Mega Edition: Ghislaine Maxwell's Defense Comes To A Close After A Contentious Trial (9/29/26) · The Vault: The Epstein Files

Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles. Today,
• 0:04
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell's defense team wrapped things up, folks, and it
• 0:09
Speaker 1: was after only eight witnesses were brought to the stand
• 0:13
Speaker 1: in her defense. Now, usually we'd go through all of
• 0:17
Speaker 1: the witness statements for the day and what they talked
• 0:20
Speaker 1: about in the courtroom, but it was clunky as hell
• 0:23
Speaker 1: today in the courtroom. They started, then they stopped, and
• 0:27
Speaker 1: really the only witness of note that was up on
• 0:31
Speaker 1: the stand to give any testimony was Eva Dubin. Now,
• 0:36
Speaker 1: Eva Dubin is the wife of Glenn Dubin. And Glenn
• 0:42
Speaker 1: Dubin is not only somebody who was obviously in Jeffrey
• 0:46
Speaker 1: Epstein's orbit, but according to Virginia Roberts, Glenn Dubin assaulted
• 0:53
Speaker 1: her as she was being trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein. So
• 0:57
Speaker 1: he's not only just an enabler, and his wife shouldn't
• 1:00
Speaker 1: just be a witness for the defense here, he is
• 1:04
Speaker 1: actually somebody who has been credibly accused of rape. So
• 1:09
Speaker 1: it shows you the bottom of the barrel that Ghislaine
• 1:13
Speaker 1: Maxwell is dredging when it came to witnesses. Now, there
• 1:17
Speaker 1: was the talk of 35 witnesses that the defense was
• 1:20
Speaker 1: talking about bringing up, And I thought that was a
• 1:24
Speaker 1: bit extreme. So it certainly is not going to be
• 1:27
Speaker 1: the case at this point. And you look at the
• 1:31
Speaker 1: witnesses that they had and what they brought to the
• 1:34
Speaker 1: table and the picture that they were painting. And to me, anyway,
• 1:40
Speaker 1: it certainly didn't move Ghislaine Maxwell's defense any further. It
• 1:46
Speaker 1: didn't push the goalposts, if you will. It was pretty
• 1:50
Speaker 1: much them spinning their wheels. And what happens here is
• 1:54
Speaker 1: you can see very much so why Ghislaine Maxwell and
• 1:59
Speaker 1: her attorneys played the game of loopholes and technicalities the
• 2:03
Speaker 1: way they did. They knew that they didn't have a
• 2:06
Speaker 1: chance in a courtroom trial. They don't have any evidence
• 2:13
Speaker 1: on their side to push their story along. All they
• 2:16
Speaker 1: can hope to do is punch holes in the defense.
• 2:20
Speaker 1: And then when you see her not taking the stand, well,
• 2:23
Speaker 1: for me, that says everything that I need to hear,
• 2:27
Speaker 1: to be honest. And I know people will say, oh, well,
• 2:30
Speaker 1: a lawyer tells her not to take a stand. I
• 2:32
Speaker 1: don't care. If it's my life on the line, going
• 2:34
Speaker 1: to prison for the rest of my life, and I'm
• 2:37
Speaker 1: innocent especially, you better believe I'm going to go up there,
• 2:40
Speaker 1: take the stand, and give my account of what happened
• 2:44
Speaker 1: and defend my name. So you're thinking for all of
• 2:49
Speaker 1: this money with Ghislaine Maxwell's defense that we're going to
• 2:52
Speaker 1: end with a bang. And folks, we went out with
• 2:54
Speaker 1: a whimper. Now, they're going to be meeting tomorrow as well.
• 3:01
Speaker 1: It's a bit of a conference. And then Monday will
• 3:05
Speaker 1: be the closing arguments. After that, it'll be the deliberations.
• 3:09
Speaker 1: And the jury will either make a decision on Ghislaine
• 3:13
Speaker 1: Maxwell's fate right before Christmas or right after the holiday.
• 3:17
Speaker 1: My guess is they're coming right back to get back
• 3:20
Speaker 1: to work. But it's kind of an odd place for
• 3:25
Speaker 1: the jury to be, right? Hard-ended by a holiday like that.
• 3:29
Speaker 1: And you would think that they want to get home
• 3:32
Speaker 1: and get on with their holidays. But I don't know.
• 3:37
Speaker 1: After only eight defense witnesses are called here, you would
• 3:42
Speaker 1: think that it won't take the jury all that long
• 3:45
Speaker 1: to deliberate. When we were first talking about this case,
• 3:48
Speaker 1: they were saying that it's going to go six weeks.
• 3:51
Speaker 1: And that's what my schedule was based around. So you
• 3:56
Speaker 1: would think that there's going to be more testimony from
• 3:58
Speaker 1: both sides. And when the prosecution wrapped it up early...
• 4:03
Speaker 1: I figured that perhaps the defense would try and push
• 4:06
Speaker 1: it home a little bit and call maybe not 35 witnesses,
• 4:10
Speaker 1: but certainly more than eight. Especially, like I said, when
• 4:14
Speaker 1: you look at what they brought to the table, it
• 4:16
Speaker 1: was kind of ridiculous. And I don't even know what
• 4:21
Speaker 1: sort of help any of these witnesses were for Ghislaine Maxwell.
• 4:26
Speaker 1: A couple of the assistants talking about how Ghislaine Maxwell
• 4:29
Speaker 1: was nice to them and, but none of them were
• 4:35
Speaker 1: ever even in the area when this stuff was going on.
• 4:41
Speaker 1: So just because Jeffrey Dahmer's co-workers never saw him kill
• 4:44
Speaker 1: and eat anyone, does that mean it didn't happen? So
• 4:50
Speaker 1: the whole group of witnesses that have been brought forward,
• 4:53
Speaker 1: I just haven't found to be worthwhile as far as
• 4:58
Speaker 1: the defense. And if it was me and I was
• 5:00
Speaker 1: sitting in that seat that Ghislaine Maxwell is sitting in,
• 5:04
Speaker 1: I'd be freaking out at my defense team right now.
• 5:07
Speaker 1: And I would definitely be taking the stand, but she's
• 5:10
Speaker 1: not going to do it. She says that in her opinion,
• 5:14
Speaker 1: the government has not yet made the case and she's innocent.
• 5:18
Speaker 1: But I would think that taking the stand would go
• 5:22
Speaker 1: a long way with the jury, especially we're not talking
• 5:25
Speaker 1: about somebody who's not used to speaking in public or
• 5:28
Speaker 1: somebody who doesn't have a large vocabulary or doesn't know
• 5:33
Speaker 1: what they're saying. This is somebody who's very highly educated,
• 5:37
Speaker 1: Oxford educated. She should be able to get up there
• 5:40
Speaker 1: on that stand and give an accounting of what went
• 5:43
Speaker 1: down and what happened and refute the testimony of these
• 5:47
Speaker 1: survivors one by one. Now, I guess her legal team
• 5:55
Speaker 1: probably took a look at all of that, and they
• 5:58
Speaker 1: probably had some mock runs previously on how a jury
• 6:02
Speaker 1: would react to her taking the stand, and my guess
• 6:05
Speaker 1: is it didn't come back very favorably. So they decided
• 6:09
Speaker 1: to just end today, wrap up the case, and hope
• 6:13
Speaker 1: that enough doubt was punched into the testimony of the
• 6:17
Speaker 1: survivors and the witnesses brought forth by the prosecution in
• 6:22
Speaker 1: the last two weeks or so. I don't really believe
• 6:26
Speaker 1: that they've done that job. I don't think that they
• 6:29
Speaker 1: have advanced their narrative to a point where a juror
• 6:34
Speaker 1: is going to look at it and say, yep, not guilty. Now,
• 6:41
Speaker 1: is that, you know, set in stone? Of course not.
• 6:44
Speaker 1: There might be something that we're completely missing here. But
• 6:48
Speaker 1: from what evidence has been presented thus far, it certainly
• 6:52
Speaker 1: looks to me as if the prosecution, which certainly didn't
• 6:57
Speaker 1: have a stellar display throughout this whole thing either, by
• 7:00
Speaker 1: the way, it looks like they have certainly done enough
• 7:03
Speaker 1: to make their case at the very least. And when
• 7:08
Speaker 1: you see the defense end like they did today, you know,
• 7:11
Speaker 1: you might want to read a little bit into that
• 7:13
Speaker 1: and say, oh, man, they're really on their heels. But
• 7:16
Speaker 1: I'm not well versed enough in these kinds of trials
• 7:19
Speaker 1: to say that or to make those sort of assertions
• 7:23
Speaker 1: from my position over here in the peanut gallery. It
• 7:26
Speaker 1: doesn't look good for the defense. But again, I don't
• 7:30
Speaker 1: follow these trials on a day-to-day basis for the most part.
• 7:33
Speaker 1: In fact, this is the first trial I have ever followed.
• 7:36
Speaker 1: I usually have zero interest in the legalese because it's
• 7:40
Speaker 1: all jumble soup, right? It's confusing and a lot of
• 7:44
Speaker 1: nonsense and a lot of boring lulls in the action,
• 7:48
Speaker 1: if you will. So... This might be something that the defense,
• 7:52
Speaker 1: you know, does on a regular basis. And I have
• 7:54
Speaker 1: read in these kinds of cases, sexual abuse cases, that
• 7:58
Speaker 1: the defense does try to keep their presentations short and
• 8:02
Speaker 1: sweet because they understand the fragility of things when you're
• 8:07
Speaker 1: dealing with sexual assault. So what we're going to do today,
• 8:11
Speaker 1: instead of diving all the way into, you know, the
• 8:15
Speaker 1: courtroom back and forth like we have been every other day,
• 8:18
Speaker 1: considering we had hours and hours of that. What we're
• 8:22
Speaker 1: going to do today is just go through a couple
• 8:23
Speaker 1: of articles and wrap up what happened in the courtroom.
• 8:27
Speaker 1: Like I said, the Eva Dubin stuff is the most important,
• 8:31
Speaker 1: but even then there was nothing groundbreaking, nothing that was
• 8:36
Speaker 1: missed as far as being reported by the articles in
• 8:40
Speaker 1: the aftermath. Now, there was no like, you know, little
• 8:44
Speaker 1: gems or anything like that. Eva Dubin getting up there
• 8:48
Speaker 1: as a witness for Ghislaine Maxwell in this bizarro world
• 8:51
Speaker 1: we live in. So with that said, let's take a
• 8:54
Speaker 1: look at this article from CNN and let's see what
• 8:57
Speaker 1: they have to say. This article was authored by Lauren
• 9:01
Speaker 1: Davalli and Dakin Andone or Andone. Sorry, I might have
• 9:07
Speaker 1: mispronounced that one way or the other. Headline, Ghislaine Maxwell's
• 9:11
Speaker 1: defense team rests its case after she declines to testify.
• 9:15
Speaker 1: Glenn Maxwell's defense team has rested its case in her
• 9:18
Speaker 1: sex trafficking conspiracy trial without Maxwell taking the stand to testify.
• 9:23
Speaker 1: The defense rested after presenting its case over two days
• 9:27
Speaker 1: in which nine witnesses were called to testify in defense
• 9:30
Speaker 1: of Maxwell, a close confidant and longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein.
