.
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: I don't know. I just I didn't like this. It
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: sounds kind of hokey to me.
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: Look, when you're jumping into these spaces that have mega
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: corporations in them, you know, like Meta X and like
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: all these things and face all this stuff. Yeah, you
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: have to have something that's genuinely unique that brings people
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: like why would I use this over that?
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: Yeah? And this just I'm reading this quot right here.
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: It says as someone who grew up in Kentucky and
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: also had the privilege of being a student athlete at UK.
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: This partnership is incredibly personal for me, said Ferguson Gordon.
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: Big Blue Nation is one of the most passionate communities
- 1:21:34Speaker 4: in sports. All blah blah blah talking about Big Nations.
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: Great.
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: This feels like this was an idea this person had
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: and they use their connections at UK to start it up.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: Oh okay, so it's an inside job in other words,
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: like I like, I get that, You're like, I just don't.
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: My thing is when I'm looking at these is what
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: would bring me to this over just using Twitter, you
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: know what I mean? Like, what am I?
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: I want to talk to all of Big Blue Nation
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: when I'm out there wanting to post something, not just
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: the people that are at a game or in a
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: certain vicinity.
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: I want to be talking to everybody. This just doesn't
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: it to just communicate with the people that are around you.
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: You're at the game, Yeah, just talk to them. It's like, okay,
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: I'm going to text the person next to me on hoot.
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: I just somebody's got to explain this more to me.
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: As far as why is this a good thing. I mean,
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: I'm just not catching on.
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: Evidently, maybe it goes live and it becomes like something
- 1:22:31Speaker 4: super niche like like yakiyak, like it only works in
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: college campuses and stuff. But it's the point where like
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: it's just an app that does the same thing that
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: every other social media platform does, but this one you're
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: constricted in it, like you have to be in this.
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: I don't know, I see, I understand, I just don't
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: see the appeal though. I don't. That's why I don't
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: get it either. I'm not I'm not honest saying.
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: We're missing something. But okay, all right, then we gotta
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: take our last break. When we come back, I do
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: want to talk about Man the Nationals and Red Sox
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: went at it last night. Of course, that always makes
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: me smile as far as what happened. Plus there is
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: a college football team that's now doing this on their jerseys.
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: We'll talk about that as well. Stay right there. One
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: more segment of Just the Cat's coming up on this Wednesday.
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: Were our last segment on this Wednesday before I take
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: off tomorrow and Friday, but be back Monday. So I
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: hope everybody will have a nice long fourth of July weekend. Uh,
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: we never did get your prediction though. As far as
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: the game tonight between Team USA and Bosnia, what what?
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: What do you think?
- 1:24:15Speaker 5: Uh?
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: Is gonna happen? As far as the game.
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: I think that they're gonna try, like I said, and
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: slow this down as much as possible. They're gonna try
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: and play heavily defensive. Because of how much pressure of
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: the US the United States brings and how fast paced
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: they play, They're gonna try and slow them down a lot.
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: My official prediction, I actually agree with Justin on this.
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: I think that it would be around three to one.
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: I think that the United States is gonna be able
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: to get an early goal, kind of ride momentum throughout
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: this game and take control.
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: That's if they play their game.
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: I think if we're talking straight knockout stage, I could
- 1:24:46Speaker 4: see this going one to one and then two to
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: one late if United States plays pretty poorly. But I
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: think that they'll play really well. I think it'll I
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: agree with Justin. Think it'll be that three one. That'll
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: be my fincial prediction. All right, did good? Uh?
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: I know you didn't see it, but the Nationals played
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: Washington nasall played the Boston Red Sox last night. Have
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: you seen the replay of it?
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: No?
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: Okay, it turned really interesting in the fourth inning because
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: you had Kate Cavelly on the mound for the Nationals
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: and then you had First Basement for the Red Sox.
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: Wilson Contre's as the batter. Well Cavelly for the Nationals
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: through a really nice breaking ball for strike three, and.
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: You could.
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: Hear Cavelli yelling, sit down, boy. Contrera's responded, you talking
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: to me, and then the Red Sox First Basement approached
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: the mound after which made both benches clear, and then
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: all of a sudden, Contreras is seen throwing his helmet
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: at the Nationals pitcher.
