- 4:38Speaker 2: author Jay Williams. Hey, girlie, how are you? I am good,
- 4:47Speaker 2: just reading all let me me tired, So thank you
- 4:57Speaker 2: for being on SC Bookals and Friends. I am so
- 5:00Speaker 2: on it to have you here tonight. We're gonna start off.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I read all that, okay, but I like to hear
- 5:11Speaker 2: about you from you, So tell us something that I
- 5:15Speaker 2: didn't be that's interesting about you.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Well, I'm just a hometown studing girl, Helen from Pineville, Louisiana.
- 5:26Speaker 3: I love my pig feet, my chitterlings, my hawk mank
- 5:30Speaker 3: and all that stuff. But one thing is I am
- 5:34Speaker 3: a woman of God who loved God and who loved
- 5:38Speaker 3: God's people. And I love my family time. I love
- 5:43Speaker 3: to write, and I love basketball and fishing.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Okay, see fishing, all that quietness, love it?
- 6:00Speaker 2: You eat the fish.
- 6:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not putting warm on the pull over.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I can't.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Question.
- 6:13Speaker 2: How is that being a small town girl a fact
- 6:18Speaker 2: you're writing?
- 6:20Speaker 3: Well, being a small town girl, it lets me see
- 6:25Speaker 3: what is going on around me. And being a small
- 6:29Speaker 3: town girl, I have things in my mind that really
- 6:33Speaker 3: can't expand beyond where I'm at. Mostly people would say
- 6:40Speaker 3: how do you write so much and then a book
- 6:43Speaker 3: just come out and just come out. I like to
- 6:46Speaker 3: be alone sometimes and when I'm alone, I just write
- 6:51Speaker 3: things down, and when I write them down, Bam, I
- 6:54Speaker 3: have a book. And being that I had trans position
- 7:00Speaker 3: from the Christian writing until until like, I'm writing things
- 7:07Speaker 3: about other people lives or what I see, what's going on,
- 7:12Speaker 3: and it had really became bigger now because I'm more
- 7:16Speaker 3: focused on what's going on around me.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I like that. Mm, that's wow, you cool girls? So
- 7:29Speaker 2: h how what what if you had? And I really
- 7:33Speaker 2: don't like to put people in the box, but this
- 7:35Speaker 2: is a question I like to ask, if you had
- 7:38Speaker 2: to put your writing style in a genre box, what
- 7:44Speaker 2: genre will I be pulling out?
- 7:49Speaker 3: Mostly nonfiction and Christianity. But like said, I don't want
- 7:58Speaker 3: to be boxed in anymore. I'm not forgeting God, but
- 8:03Speaker 3: I'm putting it as where life life is life in
- 8:09Speaker 3: You get what I mean, you go beyond christanity. What
- 8:14Speaker 3: happens when I'm saved? I'm saved, but then I go
- 8:18Speaker 3: through this, I go through that, but then if I
- 8:22Speaker 3: fall am I'm still saved. Is a God with me?
- 8:29Speaker 3: So then I want to go beyond that goal. And
- 8:32Speaker 3: then I want to let people know, hey, we're human.
- 8:36Speaker 3: We're gonna make for fakes, we're gonna error, but the
- 8:40Speaker 3: Lord still loves us in the midst of our mess.
- 8:45Speaker 2: That is beautiful because you reach them where they are.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Right.
- 8:53Speaker 2: I love the fact that you're not on a pedestal
- 8:59Speaker 2: and you aren't human because guess what, none of us
- 9:03Speaker 2: mean the mark. But I don't need you to look
- 9:05Speaker 2: at me because I missed the mark, because you can
- 9:08Speaker 2: miss it in the day or two, or you missed
- 9:10Speaker 2: it in the past. I love that and I would
- 9:14Speaker 2: say thank you for that, well, truly say thank you. Right,
- 9:20Speaker 2: So what makes you? What made you? I'm sorry, I
- 9:26Speaker 2: want to become an author.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Well, like I said, I was going through some stuff
- 9:33Speaker 3: in my younger days when I was a child and
- 9:35Speaker 3: stuff things had happened to me, and I was journaling
- 9:40Speaker 3: a lot. So the Lord told me to put this
- 9:45Speaker 3: in a book form because there are a lot of
- 9:48Speaker 3: people out there that had went through the same thing
- 9:52Speaker 3: you went through, and so by you helping them with
- 9:55Speaker 3: this book porn and they can see how that I
- 10:00Speaker 3: helped you get out of your miss And once I
- 10:05Speaker 3: started writing that one book It's like the rest of
- 10:09Speaker 3: them just poured out, just kept coming out, kept coming out.