• 9:35
Speaker 1: Prosecutors said they would not put on any rebuttal. So again,
• 9:40
Speaker 1: that shows you what the prosecutors think about what the
• 9:43
Speaker 1: defense brought to the tables. They're not even going to
• 9:45
Speaker 1: put on a rebuttal. They're ready to go with what
• 9:48
Speaker 1: they have. They think that they've made a strong enough case,
• 9:51
Speaker 1: and they think that their case is going to end
• 9:53
Speaker 1: up in a conviction. Maxwell confirmed she would not testify
• 9:59
Speaker 1: in her case. defense Friday. Asked by Judge Allison Nathan
• 10:02
Speaker 1: if she understood her rights, Maxwell pulled down her mask
• 10:05
Speaker 1: and responded, Your Honor, the government has not proven its
• 10:08
Speaker 1: case beyond a reasonable doubt and so there is no
• 10:11
Speaker 1: need for me to testify. The jury was not present
• 10:15
Speaker 1: when this back and forth occurred. So, according to her,
• 10:19
Speaker 1: In her world, where, remember, all of us are the
• 10:22
Speaker 1: hero in our own story, right? In her world, nobody's
• 10:26
Speaker 1: made the case. I didn't do anything wrong. I had
• 10:28
Speaker 1: nothing to do with any of this. I'm not going
• 10:32
Speaker 1: to take the stand and testify on my own behalf,
• 10:35
  Speaker 1: which I find, honestly, crazy. Again, I'm not a $ 2, 000
• 10:39
Speaker 1: an hour lawyer either. I'm just looking at it from
• 10:43
Speaker 1: the average person perspective. And when, you know, someone is
• 10:49
Speaker 1: accused of something wrongly, or somebody is said to have
• 10:53
Speaker 1: committed a crime that they didn't commit, a lot of times,
• 10:56
Speaker 1: you know, I'd say a majority of times, a vast
• 10:58
Speaker 1: majority of times, most people want to clear their name, right?
• 11:01
Speaker 1: Get up there, tell their side of the story. But
• 11:04
Speaker 1: Maxwell has never done anything like that. She's hidden behind
• 11:07
Speaker 1: the non-prosecution agreement, and she's hidden behind the fact that
• 11:11
Speaker 1: the media, for the most part, up until recently, has
• 11:14
Speaker 1: not cared one single lick about this whole entire fiasco.
• 11:20
Speaker 1: Closing arguments are expected Monday, and Judge Allison Nathan said
• 11:24
Speaker 1: she expects to instruct and charge the jury the same day,
• 11:28
Speaker 1: giving jurors two days to deliberate before court closes next
• 11:31
Speaker 1: Thursday and Friday for the Christmas holidays. So they have
• 11:35
Speaker 1: two days right before Christmas to get their deliberation on.
• 11:38
Speaker 1: And obviously, they'll go back and forth in the courtroom
• 11:41
Speaker 1: and they'll discuss all of the, in the juror's room
• 11:44
Speaker 1: I mean, they'll discuss all of the evidence that they
• 11:47
Speaker 1: have received, what they think, and they'll try and come
• 11:50
Speaker 1: to a conclusion. The jury can return to continue deliberating
• 11:56
Speaker 1: the following week if they have not reached a verdict.
• 11:59
Speaker 1: Maxwell is pleaded not guilty to six federal charges, including
• 12:03
Speaker 1: sex trafficking of minors, enticing a minor to travel to
• 12:06
Speaker 1: engage in illegal sex acts, transporting a minor with the
• 12:09
Speaker 1: intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and three counts
• 12:13
Speaker 1: of conspiracy. Um, I don't see any man act in here.
• 12:18
Speaker 1: Very weird. Enticing a minor to travel to engage in
• 12:20
Speaker 1: illegal sex acts? That's pretty much what the man act
• 12:24
Speaker 1: was put on the books for, no? The case against Maxwell, 59,
• 12:31
Speaker 1: relies mainly on the testimony of four women who say
• 12:34
Speaker 1: they were sexually abused by Epstein when they were under
• 12:37
Speaker 1: the age of 18 and that Maxwell facilitated and sometimes
• 12:41
Speaker 1: participated in the abuse. Prosecutors rested their case last Friday
• 12:46
Speaker 1: after 10 days of testimony and calling 24 witnesses. So
• 12:51
Speaker 1: we got a third of the witnesses called by the defense.
• 12:55
Speaker 1: And again, like I said, they were not substantial in
• 12:58
Speaker 1: my opinion. I don't think any of the witnesses called
• 13:02
Speaker 1: by the defense were of a substantial nature that made
• 13:07
Speaker 1: you sit up and take notice or made you say
• 13:09
Speaker 1: to yourself, holy shit, maybe I've read this whole thing wrong.
• 13:12
Speaker 1: Maybe I've missed something. Because I'm always looking for evidence
• 13:16
Speaker 1: that's going to challenge my biases and challenge my beliefs.
• 13:19
Speaker 1: And I've continued to do that throughout this whole entire ordeal,
• 13:23
Speaker 1: at least since I've been following it for three years.
• 13:25
Speaker 1: And to tell you the truth, folks, It always ends
• 13:29
Speaker 1: up in the same place. Maxwell, Epstein, and all of
• 13:32
Speaker 1: their enablers, they were guilty of all of this. Maxwell's
• 13:38
Speaker 1: defense attorneys have argued she is being scapegoated for Epstein's
• 13:42
Speaker 1: actions and have attacked both the motivations and memory of
• 13:46
Speaker 1: the women who say they were abused. Now look, I'm
• 13:50
Speaker 1: not going to sit here and tell you that Ghislaine Maxwell...
• 13:53
Speaker 1: should be the only one to go down for this.
• 13:55
Speaker 1: She shouldn't. Sarah Kellen Vickers, Adriana Ross, Leslie Groff, and
• 14:00
Speaker 1: a host of others who have been intimately involved with
• 14:04
Speaker 1: Epstein throughout this whole entire thing, they all deserve their taste.
• 14:09
Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean that we should just be like, oh, well,
• 14:12
Speaker 1: since nobody else is on trial, nobody else is indicted, well,
• 14:15
Speaker 1: we shouldn't worry about Maxwell. What sort of nonsense is that?
• 14:20
Speaker 1: Maxwell needs to go to prison. So does Sarah Kellen Vickers,
• 14:23
Speaker 1: in my opinion. Hopefully they'll indict her someday. But with
• 14:27
Speaker 1: the non-prosecution agreement, obviously it's going to be difficult. Epstein
• 14:34
Speaker 1: was indicted on federal sex trafficking charges in July 2019,
• 14:39
Speaker 1: but died by suicide in prison a month later, allegedly.
• 14:43
Speaker 1: He'd previously pleaded guilty in 2008 to state prostitution charges.
• 14:48
Speaker 1: And those prostitution charges, remember, all stemmed from the situation
• 14:52
Speaker 1: of bringing the girls to the house for massages in
• 14:55
Speaker 1: Palm Beach, all part of this sexual pyramid scheme he
• 14:59
Speaker 1: was running. And only one of those girls was able
• 15:02
Speaker 1: to give her testimony to the grand jury in Palm
• 15:05
Speaker 1: Beach because the prosecutors, Barry Kirscher's office, and the rest
• 15:09
Speaker 1: of those dunces worked with The defense, hand in hand, Lefkowitz, Dershowitz,
• 15:18
Speaker 1: Kenny Starr, the rest of them, to make sure that
• 15:22
Speaker 1: the accusers, little girls by the way, had their credibility
• 15:25
Speaker 1: ruined as well. Oh, because they drank, or they had
• 15:29
Speaker 1: pictures up on MySpace with a boy, or they, here's
• 15:32
Speaker 1: the big one, that's really going to knock you out
• 15:34
Speaker 1: of your socks, they smoked a pot. I mean, really? Really?
• 15:39
Speaker 1: And this is what was going down in Palm Beach
• 15:42
Speaker 1: in 2008 when all of this occurred. It could have
• 15:44
Speaker 1: all been stopped then. The defense on Friday called to
• 15:49
Speaker 1: the stand Eva Anderson Dubin, who testified she dated Epstein
• 15:53
Speaker 1: on and off from 1983 through about 1991. She confirmed
• 15:59
Speaker 1: that she and her now-husband, hedge fund billionaire Glenn Dubin,
• 16:03
Speaker 1: remained friends with Epstein through the 2000s. Now, I'm going
• 16:06
Speaker 1: to post an episode about Eva... Dubin and about her
• 16:12
Speaker 1: and Jeffrey Epstein's relationship and her husband as well. Now,
• 16:16
Speaker 1: I've posted a few episodes about the Dubins previously, and
• 16:20
Speaker 1: this one is going to be a little bit more context,
• 16:22
Speaker 1: considering she is the focal point, basically, of the discussion today.
• 16:28
Speaker 1: And Eva Dubin, as a witness, bringing her up here,
• 16:32
Speaker 1: I don't even understand what the defense is thinking. You're
• 16:34
Speaker 1: going to bring up the wife of a man who
• 16:36
Speaker 1: was credibly accused of raping Virginia Roberts. as a character witness?
• 16:46
Speaker 1: In response to questioning by the defense, Anderson Dubin said
• 16:49
Speaker 1: she had never participated in group sexualized massages with one
• 16:53
Speaker 1: of the accusers, referred to as Jane, who had earlier
• 16:56
Speaker 1: testified she recalled a woman named Eva had joined group
• 17:00
Speaker 1: sexualized massages with Epstein and Maxwell. So again, we really
• 17:04
Speaker 1: gonna use Eva Dubin as this, uh, the pinnacle of
• 17:09
Speaker 1: truth here? Sorry, not me. I've read way too much
• 17:12
Speaker 1: about these people to even begin to trust what she
• 17:16
Speaker 1: has to say. I think I'll believe Virginia and what
• 17:19
Speaker 1: Virginia has said over what any of the Dubins ever
• 17:22
Speaker 1: have to say. There's an article out there as well
• 17:27
Speaker 1: about a situation at the Dubin's house that I have
• 17:32
Speaker 1: an episode on that I'm going to look for. I
• 17:34
Speaker 1: have it in my archive somewhere and I'm going to
• 17:36
Speaker 1: post it. It's a disturbing article. article and episode about
• 17:40
Speaker 1: how there's a situation at the Dubin's house where one
• 17:45
Speaker 1: of the survivors who was brought there with Jeffrey Epstein
• 17:48
Speaker 1: and Ghislaine Maxwell is crying to the butler about her
• 17:52
Speaker 1: situation and it's just a whole brutal deal and we
• 17:56
Speaker 1: have account after account like this of these survivors throughout
• 18:00
Speaker 1: this whole entire thing and Eva Dubin is called as
• 18:04
Speaker 1: a character witness she should be Worried about getting her
• 18:09
Speaker 1: own defense attorneys. Never mind being a character witness for
• 18:11
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell. Her and her husband should be facing criminal charges,
• 18:15
Speaker 1: in my opinion. Asked Friday if she'd ever been involved
• 18:23
Speaker 1: in such a scenario with Jane, Dubin responded, absolutely not.
• 18:27
Speaker 1: A prosecutor clarified on cross-examination that Eva Anderson Dubin is
• 18:32
Speaker 1: not necessarily the only Eva to have interacted with Epstein,
• 18:35
Speaker 1: suggesting Jane could have been referring to someone else. And
• 18:38
Speaker 1: that's absolutely 100% correct as well. Was the only Eva
• 18:43
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein knows? Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell and their
• 18:47
Speaker 1: buddy Jean-Luc Brunel. They had a long list of girls
• 18:51
Speaker 1: from Eastern Europe that they like to bring to America
• 18:54
Speaker 1: to traffic. So I'm sure there were plenty of Evas
• 18:59
Speaker 1: running around. And the prosecution, again, did a pretty good
• 19:02
Speaker 1: job today. They were able to hammer home some points
• 19:06
Speaker 1: and they were able to really cement some of their narrative.