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: Kate Cavelly.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: Multiple ejections, and the sad part about it, this is
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: Contrera's second ejection in two games in a row. Now,
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: after the game, Contrera said, listen, I've kind of let
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: my psyche get the best of me. He's originally from Venezuela,
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: and he said that the earthquakes, the really tragic earthquakes
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: that's happened down in Venezuela over the last week, have
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: really affected him and that's why he reacted the way
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: he did. Because last Friday, he hit a home run
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: and people saw him crying in the dugout.
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: He yelled.
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: When he was going across the bases, he yelled Venezuela.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: And then when he got to the dug out of
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: the people saw him crying. And so evidently it has
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: really affected him. And but let me ask you this,
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: cade Cavelli the picture for the Washington Nationals. Should he
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: be yelling sit down, boy? I mean, that's really derogatory.
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: I don't. I mean, I'm somebody that is all for
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: trash talk.
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: Are you really okay? I think it's a part of sports.
- 1:27:10Speaker 4: But I guess it depends on the connotation calling somebody
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: boy is a little crazy.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that part doesn't bother me. I mean, I know
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: some people are say, oh, they try to make it
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: a really derogatory thing. But no, no, I don't think
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: he meant it that way. I don't think so either.
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: I think he was just yelling at him whatever. I've
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: had worse things in my life. I think everybody else has.
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: Yes, I don't know.
- 1:27:35Speaker 4: I mean, it's just trash talk. It's in a sport.
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: We're grown man like.
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: Move on.
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, I mean it should have just ended, right, there.
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: I mean, I never like trash talk and I wish
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: it hadn't happened. But anyway, Wisconsin Badgers football team will
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: have a jersey patch this coming year. The sponsorship is
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: going to be Culvers. Oh fantastic? Is it really why
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: I love Culvers?
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: Do you when?
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: Is it about Culvers that you like?
- 1:28:04Speaker 5: So?
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: I think it's the quality, like it is my favorite
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: fast food chain. Is it it is? Wow? There is.
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: I have genuinely never gone to Culver's and gotten something
- 1:28:13Speaker 4: that I didn't like. I think it's I think their
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: burgers are the best. I think their chicken sandwich are
- 1:28:18Speaker 4: the best.
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: I think they're they call it. They don't call it
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: ice cream. They call it custody. They have a custard there.
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: I'll yeah, custard. I love It's really good. Every time
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: I go there. That it's a bad thing. I have
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: to get custard and I get it the hot fudge
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: and the nuts on it. Whoop cream. That's the way
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: I like it. And uh, but no, their hamburgers are good.
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: I think their fried fish is really good. Never had
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: the chicken though.
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: When I was talking to Van Hiles when you were gone,
- 1:28:44Speaker 4: Oh actually, uh, you know I told them that I
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: was going to Tampa and everything, and he told me
- 1:28:49Speaker 4: to go to this place that's actually also in Chicago
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: called Portillo's.
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: Oh bravo. Portillo's is unbelievably awesome.
- 1:28:59Speaker 4: I had heard of it. Yeah, I've obviously never been there. Yes,
- 1:29:02Speaker 4: but he was talking glowingly of this place. Oh Van
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: Hous nailed it. So I'm like, I immediately take a
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: Pouli and I was like, we have to go to Portillo's.
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: Apparently, I don't know if there's one in Tampa. I
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: know there's one in Saint Pete. That maybe what he's
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: talking about. Yeah, I think it's in Saint Pete. It's
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: right there off of sixty six. It is literally ten
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: minutes from my house. Yes, I'm excited to try it. Yeah,
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: and they have the real Chicago dogs. That's when I
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: was really disappointed. There is a place in Saint Matthew's
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: called Lonnie's. Oh Lonnie Chicago Dog. Yeah, iland morning exactly.
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: I was so bummed when they shut down because there
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: is something about having a real Chicago hot dog, and
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: that's what Portillo's is. I mean, Portillo's is based in
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: Chicago and they have they have really good ice cream,
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: and they have really good I.
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: Don't like chocolate, but I love their chocolate cake. It's amazing.
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: So yeah, you'll you'll have good at Portillo's. I'm excited
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: to try it. Yeah. I'm a big hot dog guy.