- 10:13Speaker 3: So when I wanted to give up and just to
- 10:16Speaker 3: say stop, I couldn't stop because it just it just
- 10:21Speaker 3: kept coming and just kept coming. And this last one
- 10:25Speaker 3: I did, The Hidden Love Affair. This is about a family,
- 10:33Speaker 3: the bishop and his wife, but they have issues. Because
- 10:40Speaker 3: just because you have a title, do not mean you
- 10:43Speaker 3: don't have things going on within you, your kids acting up,
- 10:48Speaker 3: You not all the way there yet, just because you're
- 10:51Speaker 3: wearing a title, this specific book uncovers the things that
- 10:58Speaker 3: most people had, you know what I'm saying, They are
- 11:02Speaker 3: hiding behind the title. But this book it brings things
- 11:08Speaker 3: to the light for the or to let you know, hey,
- 11:12Speaker 3: even though you mess up, he is still there and
- 11:17Speaker 3: he can use you in the midst of your mess. Okay, yeah,
- 11:24Speaker 3: you don't have to be perfect.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Surely will and people because they fall like okay, that's it, right,
- 11:33Speaker 2: didn't he say seventy times seven?
- 11:36Speaker 3: That's it?
- 11:38Speaker 2: Get up and do it? Yeah, so far fall fix
- 11:47Speaker 2: you get here and make it do what it does.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Right there you go. Right, So my.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Next question for you, it's, so, how did you come
- 12:01Speaker 2: up with the title of your book.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Of the one you have now with the Yes, different people,
- 12:14Speaker 3: we go through different things in life. You are not
- 12:19Speaker 3: labeled by your past. You are not labeled by what
- 12:24Speaker 3: you are going through during this season. The object of
- 12:29Speaker 3: it is do not allow your occurrent season to remain there.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Do not remain there, but to keep going and then
- 12:41Speaker 3: keep going because you don't want your old season to
- 12:46Speaker 3: contaminate your new season. So I got to see how
- 12:51Speaker 3: can I hear the voice of God to move on?
- 12:55Speaker 3: Because some people they will say, no, I can't because
- 12:59Speaker 3: because this is too hard. I can't go through this.
- 13:03Speaker 3: We're going to go through life. We gonna be life there,
- 13:06Speaker 3: but you're gonna have to know how to go through.
- 13:09Speaker 3: And so that's how that book came about.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Wow, wow, Yeah, what is the biggest tape that you
- 13:21Speaker 2: get from writing that you have from writing that book?
- 13:25Speaker 2: Because what you just give so much knowledge right there?
- 13:29Speaker 2: What was what is your biggest takeaway from writing?
- 13:33Speaker 3: My biggest takeaway was, well, my biggest take was when
- 13:38Speaker 3: people say you helped me, this book found me. I
- 13:43Speaker 3: found myself in this book. I was wondering, I was
- 13:47Speaker 3: asking God why I was going through this. So then
- 13:51Speaker 3: this had that happened to me. I found myself in
- 13:55Speaker 3: this book. And when that I'm writing, I am actually
- 13:59Speaker 3: asking God to a download in me what to write
- 14:03Speaker 3: because I don't know what to right. So that is
- 14:06Speaker 3: my biggest thing is to hear you help me. In
- 14:12Speaker 3: this book. I found myself.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Oh my god, that is beautiful. Oh my god. So
- 14:25Speaker 2: how do you reach your readers? Do you did you
- 14:28Speaker 2: take the road of self publishing or did you just
- 14:32Speaker 2: decided to go with an agency? How do you reach
- 14:36Speaker 2: your readers?
- 14:38Speaker 3: I reached my reasons. Okay, my first two books. I
- 14:41Speaker 3: went through the traditional publishing and I wasn't satisfied. I
- 14:47Speaker 3: wasn't satisfied at all. So the Lord told me, say
- 14:49Speaker 3: go through the self publishing mode. I actually taught myself
- 14:55Speaker 3: to get the middle man out the way. So I
- 14:59Speaker 3: go through self publishing. I do my own upcovers and everything,
- 15:05Speaker 3: and it's been going great. I put my rights everything.
- 15:11Speaker 2: So what would you say to an author that is like,
- 15:14Speaker 2: I don't know about self publishing? How would you give
- 15:20Speaker 2: them that swift kick to say just the role to go?
- 15:23Speaker 2: Or in other words, how how has self publishing benefit
- 15:29Speaker 2: you and how would you think it would benefit other authors?
- 15:33Speaker 3: I think it would benefit authors because you are cutting
- 15:38Speaker 3: out the middle man. Your royalties belong to you one
- 15:43Speaker 3: and whereas other people they will, you know, take away
- 15:49Speaker 3: from what you want to put down. No, you put
- 15:52Speaker 3: exactly what you want to write. It is very beneficial.
