Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: Hello, Welcome to another episode of The Intel with Greg Cossel.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Here on the inside the Birds Platform, I'm Jeff Mosher
- 0:13Speaker 1: with Adam Kaplan, and of course we have Greg Cosell
- 0:16Speaker 1: as he continues to break down NFL draft prospects for
- 0:20Speaker 1: the twenty twenty six NFL Draft. We do it by position,
- 0:23Speaker 1: and it is time to talk about interior defensive lineman,
- 0:27Speaker 1: the big guys up front in the trenches. Greg, And
- 0:30Speaker 1: this is a weird year because although I don't go
- 0:33Speaker 1: around just like you're looking at everybody's mock drafts and
- 0:35Speaker 1: things that there are a couple of guys that I'll
- 0:38Speaker 1: talk with and look at. But every year, almost every year,
- 0:42Speaker 1: there's usually a big stud defensive tackle like a Jalen
- 0:45Speaker 1: Carter right or someone who's gonna go in the top three,
- 0:48Speaker 1: top five, top ten. And I'll ask you, I'll throw
- 0:51Speaker 1: it to you right off the bat. Does it seem
- 0:53Speaker 1: is there a guy that really jumps out at you
- 0:55Speaker 1: like that kind of prospect this year?
- 0:57Speaker 2: Well, I think there's one guy that has that close
- 1:00Speaker 2: to that kind of ability. He won't be drafted in
- 1:03Speaker 2: the top ten. We'll get to him in a sec
- 1:05Speaker 2: I think just from a thirty thousand foot view. Though.
- 1:08Speaker 2: What is interesting about this class and probably not so
- 1:11Speaker 2: great for teams, is this is not really a class
- 1:14Speaker 2: where the better interior guys are pass rushers. They're run defenders. Now, no, hey,
- 1:20Speaker 2: you need run defenders, we know that. But you know,
- 1:22Speaker 2: there's not that interior guy that you go, wow, that
- 1:25Speaker 2: guy is a really really good pass rusher. So it's
- 1:29Speaker 2: really a class of more run defenders than anything else.
- 1:34Speaker 2: You know, Like I said, there's one guy who, possibly
- 1:38Speaker 2: in my view, based on tape and trades without knowing
- 1:43Speaker 2: the person, you know, and all those things that go
- 1:45Speaker 2: into it, but could develop into that kind of all
- 1:51Speaker 2: around player.
- 1:53Speaker 1: All right, we'll talk about that, Adam. This, I mean,
- 1:55Speaker 1: I know you and I I mean last year we
- 1:57Speaker 1: were talking about Walter Nolan, how explosive he was. He
- 2:00Speaker 1: you know, I think he got off he was injured,
- 2:02Speaker 1: but then when he got on the field for Arizona,
- 2:04Speaker 1: he really looked like a pretty good player. And you know,
- 2:07Speaker 1: just usually around this time of the year, we're flunning
- 2:09Speaker 1: over some really big, three hundred and twenty five pound
- 2:11Speaker 1: interior three way kind of you know, every down tackle.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Well, it's interesting this group is actually pretty deep, but
- 2:18Speaker 3: I didn't quite know what Greg said that. You're just
- 2:21Speaker 3: it's hard to find a guy who does everything. You
- 2:23Speaker 3: know obviously what a guy who gets up field, I think.
- 2:27Speaker 3: And also the thing that we've learned over the years
- 2:29Speaker 3: is with good coaching, got like I knew a coach.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Although it didn't work out. Mazzie Smith, you know, hasn't
- 2:36Speaker 3: worked out at all. Yeah, he loved his college team.
- 2:39Speaker 3: I think we all knew there were there were some motivations.
- 2:42Speaker 3: There was stuff with him like he had him reach
- 2:44Speaker 3: him yep, but he said he goes if you could
- 2:47Speaker 3: give me him for two years, I could take to
- 2:49Speaker 3: the next level. Unfortunately, doesn't look like it's going to
- 2:51Speaker 3: work out. He's now with another team.
- 2:53Speaker 2: But coaches like.
- 2:53Speaker 3: That when you get a project, when you get a guy,
- 2:56Speaker 3: you see that the upside, but the guy needs a
- 2:58Speaker 3: lot of work.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Well it's like a ball of clay. You want that.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Maybe there's one of those guys to move this away.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Well, you know, it's funny because I really liked Mazie
- 3:04Speaker 2: Smith too, and I know I remember, but you don't
- 3:07Speaker 2: go over again, none of us. You know, I didn't
- 3:09Speaker 2: know the person, but boy, his traits were really good,
- 3:13Speaker 2: and his tape was pretty darn good at Michigan. And
- 3:16Speaker 2: what's he with his third or fourth team? Now?