• 19:13
Speaker 1: On Thursday, as part of the defense effort to undermine
• 19:16
Speaker 1: the accuser's testimony, a psychologist and professor at the University
• 19:19
Speaker 1: of California, Irvine testified about false memories, telling the court
• 19:24
Speaker 1: people can be exposed to misinformation about an event after
• 19:28
Speaker 1: the fact and incorporate it into their memory, making it inaccurate.
• 19:33
Speaker 1: She was up there with all kinds of quackery yesterday,
• 19:35
Speaker 1: talking all kinds of crazy stuff. But when the chips
• 19:39
Speaker 1: were down and the lights were on, She didn't perform,
• 19:43
Speaker 1: meaning the doctor. She showed herself to be a hired gun,
• 19:46
Speaker 1: somebody chasing the dollar signs, looking to get that bag.
• 19:50
Speaker 1: and the millions of dollars she's made giving testimony for
• 19:52
Speaker 1: scumbags tells the whole story that you need to know. Now,
• 19:56
Speaker 1: that doesn't diminish her scholarly accomplishments, right? She is educated
• 20:02
Speaker 1: in her field and probably one of the foremost experts.
• 20:05
Speaker 1: But I have to question, if we're going to question
• 20:07
Speaker 1: the motivation of the survivors who were abused, we're not
• 20:10
Speaker 1: going to question the motivation of a hired gun? Even
• 20:16
Speaker 1: traumatic experiences can be subjected to post-event suggestion that can exaggerate, distort,
• 20:21
Speaker 1: or change the memory, Dr. Elizabeth Loftus said. She also said, though,
• 20:26
Speaker 1: that the core memories are remembered. The core memories of
• 20:30
Speaker 1: the trauma. Those aren't changed. Tense exchanges over trial timing
• 20:38
Speaker 1: with looming holiday break. Court began Friday with back and
• 20:42
Speaker 1: forth between the judge and the defense, who prior to
• 20:45
Speaker 1: the jury being called in, indicated it had at least
• 20:48
Speaker 1: two potential witnesses that could have carried their case into Monday,
• 20:51
Speaker 1: including one the defense said had ignored a subpoena. Judge
• 20:56
Speaker 1: Nathan was visibly frustrated by the news and asked the
• 20:59
Speaker 1: defense why she had not heard of the issue earlier,
• 21:01
Speaker 1: saying a non-responsive witness is not a little thing. Yeah,
• 21:05
Speaker 1: you can get arrested for not showing up for a
• 21:09
Speaker 1: subpoena that's been served to you. Pretty serious issue, right?
• 21:13
Speaker 1: Something that the court should probably be made aware of.
• 21:16
Speaker 1: But one thing we definitely have learned throughout this is
• 21:18
Speaker 1: that Maxwell's attorneys, they play by their own rules. These
• 21:22
Speaker 1: guys and gals, they're out there. They're not messing around.
• 21:25
Speaker 1: For their $ 50 million an hour, they're doxing people, doing
• 21:29
Speaker 1: whatever the hell they want. The other potential witness was
• 21:35
Speaker 1: an 81-year-old man who lives in the UK and owns
• 21:38
Speaker 1: a pub across the street from Maxwell's London townhome. Per
• 21:42
Speaker 1: the defense, his testimony would have helped prove the allegations
• 21:45
Speaker 1: by one of the accusers, Kate, could not have taken
• 21:48
Speaker 1: place when she says they did. So we got an
• 21:51
Speaker 1: 81-year-old man that they want to bring up. And they're
• 21:53
Speaker 1: talking about memory. Are they for real? This is what
• 21:58
Speaker 1: all this money gets you? This is what Christian Everdell, Mr. Prosecutor,
• 22:02
Speaker 1: big shot from Harvard, hanging out over there with all
• 22:05
Speaker 1: of his buddies from the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals,
• 22:07
Speaker 1: Christian Everdell, this is what it buys you? An 81-year-old
• 22:13
Speaker 1: pub owner is what your defense hinges on. I'm my own.
• 22:21
Speaker 1: Nathan also expressed concern about the pandemic and indicated she
• 22:25
Speaker 1: was inclined to compel the defense to rest its case Friday,
• 22:28
Speaker 1: according to her policy that parties have a witness ready
• 22:31
Speaker 1: to testify or rest their case. Well, you know what?
• 22:34
Speaker 1: Not for nothing, Judge Nathan. But if you were so
• 22:36
Speaker 1: concerned about the pandemic, you would have had phone lines
• 22:39
Speaker 1: for us to listen in on. Less people showing up,
• 22:41
Speaker 1: less people around, less chance to catch the crud. But nah,
• 22:45
Speaker 1: why have transparency, right? No need for transparency when you're
• 22:49
Speaker 1: running your courtroom like a mini fiefdom. Defense attorneys argued
• 22:55
Speaker 1: with the judge and prosecutors, with defense attorney Laura Menninger stating,
• 23:00
Speaker 1: our client's life is on the line. You know what,
• 23:02
Speaker 1: to be honest with you, I kind of agree with that.
• 23:04
  Speaker 1: This shouldn't be a rushed process. I don't want to
• 23:06
Speaker 1: leave any kind of weird legalese loopholes or danglies for
• 23:11
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell to, you know, wiggle off here. I don't
• 23:15
Speaker 1: want any of that BS to happen. And it happens
• 23:18
Speaker 1: more than you would think when it comes to prosecutorial
• 23:20
Speaker 1: misconduct and screwery in the courtroom, all kinds of nonsense.
• 23:25
Speaker 1: I don't want any of that to happen. Prosecutors felt
• 23:30
Speaker 1: the defense had ample time to sort out logistical issues.
• 23:33
Speaker 1: We strongly disagree with the suggestion that the defense counsel
• 23:36
Speaker 1: has been unduly rushed here, Prosecutor Maureen Comey said. Defense
• 23:41
Speaker 1: Attorney Bobby Sternum previously expressed concerns about the timing of
• 23:45
Speaker 1: closing arguments and potentially charging the jury to deliberate with
• 23:49
Speaker 1: limited time before the holiday break. Yeah, I kind of
• 23:54
Speaker 1: agree with that too. It's kind of rough. I know
• 23:56
Speaker 1: that as a juror, I'd be wanting to get to
• 23:59
Speaker 1: my Christmas celebrations. For me, Christmas begins way early in
• 24:04
Speaker 1: my family. You know, we have family coming in early,
• 24:07
Speaker 1: three weeks before the holiday. So, you know, It's a
• 24:10
Speaker 1: whole monthly ordeal for me and I definitely would be
• 24:13
Speaker 1: bummed if I had to sit on some jury for it.
• 24:15
Speaker 1: No doubt about it. But that's the way it ended
• 24:18
Speaker 1: up and that's the way the cookie crumbled. Sometimes you
• 24:21
Speaker 1: got to do what you got to do, right? Really
• 24:24
Speaker 1: what it comes down to is like 80% of the
• 24:26
Speaker 1: time we do what we have to do and only
• 24:28
Speaker 1: 20% of the time we get to do what we
• 24:30
Speaker 1: want to do. Christmas this year is particularly celebratory, she said,
• 24:38
Speaker 1: since people were not able to do that last year.
• 24:40
Speaker 1: Our concern is that the jury might feel we don't
• 24:43
Speaker 1: want to come back and rush to judgment. Ultimately, on Friday,
• 24:47
Speaker 1: the defense opted to withdraw its request for an arrest
• 24:49
Speaker 1: warrant for the witness who did not respond to the subpoena.
• 24:53
Speaker 1: The parties also agreed to a stipulation about Maxwell's property
• 24:56
Speaker 1: ownership in London in the 90s, so the defense opted
• 24:59
Speaker 1: not to continue the push for testimony from the pub owner.
• 25:04
Speaker 1: So that's what happened today in the courtroom, folks. And really,
• 25:07
Speaker 1: we didn't miss much when it comes to the transcripts.
• 25:10
Speaker 1: If you were following along as it was happening today,
• 25:13
Speaker 1: there were so many lulls and breaks and boring pauses
• 25:17
Speaker 1: that it almost felt like I was watching some kind
• 25:20
Speaker 1: of procedural. And it was just one of those kind
• 25:25
Speaker 1: of days for the defense that you want to put
• 25:28
Speaker 1: on the back burner and forget about. Because... They had
• 25:32
Speaker 1: witnesses that didn't want to show up, witnesses that weren't
• 25:35
Speaker 1: allowed to testify because of logistics. And when you add
• 25:38
Speaker 1: it all up and you look at it from an
• 25:41
Speaker 1: overall perspective, it certainly looks to me that we're going
• 25:47
Speaker 1: to get some guilty convictions coming back. Now, I don't
• 25:51
Speaker 1: know exactly which charges she'll be guilty on or not
• 25:53
Speaker 1: guilty on. I'm just giving you my gut feeling here.
• 25:57
Speaker 1: And from what I have seen from the prosecution, from
• 26:01
Speaker 1: the defense, and watching it every single day for basically
• 26:07
Speaker 1: the last three years, it certainly seems to me that
• 26:11
Speaker 1: there is enough here for a conviction and that the
• 26:13
Speaker 1: jury will feel the same way. Now, obviously, we'll have
• 26:17
Speaker 1: to see what's going on. And tomorrow, they're going to
• 26:20
Speaker 1: be in the courtroom for some more proceedings. To get
• 26:25
Speaker 1: ready for Monday. And obviously I'll be taking a look
• 26:29
Speaker 1: at that as well. And we'll do an update on
• 26:31
Speaker 1: that tomorrow night. But tomorrow morning we'll be back with
• 26:33
Speaker 1: the same old morning updates. And we'll keep it rocking
• 26:36
Speaker 1: and rolling until this is all finished out. But it
• 26:40
Speaker 1: was an end with a whimper here folks. You know
• 26:45
Speaker 1: like usually you go to the fireworks show. And then
• 26:47
Speaker 1: you have the grand finale. There was no grand finale
• 26:51
Speaker 1: for Ghislaine Maxwell. In fact it was more like. The
• 26:55
Speaker 1: Grand Fizzle. If you'd like to contact me, you can
• 26:59
  Speaker 1: do that at bobbycappucci at protonmail.com. That's B-O-B-B-Y-C-A-P-U-C-C-I at protonmail.com.
• 27:08
Speaker 1: You can also find me on Twitter at B-O-B-B-Y underscore C-A-P-U-C-C-I.
• 27:15
Speaker 1: The link that we discussed tonight can be found in
• 27:17
Speaker 1: the description box. All right, folks, enjoy your Friday, and
• 27:21
Speaker 1: I will talk to you all in the morning. What's up, everyone,
• 27:24
Speaker 1: and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles. Today is the
• 27:28
Speaker 1: third day that the jury is deliberating in the Ghislaine
• 27:31
Speaker 1: Maxwell trial, and we all are waiting for the verdict. Now,
• 27:37
Speaker 1: as we do that, we're going to dive into an
• 27:40
Speaker 1: article this morning from the Daily Beast about some of
• 27:43
Speaker 1: the bombshells that we have heard throughout the testimony leading
• 27:47
Speaker 1: us up to this point. So, it's a relatively long article,
• 27:52
Speaker 1: so we're just going to dive right in. Now, like
• 27:55
Speaker 1: I said, this article is from the Daily Beast. The headline?