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: Yeah are you really? I am too?
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: And I love sausage. I'm a big sausage guy. They
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: have sausage with cooked onions on top with mustard. Man,
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: you just don't want to be around me. About an
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: hour later, okay, uh so, yeah, Wisconsin is doing this.
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: Is this the start of college football going to become
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: the next NASCAR Jersey?
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: I don't think it'll get that far. I mean these
- 1:30:27Speaker 4: schools are just looking for any way to make more money. Yeah,
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: put in their nil. So I don't blame them for it.
- 1:30:32Speaker 4: I mean it's just the way capitalism works. We just
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: put advertisements on anything that has you know, white space
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: on it.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, I read this article the other day
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: which I never knew this.
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: You've heard. You know who George Fromer is, right, goey
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: who makes the grills?
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: Right, that's hilarious that you say that. So he was
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: a boxer, Yeah, I know he used to. Okay, Okay, well,
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: the first thing when I was like growing up, like
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: I always knew him as that. One of my all
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: time favorite Office episodes was when Michael Scott had the
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: George Foreman grill next to his bed because he liked
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: the smell of bacon in the morning, and he stepped
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: on the George Foreman grill and then proceeds to wrap
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: his foot in the bubble wrap, which I thought was hilarious.
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: But did you know George Foreman.
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: He made at the height of the George Foreman grill.
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: They said he was making anywhere from four and a
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: half to eight million dollars a month. I mean that
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: blew my mind away. Over time, he made over two
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: hundred million dollars from just the George Foreman grill. I
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: thought that was incredible.
- 1:31:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I knew about it, and I was
- 1:31:46Speaker 4: a little kid, so it was popular.
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:31:49Speaker 4: They had George Foreman on Nickelodeon episodes, Well did they really?
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: Yes, he was on Trunk and Josh one time.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: Oh wow, I didn't know that. All right, let me
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: get to a couple of texts before you go. One
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: person said, sucks Doormat is leaving. He has really grown
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: into a radio personality over the last few months.
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:32:05Speaker 4: That means a lot and that nice. Hoping I get
- 1:32:07Speaker 4: to continue that song, yeah, Matthew said, Culver's is good.
- 1:32:11Speaker 4: I haven't been there much. Also, thank you for everything
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: you have done for the station. Matthew, no idea if
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: this is your last day or not. So No, tomorrow
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: is last day with me on my show. Yeah, tomorrow
- 1:32:21Speaker 4: will be doing I'll be on like all the remote
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: shows from like twelve to five thirty tomorrow you will
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: will still be on those.
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: But this has been a last show on this Yeah, yeah,
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: but I.
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: Am looking forward to this. It released last week. Larry
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: David has a new show. Have you seen the advertisement
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: for this. It's called Life Larry in the Pursuit of Unhappiness.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: There are seven episodes of it, and it's about the
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: history he's taking. It's kind of his taste on what
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: what has happened in history of the United States, his
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: flair for the two hundred and fiftieth birthday of the
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: United States.
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: I can't wait for it. Are you not a cribby
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: enthusiasm kind of a guy? It's okay, whoa, I'm my
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: favorite show? Oh boy?
- 1:33:02Speaker 4: Okay, there is a there's a Twitter account that's gotten
- 1:33:04Speaker 4: really popular yes of this week. Yeah, and what they
- 1:33:07Speaker 4: do is they it's kind of a joke, but they're
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: tweeting every day up until July fourth, as if the
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: things that happened this week in seventeen seventy six are
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: happening right now. Yeah, as like a promotionally, okay, that's
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: kind of cool, as like a promotional stunt for July fourth.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: So like, yeah, on July fourth, they're gonna say they
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: signed like they're tweeting as if it's live, and it's
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: just it's super funny.
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: That's pretty I kind of like that. What's it called?
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: What's the account?
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: I can't remember.
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: I saw it the other day. We'll text me later
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: I try and find it. Yeah, I would like to
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: watch that. So all right, man, well you got big
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: planes for the weekend. You're moving yep. When you're leaving.
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: Sunday morning probably like Saturday early day morning. Oh my,
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: and you're gonna drive down two cars. Uh yeah, we're