- 3:19Speaker 4: Uh, Dallas and the Jets?
- 3:21Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, yeah, all.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Right, Greg. So usually we lobby, you know, guys to you.
- 3:27Speaker 1: We lob guys over to you and you break them down.
- 3:29Speaker 1: But you had someone in mind that you felt was
- 3:32Speaker 1: yeah class, So why don't you go ahead and tell
- 3:34Speaker 1: us who it is?
- 3:35Speaker 2: Yeah? I think the player who I think sort of
- 3:37Speaker 2: potentially fits that category is is Peter Woods from Clemson.
- 3:44Speaker 2: He's he's a guy that's really really gifted. Now if
- 3:49Speaker 2: coming off his twenty twenty fourth season, because I watched
- 3:52Speaker 2: him last summer and I came away really liking what
- 3:55Speaker 2: I saw. And obviously he did not have the exact
- 3:58Speaker 2: same year, nor did Clemson as a team have the
- 4:01Speaker 2: exact same year. But you're dealing with a guy that
- 4:05Speaker 2: is explosive. He's versatile in terms of where he can
- 4:08Speaker 2: line up inside. He's got initial quickness, he's got secondary quickness,
- 4:12Speaker 2: he's got strength, he's got power, he's got all the
- 4:15Speaker 2: traits that you look for in an interior defensive lineman.
- 4:21Speaker 2: It's funny because there were times that they even lined
- 4:23Speaker 2: him up more so last year in twenty twenty four
- 4:26Speaker 2: than this year at WHY nine to rush the quarterback,
- 4:29Speaker 2: and he did okay. In fact last year when I
- 4:32Speaker 2: watched him last summer and I thought he was a
- 4:35Speaker 2: really strong prospect, I thought that two players came to
- 4:41Speaker 2: my mind. Okay, and these were players when I think
- 4:44Speaker 2: about them that came to my mind based on their
- 4:46Speaker 2: college tape. That's, you know, normally the way I do it,
- 4:49Speaker 2: as you guys know, I thought he reminded me both
- 4:51Speaker 2: of Kenny Clark and Fletcher Cox. Wow, Fletcher Cox, for
- 4:57Speaker 2: people may not know because it was a long time ago,
- 5:00Speaker 2: but when Fletcher Cox was at Mississippi State, there were
- 5:03Speaker 2: many snaps he lined up as a defensive end. And
- 5:07Speaker 2: Peter Woods did that in twenty twenty four, and I
- 5:10Speaker 2: really thought that Woods was a guy that had those
- 5:15Speaker 2: kinds of traits. Now I think he ideally projects and
- 5:19Speaker 2: transitions best as a three technique and a four man
- 5:22Speaker 2: base D line front because he has first step explosiveness,
- 5:27Speaker 2: he's got secondary quickness and flexibility. He's a gap penetrator,
- 5:31Speaker 2: he's a block deconstructor. I mean, I really like him.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I think that there's a lot there with this kid.
- 5:38Speaker 2: To me, he'd be the best prospect. And again I
- 5:41Speaker 2: think that's the key in the operative word here. He's
- 5:44Speaker 2: a prospect right.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Now, Adam, Where does the thirty one and one quarter
- 5:49Speaker 1: inch arms fall on the defensive tackle?
- 5:52Speaker 4: A good question. You like them to be longer.
- 5:56Speaker 3: He's actually technically of course, when he gets waved he
- 5:58Speaker 3: was under three hundred the combine. I think, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 3: So the arm length is going to be a concern
- 6:05Speaker 3: that it is. You we know, sometimes defensive tackles have
- 6:09Speaker 3: shorter arms, sometimes so longer. Fletcher Cox, by the way,
- 6:12Speaker 3: had great length. And it's funny because Greg brings him up.
- 6:16Speaker 3: I just remember because Jim Washburn was he was super
- 6:20Speaker 3: high on him. He was the Eagles d line coach
- 6:22Speaker 3: at the time. He couldn't keep his mouth shut. He
- 6:24Speaker 3: was so excited to get Fletcher Cox. And those guys
- 6:28Speaker 3: are rare though that have size ability. With him, it
- 6:31Speaker 3: was just the motivation. Would he apply it all the time?
- 6:33Speaker 3: And he's he's like what we call a rungblow hall
- 6:36Speaker 3: of fame. He probably won't not be all famer, but
- 6:38Speaker 3: he's he gos hall of fame for sure.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Sure, But this guy.