• 28:00
Speaker 1: Flights with Trump, Pregnancy Pics, and Latex Costumes. The Biggest
• 28:05
Speaker 1: Bombshells from Ghislaine Maxwell's Trial. The author of this article
• 28:10
Speaker 1: is Kate Bricklett. And shout out to Kate for doing
• 28:13
Speaker 1: a great job throughout this whole entire thing. She's been
• 28:16
Speaker 1: very consistent with her reporting and one of the very,
• 28:20
Speaker 1: very few, honestly, who has remained consistently good throughout this
• 28:24
Speaker 1: whole entire ordeal. So make sure you go and give
• 28:27
Speaker 1: Kate a follow on like social media or, you know,
• 28:31
Speaker 1: follower work on the Daily Beast or whatever. But she
• 28:35
Speaker 1: definitely deserves a tip of the cap for the fantastic
• 28:38
Speaker 1: job she has done here. And, you know, she has
• 28:41
Speaker 1: been very fair in her reporting. Let's remember that it
• 28:46
Speaker 1: was the Daily Beast that broke the story about Ghislaine
• 28:52
Speaker 1: Maxwell's nephew, Alexander Derossi, working for Hillary Clinton's State Department. So,
• 28:58
Speaker 1: you know, Kate has done very good work here, and
• 29:02
Speaker 1: it's always a joy to add one of her articles
• 29:04
Speaker 1: to the catalog. So with that said, let's take a look.
• 29:09
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell's sex trafficking trial wrapped up earlier than expected.
• 29:13
Speaker 1: with testimony spanning 12 days rather than the anticipated six weeks.
• 29:18
Speaker 1: The defense called only eight witnesses on Thursday and Friday
• 29:21
Speaker 1: before arresting its case. The socialite, co-conspirator General All-Around Scuzzbag,
• 29:27
Speaker 1: who turned 60 on Christmas Day, is accused of recruiting
• 29:31
Speaker 1: teenage girls for Jeffrey Epstein, the late multi-millionaire, pedophile, and
• 29:36
Speaker 1: her former boyfriend, allegedly, to sexually exploit through massage in
• 29:40
Speaker 1: the 1990s and early 2000s. She also was accused of
• 29:44
Speaker 1: abusing some victims herself. She has pleaded not guilty and
• 29:48
Speaker 1: denied any involvement with Epstein's crimes. You know, it's funny.
• 29:54
Speaker 1: You would think that if you didn't have anything to
• 29:55
Speaker 1: do with Epstein's crimes, that you would have come out
• 29:58
Speaker 1: right away after Epstein was arrested and give a full
• 30:02
Speaker 1: account of what occurred. No, I didn't do this. I
• 30:05
Speaker 1: wasn't involved in that. I certainly didn't hurt anybody. In fact,
• 30:08
Speaker 1: I was a victim myself. But there was never any
• 30:11
Speaker 1: of that, was there? The only time that we start
• 30:13
Speaker 1: hearing about, oh, I'm a victim... is when the hammer
• 30:17
Speaker 1: starts to swing down and then she's in legal jeopardy.
• 30:20
Speaker 1: Now she's a victim. Anything to try and wiggle off
• 30:23
Speaker 1: of the hook. There is nothing, no plan, no plot
• 30:29
Speaker 1: that Ghislaine Maxwell wouldn't get involved in to try and
• 30:32
Speaker 1: stay out of trouble. The jury began deliberating late in
• 30:37
Speaker 1: the afternoon on Monday after closing arguments and will resume
• 30:40
Speaker 1: their discussions on Wednesday morning. Prosecutors called 24 witnesses in
• 30:47
Speaker 1: 10 days, including the four victims listed in the indictment
• 30:51
Speaker 1: against Maxwell, who were as young as 14 when Epstein
• 30:54
Speaker 1: molested them. Two accusers testified under the pseudonyms Jane and Kate,
• 30:59
Speaker 1: a third Carolyn used her first name, and the last,
• 31:02
Speaker 1: Annie Farmer, was identified by her full name. The women
• 31:06
Speaker 1: described Maxwell as the financier, pedophiles, chief accomplice, who recruited
• 31:11
Speaker 1: them into his teenage sex ring, groomed them, and facilitated
• 31:15
Speaker 1: the abuse at his homes around the world. Now, with
• 31:19
Speaker 1: all that we know leading up to this, and then
• 31:23
Speaker 1: the testimony that we heard, how in the world could
• 31:26
Speaker 1: there be any other verdict besides a guilty one? Now again,
• 31:31
Speaker 1: I will not be shocked no matter what happens. if
• 31:35
Speaker 1: there's a not guilty verdict on all counts, I would
• 31:38
Speaker 1: shake my head and, you know, accept the fact that
• 31:42
Speaker 1: that's just how the government is, right? It's just the
• 31:45
Speaker 1: way it goes. But I think that in this situation,
• 31:51
Speaker 1: I think that there's going to be enough to convict.
• 31:54
Speaker 1: And it's probably just my cynicism talking when I say,
• 31:59
Speaker 1: oh boy, there's a, you know, she's going to walk
• 32:02
Speaker 1: or anything like that. When I get those doubts, it's
• 32:05
Speaker 1: probably just my cynicism speaking. But I guess what I'm
• 32:10
Speaker 1: trying to say is I don't put anything past the
• 32:13
Speaker 1: federal government. And when it comes to situations like this,
• 32:17
Speaker 1: court cases and Until something is locked and loaded and
• 32:20
Speaker 1: you have a verdict, anything is possible in the American
• 32:23
Speaker 1: justice system when you're dealing with the elite. Now, if
• 32:27
Speaker 1: it was you or I on trial, this would be
• 32:29
Speaker 1: a done deal, a wrap, and we would have been
• 32:31
Speaker 1: under the prison already. But you have to factor in
• 32:35
Speaker 1: the added little piece that Ghislaine Maxwell is part of the,
• 32:39
Speaker 1: you know, the big club, as George Carlin was so
• 32:42
Speaker 1: fond of saying. The trial shed new light on the
• 32:48
Speaker 1: bond between Epstein and Maxwell, the life of luxury they
• 32:52
Speaker 1: enjoyed while allegedly abusing girls from broken homes or whose
• 32:55
Speaker 1: families struggled financially, and the supposed code of silence they
• 32:59
Speaker 1: imposed on their employees. Here were some of the trial's
• 33:03
Speaker 1: biggest bombshells. Victim Jane said Maxwell and Epstein abused her
• 33:09
Speaker 1: during group sex. Now think about that for a minute.
• 33:12
Speaker 1: What sort of sick, disgusting, demented people do you have
• 33:16
Speaker 1: to beat? to bring a 14 year old into your sexual,
• 33:21
Speaker 1: your group sexual romp. There's no redeeming factors for people
• 33:28
Speaker 1: that would do anything like that. There's no fixing people
• 33:31
Speaker 1: like that. The first victim to testify, Jane, said that
• 33:37
Speaker 1: when Epstein and Maxwell began abusing her when she was
• 33:40
Speaker 1: only 14 in 1994, Maxwell seemed very casual and like
• 33:45
Speaker 1: it was very normal and not a big deal. That's
• 33:48
Speaker 1: because of the normalization process, right? When you go back
• 33:51
Speaker 1: and you look at the grooming and how all of
• 33:53
Speaker 1: this comes into play, you have to have it normalized
• 33:56
Speaker 1: first for these girls to accept what's going on. And
• 34:01
Speaker 1: that's a critical role that Maxwell played. The couple allegedly
• 34:08
Speaker 1: began to train her sexually and include her in group
• 34:10
Speaker 1: sexual encounters with other adult women. Jane shared the first
• 34:14
Speaker 1: names of several women who allegedly participated in group sexual
• 34:18
Speaker 1: encounters with her when she was underage. Eva, Sophie, Michelle,
• 34:23
Speaker 1: and a British woman named Emmy. Jane claims Maxwell and
• 34:28
Speaker 1: Epstein recruited her when she was attending the prestigious Interlochen
• 34:32
Speaker 1: summer camp where Epstein was a donor and had use
• 34:35
Speaker 1: of a scholarship lodge when he visited the Michigan school
• 34:38
Speaker 1: every year. Not only did he have use of the lodge...
• 34:42
Speaker 1: He had his name on the lodge. He was donating
• 34:44
Speaker 1: so much money there that they put his name on
• 34:47
Speaker 1: the lodge. Think about that for a minute. This monster
• 34:50
Speaker 1: had access to that lodge at this school with all
• 34:54
Speaker 1: them kids running around. Now, that's not to say he was,
• 34:57
Speaker 1: you know, on this campus using it as a fertile
• 35:03
Speaker 1: hunting ground, if you will. But the just idea that
• 35:08
Speaker 1: somebody like this could have access to all of these
• 35:11
Speaker 1: children with a location right on the school property is
• 35:15
Speaker 1: just beyond the pale. Jane told jurors she had just
• 35:20
Speaker 1: lost her father to cancer and was living with her
• 35:23
Speaker 1: mother and siblings in a family friend's pool house. According
• 35:26
Speaker 1: to Jane, Epstein paid for her voice lessons, private school
• 35:30
Speaker 1: in New York, and other bills her mother couldn't afford.
• 35:33
Speaker 1: When she first visited the pool at Epstein's Florida estate,
• 35:36
Speaker 1: she saw at least four women in Galane all topless
• 35:40
Speaker 1: and some of them were naked. Again, the normalization of
• 35:43
Speaker 1: it all. From the time you walk in till the
• 35:45
Speaker 1: time you leave, this is how we do things here.
• 35:48
Speaker 1: And if you want to be part of this crew,
• 35:50
Speaker 1: if you want to be part of this upper crust
• 35:54
Speaker 1: world and society, you're going to have to play the game.
• 35:58
Speaker 1: And that's how these... they kick in, right? They get
• 36:03
Speaker 1: these girls there. They see the other girls and women.
• 36:05
Speaker 1: A lot of them seem to be highbrow. And these
• 36:09
Speaker 1: young girls from broken homes, they think, well, hey, this
• 36:12
Speaker 1: is how the other side lives, I guess. And before
• 36:15
Speaker 1: you know it, it's just normalized behavior to them. Kate
• 36:20
Speaker 1: said Maxwell forced her to wear a schoolgirl uniform. The
• 36:23
Speaker 1: 44-year-old British woman testified that Maxwell began grooming her when
• 36:27
Speaker 1: she was 17 in 1994. Kate met Maxwell during a
• 36:31
Speaker 1: trip to Paris with her boyfriend, who was an Oxford
• 36:34
Speaker 1: classmate and a socialite. Maxwell, who was in her 30s,
• 36:38
Speaker 1: invited Kate to tea at her London townhouse weeks later.
• 36:41
Speaker 1: I was quite excited to be friends with her, Kate testified, adding,
• 36:45
Speaker 1: I felt that I had found a new connection that
• 36:47
Speaker 1: could really be meaningful to me. First rules. Don't go
• 36:51
Speaker 1: and drink tea with anyone who invites you to go
• 36:53
Speaker 1: and drink tea. It's kind of creepy, right? Oh yeah,
• 36:57
Speaker 1: why don't you come over and have a cup of
• 36:59
Speaker 1: tea with me? What? No. Stranger danger. I mean, I
• 37:05
Speaker 1: don't get it. Again, maybe it's just my view of
• 37:10
Speaker 1: the world and how jaded I've become with things, but
• 37:14
Speaker 1: Zero chance that I'd be engaging with some stranger that
• 37:18
  Speaker 1: I met on the street. I don't care if she's
• 37:20
Speaker 1: posh or not. I mean, no, I'm cool. I'll pass
• 37:23
Speaker 1: on coming to get some tea at your house. Who
• 37:25
Speaker 1: just invites somebody over to their house for tea that
• 37:27
Speaker 1: they just meet? It's just, it's all weird to me, right?