- 16:00Speaker 3: I say it like that, and you can't be like,
- 16:03Speaker 3: I don't know, I'm lazy on this. No, you can't
- 16:07Speaker 3: be lazy. You've got to be the tournament. I'm going
- 16:11Speaker 3: to put this out and then I'm gonna put it
- 16:15Speaker 3: out my way.
- 16:18Speaker 2: So setting those goals seem to be a big thing
- 16:21Speaker 2: when it comes to self publishing and actually speaking to
- 16:25Speaker 2: exactly you don't have.
- 16:26Speaker 3: To have and you have to put your work out there.
- 16:29Speaker 3: You got to let people know you are out there.
- 16:32Speaker 3: You can't depend on nobody else. It's going to take
- 16:36Speaker 3: a lot of advertisement and stuff. If you are ready
- 16:42Speaker 3: to work, self publishing is the way.
- 16:47Speaker 2: So it seems like self publishing it might be more work,
- 16:51Speaker 2: but it's the benefits of getting out there right doing
- 16:58Speaker 2: traditional publishing, having to wonder if your book is getting
- 17:04Speaker 2: the correct.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Marketing exactly exactly makes sense.
- 17:10Speaker 2: So I know that we are in that halfway mark.
- 17:16Speaker 2: So I'm going to go ahead and give my readers
- 17:18Speaker 2: the secret code word. I know you want to what
- 17:22Speaker 2: are you talking about? So let me tell you what's
- 17:24Speaker 2: going on, Miss Williams. So we have a contest at
- 17:28Speaker 2: sci Bookus and friends to help those get that reading
- 17:33Speaker 2: bug for the summer. I personally would love to prevent
- 17:38Speaker 2: the summer slide. If you get the next month's issue
- 17:44Speaker 2: of Inspiring off this magazine, the July issue, it will
- 17:47Speaker 2: tell you information about that summer slide. Okay, So every
- 17:53Speaker 2: week on Sunday, I will be given away a ten
- 17:57Speaker 2: dollars Amazon gift card to those who entered what did
- 18:02Speaker 2: bread for the week, and you get an extra entry
- 18:09Speaker 2: if you can send me the secret code work. And
- 18:14Speaker 2: the secret code word is a word that is very
- 18:19Speaker 2: very important to our author of this day. Our secret
- 18:24Speaker 2: code work is journey. So, author, what does the word
- 18:35Speaker 2: journey mean to you?
- 18:38Speaker 3: Journey mean each step that I take a lifetime, what's
- 18:44Speaker 3: going on through my life day by day, many by minute.
- 18:50Speaker 3: It's a journey every time we wake up in the
- 18:54Speaker 3: morning and see a new day, because we don't know
- 18:56Speaker 3: what that day is going to enhance. So the journey
- 19:02Speaker 3: of my life is writing. I have to put my
- 19:06Speaker 3: thoughts on paper. That's my journey. Whatever I go through
- 19:12Speaker 3: in life, that is my journey. And I'm going to
- 19:17Speaker 3: walk my journey with pride and with my head held
- 19:23Speaker 3: the pipe. And my journey also includes helping others.
- 19:30Speaker 2: That is beautiful. You put so much into that one word.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Let me see, well, look on two, three, four, five,
- 19:40Speaker 2: several words that much worse. That's so much into it.
- 19:45Speaker 2: So let's take a step into your world as a person,
- 19:51Speaker 2: as an individual. What is your favorite reading snack.
- 20:01Speaker 3: My favorite reading slack is my devotional because I love them.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I love devotionals because devotionals motivate me. Because I need
- 20:12Speaker 3: something to motivate me every day. So each morning I
- 20:17Speaker 3: wake up, I say my prayers and everything, and I
- 20:20Speaker 3: got to read a devotional to help my day go
- 20:23Speaker 3: for them.
- 20:25Speaker 2: You know what, that's.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Crazy, just what you do it too.
- 20:33Speaker 2: But I got my little Denis bread bringing.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Yes, that motivates you.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Because in my church, when you get out of church,
- 20:44Speaker 2: they have to stand and they have on our side.
- 20:46Speaker 3: We have it too, they have in church.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I have one at work and I keep one of them.
- 20:54Speaker 3: First, I would be.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Jesus real quick, because you're about to meet seating in
- 21:02Speaker 2: a minute at the end of my show. I love
- 21:14Speaker 2: to have fun, as you can tell, so I do
- 21:18Speaker 2: fun questions. Okay, if who is your favorite gospel artists?
- 21:30Speaker 3: My God, so many Karen Clarkshare. Okay, I love kar
- 21:36Speaker 3: We're gonna take Karen clock Share. Karen clocks Share. Ask
- 21:42Speaker 3: she for one of your books that you recommend for
- 21:46Speaker 3: her to read.
- 21:47Speaker 2: What book would it be and why?