- 6:42Speaker 3: It's it's arm length that's going to be part of it.
- 6:44Speaker 3: But I like what Greg said to move this forward.
- 6:47Speaker 3: He's got the most complete package of all of them.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Now coaching matters. I'll be very interested to follow where
- 6:53Speaker 3: he goes.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Yep. Uh.
- 6:55Speaker 1: She's also six two, by the way, six two and
- 6:57Speaker 1: a half.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Which is now. I mean, he's more stout than than long.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Obviously that's the difference between him and Fletcher, but in
- 7:04Speaker 2: terms of how he was aligned, kind of the way
- 7:07Speaker 2: in which he played, and that could Adam could well
- 7:09Speaker 2: be right, by the way, because teams factor all that
- 7:12Speaker 2: stuff in. I mean, you know, I love when people
- 7:14Speaker 2: say things like, well if he was an inch taller,
- 7:16Speaker 2: Well he's not, so you know, it's not really relevant,
- 7:20Speaker 2: you know, and that's going to factor into, you know,
- 7:23Speaker 2: some team's worldview. I mean, I know. Shoot, I remember
- 7:26Speaker 2: talking to a really good defensive line coach will remain
- 7:30Speaker 2: nameless about when Aaron Donald came out and he really
- 7:34Speaker 2: struggled with his size and he said, I don't think
- 7:36Speaker 2: I could draft him, and you know, look obviously, and
- 7:40Speaker 2: then I spoke to him a number of years later
- 7:41Speaker 2: and he said to me, well, you were right, and
- 7:42Speaker 2: I was wrong, you know, but you know, these are
- 7:46Speaker 2: things that all teams weigh and discuss, and you know,
- 7:49Speaker 2: sometimes you get it wrong, you know. And as Adam said,
- 7:53Speaker 2: every team has, you know, certain and I know he
- 7:56Speaker 2: said this numerous times. You know, certain critical factors, certain positions.
- 8:00Speaker 2: There might be a team that says, hey, he's under
- 8:03Speaker 2: three hundred pounds, or he's under sixty three or you know,
- 8:05Speaker 2: and or his arm length is under thirty two, and
- 8:08Speaker 2: you know, therefore we're not you know, that could be
- 8:11Speaker 2: the case.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Yep, yep, Hey, Greg, you know if Peter Woods ran
- 8:14Speaker 1: a four to six forty at that you know size,
- 8:16Speaker 1: I mean, he would definitely been a top ten.
- 8:18Speaker 2: There you go, there you go.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Let's go to Ohio State. They seemingly put in a
- 8:24Speaker 1: defensive lineman in the NFL. Seemingly every year in the
- 8:27Speaker 1: first or second round they have Eden McDonald.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yeah, this guy is He was a very fun watch
- 8:35Speaker 2: because you talk about a guy that can play the run,
- 8:37Speaker 2: I mean this guy, I mean, there's no mystery to
- 8:40Speaker 2: this guy whatsoever, to his tape, what he showed on film,
- 8:45Speaker 2: and that transitions well to the next level. He is
- 8:48Speaker 2: an outstanding run defender with a great traits profile. He's
- 8:52Speaker 2: got quickness off the ball, he's got short stroke, knock
- 8:56Speaker 2: back power, he can control and displace interior o Ligneman
- 9:00Speaker 2: just really strong hands and a powerful grip. The thing
- 9:04Speaker 2: that really stood out about him, and it's very rare guys,
- 9:07Speaker 2: and this is what makes him a truly intriguing prospect,
- 9:11Speaker 2: is he made a lot of tackles as a defensive tackle.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Rarely that is the case. Very often. You can watch
- 9:18Speaker 2: guys and you feel great about their trades, and they
- 9:21Speaker 2: can control and displace guys. They do all those good things,
- 9:24Speaker 2: but they don't make tackles, you know, which is why
- 9:27Speaker 2: I've always said to people, you can look at a
- 9:28Speaker 2: statu sheet and see a detackle, have one tackle in
- 9:31Speaker 2: the game, you put the tape on. He dominated the game.
- 9:33Speaker 2: This guy made over sixty five tackles. That is incredibly
- 9:38Speaker 2: rare for a defensive tackle. And he's to me a
- 9:44Speaker 2: truly fascinating prospect. I mean, if you want to run defender.