• 37:30
Speaker 1: The whole scene is just weird to me. But that
• 37:35
Speaker 1: friendship turned dark, Kay testified, after Maxwell introduced her to
• 37:39
Speaker 1: Epstein and urged her to give him massages that quickly
• 37:42
Speaker 1: turned sexual. She said that she needed massages all the time,
• 37:46
Speaker 1: and it was very difficult to keep up. Kate said
• 37:50
Speaker 1: when she was 18, Maxwell and Epstein invited her to
• 37:52
Speaker 1: Palm Beach, where Maxwell allegedly directed her to wear a
• 37:55
Speaker 1: schoolgirl costume. According to Kate, Maxwell handed her a tray
• 37:59
Speaker 1: of tea and directed her to serve the money manager, pedophile,
• 38:03
Speaker 1: who then engaged in a sex act with her. She
• 38:06
Speaker 1: asked me if I had fun and told me that
• 38:08
Speaker 1: I was such a good girl and that I was
• 38:10
Speaker 1: one of his favorites, Kate said. Because Kate was of
• 38:13
Speaker 1: the age of consent in the UK during the pattern
• 38:15
Speaker 1: of abuse, jurors were instructed that she's not a victim
• 38:20
Speaker 1: as charged in the indictment. So, again, just because she
• 38:25
Speaker 1: was the age of consent, how is it that this
• 38:29
Speaker 1: guy is not charged with abuse? I mean... Obviously, he
• 38:36
Speaker 1: was grooming them. Obviously, there was other things going on.
• 38:40
Speaker 1: And if you can't get them for the age of consent, right,
• 38:43
Speaker 1: because she's that age, there's got to be another way
• 38:46
Speaker 1: to go about nailing his ass. I mean, if he
• 38:49
Speaker 1: was in the mafia, they would have found a way, right?
• 38:51
Speaker 1: How did they get Al Capone? Certainly wasn't all the
• 38:54
Speaker 1: murders and all the mayhem. They got him on tax evasion.
• 38:57
Speaker 1: And at the end of the day, I really don't
• 38:59
Speaker 1: care what you put somebody in prison for as long
• 39:02
Speaker 1: as they go to prison when they deserve it. Carolyn
• 39:11
Speaker 1: told Epstein and Maxwell she was too young to travel
• 39:13
Speaker 1: with them. The Florida woman told jurors that she was
• 39:16
Speaker 1: molested by Epstein from the age of 14 to 18
• 39:19
Speaker 1: when she became too old for the sex predator, who
• 39:22
Speaker 1: eventually asked her if she had any younger friends. Carolyn
• 39:25
Speaker 1: testified from 2001 to 2004, Maxwell would help her. schedule
• 39:31
Speaker 1: her massage sessions and greet her in the kitchen when
• 39:33
Speaker 1: she showed up. She would just let me know Mr.
• 39:36
Speaker 1: Epstein would be in the back. He was on a
• 39:38
Speaker 1: jog or he'd be back any moment, Carolyn said. I
• 39:42
Speaker 1: could go upstairs and set up. Carolyn said she confided
• 39:45
Speaker 1: in Epstein and Maxwell about trauma in her past. Her
• 39:48
Speaker 1: grandfather raped her and molested her starting when she was four,
• 39:52
Speaker 1: and her mother was addicted to drugs and alcohol. She
• 39:55
Speaker 1: added that the couple knew her age because they had
• 39:58
Speaker 1: invited her to visit Epstein's U.S. Virgin Islands compound. She
• 40:01
Speaker 1: told Maxwell that I was too young and there is
• 40:04
Speaker 1: no way in hell my mom was going to let
• 40:06
Speaker 1: me leave the country. Despite this, Carolyn claims, Maxwell continued
• 40:11
Speaker 1: booking the massage sessions and even groped her one day
• 40:16
Speaker 1: when she was setting up the massage tables. She came
• 40:18
Speaker 1: in and felt my boobs and my hips and my
• 40:20
Speaker 1: buttocks and said that I had a great body for Mr.
• 40:23
Speaker 1: Epstein and his friends. So all of the testimony that
• 40:28
Speaker 1: these girls gave, it all was leaning in the same
• 40:32
Speaker 1: direction of what Maxwell was up to and what she
• 40:35
Speaker 1: was doing. What her role was here. And the fact
• 40:39
Speaker 1: that she was the comfort zone For these girls. The
• 40:46
Speaker 1: one that they'd show up. And they'd feel. A lot
• 40:50
Speaker 1: more secure. With Maxwell there. As opposed to just showing up.
• 40:53
Speaker 1: And Epstein hanging out in a robe. It goes to show.
• 40:57
Speaker 1: At least they hope. The jurors. The crucial role that
• 41:01
Speaker 1: Maxwell played. Within all of this. Annie Farmer said. She
• 41:07
Speaker 1: was forced to give Epstein a foot rub. Before Maxwell
• 41:11
Speaker 1: groped her. Now 42, Farmer recalled a nightmarish weekend alone
• 41:15
Speaker 1: with Epstein and Maxwell in New Mexico, a trip her
• 41:18
Speaker 1: mother believed would be an academic gathering for 20 to
• 41:21
Speaker 1: 25 students. She was a 16-year-old girl. The couple were
• 41:26
Speaker 1: in their 30s and 40s, and they took her shopping
• 41:28
Speaker 1: into a movie theater, where she said, Epstein right away
• 41:32
Speaker 1: began to hold my hand and caress it and rub
• 41:34
Speaker 1: on my foot and on my arm. I mean, it's like,
• 41:37
Speaker 1: what are you, like 15, 16? You're on your first date.
• 41:42
Speaker 1: At the movie theater. And you go right in to
• 41:44
Speaker 1: grab a little hand holding. The dude was just. Wired
• 41:47
Speaker 1: completely fucked up. Jeffrey Epstein was. One of the most disgusting.
• 41:53
Speaker 1: Heinous human beings in the history of the world. In
• 41:55
Speaker 1: my opinion. And anyone who acts like they had no idea.
• 42:00
Speaker 1: What he was up to. When they were hanging around him.
• 42:03
Speaker 1: They're lying. That is my honest opinion. When they returned
• 42:10
Speaker 1: to Epstein's ranch, Maxwell taught Farmer how to give Epstein
• 42:13
Speaker 1: a foot massage. He seemed, you know, to be enjoying it,
• 42:16
Speaker 1: Farmer testified, adding that he made groaning noises. Asked how
• 42:22
Speaker 1: she felt about it, Farmer said, I felt very uncomfortable.
• 42:25
Speaker 1: I did not want to be touching his feet. Maxwell
• 42:27
Speaker 1: then asked Farmer if she'd had professional massage before and
• 42:31
Speaker 1: offered to give her one. Farmer said they went to
• 42:33
Speaker 1: her guest room where Maxwell set up a table and
• 42:36
Speaker 1: told her to get undressed. Farmer took off her clothes
• 42:39
Speaker 1: and laid face down under a sheet before Maxwell began
• 42:42
Speaker 1: rubbing her legs and making small talk. But according to Farmer,
• 42:47
Speaker 1: Maxwell then directed her to turn over and pulled the
• 42:49
Speaker 1: sheet down before groping her chest. Farmer said she was
• 42:53
Speaker 1: frozen and wanted badly to get off the table and
• 42:56
Speaker 1: have this massage be done. Farmer added that the door
• 43:00
Speaker 1: to the room was open and she sensed that Epstein
• 43:02
Speaker 1: could sear. So while she's being molested and groped by
• 43:08
Speaker 1: sick-ass Ghislaine Maxwell, old Jeffrey Epstein's disgusting ass is standing
• 43:13
Speaker 1: in the hallway watching. These people are absolutely disturbed. Maxwell
• 43:27
Speaker 1: allegedly warned Epstein's butler never to look him in the eye.
• 43:31
Speaker 1: In some of the trial's most explosive testimony, Epstein's former
• 43:34
Speaker 1: Palm Beach butler, Juan Alessi, described how his responsibilities included
• 43:38
Speaker 1: cleaning up the financier pedophile's massage rooms, rinsing off sex toys,
• 43:43
Speaker 1: and restocking them in Maxwell's bathroom closet, which also held
• 43:48
Speaker 1: pornographic tapes and a black vinyl or leather black costume.
• 43:53
Speaker 1: I mean, when I hear that, I think about, in
• 43:55
Speaker 1: American Horror Story, the dude that shows up in the
• 43:58
Speaker 1: leather outfit. in the murder house and starts killing people?
• 44:02
  Speaker 1: That's what I think about when I hear about a
• 44:04
Speaker 1: black vinyl or leather black costume. I mean, really? He
• 44:09
Speaker 1: also stocked Epstein's vehicles with $ 100 bills. Victims, including Carolyn,
• 44:13
Speaker 1: testified that Epstein paid her cash and that denomination. Well,
• 44:17
Speaker 1: they had to have the hundies in the car, right?
• 44:19
Speaker 1: Epstein had to be able to pay people and, you know,
• 44:21
Speaker 1: if they found a new bile that they wanted to
• 44:23
Speaker 1: swoop up, They had to have a few hundies so
• 44:25
Speaker 1: that they could make off and say that they were,
• 44:28
Speaker 1: you know, just buying prostitutes. That was the alibi. That weak-ass,
• 44:32
Speaker 1: transparent-ass alibi. And the federal government and the state government
• 44:36
Speaker 1: went for it. Straight garbage. These are little girls that
• 44:41
Speaker 1: he's paying to have sex with. Not prostitutes. Alessi testified
• 44:48
Speaker 1: that he saw many, many, many females visit Epstein's lair
• 44:51
Speaker 1: and often saw topless young women lounging by the pool.
• 44:55
Speaker 1: He said he knew two of Epstein's young visitors were
• 44:57
Speaker 1: underage at the time. He also detailed how Maxwell ordered
• 45:02
Speaker 1: him and the other staff to follow a 58-page household
• 45:05
Speaker 1: manual with seemingly endless checklists of tasks at Epstein's Florida mansion,
• 45:10
Speaker 1: including ensuring a gun was placed in the bedside table
• 45:13
Speaker 1: of the master bedroom. The booklet contained directives such as
• 45:17
Speaker 1: remember that you see nothing, hear nothing, say nothing, except
• 45:21
Speaker 1: to answer a question directed at you. It's like the monkeys, right?
• 45:25
Speaker 1: Hear nothing, see nothing, say nothing. That's what it was
• 45:28
Speaker 1: like to work with for Jeffrey Epstein, huh? Asked about
• 45:32
Speaker 1: this rule unless he testified, it means a kind of
• 45:35
Speaker 1: warning that I was supposed to be blind, deaf, and
• 45:37
Speaker 1: dumb to say nothing of their lies. The document's order
• 45:40
Speaker 1: also stated, Unless otherwise instructed, never disclose Mr. Epstein or Ms.
• 45:46
Speaker 1: Maxwell's activities or whereabouts to anyone. And advise Ms. Maxwell
• 45:51
Speaker 1: of any strange phone calls or inquiries. So again, it
• 45:55
Speaker 1: goes to the point of Maxwell being the head honcho here.