- 21:52Speaker 3: Well, how to Flora is during the future seasons of
- 21:57Speaker 3: your life? Because she is us Ah lady uh to
- 22:05Speaker 3: her husband of the Church of gard In Christ and
- 22:08Speaker 3: she has a huge responsibility not only in the church
- 22:13Speaker 3: but with her husband being his wife, and she goes
- 22:17Speaker 3: through a lot of seasons, you know, a lot of things,
- 22:19Speaker 3: and I know being a pastor's wife, they do go
- 22:24Speaker 3: through a lot. So I would recommend that book to her.
- 22:29Speaker 3: How during the spiritual seasons of your life?
- 22:34Speaker 2: Okay, here's our second fun question. If hmm, come on,
- 22:48Speaker 2: I know how I want to say. So the book
- 22:53Speaker 2: that we feature tonight is the Seasons? Correct?
- 22:57Speaker 3: What how to Florish during the spiritual seasons of your life?
- 23:03Speaker 3: All right?
- 23:04Speaker 2: If we can get someone to narrow it that narrowing
- 23:09Speaker 2: that book, whose voice would you like to hear read
- 23:14Speaker 2: your words? I know, right, that's a good one in it.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Oh wow. Oh. I would say Cindy Trim because Cindy
- 23:27Speaker 3: Trim got a powerful voice that when she speaks, everyone listens.
- 23:32Speaker 3: You know she has something to say. When she gets up,
- 23:36Speaker 3: she have something to say. She's not thinking about it
- 23:39Speaker 3: or not, it's just her voice. Her voice is like
- 23:43Speaker 3: everybody have to be at a command. I mean, listen,
- 23:47Speaker 3: she's she's gonna speak. So I would have to say
- 23:51Speaker 3: that doctor Cindy Trim, are right? Yeap.
- 23:58Speaker 2: What would you like to say to your readers, who
- 24:03Speaker 2: is hearing this interview for the first time on a
- 24:08Speaker 2: website looking at your books? What would you like to
- 24:10Speaker 2: say to them? How would you how would you reach
- 24:16Speaker 2: out to them?
- 24:18Speaker 3: I will tell them. If you have a gift inside
- 24:22Speaker 3: and you pondering on it, don't ponder because once that
- 24:26Speaker 3: you ponder on it, you will lose it. You're not
- 24:28Speaker 3: going to want to do it. Whatever God has gifted
- 24:31Speaker 3: you to do, just do it. Even if it's writing
- 24:36Speaker 3: a book and you say I don't know where to start, yes,
- 24:40Speaker 3: you do. You start by just writing what comes to mind.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Just write whatever comes to mind and then once that
- 24:49Speaker 3: you finished, you will compile them together. And I also
- 24:54Speaker 3: want to encourage you as well. Don't give up. Keep
- 25:00Speaker 3: seeking even though you may not know why you are
- 25:03Speaker 3: here on this earth. Everybody is here for a purpose.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Don't give up. If you don't know your purpose, thank
- 25:13Speaker 3: God and ask him your purpose. And also, if you
- 25:18Speaker 3: want a good read, look at my books and I
- 25:23Speaker 3: guarantee it you're gonna find yourself. Oh I need this book
- 25:27Speaker 3: right here be a title of the book, and then
- 25:30Speaker 3: I made it like that. It will captivate your mind.
- 25:35Speaker 3: It will captivate the thing you think you are going
- 25:40Speaker 3: through it. It will captivate you to say, hey, I
- 25:43Speaker 3: got to read this. So I just want to encourage you.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Don't you give up whatever is on your mind, your vision,
- 25:53Speaker 3: your dream, go for it. Just go for it. Simp.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I don't y'all heard what she said. Just go for it.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Just go for it. You guys, grab your copy of
- 26:09Speaker 2: How to Flourish in the Spiritual Seasons of your Life.
- 26:14Speaker 2: It is right well. I put all her books up
- 26:17Speaker 2: there because all the titles. I really feel that it
- 26:21Speaker 2: can help someone. So if you're looking at the podcast,
- 26:26Speaker 2: not if you're hearing, if you're hearing, I got something
- 26:30Speaker 2: for you later on. You can look at it to
- 26:31Speaker 2: replay on YouTube and all of our other outlets. But

- 26:41Speaker 2: that was speaking to your heart and speaking to your life. Okay,
- 26:45Speaker 2: you guys, miss Williams. I appreciate you. I love you
- 26:49Speaker 2: for being here with me today.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Love you more.
- 26:56Speaker 2: You guys, we want to thank her Woman Time author
- 27:01Speaker 2: Patricia J. Williams. But thank for But before you leave, now,
- 27:08Speaker 2: you got to give us the rundown because they got
- 27:10Speaker 2: to be able to follow you on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok.