- 9:48Speaker 2: And again, let's keep one thing in mind. It doesn't
- 9:52Speaker 2: mean that he'll never be a good pass rusher, and
- 9:54Speaker 2: I think that's an important point. He is not now,
- 9:57Speaker 2: But it doesn't mean you know that he'll never be
- 10:00Speaker 2: You just don't know the answer to those questions. I
- 10:02Speaker 2: mean you really don't. But you know right now he
- 10:05Speaker 2: is not a pass rusher, But man, is is he
- 10:07Speaker 2: a great run defender? And and I mean it's he
- 10:12Speaker 2: was just dominant. I mean, you're dealing with a guy
- 10:14Speaker 2: he's you know, he's got good size. What is he six? Uh,
- 10:19Speaker 2: he's not long. He's six two in an eight three
- 10:21Speaker 2: twenty six arm only thirty two and a quarter is fine,
- 10:25Speaker 2: you know, but he's just a dominant, dominant run defender.
- 10:29Speaker 1: You know, you guys think about guys like Broderick Bunkley
- 10:32Speaker 1: or even Tim Jernigan. You know, they played years in
- 10:35Speaker 1: the NFL and they would come off on pass rushdowns
- 10:38Speaker 1: because they didn't develop into the their team wanted them to.
- 10:41Speaker 1: But they still played years. And I think Jernigan probably
- 10:44Speaker 1: could have played a little longer if not for some
- 10:46Speaker 1: strange off field incident that led him, you know, with
- 10:49Speaker 1: the Eagles, to getting his contract restructured. But the point
- 10:53Speaker 1: is they you know, one of them is a super
- 10:56Speaker 1: the journey was a world champion. They played an important
- 10:58Speaker 1: role on that team.
- 11:00Speaker 3: You know what's funny, Jeff that you bring this up,
- 11:01Speaker 3: because how many times did we have this talk about
- 11:03Speaker 3: Jordan Davis. He'd better start playing more snaps where it's
- 11:07Speaker 3: not gonna work. It took him four years.
- 11:09Speaker 4: You never know.
- 11:10Speaker 3: You just don't know because you only go by what
- 11:12Speaker 3: the tape tells you. But yeah, let's get to the
- 11:14Speaker 3: next guy. The next guy's got elite length, but he's
- 11:17Speaker 3: come back from a broken foot, Greg that's Caleb Banks
- 11:19Speaker 3: from Florida, six six and a quarter three days.
- 11:22Speaker 2: You know what, this guy, it's such a shame with
- 11:25Speaker 2: this guy because let me tell you something. I watched
- 11:27Speaker 2: this guy last year, okay, and I thought this guy
- 11:31Speaker 2: was a first round draft pick all day long because
- 11:33Speaker 2: I watched him last summer and where he played almost
- 11:35Speaker 2: all the games, if not all the games. And I mean,
- 11:39Speaker 2: when you talk about a guy that has everything you
- 11:41Speaker 2: want in a defensive tackle like he could arguably be
- 11:45Speaker 2: you know, I mentioned Peter Woods, I probably should should,
- 11:48Speaker 2: you know, retract that a little and say Caleb Banks
- 11:53Speaker 2: because you're dealing with a guy you talk about a laye.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I mean, this guy's silly. He's six six and a quarter,
- 11:58Speaker 2: three twenty seven arm lane thirty five inches wingspan eighty
- 12:03Speaker 2: five and three quarters. Think about that. Now. I thought
- 12:07Speaker 2: that his twenty twenty four tape was ridiculously good. I mean,
- 12:13Speaker 2: you know, he only played three games this year, but
- 12:15Speaker 2: he flashed a lot of the same traits. You know,
- 12:17Speaker 2: he's country strong, he's got that confined space power, he's
- 12:21Speaker 2: got really heavy hands, he's got a powerful club move.
- 12:27Speaker 2: You know. I think that when you talk about the
- 12:30Speaker 2: quickness and the power element to his game. And obviously
- 12:33Speaker 2: would need some refinement as a pass rusher, but he's
- 12:37Speaker 2: key if he can be healthy. And again, now now
- 12:40Speaker 2: you get into the person, not that he's hurt, because
- 12:44Speaker 2: he's a good or bad person, but I mean you
- 12:46Speaker 2: get into you know, the commitment and all that. But
- 12:48Speaker 2: this guy at that size and with those traits, those
- 12:52Speaker 2: physical and athletic traits, I mean, he could be he
- 12:55Speaker 2: could be the special D tackle in this draft class.