• 45:59
Speaker 1: Why would he be reporting to Maxwell if she wasn't
• 46:01
Speaker 1: the one with her feet at the controls? Why would
• 46:06
Speaker 1: he be reporting to Maxwell if she wasn't the one
• 46:08
Speaker 1: making the decisions? So of course Ghislaine Maxwell played a
• 46:13
Speaker 1: key role here. Alessi, who worked for Epstein from 1991
• 46:19
Speaker 1: to 2002, said the manual involved an incredible amount of
• 46:23
Speaker 1: work and was very degrading to me. He said Maxwell
• 46:26
Speaker 1: once told him never to look Epstein in the eyes
• 46:29
Speaker 1: when addressing him. The ex-house manager said he typically worked
• 46:32
  Speaker 1: from 5 a.m. to 9 or 10 p.m., a job
• 46:35
Speaker 1: he later described as slavery. When defense lawyer Jeff Pagliuccia
• 46:40
Speaker 1: suggested none of the female masseuses complained about being hurt
• 46:45
Speaker 1: or coerced into doing anything, Alessi replied, no, they never did.
• 46:49
Speaker 1: But I wish they would have. Because I would have
• 46:51
Speaker 1: done something to stop it. Yeah, okay. Everybody wants to
• 46:54
Speaker 1: be the hero in their own story, right? I woulda,
• 46:57
Speaker 1: I coulda, I shoulda. The fact of the matter is,
• 47:00
Speaker 1: you didn't. You didn't do anything, Juan Alessi. You let
• 47:03
Speaker 1: this happen, just like the rest of them. You knew
• 47:05
Speaker 1: the deal. You knew what Epstein was. But you still
• 47:08
Speaker 1: let this happen while you were there. Boy, I gotta
• 47:11
Speaker 1: tell you what. If I was in Alessi's shoes... Forget it.
• 47:18
Speaker 1: I would have no chance I'd work for somebody like this.
• 47:22
Speaker 1: I mean, are you kidding me right now? Yeah, I'm
• 47:24
Speaker 1: sure when you first get hired, it seems like a
• 47:25
Speaker 1: dream job. Then you start to figure out what's going
• 47:28
Speaker 1: on and you don't run for the hills. You stay
• 47:30
Speaker 1: there for 10 years. Says a lot about Alessi, honestly. Trump, Clinton,
• 47:36
Speaker 1: and Mike Wallace were among Epstein's famous pals. Former Epstein
• 47:41
Speaker 1: pilot Larry Vesosky named several VIPs who flew on the
• 47:45
Speaker 1: financier pedophile's private jet, including Donald Trump and Bill Clinton,
• 47:50
Speaker 1: Britain's Prince Andrew, superstar violinist Itzhak Perlman, actors Kevin Spacey
• 47:56
Speaker 1: and Chris Tucker, former Senator George Mitchell, and former senator
• 48:00
Speaker 1: and astronaut John Glenn. Asked if Robert Kennedy Jr. took
• 48:04
Speaker 1: a jaunt on Epstein's plane, Vesosky said he didn't recall.
• 48:09
Speaker 1: So we knew about all of that stuff, right? We
• 48:12
Speaker 1: knew about all of those people on that plane. None
• 48:15
Speaker 1: of that's really that new in the overall story or
• 48:21
Speaker 1: picture of the story. But one thing is interesting. Up
• 48:24
Speaker 1: until recently, we had only heard of one flight by
• 48:26
Speaker 1: Trump on the plane with Epstein. Now there are several more.
• 48:32
Speaker 1: So again, as you peel back the layers, more of
• 48:36
Speaker 1: the onion is exposed. And just like with, with Bill Clinton,
• 48:41
Speaker 1: I'm not going to sit here and say that, you know,
• 48:42
Speaker 1: oh yeah, Donald Trump was engaging in abusing children with
• 48:45
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein. That's certainly not what I'm saying. What I'm
• 48:48
Speaker 1: saying is he certainly enabled Jeffrey Epstein for years and
• 48:52
Speaker 1: years and years while they were friends. And it's not
• 48:54
Speaker 1: even debatable. And I know there's zealots out there, right?
• 48:58
Speaker 1: People who are absolutely zealous about their politician. Oh, he's
• 49:02
Speaker 1: my favorite. He could never do anything like that. Breaking news.
• 49:06
Speaker 1: All your favorite politicians are scumbags. Okay. Donald Trump, Bill Clinton,
• 49:11
Speaker 1: Joe Biden, all of them. And it's not even close
• 49:18
Speaker 1: to a conversation. to think that Donald Trump wasn't hanging
• 49:25
Speaker 1: out with Jeffrey Epstein on a regular basis. These dudes
• 49:29
Speaker 1: were tight. The defense took pains to introduce other high-profile names,
• 49:36
Speaker 1: asking witnesses throughout the trial about Victoria's Secret mogul Les Wexner,
• 49:41
Speaker 1: Manhattan billionaire couple Glenn and Eva Dubin, recently under fire
• 49:45
Speaker 1: over their decades-long friendship with Epstein, and Maxwell's former flame, multi-millionaire,
• 49:51
Speaker 1: Gateway co-founder Ted Waite. Jane said Epstein and Maxwell often
• 49:55
Speaker 1: bragged about high-powered friends, including Trump, Clinton, and the late
• 50:00
Speaker 1: TV reporter Mike Wallace. They would sort of name drop
• 50:05
Speaker 1: or sometimes put people on speakerphone whose voices I didn't
• 50:08
Speaker 1: know and then say, oh, this was so-and-so, Jane told jurors,
• 50:13
Speaker 1: adding that the couple would say that they were very
• 50:16
Speaker 1: well connected and affluent. And again, it goes back to
• 50:19
Speaker 1: what I always talk about with the legacy media. You
• 50:22
Speaker 1: got to remember that Mike Wallace was a very powerful
• 50:25
Speaker 1: man within the media for a very long time. And
• 50:28
Speaker 1: the fact that he's hobnobbing around with Jeffrey Epstein, you
• 50:31
Speaker 1: don't think that he has other friends in the media?
• 50:33
Speaker 1: You don't think that he helped to squash some of
• 50:35
Speaker 1: these stories about Epstein that were coming out? Of course
• 50:38
Speaker 1: he did. Why do you think Epstein hung out with
• 50:40
Speaker 1: people in the media? Everything that Epstein did, him and Maxwell,
• 50:45
Speaker 1: it was because it was planned out. There were a
• 50:48
Speaker 1: lot of things, but tactically, they were very, very smart.
• 50:56
Speaker 1: Jane added that during a visit to New York when
• 50:58
Speaker 1: she was 15, she sang happy birthday to Wallace at
• 51:01
Speaker 1: his 80th birthday party. Epstein also allegedly introduced her to
• 51:05
Speaker 1: Trump during his visit to Mar-a-Lago Resort in Palm Beach.
• 51:09
Speaker 1: I mean, isn't that nice? Hey, Donald Trump, buddy old
• 51:14
Speaker 1: pal of mine, why don't you meet my 14-year-old friend? Yeah,
• 51:18
Speaker 1: but you know, everything was just kosher and normal. Nobody
• 51:21
Speaker 1: knew anything about what was going on. Carolyn believed Maxwell
• 51:26
Speaker 1: was once pregnant. Now, this was one that caught me
• 51:30
Speaker 1: off guard, too. I had never heard anything about Maxwell
• 51:32
Speaker 1: being pregnant, so if there was a pregnancy, that certainly
• 51:34
Speaker 1: is something new to me. Throughout the trial, Maxwell's legal
• 51:39
Speaker 1: team asked witnesses, including Vysotsky and fellow pilot David Rogers,
• 51:43
Speaker 1: about whether they'd ever seen the socialite pregnant before. They
• 51:47
Speaker 1: said no. The queries and apparently an attempt to discredit Carolyn,
• 51:52
Speaker 1: who previously told the government of seeing a photo of
• 51:55
Speaker 1: an expectant Maxwell in Epstein's Florida home. When Pagliuccia asked
• 51:59
Speaker 1: Carolyn about the image, she replied, nude and pregnant, laying
• 52:03
Speaker 1: on the, before he cut her off. There were multiple pictures,
• 52:06
Speaker 1: nude photos, Carolyn later added. So again, I've never heard
• 52:11
Speaker 1: anything about a pregnant Ghislaine Maxwell. So if there is
• 52:16
Speaker 1: not a picture like that, then of course the defense
• 52:19
Speaker 1: is going to use that to help bolster their argument
• 52:23
Speaker 1: that Carolyn misremembered, that she was lying, that, you know,
• 52:27
Speaker 1: she's not telling the truth. So they'll definitely try and
• 52:30
Speaker 1: use that for sure. Epstein's assistants were Maxwell fangirls. Yeah,
• 52:36
Speaker 1: we all know that because Maxwell was the underboss, right?
• 52:40
Speaker 1: If we're talking about it like the mafia, okay? This
• 52:42
Speaker 1: is an easy way to understand it. Jeffrey Epstein, the godfather.
• 52:46
Speaker 1: Glenn Maxwell, the underboss. Jean-Luc Brunel, the consigliere. And then
• 52:53
Speaker 1: the core four, Kellen, Groff, Ross, Marcinkova, those are like
• 53:01
Speaker 1: the capos, right? And then that's your whole leadership structure there.
• 53:07
Speaker 1: Two defense witnesses, former Epstein employees Kimberly Espinoza and Michelle Healy,
• 53:12
Speaker 1: shared glowing memories of Maxwell. And while they both met
• 53:15
Speaker 1: the victim, known as Jane, in the 90s, they testified
• 53:18
Speaker 1: that they believed she was an adult. Espinoza said Epstein's
• 53:23
Speaker 1: office initially hired her as a legal assistant, but that
• 53:26
Speaker 1: Maxwell quickly recruited her to become a full-time executive assistant.
• 53:31
Speaker 1: I highly respected Ghislaine, Espinoza testified. I looked up to
• 53:34
Speaker 1: her very much, Espinoza added, that she kept in touch
• 53:38
Speaker 1: with Maxwell even after leaving for another opportunity in 2002,
• 53:42
Speaker 1: and that Maxwell got her a job interview with wit,
• 53:45
Speaker 1: with weight, and allowed her to stay at her London
• 53:48
Speaker 1: townhome three years ago during a vacation to Europe. Espinoza said,
• 53:53
Speaker 1: who hasn't commented publicly about her ties to Epstein and
• 53:56
Speaker 1: Maxwell before, was accused in a victim's lawsuit of arranging
• 54:00
Speaker 1: Epstein's massage sessions with a teenage victim in New York.
• 54:04
Speaker 1: And that's really the crux of this, right? And what
• 54:07
Speaker 1: is so frustrating to people who have been following this
• 54:10
Speaker 1: case forever. Because the scope is so small here. All
• 54:15
Speaker 1: of these people that were booking these massages of these
• 54:17
Speaker 1: girls should be caught up in a RICO case. But instead,
• 54:22
Speaker 1: we have this small scope and we give them wiggle room.
• 54:27
Speaker 1: And the blame for that has to lay right directly
• 54:31
Speaker 1: at the feet of Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice.
• 54:35
Speaker 1: The dude is a wet noodle. I can't believe people
• 54:39
Speaker 1: were pining for this guy to be on the Supreme Court.
• 54:42
Speaker 1: He is an absolutely atrocious attorney general. We're talking Bill
• 54:48
Speaker 1: Barr level atrocious. Healy, who was a receptionist for Epstein
• 54:57
Speaker 1: from 1996 to 1999, said that Jane looked like a
• 55:01
Speaker 1: grown-up to me because she had a lot of makeup on. Yeah,
• 55:04
Speaker 1: because that makes you a grown-up because you have a
• 55:06
Speaker 1: lot of makeup on. The insanity of it all, folks.
• 55:12
Speaker 1: The insanity of it all. And that's the excuse for
• 55:15
Speaker 1: all of these people that were around them, right? Ah,
• 55:17
Speaker 1: she looked old enough to me. Oh, she had big breasts. Oh,
• 55:19
Speaker 1: she was wearing a lot of makeup. A lot of excuses,
• 55:24
Speaker 1: but yet not... Anyone held accountable. Of Maxwell, Healy gushed
• 55:32
Speaker 1: that the socialite, co-conspirator, was a fantastic boss. She taught
• 55:36
Speaker 1: me a lot, Healy said. I respected her. She was tough,
• 55:39
Speaker 1: but she was great. Oh yeah, great at being an
• 55:42
Speaker 1: absolute scumbag. Financial records revealed Maxwell received millions from Epstein.
• 55:48
Speaker 1: The government called Patrick McHugh, an executive at JPMorgan, to
• 55:52
Speaker 1: testify about million-dollar transfers from Epstein to Maxwell. In October
• 55:57
Speaker 1: of 1999, Epstein sold $ 18. 3 million worth of shares in
• 56:02
Speaker 1: a money market fund, then transferred the cash to one
• 56:04
Speaker 1: of Maxwell's accounts. Bank records also showed Epstein wired $ 5
• 56:09
Speaker 1: million to Maxwell in September 2002. In June 2007, according
• 56:15
Speaker 1: to McHugh's testimony, Epstein wired $ 7. 4 million to an account
• 56:19
Speaker 1: for Maxwell. That account then transferred $ 7. 35 million to an
• 56:23
Speaker 1: account for Air Galane Incorporated, which wired the funds to
• 56:27
Speaker 1: Sikorsky Aircraft in Connecticut to buy a helicopter. So... Again,
• 56:32
Speaker 1: ill-gotten gains, right? Being transferred amongst co-conspirators is exactly what
• 56:38
Speaker 1: Rico was made for. And I'm going to keep saying
• 56:41
Speaker 1: it until you're tired of me yelling about it. Until
• 56:44
Speaker 1: you don't want to hear the word Rico anymore. Until
• 56:46
Speaker 1: you start calling me Uncle Rico. Because I don't even
• 56:50
Speaker 1: understand how the prosecution can wake up in the morning
• 56:54
Speaker 1: and look themselves in the mirror knowing they're leaving all
• 56:57
Speaker 1: of this out there on the table. Sarah Kellen, an
• 57:02
Speaker 1: alleged co-conspirator, was repeatedly named, but never testified. When Epstein
• 57:08
Speaker 1: secured his controversial 2008 plea deal, the document granted immunity
• 57:12
Speaker 1: to potential co-conspirators, including Sarah Kellen, Leslie Groff, Adriana Ross,
• 57:18
Speaker 1: and Nadia Marcinkova. From day one, however, Kellen's name has
• 57:22
Speaker 1: haunted the trial. In her opening remarks, Sternum noted that
• 57:27
Speaker 1: Carolyn twice sued Epstein and Kellen, but her complaint didn't
• 57:31
Speaker 1: mention Maxwell. Vesoski indicated he spoke to Kellen, an assistant
• 57:35
Speaker 1: for Epstein, the most when it came to scheduling the
• 57:38
Speaker 1: financier pedophile's flights. The defense also asked fellow pilot Rogers
• 57:44
Speaker 1: whether Kellen took over as Epstein's main assistant in 2001.
• 57:48
Speaker 1: And when feds presented evidence of FedEx invoices, Kellen was
• 57:52
Speaker 1: listed as the sender of a package to underage Carolyn.
• 57:55
Speaker 1: So I know what you're saying to yourselves right now.
• 57:58
Speaker 1: How in the hell is Sarah Kellen Vickers not indicted here?
• 58:02
Speaker 1: How is she not being brought up on charges? And
• 58:05
Speaker 1: it's a question that all of us are asking. Because
• 58:09
Speaker 1: the fact that she was so intimately involved here, the
• 58:12
Speaker 1: fact that she had her fingerprints over so many different
• 58:15
Speaker 1: pieces of evidence here is just mind numbing. And she
• 58:20
Speaker 1: goes on to live her jet setters life with her
• 58:22
Speaker 1: NASCAR husband, huh? During a charging conference on Saturday, defense
• 58:34
Speaker 1: lawyer Christian Everdell referred to individuals who we normally may
• 58:38
Speaker 1: have considered calling as a witness, but who the government
• 58:41
Speaker 1: clearly could have charged criminally based on the testimony we heard.
• 58:45
Speaker 1: And I won't name names if we don't want to
• 58:47
Speaker 1: do that, but I think we probably know who we're
• 58:50
Speaker 1: talking about here, Everdell continued. He said that if we
• 58:53
Speaker 1: tried to call that witness or those witnesses, they undoubtedly
• 58:57
Speaker 1: would have invoked their Fifth Amendment rights. I'm happy to
• 59:00
Speaker 1: say the name, Everdell said. It's Sarah Kellen. And think
• 59:04
Speaker 1: about that for a minute. This lady is able to
• 59:07
Speaker 1: avoid being under oath once again? And it all comes
• 59:11
Speaker 1: back to that non-prosecution agreement. You want to talk about
• 59:15
Speaker 1: throwing a wrench into the situation. It's the only thing
• 59:21
Speaker 1: that's keeping people like Sarah Kellen Vickers from being in
• 59:24
Speaker 1: prison right now. And it's. It's something that needs to
• 59:27
Speaker 1: be overturned. And I really hope that when the Supreme
• 59:31
Speaker 1: Court gets a look at it, they take the case
• 59:33
Speaker 1: and they overturn it. Because Sarah Kellen Vickers and the
• 59:36
Speaker 1: rest of the Corp 4, they all need to be
• 59:39
Speaker 1: brought up on charges. And I'm going to be posting
• 59:43
Speaker 1: a seven-part series about the Corp 4 and the women
• 59:49
Speaker 1: who enabled Epstein. Maxwell announced she wouldn't testify and again
• 59:56
Speaker 1: proclaimed her innocence. On Friday, before the defense rested its case,
• 1:00:00
Speaker 1: Nathan asked Maxwell whether she intended to testify. I want
• 1:00:03
Speaker 1: to make sure that you know that the decision whether
• 1:00:05
Speaker 1: to testify or not is your decision. You are entitled
• 1:00:09
Speaker 1: to the best advice of your attorneys in making this decision.
• 1:00:12
Speaker 1: But the decision is yours. Miss Maxwell, do you understand that?
• 1:00:17
Speaker 1: Your Honor, said Miss Maxwell, who stood up with her lawyers,
• 1:00:21
Speaker 1: the government has not proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt,
• 1:00:24
Speaker 1: and there is no need for me to testify. Well,
• 1:00:30
  Speaker 1: I don't know about that. I mean, I think that
• 1:00:32
Speaker 1: if Maxwell really wanted to bolster her case and prove
• 1:00:36
Speaker 1: that she was innocent, she would have testified here. But
• 1:00:38
Speaker 1: I guess we'll see what occurs with the verdict, because...
• 1:00:44
Speaker 1: Maybe her lawyers do know what they're doing. Epstein's Miss
• 1:00:48
Speaker 1: Sweden ex-girlfriend testified for Maxwell, but couldn't remember much. She
• 1:00:52
Speaker 1: was worthless on the stand, honestly. And what it does
• 1:00:55
Speaker 1: is just shine more spotlight on her and Glenn Dubin
• 1:00:58
Speaker 1: for their role in all of this, honestly. Eva Anderson Dubin,
• 1:01:02
Speaker 1: a former Miss Sweden and doctor who dated Epstein in
• 1:01:05
Speaker 1: the 80s and early 90s, was the defense witness last Friday.
• 1:01:09
Speaker 1: The decision to call Dubin raised eyebrows, as she and
• 1:01:12
Speaker 1: her billionaire husband, Glenn, have faced scrutiny over their ties
• 1:01:15
Speaker 1: to Epstein in the wake of his death. The Dubins
• 1:01:18
Speaker 1: stood by Epstein after he pleaded guilty to soliciting a
• 1:01:21
Speaker 1: minor in Florida and served time in a Palm Beach
• 1:01:24
Speaker 1: County jail. For decades, they welcomed Epstein around their children,
• 1:01:29
Speaker 1: who called him Uncle F., Uncle Jeffy? How disturbing is
• 1:01:33
Speaker 1: all of that? Imagine having your children around Jeffrey Epstein
• 1:01:37
Speaker 1: and them calling him Uncle F. Dubin testified that she
• 1:01:42
Speaker 1: didn't recall meeting Jane or flying with her on Epstein's plane.
• 1:01:46
Speaker 1: She also said she never saw troubling behavior from Epstein
• 1:01:49
Speaker 1: toward minor girls. But, as the prosecution pointed out, Dubin
• 1:01:55
Speaker 1: lately has encountered memory problems because of a medical issue.
• 1:01:59
Speaker 1: Sometimes I can't remember things from last month, Dubin told jurors.
• 1:02:02
Speaker 1: My family notices it. So why even bring her up
• 1:02:05
Speaker 1: on the stand? Waste of time. And again, it just
• 1:02:08
Speaker 1: puts more spotlight on her and her family. Other Epstein
• 1:02:13
Speaker 1: survivors showed up to watch the trial. Several accusers who
• 1:02:16
Speaker 1: aren't victims in the government's case, including Sarah Ransom, dropped
• 1:02:22
Speaker 1: in to watch from the federal court's overflow rooms where
• 1:02:25
Speaker 1: a video feed broadcasts the proceedings on computer screens. Attorney
• 1:02:30
Speaker 1: Brad Edwards, who represented victims of the financier pedophile for
• 1:02:34
Speaker 1: more than a decade, showed up with Jennifer Callen, a
• 1:02:37
Speaker 1: woman who's never told her story about her 13 years
• 1:02:40
Speaker 1: of abuse while allegedly trapped in Epstein's world. Jen Callen
• 1:02:45
Speaker 1: was enslaved in Epstein's sex trafficking organization for 13 years,
• 1:02:49
Speaker 1: was forced into a marriage, and is trying to put
• 1:02:51
Speaker 1: her life together. She realizes people are sticking their necks
• 1:02:54
Speaker 1: out and testifying and wants them to know that they're
• 1:02:56
Speaker 1: not alone, Edwards told the Daily Beast. This is someone
• 1:03:00
Speaker 1: who essentially held captive for years in the trafficking operation,
• 1:03:03
Speaker 1: Edwards said. I mean, the absolute darkness and sadness surrounding
• 1:03:11
Speaker 1: this whole thing just can't be talked about enough. All
• 1:03:16
Speaker 1: of the poor people who have been caught up in this.
• 1:03:19
Speaker 1: And remember, we have only heard from a few. There
• 1:03:22
Speaker 1: are so many unnamed girls and victims of Jeffrey Epstein
• 1:03:26
Speaker 1: and his cohorts that I can't even begin to think
• 1:03:30
Speaker 1: about how many are out there. Maxwell's family showed up,
• 1:03:35
Speaker 1: but not her secret husband. For her part, Maxwell hasn't
• 1:03:38
Speaker 1: been without support. Her siblings, Kevin and Isabel, were in
• 1:03:42
Speaker 1: the front row, alongside her friend and attorney, Leah Safian.
• 1:03:46
Speaker 1: Kevin Maxwell addressed a flock of press outside the courthouse
• 1:03:49
Speaker 1: in the trial's first week, saying, personally, it gave me
• 1:03:52
Speaker 1: a tremendous sense of relief to be close to her,
• 1:03:55
Speaker 1: to actually be able to see her in the flesh,
• 1:03:57
Speaker 1: even to be able to speak with her. Kevin then
• 1:04:00
Speaker 1: referenced his family's complaint filed with the United Nations last
• 1:04:03
Speaker 1: month over her conditions at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center. We
• 1:04:08
Speaker 1: respect the criminal justice system and process in this country,
• 1:04:11
Speaker 1: and as a result, we are not going to make
• 1:04:13
Speaker 1: any other further comments while attending court. Kevin said. Maxwell's
• 1:04:18
Speaker 1: supposed husband, Scott Borgerson, was nowhere to be seen. The
• 1:04:22
Speaker 1: Daily Mail reported he's been spotted with a new love
• 1:04:25
Speaker 1: interest instead. A 49-year-old yoga instructor and local journalist in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts.