- 13:00Speaker 1: To get into that same situation, it reminds me of
- 13:02Speaker 1: the Josh Simmons discussion last year, the left tackle for
- 13:05Speaker 1: Ohio State. Yeah, all the year's tape from the year
- 13:08Speaker 1: before was really good. He was supposed to be the guy,
- 13:10Speaker 1: and then I think the Chiefs got him really late
- 13:12Speaker 1: in the first round last year. If i'm if I'm
- 13:14Speaker 1: very very in yep, I think they flip flop with
- 13:18Speaker 1: the Eagles, if I'm not misstare or something like that,
- 13:19Speaker 1: right in the last year's draft, because didn't the Eagles
- 13:23Speaker 1: trade up one just to get you hot Campbell? I
- 13:25Speaker 1: think that was the situation, didn't trade off.
- 13:27Speaker 4: But yeah, I forget it.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I think with the Chiefs, and then the Chiefs
- 13:30Speaker 1: took took Josh Simmons. But yeah, the injury here clearly
- 13:36Speaker 1: factors into the evaluation.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Unfortunate.
- 13:38Speaker 3: It's the second time he's broken his left foot, so
- 13:40Speaker 3: that's something that's gonna be looked at really hard. But
- 13:44Speaker 3: Greg's review is pretty interesting.
- 13:47Speaker 2: The injuries. You know, obviously this year was kind of
- 13:49Speaker 2: a lost year. I only played three games, and then
- 13:51Speaker 2: he breaks the foot again, and then from what I read,
- 13:54Speaker 2: he won't be even ready till June or July, you know,
- 13:57Speaker 2: And so it's he's going to be a call for
- 14:00Speaker 2: teams because someone is going to look at him and think, man,
- 14:04Speaker 2: if this guy's healthy, you could be dealing with just
- 14:07Speaker 2: traits wise, you could be dealing with a top five
- 14:09Speaker 2: d tackle in the league. Down the road, I mean,
- 14:11Speaker 2: this guy has those kinds of traits.
- 14:14Speaker 1: All right, let's head over to Texas Tech and get
- 14:17Speaker 1: your breakdown. Greg of Lee Spy Hunter.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Yeah, he's another you know, run defender type. And again
- 14:25Speaker 2: I say that based on what they show. Now, you know,
- 14:29Speaker 2: teams think about what a guy is going to be
- 14:31Speaker 2: two three years down the road, you know, in addition
- 14:33Speaker 2: to what they are right now, you're dealing with the
- 14:36Speaker 2: guy that's six three and a half three eighteen. He's
- 14:38Speaker 2: got you know, good arm length and the whole deal.
- 14:42Speaker 2: But you know he's he's another guy that's got great size,
- 14:48Speaker 2: he's got confined space strength, he can make plays in
- 14:51Speaker 2: the run game. He's got pretty light feet though. Now
- 14:55Speaker 2: is he is he a pass rusher? No, but he
- 14:59Speaker 2: did show the ability to change direction and redirect in
- 15:02Speaker 2: the run game where he made some chase plays off
- 15:04Speaker 2: his initial get off. So he's got some athletic ability.
- 15:10Speaker 2: You know, there were times he played too upright, and
- 15:12Speaker 2: you know, we know that that's an issue a lot
- 15:14Speaker 2: with these bigger offensive tackle defensive tackles. You know, we
- 15:18Speaker 2: talked about that for years with Jordan Davis. So this
- 15:22Speaker 2: guy definitely showed a tendency at times to play too
- 15:25Speaker 2: high off the ball, and of course we know what
- 15:27Speaker 2: that means. It means it negatively impacts both your natural strength,
- 15:30Speaker 2: your power, your quickness. He doesn't really have any secondary
- 15:35Speaker 2: moves at this point, so he's not really a meaningful
- 15:38Speaker 2: inside pass rusher. He's a run run defensive player. So
- 15:43Speaker 2: you know, where are those guys going to draft? You know,
- 15:46Speaker 2: you have to be true, he's like Cayden. He's not
- 15:48Speaker 2: as good as as Caden McDonald as a prospect. And
- 15:51Speaker 2: then McDonald's is being talked about clearly as a first
- 15:54Speaker 2: round pick. I'd be surprised if Hunter was, but you
- 15:58Speaker 2: never know. But at this point, and he's a run defender.
- 16:03Speaker 3: All right, Let's let's move on to the next guy,
- 16:06Speaker 3: and that would be you want to talk about length
- 16:08Speaker 3: feet it's really interesting and I know, Greg, you see
- 16:10Speaker 3: a lot of these guys as run defenders. But the
- 16:12Speaker 3: length Darryl Jackson Junior, not the receiver, but from Florida State,
- 16:17Speaker 3: six' five and a, half, yeah thirty four and three
- 16:20Speaker 3: quarter inch, Arms, greg and the wingspan you want to
- 16:23Speaker 3: talk about ridiculous eighty, Six, greg what are you?
- 16:26Speaker 2: THINKING i know this guy's a little freakish in terms
- 16:28Speaker 2: of his overall. Size and he's one of those. Guys
- 16:32Speaker 2: and you, know, again these are tough things to. Understand
- 16:35Speaker 2: you always hear people use the word. Inconsistent you, know
- 16:38Speaker 2: that's the. Word this guy's really good plays are ridiculously.
- 16:43Speaker 2: GOOD i mean you watch him do play well and
- 16:47Speaker 2: you feel like this guy could be a, dominant dominant.
- 16:50Speaker 2: PLAYER i mean the, size the, length the strength inside
- 16:54Speaker 2: in the versus the run, game the knock back, power
- 16:58Speaker 2: the powerful handstres on first. CONTACT i, mean you know this.
- 17:04Speaker 2: GUY i mean when he went up against offensive centers
- 17:07Speaker 2: when he was aligned to zero, technique, man did he
- 17:10Speaker 2: have some? Snaps, well you just went, Wow and then
- 17:13Speaker 2: he would extend his arms which are, long to keep
- 17:16Speaker 2: his legs. CLEAN i, mean this guy is a force
- 17:20Speaker 2: in the run. Game but, again another guy that has
- 17:22Speaker 2: very limited pass rush tools at this point in his.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Development can he bull rush every once in a, While,
- 17:29Speaker 2: yeah but there's no real pass rush and there's some
- 17:32Speaker 2: tightness in his hips in his. Core so the question
- 17:35Speaker 2: is is he's just a phone booth. Player you, know
- 17:37Speaker 2: there was not a lot of redirect and lateral movement
- 17:40Speaker 2: to his. Game he's just a, strong strong guy who
- 17:44Speaker 2: at his best just can dominate in that six foot
- 17:47Speaker 2: you know. Box but those plays are ridiculously good for
- 17:53Speaker 2: our younger.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Crowd i'll probably put a picture of a phone booth
- 17:57Speaker 1: in this video version of this, podcast just so people
- 18:00Speaker 1: understand what that is and what it looks. Like it
- 18:04Speaker 1: sounds like a couple of these, Guys. Greg you, know
- 18:06Speaker 1: if you just get him with the right coaches who
- 18:09Speaker 1: and how to, develop you could really get yourself a
- 18:11Speaker 1: nice a nice, player you, know more than a two
- 18:13Speaker 1: down lineman or one down Line.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Yeah and they are gonna be coaches who look at
- 18:16Speaker 2: these guys and, say, hey you know, what over, TIME
- 18:19Speaker 2: i can teach this. GUY i you, know maybe they
- 18:21Speaker 2: are never going to be a, great great interior pass,
- 18:24Speaker 2: rushers BUT i can teach them to rush the quarterback
- 18:26Speaker 2: to the point where down the road they can be
- 18:29Speaker 2: three down.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Players, greg let's go To georgia because they always put
- 18:33Speaker 1: OUT nfl guys in the trenches and The eagles are
- 18:36Speaker 1: always paying attention to. Him, chris it might be Pronounced,
- 18:38Speaker 1: christian it's Spelled Kristin.
- 18:39Speaker 2: MILLER H, YEAH i think It's Kristin. MILLER i like this,
- 18:45Speaker 2: kid He's he was one of my favorites because this
- 18:47Speaker 2: guy has on more juice to him than than the
- 18:49Speaker 2: other players we've been talking. About you, know he. Didn't you,
- 18:53Speaker 2: know as we found out when they Drafted Jalen, carter
- 18:55Speaker 2: a lot of these d linemen At georgia don't necessarily
- 18:58Speaker 2: play a ton of snaps because they have so many
- 19:00Speaker 2: four stars and five. Stars so you, know a lot
- 19:02Speaker 2: of these guys come in the, league they don't play
- 19:04Speaker 2: eight hundred. Snaps you, know that Was Jalen. Carter, remember
- 19:07Speaker 2: he didn't play a ton of, snaps and that was
- 19:09Speaker 2: a concern for some people, that, oh what's going to
- 19:11Speaker 2: happen if he has to play sixty five seventy snaps