• 1:04:32
Speaker 1: And back to the complaints about her conditions. I mean, really?
• 1:04:36
Speaker 1: The conditions in jail? What are they supposed to be?
• 1:04:39
Speaker 1: You know, five-star conditions? You know who really had a
• 1:04:42
Speaker 1: bad time in jail? Kalief Browder. And I did a
• 1:04:46
Speaker 1: series on him as well. I'm going to post that
• 1:04:49
Speaker 1: soon too, because it gives you an idea of the
• 1:04:53
Speaker 1: ridiculousness of Maxwell's complaints when you put it up next
• 1:04:57
Speaker 1: to somebody who was actually being abused by the system.
• 1:05:03
Speaker 1: Government released never before seen photos of Epstein's homes and
• 1:05:06
Speaker 1: of Maxwell giving him a foot rub mid-flight. Dozens of
• 1:05:10
Speaker 1: government exhibits provided an inside look at Epstein's mansions in
• 1:05:14
Speaker 1: Palm Beach and New York, with images of massage rooms,
• 1:05:17
Speaker 1: sex toys, artwork, and framed photographs of young women throughout
• 1:05:21
Speaker 1: his office. Many photos depicted Epstein and Maxwell in happier days,
• 1:05:26
Speaker 1: hugging and kissing, and even posing at a lunch hut
• 1:05:29
Speaker 1: at Queen Elizabeth's Balmoral Castle. But some images were creepy,
• 1:05:34
Speaker 1: showing Maxwell giving Epstein bare feet a massage on his
• 1:05:37
Speaker 1: private jet, as their buddy and accused predator Jean-Luc Brunel
• 1:05:41
Speaker 1: looks on. During summations on Monday, prosecutor Alison Moe said
• 1:05:46
Speaker 1: one photo showed Maxwell massaging Epstein's foot with her breasts.
• 1:05:50
Speaker 1: In another picture, apparently released to the jury but not
• 1:05:53
Speaker 1: the public, Maxwell and Epstein were nude in a swimming pool. Well,
• 1:05:58
Speaker 1: that's a picture I'm glad that we haven't gotten to see.
• 1:06:02
Speaker 1: Certainly don't want to see that. Maxwell's lawyer blurted out
• 1:06:05
Speaker 1: victims' real names in court. Gasps were heard in the
• 1:06:09
Speaker 1: courtroom overflow room when defense attorney Jeff Pagliuccia, while cross-examining Alessi,
• 1:06:15
Speaker 1: said Jane's real first name in court. The government immediately
• 1:06:18
Speaker 1: called for a sidebar, during which, according to court transcripts,
• 1:06:22
Speaker 1: Pagliuccia said his supposed blunder was completely unintentional. Prosecutor Marine
• 1:06:28
Speaker 1: Comey then said, Your Honor, given that Mr. Pagliuccia represented
• 1:06:32
Speaker 1: that he had prepared to cross-examine this witness on his testimony,
• 1:06:35
Speaker 1: I think we need to have a plan going forward
• 1:06:38
Speaker 1: for how to make sure this does not happen again
• 1:06:40
Speaker 1: because clearly Mr. Pagliuccia has not prepared enough. The witness
• 1:06:45
Speaker 1: herself did the same thing. It happens, Judge Nathan answered.
• 1:06:48
Speaker 1: My perception was that it was an accident. Pagliuccia then
• 1:06:52
Speaker 1: vowed it won't happen again. But later on in the trial,
• 1:06:56
Speaker 1: Pagliucci said the last name of the victim, Carolyn, perhaps twice.
• 1:07:00
Speaker 1: A Daily Beast reporter heard him say her surname after
• 1:07:04
Speaker 1: lunch on December 7th, while a reporter from Inner City
• 1:07:08
Speaker 1: Press documented another blurt of the victim's name hours earlier.
• 1:07:13
Speaker 1: So they've been scummy the whole time, right? And I
• 1:07:16
Speaker 1: think it was intentional, looking to dox the victims, make
• 1:07:19
Speaker 1: it harder on them. We know that's how the defense
• 1:07:21
Speaker 1: likes to roll anyway. So he can say it's an
• 1:07:25
Speaker 1: accident and, you know, how can you prove it's not?
• 1:07:32
Speaker 1: Maxwell allegedly wrote a third-person essay about a relationship with Epstein.
• 1:07:36
Speaker 1: After the Fed seized hard drives found in Epstein's Manhattan home,
• 1:07:40
Speaker 1: they discovered a trove of Word documents created by a
• 1:07:43
Speaker 1: user named Gmax. On one file created in October 2002
• 1:07:49
Speaker 1: was a third-person essay about Epstein and Maxwell's romance. During
• 1:07:52
Speaker 1: closing arguments, Moe quoted from the narrative, which read, Jeffrey
• 1:07:56
Speaker 1: and Ghislaine have been together a couple for the last
• 1:07:58
Speaker 1: 11 years. They are contrary to what many people think,
• 1:08:01
Speaker 1: rarely apart. I almost always see them together, the document concluded.
• 1:08:06
Speaker 1: Jeffrey and Ghislaine complement each other really, really well, and
• 1:08:10
Speaker 1: I cannot imagine one without the other. On top of
• 1:08:13
Speaker 1: being great partners, they are also the best of friends. Uh, what?
• 1:08:19
Speaker 1: A couple for 11 years, great partners, rarely apart, best
• 1:08:23
Speaker 1: of friends. Does that sound like a personal assistant compartmentalized
• 1:08:27
Speaker 1: from Jeffrey Epstein's life, Mo told jurors? Adding, when you're
• 1:08:30
Speaker 1: with someone for 11 years, you know what they like.
• 1:08:34
Speaker 1: Epstein liked underage girls. He liked to touch underage girls.
• 1:08:37
Speaker 1: Maxwell knew it. Defense lawyer Laura Menninger, however, argued that
• 1:08:42
Speaker 1: other people had access to Maxwell's computer. What on earth
• 1:08:46
Speaker 1: makes the government think that Ghislaine Maxwell was writing an
• 1:08:48
Speaker 1: essay about herself in the third person with Jeffrey Epstein,
• 1:08:52
Speaker 1: she said. The FBI, Menninger added, wants to just say
• 1:08:56
Speaker 1: this is Ghislaine Maxwell's document because it's got her name
• 1:08:59
Speaker 1: in the metadata. Please. Well, how else would you know
• 1:09:02
Speaker 1: if it's hers or not? I mean, if the name's
• 1:09:04
Speaker 1: in the metadata, wouldn't that make it hers? Maybe it's
• 1:09:07
Speaker 1: Santa Claus's. Maybe Santa Claus snuck in and he did
• 1:09:11
Speaker 1: a little extra writing in Ghislaine Maxwell's computer files. Epstein
• 1:09:19
Speaker 1: lavished gifts on his former pilot, whose daughter rode horses
• 1:09:22
Speaker 1: with Maxwell. Vysotsky testified that Epstein gave him 40 acres
• 1:09:26
Speaker 1: of land from his 10,000-acre New Mexico ranch property so
• 1:09:31
Speaker 1: he could build a house. And he didn't charge you
• 1:09:33
Speaker 1: for that land, Everdell asked, to which Vysotsky replied, no,
• 1:09:37
Speaker 1: he did not. Vysotsky also said that he has two
• 1:09:40
Speaker 1: daughters whose private high school and college tuition were funded
• 1:09:44
Speaker 1: by Epstein. It's all payoff money. Why do you think
• 1:09:46
Speaker 1: Vysotsky didn't have anything to say? He was bought this
• 1:09:49
Speaker 1: shit so he'd shut his yap. And he's done his
• 1:09:51
Speaker 1: job well. Now, once he gets through this, he'll never
• 1:09:54
Speaker 1: have to worry again. He'll be able to just live
• 1:09:56
Speaker 1: his life with all of the ill-gotten gains he got
• 1:09:59
Speaker 1: from Jeffrey Epstein. Again, where is the Rico? So fair
• 1:10:05
Speaker 1: to say, Epstein took an interest in seeing your young
• 1:10:07
Speaker 1: daughter succeed. Isn't that right? Everdell continued. Vesasky answered, that's correct.
• 1:10:12
Speaker 1: He believed in higher education and later confirmed he didn't
• 1:10:15
Speaker 1: believe Epstein or Maxwell had any ulterior motives with regard
• 1:10:19
Speaker 1: to his children. Vesoski said his teen and preteen daughters
• 1:10:23
Speaker 1: spent time with Maxwell on Epstein's New Mexico property and
• 1:10:26
Speaker 1: they went horseback riding together. Well, no shit they did.
• 1:10:29
Speaker 1: You were in on it, buddy. You were part of
• 1:10:30
Speaker 1: the scam. You were part of the criminal operation, Larry Vesoski.
• 1:10:34
Speaker 1: Another guy who should have been indicted. Another reason why
• 1:10:38
Speaker 1: I've said from the beginning the prosecution has been spinning
• 1:10:41
Speaker 1: their wheels. People they're calling up as witnesses should have
• 1:10:47
Speaker 1: been indicted. Vesoski claimed he would have quit his job,
• 1:10:52
Speaker 1: which he held from 91 to 2019, had he known
• 1:10:56
Speaker 1: Epstein preyed on underage girls. Asked about Jane, Vesoski testified

Speaker 1: that he never thought she was underage. He said when
• 1:11:03
Speaker 1: he met her, she was just a mature woman with
• 1:11:05
Speaker 1: some piercing powder blue eyes. And he would quit his job? Really?
• 1:11:10
Speaker 1: So what happened when Epstein got busted the first time?
• 1:11:13
Speaker 1: That wasn't enough to make you quit your job, huh?
• 1:11:16
Speaker 1: You know, folks... One thing that you can be sure
• 1:11:18
Speaker 1: of is everybody who is in Epstein's web is an
• 1:11:22
Speaker 1: absolute liar. So there you have it, folks. Some of
• 1:11:27
Speaker 1: the bombshells that we have taken away from this so
• 1:11:30
Speaker 1: far as this whole entire thing has unfolded. Now, we
• 1:11:35
Speaker 1: are in a holding pattern as we await the verdict
• 1:11:38
Speaker 1: from the jury. So what I'm going to do today
• 1:11:41
Speaker 1: is I'm going to add some more context episodes. Like
• 1:11:43
Speaker 1: I said, I have a series about the women who
• 1:11:47
Speaker 1: enabled Jeffrey Epstein. I'm going to post that. And I'm
• 1:11:50
Speaker 1: also going to post the Kalief Browder episode I was
• 1:11:54
Speaker 1: talking about because I feel like it's relevant considering all
• 1:11:58
Speaker 1: of the complaints with Maxwell and her accommodations in jail.
• 1:12:03
Speaker 1: So I'll be around all day, folks, waiting to hear
• 1:12:05
Speaker 1: that verdict. And the second we have something... I'll hop
• 1:12:08
Speaker 1: back on and I'll get an episode ready to go.
• 1:12:12
Speaker 1: So I hope that all of you have a great
• 1:12:13
Speaker 1: day up until then. And then, yeah, I'll be back
• 1:12:16