- 19:14Speaker 2: in a, game, which of, course for the most, part
- 19:16Speaker 2: when he's, healthy he. Does he's and he's done fine
- 19:19Speaker 2: when he's. Healthy miller's not the same level of prospect
- 19:23Speaker 2: as Obviously Jalen, carter who was a really high level.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Prospect BUT i really like this. Kid he can play
- 19:30Speaker 2: multiple spots along your defensive. Front he's got more, juice
- 19:34Speaker 2: he's got a lateral, quickness he's got some vertical burst to.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Him he can develop into an interior pass. Rusher there's no,
- 19:41Speaker 2: question you, KNOW i think the player he kind of
- 19:46Speaker 2: reminded me of WHEN i watched. Him and, again you guys,
- 19:49Speaker 2: know and probably people listening know. That guys just popp
- 19:52Speaker 2: into my. HEAD i don't sit and think about who
- 19:54Speaker 2: does the guy remind me. Of he reminded me Of
- 19:56Speaker 2: Nomini manabouquet in the really good year he had in
- 19:59Speaker 2: twenty twenty four war with The, ravens where he was,
- 20:01Speaker 2: both you, know a run defender and a pass. Rusher
- 20:05Speaker 2: miller kind of reminded me of. HIM i, think you,
- 20:08Speaker 2: know you, know, Again i'm not one of those guys
- 20:10Speaker 2: that says here's where a guy should get, drafted but
- 20:13Speaker 2: it wouldn't surprise me if all of a sudden he
- 20:15Speaker 2: gets drafted a little higher than a lot of people are. Suggesting. Now,
- 20:19Speaker 2: now of, course teams they may love. Him we don't,
- 20:22Speaker 2: know because teams are not telling you where they're going to,
- 20:24Speaker 2: draft and these are just people who are, guessing you,
- 20:26Speaker 2: know As i'm guessing. Too BUT i think the tape
- 20:29Speaker 2: shows a guy that can do. Both right now that
- 20:33Speaker 2: there's definite three down ability with this. Guy three down Traits.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Greg the next guy is from a.
- 20:40Speaker 3: School we see a bunch of receivers, drafted but let's
- 20:43Speaker 3: look at the defensive side of the. Ball Dominique orange
- 20:45Speaker 3: out Of iowa at that, yeah six two three as
- 20:49Speaker 3: three twenty two thirty three and three eighth arm.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Length what are your? Thoughts another guy who's just a
- 20:55Speaker 2: freakish run. DEFENDER i mean it's and he's actually got
- 20:58Speaker 2: some pretty light. Feet BUT i mean he's a really
- 21:01Speaker 2: good athlete for a big, man and you, know he's got,
- 21:06Speaker 2: light active. Feet he's got outstanding quickness off the. Ball
- 21:10Speaker 2: they play him anywhere from you, know three techniques to zero,
- 21:13Speaker 2: techniques sometimes even lines up outside the. Tackle they use
- 21:17Speaker 2: him that. Way but he's not really that. Guy he's got,
- 21:20Speaker 2: strong heavy. Hands you, KNOW i watched him Against iowa
- 21:23Speaker 2: and they have this offensive center Named Logan, jones WHO
- 21:26Speaker 2: i know is on some people's, lists and he really
- 21:28Speaker 2: had dominant naps in the run game Versus. Jones he controlled,
- 21:32Speaker 2: him he displaced. HIM i, mean this is who he.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Is he's got, strength he's got, power he's got good,
- 21:38Speaker 2: quickness and he made plays with both power and. Quickness
- 21:41Speaker 2: but he's almost no factor at this point as an
- 21:44Speaker 2: inside pass. Rusher now because of the quick. Feet you,
- 21:48Speaker 2: know you look at him and you think maybe down the.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Road you know, again now you get into that same
- 21:52Speaker 2: issue coaching where he, goes but you're dealing with a
- 21:56Speaker 2: guy that's he's he's really a good inside run. DEFENDER
- 22:01Speaker 2: i mean really. Good you saw it?
- 22:03Speaker 1: Again fun watching his tape Against.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Oh, yeah because you know, WHAT i actually watched him
- 22:08Speaker 2: a little bit last, year not as much AS i
- 22:10Speaker 2: wanted last, summer because you, know he was a good
- 22:13Speaker 2: player last, year and THEN i watched him this year
- 22:15Speaker 2: AND i remember, That, yeah this guy is a little
- 22:17Speaker 2: juicier than you normally think for a guy with his
- 22:22Speaker 2: size and his you, know his. Weight but he was
- 22:26Speaker 2: pretty quick off the ball and he had this club
- 22:28Speaker 2: arm over move that was really.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Effective, Hey philly, fans game day is stressful. Enough, parking,

- 23:28Speaker 1: twenty one and. Up we'll finish it up With Oklahoma's Grayson.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Halton, now he's a guy that has. QUICKNESS i, mean you,
- 23:37Speaker 2: know he's one of those guys that actually has some
- 23:39Speaker 2: juice to, him and so it'll be interesting to. See
- 23:44Speaker 2: he's a three. TECHNIQUE i mean he's under three hundred.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Pounds at the. Combine he was six two and five
- 23:49Speaker 2: bays two ninety. Three he ran really really, well you,
- 23:53Speaker 2: know for whatever that, means but he ran really. Well
- 23:57Speaker 2: he's got quickness off the, ball he can attack, gaps
- 23:59Speaker 2: he can fet half a. Man he showed that quick
- 24:02Speaker 2: strike punch to jar interior. Alignment then he showed some
- 24:06Speaker 2: sustaining power as a bull. Rusher is his arm lane
- 24:10Speaker 2: shorter than you, Want, absolutely that'll factor. In but you
- 24:16Speaker 2: know he's because he's more of an. Athlete he's an interesting.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Guy so he could be one of those guys that
- 24:22Speaker 2: becomes sort of scheme specific because you're not drafting him
- 24:25Speaker 2: as a run. Defender, now can he defend the, run,
- 24:27Speaker 2: sure but you're not drafting him to be a run
- 24:30Speaker 2: defender like most of these other. GUYS i think this
- 24:33Speaker 2: guy can work in a system where there's a lot of, movement, slants.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Stunts you, know he's an. Athlete he's a good looper
- 24:40Speaker 2: because he's got body flexibility and quickness and. Burst, so you,
- 24:44Speaker 2: know so much of this is. Dependent teams will look
- 24:47Speaker 2: at a player and, see what's my? Scheme how does
- 24:49Speaker 2: he fit my scheme because so much of now THE
- 24:52Speaker 2: nfl is scheme. Adaptability you, know, obviously if you have
- 24:55Speaker 2: a transcendent player Like Jalen carter was transcending, player you
- 25:00Speaker 2: can play in any. Scheme you, know Could Caleb banks
- 25:04Speaker 2: could probably play in any. Scheme Peter woods at his absolute,
- 25:08Speaker 2: BEST i don't, know because of the arm. Length some
- 25:11Speaker 2: teams might shy, away but you, know most of these
- 25:14Speaker 2: guys then become kind of scheme. Specific you, Know halton
- 25:17Speaker 2: would fit really well in one of, those you, know
- 25:20Speaker 2: maybe like A rams type, scheme you, know like you,
- 25:24Speaker 2: know A Braidon fitst type, player Because Braidon fisk was
- 25:26Speaker 2: not three hundred and twenty, pounds.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Right, Right, Greg we just went through a bunch of
- 25:32Speaker 1: interior defensive. Linemen so just to put things in, perspective
- 25:36Speaker 1: how many of the guys that we just talked about
- 25:38Speaker 1: our natural zero techniques line up over the center in
- 25:42Speaker 1: a five man front from day one in THE nfl.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Dominic gardans can do it in a. HEARTBEAT i, mean
- 25:48Speaker 2: that's that's not a problem for him at. All let's
- 25:52Speaker 2: see you looking at the. List Lee hunter can do
- 25:54Speaker 2: it for, sure. Okay Darryl jackson, absolutely those are the
- 25:59Speaker 2: three for. Sure. Okay kate McDonald, could but you, know
- 26:06Speaker 2: not as person, though, Right, yeah, YEAH i mean, probably,
- 26:11Speaker 2: yeah he can do. IT i don't know if if
- 26:13Speaker 2: you put him there, Though but those three for sure
- 26:15Speaker 2: THAT i.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Just, mentioned and the rest you would say are more
- 26:19Speaker 1: three technique by.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Trade, YEAH i, mean you, Know Caleb banks is the
- 26:23Speaker 2: sort of The superman and all. This you, know you
- 26:27Speaker 2: just because of his, size his, length the arm, length the,
- 26:31Speaker 2: wingspan you, know the, ability he could probably do. Anything you.
- 26:35Speaker 2: KNOW i don't want to, say you, know because he's been.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Hurt it's hard to give like a definitive of oh,
- 26:40Speaker 2: yeah BUT i mean at his, best if he's, healthy
- 26:44Speaker 2: he could probably pretty much do. Anything, great.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Awesome that is a look at this year's class of
- 26:52Speaker 1: top interior defensive linemen for the twenty twenty SIX Nfl,
- 26:56Speaker 1: draft and of course all these great tape breakdowns brought
- 26:59Speaker 1: to you By Greg cosell For greg And Adam. Kaplan
- 27:02Speaker 1: I'm Jeff. Mosher you've been Watching The intel With Greg
- 27:06Speaker 1: cosell On inside The birds
